This show isn’t about expert advice and how fatherhood is the greatest thing on earth—it’s about embracing the love and suck of parenthood every day. From balancing work and family to battling the mental load, fears, and the moments that wreck you in the best way, we dive into it all with honesty, vulnerability, and a sense of humor. Cause at the end of the day... us dads have no idea what we're doing. Alongside Will is his producer Sherman Young, a recently new father who’s currently deep in the trenches of Fatherhood and loving every minute of it. Together, they’ll break down everything that can go right and wrong (...usually wrong) when you bring tiny humans into this world. Expect funny parenting stories, laughs, call-ins, advice, weekly themes, and the kind of conversations you’d have over a cold beer in the garage. Whether you’re raising teens or still Googling “how to install a car seat”, For the Dads is the ultimate podcast for dads who are in it, about to be in it, or just trying to do their best while screwing it up along the way. ----- FOLLOW THE BOYS Instagram: / Forthedadspod Twitter: / Forthedadspod Facebook: / Forthedadspod TikTok: / Forthedadspod LISTEN iTunes: http://bit.ly/BWTB_Apple Spotify: http://bit.ly/BWTB_Spotify ----- Drink Olipop : Buy any 2 cans of Olipop in store, and we'll pay you back for one. Ladies and gentlemen, moms, dads, P.T. Sickos.
We have some good news.
we deal.
Chef Jack,
although we got started,
we got started
later than anticipated.
Chef Jack is finally brought in the burritos.
Round of a pause for Chef Jack.
He finally bought in the burritos.
He, uh,
listen,
he saw the comments.
There are a lot of comments
on last week's episode,
just burritos.
Assure him,
he's holding one right now.
We cannot wait to dive in.
We are on a,
we are on a bit of a,
timeline. So we're going to eat these burritos while we do this podcast. Hell yeah. Hell yeah.
What's going on in the dad world with you as far as a cold open? Or do we want the burritos to be our cold open?
Hey, 10,000 views on last week's episode on YouTube. Come on. Very fired up about that. Thank you guys for showing up.
Thank you guys for supporting. Please make sure you are subscribed to this podcast. Make sure you're following on all of our podcast channel, Spotify.
Apple, wherever you get your podcast, we are on it.
Just a couple of dads.
A couple of dads that talk about fatherhood, wins, losses, ups, downs, everything in between.
This is not an expert podcast.
If you are new tuning in, because I do assume that all the PT-6ers out there,
the PT-sikos, are sharing this podcast with dad friends of theirs.
Oh, for sure.
With buddies of theirs.
For sure.
Okay, you got to check the boys out, Will and Shirm.
They're just an electric factory.
I'm sure they say it just like that.
Shout out to Josh and Garrett.
Some sickos I ran into in the wild.
Bro, they're out there, man.
Both ST sickos.
And they wanted to shout out for the dads.
They said they don't listen to every episode.
But when they dive in, they really enjoy it.
So shout out Josh and Garrett.
There's nothing like a dab up in the wild, man.
Oh, for sure.
Like when we were in Baton Rouge and some would just come over,
Like, hey, big fan of what you guys do.
Second, I'm not talking busing.
I'm talking for the dads.
Chef bringing those burritos in anytime soon?
As a matter of fact, he's supposed to do this next episode,
the one that we are currently on.
So everybody's fired up.
We got chef back in the house.
The burrito is very good.
Chef, their gas.
I did take a bite.
Good.
Okay.
Yeah, the Pico de Gaio, like, is hitting big time.
I'm glad you guys said that I had one at home.
And the problem was last night I cooked the steak.
I did it beforehand because there was just so much.
I knew I was going to make a lot.
This morning when I heated them up,
and the reason I'm late is when I was making the steak ones
and I've been into mine,
it was still like even thrown in the pan,
it was still cold.
And I hated it personally.
And I was like,
I have to throw these in the oven.
I had them in the oven for like 15.
So that's why we're late.
I want to throw the hand up.
But if it saves the burritos.
They're great burritos.
They're great burritos.
Thank you.
There's a lot of stuff happening today.
A lot of stuff happening.
A lot of stuff happening.
Yes, and they didn't need a whole lot of salsa because of the pico.
Like, it's a perfect amount.
I didn't get no pico on them.
No, no salsa.
Just pico.
Do we have salsa to dip?
I didn't bring any salsa to dip.
I was going to grab hot sauce.
I feel like that's a necessity for breakfast breakfast.
I wanted something to dip.
Is it not?
No, no.
Sherim, is it not?
We, uh,
I feel like with the,
with the pico don't need the salsa.
And I mean that.
It's got the cake.
We're hurting on time.
So I'm not going to go in the depth.
But the biggest thing I would change,
I'd redo the eggs.
And then I would get like another sauce.
I would do like,
you brought up an aioly.
An aoli would be amazing.
I don't taste aioly in here.
There is no aoy.
That was like the one thing.
I was like,
I'm just an aole.
I didn't know that.
you mentioned it.
I said it right off the top.
Is there anything in particular you like in your burritos?
I said, I'm a big aoli guy.
Oh, shit.
Or for the next run.
Chef.
It's a good burrito.
Great burrito, dude.
Great burrito.
Yeah, we,
what do we want to jump into?
Dad losses?
You went to, over the weekend,
you went to on a father-son trip with your dad
to the Baylor Auburn game.
What happened to that?
If I talk just a massive
Dude I want to give a crack of coal one
Right off the jump
Right off the jump
Brought to us by Ollie Pop
Always yours truly
Strawberry vanilla right here
Matter of fact
They got a
Just got a random text
From Audrey over the weekend
She was shopping
And just took a picture
She took a picture
Of crisp apple
Just to send it to me
Let me know she was thinking about the boy
But my crack of cold one
This week
It's to my wife
wife. She went to Maine over the weekend with the kiddos. Oh, really? It was our first weekend. It was our
first Friday doing busing and paint on campus on ESPN on Friday afternoons. So it was kind of
our first big weekend in the college football season where we went to Clemson and LSU.
Flew out Friday morning, didn't get back to like late Saturday night. Charlesman wanted to go
visit a friend out of Maine but was running through the options of do I take the kids with me or do I just
do I just harness up? Do I strap up?
Take both kiddos with me to go out and see Margo.
I don't know when else I would go out and see her.
And she decided to go out in Maine, travel with both kiddos.
No nanny Ryan Tamales.
No nanny went with her Ryan Tamales.
Brave soul.
Yeah, Charles was like, we were having the conversation.
I was like, you don't want someone else raising your kids, do you?
She raw dog the trip.
Yeah, she raw dog the trip.
She's like, no, no, no.
She's like, I listen to the pot too.
Ain't nobody fucking raising these kids.
I'm going to go out there solo dola with the kiddos.
But traveling out to Maine, having a one stop, had a little one stop flight.
But going out in Maine for the entire weekend, flying back with the kiddos.
She just, Charo is a beast, dude.
She runs a business.
She's an instructor for the business.
Not only does she work on the business, she works in her business because she absolutely loves it.
She is a phenomenal mother.
She is, she thinks about me constantly.
She's always thinking about me in every situation.
and traveling out with both kiddos
it was like I was
texting back and forth
with my boy Nick Halle
because it was his birthday
over the weekend
I was a day late on telling him
Happy birthday too
Happy birthday Nick
Happy birthday Nick
But I was texting with Nick
And telling him
Happy belated
And we're kind of catching up
because there's some stuff going on
And then
I was going to tell him
I like oh she traveled solo
So I guess she's also a
beast. He's like, dude, she's such a beast. I would never tell her that though. I don't want her to
have an inflated ego. And I'm like, dog, she really is. Kind of going in for all the reasons I
just told you guys. And I was like, you know, I don't know why she wants to work so hard with her
business, but she just loves it. And he, Nick chimes and he goes, she even remembered my birthday.
Oh, yeah. Hit me with that. Oh. Yeah, Charles, Choir, Texas, my birthday. And she was like,
I was honestly, I was going to remind you, but you told me the other day when I,
I brought up Nick and White's birthday coming up because my brother, Nick's birthday's on the fifth,
White's birthday's on the sixth.
And, but you told me you had him locked in the calendar and was ready to go.
So she was like, that's why I didn't like remind you or say anything about it being Nick's
birthday because you had already said that you're ready to go for Nick's birthday.
So Nick out there listening right now.
I know your dumb ass is smiling and giggling.
But happy birthday to my boy, Nick.
But my crack a cold one goes to my wife because I was kind of having that.
Nick and I were going back and forth about how much of a beast she is.
And she just, she just is a beast.
And so I'm cracking a cold one of that.
Crack a cold one.
I join you.
As we said last week, wives are dogs.
DAWGS.
My crack a cold one is the Labor Day weekend in totality.
More specifically, getting to watch Papa Shirm operate.
He was putting up Hall of Fame dad.
numbers like I had never seen before.
I would love to go through his stat line
if we could. Please.
So this is Sherman Young Sr.
He's a father of two.
And this was how he went about
a road trip from Nashville, Tennessee to Atlanta, Georgia
to go watch a football game.
All road trip snacks were purchased night before.
That was night before.
That's a heady play.
A heady play.
made sure to ask me, hey, do you have your sunflower seeds?
Do you have your beef jerky?
He knows what I like on the road.
So he was already picking my brain, making sure that I had everything we needed.
As we're walking on the house, he hit a phone wallet keys,
had me hit a phone wallet keys, but then asked me Dopplit Charger.
I said got Dopit Charger too, Dad.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I'm starting to just let him.
I want Papa Sherm to operate.
That stuff doesn't annoy me anymore.
I love it. I love it.
I lean into it. That's who he is.
That's who he is. And I'm going to love my old man for who he is.
Yes.
Gassed up that morning? No.
We gassed up the night before. We got a full tank as we depart.
Breakfast was planned out a week before.
So we have the breakfast plan fully planned out.
Departure time was debated for a,
good hour to two hours while we are doing some grocery shopping for it. And granted, he was only
here for two days. But we did some grocery shopping the day before. And we debated our departure
time. When should we get to the stadium? It was a little tricky because we have the central
time to eastern time zone change. What do we do? Papa Shirm is using Grock a lot now. Grock is
his best friend. Oh, he operates with Grog. He operates with Grog. He operates with Grod.
talk with Grock, like say what's up and stuff?
Truly. Or she's just like asking questions to...
All the time asking questions. All the time. And so we asked Grock, we said, Grock, if we leave
Nashville at 7 a.m., what is that going to put us in Atlanta? Make sure you give us Eastern
time. Grock broke it down beautifully. So we knew exactly when we would be arriving in Atlanta,
Georgia. He got his two-eg breakfast. He got his coffee.
that morning. He then proceeded to call the hotel and asked him for the exact street names that he would
need to come in on off the interstate when he's getting close to the hotel. He needed to know not only
the exit number, but those street names as well. And Chef is very understandably making this face right now.
I was told Chef that he's a landman. This is the exact quote. I'm a landman and I don't need an app for
maps. If he had it his way, he would get on map quests and print out the directions, like the old
days. And I remember those old days, man. Oh, yeah. And make sure, oh, buddy, if you print in color,
you're done. You just lost printing privileges for a year. You know, you print that in black and
white, Sherman. What are you doing? You can't waste the ink, Sherman. What are you doing?
He also asked the hotel lady just like a fistful of questions.
It was honestly incredible, like a first thing in the morning type phone call to this lady working the lobby.
My son and I are coming into the game.
This is Sherman Senior.
My son is Sherman Jr.
Giving her the whole run down.
He had some great jokes when we came into the lobby.
and I'm now blanking on them.
But he had a one-liner.
I'll try and remember to the guy
working the front desk.
We did stop one time on the way to Georgia.
You could technically tag it as a P-stop,
but more importantly,
windshield had too many bugs.
Got to clean them off.
Windshield had too many bugs.
Did we need gas?
No, we gassed up the night before.
So we didn't need to fill up on gas.
We just need to clean that windshield and a little too many bugs on it.
But it's always good to get a little gas station stop in.
Absolutely.
I look forward to those.
Absolutely.
S do I?
My dad does not at all.
So that stopped for the windshield cleaning.
Like that was,
that needed to happen.
Yeah.
If we're stopping on a road trip on his accord, that needed to happen.
And I was there every step of the way.
He got the windshield spotless.
He had earplugs for both hotel and the game.
They don't make hotel walls like they used to, guys.
They're paper thin, as Papa Shirm will tell you.
So you got to have your earplugs for the hotel.
You also got to have your earplugs for the football game
because they're more interested in playing loud music
than they are actually giving you commentary over the loud speakers.
And then last but not least, the glasses and prescription sunglasses combo.
That, I don't think there's too many things better than a glasses and sunglasses
prescribed sunglasses combo.
And the switching on the shirt was incredible.
I would add his entire attire to that because you sent a picture of a belt that I would love for you to touch on.
The Texas flag golf belt.
Papa Sherms just, he's got a myriad,
fancy word, a myriad of golf belts.
And all of them with beautiful designs on him,
he wanted to wear his Texas flag golf belt
to make sure that the people in Atlanta, Georgia,
knew that Baylor was a Texas team
and that Texas was coming to bring it.
Yeah.
That wasn't just a fair, naturally.
That wasn't just a Baylor game.
That's like we're representing the stay of Texas abroad
and we need to do so accordingly.
They need to know that we're coming correct.
His outfit the next day, Deke,
I wish I had snagged a picture of that.
He came out of his hotel room.
Looked like he was ready to step on the T-box right then and there.
I mean, just full-on golf outfit.
He looked impeccable.
And insisted on driving the whole way home.
Insisted on driving the whole way there.
I very happily let them do it.
All right, PT Sickos.

Let's get back to this episode.
Massive, massive kudos to Popper Shirm for not only filling in
for Jelly Bean on that trip,
but just letting us know, letting us dads know.
This is how it's done.
Did you guys have a few together?
He does not drink.
Oh, he does not drink.
I had a few, though.
So you had, you had yours and you had his.
And I had hit.
I actually did at the hotel.
We got drink tokens.
And I just instantly put my hand out because I'm like,
Papa Shirm don't drink.
That's, let me get my hands on that.
That's easy money, baby.
Especially after failing that two-point conversion.
Yeah.
It was rough.
It was rough.
You guys were in it, though.
We've had our conversations about it.
Yeah, we've talked about it.
I truly, like, I was very much, as we say in our podcast world,
a sad boy that night, but was able to wake up the next morning
and realize like, hey, we're good, we're good.
We're not world beaters, but defense is way better
from what it was last year.
You guys will compete in the Big 12.
Yeah, we'll compete.
You'll compete, man.
Yes, sir.
If you had something?
No, I didn't.
I thought you were chiming in when we were talking about the two-point conversion.
No, I mean, I called Sherm.
I sent Sherman a nice video message.
I mean, that's, I said, hey, basically I told him, I said, I know words won't console you.
Is this, the fact that Sherm, shirm, for all the people, he was texting in like the busting group chat, throwing some good jokes out.
I wouldn't, you wouldn't hear from me from five days if my team lost like that.
I would be genuinely like laying in a curled up position in my bed and I wouldn't I wouldn't talk.
I wouldn't text.
I'd probably not go D&D.
I'd turn my entire phone off.
So kudos to shirm for like, that's a horrible loss to suffer as a fan.
He kind of took it on the chin.
So a lot of a lot of kudos there.
Good father's son weekend.
Humors kind of, I go the humor route when I'm not feeling happy.
That's how I self-sued.
And so.
And a party you could have went into that game thinking you weren't even going to be in that game like that.
There was a hundred percent.
There was a large part of me that like I was happy it wasn't a three touchdown affair.
Yeah.
Like the fact that we were there with less than 10 seconds on the clock, I'll take that.
And won some money because of our good friend Josh Spade on the seven and a half.
Yeah.
I did poorly.
Poorly in the locker room.
That drops on.
Matter of fact, that's going to drop tonight.
As you guys are listening for the dads, we do a sports sports betting show called The Lockroom.
I think I'm down 60% down 60% over the weekend.
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
Can't have my wife here that.
I cannot have my wife here.
Yeah.
Do we want to get into some follow-ups?
Yes, yeah.
Let's get into some follow-ups.
I have one here from Mitch Lons, Lowns on Spotify.
Again, drop comments to, for, for you.
for an opportunity to be featured on the show.
Boys, absolutely love the pod,
but what happened to the Dan Gable quotes?
Mitch ain't lying.
The Matt don't lie, as Dan Gable would say.
The mad don't lie, as Dan Gable would say.
Matt does not lie.
I appreciate that, though, because that's accountability.
We're going to need that at times from our comment section.
I was about to say,
from reading through our comments this morning,
We have a good amount of accountability will in the comments this week.
Here's our first one.
This is, do you remember our friend Ryan Tamales?
You referenced them.
Of course I remember Ryan Tamales.
He referenced them earlier in this episode.
He said people ain't going to be raising my kids.
Ryan Tamales followed up.
He actually de-immed the for the dad's page.
Is that where this is from, Deke?
I looked in the request section and found a nice little DM from a guy who turned out to be Ryan Tamales.
Okay.
We've been in communication with the Tamale.
So is Ryan a potential PT Sicko?
We're about to find out.
I think that the energy has been anti-will across socials in the terms of 51-49 anti-will 51.
Tamales is he's turning some people into the anti-nanny crowd.
That's okay.
Listen, let's you, let's you, let's you ever know what Tamales has to say.
Tomali says, Sherm says to get my ass up there,
but I'd probably just hurt y'all's feelings again.
For real, for real, though.
Of course, the one hater comment I post gets mentioned.
Love the show, boys.
I genuinely think I enjoyed the show more when I don't agree with what you're saying.
It's nice to hear other options.
We replied, holy shit.
It's Ryan Tamalee.
LOL, man, although they became
become bits, we love these comments.
There's a trillion ways to parent and low-key.
There's been a ton of comments and support
of the no nanny stance.
Appreciate you being a good sport.
You rock.
He replied.
Do you like that reply well first off?
Yeah.
Okay.
I don't want you to feel like you're getting attacked
by your own team.
Sherman and I communicated on that.
So I just want to make sure you thought.
No.
Yeah, I'm good with that.
Yeah, yeah.
It's like, hey, dude, people are going to put,
people are going to say crazy shit.
Like, you know.
Yes, sir. The Ryan Tamales.
This is his reply.
I'm a blue-collar boy.
If you don't get insulted at least twice before lunch,
you're fucking up.
Plus, I can't give shit and not take it.
Man, come on.
To be honest, though,
my wife and I were watching together,
dying, laughing when we heard my name,
but then felt bad because Willie Boy looked pressed.
L.O.L.
Thanks for hollering back at me.
That's dope if you guys.
It would also be dope if you could shout my two boys out,
Uriah, who's seven and Tyson Dean,
Tyson Dean, who is one.
L.O.L. and everything will,
Will says about Scotty reminds me of Tyson.
He's a fucking nutcase, literally.
Just today he was watching Bear in the Big Blue House
while sitting on his little kid lazy boy thing
and decided he was going to front.
flip off the chair onto his head, landed straight on his back, just jumped up, made a little
a sound, and kept playing with his toys. L.O.L. Mom called the injury timeout, which pissed him off.
Funniest part was when Willie C. says, I think we have his address. And we don't have your
address, right? We do not, sir. Number one, I can mess with Tyson. I used to rock bear in the big
blue house back in the day. It's a good show, dude. You used to rock bear in the big blue house.
The little otters that would come out of the drains and stuff.
The shadow lady scared the fuck out of me.
Do you remember the shadow lady?
Do you know what I'm talking about where they would cast the stories onto the walls?
Okay.
And that huge like sideways shadow face would come on and be like,
hello, bear.
I have a story for you.
And like all the stories would be shadows.
That I'm talking, I was a little, little dude.
Scared these shit out of me.
But shout out Bear in the Big Blue House.
Shout out Bear in the Big Blue House.
It's really tough.
Clearly the convo goes much differently.
If we know that Ryan Tamales is a watcher or a viewer of the show.
It sounds like him and his wife are.
When you have like just a random comment and there's nothing to go off of and it's, it's anti-something.
And in the pressure of the moment, because when he's like, Will he C. Look Press, it's like in my brain I'm trying to figure out
Which direction do I want to go here?
Because first immediate instinct is if I'm with a Ryan Tamales, or I know exactly who it is,
or I know he is a hater or if he's a fan, whatever it is.
Because it sounds like he understands like all the ball busting, everything else.
Like you haven't been chirped twice since before lunch.
Like you ain't doing nothing right.
Which I'm with.
But first instinct is like you want to do like a walk in the pantry.
Right?
Like busing with the boys type vibe.
When we're doing a dad show, there's so many elements that go on my head because sometimes there's a little bit of a, what's the word?
Kind of like, I don't know if imposter syndrome is the right word, but like, you know you're doing like a dad pod and trying to break down, whether it's our parenting, whether it's thing we've learned, whatever it is.
You know there's so many different ways to parent.
Yes, I feel you.
Growing up in the vibe that it sounds like Ryan Tamales is on or has been on and he has
his preconceived notions, I had that same preconceived thought about people's with Danny.
It was almost like my relationship as far as thinking about how a Nani operates is so much
different now being apparent and having one before I had one because we alluded to it last week,
but we were kind of not forced.
We chose to go in that direction because of something that very, very,
badly that happened with the daycare that Rue was in. And so we went down that road on having a
nanny. And then you learned, like, I ended up wrapping it around my brain, like once we were
activating with the nanny, when the nanny would come over and child care would come over to where
I don't know how every parent feels that are out there that could be listening to this. And if I go,
if I go pantry talk, if I go, if I go contention with tamales, or I'm having fun or I come off like an
asshole or I start talking like, okay, whether it's, hey, buddy, make more money or something like
that. I'm, that's like in my brain as I'm trying to break that down, if I'm a viewer that could be
seeing it's like, oh, damn, Will seems kind of a douchebag right now talking about how he has a nanny
and all these other things and he's kind of going after this Ryan Tamale's kid who says he's
anti-nanny and I'm kind of that way too because I don't really know about that world or I don't really
know about child care or maybe I'm not even a parent yet. So to speak to him on Will felt,
Will felt press. It's like, I'm sitting there's like, how should I respond to this? Because there is,
I always feel a little bit of an insecurity kind of talking about that because I know like we're in a
spot where we've worked our ass off to be in the spot to have options like that. Not a lot of people
have those options. Whether it's they don't have those options. Now they don't have those options yet.
Maybe they feel like they won't ever have those options. So I don't want to come after somebody
or there could be viewers out there that feel like they might not ever have that option. And then I come off
like a douchebag or an asshole because I'm trying to have fun and bust balls back and forth.
We could do the pantry walk, but that lives more, that would live more in like the social media
realm versus sitting on a dad podcast, talking about dad life.
Having somebody come in that I didn't know was somebody who views all the time, this could
have been like Phoenix early in the year or like last year, where I don't know if this is a cat
that just tuned in for the first time, said that and they're not a supporter, they're not
anything else.
So do you give that that much time of day?
Do you try to answer it as well as you can and articulate it as?
well as you can on how it's beneficial.
So that's kind of where I was, Ryan Tamales, in my brain when I'm thinking, how do I go
about this?
Because parenting topics are all just fucking sensitive.
They're all the time.
I feel like we've done a great job with our community.
We've done a great job on this show.
But any conversation or pocket you're in out in the wild where you're around parents that
you might not jive with, you just, I don't know, you feel a lot of sensitivity.
Any clips I come across that go viral that I love and people.
parenting and content. And then you might go in some comment sections and just see people bitch about stuff.
And I don't know. It's all about coming off perfect as a parent. And we know that that's just never the
case at all. So in a button like a nanny or somebody having a nanny. And I know that I am one that has a nanny.
There was almost that all of those feelings were kind of taking place and happening. As I'm like,
okay, how do I go about talking about this? Like, is he just hating? Is he busting balls? Is he
To highlight those two worlds that you very much live in, I produce on that show, but I, like, you are a talent on Bussin.
You're also like a forward face on an ESPN show that has a segment that reads hater comments on it.
You know, like you're in that world.
And to highlight the difference of those two.
And I like, I think about this every now and then.
when I first started at Bussin, a guy DM me.
And it was one of my very first DMs about just anything Bussin.
And he was like, bro, you need to shut the fuck up on the bus.
You are annoying as fuck.
It ruins the show.
And your laugh, annoying as fuck, dude.
Like put your mic on mute.
Long book.
Book.
It wasn't like four sentences.
And I read that message.
And I was like, I'm not going to let that get to me.
I'm going to keep doing me.
I was very new to all this.
Yeah.
And it seemed like you guys wanted me talking and you enjoyed me talking.
So I really tried not to second guess it.
We started for the dads.
And maybe like 20 episodes in, I get a DM.
And before I even read his DM, I see it's the same guy that sent me that book about not talking.
He was like, sure.
since listening for the dads, I've gotten to know your heart a little bit and just want to let you know, I think you're an incredible person.
I think you're awesome.
I'm so sorry about the things I said about you because he was saying some other stuff that was like a bit out of pocket.
That comes from being in the bus and world.
You know what I'm saying.
And I'm really glad I didn't reply to it because it made me look good of just like all that stuff he said.
And then he just talked about like, hey, I have a ton of respect for you.
is like a fellow dad.
And I think you're doing a great job.
I think you're killing it.
I just want to let you know,
big fan of the podcast.
And it's funny of just how sensitive
the topic is
of parenting
that it can cause somebody
to have a complete 180 on me
of like,
I couldn't get any less of this dude.
Like get him out of here to,
hey, you know,
by respect,
like you're a dad.
And like,
I get it and we're in the trenches together.
Does that make sense?
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's,
it's a bizarre world at times.
This one and this platform that we have for the dads feels like a newer,
it's like a newer thing for me.
Obviously,
we've been doing it for a year.
But my comfort and everything else with Bustin now versus here.
Because again,
it's like, dude,
we have a dad podcast.
Whereas anybody who doesn't tune in and can kind of hear about us or listen to
us, kind of have all of our obnoxious.
jokes and bits that we enjoy with our audience.
Yes.
That they know all of the inside game.
But if somebody on the outside, he doesn't know anything about it, could come on.
What are these dudes doing with a parenting podcast?
Like parenting, we've had comments like the parenting's not that hard.
Why are they got to make it seem like rocket science?
Or a dad show.
It's like, oh, let me talk about how good of a dad I am.
Like, I've heard those comments before.
And it's like, you got to eat them because they don't know.
They don't know.
They don't know what we do on this show.
clearly they don't tap in and listen all the time.
It's also a part of us why we say,
hey, we are not experts.
This is not an expert show whatsoever.
Yeah.
This is just a couple dads talking ball that want to build the community
with other fellow dads who write in all the time.
And we get to know each other very,
we get to know each other very well to the point to where we have Evie the brave.
Everybody knows Evie.
Evie is a gal or a child,
a daughter that got a tumor taken out of her back.
and her dad has been keeping us updated
and he had another right in an update for us.
But it's like a level of a relationship like this
that we have with the audience
that this is what we were wanting to do.
So it's kind of, it's hard to compartmentalize all the time
because we're in a world where we live on our phones now.
So a lot of shit can affect us.
Everybody knows all the science of dopamine
and everything else to where we are glued to our phones
as human beings a lot.
So we get a lot of our own, whether it's our own value
and whether we want to admit it or not,
it's like we place our value
of what could come, what we're reading and seeing on that phone about ourselves for ourselves.
And it's like a constant battle, like for me as an adult with a media brand to like nowhere, hey,
Will, this is where I have to draw the line in my brain right now.
This is where you can't allow yourself to go down.
You can't allow yourself to go down this road because, dude, too much of it.
It just consumes you.
And then it affects you.
Yeah.
But we have an update from Evie the Brave's dad, from Evie's dad.
Dylan Payne.
Evie the Brave times for the dads help take cancer to the curb.
Good morning, gang.
Being that September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month,
Evie the Brave has requested to trade in all of her free shoutouts
and all of her free olipop run the tape.
And in return, she would ask to use your platform to raise awareness
as well as donations to help all the tiny warriors and future sickos like herself,
as well as their families as they face the hardest time of their lives.
If this is something you'd be interested in,
I plan to create a virtual fundraiser through ALSF.
That's Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.
And we'll provide a link that will take you straight to the donation page for our specific community.
Sorry, I will get through this.
We are open to any and all ideas.
And if you decide to jump on board,
you can do as little or as much as you deem appropriate.
The people that listen to this podcast genuinely care about the community and nothing
showed me that more than how much love and positivity my family personally has received after you
picked up Everly's story. Dad's against cancer, gong rips for Evie, cancer to the curb,
let's do something that could help future PT6 and MT-Sixers. What an awesome opportunity.
There's an awesome opportunity that we get to be associated with that.
dude, truly.
And everything that we were just talking about before reading that.
Yeah,
kind of embodied all in one message of
everything from being supportive of like childhood cancer awareness.
Us accidentally talking about bong rips instead of gong rips inside of,
you know,
the initial like video of her.
Hit the bong.
Hit the bong.
Hit the dong.
Hit the dong.
And,
and her.
dad, like playing into that in the, you know, with the gong rips comment that embodied a lot of what this
podcast is, which is really cool. And it sounds like we're going to be having the link in our
description. Yeah, for everyone listening, we reached back out to Dylan, said send us the link.
I said the best thing we can, or the easiest thing we can do, we'll share that out,
we'll put it on our socials and have something. And then we are actively working with our team at
bus in here and for the ads and Dylan to try to find something else we can do. But we will
share that link out for everyone. So support if you can. I love that. Massive. You got to do
something. Absolutely massive. I have a follow up here too from a gentleman named Nick Hallett.
My thoughts on the nanny topic. One, in Ryan Tamale's defense,
podcasting is not a real job. So Will should be able to accommodate watching them at all times.
B. Since podcasting is not a real job, several members of the bus and team have children.
And this is a fatherhood podcast. Why isn't the child care included in the compensation or benefits of all employees?
There should be on-site child care at the studio called Daddy Daycare.
Thank you for writing in Nick.
Thank you, Nick, Alec. Happy belated birthday.
That's it.
That right there.
That's why he was my best man.
It's a great idea, Nick.
Some great ideas there.
We appreciate you writing in.
The best was him texting me when he put that comment in.
He said,
yo,
go check what I put on Spotify.
Hey,
I don't know if you got time right now.
Go check on my Spotify comment.
I felt like I was in middle school again
when like your boy put some comment underneath the
thing and you're texting.
You're like, dude, I can't believe you put that.
Kaylee Allen, 21, writes in.
Biden follow-up.
When my son was in daycare and he got bit,
the first thing my husband would ask is,
what diseases does the kid have?
Whether it broke skin or not,
he would literally call the director and ask
if we should be worried.
Meanwhile, I'm over there like,
bud, that sucks. I'm sorry that happened.
And my husband goes straight on a war path.
L-O-L.
L-O-L from Kaley Allen, 21.
Chase B also writes in,
I'm here to stand on business for Will.
Okay.
Oh, there we go.
So I stand on business for me.
Let's wait.
Let's wait.
Who knows what this is going to go.
I can't remember how the rest of this goes,
but I think that's a smart decision.
Let's see, though.
Chase continues to say,
I work hard in the construction world,
and I also own my own business.
I do this because my wife and I
cannot afford a nanny.
I can tell that if tomorrow,
I can tell you that if tomorrow
I was in Willie One Shelf's spot,
I would have a nanny
and rib sweet Euro vacations.
Don't hate the game,
work harder, hashtag,
pop a team hustle.
Okay, so he's...
Shout out Chase.
Yeah, shout out Chase.
Man, thank you, bro.
Last one for me is Spencer,
H-50.
Spencer H. 52.
Gotta admit that Will has lost his fastball.
Damn it.
When's the last time he took someone to the pantry or on a walk?
It's full circle.
It's full circle.
Like a circle.
And he's not wrong.
He said soft hands for sure.
God.
He's not wrong because there are times wrong.
Man, I've really done one of them videos in a long time.
The last one might have been Ian Rappaport.
which was last year.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
When you kind of cuck this on George Kittle,
like breaking these George Kittle signs and extension.
I forgot about that too.
Because I lead off with the video,
like I haven't done this in a while.
So I've probably only done one in the last couple years.
And so my man is right.
I've kind of fell out of my game.
I already know what the comments are going to say with what I'm about to say.
Oh, Sherman. He's always, oh, Will, it's not that bad.
It's going to be okay.
But this is what I actually.
think.
Okay.
We'll be hard on Will if you want to be soft on.
Yes.
There we go.
That's good.
The scariest coaches growing up were the ones that didn't yell the most for me.
They were the ones that when you got yelled at by that coach, you knew you fucked up.
Those were the scariest coaches for me.
So the fact that the time between walks has increased, it almost emphasizes the punch of the walk or going
to the pantry. It makes it that much more of this is a thing.
So you're saying there's a lot of expectation on the next one that takes place.
Yeah. And so I guess I'm not going completely soft on you. There's a little bit of a challenge
there as well. But it puts some gravity and weight to it. I think when people expect a certain
thing from you and they haven't seen it in like two or three weeks or so, for example here.
and then it comes, we're all really excited, like chef's burritos.
We hadn't seen them, and we weren't sure if chef still had his fastball,
and he came through with the burritos.
And in that way, I do believe you so have a fastball.
But I will also say, I think you need to work on your finesse game, maybe?
Because you finesse shit on people now.
It's not necessarily a fastball.
You're getting old.
People lose their fastball.
Aaron Rodgers can't just spin it down the middle.
He's got a finesse shit talking, and I do want to give credit to that, too.
I didn't really go too hard on you, but you know what I mean?
Okay.
Do you want to...
Shout out chef's burrito.
Shout out chest burrito.
I do have one here from Hunter Greco.
Had sex before marriage.
Now we have a two-year-old, shoot me.
Yeah.
Hunter!
Yeah.
If that's not a typo, he did not mean to say sue me.
He did type out, shoot me, I believe.
I wish chef cared about these burritos the same way he cares about his turkey.
Oh.
Buddy, go ahead, chef, go ahead.
No, it's fine.
And at the end of the day, maybe I care about the turkey more.
That's why I made 20 for the whole crew.
Came in here.
Steak, bacon, sausage, three different combos of protein.
Went all out.
Started prepping last night.
Cook for three hours last night.
Came in this morning.
Was late, started the production late because they weren't warm enough.
How to throw them in the oven.
Because we can't accept anything better than was tip top.
But yeah, you know, fuck me.
me. But yeah. Yeah. What was he said? You would have been on time. I would have been on time if I,
if I didn't throw them back in the oven. I didn't realize how pressed we were. And if you just
thought about the, the team that you're doing it for. Yeah. Yeah. You talk to a lot of your buddies.
Co-workers. Yeah. I wanted everyone to enjoy. And I've gotten a couple texts from the guys on the
other side. Seems like everyone enjoyed it. Good. Because the steak is they are good burritos.
It's phenomenal. I saw you ate both.
then that made me happy.
I was like,
that's usually a good sign.
The whole whole time I'm like,
if,
if good greatness is the aoli,
yeah,
and even you just get a community sauce or something.
There is,
there is so many things I'd want to do differently.
Like next time I try these out,
I was like,
when I was driving here and you called me,
you're like,
you got to get a move on.
I'm like,
I hope he fucking likes these
or else it's going to be bad.
But I thought definitely aioly.
There's a couple things.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I have some dad wins and losses.
You want to do dad wins and losses really quick?
Yes.
Hey, by the way, big dad went over the weekend again,
Wifee and the family was out.
So when I landed on late Saturday night,
coming home to an empty house,
sitting down watching UCLA and Cal,
eating two bowls of cereal at around midnight or 1230,
going to bed by yourself,
love my wife, love laying next to my wife,
love my kids, love when my kids are in the house.
But having that solo.
time. Holy shit, bro. And apologies, it's new. It's new dads, Will. I think you'll like this new
dad comment you have. But I just want to thought that's a personal dad win. Solo time is pretty
incredible. And then like you, I slept in Sunday, got a little sweat and came to the shop.
I'll spread the shop for like seven hours just watching ball and watching tape from Saturday.
Yeah. And it's just like no.
pressure of I need to go get back home. I need to go do this. I need to go do that. Because
the wife and the kids are out in Maine. They're having a great time. They were on the beach of
calm water. Wife sent me photos. She sent me videos. Roos trying to hula hoop. Scotty's just
holding the huluop. God. But a good vibe. Good dad went over the weekend. This is from Trevor
Sidel via email again for the dads at gmail.com. Hey boys, this is Trevor Sidel from northern Iowa.
tease and peace to you. On September 4th, my wife and I welcomed our identical boys into the world.
Firstly, I want to give a huge shout out to my wife, Natalie, for being so brave and for growing these two miracles.
She is a trooper getting up and moving around just hours after her C-section.
She has been truly amazing for these boys. It really makes a man appreciate what the woman body can do.
I also want to thank you, boys, for all your guidance and encouragement through your words and this community you've built.
I am so grateful for you, boys, sharing stories, laugh.
and many memories.
This part is for Will.
Just another.
We just got another.
I've been thinking about your PT piss journey a lot and where the issue stem from.
I think a lot of this has to do with diet and your past.
Will eating all the subpart Nebraska corn really did a number on your situation.
You motherfucker, dude.
Not to mention you then bought into the Nebraska football team.
That was mistake number two.
Here in Iowa, we not only have the superior corn,
but we also own the Nebraska football team.
Damn it.
Hopefully you have time to think about this over
and maybe take a field trip to the superior land.
I think this could help you tremendously.
Go Hawks.
First they're sweet, then they're sour, dude.
That was well done.
He got me too.
I read it in the pre-pro when I was doing the pre-pro reading.
Yeah.
I got to the second paragraph.
I started ballet laughing.
Yeah, that's funny.
Like, that's well done.
And they do own us right now.
Oh.
I know.
I know.
I know.
Do I think they will at the end of the year?
I don't know.
They seem to,
they put a 40 on somebody.
The brass and prete football team this year.
Can I, can I press pause?
And not actually press pause.
Not actually press pause.
But can I,

On the new podcast Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman.
I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle.
I chose option B.
I'm Julie Pinero.
and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes
without asking anyone else first.
I'm on a mission to reclaim the word solita,
trading the pity for possibility.
Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meeting people,
and they were like, you smiled at us.
Not a lot of people smile around here.
It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is
and not the lies you're sold about it.
It can be a time where you push your limits, change your mind,

So whether you're a solo travel veteran

I hope you listen to Solita on the IHeart Radio app,

The new NFL season is here,
and you should be listening to NFL Daily
as we march along to Super Bowl 61.
Last year, we had Mike McDonald,
Sam Darnold on the field after the game.
But that was last year.
If you're a football sicko like me, NFL Daily is your kind of show.
It is in the name NFL Daily, fresh content in your feed every day all season long.
Matthew Stafford coming off his MVP.
On a dazzling darts from Matthew Stafford.
Big time trades that shake up the NFL.
H.E. Brown is loose.
And of course, those Seahawks trying to run it back and win another Lombardi trophy.
The Seahawks win.
Super Bowl 60.
They are bringing the Lombardi back to the Northwest.
If it's happening on a football field, NFL Daily will cover it.
Listen to NFL Daily on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
That call was really pivotal for me.
Hey, it's Emily Tish Sussman, and this season on She Pivots,
the podcast where women share bold career moves and personal turning points that changed everything.
I sit down with culture-shifting women who should.
share their pivots like Paraly Olympian Alley Truitt.
I was like, I'm a month out from a shark attack.
There's no way in 11 months I'm making the Paralympics.
Advocate Elizabeth Smart.
I still feel that drive that I can still make a difference, so I'm going to keep going.
Celebrity chef, Carla Hall.
Was that scary to walk away from such a stable career after just two years?
No.
I was more afraid of being unhappy than I was broke in a dead end job that I didn't enjoy.
And feminist legend, Gloria Steinem.
All of us were trying.
trying to express women's real lives.
We need a meeting place of our own.
And if I can contribute to that, I'd like to maintain that and leave this house for that purpose.
Listen to She Pivotts on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Press pause.
Do we want and or slash need a metaphorical hug on this podcast?
Who are you asking?
Because sometimes the shit does get to you.
How's my boy doing?
I'm doing good, man.
Okay, good.
I'm doing solid.
I'll tell you what?
When it comes to Papa Team Fit,
dialed the fuck in.
Truly.
Morning workouts?
Morning evening?
Really?
Not every day,
but yeah,
because I'm trying to do the zone two
and split it up in the five days of 30 minutes.
Yeah, yeah.
So like yesterday is a good example.
In the morning,
I hit shoulders and chest.
It sounded like a PT Fido right there.
Shoulders and chest.
But then in the evening,
when SMU Florida State was on,
I went out on the treadmill in the evening.
And I've been dialed for probably the last two and a half,
two and a half-ish weeks in between two and three weeks.
Dial, bro.
I'm down six pounds.
Let's go.
Yeah, man.
That's huge.
Yeah.
Okay, good.
So I am doing well.
I want to make sure that you are doing well.
Because as we read these comments, like, do I wish why people would put a bow on it every now and then?
Yes.
I'm like, Will's getting it from left and right.
I hope he's legitimately okay, because I know he's got stressful weeks ahead with the CFB stuff.
Yeah.
If there's anything that weighs on it the most, it's, it's all, it's preparation.
Yeah, for sure.
It's one to be right.
It's wanting to be ready to go.
It's like taking this role not very seriously to where it's like,
not to like lose my authenticity or anything else,
but I want to do a good job.
Yeah, you wouldn't take it seriously as like
showing that you're putting forth effort
and that you're giving a good product.
And I feel those good nerves throughout the week,
especially when we were getting out to do our first bus and paid on campus show.
Like the nerves going into it and it's like, sure,
should I sit and continue to look over my notes and write stuff down?
And I was like, dude, fuck it.
Like, yeah, like that's how I was in football when I played football.
Like I always studied all the way up to basically
before we got fully strapped up and ready to go in the locker room.
always thinking about every situation.
And I'm like getting to do that with this.
Yeah.
With being more in college football,
with being a piece of ESPN in their college football universe.
But I think about that.
That's like, yeah,
I think about the football and the performance aspect
around the clock.
Yeah.
Because it's a big opportunity, man.
Like they didn't have to give us a pod.
It's not even a pod.
They didn't have to give us a show.
Yeah.
Like, paid is incredible.
Like paid somebody.
even go on any of them. He's somebody you can envision on game day one day. And I'm not like
down playing Taylor myself, but I just think like they're allowing a podcaster to come and do a show.
Give us the keys to the creative direction. Not like fit in on a show that currently exists.
Like, no, we want you three because you guys have so much fun on the locker room on college football.
We want that, but you guys put into a show format in college football with a live, with a live team,
a live audience with live production. We're going to give you our production crew. But it's your
guys's ideas at your guys's show.
And I feel like it's a massive opportunity because you're working with Mickey Mouse.
You're working with Disney and ESPN.
It's like, they mean, they don't have to do that.
And it's like, dude, that is, uh, it's just an incredible opportunity.
I actually, I, that goes very well with my, um, lesson of the week.
If we want to go out of order.
Like, it's the lesson of the week.
It almost hits on that exactly.
I talked about this in our pre-production meeting for last week, I believe.
I got you.
I talked about this in our pre-production.
I get a Lucy.
Yeah.
Talked about this topic in our pre-production meeting, I think, two weeks ago.
Did a little extra homework on it.
And I think that I have it whittled.
down a bit better from my delivery of two weeks ago.
But Will, I think this might resonate with you,
specifically with the opportunity that you have on ESPN,
because this was a great reminder for myself with my family and my life at home
and the opportunity that I have been given here.
It's like a very good optics reset for me.
So the theme is earning it and what it means to earn it.
And when I played this for the guys in the office,
I played the scene from saving Private Ryan
when Captain Miller at the end,
Tom Hanks' character, says to Private Ryan,
to earn this, to earn it.
And he's talking about to earn the sacrifice that those troops made in order to save Private Ryan's life and get him sent home to his family.
So his mom and dad could have at least one son survive World War II.
Captain Miller says to Private Ryan to earn it.
Private Ryan says at Captain Miller's grave at the end of the film that he has lived a good life.
and that he hopes that alone was enough to earn the life that was afforded to him.
In that scene, it shows the image that every man most likely will struggle with at one point or another,
asking themselves, am I good enough? Have I done enough?
The visual metaphor that's being displayed to the audience in that final shot of Private Ryan,
leaning down to Captain Miller's grave,
is Ryan is fighting with his own thoughts of did I have a good life while his family is physically seen behind him.
Two generations, kids and grandkids, they're all standing there lovingly and proud of their grandfather.
If Private Ryan could just release his own doubts and turn around and see the fruits of his life well lived, his family,
he would know certainly that he has indeed earned it, the opportunity.
Private Ryan's final line in the film is he actually turns to his wife and he softly pleads with her and he says,
please tell me I have led a good life.
Tell me I'm a good man.
The lesson of earning it is not only putting in the work,
but being able to look back and see what you've accomplished so that your own self can realize that you have earned the life that you've worked so hard to obtain.
you've worked so hard to afford the life that you provide to your loved ones and you have earned it.
And if you ever find yourself asking, did I earn this? What a great place to be.
In that moment, challenge yourself to look on your wins, count those daily grinds, the weekly sacrifices, and yearly commitments as well as lifelong achievements.
And realize that what's been presented to you that's causing you to ask yourself, did I,
earned this. It was truly earned. But you got to keep going and keep earning it every single day.
Well said, man. Thank you. What had you come across that?
What had you being intentional about that message? Oh, I was challenged of like earning it.
Like what that definition meant to me by a life coach. And she essentially was just,
It's like she thought my interpretation of earning it was warped.
And she asked me to challenge myself on defining what earning it meant to me.
And was just basically like, you know, ask yourself that for over the following week.
Just defining that.
And then I've always loved the movie Saving Private Ryan.
That's been one of my favorite films for a really long time.
And so I remembered that line, obviously, since it's, you know, one of the more famous lines from the film.
And I was like, well, I'll just, I'll study that scene and see what I can, like, pull from it.
And it breaks your heart seeing that old man stand over the gravestone with this family behind them.
Because you're like, dude, you did earn it.
Like, look at your, like, awesome family that's there.
And, like, your loving wife, she loves you.
and like you have these beautiful grandkids and any of those men that sacrifice themselves
would be so happy to see where you are in life now.
Like nobody's seeing there counting whether you earned it or not.
And so for me it was just kind of looking back on past things that I've done both professionally
and as well as like just the building of my family and life decisions of one
to be a better man, wanting to be a better husband, wanting to be a better father, and being
able to look back on those improvements. And looking back on my fails, too, that I've learned from
and being able to be like, yeah, man, like I've earned where I'm at right now. I got to keep
doing it. Like, I got to keep fighting. But I got to be able to kind of lift that veil and see
the good things that I've been able to do.
Because as you know from private conversations
with you and I,
the negative thought tapes run heavy in my mind.
To have it a moment to be proud of yourself.
Yes, yes.
Would you be uncomfortable sharing
what your warped version of earning it was?
And it's okay if so.
Honestly, just like refusing being a great question.
And again, just for context, I'm more so prefacing because I feel like a lot of parents, dads, like people who sit with their own thoughts like this and never articulate what's going on in their mind.
You could hear something like that.
Like he had a warped version of what's earning it.
I wonder what he meant by that.
Great question.
And I would say that my warped version of it is I am extremely against the idea of myself accepting a handout.
or accepting a gift that I wasn't deserved and being given an opportunity that I didn't deserve
or getting something, somebody getting something because of their name, because of their
family's legacy, because of their blank.
Like, I'm very against that.
I'm very fearful that any type of success or any type of thing that was afforded to me.
me was like just kind of gifted to me like that my wife like does these things around the house
for me that like I don't deserve that like I didn't do anything to deserve that I'm just like
getting handouts from my wife when I fall short or like Willie C and Taylor reaching out to me
you know when I'm freelance directing and Fort Worth and like I felt like I had nothing on my
resume that was worth you guys like taking a chance on me.
But like looking back retrospectively, it's like, hey, Will and Taylor did give you a
huge opportunity and Jill does give you gifts every single day that like aren't deserving,
but you also are putting forth like work and effort and grinding.
Like you're you're not sitting around on your ass and like sitting on your hands and just like,
oh, who's going to help me next?
somebody come save me.
So yeah, I think that
to me it was like
you couldn't earn it if you had
help from anyone.
That's not earning it.
Like you didn't do that.
You had some help from somebody.
Oh yeah, Sherman's getting to co-hosts on a
podcast and said, well, yeah, it works at Busset.
Those guys are huge.
Like it's Will's show and like Sherman's just kind of on there
with a mic in front of it.
like just that like not like I felt like I hadn't earned anything in my life if that made sense.
Yeah. It almost feels like you find a way to kind of sabotage yourself for having something.
Also that. Also that of like, yeah. And that was the whole point of to my life coach point is like you can't earn it until you accept it.
like there is no earning of anything until until you accept it.
You got to accept it or else it's never earned.
Then it's just you're on a war path of just,
and nothing's good enough.
Nothing, you know, will satiate your drive and hunger.
So, yeah.
Appreciate you sharing that.
Thank you.
Yes.
Thank you for sharing that, my friend.
Thanks for having me.
Thank you, Private Ryan.
I have a dad hack last week.
I opened with the question of activities for kids to do while you're working out.
And I do have a dad hack.
Kids in garage and this comes from Ben Sims.
Oh, yeah.
Hey, boys, Ben here from Michigan, go green.
I am the dad of a beautiful four-month-old girl, Lenora.
I have a dad hack in response to Will's request for activities that kids can do while he is working out.
Depending on the equipment you're working with, you can add,
jungle gym, you can add a jungle gym and playground pieces to the equipment.
Most of this would be do it yourself.
Sorry, Willie One Shelf.
Well, okay then.
If that's sorry, Willie One Shelf, I need you to give me something, Ben, that I'm going to be able to do.
Yeah, Ben, come on, man.
Examples might include a swing attached to the squat rack.
All you need is chains, a board, and some bolts to connect them.
A climbing board, plywood with wooden pegs and dowels attached.
Is it dowels?
Yeah.
Okay.
And an old mattress for the kids to jump on and off of.
They're also, they also can teach.
These also, you know what?
I misread that.
These also can teach the kids that the gym and exercise is fun
and it helps us all feel better about each other and ourselves.
Love you boys and best of luck with BT fit.
Ben.
P.S. I have a bonus that hack inspired by your mention of children with disabilities the other week.
As part of my job, I have the privilege of working with individuals.
who have disabilities, some of whom are children.
While most of us are able to go online and on social media to receive care tips for our children,
parents of kids with disabilities don't always have the same level of information sharing available.
Care Circle is a free app for parents of children with disabilities to share care tips and tricks,
parentheses, dad hacks, stories, dad wins and losses, and support each other in the context of kids with disabilities.
Thank you for that.
Thank you for the PS, Ben.
The only thing I take from that is the mattress.
I think the mattress is a good little vibe.
It's a big vibe.
You throw a mattress on the ground and let him jump around and go on and off.
Because Scottie,
little Scotty,
she loves getting on like the boxes that I have.
Yeah.
And I'm back, sweetheart, we can't.
You just can't be doing that.
She loves hanging on like the dip bar.
Yes.
It's low enough for her to just hang on to.
She's got a bit of a grip on her.
We've been doing that.
But the swing is like,
who's going to have a swing on a squat rack?
I'm using the squat rack.
And also who's building the swing?
Who's building that shit?
Who's building the swing on the squad right?
I know it's time to do my set.
How long are you going to take swinging?
I got to go.
It's been three minutes.
I'm PR in the day.
How long are you using that machine, Scotty?
Yeah, I, I, Scarlett's been doing the little gym stuff.
So the mattress to me sounds a whole lot like those math.
that they have in Scarlett just she's climbing all over those things.
I mean, that would have her attention for easy 10 minutes.
This comes from Cole Sauber.
This is a dad hack.
They don't make those anymore.
It's the title of the email.
Cole says, what up boys?
Cole, 30-year-old father to two-year-old daughter, six-month-old son,
and the wife has one in the oven, ETA, April 27.
At this rate, she's getting that damn minivan.
Come on, ma.
I have a dad hack that's worked flawlessly,
so I have to share.
Get in the habit of telling your kids,
they don't make those anymore.
When they're asking for something you don't want to give them,
when they're asking for something you don't want to give them,
or it's time to be done with,
they're asking for their third granola.
For the day and R.A. Rewid lunch.
They don't make those anymore.
Bro, that's so funny, dude.
Asking for a passie while you're trying to wean them off.
Oh, man, they don't make those anymore.
They're wanting a diaper while you're trying to body train them.
Oh, man, they actually don't make those anymore.
Works every time and there's nothing better than it being someone else's fault.
Love the pod.
It's offered priceless advice and helped me feel less alone in my journey of becoming a not just father but dad.
Don't forget to take out the trash.
Cole Sober.
Dude, that's a good one.
That's a good one.
That's genius.
It don't make those anymore.
I needed that yesterday.
Oh, shoot.
I don't think they make those anymore.
I needed that yesterday.
The kids wanted Scotty Hussein bilk.
That's milk.
Ruse wanting milk.
I'm telling them no.
Because it's about 520.
Dinner's going to be around 6 o'clock.
And we already, I speak about it.
I speak about it at volume on this show,
but we're always waiting on the kids to eat their food.
Always waiting on the kids to eat their food.
Sometimes, yeah, we get lucky every now and then.
They might go clean play club,
and they might just be eating out of the gate.
And I can't even think of a time when that's happened.
But it's always you're having to play games.
You're having to do tickle monster.
You're having to do, okay, yesterday we had to turn into clapping.
All right, Rue goes, yay, Roo, it took a huge bite.
Scott, are you going to take a big ball?
bite the one-upper?
It's got to go, yay, but it's always a, it's always a circus.
Yes.
But going back to the milk, Scotty, bulk, bulk, bulk, bulk.
I'm like, dude, we're not getting milk.
We got dinner coming up.
Scotty starts crying.
She starts breaking down.
I'm talking, drops to her knees, stomach to the floor,
facing the ground, crying.
Because she wants bulk.
She wants bulk.
And Rue wants milk and I'm like, sweetheart.
No, no, don't do this.
Like dinner, dinner is going to be coming.
And don't just start crying because Scotty's crying.
She starts crying.
She's an empath.
Yeah.
They're both crying.
It's just me and them in the living room.
And I had just gotten, gotten home from picking them up at the airport.
And I'm just like, oh, my God, trying to find, like, oh, Scotty, look at this.
She's like, stop.
Stop.
Like, okay.
Okay, okay, no toy.
And she's like, stop.
I'm like, okay, I won't look at you.
Dad, I won't look at you.
This is all because of bulk.
This is all because of bulk.
She hasn't gotten.
She's still belly down on the floor.
I'm like trying to get down on the ground with her and start crawling.
I'm like, oh, oh, oh, stop.
Stop.
Put her hand out.
Then when she puts her hands out, I pretend she's like Darth Vader and I start going.
Just to try to get her out of being upset.
She wouldn't.
She was upset.
Rue as she's crying.
And I'm, I've already explained to Rue why it's not happening.
She walks back to the office where mom is.
And I'm starting to feel.
Scottie's louder.
Roo's back there talking to mom.
I hear Rue kind of crying.
Uh-oh.
And Charles was like, why can't they have milk?
And I'm like, because dinner's going to be coming up.
We need them to eat their food, bro.
She's trying to get work done because she just got back from, you know, they left Friday
morning.
Yeah.
So she's trying to get back in the mode, catch up on a couple things.
Catch up on some work-related stuff.
She said, why don't you just give a milk, just a little bit of milk?
And they're just in the poutiest mood.
Go over, get the milk.
Toss got out of your milk on the ground.
Rousal and laying on the couch, I'm like, you can go get your milk in the pantry.
I'm not bringing it to you.
Just tight, bro.
And then I'm boiling in my mind.
I'm like, sweetheart.
You got to have my back.
Yeah.
But she's probably just trying to get some stuff done.
there's too many noises going on, everything else.
She's just like, why don't you just give them a little bit of milk?
Yeah.
But to me, in those moments, those are the moments.
Roos gonna know she can just cry and come to you, me or you,
and then get what she wants?
Not in my house.
Not in my house, baby.
But it was in my house.
I don't even know.
I really don't even know how we got to this story,
but I love this story so much.
Because what I may say they don't make it anymore.
They don't make those anymore.
That's what it was.
what it was. You didn't need that. I needed that yesterday. They don't make milk anymore. They don't make milk anymore. I don't know what happened. What? Cows don't make milk anymore. I swear to God. I swear to God. Also, we, I think I came up with the million dollar app idea. An app that when your kid gets old enough to start questioning if they don't make it anymore, hand them, you open up the app and it looks like a search engine and you hand it to it and you say, hey, you search it up. Ask them if.
if they make milk anymore.
And the answer is always, no, they do not make blank anymore.
And it's all just AI that it just agrees every single time.
It says, no, they don't make that anymore.
You're sitting on a gold mine.
You're sitting on a gold mine, son.
Thank you.
Can I have a tester straddle that?
No, they don't make it anymore.
You know what I'm talking for you.
Look it up.
I swear to God.
They don't make it anymore.
You can make a gold mine.
Those fake news stories and it just put like blah blah, blah recalled.
Like milk is recalled nationwide.
See?
Those are shrewd recalls over 50,000 units and they're not going to make it anymore.
You could also just type in an image of the word no.
I'm like, hey, I just search it on my phone.
This is an app.
This is an app.
We got to download it.
Mom and dad make love anymore.
No.
No, that don't make that anymore.
Apps been out for a year, seven reviews, two star rating.
One of the ratings is five stars.
It's Willie C.
It just says,
Goldbide.
Oh,
I didn't I think it is.
They need this shit for years.

On the new podcast Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman.
I can wait four hours for the next bus or.
this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle. I chose option B.
I'm Julie Pinero, and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes
without asking anyone else first. I'm on a mission to reclaim the word solita, trading the pity
for possibility. Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meeting people, and they were like,
you smiled at us. Not a lot of people smile around here.
It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is.
is and not the lies you're sold about it.
It can be a time where you push your limits, change your mind,
or wake up to a new version of yourself.
So whether you're a solo travel veteran
or you're too nervous to book your first trip,
I hope you listen to Solita on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
That call was really pivotal for me.
Hey, it's Emily Tish Sussman,
and this season on She Pivots,

There's no way in 11 months I'm making the Paralympics.
Advocate Elizabeth Smart.
I still feel that drive that I can still make a difference,
so I'm going to keep going.
Celebrity chef, Carla Hall.
Was that scary to walk away from such a stable career
after just two years?
No.
I was more afraid of being unhappy than I was broke
in a dead end job that I didn't enjoy.
And feminist legend Gloria Steinem.
All of us were trying to express women's real lives.
We need a meeting place of our own.
And if I can contribute to that, I'd like to maintain that
and leave this house for that purpose.

Guys, very excited to have Gravely on board.
even more excited for these voicemails.
I've heard good things about our first two.
Chef, this one in particular for you.
It's titled Burrito Team 6.
Here we go.
Walk in.
And I forgot to hit play.
Hey, boys.
This is Courtney, a fellow M.T. Sixer and a BT-Sixer, a burrito team sixer.
I hope Chef's burritos were amazing.
I think you guys will have had them by now.
I'm calling past Thursday, so I really hope he delivered.
Anyways, I have a one-year-old named Nico.
He's not quite to the tugging age yet, if you know what I mean.
I just wanted to say thank you for the sleep program.
I think it's 12 hours by 12 weeks is what you recommended,
and my husband followed it, and our son is an amazing sleeper.
So I think I have you guys to think.
Love the sods.
Love the banter.
hearts talks, burrito talks. It's the best mix. Oh, and Will is my celebrity crush. I thought I'd mention that.
Oh, okay. Bye. Okay. Courtney. Wow. Thank you, Courtney. Thank you, Courtney. I didn't hear the part that you started
laughing really hard at. She said her son was not quite tugging age yet.
Said son was about six months, I think. Not quite tugging age.
far from.
Yeah, hopefully.
That was incredible.
Courtney, thank you so much for calling in.
Burritos were fantastic.
Burritos were fantastic.
Chef locked in.
He got him taking care of.
Let's see what we got for voicemail number two.
I like that burrito team six.
What's up, boys?
This is Phil from Arkansas.

Just take heed, gentlemen.
I'm a veteran, PT-Sixer.
My children are 24 to 18.
I've got a beautiful daughter and three goon berets.
And just when you think that life is doing well and things are flowing down,
you've gotten through the trenches safely.
Boom.
Menopause.
No.
It comes in like a high five to the face with a chair.
Winter is coming, boys.
I can't stress this enough.
Send health.
Pt6.
Oh, my God, dude.
Yeah, I just remember like in elementary school and middle school, like our classrooms being so freezing cold.
And we would complain about it like all the time.
And my mom was like, yeah, don't complain about that because your teacher's probably going through menopause.
It's having hot flashes.
That was this week's dad call-ins presented by Gravely.

Do you have a Pt6 community?
I do.
Not.
I do.
I do.
Anamota says, listening from Brasilia.
Brazil.
M.T6, South American stand up.
Hell yeah.
Hell yeah.
Do I have a mom come up.
When we were in Baton Rouge,
I was like, my husband said I needed to come up and say,
hi to you.
He said to tell you that I was a member of
Milk Team 6 and he just wanted to say what's up. I said tell that sicko. I say what's good, dude.
Let's go. Yeah, it was fun. Sign off. Last one right here. Lesson of the week from Jonah
Curns on Spotify. Come on Jonah. He says, cows turn and run when they sense a storm, causing them
to be in the storm longer as it overtakes them. The gosh darn American bison turns and runs directly
into the coming storm. Instinctually knowing that approach means they will be in the search. Damn it. I'm going to restart that. I'm going to restarting that because this seems like a banger. Cows turn and run when they sense a storm, causing them to be in the storm longer as it overtakes them. The gosh darn American bison turns and runs directly into the coming storm. Instinctually knowing that approach means they will be in the storm for less time. Face your problems.
on, walk into the storm, be the bison.
Hmm.
That's heat.
That is heat.
Be the bison.
