Hosted by Will Compton–NFL Vet, creator of Bussin' With the Boys, and proud dad of two. This show isn’t about expert advice and how fatherhood is the greatest thing on earth—it’s about embracing the love and suck of parenthood every day. From balancing work and family to battling the mental load, fears, and the moments that wreck you in the best way, we dive into it all with honesty, vulnerability, and a sense of humor. Cause at the end of the day... us dads have no idea what we're doing. Alongside Will is his producer Sherman Young, a recently new father who’s currently deep in the trenches of Fatherhood and loving every minute of it. Together, they’ll break down everything that can go right and wrong (...usually wrong) when you bring tiny humans into this world. Expect funny parenting stories, laughs, call-ins, advice, weekly themes, and the kind of conversations you’d have over a cold beer in the garage. Whether you’re raising teens or still Googling “how to install a car seat”, For the Dads is the ultimate podcast for dads who are in it, about to be in it, or just trying to do their best while screwing it up along the way. ----- FOLLOW THE BOYS Instagram: / Forthedadspod Twitter: / Forthedadspod Facebook: / Forthedadspod TikTok: / Forthedadspod LISTEN iTunes: http://bit.ly/BWTB_Apple Spotify: http://bit.ly/BWTB_Spotify ----- Drink Olipop : Buy any 2 cans of Olipop in store, and we'll pay you back for one. Before the Dads.
Papa Team 6, welcome to another episode of For the Dads.
Before we get rolling, I hope your trash is taken out.
Before we get rolling, it is Child Cancer Awareness Month.
And as you guys know, Evie the Brave, a legend on the show, her father, Dylan Payne,
he's reached out to us because we are partnering with Evie the Brave because what their family did is help stand up a foundation called Alex's Lemonade Stand to help raise money to support fighting childhood.
cancer. And one thing that we're doing with For the Dads here is we made shirts. Gong
rips for Evie the Brave. We will have the link down in the description in case you want to
donate to the foundation. We will have the, you can go to bwtb.com and buy these shirts for
gong rips. 100% of net proceeds will be going to Alex's lemonade stand. So again, that is partnering
in support in the fight against childhood cancer. It is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
If you are a new listener to For the Dads right now, Evie the Brave, she was two.
She was going into a routine doctor's appointment, a doctor's visit.
And it quickly turned into emergency surgery like the next week because they found a rare cancer,
a tumor right next to her spine that they had to get it removed immediately.
Mom's a badass.
Dad's a badass.
They were poised in the A-gap.
They fly out to New York.
They get it removed.
Surgery went well.
Evie the Braves hitting the gong.
She's hitting the bong.
So she's good.
But what they did from that, again, is stand up this foundation, Alex's Lemonade Stand,
to help fight against childhood cancer.
So, again, we're doing a big partnership.
It is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Go hit the link.
Go donate.
You can buy a shirt again.
100% of net proceeds is going to the foundation of Alex's Lemonade Stand.
Good morning, fellas.
Good morning.
And a big shout out to Deke working alongside Evie's family.
Evie's family reaching out to Deke, allowing us to be, you know,
alongside them,
getting with our merch team.
Shout out Alex at our merch team,
getting that shirt up on the site.
And shout out to Deek told me the 11 sickos.
They've already bought a shirt.
That's awesome.
Already diving in.
Yeah.
Supporting the cause.
Yeah.
I love it, dude.
We got a great sewed upon us.
We do.
We got some story down.
I am going to get back into the choking hazard because I'm sure my wife's like,
hang on a second.
You didn't tell me nothing.
You told me about Rue, maybe drowning,
but you didn't even need.
mention Scotty choking on a meat stick.
There's probably no better way as a mother to find out about this stuff via a podcast.
That might be the best way to hear about it.
Debateably, yeah.
Yeah.
Because now we can laugh.
We get sweated out.
We can giggle a little bit.
We can have a good time.
She knows that Scotty's good because she's at home.
She's right next to you.
She's great, honey.
She's crushing there right now.
But again, if you are new to For the Day,
Dad's Pod. Our community, Papa Team 6, it's an awesome community. We feature Pt Sixers throughout the
episode and MTCS. Shout out the moms out there. People write in, they drop comments in our
YouTube channel on the sodes. They drop comments in the Spotify comments. They drop comments on our
social media at For the Dad's Pod. Yep. Write in emails for the dads pot at gmail.com. We do voicemails.
We do with, we love to feature the community on the show. We get to those. All you have to do is
chime in with a comment anywhere across social or the podcast that you're watching right now or
listening to hopefully in the truck at work on Spotify, wherever you get the pod.
We love to feature everybody on the show.
We get to that here in a little bit.
We talk wins, losses, dad hacks.
We talk about just fatherhood being a dad, the highs and lows of it all.
This is the show we do it on.
We had some follow-ups from last week's episode.
A couple that gave me a little chuckle.
And this is, dude, this is shout-out chef because people showed out breakfast burritos
happened last week.
Come on.
It was a big fight.
It was a long fight.
We got it done. You got it done.
And this comes from Kota Key.
Glad the burritos were delivered.
Great work, chef.
Was that the closest we've actually kept it under an hour laughing emoji?
Yeah, it was a shorter one last week.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's a speed tour.
Unfortunately, Nichito 28 came with some fire towards chef.
I want you to know, I do not approve of this comment.
I might approve of it.
Will by?
I have a baby.
I have any strong filling.
Will's going to approve of it.
Green chili, brother.
You can't have a breakfast burrito
without green chili.
Amen, bro.
Some type of salsa.
An a yoli, a salsa,
a hot sauce.
Give me something with the burrito.
Britos were good.
No, I agree with that.
If I were going to do it again,
I would have two changes.
That's one.
Have sauce in it.
I got some kind of sauce.
I wouldn't do a naoli.
I'm not a huge mayo guy.
I'll do it.
with like seafood but uh maybe a good salsa a good liquid the pico wasn't enough yeah shout out the
comment from the chito from the chito this from brett binwa five my wonderful wife is about to pop
out our second girl so we have so we have we will have two angels under two which qualifies me to
be employed at busson anyway she said after nine months we should try for another girl i said they
don't make those anymore.
Oh, good.
They don't make those anymore.
Good.
Did I had some,
Hey.
Some of the Trader Joe's dark chocolate almonds.
I was ripping them around my hand yesterday when I got home from the shop.
I had about four in my hand and I ate a couple because I knew once Roos saw me and
Scottie saw me like they'd want one.
And I popped in the extra two because they were the last ones through the little container
away.
But they're like, I want something.
I want some.
I'm like, that ate the last one.
She's like, oh, there's more.
there's more. I'm like, they don't make any more, sweetheart.
That was it. How did it work?
It worked brilliantly. She stopped talking and kept doing whatever she was doing.
That's exactly what we're looking for.
That offensive execution from the dad hack last week of just tell them they don't make
them anymore. I'm going to try this on my wife this week. I can't wait to try it on my wife.
And clean the garage, honey, they don't make them anymore. They don't do that.
We have a ride in from Chase. It is a bit longer. But Chase has to
some really kind words.
He works at
an insurance agency
that his clients are farmers, so he
insures crops,
worked at that agency with his
mom for 18 years. His mom
unfortunately recently just passed.
But he had some really kind words about
the lesson of the week from
last week. He says sometimes it feels
impossible running the insurance
agency doing lots of manual labor
on my in-laws ranch,
where we live.
I had kids at home with me all summer. No nanny Willie one shelf, but I'm jealous and thank God,
school started again. And now coaching my son's flag football team. And I feel like I'm constantly
trying to earn the life that I have, but never feel like I do. I'm not sure if I took,
if I took your message the intended way. But what I took from it is to stop trying so hard to
earn it and being so hard on myself. I need to turn around and appreciate the family behind me and
realize that I have earned it, which I think is a great, I think that's a great interpretation.
Sorry for the rambling message, but I've been staring at Excel spreadsheet for the last
eight hours and I'm delirious. Keep up the great work boys. Chase Cunningham from Montana.
Side note, my son's team, the pink Mustangs. One boy refused to be the pink ponies, so we compromise.
Crush their first game last week and can't wait to see how the season goes. There's the pink Mustang.
Let's go ping Mustang.
Shout out Chase, man.
Pink ponies would have gone great because you already have your walkouts on.
Yeah.
And Chiefs,
thank you for that.
Thank you for that.
Write in.
Thank you for that comment.
Yes.
Thank you,
Chase.
Dude,
it's always like,
what a shift in perspective.
Yeah.
We'll ultimately do because you sit there and like,
you do feel like the world's on top of people all the time and you're
constantly going.
You're constantly going.
You're constantly asking yourself,
like, am I doing enough?
Am I being better?
I need to just have a better attitude about this more.
Yeah.
And what a good night of sleep when you actually do lay your head on the pillow between 9 and 930
and think like, all right, I'm not bullshit.
I'm going to get some good sleep.
Yeah.
I'm going to wake up tomorrow and I'm going to just have a completely different perspective
for how I go about the day.
How I think about everything.
How I think about when my wife asks for the extra thing or when my kids are nagging me.
How I'm mentally just going to shift my mind.
Dude, we were watching first time turning on.
It's on Apple TV.
Char I wanted Rue to watch something different
because she loves Tumble Leaf
She loves Daniel Tiger
She loves Little Bear
Shout out Little Bear
Shout out Little Bear!
Shout out Low Bear!
It's a little bear fan back in the day
But we threw on this show
called Stillwater
It's a very slow show
And basically the Sense
The Big Dog, the wisdom of
The character is this big panda
And it's all
The kids going through something
And he goes and seeks out
The Panda like out in the yard
Doing whatever the Panda
doing and he's wise and he's very kind and he's usually meditating and he they look the little boy
comes over and then the panda just tells him the story and it's all like perspective based stuff so him
writing that in it just made me think of Stillwater great TV show on Apple TV great TV show for kids on
Apple TV because it's slow it's not all the you know jumping around you know the different scenes
music dancing music good show it's all about shifting perspective and you sit there I'm like in
captivated. I just need that show. My guy is Scarlett doesn't even need that show. I could use that.
The other day, Jill, go ahead, Jeff. No, no, I don't want to interrupt. Oh, no. The other day,
I was in the kitchen and I was telling Jill's story about tossing Scarlet up in the air,
which is something I've started doing whenever I drop her off at daycare and pick her up.
And now it's gotten to the point that when I get outside of daycare, she's expecting it.
And so she starts like smiling and putting her hands up like that because she's like,
dad's about to toss me.
And so I'm very excited to tell Jill about this little tradition I've started.
And Jill just hits me with a very like, you know, don't toss her, you know, too high.
Like you're being careful about it, said it was zero tone.
And dude, I got so defensive in that moment.
Like complete shutdown of the like cutesy moment of me telling this story.
I was like, I never throw it.
What are you talking to me?
You throw her all the time.
You always throw her up in the air.
And she was like, whoa, whoa.
Like, and it really is like just looking back on that moment and like slowing down by thought process and just being like, dude, why did you get so defensive there?
Like, geez, Louise.
Like your wife is just saying like, hey, you're being careful though, right?
Honey, always.
It's our daughter.
Hey, no doubt.
Yeah, no doubt.
You know we have some fun, sweet art.
Water off the back.
Yes, dude.
I just, but it's a perfect example of just.
Need to watch some Stillwater.
I do.
And it's one of the, it's like the character.
He's always got like a metaphor, a parable, a story.
He's like, have I ever told you about the story of so and so and so and so?
And the kid's like, oh, no.
Or he's like, oh, this is my favorite story.
And then it like, you know, Doug Funny goes into this narration of another story.
I will one million percent rip some Stillwater.
It's a good show.
Okay.
It's a good show.
But shout out Chase for the right in.
Now I know my wife's ready to hear about Scott.
Yeah.
What's going on?
So what happened?
Over the weekend, we went to the Luann's birthday party.
They had a little birthday party for their kids.
It was a Pokemon splash party.
Yeah.
She had water slides.
You had foam pits.
You had Italian soda machine station.
You had photo op.
She had the, I did this all yesterday on busing.
What was it?
The claw.
Yeah.
Yeah, the claw.
The little claw thing.
Removing around a little claw machine.
They had puppies there.
I guess in case you wanted to take one home.
Could you take one home?
I don't know.
There's about six puppies in this pin.
And we were playing with, like you could play with puppies.
That's so sick.
Like a little petting zoo.
Throw back to bridesmaids, man.
That's awesome.
The Lawham parties, the Lawham parties get down, bro.
I remember like back of the day, whether it's Easter, any big, any party that they have,
you go there.
Like, it was like an Elsa,
a frozen Disney princesses.
This is like back of the day
and there's like a horse they're taking in.
They put a little unicorn.
They put a little horn on it
to have a unicorn.
Like they get down.
Rapidash.
They get down against parties, bro.
Oh my gosh.
But I'm rocking solo over there.
Charles, she hasn't been feeling well.
I'll get into that.
We'll get into that.
I trust me.
Yeah, we'll get into that.
But anyway, I've seen my
wife, she's like down on
Saturday.
Michigan just beats Oklahoma and I just look over
at Charon. I'm like, hey, you want me to rip the kid?
I'll take the kids. I'll go to the birthday party. Like, you just
stay home and you rest and you do your thing.
Then I'm busting her balls. I'm like,
yo, I'm jealous of you, bro. You just
you get to be on the couch while I'm taking the kids.
You get to watch ball.
You get to watch football because I had
all, you know, all the games on and everything else.
Like, I'm going to go and take care of the kids.
You enjoy your time here. And she's like
laughing and like, oh, sweet I'm going to take a nap.
I'm like, you get to watch football. I know what you're going to do, bro.
But I go over to the birthday party.
And so it's just me, Rue, and Scotty.
And Taylor shot me the invite like a month ago, a few weeks ago.
I didn't read the fine print. So I got the girls that, you know, they're in a dress and
stuff like that. Like they look sharp. They look good. They look adorable.
And then I get out of the truck and I see the water slides up and everything else.
I'm like, oh, shit, this is a, I pull out my phone and check the graphic again for the
little digital invite and I'm like oh it's a splash party like well I didn't even bring their suits
so I go up to tail and I'm like hey you guys happen to have like a four-year-old swimsuit and
tail and I hate to ask this too do you happen to have one for scotties scotties around 21 months 22
months they rocked them they had them good so I go into the bathroom I'm changing them up getting
them ready because they you know you see the water so you see everything going on they want to be in
the action yeah shout out taylin shout out tailin shout at the loans for hooking it up
Hooking the boy up.
Quick little dad lost just to start.
I get out.
My brain goes through.
Of course it's a fucking water party, dude.
And then I'm like, this is on them.
They sent me the invite.
You can't send me the invite.
You got to send my wife the invite.
How much water was on that invitation?
I need visuals.
Going in squinting at it.
Splash party.
Damn it.
I saw Pokemon, so I knew like Scotty was going to be ready to go.
She loved Spikachu.
Yeah, yeah.
Anyway, quick little dad loss.
We get rolling.
And Rue's a little timid to go up the water slides.
So I'm talking to her.
Scottie's trying to run around.
Scottie wants to go on the water slide.
Water slides too big, sweet are you can't go on the water slide.
Anyway, kids are having fun.
Kids are playing.
I go in and sneak a little ball time in Taylor's Man Cave.
Yeah, yeah.
A little Man Cave very.
He had the multi-view going on on YouTube TV.
We got all the games.
Kentucky, Alabama's going at it.
And we're taking it.
We're taking a quick break.
Roo is playing on the water slide.
She's good to go.
I got people over there like, hey, she's got the friend.
She's got, there's some adults over there.
So it's all good.
I'm going to go sneak me a little peak of the game.
Yeah, yeah.
Kentucky Bam is in the barn burn.
In case Choros listen and going, hey,
Willie, see, where are we talking about?
There's a supervision going on.
There's a lot of supervision over there.
We were all good.
And Scotty wanted to go on the waterside so much.
I'm trying to get her in the foam and everything else,
but she wants to do what Roos doing.
So I'm like, okay, let's separate her from this area.
Let's take her in.
Let's go get her a snack.
Let's just get her locked in while I can sneak some ball a little bit.
Yeah, yeah.
She's eating a meat stick.
I'm feeding her this meat stick
She's got like she's good
Like I just want people to know
Like she'll have the meat stick at her hand
And she can eat the meat stick on her own
We've seen her biting and chewing
We've done it plenty of times
This is routine
Give her an apples sauce first
Now she's got the meat stick
I'm watching the game
And then all of a sudden I hear
I hear Scotty sorry
I'm like
Immediately my eyes get wide enough
Because I've had PTSD
If you've listened to Four the dads before
Like Rue had a quarter to go down
Yeah had a quarter go down her throat
So the fear, my man, that came into my body.
And it wasn't, I do want my wife to know and I want everybody to know.
I'm exaggerating this story a little bit.
Like I'm not just sitting on the couch watching the game, not caring what's going on.
I'm dialed in with Scotty.
Chef was there.
Hopefully he saw some good examples.
But like, I'm not like taking my eyes off of Scotty.
It's just this one fleeting moment where she takes a bite.
She starts and I immediately go over.
she was good she was okay she coughed a couple times it comes up she choosing i'm like sweetheart you have
to do you cannot taylor saw me he's leaned up because once i heard the first cough i'm like i just fly
about of my seat and i'll go over to and i'm just kind of looking at her at first like am i going to
need to give her the heimlich am i going to layer over the layer over the knee yeah yeah yeah i saw
like my eyes go straight to the me sick i saw she just had a little bite off the meat sick okay so it's
not a big one yeah everything was all good she hit a couple calls
I see it come back in her mouth.
She chooses it.
And I'm like, Scotty Jolie, sweetheart.
You have got to choose.
You cannot.
That is solo.
You get that, right?
Mom's at home.
If we die, we truly die.
Yeah.
Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad.
Yeah, yeah.
I ain't tell Charles that one.
She's hearing that right now for the first time.
Oh, no.
And sweetheart, as you're listening.
Oh, no.
As you're listening, it was truly, it was.
all good. Sometimes when you storytell, you got to exaggerate a little bit. I was kind of
on the money with the whole story, but it was all good, just a couple coughs. Can I quickly
just lay a blanket on this situation to also throw my hat in the ring? Charo, hope this
story makes you feel remotely better because I was handed my daughter. First thing in the
morning, I'm still in bed. Jill has handed Scarlett to me.
Jill is then going to the bathroom to freshen up, I'm fully on Scarlet duty.
I am fully in charge of Scarlet's safety while Jill is in the bathroom.
And I start playing peekaboo by throwing my head into my pillow and then popping it back up.
And Scarlet thinks it's hilarious.
And she starts mimicking it.
She's in a big mimicking stage right now.
and she's just fully throwing her body,
fully throwing her body, fully throwing her body
into the pillow over and over again.
I go down and dude, as I come back up,
her feet are in the air
and she is flipping off the side of the bed,
hits the side table.
I'm talking full...
Brother, I'm talking full...
Dizum!
Noise and to where like the lamp kind of shakes
and it kind of flickers, like the light flickers.
like the light flickers, you know?
Dramatic.
I'm then just like fully going to her to go pick her up.
I'm like trying to get off the bed as well to do it.
Bed is not that high for people listening at home.
But like, I mean, we're talking a good amount of hype.
So Jill just comes into loser dad,
standing over daughter,
who's now fully just on the crowd like this.
And is loading up the biggest.
scream I've ever heard her do.
Brother, I was,
Jill did not hold it over me
like too hard, but
oh man, did I put myself
like in a doghouse in my mind
for like the next
probably four to five hours.
I've just never like
seen her
take a spill like that.
And it was, it was a
see the pain, witness the pain on them.
Dude, you feel so bad.
So bad.
I immediately went outside to go, hey, was Sherman do when he's really pissed off at himself?
He goes and does yard work.
He goes and does yard work.
Did it way to...
That's your way of taking a lap.
That's my way of taking a lap.
I didn't do it until later in the day.
Decide to do it way too late in the day.
So then I hit the cut off of when you should stop mowing when I'd only got my backyard done.
So my house currently has a reverse mullet right now.
We got a party in the front and trim in the back,
which is maybe the worst case scenario
because the front's what everybody sees.
Yeah.
It's a bad beat, man.
It was like a triple dad loss in one.
Yeah, I know.
I'm sure a lot of people know that feeling.
Like when Roo was around Scotty's age and we were doing a,
we were down in Florida.
It was just me, Charo, and Rue.
Rue's got her bottle and she's on like the edge of the couch.
Yeah.
She's about to have a bottle before we put her down for a nap.
And she wanted a bluey book.
That was kind of like a distance to where lean and grab.
And bro, she took a tumble, lean over leveraged herself, got over the skis, falls,
smacks her head on the edge of the coffee table, cuts are open, blood everywhere.
I'm in the car driving to a Walgreens or CVS looking for a first aid kit.
Will.
And both of us, it wasn't like one of us was on watch.
Like, we were getting either lunch or something ready.
Like, let's put Scottie here.
Give her a bottle.
She saw the blueie book.
She wanted the bluey book.
Her legs obviously can't touch the ground.
She leans.
Boom.
Smacks it.
Boom.
Cut her open, blood everywhere.
Oh.
And we felt like shit, dude.
Oh.
Yeah.
What are those next, like, couple hours look like as far as, like,
do y'all have to take her to, uh,
No, we didn't take her anywhere.
It's like we're sitting there doing like research on like, you know, she was cut and she was bleeding.
But it wasn't like a stitches moment or anything like that.
You talk about should we take her in, blah, blah, blah.
And both of us are kind of the same in that regard.
Yeah.
Being overreactive and like, hey, at the end of the day, like you're going to have to put a couple butterfly.
Butterfly bandages on it.
Yes, that's what I was thinking of.
Yeah.
Something to like help close it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And then you just feel shitty because they're.
cut. You witnessed how bad that they were screaming. They were hurt. You just feel like a dog shit
parent. It's brutal. You feel like such a loser for like the next couple of hours. Like,
I was just sitting there like how I was just like, oh, poor girl, man. And I was inches from her.
It wasn't like I was on the other side of the bed. Yeah, that's tough. I was like literally within
this ruler of like how close I was to my daughter. And I throw my.
myself into the pillow to then come out and just see her feet pointing towards the sky as her body's
flipping off the bed. I don't even know what happened. You know what I'm saying? Like it's like
time stopped, but it also like fast forwarded at the same moment. Yeah. A couple weeks ago,
Scotty was like jumping on her little cushion chair and we were telling her it was during
Pizza Friday and movie night. We were telling her stop jumping like you were going to fall and hit
this, uh, what is it called? Like the,
little wall things that got like a lot of creative stuff on them that you can play with. Busyboard.
Oh yeah. Busy board leaning against like our coffee table. Yeah. She was kind of bouncing close to
it near and she, you know, Scottzilla. She's Scottzilla. You can't contain her. Yeah.
And we're just telling her, yo, you're going to hurt yourself. Stop and sitting her down doing all the
things. Like, hey, be over here. Go lay with dad ass. She wanted to, she just knew that she was
being annoying. Being an annoying little prick. Yeah. And sure enough, she falls and
Boom.
Hard.
Hard.
Like lump, you know, you get the, you get like the big old raised lock.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah, where the blood's, blood is.
Oh, oh.
Fight, dude.
Blood wasn't coming out.
I know what you mean.
But going to where it was like a little goose egg.
Yeah.
We felt bad, but I know a part of me is like, you have to learn a natural consequence, bro.
Yeah.
I felt bad.
I was giving her kisses like, hey, let's put the, uh, let's put boo boo boo bunny on it where you got a little
icing boo boo bunny wrapped around it.
Gotta put boo boo boo boo boo.
felt terrible for and but part of me was like yeah there you got a you you had to you had to
there's a part of me that's glad that it happened to that that is a weird feeling of like
you do fuck the kids man yeah a little bit that too a little bit scarlet's kind of been looking at me
funny like what's going on with that yeah scarlet's balance isn't fully there like rude like she she
like all right this is going to happen you better learn your lesson
Yeah. Then it happened.
Bring yourself up, man.
What do you do?
She get hard.
Oh, she's fine.
Honey.
She's fine.
Honey.
She's walking out of the room holding.
Yeah, yeah.
I was like,
oh, shit.
Just Sean and I were both kind of like annoyed by how.
He's like,
bro,
just watch the movie relax.
Yeah.
Our bed height is,
she ate that shit.
Perfect description of our bed height.
It's couch height.
Yeah.
Like a sofa height bed.
So like that,
honestly,
happening in where our bedroom is carpet and then we also have a rug in our bedroom. So she fell on
rug and carpet instead of what is our living room is just hardwood floor. And so she just last week,
actually, I'm cooking by myself. I'm trying to grill and do like crazy dinner to kind of treat
Jill as she's coming back from, she started doing yoga, which is super exciting.
And she's been doing these yoga classes in the evenings.
And so I was like, I'm going to have dinner ready.
I'm going to, you know, crush it.
Scarlet's like truly walking around the house now, which that's crazy.
Crazy, man.
Crazy.
And I'm doing dinner with my back to the living room, but I have Bluey on.
And some of her favorite toys are down there.
And she entertains herself all the time with her toys.
But I just hear, like really excited Dadda.
yelling and I turn around with all these frying pans going on. Scarlett's just on our couch
standing up like towards the back end of the couch and it's like, I, I'm like, oh, so we learned
how to climb the couch. Perfect. Yeah. Great. Good. And that was before the bed tumble. And so
now I'm kind of like weirdly happy that the bed tumble happened because I've now seen her on the
couch, like swing her legs out and make sure her legs come down. And then she like starts moving around.
I'm like, okay. So she's, she'll eat that shit one day. She, oh, because Scotty for sure.
They love jumping on the couch when they get going. Oh, yeah, big time. I had to get loud with
Scottie the other day because she started to jump on the couch. I was like, hey, stop jumping.
Get down right now. What's her, what's her face? Does she just get the, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
She's got the...
She doesn't take it too personal.
She doesn't take it too personally yet.
She's got the best locked in face.
Like, like, sometimes like a stink face almost that she'll give you.
Yeah, yeah.
And she just want to do what Rue's doing.
And then I got to tell Rue, hey, Roo, she, it's monkey see monkey do.
But she wants to do what you are doing.
Uh-huh.
I know you can jump on the couch.
But the moment Scott it gets up, it's not like playtime with Scottie.
Like she'll fall, she'll, she'll fall off.
She doesn't have your balance.
Easy.
But anyway, at the, um,
at the party too, a second scare I talked about, alluded to the Rue drowning one.
I told this one I'm bustling with the boys.
But as I sit there and stuff with Scottie, it's like, hey, you want to go play?
Like, I'm trying to be, it's like Rue wants to play on the water slide.
Scottie can't play on the water, Scott.
I also got to keep Scottie busy.
I don't want to leave Rue by her, you know, operating by herself for too long, making sure it's happening.
And hey, you're having fun over here.
You're going up the slide and she's having fun with the friends and climbing up.
Oh, Dad, watch this.
I'm watching her trying to get a video.
Scottie, let's go keep Scottie busy
because right now she's just walking around
and the kind of the mud surrounding the waterside.
She's just wanting to go up
and I'm like, I got to go keep her busy
doing something with other like Pokemon stuff
or whatever it is.
Hey, there's Pikachu.
Keep her busy.
Scottie's over.
So she's like, hey, can I go swim in the pool?
Got to find her goggles.
Hey, I found you some goggles.
Put them together.
Here's the goggles.
Go ripping the pool.
Clumps in the pool.
There's supervision.
I'm standing outside of the pool.
So I'm watching.
Watching Scottie,
watching Root, back and forth,
back and forth.
And then there was a moment to where basically everybody was kind of out of the pool,
like clumps sitting at the edge of the pool or like standing at the edge of the pool.
And I see Rue, she's making her way toward the middle of the water.
And Rue's a pretty good swimmer for her four.
And she, you know, in our pool, she'll dive down at the bottom.
She can go dive for whatever it is, but our pool only goes down six feet.
Taylor's is nine.
She's making her way out to the middle of the water.
And I can just hear kind of being, it felt like she was already a little exhausted.
So I was just going to tell her like, hey, swim to the side, let get to the side.
And then she's like, the yellow shark, the yellow shark.
And I just hear her voice kind of like, you know, she's, she's breathing heavy.
Yes.
She just goes underwater.
And then I'm watching her and she's, I see her swimming down to go get this yellow shark.
And again, this is nine feet.
So I immediately, like, I put the, I put Scotty Squirtle down that she had just won.
I put the Italian soda down.
I started emptying my pockets.
Because I'm thinking she might not know how deep that is.
And even she goes down to get it,
like the urgency she's going to need to come up to the water.
Like she might be out of breath.
Oh, for sure.
So I'm getting ready to jump in.
I see he's clump circling because he sees me.
And I want to say he was watching Rue too
because Rue is just in the pool like by herself.
And I'm getting ready to dive in.
Yeah.
And I'm like, I'm watching Rue and I see her coming up.
And when she comes up, I'm like wanting to see what her
first reaction is. She's like, I got the yellow shark, dad. I got the yellow shark. And I'm like,
kind of my shoulders drop. I'm like, bro, swim to the side. And she's telling her, I'm like,
yo. And she's so excited because she got the yellow shark. And now I'm thinking of my head, like,
yeah, that is badass. You are badass. But bro, like, come on. I thought you were thinking about.
You don't take years off dad's life. Like, Scotty just almost choked on the goddamn meat stick.
You got almost a second L. Taylor comes out. He sees it. He's like, you almost caught two
L's and I'm like, you said that. Yeah. And then I'm telling Taylor, I'm like, no,
Low-key, she kind of bodied that diving down there.
Like, it was impressive.
Yeah, yeah.
But yeah, dude.
Just operating solo, like around a water party for kids.
And Scotty, they're just different levels going back and forth.
It was, there was a couple times, right, I'm just, I'm walking chef into the equation.
I'm like, chef will show you how to do this.
Chef, keep an eye on her.
Chef, watch this.
If it makes you feel any better, I thought you did a great job.
But I didn't see the choking part or the diving in.
But diving in you would have been impressed.
I was just more of like what was coming on in my head.
I'm like, God damn, bro.
Like, I have a quick, funny story.
When Will was talking about sneaking away to watch ball, that was like my home base.
That was me, Matt, Ryan.
We're all 24.
No kids.
We were, we found quickly, we said hi.
And then we were like, we needed to find a TV.
The STICOs were holding it down.
STICOs were holding down.
We were.
We were breaking bread with Dave, Dave Lawan talking hockey and stuff.
But, you know, Oregon's about.
to lose to Oklahoma State
and they just turn the ball over
and I go, I kind of look up and I don't
know why but there's a sense of like I know
Will is taking care
of two little girls. He needs to know that
Dan Lanning might get upset in Stillwater
so I go to see Will and
Will's out by the slide. Rue is not
going up the slide yet and he's
kind of talking her up like hey you need go up the
slide. Funny enough Scotty is legitimately
trying to crawl out of Will's arms.
Like try to she will
I know girl I know you want to go up there.
You're too young.
Like whispered her.
The tale of two daughters.
Yeah.
Because Roos wanting when to go up with her the second time because Roode went up there already and slid down and she thought it was awesome.
She's like, I need win.
I'm like, sweetheart, you can do this.
There's another four year old who is going up.
And I'm trying to like.
Second slide.
Yeah, the second slide.
I'm just trying to talk to her.
I'm like, Daddy cannot go up the slide.
I can't go up that slide with you.
Yeah.
The best part is I guess this is like good context.
I don't have any kids.
I'm 24.
or my brain he goes to it.
Okay, me and Will's going, oh, that's crazy.
You know, and I go, you know, watch him get rid of the slide.
And I'm thinking, I need to get back and watch this game for a second.
And Will goes, I start kind of walking.
Will goes, no, no, no, no, no.
You need to watch.
Watch, this is a big moment.
Word for word.
He's like, this is a big moment.
And then I watched it kind of hit me.
I was like, oh, I should, like, you know, like, it's okay.
The game's fine.
The game's on.
Like, it's not the end of the world.
Yeah, yeah.
And then I saw that look at his eyes too.
and I did hit him with...
No, no, no, no.
You're going nowhere.
I'm standing out in this 95 degree here right now.
You're going to stay with me.
They don't have Debo for this kind of shit.
All right?
You can rewind the organ game.
You can watch that again.
This only happens once right here.
That's hilarious.
The other thing was at the end,
right as we're about to leave,
Will hands me a towel.
Like, he's scrambling.
I think he's trying to get Scott and he's like,
hey, can you give this to Roo?
Roo, needs a towel.
I go over to Roo.
And Roooo reminds me a lot of like,
she doesn't really know me.
She reminds me of like you when I first started working here as an intern.
Like you,
you kind of have a look on your face.
It's a little like, who is this person?
A little cagey.
I go up to Rue and I'm trying to be like really nice and sweet.
I go, hey, Rue, your dad brought, wanted me to give you this towel.
You'll be right back.
Do you want it?
She kind of goes like that.
And then I go, okay, like and I'm holding out.
She doesn't reach.
So she has her arms like one hand on cake, like birthday cake.
And so I kind of like put it right here on the arm.
And she just kind of like stands and doesn't move.
And then eventually I look and I go, yeah, it's not going to work.
It's I grabbed, I grab the towel back.
I go, I'm just going to wait until your dad gets back.
Good instincts.
Will comes back around.
He goes, did you not give her the towel?
I'm like, I tried.
I think she's too focused on the cake.
Like it was like a.
That was good instinct though because that that towel is going to have cake all over it.
Yeah.
All over it.
So I felt pretty good about how I handled it.
But I was just sitting there.
I did come on.
with chef and chef hands me at the house like did you not give her the towel dude that's incredible
i fell in a weird spot where i'm like no no no i try i tried but i didn't want to throw a ruin
the bus there was a part of me that was like she was just focused on the cake so i kind of like
tried to mediate and go i you know i just figured maybe i would wait a second like hi i'm chef i do
a pod with you like i promise i'm a stranger danger there's this big thing
there's big things with burritos i took care of the brittos it's all good so now we're
We're good. Oh, okay.
Dude, you unlocked a memory, by the way, with, because my parents were like, not weird about pools, but they were like real strict about pool safety.
My dad in high school at a, it was like their fall camp, they would bus them out to, God, I got to remember in Texas, but it's like middle of nowhere, burrs in the grass to kind of like pardon the boys up.
And there was one swimming pool.
They'd let all the guys jump into the swimming pool after practice.
It's a shallow pool.
And one of his teammates dived head first or dove headfirst.
Paralyzed.
What?
Instantly paralyzed.
No one noticed except for my dad.
Because everybody's in the pool all at once.
And my dad, it was like a friend of his, he thought he was kidding and pretending to drown.
and then thankfully my dad went underneath the water
to like look at his face and like blow bubbles at him like,
dude, what are you doing?
And the guy's just like blankly staring at my dad.
My dad was like, oh my God.
And then just like grabbed him and pulled them out of the pool and saved it.
It was crazy.
Crazy story.
Guy's still alive today.
Oh my God, dude.
Is that not insane?
Yeah.
Yeah.
So my parents were always like real strict.
about like pool safety and stuff and like keep an eye on and that unlocked it.
I'm going to be a mess when Scarlett starts swimming.
I might be a mess the rest of the fucking day.
Oh, dude.
I know.
Jesus.
Dude,
I was expecting that.
Like,
okay,
yeah,
I've dove in a shallow end.
You hit your head.
It's like,
oh,
tough way to learn.
Oh,
yeah, dude.
Oh,
yeah.
Crazy shit.
And then I almost drowned on a pool cover.
It was a green pool cover.
And I thought it was a putting green.
at a house.
Because you couldn't see the edges of the pool.
I was like five.
And I walked out onto the pool cover and it just completely closed in on me.
And like water was starting to fill up.
And my cousin went and grabbed my dad.
And he saved me.
So two saves for Papa Sherm on drowning, which is crazy.
Yeah, the pool stuff is scary, bro.
Scary, dude.
And Jill said that's a, that's like I'm pretty sure in infant or toddler stage.
the leading cause of death is drowning,
which is nuts.
Yeah, man.
And she said some kids will just like fall into a puddle,
like face first in a puddle,
and they get knocked out a little bit,
and it's crazy.
Yeah, the pool stuff is.
It's a scary.
It was tough, kind of.
I was actually kind of surprised,
Scotty not wanting to go into the pool.
Because I thought for sure,
once Roos in there, Scotty's going to want to go in.
Oh, she's still not crazy about the pool.
No, she is. I'm surprised.
She didn't want to go in the pool.
That day.
when I had Scottie's
swimsuit on. Yeah. It was to be in
like the foam area like all the bubbles
that were coming. Yeah. To play in the bubbles
because I didn't have a swim diaper for. Like that was the one
thing I was, I was like, do you happen to have
a 22 month, two year old swim diaper?
It's so clutch that they had it. They didn't have a swim diaper.
They had the swimsuit. Oh, the swimsuit.
But Taylor's like, this would be fine because if she
just plays in the bubble, she won't be getting wet.
But when Rue got in the pool, I'm like, surely
Scottie's going to be screaming to get in the pool.
Fortunately, she didn't. I kept her busy with
like Pokemon balls, like all the kids are playing in the pool.
Yeah.
But this guy just was rocking her regular diaper.

But yeah, man, good day, good day at the birthday part.
Overall, it was a fun day at the birthday party.
The pokey party sounded legit.
Yeah.
They have five points pizza coming in.
So I'm like, they want a pizza.
So I'm giving Scotty a bite, giving root bite,
Scottie a bite, ruy bite.
They want the Italian.
So those are lemonade going on.
They're bickering about the lemonade.
I got a backpack full.
I'm equipped.
Let's get some apple juice.
Let's get some apple sauce.
Here's a meat stick.
I wish I'd been there, dude.
That would have been fun.
There's two.
There's one reason why I'm glad that I wasn't there.
We had to sell Jill's car.
So that's the second reason.
It was, that needed to happen.
We needed to sell Jill's car.
We got it done.
And that is like, that's one of those things when you check it off the list.
It feels so big in your head.
But once we did it, we're like, oh, my God, so glad I did that.
And too, man, if they were puppies that you could lead that party with,
you're looking at a proud owner of a brand new puppy.
And I know what everyone.
puppies were getting after it on each other.
Everyone listening.
A whole time.
Dude, they were going at it.
And they're such sweet looking dogs too.
Yeah.
And they were all of a sudden, because there is right next to the ball watching cave, all of a sudden, you're like the whole time.
And I tell Taylor, I'm like, hey, these dogs are kind of getting after.
What breed?
What breed?
There's some type of oodle, right?
Yeah.
Like a poodleish, not poodle, but they didn't have the hair for a poodle.
Some type of like hypo.
It seemed that way.
Maybe not, though.
They look like the, the Pokemon
Evie for anyone at home that knows Pokemon.
That's kind of like...
Did you happen to see some of the little kids to pick them up and just drop them?
I didn't pay that much attention.
I just would hear the audible barking.
I'd see them just start going at each other.
And some kids are in there like starting to cry and scream.
I'm like, you know, is somebody going to save that kid?
Like the dog's kind of attacking the kid.
With your Italian soda and Scotty.
What's going?
What's going on?
One of the boys
has it and then just kind of drops it
and I'm thinking this little badass kid dude
and the girl's like, don't drop the dog
I'm like yeah, tell his ass
some of the sights and sounds
you just kind of like observe and witness
Oh yeah dude
Especially at a something like that
Where there's so much going on
Like so much fun stuff
Dude that's why I love the
I know we talked about that at your dinner party
I love carnivals
amusement parks
All types of stuff
like that where there's just so many sights and sounds and kids, dude. But to the point,
I think Jill would have actually, since our dogs just went to Grandma's house, I know that
the listeners would just destroy me in the comments of, what do you mean?
But, guys, I love my wife, but like she loves rescuing animals so much. It's kind of insane.
we had two dogs.
We would have had five dogs
if it had been Jill's way.
We just had to.
If you're married to one of those too,
like there's really no choice.
Oh, dude.
Like I've had to really like fight
to not bring a dog in
of like, honey, I love you so much.
But we ain't doing the dog that like,
we already have two.
We live in an apartment.
Now you want a lab.
Like they like,
sometimes you got to be the voice of reason.
I love you, honey.
We love you.
We love you, Jill.
But sometimes you got to be the voice of reason.
My wife's not been feeling good.
I love her.
I feel bad for her.
But she's got to get better.
But the effort.
Low effort.
She's going to start taking her medicine to get, start feeling better.
She has to, man.
Because you can't do it all hundreds.
I can't be just missed your mom.
Like your best of, and I love my wife.
A ton.
Dude.
I adore.
But your best ability is availability.
You know what I mean?
I know exactly what you mean.
I know.
And I think you.
And I feel bad.
I'm like, oh.
And like, look, I look and I'm like, hey, let me rip.
I'll take the kids.
You get some rest.
That did happen.
And I came home when she had spaghetti made.
Like, when she was, she was still, she was solid.
But there's moments from just like,
Hey, let's check your Tim.
No fever.
Okay, so you're getting better.
That's great.
That's great.
I would still take things slow,
but like you're getting better.
Yeah.
So you can help more.
Yeah.
So you can clean this up over here.
Well, I'm getting the dinner ready.
You can get the placements and everything else out.
Yeah.
Oh, my God.
I'm joking, sweet.
We're kidding.
We love to have fun on the pod.
And we should have a.
dogs. I should get eight dogs.
I think Jill does have a point
there.
Do we want to do our cracker cold ones?
What would my crass?
I feel like I have a few floating through my head.
We're just, we're in a
phase.
He's got one and
and I do want in the game. We'll get you in the game.
You can make a play. I can make a sub.
Before we fully. It doesn't need to be a sudden.
It can be an addition.
It'd be addition. That would be awesome. Before we fully get into it
though. We do have.
have a brand new flavor.
Ollipop, caramel, apple.
We did a little taste-cessing.
I think it was Deke that said
it feels like this would be a really good float.
Or was it you, Will?
It was one who...
I know I was super into it.
I was super into the idea of the float.
I just said super into the idea.
So there you go.
I didn't have the idea.
So...
But I do think it was me.
That's incredible and run that tapeback chef
because Deke just smiled out.
to me, it was me.
But we have our caramel apple and we're going to be making little floats today for our crack of
cold one segment. Deeks going to make those for us.
Hey, listen. Drink of the fall.
Some are saying, dude. A lot of people are saying.
Carmel apple drink of the fall. A lot of people are saying. Spooktober. Drink of
Spooktober.
The caramel apple is good.
And we've already proven on the show.
We like it by itself.
It doesn't need the ice cream.
We just said,
oh, man, it's fall.
This would be incredible.
This and an ice cream float,
we have to do it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But Mike,
crack a cold one.
We're in just in such a fun phase.
Like my wife and I took a pause
this morning to watch Roo and Scotty on the couch.
Like,
they just play together.
They play together really well for 85% of the time.
Yeah.
are obviously Roos annoyed by her. Scotty's bullying or like all this stuff happens. But I love that.
You're just getting that out of the out of the little bucket. But watching them play together,
it just warms your heart, man. And they were having a moment together on the couch. Like Roos,
like reading her a book or saying whatever Roos saying about the book. Scotty's laughing. She's
having fun. But just watching them play together, it is, it is awesome. I would say that's where my
crack a cold one is. And also shockwave this morning, not the, I didn't hear it.
Shockwave this.
Oh, okay.
I thought that's what you said.
And I know we were talking about amusement parks earlier.
And so I didn't know if you had made your way down to Dallas Fort Worth,
six flags over Texas, or not.
But you were here this weekend.
So I'm guessing.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Crack a call once.
Hey, crack a call.
Hey, congratulations.
Thank you.
Congratulations.
Golf club.
So she is feeling better.
Hey, you want to know what's funny?
dude and we're joking
we had a good laugh
because I'm like grinning
I'm like grinning to myself
before I even say this
but we're laying in bed one morning
Do you need a fresh one?
Yeah I'll take
Yeah I got one
And she wasn't feeling well
And I'm cuddling up to her
And I'm like I just whispered here
I was like
You thinking what I'm thinking?
And she just responded, face looking away from me, she's like, probably not.
We just start laughing.
I rolled my, you know, I just roll over.
I'm having a good chuckler of.
I'm like, oh, you don't want some Dr. D?
What do you talking about?
Dr. D might help you out.
Let's check that temperature.
You know, honey.
I think I got a fever.
Think I got a fever over here.
All right.
Probably not.
Man, I still don't feel.
I'm like, no, you don't.
You take what I'm thinking?
Epic quote.
Epic quote.
Oh.
What's your crack of coal one, brother?
My crack of coal one is to my parents, because I just moved out.
I did a full year at home.
Thank you mom and dad for housing me.
Yeah.
It's been awesome.
It's been a really cool year.
What?
Raising you?
Raising me, everything all above.
But especially letting me come back and stay.
with him for a year in college. It was like awesome. They probably loved it, bro. They did.
It was like my dad and mom both were like emotional when I was like, hey, this is the last
week before I move out. Because it was such a stark contrast than 18 years before. Sorry.
No, it's good. This is awesome. Yeah, this is unbelievably good by the way. This is awesome.
Ollipop caramel apple with just a little bit of vanilla ice cream and oh my God. Not to interrupt
shop. Holy shit. But yeah, that was it. And then the new house, living with Matt.
Yeah. How is it? How is it? Yeah. How is it with the Gune Barre? It's actually been really good.
It's a nice home. It was just like recently built outside of Nashville. And I've been able to cook,
get back into like the cooking groove, making stuff for the roommates. So far, so good. Like,
it's a nice home. Everyone has space. And like, who do you think is going to be a problem? Like,
way you operate. Everybody, it's like, you know, your roommate, your roommates, you got a few of you
boys in the house. How old are you? 24. About to be 25. Okay. So you're not like that all yet.
If any, if it's going to be anyone, it's going to be Matt, because we work together. But we've
already put kind of parameters in of like, hey, we can't let that. The usual, like,
we have to be really honest with each other. And if it's like, hey, I need you to walk the fuck away,
then that's what it's got to be. But if there's any chance that we have a fourth room.
roommate who doesn't have a girlfriend so we don't see him a lot. And then it's Matt's best friend Scott.
Scott's a dog. I don't think, I don't think it would be Scott. If anything, it would be Matt. But I think
it's going to work. I really do. We'll see. I'm excited to hear. He's one that strikes me as like,
you're wise beyond your years. You think she's leaving it that. Yeah, chef's going to be holding it down
in your mind. Yeah. I agree. I'm excited to hear about any, uh,
housewarming party, any like first house party yet?
Possibly.
Nothing, nothing yet.
We had a Scott, our other roommate, had his girlfriend in for a while,
and that she lives long distance.
So kind of like up.
How long was she in?
About a week and a half.
Okay.
And the boys were cool with that.
Boys were cool with that.
Yeah.
Let's go.
The boys got to be.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
The boy's got to be until you're kind of behind their back.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And it's like, how long she's staying?
I'm just saying it's a lot of people in the house.
It's a lot of people.
Like, I kind of, like, I'm that way.
Isn't she going on?
I can kind of be a Debbie Downer.
Not like, I'm not just talking couples and girlfriends.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
She's like when somebody comes and they're staying a long time, I'm just like, what we're doing?
Did you know she's going to be saying a week and a half?
Right before she landed.
Hey, there you got.
Before she landed?
I just moved in.
It was the day I moved in.
So it wasn't like a, I had,
me and Matt had no issue with it.
It was cool.
It's long distance.
I get it.
I do the same thing.
Yeah.
I'm just a space guy.
I,
I'm a need space guy.
You would like this house.
There's a couple places you can go.
So it's not like you're trapped into,
it's not like an apartment where you're like,
but also it's your house.
You don't like not,
you know,
being able to navigate around your house.
I'm in the boat of,
the way you want to navigate around it.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
It's like,
you can't walk around like shirt off or anything like that sucks but other than that like
I'm a person to wear I don't that stuff has never bothered me much I've always been like hey I'm
cool with whatever I lived in a house with eight guys in college yeah that's crazy that was and that did
suck but that was for different reasons we were all idiots and it was about to say we had a house
of seven my senior year so that's too many way too many when it gets that big oh oh for sure
it's for sure and it was I mean sizable house but like
doubling up on rooms and stuff.
Like I was in a damn near a closet.
They called it the penalty box.
It was like a basically an office had a baby with a closet.
And that was my bedroom, my senior year.
But to that point,
I don't want to push chef in any sort of direction.
I'm not telling you what to do.
I'm just saying you can still walk around that house with your shirt off.
Yeah, for sure.
You can. Always could.
You can go into the kitchen just in your underwear, stretch a little bit, get something out of the fridge, drink right out of the gallon jug for milk.
You can do that if you want.
The freedom of choice is always there.
Yes.
I'm not telling you to do that, but...
Always can.
That would be sick.
Then you're really pissing on the hydrant.
This is my house.
Let everybody know.
I love, we're just true curiosity, having some fun.
He's sitting there trying to balance the dynamic.
Boys listen to the show, like in my...
I know Matt's going to end up listening.
It could have been a house divided while the stay was happening.
You never know.
You do never know.
But from behind the scene stuff that I've talked with chef,
if a sad friend with girlfriend that stayed for a week and a half is listening,
he was very cool with it.
And it sounded like everyone was.
Yeah, oh yeah, you already know.
Magic.
You get that girlfriend and Peter the dog in the same room.
Ptie Sickos, we interrupt this episode to bring you Ro.

Say your crack a cold one, man.
I know, I know.
But I crack a cold one very quick.
Jill's birthday is on the 18th,
which is one day before your birthday, the 19th.
Happy birthday, Jill, happy birthday, Will.
Big opportunity for me.
Some listeners that were with us,
if you had started before this first Mother's Day for Jill,
I whiffed, I blew it on Mother's Day.
I could have done way better.
We took notes.
And I'm not going to spoil anything on the show in case Jill listens this week
before her birthday on Friday.
But I got some plans.
Plans that are already in action, things that are already ordered and received at our
house. We're dialed in. We're dialed. We're making up for Mother's Day. And showing her,
honey, this is how I want to celebrate you for the rest of my life. Because I love you. Yeah.
Every day's your birthday. Every day's your birthday, honey. But yeah, that's my crackicle one.
I am very excited. It's happy birthday to Jill. Happy birthday. And happy birthday to Will.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, fellas. Let's get into some shoutouts, shall we?
I got one here from Ryan Zambrick.
Wifey shout out, hey gang.
Ryan from Nashville here,
father of the artist behind the sock puppet dance party,
drawing you guys featured in an early so to the pod.
Wanting to shout out my wife because she's a rock star,
both at home and at work.
September is a hard month for her,
as it was for her mother's birth month.
We lost her mom February of 2019.
Two days before we were going to announce
to the family that we were expecting our first child.
man. Now as a family, we are blessed with two kids, both born in September, and I know it's painful for my wife to show joy for our children and also mourn her mom every year.
Ashley, thank you so much for being such a trooper and a motivator for our children to always be kind and do their best.
To anyone hearing this, know that you're enough. So please stay. September is also suicide prevention month and that hits home with our family and many others around the world.
Stay blessed for the dad's gang. Take out the trash.
And watch your mouth if you don't want your four-year-old son's favorite word to be,
fucker.
Oh, good egg.
Great dad act there at the end.
Good dad,
dad,
good dad,
I have a shout out from,
Jeanne Singh.
She writes in,
Hi for the Dad's team.
I'm writing to share the story of my husband Matthew,
who's been a dedicated listener of For the Dad's podcast since day one.
With his birthday coming up on September 16,
more September birthdays.
You're listening to this episode
on your birthday, Matthew.
Happy birthday, Matt.
Happy birthday.
I wanted to reach out
and thank you for being such a huge part
of his fatherhood journey.
Thank you.
When we were expecting our first son,
Matthew made a massive sacrifice
for our family
and completely upended his routine
by switching to the overnight shift.
It was a huge adjustment,
but it allowed him to be fully present
during the day.
our little boy just turned one on September 4th.
To top it all off, we are currently expecting our second son this coming spring.
Hello, hello.
Because he has turned in since tuned in since your very first episode, your podcast has been his constant companion through the overnight hours.
He is a truly inspiring, he is a truly inspiring dad who always puts family friends.
navigating an upside down, sleep schedule, and now prepping for two under two.
Thank you for creating such an incredible space for fathers.
Your show has truly made a difference in our lives as Matthew navigates the wild world of modern
dad life.
I've included some pictures of him with our son and our family.
Best regards.
Look at Matthew, dude.
Look at Matthew.
Shout out Matthew.
Look at the camel ride.
And shout out Junae, too, for writing in.
and getting that birthday present,
literally perfect timing by her.
Hell yeah.
And if he's listened to us right now overnight,
dude,
happy birthday, man.
Yeah,
happy birthday,
happy birthday,
man.
A couple coupons.
Couple coupons.
A couple coupons.
A shockwave.
Because the one's coming in the spring.
Yes.
Aten Rockney.
What's up,
boys?
Want to give two shoutouts.
One to my brother for life,
Josh.
And the other to my sweet,
beautiful wife.
Rachel. Josh got me hooked on the pod in November not long after I found out my wife was pregnant.
Shout out Josh, bro. That's how you put PT sickos on the pod. Yes, dude. Get him on the team.
He is the father of two and a half year old Kyler, a beast of a father, husband and friend and a
longtime PT sicko. He's been with me to the whole process giving advice and support and I think we need
to hype up our boys more. Second shout out to my amazing wife, Rachel. She absolutely
crushed pregnancy and delivery
and has been putting on an absolute
clinic of what parenthood should look
like ever since. She's the example I constantly
strive to emulate and Bethany
and I are so
unbelievably lucky to have her. Keep making
a smile. Aiden. Shout out Aiden. Shout out Rachel.
Shout out Josh. And shout out the boys more.
I thought that was a good, that was a good
little lesson in there. We got shout our boys
out more. God to shout the boys out
more. Except for Nick. We don't
shout out Nick.
Nick, I'll text you.
I'll text you. We're good. We're good.
Tyler Campbell wrote in.
This is a new dad alert.
He said, hey, boys.
Also, I got to read this subject line.
This is a great subject line.
All caps. New dad alert, West Virginia, P.T. Sicko.
Hey, boys, P.T. Sicko here.
And now a proud first-time dad.
My wife and I welcomed our son, Ford, into the world last Thursday.
on the third at eight pounds, nine ounces, strong, healthy, and loud, and just a dream come true.
Having a son keeps my last name carrying on. Let's go. The last few days have been some of the most overwhelmingly
joyful and yet stressful of my life, but my mom and baby are healthy and happy, and I count
my blessings for that. As a West Virginia fan on Ford's second day of life, we had him decked out in his
Mountaineer gear to kick off the college football season and watch the game together from the
hospital room, our first and absolutely not our last.
Pick attached.
And then take me home, took on the whole, took on a whole new meaning.
The next day, we got to bring Ford home.
And of course, I made sure to rock my, no one is coming to save you shirt from Buston
with theboys.com.
Pick attached.
That shirt was the epitome of exactly what I was feeling.
as we walked out of the hospital, no nurses, no on-call doctors, no safety net, just me and my wife.
And this brand new human that has forever changed our lives for the better.
Overwhelming joy yet terrifying and exactly right all at the same time.
I just wanted to say thank you.
I started listening to the show the day my wife told me that she was pregnant.
And I've listened to every soad and spread the good word to anyone who will listen.
The show genuinely helped me begin to wrap my head.
around what being a dad actually looks like day to day. Somewhere between the sleep deprivation
and diaper blowouts, good. Having your voices in my ear reminding me that everyone feels overwhelmed
at first, but we get to do this has meant more than you probably realize what you are building
with the platform is real. It's helpful and it's appreciated. So thank you for doing it.
Proud new dad, Tyler Campbell from Connecticut. Shout out Tyler, man. Nobody's coming to save you.
directions, no nothing that he talked about.
It is a perfect shirt. BWTB.com. You can go and cop it.
Marshall Morin.
It was with great honor that I write this email.
I've been illicit since day one and have waited nine long months to finally join
Papa Team 6.
Eleanor Morin joined the world September 7th on Labor Day.
Being a dad is better than I could have ever imagined.
Huge shout out to my wife, Claire, because labor is no joke and she crushed it.
Baby Eleanor's big first week keeps getting bigger.
Her first week of NFL football is upon her.
I have one right here ripping a Vikings jersey.
Vikings' dad's favorite team versus Packers' mom's favorite team.
Playing week one to determine her fandom forever.
Have a great week, boys.
Skull.
Because dad won.
Dad won.
Vikings taking down the Packers too.
I was like, oh, come on.
Come on.
Skull vikes.
Carson Wince comes off the bench.
Too easy.
Down the pack, bro.
and poor Kyler, dude.
Hate that for Kyler Murray.
Yeah, I know.
I know.
Tough scene for Kyler Murray.
Yeah.
Tough scene for Kyle.
We got the photo here.
This is from a PT6 community here.
Oh, let's go.
Donnie Ma's on YouTube.
Stevie Mozilla.
Stevie Mozilla from Staten Island checking back in.
Boys before week one running a dad Olympics.
A bunch of dads getting after it, impressing their wives and the crafts learn from the leaders
before entering the man cave.
Events.
changing a doll's diaper with chuckled pudding on it.
A laundry basket themed beer pong shooting with clothes.
Kids lawnmower being put to use in an obstacle course.
A 10-piece kids puzzle followed by a bottle of themed flip cup.
Was pondering if any of the troops had any more events and ideas.
Bro. Donnie Mozarella.
Hey, I want to be in Donnie Mozarella's Mancave, man.
Lord knows what that man cave's like.
That's got to be where to watch the game.
You have any more ideas or events?
God.
Well, I've been seeing the watermelon with the, like, baby oil on it.
Like catching a watermelon with baby oil has been big on social media.
Maybe even putting a diaper on a watermelon that has baby oil on it.
That sounds like that could be kind of hard.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm wondering, too, if there's something where you could, like, get the baby bag going, like, backpacks.
You got to stack it the right way, transfer something over.
Ooh, that is good.
Or like a relay going on, but it has to be like things.
Like the diaper's got to be in the right spot.
The wipes got to be in the right spot.
You know, bottles or whatever on the sides of the backpack.
You got to stuff it the right way.
I don't know how you'd get the fake baby foot.
But dude, little kid boots, man.
You want to talk about something that's impossible, dude.
Oh, I can't get a boot on.
Putting them on.
Oh, my God.
Some of that stuff pisses me off, dude.
And yeah, I got to put my head.
hand on top of the knee and then I'm pushing but she's straightening her let I mean there's no right
way to do like you just sit still please and once you sit still then God knows where I'm pulling on
the boot to then make sure the heel clicks yeah get excited because she's going to get a little
older and she's going to be like no I want to do it oh for the love of God so you're telling him it's
okay to ask for help it's okay to ask for help they want to put it on it's a long foot they're
frustrated. Meltdowns
happen. Yeah. 15
minutes later.
Honey, we're going to be late to the blah, blah,
just let dad do it.
You want to know why? Because dad loves you.
I'm doing this because I love you. Let me do.
And your mom's up my ass right now.
We're going to be late, honey. I don't.
I worry, though.
A.J. Mitchell,
he writes in P.T. Sicko, preseason
All-American. What's up, fellas?
AJ for Michigan here.
I'm a seaman team fucking sicko.
Listening to your podcast makes me so excited to be a dad
and has me prepared to be a PT sicko preseason all-American.
Looking forward to all the daddubs and daddells,
even though I know fatherhood is going to run me over like one shelf
trying to meet Blake Quorum in the A gap.
Go blue and keep it under an hour.
And I'll read that last part.
Did you catch that last one?
No, because I'm reading this.
one from Jordan Hague.
And he's taking a shot at me from mowing the lawn.
No.
A.J. Mitchell took a shot at you too.
What the hell is AJ saying?
The father is going to run over him like one shelf meeting Blake Corrim and the
A guy.
What is this guy saying?
Target practice?
Jordan Hag.
Boys wanted to warn the community about the PT6 merch.
The wife and I have been trying for another trial for over a year and a half.
It was very frustrating, mentally drained us,
month after month, high hopes,
getting crushed time and time again by negative results.
Fast forward a couple months ago,
I decided this day,
one listener finally needed some PT6 gear,
especially after getting my shout-out on the soad.
I got a PT6 hat along with a re-write-at-dawn shirt
because unlike Will,
I like that one.
This Missouri boy moses lawn,
which is so uncalled for.
Like, I've mowed my lawn, damn it.
And when you do,
you're using Gravely. Shout out Gravely. Shout out Gravely, man. Get you a lot more at Gravely.
What are they doing, Will?
Dude, I don't know. But guess what? A couple weeks out to receive it is receiving their merch and wearing the hell out of it.
Woke up one morning surprise. Wifee pregnant. Could not be more excited. First ultrasound comes in.
Twins. Oh.
Twins.
So if you're looking for PT6 merch and you're in Bud's training, that's breeding until dad status for new listeners.
Yep.
Maybe stick with just a hat or get two hats and put a few more bows on it.
Oh.
Pray for the wife,
you and I as we get prepared to meet Aaron Donald and Miles Garrett in the A Gap in April.
As always, love the pod.
You boys keep up the good work.
Jordan Haag.
Oh, he has in parentheses.
H-A-U-G-E is the pronunciation.
What's that?
H-A-G-U-E?
The pronunciation of that didn't help differentiate from the spelling.
That confuses me more.
The spelling's H-A-A-G and the pronunciation.
pronunciation is H-A-U-G-E.
Hey, he's a Missouri boy.
Yeah.
He's got to screw loose.
He's probably from Potosi.
And then we're going to find out that it's Hage.
I spelled it out for you.
Hey.
It's Hajj.
It's Hajj.
It's Hage.
Jacob Clay wrote in, North Carolina, DMV hates PT6.
This is breaking news.
Wait.
Hates P-T-6?
North Carolina, DMV hates PT-6.
And he writes, well, boys, I'm pissed.
I recently moved from Washington to North Carolina.
That's a hell of a move.
And realize I had to get my car registered in North Carolina.
And what better time to rep for the dads than a PT sicko license plate?
I went in, spent half my life savings on registering my car and custom plate, $600.
He put a throw-up emoji and walked out with a huge smile knowing I'm reppping the PT sickos everywhere I went.
This is actually kind of sick.
Until today, I get this steaming pile of shit in the mail.
What do I even do with this?
Do I try again and attach a sticky note to my application for the same plate?
Explain that I'm just a proud motherfucking PT sicko that wants to rep the community?
Or do I let them win?
Serious conundrum here, boys.
Now I have the official...
You need answers.
You need a...
You got to go to what is the DMV?
So the DMV said,
The division has received your request for personalized license plate text P.T. Sicko.
And he spelled it with the six.
The plate text is declined based on the division's policy.
Policy regarding that the division motor vehicles must not issue a personalized plate
that will interfere with the law enforcement efforts or that a reasonable person would,
considering all reasonable contacts, find it to be obscene.
or offensive.
You got to walk in the DMV.
You got to just hold your hand up until someone asks like, do you need something?
Yeah, I need to talk to whoever's ready, whoever is ready to enter the A gap.
You go in the A gap.
And it sounds like we have a good solve here.
Yeah.
Pt-sixers.
P-T-Sixers.
Is it the Ico?
Yeah, is it the echo?
Is that what we're talking about?
What's offensive about the license plate?
Couldn't tell you.
you. Pt. Sixer seems like a fix.
Shockwave. Shockwave?
I had another theory in there. It, um, the end of that Sherman says,
considering all reasonable context, fine to be obscene. This is for a reasonable person.
Fine to be obscene, offensive, indecent, or conflicting with a current plate series.
My theory is the DMV is putting out their own line of for the dad's license plates.
And that's why this guys didn't get approved, obviously.
Quite the conundrum.
But there are solves.
There are solves.
It feels like there are solves.
If it's the echo, I don't understand what's obscene, what was it?
Obscene, disgusted.
Decent.
Indecent.
Obscure.
What does obscure mean?
Yeah.
P.T. Sicko seems so locked in.
And, I mean, one thing that I have heard is that you need for the license registration or
plates, sometimes they want more numbers on there.
So then it's like, okay, PT6,
I becomes a 1, and then the O in Sicko
becomes a 0.
Like maybe that's to solve.
But even then, I'm like, because then it's almost like,
that's not even a, like, if a cop's reading that out,
they're saying PT61,
uh, yeah, PT61,
K0.
out.
Yeah, what's wrong with that?
That sounds like a good solve.
It seems like there are options on the table.
There are.
Jacob, you will get those plates, brother.
And I hope they refund them, at least, for the...
A refund for your personalized license plate has been issued,
but Chef had a better concept.
Oh, ooh.
How sick would it be if he gets a PT6 license plate,
gets pulled over for speeding?
And the cop goes, I was going to give you a ticket,
but I just saw something.
do you watch for the dad's podcast?
How insane.
That's like a back-the-blue sticker.
I mean, basically same concept.
That would be the ultimate write-in email call-in of all time.
That would be peak.
Oh, yeah.
The boys I got one for you.
Out here in New Hampshire.
Uh-huh.
You're going about 20 over.
And I saw the plates.
You're just getting a warning today.
He ain't getting a ticket.
You tell a one shelf, old fat staff, tell them I say, hey, be like, oh my God.
That's epic.
Then you ask, is it okay if I drop a comment talking about this story?
Yeah, just change my name or something.
Yeah, just don't put my name in.
Yeah, you good, man.
I'm going to ride in too, so hopefully they rebuilt the bars.
Let me get your number, man.
Let me stay in touch.
Oh.
We got that one.
Yeah, I do have PT fit as well.
Go ahead, Ripin.
We'll get into calls.
This one's actually very fun.
This comes from Brad Tannis.
Brad says, I'm turning 40 on September 20th.
40 on 420.
Let's go.
And my wife and I have our first kid on the way.
I've been working on getting in better shape before the little guy comes
and have been struggling finding a good workout playlist.
This is where we come in will.
I think you guys should create an official PT-fit,
playlist. Maybe you each pick a song to add to it each week for a while and then it builds
the playlist out. I'm not against that. I'm not against that either. It's so easy to do on Spotify.
Number one, I'll just get in on Spotify. I'll type until I collapse by Eminem. And then I just let Spotify
kind of do its thing until I collapse. What comes after that? I was about to say this might be a dream
dream case scenario for Will Compton.
Yeah, I can add songs to the list.
When we, we've got some bangers out there that I rip in the garage.
Will did the hype videos for Nebraska for the last two years, like the pre-kickoff hype videos.
And, uh, chef has helped at time with those.
Deke has helped, uh, do audio for those a couple times.
But we filmed them right here in studio and we'll sneak over to the side.
and we'll film Will where you basically just yell at a camera for a solid like 45 second video,
but it's probably about an hour worth of filming.
And to get yourself high some of the songs that you play in here before we ever start recording,
you just start throwing on like hair metal, heavy metal, 80s, 70s.
You get the classic rock.
You have this easy top.
Yes.
You have a workout playlist in your bones, brother.
Yeah.
Man.
Hey, the Huskers look good this year.
Now, I swear to God.
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,
I'm only doing this because I know that your other half,
Taylor LeWan, would want me to do this.
We got to wait.
We got to wait.
I can still be excited.
Like them.
I like this team.
Yeah.
Yeah, I like this team.
I know it's one game at a time.
It's one game at a time.
I just know how I can get very excited for you.
And I can feed the fire.
And I think out of respect for Taylor,
he would want me to not feed it too much.
I feel like everybody's trying to just suppress my fandom.
Is that the same Taylor,
the one that said don't tread on fandom?
Same Taylor of one that's like,
that's spoken what?
About 90 minutes.
over the last couple of weeks.
I just want to make sure it's the same guy.
And I have,
I have no issue.
I don't know,
Sherm.
I have no issue with the fandom.
The stuff that's coming out of my mouth isn't,
we're going to the college football playoff.
It's what I've seen on film.
Yes.
And who I think we could clip this year,
potentially,
is what I'm talking about.
I'm talking about just the ball I've watched.
The finish from the offensive linemen.
Because the Buckeyes are going to Lincoln,
Nebraska, I'm pretty sure. Right. I'm not here to talk about Ohio State. Okay.
I'm just saying what I've watched. Alex Calandria, decisive, some fire,
Jamal Rule, Malik, not Malachi, Tony, what am I, Mackay Nelson. Mackay Nelson in the backfield.
We got some receivers, man. We got a whole line that they are finishing people. Luke Lindenmeyer.
Indiana has to go to Lincoln, Nebraska? Indiana does. Indiana is a very good football team.
Okay.
It's tough.
You're not going to see me sit here and talk shit about Signetti or anything about that program.
I'm just saying I like the boys in red right now.
And all I'm saying is an undefeated season for Indiana, repeat, you know, undefeated regular season.
That road leads right into Lincoln, Nebraska.
You got to go through.
You got to go through Lincoln, Nebraska.
And I do believe the Huskies from Washington, they'll be in Lincoln, Nebraska.
I've heard tell.
Huskies don't look that solid this year.
Not solid as Nebraska.
We just got to keep stacking weeks.
Yes.
And what I feel like I need to do just on my own
when I'm watching film over there
is I just record my own videos
about plays that I'm seeing
that I'm fired up about.
To give to the public
because right now it feels like I'm getting suppressed.
It feels like I'm getting Facebooked.
Yes.
And you,
they're trying to, what's the word
that they're trying to put guardrails around me?
Well, and you tell me.
Yeah, they're trying to muzzle me.
And I'm just thinking,
what are we talking?
about.
You tell me right now, I'm being, this is a little bit.
I've talked to more Tennessee football with chef than I ever get words out with the
Huskers.
Yes.
And this is somewhat of a bit, but it's also real.
I want you to hear me right now.
Do you want me to feed the flame throughout the rest of the season?
Only if you're watching the games.
Okay.
Like if you're actually watching the,
or Anthony Calandria, a big 10 offensive player the week over the weekend.
Yeah.
You saw that.
I saw that. I did not watch y'all's game. I didn't watch y'all's game. Go to one of my last
suites. I hit it about 10.50 last night. 10.50 p.m. last night. Okay. It's just some of the highlights
of the Huskers last week. And I know it was Bowling Green. It's not even fucking about that. I swear to God,
it's not about that. Shout out Bowling Green. Shout out Bowling Green. I'm supportive.
Thank you, chef. You are in a spot that I feel sometimes where it's like our teams,
we tend to get really excited about them
and we're like oh maybe like you start to get some hope
and then in the past we get ripped down
because of our teams
and it puts it in a tough spot and I think everyone
knows how excited you get
and they worry about
Nebraska ripping you down
however as a Tennessee fan I say
fuck them go all in
because I was the same way going in Tennessee season
I watch this play to nobody
I'm in Georgia Tech
and I'm starting to get the itch
that when Texas comes in the town in two weeks
we're going to beat the shit out of them.
So there are times of our Tennessee fans,
I feel higher on Tennessee that they're allowing themselves
to be right now.
And I'm like, bro, you guys should be excited about this offense.
I haven't watched them much.
I haven't broke down their defense that much.
I know we're getting completely off the rails
before the dead's podcast.
No, all good.
Two picks against Georgia Tech, Mendoza.
Good Georgia Tech team, though.
I watch that game.
That's a good Georgia Tech team
They're missing a few pieces
To be like really good
Good, that ain't a good Georgia tech team
Brickie's got to be so pissed off
They're not physical
They're not playing
Brickie
Colorado
Yeah
Come on man
Yeah
But we don't know how good Colorado is
Not yet
Dionne was giving a hell of a post game
speech about like that shit
Should be good enough
You all aren't pros
You all aren't killers
Yeah
They won like by 30
And Dion was ripping them
Yeah
That's what I'm just saying
It's not a bad Georgia Tech.
We got to hit.
We have to hit the voicemails because I got to get into some film breakdown.
Do you know why we have to this week?
Tell me why.
Or sorry, why we get to.
Dad Collins, of course, they're presented by our good friends at Gravely.
Shout out Gravely.
This segment is brought to us by Gravely.
Let's get into our dad call-ins this week.
First one is titled P.T. Sicko.
What up, boys. It's Willis from Nashville.
taking my son to daycare right now last week of our mornings together before we switch up the morning routine next week.
And mommy starts taking him to daycare, but we were just starting our day with the podcast.
And buddy, what did you say a second ago?
Can you say it a little bit louder?
Say it real loud.
Say it louder.
Bec de sicko.
Becicco.
Beattie sicko.
Rise and shine, boys.
Let's have a good one.
Let's go, Willis.
Let's go.
PTCS to go!
That's awesome.
That's a wholesome call in.
That's all time.
Oh, man.
And right here in our own backyard, man, Nashville, Tennessee.
I know.
God, what daycare are they going to?
I want to join in.
Trash Day.
Dad hug.
Good morning, boy.
Heather for as really Wednesday.
Maggie.
Call it in with the dad.
It's the grandma they called in.
And you said the.
team name for the grandparents was saggy team six.
Yeah, let's go, dude.
That my dad did, and it worked, and I'm telling you it worked until this day.
So love and logic, great, great book by Jim Fay to read, great ideas, tips, and tricks.
However, as a kid, premise to the lesson is you make choices and there's consequences.
Well, my sister and I would be fighting and we'd run in our rooms and slam our doors and slam our doors.
And instead of yelling, my dad simply got it up, took the doors off the hinges, took the doors to the basement.
And you can imagine not having a door in your room, not cool.
But in fitting with the show as well, one of the jobs my sister and I had was to take out the trash,
take it to the curb on Mondays.
Well, we forgot and we forget.
And we keep forgetting.
So what did my dad do?
Brought the trash cans into our rooms, took off the lids.
And throughout the week, you come empty the trash in our rooms.
Who it was if we took it out of our room or put the lid on it,
we would have to do it again for another week.
I'm telling you, I have not forgotten the trash to this day.
Just a great dagger hat for you guys.
Appreciate what you guys are doing.
Willie one shelf, fat Stafford, vegan chef.
Appreciate everything you do.
Great, great show.
Great plot, guys.
Legend Team 6 out.
Is she saying Legend Team 6?
Legend Team 6.
Dude, that a calling is awesome.
Great calling.
That's a future dad hack.
Because I can't have that dad hack in my life now
because it's just the wife.
It's my wife bringing the trash can in the room.
It's their punishing me, which I love, you know.
I got to get on my shit sometimes with the trash.
Oh, man.
I think God my trash day got moved to Monday.
I love a good Monday trash day.
I've been doing pretty well with this Monday trash day.
What day is yours?
Mine's Wednesday morning.
So I ask people listen to the show, it's all it's trash day on Wednesday morning.
That's right.
I need to go Tuesday nights.
Yeah.
And see Sunday.
Because I'm always rushing on Wednesday morning.
I'm like sprinting down to the curb because I'm like, I'm running behind right now.
Yes.
I just need to do.
I need to make a full transition.
Sunday night's been the greatest thing to ever happen to me.
It's just such a great reminder.
I see all the other ones out on Sunday night because it's just kind of an easier day to remember.
It's a slower day.
It's a cleaning day.
It's like I kind of lucked into it.
Yeah.
Love that hack though.
Love that hack from Saggy Team Six, from Legend Team Six.
From Legend Team Six.
And I love that she just enjoys it.
That is the Doddhawk.
Carry an umbrella.
What up boys?
I got a little dad-agged here.
Hey man, carry an umbrella in the truck.
Alright.
It's raining like a son of a bitch out here.
And my daughter does not want to get out of the truck.
She's like, Daddy, I'm gonna get wet.
And I said, baby, don't you worry.
I got an idea. I got a little trick of my sleeve.
So I get out the truck, pop open the umbrella,
and she's ear to ear grinning.
She knows she's not about to get wet.
Hey, sharing an umbrella in the truck, boys.
I forgot.
This is Jesse, by the way.
Check it later.
Now, Jesse, what kind of truck are you driving?
Because I can hear that truck in the background.
He's got a little...
Hopefully it's a Ford.
Come on.
Come on.
The way the blinker was blinking, it sounded like a Ford.
What kind of truck you driving, Jesse?
What kind of little trick you got, boy?
Pack an umbrella.
Pack an umbrella.
Pack an umbrella.
All right.
And that does it for our dad Collins this week.
Our dad Collins, of course, are presented by Gravely.
Click the link in the description below of this episode to find your Gravely member.
You want to hit an email?
Yeah.
I will rock this email from Rich.
Molanero.
Boys, happy football season.
To all go birds, dad too here in the Philadelphia area.
And I had to share my dad lost, turned when, turned lessen of the month.
I sit here on a Friday night silently in the trenches.
Wife is away at the girls' weekend at a beach.
Both boys, four-year-old and nine-month-old, tucked in tight for the night.
And I have the quiet house to myself.
This is typically time I'd have some college football on and be in my PT-fit zone.
However, about a month ago, about a month ago, I suffered a concussion.
It was a self-inflicted wound, which made the pain emphasize even more.
And it's really knocked me off my game.
I was at a 500-plus-day Peloton streak of either cycling, lifting, walking, or stretching every day.
And since then, it's been sporadic to say the least.
And as much as an injury pain remains, the ego bruise was even more.
luckily as I laid in my dark basement off of work during my initial recovery, regretting missing time with the wife and boys.
I heard a podcast clip with my favorite Peloton instructor and college game day reporter Jess Sims that truly spoke to me.
I love an injury and I know that sounds crazy, but it's information.
It's part of the process.
It's time for you to learn something about your body and maybe your mind.
I get so many DMs, what do I do?
And I'm like, read a book, figure out why that happened.
Let's figure out where the dysfunction is so you can be better for your body and learn from this.
Try to spend as little time in the suffering phase of fighting what is and move more into the acceptance phase because it's all happening to you.
He drops the link here to click on on YouTube.
This is exactly what I needed to hear.
I'm so worried about self-imposed streaks and deadlines getting down on myself when really I should just take this time to evaluate, assess the situation and develop a plan of attack to come out of.
to come out of this stronger,
to come out of this a stronger man
physically and more devoted man
as both a husband and their dad.
So to my fellow PT-Sixers,
let go of those self-imposed burdens
and attempt to be the version of yourself,
whatever that looks like every day.
Appreciate you, Willie, Sherm,
and especially the boys in the back
for the weekly laughs, feedback sessions
and community you've built.
Rich.
It's a great email.
That was a great email.
That was a good email.
Do you have an email?
Do you have an email?
What's go through your mind?
I do have an email.
I was thinking about my left quad.
I honestly was thinking about my left quad.
Peter Tantillo.
Peter says to the whole for the dad's team,
both in front and the camera and behind it.
My name is Peter from Pennsylvania.
Relatively new PT-Sixer starting around episode 35,
first-time commenter.
and I am 100% battling in the trenches.
This is a sad alert, crack a cold one, lesson of the day, and dad hack wrapped into one.
You can call it the whole, it's the whole package.
I have two boys, one who's turning one next week on 913.
Happy belated birthday.
My Agap stud, Theo Jude, weighing almost 27 pounds.
And my oldest Luca, Luca Anthony, turning three.
October. Just over a year ago, I got blindsided and let go from my dream job of teaching
agriculture to students with no real reason provided. My first words to my wife, fighting through
my tears on my drive home, where I'm sorry I failed you and the family. My world was turned upside
down. I was feeling down on myself and struggling to keep afloat. I felt the shame and guilt of trying to
balanced work, family, hobbies, etc. My relationship with my wife was in turmoil. We were at an all-time
low questioning how to continue together and contemplating divorce. My struggle was communicating
and being there was at an all-time low. We were hostile and resentful toward one another for many
other reasons and I was just angry at the world and myself. I had some very dark thoughts and choices
to make. I did not know where to turn. I grew up in a
unstable household where it was not safe to talk about my feelings. The unnecessary pressure to hold
a divorced family together and take care of my younger brother started to show an adulthood.
The issues I saw growing up were starting to have glimpses in my life now. Not knowing what to do
or how to open up and talk about my struggles, I started to catch some of your clips on Facebook.
I was able to find a new job in the fall, which requires longer drives throughout the week.
It took only one episode on Spotify to get hooked and buy into the community.
I have done my part to share with my other dad friends, husbands, and friends who are just in relationships with the community and inspiration.
You all, they are just as into the relationships in the community and the inspiration that we provide.
I have brought other dad's merch for holidays, shared clips, and helped grow the community.
I've lived my life as someone who goes with the flow
and doesn't overly care too much about things
but the podcast put those actions into words
with embracing the chaos.
I've used this often and keep it in the back of my mind
all the time to keep me grounded.
For example, it does not matter that my oldest was so excited
and wanted to ride all the carnival rides at the fair.
So we spent $45 on an all-you-can-ride bracelet
for him to ride $9 worth
and then throw a tantrum and want to go home. Good.
Youngest gets an ear infection on our first family weekend vacation. Good.
Second family summer vacation weeks later gets another ear infection with a maximum of three hours
of sleep each night for six days straight. Good. The words you say in culture you have all
created have changed me and saved my family. The crack a cold one moment recently was when the
my oldest said, I love my family. Growing up in a broken house with separated parents and no true
support system as a child, all I want to do in life is give my boys the things I didn't have.
Those things are a uniform, safe home where they feel loved every day. I question myself daily,
am I good enough? Am I being there for them? Do they feel safe? My fear is that I will repeat what
has happened to me. I remember Sherman, when you got upset with yourself, when Evie the
brave first appeared on the show, you cried saying your hard times were nothing compared to those.
Everyone has their own battles, their own crises, and their own hardships. In that moment,
they have their own hardships that are difficult in the moments that they happen. Each one of us
has things we are battling that no one else is going through, which holds enough value to be hard.
My struggles of not having a great idol or father figure growing up, being recently unemployed for
eight months, and having a marriage falling apart in my bubble are my low and my struggle.
I try to remind myself the things you all share and preach.
You are all great fathers and supporters of one another and truly inspirational.
There are things as a father that are non-negotiable, like locking in when your family needs you
and knowing that no one is coming to save you in some moments.
Lesson alert.
For fathers out there and trying and struggling moments, it does not mean you are alone.
This podcast helps shed light on the struggles and highlights of fatherhood.
Find another dad close to you and say it out loud, you are never alone.
We are in it together.
To wrap it up and share the wealth
My
Share the wealth my
To wrap it up and share the wealth
My dad hack is for
Dad's
I'm so sorry guys
No I'm just trying to get the sentence
structure of it
To wrap it up and share the wealth
Thank you
My dad hack is for dads of a single child
or dads of multiple kids
The hack that helped me assess chaotic
situations, triage cries between kids and help the wife out is popping the bottle up on top of a
blanket or pillow and the swing or car seat for the baby to drink. This allows you to free up your
hands and clean the dishes, deal with other kids, deal with the other child, or just give you a
second to go to the bathroom. It is an honor to be a part of this group and thank you, Will Sherman,
and everyone behind the scenes.
Peter Tadillo.
Peter, thank you, man.
And Peter, I'm so sorry I butchered the end of that.
That was a fantastic email.
You're good, yeah.
Got to just got to slip the comma in there.
It slipped a lot.
Sometimes it can throw you off.
Yeah.
And appreciate your words on the, like, everybody has their lows.
Like, I feel like he was saying, you know,
don't compare and despair even with, like, the lows.
like everybody faces hardships and we're all on it together.
No doubt.
I thought was a great message.
I love the vibe too where he's giving everybody the experience of some of the things he's going through.
And you can tell too, he's also like writing to himself a little bit.
Yeah, yeah.
So I love that.
I have a lesson to sign us off.
And this is just a fun one.
This is just a fun tweet from Jake Kozlowski on Twitter.
I just thought this was a funny one.
Marry someone you'd enjoy running a small, poorly funded summer camp with.
That's most of the job.
That's fantastic.
Yeah.
I thought that was great.
That's fantastic.
Carmel apple, hollipop, and ice cream.
Absolutely incredible.
Unreal.
Don't forget to take out of your trash.
We love you.
We'll see you next week.
