This show isn’t about expert advice and how fatherhood is the greatest thing on earth—it’s about embracing the love and suck of parenthood every day. From balancing work and family to battling the mental load, fears, and the moments that wreck you in the best way, we dive into it all with honesty, vulnerability, and a sense of humor. Cause at the end of the day... us dads have no idea what we're doing.   Alongside Will is his producer Sherman Young, a recently new father who’s currently deep in the trenches of Fatherhood and loving every minute of it. Together, they’ll break down everything that can go right and wrong (...usually wrong) when you bring tiny humans into this world.   Expect funny parenting stories, laughs, call-ins, advice, weekly themes, and the kind of conversations you’d have over a cold beer in the garage. Whether you’re raising teens or still Googling “how to install a car seat”, For the Dads is the ultimate podcast for dads who are in it, about to be in it, or just trying to do their best while screwing it up along the way.   -----   FOLLOW THE BOYS Instagram:   / Forthedadspod  Twitter:   / Forthedadspod Facebook:   / Forthedadspod TikTok: / Forthedadspod   LISTEN iTunes: http://bit.ly/BWTB_Apple Spotify: http://bit.ly/BWTB_Spotify   ----- LUCY : LUCY is the only pouch that delivers long lasting, on demand flavor. He gets right up next to the microphone. I hear you can almost hear the eyelashes hit each other. You never seen. Italy's so quiet as when the Pope gets up to wink on Halloween.

Couple dads in the garage, drinking some olipop, talking war stories, ups, downs, everything in between. This is not an expert show on how to be a dad.
Starting point is 00:02:56 We just talk like a couple of dads hanging out with the Papa Team 6 community. We feature a lot of our community members on the show. If you want a chance to be featured on the show, all you got to do is write in. We're on all the socials at Ford the Dad's Pod. We read comments religiously on this show. Starting point is 00:03:30 but you want to reach out to For the Dads. For the Dad's Gmail. Wait. What is it? 601 The Dads at Gmail.com. Is it 6.1.1. The Dads at Gmail.com? We just changed it to 6.0.
Starting point is 00:03:47 Sorry, we did. We changed it on you. It was For the Dads pod. We just changed it right now to 601. The Dads. That's on me, man. 601. The Dads at Gmail.com.
Starting point is 00:03:57 You can also call in the voicemails. We highlight voicemails. We highlight call-ins. That's 6-01. so won the dad's. Leave a voicemail. Yeah. That is a perfect. That was a perfect.
Starting point is 00:04:10 That's dad brain. Yeah, that's dad brain. Where's the creatine gummies? We need more. We need more create. Truly, like, shout out, create. We went through these. No free shout out to create. No free shout out to create. Oh, they're gone? They're gone. We got it.
Starting point is 00:04:25 Dad brain's real, man. We got to get some more. And Willie C. Just at the very, very top, the dad brain, some are saying it's only going to get worse with your 37 years of age. Do we have some? They're dry, I'll take them though.
Starting point is 00:04:40 Oh, no, Will. They're not bad. You know you have to put a lid on it. They say it's only going to get worse with 37 years of age. We wanted to wish Will a happy birthday, a belated happy birthday on the pod. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:05:02 And have a little gift for you. It's inside of this sweater. I'll toss you the sweater. I wrapped it very nicely for you. Sweater's a banger, bwtb.com. Bwtv.com. What you got here? Shut up.
Starting point is 00:05:22 94, 95 back to back, baby. And a lot of people are saying it's starting to feel a little like 94.95. We don't want to get to do far into it. But it is starting to feel like 94, 95 all over again. Some can throw in 97. I do. And I had a little help from, I want to give a special shout out to Justin Williams. He is a PT sicko. He messaged me months ago.
Starting point is 00:05:50 Found that in a store. He said, I think it could only go to one guy. We got to get this to Willie C. I said, Justin, I would love to go in on it for you. And so he shipped it to me. I paid him back. so it's really a gift from Justin Williams and myself. By the way, this is a phenomenal gift.
Starting point is 00:06:07 For those that are just listening right now, I'm not watching it on YouTube. It is a Huskers jersey. 94 on the front, 95 on the back. Last name, National. And underneath the 95, it says champions. I actually have a follow-up right here from Chase Cunningham. At Bold City Coast to Coast.
Starting point is 00:06:25 This is on YouTube. The boys having to bring Will back down to earth whenever he goes into his fandom for Nebraska is the funniest ongoing joke of the bus to the point where when I hear him say it, I'm like, oh, God, somebody, please stop him. Look, I like this football team. We're going into Michigan State this weekend. We're going to beat their candy asses. We're going to run the ball.
Starting point is 00:06:45 We're going to throw the ball. We're going to do whatever we want to do to the Spartans. And after we win on the road first conference game, you'll start to hear the hype come a little bit more. If I didn't already lay out some hype right there. All I'm saying is I like this football team. We're not going to get too high. We're not going to get too low.
Starting point is 00:07:00 And what broke my... Spread right now, minus five and a half. Go ahead and take it. Go ahead and take it. And hey, what broke my heart was hearing Willie C. Then after our episode last week, he started walking around the office and he started saying that he's being shadow banned.
Starting point is 00:07:14 By our office. I'm being suppressed. He's being suppressed. He's being shadow banned. And you gave me a look that was like, et two Brutei. Like, what are you doing? You were my guy.
Starting point is 00:07:25 And I knew that I had that in the holster. And I was like, I need to feed into the number. Nebraska. I need to feed into it. Best birthday gift? I don't know. It's in the running. I don't know. My wife got me set up with some film study at the house. She actually, so her gift to me on my birthday was a, it's this Nebraska Cornhuskers book of all the newspaper headlines. Like dating back back in the day.
Starting point is 00:07:51 Roll the decks in there. Of all the newspaper headlines from the Washington Post, maybe. Okay. But yeah, all the newspaper. paper clippings and headlines. This Nebraska. I mean, in front of the kids, too. But wife, you got it.
Starting point is 00:08:05 Wife, you got it set up. Dude, it was a good birthday weekend. Yeah. Before we get into the birthday weekend, do we have some, some other housekeeping items? Some housekeeping right here. Childhood, Cancer Awareness Month
Starting point is 00:08:19 in the month of September. Shout out Dylan Payne. Shout out Evie the Bray. But we have these shirts up right now, bwtb.com. 100% of net proceeds. If you buy this shirt in our store online, line 100% of net proceeds is going to Alex's lemonade stand and we are also matching every
Starting point is 00:08:35 dollar that we do raise. We've had several bought but go shop to you drop, go support Charlie Cancer Awareness month in the month of September. That's the big, it's a big shout out. Big reminder for everybody out there that taps in the fore the dad's spot. Did you see Will before we get to Sherm's comment, Evie attended her first Huskers game? I saw that. I saw that. She had the headphones on. She was rocking in Memorial Stadium. People like, oh, Willie C. Where's the hype videos before the game? I know I've let some Husker fans down by not having those videos go out. Busy season right now.
Starting point is 00:09:09 Busy season. Not saying they're out, you know, not saying they're out. Never say never. Okay. Videos are shadow banned in the stadium, maybe. Maybe everybody's shadow banning Willie C from his Husker fandom. And that's all right. That's a good place to be.
Starting point is 00:09:24 They know that you love them. Yeah. I have a write-in on the topic with Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. This comes from Nick Hayden. This is a really cool ride-in and story from one of our PT sickos that decided to reach out to us just because of us helping tell the story of Evie the Brave. He wanted to share a little bit of his own experience with childhood cancer. Back in 2014, his now sister-in-law, Megan, was diagnosed with stage four. I'll give it my best
Starting point is 00:09:57 shot. Alviolar Rabdo myosarcoma he said in parentheses, good luck with that one Willie boy otherwise known as ARMS. Megan was just 14 years old. This was also around the time my now wife and I started dating.
Starting point is 00:10:16 I got to witness firsthand what childhood cancer can do to a family but I also got to see the incredible difference, a strong community can make when a family is going through the worst moments of their lives. Unfortunately, after more than seven years of fighting, Megan passed away in 2022, but she did, but before she did, Megan accomplished some truly incredible things. She traveled to Washington, D.C. to speak about the fact that childhood cancer research receives only 4% of federal cancer research funding.
Starting point is 00:10:49 She visited children across the country, inspiring them to keep fighting. She raised more than a million dollars herself and helped fully fund two research labs in Portland, Oregon, dedicated to finding better treatments and ultimately beating childhood cancer. After Megan passed, my father-in-law started the Megan's Mission Foundation to continue her fight and carry on the legacy throughout the entire battle. Her dad was right there beside her. During one of the most difficult periods of my wife's family has ever faced, I got a front row seat to what being an amazing father looks like. My father-in-law was not only running our school district as superintendent,
Starting point is 00:11:28 but he also made sure to never miss his daughter's games or performances. He made dinner. He went to doctor's appointments. He had sleepovers with his girls. He did all the little things that a great dad does. Even while his family was facing something, no family should ever have to endure. He taught me more lessons during the most difficult time of his life than he.
Starting point is 00:11:50 probably realizes to this day. I still take every opportunity I can to learn from him, especially now as my wife and I get ready to welcome our own daughter in November. Hearing Evie's story from her dad Dylan immediately reminded me of my father-in-law. Dylan, I don't know you and I don't know Evie, but I do know what it looks like when a dad refuses to stop fighting for his daughter. You're both badasses. And I have no doubt, Megan is looking out for you guys. Love you boys. keep up the great work. And as always, fuck childhood cancer. Hashtag more than four.
Starting point is 00:12:25 And that's in reference to the 4% of federal spending dollars on cancer research, going to childhood cancer. That's Nick from Wisconsin. Nick, thank you for the message. Thank you for the right end. And very, thank you for sharing the story. And that was also very sweet of you to reach out and tell Dylan how much him and the family's been fighting for Evie.
Starting point is 00:12:46 I started to feel it in my nose. Oh, dude. I started to feel it in my nose a little bit. I fought that really, really hard. And it's also, I know that his words, I don't want to speak for Nick, but I feel like his words go out to any listeners of this pod that are facing or have loved ones facing childhood cancer.
Starting point is 00:13:06 You're all badass this, dude, truly. Yeah, I can only imagine, man. You want to hit some follow-ups? Follow us from the last week's episode. We had a little choking scare with Scott Zilla. And I will say Milk Team 6 APR report. APR, Charo Laf. She thought it was a fun episode.
Starting point is 00:13:25 She thought the energy was good. She was laughing a lot of the episode. Okay, good. So we had a good follow up. I did. Before the episode came out, I told her, I kind of told her what was, what was, okay, good. I said, yeah, I just, sweet I just got to be honest with you.
Starting point is 00:13:39 I didn't tell you, but Scotty had a little bit of a choking scare. Yeah. And last week, at the Luan birthday party. No better dad hack than, I think it is a dad hack is delivering bad news to your wife via podcast. Yeah. Because it is come in handy for myself. So any dads out there, just start a podcast. No one even has to listen to it.
Starting point is 00:14:03 It's supposed to post anything you don't want to tell your wife in person. Just send it to us. Hey, yeah. We just get a bunch of write-ins next week or voice smells like, hey, I mean, wanting to tell my wife, this can't do it. I'm just going to do it through your guys' a show. God's all the wife. I can't build the lawn on Saturday. I'm going to Brandon's first birthday.
Starting point is 00:14:24 Can you tell wife me? Oh my gosh. This one here is from Nick's, or Nick C9 Sicko on YouTube. How nasty. You got to get the D-choker and keep one in the car. I got them for my daughter's preschool one, one for the house and one for each of our cars.
Starting point is 00:14:44 Oounce of, or ounce of prevention. is worth a pound of cure. Oh. A little bar there from old Nikki Sicko. Let's go. Nathan Hoskins, 7689, on YouTube says, no way Shirm wanting to take a puppy home, but sent his other dogs four states away with his parents.
Starting point is 00:15:03 Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. Hey, bro, I was seeing some of those comments where it's like, what the hell is Shirm talking about? He just shipped his two dogs to the state of Texas and saying, like, oh, they would have got another puppy last week. And they did not let, they commented before I came back on and prefaced that that would have been the wifie. Not me. That would have been the wifey.
Starting point is 00:15:25 Bring up the idea of sending them down to Texas. Yeah. So in no way she would have went back and got herself another puppy. Hey, listen, Willie C. That's what I'm talking about. That's what I've been screaming. And how has it been going? Like are the dogs, are they on vacation right now?
Starting point is 00:15:41 Dude, update on the dogs actually. They are thriving in Texas. They, as far as like being at a house that they're used to with the backyard that they're used to, we're just getting face times from grandma all the time because she wants to see Scarlet, obviously. But then she's also giving us updates on the dogs. And there's just way more to do. There's way more life. There's way more wildlife.
Starting point is 00:16:06 They're basically, they have a doggy door. They get to zip in and out all day. They're not behind some baby gate all day. So it has been really good of like cementing in my mind of, dude, the dogs are just absolutely ripping at Gammy's house. They're allowed to sleep in the bed at Gammy's house. They can run in and out of the doors. There's possums on the telephone wires that Wrigley loves to bark at all throughout the night. So it was the right move.
Starting point is 00:16:35 It was the right move. Dude, and good for them. Like they went to a Super Bowl team. You know what I mean? They got out of their shit situation. and now they're thriving. Yes. Like, man, I bet coach misses us right now,
Starting point is 00:16:47 but we are way better off out here. Way better off. And the, dude, the human food that they're getting, they don't get human food with us. I know Gamby's sneaking some human food to him. What the hell? We've been missing out on this shit. What a dog,
Starting point is 00:17:01 what a dog shit place we were at the time before. I'm serving a Jill suck. We should have been in Gambies the whole time. So they're loving it. And as far as like the house, oh my gosh. just the burden, the, like, every morning type stuff that, like, I can now, I'm just able to focus more on Scarlet in the mornings,
Starting point is 00:17:25 Scarlet in the evenings, Jill in the mornings, Jill in the evenings. Just say it. One of the best decisions you ever made in your life was getting rid of your dogs. Yeah, but can I tell you a dad lost? Just say that, though. Oh, best decision I've ever, truly, best decision I've ever made as a father was sending the dogs to grandma's. Making them send in their eye, turn in their iPad.
Starting point is 00:17:44 You got to cut them loose. There's 31 other teams out there. There's one I know that's going to love you. And now they're getting rings, probably back to back rings. And this is actually a massive dad loss underneath Scarlett's high chair at the end of meals. I didn't realize the work that old Wrigley boy was putting in. I truly did not. The amount I have to clean up now after every single meal is it's a daunting,
Starting point is 00:18:12 task. And I'm like, no, that's crazy. That's crazy. Dog can eat. You know last, you remember last week how you kind of derailed the podcast with the news of old buddy getting paralyzed from diving in the pool. Yes. And can I put a weird error in the, in the building? Yes. We didn't really know how to laugh anymore after that. Yes. Well, we had somebody, Mason Hale right in. What's up, boys? This is Mason from Choctaw, Oklahoma. I had to immediately pause the pod. to write this to tell you all after hearing y'all talk about diving into pools. Year and a half ago, he's on family vacation.
Starting point is 00:18:49 East D.3, he had a couple of cold ones, threw him back. I thought it was a smart idea to add a few tequila shots of the mix while he's in the pool. One thing led to another, and he decided to playfully dive into this little pool. Mind you, it's only about five and a half feet deep. It was more of an angled dive instead of a head first, but it's still, he hit his head at the bottom of the pool. Thankfully, no major issues or concussion, but he scraped his forehead. He sent in a little photo. Oh.
Starting point is 00:19:13 And basically got scalped. Oh my gosh. He can't be drinking and diving. Nah, he can't be drinking and diving, man. Especially in the shallow end. Yeah, especially in the shallow end. That derailed anybody out there.
Starting point is 00:19:28 What is scalping, too? That's when you're like, oh my God. Well, actually, I have a dad hack. Don't drink cold ones and just dive into the shallow end of a pool. No. I think that's a good dad hack. It's a good dad hack. Good dad hack.
Starting point is 00:19:42 Don't drink a few cold ones and go diving into the show. Don't be doing that shit. Do a gainer. That's way better. Pt Ciccos, we interrupt this episode to bring you Nanit. The Nanit Smart Baby Monitor System is an all-in-one parenting tool. We talk about how much we use Lucy. But I've been only talking about these 12 milligram espresso, because that is my speed. I want to tell you about some other speeds that Lucy is bringing.
Starting point is 00:21:19 And that's our Lucy breakers. And the guys, they got all these different flavors. They got mint. We got apple cider right here. We got berry citrus right here. These are an eight. Usually when I do my breakers, I do eight milligram. I know that they feature some lower milligrams, I believe four is how they do it.
Starting point is 00:21:41 But love these breakers. Whenever I'm putting a Lucy in or just kind of sitting there in the past when I used different products, I would sit there and I'd ask myself, why does the flavor go away so quickly? Like I feel like this experience of a nicotine pouch should be something that's a bit more long lasting. Lucy has answered the bell. They have introduced this breaker system where there's actually a flavor pod inside of the paper. pouch that you can break open. And you can break it open at the very beginning. I know a couple of users that do that. Will Compton being one of them. I myself, I'll use it for probably 10, 15 minutes. That's then when I do the breaker. You can break it at any point. But it's just that extra flavor juice
Starting point is 00:22:33 kick that we all know and love. So, Lucy, are they the big guys? No, they're the small guys. They're the guys. Just like you and me, American Made, and they want to make sure you have the best product possible. Lucy is the only pouch that delivers long-lasting on-demand flavor. We have a new podcast. It's called Don't Lie to Me. I'm Lexi. We're two best friends, 22 years apart, but so close at heart. And I'm Lisa Di Giulio, the old one, which means we have wildly different references,
Starting point is 00:23:50 occasionally different opinions, and at this point in my 50s, I've lived it all. I'm not going to get anyone fighting. That is wild. I learned that about you today. Now in my 30s, being the founder of new shoes, good taste is my business, and I've always got something to say. If men were just honest about this, There would be so much more peace in the world.
Starting point is 00:24:13 We're going to talk about dating, relationships, beauty, getting older, and a little wiser. We're best friends, but we don't always agree. Because you told us how accommodating you are. Obviously, I would do what I think I could do to fight the fight, but there's only so much fight I can fight. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me.

Starting point is 00:25:16 The talent is insane and the personalities are giving main character energy. And of course, the fans love it. But 30 years ago, when the league first started, it was a different story. I remember sitting with a couple of male writers all whining about, oh, what are they going to do if they break a nail?
Starting point is 00:25:33 No one's going to show up. But from the very beginning, there were two teams that captured everyone's attention. The comments were to rule. I mean, come on. The Liberty never gave up. They never stopped fighting. I knew that rivalry was going to be amazing from the beginning.
Starting point is 00:25:49 I'm Kerry Champion, and this is biggest rivalries of all time, season two. The New York Liberty versus the Houston Commons, the very first rivalry of the WNBA. They picked us to finish last, and they picked them to finish first. That's all you need to know. I remember looking around thinking, this is going to change things. basketball was going to have this fundamental impact on the way people viewed women athletes. Listen to biggest rivalries of all time on the I-Hard radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Is there bad blood between you in the comments as you guys meet again in the championship?
Starting point is 00:26:26 Oh, we're coming back to win. And here comes to find print. Lucy products are only for adults of legal age. and every customer is age-verified warning. This product contains nicotine. Nicotine is an addictive chemical. Buddy, even last night, and I realized, too, I'm starting to get a little bit more impatient with the whining
Starting point is 00:26:53 to where it's just like, hey, I just look at her. Stop whining. To which I know it's almost going to be a domino effect that it's going to make her even sadder because now that has mad at her. And I don't know what to do because you got to toughen up, man. Yeah. Like last night we had lasagna, pasta, meat sauce, and cheese. And she loves pasta. Yeah. Scotty isn't saying a word. Usually it's just chaos the whole time at dinner. You're trying to get him to eat. Mom and dad are usually finished first. We're trying to play games and get them both to eat. Do that whole song and dance. Scotty's silent the whole time. She's hand in. She eats the whole thing. She gets two extra servings of lasagna because she's once more. And she's yelling at Dadat more.
Starting point is 00:27:40 Dadat more. I got you, man. And I'm looking at Ruh, like, she's cleaning her. Like, Roo, this is a meal. This is a meal you're going to like. It's worthy of consumption. Yeah, like, this isn't, we're not trying to dance around and give you something different that you're like, kind of like, oh, I don't like this.
Starting point is 00:27:56 And it's like, dude, you never try to just try it bite and see if you like it. This is pasta, meat, sauce, and cheese. And, bro, I was so internally fed up. Like, I'm keeping it together. She goes to go, Mama, I want to sit by you and eat. Go sit by next to Mama and eat. If that's what's going to get you to eat your food, go sit next to Mama and eat. She says next to Mama.
Starting point is 00:28:15 She wants to just tell stories all the time. Hey, sweetheart, eat. Eat your food. You're going to like that food. Look at Scotty. She's on her third helping. And Rue, it's like I'm getting up. Scottie gives me her plate.
Starting point is 00:28:26 And I just turn the room. I'm like, Roo, it's pasta, meat sauce, and cheese. And I pause. And we're just, she's staring back at me and I'm staring at her. And there's a part of my brain that. almost flickers to start smiling the way she's kind of just like staring at me. I'm like, you like pasta, meat sauce and cheese. Meat sauce.
Starting point is 00:28:46 She's like, what are these little tomatoes? It's sauce. It's mariner sauce. It's what's on pizza. You love pizza. You love pasta. You're putting the sauce on your little pasta dumpling things that we get for you. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:58 You're going to love this meal. And we're both just, it's like a stare off. And I'm like, you got to eat it. And then I just walk back to the pantry. And I'm just like, dog, I just. the emotions that she's in right now. Did she eat it? Yeah, she came out.
Starting point is 00:29:15 She's like, Daddy kind of a cookie. I'm like, no, you didn't eat all your food. And then Mama chimes in. Hey, she pretty much ate all of it.
Starting point is 00:29:24 And then I look back at the plate where she almost did eat all of it. And I'm like, all right, I'm going to give you a piece of this cookie and you're going upstairs and getting ready for bed. A piece.
Starting point is 00:29:33 Not the whole thing. A piece. No, she never gets the whole cookie. Oh, okay. It's a piece. Yeah, yeah. Give you a piece.
Starting point is 00:29:38 She eats in my pajamas, PJs. Jol little ass upstairs. I also. But I find myself getting just more frustrated with the emotions of this four-year-old. Yeah. Once you have it, I guess with two, I worry that they might, like what happens when it starts multiplying on top of each other? Because in that moment, you had Scotzilla that you could really celebrate there and be like, Scotzilla is cleaning the plate.
Starting point is 00:30:09 But what happens when they both start whining? Does that happen? Dad's out there. Oh, yeah. When they both start going. Does it compile? Has to. Yeah, it does.
Starting point is 00:30:21 Like, I'm just like, hey, stop. And then usually have to focus on Rue because this is like, Scotty's, she's won. Yeah. So it's like, I can't sit there and try and talk rationally to Scotty yet. Usually Scotty's upset about something. You got to work with her a little bit differently because she's won. Rue, I almost put the expectation that you know better, but I have to put, when I'm like, hey, stop.
Starting point is 00:30:43 And it might make Rue stop whining for a second to hear what I'm saying, where Scotty's going to continue to cry because she's upset about something. But then I have to just break down to Rue house. Scotty's one. And if it's something that's in Rue's favor, hey, I'm going to get you this, whatever it is, because I understand that Scotty is annoying the hell out of you. But I don't know, I have to, I have to just compartmentalize and work on one at a time.
Starting point is 00:31:06 I have to get Roo calm That's all I have to do first Once I get Rue calm Hey just patience with Dadda Dadda trust me I got your back Let me handle Scotty I'll look at Scotty Scottie Whenever this gets done
Starting point is 00:31:17 We gotta get it to Rue So that way Rue hears me say it Then I focus solely on Scotty Go and take her out of the room calm her down But yeah it compiles You have three years To get Rue Officially on your side
Starting point is 00:31:31 Because that's when Scott Zilla is gonna hit the four mark Yeah And once you have Roo fully on your side, seven or eight year old Rue, now we're operating. Yeah. Because Scottie now she can get into the cabinet stuff with, she loves grabbing the board games now. It's like, buddy, I'm not going to sit here and play Candy Land with you.
Starting point is 00:31:52 You're just going to knock over all the cards and you're not even going to move the pieces the right way. You're still go-go-go-gaga. You don't get it. You're not fun yet. You don't know how to play this game yet. She's got a share of sparkle unicorn. I'm playing that with him before mom comes home yesterday.
Starting point is 00:32:08 It's a three man weave on Cher Sparkle Unicorns. I got to keep all the gyms away from Scotty. Yeah. Because you got to reach in and get a gym and put them on the Sherr Sparkle Unicorns. And I'm like, hey, it's Roos turn to roll the dice. Rue rolls the dice and goes, she puts her hand in the bag, does all that stuff. Scotty tries to take the bag. No, no, Scotty, it's not your turn yet.
Starting point is 00:32:26 Scotty's now the troll in the game. Scotty is the troll in the game. Then it's the guy's on the roll the dice. She wants to roll the dice. Yeah. So she has to take, let me see here. what could I grab? What do you got? Oh, I use this an olipop.
Starting point is 00:32:40 She'll, like, take the dice, and she sees how we'll, like, jiggle it and roll it on the table. She, like, takes the dice and takes it, and she's got to, like, smash it in her hand so that way she can, like, have her hand. And then she, like, slowly puts her hand over the table, and she's just like, oh, two!
Starting point is 00:32:56 He's got to draw two. It only, like, turns over one time. Yeah, she, like, holds a little. And the dye looks so big in her hand. She's, like, hold it. that's incredible. You had something else? I was going to say to Sherm's point about when Scottie gets older.
Starting point is 00:33:15 And I don't mean to be like a harbor of bad news. But I'm pretty sure the picky eating stage gets worse from like six to 10. The what stage? Like a picky eater. Like I don't. Oh, yeah, yeah. I feel like my own experience and everyone I know,
Starting point is 00:33:28 it's like as you get older, all of a sudden there's foods that you used to eat that you hate now. And it gets really bad from like, at least I was super bad from. like five to maybe 10. I think my parents said I was like, that was the worst stretch where all of a sudden stuff I would eat all the time, I was getting really weird about certain things.
Starting point is 00:33:45 Yeah. Roo's a picky eater. And she's headstrong too. Like it's, I also, she's tough. This one, she told me she don't like carrots anymore.
Starting point is 00:33:56 I just, I have to shout out this. This is one of my favorite follow-ups. Because Deke and I actually laughed about this after we recorded. did last week's episode of when chef was spilling his soul while we were doing the ice cream floats amid chef spilling his soul Gary Lloyd author wrote Will said ice cream your brain was on the ice cream oh my god this float that float is amazing hey I love what you said this hey this olive pop float yeah chef good job
Starting point is 00:34:35 away. Chef, what were... The caramel apple. What were you talking about, too, chef? It was like something kind of deep. Oh, like, thank you my parents for the year of letting me back in their home. Chef's in a monologue, giving up. Yeah. Being vulnerable talking about his parents. I feel like I learned a lot during this time.
Starting point is 00:34:56 Oh, my God, this caramel apple olive popping some ice cream. You guys got to try. Go ahead, show. Oh, that was so good, dude. Crack a cold one. Do we want to jump into crack a cold one? Speaking of Olippops. Olipop, of course, is always, or sorry, crack a cold one is always brought to us by Ollipop.
Starting point is 00:35:19 And we have our caramel apple seasonal flavors here with us. I have a special crack a cold one, though, before I get into my personal crack a cold one. If that's okay with you. Dude, it's your show. Okay. All of ours. of our
Starting point is 00:35:35 We have a very special wedding taking place this weekend with one of our very own Deke Whiten. Yes, sir. And we had a little... Putting a bow on it for real. Putting a bow on it for real.
Starting point is 00:35:52 We had a little something, something that we wanted to give you Deke. Just a tip. When you open this, it's your left hand. You're going to put your thumb and point your finger like that. And then you'll open it. You'll see what you do next.
Starting point is 00:36:05 D getting married this weekend putting a bow on the entire operation they were fired up then who knows how quickly you get in a buds we have how quickly getting a buds turn I won't spill the entire plan we have a plan and it is based around we have a very dear friend
Starting point is 00:36:25 of mine getting married next year around the same time which will use as our excuse for our one year anniversary to take a trip and then we'll see where the life takes us after that We'll see what the Pt6 operation looks like. Come on. See some stuff. A little congrats just for you.
Starting point is 00:36:41 Index finger through this whole thumb and this hole. Tap them together while opening this card. A little hedgehog. Oh my gosh. A little hedgehog. And a lot of applause. Bravo, Wu. Thank you guys very much.
Starting point is 00:37:02 This is great. What's it? What's it say? What's it say? Happy marriage. Love You from Jack Hanning. chef. Thank you. We have keep January
Starting point is 00:37:13 3rd open on the old schedule. The Steelers are going to need their... Really? Really? Their boy on the stands, cheer them on. We love you, really. Congratulations to you and Kat. And Willie C. loves you. Really? You bet to cry, dude? Yeah, dude. We've been...
Starting point is 00:37:31 For anyone who doesn't know, the Pittsburgh Steelers are coming to Nashville. Oh, you're crying! You're crying! Yeah. Well, so like, we have Wow. Okay, in my time living here, the Steelers have never played here. Kat and I have always said if they would, we'd try. Tickets are large because it is the last game in Nissan Stadium. So we have made the decision based on the wedding to just watch it at home. And so, is it for real?
Starting point is 00:37:55 Oh, yeah, buddy. That's for real. You're going to be tight. Steelers come to town. We know you love your Pittsburgh. The city of Pittsburgh. We know you love your Steelers. What's crazy is I'm almost crying, too, just the card is just as cool.
Starting point is 00:38:06 Thank you guys so much. That is unbelievable. We've talked about that game so much and trying to. And just like we're just like it's just getting to the point of like let's just do the wedding and be happy about it. So thank you guys. I love you all very much. And I think we all speak for the Papa Team Six community. If they could all right, think it all right, we love you, D. Congratulations. I'm sure all the Papa Team Six. They'll be sounding off in the comments. They're also sending you to Nissan Stadium to see the Pittsburgh Steel. Amazing. I also let me get on. front of it now. We planned this wedding over a year ago. I was unaware Tennessee would be going to war against Texas. So I do want to say we tried to skip our own wedding. It's impossible. So I'm there with chef in Morrill and I'll miss you guys and love you dearly, but I'll be watching the game in the groom suite before my wedding. Have the most fun, dude. Thank you. Have the most fun. It'll be a blast. Don't drink too much and dive in a shallow pool. Yes. No pulls around. Maybe the hotel later. I don't know. Oh, yeah, yeah, the pool at the hotel.
Starting point is 00:39:08 You can dive in it, though. You know what I'm saying? Shockwave. The worst is this is going to be the episode that her parents are like, let's all watch Derek's podcast tonight as a family. I got to go on a run. A couple coupons. Who got waters?
Starting point is 00:39:24 I'll go get waters for everybody. Who wants to water? Yes, dude. We're excited. Another crack of cold one for myself. Jilly Beans B-Day went off without a hitch. It went very well. Some are saying that I completely redeemed myself for Mother's Day.
Starting point is 00:39:46 Some say I have room to improve. Who's saying you have room to improve? Myself. Not everything came to fruition like I wanted it to, but I felt like I did a way better job of celebrating Jill slash. It was just fun celebrating. Jill all weekend. We did two birthday dinners, one with Scarlett, and then one date night birthday dinner. So we did like the bit more financially easier to do B-Day dinner with Scarlett
Starting point is 00:40:20 and got to celebrate her twice. And then we went to Pastis here in Nashville, the French restaurant. Dude, it was really good. Have you been there, Deke, Pustis? I've not yet, but I've heard thing. Where's that? I have it. It's, sorry, did I say Green Hills?
Starting point is 00:40:38 It's in Wedgwood, Houston. It's not in Green Hills. Oh, is that the one that's by Soho? Possibly. I don't know where Soho is. Kind of on that like
Starting point is 00:40:47 Maine Woodward Houston. Oh, yeah. It's part of that new build, all that new stuff there. Yeah. That street is unbelievable. I think I've eaten there. At POS-E's good.
Starting point is 00:40:55 Yeah. Yeah, dude. It was, oh, I think. It was very good. There's a, there's a new Italian spot. Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:02 we've ripped there. It is a good spot. Great. Jilly Bean loved it. We, uh, we never really do the bottle of wine thing at dinner, but we bought a bottle of wine. Yeah, you did. Which was awesome. We kept the bottle. Um, we're going to do like little candle in it and let the wax melt down and stuff. So it looks all cool. Um, and then I had like a little thing set up for on the kitchen counter because she had done that for me for father's day. And it did make me really like feel special and celebrated. And I want Jilly Bean to feel the same way.
Starting point is 00:41:36 And we had like a little poster made and gave Scarlett a marker and she did all of her stuff on there. And it said like happy birthday from both of us. But it was good, dude. Good, man. It's good to get to celebrate wifey, baby mama. My wife got to celebrate her boy. Yes. Birthday went really well.
Starting point is 00:41:55 Got to wake up in the morning to the kiddos. My wife made me this iced Americano and she made like this cold foam to put on top. It was phenomenal. The fat of coconut milk, a little bit of whole milk and a little bit of maple syrup frothed up into a cold foam. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:42:13 They delivered that. They each had a card for me. But Roo and Scotty. They want to give you the card. Paris Rite knows. They want to give you the card, but they don't want you to read the card. They want to.
Starting point is 00:42:25 Dada, you got to open. I got you. Dada, no, here, let me show you. Sweetheart, let Dada. This is your gift to Dada. You just got to give it to me. And let Dada figure it out. They want to read you the card.
Starting point is 00:42:35 They want to point at everything they're doing on it, which was sweet and awesome. Having a little snuggle wrestling match giving them kisses as they're telling me happy birthday. Had a little cake. So funny, Charles, like, I know you love. I have this whole 30 biscuits and gravy that I do. But I had to make it since I'm the one who makes it. But Charles took the kiddos to Ruse Ballet so that way I could just have some quiet time. I'm just chefing it up in the kitchen.
Starting point is 00:42:59 I got college game day on and make some biscuits and gravy. we had a little cake that they came out. The kiddos were singing happy birthday to me. Rue, Charles tells me after the fact, that Rue felt really bad for me on the way home. Because she was wondering, why doesn't Dadda, are friends not coming over for his birthday? I know.
Starting point is 00:43:21 And she was really concerned about me being at home by myself. Yeah. And we're going to go home and have brunch with Dad, and have a cake. But where are his friends? And Charles was trying to tell her that like, Dad, this is what daddad prefers is to be a lone dog. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:38 He doesn't like a lot of people all the time. Yeah, yeah. But she's like, yeah, but it's his birthday. It's his party. And we're the only one showing up for his party. So sweet. I know. I know. And I was like, well, did you make it feel better by the time you got on?
Starting point is 00:43:53 She's like, yeah, but you could just tell. She was just like, didn't make sense or that nobody's coming over. Yeah. And she's like being extra. I wonder why she's being so special to me when she got home. She just wanted me to play. Hey, Debt, let's play a game. Honey, you may need to pull aside, Rue, and tell her that you have friends.
Starting point is 00:44:12 Because she's worried. She was worried. I would have photos of said friends. I would show her pictures because she wasn't believing me in the car. She might actually be worried about me. This morning when we were having breakfast. Like, Scotty's standing on her stepstool to eat. Roo sits in her place in the corner at the island.
Starting point is 00:44:30 mom is sitting next to Roo. There's a couple things just on the island where I just didn't sit next to Charo. I sat on the other corner of the island. So I'm just kind of sitting solo once the eggs and everything get made. And Charles makes the comment, you didn't want to sit next to us.
Starting point is 00:44:45 I'm like, oh, a couple things. A couple things were in the spot, so I just figured out I'd just sit here. A couple minutes later, Rue makes her way over to sit by me at the corner of the island. And I'm thinking on my head, based on what my wife told me other night,
Starting point is 00:44:58 I'm like, is Rue just concerned and that dad-dad doesn't have anybody that loves him. She's like, Dad, I'll sit next to you. I'm like, oh, I appreciate it, sweetheart. I don't know if you, I don't know if it's pity now. Maybe, maybe milk that, though. You know what I'm saying? You know Dadda's feeling alone.
Starting point is 00:45:14 Because it's always, it's always kind of with the kids, like they're doing something to get something. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? But now, like, you're getting some true emotional support from your daughter. Where's that emotional support when she won't finish her plate? Amen, chef. She doesn't have her hand out at all
Starting point is 00:45:35 other than to give Dad a hug. You just start, you know my dadda doesn't have friends. My friends told me. They'll start coming over when you start eating your dinner. They said I'm a bad dad-dad because my sweet, precious little angel girls, they don't finish their dinner. But why? You make friends.
Starting point is 00:45:59 when their kids eat their dinner. That's just how it goes. When you're a dad-da, of course. Yeah, that's life. That's like a dad-da thing. And start calling people like in front of her and be like, so excited to talk to Uncle Sherman. Let's call Uncle Sherman and let's tell him a funny story. Bob, blah.
Starting point is 00:46:18 Put on speakerphone letter hear it, hear it. Let it hit voicemail. Oh, he must be busy. Have you sent me a text when you don't answer the call? not answered unless Rue eats her dinner. Did Rue finish her plate? No, she didn't tonight. Blah, blah.
Starting point is 00:46:39 We'll be seeing you. Have a good night. Bro, I might pull that move. That might work. Yeah, I think that that can work. I think that that'll work. We'll give it a trial run for next week's episode. Stupid.
Starting point is 00:46:51 A dad act. We'll just create your own dad act. That's a good dad act. That's your daughter. Your dad has no friends Uncle Sherman doesn't always talk to you Oh he just sent me a message Says he'll answer
Starting point is 00:47:06 When you eat your dinner Oh But I get I mean It's gonna be kind of hard for you to finish your dinner right? He says as soon as you clean your plate We'll get on the phone You think you could do it Oh yeah yeah
Starting point is 00:47:20 I can eat it Oh that's a dad act Maybe maybe Maybe Time we'll tell Was that your crack a cold one, by the way, your birthday? That and also just a subtle one, subtle crack a cold one. All of this stuff that I'm complaining about that I know other parents do with the young kiddos that are very frustrated.
Starting point is 00:47:41 Dude, I feel like your kids are the only humans on earth that you can be frustrated. Let's just say it's a full day of frustration, a full day of whining, a full day of like, you and mom you've been in the trenches and it's like you finally get them down and you're like oh thank god i feel like your kids are the only humans on the planet you've heard the chaos now you can see it oh my gosh watch all your favorite podcasts from start to finish right inside the free iher radio app gets the blood going up catch every laugh and iroll on shows like the tom green farmcast and park the bus now with full video we're building a ramp for tony hawk it's the same hosts and the same Same chemistry with all the hilarious moments you've been missing right on your screen.

Starting point is 00:48:43 We're two best friends, 22 years apart, but so close at heart. And I'm Lisa Di Giulio, the old one, which means we have wildly different references, occasionally different opinions, and at this point in my 50s, I've lived it all. I'm not going to get anyone fighting. That is wild. I learned that about you today. Now in my 30s, being the founder of new shoes, good taste is my business. And I've always got something to say.
Starting point is 00:49:11 If men were just honest about this, there would be so much more peace in the world. We're going to talk about dating, relationships, beauty, getting older, and a little wiser. We're best friends, but we don't always agree. Because you told us how accommodating you are. Obviously, I would do what I think I could do to fight the fight, but there's only so much fight I can fight. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me.

To where when I walk into my closet to change, to get into the shorts, to get in something comfortable, where I look at the photos I have with them up, with their smiles and everything else, and then instantly it puts a smile on your face that you like, you know, you miss them or you're like, God, I just love it.
Starting point is 00:51:55 them so much. They're the only humans that can just change your mood in an instant. God, that's so true. The amount of times that I look at that little nanicam, like once we put Scarlet down, and I just want to go wake her up. Even though I know that that's the worst thing I could possibly do in that moment, we had a really hard day with her. She was teething.
Starting point is 00:52:18 I just want one last little smile or hug or like kiss. That's so true, dude. I was thinking about that last night because we didn't have a tough bedtime, but I knew I was very frustrated with her not eating the pasta meat sauce and cheese. And when I was seeing that we did a little photo booth at L&O Market a couple weekends ago, so I have the little photo thing printed out. I see me like kissing her on the cheek and she's smiling. I just see the photo and I just have a smile on my face and I just thought to myself, I just had a tough. Like she could be so frustrating sometimes. and our kids might be the only humans on earth
Starting point is 00:52:55 that can snap us out of whatever we're feeling and put a smile on our face at the end of the day. I'm not saying like our wives or our best friends can't, but you might, like you say you might see a photo with my wife, but we might be at arms about something going on. So I see the photo and I'm like, oh, man, we got to, you know, we got to figure this out,
Starting point is 00:53:11 but you're thinking of whatever dilemma that you might be in. Yeah. But you see your kiddos in a family photo or something. You're just like, oh, God, I'm so lucky. It's such a wild concept of then like, apply that to anything outside of you and your child. You're a diehard Bill's fan. You're in the AFC championship.
Starting point is 00:53:34 Josh Allen fumbles. You're not going to the Super Bowl. You're probably really pissed at Josh. But then you see like a picture of Josh Allen on Instagram. All of a sudden you're like, man, that's smiled, dude. I just can't. I can't even be mad at it. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:53:47 Like that doesn't even make sense. Like, I mean, that kind of doesn't. Like if he has a bad game. can't sign me a video this morning and said we like Josh Allen right and it was him with the big hat on just going I guess you know what Josh Allen might be the worst example of that now that I think about it but it it is it's like we love him we love him but if he's lost like three in a row and thrown six picks and now they're they're second the division like you might look like man we need him to pick his shit up but if your kiddo is on a three-day losing streak with massive turnovers you see a photo of them at the end of the end. And you're like, oh, God, I'm lucky.
Starting point is 00:54:25 But they're the best. Yeah. I'm lucky to have them. Oh. Also, a little dad hack that I wanted to throw in there before we do call-ins. Sticky toys in the bath. I don't know what your bath time situation looks like. I don't think I've ever seen, like, y'all's bath time set up.
Starting point is 00:54:48 We got like a basket in the corner with a bunch of toys, like the foam letters. Ducks and shit that you can play with. God, those are so, yes. And then you're talking about like the suction ones that are against the bathtub. Yeah. Dude. We got some for Scarlet. They're just like little Amazon cheapy ones that you can stick onto the wall and you pour the water into it.
Starting point is 00:55:09 And it's like a flower that will then bud or like a giraffe's head will like come out and start going like that when you pour the water into it. And Scarlett just stands there now. She doesn't even sit in her baths. she like stands just doing that, which is kind of optimal for bat time cleaning. Makes it really easy. That's a good dad hack. I have one here from Patrick Carter for a dad hack. Got a hack for college football Saturdays and found it by accident.
Starting point is 00:55:37 Saturday mornings I wake up, start a load of laundry, then take off for my boys to rip some flag football. By the time I'm back, the laundry is done. So once you're all set up for that first game to kick off, you grab the laundry and start folding. Normally, I'm not halfway through the first game when Wifi comes in and says, is this what we're going to do all day? But not anymore. She walks in and sees me folding that laundry
Starting point is 00:56:01 and doesn't say a word. The trick is you can't fold too fast. Paste yourself. Also, got to make sure you keep the rotation of machines going so you don't run out. My nine-year-old son, Bear, loves college football. My wife is not nearly as pissed that I'm hitting nine hours of ball and the laundry gets done.
Starting point is 00:56:19 Love you guys in the pod. Keep up the awesome work. Patty C. B.S. Willie. I don't cut my grass either. That shit sucks. That's what the kids are for in builds character. There we go.
Starting point is 00:56:32 There's multiple dad hacks in that, by the way. Yeah. I was just about to say cutting, you know, mowing your yard, if you get a little arm attachment for your push mower and you can have YouTube TV going, make sure you cook some big old dinner. Lots of plates. lots of pans, use all the dishware possible, then you can do some dishes.
Starting point is 00:56:54 You're in the kitchen, you're doing dishes, but you're watching the game. Just create all these tasks that you have to do. Just sit around and knock them out. Dishes are a sneaky move. I'm big on hitting the dishes after dinner. And I just pick up on it as I'm doing it, but I felt myself gravitating toward hitting the dishes.
Starting point is 00:57:12 Because then it's like finishing up dinner time or running around with the kiddos. they love doing dance parties. Like I like dancing, but not every night. You know what I mean? What is the deal with that? I only got so many moves in the arsenal. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:28 And you can only listen to let it go so many times, you know? Dude, we got this Italian banger that we rip every night, the Chi Chi Chacha song. That was the one where when we were in Italy, it's got the mascots on the stage. And I kind of just show up my face, like what the hell is going on here? But they love that song. I love that song.
Starting point is 00:57:47 And that one's still ripping to this day. Yeah. And the Cocton Housel. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And the Zootopia one is a Zootopia song that is a banger that we rip. But they love dance parties. But you kind of get some alone time just hitting the dishes. Gotta hit the dishes.
Starting point is 00:58:03 And I lock it. That's why I lock in with my audio books is when I'm mowing or doing dishes or something where I'm just like by myself. Mopping. Mopping's a good one. You brought up something, though, that made me think. Oh, Frozen. Dude, I think we've watched Frozen every single day in my house for the last like three months straight.
Starting point is 00:58:26 I think it's played in my house every single day. Is that normal? Because Jill said, Scarlett loves the movie Frozen. Look at her, honey. And it's true. Every single day, every single night, when we do our little bedtime routine, we'll just have Frozen on in the background. But I'm worried, is that going to affect her mentally? if she's just watching the same movie over and over and over again.
Starting point is 00:58:49 It's a good question. I don't know. I don't know how much screen time she's getting throughout the day. And then I'm not going to be the parent that's like trying to back, hey, they shouldn't be doing that much screen time. Yeah. You know what I mean? I'm not trying to sit up here.
Starting point is 00:59:01 I'm not trying to sit on some high horse and talk about screen time. Well, there's also... I'll tell you what we do. And then it's like... You know what I mean? Like we do the coupons and everything else. Yeah. What you're going to come to because Scottie's not there yet,
Starting point is 00:59:13 but it's that age because Rue was big on Frozen. they'll be pissed about watching anything else. Damn it. I knew it. So you'll be cornered into something until you just show them kind of the world that there's a roll of X. Like movie night is always something different. We haven't watched Frozen in a while. We'll probably get to it because I want Scotty to sit still during a movie.
Starting point is 00:59:30 And we've hit the Disney Frozen books at nighttime. Yeah. For Scotty that she loves. But Rue was very much cornered. She had us cornered at all times for Frozen. And she would be pissed if we watch anything else. Scarlet's not at the age yet, so where she can do all the talk
Starting point is 00:59:47 and snap back at you yet. Like, how old is Scarlett again? A year and three months. Yeah, so, yeah, I mean, you're getting closer. Like, once you get in that 16, 22 month range, like Scotty isn't stuck on something yet. Roo at that age of Scotty, she would just want Frozen. And then I want to say it was like how to train your dragon
Starting point is 01:00:05 was kind of the first, maybe I could be talking out of my ass here. Or princesses, like a different princess is what got her, got us to experiment outside of Frozen. but you get them zoned in on one movie like one world they're all about that world they don't make Frozen anymore that might be
Starting point is 01:00:23 Oh yeah Oh yeah they don't make frozen anymore They don't chef I didn't even forgot about the dad hack a couple weeks ago Here's the jungle book instead they make this one now They don't make that one now Yeah I didn't Oh here's a little giants
Starting point is 01:00:35 Because it's football Saturday right now Cinderella I may need Uncle Chef's help And I can do two dad hacks in one We can call Uncle Chef and Uncle Chef could deliver the bad news of they don't make Frozen's not working on your TV. I'm in as long as I could do like a big time Hollywood
Starting point is 01:00:53 producer voice and like, nah kid that's sipish, that ship of sale. I just we may have to FaceTime you then. You can have a cigar in your mouth. Yes. Yes. Like a maybe a suit or like a robe. Honey, this is this is Uncle Chef our Disney exec friend.
Starting point is 01:01:11 You know you know Uncle Chef. He's a Disney executive. Let's have kid. Ah, hurry up. Oh my gosh. I have another dad hack here. Get an individual first aid kit. This comes from Mitchell Benson, 2689. Get individual first aid kit for both vehicles.
Starting point is 01:01:37 Most likely you'll always be close to one of those instead of searching for a store. Amen. Amen. And then Mitchell Benson also wrote in and said, boys, the shoes. Talk about a problem that needs to be fixed. My 17-month-old daughter won't stop curling her damn toes. Nine times out of ten, we just end up in crocks before everyone is over it after 10 tries and a full meltdown.
Starting point is 01:02:05 A little bit of a hack. We did figure out, though, that has helped tremendously. If they have socks on, pinch the top of the socks near their ankle and pull it up towards their knees with one hand. put the shoe on with the other hand, keeps their toes straighter, and the socks slides a little bit easier. Mm, good dad hack. Good dad. Double dad hack.
Starting point is 01:02:29 And people on the first aid, they might be, oh, Captain Obvious have a first aid. I'm telling you, if you're a new dad, sometimes you don't know until the moments happen. It absolutely seems obvious. I don't have one. But then you're out in Florida driving around looking for a first aid kit because your little one cut her eye by falling on the table. Oh, I forgot about that. That's where that dad hat comes in
Starting point is 01:02:50 Is rude busted her eye open And I'm out driving to a CVS or a Walgreens To find a first aid for the butterfly bandades And it is you're sitting there Like yeah why don't we have a first aid How dumb are we? Yeah It seems obvious but any new dads that might be rocking right now
Starting point is 01:03:05 That aren't already on top of that It's kind of like a oh yeah yeah It does seem like an obvious That is an obvious That might even be a this week I need to get that done Because I do not have a first aid Jill has a ton of stuff at our house, but we don't have anything in the car.
Starting point is 01:03:20 Right. We need a mobile. Yeah. Affordable. Yes. Shoutouts? Shoutouts. Dude, my first shoutouts is just going to go to my wife.
Starting point is 01:03:30 Phenomenal birthday. There's part of my wife. She was just asking me kind of throughout the day, is this your dream life? Like, is this what you, because she felt like there's just not enough birthday. Like we did a little, we went to, we went to South Hall, got away on Saturday. After we did the whole birthday brunch and everything else, the in-laws came over to watch the kids, watch the house, do bedtimes, all that stuff.
Starting point is 01:03:52 Toronto, I got out of Dodge, early afternoon on Saturday. We got in the room and I'm like, I laid on the bed. I flipped on the multi-view, YouTube TV, had this four screens going with college football. And she's just making sure, like, are we doing what you want to do? And I'm like, sweetheart, if I could just watch ball all day, like this is the life. She's reading a book.
Starting point is 01:04:11 She's taking a nap. She's getting re-energized. But she's, like, concerned that they're, there wasn't enough birthday. And I'm like, this, sweetheart, you know this is it. Yeah. Just uninterrupted, got ball on. I'm in the group chats with the boys, being nasty to each other, talking some shit,
Starting point is 01:04:29 just watching ball. Now, the one caveat that she was like kicking herself for is our dinner reservation was at 7 o'clock. Because I kind of looked at it. I'm like, can we kick it up to 5? We weren't able to kick it up to 5. But I'm like, it's, you know, who plays a night? I'm like, LSU Ole Miss.
Starting point is 01:04:45 Oh. Not only that, Huskers play at 6 p.m. It's a big game, though, it's not the biggest. It's North Dakota. But you know I love watching the scurs. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:55 Pack the old Nebraska shirt. Like, it's the most important slate of the day. You got Florida Auburn. You got Ole Miss LSU. Games got delayed. So games got delayed. Yeah, games were getting delayed. And we're in prime time.
Starting point is 01:05:12 She's like, well, we'll see if the restaurant has a TV. And I'm like, I don't think it does, but let's hope. Because I don't want to be the guy sitting there on my phone. Like while we're on a date, I know it's my birthday. I can do whatever I want. It is your birthday. It is your birthday. She was making that known.
Starting point is 01:05:23 Yeah. She's like, if not, we can have the phone out and you can watch. I was like, all right. You know, we've been to this restaurant before January. It's at South Hall. And we go and sit down and we're kind of in the booth. You know how you have like the long booth and they have like a tabletop for two? Yes.
Starting point is 01:05:38 Through down the booth. We're in the middle one. So there's a couple. There's dates happening on each side of us. Yeah. So I don't want to seem like the ass. where I just got my phone out. I did. Yeah. But then you feel like you're getting judged because you're on a date with Wifey.
Starting point is 01:05:53 She's sitting across and I got YouTube TV out on the side. Other guys locked in with their date. Got the sound down, but I got LSU Ole Miss on. I got kind of the four screen at a time going on the phone, but it's a little too small. So I got LSU O Miss because I wanted to watch that one, checking in on the scurs, checking in on Florida Auburn. But I had to watch LSU O Miss. I got a dad hack for you, a simple one, a birthday
Starting point is 01:06:16 Boy pin. You put the birthday boy pin on the shirt. That's a good point because there was some like I kind of feel like an asshole doing this. And you're not. It's your birthday. You're the birthday boy. You get your big old. Get a big one so they can read it real easily. So when they're sitting there, they're going, look at this dick at dude. Because my wife, she was trying to make me feel comfortable. She's like, no TV is in here. And I'm like, yeah, the waiter came over kind of took her drink order. She's like, what are you thinking about right now? I'm like, I'm thinking about it else you will miss. like what's how old miss is up right now like this could be a throttling with lane kiffin coming to town she's like pull it out on your phone i'm like dude we got dates on each side of us she's like
Starting point is 01:06:55 you're at your birthday you can do whatever you want because long as you say so and i kind of maneuver it to where it's like you know phones right here but i maneuvered sideways so it seems like my wife's involved on the game yeah yeah she's interesting she loves involved as much as you she wanted to watch because some people they can't mind their own business there's probably some couple in that restaurant that the guy's just fighting himself to go, I gotta go say something. I heard that older gentleman next to me talking about LSU Ole Miss. I'm like, Ole Miss is up right now. Ininvertently, the guy sitting facing the phone side might have been relieved and snuck a couple
Starting point is 01:07:30 peek saying goes, oh my God, this guy pulled out the phone. I can't do that right now. I know. I do. I know. This other guy had the nuts to pull the phone out and put it on. Now I can peek. PIN is a great call because then when the waiter would come over, even the waiter like standing over and talking about the specials. And I got the screen is playing like while I'm looking up at them. And I see him glanced down at it a couple times. But even that feeling of like, I just want to tell them, I'm like, hey, it's my birthday. I'm watching some.
Starting point is 01:07:57 Some restaurants will even tell you, hey, no phones. Right. You put it away. Right. But they see that birthday boypin. They go, oh, so sorry, sir. Sorry for interrupting. Happy birthday, by the way.
Starting point is 01:08:07 I like that, dude. It could work. But shout out to my wife. Shout out to my wife. she crushed it on my birthday. We got some good sleep. Got the coupons. A couple coupons. Rocking and roaring shock.
Starting point is 01:08:18 Way, put a bow on it. Hey, did you all also, did y'all hit the, I heard that they have like really good massage stuff there too. No, we didn't hit like a massage. You just got kind of like a spot,
Starting point is 01:08:28 like a day pass where we could access the tubs, the saunas, everything else. Yeah, we had that for the next. Jill's putting that in my ear for a while. That's why I knew what South Hall was when you initially told me about it. I got to make that happen.
Starting point is 01:08:43 Because I'm thinking, am I putting enough time into the, to Wifi because I am so engaged with football the whole time. She had her, her, uh, Kindle out. She's reading. Yeah. She's reading like the whole time. But party is like, I know it's kind of us doing a getaway. And then I'm like, I know it's my birthday.
Starting point is 01:08:58 So maybe she doesn't feel any type of way that I'm just glued to everything football right now. I don't know. You get into those zones. She may feel very comfortable about it. Good. Because there's, we've been like to the beach before, Jill and I, pre-scarlet. and all she wants to do on the beach is lay out and read.
Starting point is 01:09:15 And she is the happiest camper in the entire world. Does not need anything for me except just sit on her Kindle and read. That's a positive as tro is a massive bookworm. Yeah. Massive bookworm. Do we want to jump into Collins? Do we have a shoutout? Do we have a shout out?
Starting point is 01:09:34 I read. I felt like I did. There we go. Oh, you read your shout out. I have a birthday shout out as well. I actually didn't. I didn't read mine. but you read yours because I gave my own shout out.
Starting point is 01:09:44 I shout out my wife. She didn't write in. I didn't read the shoutout. The show, we have two shoutouts. Got one from Daniel Taylor, ready to go. Perfect. And I have birthday Jess Dowdy. It wrote in.
Starting point is 01:09:57 Jess said, Dear Will and Sherman, first of all, hats off to both of you for creating this amazing podcast. My husband is from Tennessee and I'm from Nebraska and we met in Kansas City,
Starting point is 01:10:07 which has turned our home into a glorious melting pot of accents and barbecue styles. We recently moved to Tennessee to raise our beautiful baby girl, Coraline, and let me tell you, we're determined to get her
Starting point is 01:10:22 that sweet southern twang. She's just a few days younger than Scott Zilla, and we even call her Corzilla, because much like Godzilla, she has the power to wreak havoc and capture hearts all at once. Here are some pictures of the fam.
Starting point is 01:10:38 Oh, I love that. They have a... Corzilla. Corsilla tea, which is mega hefe. She is reaching out to wish a happy birthday to her husband Brandon. He's been a faithful listener since the early days of Bussin and it is a hardcore, hardcore for the dad's junkie.
Starting point is 01:10:59 Some would even say sicko. His birthday is on September 25th. And let's just say he's not exactly a birthday person, more like a Grinch when it comes to birthdays. So I thought what better way to sprinkle some joy into his day than with a little shout out from you two. He's the main caregiver for our daughter while I get to work from home. And let's be honest, his days are filled with enough toddler drama to be a reality show. Happy birthday, Brandon.
Starting point is 01:11:29 Happy birthday. I got one here from Daniel Taylor. D.T. Taylor, P.T. Sicko from Sode number one and look forward to listen every week here in Central Florida. the U-K-K-N-E-S, Keynes, C-A-N-E-S, C-A-N-C-C-E-N-E. Oh. I wanted to see if y'all boys can hit the bong for my little dude, Miles Jameson's second birthday. The boys changed my life in ways I never imagined.
Starting point is 01:11:50 I'm so grateful for every single day that I'm given with him. He's absolutely built and lives in the A-gap. 40 pounds, 38 inches tall, in 4 and 5-T clothes. We might have a future Cain's offensive tackle on our hands, But on a serious note, love, the love, compassion, patience, presence, and sense of self-worth I have discovered since becoming a dad is beyond my wildest dreams. This day is badass.
Starting point is 01:12:19 The day his badass milk team six mama delivered him, my purpose, my drive, my reason became crystal clear for raising this little man. I wanted to send this to you guys in hopes that one day I can go back to and show him just how much he means to me and his mommy and how much he is loved, cherished, and cared for. Happy birthday Miles baby. Love y'all boys. D.T. Taylor. Please have a picture of that.
Starting point is 01:12:41 Photos. A gap. Ropin. Offensive tackle, maybe a three tech. Who knows, bro. Dang. Long arms. Get your hands inside on the chest.
Starting point is 01:12:52 And that's not. Control the breastplate. That's not a four year old. You tell me that's not a four year old. Hey, look at my kid. 40 pounds. Look at them. 38 inches tall.
Starting point is 01:13:04 Three foot two. 40 pounds, man. Monster. I have a voicemail, a very special voicemail. Okay. We hit the shorter one first. Let's hit the shorter one first. 601, the dad.
Starting point is 01:13:17 You want to be featured on the show? You want to be featured? 601, the dads. Now, both of these come from someone you know. Okay. First one, you know him very well. Pause it. Pause it.
Starting point is 01:13:38 Can't pause. The voice memo. No, no. I haven't saved as a, I can send it to you. Yeah, yeah. Up as loud as it can go. That's as loud as it can go. Okay.
Starting point is 01:13:47 Do you want me to put it in between us? Okay. Is that easier? Yeah. Okay. Hey guys. Taylor Luan here. Longtime listener, second time caller.
Starting point is 01:14:00 Just wondering your opinion on fall weddings. No specific reason. Just the fact that today it's a little cooler in Nashville, Tennessee. And I thought to myself, man, like, we got Rocky Top this weekend. We got a lot of fun stuff going on. It would just be crazy. if like someone had a fall wedding taking place. So we'll love to know you guys' thoughts
Starting point is 01:14:19 and how you feel about fall weddings and is that good for dads? Is that not good for dads? Just really want your own biased opinion. Appreciate you guys. We couldn't hear it. So our call in there from Taylor Luan, father of three,
Starting point is 01:14:37 got a newborn girl in old Goldie. Shout out Taylor Luan. Shout out Taylor. Yeah, what was it? Because we couldn't hear it over here. Our thoughts on fall weddings. Our thoughts on fall weddings. I can glance over at our man, Deke.
Starting point is 01:14:50 I know. I think they sound lovely. Falls the best time of the year. I guess where I lean as a human being with, it was Taylor. Taylor. Taylor, is that we have a guy here named Taylor 2,
Starting point is 01:15:02 who is supposed to be like the Jack Skellington of Spooktober and Fall and like pumpkins and things. So it's an interesting take for this Taylor LeWan who might be different, might be the same, to crap on the beautifulness of love in his favorite season of the year. And it's just really good that I, who have a wedding this weekend, and it is fall today, got ahead of it on the show already and illustrated that my wonderful fiancé picked this date
Starting point is 01:15:28 because Tennessee had a bye week last year, and it's not the Bama game. So all of those combined with me being from the north and only really caring about Sundays. I just hope that that Taylor LeWan is not the same Taylor one next door who's supposed to tout all things pumpkin and spice. And a little lackluster, not even wearing a hoodie today. So.

Starting point is 01:16:12 Consent about your gambling or that of someone close to you, visit connectsontario.ca. Lisa, we should tell them about our new show. Oh my God, Lexi. We have a new podcast. It's called Don't Lie to Me. I'm Lexi Youanu. We're two best friends, 22 years apart, but so close at heart. And I'm Lisa Di Giulio, the old one, which means we have wildly different references, occasionally different opinions.
Starting point is 01:16:36 And at this point in my 50s, I've lived it all. I'm not going to get anywhere fighting. That is wild. I learned that about you today. Now in my 30s, being the founder of new shoes, good taste is my business, and I've always got something to say. If men were just honest about this,
Starting point is 01:16:55 there would be so much more peace in the world. We're going to talk about dating, relationships, beauty, getting older, and a little wiser. We're best friends, but we don't always agree. Because you told us how accommodating you are. Obviously, I would do what I think I could do to fight the fight, but there's only so much fight I can fight.
Starting point is 01:17:12 Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Liar. Listen on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 01:17:24 I don't really care. Hey, everyone, it's the Jonas Brothers with the Hey Jonas Podcast. We've been catching up with some great friends, Paul Rudd, Michael Bublai, Seth Myers. And making some new friends while getting into what's really like to have sisters, like Alex and Ashton Earl. She likes to control everyone and tell everyone that to do. Okay, well control is a harsh word. Plus, we've been taking your calls, listening to your voicemails and giving advice.
Starting point is 01:17:45 Listen to Hey Jonas on America's number one podcast network, IHeart. Follow Hey Jonas and start listening on the free IHeart Radio app today. Hey, Jonas is sponsored by Edible arrangements. Order yours today at edible.com. The WNBA playoffs are about to begin. The talent is insane and the personalities are giving main character energy. And of course, the fans love it. But 30 years ago, when the league first started,
Starting point is 01:18:10 It was a different story. I remember sitting with a couple of male writers all whining about, oh, what are they going to do if they break a nail? No one's going to show up. But from the very beginning, there were two teams that captured everyone's attention. The comments were to real deal. I mean, come on. The Liberty never gave up.
Starting point is 01:18:27 They never stopped fighting. I knew that rivalry was going to be amazing from the beginning. I'm Kerry Champion, and this is biggest rivalries of all time, season two. The New York Liberty versus the Houston Com. The very first rivalry of the WNBA. They picked us to finish last, and they picked them to finish first. That's all you need to know. I remember looking around thinking, this is going to change things.
Starting point is 01:18:52 Basketball was going to have this fundamental impact on the way people viewed women athletes. Listen to biggest rivalries of all time on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Is there bad blood between you in the comments as you guys meet again in the champion? Oh, we're coming back to win. If I'm hearing you clearly, if you're going to throw the question mark of fall weddings. Sure.
Starting point is 01:19:24 In there, the burden it can place on the invitees. You also got to throw in fall spooktober festivities on the weekends. Events around spooktober. Events around Halloween. Yeah, I guess why leave the couch at all if that's your take? like it's interesting. If I see Taylor at a pumpkin patch on a Saturday, I'm going to be like, well, that's just different.
Starting point is 01:19:48 Yeah, what's up with that, man? Yeah, I thought it's all ball. Yeah. It's either all or nothing, apparently. So, like, thank you for the call in, Taylor. Thank you, Taylor. Thank you, Taylor. Deke, shout out wedding this weekend in the fall.
Starting point is 01:20:04 Shout out Deke wedding this weekend. Congratulations. Congratulations. Listen, I had to go to one last year. in the theme of spooktober as well with my boy. You got to. I got to go. Got to go to fall wedding last year.
Starting point is 01:20:18 My boy B-Rad, the biscuit, the Bontere Biscuit. He had one where we had to travel out to wherever Sleepy Hollow is. Is that New Jersey? York. New York. New York.
Starting point is 01:20:32 Loved it. Yeah. Loved it. It's tough. Like if I'm living in my own selfish world, I would love to have zero obligations. Yeah. Other than the ones that are created with the family.
Starting point is 01:20:47 So when people have like a fall wedding and maybe it lands on a big weekend to where you feel like you're picking and choosing between one of the two and really it's just it's not even that. It's you just wish you was on a different date. But that's my world. That's my selfish world. I understand that they have their world and that's what works best for them. So you need to prioritize them if you care for them in your life. It's just, it's a dilemma. It's selfishly, personally, it's a dilemma.
Starting point is 01:21:14 You hope that the person on the other side, like all the empathy on both sides is like there. If you do fall short, I don't know. Fall is a beautiful time of year to have a fall wedding. I will say that. That's a serious note. I do feel like it is a beautiful time of year. I agree as a technically a fall wedding haver. Mine was November 18th.
Starting point is 01:21:42 a beautiful time of year for weddings. Derek. Yes, thank you. Who was playing that day during B. Reds thing? The fact that you don't remember. Huskers? It was on a Saturday. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:57 So Huskers are always playing on Saturday. Yeah, sure. And I guess I get that. Who were they playing? I don't know. We took air business. Maybe. Maybe. I don't know if we did. My point here being, if this wasn't the same weekend that Bustin with the Boys was going
Starting point is 01:22:12 to do a tailgate and the show, and it was Tennessee and all those. things, we would look back a year from now and I'd be like, I don't even know who's playing. I know I'm going to remember who's playing and I know I'm going to call chef after the Valls handle business. Say congratulations. Now I'm going to go handle business. But I will say just to push back on everybody, like, more games will always be played. Taylor. LeWan. LaWan. I will say I am bummed. I'm very bummed. We were really upset when we heard when everything was kind of organized because we literally picked this weekend because the balls at a by week last year. Like it was very organized and thought. And then every week that we
Starting point is 01:22:48 kept finding out more information about the whole team going to Knoxville, I was like, we can't get out of this. She's like, it's in two weeks. Derek, like, no, we can't get out of this. So it's an obligation, man. No doubt. No doubt. I'm sad. Because when you go to the wedding, it's a moment for the fellas to ball bust the groom on you having it's here during a football Saturday. And then you're kind of locked in arms in whatever building you're in around. the wedding watching the games and who run and everything else. Agreed, the only disagree I'll give you, no one in Pittsburgh cares outside of it being a fun game.
Starting point is 01:23:25 Like no one has ties like Baylor, Balls, Nebraska. That's not a thing for all my friends. We all go, oh, I got money on this game or that game and we'll get into it. If we would have done this on a Sunday, nobody would have came because the Steelers play Sunday. And so that is like, it's a northern thing, really from where I'm at too. No, I don't hold. To me, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like I'm busting Caleb Williams balls right now
Starting point is 01:23:50 for having the strain hamstring and having the theatrics that he had on the field. Because that's like if you're in the locker room, you're ball busting about that stuff. Am I actually questioning his toughness and everything else? Like, no, deep down, no, like, bro, you're, you're an NFL quarterback. Like, you're in the big leagues. Like, I'm not questioning that whatsoever, but you know you have a ploy to bust your boy's balls about something. And it's like, I don't hold anything against you.
Starting point is 01:24:13 but it's a ploy, it's a moment where I can kind of bust your balls when I'm going to be there doing the wedding and also watching games and getting some camarader with the guys that are, we're all kind of bitching and complaining about like, we got the games, hey, what's going on in that game? Oh, the ceremony, the ceremony. Stand up, stand up. Hey, what's going on in that game?
Starting point is 01:24:28 Yeah, what is Derek doing? You've got to bust their balls after the fact. Yes, absolutely. Absolutely. I am sad that we are missing it, and I do hope that it is an awesome evening. And love you. Love you lots.
Starting point is 01:24:46 Do we love you? Thank you, Taylor for the call. Thank you, Taylor. Intern, Chris. Can we illustrate the conversation leading up to this, or do you want to do that after? You can illustrate it. Yeah, I think context is great. The only context, he has been texting the three of us on the side for the story he's going to illustrate for a little while now.
Starting point is 01:25:09 And last week I text him. I was like, hey, anytime you call in, text me so I can find it. yesterday. Hey Chris, you keep telling us you're going to call in. Text me if you can find it. On the drive in this morning, Chris let me know he had forgotten to call in because he went to the bars after class. And so I really do, that doesn't sound like the intern Chris we know. I think Chris is in a hole. He needs us. Texas A&M goes down. I think our buddy Chris just needs a little love right now. Goomburee. Gumbrae, interned Chris. Guimbraim, intern Chris, and of course, our call-ins are presented by Gravely.
Starting point is 01:25:47 Let's hop into our call-in this week. Will, Sherb, Chef, Deek. Hi, it's Chris, your intern. I don't even know what I would call. I guess this could be like catching up with Chris, you know. But it's been, you know, a tumultuous month since school started for my senior year. And when I say that, I mean, Ollipop has saved my life recently. And I figured it would be no better way than to call you about it.
Starting point is 01:26:26 But to summarize, I was having some bad stomach issues on Wednesday. Ooh, horrible, horrible, horrible. Tried everything. Tried all the remedies they recommend. And then it was leading up to the football game on Saturday. And I worked the game on Saturday as like wireless cam. I walk around the stadium. And the turf, like, around the stadium was 167 degrees.
Starting point is 01:26:53 And let me just tell you, I wasn't able to hold many things inside myself, if you get what I mean. And it was going to be tough. And, well, olive pops saved me. I went there on Friday, and I was able, I just down for Dr. Feel Good Olive Pops in a row because it said doctor on him. Man, I was able to flush out my system before the game Saturday, and I felt great. So, Olipop, Oliop genuinely, I mean, that thing saved my life. So, for real. So if anyone, you know, people in college, they focus on a lot of drinks.
Starting point is 01:27:31 But Oli Pop, man, that should be the drink that goes there. You know, so we're just kind of chilling in college now. But the question I want to ask you, is there any. anything I should do for my senior year that you would recommend that I go out and try, or something that you may regret that you didn't do in college, that maybe I should go do? Is there a challenge you have for me? That's kind of where I'm at right now. I'm trying to figure out how to maximize my senior year, you know.
Starting point is 01:28:02 So I figured, you know, I could call the, you know, the unction or, you know, the for the dad'sion, whatever the function is that you all would call yourselves, you know. and, you know, is what should I do for my... It got them off. I received a text from Chris after this voicemail that said, well, I didn't know there was a time limit, but it cut me off. And he goes, I can call in after class
Starting point is 01:28:27 if you guys want me to while you're recording. So the voicemail's perfect. Digestive health. Alip. That's what they're there for. Thank you, Olipop. Do we have anything for a young intern, Chris? Our Gumbrae.
Starting point is 01:28:41 Chef and I were thinking a felony. I was going to say like on the student, like on the student level, like I wish I'd have been more a little bit more loose in college, but I mean, I was just all ball. So I can't,
Starting point is 01:28:53 I don't feel like I have any advice for him on that level. I have a weird one. I know A&M would actually be, he goes to Texas A&M. Tough, overrated ball club. Will he see?
Starting point is 01:29:09 I love Elko. I will say I love Elko. I do. I truly do. He does. But they got to show up. Yeah. Yeah. And Chris, we have some footage of Chris on the sidelines from one of the broadcasts.
Starting point is 01:29:24 That might be a fun little throw that in to the show. He also did before I give him my advice. He's putting feelers out there of a potential run it back internship. Feelers are being thrown out there. He's talking maybe even afford the dad's specific internship. Let's see if the Papa Team 6 community right now, if they can sound off in the comments about catching up with Chris or running back internship with Chris. That could be fun. My advice for him, this is a weird one, but it would probably be fine at Texas A&M.
Starting point is 01:29:58 When I think back to Baylor and like the campus, there were only certain schools that I went into as a student to do my classes. but there's like all these old historic like really beautiful buildings on campus that you can just go into at any time and go look around and so I feel like I explored 30% of Baylor's campus and I know it's probably the same for Texas A&M with how big their campus is. It's like go explore the campus like places that you've never been before and go check out some spots. That's some good just now that you're a father. good advice for the young lad. Yeah?
Starting point is 01:30:39 Yeah, responsible. It's like, oh, Sherman was fun in college. Chef and Dekemite. They brought up a felony. Yeah, felony. You don't have to worry about owning a gun. Like, it's great. Like a car jack.
Starting point is 01:30:54 Flights are awesome. Chef, did you have something? Yeah, you're not too far removed from your senior year. Yeah, I just finished up two years ago, which it goes by really quickly. I would say senior years, usually the time where you start thinking about getting out of college, like, you're like, I'm ready to get out of here, you're looking for jobs, soak in, like, all the stuff you just do everything. You're senior year.
Starting point is 01:31:18 You're like, do more. Go hang out with their friends because after college, everyone's going to split. You won't see a lot of friends as much as you usually do. And like don't take moments for granted because although there's awesome parts of like postgrad and like getting an actual job, making actual money, there's certain things about college that I miss so much. I miss like a Friday. Like right before a game, you can feel like a big game coming up
Starting point is 01:31:41 and you're like, all your buddies are together. And it's just like, there are certain things that you will never, ever, ever in your life get back again that is so tailored to that moment, especially to school like A&M. So just do it all.
Starting point is 01:31:53 Don't do less and go, I'm just ready to get out of here. Like double down because I promise you in a year, you'll look back and go, man, there are parts of college that I'm like, I wish I could go experience, you know that again. That's good advice.
Starting point is 01:32:06 Thank you. Yeah. Make the most of it. Yeah. Go do everything. You won't. You're tired. It's so specific. Everything is worth it. It won't ever happen again. Like you're never going to get that kind of experience again. So like just soak it in because it's, it really is like once it's gone, it's gone. And be the glue guy for that friend group. Yes.
Starting point is 01:32:24 Like getting them out like hey, we, dude, we're not going to have these times ever again. Which is the glue guy. Be the glue guy. I would say create. opportunities too of like grill outside we didn't start doing that until my senior year and I was like what the hell were we thinking we started grilling outside more and like cooking and uh at the house like all together and it's just like you bring all the boys together for like day stuff because we have the nightlife figured out but like the day stuff on Fridays where that feeling is in the air and yeah it's fun dude I like that big one to rip off what chef is saying is my advice
Starting point is 01:33:02 to Chris would be don't your free time is not downtime because nowadays to your point will like you go to south on you're like all I want to do for my birthday is be alone and sit in this room I would say for Chris somebody with his energy level use your free time to do all this stuff like don't be like oh I'm just going to take an easy day like every inch of your college because once you get out your free time is hard to fight for you're going to have a lot of free time now Chris is a bundle of energy and olipop at this point use your free time start Chris needs to stream check out the buildings like don't have a downtime right now because there's a lot of time that you'll have down later in life.
Starting point is 01:33:35 Use an abuse. Yep. Let's go. I like that. Chris, thank you for calling in. And we love our intern, Chris. Oh, so much. That is this week's dad call-ins presented by Gravely.
Starting point is 01:33:47 Click the link in the description below of this episode to find Gravely Moor. Emails? You hit yours. You hit yours. Oh, sorry. And then we'll hit lesson. Daniel Colish wrote in an email. Daniel said, my name is Daniel C.
Starting point is 01:34:04 Riding in from Grants Pass, Oregon, SCO Ducks. I just wanted to ride in and give my wife a massive shout out for the absolute clinic that she put in this week. Let me set the scene for you. Tuesday morning, 3 a.m. water breaks. Good. Wednesday rolls around. Still not a peep from our boy downstairs. Good.
Starting point is 01:34:29 Thursday morning, midnight. She's up feeling the contractions coming. on. I decided to stay up with her. Bad move. We get a hold of the midwife. Yeah, this is a home birth situation here. Midwife says, if you're not in labor by 3 p.m., you can forget having a home birth and go to the hospital. My wife is brokenhearted, crying on the couch. Good. Thursday flies by we're timing contractions. We call the midwife. This is really happening. By 3 p.m., she's giving it all she got. Then 9 p.m. rolls around. Then 3 a.m. Then 9 a.m. Then noon. She has been giving her best effort for damn near a full day and we can finally see our boy's head poking out. Three hours later.
Starting point is 01:35:13 And she is drenched in sweat, pushing like it's fourth and goal in the final minute of the Natty and she's down three. Then all of a sudden he's out. She's laying down, relaxed for the first time in almost two days. And the kid she just pushed out is the biggest I've ever seen. Coulter Anthony C weighing in a 10 pounds on the dot 21 inches Big boy big boy Yeah that's three days of push
Starting point is 01:35:41 Yeah This kid looks like he was bred To fill a little something I like to call the Agap A place I would not want to meet my wife Or any laboring mother Because my lord My lord these women are dogs
Starting point is 01:35:56 Spelled DAWGS all caps especially mine. Everyone made it out unscathed. A wife didn't tear. Baby latched like a champ. God is truly good. Absolutely love the show. Keep up the great work.
Starting point is 01:36:10 That comes from Daniel. And there's he and his wife and son. Shout out the fam, dude. That's crazy. Empty six. Good on you. Beautiful baby. That baby just came out of the womb.
Starting point is 01:36:27 Full headache. Baby's a grown-ass man. I was about to say. It looks like some of the kids in Scarlet's daycare class with one-year-olds. He looks like he's trying to give mom an order right now. You're trying to get some food after all that. Again, probably do... They got nuggets, mac of cheese.
Starting point is 01:36:45 Oh, there is just milk. Okay, we'll do milk. I'll do milk. I got a little lesson for us. I do as well. I have just a reminder here for the girl dads. You know, I came across a little Instagram last night where it talks about one day, your little ones, their calendars are going to be booked up.
Starting point is 01:37:06 So get in their schedule now because one day they're not going to need mom and dad anymore. And it's just so true. It's just such like little good reminders on the Graham that I love. But here's one here for how daughters see their dad's at every age. Age is zero to five. Dad is my safe place. You older, close, you protect her without making the world feel scary. Your voice, your arms, your presence.
Starting point is 01:37:26 Tell her everything she needs to know. is here, I'm safe. Ages 6 of 10, Dad sees me. You show up to the little things. You listen to her stories. You cheer the loudest. She's quietly asking one question. Do I matter?
Starting point is 01:37:39 When Dad celebrates her efforts, not just achievements, she starts believing in her own worth. Ages 11 to 14. Dad respects me, but I'm still watching. She changes. She wants privacy, independence, and sometimes distance. You give her space while still staying
Starting point is 01:37:56 emotionally present. even if she rolls her eyes or seems embarrassed inside she's wondering does dad still see me the same way ages 15 to 18 that becomes my standard how you treat her speak to her and respect her begin shaping what she believes love should look like your consistency teaches her what respects feels like and what she should never settle for 19 no 21 dad trust me you start taking a step back you offer guidance instead of control when you trust her decisions she learns to trust her own judgment and as well. In 21 plus, dad becomes fully human. She begins to see the man behind the role, your stress, your sacrifices, your quiet ways of loving, and she realizes he was figuring it out too. Dude, that was really well said. The last one was got me for a second. But I'll, I just want to to share. Just a reminder. Could be the same for boys. Yeah, that's a great reminder too of for myself as a kid now a dad and like seeing my mom and dad as the people that they are and all the sacrifice man oh yeah what a humbling realization of golly i was not hard on my parents but we're
Starting point is 01:39:13 all kids and we have that mindset of man are they doing enough man they should do a better job at this stuff you kind of resent them for stuff you become a parent and you I don't know, you think of things. And then you also have that completely fully flipped empathy card of you understand that they were in different times to figuring out just as much, all the stress that they carried outside of the household and everything else that kind of operated there to where you kind of released that resentment a little bit. Dude.
Starting point is 01:39:41 And just looking at myself in the mirror, oh, Sherman, you're bad at communicating emotions that you're having. You're bad at communicating when you have stress. You're bad at delegating stress, blah, blah, blah. Oh, who's that remind me of? Yeah. That was going through that same thing and was doing it with two kiddos for all those years.
Starting point is 01:40:02 And it just makes you appreciate your mom and dad that much more of like, yeah, man. Damn. I'll save my quote because I think that was a great one to end on. I can save this one. This one's pretty evergreen. And the people in the comments, they'll be like, oh, Sherman, Sherman, we got to hear it. It's that good.
Starting point is 01:40:22 I promise. I did, I wanted to shout out, I believe his name was Nick. We went to the Ruby Slipper in Franklin, Tennessee. And he shared some extremely kind words to me when I was a little bit frustrated with Young Scarscar. She was thrown a fuss at the table. And I said, honey, let me take her outside and have her cool down. And I wanted to be eating my breakfast and was a little bit. frustrated dad, but wasn't showing it. And he came up and shared some really kind words and said
Starting point is 01:40:59 he was a huge fan of yours and loved before the dad's show. And it was just a really good reminder of like staying level-headed, staying in it and like appreciating those moments. Yeah, keep going. Dude, you just sparked a reminder. And I would have felt so shitty for forgetting this. When we were at Bustin and Paid on campus, this weekend, this weekend we're going to be Bustin Pade on Campus Friday afternoon. We're going to be in Knoxville, Tennessee. So, Chef, you got to hit all the group chats. You got to get all the boys ready to rock. I just text my little brother.
Starting point is 01:41:28 Let's go. We need everybody. We need everybody. But last week, the Auburn campus was rocking. Our best crowd yet. Some PT sickos in the crowd, bro. What? Sickos in the crowd.
Starting point is 01:41:41 And there was one that came up to me. His name. Shout out Ken Nielsen. Shout out Ken Nilsson. And he was bringing up the, I forget what part of the episode we're on, but we were talking about getting pulled over. And if the cop says, like, hey, if you listen to For the Dads, he might give you a little free. Is he a cop?
Starting point is 01:41:58 He's not, but his boy is who's also a sick of. The cop, his name is Evan. Okay. Won't say last name, won't put all that out there. But shout out Evan. Because Evan reached out to Ken and was like, if I get a moment, I'm going to be, if I spot a PT sick on the wild that I just pulled over, might give him a pass. Oh! And I said, man, if that happens, you got to call in and let us know.
Starting point is 01:42:20 Oh, my God. that would be so electric. All anonymously, of course. All anonymous. But if there's some cops out there that are PT sickos, you find another PT sickle in the wild, as long as there's a little, you know, I'm not going to tell you how to do your job.
Starting point is 01:42:35 Yeah, yeah, yeah. You just give them a little. Oh, that's what it is? I see it, buddy. I see you. You're just going to see people who listen to the show they get pulled over. They hurry up and throw on just our episode.
Starting point is 01:42:46 She says the cop comes up. Have it up. Oh, excuse me. Let me turn this down for a second. background just go, hey, you got in. That's up. Oh, let me turn this down for you. Was I speeding?
Starting point is 01:43:01 That wouldn't happen to be one shelf and all fat Stafford, was it? It was actually chef. He was selling us about how he is a Disney exec. He'll be calling Scarlett. I'm a big fan. You're good. It also reminds me, too. Final little housekeeping.
Starting point is 01:43:19 If you are a dad in the Knoxville area, you will be at that game. I know chef will be there. Willey C. will be there. Jilly Bean and I will be there. And come say what up at the bus and tailgate. Come say what up, man. Yeah. Come say what up.
Starting point is 01:43:35 At Kern's Bakery for anyone. So that way everyone knows. Thank you. At Kern's Bakery. Also, Friday show, Ayers Hall, 2 p.m. on the back lawn. Anyone from Knoxville, you know it. It's where they put game day. That's where we'll be at.
Starting point is 01:43:47 Show out. There's any. ST sickos out there that go to Tennessee. Show up. I know you're not going to do shit on Friday. Let's be honest with ourselves. Go walk over to air. It's a five-minute walk.
Starting point is 01:43:59 Come on. Take out the trash. We'll see you next week. Lisa, tell them about our new show. We have a new podcast. It's called Don't Lie to Me. I'm Lexi Youanu. We're two best friends,
