This show isn’t about expert advice and how fatherhood is the greatest thing on earth—it’s about embracing the love and suck of parenthood every day. From balancing work and family to battling the mental load, fears, and the moments that wreck you in the best way, we dive into it all with honesty, vulnerability, and a sense of humor. Cause at the end of the day... us dads have no idea what we're doing. Alongside Will is his producer Sherman Young, a recently new father who’s currently deep in the trenches of Fatherhood and loving every minute of it. Together, they’ll break down everything that can go right and wrong (...usually wrong) when you bring tiny humans into this world. Expect funny parenting stories, laughs, call-ins, advice, weekly themes, and the kind of conversations you’d have over a cold beer in the garage. Whether you’re raising teens or still Googling “how to install a car seat”, For the Dads is the ultimate podcast for dads who are in it, about to be in it, or just trying to do their best while screwing it up along the way. ----- FOLLOW THE BOYS Instagram:   / Forthedadspod  Twitter:   / Forthedadspod Facebook:   / Forthedadspod TikTok: / Forthedadspod LISTEN iTunes: http://bit.ly/BWTB_Apple Spotify: http://bit.ly/BWTB_Spotify ----- Drink Olipop : Buy any 2 cans of Olipop in store, and we'll pay you back for one. And I get into a bit of trouble along the way. I'd say probably start bone smashing. That doesn't work. Make it look more defined. They say it works.

One thing I need some dad hacks on, some dad advice out there is activities, like cool set-ups, like not like these of, hey, take this ball, throw the ball, like go, you know, stand on this little box and jump off of it. Like just some stuff for the kids to do while dad is working out is what is what I'm going to need from the Papa Team 6 community. Because I was ripping around with Scotty. Char was at doing some shopping with Rue. Yeah. But I have Scotty at the house. We went out in the garage and she rips around. She's got like her little bike. She's got some things to do that I keep her busy while I'm working out. But part of me sitting there wondering, I bet there's some stuff out there, whether it's like creative little things to set up or even like something
Starting point is 00:03:08 to add to the toolbox. You need the toy, you need the dog equivalent of the chew toy that has the peanut butter in it and they distract themselves just licking the peanut butter. Something like that. Because I could get a pin and just put her in the pen, right? But I'm not trying to, you can't, you can't confine. You can't contain Scott Zilla that way. No, you can't. But that's, that's what's on top of my mind for this episode. Welcome to another episode of For the Dad's, Pt6 community. We have a ton of right-ins this week. We got three call-ins to hit. This is a show where we embrace fatherhood. We talk. We wine, complain, embrace the suck. Talk about the, you know, things that we love, things that we're seeing out there. We engage a lot with our community. But it's just dad talk.
Starting point is 00:03:47 A couple of dads drinking some hollypop. Our boy, Shirm, he's back this week. Big round of applause. Thank you for having me. Thank you for having me. The Chase episode ripped. That was a lot of fun. Y'all crushed. And it did rip. Chase was good. Chase was really good. He was setting stone on the kid not getting a phone until 16. I liked that he was 10 toes down. Ten toes down. Like you saw the look in his face.
Starting point is 00:04:12 Like, oh, I don't even know if there's room to have some humor about it. Because he got this look like, you know. That great question. He was leaving Missou out the tunnel back in the day. Yeah. Great question posed by you of, well, let's say, you know, that dad down the road, he's talking to you now. You know, like, what do you say that she's not getting a phone? Yeah, it ain't happening.
Starting point is 00:04:35 So quit asking. Yeah, yeah. But if you're new to the channel, if you tune in to us every week, make sure you're subscribed. If you're new, make sure to go ahead and encourage you highly recommend subscribe to the boys channel. Follow us on all platforms. We're everywhere in the podcast space, Spotify, Apple, Google, Amazon, space X.
Starting point is 00:04:54 Anywhere. We're everywhere. We're anywhere and everywhere. We are. We're all over the place. But awesome episode this week. Fired up to have you back. want to catch up, just give some ketchup.
Starting point is 00:05:04 Need some ketchup. I'm sure you got some dad wins and losses going on. I got a lot of dad wins. I got some dad losses that I turned into dad wins. Last week, I was not feeling good. I took the week off as far as just kind of taking care of some stuff at home. and it was a really good time of just pouring into myself, but pouring into my family as well and just kind of taking care of,
Starting point is 00:05:40 what do we call the stuff at the beginning of an episode? We always said, housekeeping. Take out the trash. Taking out the trash. You do some housekeeping, some house cleaning. I was taking out the trash. Clean up some shelves. Physically and metaphorically taking out the trash.
Starting point is 00:05:55 Hanging up a shelf. I did. I did hang up a shelf. I built, I built, I built some stuff. I actually cleaned out the entire garage. Our garage is clean now, which that was crazy. And it, it was a really good week. I missed you guys a lot.
Starting point is 00:06:13 I miss you guys a lot and I'm really happy to be back. We miss you. Yeah. You were dearly missed. Thank you guys. Thank you. People showing up in the comments, Missing Shirm. They were.
Starting point is 00:06:22 We got follow-ups. We got Pt6 community. We got shoutouts. Dead wins and losses. New Dad shoutouts. We got emails. We got the voicemail, the hotline you can call in to 601. The Dads call in, leave a voicemail vent.
Starting point is 00:06:35 We're going to have three later on in this episode. But if you want a chance to be featured on For the Dads in this podcast as a Papa Team 6 member, go ahead and write in anywhere. YouTube comments, Spotify comments on social media at For the Dad's Pod. The Boys again, we're all over the place. We're starting to get, I love like seeing PT Sickos putting stuff in the comments, DM, us, comments of episodes of posts. Like, I love seeing that. Dude, yes.
Starting point is 00:07:02 But we're starting to get some posts there just being shot into the ether of X, which I love so much. It will just be tagging Deke, chef, Will and I, hey, where the breakfast burritos? And nobody, people are reading this with no content. Damn, are you coming back with a fuck? I'm not, I'm not trying to just dive into the breakfast burritos as, as, you know. But that's the most top of mind thing is, where are the breakfast burritos?
Starting point is 00:07:28 I know. But I love seeing people. I'll use another example that we can dive into breakfast for you know, chef. So somebody was like, hey, I saw this shirt out in the wild
Starting point is 00:07:40 like at will, eddy, get chef, and shirt. But what's really tough of mind is where are the breakfast burritos? It's the breakfast baritos. It is true.
Starting point is 00:07:51 That is, I saw somebody had a day count. Yeah. And people, people, you know, again breakfast burritos but hey the pop a team six shirt last week that was dropped number one seller that's crazy number one hitter in the busts with the boy store sold so well well that
Starting point is 00:08:07 we made the crew neck shirm has on because the shirt sold so well so sherm do a little waggle for me we haven't even done an ad on this thing we've just done it on this pod like yeah i don't think i posted about it last week which i'm sure deeks going to be up my ass about oh he'll be up your It's just organically talking about it on this show and knowing that it's the top dog. It's a top dog in the yard. I mean, that was crazy to hear. And that was this morning's team meeting. And that was really cool to hear.
Starting point is 00:08:42 I feel terrible because what was going to be a fun shout out to our PT sick as it has turned into. Chef's in a corner right now. I can see it. I know. A little bit of the corner. We're not going to allow him to talk. That's kind of us putting him in the kennel. When am I getting, I got mussel?
Starting point is 00:08:59 And go, oh, whoa, easy show. You're not going to let him to defend himself. Permission to speak. Captain of Seam and Team 6, go ahead. I wanted to see if Thursday breakfast burritos would work. What would we be open to it? Look, I think at this point, we'll be happy if you bring in anything. At any point in time.
Starting point is 00:09:24 Like there's no expectation. Bars low. I think we got to do away with the expectation. I'm not in terms of what we want. I can put the expectation of, hey, I can deliver a burrito on a certain day. That's the one I need to make up. That's a very basic level expectation.
Starting point is 00:09:41 I mean, a couple weeks I went by and pop up to the community's howling out there. I wanted to make sure Shirm got in on the breakfast burritos. It wouldn't feel right last week. Also, he's looking out for his boy. Yeah. That is. How fucked up of me.
Starting point is 00:09:54 to all of a sudden deliver breakfast burritos and Sherms and I here. Like what kind of guy am I? That would have been messed up. That's a, that's a, oh, we can't bust balls in the show anymore. Hey, what is.
Starting point is 00:10:07 That was good. I did post a video. That's the card he had. That's the cardi head. I did post a video of me drafting my team like while cooking dinner. Yes. That whole thing. And one of the comments is,
Starting point is 00:10:18 it's all my buddies in the league commenting. And then there's just one PT sicko who's like, this ain't breakfast burrito shit. So I need to get this off my back. We need to get it done. Ptysico chat. Chat, can we spam breakfast burritos in the chat, please?
Starting point is 00:10:38 Just because it makes me laugh. Any time I see a- Write a comment about chef in the breakfast burritos because I like to scroll and see the comments. And I like to chuckle. And for people that have never seen the show, it's got to be so confusing. Yeah, like, what the hell are they talking about?
Starting point is 00:10:54 Go a couple episodes back and then, Jeff, he led down the entire team. Yeah. I forgot to get, I told Will I would make breakfast burritos for the whole squad on a Sunday recording. We're all coming in. Yep. And then while I made that promise, totally forgot that I had a wedding that I was in. That was going to take up all weekend. And then I thought Will would nicely be like, hey, let's do it an 11 o'clock on Sunday recording.
Starting point is 00:11:19 And then I got the text at the reception. Hey, how about 8.30 in the morning? and I immediately was like this is going to be tough. Time about, time about, time out. Are you taking accountability right now? Are you passing the buck on like Oh, no, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:11:31 No, no. This is not excuse. No, no, this is not excuse. I'm giving context to you. My fuck up. Wedding, reception. Text came. His dad was there in the kitchen too. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:41 Dad blocked you on the, I guess, the, the skillets and stuff. No, we didn't have tortillas or anything like that we needed. That's all on me. This is still on me. I'm not putting on anyone else. But all I'm saying is all I'm hearing is wedding, reception late text. Yeah, I was explaining why. I was explaining no tortillas. I wasn't prepared. He's explaining to the chef heads out there, like that chef is accountable. He is a talented
Starting point is 00:12:06 cook and they're probably asking themselves, chef, what the fuck? You just decide to fuck over the boys. And he is saying, no, no, no, it's not like that. There are some other things at play. Well, I'm not, I'm not saying that that's the reason why I should have got it done anyway. I should have thought it through better. Of course. He committed to Sunday morning breakfast burritos when the time wasn't at all set. And he dropped the ball. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:12:34 If this show turns into a court show like a Judge Judy type show, in all of our cases are just over breakfast burritos. I would love it. I had nothing wrong there. I got some follow-ups. Let's hit them. This comes from family rabio. The family rabio says, What's up, boys?
Starting point is 00:13:00 Christian Robio over here and let me tell you great stuff. First time listening slash watching the podcast and I'm subscribing on YouTube. Just finish the episode and let me tell you again. Willie C, great guy. The passion for doing that seating chart is amazing. I think this is Donald Trump writing this email. Maybe he's What an amazing guy
Starting point is 00:13:25 And let me tell you Maybe he's got to be an event planner or something Shirm's voices got me dying Maybe I wrote this Sit all day Watching your soaps Husbands has got a pod and you don't care hilarious chef
Starting point is 00:13:39 Words cannot describe how disappointed I am With the guy I feel disrespected This is Christian Rabio Christian then continues and says I know he's going to come back and kill it I hope fourth guy I don't know yet
Starting point is 00:14:05 I haven't heard too much but so far so far better than Jeff I have an 18 month the whole baby girl and it's just nice hearing dad's talking about dad Sorry, dad life and husband life. That guy Carlo top tier.
Starting point is 00:14:24 Can't wait to listen to the next episode sent from my iPhone. That was an all-timer. What? And fourth guy, I don't know. I don't know better than chef. Can already tell. That was crazy. Chef, what a letdown.
Starting point is 00:14:48 Terrible guy. gonna come back. It's gonna come back. Lights too bright. Christian, you write like our current active president. Yeah. It's from Nate on Spotify.
Starting point is 00:15:00 He is close to tugging away about killed me. Hit the bone. Great. So, boys, cheers. It's not going to be. I didn't slip that in there. It was a good laugh for myself internally. That was one of the updates that I got from Deek was the tugging away.
Starting point is 00:15:19 Yeah, I think I texted Sherman. And I said, so on today's episode, it went really well. And Will talk to Chase about his son starting to tug away. And so that was the recap term guy. He said, Will sir talking to Chase about, and I quote, yeah, your son's around that. That's just like some guys on the golf course meeting each other. Oh, you kids 12? He's probably talking away.
Starting point is 00:15:49 Good man. you're dealing with that? You're approaching that conversation. I got one here from Ryan Talas 6909 on YouTube on YouTube comment. Why do people take nannies with them on vacation? Oh, no. So this is a road rage. This is a drive-by.
Starting point is 00:16:13 This is a drive-by comment. Okay. Call me a hater. I don't give a, oh. I don't understand why having a, I don't understand having a nanny, period. Why have kids to have others raised them?
Starting point is 00:16:26 Wait, name again, name again, name again. Ryan TALIS. Ryan T-A-A-L-E-A-L-E-S. That's on me. That's T-Molles. Ryan, T-Mah, M-A-T-MAL-A. That was a typo-9-9. I don't even know how to approach that. I don't like I get where he's coming from.
Starting point is 00:16:44 Like when I was a wee young lad and growing up and get married and we were talking about having kids and having the job, the gender rules, everything else. Part of me, I had the same kind of stance and reaction to people having nannies. Why do you need all that? Why do you need nannies? Like you guys, both do you guys not want a parent? I don't know. There's an anger.
Starting point is 00:17:10 There's an anger of like, oh, he just, he doesn't understand. Like, there's a, there's a, I'm a business owner. My wife's a business owner. very much ambitious career-oriented people that are also very intentional and very aware of we can't let our work take us away from things we want to do at the house. Yeah. And you can substitute the word child care with nanny.
Starting point is 00:17:33 It's just like having child care in general. For that to happen, if you're wanting to strictly, like, do all the raising yourselves. Somebody would have to go out and be the breadwinner. Somebody would have to stay home 24-7 to raise the kids. the amount of things that go into raising the kids is a lot. I'm not saying it's like, oh, it's too hard. You can't do a blah, blah, blah.
Starting point is 00:17:53 No, no, no. My wife just, she loves to work as well. She loves an identity, having an identity. This is her personal perspective. Loves having an identity outside of just motherhood. Yeah. Doesn't want to lose yourself. Like one of her fears going into motherhood was like losing all of that to where it's like,
Starting point is 00:18:10 hey, how's motherhood? Hey, being a mom. Like everything you're known for is just being a mom. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm not saying that whatsoever. Yeah. But she also wanted to continue to have a life that she had built and wanted to have, has ambitions herself to where it's like, for me, as her partner, I want to, we want to help and support each other any way we can while also still being very intentional with the kiddo. So it's one of those things where I see the comment and I'm like, oh, this is kind of like an insecurity or fear of like having somebody or being somebody who has a nanny or has child care. But also it's like, man, there's so much, there's so much help with child care because you're, you're like Drain, like there's been a time on our vacations where we have taken child care with us because it gives us the freedom. Like if you're a parent and you have kiddos and you operate with
Starting point is 00:18:57 child care when you're traveling or anything else, like you're still, your kids are still like, no, I don't want them. I want to be with you to where you're juggling a lot of different things. And again, I'm not saying that as like a victim poor me mentality. But if we want to go on vacation, we want to also have date nights or selves. We also would like to enjoy some of the freedoms that we been able to earn over the course of our lives and juggling all the world. Like that is, it's helpful for us. And those are things that we like to do and choose to do. Having a nanny at home, it's like, dude, my wife works.
Starting point is 00:19:26 I work. We do all the things. Scotty's not old enough to be in school right now. Roo goes to school. But Scottie's not old enough. So you need childcare at the house so we can go and work and do our thing. It's like I'm wanting to jump into here's all the things we do in the morning. Here's all the things we do in the evening.
Starting point is 00:19:43 Here's all the things we do on the weekend as a family. because I'm trying to, that would just be me trying to defend my position on how much of a mom and dad that me and my wife are. But it's like, you know, I understand where the comment comes from. I get the thought, but he's not in it. I got two ways to respond to this comment. I'll go with the first one, the level-headed one. I understand your mindset because truly that is exactly where Jill and I are. and we are essentially paying for a shared nanny
Starting point is 00:20:17 in a shared nanny space with daycare. I mean, that is truly what that is. Jill works full time. I work full time. And you grind your dick off here as a school bus with the boys. Yeah. So it's, we are working full time.
Starting point is 00:20:34 We cannot watch our kid all the time. And we are also doing that to, one, make a living, but also to provide our daughter's Scarlet with a beautiful, wonderful life of us being able to afford signing her up for fun stuff like the gymnastics class. And, you know, so there is the give and the take of sacrificing time, but also being able to maximize opportunity for my daughter through that. You and Chase talked about that a lot with y'all's, you know, the kind of the selfishness, selflessness of careers.
Starting point is 00:21:08 Like balancing the ambition and like wanting to be an intentional dad and being around. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And it's, yeah, dude, it's a no-brainer. Like, it is a no-brainer that we have to do daycare and that we're deciding to do daycare. And if we have the money for Scarlett to be able to be hanging out at our house or getting to, like, choose the calendar of her day and what it's going to look like with the child care provider that we get to single-handedly choose every single day, i.e. a nanny. Hell yeah, we're going to take that. I would. And I'm not saying that to like make you feel better.
Starting point is 00:21:48 That's like it's a no-brainer. I know. But when you see that, you know the framework, like the mental that is thinking that it's like to me, it's like somebody who's not, they are raising kids, maybe his wife is staying home all the time and he just doesn't believe in. And he believes in like, oh, I'm the man. I'll go do all the work. You have to stay at home. This is the life that we're basically choosing together, which that is fine.
Starting point is 00:22:10 that is fine. That is fine. There are a lot of elements to where there's like a, I know I'm afforded some of those, some of those things, but they are like, it's like to your point, maximizing the opportunity, maximizing the time at home. Like there is such a intentionality of trying to curate it because you see how much you can run thin when both people in the household, both parents in the household are working.
Starting point is 00:22:36 It's a hard balance. It's a tough balance when you're trying to like, figure out what are the solves here? Like if there's so many, like when I'm off in my world doing all like all the ambition things and all the things here busts with the boys and I see that it's taking a toll a little bit on my wife because she'll handle all the thinking that goes around into Rue and Scotty, that mental load that they have to think about that I'm not privy to until we're having like an A gap conversation of all the things that go into it. And it's like, oh, damn. Yeah, we need to, how about we find this solve? Here's an option. Here's an option. Here's an
Starting point is 00:23:10 option. Here's an option. What would help us to where we both feel like we are getting to do the things that we're wanting to do while also getting to do the things that we want to do here at the house? But you also, there's the side of it too, dude, that isn't being explored is that you guys are getting to handpick your nanny as well. You are getting to choose people that you get to integrate into your life and build a relationship with. They're also building relationships with your daughters that are helping to build them up to be beautiful, wonderful, incredible young women, it is a win, win, win, win across the board. It is not showing laziness.
Starting point is 00:23:50 It's showing that you are willing to go the extra mile, pay the extra cent, whatever you want to call it, to afford some of the best child care that you can for your kids. It's a win, in my opinion. And I know that that sounds like, oh, Sherman, you know, hop off Will's dick, blah, blah, blah. But like that comment, like, I might as well have, like, read the next comment and be like, I really hate fucking beautiful lakehouses with big docks that have a ski notique parked at them. What are these dickheads doing with these lake houses? Can't you just have one house?
Starting point is 00:24:28 It's like, bro, like that, that's like a situation that they're in that they can afford. and it's a way that they are able to have child care. They don't have both sets of grandparents here in Nashville. Maybe the grandparents are able to watch the kids all the time. Grandparents watching the kids all the time, that's essentially a nanny that's just also a family member and is free. So it's all child care. It's all childcare.
Starting point is 00:24:51 So it, I mean, it's all the same thing. And like, hey, I get it. Like, that it could cause like some anger and stuff and some frustration. But it's also, like, it's. just feels as funny as like being pissed off about other luxury things. Yeah. Another variable Will that you've talked about on this show is the first experience, I believe we talked about on the show, maybe not, whatever it is. The first experience you and Charo had with a daycare and the reason that you guys decided to go. And so I think that's an important factor. And the other
Starting point is 00:25:26 one I think about a lot here is you have very, again, Scotty and I've only ever had one conversation where she talked about being the weapon. But Rue is a very presentable human being and like a lovely daughter. And I think the fact that she gets to have an authority figure that is a woman that she spends a lot of time with adds to her probably respect and her level of like just seeing the world differently than if it was just you guys or family. So I do think those components are big things into why like the situation is perfect for you and why it's just a, it's a comment I added to the show for this discussion, but why it's one of the Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like, yeah, I'm sure you can break down a lot of like points with it,
Starting point is 00:26:08 but just fleetingly reading the comment and trying to handle it as well as I possibly can while not trying to sound like, oh, poor me like this. We got to figure it out. We need it. Like all these things. Here's why, guys. Here's why. But then the flip side is, do you go after that mentality? And then it's like, oh, would you think, you know, just better than us? It's like one of those pockets because you're right when you look back at when we first tried daycare and how that ended up. Did I talk about that on the show? Very bad incident took place and happened.
Starting point is 00:26:43 Actually, a couple. Rue had a seizure one time that got us to the hospital, which was a very scary moment. Then, you know, months later, uneven, a very, like, unfortunate situation happened that had us kind of like, what do we do here? Yeah. Legal situation. Yeah. multiple years of jail time situation.
Starting point is 00:27:05 Yeah. So it's like that was very scary and jarring for y'all. No doubt. And then you're out doing the interview process, trying to find the right fit because there is a level of like, you want certain standards and things being like carrying out through the way that we do at home and you're trying to find the right fit there. And again, that shit is,
Starting point is 00:27:23 it's like I'm caught in the pocket of like the, oh, poor me like this is hard. Like, yeah, I get that there's privileges and stuff with, with the spot that I'm in. Well, and the only, the only thing you can control is you. And I know that you're not overly worried about comments. Like you don't, I'm just sitting here like, you don't come in. You don't want to just say like,
Starting point is 00:27:46 Will never comes in here, you know, throughout the week and, oh, they're saying this about me on the internet again. I know that that's not something that you're actively stewing over. But you can, you know who you are. You can only control. you. And there are people that have nannies because they don't want to deal with their kid. That is a universal truth. And then there's people that have nannies because both people are working. No grandparents are in town. They love their kids dearly. They're doing it to maximize
Starting point is 00:28:19 child care stuff. That's a universal truth as well. Both can be true. Can we? What a hate it, Ryan? Well, I think that I guess I don't know my kids now because somebody else is raising them. Which, where their names are? I'm so sorry. What is it? Brian Tamales. No, his kid's names. I couldn't remember. Tiffany and. God, I can't remember because I'm never around.
Starting point is 00:28:40 It's important to remember that with your life, context matters. Just like chef in the burritos. He wasn't giving you a bunch of excuses. It was context. And see how we just spent 20 minutes talking about you and your context? Chef's counts too. Well, you're welcome. Thank you, Derek.
Starting point is 00:28:58 You're welcome. Thank you, Derek. That was very kind. See, Will. I also appreciate you chiming in on those moments as well. Yes. Hey, but well done with the call back to the daycare stuff.
Starting point is 00:29:09 Because as soon as you said that, I was like, yeah, that shit did kind of. No brainer. Oh my God. Because one of my first comments too, like when Charles and I were talking about,
Starting point is 00:29:20 I'm like, we really want to be the people that have like a nanny. There's just that you can have some perception, especially like when you didn't have it growing up. And you kind of see, you know, you see how certain people, operate or your perception of how they operate and you assume this is how they operate and you just are
Starting point is 00:29:36 like, ah, that seems we don't want to be that, do we? Yeah, I'm not that kind of guy or whatever. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That makes sense. Yeah. You're not, but you want to know what? You're not that kind of guy. So. Fucking Ryan. Dude, get Ryan Thamalli's ass up here. Get the Tamalee. Oh, I hate, I hate daddy. I fucking hate daddies. Maybe I'm a hater, but I don't give a, read it like a, like a whiny, like crying baby. Why do people take nannies with them all in a kid issue? Why do people get child care? I just don't get it. I don't care for my hater. I'll never understand having a nanny period or any child care. My kids ain't going to school. Only me and my wife are going to
Starting point is 00:30:18 raise them. Why have kids to have other people raise them? And who did that come from? Oh, Ryan Tamale on YouTube. Thank you, Ryan. Well said. Well, that kind of sounded like this one comes from Justin Grub on Spotify. Justin, big shoes to fill. Let's see how it goes. What a great surprise it was to open up this week's sewed and see Chase Daniel's beautiful face on the cover photo. I'm a lifelong Missou fan who has not one, but two,
Starting point is 00:30:51 number 10, Missouri jerseys, all because of the legend. That is Chase Daniel. That era of Missou football, Chase J-Mack, Chase Kaufman, T. Rucker and so many more created the football fan that I am today. Love the Stone and Chase's takes on some difficult to navigate parenting topics. Keep up the great work, gents.
Starting point is 00:31:15 Hashtack PT Sica. That comes from Justin Grub. Shout out Justin Grub. You think he lets other people raise his kids? Definitely. I could hear it in his voice. You're going to call your mom to come to the house and watch little Bobby right now? Yeah, I got to go to the Muzulge. I got to go to the MZoo game.
Starting point is 00:31:34 Go watch the Tigers. M-I-Z, Z-O-U. No, I'm going to the game. I need you to stay home. Wait, were you taking the day off? What was going on? Who's going to watch the kid if I'm at the Mizzou game? Let's get the Mazzu game.
Starting point is 00:31:47 I don't care if you're drained. Life's hard. You think I want to go get hammered at the Mizzou game? My friends are going to be pressed for me all. Get more wings. Get more fries. Here's another hot dog. Here's another cold one.
Starting point is 00:32:03 Twist my arm. Insene. Insene. Insene. We got somebody at the door. Oh, we got delivery person? Is this? Are you...
Starting point is 00:32:14 Oh, it's just weekly breakfast. Oh, first watch. He loves... He loves first watch. He's big on the bacon. They have good bacon. First watch has good bacon. It does.
Starting point is 00:32:26 We have some shoutouts right here. One from Brian Michelson. What's up, boys? Just wanted to brag a little bit about my dad and mom. win this weekend. We took our 10 week old on her first trip across the country
Starting point is 00:32:38 from Vegas to upstate New York took her to go see my best friend and surprise him for his 40th birthday. I got to say I was terrified of mid-flight blowouts and meltdowns from the pressure change to our surprise, zero blowouts on the plane at least
Starting point is 00:32:52 and zero meltdowns. Baby was a dog all weekend and handled everything like a champ. Wife was a dog and she pre-planned everything from the trip to the amount of, amount of formula to the exact number of diapers.
Starting point is 00:33:06 Shout out. Shout out to Jess, my best friend's wife. Dog, who threw a dope-ass-surprise party as well. Overall, the weekend couldn't have gone any smoother. Made your dad win for the boys. Also, happy 40th to my dog. Benny. Uncle Benny.
Starting point is 00:33:20 I love to call him Uncle Benny. Love you, man. Boys, keep killing the game. Mastasio out. My wife's nickname for me when she talks about my daughter. Can we please just get an edit to that readout? And instead of Will saying dog, it's that. high school kid being like
Starting point is 00:33:35 such a runback dog dog dog god that was incredible he's gassing everybody he's gassing everybody yeah he's gassing everybody my best friend dog baby was a dog wife dog
Starting point is 00:33:49 wife best friend uncle benny dog dog dog and also dude can we just get another quote graphic that says wives are dogs dude wives watch are dogs context will matter that could maybe be the subhead.
Starting point is 00:34:04 The subheading. D.A.W.G.S. Yeah. Wives are. That's how he's spelling it on there, too. If any, any females, he's at the wrong way. She just, she doesn't have context. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:17 Honey, why are you getting pissed all over this quote graphic? They spelled a DAWG. That means, you saw it just happened with Good Good Golf. You think this is a good look on the show? Calling women dogs. You think Willie C and all fat staff would be pulling this shit a week after Good Good?
Starting point is 00:34:32 You think they're that dumb? Come on, babe. Don't touch my driver. Don't touch. We're kidding on the show. But that's why she has her own job. Hey, boys. This comes from, okay, this is actually a really fun one.
Starting point is 00:34:52 I believe this guy's from Australia. His name is, or her name is Kalea. Hey, boys. My husband, Nathan. has been a dedicated listener since day one. He was actually the first call-in, I believe. Okay, so it is our Aussie friend Nathan, and we have our little Aussie flag here on the set
Starting point is 00:35:13 because of Nathan. Shout out. The first call in, I believe, or so he told me. I don't think I've ever seen him so excited than when you guys played his message. He still wears some merch you send him daily. I thought because it's Father's Day here in Australia soon, September 6, that's kind of some news that we could use, by the way. Can we get a second Father's Day going and just say it's Australian Father's Day?
Starting point is 00:35:40 It sounds like we need to. It just means that the wafie has to go down under. We're getting too much on the show right now. But we are 30 minutes in, so maybe the algorithm. Yeah, maybe the algorithm will work on our favor. September 6 is Australia Father's Day. that I'd reach out and try my luck in getting him a shout out
Starting point is 00:36:04 for truly being the most incredible girl dad to our two beautiful daughters, ivory, four, and prairie a year and a half. He is such a proud girl dad and his girls love him so much. I'm so lucky to have him as my husband and the father of our girls. But he's hard to buy for.
Starting point is 00:36:22 So I thought a shout out on his favorite pod could be the best Father's Day gift we could give him. We'd love to thank him for everything he does for us and all the dance concerts he attends, all the barbies he buys, all the princess dresses he puts on the girls. For someone who couldn't have wanted boys more, he's the best girl dad out there. Shout out, man.
Starting point is 00:36:45 And just, that's so sick, dude. I just, I love everything about that shout out. What a shout out. I know. People send in photos too because I have some beautiful photos here from Chase Showing. This email is to help the gentleman the other week. well as anyone else curious about having a child before marriage. Here we go. A call back to what two episodes ago. Yeah. On August 22nd, me and my wife finally tied the knot after being together for six
Starting point is 00:37:11 years. The ring bearer, however, was of our own creation. In early 2024, me and my girlfriend found out we were pregnant. Early on, there were thoughts about how maybe family would view us with us not yet being married. We also wanted to do the wedding on our terms and not rush that part to have it done before. our kid got here. Having a baby and planning a wedding are both stressful and we wanted to avoid overlapping the two as much as possible. Guess we didn't think raising a toddler and planning a wedding would be hard. Boy, we were wrong. Having a kid first can also show how compatible you and your wife can be because there will be hard days and hard nights where you think you are both at your wits ends and somehow you get through it and realize how much you both needed each other. Even when one
Starting point is 00:38:00 is low. The other is always there to pick up the slack and you get to go into your wedding day knowing that you've already been through some of the worst of the worst and you two were able to reach the other side. And do not worry what your family will think. I love how I've read that part kind of like I'm reading a children's book. And do not worry for what your family will think. There's going to be a rhyme coming out of that. We were lucky to have great families to support us along the way. But even if yours aren't, I think it will truly, I think it will be truly impossible for them to keep the hatred once that sweet little baby is here on the world. With all that being said, here we are two years later in tying the knot with our son,
Starting point is 00:38:39 getting to be a part of our very special day and there's no other way I would want to have it. Be young, find love, have babies, love your wife. Little man even got to join during our first dance. Had a very long day, as you can tell. Love that right in. Yeah, I love that right in. It's almost fumbling a little bit. The words, the font is tiny.
Starting point is 00:39:01 You did a great job. Tiny font. A tiny, tiny font. They're trying to get Willie C any way they can. They are. You passed. Thoughts on that will, when I had, around when I had started here,
Starting point is 00:39:17 you were talking about the hero's journey, the writing literary style of the hero's journey. And you were talking about the threshold. which is like the test for the hero that like sets them on their path of if they're worthy or not, having a kid might be the ultimate threshold test of if you're compatible with somebody. I'm not saying that is the threshold test to see if you're compatible with someone, but I do agree with him that. You kind of risk you to use that as the compatibility test.
Starting point is 00:39:48 Oh, like very much saying like don't use that as the compatibility test. Here's a fun date idea. Yeah. You had a first date idea. Let's see if we're compatible. Let's go to the bedroom. To his point, I was like, that probably really would be a very quick make or break of, am I compatible with this person?
Starting point is 00:40:10 Not only that, but it sounds like, too, some of the stress they went through with the families of like, and do we get married ASAP so maybe we can hide it a little bit? Yeah, yeah. Then they figured out on wedding day, but then, you know, bygones, be bygones. It's all behind us. Dude, and life is life. Like, for that, like, exact topic, we talked about two weeks ago that there's, like, zero judgment coming from this podcast.
Starting point is 00:40:33 I felt like was everyone's stance of, like, we're, you know, like, we're not the end-all-be-all. Accidents happen. Like, that happens all the time of people having kids before marriage. And there are a situation where the parents step up and whether they get married or not, but they step up in their great parents and there are some situations where it doesn't work out. But to the parents that do step up in that situation, that is hard.
Starting point is 00:41:03 Like I think there is, you're not skipping steps in the sense of like how it needs to be done, but you are skipping some steps in the process of like building that relationship with your partner. And for the people that are able to do it and are able to be great parents and be kind of baptized by fire,
Starting point is 00:41:26 kudos to them. Because that would not be easy. You also find a compatibility test through wedding planning as well. Oh, dude. If you choose to get help planning the wedding, Ryan Tamales probably doesn't get help planning a wedding.
Starting point is 00:41:40 Ryan Tamalee. You don't want to be off. He's these fucking weddings, man. It's like they don't even care about actually being in love. They just want the Instagram photo at the end. Look how pretty I am. Look how big the wedding is.
Starting point is 00:41:55 Fucking pissing me off. That's literally he DM me that. He said that. Ryan's about that life. You know he doesn't believe in planes either. You can't fucking drive. No, fuck that. You can't walk to your destination.
Starting point is 00:42:10 You only got one flight? Oh, you got two feet. You had an airplane? Yeah, you know, we weren't meant to fly. You know that, right? God would have put wings on us and we're supposed to fly. At getting a wedding planning. You're playing in the wedding.
Starting point is 00:42:25 You don't want to plan the wedding where you don't love me? And your mother always seems to have an opinion. She might be good at helping. Maybe get her. Ryan Tamali. Yeah, I love him. He's a good dude.
Starting point is 00:42:38 Good dude. We actually have Ryan Tamales. Info. Was that a YouTube comment? I think we have his address. We should go back to Ryan Tamales' YouTube info and just spam some breakfast. Burrito comments underneath it.
Starting point is 00:42:54 Yeah. Need a little context. Yeah. Okay. Well, we've done a lot of shoutouts. We've done a bunch of follow-ups. Will, do you have any dad losses? Other than having a nanny.
Starting point is 00:43:14 That can't count. Not a big one in the last week. Man, I hope my wife's not listening right now. And she's like, oh, you're forgetting this one. I forgot to take out the trash. last week. Okay. Maybe the week before, too.
Starting point is 00:43:32 Oh, I have a dad win for you. I have a dad win for you. That's going to help. Yes. What just happened in the last two weeks? Yeah. Convenience centers. Convenience centers.
Starting point is 00:43:46 They have them here in Tennessee and you can go dump your trash at the convenience center. And Will, if you really want to get your rocks off like a fucking sicko, they have a cardboard. dumpster just for cardboard. And you could throw as much cardboard as you want in there. And if you want, you can pay the lady that works a place a little extra and have her run up on you towards the end to be like, hey, get out of here, get out of here. If it kind of like gets your juices going. Because it's legal dumping, but, you know. Okay, so convenience centers.
Starting point is 00:44:18 Convenience centers are here in Tennessee. Good dad hack. If you have some extra trash laying around. Yeah. I visited them. that. Yeah, I got you. Scotty took a lump,
Starting point is 00:44:30 two marks on her head. One, this one, this on her forehead right here, like a little egg, bro. She fell off, she kind of like fell off her chair or couch or whatever and smoked her head.
Starting point is 00:44:43 We tried telling her, Scotty, you're going to fall. Scotty, you're going to fall. Scotty stopped playing so close to the table. That probably got her more excited. We moved her a couple times. Hey, you got to sit down
Starting point is 00:44:52 during movie night. You have to sit down. You have to watch the movie. Yeah. It's Pizza Friday. Boom. And I'm talking lumped up, bro. You got hard wood, dude.
Starting point is 00:45:05 Hardwood, yeah. She hit the corner. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It was not, it was not good. Yikes. We think she hit the corner. Oh, dude. Charlott felt terrible.
Starting point is 00:45:14 It was like, should we take her? I was like, doctor ain't going to be able to help us. Hey, Scotty. He's Scotty. I took up my iPhone and turned on the light and I was like, Scotty, follow the light. Because I was looking up, I started to Google, like, you know, what should we look for? and it's like vomiting and passing out. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:30 Their pupils are dilated. So I'm like, all right, we can test this one. I'm like, what day of the week is it? Sweetaw, I'll just give her my concussion test on the sideline. Who are we playing today? You hold up the lava? The lava. She's good.
Starting point is 00:45:48 She got lava. She's good. Look, she took a lump. She learned a natural consequence, hopefully. Oh, poor thing, dude. That stinks. Scarlet got bit. At daycare.
Starting point is 00:46:00 By another kid? We just brushed over that by another kid. Yeah. I don't know how much I'm supposed to talk about that now that I'd bring that up. Yeah. I don't know. But she got bit on the thumb. It pissed me off.
Starting point is 00:46:14 Everything was above board. Like we got reached out to by the daycare and everything. Everything was fine. I'm like, what are they doing by my daughter? Yeah. Who's watching them? What was the kid's name? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:27 Who are the parents? can I have their number but I was really feeling that way to show up at the front door with Scarlett it was on her thumb it's like right here you can see like the marks that's like kind of her first big boo-boo oh deeks got something
Starting point is 00:46:41 I was just gonna ask how they let you know because I'm in a group chat with a bunch of guys who are all having their first kids second kids and they all send in like a permission slip written that says like how the kid's day was and it's like a frowny face I got bit by Tristan or something like that so how did they let you know
Starting point is 00:46:57 because I always think sending a letter home to say your kid got bit is crazy. But I don't have a kid. That is. Opposed to you're learning about it when you go and pick her up or pick them up? I guess like picking up or a call. Like it always feels like that. Like these, maybe the dads are,
Starting point is 00:47:11 but I just get sent a picture of like a report card that says, I got bit today. And that just feels weird. That's hilarious slash feels like how it would have been handled when we were kids. We have an app. We have a pro care app with our daycare. And it's like, you know. So you can see real time updates.
Starting point is 00:47:31 Yeah, real time updates. I literally got a push notification that she got in. I literally got a push notification. It was like Mr. Mrs. Young, we'd like to communicate that. It's like very, you know. How bad was the bite? Not to where she needed stitches or anything like that.
Starting point is 00:47:46 Like it didn't. I asked because these kids, it's like a pit bull. Like they'll lock and they don't understand how much it's fucking hurts. Like I'll mess around with Scotty. And then one time she'll get me on. But hey, God damn, bro. Well, and so you can't.
Starting point is 00:47:58 We're playing right now. You got to know that you're buying me a little too fucking hard. And they said that that's, that Scarlet, they wanted us to know, which made me feel even worse, though, that Scarlet wasn't like antagonizing. They said that she was exploring her friend's face and was like being very gentle and just kind of like touching, touching her mouth and her nose. And it was like all, you know, friendly. Exploratory. Yes. Exploratory sweet stuff.
Starting point is 00:48:25 And then that kid was just like. Give me that. Yeah. And just... That'd be Scotty, bro. Scotty swings. She's... It's still a...
Starting point is 00:48:36 Not a massive issue, but, dude, she just swings on Rue at all times. But she's swinging above the belt, above her weight class. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Like, I would want Scotty around Scarlet
Starting point is 00:48:48 for that exact reason. If, like, I would know that, like, Scotty's probably going after the bigger ones. So the bigger ones are coming after Scarlet. Like, Scottie's kind of... the bulldog like, yeah, junkyard dog that's like,
Starting point is 00:48:59 hey, leave us alone. We're playing. Yeah. Scottie's got linebacker potential. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:03 He's got the mentality for the egg out. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Dad loss, I was trying to think of a dad loss when you came in and were talking to me
Starting point is 00:49:14 this morning. And I couldn't think of a true dad loss. Of the only one that I could think of was how badly Scarlett is teething right now. It is, dude, I thought teething, this is for any first dad, like you always like hear about like when the first teeth come in.
Starting point is 00:49:36 And I thought that's all that teething was, was like once the first teeth break through, then it's like over and done with. It's so much worse now. She has like four to five teeth all coming in at once. And she's just constantly like pushing on her jaws like this and being like super sensitive. and whiny. And it sucks to watch. You're like, dang, you're like going through a ton of pain. We hit her with Motrin and stuff before she's going to bed.
Starting point is 00:50:10 But it's been affecting her sleep a little bit. But dealing with the teething, I didn't realize that it gets worse. Like, it's not like it was just something that happened. Is she waking up through the night? Oh, yeah. Golly. Oh, yeah. Charo apparently had to hit a couple on sky.
Starting point is 00:50:27 Scottie last night, but you dead at was knocked out. I was like, oh, because I went when I came in this morning, came into the bedroom. I saw Scottie in the bed. I was like, oh, you coming to hang out, get some cuddles and kisses, all that kind of stuff. I was like, when did you have to go begin her? She said, I probably got her like 10 minutes ago because she was just yelling. And she's like, that was the third time.
Starting point is 00:50:44 I said, oh, you had to get her a couple more times? She's like, yeah. I was like, oh, shit. Will. I was nowhere. You and I were in sleepland dapping each other up because that is exactly what happened to Jill last night. She got up at midnight. She got up at four. She got up at 5.30. Scarlett did like beat for beat. Scarlett did the exact same thing. Will Jill reach over and give you a tab and beg? Hey, you got a...
Starting point is 00:51:09 Not last night. She didn't last night. But yeah, sometimes she does. It's like she's kind of got that. We're talking about wives or dogs. My wife is a dog. And she likes to lead the charge with that stuff like the first couple times. Yeah, yeah, yeah. She keeps the main monitor, like, by her bed, the one that's, like, super loud. So she'll always be the first one to strike. And you'll be snoozing away. Snoozing. Snoozing. Like a proud girl dad. Got one right here. Uh-oh. A dad fail. Who's this from, Ryan? Trevor. Trevor. Oh, Trevor. Gurel. On Instagram, Dad lost boys. Trevor from Idaho here. Hi, Trevor. Hi, Trevor. Petty Sicko and
Starting point is 00:51:56 listen to the show weekly. Keep ripping boys. Dad fail. My 21 month old woke up about 2.30 this morning, good. And decided it was time to party. I went up and rocked her, tried to put her in the crib and back up she was.
Starting point is 00:52:13 Good. My wife said, just let her cry it out. So I walk out of the room and she starts bouncing on her mattress like a trampoline. No. more than close the door and hear a loud bang open the door and there is Rory chilling on her belly on the floor. Oh, fucking good is what he writes. Ideal even.
Starting point is 00:52:34 No bumps or bruises besides her ego, laugh out loud. Absolutely love the show and always looking forward to the next drop. Love you boys. When was that for Rue? When did Rue start being able to climb out of the crib? Dude, you know, knock on wood. I mean, Rew's got her big bed now, so it's all good. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:50 But Rue never got to the point where she's climbing out of the crib. Really? Rue just kind of started like over the past few months, like figuring out she can open the door and come down to mom and dad's room. She doesn't do it a lot. Our issue with Rue is when we moved her to twin size, she would fall out of her bed. Because we didn't have the rails. We didn't get the rails. Got it.
Starting point is 00:53:15 So if you're a parent out there wondering like what are things to do because they roll around, there's some rails that they get kind of like, you know, bumpers at a bowling lane. And did you all get the rails eventually? No, no, no, no. She's calloused. It's like, hey, you got to figure it out. Yeah, don't. She's falling down a couple nights when we're just,
Starting point is 00:53:31 Char and I are watching TV downstairs a couple times within an hour. She'll fall and hit the ground. We never adapted. We never looked at our strategy and thought, like, let's get these rails. We just, I don't know, we just kept going up there and, like, helping her out. That's crazy. Because she's fall and then she's, like, come up to where, you know, she's kind of out of it or she's just being a sitting or kneeling.
Starting point is 00:53:50 position and then just kind of start crying because she kind of doesn't know where she is. Sometimes she would fall out and then just go to the couch and sleep on the couch. I'd go up, pick her up and move her to the bed. Scottie is, Scotty scouting report. She is one that'll have potential on like climbing out. Maybe. Yeah. She's not like actively trying right now, but she's a, you know, she's a physically resilient
Starting point is 00:54:14 young cat. When you go to wake her up in the morning, is she usually, up and like waiting for you guys? Like does she shoot up instantly or is she like kind of a slow to wake? She's like usually awake got a big smile on her face. Always kind of like ready to rock, whether she's up leaning on the crib or kind of like laying down and just yelling mama dadda. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:36 Mama dadda. Or yelling whatever she's yelling. She could be playing. Uh-huh. But she'll let you know it's time to get up. That's how I knew that Scarlett's teething has been bad because that's usually like she's so happy to start the day. and is like up.
Starting point is 00:54:52 If she's not up, what I usually do is I'll like, I told you all I like sing and I go over and pull the drapes aside. I open up the blinds and let the sun come in. And by that time when I turn around, she's always standing. But with the teething stuff, dude, she is just forehead buried into the mattress.
Starting point is 00:55:13 And it's been just like, oh, like whenever I'm waking her. Yeah. I'm like, ooh, okay. something's up. Scotty's been so excited. She like bounces and jumps like on the rail and she's she's busted her chin on the rail.
Starting point is 00:55:29 Golly. She's got so much of you in there. It's crazy. She's also got this aggression that I don't feel like is me where it's like so say she hits her chin on the thing. You like pick her up and try to console her but she's like mad and she wants to be down because she's whether it's embarrassed or whatever and she'll start swinging on the rail. You're like mad at the rail for for hitting her. Yeah, yeah. She's like, what the heck rail?
Starting point is 00:55:54 Yeah. That's kind of sick. Yeah. You'll be able to. She could be like Trevor writing in like because this is 21 months. So that's Scotty. Yeah. Scotty, I just don't think she has that we haven't like lifted it up to where she,
Starting point is 00:56:07 I don't think yet. She has the ability to climb out. She could. She's a, she's all over the place. Yeah. Scotty's all over in place. You cannot contain her. She's like Michael Vic and his prime.
Starting point is 00:56:17 You know what I mean? Who was, dare I say it, a dog. Yeah. Michael Vick, dog. Dog. I mean, yeah. For a couple reasons. But Scottie is where you'd have to go man up three deep
Starting point is 00:56:30 and spy the middle linebacker and do D&C contain. When you're playing defense against Michael Vick and Madden back in what, 040. 0, 4.05, dude. Oh, yeah. Golly. The only one that could keep up with Michael Vick then if you just had a rush end was Carlos Dunlap. from former Florida Gator. Like he'd be the one that had like 89 speed
Starting point is 00:56:53 that could at least keep up and run a little bit with Michael Vick. I'm getting into Sicko Madd Moore. Who was he playing with at the time? Would have been Bengals probably. Yeah, probably. Yeah, was it the Bengals? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:04 He definitely was a Bengal at some point. I don't know back then. Was it Carlos Dunlap? Am I saying that right name? I mean, that's a very good defensive player that played. The Bengals, the Chief Seattle Seahawks. He was on the BCS Florida Gators in 09. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:17 Carlos Dunlap. Yeah. You got to run that prevent. Yeah. So some of the people that are our age in their mid-30s, they used to play mad and know exactly what the defense. I'm talking about when you played against the Falcons. Yes.
Starting point is 00:57:31 Also with the hitting of the rail after she gets hurt, you'll bottle and channel that. Yeah, yeah. That's somebody who's very teachable. And you're licking your chops potential like that. Oh, yeah. You said, oh, I kind of like that when she went back in it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:47 Oh, come here, sweetheart. But I kind of like this. Sharm, if you want a transition, we are on the clock. You guys would like to make a pick. Oh, yes. For the Dad's Fantasy Football League, it's six hour... Four hour time window. So we're still going on.
Starting point is 00:58:07 Four hour time window. From Sunday. Right now? Yeah. We got three and a half hours to make our pick. The draft right now? For the Dad's Fantasy League. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:16 To make one of our picks. To make one of our pitch. I showed you yesterday and you're like, we got some studs. Yeah. Yeah. You're still on the clock. It's still going. Yeah. Yeah. You got four hours to make your pick. I love that. It's a paid. It's a deal. I mean, what a PTCCO league. It's a big deal. Yeah, it's just a bunch of dads.
Starting point is 00:58:36 Nobody there wasn't a time. What's the league called? This is the, so this is the PTCO. We're in the NFL. There is a CFL that is the relegation league. And I think it's worst three teams and best three. swap at the end of this year. So we're in the NFL. We got some studs.
Starting point is 00:58:52 You know, that fires me up that we are in a PT Sicko Fantasy League with a bunch of dads. With a bunch of dads. A bunch of dads are having to set their alarms to, well, you know, I won't be up for another four hours. So my draft pick will probably be at 3 a.m. then I'd all set the alarm for that. Would you have picked Jackson Dart over Bow Nicks? Because we got in, not we didn't get into it, but as owners, we had a good healthy debate. I think the floor for Bo Nix is much higher, but the ceiling potential Jackson DART. It depends.
Starting point is 00:59:33 Like, do we have another cue that's starting? Are we looking at who the starter's going to be? That's our QB1. That's our QB1. I'm more like Bo Nix. I need something that I know, okay, he's not going to be the best, but you need a good at least 15 every week. We're going to build around him.
Starting point is 00:59:52 We went dart. I wish you would have been there for this discussion because I was big Bo Nix and they were DART and they just kept going, which was kind of cool. He just gets my piss hot, man. He does, but Bo Nix can still beat you with his legs and Bo Nix going into the next iteration of the Sean Payton offense.
Starting point is 01:00:11 I think there's again, there's things that he hasn't tapped into, whether it's footwork, whatever it is, weapons. We all agreed that. He was QB7 last year? That's what I mean. Okay, we all agreed that Bo Nix was probably the smarter choice. But we also agreed the more fun choice would be Jackson Dart.
Starting point is 01:00:29 Yeah, true. But again, it's like the example that you compare it to is what Anthony Richardson going into his second year or first year? That's a, that's a little bit of an out there. Now it is because of how it's unfolded. But again, you're looking at more of like ceiling potential. And you're like, you have to kind of get wowed by, oh, look at this guy's a bit. Anthony Richardson also only played 15 games in college. I think everyone going in that second season. At least I was like, I'll believe it when I see it kind of thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:05 Boneyx played a lot of college. Anyway. Bo Nix is like you can believe it because you have seen it. Jackson Dart is in the won't believe it until I see it. You've seen a decent bit. You've seen somebody who's out there that if he don't start sliding, he's going to get his, he's going to get knocked stiff. That's a big problem.
Starting point is 01:01:23 That's why we're going to draft a backup today and we'll need to lock in for it. Who do we want to draft right now? What do we got? We got to keep forward to the ads. We're kind of getting out. We're fantasy football pod right now. I know the dance love talking ball. They love talking ball.

Starting point is 01:05:25 jump into crack a cold one? Let's crack a cold one. Get me crack a cold one. Crack a cold one is of course brought to us by Olipop. I've yet to try the caramel apple. Time out. Is it cold? It is. Okay. Need it to be cold because this this ceiling potential caramel apple. This is the drink of Spooktober. I do not like caramel apples. Like that's not a treat that I would go after. I like this drink. Don't lie to us.
Starting point is 01:06:02 I'm not. You will watch me finish this drink. Like it is a good drink. I do like caramel apple. And I'll say the hints of all of it is very well done because I'm a crisp apple fan. You throw a little caramel in there. Who knows if it's going to taste too. Is that what it is to you?
Starting point is 01:06:18 It's going to taste too syrup. be. But caramel apples the drink of Spooktober. You talk about a great release time right now heading into the fall? I said, Sherm,
Starting point is 01:06:32 when we were trying it, that this is the perfect thing to pour over top of like vanilla ice cream when people do that like butter beer ice cream mix. And so it's a perfect one for that. Yes.
Starting point is 01:06:43 It actually really would be a good float drink. It is a great float drink. If you have my brain right now, we're at Universal Studios. We're at islands of adventure. drink. We're Harry Potter. Yeah. 1,000% bro. That's a well fucking done, Deke. Great call. We gotta have caramel bubble floats. We did. We should.
Starting point is 01:07:04 Next pod. Next pod. Hey, you are spot on. We can make them. And you see the look in my face. I'm not fucking. No, no, no. You were spot on with you. Which is, I like it. I like the energy of your brain. Because it's a good flavor. When you painted that, I'm like, yeah. Allie Pop is just going to be sitting there watching us eat. our floods. It very much reminds me that I'm drinking butter beer right now. Like I'm envisioning it in my head.
Starting point is 01:07:28 I still have the taste of caramel in my mouth in a good way. Yeah. Like it's a very nice sweet taste. Holy shit. I cannot wait to put that on it. Can you taste the apple? When I drink it, yes. But the aftertaste of the caramel,
Starting point is 01:07:43 100% overpowers the apple. And I like that. As far as now that, I'm thinking vanilla ice cream. I'm thinking pie. like the, yeah. The float is unlocked. What's your crack could call one this week for?
Starting point is 01:07:57 I'm looking forward to Labor Day weekend. Families coming in town. My dad's coming in town and Jill's mom is coming in town. We're knocking some stuff off the docket as far as stuff that needs to be done around the house. That does unfortunately include the doggies going back to Fort Worth. they'll be returning with Jill's mom when she comes up here. And I'm going to the Auburn Baylor game, which I've seen on the Instagram reel, that that original clip of me not being able to go to the Auburn Baylor game
Starting point is 01:08:38 has been getting follow-up comments like crazy. So I would just like the world to know that there wasn't a battle. there wasn't a war but I'm going to the game but if there was if there was like a winner in the situation I'll be in Atlanta on Saturday
Starting point is 01:09:01 watching Baylor get their ass whip people are saying people are saying and win or lose I'm like I've already told people my heart's going to be hurting really bad if Baylor loses
Starting point is 01:09:16 which that's fine, but I am very excited for the road trip that I'll have with my dad. That's going to be fun. From Nashville to Atlanta. And then just getting to spend like that quality time with them. Some time outside of the house of like no kid and just like getting to be, I don't know, an adult going to an adult event. It'll be fun.
Starting point is 01:09:52 Yeah. But yeah, I'm very much looking forward to that. A bonus crack a cold one. I saw The Odyssey this weekend. That is the first movie that Jill and I have gone to the theaters and seen since the birth of Scarlet. Yeah, since the birth of Scarlet. What's Scarlet do while you guys are watching the movie?
Starting point is 01:10:13 We got a babysitter. Got a babysitter. It was epic. We went and saw a matinee. So you let somebody else raise your kid. I let someone else raise my kid for a solid four hours, however long that movie is. What'd you think of the movie?
Starting point is 01:10:29 Loved it. Absolutely loved it. Which one was it, sorry? The Odyssey. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Oh, no. Oh, no. Odyssey.
Starting point is 01:11:01 These nuts and your memory. mouth, man. My brain was there. When you had that, I can see you in slow mooch. Sure. Sure. Hey, no.
Starting point is 01:11:17 What's his name? John Bernthal? No, no, no, no, no. Hey, he was in the Odyssey. And by the way, the Odyssey, the Odyssey nuts joke is a smooth one. It's a smooth one. I had somebody with that at the Bahamas.
Starting point is 01:11:34 Poor Harry. What was Harry doing? We were playing a board game and I was say, Hey, what's the movie? Because I got God on the On Three pot a couple weeks ago. They got you God. And I'm sitting there, I'm like, yo, that is a brilliant nuts joke right now.
Starting point is 01:11:47 What was the movie Matt Damon was in? He's like, oh, the Odyssey. And I was like, Odyssey. He's not in your mouth. Can we cut to that? Like, would On 3 be cool with us cutting to that? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just for any PT sickos that didn't see that?
Starting point is 01:12:00 No, no. And it gave context. And to give context. And to give God. It got out context. Nebraska comeback. It's like that. What was that?
Starting point is 01:12:09 Matt Damon movie that just came out? Oh, the Odyssey. God, I mean, you ought to see these nuts in your mouth. Yes. Yes. Gotta have context. But I hit Harry on a two piece, too. Yeah. Another game takes place and he's sitting on my left.
Starting point is 01:12:24 And I was like, hey, you into, dude, are you into, are you in the fitness? He's like, yeah, yeah, I am. Is Harry a friend before this trip? Yeah, yeah. Harry then. Oh, okay, okay. No, we were, we were cool before the trip.
Starting point is 01:12:41 No, Bob said, you knew Harry before the trip. Yes, I knew Harry before the trip. I knew Harry before the trip. I thought that was just some random guy. And the fitness one was the second one. I didn't even finish it on the fitness one. I said, hey, you in the fitness? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:12:53 And I was like, come on, man. I just got you again. Through him a towel. Clean yourself up, bro. Oh, my God. Dude, imagine that being your icebreaker on the beach to meet a fellow dad. Like the kids start like playing. They're having a good time. Imagine a couple in a car right now listening to this pod. Yeah. And a PT sicko or maybe future
Starting point is 01:13:19 PT sicko. So I want to put you on this pod. And in that moment, in this moment, she pauses and just looks over like, this is what you want to me. This is what you want me to listen to. Yeah. And then that's when you turn to her and you say, wait, you don't like this show. Philip loves a show. She goes, who's the? Philip. You go, how about you fill up on these nuts? And then you hit play. Nuts jokes and fantasy football talk.
Starting point is 01:13:49 Oh, wow. This is going to teach you to be a great dad. Oh, this is spectacular. So this is what my husband listens to when he has his headphones on around the house. Perfect. You said your crack of coal one? Oh, my crack a cold one. Did I use the grandparents one last week?
Starting point is 01:14:07 I don't think so over at grandparents' house Oh, you did Yes Damn, two weeks ago We did it again over the weekend Charles had a bar three event Like a company event
Starting point is 01:14:17 Where she hosted a party at the house Oh, that's right Shoutout bar three, no free shoutouts Um And so We went to drop the kids off At grandparents
Starting point is 01:14:29 Yeah Because she was going to do the party For like several hours In the evening time And she's like Well, what are you going to do? Are you going to participate in the party? I was like oh sweetheart
Starting point is 01:14:36 week zero college ball like this is uh the fact that we're driving up around noon to drop the kiddos off at grandparents's house they've already stayed they already stayed with them a couple weeks ago we got a little trial running and a little bit of a walk through yeah and it went very well to where they were prepped to go for the second time but dude the kids being out of the house like driving back home with wifie and going to an empty house and kind of prepping helping her prep for the party and everything else and it's kind of like, what are you going to do? It's like, oh, I'm going to go hit legs in the garage.
Starting point is 01:15:10 And then I'm going to go to the shop and just start pre-prepping and getting ahead on some ESPN pre-production stuff for our college football show. Yeah. They were going to be at Baton Rouge on Friday and watch some ball. And just knowing that it's like you don't have the guilt, like, while I'm here watching the games and prepping for ESPN. Charles having a great time at home doing the bar three party. And just knowing that they're like the kids involvement would just be a text from the grandparents.
Starting point is 01:15:36 but knowing that there's no, there's nothing weighing on you that wifey's at home with the kids. Like I need to be, I would have been at home. I'm being selfish. Yeah. None of those states are playing.
Starting point is 01:15:49 But I guess I can't use it again because I used it last week. But dude, it's like it's unlocked something new in both of us. Dude, not that we're rushing to go drop it up, but we're just thinking like in the, now that we're in the flow, Rue is old enough.
Starting point is 01:16:02 Scotty is like, she just fits in like a puzzle piece. She's got older sister Rue with her. they sleep in the same room. They knock it out of the park staying with Lola and Opa. Lola and Opa loves having them over. I'm sure they're, you know, a little much at times. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:16:15 With breakdowns and them fighting and stuff like that. But also, dude, it is crazy. I 100% the parents out there that have the tribe of parents close by or in town or whatever it is to where your kids can go stay at their house. Dude, it is incredible. It's got to be. And then you wake up the next morning and there's not like the monitors aren't going. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:16:39 We're laying down in bed at probably like 1130 or 10.30, 11 at night and be like, yo, because Charles, like, I got to teach in the morning, but not until 9. So it's like, oh, you still get to sleep in. Yeah. I mean, I can do whatever. Yeah. There's no pressure.
Starting point is 01:16:53 Yeah. There's nothing. So I wake up, I'm going to go do some zone two. I'm going to go, I don't know, veg out on the couch. I'm going to sleep in. I'm going to try and sleep in as much as possible, even though your brain just can't get past like, sleeping beyond like 8, 8.30.
Starting point is 01:17:07 Yeah. But I'm just going to lay in bed. Who knows? Doesn't matter. The world is our oyster, bro. That's honestly why I'm looking forward to Atlanta. Just kind of like what we talked about over the phone to you and like conversations I've been having with Jill of like. But isn't Jill going to Cali with Scarlett? No, she's staying in, she's saying in town. She decided she's not going to California.
Starting point is 01:17:32 But where Scarlett going to be? With Jill. Lisa. Lisa's going to be a massive help. But I'm just saying when it gets to the spot, when Scarlett's old enough to kind of like, you know, you entrust your bear or whoever for her to sleep over.
Starting point is 01:17:44 Dude, it is crazy, bro. Oh, big time. I'm talking about the feeling that I'm going to have in Atlanta because Scarlett's not on my brain. She is with grandma and mom. And like how much I didn't realize that I needed those little breaks. Like you need those moments. where you can better, you know, self-care to you, better care with your wife.
Starting point is 01:18:12 Like, that's epic. That's epic, dude. Yeah. Just envision one day when it's like you and Jill go somewhere, whether it's a staycash or whatever it is. Or whether you're at home and maybe your parents are in town and they have like an Airbnb or something and it's like Scarlett's going to go sleep over there. And you guys are just driving back home and be like, what in the hell do you want to do tonight? We can do whatever. You know who's punching air right now?
Starting point is 01:18:36 Ryan Tamales just tied to a chair going, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. So what else is racist? No, no, no, no. Not really because he doesn't believe. He just doesn't believe in it. So he's like, you know, teach their own. But dude, it's awesome.
Starting point is 01:18:55 It's crazy. That's a huge crack of cold one way. It's one where you're just sitting there and you're like, oh, I get it when people kind of talk about them going to stay with grandma and grandpa. Yeah. It's crazy But if I had another cracker hole one
Starting point is 01:19:10 Because I know I used that one last week But it's like I'm not gonna get into it again It's so nice you did it twice Yeah Like man we can kind of do this To where if I want to get some ball watching in
Starting point is 01:19:20 Sweetheartedly go take care Do whatever you want to do Let's go drop them off at Lola and Opas Yeah I can watch ball all day Yeah I don't have to like sneak around You know what I mean
Starting point is 01:19:31 Yeah I know You unlock something here Yeah, yeah. You did. It is a beautiful thing. Other one would be like, dude, I am the jungle gym for Scotty and Roo because it's like monkey see monkey do. They always want to do what each other does. Dad, can I ride on your shoulders once one goes up there? The other one's got to go up there. But it's like, we'll be, say we'll be chilling. Scotty can just cuddle with mom and relax with mom. Charles probably like, that's not true.
Starting point is 01:19:59 Okay, I know she does climb around a lot and everything else. But it's pretty rare that Scotty will just lay there with me. If I'm on the couch and Charles, I go lay with Dadda. I'm like, oh, come cuddle with Dadda. It's sprint over to me. It's climb up because she gets to walk on my chest and jump and bounce on my stomach and do all the things. But she loves it. And I enjoy it a ton. But we've gotten in like a good routine when Dadda's home.
Starting point is 01:20:23 Like obviously Dad's like the play people. Yeah. She wants to race all the time. She wants me to chase, do all the things physically. But we've just gotten in a great rhythm to where it's like I get a lot out of it because I just look at her. She's sprinting over. And then Rue wants to do the same stuff.
Starting point is 01:20:39 Rue's much bigger. I'm like, sweetheart, you wake. You can't jump on my stomach the way Scotty's jumping on my stomach. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And Rue was more of a cuddler, I'm guessing, with you. Yeah, yeah. Scottie's much more active than Rue. Not that Rue was inactive or anything.
Starting point is 01:20:54 Yeah, yeah. But Scottie's just, she's just got that screw loose. Or she's all about whatever it is, climbing everything, running around everywhere. She's just, she's a busy body. She is. She's a busy body. It's funny that she's already built that relationship between you and mom.
Starting point is 01:21:12 I know what you mean of like Scarley is similar-ish of like the only time she's really being still and stuff I feel like and cuddling is with mom. And with me, it's always like wanting to do something fun or crawl. Yeah. Yeah. Like mom's just like the safe space. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. towards, you know, they always want to be a mom's arms or be around.
Starting point is 01:21:37 She wants to be around a mom more. But it's like when dad has someone, she knows what time it is. It's play, it's play, play, play, play, play. That's great. Like with Rue at that age, because we haven't really done a lot of Miss Rachel with Scotty at all. Because Scottie just doesn't sit still. Rue, you could sit there and she would watch Miss Rachel.
Starting point is 01:21:57 She would sit there for longer than 10 minutes. Like if there was a 20, 30 minute pocket that were like, hey, where you can watch some TV, we'll put it on Miss Rachel. Scotty just doesn't, she can't sit still. You know what I mean? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:22:10 Like you have to wait until she's just like trying to break the the baby seat or like the dinner seat that she's in where she's kind of going ballistic. Like, okay, we can let you out. Yeah. Because she can't like sit there and like,
Starting point is 01:22:23 you know, I know there's like she's not old enough yet to sit there and watch movies per se, but at least be engaged. She just doesn't, she just doesn't care for the stuff that's on TV. That's funny, dude. And some of that I feel like is the kids' personality as well. Because Scarlet can 100% stand there for sometimes like two minutes. She'll just stand with
Starting point is 01:22:46 her hands up on the ottoman and watch Frozen and just kind of sit there and Jill and I will be laughing in the kitchen getting dinner made or whatever. And we're like, look at her. And she's just like sitting there just smiling, look at the TV. And then there's other moments where we'll give like pictures from daycare of kids crawling and there's like a you know somebody sitting there reading a book and I she didn't get it for me but Scarlett's just sitting in a chair listening to the teacher read a book and there's other kids like crawling around and I'm like I was one of those kids crawling around she got that for mom Rue's got the ability to veg out yeah yeah Scotty I just don't see any of that yet like maybe she will she gets older. But I feel like Rue also had that ability to veg out even when she was like 21, 22.

Starting point is 01:26:03 Hey, this is Hayes Davenport. And Sean Clements. We host the podcast Hollywood Handbook on the Big Money Players Network. Our show is extremely accessible to first-time listeners. Each week, we talk to someone in show business, aka The Biz, and try to help them with their careers and see what they have to offer us. Everyone has a good time, and no one gets mad at their publicists for letting them do our show. We've had a lot of great guests like Sarah Sherman, not that great.
Starting point is 01:26:27 Actually, can you help me shape this? How about we flip it on his head, right? How about we flip this around? Okay. What is the surprise woman? Actually, you think is the straight man is actually the one who's acting weird. Adam Scott, this entire time you've been expecting Adam Sandler to come to visit the show. I would never expect.
Starting point is 01:26:53 I have. I would never set expectations for something like that to happen. If the universe allows for something like that to happen, I'm open to it. I'm always going to accept. You know, Danny McBride, fine. Yeah, it's all this fragile masculinity exuding. I could smell it walking down the hallway, to be honest with you. I was like, is that weed?
Starting point is 01:27:14 Nope, it's fragile masculinity. Mm-hmm. Ben Stiller, no. Because a lot of times, out of context, people don't get it or even know what a circle is. You know what I mean? Like, you're like, oh, what's a state. Everyone's so dumb except for you. And fake. Right. Fake and
Starting point is 01:27:30 also not interested or just like, oh, I've got my life. I don't care about your life. And a lot of other big shots that wouldn't be where they are without us. Oh, and by the way, Will Ferrell told us personally he loves the show and he wants to be a guest on every episode, but he's just so busy.
Starting point is 01:27:46 Listen to Hollywood Handbook on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Months. That's crazy. Yeah, it's it's like fascinating. You just see differences and both of them. Well, we have some exciting news with our dad call-ins this week. Let's hit some call-ins.
Starting point is 01:28:04 Our dad call-ins are presented by Gravely. We got a segment sponsor with Gravely? With Gravely. So Gravely, they are our presenting sponsor for our dad-call-ins. So let's get into our first dad-call-in, which is titled Horseload of Shit. Hey, boys. This is Josh from... Pittsburgh via Oklahoma City and today is day three of potty training and before I get to the
Starting point is 01:28:41 the gory details I do want to give everybody a little put you on some game here so we've been using the book called oh crap body training by Jamie Galaki write that down and as much as he sounds like a great football last name this woman's methodology is kind of unique. The first three days, the toddler is supposed to be totally naked. And as you can imagine, when potty training, that can lead to some serious, well, some serious meet me in the A gap and let's find out how much of a man you are, kind of situations like happen today. So far, so good for the most part, he seems to be understanding that he should pee and poop in the potty.
Starting point is 01:29:29 and occasionally the little man gets there but about an hour ago he backed up stood right in front of me and opened up to what can only be described as sorry everybody a horse load of shit onto his old man's chest
Starting point is 01:29:47 a literal like when you see a horse poop at the fair and you haven't seen a horse poop in a while and you're like damn that's a lot of shit that's how much shit was on my chest just an hour ago from my toddler. Oh, Josh. Just keep battling.
Starting point is 01:30:02 Just keep battling, you know. I'm a hockey guy. So, you know, next shift. Yeah, next guy up. Get up steep. Get him in. Get him in. Meet me in the A gap.
Starting point is 01:30:12 I'll get you on the next one. That's what I told him. And, you know, so all the parents out there potty training, I'm going with it. I'm going through it with you. And all I can tell you is that a adult olipop and a little bit of, down in a hole by Allison Chains
Starting point is 01:30:30 goes a long way to heal you from getting a shitload of horse manure from a toddler on your chest. So, guys, thanks for the podcast. It's awesome. And thanks for all you do. All right. Legendary call. And I will
Starting point is 01:30:46 say, when Rue, the whole, them being naked for body training, when I came in on day one, when it kind of started and already happened, I wasn't like privy to all that. Now, when I see Rue and she's just kind of running around naked. I'm like, what the f's going on in here? Why are we doing?
Starting point is 01:31:02 Potty training. I'm like, this is how you have to potty train him? We're doing naked baby? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Naked baby alert. Golly. When do you start doing that? Am I getting close to that? I think it's in the two range. It's in the two range. It's got to be. Scotty's not two yet. Okay.
Starting point is 01:31:24 And you know how my brain works. I was about to say, I'm just waiting. Like, I didn't realize I did the same shout out last week for crack a cold one. Jill could come in to our bedroom tomorrow and say, and we got to start potty training in Scarlett, you know. She's a year and two months now. I'd be like, oh, okay. Yeah, all right.
Starting point is 01:31:43 Does Google tell us? Google does. I got two little ones. I'm like, I kind of don't remember. So there's a little timeline. So 18 to 24 months, some toddlers show early physical independence and bladder awareness, making it possible.
Starting point is 01:32:00 to introduce the potty. Two years to three years. This is the most common window where physical development and communication skills align. By age four, the majority of children achieve full, daytime bladder
Starting point is 01:32:12 and bowel control by four. Okay. Okay. Yeah, I'm tired. I'm 18 and 24 months, I'm like, Scotty, the clock's ticking if you want to be great. You want to be great,
Starting point is 01:32:21 you only got a couple more months. You're worried about the rail day in the gym. You need to be worried about shitting on the floor. What are you doing? And that's why, that's why we're a couple of dad experts.
Starting point is 01:32:32 Yeah, that right there. In some rare cases, you don't control your bladder, even up until 36. And that is perfectly fine. There's nothing wrong with that. Also, a shout out to, that was... Were I going to shame, bedwaters? Yeah, yeah. That was a friend of the show, Josh.
Starting point is 01:32:54 Deke's friend that came into the office, we've met Josh from Pittsburgh. Shout out Josh. Shout out, Josh. He's the man. Appreciate you calling him. He's the man. He's the man. He's the man.
Starting point is 01:33:03 He's the next man up. Get the next shift in. I'll meet you in the A-Gap the next time. Oh, yeah. Stay away from my daughter. Is our next one. Hey, boys. Former Mike Backer,
Starting point is 01:33:15 kind of in the A-Gap today. Got a message from my daughter, six-year-old daughter, first grade. Found out some little boy, Samuel, kissed her on the cheek today. I'm in the A-gap. And I just want to know, comp, I got some advice for me. Am I going to have to show up and call for Samuel's dad when I roll up to first grade?
Starting point is 01:33:40 See, I'm not going to get to meet him in the A gap. Put my screws right underneath his chin and let him know. Yeah. Stay away from my daughter. Or I just play a cool, comp. Shirm, you can chime in as well, boys. Thank you. But, yeah.
Starting point is 01:33:58 First, first and only child. six years old gets a peck on the cheek i don't like it my wife says that's that's kind of normal you know my daughter said ew she didn't like it which is good but i just want to vote cop what are we doing in this situation i appreciate what you guys are doing Zach from uh Zach from sacramento talk to me talk to me baby i think a great starting point is knowing that his daughter said ooh so right there opportunity take a walk with me. And let her know, sweetheart, we can't let those things happen. Yeah, yeah. If it does happen again, you got to let me know immediately. If you're my man here and you happen to be around it and
Starting point is 01:34:42 can see it, maybe you can snag the photo, because then you can bring the photo to the old man and just point, zoom in for him and let the old man know, this has to stop. Yeah, who is that? Is that, uh, or me and you were going to have problems. That kind of looks like Samuel, doesn't it? Crazy. because it looks like Samuels putting one on my daughter's cheek. Yeah. And next time it happens, it's going to be me kissing your cheek.
Starting point is 01:35:07 And when I say kissing you on the cheek, it's going to be me putting this right here right underneath your fucking chin. I'll give you a kiss on your cheek and your damn hospital bet, buddy. Because you're going to be breathing through it too. Hey, you love your boy. You want them eating out of a straw?
Starting point is 01:35:24 That might be too far. That might be too far. We're joking. But maybe he's got a rapport with the old man. But also most schools have a directory. Most directories will have a phone number or home address on there. I don't know. And maybe the driveway got a couple of, you know,
Starting point is 01:35:43 razor played to it. Maybe he just keeps on getting flats blowing into his driveway. I don't know. I don't know. I see you got a nice call. You like you call? Oh, that thing's cherry. That thing's pretty.
Starting point is 01:36:00 nice. What do you think happened to that, do you? No way. He just started next time it happens. He just starts keying his vehicle. Imagine someone's vehicle because they kissed your daughter on the cheek. Bro, when Rue was
Starting point is 01:36:20 two, we were at State Golden when it was over on this in Nashville. And we were next to this other family, Boyd, similar in age. And when we left, because they were playing together. They were running up and down the halls. And when we left,
Starting point is 01:36:41 with Rue, it's always a hug and a kiss. Rue gives this boy a hug and a kiss. He's like, oh, oh, I almost didn't know how to respond. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But we gave her a talking to on the car ride. Yeah, yeah. Mom let her know, sweetheart, we only kiss family members.
Starting point is 01:36:58 Yeah. We can't be kissing strangers. Yeah. And I'm like, especially no boy. She's like, sweetheart. You saw his haircut, babe. He's a job. the kid's going to be a nobody. No, sweetie, he saw an angle and he took it. Where's the one that kissed him? Oh, my God.
Starting point is 01:37:22 Third and final voicemail or calling is when it rains, it pours. What's up, boys? This is, yeah, it's been a day. Okay. I'm an expected father. My wife is currently 35 weeks pregnant with twins. twin girls and the last 48 hours have been complete chaos. Buddy.
Starting point is 01:37:48 We've been dealing with a little, you know, plumbing issue. And yesterday morning, my wife calls me up, says the kitchen sink is completely overflowing and flushing out sewage, basically, from our septic tank into the kitchen. So I'm at work. My parents go over there. They help her out. They get it all dried. They get a plumber.
Starting point is 01:38:07 Plumber doesn't get there until today. So my wife spent the night at her mom's because she can't, we can't use the water. Good. I spent all evening till like 1 a.m. cleaning, taking care of it, all this stuff, right? I get like three hours of sleep. Get up. Good, good, good. We have a new bed frame.
Starting point is 01:38:25 The head of the bed frame collapsed on me, and my feet flew up in the air when I got back in bed after snoozing my alarm. So my dad gets there for the plumber that's coming. Plumber gets there. My dad calls me about an hour ago. He says, hey, there's a busted pipe. You got to rip out your whole front stoop, all this stuff. Oh, fuck.
Starting point is 01:38:46 All kinds of issues. Could be a while. At the same moment that I'm on the phone with my father, who is dealing with a plumber for me, my wife calls me. Oh. It says, it's time to go to the hospital. Oh, yeah. Doctor said I got to come in, having tons of pain.
Starting point is 01:39:02 Think I'm going into labor. Oh, yeah. So I leave work, and I'm on the way right now to pick up my wife to take her to the hospital. And, uh, yeah. good. Good, boys. When it raves and pores, love you guys. Pitch six out. I appreciate that phone call,
Starting point is 01:39:24 that voicemail so much. He's on his way, you know what I mean? All this chaos is happening. He's like, let me call in. I got a vent to the boys. The fact that he thought about us. All three, I love the energy of all three callers coming in. Yeah. Those were good call-ins. All entering the A-gap. They really were, all three.
Starting point is 01:39:42 do best of luck to you and yours and congratulations I mean I'm guessing that you know they had the kid by the yeah you had the kids oh they did have the twins they had twins oh my god dude imagine twins you gotta tear up your porch good it's amazing and you got all the brown paper that you got to walk on
Starting point is 01:40:06 you got to put the shoe sleeves on because you're walking through there's all this construction going on in your house Good. Yeah. Ideal. No sleep. Good.
Starting point is 01:40:16 Postpartum, good. The cartoon, like, illustration in my head of just the feet above the head is incredible. You know, he was... He's got to stools of my alarm. Imagine the stair that you have at your bed when you finally gather yourself and you get out of the bed.
Starting point is 01:40:36 And it's like a Willie C. Picking out of the soda at the gas station. you're just looking at you. I mean, you gotta be kidding me, man. Gotta be fucking kidding me. You just sit there. Pregnant wives sleep in a grandma's.
Starting point is 01:40:55 He's in hell. House smells like shit. Yeah. Seems like you got a busted pipe. You know, shit. Oh, really? Okay. And of course, Dad Collins,
Starting point is 01:41:08 they're presented by Gravely. That is it for this week's ad call-ins. Click the link in the description below of this episode to find your Gravely mower. Dude, I love that Gravely's on board because you know the haters are punching air right now. How will he get a lawn mowing company? He doesn't even mow his own yard.
Starting point is 01:41:32 Tomolli's losing it right now. Phoenix is losing it right now. We got a little bad. of them. You were starting to collect them. Phoenix. Phoenix, dude. Cannon's going to hate them all.
Starting point is 01:41:49 Oh my God. He's going to hate them all. Yeah. Once we get all of Cannon's voicemails, oh my God. The guy that calls in each week and he literally just, he knows that. I text them from the phone sometimes. Check in. Make sure he's having a good day.
Starting point is 01:42:05 He just calls in to bitch about haters. He hates the for the dad's haters. And he just leaves these. Oh, really? Oh, yeah, leaves like four. This is the one we said that he was ready to go fight the blue-haired barista that said you didn't have a day job. He had gone.
Starting point is 01:42:20 That set him off. Set him off. We need to come. That's a guy that's on the squad. Yeah. We need to compile the cannon cut. He's listening to the Tamale comment coming after my boys. He's like the guy in Billy Madison with just the list.
Starting point is 01:42:40 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Listen, well, you kind of doesn't know how to defend himself. I don't blame him. You kind of don't know how to handle. I need to take care of this guy. Yeah. Do you want to read an email and then I have a lesson of the week? Yeah, I'll hit an email.
Starting point is 01:42:58 Okay. You have a lesson of the week ready? Yes, sir. Yeah, you read the email. I'll do lesson in the week. This one is from Thomas Spots. Oh. Hey, guys.

Listen to Hollywood Handbook on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm currently sitting on my kayak. Yes, my Papa Team Fit shirt is on. I haven't listened to the latest sewed yet. It's currently 6 a.m. while I'm writing this.
Starting point is 01:47:54 Lately, I've been getting up early, doing my PT fit, going for a run and then taking the kayak out on the lake. What a hell yeah, dude. I'll just sit there for a while and relax and drink my coffee. It's been really good for the mind. Recently, I've been going through this wave of sadness of getting older, watching my kid grow up and realizing just how fleeting time really is, as you guys always say. Then while I'm sitting here on the kayak right now with the birds chirping sun coming up
Starting point is 01:48:21 and my hot coffee in hand, I remember it's Wednesday, and I'll be listening to For the Dads on my way into work, and I know it will put me in a better mood. Maybe I'll laugh, maybe I'll cry. Either way, I get something out of it and I always feel better afterward. I can honestly say that you guys have made me a better father, better husband, and a better friend. I really appreciate what you guys are doing. It's something I look forward to every week.
Starting point is 01:48:43 You make me feel normal. You make me feel human. And you remind me that it's okay to not have everything figured out. I've got a three-year-old daughter, Emma, who is amazing, absolutely crazy. But I wouldn't want it any other way. So I just wanted to say, thank you. Keep doing what you're doing because it really does make a difference. I appreciate you guys.
Starting point is 01:49:03 that includes the boys in the back. Tom from Denville, New Jersey. What a very nice... Come on, dude. Thank you, Tom. In his kayak sipping some coffee? Some coffee. You got a picture. After PT fit.
Starting point is 01:49:19 Look at that. Oh, big red. Bro. We got to get her in New Jersey, though. Hey, that is a badass morning routine, though. Kayak in the A.A. In the PT fit. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:49:32 Having some coffee out on the water, watching the sunrise. back all today's Wednesday. The fact that he's thinking about us, dude, is, that's so cool. And thank you. Remind me his first name. Thomas. Thank you, like, just thank you, Thomas,
Starting point is 01:49:50 for taking the time to write that in. Because as much as you say, hey, thank you, Will and Sherman, the guys in the back for the show, blah, blah, blah. Like, thank you for that ride-in. Because if you think we're helping you be a good dad, dude, It's it's write ins like that that remind me of all the good dads that are out there.
Starting point is 01:50:09 And what I aspire to try to be as a dad. Like, I mean that. Like, that's really cool shit right there in that email. Yeah. Don't, like, bottle those, bottle that gratitude up. Because, again, it's like life and chaos happens. Yeah. I mean, loose side of it.
Starting point is 01:50:28 Yeah. Loose side of it, get caught up in all your own bullshit. But, dude, having mornings like that. Having a kiddo ripping around in a 15, I'm assuming Tommy Frazier. Oh, that's, okay, good. That's Tommy Frazier. Could be. I was thinking around.
Starting point is 01:50:44 We'll say Tommy Frazier. We'll say Tommy Frazier. We'll say Tommy Frazier. We'll say it's a Tommy Frazier jersey, Jersey. But no, thank you, man. Thank you for the words. Thank you for making us feel very undeserving with that right in. But that is awesome.
Starting point is 01:50:59 Love that. Thank you, Thomas. I have a fun. lesson of the week this week. Let's hear it. It is a longer quote. It comes from Stephen DeNere.
Starting point is 01:51:14 And you might not know who Stephen DeNere is. I didn't until I listened to a TED talk of his. But this is a little cert from a TED talk of his. He was a senior foreign exchange and emerging markets trader for Bank of America and AIG. and then he was the founding portfolio manager of a $1.25 billion
Starting point is 01:51:38 global macro fund, like a hedge fund. So this guy is making crazy financial decisions that not only, crazy big financial decisions and not only affect himself, but affect everybody whose money are in these hedge funds in these huge banks, AIG and Bank of America.
Starting point is 01:52:01 And so he was talking about, making decisions and the importance of making good decisions. And these are now his words. Novak Jovovich, the tennis player, back in 2004, when he first became a professional player, he was ranked 680th in the world. It wasn't until the end of his third year that he jumped up to be ranked third in the world. He went from making $250,000 a year to $5 million a year, and prize money alone. And of course, he did this by winning more matches. However, winning matches all comes down to decision making.
Starting point is 01:52:41 So back when he was winning about 49% of his matches when he was ranked 680th in the world, he was winning about 49% of the points that he was playing. So every single point that he would play in a match, he would win 49%. of those. And he was having to make a decision in every single one of those points being played. Then jump up. Then he jumped up and became number three in the world and earned $5 million a year for swinging a racket. And in order to move up to third in the world, he had to improve his decision success rate to just 52%. So from 49% to 52%
Starting point is 01:53:32 he shot up from being 680th in the world to top 10 tennis player in the world. Then to become not just number one, but maybe one of the greatest players to ever play the game, he only had to improve from 52% to a rate of 55%. So we keep using the word just I don't want to imply that this is easy to do.
Starting point is 01:53:58 Clearly it's not. But the type of marginal improvements that I'm talking about are easily achievable by every single one of us in this room, all in our decision making. So building on making good decisions for yourself, and that is a great example right there, waking up early to get in a kayak and go watch the sunrise, getting out of bed early.
Starting point is 01:54:22 That's a good decision. Seeing that your wife maybe didn't get to knock out all the stuff that she usually knocks out before bed, some stuff are laying on the counter. Making the good decision to go clean that for. Making the good decision to, I'll meal prep this week or making the good decision of making a grocery list to make it easier for your wife if she's the one that buys groceries. All those little tiny decisions, good decisions that you can make will increase. the amount of output and the amount of success that you'll see every single day. I'd love that it was only a jump from 49% to 55% is what got Jovovich from 680th in the world to arguably the best tennis player of all time.
Starting point is 01:55:14 So I thought that was a cool lesson. Well said. Thank you. It is, dude, it is nuts. Because at the 49% it feels like the entire world is on top of you, right? Yeah. And just a 6% increase, you're now number one in the world. It's like getting a golf ball too.
Starting point is 01:55:29 Like you could just have a bad shot and it just feels like, you know, what the fuck am I doing wrong? Yeah. It really just like what would be the margin of just turning your club a little bit differently? What would it be? Like, millimetres? Millimetres. They're playing by like a tenth of a degree in angle, like in terms of angles and stuff. You switch a tenth of a degree and then you have a completely different personality.
Starting point is 01:55:54 by the success of that shot. Yeah. A tenth of a degree. Yeah. If we're having that as factual. But think of how small that is from how you feel personality-wise and mentally on a bad shot to just a tenth of a degree off or a tenth of degree change. Yeah. And what Stephen also, if you want, the entire TED talk is really great.
Starting point is 01:56:20 But he just talks about not only making the. right decision, but allowing yourself to make decisions, taking yourself out of situations and not forcing yourself to do everything all right then and there. Being able to press pause, go to the kitchen, make a water, and think to yourself, hey, I'm stressed because the world's on top of me. Okay, what's one thing that's going to get the world not on top of me? My garage, this is just an example of my personal life. My garage is a mess, dude. was a mess. I can go clean that right now. And I didn't get all of it done that first day. I said, I have time this Saturday that I can go clean the garage further. Didn't get all of it done.
Starting point is 01:57:07 That day, I said, I can finish it up on Sunday. Finish it up on Sunday and now I have a clean garage. And that's just an example that worked for me. But I just, I loved how he, he's always talking about, like, press pause and find those moments in your day. We might make a bad decision of, I'll use this as an example of like, it's not even a bad decision, but going to go eat some fast food because you're running home late from work. Like instead of going to go get the fast food, maybe go to the grocery store, take the extra time to like get some flowers for Wi-Fi and get her favorite little treat from the public's and you can get something to eat as well. Like something that is a better decision than what you are making.
Starting point is 01:57:55 Well said. I kind of talked in a circle. It was a good one. There's a reel or something I saw that was basically like the person that left the house this morning is not the person that's coming home this afternoon. So you're a different person. And so you get to make those decisions and decide, am I going to come home and be a different person,
Starting point is 01:58:11 a better person. And those little decisions change everything we're talking about. I think that was a great lesson, Sher. Oh, thank you. Thank you, dude. Golf Club. Golf clap. Change you in a millimeter.
Starting point is 01:58:23 I got to make the decision this week. While people are listening to this ode to take out the trash. Take out the trash. We'll see you next week. We'll see you next week. Burrito emojis in the comments, please. If you've made it this far, burrito emojis. We love you, chef.
