Hey guys, it's us
The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Just listen.
We don't care where you hear it.
Your 20s can be so exciting, but they can also be really overwhelming, confusing, and honestly, just kind of lonely.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the psychology of your 20s is breaking down the science behind the biggest roadblocks we face.
I was six years into my career, the 80-hour weeks, and just the first one in, the last one out, and I ended up burning out.
There was a large chunk of my 20s that I, like, was just so wanting to, like, be out of that phase out of my skin.
And I just like really regret not living in the present more.
You don't need to have everything figured out right now.
You just need to understand yourself a little bit better.
Listen to the psychology of your 20s on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to another episode of Bustin with the Boys.
I believe this is episode 197.
am I correct in saying that?
That's outstanding, boys.
We are slowly creeping up.
Coming up on 200.
Coming up on 200.
Just a bus and a small dream.
You got a nice surprise for 200?
Oh, I think 200 people are going to really enjoy that.
They're absolutely going to enjoy that.
Another thing you might enjoy is the playoff season.
And well, the playoffs are upon us, but one team has already won at all.
That team is the Chevy and its star player, the Silverado, a truck with unstoppable
grit and determination.
According to JD Power, Chevy trucks have earned more new vehicle.
the awards and any other brand.
And that's some serious hardware.
Do the boys of favor.
Head over to Chevy.com to learn more Silverado,
as strong and dependable as people who drive them.

Now I am, I will say, this weekend.
Big weekend.
Big weekend.
Big weekend.
I came home from New York.
I was out with the family yesterday.
And I did do a little drive-by at a Chevy dealership.
and I saw a little piece I liked.
What was it?
What kind of piece you liked?
I've always wanted a diesel.
I've always wanted a diesel.
And I saw a 20, a 2023 Chevy Silverado,
Durhamax, 2,500 high country.
And that thing was fucking nice, dude.
Did you get the blood flow below the belt?
It did.
I got the fever right now for a truck because I am in the market,
for those of you wondering,
which I don't know why you would wonder.
But I am in the market for.
I'm wanting to buy that.
Yeah. What's he up to right now?
I bet he wants a truck.
I don't want to spend that money.
I think it was a new Chevy silver ride.
I do want to.
Because the vehicle I'm driving right now is unfortunately not a Chevy.
And I would love to get back on that Chevy program.
Obviously, you've heard that we dropped.
Do we talk about how we?
I had the Rocky Ridge for a little bit.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But you also bought what's the Chevy like?
The van?
Yeah, no, yeah.
The family vehicle.
Oh, the suburban.
Yeah.
Yeah, we have the suburban for the family.
That's for the kids.
Take him to school.
Bring them back to school.
we want to go to the park.
Car seat's staying in there.
Now, the truck I had before Chevy
graced us with their presence
as a presenting sponsor in this podcast,
I was not driving a Chevy.
And even before then, I thought to myself,
you know, I have always enjoyed the look of a Chevy Silverado.
But my whole family, they always grew up driving something different,
so I felt like I had to.
I needed to.
Now, what a way for me to change my situation.
If I'm going to be gritty, I need to lean into the grit.
I need to lean into the grit.
Because the boys have legit been gritty this 20-23 season.
Very gritty.
We have gotten after it.
We've worked through injuries,
which I'm proud of you, by the way.
Are you talking about my back?
I'm talking about your back.
Yeah.
And I know.
A lot of people are coming after me.
A lot of people are coming after me for the back.
People love to punch up, buddy.
Yeah, they do.
People love to punch up.
They didn't see you in that gym like I did.
I, like, there's a part of me that understands, like, ultimately,
we all want to have a great time with the boys and have a great time having some drinks,
doing a tank race, enjoying the camaraderie.
That's where I feel like it's coming from.
Yeah.
We didn't get that.
We missed out a lot.
I had fomo.
I had high fomo.
Yeah.
I was taking a lot of shots.
I appreciate you standing.
I appreciate you standing up for me.
And you did.
Like, you were witnessing me walking around.
I was winning to see you walking around.
And every time they said something on the tinker,
so I like to think that I now got a little fuzzy towards the end.
But I like to think that I supported the boy through and through.
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
I couldn't believe that Big Cat was turning on me with the way he was.
You know how Big Cat can get, though.
I know.
It's all for good jokes.
It's all for ball busting.
It's all, it's in the spirit of ball busing.
Right.
Being in the locker room, busing the boys' balls.
You know, anytime you get hurt in the locker room,
you're kind of like...
You guys did a neckpad thing for a while.
Exactly.
If you were injured, oh, DB, you're just doing walkthrough day.
You're not practicing.
Low-key jealous that, like, you have to practice.
Yeah, especially if it's a Wednesday early in the season.
And then in the walk-through, we'd make...
In the lineback room, we'd make guys wear a neck brace to show that, like, that, you know...
If, hey, if you're just going to do the walk-through, you're like, you gotta...
You got to wear something that shows you're going to be in a pus.
Yeah, being a puff, dude.
Yeah.
An absolute puff.
I get it.
I was...
How'd you enjoy your tank race?
I thought I had a lot...
I had a lot of fun.
Now, I know when you did the tank race back in June or July,
um,
2020,
I had an amazing amount of foam.
I'm like, wow,
what a good time.
And when I'm like,
hey,
let's do a case race,
let's do a case race.
Let's do a case race.
There's a long big cat about it.
He hits his ups,
okay,
we're going to do a case race.
You guys come in for the wildcard weekend.
You watch the games with us,
blah, blah,
obviously I didn't stay for the wild card stuff for the sole reason that
there is gambling involved and we were going to put up a graphic saying that I wasn't
gambling.
but at the end of the day,
it turns into the same thing
that happened to year 10.
You don't want to fall into those situations.
I don't want to get got to.
You know, I see,
I see what my boy,
my, like,
Godel did you.
Right.
And I'm like,
that's just crazy.
Why would I give him another opportunity?
You see the hurdles at the league.
Right.
Trying to go through just to keep me out of the league.
It's crazy too.
Yeah.
Absolutely crazy.
So I actually pulled into Barstow on Friday.
I thought the vibes were going to be up.
The vibes were actually a little bit low on Friday afternoon.
Now we've never been in the building on
Friday. You talking about at HQ?
At HQ. And I'm kind of...
It was cloudy out. Yeah, it was a regular
January day in New York, New York.
Yeah.
The regular January day in New York, New York.
Yeah, that's what I mean, that's what it was.
And so I pull up in there and I'm kind of
getting the vibe that like,
I don't feel like people really are into this
right now. Now, I was
happily mistaken.
Because all of a sudden, Kate, who
was our star player in our team,
brings out all the stuff. She's making the
things. And basically, it's just a lot of, it's diabetes with a little bit of alcohol in it.
And I am dreading this. Legit in the chat with Big Cat, I'm like, hey, can we just do a case race?
Yeah. But let me just sling 12 beers.
You're thinking all this sugar. I'm thinking all the sugar. I'm trying to get Jack, 21 and 3.
Yes. So me and Roan make the decision.
We're going to go to the liquor store across the street. We're going to get a handle of tequila.
And we're going to add that to it and kind of take out some of the sugar. Now, was that a good decision?
I like to think so. Yes. I like to think so. Because I don't.
Because I would much rather have more alcohol in there than more sugar.
So we do that.
What?
I'm just thinking, I much rather have more alcohol than sugar.
Like, no, I don't want the candy bar.
Give me a shot.
Yeah, exactly, dude.
And it was a really good time because I mentioned a row and like, hey, vibes seem a little bit down.
He goes, yeah, the vibes are down, but I guarantee as soon as we start, it's going to be awesome.
So we start the show, it was great.
After the case race, a lot of, like, scaries the next day.
Yeah, and your boy was, I legit scaries this morning.
Yeah.
And it's Monday.
I've been on the phone.
I've, like, said a couple stories where I've laughed, and you're like, hey, I'm getting
a little of anxiety.
You're saying that.
Yeah, because you think, like, I'm a very open individual.
But I feel like when you're drunk, now you're just the guy that's, like, talking too much.
You know what I'm saying?
So, obviously, I was telling the story.
Yeah.
Because I was trying to tell a story about how I got you a brick watch.
And Tarot also got you a brick watch.
Yes, but during the story in my head, I'm like, I don't want to, like, sound like I'm
soiling Charo.
So I start going on this rampage by my life.
It was the bad.
It was hilarious.
And that's like the only thing.
What a wonderful woman.
You're like saying all these things.
I know, dude, because I'm like really trying to overcompensate
because I don't want Char to catch stray bullets in a story.
She's watching the tank.
Yeah, like, she's actually going to wash a tape or something.
And then Will's like, yeah, you were like the drunk guy telling your life story.
And I'm like, fuck, dude, I was, wasn't I?
Because that's really when shit started to get a little hazy for me.
Then I was like really like drunk.
Yeah.
But I everybody was.
Everybody was.
The hard part is you're in those four walls.
Everyone is drunk.
Like you're having a night with the fellas.
You're just having a great group of guys, by the way.
It just happens to be live and on camera to where everybody else,
the hundreds of thousands that end up watching it,
are like sober just watching it for entertainment.
And everybody's kind of like, oh, this person reacted this way,
that person reacted, not taking an account like,
hey, everybody's just trying to have a good old time,
have some drinks and fucking enjoy some camaraderie.
Sometimes it gets hazy.
Like last time Stephen Shea almost fought Shane.
People were like, you know, ragging on.
I want to say it was like, maybe a little sass.
I know Shane, like, wanted to off himself.
He kept telling you, he's like,
bro, I fucking hate being here.
Like, I wish I could take that case race back so bad.
Yeah, blah, ball, like, for like a week straight.
And it's one of those deals.
But at the end of the day, like, it's Monday.
We're 72 hours post tank race.
I would do it again.
Yeah.
It was so much fun.
I really wish the boy was there and I understand you couldn't be there.
But damn, that I wish you were there.
After, you know, you guys have been out of me when I drink.
Like, I don't, for those of you who think, like, I drink a lot, I'm a fucking, I'm a fucking.
I'm a phony, bro.
I am an absolute phony.
So, like, when I do drink, though, I am legit trying to kill everyone around me with alcohol
poisoning and myself included.
So the boys, like, want to go to this, like, pool hall after this.
We go in, we're playing beer pong.
Tommy smokes is there.
And I just start funneling shots in the boys.
Get, dude, I am drunk, like, like, stumbling, drunk.
Get in the cab.
I get a text from a Wantan Don.
and he's like, hey, you left your card here
and the tabs open.
So I think, fuck man, if I don't get it now.
Like, this is the logical thing, which I'm proud of.
If I don't get this shit now,
I am never going to get that card back again.
Yeah.
And who knows what's going to happen to that card
or how it's going to get, you know, by the next morning.
So I get down there, dude, and I'll see all the boys.
They're all still cutting it up, having a good time.
So then the logic went out the window.
I'm going to still cut it up, dude.
So we had a couple more drinks.
Bro.
I walked up that.
billiard spot, dude, hit a quick corner,
found myself a little nook dude and yacked everywhere.
Oh, you yacked again.
A third time.
The tank race was legit like,
you know you're on camera,
but then after a while you don't know you're on camera.
And then when people start bringing up throwing up,
you realize again, I'm on camera.
I can't be throwing up.
But once it seemed like an option...
I'm already drinking liquor.
Yeah, but once the option came up,
I think someone said, someone threw up first.
I think it was Big Cat.
Yeah.
And I was like, good.
I'm going to throw up too.
Because then you think that'll be funny.
So you throw up.
And then we threw up again at the end of the show.
And I'm like, I'm like in my head like, oh, you're probably not even drunk anymore, dude.
You're probably fine now.
And then I legit like consuming too much alcohol.
Get back on 10.
Yeah.
Get back on 10, dude.
Get back on 10 with the boys.
End up walking like, I don't know, 12 blocks back to my hotel room.
Just absolutely.
Wow.
Anyway, bro.
Well, if not, it felt like it, I'm sure.
Oh, yeah.
It could have been a five-minute walk for all I know.
New York City.
Dude, I walked by this food truck.
No one.
Like, I walked by two food trucks.
I was like, bro, I'm going to smack some of that food.
But there was lines.
Like five people waiting in a line.
I'm like, I cannot wait for that.
There's no way.
Did you?
No.
I kept walking.
Right before I get to the hotel, there's one food truck with no one there.
And I'm like, and then I'm like, this is a great idea to eat this.
Got some Philly cheese steak looking thing, I think.
Was it talking big shit?
It was talking the most shit, dude.
I'm surprised you let that food get away with what they said when you walk by that line.
earlier.
It was really about the people.
It was the crowd.
Usually you don't turn down when food's talking shit to you.
Yeah.
You got to handle it.
When it says something, dude, especially about my friends and my family, like it needs to catch hands.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But this food truck in particular, like it was all by itself.
I look and he feel like I jumped this person.
Like I mugged this food truck.
Yeah.
Got the food, was eating it.
Go buy some like little deli.
And I noticed they have pints of Ben and Jerry's in there.
So your boy had to sneak in there too.
What did say?
It said, hey, bud.
Say, hey, fat ass.
Hey, you piece of shit.
You won't do nothing.
You're not getting Jack 2023.
You won't do nothing to me.
I said, you don't think I can eat you and not get Jack at 2020?
He said, bet pussy.
So I grabbed it.
I grabbed that I'm standing in line.
This heavyset individual looks over.
And I don't know what it is, man.
But this dude was batting for the other team, we'll say.
And he was trying to put a hole in one in me.
Oh, Joey and the boy showed up.
No, what in Joey.
It was a different.
Joe Kamas and the boys hold up on you.
Yeah, what a Joey Kamasas was.
sent out to come get me.
And I was like, but at first I didn't realize.
Joey says he got an extra shot for you in his mind.
I know.
Hey, I would have made that mistake probably.
Who knows, though, right?
He, uh, yeah, he, this dude, like, is talking to me.
And at first time, I'm like, wow, people in New York are actually super nice.
This is crazy.
Because you always hear, like, people in Northeast are assholes.
Yeah.
And I'm about to order.
Yeah, he wanted this asshole.
I sit there and I'm like, I was like, uh, looking at more food because I was like,
legit, is this shit talking?
shit too? Is this about the kitchen pants?
Because I saw some dude in the back, absolutely
like botching that thing back there, getting after
it. And then after a while I realized, oh,
this dude's trying to fuck me. Do you want to
like share a hot dog or something? No, he's like,
where are you from? What's you doing? Like, where are you going
after this? And then I, like, stopped in it. I was
like, oh, this dude's trying
to lay pipe on me right now. You answered? You told him
where you were going? What room were in? This is my hotel
room, this? Yeah, let
them know. But, um,
I don't know. Make sure you get home. I got out of there.
I got out of there.
And then I went home and, bro, I think I slept for 12 hours.
But you know how that is when you sleep.
You ain't sleeping.
You're just your eyes closed your eyes.
Yeah, you just closed your eyes.
Then you don't know what happened.
I know.
And the next day I woke up, boys and girls, if you were under the age of 25, like count your blessings.
Because when you drink after the age of 25, especially when you hit 30,
death is upon you.
Jackie, like, do you get hung over like that?
Yeah, I'd say so.
I'm 28 now, so.
Only gets worse, brother.
It only gets worse.
It has progressively gotten worse.
I remember in college, you just, you go out on like a Friday night.
You had like maybe one class and you're drinking at 1 p.m.
Then you go all the way.
And then Saturday you wake up and you just bounce back.
You're like, maybe you feel a little nauseous for a sec.
And then it's like, no.
Oh, you celebrate it.
Yeah.
It's almost like, yeah, I'm getting the age.
I'm getting a little older.
Like, look at me.
Like, little scruff in there.
But no, once you get to college, yeah, 25, I think it's a good measurement.
Right.
When you hit the backside of your 20s, it's fall down.
Hell forever.
Forever.
No, more than anything, too.
Bro, but yeah.
And then that Saturday, dude,
the thing I wanted to do the most
was go to that bathhouse.
And I ended up going with Nicky.
And this dude name,
fuck, what was the name?
The bath house with Nick Tarani?
Nick?
Yes, yes.
Awesome.
I went with him and his boy, Donnie.
He does the cooking.
And he used to work.
Chef Donnie.
He's on the booze.
He's on the booze ponies.
He was.
Yeah, sure, Donnie.
He was, but he was the one that left.
He's an emergency backup.
Buddy, he's so cool.
He was talking about skydiving.
He's like,
skydiving, like 87 times,
like getting his license and stuff like that.
Juan Donnie,
he's like a traveler,
like a worldly guy, you know?
No, no, no, it wasn't Juan Ton Don.
I know you're talking about Chef Donnie.
Okay, yeah, yeah, I'm talking about Chef Donnie.
Yeah, so we spent like three hours in this bathhouse,
dude, just sweating out all the demons.
And legit, I was like talking to God halfway through.
Like, Nick was talking to me, like, just talking.
How funny is Nick?
He's fucking hilarious.
But he was also talking.
He's fucking about it.
Yeah.
Is next level.
Yeah.
I really think,
I'm excited to see what he does
in the next like five,
10 years.
Yeah.
Because I feel like he's going to blow up.
Yeah.
He's a stud.
And it was fun to be around them.
But you know how it is when you're hung over too?
You're like,
I really don't feel like talking to nobody.
But at the end of it,
I was like grateful because I was like,
man,
I would have just sat in that Russian bath house by myself.
And it was fucking packed.
Packed.
Pucked.
Just heavy set guys with towels on.
Heavy set dudes with chains.
So, like,
there was a shitload of tatted people.
Shit like,
tatted head to toe.
Oh, God.
It's kind of scary.
I'm tatted.
And I was legit like, hey, am I going to be,
I think I got our friends here.
Yeah, I know, right?
They might have recruited you if you were alone.
No, I might have been, I might have not came back.
I might have just been living in New York now.
New York, New York.
So it was a good fucking weekend.
You got back on the plane, got some sleep.
It was a nice little deal.
That's nice.
But I heard you, Beast came in town this weekend.
The Beast came in town, yeah.
I mean, Caleb lives here, but Jeff Shottie.
Jeff Shottie, we call him Shottie.
but the big big beast he's the beast he's the beast we hung out we watched the games we watched ball
all weekend i missed all the ball hit up the pancake pantry um Saturday morning yeah
you get to wait in the line no we went at like eight in the morning because kids
we were trying to beat like the line usually then that's like when it was starting that's when
it was starting we fortunately got in there in time yeah uh had myself a nice little chocolate milk
you know how it goes as you as anyone should like a king should did the number the number
recovery drink or the never one a workout recovery drink.
Cuckle milk.
That's what they say, dude.
That's what my bar was told me when I first got to Michigan.
Right when you get there, bro.
A hit pounded chocolate right after your workouts.
Right after.
Some of you're trying to gain weight.
They give you one of them Gatorade chicks in mid-workout.
Hey, drink this right now.
Oh.
Yeah, dude.
What about, did you catch any of a super wildcar weekend?
Dude, I really didn't.
I obviously saw the clips.
And I did tweet this out.
I'm happy for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Bro, that was a phenomenal comeback by them.
Yeah.
They were down bad.
It was 27 nothing.
And I saw...
Justin Lawrence threw four picks.
Trevor.
Trevor.
I keep saying Justin, don't I?
You keep telling all the wrong names for QVs, but it's almost like we need to...
It's almost funny.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Cody Purdy last time.
Cody Purney?
Yeah.
I heard from a very reliable source that it will not say that Brock Purdy sucks.
He just has mutants around him.
And that's why he's successful.
Well, and then I was showed evidence.
Like, so...
subjectively sucks.
Like, what are we talking here?
Sucks like, hey, we can go to the quarterback of the 49ers?
You know.
Like, he's being made to be much better than he actually is.
I did not say that.
And I know we joke about that.
I legit did not say that.
Someone told me that.
And they put on film when they're like, watch this game.
Watch all these throws.
And they were pointing out some stuff.
I was like, damn.
Because there was one over the middle.
Dude was wide open.
Would have been touchdown.
A couple of, he has some studs in front of.
Like, that team is the most stacked team in the NFL, other than quarterback.
The two best overall teams are the 49ers and the Eagles.
If you're looking at the Chiefs, the Bengals, who else?
Got a phenomenal.
Fingles, Bills, Tampa.
Fingles, Bills, let's start with there.
If you remove their quarterback, yeah, their teams not winning another, probably not,
most likely not winning, going any farther in the playoffs.
Yeah.
In the 49ers.
As well, right?
No, they were still winning.
Gardner Minshu, he could still, he can still slinging.
I mean, they got some, they're surrounded by,
Beasts on that team.
They got a lot of talent.
They have beasts everywhere on that team.
But the Niners, you almost just need a facilitator.
They've showed you they're on their third quarterback this year.
Third.
You could argue, too, that the offense has never looked this good either.
So that's what I'm saying.
It's like, yeah, maybe he's, quote unquote, shitty, but he's still dishing like three, four
touchdowns a game for a rookie for a seventh round pick.
They never scored 41.
Yeah.
He's Mr. Relevant.
Yeah, he's Mr. Relevant.
He's the last pick in the draft.
That, to me, makes me want to cheer for the 49ers.
Dude, same.
Relevant can win.
The Super Bowl, imagine how many kids, you know, whatever age they're at.
Like, that gives hope to a lot of kids.
Yeah.
It's like another, like, you know, not saying he's Tom Brady,
because I know how that I can get taken out of context,
but it's like one of those Brady stories he was drafting the sixth round.
Like, yeah, it's like, okay, he sucks, but it's like, well, he wasn't a first round.
It wasn't, it's not like he's a first round draft pick.
Not saying that seventh rounders suck, but they're not,
for him to go in there is the last pick of the draft and ball.
I mean, I saw a stat.
their first five starts as a 49er.
He had 11 touchdowns to Joe Montana and Steve Young's like six and seven.
Yeah, something crazy like that.
It's like, yo, you're just rooting for the dude because he's like he's the underdog.
It's like the story that everybody loves, the old underdog story.
And to play against the narrative I was told too is it is only his first five starts in the NFL as a rookie.
Right.
Like he legit could be, I mean, he's going to get better.
People just get better.
I mean, think about those, think about those guys at practice.
starting the year, if he was on practice squad or he's probably not even taking reps or he's just in the scout team.
He's just doing cards.
He's in the back while the team's going, like doing mimicking off air.
And then to go in that week and take over a team, now obviously it's a well-oiled machine.
Like the Niners are dangerous.
Dangerous.
But you still got to operate, but in Shanahan system and with all that talent around you, you just kind of need an operator.
You don't need, you know, the Josh Allen's of the world.
They've built their roster everywhere else around the quarterback.
It's impressive.
Niners are tough, man.
I think that I like the Niners to win at all.
I think they're my Super Bowl pick.
I think the Niners are my Super Bowl pick.
What about Tampa Bay?
No.
I think now this comes out.
This is coming out right now.
The game happened last night.
We're recording Monday morning.
Yeah, it's Monday afternoon.
I think if they win this game, I think this is where they stop.
Like, I think they could come out, beat the Cowboys.
Who would they play next?
49ers.
Now, here's what I was told.
And this is from this source that I'm talking about.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers can do a great job of just playing man coverage
and still getting pressure on the quarterback and making Purdy
throw, elite throws.
Yeah, yeah, I'm sure.
And that could be a downfall of Purdy.
I hope, I am hoping watching this playoffs.
I hope the 49ers win the Super Bowl.
And I'll go with you on that.
Who do you think got the best shot to win the Super Bowl?
Super Bowl.
I think it's
dude,
it's a,
I mean,
Bill's,
Chiefs,
Niners,
Eagles are like
the four teams I would
You know who
I think can make
some noise?
The Giants.
Oh.
I was about to say
the Jags.
I think the Jags
good too on the
AFC side.
I'm talking like
maybe actually
hit a little
Super Bowl run
the Giants.
Because I think
what's the head coach's
name?
Dayball.
Dayball?
Dayball.
Dayball.
I think he's got,
I think the team
fucking loves
mine for him.
Daniel Jones, he was shredding it last night against the Vikings.
But they could, it's like, it's like they could have hit this spark right at the right time.
You know what I mean?
Like have all the kind of pieces and kind of make a run.
Now, again, they would have to get past the Niners and the Eagles.
I think Eagles, Niners, they're fucking tough, top to bottom.
And then on the AFC side, you have Mahomes, you got Josh Allen with the Bills,
Joe Burrow with the Bengals.
But again, the Jaguars could even make some noise too.
I think the Jaguars make some noise.
I don't think they get passed.
either the Chiefs or the Bills.
But I think the road ends with one of those too.
Could be this week.
But I can legit see the Jaguars beating the Chiefs.
Like sneaking one in there on the Chiefs?
Yeah.
Because they had a buy week.
Yeah.
And you know how it is.
Last year, the Titans, dude.
2021 Titans.
Gary.
I think one of those teams, Eagles or Chiefs,
could go down next Saturday or Sunday.
Now, the good thing about having a buy week with the Chiefs is they've been there.
They've gone through the playoffs.
They've made it all the way.
They know what that process is like.
So that might not be as much of a factor for them as it would be
It was like for the Titans or
You know name any other one C team the the Ravens in 2019
Like you never know
But I could see the I can see the Jags of possibly winning this one
I don't think they win the aFC South or the AFC championship
But bro
This is a good setup of teams
AFC I mean Bengals chiefs bills like the top three there
And then Eagles 49ers
I think that's going to be, if they, the 49ers and the Eagles both make it,
it would be in the NFC championship, correct?
The one two seed?
I think that is an elite game.
That's going to be so much fun for people to watch.
I think it's going to be tough to beat the Niners.
I think they got the fucking formula.
I think they got the pieces.
Yeah.
I think they're believing.
They were almost there.
Big Cock Brock, dude.
Big Cock Brock Purdy.
Yeah.
That's what the, somebody had a sign out there because talking about Big Cock Brock.
Big Cock Brock.
Yeah.
Back to what you were saying about Tampa Bay.
The Fort Brock Purdy went against that same Tampa Bay team, I want to say three weeks ago
and went 16 for 21, 185, and two touchdowns.
So whatever they tried on that first game, it didn't matter.
He still got past them.
I think it might be worse this time.
Which game?
The 49ers versus Buccaneers.
If they see each other again, they played, I want to say three weeks.
ago. Yeah. I mean, Bucks, I mean, you know, Bucks could be hot at the right time, man. I mean,
Tom Brady's been dishing it. And Jensen's playing it ever since that divorce, bro.
Jensen's playing today. Yeah, that's true. That's just crazy, bro.
That's insane that he's playing like five months after having partial tears and on however many,
whatever, however many ligaments, I saw multiple ligaments to his knee, including the ACL.
That is crazy. Our guest is going to be on next week, just got to the bus, so we should wrap it up
pretty soon. Do you want to tease that?
A tease next week?
Tease next week?
I don't want to tease it too much.
If there was a teaser, you know, there's a lot to look forward to.
Let's just say vintage 90s, black shirts, that's all I'll give you.
Oh, dude, that was elite. That was an elite teaser.
Because we have our banger guests, obviously, I think it's going to do, be very highly
viewed with Derek Henry coming on the bus.
Yeah.
That's our guest today, who is, you know, obviously the king.
We talk about a lot of good shit.
Yeah, we need to hit our shout-out, no-free shout-out.
Do we do it to your talk, or do we kind of...
I think we'll put...
We'll do what we talked about before.
Okay.
Before we do our shout-out, no-free shout-out,
what are your two teams, the NFC championship,
AFC championship?
I think if I was, you know, if I'm on bet the bus,
I would say,
Eagles, Niners will be the NFC Championship and the AFC Championship.
I'm going to say, who's playing?
Who's set to play next week?
I'm going to say Bill's and Jaguars.
You will die on that sword, bro.
And Jaguars, I think you're going to be in the ASTChry.
Just got to keep going through it with Will Compton.
But I will say, because the Chiefs were after you and the mentions,
If the Jags pulled out, you have them on a leash for the rest of the year.
For the rest of the year.
That's a good point, Jackie.
They kept the receipts on me saying the division of winners.
They were going in the minute the season over.
Yeah, there's no going back too.
So it's like one more shot and it's you.
I like your NFC picks, but I got to go, that Bengals-Bowls game, I think, is going to be intense.
But the Bengals broke my heart last year.
So I might be speaking emotionally, but I'm going Chiefs bills in the AFC chance.
Bill's what are you going
NFC same NFC I'm going to go Niners Eagles
I think Niners
go back to the Super Bowl
I think and if the bills in the Chiefs play
they play in Atlanta correct
both teams travel well
I'm gonna go I'm gonna go with the bills
in the Super Bowl against the Niners
we still get another week to talk about it too
yeah true that's true and it might change right
everything subject to change here probably won't change
but until next week
we'll get into it then
man if the Jags upset the
Chiefs.
Congratulations.
Hey, congratulations.
I'm with you, dude.
Victory laps the way
Emmanuel Acho is hitting victory laughs
on the Chargers losing.
That was a little...
What's up?
Oh, Mitch,
climb to the back of the bus.
I know.
I'm sure the glosses
showing the camera back there.
Dude got on the step stool
back there to say
that it's not going to happen.
You don't need to say anything.
I know you believe the Chiefs
are going to win.
Odds and everything else.
Yes, we understand
this is like David versus Goliath
matchup. But the Jaguars could
have a little bit of that magic in that second half from coming
back. So you never know.
Anything you want to reflect on with the Derek Henry
episode? Let's see.
Getting to a lot of cool stuff
with Derek, he tells me, he goes on a nice little
spiel about mental health. I think it's going to be
very effective for a lot of people that
just think that football players don't deal with stuff
especially ones as elite as Derek.
I think they'll really have something to resonate with that.
And in the same breath, not thinking
like, oh, people need to be like, oh, these guys
Yeah.
You know, feel sorry for the spots that we're in.
Like, we understand that.
Just talking the scope of like...
It's understanding that everyone goes through something.
Correct.
Whether you're on a pedestal in life or you're not in a pedestal life,
people go through stuff all the time.
And I think it's a cool little insight to see how...
Derek views things or sees how stuff happens.
What else?
Talks about the season.
I asked him about, hey, when dudes get hurt,
how does that affect you from a mental standpoint?
I mean, obviously Derek puts a lot of pressure on himself.
Yeah.
That was a phenomenal thing.
And I think one thing that we need to start pushing maybe to Derek Henry is possibly getting Will Compton in a Derek Henry Jersey.
Or maybe I might have to hook him up with a Will Compton.
He doesn't have one?
He doesn't.
He hasn't made my list.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
He's working his way into my tight circle, though.
Also, I feel like something I want to get ahead of because I know a lot of people were on us when we asked Derek Combs, you got paid from Bama last time.
You will hear Bama fans.
you might not enjoy what me and we'll have to say to Derek during this.
Just know it's all in good fun, boys.
But Georgia Bulldogs are the king of the SEC.
I'd like to get ahead of something too.
Bamma, I meant every fucking thing that I said.
Should I hit a quick shout-out, no-free shout-out?
The quickest shout-out, no-frey shout-out of all time.
I'm going to shout out.
Blas, you go first.
My shout-out this week just goes to those fans who stay,
loyalty to their teams, regardless of the record,
regardless of the ups and downs.
All right, Jack, what's your shout on it?
Really?
All right, boss.
Mine goes to traveling situations,
whether someone books like a hotel room for you
or specifically in my perspective,
if you book a hotel room for yourself,
when you show up to said room
and it's exactly how, like, the photo online was,
if you're, like, taking a nice trip,
like you show up and you, like, paid extra for a nice room
and you actually get the room,
and you walk in, like, you have, like, a girl
with you and everything's perfect.
You're like,
fuck yeah.
Like when like things work out
and there's no hiccups
in a like travel opportunity,
can't beat it.
Possibly an older woman
with some kids.
Maybe.
Possibly.
Willie,
what you got?
My shout-out,
no free shout-out
is going to go to
when your eyes
adapt to the darkness.
Oh,
that's an elite one dog.
When I was putting Rood down
and you know
great dad,
when the lights go off
and you're kind of just sitting there
and it's just pitch black
and you're just like,
man, you just got to sit there
long enough for the darkness
to,
you know,
You know what you guys know what I'm trying to say.
Yeah, yeah.
You can't see shit.
Then all of a sudden you feel like you have like another sense.
Yeah, yeah.
You can see more.
You guys are eyes doing.
But when you're holding the baby and it's super dark,
you kind of have an,
I know how the layout is,
but there's fear.
And because you're kind of picking up your fear a little higher.
Way more because you know if you tripped, dude,
that baby's catching else.
Boys or something on the grass.
Oh, pro.
So that's my shoutout, no free shout out.
Okay.
My shout out, no free shout out goes to when a waitress or a waiter
cares so much about their job and have a glass of water.
And when you.
finished that water, that things immediately filled back up.
We were at someplace in 12th South yesterday with my kids.
And your boy was, I was still on that two-day hangover vibe.
And I was like drinking a bunch of water.
And I would slam that water.
I swear to God, she appeared like an angel every single time and just put that thing down.
I thought, what a respectable move by her to Luffer Craft.
We hooked her up with the tip, too.
Just know that.
Enjoy this Derek Henry episode.
We got to get to our guest who's house of the bus.
We're not going to say any names.
We're not going to say any names.
No, black shirts.
Yeah.

dot M.E
slash bussen.
And with that, ladies
gentlemen, please enjoy this episode.
Always.
I'll tell you what.
I hate to start a podcast off on this note.
So during exit
physicals the other day,
IR guys, they go in, they do their own thing
like a week before the Jacksonville game.
Obviously, the training staff didn't have
a lot of faith in the boys.
But I go in because I know the boys are going out.
There's a team meeting and I want to be a part of it.
See all the guys.
And Derek signing shoes,
signed shoes for Ben Jones.
or maybe I can get me a pair of them King Henry shoes.
I go after Derek and I'm like, hey man, let me get a pair of those.
And he's like, looks at me.
I go, what do you?
You're on the team?
He looks at me.
He goes, these are for you.
And he picked them and goes, I'll give you the white ones.
These are for you and signs them and puts to Taylor Luan to the boy 77.
But very, very strict on these are for you.
Is there like something behind that that makes you like feel like you got to make sure people
know?
This is for you, not for anybody else?
Yeah, I'm just saying this for you.
I'm signing to you, personalize them to you,
and gave Ben a pair that we've been teammates for the longest,
me, you and Ben.
So let's make sure that when people see them,
it says, take a little on, the boy 77.
Do you feel like teammates have ever taken advantage
of getting King Henry memorabilia?
No.
I mean, sometimes they ask more than, you know,
once or twice or three times.
but everybody's all cool about it.
Yeah.
How do you feel about, are you like big on, um,
with teammates, do you, is it anybody you'll just, hey,
practice squad guy, rookie, let me get a jersey.
Are you like, if I, if I write with you like that and, you know,
we've been cool and, you know, we put in work together,
then I have no problem with you.
Practice squad.
Yeah.
You're a starter.
It don't matter, but, you know, some guys kind of push the buttons a little bit,
but everything else.
it's pretty much cool
but some guys, you know, they want to ask
I'd be like, uh, I got the opportunity
for myself.
Because I haven't, I haven't got, you know, I haven't got a jersey.
I don't, you might not ever.
Yeah, I know, but.
I do have mine hanging up right above my cold time.
I don't know.
I was thinking, we rocked together once a part of,
so I might have to.
If your 10 went through, you probably would,
probably would get out.
Send that out to Atlanta.
Shifted over.
Dude, yeah, that's, um,
because there are guys, I remember walking in
and dudes, you know,
everyone's doing jerseys and signing stuff.
Some dudes are just giving
jersey just to give them.
And I had like two or three guys come up to me and be like, you think, you think Derek
would give me a jersey?
And I was like, I don't, I don't really see Derek sign for stuff.
Really?
I was, if you're asking another teammate to know of like, hey, you think I could ask
Derek, then that should be your answer.
That should be, the answer should be no.
If you feel good enough to go ask him, then that's, you know.
Like, I remember when, uh, you got the rushing title, 2019.
The 19, yeah.
In 2019, you got, you gave all the offensive linemen jerseys.
And all of us kind of sat around like, damn, he didn't really say.
stuff like that.
This is a big deal.
Rollies up for the boys.
What was it, 1564?
1540.
1540.
What's 1540?
That's how many yards he rushed for.
And he needed like 2.30 in the last game.
Yeah.
To beat Chubb.
Yeah.
But no, not.
But the Jersey thing, I just, you know, I value my jersey.
I value my personal belonging.
It's not just someone to give them out to anybody.
Mm-hmm.
I feel like when you work with something so hard,
and, you know, you put a lot of work in.
And it's a lot into, you know, the jersey and,
a lot invested that I just want to give it out to anybody.
But if we have a special relationship and we're going to rock it for a long time,
then I won't have no problem.
Sounds like you.
No, I'm, you know, I'm scheming in my head right now.
Yeah, you're going to get that, we're going to get you that jersey ball.
In due time.
In due time.
Well, I'm not going to play my hand too.
Bro, you know, I was thinking about the other day.
Remember whenever we, the COVID year, we used it the bus cut?
Yeah.
Piggy blinders.
And they just stopped, like, doing photos for us.
Like, when we went to the plane and, like,
you were just, like, tweaking out everybody's outfit.
I was thinking about the other day.
I was like, damn, that was a crazy time, boy,
because we couldn't get a photo, we couldn't do nothing.
Remember?
Because I, before the flight, I went to Garrett's house so I could get...
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I know.
You don't remember that?
This will never...
Are not the joke, but the whole thing will never come full circle.
Everyone thinks I'm just, I look absolutely fucking ridiculous.
They missed some legendary stuff that year.
Yeah, bro.
The best part about that was,
The Titans literally put you in the injury report.
I know, bro.
You're actually, like, Twitter official injury report for your haircut.
Your haircut.
It, like, made that day a little bit easier because that, remember, we were practicing on Christmas
and it was freezing outside.
It was a brutal.
You don't remember this?
Bro, I was, that was my first ACL.
Oh, yeah.
I haven't really been around the last couple of years, Bob.
Wow.
Was that Houston?
Houston Week 5.
Yeah.
Houston week five.
That was right before.
Wasn't it?
No, I told my ACL, we were five.
We were five and O.
No, we beat, we beat.
We beat the bills, and we played Houston that, that same week, because we played on Tuesday.
We played Houston that Sunday.
Yes.
Oh, yeah, because all that COVID shit.
Yep.
We legit proved that we didn't need practice anymore.
Sponsored by Zoom.
Sponsored.
Yeah.
Then we play, I think we played the Steelers right after that.
Yeah.
I know.
That was a weird and also legendary year.
That was a weird year.
We lost that first round of the playoffs, which was a fucking bummer because we dogged.
Yeah, y'all should have been.
Not like dogged them, but in the fourth quarter, dogged the Ravens that year.
Yeah.
I still stay.
You all should have beat the Ravens for real.
I know.
Look at us reminiscing on the old days.
War stories.
I know war stories.
I know.
The boys just talking war stories.
Are you hard to be back on the bus?
I'm hype, man.
How long as it's been?
It's been a year and a half too?
I feel like it's been two years.
Like two years.
Last time you haven't been here.
Have you come on here?
Not this location.
It was a yearly thing I should do it after the season.
I think I did it after 19.
Yeah, but last year I went to Texas.
Texas early.
Early, quick.
Yeah, what does Derek Henry's off season look like?
As soon as the season ends,
obviously we can get it.
into how the season went in a little bit.
But for you, exit interviews happened two days after.
What do you do right after that?
Yeah, packing, getting everything ready to go to Dallas.
My girl likes to get right out of here and go back to Dallas as quick as possible.
She loves Texas.
She's from Texas.
And then once we do that, get all the stuff ready, get it shipped, cars ship, everything, ship,
the dogs, get to Texas.
And by that time, you know, if I want to work out, I'll probably work out a little bit.
bit until pro bowl and Super Bowl and all those and all those things.
And once I get back from there, I think it's just going right into it.
But I mean, I might take trips here and there, but I'm still going to work out.
But it's not like working out, like going right into football training, but it's just like working
out to stay fit because I love working out.
Like I'm going to do that whenever I'm done playing because I just love working out.
No, I love being fit.
I can't sit around.
I just something that I can't do.
So that's just something that I've always done is working out.
when I was little.
I mean, my cousin would be older than me.
They have, like, weights,
and I'll be using them doing push-ups,
and then wait about two days
and want to see my muscles going to grow,
and they never did.
I'm like, man, what's going on?
And I just keep doing more push-ups and sit-ups.
But I just love working out.
That's what I've always benefited with.
And, you know, even when I'm done,
that's what I'll probably do is work out
and be fit and doing all that type of stuff.
When you say, like, when you get done,
you'll be doing something in the workout world,
like, what does it look like?
Like, do you know what you want to do?
Are you trying to be like...
I don't know.
I might...
Like you're trying to get big.
No, not like that.
That's too much.
I've seen those guys.
And the time they get to a certain age, they are, you know, they're drained.
I ain't trying to know like that.
Like Ronnie Coleman.
Yeah, exactly so.
But, no, shots out to him, no free shout-outs.
Yeah.
There you go.
But probably, I don't know.
I was talking to somebody else.
I might do some crawfitt.
Because that looks challenging.
Like, all that stuff.
They have to do the pull-ups and pull their stuff up over the bar.
I might just, I might want to try that one day.
on a national level.
Man, no, hell no.
They even have me out of looking crazy.
I think it would be insane if you won a CrossFit,
like the Super Bowl, the CrossFit games.
I got a lot of respect.
It looks, that's a smaller part.
They're like, hard.
Yeah.
Restor bill.
Pit bull body.
He's strong.
Somebody like Derek comes in and wins and it's like, oh, fuck.
Yeah.
Cross people are probably mad as hell to you.
Like, man, he already, you have the NFL.
Yeah.
But is there a prize?
What's the?
I think it's like a, what's a reward?
Cash prize.
real. Yeah, Rich Fronings, but he was like our second episode ever.
You know.
But people who do that stuff and like, you know, IG, like that little community of fit and crossfit, that's, you know, it's real popular.
People buy into that.
Like, if you have fit behind your Instagram, people just automatically going to flock to it and follow you because they want to see what you're doing.
Yeah, exactly.
The fitness is that in your algorithm on Instagram?
You might need to start a bust with the boys fit in this.
Some workouts outside the buses.
Bus and fit.
Bus and fit.
I'm telling you.
KJG Act 20203 is a huge thing for all of us right now.
I have only injured report at the moment.
Will's hurting, but the boys in the back are thriving right now.
Thriving.
I want to know what was anything said to you when you posted that mirror picture?
Was they like, hey, Will, this is our guidelines.
At the Falcons.
You were just sitting there at the mirror photos.
I didn't know.
It was a guideline you had to follow.
That's what you posted that.
And I was like, that might have affected the year 10.
He said that, Bill, I was like, I don't know.
Bro, you want to know what's wild is.
I mean, Arthur, he was here.
But art is about the content.
He's about busting.
Yeah, he was like, you know, I can't wait until we sign you.
Like, when we fly to Washington, he goes, I want you doing high knees on the plane,
like how Russell was doing to London.
Yes, right.
He said, I want to get you, like, on video doing high knees on the plane,
trying to, like, rally the boys or whatever.
Because the first week was going to be Washington week.
He's like, you'll be.
not practice squad, but you're going to travel.
And he's like, I want to get you.
Oh, the first thing was Washington Wheat.
The first thing I was going to be a big one.
I know, bro.
That was going to be a big one.
Come in home.
Oh, man, that's going to be a big one.
Hey, no, that's not pretty decent, I thought.
I was going to do it again, but no, it wasn't like that.
It wasn't like that for you?
But yeah, no, art was about that stuff.
Like, that's hilarious.
I was like, hey, this might impact you, you playing.
Well, you were kind of nervous about it, right?
You were telling me that had you in the tight fit.
And you're like, oh, man, I don't know.
about this and they gave you like a little lacrosse penny.
Yeah, they gave me like a little like, you know, one of them like loose practice
jersees to cover myself over with him.
I'm like, man, they want me to get up in this little slim stuff right here.
You know, I'm not in.
That good of shape.
We're ready.
We're ready.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, we're ready.
That whole process with you doing that is fucking wild.
They can't wait for you to write a book.
Yeah.
It's crazy.
Oh, dude, speaking of other players like Russell Wilson, have you seen this stuff with
Odell Beckham Jr.??
The plane incident?
Yes.
Yeah, that's all that.
That's crazy.
Yeah.
Have you do you know what KFC is?
KFC?
The one-minute man on Barstool.
Yeah, he's always doing like one-minute rants on Barstall sports.
This person's acting like this, and he gives his opinion on it,
and he just lets it live on the internet.
I might have seen something on Twitter one time, but I haven't really, no, not really.
I don't really know too much about it.
So he has this rant saying this is the biggest.
You've seen the video more recently.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
He was talking about, like, O'Dale, how it seemed like he was asleep.
He was, like, asleep because he came straight from the club to get on the plane after Thanksgiving.
He's sleeping on the plane.
put on a seatbelt wasn't like following orders or whatever.
And so then they had, it seems like, what, the police or fire department?
Paramedics, they're paramedics.
They're like, if he's going to refuse help, we can't give him help.
Yeah, because they're saying he's like unresponsive to.
It's like, basically he's like sleeping.
He's not really wanting to engage with like putting the seatbelt on in first class
because he's like laying down.
The seat's fully like laying down.
So they came over to ask, do you know where you're at?
He says, yeah.
And they're like, I mean, he knows where he's at.
And they're like, is his pants on?
Because apparently I guess he had his pants off.
first. Like, oh, his pants are on now, and they're like, oh, how do we go about this? And they were
trying to get him, I guess, ultimately put on his seatbelt, I think. That's what it was. And just,
like, follow the directions. And, like, we're going to have to debaward everybody off the plane
if you're not willing to cooperate. And he wasn't, like, trying to talk to any of the workers.
So they end up debboarding everybody off the plane. He flames, he fires off on some, like, old white
dude. Because O'Dell claims he was saying everything but the inward to him. He's like,
this shit don't matter to me, dude. He's like, I'll be on a private plane. Well, you guys.
got to get back on this plane and it starts flaming him.
You know, some nice humor with it, some nice men.
He's like, enjoy the cheeseboard afterwards.
So that's basically the idea of what happened.
And now everybody's got an opinion on it.
Me, I'm thinking, bro, just put on the seatbelt.
Like, you might be tired.
Like, let's just say all of that is true.
He comes from the club.
He gets on the plane.
I get your sleepy.
Like, we've all had, like, where you're grog and shit like that.
But we're talking about D-Board and the plane.
And then he sat there until everybody gets off the plane.
So everybody's like, he's like, I'm just going to chill here
until everybody gets off the plane.
Everybody's got to take their bags out of the fucking overhead
and get off the plane.
And there's a level of like Odell where,
knowing O'Dell for the few times I've been around O'Dell,
he doesn't seem like that kind of guy.
Yeah.
He doesn't seem like a dude that would make that stuff happen
because he's a great, like,
because he wants to because he thinks he's O'Dell.
But if I'm him in that situation,
even if I am fucked up and I was at the club
and I had to get on the plane,
I'm thinking, hey, people, this is going to be a story.
I actually put this damn seatbelt on.
Right.
That's what I'm thinking.
Like me, I'm just thinking,
yeah, just put the seatbelt on.
bro.
Yeah, I think, I mean, I don't know.
I can't really speak how somebody going to react,
especially with O'Dell with, you know,
all the stuff he's going through, being in the media,
and people portray him as one thing,
and New York's got to defend himself.
And he, being out in Miami,
you know, living his life and then get on the plane
and fall asleep, and all of a sudden,
you wake up, and there's cops
and everybody just looking at you.
I mean, you don't know how, I mean, everybody can react different.
Right.
So I think he was just like, dang, like,
what's going?
Like, what is it now?
Right, right, right.
So by that time, you, you think you're in a deep suit, you're waking up,
you was like, whoa, what's going on?
You got a fact, you got a, you know, some kind of realization of what's going on.
And, you know, I mean, I can't tell how nobody,
anybody's going to react when, you know, all that's going on.
And all he's doing is flying and falling in sleep.
Right.
Because ultimately all you got is like, you know, the tweets we see, right?
Social media, four-minute video.
It's not like we have all the.
But then, but then I think if, you know, once he woke up and what I was going on,
at that point, he probably already knew it was going to be out.
because, I mean, phones and everybody gets a hold
or get a biddy or something.
You know, I knew at that point, so it's like, I mean, it is what it is.
Say you know you're in the media big
and you have, they're like, whatever the perceptions are,
they get painted, yada, yada, yada.
Like, you almost just think, okay,
I need to almost overcorrect the other side
just so everybody knows, like.
Be super compassionate.
Yeah, be super compassionate.
Hey, hey, yeah, fuck, everybody put their back, you know,
hey, everybody put their bags up.
Listen, listen, listen, I'm going to put the seatbelt on.
Can we fly this plane?
Yeah.
Yeah.
You got that off your phone.
Now, hey, everybody put your bags back on.
Oh, you didn't get up.
Yeah.
But then, at the same time, but then, you know, they take him off the plane, but then you hear
the police say, yeah, he's playing so on, he's aware, he was asleep, he probably just tired.
He was like, what do y'all want us to do?
I mean, like, he's aware, he's alert.
I mean, then they were saying that he wasn't putting a seatbelt on.
But at that time, I feel like he wasn't doing anything wrong.
I felt like, you know, at that point, he was just like, I just want to fly and go home.
Yeah.
And it's just like.
Yeah, because it's like, well, what do you guys want to do?
It's like, well, let's ask him one more time.
Let's just, hey, can you put the seatbelt on so we can take off?
But if you wasn't putting the seatbelt on, then it's just like, I mean,
I mean, it's on you at that point.
You're just like, yeah, also, like, we've been on planes.
Yeah.
Like, when you play football, like, you get on the plane, you're sitting there,
and then all of a sudden the plane's taking off.
Like, oh, fuck, I'm on my seatbelt on.
If I'm on the plane and I don't feel like getting off, I'm going to go to
I'm going to go to the cup.
I don't go.
We can go.
Right.
There we can.
He can fly again.
You go to the club.
You go to this guy.
Do whatever you want.
You know what you do?
Do what you do?
I'm trying to get what you're trying to go to this.
But you see what I don't go.
We're going to let them go about their business.
You know what I'm trying to de-escalate the situation.
But, you know, I don't know how everybody else is doing.
I didn't know how the internet works.
I wonder, they should have just waited for him to fall back asleep and then, like, buckled them up.
Like, kind of, like, just grabbed them.
Hey, hey, he's good.
Just go.
Just fucking go.
Yeah, like.
So, my question, y'all don't think that somebody could have did that this made it like,
You've been me like this ease
and put the seatbelt on
because you could have did that quickly
if he was out
he probably wouldn't have felt that anyway
No right right
Like just
Because it's been time
Yeah
Pull out your phone
Take a little phone
It got him
Especially you got the pods
Because I didn't
Once you lay back
You'd be out
And it's been time
I have food plates
And I wake up
And everything gone
So it'd be easy
To put the seatbelt on
And just
Let's take all
But we'll have to get O'Dell on
O'Dell needs to come on the podcast
Talk through it
Talk through that.
We're ACL brothers, do we had our ACLs like the same week or like six days apart.
So he's got to come on.
You guys ever like talk or connect over A.
That was the first one.
That was the first one where, yeah, he got done by the same person I got done the first time.
We would like talk like, how's your surgery?
We're going, oh, mine's great.
How's your going?
And then there was like a level of us both like pretending like everything was great.
Yeah.
And then both of us had 2021 the way it was.
With Joe Dell, he was bawling.
And then it all of a sudden just didn't work anymore, right?
The Super Bowl happened and he just.
Remember that they're talking about the turf field?
Yes.
What are your thoughts on?
playing on turf fields?
Man,
you're sure the same sentiment
as like,
I got hurt on
turf fields, so
you know how I feel about it.
There's been so many
injuries that's happened
on turf fields.
I mean, it's just
proven.
I mean, it's not really
good for the league
and, you know,
for our bodies.
You ask any player
in the league about
turf, they're just like,
it's not going to be
an automatic answer
they're going to think
about it,
but like,
like, no.
And there's so many
people that's been like,
you're rid of turf fields
that, you know,
I think it's a time
where it's all
playing on grass.
Right.
By the end of the day, it's the NFL, so it's all about business.
So you're telling me how owners are the thing.
You're telling me I got to pay you and then pay to keep the field going,
rather than I can this foot turf out, have a football game,
but I got a maintenance to field, which I know is probably a headache.
By the end of the day, players are the ones that, you know, brain.
Your best players are going to hurt.
You're not going to have.
The NFL is going to push, though, we're all about player safety.
Yeah.
And that's something.
And then that's like the narrative at the.
they're following that narrative, then that's something where they should listen to them.
Yeah, really, I think for players, and I think we're just trying to seeing people get hurt on turf.
Right.
And it's just been proven people getting hurt over and over again.
I think when players fell on turf, they're probably what they think about.
Like, man, I hope, you know, I come out the game healthy.
It's just, you're just tired of seeing people get hurt, especially people you see work so hard,
you get where they're at, and then get, you know, get hurt, especially like, you said,
we're talking about Odell, come off an ACL and then work all his way back and got to Super Bowl.
and got hurt again on turf.
You don't want to see that.
So, you know.
What's crazy, too,
is the players are even talking about
before the game
we hit on CJ,
CJ Uzama from the Bengals.
And he was like,
even before the game,
they're talking about that middle of the field area
where...
Are you on the Jets now?
Yeah, he's on the Jets now.
He was on the Bengals
when they were at in the Super Bowl.
That was nice heads-up play though for Will.
That could have been real bad.
Yeah, it could have been bad.
But he was saying before the game,
they were all out there walking,
talking about like,
hey, make sure, you know,
you be careful around this area
because it felt a little loose.
like with the turf.
Yeah.
But,
but hold on now,
Taylor.
Yeah.
Seattle last year.
Warming up for the game.
Yes.
Turf.
We did.
And there is video footage.
You were hitting that little
hyper extension looking deal.
I know.
I don't know.
And,
yeah,
like the turf deal is
and Buffalo this year.
Yeah.
Turf.
Yeah.
What was that?
Second play,
first play?
First play of the game.
That's the,
yeah.
Play action passed.
Bad luck.
But did I read that,
um,
Look, man.
Somebody out from the rafts, a sound.
I was out there crying, too.
Didn't I read, MetLife Stadium's going to turf,
I mean, going to grass, moving from turf to grass,
MetLife Stadium, the Giants and the Jets.
Oh, as they are.
People got to do what the carnals are doing.
They got the roof that's retractable and all that,
and they put it on the grid.
The Raiders do that, too.
I mean, I'm not sure to do that,
but they have a dawn with grass.
Yeah.
I think the Texans had at one point,
but they went to turf.
I think it's just a maintenance thing about it.
I had to pay and keep the turf.
You have to keep the grass.
Yeah, Halt fertilizer.
People trimming that shit all the time.
It's just about keeping the grass up.
Because there's a level of like when you play at Nissan Stadium,
like the grass is fine in the middle of the season.
But then end of the season, there's the music city bowl.
There's a whole bunch of concerts and all this stuff.
Yes, you plays on it.
And so by the end of the year, you're playing on like the Oakland Radio Stadium.
Like all in that fucking inch of the world.
I remember one point.
I forgot what, what year it was, but they had spray paint in the field.
And it felt we were playing on ice.
Oh, hit the ground.
I'm like, man, whoa.
That last game.
Yeah.
I'm like, whoa.
I know, dude.
It would be one thing if the owners were just like, hey, the maintenance, the cost, yada, yada, and just played that.
But if they, the way they talk about player safety, it's like, okay, well, then listen to your players.
Even as simple, simply practice.
We enjoy going inside, like, when it's cold as fuck, but we're like, fuck, we got to play on the turf.
Yeah.
We got to practice on turf.
You know what I'm saying?
Points feel worse after playing on turf.
But to play devil's advocate, I remember, like, going on the turf.
When you're young, you don't even realize, like older dudes will be talking with the turf.
And you'd be like, my shit feels fine.
What are you talking about?
Exactly.
Yeah.
But even like this past year, when we go on the turf, I'm like, I really want to go on the turf because I know I'm going to feel the next two days.
But low-key in practice, I would be like, man, I kind of feel really good out here.
Springy.
Springy.
Yeah.
Yeah, you definitely look fast on turf for sure.
Way fast.
You'd be like, you're flying on turf.
Yes.
That's for sure.
It's funny, too.
Like when you're in like high school and stuff, you play on a turf field, you're like, oh, man, we're fucking playing on the turf field.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, in high school.
Yeah.
In high school, yeah.
In high school, I'm saying when you go to play on one, you're like, you're like, you're playing on one.
You're like, oh, oh, yeah, they're legit.
You think they're so legit, for sure.
Oh, man.
But it's so crazy, like, the level of thinking as you get older and, like, you, your body and the game, it's like, in high school, an injury, like, it was nothing and all that type of stuff.
And then playing on turf, it's just crazy how, like, your logic of thinking changes as you get older than the game.
And as you go away back, like, man, give us some grass.
Give us some grass.
But in high school, you're like, man, we got grass with our field.
We suck.
Like, ours is not cool.
Even in college, where you used to trip about turf really?
No. No. We play on
on turf. Michigan's the field's on turf all the time
every game. Every single game.
But that goes to just show you
the level and the physicality
of the NFL to college and, you know,
leading up, it's way different. Yes. You got to...
That's a good point. Yeah. It is way different.
And that everyone's just faster and stronger.
People always ask me about
college to the NFL. I'm just like,
bro, NFL is not in day different.
It's not in the same game.
It's not the same.
How does it feel from a running back perspective, how different it is?
What?
You just see it.
College?
It's fast out there.
It's not the same.
Not the same.
I mean, the SEC was, I mean, it was the closest thing to it, but it's just not the same, real.
It's not the same.
You were playing a big ten to me?
Like the...
Hold on, Derek.
You said some fighting words there.
You were playing a big ten opponents.
We play a little differently up north.
Yeah.
The bit...
You would have thrived.
thing too.
That's what I mean, the teams I played mainly was in the SEC.
Okay.
I can't speak on the big 10 or any other conferences.
I didn't play them all the time.
You played the one big 10 team.
Wisconsin.
Michigan State.
38-0.
Wisconsin was like 35, 13.
We played Ohio State.
Ohio State.
We played Ohio State in the college playoffs.
They beat us.
Yeah, you guys went out again.
Play the Ohio State in the playoffs and they beat us.
Yeah.
They won't, that's the championship.
That's a shout out of Ohio State.
Oh, now we want to say Ohio State.
We need this.
How the fuck
do these other Power 5 conferences
compete with the SEC?
Like you are, you're the reason why
players like you are the reason why
we can't catch a fucking break.
Poor TCU's looking at their wounds right now.
That game was disgusting.
Blood bad.
And the only good thing I can take from it
is they beat them worse than Michigan last year.
So I feel a whole lot better about it, you know?
Yeah, but it was just crazy to watch that game
because I'm just like, when I watched TCU against Michigan,
I'm like, okay.
they got some physicality to them.
They play hard, like on defense.
I'm like, okay, then the quarterback, he's tough.
13 on defense for TCU, that lineback was flying around.
He's running back.
I heard 33, which he's nice, but number three for them,
he played well, too, when he went down.
But I just thought TCU, I mean, they were physical.
I didn't think they were going to lay an egg or lay down.
Then I watched the game.
I was like, oh, man.
It was bad.
And I said, oh, man, again.
was the closest it got.
Oh, man.
Yeah, or it seemed competitive.
I legit had that game on for the first quarter.
What are your thoughts for that game?
I think Michigan would have done better.
No, no.
What are your thoughts from the arguments and conversations that we've had about SEC and all that
types of, what are your thoughts?
And then I'm coming to you next because you've been in there.
We understand the question.
We know what you're at.
We know what the fuck you're asking us.
We slow down.
Ask us the question you want to ask.
Obviously, we are a pro Bay 10 podcast, and we look at the SEC as the enemy.
You guys won.
You guys won.
has won this year, and you've won frequently
over the last 15 years.
But
that's...
The SEC's the best conference in college football.
No question right now.
No question.
My worry is, how the hell do we get these studs
out of the southeast and bring them up north?
We got those some money at them, boys.
NIL deals.
Hang on now.
Now, it is also not fair that the SEC was doing
NIL deals before they were legal.
Like, that is...
That's something.
I don't know about that.
I remember the last five.
You know it.
Hey, that's a historic quote, Pave me in Rings.
So it still lives on to this day.
Still lives on to this day.
Did you ever like look at that?
Because that shit was blowing up.
Everybody's like, man, why are his teammates pressing him like this?
Yes.
No, I just seen the locker room conversation.
I've seen like a, a Bema, a Pampage or something, like post something.
I mean, put it in the Coliseum, pay me in rings.
You know what I'm saying?
That's that's what I'm quotes.
You can.
Yeah.
A slogan you can use.
Kentucky.
Yeah.
What was,
they lost?
They lost.
I mean,
I don't see.
Kentucky was real.
Bud Dupree was saying
Kentucky's real this year.
Outside of Georgia
and Alabama.
I can't really say Alabama anymore.
Why?
They fell off big this year.
But bro,
I'm going to keep it real.
I'm going to keep it real, though.
And I'm just going to say this.
Last year,
Georgia played Michigan.
Yes.
Was it close?
No.
Not close.
and I was 2021.
Yeah.
The year before that,
then would play a higher state
and national championship
was it closest.
52-24.
That doesn't seem like you.
You didn't really give us time
to answer that question either.
I didn't try to thank the year before that.
Clemson?
Did Clemson?
Oh, Clemson played LSU.
That turned out.
I mean, but I'm just saying.
I'm in the SEC.
All right, ACC now.
Was it one year when Clemson play
Ohio State in the playoffs.
I think it was like in the Fiesta Bowl.
Oh, LSU won because that was Joey B.
That's on us.
That's on us.
I knew that LSU won that.
The best college football teams of all time.
That's on us.
Is that the best college football team of all time?
One of them.
I think Nebraska in the 90s.
Nebraska.
But I will say.
Look up the stats.
I will say Ohio State held it down against Georgia this year.
That was a good game.
That was a good game.
They played well.
Yeah.
I know.
That's what made it seem like Georgia was human.
We were so close to seeing Ohio State versus Michigan
in the national championship.
Benchio.
We were?
Yes.
I will say this for Michigan.
That was a touchdown.
I don't understand how they didn't call that.
I don't know what that was.
That was a touching on me.
Yeah, we've said on this podcast already.
You can't spot them two pick sixes and a quarterback running back exchange for a turnover.
You can't do that.
And they still almost came back.
That was tough.
That was tough.
Is it fair to say that Georgia's Alabama's daddy now in the SEC?
Bro.
You're going to really...
You're going to look at me in my face.
Smile at me and ask me that question.
You got that much confidence asking me that.
I was smiling? Yeah, bro.
To say Georgia...
You got to show your teeth to talk.
All right, hang on.
Let me change it out.
No, no, no, no.
The question's already out there.
The question's already out there.
Let them rephrase it.
We just played Georgia.
No, no, no, no.
We're good.
We're good.
You asked that with confidence, so I'm going to kill that confidence.
All right?
We just played Georgia last year
in the National Championship.
Georgia's Albin Saturday.
They won right, they won't right.
And we beat them previous
that same year in the SEC Championship.
We had both of our receivers,
John Metchie and Jameson Williams.
John Metsche goes down with the ACL.
And then Williams goes down
with the ACL in that game.
Bro, I mean, who is,
who is Bryce going to throw to?
in that game.
Two natties in a row now.
Said again?
Two natties in a row now.
I'm not taking anything away from Georgia.
But I'm saying we had went previous that year.
We just won it in 2020 and we went back in 2021.
Georgia won it last year and they won it this year.
We've won it 2009, 2012,
2015.
2011, too.
Oh yeah, 2011.
2011, I'm sorry, 2011.
9, 11, 12.
No, no, 9, 11, 12.
15. Hold on, hold on, hold on.
15.
It's right here.
17.
No, I don't want to look.
15, 17.
Crimson.
20.
And.
That's it.
You guys haven't been good to, you guys haven't been good since 2020.
Stop.
Start, sorry.
We're just, I'm just looking at the stats.
We just won the SEC championship last year, bro.
Georgia is king shit in the SEC right now.
Okay, let me rephrase it.
Would it be fair to say that Georgia is the game?
king of the SEC.
No, bro.
Right now, bro.
They are playing great football.
They are the two-time defending champs.
No, I'm saying, but I'm saying for the last two years,
they've been outstanding.
Okay, how about this?
We have sustained that standard for 10 years, for 10 years.
I just think when somebody's on top
and be on top for so long, they can't wait for somebody
to just come in and just take over.
But we ain't,
but Alabama.
They must not go on to where.
I'm sorry to say.
I didn't want recruit class this year.
Hey, hey, hey, hey, how about this?
There you go.
Is Kirby Smart the best head coach in the SEC?
Bro, stop.
Stop, bro.
No, no.
Who was Kirby Smart under before he went to Georgia?
I'm assuming Nick Staven.
You were assuming Nick Saven?
Yeah.
They were assuming.
They ain't know assuming.
Hey, just because Nick Sabin's lived longer doesn't mean any.
Yeah.
Nick Saban is really just old.
That's why he's successful.
Yeah.
Think so?
I mean, it seems like he's really falling off last year.
You guys is logic.
Because it's the start of this decade.
Would it be fair to say that in 2022, Georgia was the king of the SEC?
Oh, no.
I can't live with that, no.
Okay, how about this?
So you're dying with your, you're dying with your pride, which we can respect.
We can do one more question, though.
Is it fair to say, since 2020, Georgia has owned the SEC?
No, bro.
No, bro.
That 2020 is seen.
People are more scared to play Alabama or more scared to play Georgia.
We played Georgia that year in 2020.
And killed them.
That's the better point.
You think, bro, how are you going to say that, bro?
You said, you said they're the king of SEC in 2020?
They're scared of the dogs.
Yeah, the dogs.
The dogs.
And nobody isn't scared of the dogs anymore.
You said the king of SEC since 2020.
We beat them twice in 2020, right?
In 2020, right?
We're doing twice in 2020, right?
You're mass-minded.
Because we play residency in SEC, we beat them twice then, right?
I know that the...
Yes.
Oh, yeah.
And they on the night.
No, no.
No, we did because it was an SEC schedule in 2020 because of COVID,
and they came to them and we beat them.
So we beat them twice in 2020, right?
We beat them in 2021, the championship.
They beat us a national championship.
We didn't play, we didn't play this year.
Would you rather have an SEC championship or a national championship?
Answer the question.
Answer the question, Darren.
Oh, okay.
Okay.
That's no question.
What I'm saying?
Yeah, but we were still there.
They won.
But so you're telling me, after watching that game on Monday night,
you were like,
What is this?
They shouldn't have been there.
That's what everybody was saying.
TCU?
Oh, absolutely.
That's what I'm saying.
And it's no, not a TCU, but it's just like they, I mean,
there wasn't no commentational.
No, no, no, no.
You're saying Bama should have been in it.
Tennessee should have been there.
Yeah, Tennessee should have been in the national championship.
We lost about field goal.
Yeah, lost.
Lost.
Orchewson hand grenades.
It's the only time the close matters.
How about this?
I lost when I was that, man.
We still won national championship.
We lost, um, Ole Miss.
That was Ole Tossi.
That was a crazy game.
You know what I'm saying?
Do you wish that your mascot was a dog over an elephant?
No, never, bro.
You like elephants?
Elephants' biggest animal in the jungle, boy.
What else you know about them?
Are they in jungles?
Huh?
They go in jungles?
They're in the jungle, baby.
In the jungle, baby.
They have good memories, too.
What's a better mascot than an elephant?
None.
A wolverine?
None.
Dog.
None.
You don't even have a, dude y'all have a mascot?
I never see y'all master.
We did in the 80s and it died, okay?
And then it became.
You guys are Wolverines.
With the Wolverines.
There's a tax-jury one sitting in the Schembeckler Hall right now.
But either way it goes, Marie's proud of our Bevan Boys, man.
We came up a little bit short, but we finished the season strong.
One thing about us, we're just going to go back to work, that everybody talk, and then come out and do what we do.
I mean, because when I was there, my freshman year, we lost to...
Is that when you were getting paid?
No, never got paid.
I told you.
That was to go to the school.
I was earning my rings.
Doing a good job.
My first year, we lost to.
Auburn in the kick 60, we ended up losing to Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl.
In my second year, we lost to Ole Miss, and then we ended up losing the high state in playoffs.
In my third year, we lost to Ole Miss again.
We went our championship and the SEC championship.
So it's like, you know, you can have times where...
What was your first year? 2012?
2013.
Successes in a straight line.
Not always, man.
Not always.
It's not always.
You know, Georgia had to work their way.
get there.
Work their way to get where.
Hang on.
Work their way to get where.
To win two in a row.
To be on top.
To be on top.
Yeah, because they won the national championship.
Kings.
They won the championship.
Not any kings, no, bro.
Not.
Y'all saw, y'all saw, y'all saw, people are going to be in this tab.
They're doing it again.
Y'all saw Coach Sabin whenever.
Yeah.
That was crazy.
Who is it?
Who is the, David Pollock was like,
Georgia is like the team in the SEC.
Yeah.
Yeah, and you see Nick Saban look down like this.
You can see him taking that mental note.
Mental no.
All right, I bet.
This is the rat poison we needed.
This is the rat poison we needed.
Do you guys think you're going to be good next year?
Sure.
Who's going to be your quarterback?
Who's going to be your quarterback?
Probably it would be an open competition, I think.
Oh, that is spicy.
It'll be open competition, but I think,
at Batman, that's how it always is,
unless you just come in and just establish yourself right away,
And it's just, it's no question.
But I think it'll be an open competition
until somebody just takes it over.
Which I think it'll go until camp is over.
Yeah.
They'll go through spring and do all that
and go through A-Day.
How's it feel they have two Bama guys on top of the league
and rushing?
That's always nice, man.
Because you've got to the last game, right?
There was three going in the last week,
and then you ended up getting them?
I was three.
But yeah, man, this is fire.
RBU.
I mean, you can't, you can't really,
people always try to argue this.
Them is RVU, bro.
Yeah, you guys come a long way
from Trent Richardson.
I was going to say,
don't, don't, don't do true.
That's, that's, that is painted.
Don't do Trump like that.
No, I like that.
We were in an armor game together.
We were, yeah, he's a stud.
Yeah.
And he had off the field deals
or something going on,
but this is not a disrespectful comment.
He was a bus.
Demas, Demas RVU for sure.
You want to help him?
For sure.
Yeah, who competes with that?
Who competes with you guys at R.B.
Wasn't he?
Not, T.J. Yelden.
Not T.Y. Hilton.
Georgia.
Ohio State.
Wisconsin.
Wisconsin.
Wisconsin's got some studies.
You remember that.
You've seen firsthand what happens with Wisconsin running backs.
Yeah.
No lube.
First.
Yeah.
No, I want you to know I wasn't coming at,
I guess I was coming at Trent Richardson.
He threw him in the bus column.
He is, like, objectively, unfortunately.
If you looked at him, he is a bust.
Now, I've been around him a couple of times.
I enjoyed him.
I think he's a great guy for whatever happened.
Just didn't work out in the league.
But he's a bust.
It's how it happens sometimes, you know, stuff like that happens.
And you just got to move on.
We all wanted to go, but we plan, but don't go like that.
He's still a dog, man.
He was a dog in college.
Everybody knows, you know, he rich was a dog.
He was an elephant.
He was an elephant.
For sure.
You were, I do want to circle back.
Got that dog in them.
Got that dog in them.
I do want to circle back.
I didn't see what you did.
To my dog.
Oh, yeah.
Uh-oh.
When you got hurt last year, what was that?
No, no, no.
I do want to speak on, you said, having two
Babbin backs in the top two.
Yeah, proud of Josh.
He worked for it.
Went crazy.
I got to watch his game against the 49ers,
which is probably the best defense in the league.
He was killing them.
He didn't have a lot of yards,
but he was going crazy.
proud of Josh Man and, you know, I think he earned everything he got this year.
I know they didn't pick up his fifth year this past year, so I know that was motivation.
Yeah.
Proud of Josh Man and, you know, Rbue, Bama built, roll the tie.
You know what it is.
Do you think he'll be at the right next year?
Noggi Harris, Kenyon doing this thing.
Oh, yeah, Naji is Bond too.
Mark, yeah, you guys do have a lot of good.
Mark Angroom.
I'm holding it down for a while.
Yeah, man, proud of them boys, man.
You know how we rock out.
You guys have some really good fucking backs.
Who's the back for the Saints?
Alvin Camara.
He was at.
No, but he was at Alabama before.
He was there.
We all came.
We all came.
We all came.
We all came in together.
Man.
Crazy.
Most underutilized back in college football history.
Who?
Alvin Kamara.
Part of his first year and then he left went to June
Colorado.
He went to Tennessee.
It went crazy.
That's what he's still underutilized.
People really didn't know about him like that.
At the time, right?
Jalen heard.
But Alvin was a dog at Tennessee.
What?
Went crazy.
He said Alvin Kamara was going to do what he was done in the league when he was in college.
Yes.
What are you talking about?
You're not seeing him at Tennessee?
No.
You don't fucking do that.
We have talked about this, be like he was underutilized.
I knew my dog.
He was a dog at Tennessee, bro.
He was a dog, but all right.
I digress.
You know, when we play them, when dogs...
When dogs...
You cut that someone looks stupid as fuck.
You know what dogs...
When dogs is at Tennessee?
I'm not obviously going to cut it.
Jack would literally.
last week was even kind of saying that, but I guess now that Derek switched up.
Oh.
No, but when,
but speaking of,
speaking of Tennessee and when I was at Tennessee, we played them in 15.
They almost beat us.
It was a close game.
It came down to the wire.
They were good now.
He was balling.
Really, if it wasn't for the game, Cox, they'd be in that college football playoffs.
Yeah, that game was wild.
A boy went crazy.
And then Hennon didn't get hurt.
I hate to see that.
Dude, it sucks.
I saw him in L.A.
When you guys put the Chargers,
I went down there and get checked up,
and he was, like, super positive guy.
Joe Milton.
Well, he's nice.
Hey, he watched the ball game.
Transfer from Michigan.
He's nice now.
He's nice.
Like, literally once he went down and came in
and finished the end.
He needs to go back to Michigan.
He nice.
Does he have another year?
I want him back.
Is he done?
He's going back.
He's going back to Tennessee?
Yeah.
Oh, he's nice, bro.
He was a starter before, and then he was, like,
overthrowing.
Oh, yeah.
Not no more.
Yeah, not no more.
There's no quarterback controversy in Tennessee.
He is big, bro.
He's big, he's a big dude.
You think he feels so far as...
No, when he was throwing it, it looked like he was just like...
Right.
I bet we're going.
He's going to.
He's nice, bro.
He's nice, bro.
Hey, come on, Jim.
Arm ball.
You don't like JJ?
I like J.J. a lot.
But I like competition.
No, no, I like competition.
I think competition makes the best out of all.
It's iron, sharpen iron.
Who would you want to be a starting quarterback?
Michigan, if he went there.
If Joe Milton went there?
Yeah.
Like, who would you want to be the...
I would want to see them compete
and whoever the best one is to come out better.
Hopefully.
Hopefully, whoever does thinks it's a national championship and wins it.
Against Georgia next year.
Who would you hope comes out on top of that quarterback battle?
Oh, I think, I would hope the better player came out on top.
You're just wanting to get on your hands and knees for fucking Joe Milton and go to Michigan.
But then it's like, oh, get in the quarterback battle.
Yeah.
I mean, unless Joe's afraid of competition.
Why go to Michigan and compete when you can just start and take?
Tennessee. I mean, why not, why not trying to be great? Hey, guys, I'll give them empty promises.
We interrupt this episode to shout out the boys at Sport Cliffs. No free shoutouts. Consider this.
Not every hairstylist is created equal. Many stylists don't have much experience cutting men's hair,
but you don't know it until it's too late. At Sport Cliffs, all stylists undergo specialized
training specifically in how to cut in style men's hair, making them not just stylists,
but scissor cutting scholars and fade fanatics. After all, it's not just any average haircut.
This is the big leagues, boys.
We're talking about these are hair-cutting professionals.
So don't hand your bushy old noggin over to anyone over with a pair of clippers.
Hand them to them hair-cutting professionals over at Sport Cliffs that takes men's cutting hair to another level,
which is why they truly are the pros in men's hair.
Before we get back to this episode, we do got a shot.
We do got to say that our Buswiser merch that you guys see our Buzz and our Budweiser bowtie logo stuff,
that's done up at the end of the month.
So go ahead, jump in the store.
You guys know where to find us.
Buy those T's up, buy everything up,
because they're going after this month,
back to the episode.
Yeah, but it is cool to switch up sometimes.
Like your hair.
Do you think I was...
We want to talk about your hair.
It is so crazy because
at first people were making fun of my hair.
Oh, it looks like this.
It looks like that.
It looks like that.
Now that I take it down.
Get the hair back.
It's your superpower.
I'm like, bro.
Shut up.
Be quiet.
Now, I will say this.
Shut up and me, why.
Hits look harder on you with your hair down.
Yes.
Because your hair flies everywhere.
Yeah, because it flies everywhere.
Yeah, but sure.
Yeah.
Because I think somebody, I'm not going to say who.
I think Derek's taking harder hits this year.
And I was like, bro, I think it's his hair just flying around more.
It's definitely my hair.
The first one of my head is the Giants game, this first year.
Yeah, that was.
I wonder who was blocking on that plane.
You made me look really bad.
Who was blocking on that play?
You look really bad on that play.
Was it was 77?
I think it was.
It wouldn't have been 77.
It's definitely a white guy with tattoos.
Dark Viser kind of, you know, I don't know.
He could see.
The linebacker slipped and backed doored him and then.
Yeah.
Yeah, that was tougher, the individual.
But at the back would have you seen it.
I was looking this way.
I seen the safety.
I was jumping over somebody on the ground.
I looking straight.
Versus history, but I ain't going to complain.
I got back up and continued to play.
When you saw one of your teammates with the Dark Viser on,
did you think, wow, it looks really cool.
I want to do that, too?
I always saw Dark Baza on was cool when I seen with Daniel Thompson where.
I always wanted to wear one because I saw him wear.
It had nothing to do with him.
It had nothing to do with an office alignment on your team that worked.
Not at all.
Sorry to save it.
Oh, you're saying he wanted to get the dark visor.
Oh, my God, Will.
Bro, he is really like that.
Derek got that.
I am like that.
I am.
I am him.
Yeah.
I am him.
Let's talk about the season.
Hang, I thought I had a question.
Okay, go ahead.
This is exactly who said we weren't going to do, but go ahead.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I can't remember.
That's fucking tough.
Oh, oh, oh.
What were the best?
jokes you got with what your hair looked like.
Because I know you're thinking of them.
You just said, you know, like this, like that.
Like the other day, somebody's like, you know,
Derek doesn't have the turd hanging out of the helmet anymore.
Yeah, I think, I think you know that.
That's why you asked that question.
And you just said one of them over good.
That's why you said that.
Like, from your boys or anybody personally?
You know, I heard it all.
Taylor knows.
He wasn't been saying, he just waiting for a moment to laugh.
He's eyes so big.
He waited for a moment of laugh.
It was all the jokes.
But, you know, I welcome a moment.
I welcome him and all.
I was, I was bawling doing my thing.
Yeah.
I didn't really care.
You were doing your thing.
That was my question.
That was, you were doing that thing.
All right, so the season.
Obviously, it's hard to be a running back in this league.
You just said how hard it is, like, from college to NFL.
It's got to be equally as hard when injuries happen in front of you.
Like, Ben Jones went down this year.
Ben Jones never goes down.
He's always there.
Yeah, I went down.
Nate went down.
We had Dylan for 10 seconds in the Chargers game.
He went down.
Who else?
Brewer, our smallest guy,
made it through the whole entire season.
Unscathed, it seems like.
Yeah.
How was that, like,
was there a time,
obviously not coming at the players at all,
but for you being, like, frustrated, like, damn.
Because how we do has a lot to do with your success.
Obviously, you're still bald.
Yeah.
But I'm saying, does that, like, affect,
there's got to be a level of frustration for you
during the season when you see guys going down over and over again.
Not really a frustration for me,
but I just feel frustrated for,
my teammates, everybody that went down.
Because I see y'all, and as far as you,
you know, working your way back and excited for the season,
you know, we have our talks and we do all that.
And just to see it in how quickly it did,
frustrated for you because I know how much you love this game
and, you know, how much you love playing ball
and, you know, all the success that you had.
And then we've been the same thing.
You know, we're all like brothers, you know,
family been together for so long and to see all y'all just,
you know, go down and not be able to finish the season
and do the things that we've all.
always done throughout the season.
It was just, that was part of the tough part.
But to me, I just try to focus on, you know, what I need to do to, you know, what I need to do
do all that, which it was different because different bodies, you know, new guys.
Yeah, everybody's, everybody's different.
So, but it was definitely tough this year just because it was so many different guys just
coming in and, you know, trying to pick up, you know, our scheme and, you know, style we play.
And then the day, I feel like those guys try to do the best.
job they can to fill in for y'all but i mean it was still tough because we you know we chemistry you know
yeah how does it change the way you run the rock like has it changed like yeah all that stuff's awesome
you're one of you're like the best to do it it's like how does it how does that uh change the way you go
out there and and play like if you're trying to get to no lineman you're talking about chemistry and
everything else is it is it things that you got more so look at on film or talk to lineman
or is it just always like a feel thing for you no i'm i'm always gonna play the same
I think, you know, I think watching y'all and being in the room with y'all and knowing the style we want to play and, you know, how we are with the ring game.
I feel like they, you know, got a, you know, gramps of it, you know, from y'all being around y'all.
So I play the same.
I don't try to worry about who's blocking this and that.
You got your job and I'm going to do mine, so.
Yeah.
It doesn't take your eyes anywhere differently?
No, no.
I'm just trying to put myself in your shoes.
Am I okay if there could be, you know, some.
No, because I'm, I'm, I'm going to take my eyes here on this.
I'm basically looking at the, because I'm too busy looking at the look.
the deepest is given, so I don't really, you know, everybody got their job.
But, yeah, I mean, it was definitely tough.
It definitely plays in because it's a difficult offense to run for an offense alignment.
It's a unique offense that, like, four or five offenses in the league do.
But, like, it all depends on stretch.
Like, if one guy gets more stretched than another, you have to cut back plays faster.
Now, that's a reaction thing for you, but that does, like, I could see myself in your shoes getting frustrated
because it's like, damn, I want to do so well.
like I see you and how you work and how you handle yourself on a day-to-day basis inside the building.
It's like Derek wants to be great.
Every like, he just wants to be great and he wants like them to be like, hey, we're running the ball and Derek's running the ball and this is why we're going to win.
Like you appreciate and you accept that responsibility.
And then if I'm like, you're used to stretching a ball a certain time or a certain amount of steps and now like you someone's out so you can't or you can't make that cutback because Ben's not there and the other person in there doesn't have.
the skill set that Ben does, and I can see it being difficult.
Yeah, especially because, you know, Ben, you, you all seen a lot of balls.
So guys who come in there, you know, haven't, you know, seen different looks and things like
that and got in that fire like that.
So if it's going to be some, it's going to be some adjustments, it's going to be different.
Guys can't do what other guys do just because they've been in the system for a long time.
And like you said, it's kind of, it can be hard for some offensive alignment if they
haven't done it, you know, for a long time, which y'all have.
And I understand that.
And in the day, I just try to get them confidence.
be like, bro, it is what it is.
This is what it is.
It's what we're going to go out with.
Let's go ball.
But at the same time, you know, you know, everybody's skill set is different.
But at the end of the day, we all got a job to do.
And I had the job to do.
So I'm going to try to go out there and ball regardless.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What was it like your first time getting injured?
Actually, I don't even know if there was your first actual time getting surgery.
Really?
No, no, no.
I had surgery in college.
I thought you said this.
Oh, it was your first time getting surgery in the NFL?
Yeah.
It was tough.
You know, I was hurt.
You know, it was definitely different for me because it was my first time actually getting surgery during the season and missing the whole season.
That's never happened before.
Yeah.
So that was different.
And I was just like, I had to take a grasp of that and come to a realization of what happened.
And, you know, it was tough because watching games and, you know, just being at the house and watching y'all play, then that was the toughest part because I wanted to be a part of that.
And that never happened before, like I said, with me being out for the whole season and trying to work my way.
back and doing everything I can to get back.
Kind of made me sit back and, you know, look at things different and like see, you know,
thinking of different, everything in a different light as far as what's going on and everything
around me.
And people change too, so it was different, you know.
You feel like it was more mentally trying than you thought it would be, then maybe
you anticipate, I want to say thought, like, anticipated.
because I guess
I'm trying to like being in your shoes
like you're part of this team you got all the boys
you got A.J. Brown you just got
you get Julio you're like hey this is going to be the team
where we do it you ran
2000 year before
for 2000 year before now we get an extra game
I'm about to break all I'm about to break
all this stuff like obviously you have
personal ambitions and then obviously team ambitions
as well and then it comes to a stop
and then you're going through all that and you're like
you're sitting there saying I sat back and
kind of reevaluate and assess things a little bit different
do you feel like those trying times were, you know, harder mentally than you anticipated them being?
Yeah, definitely it was mentally, it was tough mentally for real.
Because, like you said, everything was going and then just stopped, everything to stop.
And all you got to sit there, especially with breaking the bone, time.
So, you know, having surgery, and then going through that part.
And then I think once I got, like, was able to rehab,
stuff started speaking up a little bit.
But mentally, yeah, it was definitely tough
because I'm just like, man.
I mean, that's all I know.
You know, I put so much work and so much time
into football.
And, you know, when it's the season time, that's all I'm worried about.
It's all I'm thinking about.
I mean, I love this game.
And, you know, for everything to stop,
I'm just like, man.
But at the end of the day, I just, you know,
I had to put faith in the man above and trust what was going on
and, you know, trust his...
you know, this journey for me and then work hard to get back.
And I was able to get back, which wasn't good enough.
But, you know, I was just happy to be able to get back.
And then work in the off-season and then finish the season, you know, this year with the injury.
Because a lot of guys get the injury and it's tough to come back from.
But a lot of guys have came back from it, you know, reach out to Julio,
which he had two surgeries, two surgeries on it.
And it kind of gave me some encouragement about it.
It was tough.
It was different.
everybody.
Yeah, that's a different testament.
That's a sad thing.
I mean, I remember that, I remember the Colts came and you,
going up to you after that series,
and being like, you go, you're like, I think I fucked my,
my foot up.
My foot hurts.
That's basically all you said.
I played three quarters with a broken foot.
Three quarters of the broken foot.
I didn't know,
I kind of,
I figured it was broke when I was like,
you just don't want to believe me.
I'm like, man, my foot.
The adrenaline guy was, it was killing me, though,
the whole, the whole game, I'm like, man,
this thing hurting.
Walking on it, too.
Walking on it.
I mean, it was killing me.
I knew, like, after the game, I'm like, oh, man.
And then when we got x-rays,
bro, that was-looking, x-ray, his eyes got big.
I said, what's going on, bro?
What was the doctor that guy, when his eyes got big?
Dr. Petty, it was Dr. Petty.
And he was like...
It just, like, yeah, you broke.
It fits my heartis-known as a drone fracture.
And I was like, okay, when can I get back?
He was like, uh, I don't know about that.
It might be a while.
I was like, whoa.
Yeah, because you came back in the locker room.
Me and Ben waited for you.
The whole locker room was cleared out,
and me and Ben were like, we're going to wait for Derek.
And he walked back in looking sad.
Sad as hell.
And I was like, hey, what's up?
He just whispered, I'm done.
And then grabbed his towel and went and showered.
That was tough, dude.
It was tough.
Because we, especially Ben and I,
there's not a whole lot of accolades we can hang our hat on to be like,
this is, like, this is us.
and when you were having the year,
that was like the fucking year.
You're at like 937 yards.
And we're like, dude, we're really good at.
I know.
We're really.
Later in the year.
At the end of the year, he was still top five in rushing,
or just was six?
Jonathan Taylor.
I was like nine.
You're talking about Jonathan Taylor being an MVP.
I'm like, nine.
I know, which is crazy because everyone was like,
everyone was counting Derek out and we're like,
yo, this guy's balling right now.
I know.
Going crazy.
And we're all like,
This is going to be, like, it's your success.
But we were looking at us like, damn, this is our year.
Yeah.
This is the year that we're going to get Derek the record.
Yeah.
Yeah, man.
Bro.
I'm sure.
Yeah, I'm sure that that was difficult.
Could have been.
And two, with the bone, you can't, it can't.
It's like, it goes at its own pace.
Yeah, I know.
You can't sit there and rehab.
You can do a little bone stem machine.
They got hit on his own.
Like, oh, I'm going to take all.
I'm going to do everything I fucking can to get back.
And I'm not known to have patience, but I had to have patience with that.
You didn't have a choice with that have patients.
Yeah.
For sure.
Did you think, was there a possibility you heard it more?
Or was it just like, hey, that's a clear fracture.
It is what it is.
I think I heard it more when I play.
I would assume.
Yes.
I would assume you heard it more about playing.
Which is crazy because if you look back, you go, oh, I got to get out of the game right away.
Like if that happens, like, if you have the knowledge you do now, you're like, oh, I got to get out right now.
And you just let it ride.
Because we won.
Yeah, I know.
I don't know.
You still have like 60s rushing.
Yeah, I know.
But it was tough sled, but I don't know.
I think I still would have played.
Did you break one?
in that game?
No.
Thank God.
Yeah, I know.
Because I've been a tough look.
You've been hawked out.
I've been hopping on one leg trying to get to the end zone.
I wouldn't have made it at all.
It was hurting.
Yeah.
You can tell, too, this last game, this year when you played at the Colts and you were
balling again, like you were going off.
Like, I've never seen, usually when you score, like, we joke all the time, like,
it's just big eyes and kind of like, all right, back to the sideline.
You know what I'm saying?
But, like, when you were watching the game, I think we were texting in a group being,
like, Derek is legit.
I've never seen passion.
like that from you, getting in the end zone.
Everybody said that.
There was a noticeable difference in you.
What's that?
Everybody was asking,
they was like,
what got into you?
You don't know,
your helmet off,
doing all this.
I was like,
man,
I was just in the moment.
I don't know.
I was just in the moment.
There's got to be some sort of like emotional
when you get hurt somewhere
because the Indianapolis
the stadium is so unique
because that's where every single person's
NFL journey starts.
That is invited to the combine.
That's true.
You get to go to the combine.
You run there.
You look around.
You're like,
this is a legit NFL stadium.
I had to rephrase the question halfway through.
I know. I know. I said, yep.
But like, everyone starts the combat.
So for whatever reason, like, everyone has it in their head when they walk out there.
Like, this is where it all started.
All started for me.
And that's where you, one of your seasons was ended.
So there's got to be a place you went to before that game because we know how you keep
receipts.
We are very aware how you've said in the past.
Like, I don't keep receipts, but I remember.
That's how you phrased in the last podcast.
Yes.
Yeah.
I definitely wanted to be a different ending
than when I got hurt,
which still I would hurt,
but I didn't have a great game,
so I'm just like, man,
I got to go out there
and put out a different result
this game,
and that's just my main focus,
and we ended up winning,
and I think I played all right.
I didn't play.
I thought I wanted to play,
but I played all right.
I appreciate you talking about the injury stuff
because I just feel like a lot of,
like every probably running back in the world
probably looks up to you.
And people get hurt.
Yeah.
People get hurt or like,
times where it doesn't make any sense at all.
And it's like, you know, you speaking on it
is almost like shedding light.
Like, hey, these are, these are, like, man,
Derek went through something like this.
Yeah, no, it was real.
It's like, maybe I'm impatient.
He's talking about, oh, I had to be patient.
He had to do it too.
And you kind of like lean in, like,
oh, I want to be like Derek.
Yeah, for sure.
It was tough.
I mean, it was never easy.
But you always appreciate the adversity.
You know, varsity builds character.
It definitely, you know, made me better.
and, you know, made me tougher going through something like that.
I actually went to the middle of the season when everything was going
where I wanted it to and everything to stop.
But that's how life is.
You know, it stops and you have bumps in a row.
I get over them and try to come out on top at the end of the day.
Yeah.
Do you ever think about you've had the two,
you have the 2,000-yard seasons, you run your ass off, bro.
but getting hurt the last time do you ever think about your mortality more now in this league as you continue to get older?
As far as like...
It coming, you know, when the ending could be for you or how many more years you could possibly have in the tank.
And then, because usually an injure that end your season, you're like, fuck, man, I guess.
It makes you reflect me like, damn, I am human.
Yeah.
Right?
Yeah.
Yeah, definitely, you know, kind of brings you to reality a little bit, especially with, you know, I was having a lot of success and then everything's
stop and then went to like oh he's getting older the injury might slow him down and all the type of
stuff and you know it's a different outlook of everything because before it was like he's he's the
bees he's this and that and then it's like oh the injury's going to slow him down he's not the
same but you know you just try to block out the noise and then go back to work but I don't try to put
like a limit on how long I want to play or how I'm feeling you know I just go play you know I love
this game and I'll continue to work as hard as I can to
to play as long as I can.
And when I feel like I'm ready to hang it up
and not hang it up, but, you know,
every player probably wants to end it on their terms.
Sometimes it don't go that way.
But like I said, I just put my faith in the man above,
and then whenever it's supposed to end, it's going in.
But until then, I'm going to focus on getting better
and keep balling and do whenever I can to be one of the best in the league
and one of the best players on my team to let us win.
So that's always a goal, you know what I'm saying?
It's a scary, it's a, it's a scary,
thought, like, because
you don't want the Titans going to a rebuild
year with you
with a lot of good ball left.
And I just,
I want so bad, you made me laugh
so hard just now. I cried a little bit.
I want so badly for the,
I want so badly for the Titans
to do well. And I just hope that
they can do whatever they need to do
this year to like make sure it's like,
all right, we're a playoff contending AFC South
champion team again. And
I guess a better question is like,
do you think you do that through the draft or you do that through trades?
Because the Rams up until this year, they traded like we got to win now.
Like you're a generational talent.
Derek Henry is a generational talent.
How do we make sure Derek doesn't get wasted?
Yeah, I think as far as me, I don't think I need to be the focal point.
I think it's like what do we do on all three phases, especially offense, you know, to
to help the team better
and to play better as an offense as well.
And I think you just see what's out there,
see what you got to do as far as strategy-wise.
Again, this is above my pay grade.
But, you know, I just wanted us to get back to how we were playing
and doing the things that we were doing.
I want to win the championship here so bad
and want to bring the first one to national.
trail. But at end of the day, you know, we just got to get, you know, pieces in here
to put it all together, all together to make it work. And, you know, hopefully, you know,
that happened this off season and we'll be able to do that, bring some guys in to help us,
you know, spring us forward and then make some plays and go out, get back the ball in and doing
what we do.
How do you feel? Go ahead. Because to be successful for the Titans to truly be successful,
we can't just be, Derek Henry gets the ball. Like, you need to get touches and you need to get
20, 25 touches the game to be successful,
but we have to be able to push the ball
down the field from an aerial standpoint.
What do you think it is, Bill, to the draft trades?
I mean, at the end of the day,
until it happens, you're under contract.
I think you're a tight next year.
Like, you guys are both tights next year.
I can be the guy who asks the question.
But then, you got to fix the office line.
That's a, like, you, that is, I think,
the number one thing that the Tennessee Titans is to do
is they need to fix the office line.
They need to, if Ben, retires,
they don't find a center.
They need to find a left tackle.
They need to find a right guard if Nate doesn't sign.
back.
You need to hope that Nick Petit develops more from a rookie and takes a step in the next year.
You need a wide receiver.
And you got to figure out why the fuck these injuries are happening.
It happens once.
It's understandable.
Freak things happen in the season.
That was crazy.
We set the record.
We're still the number one scene in the FC South.
Now it happens two years in a row.
What is happening on that football field for the Titans to be hurt?
I don't think it's Mike Vrabble's problem.
I think Braves takes this guy.
that are older and guys are his stud players and he gives them opportunities to get healthy
and stay healthy.
But for whatever reason, it's not happening.
So why?
Why does that happen?
You just figure that out.
Objectively, there's two areas.
There's the strength and conditioning area and there's the training room area.
Yeah, but I'm saying.
Like if you're talking about, if we're, if we're asking questions on, you know, if we want
to play armchair GM, then we got to be able to, we got to be able to objectively say,
okay, well, what's happening on the field?
It's like, well, there's the two areas you look at.
Yeah.
I understand what you're saying.
It's like if you want to go down the road of, you know, hey, do you let go of the strength staff or the training room?
You know what I mean?
And I don't think it would be fair to put either of you guys in the situation to say yes or no.
I don't think.
I think Todd Torres-Salle is a phenomenal trainer, head trainer in this league.
I think he's got a great staff.
I think Frank is a good strength coach.
But maybe bring other people in like you would do in any business.
to help evaluate and say, these are things you can do better.
These are things you can improve on.
And then you guys give them the reins and the tools and say,
all right,
now you guys go do these things.
I'm not saying you need to replace Frank or Todd or their staff
because you do not.
I think those are,
I like them individually and I think they're good at their jobs.
But I'm just saying like it's going off of what you're saying.
Right.
What I was getting at is if we kind of stop there
and we kind of play the whole question
and then we kind of just let it be in the clouds.
then it leaves it up for translation for everybody else out there watching.
Like, oh, they could be alluding to this.
They could be alluding to that.
Right.
Or, you know, you get into like, you could bring in.
I'm talking about players.
Yeah.
And this whole, like, like Derek said, this is above all of our pay grades.
Where this is like, hey, it's not even worth touching because I don't know.
I don't know how to keep myself healthy, let alone an entire team.
So I would say, like, look at, like, how do we get players in?
Because if you look at our roster in camp,
starting day one of camp.
It's a good roster.
We have good players.
You're missing AJ Brown.
Hindsight's 20-20.
We missed on that.
That sucks.
I'm sure John will I take that back if he could.
I'm sure there's the actual truth that both sides are embellishing to help themselves a little bit better.
Yeah.
But obviously you wish AJ Brown was on this team.
But our roster wasn't bad looking at all.
We had a solid office line on the roster with a good right-tacled competition going on.
our defense, our front seven, was incredible.
Our back end, you had Roger McCreary, who's a young guy, but bald this year.
Did well for a rookie.
Like, I don't know if he was on any all rookie teams, but he should have been.
And then you have Hooker and KB.
And Hooker got hurt too this year.
And Fulton.
And Fulton, who also got hurt.
He missed, how many games?
Six games?
I'm not sure.
Yeah, he missed a handful of games.
He did that Cunningham.
David Long.
Yeah, but I'm saying, like, you look at the week one roster.
and I have the week one roster, the going into camp roster.
I think.
It's a good team.
How do you keep those guys healthy?
But who do you get?
Like, you got to fix the O' lot.
That's the number one thing.
Yeah, I mean, as far as like, you know, what's happened these past few years with,
these two years with injuries, I think it's just an evaluation of everybody.
What can we all do better to improve, you know, the organizations, you know, through players
and how we play and the injuries and just for everybody.
accept evaluation, what can I do to help, you know, us be better as whole.
And I think that's, that is needed because these past two years, it's been, it's been rough with injuries and, you know, all those type of things.
And we just never had like a series of where, you know, we had a couple games where we had everybody and everybody felt good and everybody was healthy.
So it's just like, how can we get to that?
How are these teams sustaining, you know, keeping their players, you know, throughout the whole season?
How does Roger Saffold get injured a whole bunch of the Titans
and goes to the Buffalo Bills
and has not injured the whole season
and plays well?
He's been bowling this year.
He's been balling this year.
Right?
And he's a year older
with less tread on the tires again.
And this is not me coming up the Titans
because I am,
everybody knows.
I'm extremely pro-tains.
I'm a part of the organization.
Right.
And for now, I am too there.
Like two or three more weeks left on the old belt here.
But I'm saying that I'm not coming at the Titans.
I think just like,
if I am the owner, if I'm Amy,
that's the number one thing I'm fixing
or trying to figure out how to fix
is why are these injuries happening
and how can we stop them from happening?
Because injury rate in NFL is 100%.
But you're hoping it's 100%
for like two, three guys a year.
And then you have the rest of your core foundational team.
But like even Jeff said in his exit,
his last interview in the Jags locker room,
he's like, I've been shooting on my ankle
every single week for eight weeks.
And Jeff's a dog.
But the shit's tough
I feel like our training staff
and strength and condition staff do a great job
But just like
I mean how can we all improve on
You know helping one another
And you know
Everybody's staying healthy and being out there
Being available
Because your best ability is availability
So yeah
Yeah
How did you feel about
DeAndra Hopkins tweet
What did you tweet out
He posted how many
That was from 2020
Wow.
But we can pull it up.
Oh, I saw that.
It's resurfaced.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Knowing that we could use a receiver.
You, Lamar Jackson, the trio,
the, yeah, the tweet that has resurfaced from 2020.
How many touchdowns?
Between Lamar, D'H.
How would you feel about that trio being in Tennessee?
I saw, you know, where they were saying that the Cardinals are looking to,
or we're looking to trade, hop.
I mean, who wouldn't want to play with Hopp?
He's a Hall of Fame Mar receiver.
Right.
And the same thing with Lamar Jackson,
but I don't think it's going to happen, you know.
I don't think,
there's definitely not going to let Lamar go.
He's not going anywhere.
And then DeAndre Hopkins,
it depends on what makes sense for your team
and what they want to, you know,
as far as the cap space and if they have the cap space for him.
So he's a great receiver.
You know, I love to play with, you know,
Deandre Hopkins.
I mean, that would be surreal.
He's a dog.
It just depends on what makes sense,
which, like I said, that's about my pre-grade.
I don't know, but.
You got to go, like, the Andre Hopkins on the outside,
you can't stack the box like that.
Yeah, people.
Helps everybody.
For sure.
Yeah.
Another question, like, what was it like on game day watching
A.J. Brown do A.J. Brown against Tennessee.
In that uniform.
I mean, I didn't expect anything less.
I knew AJ's going to go off because I've seen it here.
So, AJ going to do.
gonna do what he do if he's a dog.
Bro, when they had the penalty
and then he did it the second time.
Yes.
You can't do nothing, but just be like, man.
Yeah, but the sidelines like, damn.
Yeah, he really did it.
Jay is him.
I know.
Broke the single receiving record
affiliate's first year.
Do you really?
Yeah.
How many argy to get?
I feel like that was a straw
that broke the camel's back.
Something like that, yeah.
I think maybe over 1,500.
We don't have to get in all the J-Roy.
stuff, but I feel like that, like objectively, me being on the outside, not being on no team.
1496.
That's crazy.
But I always told him, I said, man, you get an opportunity, you're going to go crazy.
And you got an opportunity and you see what he did with it.
I texted.
I said, I'm proud of you, bro.
Just keep going, Fainter Strong and keep doing you.
Bro.
You got out of the Titans or the playoffs.
Who do you think you're going to see in the Super Bowl?
It's Philly in the Super Bowl.
I don't think so.
I think it's the Niners.
I think it's the Niners in Buffalo.
Niners is tough, but you just, you never know.
You really staying away from.
Kansas City still, huh?
I think Buffalo...
I think it can go either way.
It could be Kansas City or it could be Buffalo.
Yeah, I'm not going to root for Kansas City if they play against Buffalo, really, if they
play against anybody.
Why do you hate Kansas City so much?
I don't.
I don't hate Kansas City so much.
I know I kind of reacted right there.
I don't hate Kansas City so much.
I want to get beat up again.
It's just I'm not going to, like, root for them.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, I feel you.
Like, being, like, playing for the Raiders, like, that's their biggest rival.
I mean, you just, I don't know you just, I mean, you really never know because since he's, since he's good too now.
I know.
They did it again.
This is good too now.
You know, I'm just talking about two teens, but I would always argue against my mom too.
My mom loved Kansas City and I always be like, I was pro Dallas, but I would just argue my mom that she was dumb rooting for Kansas City.
They were always going to let her down.
They've obviously done well recently, but, uh, recently.
That's, I feel like that's like a subconscious, like something underneath why I always just root against it.
Do you think, do you think it's tough to, like, choose who's going to be at the end this year?
Yes, it's going to be a good playoff picture.
It's definitely a good playoff picture.
I feel like Kansas City is definitely like the Georgia Bulldogs of, like the AFC right now.
Like, they're on top.
But I think like.
Who's the Alabama of the AFC?
Probably the Jags.
Yeah.
You think so?
Yeah, I think so.
They'd be like right.
Yeah, like Bailey got in.
Yeah.
They were outside looking in.
Oh, wow, man.
They were outside of the conversation looking in, trying to get in last week.
came down at last week.
And they came down last week.
But I didn't know a lot.
Jackson playing really good ball.
They're dangerous, bro.
For the B3 and 7,
and then come back and play the way they have,
they've been,
you know,
they had something,
and they played well.
A lot like you guys in 2019.
2019.
Yeah, I mean,
they play well,
they play hard.
They play well on defense.
They go full,
full tilt.
Offense is playing well.
They've got some free agents,
guys who, you know,
lived up to,
you know,
what they sign for
and they've been playing well.
Trevor Lawrence
was a young gun so
falling.
They've been doing a good,
they've been doing a good job
so hats out to them.
I ain't never hate them
nobody.
I mean,
just,
their year,
they've been playing well.
Yeah.
You've owned them
historically, though.
That's for us.
I've had some good games.
That's for me.
We will say that.
I've had some good games.
Let's do
tear talk.
Yeah.
What?
Teer talk.
Teart talk.
It's going to be centered around you
so this is going to be easy.
you're really not
but but you're talking about
but this
this is gonna get bono proportion
go ahead
but it is what it is
because I yeah I will
but um you you talk about
you might have three more weeks
I mean I mean they might
might want to get me out of here
you mean you just you just never know
I mean anything can happen
I mean I'm 29 I'm up in age
you know what happened with
you know this year
and they might be
they might want to go young
you just never know they might
yeah I would be
I would be extremely
I want to leave. I love Tennessee, and I hope to be here the rest of my career.
I want to bring Super Bowl here, but it's the reality thing.
It's just the business side of it, you know.
You just never know.
In my age being 29 and leaving a league and a running back, that's considered, that's old.
So, you know, I just don't know.
Beating running back stereotypes right now.
You're the only back in.
I don't think so because I feel like Frank Gore did that.
Frank Gore played 16 years.
Yeah.
An anomaly.
Marcus, Allen played.
16 years
Adrian Peterson
been playing for
for a long time
Trying to be in the NFL right
Adrian Peterson
Yeah I think so
Yeah he is
So I mean those guys
Are definitely the standard
It's not like I'm gonna go out there
And like chase him
Like oh I gotta play that long
No
No but like I said
Whenever it's my time to be done
I mean I'm sure I don't know
You understand
You're like a science project
For everybody in the media
You're like
You know like 2,000 yards
You're in and you're out
Like when's it gonna stop
Once it's gonna slow down
Like okay he's gonna slow down
He works out way too hard
We all see this stuff on Instagram.
He works out way too hard.
He gets jacked.
How long can he keep this up?
And then you prove it again.
You prove it again.
Obviously, yeah.
When he's like you're beating the stereotype,
I think ultimately the universal stereotype is like how you haven't really seen anybody do what you've done for this period of time.
If you look at statistically, backs that have renegotiated your contract with the same team,
you're the only back in recent years that numbers have gotten better after getting an extension along,
a long-term extension.
And that has nothing to do with those backs
and how much they care about football.
Let's just say everybody equally cares about football the same.
Everybody equally works just as hard.
The running backs are fucked
to some extent
because everyone says running backs
only have so many years.
And you truly are,
like he's saying science sports,
you truly are one of those individuals.
It's like, hey, you're like in Tom Brady.
You're better be in Tom Brady year soon
for a running back where it's like, dude,
he's just still balling.
He is still just doing his thing.
People count them out.
people could be like, if you turn a game and you watched Denver this year,
when he had 40 yards, and you would say, oh, man, Derek, he's lost a step, he's whatever,
and you're not looking at injury as the king ended.
And then you look at the end of the season, it's like 16, you look at 60 yards.
No, but I mean, that's valid, you know, especially like with my injury and, you know,
me being up in age, those questions come.
Yeah, they come for everybody.
always come because, I mean, you know, running backs,
they're, they're spanning the NFL, it's not long.
And I know people probably brought us out of the portion about what I said,
but I'm just being real, you know, with, you know, the history, you know,
running back is 29, 30 is just, you know,
usually you try to get him out of there or think he's going downhill.
So what happened to Chris Johnson.
Chris Johnson was doing well in there like, we want to go young.
Yeah.
When he was in the podcast, that's what he said.
And then, like you said, you know, you know, office been sitting around,
me a long time and sometimes people won't see something different.
Maybe people are tired of seeing me.
Hey, that's a good point.
It's been to be sitting around me.
So, I mean, I'm just, I'm just being real.
I'm not saying I want to be trading anything like that,
but I'm just saying like, you just never know.
You just never know.
You don't ever know.
Like, it's like, that's with a new GM, he might be like, man.
Let's get this Henry boy out of here, man.
We've got to get him out of here.
Imagine, imagine, imagine Derek Henry in a different uniform in the
tight-ins.
Blasphemous.
That would be blasphemous.
It'd be weird for, yeah, you and Jack, right?
Two long-time Titan fans.
Literally, Derek gave you something to, like, believe in again.
I love Nashville.
I mean, it's been home for me.
Plus, Bama.
My little girls have grown up here, so, I mean, Nashville is home for me.
I love playing for the Titans.
I love the whole organization.
I love everybody in the organization,
and, you know, I love all my teammates I play with now and in the past.
At the end of the day, I mean, it's the NFL, it was not for long.
Right.
You just have a stress on the situation that could change.
And that's how it would go.
The owner or a new gym could look at like, oh, we're happy he just got 1600 yards.
Maybe that's, we can see that as him being at the top and use that.
Like, while we have him here right now, we could trade him off for some draft capital or for another, a younger.
Yeah, but if I'm Derek and if you're going to trade me, I'm like, all right, pay me then.
Pay me more money right now then.
What do you mean?
If I'm Derek, and I'm speaking for Derek, I'm not, Derek doesn't have to speak on this.
If you're going to trade me to, let's just say a random team.
your favorite team, Kansas City Chiefs.
Right.
I'm saying, all right, if you guys want to trade for me,
then you need to pay me this amount of money.
And then if I say no,
then the trade doesn't go through and Derek plays for the Titans.
Or he doesn't play, or he does whatever he wants?
I'm saying if, if...
Does a player have that ability to just...
Yeah, players can say that.
At the same time, you know...
I know with like...
I didn't take care of the ball well this year,
which, you know, I know Margo will hold myself accountable
for, you know, my fumbles or...
I'll turnovers and anything like that I need to get better at.
That's one thing about this game.
You think you arrive.
Not saying I have,
but I'm saying that always, you know, humble you and show you
that it's always room for improvement.
And that's what I always want to focus on is improving.
I need to prove on taking care of the ball better,
which I put us to harm away a lot this year.
And it kind of makes me feel like B-I-T-H
because I, you know, pummeled so much this year,
but something I need to do better at.
And I will definitely focus on this year in the all-season
taking care of the ball and practicing that a whole lot.
Is that something you look back on this past season?
You're like, damn.
Yeah, I just nags me every time, you know, I think about it.
I wish I could have done better.
But at the same time, stuff like that happens.
And you need to improve.
That's one thing I definitely want to improve on.
So, yeah.
Yeah, I definitely want to learn more about that little player thing
that you were just talking about.
You know, he sees, he say, pay me more or I won't go.
I believe players can say
I will not accept that trade
or like Grong did when he was the page.
I think I'm retiring.
I'm retiring and then you can like
fill the fiscal or something and they won't get past
like that.
If you don't, if you
have a trade clause in your contract,
then I think you could say
you kind of get to choose where you go.
But if you don't have a trade clause,
you don't have,
they can ship you wherever they want.
Oh, hey, no, you can't deal.
You got to pay me more.
No, we don't see you.
I think you don't have a trade clause.
They can ship you.
You can trade you wherever they want to trade you.
Damn.
And all I was speaking to is when you just have the perspective of, you know, when you're telling Taylor, like, you know, you say three weeks.
But, bro, you never know.
He's like, they can get rid of me.
Well, I could look in.
Well, I'm, I'm Taylor be sorry.
And I should have said something before.
But you've had this booger in your nose, this whole podcast.
The whole podcast?
Yeah, it's been sitting there.
Ain't none of y'all going to say nothing.
Boss can.
Boss can't.
Back there.
He's fucking.
Where is it at?
Where's it at?
You got it. It's gone now.
Oh, did it?
Okay.
But you think it was visible on the, uh, you think it was visible?
They can see it's probably not visible.
I don't know if it was hanging though.
It was hanging out right there.
Hanging grip and.
No, but what were you saying about, um,
I was telling like,
to refocus on for Will.
I was talking about the, the,
the method of somebody could be like,
okay, it's good that he ran for $16,100.
Like, maybe we think he won't be the same player going in the next year.
Yeah, I mean, that's, that's real.
Like, that's, that's,
He's trying to play armchair GM.
I'm not saying he's not.
It's just like, oh, damn, we could have, we could hedge our bet now.
It's good that he performed that well.
We don't think he's going to next year.
This is our time to trade him because he will be at his highest trade value right now with 1,600 yards, 2,000 yards, this, that, the other.
He proves he's healthy now for his season.
That's just, that's speaking to the perspective of you ultimately never know in the business of, like, you know, the NFL.
You don't know.
I mean, do we think AJ is going to get traded?
No.
No, so I'm saying.
You just don't, you never know.
And that's just the reality of it.
I mean, it's a business.
Yeah.
And Tennessee Titans is a business.
It's not Derek Henry stays here forever or any other person here forever.
It's a business.
They're going to look out for what's best for the organization and a business before anything.
No, nobody's bigger than, you know, the organization.
So that's just real.
That's just real.
No, no, you're right.
You're right.
You're right.
You're, that is.
You won't good things to last forever, but in the NFL, it really, really doesn't.
I want a person who really has the last forever for Tom Brady,
and he did what he wanted for a long time.
As soon as he's done, there's a $300 million contract.
Yeah, so, you know what I'm saying?
It's worked out for him very well.
As long as he's wanted to play.
Yeah.
I wonder what's going to happen in this office.
What was your reaction, like, I'm sure the same as everybody is.
What a boring-ass question.
I was going to say, what was your reaction on draft night when you saw A.J. got traded.
I was, I was mad.
I'm just like, what's going on?
We couldn't get it worked out.
We'd trade.
That's like my little brother, I mean, like, we was a tandem.
You know, I was like, man, I was hot.
I talked to him on the phone because I was just like, man.
Because nobody expected that.
He was like, what?
Right.
Tramary, AJ, a proven receiver.
So, yeah, I was, I mean, I was kind of, I was shocked.
I was hurt.
That's my dog.
Yeah, is that a situation being closer to me?
You're like, low key, why did any of you guys, any side keep me in the loop on this?
Because I could have been a tool to keep AJ.
here.
No, because I
ain't think it's
going to happen.
I was,
I was waiting
for it to come out.
AJ Brown
signed a hundred
million dollars
with the Titans.
I was waiting
on that.
Yeah.
I was literally,
I think,
what I was doing?
I was walking in the room
and it said,
AJ Brown trade
to the Eagles.
I was like,
what?
Yeah.
I was like,
oh, that was wild.
That was wild.
I was watching
the job.
Like, oh my God.
We called each
like right away.
Yeah.
But I will say
the guys who
play receiver
this year,
they did,
you know,
a great job.
You know, it was tough, especially being, you know, first year with Rob and Trayling being a rookie.
And then Nick, you know, he's been here going on year three.
He's been solid for us.
I mean, they did the best job they could, man, and tried to fill in and make plays for us.
It ain't always easy.
It's never going to go to the way we wanted to go and, you know, hats off to them, you know,
because trying to play somebody like, AJ, who just broke the single season record for the Eagles.
And been going crazy.
try to replace somebody like that and living in that shadow,
that's tough for anybody,
but I feel like they tried to do the best job they could.
That was wild, yeah.
It was tough.
It was tough.
And then playing with three different quarterbacks
and trying to build a chemistry and everybody,
that's tough.
I like how you say mindful of everybody
who could be involved in a situation.
Yeah.
You go back to make it a point to talk about the guys who came in
when I was just on a surface level.
Yeah, no, because I don't want to leave like,
dang, I'm not that type of teammate to leave anybody hanging.
It's hard in this league.
you know, and, you know, anything can happen and, you know, injuries happen and guys got to step up and guys got to make plays.
And, you know, AJ was a big-time player for us and then you end up in on another team and other guys got to step up.
And I thought they tried to do the best that they could.
Yeah, that's right.
And just like you pointed out with the lineman and guys go down and other guys got step up.
I never, they probably never thought that.
Like, man, they'll be starting in two or three games and look, you know, that's just what it is.
How about Jordan Ruse and Corey Levin?
Tough.
You know, did, went out there and laid it all out.
And then, you know, I'm watching them throughout camp and throughout the season.
All the confidence in them, you know, because they love this game and they play hard.
They just like you guys.
They seem like they really played well in those last few games.
Should we hit the tear talk?
People just bash everybody, man.
You know, dude.
I know.
It's one thing when a player know, you.
You know, he's not playing as well as he, you know, should be or, you know,
playing to the standard that, you know, everybody expects somebody to play.
And players already know that.
So, you know, and people always speak on, like, mental health and all this type of stuff.
But people don't know that you contribute to that, you know, when, say, a player lashes out or something happening,
they be like, oh, man, mental health is so important.
But people don't realize you contribute to that when you sit there bashing the player
when they already know, you know they're playing bad and then got to.
go watch it and then got to get coached by it and then still trying to
mentally be there to get past that game and go to another game and play as well as they can
while you know you know social media and all this type of stuff and you know somebody
asked me during the season about social media comment I was like man I don't get into all that
because how I'm going to do all that and try to do my job the best way I can but you know that's just
a way to world now and you know with fantasy football and guys ain't play ball
but I see all the time people like man don't care about your fantasy football but it's just
what it is,
NFL's about money,
and, you know,
we all got a job to do.
We all, you know,
play this game with our,
with a heart out,
and sometimes it don't go the way
that we wanted to,
especially each game,
because it's tough.
And, you know,
you get bashed,
people get bashed,
but,
in a day,
we, we,
we're human beings,
you know what I'm saying?
We got feelings too.
We, you know,
we try to do our best,
and sometimes,
it don't happen to where we wanted to,
but I just,
I don't know,
I'll just think about players
in mental health
and all the type of stuff,
and,
you know,
sometimes it get tough for certain people
when you don't know them and what they're going through.
Yeah.
No, I feel you were saying something too.
You're like, you, ultimately, you already know when you have a bad game.
You're already, you're...
And Taylor can attest to that.
When you know you're playing bad and, you know,
you got to watch how you play bad
and you got to get coached from it and you are already, you know,
in your head, like, man, I got to pay better,
try to move on from that because it's a new week.
But you still, like, hang out.
you know, you still got that hanging on you.
Your home worst critic.
Your coach is always saying.
Your players are hearing the same thing.
Then you're trying to like get past at that next week.
Media is still talking about it.
Then people on the internet.
Like it's just multiple ways when you're also trying to be like mentally tough
and persevere through some adversity.
It's like people don't understand that they.
I think people do understand because it's what we signed up for.
At the end of the day, man, there's a lot of mental stuff that you,
like we always say the game is 10% people.
physical, 90% mental, 10% physical.
Because, I mean, physical part, we got it.
That's why we hear this way you're not.
But mentally, you got to be locked in to be able to sustain and play this game
for as long as you have, how long as the seasons are, and play it at a high level
over and over again.
And I think that, you know, anytime I see people, you know, bashing players and saying
they're playing bad, especially with this fantasy football stuff.
I mean, things football is great.
It's entertaining.
At the end of the day, you know, we, we human, you know, we love this game.
We're not trying to play bad on purpose.
Sometimes you don't have good games.
We love to go for 100 yards and go crazy every game.
Yeah, but it's reality of it.
It don't happen that way all the time, you know what I'm saying?
And I just think that, you know, when people bash people playing bad, they already know that.
You don't have to, but that's just the way of the world now.
It goes both ways, too.
Like, everybody wants to have 100 yards, but then when you have games like you've had in the past,
if Derek Henry just gets 100 yards,
like, why is they going to get 100 yards?
I need some touchdowns.
100 yards is only 10 points for me on the favorite.
Right.
I'm trying to get.
I understand.
It's like, be mindful of like, you know,
these players, man, because a lot of players can't.
And I'm fucking around too, by the way.
Yeah, I'm saying, a lot of players can't take that type of stuff.
Like, with somebody who on the Internet
wants somebody to come to their job and just critique them by everything they do,
or you don't do this right?
And you're like, how you're going to tell me how to do my job?
Exactly.
That's how we feel.
we got a chance to put your job
I don't think is
when our job is on TV and everybody has an opinion
on it you know what I'm saying so they get to say
what they want to say but if it was a regular day job
and we got to all the pro players
go to a random person job
and critique them on everything you know what I'm saying
they don't mentally fall apart
it's entertaining though yeah it's not what it's entertaining
I think that what separates
an individual from a good to a great player is being able
to mentally handle those types of situations
yeah because you have a bad game you're
Right. If I have a bad game, I not only have to have the bad game, I have to go home,
I have to watch a film on that bad game because you obsess over it.
You're like, damn, what could I have done better?
And you watch every little thing.
And then you do two things.
You say, man, I really got fucked up in this situation or I really messed up.
And then you start playing your own ego kicks in where you're like, well, it wasn't that bad.
All I have to do is change X, Y, and Z.
And I'm straight.
And I'll fix that next time.
Then you go to-
Coach, though, doesn't go too hard about it.
Then you go to sleep, you wake up anxiety.
because you know you hit that team meeting.
You know how variable can get in team meetings.
You go to the office linemen meeting, Keith Carter.
You know how Keith Carter was in those meetings.
I told you about those.
Like, he will just go off on dudes.
You're hearing over and over and over again.
And then as soon as that Monday hits like,
okay, now take a, take your Tuesday,
make sure you're recovered and get ready to work Wednesday for the next game.
And the ability to take all that anxiety and stress
and feeling like a failure and having imposter syndrome
and then turning around to Wednesday
and being able to now work Wednesday, Thursday, Friday,
Saturday and go play another game and then have a good game, that's what separates players
from being good to great.
Because people have talent.
Everybody has talent.
Even dudes that on the third string on certain times, they have talent.
It's just about when you mess up, how quickly can you get over that?
Sometimes it's one play.
Like, I have to get over this in one play.
I give up a sack.
I have to move on right now.
If you make a bad cut and you know you made a bad cut, it's like I have to move on from
that right now.
But not just, I mean, football players and everything, when we go through a lot of
too, but everybody in life
you go through a lot.
So I'm just not trying to, you know,
trying to separate football players
from anybody else in the world.
I mean, everybody goes through everything.
But I feel like, man, just hold your head,
keep faith and just keep working
and trust and believe in what you do
and how you work and everything
or work out the way you wanted to,
especially, you know, playing football.
You know, like I said earlier this year
to, like some of my team, teammates,
you know, as a little kid,
if God told you how to do this and this
to get to the NFL, you would do it, no question, to make it to your dream.
And then I think sometimes when we get to the NFL, you kind of forget about a kid that
would do anything playing on rec league field or in your parents or grandparent's front yard
of, you know, making the NFL and then being a big star one day, whether you are a star or
if you made it, you will accomplish something, you know what I'm saying.
So being grateful for what this game has done and what God has done in your life and all the
people that help you get to this point in life.
Because some people who got a lot worse, some people who still working their way to
do accomplish something in life, but you're on the NFL team and you made it.
And even if you didn't make it long, but you got to where you always wanted to be as a kid.
And you, you know, you accomplish something in life.
And I think sometimes we forget that.
And one thing I always try to remind myself, it could always be worse.
even if I have a bad game or if I do something,
I just harp on it really bad.
Like I said, like you say,
like everybody's their own worst critic,
and I'm definitely mine,
and I beat myself up a lot.
But at some point you just got realized,
man, I'm blessed to be where I'm at
and to have these problems because, you know,
you know, it's never easy,
and it's no, it's hard to play in this league.
But at the day, I'm always going to be grateful,
grateful for this season,
even though we didn't go to what we wanted it to.
And in the,
where we wanted to, but at the end of the day, you know, I got to grow and I got to see a lot
that I need to get better at. It helped me, you know, become better teammate. And each, each year,
you learn something. I feel like you learn something this year about yourself and what you
want to do. And each year, I feel like we all, we all learn something. And that's the thing about
God here, show you what you, you know. The beautiful thing about you seeing on this podcast is saying
that is people are going to be able to hear that and people are going to be able to see that, like,
because people look at 51 or 77 or 22
and they see us on TV and it's polarizing to them
for you to be able to sit on a microphone
and explain what people go through on a day-to-day basis
and how everyone has issues
that's going to resonate with a lot of people.
Yeah, I just want to be read because it's been in my heart
for a long time and I just want to speak on that
because I see guys in the league
and I see guys all over that, you know,
I know they work hard and I know they try to do everything that they can
and just it happened to them for them right now
but, you know, you look at guys that struggle,
but now have came, you know,
who've gotten over, you know, the adversity hump
and it's not balling.
And try to tell guys to stay with it,
trusting your work,
trusting, you know, everything that you do
and everything that happened the way,
the way you wanted to.
And people always have something to say.
Everybody has their own opinion.
As long as you lock in and focus in,
have a ton of vision of what you want to do
and what you want to be,
it would happen for you.
You know, and, you know, it's hard to avoid what people say being on the internet, being on social media.
Because, I mean, it's everywhere nowadays.
But I feel like, you know, as long as you stay locked in mentally and everything to work out the way you want to.
And it's tough sometimes because it can get in your head and it can make you feel some type of way.
And you start to believe those things, you know, sometimes.
But sometimes you got to, you know, distract yourself and just focus on.
your craft and what you need to do.
And sometimes, like you did,
you got off social media
because sometimes people,
it can,
you know,
come control,
can be controlling
and let it control you.
And, you know,
social media can be,
it can be toxic.
I mean,
it is toxic at,
at times.
And a lot of people get caught up in that.
And you just don't want it to,
you know,
take over who you are as a person,
don't lose yourself as a person,
and just remember,
you know,
what got you to do where you are.
And, you know, that's just the way of the world now, but I just wanted to let everybody know in the world and the football world hold your head.
Yeah.
You know, it ain't never, as rough as you think it is, it can always be worse, man, and just keep doing what you do, stay locked in and just keep working, man.
No matter what nobody say, somebody's always going to have something to say.
Yeah.
If they ain't saying, you ain't doing nothing.
Is there anything you'd want to say to the fantasy owners that you let down this year?
I am tell you
Sorry, man
Hopefully I can be able to
Showcase
A little bit better
And give you some more
Fantasy points
But I think
You know, every player in the league
We just try to go out there
And ball
Sometimes it don't go to
The way we want it to
It don't mean
We like F your fantasy team
It's the one
It wasn't our day
It wasn't our day
It's like death taxes
and a football player being like,
I don't give a fuck about your fantasy team.
That's every year, you know what I mean?
When you're seeing a young guy do,
you're like, hey.
People can talk crazy to you now about, you know,
people get caught up in that, in that fantasy stuff.
I want to say AJ had a crazy story.
When he comes on again, I would let...
I'm sure everybody has crazy stories.
People talk crazy to me about being football,
especially people talking about fantasy football,
but, you know, I just ignore it,
but it can get crazy sometimes.
I don't know.
No, my fantasy football stuff,
but at the end of the day, man,
We just try to go ball and do the best we can.
And if you're a fantasy balling, you balled out this year
or you've been doing it at a yearly basis,
keep doing your thing.
I know as a GM, I'm a winner this year.
I took home the gold.
I take a lot of pride.
I mean, it's a playoff.
They do take a lot of pride.
They take a lot of pride in advanced football, for real, though.
Should we hit tear talk before we let the king leave?
What I'm going to talk about it?
Yeah, we do need it.
It's five o'clock.
Damn, we're talking for a minute.
I know.
We've been talking for a while.
Our tier talk.
Derek Henry Stiff Arms.
No, don't do this.
Why not?
You got a lot.
I got it.
Our tier talk, it would be like your best
step arm, your second best stepfarm,
your third best, most iconic stiff arms.
We can do a different one if you want.
We want to do a different one?
Derek Henry Stiffarms.
All right, all right, all right.
I got it.
Before we do Tier Talk, can we at least get a top three
like Derek Henry Stepharms?
I want to do, I have my three.
Oh, what's your three?
y'all can do it but i'll just
you don't have your favorite stiff arms that you look back on
you like all this i don't look back on
stiff arms like what are your favorites
what was the highest price one no i didn't never really put them out though
i never really because that market kind of
oh yeah yeah no
but you don't like look back and be like i got a top
you know stiff arm catalog i think when i'm done i will
because i feel like i still got some more emmy
as i'm still playing but right no no no no no no no no no no
disrespect, but no, I'm just waiting to see
when I'm done to reflect on it.
Yeah. How would this? Will say
our top three, um,
stiff arms and you use one word to describe
how you feel about our top three.
All you have to do to say one word, how you feel
about Will and I, stiff arm
tears.
No, no, because I ain't trying to
embarrass nobody, man. It's been enough,
it's been enough, you know what I'm saying? We've been to talk about
enough. I just, yeah, I don't do that.
No, no, bro.
I will do.
Tear talk this week.
Michigan State.
You'd probably go, man, polarizing.
It would probably be the Josh Norman one.
And the third one is either personally seeing it on TV.
Because I got to see it's Josh Norman one.
That was funny.
Guy came up off the bench.
Holy fuck boys.
We got to go see what it just happened.
But objectively watching.
the Earl Thomas one
And I say that too
Like I would say this was Josh
Josh's a boy before we were teammates
That's what
That's unfortunate
It could have happened to me
Um
Didn't know
Didn't but
Either Earl Thomas
Or honestly bro
The one you had last week
When you got old boy
On the sideline
And you kind of like
You know
Hey come on now
You don't have to flex
But you kind of stood up over
For a second
Yeah watch out
I hope you understand
I just dropped you son
I'll say four, you don't have to say nothing.
Don't say nothing.
You will.
But those are probably my tops.
My top stifference.
Do you have any?
I don't know if the king wanted this to happen.
Go ahead.
He's already done it.
My top three, my number three stiff arm by Derek Henry,
would go in the national championship game against Michigan State,
which you did to Shalik Calhoun.
That was a playoff game.
Playoff game.
Sorry, the playoff game.
I apologize, sir.
You picked up that two or seven-and-pound man.
Not only did you stiff arm him,
you spun him in a way that blended, like 90-degree angle,
blended him and he fell to the ground.
It was iconic and it was Michigan State, which was nice for me.
Jack Conflin was part of that team.
Number two, Earl Thomas.
Because Earl was talking all that shit the week before.
I like Earl.
I've never met Earl, but I like Earl quite a bit.
Got to chop the arm.
Yeah, I chop the arm.
That's all you.
We ain't scared him.
We're going to stand up to him.
Man, I got 200 on y'all, Earl.
Shut up.
I would do, and you basically
turn him into a blocker for you.
And my number one, stiff arm,
my number one stiff arm play
is against the Jacksonville Jaguars,
99 yards.
Not one, not two, not three,
but possibly four stiff arms
for a 99 yard touchdown.
That shit was so hyped too
because we literally called it before.
Called that touchdown.
Yeah.
Now back to the main topic of discussion.
Have you changed your chance
on the Wendy's Burger?
Wendy's Burger, bro.
I said, you had gave me a burger,
and I said,
but Winnie's burger is way better than that burger.
And then we went on to other burgers,
but I don't know how it stuck
that Winnie's had the best burger.
Wendy's over five guys?
When he's over five guys?
Nobody makes enough money to go to five guys and eat.
Winnie's over five guys.
That's what you think?
Winnie's for five guys.
I'm going to say,
Wendy's over five guys, you know.
He's trying to go again, bro?
No.
Bro, come on.
No, no, no.
Yeah, I know my back is
You're looking at my back
No, you're welcome
I'll stop because you're back
Oh, bro
Everybody know that
That's horrible
Now listen
Wendy's a good burger
I
I just got a little thing
Go ahead
Please stop with the Winnie's
I never said
Winnie's was the best burger
Winnie's over five guys
And he's like
Why is he'll keep bringing
up the Wendy's burger?
No
No
No
We can stop right now
What's best burger
You were in the locker
You were in the locker
You were in the locker
You were in the locker
I do want that to be said
That's the whole point
That's why I went to
Wendy's after practice.
Yeah, I know, because I thought you had mentioned somebody.
I said, Wendy's burger is better than that burger for sure.
And you was like, no, bro.
And I said, bro, I'm telling you, Wendy's burger is better than that one.
I forgot which, which burgers was one you mentioned, though.
I forgot which burgers followed was.
I guess what I was.
I mentioned a five guys.
It was something else.
What's the best burger?
It's probably DQ.
And if I said DQ, I'm definitely just trying to get in the mix and just...
Yeah, you definitely was DQ.
Because every day in the locker room, everybody was kind of just arguing.
The best burger?
Ooh, that's tough.
and out is no
no
no
and somebody lives in Dallas
their burger
brain wash
it's good but it's not like
the best
the best burger their fries are not it
we're not talking about fries
I'm not talking about the burger
yeah but I'm just saying overall
the burger the burger's pretty good
but it's not one of the best no
noted
okay so can you
give me your list
top five
I think mine might have changed actually
okay come on
number one would be in and out
number two
I don't know, look at them crazy.
I'm like, number two is Carl's Jr.
I never had that burger before.
And number three,
if we're keeping fast casual in it,
which I think there's an argument both ways,
fast casual,
meaning there's no fast,
like there's no drive-thru.
I see where you're going,
because it is.
I would probably throw Shake Shack in there.
Shake Shack is fire.
Hit.
Shishak is fire.
Honestly, being in Nashville,
it's like my three favorite burger.
I heard Hugh Baby's hits too.
I've never had Hugh Babies.
Bye.
Hugh Babies, bro.
Those are my three favorite burgers.
You've had Hugh Babies?
Whoa.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Hey.
Yo, yo, yo, yo.
Yo.
Jack Browns?
Jack Browns is fired.
Oh.
But that's that thing is going to dine.
You go in and get a tea.
All the thing wrong with Jack Browns is they don't have like, like, they don't have like lettuce,
lettuce, tomato.
It's just burger and cheese.
or it's like a little bit of sauce.
They don't have like lettuce tomato.
They're like the cream cheese and jalapino jelly.
Lettuce tomato.
They just like the regular burger or the regular double cheeseburger.
If they had lettuce tomato or they would be top.
Waterburger.
So what are your favorite burgers?
Let's see.
Not a top five, but I like Shake, Shack.
Waterburger.
Are we doing two tier talks?
No, no, no, no.
I like Waterburger.
I think another.
No, no, no, don't interrupt me.
It's like, Wooda Burger's overrated.
They're saying, like, fast food spots.
This is what we're talking about fast food spots.
Yeah.
Jake, Waterburger.
Bro, how were you arguing Wendy's,
and Wendy's isn't in your list?
That's what I'm...
Winnie's kind of fell off.
Okay.
Now I am trying to figure out what happened
in that locker room to make you...
Windies fell off.
Bro, I did not...
Why are you...
He's going to die on that hill and when...
I did not crown Wendy's.
You made a whole...
I remember being saying Wendy's East.
A sweet video about going to Wendy's
and the drive-thew and everything.
Manate's on the side of his lip
and everything.
With a fresh coat.
Dare, I'm not going to lie.
This Coke's really helping this burger right now.
Yeah.
I remember all that.
You're taking a Coca-Cola?
Dr. Pepper, which one of you have?
And then you go, you know, I can't.
Something about like drink soda,
I'm watching my diet or some shit.
Yeah.
As I continued it inhale the burger.
That's so funny.
I was like, you don't think you guys to five guys?
Five guys is.
Five guys is good.
Five guys.
It's just a lot of grease.
I can't handle the responsibility of five guys.
It's a lot of grease.
A lot of grease.
Like, you might pay for it.
You know what I mean?
You do pay for it.
You do pay for it.
But it is a good ride.
Hold on.
I'm going to ask you all this and I'm done.
Saxby's or Raising Keynes.
Cains.
Cains.
Whoa.
Cains, no question.
Cains over Zach's 10 out of 10.
What?
Beat his ass.
Hey, what do you think about Bojangles?
Okay, tell me what makes, what?
What makes Zaxby's better than Raising King?
The menu.
Raising Kay's menu is just...
I will say, Derek, you are an elite with your facial reactions.
That's how you got everybody stirred up in the locker in the first time.
Anytime somebody says something in the locker room, Derek, that reaction right there, he just got the most...
What?
Okay, okay, okay, so they do...
Jackers has a better variety than the Raising Keynes.
But as far as the food, so you understand the food better or the meat.
menus better. Well, like, Keynes doesn't even have wings. So Zachsby's wings are
trash. They're better than Keynes. They don't have them. They don't have wings. Their chicken
tenets are better than both their wings and... That's my point, though. But if you see
Zaksenters are better than both their wings and chicken tenders, whatever they call them.
Keynes did also kind of copy Zach sauce. Cane's sauce is way better than Zax. Caj's.
Zach's copied Keynes.
No,
Zachs was around first.
No, it was not.
Look at it.
Kainez was a,
was made, listen.
J.P.
You know, or do you know?
Cades was made by a guy
that went to LSU
and he named the thing
after his dog.
Wasn't it like a class project?
Yeah, as a class project,
he had a D on it and they said
that'll never work.
And he was like, all right, cool.
Dropped out of college
and made Raising Cains with the guy
who ended up branched off
and making Zaxpies.
Look it up, dude.
Really?
Oh, wow.
Whoa. Whoa. I hope that's right, bro.
I don't know about that.
I hope that's right.
I was just, what you just said?
I was like, oh, my God.
It was the other way around.
You made it sound of legal, too.
I'm like, whoa.
We've got to drop the mic after that one.
I think it was.
Wow.
No, it wasn't.
Wow.
Oh, my.
Everything I just said is going so good, though.
Look at you up there.
This is what the internet does, boys.
Don't believe everything you were in the internet.
That flavor list, copycats.
chicken. Hey, remember, hey,
remember back in the day when we were talking about
burgers? And I was like, Taylor's a storyteller.
He's a great storyteller.
But look, but look.
Listen, everybody.
He's an insult, but thank you.
No. We're talking about this fast food
and all this greasy food, but me and Taylor,
we eat pretty healthy. I don't know about Will, but
we eat pretty healthy.
And no, no, I'm just, I just wanted to say, guys,
I've changed my diet this past year and it's been
remarkable. And it showed, buddy. You look fantastic.
It helped a lot.
It was my first time.
actually really like being strict with it.
And all I drunk
all year was straight water and I'm still doing it.
He killed to me during camp and he's like, what do you
what do you drink? I was like, I
just drink water. He's like,
juice? No, I don't do any juice
or nothing. Like what? Two days
later he's like, all I drink is water and he hated
it. All I drink is water, bro. I'm drinking
anything else. So
I come in a locker room.
I'm like, Taylor, so
like your diet, what is
what is it consists of?
And then as far as the season,
how long do you do it?
And then whenever the season is old with,
do you give your time to, like,
you have time to have a cheat meal or something like that?
He was like, bro.
He's like, yeah, after the season,
I might have a cheat meal here and there,
but like once I get, like,
locked by can, I'm back in.
I'm all, you know,
I'm eating healthy and everything else.
I don't really cheat much.
But if I do, hold on, hold on,
rise of the season.
What he said,
but during the season,
around the season around,
I don't really eat anything.
I have my meals and just in that.
So I'm like, okay, cool.
no, I'm about to get God.
So, so.
When he was talking, I was like,
I'll play a long.
So we have, so they have like, we, we just do that little
Mills, uh, O'Lond dinner on Thursday.
Yeah.
And they were having a,
a fantasy, uh,
draft night.
And, um,
Oh, bro.
I,
I walk in, I walk in, uh,
Taylor's house, you know,
go to the little, uh, man areas.
Man Cave is, uh,
his chill area.
Everybody's sitting there.
I'm like, dang, so smell like,
fried chicken.
in here something with some hot sauce,
barbecue salt, lemon, pepper, everything
going on.
Smell going crazy in there.
So I'm like, okay.
I'm like, tell the who these wings for?
He's like, oh, I got it for the boys.
See, I got some boys.
He's like, man, I already ate.
I'm full.
You know, Blasey, Blasease.
It's true.
He's about to tell a lie.
So we get, you know, 15, 20 minutes in.
He's about to tell lie.
I'm like, oh, man, everybody eating.
I mean, Ben, killing them.
Nate, they're killing them and everything.
They're just breathing.
I'm like, man.
They're just breathing.
I'm like, man.
I'm like, I'm from the slides.
I'm about to slip up.
I'm about to slip up with my die out and travel on these wings.
And guess who's eating wings?
Mr.
I'm like, Taylor, what, what's this?
I thought it was all locked in.
He was like, no, I just had one wing this and that.
Then I leave.
Then I hear it turned to one, turn to two, turn to three, turn to four.
I'm like, what?
After that, I was like, you know, I'm on, I'm on my own for now.
Oronius.
On all it counts.
I'm wrong.
No.
Derek shows up.
I'm going to tell my side now.
Derek shows up.
We have the fantasy draft.
I get the wings for the boys.
Strike out wings.
For those of you haven't had strikeout,
best wings in Nashville.
No,
no free shoutouts.
They get,
I get all that.
I got those for the boys.
I made sure to eat before you asked me,
are you eating these wings?
I said, no, I'm not going to eat the wings.
I'm going to, I'm hanging out.
I'm just going to do the draft and they're going to go home.
Derek, the first pick in the draft happens.
It wasn't Derek.
Derek gets up and goes,
I'm a slide.
That is not what happened.
You are a lie.
I was there for a while.
I was there for a while.
I took Derek.
That is a lie.
Derek leaves.
Hours go by.
The boys are still chilling.
I get up and yes, I had two wings.
That's it.
No, I let you talk.
I get back to the locker room.
And sure enough, I fuck it.
The first person I see in there that day is Derek.
And he's like, would you eat yesterday?
I was like, oh, I had the,
meal, like I said I did. He's like, you didn't have any wings? I was like, no, I didn't have, I
any wings. That's weird because Ben and Nate and I said, okay, so then that...
Two wings. So, did you have two wings? And I was like, yes, I had two wings, Derek. I had two
wings, I'm sorry. And he was, I'm by myself now. That's it. I have to, I thought you were
about it. So, dude, who story you believe? Because I asked him about the wings and he told me he
didn't. So I had to find out from Ben. Yeah, I lied. I lied. I like to tell his
who, who stories. Exactly. It seems like the story, the results all the same.
Right.
I had two wings.
It seemed like when he asked and you're like, no, he lied.
And they were fire.
And they were fire, you think he only had two?
There were two left.
No.
I waited so long.
There were two left.
No, no, my boy.
You said how you talk about him?
No, he had more than two.
Before you leave, are you going to Vegas with the boys?
I think I'm going to Vegas with the boys.
I cannot wait.
It's going to be an honest at the same time.
Leave me one.
Leave me one.
There you go.
Just leave me one.
There you go.
Hey, also one question before we leave.
If it's not this spring,
What about getting with Derek and going to Tuscaloosa for a spring tour?
Maybe not this spring or next, but...
Someday.
Yeah, we can do it.
Yeah, we definitely can do it.
I'm down.
You down to go to Tuscalo?
Yeah, I haven't been in a while, so I'm definitely going.
Just let me know.
Yeah, threw me for a loop right there.
Just let me know.
I'll definitely, I'm down.
Right back down, boys.
He said yes.
Remember because Thanksgiving it didn't seem like he was feeling it as much.
Yeah, because we did bring it up Thanksgiving here.
I don't know.
I was like, oh, shit, Jack's.
He's asking something.
We've already kind of talked about it.
But I really.
But Derek seemed like he didn't want to do it because he was, like, he's like, he's like, I haven't been there in a while.
I don't know how to be received.
And that's just me thinking, that's just me seeing a dude not understanding his legacy.
Like, he's going to go there.
People are going to be like.
Probably because it was like still the season.
I didn't.
I was like, man, I don't know what's going to happen.
But now, yeah, I'm down.
I haven't been in a while.
Let's go back.
Let's go, boys, this March or April.
We will be in Tuscalo.
It would definitely be lit if, like, we went during the season.
It was like a bye week.
That would be, it would be crazy if y'all was ever did.
We could set that up also
But I'm just saying like
Imagine like during the season
And I got to go and it was a buy week
You guys sell out?
