Good, read Willie.
Dude, can I just say something as we start this show?
I walked into the locker room, NFL locker room, feeling so confident, knowing in the back of my head,
I even said this to myself, hey, listen, it's week one.
Everyone thinks they have all the answers in week one.
And then week one of NFL hits.
And it's like, yeah, this is why the house always wins.
This is why you never know everything.
Because I felt like going into the season.
And the biggest thing that comes to my head, the Dallas Cowboys.
You and I were, this was from as a kid you were on them.
But this year, I jumped on them.
And Sunday night football takes place.
Jackson Dartham thinking to myself, he, you know, a lot of flash plays.
but as far as controlling a game and you're wrong.
I don't know.
Hey, offense and lines got a little bit better.
But Scataboo, there's a bunch of different running backs.
Can they get into it?
Malik neighbors is he healthy?
And then the Giants just dismantled the Cowboys defense.
When we really thought to ourselves, dude,
we looked ourselves in the eyes and said,
Cowboys defense is going to be better this year.
And I have to watch in the third quarter, fourth quarter,
Jackson Dart and the Giants run the same.
off it's a play like four out of five times and marched down the field just a quick wheel to
the running back quick wheel to run pitch out to the running back all to the left and it's like
the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result
well we had a different result as a coordinator last night we had a different result across the line
of scrimmage with the Dallas Cowboys I say we like this isn't my football team but this was this is
my team this kind of was we though this was us yeah like we bought into the
NFC East and we're like, oh, the Cowboys are going to wear the t-shirts at the end of the
regular season. Yeah. That's what we bought into. That obviously can still happen. But the blown
coverage is, I mean, it was disgusting defense across the board. Dude, so disgusting. Like,
me and my former head coach, Bo Polini, like, we don't casually text. We might check in once a
year or when a birthday comes around. I'd send him a happy Father's Day text that he didn't respond to.
But we don't just casually text, and he's blowing my phone up about how bad the defensive
defensive footballers for the Dallas Cowboys
because he said he heard me on the radio
last week. Talk about Dallas. When are you on the radio?
I don't know. Maybe he was
catching up and heard a song to get up. I have no clue.
Of all the stories you told me about Bo, that checks.
Yeah, yeah. I heard you on the radio
last week.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But he was losing his mind about the eyes of the linebackers.
All the Giants have to do is keep running sway and misdirection
and they're going to kill this team.
It's like you got NFL football players
but then you run a motion pre-snap.
They just, their brains get men-and-blacked wiped.
They have no idea what's coming next.
Yeah.
Basic motions.
Yeah.
Basic things taking place.
Giants look good though.
Likely?
Is he likely?
He's a dog?
Blake neighbors is a dog.
Scataboo is picking up where he left off where he got injured?
Who was a receiver from Notre Dame that they drafted the rookie?
Malikai Fields.
Malachi Fields.
I thought he looked really good.
He had a couple of crossing rounds.
Looks really nice in that.
Defensive line was doing a great job against a cowboy's office.
offensive line. It's like, yeah, I don't want to take it turn to negative town other than the
fact that we were so on the Cowboys. But also with the Giants, it's like I loved what I saw from
operation standpoint and seemed like Harbaal, his culture, his hard nose, we're going to run it down
your throat, we're going to play discipline football. All those things checked out. It's like,
oh, that's a John Harbaal coach football team right there. I will say, I think before I,
maybe you were also just on the Cowboys as well, and maybe you were on the fence, but before I was
like infecting your brain with some of the stuff.
I feel like you were excited about the Giants.
Like you were pretty high on, right?
Was I wrong about that?
Like, you felt good about the higher.
I'm always excited with the creatine concageasians.
Yeah, I like that.
I think they're going to be culturally a great football team
that was going to win those close games.
I was kind of on like, we started the futures
and I'm huge on Dag Prescott this year.
Yeah.
And you're big on Caleb Downs, which he's going to be a stud.
But then Hooker goes down.
They have a bunch of injuries take place.
And it's like, oh, shit, the Dallas defense is still fucking.
fucking bad.
Yeah,
they're still bad.
And that's where I get to like,
yeah,
like I love like Jackson Dart,
that the defense,
all of them,
they handled themselves correctly.
They looked like a playoff caliber team,
but I can't help in my brain be like,
it's the Cowboys defense.
How good can they really be?
Early reaction.
Oh,
yeah,
this week one.
We can react how we want.
Kevin Zetcher Foods,
clean take,
Giants Division to lose.
Wow.
Wow.
I don't hate that at all.
Hurt people, hurt people, man.
Giants Division to lose?
Do you disagree with that clump?
Yeah, I mean, 100%.
Yeah, are you kidding me?
I know you're an Eagles guy.
It's not even being an Eagles guy.
Are you happy with the performance you saw?
Like out of all four NFC East teams, who look the best?
Hold on.
Before we go to a different, oh yeah, before we go to a different game,
maybe we do a couple callbacks and there's a lot of fans that love to be a part of the show.
That's true.
And I can see us getting in this conversation back,
we got to wrap and then we got a call back to interior talk.
Because we had a sick O pod last week.
We had a Hall of Fame podcast.
Legitimately, a Hall of Fame podcast.
This is Jaker Mayfield says Luke's mind is unreal.
Dude's like a beautiful mind for football.
It's no wonder he's a Hall of Famer.
I mean, you sit with Luke and Drew Brees
and just watch them go back and forth
complimenting each other and breaking down specific plays
that they can both recall
and remember where they were, where the eyes were going,
the salt and peppercall, all the things.
It's like, you just sit back here like,
I hope they just keep telling stories over and over again.
And either of them, like, what are they not good at?
Because Luke Kikley, his debut, like Drew's been doing it,
but Luke Kikley crushed his debut on Netflix,
color commentating a game.
There was one, we had one comment in here with somebody,
I don't know who he argues with on a daily basis,
but was kind of arguing for Drew Brees
on just being the most underappreciated and underrated quarterback of all time.
but this is from the open court
72.31 again you want a chance to get
featured on the sode
just drop comments in the YouTube
or we also do tier talk
you hashtag tier talk we will give you a shot to be featured
on the show but this one Drew Breeze
is without a doubt the most underrated
quarterback to ever play
no way in hell there are 10 guys I'm taking
over him people don't care about the little
things like how much he truly cared
for every teammate which is so
huge as a quarterback and his play on the
field that his size is unbelievable
And I'm reading that comment.
I'm like, I wonder if he just has somebody he argues with every day that doubts
Drew Brees because I'm thinking, yeah, I feel like it's pretty clear across the board
that people really do appreciate your.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I do, I do want to point out that there was no exclamation points in that if you're, if
you're just listening.
You read it like that.
Like he was arguing with somebody.
But as a teammate of Drew Brees, can you stamp that?
In Clump 2, yeah, first ballot hall of famer.
Yeah, that is wild.
First bout, how can you be underrated if you're a first.
style of Hallfamer.
I do think, though, like,
what kind of what he's getting at is Breeze does,
he never gets put into the conversation
with Brady Manning.
And then obviously now, like the Mahomes of the world.
Like, it's never,
it's never Mahomes,
Manning, Brady Breeze.
Yeah.
Like, he's always left out of that.
Maybe he needs that.
Yeah.
I think that becomes a better argument all of a sudden.
Yeah.
Now it's like, okay,
we have something to argue about a little bit.
Then I'm with it.
Because I think that's a reach to put him
that conversation. I think Drew Breeze is unbelievable.
And it's that
it's that reaction that has comments like that taking place.
Yeah. Now I get it. Because then you bring up
your reason and you're oh yeah he was a stud. He's a no no no
you ain't respecting it. He appreciated his
teammates and team.
Yeah you can look at a majority of
good football players but that guy's a stunt and be like yeah
he's a stunt but you don't call Drew Bree's just a
stunt like you gotta call him a goat.
You got to say Mount Rushmore.
He's underappreciated. He's underappreciated.
He's under with that guy. You know what?
He made the walk through
two minute drill being pregame cool like he was all about every single mental snap but as a teammate
did you feel like he cared about you for those 14 days oh yeah we were in the hot tub and cold tub a couple
times and I was like oh he sees me he sees me he sees me he spoke to you didn't feel like he was up here
and you were down here no no he treated you like an equal yeah oh yeah we're talking about how much uh
why am i drawn a blank greatest greatest football player of all time taste some hill taste some hill we're sitting there
We were sitting there, he was talking highly
about how much Taysam Hill squatted on the squat rack.
Oh, he's just aware.
We're having some good laughs.
Like, yeah, he's a bro's bro, dude.
God, that's got a juicy.
Just mucking it up in the cold tub.
Could you imagine Wilcompton, Drew Brees,
and Taysam Hill in a hot tub together?
I mean, that's...
That is a lot of creatines in that tub.
That's a goaded blunt rotation right there.
You want to sit there with the boys.
Yeah, Drew, tell me everything.
Who was Luke in the booth with?
Eagle.
Oh, I and Eagle?
Dude.
Mogging him.
I'm like, man, we might got to find him a different.
With the stare too, bro.
But he was kind of like leaned back talking to Luke.
That intensity, dude.
I mean, him when he was in the bus the first time by himself.
Just him like going back in time and talking about plays of him being in Tampa 2 and then like, you know, he knew he was going to break.
So he ran out.
It was just, it's beautiful.
He has a beautiful mind when it comes to football.
This is a comment that'll have your piss high.
Alex J. Mary says
Bustin is on a rise that we have...
Okay, let's try again.
You want me to hit it?
No, no, no, I'll do it.
I'm going to do my best.
Rending down.
I don't know if we are on a rise anymore.
Bustin is on a rise that we...
Got, okay, go ahead.
I can't read it, dude.
Bustin is on a rise that we have all been calling for the last seven years.
Yeah, we are.
This is the week, boys.
Lock in from Alex Mary.
Might not be able to read, but we're on a huge rise,
and it says he edited the comment, too.
Like, maybe he edited it as well as...
he could for you to hit it.
Maybe.
For you to read it.
I told you, we didn't talk about this, but like the night before we did get up last week,
Taylorin gave me a test on my phone or on her phone.
She's like, hey, go through this test real quick.
It was like an online test.
And I went through it and I gave it back to her.
She goes, oh, you scored 11 out of 15.
I was like, for what?
She goes, if you score like six or above, like it's, you probably have dyslexia.
I was like, oh, what?
She's like, yeah, you need to look into that.
And then all of a sudden, we were getting on Get Up on Thursday.
It's like, what, not even 8 a.m.
and I get a bunch of AI screenshots
about how to handle dyslexia
as a person who can't read good.
How to stay positive.
How to stay positive
as you go through this trying time.
11 out of 15 though.
High achiever for dyslexia, dude.
I need to go to a doctor
and get my eyes checked
and then go to a doctor
and see if I'm going with dyslexia.
So yeah.
So you're on the spectrum?
I guess so, dude.
I've been talking about it for a while.
I kind of want to be.
I want my one.
Superpower.
Yeah, but that's funny.
I just had a little chocker.
Got to have it.
Oh, we had another.
Tier Talk or call back,
and I'm going to let Will Compton read this one.
It's from Brando, 950.
This is a quote he had from Delaney Walker.
Don't just be thinking they're going to be throwing favors.
Delaney is going to kill it with the new pod.
Big congrats to the mule.
Shout out Delaney Walker.
It's a interesting week to see what they talk about.
Titans Uncut.
Is that what it's called Titans Uncut?
That's, we'll see it.
Uncutted is.
Yeah.
We will see how uncutters.
Great transition though, Jack.
You were at week one NFL season sitting on Nissan Stadium.
Last opening home game for the Tennessee Titans in Nissan Stadium.
Tell us what you saw.
100 degree heat.
Hot as hell there.
I got M.C. I think it was like 1122 and I was like this might have been even too early
to sit here.
It was so hot.
They were handing out some CJ 2K memorabilia, a little pin.
The Music City Miracle towel.
So like in your head, you're like, we just hope we got to perform against the Jets.
And this wasn't a we got outplayed game.
This was a we got bullied for 60 minutes of football and had one garbage time TD.
We paid so much money this offseason for a defensive line to be something.
And I'm pretty sure Gino Smith in a post game interview says, I don't think I was touched one time.
Quick potty break.

Let's get back to the episode.
It is one of the most embarrassing week one performance for the Titans,
maybe for any NFL team ever.
And then when you see the Cardinals are doing it,
the Giants are doing it,
the Saints even had a shot,
and you've got these quarterbacks that came out
or came out with Cam Ward and they're performing.
And there's so much talk about whose fault is it on?
Is it Cam Ward?
Is it the new coaching staff?
Is it just we're regressing even more?
I don't know, but I will say that the play calling was horrendous.
I think the longest throw cam had was for 14 yards.
It's just checked down screens that are in the dirt.
It's gross.
It's uninspiring.
And if we come in this week at home against the Eagles and it's the same caliber of football,
we very well could already see the season in before October.
I don't want to be that pessimistic Titans fan.
know how much I ride for it, but it's like, dude, for how hot it was yesterday, I know a lot of
those fans in Nissan were boiling physically and mentally. So, yeah, being a Titans fan, yet again,
is just a job at this point. I don't get to enjoy my Sunday.
It's a job at this point. I have to just stand by and hopefully they make the right decisions.
Again, new coaching staff, a lot of new pieces. It's week one, but when you lose to a Jets team
that is debatably worse than you on paper going into the season,
and they just absolutely embarrass you at home,
it's a horrible look for the franchise.
And it's like,
are we just shaking off dust,
or is the team even worse than we were last year?
What do we do with Cam Ward?
Is it time to hit the panic button?
People are already screaming for Tribitsky.
I was throwing up Ryan Tanna Hill,
black and white photos on Twitter.
It's...
Week one.
It was brutal.
I'm not here jumping ship.
You guys know how I.
ride. But we're, I mean, we got the Eagles and then we go to New York. And that's the last place.
I feel like you want to play right now in the NFL.
Dude, just to sum up, the Titans Week 1, this video you posted on Twitter, dude, of you
with the headphones in on a 10 speed and hearing the like the squeakiness of the brakes
and the chain as you're like breaking down how bad it was.
Like four people are like, you got to get those brakes checked.
Dude, I'm like rocking my baby thing and Jack's in hell right now.
Oh, in hell.
100 degree heat, peddling home.
Girlfriend calls me.
Well, I call her and she goes, hey.
Everything okay?
And I'm like, it's all good.
Like, you know, whatever.
Yeah.
We can't let grown men dictate your mental health or even younger men.
Most of these kids are younger than me.
So I don't know where we go from here.
Again, I feel like I've been saying this for the last three years after week one.
We haven't won a week one game, I think, since maybe 2019.
It's tough.
It's embarrassing.
But caged animal, Michigan-type mentality, even though you guys won week one, all I'm saying,
the birds better play.
Love a good wounded animal.
We love it on college football.
You can turn the things around, no problem.
To our listeners who don't care at all about what's going on in Tennessee, if you are a believer,
please have your thoughts and prayers going to Nashville's way because Tennessee fans should be
fuming. And also another horrible instance in Titans Twitter, Ballin, who's Titans, you know,
advocate, a friend of mine, he posted in August, if the Jets come to Nashville and beat the Tennessee
Titans, I will walk from New York to Nissan Stadium. He put that on social? He put that on social in August.
And then if you go to the comments, he's also tweeting back at Jets fan saying,
well, what if y'all do lose?
He's like, we'll never lose to the lousy Jets.
And then, you know, you get embarrassed.
He has since deactivated his Twitter.
A lot of people are referencing the FSU fan who said he would eat dog shit.
So I think it's truly up to him if we're going to turn this season around.
And I won't go into the details, but he has texted me within the last out.
He reached out kind of trying to figure.
out what he does from here.
And there's truly only one thing
you can do and it's buy a good
pair of walking shoes and hit the dusty
trail. Yeah, because you look at what happened with the
Florida State fan last year, could that have honestly
been the demise of all Florida State football?
They're still suffering. Yeah.
Still suffering. Two years ago. Fired their athletic director.
Is there a world? Should we possibly
call ball in right now? We can.
Should we call ball in and get him on the horn?
I don't know if he's ready. Like,
clearly he seems rattled about what to even
do you're texting you're texting jacking like hey don't amplify this anymore and like we maybe it'll
fly under the radar but it's like that's not how you get through this well he had reached out a former
employer of ours they reached out to him wanting him to come on a said live show and I said hey man
just know they're going to corner you and if you do not make that walk there's there's no positive
for you to do this but I said but you should you need to face the music I first said you need to
reactivate your Twitter account.
Yeah, I have to.
Like, you can't run from this.
Like, you put it out there.
You must stand on the premise that you tweeted, we would beat the Jets.
It's a brutal look for him.
It's a brutal look for Titans fans.
And it's something that could follow us deep, deep into a hole.
The whole season's hanging in the balance of a couple thousand miles.
I mean, you see, Tate, he's at McDonald's right now.
He's hammering him.
Say what you want about Ohio, Tate.
That's a man of honor.
That is a man of honor.
That's a guy who sits there, he puts that a whole thing, right?
Any game they lose, he'll do X, Y, and Z.
Post it, put it on writing.
24 hours at McDonald's, every Big Mac he eats, he'll drop an hour.
And I was texting with him this morning.
And I think he was three or four Big Macs down, and it was about 9 a.m.
Accountability.
Yeah.
So, this is the walking treadmill.
I mean, Ohio tape, man.
He's holding it down for Ohio State right now.
So we don't want to call ball
We'll just leave it what it is
He'll see the episode
I'm sure if he's a Titans fan
He'll hear your opinion
If he went on PMT
Then we can't have him on buss
Yeah
We already know
How that fucking cookie crumbles
That's becoming a caged animal again
Yeah yeah
So I don't know
And overall yeah
You guys are taking your tail to PMT
Okay
No
I see what's happening
It's all good
What?
No
Is they nervous about PMT guys
Coming at you?
No
I'm just respecting the order
Like in line
You know if they've reached out before
I mentioned it
Okay fair
Right
Fair
You feeling aggressive or you want it?
No no no I'm not feeling aggressive
I'm just I'm thinking through the process
You saw the way I was trying to read
Obviously my brain's not firing all
Cellular is right now
The only good news about this ball in situation
Is if we do get embarrassed by the Eagles
We don't have to blame Cam Ward
We don't have to blame Robert Sala
We have a clear core
of action, but I hope he's going to do the right thing.
And I like ball and balling ball.
It's a good dude.
How many miles is it from Nissan Stadium to MetLife?
How long is that walk?
I really want to be.
It ain't good.
It ain't good.
Let's see.
It ain't good.
Let's see.
From the bus, I want to avoid busy roads.
Unfortunately, there's no route.
Oh, for real?
He's good.
He doesn't have to do it.
Yeah.
The driving time to leave from the bus to New York is 12 hours and 48 minutes.
And that's driving on major highways in interstates.
It would take roughly 1.7 to 1.9 million steps to walk from New York City to Nissan Stadium.
Get your steps in.
Get your steps in.
Now, if he's by himself solo, got a couple corners, hit a bus ride, a couple Ubers.
Oh, yeah.
Hit a hotel overnight.
Pretending you've been walking on a long.
But then the curse doesn't lift.
That's true.
The curse won't lift.
Hasn't lifted in Florida State.
You can't go,
you can't go deactivation mode though
when you had it out there and writing.
Gotta face the music.
And this could be a time too
where he propels not only his personal brand
but the Titans fandom into a new stratosphere.
You could be the savior of basketball.
Jack, I feel like you have to,
you have to hold him a kind of a kind of are the face of the,
you're one of the faces of the Titans.
of Jack McPherson is the face of
of Tracy Titans. You were in a commercial.
Hashtag brand partner.
Yeah.
Hashtag brand partner, man.
I mean, I let him know.
I said there's no other option besides you walking.
Yeah, there's no positive outcome.
Yeah.
Sinema Texu.
You understand this, right?
There's no way around it, but
yeah, great week one, you know.
Great week one.
You said we two, Eagles.
Clump, how are we feeling about your Eagles?
Yeah, going back.
You're going to be at the game too?
I will hopefully be at the game.
We'll see.
trying my best to be at the game, yes.
Oh, yeah, it'll work out.
It'll work out.
You're getting a sweet?
No, no.
Titans figuring it out against the Eagles seems like a pretty tall task.
Will is just turning into an Eagles hater.
I literally just said for the Titans to figure it out.
I'm going back to the Giants thing.
He raised his voice at you.
He did raise his voice.
He got a line.
I'll say this, though.
Eagles smart move getting under center more.
I thought they had their operation.
They seem like they're a team that's understanding,
their strengths in utilizing it.
Getting Sequan going.
That hurts look kind of nice.
Hertz looks kind of nice.
Thanks for that.
Hurts look kind of nice for that game.
It's week one.
Yeah, they won their first game.
They won.
They did not play.
They looked solid in the first half.
I just think they have a great defense.
They're going to be a good football team.
Yes.
When you can run the football, which they didn't even run the ball as well as they could,
but they can run the football and they play good defense.
To me, to me, you could take the Giants.
You're backing off your your cowboys take, which is fine.
I'm not backing off.
All I do is ask you a question.
I said out of the four NFC East teams
who looked the best in week one.
You're backing off.
The Eagles.
No, the Giants, they'd look the best.
Jackson Dart looked nice, but
got it.
It's all about longevity.
Yeah.
Surviving the year.
Hey, what the fuck happened
with the Cardinals and the Chargers?
What happened there?
There's some theories on the internet.
We went to camp.
Justin Herbert's new fiancé.
Oh no
Yeah
What's it
We're blaming the wife
They said that the chargers
Looked bad
On and off the field
Oh
Why
You know
New girlfriend distractions
There's videos in camp
Of them
Holding hands
Guglii out at each other

What I try to do is faux journal.
I don't know.
Have you guys heard of faux journaling?
Yeah, it's reading.
It's called reading.
So we don't like to use that word anymore.
Okay.
A panel of New Yorker cartoonists.
Have you guys done Terry Gross's Peloton class?
No!
I've been dying too.
I'm so sorry.
I'm seeing a reading of Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes by Audra McDonald's at the Wonderland Bookstore.
That's crazy.
I went to the Wonderland Bookstore yesterday.
today and I heard Nora Jones do a reading of Zero Dark 30.
No way.
You have to come to the last bookstore, though.
Kim Cottrell is reading the guitar tabs of yesterday.
A panel of Eurovision participants.
And we do a little Halloween sometimes.
Does the Pope dress up?
He winks on Halloween.
He gets right up next to the microphone.
I hear you can almost hear the eyelashes hit each other.
You never seen Italy so quiet as when the Pope gets up to wink on Halloween.

Middle School is a different world than the one we grew up in.
I'm Dr. Joy, and this is Therapy for Black Girls.
We spend real time on it in our surviving middle school run, bringing in a child psychologist and a psychiatrist who's raising two black girls of his own to talk about what's really going on with our kids right now.
So it's literally physiological and neurological and psychological and psychological chaos happening all of the same time.
We got into group chats and gaming, friendships and bullying,
and how to tell the difference between healthy monitoring and the kind of surveillance that erodes trust.
There's belonging. You could think of belonging as I can be myself and I can still be accepted.
And then there's fitting in.
Spitting in says I have to change who I am in order to avoid rejection.
Then we turn the conversation toward the fathers, sitting down.
with therapist care gains on Black fatherhood and what it means to raise a daughter through
this stage. You don't have on shorts, so you can't do flips, you have on the dress, so you have to
cross your legs. That's the range of this run, from screen time to identity to the father's
doing the work at home. You have to get off her device, but the reality is there's a lot of life
out there that we don't want you as your adults in their life to miss out on. This has been our
surviving middle school run. Brought to you by the people who spend their careers thinking about
exactly this. I'm Dr. Joy.

Self Care September is here, which means it's time to rethink what self-care actually means.
Yes, self-care can be a long walk.
It can be in everything shower.
It can be putting your phone on, Do Not Disturb.
But sometimes it's actually about sitting with the uncomfortable stuff.
And understanding your patterns, your boundaries, finally figuring out while you keep doing things that you swore you would never do again.
I'm Gemma, the host of the psychology of your 20s.
podcast, and each week we unpack the psychology behind the experiences that shape your 20s,
from relationships and friendships to money, anxiety, confidence, attachment, just becoming more
comfortable with who you are. Unlike the quarter life crisis, which is depicted as the
collapse, the quarter life reinvention is the expansion and growth of something. When we develop
the ability to be happy by ourselves, nobody else can take that from you. So this self-care
September, don't just take care of yourself. Get to know yourself as well.
Listen to the psychology of your 20s on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
They're always going to...
Stroking hair.
I'm not saying that this is the reason...
You're reporting the news.
You're just reporting the news.
Okay.
All right.
You know, the same way in Nashville, someone has to be blamed.
So it can't be the coaches or players.
No, no shot.
Of course not.
It's week one.
And I'm sure Madison Beers is sitting wherever she's sitting right now and understanding that
this comes to the territory of being engaged to Justin Herbert.
We can fully
Clean take
That's a clean take
That's a Kevin Central Foods clean take
Accountability
Take the blame
Keep it pushing
That's not a kid
Is that not?
That is a Kevin's Natural Foods clean take
I think it is
I mean
That's just the news
But the Cardinals 26
That's a bad beat
And McDaniel's the brilliant mind
That he's supposed to be
On the opposite side of the ball
Comes over after getting fired
From Miami
14 points
That's a bad beat
There was the quote too
He's like
I can finally call
plays that I've never been able to call before
with Justin Herbert as my quarterback and
just didn't look good
week one. Maybe two it was never the problem.
Yeah,
one Lefleur performed well in
week one. Yeah.
The second one did not. The other one
had a good first couple quarters.
Yeah. Look kind of nice.
But you knock out the starting cue for
Minnesota and Collar, which by the way, like that
looked. Insanely, a brutal, dirty hit.
Brutal hit that Kyler took.
But you can't
He can't beat the Vikings?
Carson Wentz?
He was trending.
He was trending on X.
Crazy fourth quarter for them.
I mean, school of Kevin O'Connell, man.
If you're a quarterback that's suffering,
you need to go to Minnesota.
Things will get figured out for you.
Carson Wentz, everyone saw his career.
He's a backup now,
and all of a sudden goes in,
he starts dishing it.
That's a crazy, that hit,
I don't know even who will put the hit
from the Packers,
but seeing that play,
like there was ill intent that took place with that hit.
The big of Justin Jefferson, too, that one's sad.
Did you see it?
No.
There's like an angle of Justin Jefferson holding Kyler's helmet
kind of just being like all distraught,
let his guys down.
It's a bad one.
Tough, dude, tough slide in week one.
Minnesota, a little spicy.
Mississippi.
They used a little spicy, do those bears.
Chicago Bears are looking nice right now.
Outside of the Packers.
59 points.
Yeah.
Unreal.
I mean, Caleb Williams.
He might be the guy, dude.
Dude, he might be honest.
And you see the post game, the whole locker room's clamoring for Ben Johnson
do his phrasing the call recall thing they do.
And they're all like, they're so bought into his culture right now.
They are so body.
And Caleb about there with the stash on the post game presser being like, I know we play
well, but there's some things are correct offensively.
But he just put up college numbers.
And this is the stat, the highest scoring NFL Sunday in modern era since the 1970 merger,
53.3 points per matchup.
Bro, I am so happy.
I didn't get to the Fandelat before some of the slate started.
So happy.
Because I'm thinking, week, week.
It's always under.
Under.
It's going to be an under weekend.
It's always under.
And I am so happy.
I did not touch that.
I'm sure who's got something highlighted right here.
It says which was better.
Week one of the NFL or week two of college football.
It's a great question.
It's a great question to put out there.
To be honest, dude, just for me, week two of college football.
I mean, it's like not close.
My team won and week one in the NFL, my team lost.
So that's pretty easy for me.
Yeah, like I was thinking about nothing but college football headlines
all throughout Sunday.
Like I'm keeping up with the NFL games.
We've got the fantasy football league going on.
So I'm kind of looking out for some players,
but kind of just score watching throughout the day on Sunday.
Catching some highlights.
Obviously, I have to dive in this week on what happened with, like, the Cowboys
and everything that kind of took place to Packers, what's going on in Green Bay, right?
What's going on with the charges right now?
Is McVeigh going to get it turned around?
Miles Garrett going on IR.
Brutal.
A.J. Brown being hurt.
Patriots going to get it figured out.
Yeah, Miles Garrett.
We'll dive into that stuff, but I wasn't.
What is the reason for Miles Garrett being on IR?
What was the injury?
Was it his hip?
His knee.
Or his knee.
His knee, surgery on his knee.
Do we know what it was?
Meniscus, MCL, PCL.
It sounded like it was more of a scope than an actual.
A little clean out.
But IR is eight weeks, correct?
Four weeks.
Okay, it's a short-term one.
I mean, yeah, because he looked very pedestrian
against Trent Williams in that game in Australia.
Trent Williams.
Choked him out.
He needs, like, he is the best office of linemen of all time.
I still don't know why the Rams went out there
the day before.
That was such a big topic of conversation.
Yeah, what were their staffers doing, though?
They're probably out there partying with Australians
and just stayed up the whole time.
15 staffers over the last two years
they'd send out to get some data in analytics on sleep,
body recovery.
And I'm thinking, God, I love football, dude,
for week one, just out in Australia, to try to get a win.
These guys are psychos and I love it.
And then my follow-up afterwards,
like, okay, this was a bad move.
They over thought it.
Paralysis by analysis.
I mean, Stafford didn't look great.
Brock Purdy looked nice.
Brock Purdy looked nice out there.
That offense looked good, man.
I was at...
Devo.
Devo back where he belongs.
I was at soccer practice.
I was like Thursday last week before the game.
And one of the dads came out to me and he was like,
I'd be honest, I'm just not high on Brock Purdy.
I just think he's got...
He started kind of giving me a take.
I'm like, buddy, I'm just going to let you know.
You need to take that.
take and you need to shove it up your ass ain't no way
I've been there did that
do not do that do not talk bad about
Brockport I'm just telling you dog
I'm just that we don't do that
and also shout out George Kittle
Achilles what was that January when he had the
Achilles it was like eight months to the day
of the game I think bro just so crazy
how well he played like blocking had himself a couple
like he looked great for his first game off
in Achilles mowing some boys down
mowing some cats down.
Nice to see.
Yeah.
Love me some George kiddle.
Clay did well on the broadcast.
Clay did nice, dude.
He was out there rock with old Big Dick Foles.
Yeah.
Michael Irvin.
Nick, St. Nick, dude, he was out there.
I was texting with him about it.
He was flying back.
I think this was like Friday or Saturday.
He says from the future.
Yeah, he says flying back now.
He was happy the way it went.
He said there's a lot of film.
You could watch him correct.
And he started talking to me about right before they came on
like all the production and stuff.
I'm like, oh, buddy, yeah, that's like the most,
that it feels like before a game.
Every time you're like doing a big thing
and it's like they're counting down,
someone's starting and like,
you don't feel good until after you've spoken for the first time.
But the first time you speak, it's like,
I just got to get something out.
Yeah.
And then everything goes smooth.
But I thought he did a great job.
He's got four games.
He's doing four games this year.
Thanksgiving and Christmas too, I think.
Oh, dang.
Yeah, so he's got a handful of them, ma'am.
Get it done.
Shout out Clay.
Shout out the boy.
Shout out.
Clay Moneyline Matthews.
Clay money line Matthews.
How did Clay do on the locker room?
Because I know he was swinging a big stick.
We don't have to get that at like all of it right now.
I see you know like good or not great or whatever.
I don't need to know a number.
Suspect.
Suspect.
We'll find out on the leaderboard.
We'll find out on the leaderboard.
Yeah, Thursday morning.
Big news.
Do you say good or bad?
Oh, bad.
Okay.
All right.
That's all we find out.
Who came out on top over the weekend?
Taylor's in first
Come on
Sling I hit up
Oh
Oh no
Play's in third
No
No
Willie C
Tough week one
NFL
He didn't use
He didn't use all his units
though
So it can't be that bad
It's somehow
Still pretty bad
But yeah
We'll find out
On the Ford leader board
Comes out Thursday
Morely
See in week one
And that's all good,
Dude.
That's what they say.
Just, hey,
it's not how you start.
Delaney Walker's taught us anything, dude.
It's not how you start.
Like Cody sent me a text.
Hey, you're doing pretty good in the college football.
And I'm like, dude, I don't even want to hear that right now.
Because it'll bite you in the ass.
It'll bite you start looking at all your wins.
Stack days, stack weeks.
Keep it going.
Man in the arena.
One thing to be excited about, Willie C is turning 37 years old this week.
A birthday week for Willie C.
Stop.
Come on.
Guys,
stop going off in the comments.
Happy birthday, Willie C.
Yeah.
I did a, I thought you were turning 38.
38 sounds old.
Sounds scary.
37 sounds nice.
It's cute.
Yeah, I feel good about it.
I'm excited.
Body's holding up all right.
Yeah.
I see you're posting daily
about your zone and your workouts.
You're feeling good.
The boy has been locked in.
Been locked.
I'll just say that.
That's it.
Stack days.
Good momentum.
Good routine.
Gotta have it.
The boys locked in right now.
What can we expect from a body comp standpoint,
Jan 1 at 27?
This time next year, let's say.
This time next year?
This time next year.
I want to get at birthday week.
Willie C's turn 38.
We all have a big clap.
What are we staring at here?
Probably 13% body fat.
All right.
The floor.
The floor.
Do we want to say we're at now?
Oh, I measured.
And when was it?
Maybe in the spring, I was 27% body fat,
like 600 grams of visceral fat,
sitting on the old muffin top.
Yeah.
It's kind of a wake-up call.
That's good.
Chol is bad.
It is brave.
A lot of people would shy away from that type of stuff.
Blood work was okay, but like blood pressure was up.
Cholesterol was sky high.
Cholesterol thing could be like a genetic thing.
But yeah, it's one of those you walk away
you're kind of just, you're just riding quiet in your truck,
looking in the rearview mirror a lot.
Like, buddy, you got to fucking, it's time.
You got to tighten up.
I love that.
I take you this.
I'm a little tightened up.
And like when we were at LSU because I noticed this when I was editing the vlog,
Bissaccia tried to like try to go at Will a little bit when he grabbed your,
your stomach.
He was like, oh damn, Will.
Yeah.
All right, coach.
Like, come on, man.
You ain't got to make me finish shit.
He slapped the shit at him too.
You slut my neck, fucking grab me in the stomach.
Yeah.
Yeah, I slept the shit up.
Body comps though, dude.
Like you're putting the work in.
It's not gonna show for a certain amount of time.
That's why so many people quit.
So when people grab that, it's just a quick reminder.
Wait till you see him next.
Yeah.
Firm.
You grab his shit.
What is this?
And rub the top of his head, man.
Where's that at?
Yeah.
I'm down eight right now.
8%?
8 pounds.
Okay.
I was gonna say eight.
Holy shit.
From the holiday season lock-in will be key.
Key.
that is massive
last year during the football season
when I got away from like working out
like honestly probably the worst run I've had
in my entire life
as far as working out goes
yeah
yeah because even when I was done playing
like I still like kept up with stuff
and managed it
once I was all in about it managed it
but last season fell off
fell off all the way
didn't do shit during holiday season
wasn't doing shit coming out of the Super Bowl
wasn't doing shit coming out of the Super Bowl
wasn't doing shit
Shit, period, bro.
A lot of ice cream.
I'm talking about
our probably around five months
of doing absolutely nothing.
No way.
How was it getting back into it?
Because sometimes that can be,
you get five months away from it.
It was fucking tough.
You go to sit on the toilet
after that first week getting back,
it's always the most painful.
Yeah, it was tough.
It was tough.
But we've, you know,
we've been stacking days.
So, one week at a time.
37 years old,
might be the healthiest year
of your entire life
is what we're hearing right now.
Yeah.
Yep.
Let's go.
I like that.
It's happening.
I like that, dude.
Big time.
A, big news in the Rippin' with the Boys world.
Pokemon 30th anniversary comes out in the 19th, 18th, 18th, 18th.
Pokemon, got to catch them.
30 years of Pokemon.
And they are finally coming out.
We have our Rippin stream 7 p.m. Central Time on Tuesdays.
After that stream, Coleman will be going to stores.
I think it's GameStop to go camp out for the drop,
just for 30th anniversary.
That's how bought in he is
into the ripping world.
He's got to go, man.
What?
He's got to go.
Like, bought in, you go.
Go, got to see it.
Gotta keep seeing it.
Hell yeah, he does.
Hell yeah, he does.
So, yes, it's an exciting week
with the boys.
We got to go, man.
It's like Oregon right now.
Hey, guys, we got to fucking,
we got to go.
I know we're all bought in.
We got to go.
Could you imagine
if Oregon had a bye week?
Oh, they need to get this Portland state.
They need to figure it out.
Yeah, got to go.
Gotta go.
That's inspiring, though, because something that we've lost
over the last decade or two is showing up to midnight releases
at brick and mortar like video game stores.
Yes.
That is, that's true fandom.
It's what you love about it.
It's going to a GameStop at 11 p.m.
to get the new Call Duty release.
Obviously, he's getting the Pokemon,
but we need more camping out for trading cards, video games.
We need to just be back out.
movie premieres.
So this is a, you know, on top of getting the 30th anniversary
Pokemon, this could hopefully spark a new inspiration of younger kids
to go out there, camp out, get your favorite cards, get your favorite video games.
I think it's inspiring.
Which is now also on the parents too.
Like, you've got to have a longer leash to let your kids go do these things.
Trust them.
Trust them.
Hey, what'd that sound like today, buddy?
That's like that Kevin's actual food's clean take to me.
That's how I like to me.
Hand up.
I've never done the camp out thing before.
Did you guys ever?
Yeah.
I did it for the first from Call of Duty 4 through the next four releases.
So it was 7th grade through 10th grade.
I went every midnight because it comes out the week of my birthday.
So it was like a double dip where I'm like, mom, you know, this is what I want for my birthday.
I also want to go out there and I want to be able to stay up until 4 a.m. and play it.
It's special to be out there with a group of like-minded people that you normally don't.
don't hang out with in real life,
but you all are there for a common theme.
And that's, it's fucking awesome.
Have you ever camped out for anything?
I think, no, because I won the first iPhone.
Damn.
How you're doing it?
Steve Jobs gave it to me too.
What is it called like the senior, the senior class?
For parking passes?
Oh, like the raffle?
Like for the end of the year where the senior class
after graduation does like, we did like a lock in,
a sleepover at,
Not Dave and Busters, but like a Bonter version of Davey Busters.
Chucky cheese?
Yeah, I forget what it's called, but our senior class has something going into.
It's where parents of the senior class, they're trying to raise money.
They're trying to raise funds to where we do our thing after graduation happens.
We went to do a lock-in somewhere.
But one of the things to raise money was selling all the little coupon booklets.
And if you won, you got an Xbox and you got the first generation iPhone.
I remember sitting in that auditorium being like, I'm going to fucking win both of the things.
these things.
Legit.
Like, there's a couple I was kind of
keeping my eye on like, okay, they could do good.
Like, you know, they got the families
that can probably give them money to win this thing.
I was like, I'm going to go fucking door to door
and I'm going to win this thing.
And you won?
Yes.
But how much?
What was the margin of victory?
I think I won by $3 or $400.
And we're talking $20, we're talking $20
with little booklets.
Yeah, you were smacking.
Dude, I was out there.
I was hunting.
Yeah.
But I remember locking in like,
because I knew I wasn't going to get shit
like that for Christmas.
But I'm like, I'm going to,
I'm fucking winning that first generation iPhone.
God.
Not a few when they called your name.
Will Compton, please come to the front and accept the good.
Looking at Sean Henderson, like, what, son?
I told you I was going to win this shit.
Did they announce it in the auditorium, or was it over the loudspeakers at the school?
I can't remember.
Yeah, I can't remember.
No.
I remember the smile on my face and like getting them.
Jail breaking that first generation iPhone.
No way to Cal it.
Jail breaking iPhones.
She's moving wallpaper.
Yeah.
Damn, dude.
That's a sick story.
Yeah.
I kind of wish you sit on a podium and give like a victory speech or something.
So I knew that the hustler mentality is like, I'm winning this shit, bro.
Like I didn't smack by $400.
Did say many words?
In high school is a crazy, crazy number.
That's like you had like 30 books.
Yeah.
30 coupon books.
It didn't speak much, didn't say many words, just knew.
Hey, it's time to go.
It's time to go.
Coleman, Oregon.
That boy, fake phone calls the first week he had that phone.
Just pretend he was walking around
Everyone knew he won that shit
He called everyone
Everyone
It's my number
It's like yeah will your number hasn't changed
I just so you know it's on my iPhone though
This is also with a 10.6 GPA at the time
Hell yeah
Big brain thinking dude
Big brain thinking with that 10.6
And look hey when I was driving the other two
I was like it might have been a 108
Have you read the comments on that
I've seen some of them
Not in your favor
Not in his favor
Everyone's like that did not exist
Yo dude yeah
I never I've never
I heard that in my life.
What's that?
The 11 GPA grading scale did exist.
I saw some comments saying that that existed.
From school.
Why is he so defected that?
I saw one.
He's ready to go today, dude.
Someone was ready to come out of me.
What'd you mean?
What did you mean I saw one?
Yeah, yeah, I saw one person that was real, so it's real.
I just, I want to shout out the member of Taylor going,
what about you, Will, you ever camped out for anything?
Nah, man, but I want an iPhone.
Had nothing to do with the camping.
I'm trying to think, like, I stayed up, but this was the Xbox era where you could buy the games online,
but staying up till midnight for Red Dead.
But I wasn't, I've never been at a store waiting.
Imagine if they put GTA6 in stores only.
That would be.
They should do that like the night before.
Like, hey, just say, no, you can't pre-order this.
You can't get it online.
GameStop, look it up.
Your nearest one.
I feel.
Yeah.
Yeah. I feel like you'd love it, Taylor. I could get behind that for sure. I've had a situation that Willhead in middle school with a with a speaker system that I won, but I've never I've never camped out. What do you mean with me?
I won and you made a face.
Like, oh, like a rat, like I won like a raffle thing.
Oh, it didn't seem like it was fixed. Oh, you want a 50. 50 drawing. No, no, no. Don't. Don't take like.
In middle school, there was this. There was a speaker system that had two jobs.
giant speakers and it was to put your your held like three CDs or seven CDs and you put them in there and they would kind of rotate around and they showed it off and they're like hey we're doing a raffle you have to go and sell certain things every time you sell something you get one little ticket and I went off and won that but that's because I would write on the ticket you guys know my handwriting I would write Taylor Luan full name because there was a kid in my class named Taylor Lewis that was all like two letters so that on the loudspeaker
which I remember they put on the loudspeaker,
so you know my story's valid.
They read it off, they said, Taylor Lou,
and so me and Taylor Lewis had to go to the office
to go figure out who won,
and it was clearly Taylor won on there.
So it drew you out of a hat?
No, because you had to, yeah,
because I had the most tickets.
Yeah, so you got drawn, the ticket,
your ticket got picked because you had the higher probability.
Because I put the most work in to get the most tickets, yes.
Taylor Lewis cries.
Oh no.
He cries, losing.
loses his mind about it. Apparently his parents went to bottom the same one.
Allegedly.
Oh, then more than kids, bro.
Yeah.
They're kids at them.
They're those kids, bro.
The surround sound, subwifers speaker air.
I don't know if it was surround.
Hold on that.
I don't know if it was surrounds out.
There was two giant speakers that were right.
Oh, no.
I just mean that era where like speakers were the thing.
Oh, yeah.
Dude.
First CD I ever bought for that was Kid Rock, Devil Without a Cause.
And I put that in my room.
Oh, fuck, dude.
We were going ham.
Was it like digital or?
Was it like CDs?
No, it's CDs, man.
This is like, I think like MP.
Oh, oh, no.
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
I was right there with you, Taylor.
Oh, no.
Dude, I had to.
You said CDs so much.
Oh, no.
Taylor Lewis might have just won.
No.
Taylor Lewis.
I'm sorry.
It was just there for the taking.
Don't be sorry, man.
Like that's,
I thought everybody was thinking it.
We were all saying CDs.
Like you just
Sorry we can move on
Dave
One quick thing
No
Off the topic of this
I've just received a text from
Ballin from this previous story
I had texted it back
And I said I think you gotta put the city
On your back and walk this out
Hadn't gotten a response back
And I just got one
Yeah it's happening
Just tweeted it out
So it is officially
On him
To make this right
Good for him
And he said he's gonna raise money
for ALS in the process.
Oh, wow.
Be the hero the city deserves.
I'm worried about my Eagle something.
We need to work some like video updates
and stuff as he does it.
I'll talk.
We can get him rolling on Boston.
Just get it.
Just get, we got to go.
We got to go.
We got to go in Tennessee.
We gotta go.
We gotta go.
We gotta support the local man.
Dan, Jerry kind of dumby.
You know when you're thinking about
about it right now.
He got, like, you know what you're thinking
about doing it in your heart?
Ray gets up yeah like for the last like three minutes of that story I've been like
how do I get because Taylor kept talking you like CDs nuts you my
CDs nuts in your mouth yeah no one yeah it didn't even cross my mind I
I saw everybody cheering and then a little clicked on my head like oh he just fucking
killed you yeah I didn't know I got got I was with you though were you yeah I didn't
see it coming because I said CDs like seven times like CDs that's like the oldest
school one that I feel like I got got by when I was younger god that was like
because that was like ready to go full on could be like no
MP3 players actually came out a couple years later.
Demon out of nowhere.
Jared Mestermaker.
Jared Mestermaker.
Playoff quarterback.
Anyway, how do we feel?
I'm done.
On the 30th anniversary of Pokemon 2, we had a little pokey party over the weekend.
Yeah.
The one birthday bash took place.
It was fun, dude.
It was a good time.
There was a phone.
Teal goes, hey, we went off at this party.
I'm like, what do you mean?
She was, we had a phone put.
They did, dude, there was so much.
They could have sold tickets to this thing.
There was so many things in this party.
Like, I talked to tail him that night.
I'm like, bro, we can't, we can't have a party like that for our nine and six-year-old.
So what you mean?
I was like, dude, that's too much.
Like, we're setting our children up for failure in the future of their lives.
To think that they have to do that every single time.
Because that was a banger part.
It was too much of a banger.
I'm getting photos of Skadi with Pikachu because she's got this little stuff
Pikachu at the house so she loves Pikachu but I'm getting multiple photo oh there's another
Pikachu go stand by it she just wanted to get on that water slide the water slide we had at the father's day
event that water slide was there no it was it was a bigger one oh that was a bigger one that that
was my one thing I was like hey I want a giant ass water slide for this party because I want I want to do
it and then the parents from winning willow soccer team started showing up and I'm like doing the
slide and I was by myself that was kind of tough
But then it was like a longer, it was,
because you know how you, when you did it,
it was such an abrupt stop at a dad combine or whatever it was.
Like this had like a longer,
hey,
you get to slow down a little bit before you get to the end.
It was,
it was more adult friendly.
Parents are showing up.
I'm like,
struggling to get out of it.
Oh, hey, guys,
like slipping ass everywhere, dude.
But yeah, it was,
apparently the person that was helping tail and put it on,
she's like always wanted to do like a big Pokemon party.
So she like went and did a bunch of extra stuff.
That's what I was told.
I don't know if that's actually that.
I'm going to believe that.
to be the truth.
Hey, the Italian soda station.
Whoa.
I didn't have one of them.
Was it solid?
Yeah, it was awesome.
Dude, that little machine where they had like,
well, can it for you is unreal.
Well, it's like, yeah.
You made a cap top?
You're canning soda at this?
They were canning and soda.
They had this machine that, like, you want lemonade,
you want strawberry, you peach, mango.
I'm like, you don't matter.
Just give me Italian stuff.
Put some strawberry in it.
It was awesome.
They had like a, like, the,
what is it?
was it the claw
the claw machine
yeah yeah yeah yeah
yeah we got a call machine
we got we got a go
my brain's like come on what is it
what is we got a go right now
they had a claw machine
there picking a Pokemon toys
they have the puppies there
yeah and those puppies were they like
those puppies ate at each other
I was kind of question
what kind of cage we had going on
it was like kind of turned
kind of turned one of those parties
where like all the dads kind of went into
like the man cave area
and we're like all like watching ball a little bit
And the puppies were kind of right outside the door.
Every three or four minutes, like two puppies just hated each other.
Oh, yeah.
So they just kept fighting over and over again.
Getting after it.
Bodies were getting after it.
Below little pokeballs in the pool.
Rue had a moment in the pool that was like, I was like,
get the fuck out of there.
Yeah, hey, what did happen?
Scared the shit out of me.
She's just like swimming by herself and I'm watching her,
but she's like making her way to like the middle of the pool.
I don't know what she's doing, but I just hear her breathing.
So I think she's like getting out of breath.
And I'm like, all right.
Klam kind of sees me.
I'm like putting my stuff down.
I'm keeping my eye on her.
And she like comes out.
I was like, hey, Ru, what are you doing?
She was like, oh, this yellow shark, this yellow shark.
And then she just dives under the water.
And I'm like, the fuck's going on.
I see her swimming down, but I'm like, all right, she's, this is deeper than the pool that we have.
I don't know if she knows how deep this is.
But she's going to deep dive for this yellow shark.
I'm thinking she's going to run.
The way I was hearing her breathing before she went underwater, I'm like, this could be a panic situation for her trying to swim back up.
But Clum kind of sees me because clump was about to jump in too.
He kind of sees a little bit of the panic happening.
I put like everything down and she comes up.
She's like, I got the yellow shark.
I got the yellow shark.
I'm like, you swim to the other side.
What are you doing, bro?
But she went dove down.
Yeah, she went dove down and got that damn yellow shark.
I'm like, bro.
Rue was trying to get me to do some nasty stuff to both of you.
She was trying to give me to throw a clump at the pool.
I heard her.
She goes, I'll go tell her.
Come here, I'll tell you secret.
What's up?
She goes, throw my dad in the pool.
Throw my dad in the pool.
I was like, all right, yeah.
Did you do it?
No, he came over, I picked up Scotty.
Oh, Scotty, what are you doing?
Yeah, you want some love you, that.
I had major bro moved by me though.
I went to, I went to ruin.
I was like, I can't get your dad.
He's way stronger than me.
Your dad's the strongest guy, no.
So I can't give his, she was, you gotta try.
She was, you gotta try and give him.
I was like, I'll, I'll help you.
So we went over there.
I was like, see, I can't, he's so strong,
can't pick him up.
You dad's so strong, Rue.
That's a good friend.
He was, he was giving me some aroundy points.
I was. Gotta get the boy's points.
I felt Taylor grabbing me, though, and then I immediately just picked up Scotty.
Well, got on high alert.
Yeah.
You noticed I like to get a little physical.
Yeah.
Let me get this insurance policy real quick.
Picked up Scotty.
I was like, wow, that's crazy.
Putting your daughter has a shield, is it nuts?
You got to play smart ball there.
You got to go, man.
Yeah, but we got to, we got to reevaluate the way we do parties at Lawan household.
We are brought to you by Duncan.
The bus runs on Duncan.
our go-to Duncan order every time is simple.
A refreshing ice black coffee.
That's the order every single time, every single morning for the boys.
It's become part of our daily routine.
And Duncan, run in the morning after a workout before we record the podcast or on the go during football season.
It doesn't matter.
Duncan is always there for early mornings or afternoon pick-me-ups.
And Duncan iced coffee just hits different.
The thing about Duncan that I love most is you can customize literally everything.
Whatever you're into, however you want it, Duncan has it for you.
Ice lattes, cold brews, refreshers, you name it, they got it.
There's something for everybody, and if you haven't locked in your Dunkin Order yet,
now's the time.
Hit up your local local Duncan or sign up for Duncan Rewards at Dunkin Donuts.com slash rewards.
The bus runs on Duncan.
It was a good party, though.
It was a fucking awesome party.
It was a phenomenal.
It was a phenomenal party.
But I saw a couple parents kind of came up and like, oh, yeah, I don't know.
If my kids will ever enjoy parties again.
I'm like, fuck, man.
I don't want to be that guy.
It was like a festival.
Yeah, all right.
I just got, yeah.
It's a national holiday.
Yeah.
We went off.
And in September, their birthdays are in July.
So that's like a whole other thing too.
But overall, I had a great time.
It was a great part.
I was just, there was a lot of new people coming to my house where I'm like, I don't want, you know,
I just didn't want to get weird.
I didn't want to get weird out there.
Anyway, all good.
All fucking good.
She got to re-evaluate there.
We do some things.
We got to go.
What's next?
We got to go.
How about this Alabama guy?
Yeah, tear talk from Jared Ladd.
Jared Ladd.
This is Tier 1 right here.
Can the boys explain to me what the guy in the long-sleeve blue shirt in the back is calling?
Hashtag tier talk.
I think Sherman broke it down perfectly.
Sherman, what did you, this guy is smoking a blizzy?
He's got blizzy Blunt at first.
Hit the blunt.
And then it looks like he's either doing.
an acoustic guitar maybe a thicker female he's kind of doing the outstretch arms some fine
shit if you will and then the the hand going up and down on the crotch um i've really only seen that
in movies like wolf of wall street uh i don't know what that moves exactly called right yeah there's
no way to tell but that's why it's a sign because then you can't differ it you don't have no idea
what the i'll tell you what bama's running when i see that right i like to see what this play actually was
I like to see that.
Because what's weird is,
I don't know if this guy in the blue shirt is even employed
because the guy in the yellow is doing something completely different.
It's just callers, dummies.
Dummy calls everywhere.
Yeah.
Guy in the blue is the dummy calls.
Who knows?
He was going dummy.
Hit the vitamins, find a baddie.
Close.
It's truly it.
Oh, man.
Gotta go.
What are the cheer talks we got out here?
Can't wait for World to read them.
Dick Richard, another tier one out there.
Oregon Duck fan.
Hashtag tier talk.
People are saying that both Nebraska and Michigan
are going to end the season with more wins than Oregon.
I don't know if people are actually saying that, though.
I'm not even going to humor this tier talk.
We just got to have a good game against U-Tep.
And I hope Dan Lany figures it out.
I hope his only other loss throughout the season is Michigan and Nebraska.
So unfortunately, Dan Lennie's going to miss the playoffs.
Yeah.
I know Oregon fans right now are massively
probably hitting the panic button.
Yeah.
I'm not going there yet.
No.
We need to see a clean game against Portland State
and then at USC.
At USC is when we find out
what kind of ball club you have in the Northwest.
Which could be a home game for Oregon
the way the crowds have been shown up to USC.
Yeah.
Right?
But the awards in Lincoln Raleigh,
they get better and better as a season goes on.
So we'll see.
Tough, tough tear talk to
from an Oregon fan already just like
I hate it for him right now
S. Argento
I got a clean take
Oh Kevin Zatchel foods clean take coming up
I came home from football practice to my new
busing gear got me a bucket hat
and my girl said she got my
a surprise
It was a sick shirt
Hashtag tear talk
What does this little guy get?
Let's see, let's see
Oh did he do an unboxing
He did an unboxing
Do you want me to switch the
audio over now?
So he came back from football practice?
He's a coach.
He's a coach.
Or 37, you?
We don't know.
Did you call him a little guy?
Well, I thought it was, you know, the way that was written.
I love seeing the video from the old little guy right here.
Dude, he's fired up.
He's juiced.
He got a bucky.
The bucket does go so hard.
The bucket's nice.
I love the way he puts it on, too.
And T-shirt.
He's ready to go.
Let's go.
That's just a wholesome comment, too.
Like, you know he's just out there working with these kids all day.
He's hot.
It's early season football.
Things are going wrong.
And he gets home and his wife or girlfriend, whoever was.
She surprised him with some merch of his favorite podcast.
And he's like, man, this is it.
Like his week was made.
Clean take on top of his clean take.
Clean take.
Look at the selfie.
He's fired up.
You know, he's flexing on the kids at school too.
Yeah.
He's coaching.
Yeah, he's walking around for sure.
New book.
Showing someone who's comment.
Need a dub this week.
You know, TV if you want it.
Yeah.
Hey, your coach was on buss in this past week.
Just FYI kids.
Hell yeah.
You want me to hit this one?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Q Gray 6 on YouTube.
We got a hashtag tier talk.
How long do we think it'll be before we're congratulating
a member of the busing crew for being in the Hall of Fame?
Hashtag tier talk.
I'm in the high school Hall of Fame.
Yeah.
I think that's as well.
No.
But they have a...
I thought you had like a...
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sorry, yes.
I am in the Catch the Shadows Hall of Fame.
There's been talks about...
Sightle Flex?
There's been talks about Chaparral.
They have contacted me.
Oh, Chaparral's where you wanted to stay title?
No, Catcher Shadows I want to stay title with.
And I was there for my first three years.
The school I went to my senior year.
Rumors are strolling about being inducted in their Hall of Fame right now.
That's where my brain went to know, but yes.
Do they have the Taylor-Lawand Jersey?
Doesn't it one of the schools happen?
Yeah.
Chaparral, they do like a, yeah, I guess the tale of wander.
So they like give out 77.
There's like a handful of numbers.
They give out to guys that played there.
Because like Chaparral is a school that they have a high football.
They have a strong football tradition there.
Good ball players coming out of Arizona at Chaparral.
So, but as far as Hall of Fame goes, oh, Clay maybe, like 30 years from now.
How many possible does this Clay have?
I'm not trying to even shit on Clay.
Nine?
Was it?
Is he not?
Or eight?
In my way, I might be off on that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Let's call Devante.
Called Devonte.
Clay's got the best shot.
You never know.
Six pro bowls in 11 years.
How many all pros does he have?
I think one first team, one second's in.
The second team was as a middle linebacker, if I'm correct?
Or no.
One first team.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, so I guess our best shot is Clay.
But you never know who else might sign.
True.
True.
Also, hey, hey.
This is my first year of eligibility.
Is it your first year?
I think.
Well, applause for all the college.
I think.
Congratulations.
First ballot hall of fame are loading?
Hey, what about a-
Congrats.
Before-
Chase Daniel.
I don't even know who's trying to tell me.
Chase Daniel.
Chase Daniel, he's for his team's Hall of Fame,
Missouri's Hall of Fame, right?
He's not in it.
He's not in it.
I'm saying he could be in it.
Yeah, he needs to be.
That might be the next one.
Yeah.
Because he's part of the bus with the boys' family.
That's a crazy.
That's crazy.
That could be an option right there.
Yeah, he should absolutely be in it.
Yeah.
Because that was his Bud Light question was getting in the ring of honor,
Hall of Fame there.
But he's not eligible because he wasn't a first team,
All-American and didn't win a Heisman because he was going up against Tim Tebow.
Crazy.
Yeah.
He's got to be up there.
He should be in.
They got to put him.
in.
But I think that's as close
as we're getting Hall of Fames.
Delaney Walker.
Dude, if Delaney,
we've talked about this,
if Delaney played for
a larger media market
team when he was bawling out,
I think he's a Hall of Famer.
So you got what,
three Pro Bowls?
Only three, yeah.
Like, if he was...
Tough role boy, Delaney.
Clay is the best option.
Clay is doing the right stuff right now.
Get more on TV.
Get the face around everywhere.
Be on stuff so you can start
making these pushes.
Delaney's got a show now.
Delaney's got a show.
They understand.
They understand.
We want to get in the Hall of Fame.
We got to start being a part of the media a little bit.
Get it done.
Clay did a nice job.
I know what I talked about.
He did great.
You want to hit this one?
Go ahead.
This is from Luke TC7.
Five days ago in the YouTube comments.
Hashtack Tier Talk.
Will we or could we ever see Taylor or will break down their own film from their
playing days and give us some insight on their best moments in the league?
I mean, yeah, I think it's just a time thing.
He's been the victim of my tape a couple times.
Yeah, I've been caught in it.
There is a retired tennis player that he does this with his old matches.
And his videos nuke.
And they're very funny because he'll put up matches that he lost.
And he'll, like, have funny commentary on the guys that were making plays.
Like, another lucky for him from this guy.
Like, you know, any other day of the week, I beat him.
Like, I feel like there is a lane for it for both good and bad plays.
Yeah, yeah.
I could see Graveyard championing that as well.
Like an off-season type thing for graveyard of like...
Offseason films.
Getting some taping all together.
Breaking down games.
We should do a breakdown of our Nebraska, Michigan game we played in 2012.
And 2011.
Yeah.
All the snaps we've played against each other.
It's probably like 10 total.
Quick first episode.
Quick first episode.
Just a little teaser.
Y'all can do like a DVD commentary of it.
Just do the audio and then people can go back, watch the game,
and then they get to listen to y'all's commentary.
Yeah.
That could be fun.
They could be a good time.
It's a good idea.
No bad idea.
No bad ideas in a brainstorm.
Break down my start against Drew Brees.
Jack hit me out last week on the stats of that game.
I was incredible.
I was like, oh, I bawled.
And then Jack rattled off the stats.
It was like eight tackles.
Whoa, two solo?
One solo?
Yeah, A tackles, two solos, one PPU.
He's like, what you said?
It's a beast of a game.
I was like, I mean, average.
He said nothing to brag about.
Nothing there, nothing.
Did you frame it to him like a...
That was actually a, that was Chef's idea,
but he knew if he asked you that,
his cover would have been blown.
So two Jacks involved.
What was the altercation
that took place between you and Chef today?
I walked into the shop this morning,
We're filming this on Monday, and it's just, the volume's at 10.
Yeah.
And I just heard something about elite versus not elite.
Chef was clearly backed into a corner.
Every time we'll talk to, I could see, hear a snicker from Clump, like multiple cameras out.
What was going on this morning?
It's got to be, right?
We were talking Oregon football.
And Chef had a couple comments where he talked about the roster being overrated because of West Coast kids.
He's like, they're a little overrated.
And then because I was like,
Chef,
this was their first loss
to a non-college football champion
that they've ever had.
Lannings been undefeated on the road.
And for you to say,
like, their roster's been overrated,
like, yeah, they've gotten blown out
in the college football playoff,
but they've still beaten.
Like, they've had good wins
outside of losing to Ohio State
a couple years ago
in Indiana last year.
And then he made the comment that...
Which, by the way,
national champion winner, national champion were...
Yeah.
And then he made the...
comment about I want to see him beat like a mid-tier team or upper-tier team.
And I'm like, dude, what the fuck are you talking about?
Like they beat USC last year.
They beat Texas Tech.
They beat Ohio State at home a couple years ago when it was Ohio State.
They beat Penn State in the Big Ten Championship.
Yeah, they beat Iowa.
And then that's where it started on arrival.
He was trying to talk about future.
Like, hey, they have a gauntlet of a schedule this year.
Like, we'll get to see him.
I'm like, no, no, I'm not arguing about their future.
Like, if they turn around or don't turn around.
I'm arguing about these past comments that you've made that they have beating
anybody. He's like, oh, Iowa's a stretch.
And I'm like, dude, what are you talking about Iowa's a stretch?
Now you're going to have me arguing for Iowa.
Like, I was a tough football team.
You're in and you're out. And they went into Iowa at Iowa
and beat them. U.S.C. last year was a good team. They beat them.
Yeah, I'm on your side with that.
And the Iowa thing in my brain, I'm just like, yeah, Iowa really does make you play
their game the entire time.
Yeah. But we were kind of going. He's saying, I'm spinning words.
So then I'm trying to bring Clump
because Clump heard the overrated comment.
Coleman heard the other ones.
Coleman wasn't in the room,
but I would have been like, hey, did you say this yes or no?
And he was trying to be like,
look, they got a tough schedule this year.
That's what I walked in is when you kept saying,
did you say this yes or no?
And he would sit there with a pause.
And then he starts to talk
and you would just repeat yourself.
I'd say yes or no.
It's a yes or no question.
Yeah, because he wouldn't start with yes or no.
Yeah.

I don't know.
Have you guys heard of faux journaling?
Yeah, it's reading.
It's called reading.
So we don't like to use that word anymore.
A panel of New Yorker cartoonists.
Have you guys done Terry Gross's Peloton class?
No.
I've been dying too.
I'm so sorry.
I'm seeing a reading of Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes by Audra McDonald's at the Wonderland Bookstore, 14.
That's crazy.
I went to the Wonderland Bookstore yesterday, and I heard Nora Jones do a reading of Zero Dark 30.
No way.
You have to come to the last bookstore, though.

Middle school is a different world than the one we grew up in.
I'm Dr. Joy, and this is therapy for black girls.
We spent real time on it in our surviving middle school run,
bringing in a child psychologist and a psychiatrist who's raising two black girls of his own
to talk about what's really going on with our kids right now.
So it's literally physiological and neurological and psychological and psychological chaos happening all this end up.
We got into group chats and gaming, friendships and bullying,
and how to tell the difference between healthy monitoring and the kind of surveillance that erodes trust.
There's belonging. You could think of belonging as,
I can be myself and I can still be accepted.
And then there's fitting in.
Spitting in says I have to change who I am in order to avoid rejection.
Then we turn the conversation toward the fathers,
sitting down with therapists Keer Gaines on Black fatherhood
and what it means to raise a daughter through this stage.
You don't have more shorts, so you can't do flips,
you have on the dress, so you have to cross your legs.
That's the range of this run,
from screen time to identity to the fathers doing the work at home.
You have to get off her device,
but the reality is there's a lot of life out of,
that we don't want you as your adults in their lives to miss out on.
This has been our surviving middle school run.
Brought to you by the people who spend their careers thinking about exactly this.
I'm Dr. Joy.

Self-care September is here, which means it's time to rethink what self-care actually means.
Yes, self-care can be a long walk.
It can be in everything's shower.
It can be putting your phone on Do Not Disturb.
but sometimes it's actually about sitting with the uncomfortable stuff,
and understanding your patterns, your boundaries,
finally figuring out while you keep doing things that you swore you would never do again.
I'm Gemma Spag, the host of the Psychology of Your 20s podcast,
and each week we unpack the psychology behind the experiences that shape your 20s,
from relationships and friendships to money, anxiety, confidence, attachment,
just becoming more comfortable with who you are.
Unlike the quarter-life crisis, which is depicted as the collapse,
The quarter life reinvention is the expansion and growth of something.
When we develop the ability to be happy by ourselves, nobody else can take that from you.
So this self-care September, don't just take care of yourself.
Get to know yourself as well.

Taylor, I don't know about you, but I had four screens, the multi-view going Sunday morning.
I was watching the explosive game of the Bills and Texans,
watching Joe Burrow do his thing with the Bengals,
watching the Jets do their thing against the Titans,
also watching Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars get after the Browns.
This early slate, this weekend, it's going to be Eagles at Titans,
it's going to be Bengals at Texas, it's going to be Vikings at Bears,
and it's going to be the Steelers of the Patriots.
To me, that's the morning slate.
What are you cooking up in the afternoon?
Morning Slate sounds fantastic.
I like the Jags at the Broncos, Raiders at Chargers,
Seahawks at the Cardinals, commanders at Cowboys.
Seahawks got to get a bounce back.
Cardinals looks really good against the Chargers.
Commanders and the Cowboys, both looking to get their first wins at the season.
I'm excited to watch that showdown.
And then the Broncos, Bo Nix.
What's going to do in year three of Sean Payton?
It's all exciting.
And, oh, dude, honestly, one of the most underrated games of the weekend.
Going to sound crazy to a lot of people, Raiders at Chargers.
Raiders at Chargers.
What's going to take place there?
McDaniels.
Let's see that PlayCon come to.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to another episode of Bus with Bush.
Very special episode of Bus with the Boys.
We currently sit in Canton, Ohio at the Hall of Fame, sitting with a 2023 inductee.
This individual right here could have gone to New York.
to get drafted, put the fun hat on.
Instead, went on a fishing trip with his father,
played a consecutive 10,363 snaps only to go down one time
and call it quits after that.
And he now wears the gold jacket.
Ladies and gentlemen, Joe Thomas.
Former Badger.
Thanks for being here, guys.
Former podcaster.
Former podcaster.
That's right.
He's the Hawk out there watching right now.
You know Hawk's sick about it.
You guys had a gold mine.
Holt probably hits them up.
We launched.
Do you see Buzzin that could have been?
I was one of their guests.
on the Tomahawk.
How about our first,
I think our first three guests were you,
Travis Kelsey and Pat McAfee.
What a start.
Yeah.
Yep.
What you just decided you don't want to do that?
Yeah.
So I got into my farming and the beef business
and was in the media world outside of just doing podcasting.
And then he's got his video game empire that he's working on and also doing ESPN.
So we just got super busy with like other areas.
And it was right when podcasts was still like kind of getting going.
And we just kind of decided,
Hey, we won't be able to do it in person.
And if we want to have a great podcast,
you really got to do it in person.
Yeah, the boys got to be together.
Chemistry is everything.
Yeah, absolutely.
You brought up something very quickly as I was entering Sweet Joe,
Wisconsin, went to Wisconsin.
Former Badger.
Big year for Wisconsin Badgers.
Big one.
How dialed are you into the school?
Are you following?
Are you in the Reddit threads?
So no, no, no, no.
I'm not like deep into, like,
I'm not watching like the recruiting and the NIL and like who's here and stuff.
But I'm a huge fan.
Obviously, I want the program to succeed.
I've got a lot of friends and the coaching staff, know some of the players.
So I want them to win as much as anybody.
But I don't get into the weeds, but you're right.
This is the maker break year for fickle, right?
He's got the money finally with NIL.
They brought in a bunch of dudes in the transfer portal.
They kind of flipped the roster with the money they had.
They were able to actually get the guys they targeted.
And now it's kind of like, hey, you got what you wanted.
Now you got to make it happen.
Brought in Sean Ikechrist?
Brought in Sean, Ikech.
Former Husker.
Kind of burned it down and Lincoln.
Yeah, I know that the feelings in Nebraska probably not as strong.
And they're not feeling jealous that we hired him, but we're hoping that, you know, round team a big.
When we saw Iker's go across the headline like he's going to Wisconsin, it's just,
we're just rallying our friends from Wisconsin.
Like, hey, buddy, this is not good from the experience that we had.
Well, hopefully the experience is different in Wisconsin.
Ikers came in, Beau was gone the next year.
So there could be, listen, I'm not going to try to put bad vibes in the air.
Good luck to you guys this year.
I do hope you, you know, you guys go down though.
Well, you know what I appreciate that.
You guys, but not really good luck to you guys.
You guys owned us when we played.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What do you, what was the decision process in not going to the NFL draft?
So many guys, they dream about it, they want to do it.
And you end up just on a fishing boat with your dad.
It was an easy decision for me.
Kind of a PR move.
Well, not a PR move.
It was an anti-PR move at that time.
But now it turns out like that's what people still talk about.
Had I gone, nobody'd be talking about it, right?
That's just what you do.
But at the time, I really wasn't interested in, like, leaving my family that day,
to be totally honest.
Because, as you know, you get drafted and then world changes, boom.
Overnight, they fly you to wherever you get drafted.
It's like mini camps and media.
And, like, you're basically into the NFL season right away.
I didn't have a suit.
So I didn't want to have to, like, buy a suit, go out to New York.
And I saw these guys, like, a couple years before Aaron Rogers.
And then my year, Brady Quinn, like, they're out there,
sweating with a bunch of people that they've never met, you know, hugging a bunch of
like Goodell.
and all these guys.
Like, I didn't grow up dreaming and watching the NFL draft.
So that wasn't a moment I dreamed of.
I dreamed of playing in the NFL.
And to me, the draft is just kind of a big show about,
hey, here's your test results.
This is where you get to go play next year.
And so it was never a big thing in my mind.
And I was much happier to just go fish with my dad,
do something I've done since I was a little kid on Saturdays,
on Lake Michigan, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
And then, you know what, they'll tell me where I'm drafted.
And I don't have to be part of all that circus.
and then I can go just put my head down and get to work.
It's like the most offensive line thing of all the time.
Like going fishing with your dad sounds incredible.
The day you're waking up for the draft, though,
are you checking the phone a little more than usual?
Are you getting a little more excited?
So the only person I was checking the phone was for my agent
because back then I had like the Motorola foot phone.
Cell service wasn't great.
And he was just worried that the team wouldn't be able to call me before they drafted me,
which is a big no-no.
Like they want to be able to talk to you to make sure,
hey, I know you probably had a big party last night.
Did you get arrested?
You know, did you hurt yourself stepping off the curb when you were drunk or something like that?
You know, has your status changed?
And they want to congratulate you, be the first one.
So he was checking in making sure we weren't fishing too far away from the cell tower.
Yeah, yeah.
When you're going into that rookie year or going into training camp for the first time,
like mentality-wise, where were you at?
Like, did you have nerves going into your first camp or first game?
Or were you somebody that had a mentality of kind of knowing that you were going to be dominant?
there was a big imposter syndrome that carried with me college NFL like forever I was always thinking
that people think I'm better than I really am so I better be freaking ready to go because they're going
to try to expose me at any moment so I was nervous I carried those nerves almost all the way through
my career even you play against some slap dick I'm like damn I watched like his sack cutups and I'm
like shit he's going to be able to beat me with this move I better be on my shit because as you know
we're judged not by the great plays not by the pancakes like we're judged by that
one play that you got beat.
And the guy cut your quarterback in half and they carried him off the field and the
stretcher and the guys in Japan are booing your name because you fucked up one play.
Maybe you had 68 amazing perfect plays, but you better be on like a bodyguard, right?
You are protecting the president behind you.
You got to be 100%.
And I think you have to play on that razor's edge mentally to be ready at any moment.
Yeah.
You had you played it.
You blocked for a lot of presidents.
There's no doubt.
One or more.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
A lot of guys.
When did the imposter's?
them start to fade because me watching you when I first get in the NFL and it's like who's who's
the guy that you got like Trent Williams and you or Andrew Whitworth those are the guys everyone's
looking at but it was clear like you want to watch a guy the most consistent guy in the NFL it's
always Joe Thomas and it never seemed you never seen panicked in a set it was amazing to me that
you would just do sets and they look the exact same every single time and guys would try all different
kinds of moves and the result would be the same thing like they would just be stopped right then
and there like how did you kind of get rid of those nerves and then when did they start to like
kind of fade away a little bit to you're like okay maybe i am whoever everyone thinks you are here yeah yeah
yeah yeah i am pretty so it's cool i get to coach my kids now i got 11 13 10 and 7 coaching them in
sports and i always tell them like it's okay to be nervous don't be afraid of nerves because nerves
focuses your central nervous system your mind you're able to focus on the detail and then you don't
skip over anything you know if you're going into something you're not feeling nervous a little
overconfident. You might not have that energy and that focus. So nerves are good, but you don't know
them to go too far where it scrambles your brain then and you're scattered and you're all over the
place. So for me, yoga honestly was really big. I got into it early in my NFL career. And it really
helped me understand like the mindset and the mental approach, the breathing techniques to kind of
bring your CNS down to be in that perfect. I'm a little bit nervous. I'm on an edge, but I'm not too
much where my brain is scattered. So just using a lot of those mindfulness techniques really help me
when you're going against a guy like Dwight Freeney, you know, it's all of a sudden fourth quarter,
third and ten, games on the line. It's easy to panic, but it's like, no, go back to my training,
breath work, eyes closed, focus on what I have to do and visualize what this dude is going to try
to do to me. So you're a split second quicker to react when he does it.
So you're out there nasal breathing. A little bit. A little bit. You're out there.
Ujaya, yeah. Like if you see me on the sideline, especially the last half of my career,
because then the coach wasn't trying to pester me on the sideline, I would usually just
just be sitting there with my eyes close because I was trying to take the visual stimulus out
in between plays get your body into that rest and digest try to recover in between and not worry
about like the stuff that doesn't matter like what the defense does or what the coach is saying right
that's just a distraction to me on game day on game day I'm just thinking about my job how do I do my
job what could happen to me when I walked to the line of scrimmage that's so funny I was the
exact opposite.
Yeah.
The other
personalities
to go to
the upside
down.
I'm like,
oh shit.
waving the towel
going bananas.
Exactly.
Exactly.
Was there somebody
like early in your
career that kind of
put you on
to the yoga,
the breath work,
understanding this,
CNS,
all those things
that were like,
hey,
these are the things
you can control
in the middle
of what people
call battle
on the game.
So really,
my third year,
Eric Manginia
was their head coach.
He brought in like
MMA trainers.
We brought in like Pilates
people.
And he brought in
a local yoga studio from Cleveland, InterBliss Yoga.
And that's where I got introduced to it.
And then I just started practicing in their studio.
And really, that was the entry point.
And then later on in my career, we brought in the Navy Seals for a couple years.
And then we brought in like a breathwork mindfulness expert that we'd have like every
Monday morning meetings with them.
And that's when we really like dove into that side of it, which was pretty awesome.
You were bringing up Dwight Frini a little bit ago.
Who was the pass rusher that you felt like had the most success against you?
Freeney the first time I played him.
I had a great strategy, but I got him back later.
Don't worry, no, we got him back.
I learned a lot from that one.
But as you guys know, the spin move was deadly.
And I went into that game.
I was very game playing specific versus everybody I played against.
So I was going to slightly tweak my set and like how I got off the line of scrimmage based on their moves.
So Frini, I said, I do not want to get beat inside on this dude.
I know he can run around me, but I'm fast enough to catch up if he commits.
But if he spins, I won't be quick enough to react.
So I wanted to be super square.
And I wanted to really like set heavy on my inside waiting for that spin so I could catch that spin.
But the problem is Dwight Freeney also watches film.
And he was waiting at the end of the game.
And I think it was like third or fourth quarter.
He tried to spin.
Try to spend.
Didn't work.
Didn't work.
And then he went like he was going to spin and he turned it into a bull rush.
And you know, he's like six foot two 80.
He runs a four six.
And so he got under my pads and like push me.
of the quarterback.
Quarterback was not a very mobile quarterback at the time, Derek Anderson.
And so he wasn't able to get out of the pocket, kind of forced to sack, used me to push me
into the quarterback, which is like the worst feeling ever.
That's the worst thing in the world.
You just can't do anything about it.
And you're like, oh, God, come on, get rid of the ball, right?
But then from that point on, I learned so then the next time I played in my set with a little
width.
So then I knew in my mind, if I can get a half a yard of width in my set, I can take away
the spin, I can take away the up the field with my feet.
And then if he tries the bowl, I got an extra step to hop and then I can shut it down.
Whereas if you're truly vertical, you don't have that extra space.
You're just waxing poetic right now.
Yeah.
Just the way he's breaking down everything is.
Getting a little chubby.
Absolutely.
Yeah, I am.
I really am, man.
Because it's like getting able to play guys consistently and like fine tune small moves that you do,
you think are just the biggest thing in the world.
But then to somebody who's just watching the game, it looks the exact same as it had been forever.
with all the quarterbacks that you've blocked for,
who was the one that you were like,
I'm most excited about this?
This is the one that's going to really turn the Cleveland Browns around.
You're assuming that happened.
Exactly.
Because there was also, I mean, I don't know if this is a true story or not,
but there was a rumor about like you getting traded.
And then you being like at the last second,
they like put it in late so you didn't have to go.
Those are two totally different stories.
But from a quarterback standpoint, you said over 20.
Like what was one guy you were like?
we've got a shot here.

when you're a young player as you guys know you believe in everybody that you got around you right especially
coming from college everybody you're playing with is way better than the dudes you had around you in
college so derrick anderson actually made the pro bowl my rookie year in cleveland so i thought hey we want
won 10 games as a rookie year or two we got derrick anderson he's the starter now the whole year i was
thinking we're going to roll it like yeah roll it up all right we're going to win the division no
problem we'll just see what happens in the playoffs but of course it's the NFL injuries in effectiveness
people start to figure out a little bit um but still after that like we signed jake d'alom after he left
the panthers you know he'd been to a super bowl so i thought there was a chance you know but he was kind of
on the backside of his career and then we had a bunch of first round draft choices you know brandon weden and
Johnny Mansell. And I'm not sure I really like believe that they were going to be the guys
when we drafted him. Right. They weren't that dude in college where everyone said,
oh yeah, he's going to be a stud in the NFL. But you know, you gave him a chance in your mind
until they proved you differently. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. There's probably a level of pessimism that
took place too later in your career. Like, Weedon was, he was like 26 as a as a rookie.
And then Johnny, obviously, there's all the off the field stuff. You're like, is this guy going to
be able to focus in? Was there ever a time in your career too? Because obviously he played it all with the
Browns were just in your mind it's like we're the Browns we're probably not going to have the best
season so year 10 we're doing another year there's not yeah yeah yeah here's a lot of young guys
feeling optimistic and Joe's just like listen guys I've been around the block I'd be interesting
hear your thoughts but the way I entered every season was like if I need to get the most out of
myself I got to convince myself this is a Super Bowl roster like that's the mentality I have to have
when I'm training when I'm practicing when I'm going through film study and so you trick yourself
every year but after a while like you're not that dumb anymore yeah you know going into year 10 we had
like traded away the first overall pick we were trading guys away saving capital for the future and the
writing was on the wall that we were in a pretty significant rebuild and I kind of knew at that time
even though I was still trying to trick myself you know in the back of your head you're not going to be
any good and then about midway through that 10th season we were playing the patriots Tom Brady comes
to town and I fucking hated Tom Brady as everybody did in the league I hated the
Patriots, just wanted to smash him so bad.
Had myself convinced this was the game plan, like we're going to, you know, line up,
two tight ends, we're going to run duo.
We're just going to smash them because we can't throw the ball.
All right.
We know that's not going to happen.
At least we can put it on our shoulders up front.
And they played like a six one.
So they played a totally different front than what we've seen, which sucks against
duo because you don't have double teams anymore.
And we had no second pitch, right?
You lost like 30 to zero.
And I remember sitting in the car after the game and I was just like crying.
and I had ice on both elbows, knees.
You know, I was in pain, and my wife was driving,
and I was just looking out the window,
and it was that moment where I realized
I've been kind of fooling myself for a while.
And we were not going to win no matter what I did.
And my wife, being a great wife, understanding,
like, hey, if he has a bad game,
he probably doesn't want to talk about it on the drive home, right?
She sees my emotions.
So she's thinking, I better leave this alone.
But it just went on a lot longer than usual.
And she finally said, are you okay?
Did you have like a bad game?
And then the tears really came because I said, I played a perfect game and we lost by 30.
And it really sunk in that moment that you don't control the situation anymore.
And like that feeling of a loss of control is really hard.
No matter what situation you're in in life, it just feels like everything I'm working for,
I have no control over the outcome.
And that's a bad feeling.
And so I ended up meeting with the team psychologist and just talking to somebody about it
because it had been like, you know, almost 10 years built up to that moment where you just came
the realization like I'm kind of fooling myself and we're we're not that team and we really don't
have a chance and I don't impact this game the way I'd hope yeah did you was there a moment there
where you're like maybe I should go somewhere else right like how long did you play so this I played
11 years so I was already kind of towards the end of my career and I at that point I was not practicing
because my knee was real messed up you're the Ferrari yeah I was on Ferrari just take me out on Sundays
and so the option of like going and playing somewhere else wasn't really in my mind at that point
It was just like, how do I finish my career strong here in Cleveland?
How do I, you know, come to terms with the situation, but still make the most of it.
Was there ever a moment you wanted to go somewhere else?
There never was.
Are you bringing up a trade thing?
Yeah.
So there never was like a moment where I did.
The 2015, right, is the remember I heard.
Yeah.
You were the Broncos.
Exactly.
So it was the year the Broncos won the Super Bowl.
Ryan Clayty was their Pro Bowl left tackle.
They had the team to win it, which they ended up winning.
But Peyton was getting older and was needing protection.
on the left side.
And so the Broncos in Elway reached out to the Browns.
And we're trying to get a deal done like a couple weeks before the trade deadline.
Because Clayty got hurt during the season.
How involved, I'm sorry to interrupt you, but how involved are you in those conversations?
Are you just like agents handling?
Yeah, agents handling.
Like for me, I was like, I got enough to worry about just trying to do my job.
And whatever happens happens was sort of like the mentality I took.
But I mean, I was ready for it if they were going to trade me to be able to, you know,
jump in and try to be the best version of myself in Denver.
And it got close and it actually got to the trade deadline where I went out to practice because the deadline's like Tuesday or Wednesday.
It's like somewhere in there.
And I remember going out to practice thinking like, well, they might pull me off the field today and tell me I've been traded or at least it's over.
Because it started being stressful because we're getting asked about it every single day.
But I was hands off.
My agent was really trying to push me like, hey, buddy.
These guys are probably going to win the Super Bowl.
It's pretty nice.
His office is in Denver, you know, sending me pictures of the mountains.
Yeah.
But I was like, you know, even though we're not very good right now, I still had dreams of being
part of building something great, which would have been super special.
I mean, the fan base in Cleveland is second to none.
They've got no Super Bowl appearances.
It would be so cool to be able to do it in the place that you get drafted.
So I still had that dream and that vision, but also the reality of I don't have a no trade clause,
so I don't really have control and what happens.
And so if it happens, great, if not, I'm just going to worry about my job.
And it just didn't happen.
Yeah, you never went to the, because the story I heard of was,
you end up going to the GM of the Browns,
like towards the ambulance,
like, please don't do this.
Like the trade decision was done.
And you're like, don't do it.
And so he sent in the trade acceptance letter
or whatever you have to do at 515 Easter
when the deadline was five,
so actually couldn't go through.
Is there any truth today?
You know, I don't know about the weeds of that.
You'd probably have to talk to the guys behind there.
But you didn't say anything to the GM.
So the only maybe truth that I know about that is the week before that happened,
I'm watching Sunday night football,
just laying in bed.
after game with the wife.
And I get a call from an unknown number,
but it was Denver.
And I was like,
I don't usually answer my phone like after a game,
but I'm like,
this is weird.
So I answered it.
And it's Peyton.
And he'd had my number from being out of Pro Bowls and stuff.
He's like,
hey, buddy,
this is your drinking buddy from the Pro Bowl.
You know,
you know,
his voice immunity.
I'm like,
oh, wow,
this Peyton.
I'm like,
yeah.
This is Peyton on him.
He's called it.
And,
and,
like Manning.
Peyton Manning.
You know?
Not Peyton Manning.
Peyton Manning.
And I was like, okay, yeah, what's up?
He's like, well, hey, listen, we lost her left tackle.
I really want you to block for me.
But the Browns, they're worried, like, you're kind of their franchise.
They love you over there.
We got a fair deal on the table, but Elway's telling me it's not going to get done unless
you go up in your GM's office and tell them you want to be traded.
And I was like, well, that's a pretty difficult thing to turn down.
I said, but you know what?
It's hard to imagine.
I am happy in Cleveland.
I love it here.
If the deal gets done on its own merit, great.
if not, like, I'm not willing to try to force a trade.
And he goes, all right, how about this?
He's like, go up into Ray Farmer's office.
He's like, when he's not there, of course, pull your pants down, take a squat, take a
shit on his desk.
That way, you don't have to say anything about it.
But he has to trade you at that point.
Of course, I got a good laugh out of that one.
I was like, I'll consider it.
Payton, I appreciate that.
He's like, all right, man, well, see him Denver next week.
That's what we left.
But never did drop a deuce in Berea on my GM's desk.
Yeah.
Missed opportunities.
You know, it's the shots you don't take.
You miss opportunities.
Things you look back on your career and you have a little bit of regrets.
A couple regrets taking a shit on GM's desk.
Yeah.
Is that one you think about and you're like, I kind of should have went to.
I kind of should have been.
I should have went up to the gym office.
I'm not sure that like you get arrested for that in that certain situation.
They got to prove it's a lifetime chance.
Right.
You know.
If I go right now, we're leaving in handcuffs.
Yeah, exactly.
Or the whole city of Cleveland's like, Joe did it right.
He knew.
Because you probably would probably mad about something.
Yeah.
What is your biggest regret of your NFL?
career. I mean, not ever playing in the playoffs. Yeah, that's, yeah. It does have to suck knowing
just how good you were. You're just known as one of the greatest players of your position to ever do
it and just never being on a quality enough team to be in the playoffs. Yeah, it sucks. I think in a weird way,
in a weird way and they maybe it's just always my brain. Yeah, man. There's always my brain like,
you know, changing the perspective, the outlook, right, to try to be the best version of myself. You know, it's
corny but I'm always thinking like well because we sucked I had even more pressure on me right played
with crappy quarterbacks bad teams always in two minute like I got a lot of reps in really really hard
situations throughout my entire career and the pressure was never off I could never you know relax
I could never be the guy on the sideline like Luan you know spinning the towel like yeah we're up by 30
let's go fans let's hear you don't think we're ever like 30 yeah not once the 97 the
AFC championship, brother.
You guys were, you guys were humble.
Averaging over 30 a game.
Joe?
He averaging over 30 a game.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
There definitely was a bit of a, like my personality.
I feel like a lot of offense alignment were like, you need to stop doing that shit.
Like that's, there's a couple of guys that kind of felt like, hey, quit with the bullshit.
No, I love that because not all of us are like that.
And not all of us can get away with it.
But you were like the shining star, the guy that like could hold personality for all of us.
Take that.
The rebel.
That's a big time.
Dude, one of my favorite moments of my entire career was in 2016, making my first Pro Bowl
and sitting on the bus, like, as we go to the first practice, I'm so nervous.
And I'm just kind of looking to make friends.
Like, I'm just like, this is incredible.
I get to sit here and the two tackles that are with me are Joe and Andrew Whitworth,
like two guys that are married, established, like Hall of Fame, Hall of Fame guys.
And I just remember I sit with you guys and you guys are joking around, had a couple beers
a night before.
I got a good night's sleep just in case we have to do two days or something like that.
I was nervous and I like sit there.
I'm like,
hey,
so we all,
all three of us play left tackle.
Like,
what is the game plan?
Is it like,
we kind of go left,
right out or like,
how do you guys want to do this?
And they both just kind of laugh at me.
Joe's like,
you're playing right tackle the entire game.
I was like,
are you sure?
Yeah.
Me and Andrew,
we're rotating.
Yeah.
I left.
You got right tackle on line.
That's a compliment.
We trust you out there, right?
Yeah.
We trust me out there.
Yeah.
But it was,
it was one of those moments.
It's like one of my favorite
moments of my entire group getting to sit with you guys on the bus and be like yeah this is awesome look at
these two studs yeah bus rides were the best yeah the bus the bus rides were all time man I had a question
but then I got nostalgic and forgot what it was I got one and knowing how far removed you are from it now
how often do you still think about your playing days um it's vivid memories all across the board like
I can remember specific plays I can remember meetings film study but I don't think about
about it a lot on a daily basis.
I applied to like the media stuff I'm doing.
And that's when I think about those things.
But it's been like eight years since I've played now.
So it's,
it's been a long time and there's a lot that's happened in life since.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You guys still think about your playing days?
We were just talking about it.
That's all we do.
That's all we do.
That's really all you do.
I did have a YouTube.
I was like,
go ahead and check this out versus Michigan State.
Yeah.
We did a lot of more college talk it feels like as of recent for us.
Because we definitely gone off.
the bus like 10 minutes ago and we're just talking about like 2012 2011 Michigan or something like that
but you definitely uh you refer to it way more like when you're just getting out of the league because
you still know a lot of the guys in the league and now being removed from it for i don't know how many
years now it's like the farther you get away from the more like it's almost weird envisioning like
i played the game oh totally you know what i mean like you get around some of the players
and whether it's at the college level obviously the NFL level and you just see the speed and guys hitting
and I'm just like, man, this, it hurts watching it.
I can't even believe I was up there doing that.
It feels like a past life.
Yeah, yeah.
It really does.
How much violence it took to like kind of be like this soft.
Yeah, I know.
Yeah.
I'd have to get in the gym a little bit, work out, run a little bit.
But then it's like the thought of putting a helmet on, getting all warmed up, going
out to practice, knowing you have one on one.
It's like, there's a zero percent chance.
I could go do that right now.
Yeah.
Just waking up on a morning in August and be like, thank God, we're not out there in camp right now.
Yeah.
I mean, you look amazing.
Lost a bunch of weight, too.
I think.
to me that's part of it right like i got to coach some of the the browns old lineman last year in
training camp went out to dinner you know good old old i'm dinner which is so fun you know
ate a ton of hall of fame wagie it was incredible but those dudes are so big and in my mind i'm
like i don't know how i ever block these guys at all like they could kill me with their pinky
right now no doubt and i'm sure you i mean you look fantastic do you look at old photos of yourself
or does your wife oh yeah and your wife's like that that's that's yeah she bought early on that
stock. The kids call it Fat Joe. They're like, oh, a fat Joe era. My daughters will look at me
be like, yeah, you kind of weird back then, huh? Like they don't know, like, they don't have
like, that you were fat. They're just like that. He kind of look weird right there. Yeah, yeah,
exactly. When you look at other offensive linemen, like through your career, did you ever like
internally have competition in your brains from like a comparison standpoint with other offensive
linemen? Early on. Yeah. When you're a youngster and, you know, I was looking up to Walter Jones and
Jonathan Ogden, Willie Rove, like guys like that that kind of came before you that were your heroes
when you were in high school and college.
Yeah.
And then, you know, make a few Pro Bowls and now you're up there towards the top.
And then you also realize, like, my game's way different than Taylor's than Andrews and Trent's.
And I think you gain a level of appreciation for what they do.
But it didn't feel like competitive necessarily as far as like, right, who's the better tackle?
Yeah.
We're both great, but we have very different styles.
Did you feel, but you said you felt that way early.
in your career. Was there like a guy or two? Like I know like Jake Long is a guy that's like,
I talked to him and he's like, I had for whatever reason a super competitive thing with you.
Oh yeah. About like everyone thinks he's the best, but I think I'm the best everything.
Did you ever have that? Yeah. I mean, I felt the same way with Jake because we were both Big Ten guys.
We were both the top tackles in the league for a couple years. And it was like, all right, who's
going to win the Outland? Who's going to win the Big Ten player of the year? And, you know,
you're always competitive about everything. Yeah. And so it's like,
like, oh, I'm better. He's better. You know? Yeah. So I definitely felt that with Jake. And then he had a
great career to start in Miami before the injuries piled up. And there was probably a little
rivalry. Like, we got along great. We were drinking buddies, you know, going to the pole bowl,
hammering beers and stuff. And so it was never a personal thing, but it was like definitely in
my mind. I'm like, I'm better than it. There's a piece of you that's like, yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. For sure. Is there a coaching staff you had in Cleveland that you wish you guys would have won
for more so that way they didn't get the boot? Uh, I mean, when we had Kyle Shanahan
Hannah as our offensive coordinator in 2014.
We actually started the season, and it was my second best year in the NFL,
seven and nine.
Not something to hoist a banner, but we were better, and we had a good offense.
And you could see how great Kyle was and that staff.
I forget that he was in Cleveland.
Yeah, yeah.
It was only one year because then he had some issues with personnel and his relationship with the GM
and the head coach.
Like he had a very specific vision.
And we know how genius Kyle is, but he's also like a perfectionist.
Like it has to be exactly like this.
And so they had some disagreements.
So he ended up leaving him going to Atlanta, which, which sucked because, I mean, he should have been the head coach.
He should still be in Cleveland.
Yeah.
For, do 10,600 was 10,363 snaps in a row consecutive.
Like there's not only like toughness that takes place, but also like you have to be lucky.
Like helmet doesn't come off.
She doesn't come off.
Like at what point?
were you like oh shit like I'm this is something I'm doing that's incredibly special was it when
the media kind of brought it to your attention yeah so it was about year eight maybe because um
our media guy came to me and at the end of the season they always give you like the snap
analysis like hey this is how many snaps you played and you know it may have been one of the years
where we had an old line that played almost every snap together which is very unique and um so
dan murphy our media guy came to me he's like hey you played every snap congratulations buddy I'm
I'm like, yeah, I know. Thanks. And he's like, and actually, I started looking back and I went all the way to your rookie year and you've never missed the snap ever. And I'm like, yeah, I realize that. He's like, you got like 8,000 or some snaps. He's like, that's pretty cool. He's like, I'll look it up and see if there's like a record or see where you're at. And I didn't want to think about it. Because the last thing you want is to have that like weighing over you. But then, of course, fast forward to year 10, we're getting closer to 10,000. Kind of a big milestone. Yeah. And then the media starts asking you about it. And I'm like, man, that's the last thing I want to talk.
about and you know on snap 9,998 your chin strap shatters and your shoe falls off and it's like
what do you do call time out like time out i got to do you definitely have to burn right you got a burn one at
that point right but then it did become a little bit of a burden like thinking about it because
you only get one chance at that right it's not like oh we'll start over again and go play another
10 years yeah um so i was very relieved when i got my 10 000 snap in baltimore and i could kind of like
put that behind me and then not have to worry about it anymore yeah was that what is the record do you
have the record yeah so they they they don't know the year they started counting snaps like maybe in the
90s but since they've been counting i've got the record and i don't even know what the second longest
streak is you know maybe 7000 or something like that yeah uh what injuries or illnesses did you have
to play through while you're getting this streak so we played thursday night football uh against the
steelers in pittsburgh if you remember the game it was a game when james harrison
lowers his helmet and hits Colt McCoy like right up under the chin.
Oh yeah.
Lights out.
Almost killed him.
And then after the game, he did media and he remembers like none of it.
He doesn't have any memory after that.
The guy played the rest of the game incredible.
But that game going into it, I remember traveled to Pittsburgh and I was just sick as a dog.
And I just hold up in the hotel.
IV bags in the arm that for all the covers over my head, room at like 90 degrees.
The doctor would come in check.
I made give me a new IV.
And it was like, all right, we got 36 hours to get ready for the game.
Because it was, you know, Wednesday when we got there,
game was Thursday night.
And I was just like, save every bit of energy you have to go out and play this game.
And I remember just standing in the huddle.
And I didn't have enough energy to turn and face the quarterback.
So I just would kind of like listen out of the corner of my ear.
The ball or the play would get called.
And I would just kind of like saunter the line of scrimage.
And every play was like, all right, you can do this.
You know, it was that self-talk, but you can do one more.
You can do one more play.
So that was brutal.
And then always a bunch of injuries, but 2012, I tore my LCL, had like a grade two on the outside of my left knee and was able to kind of like walk it off when it happened in the game.
Actually stretching like an idiot.
I had bad back spasms at the time.
So I was like trying to stretch up my performance and just went way too hard on my knee.
And so popped it.
And so the duck on the sideline, I'm like, I heard a pop and it doesn't feel very good.
And he's like, well, can you like take a set?
So I took a couple sets and like, I think I can go.
And he's like, well, the human's not strong enough to like tear your own LCL like you did.
So he's like, it probably is a little sprain.
But we'll get an MRI tomorrow and we'll look at it.
And you know, you can probably play if you think you can play.
So I was like, all right, week 17, you know, end of the season at the time.
So I can keep going.
So I played the game and then got the MRI and found out, oh, grade two LCL.
You're out four weeks.
And the pro bowl was coming up, you know, probably the one I got to meet young Taylor Luan.
And I was like, can't miss that.
And he's like, you can't play in the pro bowl.
dude you're out like you cannot hurt yourself and i was like all right here's the deal i'm not going to do
anything i'll rehab for the month i'll go out to hawaii because it's in hawaii at the time it's like i don't
really want to miss this my family's kind of counting on this family trip it's been a long season and i was
like if it hurts at all if it doesn't feel perfect i'll wear a knee brace like i'll shut it down
they'll call the backup in but i'll still be in hawai they're not going to kick me out um so went
out there and it was good enough to plan it it hurt you know i had all the uh electro stem contractions and
all the rehab stuff. And I played like a moderate amount. And it's the Pro Bowl, right? The Pro Bowl at that
point had been, uh, slowed down significantly. It was jog through plus. I had my guy Jared Allen
across from me, but a nice silent agreement like, hey, you don't hurt the quarterback. I'm not going
to hurt you. I'll let you go after like two and a half seconds. You know, it's jog through plus tempo,
right? Yeah. You're not going to embarrass me. I got a bad knee. Cool. So we had, we had a good
relationship where we weren't going to hurt each other. And so I was able to make it through.
And, uh, that is hilarious. That is wild. Taring your LCL.
Stretching.
And still, like, looking at the doc and coaches be like, I have to go.
It's physically impossible to do that.
Like, buddy, it's the Proble.
Like, this is a reward.
Like, you've already got the accolate.
Like, you've already been named Proble.
It's not like you're a first alternate.
And you're like, I got to get to the place to be called that now.
Like, you just need that vacation.
The kids are counting on it.
The kids are counting on it.
I don't care how your knee feels.
We're going to Hawaii.

Middle School is a different world than the one we grew up in.
I'm Dr. Joy, and this is Therapy for Black Girls.
We spend real time on it in our surviving middle school run,
bringing in a child psychologist and a psychiatrist
who's raising two black girls of his own
to talk about what's really going on with our kids right now.
So it's literally physiological and neurological and psychological and psychological chaos
happening all this scene down.
Then we turn the conversation toward the fathers,
sitting down with therapist Keer Gaines on Black fatherhood and what it means to raise a daughter through this stage.
You don't have more shorts.
You can't do flips.
You have on the dressy.
You can cross your legs.
That's the range of this run, from screen time to identity to the father's doing the work at home.
You have to get off her device.
But the reality is there's a lot of life out there that we don't want you as your adults in their lives to miss out on.
This has been our surviving middle school run.
Brought to you by the people who spend their careers thinking about exactly this.
I'm Dr. Joy.

Self-care September is here, which means it's time to rethink what self-care actually means.
Yes, self-care can be a long walk.
It can be in everything shower.
It can be putting your phone on, do not disturb.
But sometimes it's actually about sitting with the uncomfortable stuff.
And understanding your patterns, your boundaries,
finally figuring out while you keep doing things that you swore you would never do again.
I'm Gemma Spag, the host of the Psychology of Your 20s podcast.
And each week, we unpack the psychology behind the experiences that shape your 20s.
relationships and friendships to money, anxiety, confidence, attachment, just becoming more comfortable
with who you are. Unlike the quarter life crisis, which is depicted as the collapse, the
quarter life reinvention is the expansion and growth of something. When we develop the ability
to be happy by ourselves, nobody else can take that from you. So this self-care September,
don't just take care of yourself, get to know yourself as well. Listen to the psychology of your
20s on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
as a i mean the the the tricep that ended essentially the last snap you
played was against the titans did you feel anything before that game with your
tricep was there something going on before was it like a freak accident yeah no there was
something going on i mean i don't know how your elbows feel but bone spurs in the elbows
a lot of tendinitis and the triceps and especially on that outside arm it gets beat up a lot right
like that's usually the arm you're leading with you get to grab cloth they're they're yanking on
They're wrenching on it.
It's going all over the place.
Plus, you know, you're pretty strong.
So you're doing a lot of pressing.
And I built up a lot of tendonitis there and bone spurs.
And we looked at it on X-ray, like, quite a bit before that.
And the doc basically said, like, we can't really go in and do any surgery on that.
Because if we try to cut the bone spurs out, like, they just grow back bigger.
There's nothing you can really do with tendonitis.
I mean, we could do the surgery I ended up getting and sew it back to the bone.
And that, like, fixes it.
But he's like, your tendon's sick.
it's going to blow up at some point when it happens, who knows,
but like you might as well just keep going.
I was like, all right, well, hopefully we'll make it through the year.
When did you know, when did they had that conversation with you?
Is this going into your 11 season?
At some point, I mean, I did it in like week seven.
So this was either early in the season or training camp.
I don't remember exactly, but like I remember not that I practiced a lot,
but I would still do walkthroughs.
And during walkthrough, I was like, don't touch me because just doing that extension
with my elbow was very painful.
and I was like, Ferrari saving it for Sundays.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So it was interesting like when it popped.
So I knew right away.
I was blocking Arakpo.
We just had an inside zone going my way.
Ball comes in the B gap.
Arakpo's trying to fall off, make a tackle.
And I just tried for one more shove, you know.
So I just kind of did that.
And as soon as I did that, it just popped.
So it rolls up.
And I knew it right away because I knew the pain and I knew it was going on.
And as soon as that happens, you don't have any extension.
And it almost in my mind that was like a bit of a relief.
because I was like, oh, it finally happened.
You know, because you're just hanging with that every day wondering,
hey, is this the play that's going to pop my trisive tendon?
But then my good friend Taylor, I didn't even know it until later.
I was actually telling him on the plane about this.
Because obviously the great Joe Thomas is on the field.
Like, you're sitting there getting one with nature, taking your deep breath.
I'm on the sideline like, oh shit, look at him going.
He's fucking, he's right now.
And we had just met the year before the Provo.
So to me, we're best friends.
Like this is something that we now know each other.
and I see you go down and truly like it was a shot to the gut.
I was like, oh, my best friend.
Just got hurt like that.
How could that possibly happen?
And like I'm sitting there and I'm like, do I go out there and do something in the back
of my head?
It's like, you're an attention whore, but like this is not your moment.
And then finally I was like, you know what?
I'm going to get out there and just kind of give him a tap on the ass.
Hey, buddy, best friend here for you.
MySpace top five or whatever it is.
And as you're jogging off, I go and I kind of miss you a little bit and I never touch you.
I'm like, fuck it.
Halfway across the field
Like I gotta go back
Came back I think it was like Ben Jones or somebody
I was like, that go the way you want it?
I was like no I feel so stupid right now.
Oh man, nothing like you on.
My hands full of Miles Garrett and his rookie year.
Thank God I played him only that one time.
That guy's a monster.
Did you know he was going to be what he is now?
The only question for me was can he stay healthy?
You had some like bad feet things going on as a kid,
surgery and then in college had ankle feet stuff.
But going against him right away.
I mean, you saw it.
He had it all as a rookie speed, strength, power, the bend.
Like, he had everything mindset.
So I just, the question like any young player, hey, you got it all.
Can you stay healthy?
Did you ever actually practice against him since you know the point of your career
where you weren't really?
Not much.
But in training camp a few times and I knew right away.
We had a screen.
It was like the very first team drill with him.
And a screen, you're trying to let him go up field.
But like even still, he just ran right around me and got right in the quarter.
But the screen would not have been off.
He would have been a sack.
He was just so fast.
The get off was just so amazing.
And I was like, oh, that's it.
That's it for me.
You'll see you Sundays.
You guys,
don't need to practice against this animal.
You ever do some one-on-ones?
We did.
We did.
Yeah, I mean, it was awful.
The thing with him,
I was always, it was awful.
It was awful.
It was awful.
But my mindset with him was,
I got to keep the distance.
I can't let him get into my body
because he gets so low he bends.
So I was always, when he would try to bend and dip and rip,
I was trying to punch that near shoulder,
were like keep that distance, get him off his axis just a little bit, and make sure he doesn't
get that backside or that inside arm behind my back to be able to like pull himself through.
But didn't always work.
He was, I just remember like playing against him, feeling him and being like, thank God he
he fully doesn't understand like the NFL yet or like how at all kind of like how to basically
play in this new world.
He's still like a college football player because I don't walk away from that game being like,
thank God, like I had a good game.
Because if I play him five more times, it's not going to go my way.
No.
And luckily, luckily injuries piled up.
Like I never got to see him again.
Dude, dude.
This has been incredible.
It's been awesome, man.
I really appreciate you taking the time.
You're probably super busy right now.
It's always an honor to see you and get to hang out with you, man.
I appreciate it.
Thanks for having me on.
Guys, we'll have to get you out to the farm.
I know we're doing our Hall of Fame experience, our documentary, bringing boys out and put them to work.
Yeah, we were texting.
What do you do there?
Can you break down?
I know we've texted about it a handful of times.
What is the breakdown of what you're doing at the farm right now?
So we raise Wagyu beef.
We raise Angus.
We're actually serving our certified Angus beef at the Gold Jacket dinner tomorrow night.
Here in Canton, all the Hall of Fame gold jacket guys and their families.
And then we sell online, hallfam farms.com.
And then we're in restaurants nationwide distribution partner.
And we've got some retailers and we've got an unbelievable beef stick.
A new one coming out pretty soon.
First to market, pretty excited about it.
Can't really reveal exactly what it is.
You got one in your pocket?
We're doing all sorts of stuff.
I'll bring it to you guys later.
We got our freezer trailer there.
Got our mobile butcher set up outside at Fan Fest.
But when we bring guys out, like you guys are going to come out.
Like we had Jared Allen.
We had barstool guys after that.
Like you become me and like my farm hand for the day.
And so we get you dirty excavators, skid loaders, feeding cattle, tagging cattle, castration, the whole deal.
So you're everything we're doing.
So I'm coaching you guys.
And then you get measured at the.
the end of the day, it's like, all right, how'd you do? Would I hire you as my farm hand?
Oh, really? Yeah. Yeah. I kind of want, yeah. Yeah. It's good time.
Castration, though. I mean, how many can you castrate? It's only once a year, right?
Yeah. What time of year is that? So we just did it like two weeks ago. Yeah, yeah, it's fun.
Surgery, right? You got to do it all as a farmer. You're doing the pregnancy and everything, too.
I haven't done a preg check yet. We usually have the vet do that. But I want to learn how to do all that stuff.
Because I love that, you know, as a football player who's had a lot of surgeries, a lot of, you know, knee drains, injections. You're
always doctoring yourself. I want to be like that guy on the farm like, hey, don't call the vet.
You call me. I can do it. Give me the IV. I'll stick it in there, right?
Get to mycy hot. Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
Massage him up. Take the ankles. You know, do all the stuff. Yeah, giving the pigeon pose a little
bit. Yeah, we'll have to go out and do that. That'll be awesome.
Yeah, before we let you go, any, any, we got any future with the kiddos that you're,
you talked about coaching them earlier. Yeah. So I got some potential that we need to keep our eye on.
We should keep an eye on my son, Jack, on the football field. He's my quarterback. He's only 10,
but he's a big kid.
He's a great athlete.
My wife played hoops at Wisconsin.
So she's 6'1.
So we got some athletic genes there we're working with.
But he's got the mindset, right?
Like that's the thing that I appreciate the most is he's playing lacrosse in the summer right now.
And he's the guy like his coach says go out and get a thousand bouncebacks a day.
He's doing it, right?
Because he just wants to be great so bad.
He's about it.
And you say he's a big kid playing quarterback.
Is this like, hey, you're going to play quarterback?
You're going to get to your sophomore year.
And then it's like, hey, go and come down to the trenches with us?
Probably.
Probably.
That's all good.
probably but the way i think about it is like you know oline's kind of the last stop on the bus
before you're you're coaching or you're not on the bus anymore so like start him at quarterback right
see the game see the field understand it and then hey maybe he's josh allen right maybe he's six
six to 50 and that's his future but if that doesn't work out your next stop is tight end right
because you got soft hands you understand past concepts and you know we can always teach him blocking
right that stuff's easy we can teach him that later especially with that lineage he'll have no problem
at all so jack jack's the one to keep up on he's 11 years old
he'll be 11 this year.
Jack Thomas.
Jack Thomas.
Yeah.
B.LQ?
BLQ.
Joe, you know how people would do anything for an ice cold, bud light?
What would Joe Thomas do anything for?
I really want you to think about this is you already have the Hall of Fame Jack.
People have said something as small as just a good steak.
Other people have gone as far as big, I love to go back in time and see dinosaurs.
Go to space.
Yeah.
You're a farmer.
Maybe you got an ambition out there.
Yeah.
know. So Wagyu in America, right? We imported these cattle from Japan, like in the early 90s.
There was a couple of bowls that were imported before then, but there's only like 200 total,
let's say, full blood woggy from Japan that left. And then the Japanese people said,
no more. We can't allow these sacred animals to leave. Like, we have something special. Everybody
wants it. We're not leaving. So like all of the wagu and our farm, all the wagu and all the
countries outside of Japan are lineage directly back to like those animals. I would love to get my
hands on the bull, like the bull from like the 70s. I think his name's Roushaw. That was like the grand
champion. He was the first one that came over from Japan and like his semen would be worth quite a bit
of money and would be unbelievable to be able to start another part of the herd like with that stud.
Right. This is just the marbling, the tenderness. You had everything. Right.
Yeah, he had it all.
So if people would do anything for an ice cold,
but that's very nice.
People do anything for an ice cold,
but like Joe Thomas would do anything for this bull semen.
Yeah,
Japanese foundational original bull semen from Japan from like this.
What?
Let's play a game.
There you go.
Let's play that one before.
Let's play a game.
How much?
Let's play a semen game.
How much would you pay?
Can I sponsor the segment?
Yeah.
That semen would be worth like one straw would probably be worth like 20 grand.
And you can get straw.
That's easy.
Once straw is enough to make a couple embryos.
So you could, yeah, you would get like 20, 30, you could get a million straws in that lifetime.
But that's like the genetic side of the cattle business that's really valuable.
Like you have a stud bowl that's like kicking off amazing.
Seamen.
Amazing semen that's creating amazing calves.
Like that thing is a goldmine.
It's just like the horse racing industry, right?
You win the triple crown.
Like that horse never has another hard day the rest of his life.
Right.
Yeah.
And everyone's just planting money after that.
money.
How many straws would you buy?
Well,
$20,000.
Hold on.
You're telling me I can have
as many as I want.
Like, I want the bull.
I don't want the straw.
I want the ball.
Then I collect him.
What would the bull cost?
The bull right now?
Oh, you'd probably get
$5 or $10 million for him,
I would think.
And you do that in the heartbeat.
Yeah, because he's not around anymore.
Like, that allows you so many, like,
genetic breeding combination.
I mean, you're one of one at that point.
Everybody got to have it.
Yeah, you're the number one.
You got the got to have it.
You got like Michael Jordan,
LeBron James' children and you're the only ones in the world and you're allowed to, well,
glad you said children.
They're yours.
They're yours.
In this sense, it seems a little weird.
Maybe not the best comparison.
However, whatever happens in their athletic career.
You got a lot at all.
You're set.
You're set.
Exactly.
So do these, are there any more pure beds left?
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
We've got a ton on our farm.
There's a ton, but they're all descendants of like those animals that came around.
You've got to be careful, like, breeding combinations.
A lot more than the Angus world.
I don't know how close you were to the farming world and cattle world.
Not very close.
Not very close.
Not a very close.
A lot of Nebraska guy.
But like there's a lot of amazing Angus cattle.
And we raised some Angus as well.
And we got some amazing phenomenal sires, the bulls and we got incredible embryos.
And so we do some seed stock sales there.
And it's a little bit easier because you got a bigger pool to pick from both.
The woggy pool is like about 200.
Yeah.
We got to get in on this.
Yeah, I'm not very close to that.
How can bring into the business?
How can bust one with the boy?
sponsor a cow. Can we get a cut of Wagyu? Can we get a lineage? Absolutely. Well, we can get
you beef, no problem. We'll get you the Wagyu's best healthiest beef on kind of. I want to invest
in the beef. But we will bring you in and allow you to invest in the beef and then we can invest in the
cattle side too if you want to invest in the embryos, the semen, you know, the seed stock side of things.
We'll get you both. Yeah, yeah. I know you're being involved. There's nobody better in the world
than, uh, you guys for sponsoring and promoting a great semen. Amen. Amen. Amen. We find ourselves on that.
I helped get semen from this horse once,
and that's about the only experience I have in the...
How would it have the flashlight?
Yeah, yeah.
It was traumatizing.
For you or a horse?
They get, like, the horse, you know, they get the...
Maybe it was a bull.
Like, everything's kind of like running through my head right now.
But they get the thing, like, the female kind of, like,
trapped in the cage, and then they get the old bull come in to start the mounter,
and then they slip one on.
And so I kind of help...
Switch to room.
Yeah, I kind of held that in.
And buddy's, he's, like, placing the semen and doing all the things.
Really? Yeah.
Got in the car with my mom, and I was like, Mom,
Mom, you can't let me do this again.
I never want to do it again.
Isn't it nuts?
You how fast those bulls and the horses are?
It's like,
oh, quick.
It's one stroke.
See you later.
Wow.
He went back for more.
Were you able to collect multiple times,
like the same day?
Like, was he just a champion?
No, no.
This is a bond.
This is a bond terrible.
This is a bond terrible.
This is Kirkland Costco type of brain.
This guy ain't doing much.
You know?
This ain't waggoo.
Yeah.
What a good.
good podcast.
His answer for the bud-like question
was incredible.
You need to send us a deck
because I need a bus and cut.
Yeah, yeah, we'll get you the bus and cut.
Yeah, I want a bus and cut beef, dude that we can sell.
We'll dial it in.
I can't wait.
We'll bring you out there too.
Like, we can do some butchery on the farm too if you want.
If that's the thing, like, all right, we got a quarter.
Let's break this down, breaking the stakes, make some burgers.
I'm going to try anything twice kind of guy.
So like really whatever you have for me, like, I'll do it.
I'm going to do whatever you say.
That's the type of guy we need to have.
Yeah.
I'm trying to get points because you said you judge us.
Good judge.
We go see you can win.
Andrew Hawkins, we love you.
Joe Thomas, you are the man.
Thank you for coming on bussing with the boys, bro.
Appreciate you guys.
It was a lot of fun.
Joe Thomas, real quick boys.
