This show isn’t about expert advice and how fatherhood is the greatest thing on earth—it’s about embracing the love and suck of parenthood every day. From balancing work and family to battling the mental load, fears, and the moments that wreck you in the best way, we dive into it all with honesty, vulnerability, and a sense of humor. Cause at the end of the day... us dads have no idea what we're doing. Alongside Will is his producer Sherman Young, a recently new father who’s currently deep in the trenches of Fatherhood and loving every minute of it. Together, they’ll break down everything that can go right and wrong (...usually wrong) when you bring tiny humans into this world. Expect funny parenting stories, laughs, call-ins, advice, weekly themes, and the kind of conversations you’d have over a cold beer in the garage. Whether you’re raising teens or still Googling “how to install a car seat”, For the Dads is the ultimate podcast for dads who are in it, about to be in it, or just trying to do their best while screwing it up along the way. ----- FOLLOW THE BOYS Instagram: / Forthedadspod Twitter: / Forthedadspod Facebook: / Forthedadspod TikTok: / Forthedadspod LISTEN iTunes: http://bit.ly/BWTB_Apple Spotify: http://bit.ly/BWTB_Spotify ----- Drink Olipop : Buy any 2 cans of Olipop in store, and we'll pay you back for one. Papa Team 6.
Welcome to another episode of For the Dads.
Look, the theme of today's episode is disappointment.
I know a lot of parents can probably resonate with this.
whether you have a kid or somebody you feel like you mentor
and one of your kids they do things that just make you so proud
all of the time yeah all of the time
and you're so happy to be their parent
and on a rare occasion
they do something so out of character
that catches you so
off guard.
Yeah.
In a way where you almost,
you don't know how to approach this situation
because you're not necessarily angered.
You are a little angry,
but you're so damn disappointed
that you almost need a minute to yourself
before you can even engage in a conversation.
And we had that situation pop up in a big way.
Now I know I'm hitting a little bit of a monologue right now,
but I think it's important because we had something,
something like this happen in our lives.
Earlier just this morning.
Yeah, just this morning.
And we're not even talking parenthood in this situation.
We're talking about for the dads and our Seaman Team 6 captain, chef.
Chef, we were coming into this episode.
We are recording right now on a Sunday morning because we have a massive week coming up
with some things we have to do in the shop.
So we were doing Sunday morning.
And last week we got so elated at the idea of,
like let's, hey, let's order some breakfast.
Let's do breakfast burritos.
And Deke and I, we get in the think tank with Sherm on like, hey, which burrito should we do?
Should we do the window at Dos Santos?
Should we do elegy?
Hey, two hands.
I just ripped a good breakfast burrito.
I've had it there in store or in restaurant.
But now I just had one delivered and it was gas.
Check out the weight of it.
Check out the ratios.
We have so many options of breakfast burritos around Nashville.
What should we do?
Because it's going to be awesome.
We're going to drive camaraderie.
with the boys. It's your love language, well, you love a good breakfast burrito. And I love some good
camaraderie. And then out of nowhere, chef enters into the conversation and says, let me make you guys
breakfast burritos. This is chef Jack we're talking about. This is a guy who's cut his teeth. His origin
story is cooking. Yep. When listening to this podcast. Yep. And we all had a big pause and said,
are you sure we want to go this route? Because we have dependable to burritos that we're talking about right
now that can get the job done.
Chef wanted the challenge.
He wanted the task.
And I don't know how many times we looked at him.
And I know the second guessing we had on our faces, Deke, on like,
we trust that you can make a burrito, but they're right here.
We could just order some.
Like, it's so easy.
It wasn't that we were second guessing chef.
It was that we were second guessing the simplicity of ordering in 2026 and the packed weekend
he was so excited about.
Yes.
It wasn't downing chef.
The situation.
a lord towards ordering was the best.
And I looked at chef and I said,
chef, are you sure you can deliver?
I don't want to put expectation on you.
But as far as the right size,
we don't want them too small,
not too small.
Nothing fancy.
Nothing too fancy.
Nothing too fancy.
Not too small.
Not too big like a Chopole burrito.
The breakfast ones,
it's got this density to it.
Ratios are great.
Are you going to get the ratios right?
Are you going to have it wrapped well?
Are you going to have a little crisp on the outside?
Are you going to melt the cheese a little bit in the middle?
What ingredients are we going to do?
Are you sure you want this pressure going into Sunday?
And he looked at me with that straight face right there.
Yeah.
And he said, yes, sir, I got this.
This will be, I'll be prepped.
I'll be ready to go.
Yeah.
And we're going to enjoy some burritos.
I'm going to bring them.
They're going to be wrapped in foil.
We're like, are you sure you got to travel a little bit to get here, commute a little bit to get here?
Are you going to keep them hot?
He's already thinking coolers.
He was thinking about, listen, I got this.
I got it.
Then Sunday morning rolls around.
Driving in, I'm two minutes away from the shop.
I get a call from Chef Jack pops up on the screen.
I'm like, oh, chef doesn't necessarily call me a whole lot.
Usually it's a text message.
Hit it up.
Chef, good morning.
How we doing, man?
We go back and forth.
And he was like, hey, what would you like to order?
We're about to do order breakfast burritos.
Where would you like to get a breakfast burrito from?
To which I responded.
I thought you were making breakfast burritos.
Oh, well,
uh,
hey,
something kind of went sideways.
Um,
we're going to order.
Is there one in particular that you'd like?
Try to keep the vibes up.
He's trying to keep the focus,
the priority on getting burritos to the shop.
I said,
probably,
I'll be there in two minutes.
We can talk about it.
And we can run that tape.
I did record that phone call.
That's a boss, man.
Doing good, man.
We're all at this shop.
Um,
ordering breakfast.
do anything?
I was going to, and I think we're going to wait until, come on.
Okay.
Let's see it.
I thought it would be good to be able to retrospectively look back on it.
I walk in the door.
You're sitting to the left where you are sitting right now.
Shepp and is in his spot.
The lights are on.
Deeks sitting in that chair over there.
His hoodie's up over his face.
the hoodies tied because he knows like we had a we had a big slip up today and chef didn't prepare
he wasn't ready he blamed his old man a lot and he also said and then he also said no excuses
I have no excuses I'm not going to bullshit you I did a poor job planning for this morning it's like
we know he came out and and just stated the facts good apology good apology good
All team's coordinator of mine, Rich Besatia.
So, you know, the two worst words you can say playing football, watching film.
You know those two worst words, Shirm?
I'm sorry.
My bad.
I'm sorry.
Okay.
That's my fault.
I fucked up.
Yeah, no shit.
You got to eliminate the shit to get you beat, Chef.
And this is the moment to tie it all into disappointment.
It's not that we're mad, I don't think, by any sense.
No one's mad.
Disappointed.
Not because there's a few fuck-ups that happen.
One, you didn't deliver on the burritos.
But the second one, and just as big, when you woke up this morning and knew you couldn't get the burritos rolling, that's where you have to communicate and hit the chat.
I'm not, hey, guys, I messed up, whether it's a voice message, whether it's a big text, I messed up.
It's not going to be able to get done.
How do we order ahead of time?
So we still got burritos in our hands to save of the day versus waiting.
for the entire world to fall on you.
And now Deeks walking in the door, we got burritos.
And we're going to have to take a time out so we can eat these burritos right now.
This is, I don't even know if that was a question.
I feel more bad for Charo, who talked to you about breakfast this morning, thinking she was
being a loving wife and you said, yes, I said, sweetheart, chef is making burritos for us
this morning.
And honestly, I can't wait so I don't want my stomach to be too full whatsoever because
I am fired up to taste chef's burritos.
That is a true story, not to pile on to make you feel worse.
That was a real thing.
And just from my side of things, we're all a team here being Will's teammate.
And walking in and vibes are high this morning.
Vives are high.
You brought coffees.
I got coffees.
You got me.
I'm bringing Lucy nicotine pouches.
You helped me by Lucy nicotine.
Vives are high.
And.
all of a sudden
it hits me
once I get here
I had forgotten about said burritos
and then it hits me
and I started belly laughing
because I knew
what this would mean
to William Earl Compton
the third
I started belly laughing
because I knew
that this was cataclysmic
in the world of Will Cofton
that chef was not going to have
breakfast burritos
I walked in
and did
here it goes, hey, by the way, like, it's going to be rough.
And I go, I know.
I, so like Will said, didn't blame the old man, but I kind of told him what happened.
You kind of blamed your dad.
I started off. I said he was in the way this morning.
I started off by saying, hey, there is no excuse for this.
And then you're like, what happened?
And I told you what happened.
And then I had to read area.
It's like, that's not the excuse.
No, um, it's just made a promise and gave a word.
about I would do something.
And then before, like, thinking of the context of,
hey, you're in a wedding this weekend.
Hey, that might take up your whole weekend.
Like, hey, you might need a prep.
Hey, do you have tortillas at home?
Didn't even have tortillas.
Well, that's why else we would have breakfast burritos right now.
That's what I'm saying.
Like, even the prep didn't go into it.
Yeah.
Because what's crazy about the whole thing is,
you weren't even thought about to deliver on these breakfast burritos.
We had the,
the solve already ready to go.
And then you just come in out of nowhere.
I wanted to make the breakfast.
I wanted to be the guy that stepped up and made a play.
Pissed out my leg.
He wants to be great though.
You hear you hear him say it.
I see it in the office.
He wants to be great.
I know that deep down inside he hates this situation.
And he does want to fix it.
He'll be pitched tomorrow.
He wants to be great.
he wants to prove himself with the breakfast.
But you got to understand.
Yeah, I'm with you.
That is what's painful about the whole thing,
but it's almost like if we talk football,
if we talk ball analogy right here.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
This is a guy who came up on Friday,
the night before a game and said,
coach, this is the trick play we got to run.
This is Jeff Simmons and pullback.
This is Jeff Simmons and fullback.
Chef kills it at his position.
He goes, coach,
I've been thinking of a different play.
I kind of want to try it.
And all the courtiers and coaches
are already standing in his staff
And a player comes out of nowhere and says,
I swear to God, put me in on this play,
and we're going to score this play right here.
And we all kind of just put the sword down.
You know what?
We need to listen to our players.
And he's not a can't get right guy.
So it's even more.
He's even more so.
He's got that look in his eyes.
Let's do it.
And next day, day of the game, we're in four minute.
We're on the 45-yard line or 40-yard line.
We're in that fringe.
And this is the play.
comes up to where we can throw this trick play in.
We know what they're going to be, and this is where we score.
Yep.
We need our defensive guy to be ready to go on the field.
Yep.
We call the play.
We call the personnel.
We call everything.
And then quarterback is looking over the sideline.
Where's chef?
He's not, we don't have 11 in the huddle.
And everybody's yelling on the side.
Chef, chef, chef.
And he's sitting on the bench talking to some of his buddies.
No helmet.
With his helmet.
Yeah.
Can't find his helmet.
Oh.
Chef, you're in.
This is the play.
What the fuck, man?
This is the play that we were talking about.
We're running breakfast.
And we either have to take a delay a game or burn a timeout, which pushes us, could push us out of field goal range.
We burnt the time out, but we scored.
Like we did score on a regular play.
We did.
We burnt to time up, but that's okay.
We got two more.
We went back to the guy who was calling the place in the first place.
No, I'm not being a part of that.
I'm not doing that.
We just scored.
And chef was there when we scored.
He celebrated with us.
I'm not being a part of that.
whatever you're creating.
That was also,
Deacon I told chef.
We go,
buddy,
we just let you know
we're going to be team chef
because you're going to need it.
You know,
the crazier part is that
we almost ordered food
without telling Will first.
We were sitting there about to order.
And I go,
wait a second.
I said,
I need to call Will at this exact moment
and just get it out,
like,
let's get the,
let's rip the bandaid
before we try to order food.
And I did try to like,
Try to run the balls.
I did.
I did.
I did sit there and I go, what's up boss, man?
How we do, man?
Like, you want to, hey, we're going to order food just trying to, like, see if maybe I could just buy a miracle.
You just forget.
Bro, please run.
And then first thing.
Please run the tape of that phone call, like, right here.
Oh, you have.
You recorded the.
Yeah, yeah.
And he put it on speaker.
The whole, uh, yeah, you were, uh, you were going to cook.
The silence that, that took place before your, what happened to you.
cooking breakfast food.
And Jeff has like
eight chins going.
You're like truly sick.
Like, oh, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck,
fuck, fuck, back, back.
No, the worst, the worst part I go,
yeah, we're not gonna,
hey, I think it's gonna be a tomorrow thing.
But, uh, yeah, anything you want?
And I just your side's like,
I'll be here in two minutes.
Oh my God.
Welcome to the four the dads.
Welcome to four the dads.
Welcome to the four the dads.
That breakfast burrito that we just ordered.
I don't know what
that place is.
Dos Santos.
No shout-outs.
Incredible.
Breakfast window, you walk up,
you get the burritos.
They got a few different options
as far as burrito goes.
They have a little bowl.
You can get an awesome spot.
If you're in Nashville,
go hit up Dos Santos on the weekends.
We take a little break
and enjoy our dos Santos.
Great episode coming up.
Doesn't have to be fancy.
Doesn't have to be fancy.
Yeah.
We got to take a quick break.
We got to eat these burritos.
I'm salivating.
They're good.
We wanted to give people a quick look
to what what is kind of unfolded
because the theme of the episode is disappointment
disappointment
we'll be back after this
breakfast burrito matter of fact
if you're new here subscribe we got to remind people
hey this is for the dads they didn't just come here

on the chin any day i know you because i you know me no one's no one's uh more upset than myself
Dude, let's dive in.
We got a lot of community engagement here.
Fun stuff happened over the weekend.
Some wins, bro.
The girls, my daughter sat out at their grandparents for the first time ever.
That makes a ton of sense.
Big shift, yeah, because we had the dinner party.
Yes.
We hosted some people over a phenomenal time, by the way.
We can dive into that.
But a massive win having the grandparents watch the kiddos and them sleep.
sleep over at their house.
Like, we were a little nervous, like, how's we're gonna,
how's we were gonna response?
She was super sad when we were leaving, all that kind of stuff.
But we knew like once we could get home and you have the entire space to yourself,
bro.
You're just kind of operating however you operate like the time before,
if you can remember the days before you had kids when it's just a little bit more,
you had a lot more peace and quiet.
When the dinner party was done, like we don't have to go upstairs,
we don't have to check on the kids, we don't have to, we don't have to do anything.
Yeah.
We can just go to bed.
Then you wake up in the morning, man.
We can just slowly get out of it.
We can operate however we want to operate.
No wonder empty nesters get bored so quickly.
1,000%.
They're just sitting there going, what?
There's not something constantly going on in my living room or kitchen anymore?
What?
Yeah.
But we got a lot of funny comments, a lot of funny write-ins.
We have some questions out there.
Also, we had a DM or a message from a gentleman saying our dad hats,
the camel ones that you're ripping right now.
What about the girl dad ones?
Girl dad is the one that is sold out right now.
Camo Girl Dad is sold out.
There are a few, few dad Camo ones left.
If you are wanting a Camel hat, go to bwtb.com and make sure you get one.
It's awesome that we sold out of the Camo Girl Dad ones.
We had a lot of them.
We are looking in.
We'll get those restocked.
We will get those restocked.
We can't tell you when that will be.
But just know that we're looking into it.
We're working on it.
But if you guys want any of our merch, we had a new drop happen.
Yesterday, as you're listening to this episode on Wednesday, we had a new drop happen yesterday.
A lot of our bus and football-centric merch is out.
BWTB.com.
It's a way for you guys to support the show.
It's a way for you guys to etch yourself into PT6 eternity.
One funny story about those camo hats.
Did you see my promo where I was promoing the dad hats in my buddy Harrison Fox?
I call him Foxy.
He's a college buddy.
Big Hunter happened to.
FaceTime me while I was promo in it.
Added layer to that,
I have
an epic dad
group techs with
Foxy and your boy
Jordan Roos.
No shit. They train at the
same Harrison Fox
met Jordan Roos
at this MMA thing, this
MMA like training facility
where they both do a bunch of
training and work out there together.
They become friends on their own
and then they both go
oh shit you know Will really well
oh shit you know Sherman really well
and now I'm just in a group text
with you know they're just
you know they're just
lifting so fucking hard
Jordan's strong as shit the pictures that they
send into that group from their sit like
Jordan will just send in unsolicited
stuff of him beating
these shit out of people what's the
thing where it's like mostly all legs
and they have like their robes on
kickboxing
Not Kipakshin.
Moitai.
Yeah, he's kind of like...
Jiu-Jitsu.
Jiu-Jitsu.
It is Jiu-Jitsu.
Bro, this little Jiu-Jitsu guys, like trying to do something on Jordan.
And you can tell that the little Jiu-Jitsu guys, like,
better at Jiu-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-G than Jordan's more athletic,
it's way stronger than him.
Way stronger. This is an alignment.
This guy is trying to do this move on him and has his, you know,
kimono or whatever.
It's a guy.
He has his gie, and he's, like, doing this.
And Jordan's straight up.
picks him off the ground
and you can just hear somebody
they're in a big gymnasium with the mats
you just hear somebody in the background go
careful careful
and then just go
Jordan just slams the guy
and the guy gets back up
because the ref like you know
it's like here reset reset
that guy's like oh shit
what the fuck did I just sign up for
but we were
geek they were geeking out
about the camo hats in that group text
like the boys were
fired up about the camo hats. The camo hats are gas, man. The camo hats are gas. And they're only
going to become more of a piece to have come fall time when hunting season rolls around. So make
sure when this next, when we do get restocked, again, a few more left in the dead ones. But when we do
get restocked, make sure you get your hands on them early. Yeah. Because we'll get a lot. We'll restock a
lot till they're gone. Speaking of hunting, I had a follow up from last week. By,
Himithy Swag on Spotify.
Love the Spotify comments, man.
Love the Spotify comments.
But Himmathy Swag, first of his name, wrote in.
Guys, easy with the shooting dogs talk.
Major PTSD and flashbacks from watching my uncle empty a clip on a hunting dog.
Bro, I read that the day that it drew, that the day the episode dropped.
And I was like, oh, my God, man.
So fucked.
That is so fucked.
That is so fucked up.
You know there's a...
There's people out there too that's so pro-animal
that can't even laugh at what we're laughing about.
And they're questioning why we're laughing at that.
Bro, no.
Like that guy actually has PTSD, dude.
That's fucked up.
Cool, cool, cool, cool.
You're just seven.
Your dad's like, oh, man, your uncle always been that way, man.
He's got to, you know, don't talk to him.
Don't look at him.
I wouldn't look him in the eye, man.
You know, your uncle, he always had to screw loose.
You didn't wait until he gets some lollip in him.
He'll be good.
He'll be good.
Yeah, all right.
I got one TV nail on Spotify.
Chef, the fish don't care if it's raining.
They're already wet.
Lock it down and go.
catching, not fishing.
When it's raining, it's the best time to go.
It wasn't the rain.
It was the lightning.
Huge strike hit.
And I don't get on water with lightning.
DB nail.
That is true.
Usually the rain is the best time because it cools off.
Fish are going.
They're deep when it's hot out and they get in the shower.
You know what DB nail just said watching this episode right now?
He said, yes, chef.
Yes, chef.
Hit the bong.
Hit the bong.
From Ventura, Rangel,
Rangel, who knows?
Of course, Willie C. You didn't know what he was saying
until after the pod release.
Hit the bong, boys.
And then Hunter Robinson,
the APR for Hit the bong
has me dying again from last week.
Can't stop laughing.
Hit the bong.
Hit the bong.
John Thomas and it's J-Care
on YouTube and Spotify.
So John Thomas writes,
I'm calling it now,
based on Shirm's hesitation about buying a house down the road, I think Jeele Bean is Prego.
It's J-Care on YouTube said, calling it right here right now.
Jill is pregnant. I see it in Shirm's face.
I wouldn't have put that on there if it wasn't two separate people on two separate platforms,
timestamping the exact same moment when you were stumbling around houses in the cul-de-sac.
I will say they are a good reader of people.
Jill is not pregnant.
What I was pressing pause on because I just didn't want to dive into the whole thing is
the idea of a number two, the conversations of a number two.
Those are happening where, you know, there's conversations.
We're not trying.
We're not pregnant.
But that was the landmine that they 100% read correctly of me being like, because once, you know,
we'd love to have a house with baby number two and blah, blah, blah.
That's what I was looking to.
Buddy, I thought you were setting that up and you were about to drop one of us.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
And that the fans called it.
The fans did call that baby number two was on the tip of my tongue, but if we are not
pregnant and we are not trying.
Nine months from last week, if we come back, I will send those two people merch.
If there's a baby nine months from last week.
Oh, oh.
And hey, that, I mean, shockwave, shockwave, shockwave.
Shockwave.
I was going to ask, I was going to ask, you said you're not,
they're good, yeah, they good.
You said you're not trying.
Yes, we're not actively, uh, going.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But are you not not trying?
We're not not trying.
Goal is poor.
You're just having fun.
We're shock waving.
Yeah.
We're having a, a good.
You're living, you're living back in the ST six days.
Yeah, a little bit.
Yeah.
A little bit.
Goal is, uh, goal is just not to have too.
under two is what we have told ourselves.
But you guys aren't actively seeking buds training.
Not actively seeking buds training.
Just for the love of the game, man.
Nick Lane, here on Spotify, pains me that old Willie,
one shelf doesn't understand the satisfaction of cracking a cold,
refreshing hollipop after mowing the lawn.
Don't be a bitch and cut your grass, brother.
WWCD, what would Carlos do?
Carlos, doesn't have to be fine.
a line in my lawn.
So it's light.
A comeback is dark.
Light, it dark, light, it dark.
Doesn't have to be fancy, though.
Olipop.
Olip.
What is Carlos's favorite flavor of olipop?
And Carlos,
I listened to your voice in like nine times
at the very beginning to try and
because I'm making a clip about Carlos.
Naturally.
After, after a call in like that.
That I'm trying to get where,
he was from and it sounded like he said
a why and I'm like did
Paraguay get
like cut off at the very beginning
and it's just the Hawaii
or your why
and so it's like hey man where are you from
Carlos? Hawaii
where's a why? Don't I saw a
why. We'll find out
yeah yeah I have
from True
I love this guy and by the way I do know the
satisfaction
of
maybe not exactly
an alipop, but having a cold one after you mow your lawn.
Like, I've mowed the fucking lawn back in the day.
Hey, his grandparents used to pay him to mow their damn lawn back in the day.
20 bucks a cut.
He used to be out in the hot Missouri sun during the summer and would tediously labor over
his grandparents lawn.
He knows what it's all about.
He's experienced it.
And did our own yard for free because our parents didn't give us money.
Cody and I would, you know,
So one on, one off.
Like, we'd switch it up every week.
I've mowed the fucking lawn, all right?
He mowed the lawn.
I've operated on a Z turn.
I've operated on a push mower.
I've mowed the lawn.
It's not in the cards anymore.
Q, Nick Sabin.
I'm not going to do it.
So quit asking.
Okay?
It's not going to happen.
He's not my own his lawn.
Thank you, sure.
You're welcome.
God.
It pays me.
Don't be a bitch mow the lawn.
I've mowed the lawn.
I ain't doing it anymore, man.
Oh, Will.
I saw your front yard last night, by the way.
You know what's just going to make them fucking sick?
Immaculate.
Thank you, man.
Looks incredible.
Local landscaping businesses.
Putting money in their pockets.
People talking about the unemployment rate.
Not around my area.
No, sir.
No, sir.
Golly.
People helping people, man.
Come on, man.
Will, as a kid, were you a pushover?
Yeah.
Push over?
Oh, yeah.
I just wanted not.
My old man got me operating when I could hit the middle bar and start pushing it.
Because you're a friend who are like, yeah, I got to mow the lawn.
You're like, but you have a zero turn.
I know you have a zero turn.
That's not, yeah, you get to hang out and ride the lawnmower.
He's to write something.
We're over here.
We're over here slaving away on a push mower, sweating in the fucking heat.
Oh, I bet Willie C's never done a pull-star mower.
He's never ripped a cord before.
I've never, but he's never done that.
Q early 2000s tape of Willie C out in the bright yard.
They're lucky at him, we don't have video evidence of that back in the day.
get a little choke on there.
Get the choke.
Did you pump it three?
Did you push the button three times?
You pump it three times?
Giss on that oil in there.
Do you prime it up?
Yeah, that's what I thought you just had to.
Yeah, watch out.
Let me try it.
I'm a little bit stronger than you.
The true big papa had a showstopper comment on Spotify.
True Big Papa says,
time for my daily dose of Jill versus Sherm.
which guys it has felt that way these last four weeks i would say it has felt that way but i have a dad
win now keep it short will do you mind asking me what my dad lost this week is sherman
if you had a dad lost this weekend what would it have been don't have one oh let me think for a
second. Don't have one. You kind of did a public service announcement at the dinner party last
that was a bit of a dad. And you're like, hey, bad communication on my part. Like you had to own,
you had to take full responsibility. Yes, I was told to make an announcement. My wife did stand by
my side and hold my hand through said. But she was like, go stand in the fire. She said,
go explain to our gracious host why we are leaving arguably an hour and a half early.
I'm guessing, like, did the festivities continue for another hour?
Festivities concluded at probably close to 10 o'clock, around 10 o'clock.
Oh, okay.
So not like super, super bad, but yeah, like an hour.
Yeah, an hour and some change.
Hour and some change.
Yeah.
You'd have been back home before 11.
Yeah.
For those of us not invited to Will's party, can you explain what the announcement was?
Deep, great question.
I'll die.
And so we got,
we got two more follow-ups about.
Go ahead.
Hurry up.
Dive into it.
Dive into it.
Okay.
Well,
I sit here uncomfortably.
Was the party fun?
It's the Christmas party's all over again.
The party was fun.
So,
we are invited to Will Compton's house for a dinner party slash game night.
It had an Evite with a very beautiful card.
I noticed that our names,
on the tables for our seating chart and the menu matched the Evite invitation.
Well done, Chara.
Oh, yes.
And Will.
No, no, I had no.
Okay.
I'm learning about what a dinner party even was.
Yes.
Because I thought we were just having game night and we're going to have some food.
So I'm letting people know, hey, we're going to have dinner.
Yes.
But we're ripping games.
That's the most that I felt like my parents because my parents,
we had a great street when I was like a little kid.
of couples around their age
that they had a lot of dinner party game nights
with the couples in the street
and would host at our house,
you know,
like it would kind of switch who was hosting.
And they hosted pretty regularly at our house.
And I remember being five, six, seven,
in the kitchen as these like couples are coming in,
I get to say hi to everybody before I go to bed
and like hearing laughter and stuff downstairs.
So I very much felt like my parents,
like I felt like an adult
of a parent
at your house. It was fun.
It brought back some good memories
of my childhood. However,
into your night. And you feel like you're ripping
in an adult thing for one of the first times.
Yes. And
Jill and I
often need to make time for ourselves
to like do date nights,
etc. We are very starved for that.
Last night checked so many boxes.
It's not even funny.
Will had some couple friends
that are local Nashvilleians
are couple friends,
old neighbors of the past.
I got to meet the neighbor
that allowed Rood
to go down the water slide
in Argentina.
And I got his POV
of that story.
He told me about how his heart
sank as he looked over the bars
and sees you at the bottom going,
don't send her.
And knowing in his head,
the part of the story that we got that we did get on the pod,
he didn't just let her go down the slide.
He said, hey, Ruru, do you want me to push you down?
Give you a little boost?
Push her.
And then leans over the rails,
just watch her come out and sees Dad down there going,
don't send her.
Don't let her go down this slide.
And knowing full while she was about three quarters of the way down.
Yeah.
Will picked, which you can go into that,
with the seating,
arrangement because I thought the seating arrangement was done very well.
People were nervous about the seating arrangement.
Got some text from the old neighbor group chat.
Like, hey, Will, what's the seating chart look like?
Don't screw me over.
I'm getting nervous.
Is this like, you know, what kind of vitamins do I need to be on for this dinner party?
I knew full well what it was like to play on the same football team as Will Compton.
Because going into the dinner party, I'm put into a group text with Josh Pate.
where Will is giving us a scouting report
on every single guy that we will be meeting there,
a breakdown, some of their strengths,
some of their weaknesses,
where can we attack with conversation?
I was like,
dude,
if you played on a defense with Will Compton
and you don't know what the offense is running that Sunday,
I don't know what to tell you.
Get to know them well,
but also get to know thy enemy,
because when we go into games,
this allies,
I expect this group right here to come out on top
and whatever we're doing.
Yes.
And what,
Walked in, immediately saw Josh Pay and his wife.
They were, his wife is lovely.
Yes, Savannah.
Savannah.
We got to talk ball with Savannah, like right off the rip.
She loves Lord of the Rings.
So you know what Savannah and I talked about for 15 minutes straight.
Jill ran off and just, I didn't talk to Jill the whole night.
I didn't talk to Jill the whole night because she was meeting all the wives, all the ladies that were there.
the ladies were just gabbing the way
we'll have the table split up as it was like
girl right here and guy right here sitting across from each other
and then the guys and the girls like are kind of spread out there out the table
so you have all the guys over here all the girls over here
but yet we're still at the same table and the way it was checkered conversation was incredible
had Amy to my left Doug's wife right she was fabulous
say you next to Josh Pete
set me next to Josh Pate.
Josh and I were like giggling at the table
because we were trying to decide whether or not
it was rude at a dinner party to go for seconds
because nobody was going for seconds yet.
And then we're all learning about how whoever,
like as you're passing the family style around,
the person next to you holds the plate
while the person gets it off.
Oh, oh, oh, hey.
And then I take the bowl from,
his name's Doug.
I take the ball from Doug.
Hey, let me get that.
I got to hold this for you.
Because Doug was sitting there doing this.
And Will's like, hey, wait, wait, wait,
They're saying the etiquette for dinner parties.
I got to hold this for you.
Charo was probably at the other side of the table.
That's good.
That's good.
Yeah, a couple of ladies who are experienced in dinner parties.
Like, this is what happens.
Oh, my fault.
Dude, it was so, it was so much fun.
And the guys being guys, just like making fun of it, but also doing it.
Favorite part of the whole story so far is that Charo is planning an intricate dinner party with color coordinating Evites and you're building alliances for the game portion.
very seriously so
like not joking around either
which was such a
stab and rip that we had to leave early
and this is nothing on our babysitter
we had difficulty landing child care
for the night
and someone that wasn't available
at first became available
but with like a stricter time limit
and I thought a 930
sendoff would be okay
like we would still be able, but dinner ran long.
It's a dinner party.
Like it was a long dinner in a good way.
I was telling Charlotte too, because that was a point of contention.
When we were getting it all lined up,
when I'm learning about what a dinner party is,
and I'm like, I've been telling the boys,
like I've been telling them that we're going to have dinner
and we're going to be playing games.
Like, I'm thinking of this as like a game night.
She's like, well, we are doing games,
but like we're going to be sitting and having dinner and everything else.
And I'm like, well, I want to be playing games more than we're eating dinner.
but conversations were flowing like it all worked out but i was bummed like hey psa we got to take off babysitter
we got the babysitter until 930 shirm lives an hour away surem lives about an hour away so i'm
thinking of my brain like you were always going to have to leave at 830 i need you i need you in my
earpiece saying like hey when we get in the games going because we're talking games at the dinner
we were we're talking games at dinner we're talking williamson counten
County Fair versus Wilson County Fair.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We, uh, there was a lot of dad talk going around that table.
A lot of good dad talk.
But it wasn't like, so you think of how I, because I spent a good 30 minutes setting up the
seating chart for this dinner party.
I told my wife, I said, hey, sweetheart, let me, I'm going to throw a couple rough drafts out
there.
Nothing is going to be written in pen.
This is all in pencil, pencil right now.
But let me operate a little bit.
Let me cook.
And so it wasn't like, think of the long table and on the, on the ends.
It's rounded, right?
It wasn't split down the middle.
guys and girls, you need to get some engagement going.
So think of it like split, but then rotate it a little bit.
What I went with is, Charles and I would be at the head.
Yep.
Would be at each head because, and then in my brain it was which couples would be the most
comfortable on this night with the range of people that were having,
which couples would be the most comfortable not sitting with their,
not sitting with their husband and wives, not sitting with each other.
There's significant other, as you could say.
So meet the head, Charles, the head.
Two of the closer ones next to us.
And then I put my ace.
It's like, okay, we're going to put Shirm and Jill, Josh and Savannah.
Josh Savannah had met anybody.
They know you and you know Josh, but you don't know the other couples that are coming in.
The old neighbors, Rue's best friend's parents.
Yep.
Had met Savannah that night.
Had met Savannah until that night.
But we're going to put those two groupings, the Shirm, Jill, Pate, Savannah, kind of in the middle.
They're going to get to see their other, not straight ahead, but a little to the left.
And I'm going to set Sherman Payton next to each other so they're comfortable and then give them a couple options that I know are good conversationalists.
My ace, Brian Paylor, former neighbor, he's the ace.
He's the one.
Anybody's going to love this guy.
He's not only interesting, but he's interested.
He's interested more than he is interesting.
He doesn't have socials.
He's fascinated by the life we get to live.
By life, anybody gets to live to where he's a good conversationalist.
I'm going to place him next to Savannah across from Josh Pate,
but also in the vicinity of Sherman Young.
Yeah.
As Brian can also sit close to me because I know he wants,
we wanted to sit close to each other.
Brian is a MF gangster, dude.
You want to talk about a guy that can talk about anything.
He's breaking down Williamson County versus Wilson County Fair with, uh, with Will.
And I go, I go, Brian, you know what one of my favorite parts of the Williamson County Fair was?
they really, they prioritize agriculture.
It wasn't just the rides.
It goes, dude, it's not a cash grab.
I'm not going in there doing tickets.
I get to learn a little bit about the local livestock, some of the local agriculture.
I was like, this guy.
This guy gets it.
He can get, he can talk anything, bro.
Anything.
Anything.
But it was, because Brian was like, Will, don't do me wrong in the group chat.
I was like, buddy, this is my Mona Lisa.
This is my Mona Lisa's shaping the.
together. And it unfolded well. It unfolded
beautifully. It felt strong.
And I had a good hug after
everybody left. Like, yeah, we did it. Because it's
our first time. Like, that was our first dinner
party. That's my first dinner party. I kind of just learned
what a dinner party was that week.
But we hugged to the point to where
when she walks around, like, hey, we have a free house. Where's
your freak meeter at tonight?
It didn't happen. But
I felt comfortable to be like,
hey, where we had? Is there a line at the
shockwave? Let's go see. You know, we just
got done doing Texas Giant with the dinner
party. What shockwave? We talked to Williamson County, a fair ticket lines. I want to buy the
unlimited. I want to buy the unlimited back. We don't have the kids, which was a breath of fresh air,
man. Like having all you guys over, now a deke over there. Some of us who didn't get invited.
Yes. Don't think about Josh Pate. Josh, him and Savannah, somebody we wanted to get into the
equation for a while. Now, we've always talked about. We got to get people together. I knew
Josh was coming into one where it's a wide range of people. Then he'd,
he doesn't know. He seemed to have loved the range.
But the biggest thing was like kids.
Kids. There were a couple of like clumps were invited, Luans were invited, but they have a
newborn. So I knew that was going to be tough because they're kind of on the newborn.
It's just going to be harder. Postpartum's going on. I'm not saying like that's a bad thing.
There's just, there's a lot of moving parts to where I let them know, I completely understand
if you tell me no. But I want you to know, we love to have you guys.
Josh also hit me.
kids. It was the kids. Can I give you three,
three instant gut thoughts? Thought number
one, you know what a dinner party is because you've seen
Widows Bay. The dinner party
book, oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Where she ended up having
the antlers on her head and she was feeding everywhere.
That's also like a party.
That's a party, right? That's a full-on
party. Like intimate, sit-down
dinners, all the kind of shit.
Thought number two I had is I was not asking
to make fun of your friend. I couldn't
have attended. Chef couldn't have attended. We don't have
kids. We're outside of that realm. So you
feeling bad is louder than me asking the
question. I want you to know it's okay and I love you. Thought number three, watching you
wax poetic, as you say, about the alignment of the table lets me know how proud we are of the
stupid tasks are women give us and how serious we take the task of just, hey, can you fill out this
page of the coloring book? Fuck yeah, what colors? Like, I got this shit down. It was very, it's very
funny to see the side of it, but you did good. Oh, thank you. The way that I did the table,
if you look, you got your, like most tables are going to be a rectangle.
Let's just say that.
But even from the hosting perspective, knowing that there were, it was a wide range,
again, like when I was giving a very piece together toast.
You did a, dude, he's toast.
Can I talk about your toast?
Yeah, sure.
But as far as like some of the pressures of having people over that don't necessarily know each other,
They're all here for unique reasons on which we love them.
Yes.
And they all get to know each other.
There was some of that pressure of as I'm piecing this Mona Lisa together.
I want to get it right because I want everybody to leave feeling like they had a good time around people that they had just met for the first time.
You were, because you know what I mean?
You got somebody you love that you're close with.
You got another person, another Ranger, right, that you love and you're close with.
You don't want to put so much lacquer on that damn thing to where you're forcing them to connect.
And they go away loving like, hey, what did you think of Sherham?
what you say?
They're great, right?
They're like, yeah, I use a little,
and you're like, fuck.
But I need to get them to know each other
the way I know them.
Yeah, naturally.
Dad hack, flip on that.
If nobody would have talked at the table,
that just means the food was really good.
So if you would have failed
and you put people next to each other
that weren't talking,
all that would have meant
is that the food was so good,
nobody was talking.
So you win either way there.
But it sounds like you did really, really, really good.
He was breaking down the table dimensions
and how it was like, it's a rectangle,
but it's like a little curve.
so it's like an intimate table.
So you get three on each end.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I started taking notes.
It looked like a compact, but not crowded,
a very spread out, but also intimate table.
Yeah.
Intimate, but had room to cut my steak with the elbows out.
Exactly.
Type of vibe.
Which we had to be creative because that's truly an eight-person table
and we had 12 there.
Yeah, you did not.
But you spaced it out.
You for 12 there?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Wow.
Thank you.
The Mona Lisa, if you will.
Also, what is your song that everybody was saying was your song?
Because I was not aware before that night that was your song.
What song?
The song that was playing during your toast and your wonderful wife, Charo's.
Oh, I don't even know.
Somebody made a joke that while the toast was happening, a song was playing in the background.
And it came at a nice, slow ending as I ended the toast.
Oh, okay.
So that was not truly your song.
No, I don't think so.
Okay.
Toast time.
So Will, they're like, Will, your song's on.
It's your song.
And Will's like, oh, really?
Like, and I'm like, hear the song.
It's truly something like free falling.
Like Tom Patty, I don't know.
Who knows?
Who knows?
Troy came over to me earlier.
It's like, hey, this would be a good time to give a toast.
I was like, what?
Did you mean give a toast?
I want to give a toast.
And Charles?
You know, I'm uncomfortable talking in front of everybody like that.
Charles on the other side of the table, like a parent that is so proud of their kid.
Like, without this motion right here, her face is just.
Like, oh, he's about to do it.
He's about to do it.
Because she looked at me and she's like, yeah, yeah.
And I caught her saying that to you.
So then I look over at you talking back to her and being like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And he picks up his wine glasses and starts going.
Savannah kept talking and I just kept leaning it a little bit more towards.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Savannah, I'm trying to say a few words here.
And a hush fell, a hush fell.
as free falling is playing in the background softly and will just as he does say waxed poetically
about the night brought up the fact that he he did plan the seating chart and was very happy
with how the seating chart had been working and you talked about couples getting together
people that you and charos specifically love getting to meet each other how important that
was to y'all and thank you for coming. You kept it very concise in a good way. Thank you.
It was a well done, well done toast. I got to try at the end because she laughed in the middle of it.
And Lee, sweet, I think the toast went. She's like, she started laughing. She's like, I thought
you did a good job. Except for the one comment you made where it's like we felt legally obligated
to invite the couple that we met at the coffee shop. That was Doug and Amy. Oh, that was a funny
joke. That's what I thought. I was like, I thought I was going with a little bit of funny there. I didn't know if they would feel anything. Like, you're not here because we just feel obligated to invite you. We met you at a coffee shop. Yeah. We met you go to birthday parties now. Yeah. I'm just thinking naturally you meet a couple at a coffee shop. You're now legally binded to invite each other to do different outings. That was a funny joke and Doug laughed at it. Good. Doug laughed at it. Because you know when you're giving a little speech, you're kind of just, you don't see anything else. Yes. You kind of just, I got like, you know, nerves. Deek is like a natural.
speaker. Like I always have to feel a little prepped and prepared, which I wasn't in this one. And then when I'm not, I'm very much nervous like when I'm speaking. And I don't know if you plan specifically to have Amy next to me if there was any type of thought there. The thought was I knew having the position that we had, especially with Brian. Again, you talk about your ace in the hole. Yeah. And I knew Traro sitting next to Megan and Chelsea, who she's super close with. Amy not as close.
And then Jill across from Amy, I just knew it would all, you guys would flourish to the point that
Amy sitting next to you would just be, it would be seamless.
Because Amy ripped to the nth degree, dude, like crazy amount of ripping coming from
Amy, who I had never met before.
She knows nothing about me or my wife.
And that was a fun little triangle throughout the night of us all kind of sitting there.
And it started with, hey, you got the same name as my mom.
mom, so I'm probably not going to forget your name tonight.
And then she kept on bringing up the same joke of, like, throughout conversation.
We'd just be talking about our family.
And that's what you call a simple layup.
Layup, because I'd bring up my mom and she would go, oh, Amy, of course.
I was like, yes, Amy.
Amy.
Junkle a little bit.
I knew I'd like you.
Yes.
Or she would tell a story by herself and she'd be like, other Amy, other Amy, not Truman's mom.
And be like, she was funny.
She was very funny.
And the success of it too, it's knowing, like, thanking them all for being there,
but knowing what goes into couples.
It's like you experiencing getting a night out, not being with your kids,
not having to check your phone at all time, seeing what's going on.
Having that, like, Brett, because you had to go through a roll deck.
It's like everybody's kind of got rosters of child care of sitters.
But the fact that it was all, um, the fact that it was all put together
and everybody was able to execute and be there.
What you got to?
Hear me on, no bad ideas.
You should follow up with each couple about if they felt like their seat at the table was appropriately placed.
Like do a Google form or like something like that where it's like, hey, you just want to review the night.
But then the review of the night just comes from where they were sitting.
Nothing else.
That's what you should follow up with.
Because clearly, as I articulate every moment I get to talk about the seating chart, I took it very serious.
You guys should also throw another dinner party where you flip rolls so Charles can see how hard it is to make the seating chart.
She was stressing about all this shit she had to do.
And I was like, buddy.
putting together that seating chart.
Like you think,
oh,
you think your little cards
and everything else
made it successful
at the seating chart.
Can I also bring up
Charo's ability
to swoop in
at the perfect time?
I saw her do it like
nine different times.
Would you like some more wine?
Hey, would you like some more wine?
That is a weakness of mine.
It was in,
is offering people a drink.
The timing could not have been better.
Like we had just like gotten in there.
I'm talking to the Pates for a while.
Jill just like got her arm grabbed by somebody.
And then all of a sudden she's talking to all the girls like right out the get.
So I'm talking to Josh and you and all that.
And Charo comes up.
Anything you want, please get a glass of wine, da, da, da.
And then as we're going to the table, Truman, did you want a glass of wine?
I'm like, oh, yeah.
Here's a bottle right here.
I'll do it.
Later in the dinner comes over my right shoulder like a hostess.
is like, Sherman, would you like more wine?
I was like, yeah, I would love more wine.
Like old buddy and Mr. Deeds.
Yes.
May I change your shulks, sir?
Sherman, may I change your thoughts?
Dumb chef question.
Was there a red and white wine option?
Oh, yeah.
Matter of fact, Josh Pate was the first one there.
I go, I'm like, you know, we get everything set up, six o'clock's running around.
I'm kind of staying and looking at the front door seeing who might pull in first.
Charles was like laughing at me.
She's like, I'm like, there's a, there's a method.
I want the driveway.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
There's a strategy out with the driveway.
I'm not sure I'm getting there and having to move,
like he has to leave a certain time and you're the first one there.
And you're going to move all the cars.
That's a thing.
Yes, man.
And you got to go up the driveway.
I asked Josh Payne.
I was like, do you have to put it in four wheel drive to get up the driveway?
Because obviously it's a steep driveway.
But once you get back there, yeah, there's a game.
So when I see him pull in, Charles like, oh, who you think that is?
I'm like, I don't really know.
I can't see.
I said, you know what?
I'm just going to go out back right now
and start directing traffic.
Were you in the olipop stance?
Yeah.
Choosing your hollipops?
I don't really know who that is.
You know what?
I'm just going to go out to the driveway right now.
Go out to the garage.
I'm like, should I go out the driveway,
let them walk to the front?
You know what?
I'm just going to go out of the driveway.
Go on the driveway,
welcome to the door.
Hey, Savannah, first ones here.
Welcome to the first dinner party in the contents.
Savannah had red and white ready to go.
She brought gifts.
Red and white.
Brought both options.
She's fired up ready to go. Josh gets out.
I'm like, hey, Josh, here's what I'm looking for.
You know how you're moved here?
I want you pulled all the way up and then back it toward the trunk faces the garage.
That way, you set the tone.
Hopefully people get it.
They back in, back in, and somebody can pull all the way up.
That way, if you got to leave early, you can just find your way out of the driveway.
It was again.
And that's what people did.
That's what people did.
I was asking questions.
Hey, Brian, jute you back in.
He's like, oh, yeah, you got three in a row.
And I was like, that's exactly how I want it, man.
I, we were the last couple.
We were the last couple to arrive, Deke.
And I had sent an ETA to him about an hour 15 before we got there.
Apparently the dinner party, like once dinner's still, like dinner being served,
hey, just let your guys know.
And I'm like, the invite says 6 o'clock.
Like, I know dinner's going to be served at 7.
Like, I'm sure they'll be around.
She's like, have arrival between that 630, 6.30 mark dinner's getting served at 7.
So when I sent the scouting report, I hit the guys up right between 6 and 630.
Which I'm so glad that he did because he did take pressure off a whole lot because,
and again, nothing on our babysitter is just the way the cookie crumbles.
And again, commuting like 50 minutes.
Commuting 50 minutes, but babysitter is taking just a little bit and that's okay.
And we're getting everything solved and sent will a text.
I said, ETA 635.
I want to let you know, you told me 6 to 630.
if I'm out of this house in the next 10 minutes, it's looking like 635.
Yeah.
And you had a great reply of, hey, hands are not sweating.
Yeah.
Oh, you're totally good.
If it was 705, different stories.
Yeah, different story.
I said, if you said 705, this would have been the first topic on the pod that we run tomorrow.
Yeah.
And then he threw out 735.
I was like, buddy, I don't want to even, I'm sweating even thinking about 735.
I said, I would have to probably act you from the entire party, man.
I texted him.
I said 735 emergency pod 11 p.m. tonight.
Like, we need to talk.
Like, some shit happened.
But yeah, dude, it was a truly, I told you this off the pod,
and I'm speaking to you like very, very seriously about last night.
Of one, thank you for inviting us.
Two, thank you for introducing us to your close friends.
they were all incredible.
And three, I'm being dead, serious, dude, high stakes kind of evening.
It's a high stakes kind of evening.
There's some nervousness to it of y'all hosting.
Y'all crushed on all the hosting stuff on an unbelievable level.
The vibes could not have been better.
And Jill and I were giddy the whole drive back, heartbroken that we had to leave early.
but we truly talked about the dinner party
from your driveway to our driveway.
The entire drive back talked about the party.
Talked about love Chelsea.
Chelsea does mahjong with blah, blah, blah.
She wants to get a mahjong thing.
I got Savannah's number Sherman
because she wants to learn how to do mahjong
and Charo's really interested in mahjong.
So I think we, you know,
there might be some mahjong happening.
That could be so fun.
Da-da-da-da.
Like, oh, dude.
There was like a,
and I loved it because,
we have been so starved for like friendships of people our age with kids and stuff and like community
stuff that being able to sit across the table to where Jill is not leaning on me for conversation
and I'm not leaning on her and I maybe talk to the girl's side of the table because of proximity
three or four times where they would ask me like a clarifying question about whatever they're
talking about bus related or like Jill related but watching Jill related but watching Jill
like giggling dude and like talking to all these women that before that night i only knew charo right
and they're all that filled my cup a crazy amount dude that fires me and she was like we're driving
home and jill was like i'm not like i'm not overthrithed that right like that was really fun like right
like i feel like we had a lot of fun like i met a lot of really nice people blah blah blah i was
just watching her just be so the wins too seeing people
exchange numbers, it's like, oh, let's go. Yeah, I played it very cool when that was happening.
Because again, when you walk in and you walk in last, it's like everybody's kind of standing in the,
you know, the living room, whatever, the big area. And just nerves. I'm like, okay, do we, you know,
Charles like, hey, you should, you should offer people a drink. Oh, yeah, yeah. I was like,
Josh, you want something to drink, man, you want some, you want some, you want some, you want some, I got some
beer. I got some non-alcoholics. I brought the good whiskeys down. He's like, I'll have water.
He'll, let's get some water. So I go and get a glass of water from the cabinet. I start filling
an oven. Charles was like, hey, you know we got water glasses. Like, all, everything you need is already
on the day. Oh, yeah, I just figured I'd get him a bigger cup, bigger cup. Josh, here you go, man.
Damn, damn. Then you guys sit in survey. You got a sit and survey like, oh, you know, are they
hitting it off? It's like, Josh and Sherman would be talking and then the, you know, the separate,
separate ones would be talking over here. It's like, oh, man, how do you get some people
maybe engage more? When are we going to the table? Oh, it's dinner time. Okay, let's go get some
dinner. The Pates, bro, when Savannah, I, uh, she worked at LSU, which I did not know that.
Yeah. And, uh, had worked with Dave Miranda while he was there. And so we're talking,
because Josh had brought up Atlanta and Josh was in a blue button down, by the way. Yeah.
Not a white tea. I saw it. So the two stories I saw was one, uh, Charles showed this morning,
too of like panning the table where you can see the seating chart to which i was like wow shirms in
the best spot you're in the middle dividing between the genders looking out to the backyard it's a
great seat the other one was paid which looked like charades or something him standing up and then
drawing a big zero that you said was Nebraska's wind total and i was that i did think nebraska's potential
and he was doing a big circle sorry so sorry so sorry like their their potentials like the
huge outer space it's like i thought you said wind total zero i'm here and
now, but I did look and go, well, that can't, that can't be Josh Pate, despite the bald head
in the face.
Yeah, yeah.
Because it's not a white tea.
Yeah.
It was like seeing your teacher outside to school a little bit.
It was.
And I was like, okay.
All right.
What's, what, I want to know what's one thing Will would change about it after you,
if he had to fix one thing that happened at the dinner party, if anything.
Oh, I think I have the answer.
What is it?
Us leaving.
Oh.
Us leaving early.
No doubt.
I think that would be the one thing.
Hey, I could see in Sherm's face.
It was going to be, because there was already a couple of like Doug and Amy, like,
hey, we're going to have to leave soon.
We only have the babysitter until 930, probably, I think like you guys.
But again, they, they like live closer.
So it wasn't going to be, we're only going to have about 20 minutes to play salad bowl.
We ended up playing salad bowl.
And they were going to be leaving.
So we're gathering.
I'm getting people moved over.
I'm like, okay, so let's dive in.
Let's get everybody over in the living room to where we're kind of setting up the game and everything else.
I feel Sherm.
I feel Sherm.
me in the vicinity and he's kind of standing and it starts to enter my brain is my boy about to
is he about to lay it on me and i know sherman bringing it as he's like guys public service announcement
i knew he wasn't caring about nobody else there except for he knew he's about to put a knife in oh will he
sees chest because we had been talking board games and you know people open about pandora's box like
well what kind of board games you into and i'm like so many of them i'm like competition strategy
social game i'm like tell usrations like that game's fun but it's kind of bullshit because
there is no winner.
So we're both on the soap box talking about games we love.
Fishbowl, Salad Bowl comes up.
We're hyped about game time.
Yeah.
I was truly really hyped about game time.
And Sherman hits the announcement and everybody's being gracious to him and I'm kind of
just quietly sitting.
Because he knows, I'm like, fuck, man, why you got to leave right now, bro?
You know you live an hour away.
Why'd you do 930?
But that's just on some brotherhood.
That's on some brotherhood shit.
And it was, oh, dude, it, I gave Jill that look of, I know she said no later than 930,
but what if we said, oh, everything ran late?
And we show up at our house at 10.30.
I don't know how often she's operated as a babysitter.
We pulled that with one that, like, it's like, like, Ava.
If we could be running behind, we'll hit her up like, you know, hour and a half before we're going to show and be like, hey, it seems like it's going to be a little bit longer.
because of the drive and everything else.
And that's what I wanted to pull on her.
And Jill said,
not the right thing to do.
This is only her second time babysitting for us.
She was very gracious to even
kind of come in and save the day.
We need to do red fire.
No question. No question.
I'm like, fuck.
To answer yours though,
not a whole lot.
I wish to what he's saying,
had I known people's outs,
you could get the games going sooner
because, dude, the dinner was fucking awesome.
And the dinner ran its course, how it should have.
Like it naturally kind of ended.
And we were talking games.
Hey, should we get into it?
Because dessert was awesome.
But had I known, it'd be like, you know, tighten it up to where, hey, guys, you know,
the youngs will have to leave at around 845.
So we get the game going a little bit sooner.
And I have a pitch.
This is a pitch.
This is even like notes.
I thought the night went so well that if y'all were to do that again.
but another couple hosts, you know, whatever.
So y'all aren't having to host every single time.
I would advocate for a five o'clock start.
I would be totally fine with a five o'clock start,
still do the little cocktail hour, wine hour before,
then butts are in seats by six,
then game night's starting off at a nice little eight o'clock type time.
Or could be even sooner than that.
Or even sooner than that.
Because for me, like, the way we grew up, it was like, we just have barbecues, so people would come over.
And it'd be like, you know, I know there's stress on, whether it's the name plates or whatever we're going to be serving for a dinner party.
Yeah.
We never did that.
Growing up, I just didn't really know about it.
But it'd be like, you know, people come over, you're having a barbecue.
Say, chef and deeks show up.
And I'm telling my mom, I'm sure it's stress her out.
Like me thinking about all this now.
It's like, yeah, I know there's stuff that comes in that having people over.
And from the mom or the hosting perspective,
you just want to do right by everybody coming over.
So when I throw at my mom in the last hour or an hour before barbecue start,
hey, Deacon Chef are coming over too.
But it'd be like somebody getting the car.
Whether they got there, there's no pressure.
They show up.
Hey, we don't have enough.
We don't have that many pork steaks or chicken legs or whatever we're barbecuing.
Steaks, we get in the car and go get some and then come back to the house.
Yeah.
You're kind of just vibe and going to go.
No sweat.
To where if you do it again, it's like, you know,
I want to do one where it's like busing guys.
guys or, you know, I don't want to say
Willfriend Dominant. I love all of those people
that we had over. But you have one where if it's more
buffet style, you serve
as you go, then you can get
to the game sooner. I'm just a games guy, bro.
You are. I love the games.
I love, because I had three in mind that
I wanted to hit. You did. You saw when you
even, before you gave the PSA,
Charles like, hey, I think we should do Salibo because it
seems like we're only going to be able to play one game with everybody.
She saw the defeat my eyes because I wanted
games, man. I had
code names set up.
I was over by myself
he went he left dinner early
he comes walking out
with like three board game boxes
sets him on the
kitchen counter no one has left the dinner
at all except for Wilcofton
sets out the game and he's sitting there
like setting everything out in his heads down
and Josh in true Josh
page form is sitting and looking directly
straight, looks over his shoulder
to see Will alone in the living room and looks
at me, he goes,
uh,
should we begin the
games?
Uh,
should we go join our friend William in the
living room?
And I was like,
let's go join William in the living room.
And that's about when Jill
gave me the phone flash
and was like,
850.
And I was like,
I'm gonna have to massacre my boy.
I literally.
And she was like,
you need,
you need to.
say it. Like, Jill was like, you need to say it out loud to everyone. So it's not just like a sneaky
Irish goodbye. Like you need to tell everyone babysitter. Here's the sitch. I added the handup.
Could have communicated better with our babysitter and gotten a better exit time. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sure. I feel like another thing there too, kind of going on what we, this morning, the, what occurred is like,
when you walk and you go hey guys we do have babysitter you know we have a heart out at this time
no doubt well if you're trying to game with your boy tonight chop motherfucking chop boy yeah i guess
that puts pressure on to like hey speed at the dinner but just like hey guys i hope you know i'm really
sorry shirms defense maybe he didn't know how much i love gaming because as i'm sitting over there by
myself i'm laying out code names and my oh these are some good words right here laying out i'm getting it
set up not saying we're playing that game first i'm just saying i want it set up so that way we can
seamlessly transition from game to game.
I don't know everybody's appetite.
Pieces of paper have been shredded.
Yeah. Salad bowl has been obtained.
Pins have been distributed.
I had my pack of cards for a werewolf out
in case we're going to go werewolf.
Charles was like,
I don't know if werewolf would be a great game
for everybody who's just getting to know each other.
That's usually a better game for everybody
that does know each other.
And to which I responded to her.
I'm like, sweetheart.
I think dinner's going to crush enough
to where everybody gets a good enough report
to play some werewolf or mafia.
If you've played mafia,
It's kind of the same game.
But I wanted, I wanted code names because we had 12 people.
It makes a little more difficult because you can't hit those six to eight,
10 player caps of games.
Code names, Salable, Werewolf.
I had them ready to go.
I wanted them ready to go.
I felt like we weren't going to get to one.
Okay, we could scrap Weirwolf.
Code names would be a fun one for everybody.
Charles wanted to go Salable first.
I was like, all right, all right.
We'd go Salable first.
Good call by Charlie again.
Salable's a hitter.
It was a hitter.
It was a hitter.
It would have been great to have you.
What are your thoughts?
There's very few times that I get to just watch you be like an innocent child.
This is one of the purest pods we've ever recorded of just you being like, yeah, so I got the games.
But then no one was done eating, but I sat and I knew they'd come over.
Like I knew they'd be there.
So I started setting up the games.
And so it's just like your thought meticulously going from step by step and then thinking in her head too, like,
Yeah, Charles said I got to get water for people.
Not only that.
And then seeing watching people by the window, like, who's going to come first?
Not only, you can't wait to go.
Yeah, the bathroom's over there.
When you decide to lock in, like, there's so many things where I'm like, I don't even know.
But it's like, whenever once in a while you'll get something like this, I had no clue
your dinner party when we were talking this.
We were talking this morning.
But I only know back, because you, I saw last time on Twitter, I go, oh, you had friends over.
I'm hearing you break it down, like the intention that went into it and like how meticulous
you were about like thinking of every detail is just amazing because it doesn't come out a lot.
But when it does, it's like, oh, Will just went crazy.
He went out.
That comment right there could get me in trouble with the wife because the detail, she was the
detail.
The few things that Willie C was locked in on and cares about, just know that I was ready to go.
Moreover.
Sweetheart, love you.
Yeah, moreover, I just meant like you are so engaged with this.
Like you love the nitty-gritty side of it of like the side.
You're talking about the breakdown of like this person.
I feel like they were getting along, like talking about how each condo was going.
I wanted everybody to have a good time because, again, it was just people that don't necessarily know each other.
I know I like them all, but you're kind of getting everybody around and you're doing something very intimate and engaging and then also playing games.
Curating people is one of like my fate.
Like we talked about my bachelor party.
I had 20 guys there.
And not everyone had met everyone.
Like very few people had met everyone there.
curating people is like my joy in life.
So I feel you there.
And the fact that I can promise you,
everyone left that to what Cherm was saying
and either said in the car,
I needed that.
We should do that with our other friends.
Like there's an involvement of like,
oh my gosh,
this is possible that you and Charles
gave every one of those couples.
That's really cool.
Because Amy, I want to say it was Amy,
but Charles was like,
Amy leaned over and asked Charle like,
so what's the occasion?
Like, why did you guys do a dinner party?
And Charles was like,
we kind of just wanted to.
Like we haven't had people over to our house.
Like we moved in in February.
We just don't do a whole lot of social.
Like we do.
Like obviously with Bustin,
she does a lot with her bar three people.
Like we're just busy to where we haven't had people over.
We haven't had the kids out of the house to where it's just adults and friends hanging out.
And so she's like,
we just wanted to do a dinner party.
Like we just wanted to zero occasion.
Just have people over.
One thing to change on our end other than babysitter is you had mentioned the Pates when they were
up. Savannah had a red and a white.
Yeah. That was our game plan.
I saw the time coming up as we're like trying to get out the door,
told Jill, should we door dash something to make sure it gets here?
You ask me my address and you door dash it to my address.
I even thought about that and Jill was like, honey, do not do that.
And I was like, honey, that makes sense.
Like, they get to his house at the exact same time that I will leave on the notes.
don't go inside, just stay out on the street.
Leave it in the mailbox.
Like, we'll show you the ID and like it's all good.
She's like, no, honey, we will have time to stop at Kroger, to stop at Trader Joe's, you know.
And then that's around the time that I hit you with ETA because Jill was prepping babysitter
and I was still gameplay and stuff.
And I just had to break it to Jill.
I said, we don't have time to get one.
Dude, you're good.
You're totally fine.
I know.
but you know you're fine.
That is one of the best feelings ever, dude,
when you show up with wine or with flowers or like whatever you go with, dude.
It's a good, it's a good move and it brings the vibes.
Yeah.
Especially them being the first ones and going, hey, yo.
And Savannah being Savannah too,
because Savannah didn't know any of the women hasn't really,
she met Charlotte of Vanderbilt game, but fleeting.
You know, you're around.
It's the football environment.
Me and Peter, doing whatever.
She's saying hi.
Roo and meeting Charles for the first time, but doesn't know the women.
Doesn't, hasn't been around everybody else.
Has she been around you?
Was that the first time seeing?
We have interacted via social media a bunch because I'm just in Pate's replies.
Yeah.
But Savannah bringing the heat right out of the gate, having two bottles like, oh, let's go.
Yeah, yeah.
It was fun though, man.
It was, it was awesome.

And then I find myself in the blind tasting
picking cherry coa.
You want to talk about that
that movie theater slurpy dude
that you would get the classic soda flavoring.
You get the cherry flavor right on the top of it.
And you're kind of drinking that slurpy.
And you get down to the very bottom and it has that little classic cola taste mixed with the cherry.
It's like the best part of the little movie theater slurpy.

Let's get back to this episode.
Felt good.
It did.
It reminds me of a comment that actually somebody wrote.
Cool Breeze, 1808 on YouTube.
He said,
Scherms saying his dad's a micromanager
while his son forgets to pay bills at 30.
So let that one say.
bro i read that one and i was like what a home run comment truly seeing it through my dad's lens
and my dad being so gracious in that moment with the sands on the stairwell being like
and nothing's fucking changed with this kid man this this kid man golly it's like what was going
through my head when you're like public service announcement i should have done a better job
communicating this fucking guy
This fucking.
Yeah, my dad's always on my ass is what Deke said.
Why is my dad always on my ass?
He was on my ass, dude.
Yeah, pay the bills.
Oh my God.
Shut up, dad.
Fagall bills.
Shut up.
It also reminds me of this comment from Kyle Klingensmith.
He said, for Shirm, here's my kid.
Her name.

We host the podcast Hollywood Handbook on the Big Money Players Network.
Our show is extremely accessible to first-time listeners.
Each week, we talk to someone in show business, aka the biz,
and try to help them with their careers and see what they have to offer.
us. Everyone has a good time and no one gets mad at their publicists for letting them do our show.
We've had a lot of great guests like Sarah Sherman, not that great.
Actually, can you help me, can you help me shape this?
Yeah. How about we flip it on his head, right? How about we flip this around?
Okay. What is the surprise woman who actually you think is the straight man is actually the one who's acting weird?
Adam Scott, ugh.
This entire time, you've been expecting Adam Sandler to come.
to visit the show.
I would never expect.
I would never set expectations for something like that to happen.
If the universe allows for something like that to happen,
I'm open to it.
I'm always going to accept.
You know, Danny McBride, fine.
Yeah, it's all this fragile masculinity exuding.
I could smell it walking on the hallway, to be honest with you.
I was like, is that weed?
Nope, it's fragile masculinity.
Man Stiller, no.
Because a lot of times out of context, people don't get it or even know what a circle is.
You know what I mean?
They're like, oh, what's a state?
Everyone's so dumb.
And fake.
Right, fake and also not interested or just like, oh, I've got my life.
I don't care about your life.
And a lot of other big shots that wouldn't be where they are without us.
Oh, and by the way, Will Ferrell told us personally he loves the show and he wants to be a guest on every episode, but he's just so busy.

To Alex Rodriguez.
Just to let you people know, we're talking to one of the goats here.
To Bill Burr.

In your guts, you go with it.
And Sean Johnson recalled the moment she realized her now husband, Andrew, was the one.
He was just so unapologetically himself and knew nothing of Hollywood.
He hadn't been on a plane before without his family.
It was so pure.

Zaria.
And it's just...
a card that he made of Aria.
Age 17 months.
Weight 19 pounds, 10 ounces.
High 30 inches.
Special attribute.
Walking.
Natural born explorer.
Always on the move
and taking steps towards greatness.
It is my kid.
Her name's Ari.
We need way more.
There was no body to that email.
It was just that.
That's what I wanted.
That's header in the picture and that's it.
Is my gay.
We want to talk dad wins, losses.
Yeah.
I got one here from D.
Dakota Meal. Here we go. Wife win. My husband, this is from Dakota. My husband, Jared, called in last week about forgetting his PT6 shirt at home when our daughter was born. Me being the badass wife that I am, got a hot dad walk picture of him in his PT6 shirt at the hospital four days later when we went for baby girls checkup. It's like it never happened. MT6 for the win. And here's my boy, Jared, walking in the PT6 shirt.
BWTV.com.
Well freaking done and way to keep the bar high for the MT sickos out there.
Well played, Dakota.
I have a dad win from Tristan Springer.
Tristan writes in and says,
Morning Boys.
This past week,
my oldest boys started kindergarten.
I think his mom and I were more anxious than him.
On the first day,
his mom takes him to school for carpool drop off,
but gets there early and offers that they can drive around
a little bit before dropping them off.
Boy simply says he's ready to go and once dropped off, walks up to school, heads right in, and has a great day.
I can't express how proud I am of this kid.
Day two was just as good as day one.
It's tough watching him grow and become more and more independent, but I continue to be a proud of him every single day.
Here are some back to school and first day picks for the boys.
Thanks, boys, Tristan, from Indie.
from Indiana.
Let's go, Stud, let's go, Tristan.
That's so sick, dude.
Individual, Dadwin.
Success with the kiddos staying at their grandparents last night.
Yeah, what's going on with that?
Bro.
Fat dub.
So you know, again, first time them staying overnight at Grandma and Grandpa's,
low Lola and Opas, as we call them.
So going out there because we were getting set up for the evening we were going to have.
Yep.
But getting them out there, Roo was a little sad, made me sad, made us.
said that we had to kind of like Lee, hey, sweetheart, you're going to have such a great time.
You're going to be, you're going to be playing. You're going to be doing games. You're going to get
to watch movies. They had the VHS set up with old movies, old VCR.
Bro, that's so epic.
Yeah, bro. Throwing the VHS and the VHR. They're watching movies. Like, you're going to have so
much fun. They slept in the same room. Cool little bed set up where they, they're sleeping in the
same room for the first time. So Charles and I are leaving. We get to the house and we're just hopeful.
We're like, all right, we're back home. They're obviously going to have fun.
for the rest of the day.
Bedtime is going to be the big one where we know.
That's the big one.
If we're having dinner and we're getting hit up or face time
because dinner's kind of going sideways
because Rue either misses us.
They can't get the kids down in the same room
because, again, they don't sleep in the same room.
Yeah.
But we never heard a word or a peep
all throughout the evening last night
to where Charles checking in afterwards
at like between 9 and 10 o'clock at night,
like how everything went.
And then they eventually went down
after a big story with the witches
and bad guys and everything else.
but they're sleeping sound right now.
They slept all throughout the night.
We wake up in the morning and then we're like,
yo, bedtime went awesome.
Then you wonder as a parent,
how's it going to be when they wake up in the morning
when they're like, oh, I want mom or dad,
that whatever it is.
Like, who knows?
Wake up somewhere new.
Morning time has been awesome.
Really?
Because right now it's 11 a.m. on Sunday.
They're still there.
They're still there.
Yeah.
Charo had to do some work this morning.
I came perfect time to rip the pod.
Yeah.
But we're still kind of like low stress.
The kids are out having
fun at low-lonopas.
Oh my gosh.
But knowing that you have a successful first iteration of staying in grandma and grandpas, bro,
it's kind of like, because it'll be happening again here in a few weeks.
Yeah.
We flirted with the idea of somebody a sitter being over at the house, like Ava being at the
house and her putting him down while we were doing the dinner night and everything else
last night.
But they wanted to go over to low-lo-lo-n-opas.
Low-lo and Opa were like, hey, we might as well get the first one out of the way before
we do later in the month when it happens again.
But now that you have that, it's almost like unlocking a new infinity.
Stone when your kids get to go stay at grandma and grandpa's house.
Because again,
Charles and I getting to experience like,
dude,
I fell asleep last time on the couch,
trying to watch Reacher because I was wiped after the game night and dinner
and everything else.
I fell asleep and didn't wake up until three in the morning.
Charles comes out.
She had to go to the bathroom.
I was like,
hey, are you going to come in bed?
I should have made sure you got up and came to bed.
But I was fired up that I'm just falling asleep
and I'm waking up on the couch.
Then you go into bed and wake up in the morning.
You don't got the monitors going off
or Scotty being awake a little.
little too early.
Them just needing you, making breakfast.
What should we do this morning?
What should we get rolling?
What outfits do we need to be doing?
None of that stress is like, bro, euphoria.
Amazing.
Last time we grandparents were involved, we had the deal with Opa and the, what was it?
It was it a-
Oh, the asthma.
The asthma inhaler.
How do we feel about this performance now?
Great performance.
It sounds like, again, we just haven't heard a lot.
from camp.
Gotcha.
From grandparents camp.
Says,
are you gonna have like a sit down head coach?
Like a, I don't know in the NFL, how they would do it.
But like a, hey, how do we go?
We get a full report and then it's a.
Yeah, we'll get a scouting report on how everything went down.
And I'm sure Rue will tell us.
She'll fill in some gaps where we might have questions because, again,
they don't know what they're trying to keep from us or not.
And she's a rat.
And she's a rat as we've learned in the past.
So we'll learn some feedback on the right home.
But overall, it's like, dude, that's unlocked a new thing.
for us. Like even if you need a break his parents,
like you drive out, drop him off at Lola and Opas
to where you know they're going to have fun
sleeping over there to where you can get a night to yourself.
Dude, two things there.
One, I'm starting to realize that Rue
might not be a rat. She might just be
a Ned Stark.
She just can't help but
just calls it as she sees it and tell the truth.
Yeah, that's fair.
Because she ain't lying. Yeah, she's
definitely not lying. She's just kind of like,
this happened, I'm going to tell you about it.
She's got loose lips. She's got loose lips.
I would maybe just show her the scene where they beheaded Ned Stark because he couldn't
stop just always selling the truth.
Start with when he gets stabbed by Jamie's guy.
Start light.
And then if it happens again, get to the head.
If you continue to open your mouth the way you do, just want to show you this is what
happens to people.
They're going to take you to the septipa Baylor and they're going to cut your head off.
That's what they do.
That's the dad win.
That's the dad win from my world.
That's a huge dad when.
The second point that I wanted to touch on is it is a topic that has been flirted with,
uh,
with Jill's mom and my parents of some kind of townhouse rental that they split or what would
it look like,
da, da, duh.
Yeah.
To where they could come in, you know, monthly by monthly and, you know,
just have a little HQ, if you will.
Yeah.
HQ to allow that for Jill and I, because we've been seeing with the clumps, their in-laws are here.
Y'all's in-laws are here.
It just, it makes all the sense in the world.
And this isn't putting the pressure on my parents.
I'm just saying that is a conversation that they've been having that audience-wise, I'm sure a ton of people would write in the comments like having, having an in-laws in-town is a lifesaver.
And you know, people out there listening to that don't have in-laws.
in town is like we crave something like that.
Yeah.
So it's not like it's putting pressure on your parents.
I think your parents understand those difficulties knowing that you guys are.
Yeah, yeah, that far away.
Yeah, dude.
They're like, I think it's just, you know, finding something that like financially makes
sense and something that's like not an apartment, something that like has a little bit
of like a yard or something, you know what I mean?
Yeah.
that feels housey.
They're thinking about going in and getting a spot,
not an Airbnb.
Yeah,
like doing a rental.
Okay.
Yeah,
like a rental of like a townhome or a house or something that's just,
whenever we come to Nashville,
that is,
my mom's an artist too.
So she'll be like three months on.
And then if she has a really good,
like, art show and sells a bunch of paintings and stuff,
she can afford to do just two weeks straight.
of like, I'm good.
Yeah.
Like I can go up to Nashville and go live up in Nashville for two weeks.
Jill's mom is in a position of like ownership with the company that she works at that she can afford to do that as well.
And just kind of have some of that flexibility.
Yeah.
So we're looking into it.
Yeah.
Looking at.
No one we hit that finally for the first time, game change.
That's got to be, dude.
Y'all, like all the parents that do have those grandparents are in-laws that are that engaging and that intentional and that, like, involved with the kiddos.
Like, dude, now I get, especially when they go and stay overnight.
Like, they've been super helpful because they come and hang with us.
We go out and visit them to where we're playing, but we're obviously still with the kids.
They'll leave because bedtime, we still do bedtime.
Yeah.
But knowing that they go out there and they're doing the bedtime, they're doing the wake up, we can just have a little peace and quiet.
in space is a game changing.
How much the pressure was off of you and Charles' shoulders last night.
Yeah.
Not that you all...
Because if they would have been there, it would have still been fun.
It would have been fun.
Rue would have been engaging with all of you guys.
Like, y'all were truly just able to be adults and not parents.
Yeah.
Last night.
Because nobody at 7 or 7.30, go like, hey, I'll get Scotty started.
Then we can switch and kind of do Rue.
And we're both kind of juggling that.
We'll also juggling having people over.
100%. And y'all don't walk around like balls of stress. I hope you don't hear that when I say I could tell how at ease you guys were. But at ease from a stance of y'all's only worry in the world that night was that people were having fun. That was it. And that's all you had to concentrate on because you know, Opa and, oh my God, Lola. Lola had it covered.
We were fired up to.
We drive out there to drop them off
and Lola sitting out on the front porch, just waiting.
And I'm like, oh, that gasses me up.
My grandparents were the same way.
They'd sit out in their front porch.
They had a little swing chair going back and forth.
And they just rock back and forth
until the grandkids came over.
My mom's got a big bay window at her house.
And whenever you're pulling up,
she can see you from the driveway.
And she'd start doing that.
So great, dude.
Yeah.
That fires me up.
I have a crack a cold one here from Brendan M. 56 on Spotify.
He said, just picked up my three and a half year old daughter from her second day of preschool.
She has loved it so far.
But my crack a cold one is just being nervous and anxious for your little ones first experience at school and them loving everything about it.
Love the shows, boys, been a day one listener.
Keep it up.
and to add on to your crack a cold one,
Brendan's crack a cold one,
it would be the dinner party,
but Scarlett had her first gymnastics class
on Saturday morning.
Leotards required.
Leotards required.
She is the only
student of her classes under the age of two.
She's a year and a month.
Everyone else is like two to three years old.
unfortunately I was not there
I have a bunch of videos and photos
I can send to chef
I had a hell of a Saturday
by the way dude
I knocked out two dressers at home
while Jill went and did gymnastics class
so we did a little divide and conquer
and I felt so good when Jill came home
and I had those dressers done dude
it was dope
but her telling me these stories
of like the stretching circle
and all the two year olds and three year olds like taking
the stretching circle so seriously
and how Scarlett
just a little one year old one month old
you could tell on the teacher's face
of the class she was a little worried
like oh wow
she's very young which one years old
like you are allowed to take them
and sign them up for these classes
that teacher was probably thinking oh gosh
and you're required
to like be with your kid
during the class
and Jill said
that Scarlet just sat in that stretching circle and thought she was the biggest big girl ever.
Had no idea what was going on, but knew that like what was happening needed to be taken seriously.
It was like watching everybody like doing their stretches and stuff and just kind of sitting there and doing her hands up and down like, yeah.
Make the pizza.
Jill said they said a prayer for safety.
everybody did their, you know, bowed their heads and like said a quick little prayer
of like, keep everyone safe and make sure they have fun, amen.
And just trying to hold Scarlett's hands together as she's like moving around.
She has no idea what a prayer is.
She's just juiced in her leotards.
Unreal.
But the videos from that dude were just awesome.
And it was a glowing report from the teacher came up to Jill afterward and was like,
she is very interested in the class, like, at her age.
Like, she did a fabulous job.
Like, very excited to have Scarlet in our class.
Great scouting report to get.
Great scouting report.
Great scouting report.
Should we dive into a voicemails?
We should.
Let's dive into a couple of voicemails.
We have-601 the dads.
601 the dads, William.
We have four.
We have four this week.
Willie one shell, Shirm.
First of all, shout out to you, voice reports.
putting out great sods every week.
Good sad.
Good son.
My name's David in Texas.
You know, got my son due early September.
Second one got a seven-year-old daughter, Act 17.
So get prepared for that for both the, you know, son due early September.
Got the girl.
She's going to take paternity leave first.
She's going to get done right around Thanksgiving.
That means I get the joy of taking my.
paternity leave from my job and just suffering through just the best part of football season
with my son you know from that Thanksgiving to about end of January time playing off football
just oh no I'm thinking about how tough it's going to be being able to watch Monday night
Thursday night Saturday night Sunday night of just pure football I'm just thinking of exactly how
tough it's going to be any advice on how to get through that you know in such a tough time thank you
boys love y'all that's disgusting dude this showed was going so well to god dang it dude so he has to do
six weeks six weeks starting in november during i would assume the worst time which is championship
weekend, college football playoffs,
December football in the NFL,
playoff football in January.
Now here's where it gets even worse.
And you have to watch your fucking son at the house
with all your TVs on and all these games on.
Here's where it gets worse for him,
something that he probably has no idea.
Is that paternity leave does not count
nor apply to holiday weeks.
So he's going to have to schedule
his paternity leave around Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Year's.
It's probably going to be, what, altogether eight extra days that he's going to have to be at home with his son,
that that's not even going to count towards his six weeks of paternity leave.
So he's really looking at about seven and a half weeks.
And listening to a guy like that, too, you can tell it takes the life absolutely out of him from somebody.
who is, who doesn't give a fuck about
football
and watching the kids.
This is the guy who wants to grind at work.
He wants to be at work.
Bro, he's got important shit that's going on
that he needs to be taken care of.
But now he's got to go,
look after this little,
whatever they want to call it, son, baby.
Is that what he's having?
A kid?
A bean?
Yeah, a little bean.
Should I just play the second voice mail
and just like best.
David? Can you imagine how
his conversation with his boss is going?
How apologetic he is.
For the pronoun he has to watch at home.
Knocked up my old lady.
Sorry, boss man.
Got to go do this thing now.
Got it. Like, when the fuck do we start getting paternity leave
in this country? David, G.
You got her pregnant? Your wife?
I know. I know. I didn't know what I was doing.
She pulled the goal.
on me. I thought something felt a little bit better
down there, but I didn't put it together.
So it's her fault.
It's her fault, David. Just
know that. And our thoughts and prayers will be with you.
Always in forever, my friend.
Where in Texas is you from?
Love to know that. Who's your team?
Who you cheered for? You were in for Houston?
Go Cougars.
What's up?
boys, this is Dalton from Houston.
I've got two under three,
soon to be three under four.
My two older ones are girls.
Tell you. Listening to this week's
episode, and I have to say,
Willie C, you're fucking right.
Brushing other people's teeth,
especially little people's teeth,
fucking suck.
Any way that I can get out of that shit,
I'm doing. If the negotiation goes
well, I won.
Listen, all the respect to Charle
in the world. But hey, we've got to teach
these.
kids somehow. Okay? And all you're doing is teaching her the responsibility of getting up knowing
you got to brush your fucking teeth. Because brushing teeth sucks. Also, small APR, you know,
your three plus years in, four years in to being a girl dead, it's time to learn how to braid
hair. All right, boys. I'm out. Dalton! Hey, he came in hot. Respected Dalton right there with that
entire conversation. Because Choro has, we keep him baths the other morning. We're kind of, we're getting
them ready. And Charles talking ruined. Like, let me braze your hair. It'll be easier. Your
hair's a little bit wet. Mama, it's going to take long. You know I braids your hair fast as hell.
But as Charles braided, Charles just looks over at me. You're going to have to start learning how
to braid hair. So I don't have to be the one to braid her hair all the time. So Dalton not only
felt like you heard my wife's conversation the other day. Now he's communicating it to me.
Hey, as a man, four years in, it's time to start learning to braid hair with.
see. He feels
me on the brushing teeth. Anytime you have a chance
to negotiate brushing
your teeth, especially when they come out of the dentist
Scott free. Like if they had cavities
and issues going on and it's an absolute
priority, you can't be missing that.
But when you got a little bit of leverage and leeway,
you can put a couple of them.
Negotiate where you can.
But he's also hearing me talk about the
hair, the brushing the hair story and everything else.
He's like, yeah, we got to get Willie One
Shoeff. We got to get Willie One braid going.
He's saying, teach a man to fish.
But he's also saying,
Willie C, you got to learn out of fish too.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Great phone call.
Great voice mail.
Hey, what team are you cheering for?
Go Cougars or what?
Go Cougars.
Texans. Come on, man.
Tough defense, man.
Tough defense, man.
Forgive yourself, too.
It's the title of our next one.
What's up, guys?
I am getting ready to
don't want to run part of PT Fit.
Nothing like some torrential thunderstorms
and sideways wind.
Good.
Good.
Kids are doing well.
Just thought of something I wanted to share.
It was a thing
that came up.
Just thinking about, listen to your all's podcast,
thinking about the kids.
I've got Riley, she's six,
girl dad first, and I've got a little boy,
Reed, he's three.
They go start at school and just how quickly things have changed.
Hold on to the
memories cherish everything had a rough time got on to Riley a little bit too hard but
kids are quick to forgive so if you've had just again a lesson something however you want to
phrase it something I've thought about because I've seen it in the discord and stuff where people
are having hard times with kids maybe get off a little or go off a little too much on them
get a little frustrated we've all been there kids are quick to forgive
make sure to forgive yourself too I'll be safe
I love that one.
That's a lesson.
He just dropped a lesson in on us on that phone call.
That was a good one.
That's a really good one.
Be able to not kick yourself too much.
I struggle with that on a very, very high level.
Being too critical of myself.
You got to slow it down and be like, hey, all good.
Next play.
Cool fish memory.
Next play.
Even with kiddo's getting frustrated too.
Yeah.
They do something right one time and that expectation kind of subconsciously gets planted in your brain.
Then when they fall short the next time, you get a little frustrated because you want to allude to the time they did it correctly.
Start having a little tizzy, having a little dust up.
And I need to start implementing that because I'm not even really in discipline era of fatherhood.
Biggest form of discipline right now is Scarlett reaching for outlets and me going, no, no, no.
No, no, no.
And Scarlett, knowing that no, or the head starts going like this.
Yeah.
So she'll sometimes point at the outlet and start going like that.
Oh, that's good.
Which is good.
Because if she keeps doing it, you're going to have to, you're going to have to create the zap yourself.
You kind of see her doing it and she gets a little close to the, she gets a little close to the outlet.
And when she touches it, you just creep up by the water and go, just shake the shit out of her.
I mean, what I fucking tell you?
Next time it's going to be real.
She starts crying and handed her to mom.
Take care of this.
What you do?
She touched the outlet.
Why did you let her do that?
I thought it was a good thing.
Sometimes they got to learn the hard way.
Teach her man to fish, honey.
Yeah.
Do you listen to the soul or what?
What do you do?
She keeps doing it.
I'm going to boil a pot of water and I'll have her touch that and be like, see what
happens when you touch the outlet?
You just sit around the house.
You watch your soaps.
Your husband's got a dad podcast.
You don't listen to that?
You don't give a shit about your husband, man.
Good to know.
We're getting.
We're getting.
But yeah, forgive yourself.
Forgive yourself.
Help me with my pitch is the next one.
Hey, Will, Shirm, Deke, Chef.
How are you guys doing?
My name's CJ from Omaha, Nebraska.
Oh, go big bread.
Calling in to see if you can help settle something between me and my wife.
We have a three-month-old little boy.
Barrett and we recently just sold our house and we're moving and as we are getting ready to move
into this new house I told my wife that there's a spot that is absolutely perfect on the main
floor living room to hang my white tail shoulder mount taxidermy nice big buck Midwest white
tail how many points would be a great safe for the living room great conversation
starter and truthfully
here's my main thing
when my son
Barrett gets older and he has
kids over
I kind of want it to be like
my dad's cooler
than your dad because he shoots big bucks
and your dad doesn't
and my wife
doesn't quite understand
that approach
I guess and just
curious if you guys have any advice
for a better way to sell this pitch to her that I would like to put some of my taxidermy
on the main floor is kind of a flex for when our kids are older and they bring friends over.
And so, anywho, that's all I got.
Appreciate all you do.
Thanks for the last.
And yeah, have a great day, guys.
We'll see you.
CJ, I can hear it in your voice.
I'll be honest when I thought I was going to first resolve like helping resolve an argument with my wife.
I thought it was going to be like the over under and win total for the Huskers this year.
Which what would that be if someone were wondering?
Like what would that?
The actual line.
Over.
The actual line.
Six and a half.
We're going over.
Oh, yeah.
That's a big overplay.
Come on.
That's a big.
If you happen to have the Fandual Sportsbook app on your phone, I think the over.
the move there.
Without question.
Without question.
I can tell from the way C.J.
's talking, this isn't some little
125 class,
you know, 8 point.
It sounds like it's got a G6 kicker on the
somewhere, but maybe a 140
class, maybe a 10 point, maybe 11
with a little kicker on there.
And for that,
for that reason, I would go up to
my wife, I'd say, hey, honey,
you know in our wonderful, beautiful
China cabinet that we have.
Do we put all of our plastic cups from all of our favorite little fast food spots?
Do we put that in the China cabinet?
Or do we put that in the cabinets that you can't see into?
And we put our crystal.
We put our nice champagne glasses in the China cabinet, right?
So why is my 150 class 11 point with the G6 kicker sitting in the garage?
Why the hell is it not in the living room?
that would be my pet.
Two things are happening right now as CJ's listening.
Is it a 150 class?
Because if it's not, now I think he identifies
if he can come correct with this conversation or fall back.
Because if you want to go art of war,
this seems like an element or a fork in the road, if you will,
on knowing where to take your losses.
Because another approach, if it's not on the first floor, where do you want me to hang it?
It's not going outside the house.
Even if it's in the garage or a different room, a couple things.
One, when the friends and buddies come over, it's not like they're just going to be on the first floor and they're going to see stuff out in the open.
It's a lot more fluid being out in the living area.
Now, if you get a section or a portion of the house, whether it's garage, whether it's a bonus room,
obviously not your room, people won't be going into that room.
But somewhere where the moment somebody says, you walk in the garage or you walk in that bonus room,
somebody says, oh, what's this?
That's a moment for dad, CJ, to always go tell the story of this buck.
Like where some lessons are being told.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Or people come over and you want to show you.
show them the house a little bit, knowing you're going to walk them into the corridor where this
buck is going to be present, it gives you a moment for undivided attention. Because when you're
in the living area, you're on the first floor, it's always divided. People are coming in. You're wanting
people to kind of ask about the buck. You might not get there because wife's talking to the kids are jabbering
to the kids. Let's go upstairs and play this. Let's play that. But you have it in a different section of
the house. It allows for you to have a moment of undivided attention when telling them the tale of this
120, 1, 30, 1, 40, 150,
1, 50, class buck.
I agree with that.
So as he's listening,
I think he's going to know his answer
to go with the China cabinet analogy.
I think it's a great move.
If we're talking a trophy-type buck,
if we're not,
this is one to where you ain't losing.
You're just changing the conversation
to figure out where your big win is.
Well, I believe you shot this one, correct?
Yes, I shot that bad boy right here.
I believe this is one of your, thank you, D.
And a beautiful mount as well.
Oh my gosh.
All right.
So I would hold it just like this.
I would be holding it if I were him.
To let C.J. know I lost the battle of having mounts in the house.
Okay.
Okay.
So everybody's learning here.
I think everybody's learning here.
If I cared about it that much to the good,
to the degree that CJ sounds,
it would have been a much different kind of conversation,
much different dialogue.
I would have found a spot probably in the garage
or somewhere where it's like,
hey, sweetheart,
I can tell you're stuck on this hill.
I'm not going to try and kill you on this hill.
How can I work with you?
Because it's not leaving the household,
but I need it somewhere.
Where can we compromise and find agreement?
Here's where I would say,
trying to put myself in CJ's shoes here.
You and I are both girl dads.
Yes.
We don't have a little boy.
CJ does.
CJ is trying to show his son and son's future friends,
this how you do it.
This is how you get that shit pumping.
So I can see where CJ's coming from wanting to push the masculinity.
Honey, we got a little boy.
We got to show him the right path.
But you can still accomplish all of those goals that you and CJ just said.
You can still accomplish them if they're in a different room of the house.
which I fully agree on that because my dad had like a library study
that's where all of our deer heads were in the study
and when you walked in there it was like an OD like oh Sherman does a little bit of
hunt like he had all of them out and we have it hanging on our locker room set
somebody's like oh he's just that one to will he see that be I dropped in where he stood
and I and let's say it is a 125
right what C.J. Scott.
It's not the biggest thing.
You say, honey, I think this would go
great upstairs in the game room,
something that she's going to say yes to.
The example that you said of having the set up.
But don't even say it.
Say, where can I hear a few options I was thinking of
and let her win, let her decide?
But really, she's deciding a couple of places
you already knew you wanted to hang in.
Boom.
But honey, you just want to put it in your ear
when I do get that 160 class
that I've been seeing on the game cam
with the drop time,
I'm thinking right here for that puppy.
The one I've been chasing for three years,
obsessing over with the boys,
when I get that one.
I think that one goes right there.
Get an easy yes,
so now we're in.
We already have heard yes
from the person we're selling to.
Let's upsell them.
But let's not upsell them
with something that's right here in front.
It's just the potential.
the potential for it.
And to add on selling the potential,
would you be against having another conversation
when I take that bad boy down?
You allow them to have control of the answer
to say, they're not going to say,
yes, I'd be opposed.
They're probably going to say,
I wouldn't be opposed to it.
Right there, you found a lane.
We're still building this as steps at a time.
If we're talking legacy,
you've got to pour into the process.
And when she says,
I wouldn't be opposed to it,
you hit her with,
as you're taking this off your,
you know, off your lap to go hang it up in your game room, you go, that sounds great, honey.
You know how much I appreciate your input. So I would really love to have that conversation when we get there.
Who lost? Who lost it? Nobody did, man.

Hey, this is Hayes Davenport.
And Sean Clements.
We host the podcast Hollywood Handbook on the Big Money Players Network.
Our show is extremely accessible to first-time listeners.
Each week, we talk to someone in show business, aka The Biz,
and try to help them with their careers and see what they have to offer us.
Everyone has a good time, and no one gets mad at their publicists for letting them do our show.
We've had a lot of great guests like Sarah Sherman.
Not that great.
Actually, can you help me shape this?
How about we flip it on his head?
How about we flip the script?
What is the surprise woman?
Actually, you think it's the straight man is actually the one who's acting weird.
Adam Scott, this entire time you've been expecting Adam Sandler to come to visit the show.
I would never expect.
I would never set expectations for something like that to happen.
If the universe allows for something like that to happen, I'm open to it.
I'm always going to accept.
You know, Danny McBride, fine.
Yeah, it's all this fragile masculinity.
Exuding.
I could smell it walking down the hallway, to be honest with you.
I was like, is that weed?
Nope, it's fragile masculinity.
Ben Stiller, no.
Because a lot of times out of context, people don't get it or even know what a circle is.
You know what I mean?
They're like, oh, what's a state.
Everyone's so dumb.
And fake.
Right, fake and also not interesting.
or just like, oh, I've got my life, I don't care about your life.
And a lot of other big shots that wouldn't be where they are without us.
Oh, and by the way, Will Ferrell told us personally he loves the show
and he wants to be a guest on every episode, but he's just so busy.
Listen to Hollywood Handbook on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

And on my new podcast, delivering happiness with Nick Totoro,
I deliver pizza from Prince Street Pizza to a new guest.
Are you delivering pizza now?
Then we sit down for a real conversation.
I've shared a slice with everyone from Seth Rollins.
What are you doing, my belt?
To Alex Rodriguez.
Just to let you people know, we're talking to one of the goats here.
To Bill Burr.
I don't think I've ever met somebody so exactly out of their mind as I am.
And now, we even have more great guests coming up,
including the great John Tutu.

If you know me, you know, I'm always searching for inspiration and useful tools to maximize joy.
So this podcast lets us uncover those things together through meaningful conversations with fascinating
people. Like one of my friend Henry Winkler offered advice to aspiring actors and really anybody hoping to stand out.
You're not hired just to fill time and space. You're hired to fill the space with you. You have something in
your guts. You go with it. And Sean Johnson recalled the moment she realized her now husband,
Andrew, was the one. He was just so unapologetically himself and knew nothing of Hollywood. He hadn't
been on a plane before without his family. It was so pure. Listen to Joy 101 with Hoda Cotby on the
IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Yeah, the deer did Liz.
Sorry, buddy, you're going in storage right now. In the storage unit. Thank you, P. That's a

Fun fact, did in the team meeting.
General Robert Neeland,
it's not because he was a great football coach.
They called him the general.
He was a brigadier general,
first in World War I,
then World War II.
He managed key supply lines in the Pacific theater.
And later on,
became most successful Tennessee head coach.
Neeland Stadium was not redesigned.
It was designed by him in 1940
to be what it is today, by the way,
at the 100,000.
And when it was only a 40,000 person stadium,
he designed it all the way up to what it is now,
which is like 101, 923 people.
Thank you, chef.
This email comes in from Patrick Carter.
And it looks like we got a champion on our hands right here.
No, he's got a ring on right here.
Oh, dude.
Hey, boys, love the pot and everything you guys do for this community.
I'm the dad to four awesome kids.
10-year-old identical twin girls, Emmy and Ellie,
nine-year-old son, Bear.
That's three kids in 15 months
and six-year-old son Bowen.
This email is addressing my boy, Bear.
Good on you.
And trying to get him out of the house
for flag football.
Trying to get him out of the house for flag football.
Shout out my boy, Cole Beasley,
best flag coach in the game.
Cole Beasley, former all white team.
Yeah, dude.
Me and my wonderful wife
are deep in the trenches of kids sports.
Most of the time with four kids,
we are anywhere from six to eight teams at a time,
so trying to get everyone out of the house
to get to games and practice is chaos.
End of last season,
we were trying to get out of the house
for both of our boys' flag games,
told everyone to get ready
and head to the van.
My wife and I get snacks
and chairs packed up
and think everyone is loaded up in the van.
Once I get in,
I realize my boy Bear
has not made it out of the house yet,
even though we told him
to get ready 20 minutes before.
I run back into the house
and find him sitting butt-ass naked
on the floor of his room
trying to get his,
trying to get his underwear on.
I said, buddy, what are we doing?
You should have been ready to go.
This boy without missing a beat
looks me in the eyes and says,
Dad, I'm trying.
But my wiener is just too big
to get my underwear up.
With every bit of self-control,
I was trying not to die laughing.
I failed.
Once I gathered myself, I told him,
but it ain't.
after we were back in the car,
I relayed the story to my wife,
and she said, I shouldn't have laughed
that it could mess with his confidence.
I told her,
it's crazy to think I can,
I could contain myself in that situation.
I'm not that mentally strong,
but we made it to the game
and brought home the ring.
Anything y'all kids have said
that just leave you speechless and or laugh
and keep up the awesome work, y'all.
Patty C., Patrick Carter.
Hey, first off, shout out Patty C.
I can't get my wiener in my underwear, man.
It's too big.
You know what?
You know what, Patty C?
The only, only room for coaching there for Patty C.
He's like, son, your old man has that problem too.
Just about every damn day, man.
They got started making different kind of underwear for guys like that.
And buddy, you're going to have to learn quick because that's the family curse right there.
Yeah.
You just like your daddy.
It sounds like you just like your daddy.
that's about the only room for improvement there other than that patty c legend also dallas cowboys
legend cole beasley is his son's flag football coach did we hear that correctly we heard that
correctly i believe that's his head football coach you know they are spread it out what fast-paced
tempo slot receiver is eating oh dude that is what is up with all these like dope NFL players
just be hidden little league flag football coaches love the game man
they love the game i know but that's so sick like i just the idea of that you don't want all the politics
and the profession and the career and the ambitions and traveling getting fired like hold on to your
ass blah blah blah blah blah if you've made enough it's like how can i coach this game because i would
love to coach the game love of the how can i do it with all that bullshit pressure that comes with
all the things that you can't control where it's not as much about it is about ball but not as much
about ball as it is just the purity of the game you find that in literally you find that in middle school
Yeah.
If you're lucky, you get that in high school too.
Dude, you might actually know this guy
because you're a linebacker sicko.
Kyle Clifton, Jets' legend.
He's got most solo tackles in Jets' history.
No.
His son went to high school with me.
Kyle Clifton,
aka for me,
coach,
Coach Clifton,
he was my Peewee football coach back in the day.
I bet he was a badass too.
Bro,
you want to know the best part about him?
Tell me.
The gentlest fucking giant of all times.
But when he would show you
the place. He's one of those guys
that kind of talks like this, real
soft, real kind. Got this
chef demeanor to him. He's got hands that
look like they belong on a bear's body.
But he would get your pads
and he'd move you around and show you
and you hit him right here. You get under
the pads and you, oh man, he's still
had it in him. And you can tell he was
fighting back so hard to like not
scare us, you know, eight-year-old,
nine-year-old kids. He's
wanting to get in there and just, oh.
And he always said,
freaking or effing.
He wanted to drop the F word
but it was always, can't curse.
He's effing, freaking.
Legend.
Good so.
Good so.
Do you have a lesson of the week or anything?
I don't, do you?
I don't either.
We had one from that earlier.
The phone call.
Yeah.
Just be nice to yourself, man.
Forgive yourself, man.
Forgive yourself, man.
Take out the, if you didn't take out the trash.
Take it out. Take it up.
Forgive yourself.
Sorry, I don't know why I joined in on that.
I don't even know what you said.
I leaned up to hear what she said.
Take out the trash.
I love that you joined in on that.
Felt right.
Chef, probably just see me. I just come back.
Just looking for validation after my fuck up this point.
Hey, big week ahead.
Yeah, big week.
Big week.
As you bounce back.

Last little note as a Texan, Colonel Travis wrote a letter to the United States saying that they needed troops at the Alamo.
San Anna's army was on the march and had San Antonio completely surrounded.
No one answered his call to arms except for one man.
Chef?
David Crockett.
Where's David Crockett from?
He's from the great state of Tennessee.
where the Tennessee
the University of Tennessee
called? I think we're the volunteers.
If anybody
can answer a call to arms
to volunteer.
You got this, chef.
Thank you, Sharon. I appreciate that.
