First look at this entire game and it'll tell you one thing. That the Dallas
Starting point is 00:02:06 Cowboys offensively, they're a top five offense. I truly believe that. Just watching Dak Prescott, watching everything go along and how this game handles. I know they played the Texans, but C.D. Lamb had 17 catches. You heard that right. 21 targets, 17 catches for 189 yards, and most importantly, the game-winning touchdown. I didn't understand the Houston Texans DB leverage. It made zero sense. He's playing outside leverage when they're coming to pressure and they have no help on the inside. They run a little double post one, right? That was the throw of the game by Dak. We'll get more into Dak and more into the Houston's Texas defense. But if you were blitzing, and especially if you have no safety in the middle, which was taken up
Starting point is 00:02:51 by the inside through route, like, and this is the problem, I think, with the Houston, Texas defense. They're allowing explosive plays at a really high clip. They're not getting to the quarterback as much. Dak Prescott, to me, looks like a top five quarterback. More importantly, let's just start with the Dallas Cowboys sides of thing. Where are they at? Where's their state of the franchise at? It's okay. It's all right.
Starting point is 00:03:19 You're allowing this Houston Texans team to score 30. I mean, the story of the entire year is you have a top three offense. I truly believe with Dak Prescott, George Pick and Cid Lam, Javante Williams has three touchdowns on the ground. And then you go over to that defense and you go over to Christian Parker. Like, I just don't, I don't understand it. They're really bad. Nothing about their calls makes sense.
Starting point is 00:03:43 Christian Parker is a big Fangio guy. And when I look at it and I see these two eye safety looks and I see constantly these inside routes just continuing to get hit by CJ's shout and then you're not getting pressure on Dak Prescott. That's where they sort of separated themselves. But I think with the defense being a. as bad as they are. The Dallas Cowboys, I mean, look, they just traded for Joey Port.
Starting point is 00:04:10 But they're going to have to score points offensively. They honestly should be two and oh the last two weeks. Like the Ravens lost was brutal. It was because of their defense. You look at the last two games, though. Dak Prescott's probably playing at a top three or top four type quarterback level. Like, I don't know if you're Dallas on offense. Why don't you just go two-minute drill the entire time?
Starting point is 00:04:28 Like, Dak Prescott, to me, he's at the line of scrimmage. He's running the two-minute play. he's signaling, he's handling protections. You're also wearing out that defensive front from the Texans. I thought that's where he looked his absolute best. And then obviously we talked about CD-Land, but it's clear to me who the number one target is on this team. Like George Pickens is great.
Starting point is 00:04:48 Don't know if he's going to be there next year. Don't know anything, but like CD-Lam. It took a while because if you remember on this show, we talked about how in the first game, they had like three or four targets. That is not the case. 21 targets. I also love the way Brian Schottonheimer needs a lot more credit.
Starting point is 00:05:04 as a head coach, but I like how he called the game. It was interesting to watch and just see that offense move up and down the field. But yeah, the defense for the Cowboys have to give it. Let's go to the Texans really quick. I mean, the Texans right now, they're 0 and 4. It looks really, really bleak. And guess what? For all this talk about C.J. Stroud and this fifth year option, and what are we doing?
Starting point is 00:05:28 Are we signing him to it? He's looked really good. He threw for 350 and two touchdowns. I don't care if it's against the Cowboys defense. You still have to go out there and you have to do it. The Texans, for the life of them, could not run the ball. It's the second worst rush defense in the NFL, and you run for 62 yards. You've signed David Montgomery this offseason, but you've been non-existent since week one.
Starting point is 00:05:48 Like, that makes zero. Like, you have to figure, your season's done, by the way. I don't even know what it is. I remember last week they were 0 and 3 and we're like, oh, they're going to, you know, run the table like they did last year. I'll put a fork on them. They're absolutely done. the other thing about them is they got outscored 2814 in the second half. Like the Texas, let's just go through, because we were all talking about this Texas defense as an absolute beast.
Starting point is 00:06:13 Let's just go through the Texas defense this season. Week one, you're up 3130 with 305 to play. You give up a 96-yard drive. Drop a wide open interception, you lose. Let's talk about week three. You're up 19 to 17 with a minute 48 to play. You give up a 39-yard drive and a game-winning field goal. And week four, you're up a lot.
Starting point is 00:06:31 lot going in the third, fourth quarter. You're up 30 to 27, though, with 2.15 left. And Dak Prescott absolutely annihilates you. I don't know what's going to happen. CJ's job to me is the quarterback of the future. He's played well. You've got to fix that defense. Let's move on to what I thought was probably the game of the day. Rams versus the Eagles. The first thing that stands out is, well, there's two things that stand out. Nick Siriani, what are you doing? Game management. I started. I started. I where like we talk about this all the time with Nick Siriani and it just never it never seems to be fixed like the game management issues in my opinion with Nick Siriani and a head coach I don't know
Starting point is 00:07:14 if he's handling I don't know if someone else is handling it big Dom might be handling it you have to figure out a way to manage the game better I think the biggest thing is seeing the multiple questionable decisions. And going forward on fourth down, not taking points, doing stuff throughout the game that just doesn't make sense. And I know, look, the Eagles, they had nobody. They were banged up. They were not the same offense without, say, Juan Lane Johnson is out. Even with Lane Johnson, I just think that offense of line in general is getting a lot older. By the way, the Rams didn't have Aaron Donald or Miles Garrett, still able to get home quite a bit. And your boy, Jalen Hertz, right? Like, He threw for 93 yards.
Starting point is 00:08:00 And I get it. It's sort of hard to win without Devante Smith, but you have Tank Biggsby and Darius Cooper, which, by the way, made two touchdown catches. And that first one was just an absolute moss in the end zone. But those are your leading playmakers, and you have a new coordinator who is trying to get, Sean Manning, who's trying to get on the same page,
Starting point is 00:08:19 Daniel Hurts. They looked horrible. And that's funny because we were texting back and forth in the group text. This group text was great between the bus and boys. And Jeremy Clump. he is a lifelong Eagles fan. And he was telling me that they're going to lose the game with when they're up 10 points. And I was like, no, they're not.
Starting point is 00:08:37 They're fine. Sure enough, what happens? Well, Sequin gets hurt and they end up coming back. The Rams on life support. Oh my gosh, I can't tell you how big of a deal this is to go from 2 and 2 versus 1 and 3. Like if you lose this game right here on the road, which you played all. awful in the first half, Matthew Stafford. But if you lose this and you go to one and three,
Starting point is 00:09:03 man, it just seems a lot better. Love the job that Sean McVeigh is doing. I don't know if you guys saw that, but he huddled everyone up. And he was like, dude, let's go. Like, you don't see that very often by NFL head coaches. I thought the Eagles defense played pretty well in the first half. Stafford ended up getting a job done.
Starting point is 00:09:20 But he threw two interceptions in the first half and they weren't good. The Stafford, to me, doesn't look like the same Stafford of the MVP. of last year. I don't think it's an age thing. I just think maybe teams are figuring him out. They're doing these 12 and 13 personnel packages, but he's got six touchdowns and six interceptions. The Rams didn't lead the whole game until the fourth quarter, which is nuts. Like they scored at the end. They were losing 20 to 10 entering the fourth quarter. And literally the Rams kept their season alive. I just thought in general, too, the Rams coached a lot better than the Eagles. It's great to have Pooka Nakuwa back.
Starting point is 00:10:01 He passed Randy Mott. I get this. He had a lot of yards. But Pooka Nakua passed Randy Moss on most yards through 50 games. That's how good this dude has been. Since 2002, get this, preseason Super Bowl favorites of plus 500 or better are 0.14 on winning the Super Bowl. Rams were plus 500. I just think this gives them life.
Starting point is 00:10:25 They don't look like a Super Bowl team right now. now. Like they, to me, they don't look like a Super Bowl team. There's a lot to get back. Defensively, look, you hold the Rams or sorry, you hold the Eagles to 172 total yards. Your past defense is good. Just wait. If Matthew Stafford can play better, just wait until Aaron Donald and Miles Garrett get back. But this game was an interesting game. It was a sort of a boring game to watch. If the Rams lose this, their season's dead. Not so fast back from the grave. All right, Let's get to a sneaky good game. It is Bears versus the Jets.
Starting point is 00:11:01 First of all, what a weird score. You guys ever heard of Scorogami? I don't think this is a scurigami, but Jets have 12. Chicago is 23. This game was so much worse of a beatdown than this score hits, and we'll get into all of it.
Starting point is 00:11:17 First of all, I want to get to the biggest story of the day for the bears. And that was Tyson Bejit. I saw what Case Keenham did. Monday night football last year. I'm a big Case Keenham guy. I understand Tyson Bajent, like Caleb Williams is out, Hammy. Tyson Bajon had a concussion. He was backing him up. Case Keenum played unbelievable. I thought the offense to me looked better versus this game versus the game that Case Keenum, I thought it looked better with Case Keenum. Case Keenum sort of found something in that water in Chicago or that deep dish pizza
Starting point is 00:11:50 because he played out of this world. And I was a little bit like, hey, what are they doing? Like, why are they playing Case, why are they playing Tyson after Case Kim did that? What do I know, though? The Bears can win with all three quarterbacks. Like, the fact that the Bears are winning right now, and they're winning at the pace at what
Starting point is 00:12:10 they're doing, it's super impressive. You have three, you have multiple wins, and you have done it with multiple different quarterbacks. I think that's the biggest thing from this game that I took away. And the Bears look to me, I'm not being facetious. like this is a team that looks like they can win a Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:12:29 They look like they can win the NFC. The NFC, to me, they look like the class of the NFC. Like Tyson Bayesian to me, 25 or 34, 268 yards, an interception. They can run the piss out of the bowl. That is six touchdowns the very first week or whatever against the Panthers. They ran the football. 54 rush attempts for 232 yards, Kylemanungai, 30 for 146, two touchdowns. I mean, they just continued handing the football.
Starting point is 00:12:56 They have DeAndre Swift out there. Luser burden is going nuts. But look at this game for the Bears. I have no clue how, I don't think this is a scorygami score. I have no idea how the score was only 23 to 12. Get this stat. This is crazy. And I'm not a bunch of stats, but shout out Mitch, Busson, for putting this in there because it's amazing.
Starting point is 00:13:21 The Bears had 34, follow me, 34 first. downs while the Jets only had seven. The Jets only managed seven first downs. Okay, so the bears had 34, which anything over 22 to 24 offensively, you are humming. I mean, you're staying out of third downs. That means you're continuing to drive the clock, and that's what happens with the time of possession as well. The bears ran almost 90 plays. They ran 89. The Jets ran 32. So get this. The bears had more first downs, 34, than the. The Bears had more first downs, 34, than the Jets had plays. How is this 20th?
Starting point is 00:13:57 If Caleb Williams plays this game, it's a complete and utter destruction. But shout out backup quarterbacks, right? Like, I love backup quarterbacks. I was a backup quarterback in Chicago, Mitcherbisky. I heard a few times. I was able to come in. I was able to play well. But the fact that you have two backup quarterbacks, I like Tyson Bajent a lot.
Starting point is 00:14:21 I feel like he is built like an NFL quarterback. I feel like it never, ever looks too big for him when he's out there. It also probably helps that you have, I don't know, Ben Johnson, who I would put in the same category as Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVeigh as offensive play callers. Do you know how hard it is, Bears fans, to call plays for three completely different quarterbacks? You have Houdini in the pocket with Caleb Williams and what he's able to do. He's moving left.
Starting point is 00:14:52 He's moving right. he's not really an understander quarterback, but Ben Johnson's turned him into an under center quarterback. And then you have Case Keenham, who's a statue in the pocket like me, got a little beer belly, just like me. He's my boy, so I can say that. Like, he looks good out there. He's still on absolute darts,
Starting point is 00:15:07 so you've got to have more play action. You've got to have less move the pocket. You've got to make sure the ball's out quick because he can't get away. And then you have Tyson Bayesian, who's a little bit of both. Like, I feel like he can escape. The dude's an absolute freak show in the gym, like get off me type. you have all three different quarterbacks. So the play call sequencing when it comes down to that,
Starting point is 00:15:27 which is, as Ben Johnson, how do I get from one play to the next? And how does my quarterback handle that? All right, I go, let's take a play call sequence. Say I go run out of heavy personnel on first down. Say it's run left. All right. With Caleb Williams, you might want to go,
Starting point is 00:15:45 hey, hey, let's get insane personnel, different formation, run left, boot right? With Case Keenheim, you're like, hey, I can't boot. I need fake here, but I need intermediate throws in the middle of the field, which I think Case Keenum's really good at. I think Caleb Williams really good extending the play. And then maybe you have on third down, maybe you run it.
Starting point is 00:16:02 Maybe you pop a run with Case Kim so you don't trust them on third down. Maybe pop a run with Tyson Bejit on third down because you don't, you don't think he can go. I just think it's so impressed. Like we need to talk about this team more. And by the way, we didn't even get to the defense. think about when they get Caleb back, but how about Dennis Allen? Shout out Dennis Allen for getting this defense rolling.
Starting point is 00:16:27 I think they had three takeaways the week prior to this game. They are getting takeaways now. They didn't have any this week. The Bears also lost the turnover margin and still won. That's probably why it was close. But shout out like Dennis Allen. Like the group finally is playing like they did last year. I don't know if they led the league,
Starting point is 00:16:44 but they had an insane amount of takeaways last year. Right now they are rolling to the ball. Gino Smith had 119 yards through the air and only 59 rushing yards, I believe, for the Jets. I'm looking at it up right now. Yeah, one person carried the ball for the Jets. They had 14 carries, 59 yards for Braylon Allen. Gino Smith, look, I like Frank Reich, offensive coordinator. I think Gino's actually playing pretty well.
Starting point is 00:17:10 They're not just an easy win. But for a backup quarterback at home to get this crazy. But the Bears defense to me, like they're playing complimentary football. They're getting off the field on third down. They're just now figuring out who they are defensively, what their identity wants to be. I think this team, and I'm not saying this, I think they're one of the best teams in the entire NFC,
Starting point is 00:17:36 and I think if they want to make a run at this thing, I think Caleb Williams on the bench has learned a different perspective. Like, if I'm on the bench and I'm in the backup, and then you're always playing as a starter. you sometimes don't get to see it from a different vantage point. The fact that they're able to be three and one with him learning on the sideline, you see him in the bathrobe, dancing, getting excited. I know he's getting close.
Starting point is 00:18:04 It'll be interesting to see how he does when he comes back. But I just, I love this team, man. With the run game that they have, it's taking pressure off the quarterback. If their defense can continue to secure takeaways, I think the biggest difference this year, the bears know exactly who they are, exactly what's expected about them. And the fact of the matter is, this team can travel in the playoffs. We talk about it all the time.
Starting point is 00:18:30 How do you travel in the playoffs? You have a run game. You have a defense. They're not cardiac kids. Remember those fourths? I think they won 10 out of their, how many games they won in the fourth quarter or come from behind wins. This is different.
Starting point is 00:18:45 Now, you're going to need some of those to get rolling, but I've just been super impressed with the Bears, three separate quarterbacks and the Jets, there's not a lot to say about this record is on. Miley is having a moment, new name, new album, and two exclusive shows. So IHart Radio is sending you to experience it all. Life at the Hollywood Pole.

Starting point is 00:19:31 let's take a quick break. This football season, whether you're buying tickets, booking travel, or shopping for team gear, protect your pocket with Visa. Tapping to pay for a bootleg jersey without checking the card, not a pro move. Tapping to pay with Visa, that's a pro move. Visa runs more than 500 security checks.
Starting point is 00:19:50 to help identify fraud before transactions are approved, helping protect your payment all the way to the end zone, so you can focus on other things, like whether boneless wings are actually wings. Reaching for your card with five fingers covered in buffalo sauce, that's a fumble waiting to happen. Not a pro move. Tapping to pay with Visa, now that's a pro move,
Starting point is 00:20:11 because with Visa, you're not responsible for any charges you didn't make. So you can save your defensive energy for something else like keeping Taylor away from your nachos. This season, a great defensive play is paying with Visa, the most trusted way to pay for football fans everywhere. All right, back here on the first read, we just did the early slate of games. Let's get into my two favorite afternoon games,
Starting point is 00:20:35 and that is the 49ers Broncos. 49ers end up winning 2414. This was a closer game than I thought. It was interesting to see how these two teams matched up, Because me, I think the 49ers, clearly, clearly the best team in the NFC right now. Like, to me, it's not even close. We just got done talking about the Bears, San Francisco's 4-0. Then you go to the Broncos, new play caller, not quite the talent that they had last year,
Starting point is 00:21:04 even though, but they end up getting J-Lan Waddle back, like all these things, but they're two and two. They're two and two in a really tough division. Bo Nix has just been all right. Look, on this channel, you know I love me some Bo Nicks, and we'll talk. about him. Let's start with the 49ers, though. Brock Purdy, 19 or 30, 218 yards, two touchdowns. He didn't play his best game. But I would say he's playing the position. And you say that, right? You're like, Chase, he didn't play his best game. Guess what? He saw it 107 quarterback rating. He still completed 19 of 30 for 218 yards. He still was absolutely money in the fourth quarter.
Starting point is 00:21:38 against a very good, a very good Broncos defense that can get after the passer. CMC had a rushing touchdown. Juice figured had a little knee injury, hope he's okay because he actually makes this offense go. George Kittle has some wheels. I don't know if you saw it, but he's rolling to the left, Rock Purdy. It's like a fake to the right, rolling to the left, throws this to Kittle, and then Kittle took off. Like how good is it to have George Kittle back? George went for four for 70 in a touchdown.
Starting point is 00:22:07 on Mike Evans, five for 76 yards. Let's just talk about the job that Brock Purdy and Kyle Shanahan has done. Because we're going to get to the Broncos, and I have a lot of thoughts about the Broncos. So if you're a Broncos fan, stay with me here. But the 49ers to me, they're the best team. They're the best coach team in the NFL. The way that the 49ers and Kyle Shanan are sequencing and calling plays right now,
Starting point is 00:22:32 Brock Purdy looks magnificent. He's using his legs when he needs to. Had 10 carries, never liked to have him be there. the second leading rusher in terms of attempts in a game, 10 carries for 29 yards. CMC had 15 for 52, but they ended up running for 140 yards. Versa defense like this,
Starting point is 00:22:47 your play calling has to be completely different. And your mindset as a quarterback versus Broncos, it has to be completely different. You're probably not going to get some massive throws down the field, although they had that 56-yarder to kill, but most of it was dinking and dunking, playing in front of the sticks. Vance Joseph, for the defensive coordinator for the Broncos,
Starting point is 00:23:04 he makes everything stay in front of you. So you really have to pick and choose your spots to be aggressive as a play caller, knowing that this game was like 3-3-4-4-40-9ers ended up scoring, and then the Broncos ended up scoring. So this looked like a little bit of a back-and-forth game. But the way Brock Purdy is playing the quarterback position right now is super impressive. And I say that because the target shares, like I'm just going to read these target shares. I hope you like to get nerdy in here.
Starting point is 00:23:31 Mike Evans, he's spreading it around. I might get to what it means like. Mike Evans eight targets. George Kittle, six targets. Debo Samuel, six targets, which, by the way, I think he's sort of like a sneaky MVP for that team, playing extremely. Also had a touchdown. CMC, five targets.
Starting point is 00:23:46 So you have one, two, three, four. Four guys that have the lion's share of your targets, 26 total out of 29. But you see how easily they are complimentary to one another because you can't really focus in on one person in this offense. If I had to pick the one person on this offense other than CMC, other than George Kittle, that's made a massive difference is Mike Evans. Like 5 for 76, average 15.2 yards, multiple third down catches. I just think when you have a guy like Mike Evans that you know is going to get one-on-one coverage because you have all these other dudes, CMC and George Kittle,
Starting point is 00:24:23 it makes you relax as a quarterback. The fact that they were able to get on the same page so quickly together, I think that's what's impressive. Obviously, Mike, I think he's one of the better receivers of all time coming over from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But the job and the coaching, right, it's always come down to injuries, that substation, that all that stuff.
Starting point is 00:24:43 The fact of the matter is they are, they are playing really well. Their defense is playing a lot better than, then a lot of people think. So to have those guys back into the building, it's really, really good. And it's not, it's not weird to say, or different to say that Brock Purdy
Starting point is 00:25:04 looks like the best. quarterback in football and it's not weird or anything to say that the 49ers look like the best team in football they're going to continue to to get better look at their schedule though i think the seahawks game will be interesting commanders i mean there's a very real chance they could be seven eight no i think the biggest thing is can you stay healthy um but i love the way the 49ers play let's get to the broncos side of things um it's just been a really up and down season. And I think it starts with the play caller,
Starting point is 00:25:40 Davis Webb. I'm not putting blame on him. I think it starts with the play caller. I think it starts with Sean Payton a little bit. I think it starts with the quarterback a little bit. They don't know who they are, identity-wise. And a lot of people don't understand this, but everyone just thought Davis-Web would go in and call the exact same Sean Payton plays.
Starting point is 00:25:55 Guess what? It's not. That's not the case. He hasn't just called the same plays. They've added a few things. I was able to be into meetings with them last off season, this off season, and just really understand what's happening. I got to go to training camp, and we sat down with Sean Payton a couple years ago,
Starting point is 00:26:13 and Sean's my guy, saw him at the Hall of Fame with Drew Brees. And look, I would imagine at some point Sean's going to be more involved in the playcalling. I'm not saying that this is a Davis web issue by any chance or any means. But when you're a first-time play caller, and you have Sean Payton under you, it's almost like Bill Parcells.
Starting point is 00:26:32 I don't know if you guys heard this, but Sean Payton was talking about, about play calling. He was asked, I think, by Peter Shaker or somebody about how it's like to sort of watch someone else do what you do so well, right? That's what, and he's like, it's hard. It's really hard. And I think through the day and through the times that they're going, I think it's going to be interesting to see shorter what happens there. The defense to me played okay. I just think this is going to come down to a season where if Davis Webb can't get on the same page with Bo Nix. I like that. the fact that Jalen Waddle had a touchdown, but you can't go into a game and have R.J. Harvey, who I love, he has 10 targets. Like he has 10 targets in a game. He's your leading target.
Starting point is 00:27:19 He's got 10 catches. The next most catches is 5 for 35 in Jalen Waddle. I like that he ended up getting a touchdown. And then another thing, too, and this has been a problem for the Broncos. And it's sort of been a problem for Shum. on Peyton, even from his New Orleans days, 22 carries 82 rushing yards. You can't do that. You have to be aggressive in games like this.
Starting point is 00:27:44 You have to push the ball down the football field. You can't have bow necks to own it 42 times and you're running at 22. I mean, that's a two to one rate. Like that's just to me that doesn't make a lot of sense. I think the Broncos, to me, they got to get their stuff right, man. Like you're looking at them. They get the chargers next week. Then they got Seahawks and they got Cardinals and they got cheese, man.
Starting point is 00:28:01 They got to be above 500. They got to figure out who they are identity-wise. But yeah, it's just, it was a good game. But I think the best game of the slate, Chiefs Raiders. Like the Chiefs Raiders, to me, 30 to 27, Kenneth Walker, Patrick Mahomes, taking over again. Can you just, can we just give a golf clap? Kenneth Walker, Sean Peyton, or sorry, Andy Reed, Patrick Mahomes, 175 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. This is a completely different football.
Starting point is 00:28:34 team with those two at the helm. Like Kenneth Walker has completely changed. We did a breakdown on on SportsCenter. I was at SportsCenter. We were at Mississippi State, Alabama game. And they said, hey, Chase, you want to talk to Chiefs Raiders? It's like, yeah, did some digging, all this stuff. Last week against the dolphins, and I don't know the stats here because these are
Starting point is 00:28:54 next-gen stats. Last week against the dolphins, Patrick Mahomes had 14 completions and 14 attempts on play action. You know who the number one team in the league is at using play action? I think at 36% of the time, it's the Kansas City Chiefs. The Kansas City Chiefs for me just absolutely insane. I think what they're doing is really next level. I think I have enjoyed everything about this team. I think they figured out how to win football games. I feel like they have figured out ways to really step up their game and change who they are offensively. And one of those reasons why I think they played really well is Taekwon Thornton.
Starting point is 00:29:41 And man, it was really bad. He caught this cover zero post. He ended up, looked like his ankle was moving back inside. If you're quees, you don't want to talk about it. You don't want to figure that out because it's just not great. But he has been their biggest deep threat this year. And he comes up. They run this cover zero post.
Starting point is 00:30:03 Mohomes does a good job, stepping back, firing this pigskin down the field, he hits it, gets tackled. And I just think that's a huge loss. He's been a huge part of their deep game. The Chiefs, it was a really close game. They scored to take the lead. And then what happened was the Raiders flumbled on the ensuing kickoff. And Kenneth Walker scored on the first play after. And if you're looking defensively, I think this Chief's team is good. I think they're better than they thought.
Starting point is 00:30:33 I think the fact that they're 4-0 is really impressive. I think the fact that they got a really difficult schedule coming up. Bodes well for them that they're 4-0. The chargers always play them good. They got the Seahawks. And then they got the Broncos. And then it's easy from there, Jets Chiefs or Jets Falcons Cardinals. But I like the way Mansour de Lane's playing.
Starting point is 00:30:57 I do think that offensively, though, they're going to have to carry it. I think they're a different team. And I think it's really good. Now, let's get to the Raiders, because Raiders are three and one. Could you believe at the start of this game that the Raiders were playing for a chance at the first place in the AFC West? To me, it was next level. I think Kirk, I think Kirk Cousins and the Raiders, they're for real. Like, I love watching him play.
Starting point is 00:31:26 Kirk has played really well. He's thrown 11 touchdowns. He threw an interception today, but he's 365. yards in Brock Bowers, a baller, Michael Mayer, Ashton Jinty, they look good. And I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed watching
Starting point is 00:31:43 Clint Kubiak call these plays. You've forgotten about Fernando Mendoza. I've forgotten about Fernando Mendoza. I was completely wrong on it, I guess. I think I was the one who was like, hey, you know what? We need to play them sooner rather than later. Well, guess what? Not so fast. The Raiders are three and one.
Starting point is 00:32:01 I think they're for real. I think Ash and Jentie. I think the way that Clint Kubiak is able to sequence these play calls, I think it's great. This seemed like a heavyweight matchup sort of, and it's weird to say because, you know, it's the Raiders, and I think the Raiders' defense is good. I just think Patrick Mahomes, I think he's got that clutch gene back. It's been a while. His knee feels really good.
Starting point is 00:32:24 But yeah, I've just been super impressed with this entire game. We're going to do something new here. we're going to do a little trending up, trending down. We're going to pick three players, coaches, or teams that are trending up and what I liked about their performance and three players that are trending or coaches or teams that are trending down. Let's get into it. How about Drake May?
Starting point is 00:32:44 He's like, if you had two arrows on this, if we have two arrows, can we just get them pointing way up? Because Drake May handled the bills their first loss. There's been so much talk about Drake May and his mechanics. And look, I love Dan Orlowski and I love everyone else that he's breaking down. like the left knee's not bent, all this stuff. You know what, Drake May? Mike Grable said, that's enough.
Starting point is 00:33:05 I've had enough of that. 269 yards, three touchdowns, had a pick. Also led the team in rushing. Can't have that happen with 54 yards. Had three fumbles. I get it. Only lost one. But when I look at a quarterback and I look at mechanically,
Starting point is 00:33:18 he did have a little bit of a flaw in his mechanics, but he was just so sick and tired. Everyone's talking about like, Drake May, look at the schedule last year. Look how you're doing. Look, I get it. You have to figure it out. And you have, Josh,
Starting point is 00:33:30 Daniel's going. I just love the fact that he's playing really well. Like Patriots Receiver Corps is absolutely getting banged up. Like you don't have A.J. Brown out there. You have a hell of a one-handed catch by Efton Chisholm, the third for the game-winning touch. Did you guys see that Moschats? No, but seriously, I think Drake May, to me, he's been outstanding this year. The next player and team. Can we do player and team? Yes, we can. Deshaun Watson and the Browns? Who in their right mind? would have thought that Deshaun would have the Browns at three and one atop the
Starting point is 00:34:04 AFC North. Not me. Not me. Three straight weeks. He has led a go-ahead drive in the fourth quarter for a third straight week. The one thing I really like about Deshaun is he's not going to be like this ultimate pocket passer, but what he is doing, he's actually staying away from sacks at a really high clip, in my opinion. He's able to move a little bit, and he's keeping his head down the field. He's also running the football really well. I think the Browns defense is legit. I think this is, I think this team is sustainable.
Starting point is 00:34:35 Like you look at their core, and their core players from Juckins to Harold Fanon to both of the rookie receivers, like Denzel Boston, Casey Concepcion, like they got the Jets next week. Who had the Browns possibly being four and one? I just want to like, there's been a lot of off-the-field stuff going on with the Browns and Watson. and yes, the Browns have two first round picks next year and this quarterback class from college, it's real.
Starting point is 00:35:04 I don't even want to talk about that right now. There's a lot of people talking about that. I don't even want to talk about this. I just want to enjoy the fact that Browns fans have not booed Deshawn Watson. All right, we talked about them, but trending up Ben Johnson, the Bears can win with anyone at quarterback. We talked about it. I don't want to spend a lot of time here,
Starting point is 00:35:20 but the last two games without Caleb Williams. Two and O, Case Keenham, Tyson, Bejant, get this, combined, 49 of 68, 515 yards, 50 total points. That's without your starter. That's with your quarterback three. That's with your quarterback two. They're relying on the run game a lot, as they should, 360 rush yards in the last two games.
Starting point is 00:35:41 Offense hasn't missed a beat, though, and the defense has only allowed 19 points. That's what you want, and we talked about it, with a team that doesn't have their starter. We know points you're going to be at a premium. Can you hold, can this defense hold? yes, I think when Caleb Williams gets back, other than the 49ers, which we talked about, they could be the best-looking team in the entire N-S-E. All right, let's get a trending down.
Starting point is 00:36:05 I don't really do negative stuff a lot, but I'm going to do some negative stuff early. Aaron Rogers and Mike McCarthy. Did you see the comment? What in the world was that? Like, called him an a-hole, and Rogers is like doing his thing and showing up Mike McCarthy and stuff like that. These two are like an old married couple. You're going to have moments where they're yelling at each other's throats. I think Rogers has played pretty well in this offense. But Rogers yelling, call the effing play. Camera switches to McCarthy saying, there's a lot of cussing.
Starting point is 00:36:35 I don't like to cussing. But that's all-time quarterback and head coach communication. I like the way Aaron Rogers is playing. I think they've got to figure this out. And you can tell that McCarthy in the press conference after was like, ah, shouldn't have caught up. There's always, if you're watching the show and you're young, there's always people watching.
Starting point is 00:36:52 Be careful with what you say. All right, let's get to, oh my God, Mike McDaniel, Justin Herbert, what's going on? What in the world is going on? I have no clue. Herbert first played the game pick, ended up throwing two picks, getting sacked four times, under pressure the entire game, got hit nine times. Offense just looks so out of sorts. Herbert does not look comfortable whatsoever.
Starting point is 00:37:18 If you remember Mike McDaniel was supposed to be the savior for Justin Herbert. He was supposed to make Justin Herbert better. Justin Herbert has regressed. Now, who do they have a receiver other than Ladd McConkey? Those two tackles are pretty good. That offense, though, like, okay, I'm right in Hampton, okay? But you need studs. Quinn Johnson's not a stud receiver.
Starting point is 00:37:39 He's a good receiver. You don't have anyone that can separate. And I'm not saying I'm blaming all the other pieces and not blaming Justin because Justin has not played well at all. Something's got to change, though. Like something has to change quickly. the fact that they're o' and four, like I played for Justin or with Justin.
Starting point is 00:37:57 I played for the Chargers. That's the worst feeling in the world. Definitely. If we had two arrows down, down, that's them. All right. Last one. Nick Siriani, coaching decisions. He is definitely trending down.
Starting point is 00:38:14 He single-handedly lost at Eagles this game. Some of the coaching decisions he made, let's just go through him. This isn't a normal occurrence, but it happens more often than you think. Head coaches, in my opinion, if you're not calling offense, if you're not calling defense, your job next year only is to manage the game. Sometimes things go paywire, sometimes things go wrong. It happens more likely than not.
Starting point is 00:38:39 Let's just go over. We have the opportunity to go up 13 in the fourth quarter. Went for it from the five-yard line and didn't get it. I can't tell you how much that I do not like head coaches. I know they're probably taking analytics. Take the points. Guess what? Rans went 98 yards and six plays to make it a three point game. He also went for it on their own 38 yard line, didn't get it. Did he realize that he didn't have Lane Johnson, he didn't have Sequin Barclay, he didn't have DeVantis Smith. Those are three of his best players at every position group. And you are making these decisions.
Starting point is 00:39:13 I just, it doesn't, like I'm not the one out there. I played a few years. So I've had some pretty good figuring out and explanations of what's happening. The Eagles had 172 yards of total offense. That's their lowest total in a game the last 12 years. Eagles fans are imploding. Like I can't even imagine, like Philly fans, like I can't even imagine what's going on here. 68 net passing yards.
Starting point is 00:39:35 Lowest total on a regular season in the last 23 years. Not good. That's the training up and training down section. Now let's get to what I like to call good ball, bad ball. My good ball winner of the week, and we talked about him, it's C.D. Lamb. helmet stickers, good ball, game ball, whatever you want to do. We're doing good ball award, though.
Starting point is 00:39:53 C.D. Lamb, 17 catches 189 yards in the game-winning touchdown on the sickest route ever. We talked about it in the open. Why are they playing outside leverage? I don't get it. I don't understand it. Boom. Got a little post hits that. The biggest thing that I think about this guy, him and Dak Prescott are single handling carrying the Cowboys.
Starting point is 00:40:12 That's why the Cowboys have won these games. 21 targets. I don't think you understand just how difficult that is to be targeted 21 times, almost half the past plays that the Cowboys through.
Starting point is 00:40:28 But congratulations, the first annual or first week ever, you win my good ball award, and yes, we are going to get the bad ball award. I'm not even going to spend a whole bunch of time on it.
Starting point is 00:40:37 Nick Siriani. Nick Siriani, we talked about it. You, single-handed the last Eagles game, you are my first annual, first weekly loser of that or can we call it a winner if it's bad ball he's the winner of the bad ball award and let's finish off the show we did the two-minute drill last time there's just a lot of stuff going on in the NFL from the cowboys everyone else let's just talk about some of the actual things that have been happening joe burrow what is happening dude jemar chase had a concussion the jacksonville jaguars i think
Starting point is 00:41:09 are for real but you have 10 penalties for 100 yards in the first half Cincinnati it's most since Cowboys in 2023 since week 13. Tyler Murray looked better. Vikings won with five field goals, moved to 4-0. I thought he looked really good in the second half. I thought this Vikings team, this is what you want. Out of a starting quarterback, I think it's really good. How about the commanders playing the third-string quarterback from Rutgers?
Starting point is 00:41:31 He was throwing some dimes, though. Marcus Murray got hurt. Now you're without Jane Daniels. Now you're without Marcus Mayor. to hope he's okay. Commanders. David Blow, first-time play caller. Ah, stinks.
Starting point is 00:41:41 James Swenson. then 250 yards, three touchdowns, and the Giants, and I think one of the more entertaining games, Giants versus Cardinals, Malik neighbors had over 100 yards. That's the James Winston that we know and love. James got a lot of crap this week. And weeks past, like, oh, you know, you trade for Jay-J McCarthy. U.S., hey, man, congratulations.
Starting point is 00:41:59 Biggest thing, too, we didn't really cover this, but it's a big deal. Lamar Jackson looked amazing. Didn't play in the second half, do an ankle injury in their win against the Titans, and somehow, some way, the Packers barely, which I think the Packers are one of the worst. teams in the NFL. They snuck by the bucks and quarterback Jaylon Daniels with their backup.
Starting point is 00:42:17 But yeah, I hope you like the show. We're going to go through five games like this. We're going to do game ball winners. We're going to do all this stuff. This is the first three. Make sure you like and subscribe. I don't like saying that, but like it's very easy. Like, subscribe, do all the show. We're going to break down three quarterbacks tomorrow on the breakdown show on my YouTube channel. Thank you so much, man. We will see you next week.
