These are the kinds of plays that are getting made on the Fandu's Fando's Sportsbook and thanks to boosting with the boys profit boost tokens, all customers are able to boost their college football Saturday parlay. Now let's check this thing out.
Starting point is 00:03:27 This is this person used a boosting PBT. This is his winner right here and it's a bit of a mouthful so buckle up. This person wagered $15 on a 12-lay parlay. That's 104,665 odds. 104,665. This is stuff we dream up. This genius won $15,714, and don't forget the 80 cents at the end of that thing. Six of these picks were spread picks.
Starting point is 00:03:52 Memphis to cover over rice. Ohio State to cover versus Penn State. Texas to cover versus Vanderbilt. SMU to cover versus Miami. Boston College to cover versus Notre Dame. Indiana to cover at Maryland. The other six picks were total match point picks under Miami SMU over Indiana, Maryland, over Vanderbilt, Texas, over Penn State, Ohio State,
Starting point is 00:04:13 over Memphis Rice under Notre Dame Boston College. You guys know the drill. Hit the Fanduil Sportsbook app app. Tap that boost it with the boys, PBT, and cook up something real nice for this college football Saturday. Go to fanduil.com forward slash Boston. That's BUSS-S-I-N to download the app today.
Starting point is 00:04:34 Josh Pate. Yeah. Good morning. How are you doing? I'm doing well. I look at the one in four. It's going all right. You know, over the weekend.
Starting point is 00:04:43 it's not what he's asking. He's not asking about your record. I'm looking at you, but also through you. Do you know what's behind you? Do you know the only neon sign that's behind you that I care about? That's that neon sign. You told me last week. You told him last week.
Starting point is 00:04:59 You told America last week. When we leaned in right here, we clasped hands. You were a little later than me and him. But we still clasped hands and you said, kiss your families goodbye. We may not come back. Yeah. And I got to tell you, I took it seriously. And I have not seen Savannah since last week.
Starting point is 00:05:17 A man hasn't seen his wife because of the Huskers. Yeah, look, we didn't come back. Dylan Raola doesn't go down in the third quarter. We win it. We win that game. We win it. That's not even a question. It's not. It's not.
Starting point is 00:05:34 It's hard to play those hypotheticals. Not in my head. Yeah, it was tough, man. Face was paned. The boys were in there. We were all blacked out together, bringing the noise, bringing the juice. bringing the juice. Nebraska took the fight to USC,
Starting point is 00:05:49 held that offense, that passing offense to, I believe under 200 yards. Secondary showed up. Yep. Yeah, man. It was, it was tough.
Starting point is 00:06:00 I'll tell you what. It's a bad week to be a brewing. Because I don't know if you saw any of the pressers. I watch all of them. And I'm on the phone. I'm on the phone. Like, hey, how are the boys feeling? Because this, you know,
Starting point is 00:06:12 I'm telling the ball coaches, this is where you find out about your team right here. Playoff hope's kind of gone. Pretty much 99% gone, 99.9.9% gone. Still a chance. There's always a chance. You need a lot to happen.
Starting point is 00:06:25 You see, pretty much gone, 99% gone, 99.9% gone. And I'm all got to that. I was like, Will's going to figure out a way to get a basketball in the playoffs. You need a lot to happen. Because we're now in the world where a 10 and 2 team is not going to get in. Yeah. And it was like 99.9. But if these teams start losing, you truly never know is all I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:06:43 And as we've seen, because our people, picks are never wrong, these kids can be wrong. Yeah, yeah. If these kids can be wrong, a 9 and 3 Nebraska football team to make the playoffs. Yeah, but this is where it's like the mentality shifts a little bit. You don't make the playoffs, who's going to go out to UCLA? And it was a tone setter to where, hey, you lick your wound for 24 hours, but when you show up on Tuesday, you're either fucking in or you're out.
Starting point is 00:07:06 If you have any doubt in your mind, you don't have to walk through those doors. Tired team shows up, everybody's juice, the mentality you see it in everybody's press conference, the boys are ready to rally behind T.J. Lateef, who's going home, Compton, California, and playing in front of his family and friends. Get a week of prep as the starting QB. He can run around a little bit. He's dynamic with his legs. So there is an ass whoop in Brewing in UCLA right now. Which is important because last time we saw teams hopes and dreams crushed and then went to the Rose Bowl the next week it was Penn State. Yeah. So we remember what that looks like. And, yeah, in Penn State now, people, I feel like, are just throwing away Oregon season a little bit.
Starting point is 00:07:52 I know they're nine. They're still ranked. They're in the college football playoff right now. But I just feel like people are over. I feel like the college football playoff has positioned Iowa at 20, Oregon at nine. This game's kind of up in the air this weekend. But one slip up here by Oregon. Yep.
Starting point is 00:08:08 And they're pretty much out of it. I don't know that they're pretty much out of it. I think they are on the bubble as a two. loss team in a way that you didn't think they'd be on the bubble. Because I think the three of us have sat here. We were talking about Nebraska when we said a two lost big 10. But it turns out we could have been talking about Oregon. But we've all agreed, hey, a two lost big 10 team's going to be in. A two loss SEC team's going to be in. You just kind of say that. You just kind of blanketly believe that. All right. Well, now we enter a world where the AP's got Oregon at six, but the playoff
Starting point is 00:08:35 committee's got them all the way down at nine because they keep devaluing that Penn State win. We've already gone over that here and how that may be a little stupid. So it doesn't matter because we're not on the committee this year, maybe next year, but not this year. So if they go and they lose to Iowa, which is a game we're going to break down, really competitive game. If they lose close to Iowa, that's their second loss. They got to count on USC being a ranked win. They got to count on Washington being a ranked win. Oh, by the way, they got to go beat them. But they got to count on those being ranked wins, or else they're going to be sitting there at the end of the day, and their biggest win was supposed to be Penn State. That's supposed to be the one they can hang their hat on. The committee's
Starting point is 00:09:10 going to sit there. Nobody under the age of 93 on that committee, saying, first off, I was asleep at halftime of that game. Secondly, the paper here says Penn State's not even ranked. That's a five-loss team. That's not a quality win. I highly advise Dan Lending. This is free. I highly advised Dan Lending in Oregon
Starting point is 00:09:27 to go ahead and try and win all their games. Yeah. The rest is take care of itself. They're not leaving out of one loss of Oregon. I know that. What happens if Oregon wins this game, but Washington beats Oregon, Michigan beats Ohio State, So you now have three, 10 and two teams in the Big 10.
Starting point is 00:09:46 Ohio State's 11 and 1. Indiana is 12 and O going the Big Ten championship? Is this true or not? They're not valuing conference games anymore? Is that a conference title games? Conference title games. They value them, but they don't value them in a sense that you're going to get knocked out if you lose them, basically. Right, right.
Starting point is 00:10:02 That's what they say. I don't know that that's true. Like I've got a theory. You could have a situation that happens with BYU. Yeah. Or in the ACC. Yeah. Yeah. So last year, for example, SMU was in the top 12, going into conference title Saturday. They lose on conference title Saturday, but the committee didn't drop them out because the thinking was we're not going to punish you for playing in your conference title game.
Starting point is 00:10:25 And an extra game than everybody else. But then SMU went and got smoked in the playoff. Now, that should not matter, but I don't know that it won't matter in future iterations of the playoff selection process because it really is a TV product at the end of the day. Again, not advocating for that to be. be the criteria. I'm just saying those are people in the room and there's a lot of money on the line. Right. So we'll see if that carries weight this year. So if Michigan's 10 and 2, Washington's 10 and 2, Oregon's 10 and 2, who's the dog that gets left out? So you got Ohio State in, you get Indiana in. Right. Give me the other one's Oregon. Oregon, 10 and 2. Yeah. Who did they lose to? They would have to lose to Washington. Lost to Washington. Because Washington has two losses. They play Washington later in the year. Okay. So you got to head to head Washington over Oregon. Yep. And then Washington has to win out. Oregon loses to Washington. Michigan wins out.
Starting point is 00:11:16 I think Michigan would be in. They would have a win over Ohio State, right? Yeah. Yeah, you have to. So they'd have the best win in a country. They will have also had a loss at Oklahoma. Oklahoma is a highly ranked team right now. Who would their other loss have been to? USC. USC is also a ranked team. And that was on the road. I think Michigan would be your playoff team. So Washington would then be out or would Oregon be out? Because Washington beat Oregon. It may be Oregon. Which would be nuts. It may be Oregon. I'd have to look at all those fancy numbers.
Starting point is 00:11:44 Like you said, highly advised, just win the rest of them. Just win the rest. Right. We're playing hypothetical games here. You do whatever you want to. Yeah. I'm just saying... That's part of his show is just having a little fun. What ifs? If I were Dan Lanning, I would win the games.
Starting point is 00:11:55 If I were him. But if I were him, I also wouldn't wear cotton in the pouring rain. But he did against Wisconsin. Yeah, he did do that. And you want to see something as we kick off? Yeah. Okay. Now, we've got to keep the sources private here. Landing played Wisconsin two weeks ago.
Starting point is 00:12:09 It was pouring down rain and he wore cotton and I was worried about hypothermia. Like I was worried about health. So they're going to play Iowa this week. It's going to be in the 40s. It's going to be pouring down rain. I sat on my show last night. Someone in the Oregon equipment room has to wise up and get landing something to wear other than cotton. Do you want to read that out loud?
Starting point is 00:12:30 The gray. I tried to talk to D-L. or I tried to talk DL into a jacket and he responded with, my mama didn't raise no bitch. True story. Three laughing emojis. So Dan's probably going cotton again. Right.
Starting point is 00:12:47 On the road this Saturday. He knows it's going to pour. He knows it's going to be in the 40s. He may not come back. Talk about us not coming back. He may not come back. We're already not back. We're gone.
Starting point is 00:12:56 Does he join us being gone? We got in the foxhole at the worst possible time. Yep. Yeah. And we kind of knew it too. That's the nature of a foxhole. It's like fear of you said the tank. Brad Pitt says he's not leaving.
Starting point is 00:13:06 Everyone's like, fuck, I guess we got to stay too. Yep. You know? It's probably the way we would have wanted to go out. Yeah. Absolutely. There are no moral victories. Nope.
Starting point is 00:13:15 There are not. I was proud of the fight. Because Mississippi State get a moral victory versus Georgia this week. That is the question, because those two teams are playing. It's not in my hand. Got a straight-up victory last week. Somebody who's positioned perfectly for the college ball play in my opinion is Utah. You get to end with the, is it TCU, Kansas?
Starting point is 00:13:33 Who's their third? Is it this week? Baylor. I mean, they could be sitting out. At large. They're just down the hole in the waiting room, waiting for the chaos to, you know, Texas Tech, BYU, whatever, could be a rematch in the Big 12 championship. Man, it would be brutal.
Starting point is 00:13:50 Say if whoever loses this weekend, they end up getting back in the Big 12 championship. Yeah, there's going to be a whole lot of chaos. That's why we love this game. Utah's like the cleaning crew and John Wick. Like there's a bunch of chaos going on outside the door. And then once it's all over, they just walk in, clean stuff up and they're in the playoffs. No, hold on. Hold on. So think this through. All right. We got BYU, Texas Tech this weekend, right? Utah's just kind of sitting there. They're already a two-lost team, but they're sitting there. They were what, 12 or 11 or something like that last night? Where were they ranked?
Starting point is 00:14:16 I don't know. Somewhere in the, yeah, five team. You guys just say they were right outside looking in. We fast forward a month. Utah just wins out. They're 10 and two. Yeah. Brigham Young loses this weekend at Texas Tech. So they're both one-lost teams. They go the rest of the way. They rematch in the Big 12 title game. Texas Tech beats him again. Would the committee drop a two-loss Brigham Young, whose second loss came in the conference title game? Behind Utah, who Brigham Young beat, as Utah sits at home on conference championship Saturday. Now that is what we call a classic conundrum. You remember the thing we did last week about the ACC, how they could get three teams in? Maybe it was the Big 12 the whole time.
Starting point is 00:15:01 Maybe it was. It ripped off the ACC mask. The game was. By you, yeah? Yeah. Multiple turnover. Not that this matters, but like. You're saying the Holy War, three-point loss, BYU was at home.
Starting point is 00:15:12 I'd say they throw out BYU. It'd be Utah. And we call it college football playoff prime evil. Which will be the subject of my conversation when we get to the true classic game in the week. Because this is the third time BYU's made it on our show. I'm not having it. Yeah. Well, look, they've taken care of business, man.
Starting point is 00:15:33 What was their overall? under in the sportsbook at before in the season? What was it? Six and a half, seven and a half? Somewhere around there, yeah. They've been taking care of business. They've been soaking their way all the way to the end, man. Yep, all the way. How they held it for this long? That's the question. Yeah. All right. Number five, Georgia. They're at Mississippi State. Georgia's favorite, eight and a half points. Team doesn't start very fast in the first half. Total points in that game is 57 and a half. My question is, is Georgia's slept walked through their entire season so far. other than Alabama, obviously got them a little bit,
Starting point is 00:16:04 but they've started slow. They kind of just let teams hang around. They're down by four against Florida. They end up coming back, but they never seem like they're a team that's going to be, they never just a waiver. It's always like, yeah, they're going to get the points they are. We're going to turn on.
Starting point is 00:16:17 Gunner Stockton, we need you on the ground. Gunner Stockton, we need you through the air. And anything they ask Gunnors Stockton to do, eventually he just does it. And they end up winning that game. Mississippi State's give it up 174 yards on the ground per game right now. And I think with this Mississippi State team, It's like they've played a lot of these teams very well, Tennessee, Texas,
Starting point is 00:16:36 to where if you're Kirby Smart and you're in the perfect position to know you can drop one and maybe other teams do, I don't think Kirby Smart lets his team do that. I'm thinking Georgia, minus eight and a half. Georgia let me down against Florida. On the one. Yeah, on the one. Sniffing.
Starting point is 00:16:53 Sniffing a cover. You know Kirby watches the show. He laughed. He's like, oh, you're up for the cover seven and a half and you're on the one yard line. You can't just... I get... I understand the integrity of the game.
Starting point is 00:17:06 To me, my whole thought was like if you're outside of the five, the knee I'm totally cool with, but you're on the fucking one yard line. Just punch it in. Yeah. Yeah, just fall forward. Save America.
Starting point is 00:17:19 Well, you remember Saints versus the Falcons when Arthur Smith was the head coach of the Falcons, James Winston was the quarterback of Saints. They were on the one yard line. Game was pretty much over it. They punched it in.
Starting point is 00:17:29 Arthur Smith had a... a shit fit about that. Yeah, but this wasn't even a play. This is a guy going into the end zone and takes a knee. Basically throws double barrel middle fingers up at the hard camera after he does it. Yeah. I know that hurt. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:45 Even if you're going to stock, then just like, I know what's on the line here. Hey, fellas coach is calling a knee here. We're punching this. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll take a knee two yards into the end zone. Yeah, exactly. So we're going. What are you guys doing?
Starting point is 00:18:01 So we're pissed off about it. Yeah. Georgia's eight and a half, start slow. Mississippi State. You can fly it around a little bit. Just beat Arkansas last week. First conference win for Jeff Levy. My dog of the week, don't get any credit for it, whatever.
Starting point is 00:18:16 Georgia secondary, are they fraudulent? People are wondering. People are saying. Good play action game there at Mississippi State. One of the best in the league. True. I'm taking Mississippi State plus eight and a half. I'm taking Mississippi State plus eight and a half.
Starting point is 00:18:29 trust either defense. Part of me wants to flirt with this 57 and a half on the total. Can I show you something? Look at my notes right here. Over. As in, you love... As in... I thought I was going to read it and you're going to be like, I love the over. No, no, no. You just had... You basically had the game breakdown. Georgia minus seven and a half. Yeah, but it doesn't say over or doesn't say over. Because there's two choices when you talk about a total.
Starting point is 00:18:49 And that's the one I pick. It's right there. I'm taking Mississippi State. Fuck it. Why not? I'm taking Mississippi State. They could easily be, I mean, how many losses they had that you've been down on the wire? Overtime against Tennessee. Overtime against Texas. Had Florida already won, I'm pretty sure the teams were going to the locker room,
Starting point is 00:19:11 and then someone just said, never mind, we don't want it. So it's three games. Yeah. Yeah, I'm taking Mississippi State. Georgia's let me down in a couple spots. I know they're the Bulldogs. I want to give Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs of speech right now, but I can't do it. Yeah, after you won the Ole Miss game for him.
Starting point is 00:19:27 Yeah. won the game for them. God, you did. That was a great speech, too. Mississippi State. So, did I? Did he fall into your trap? No, I'm in there with him. Oh, we're in this Oh, I fell into the trap. Yeah, we're in this trap together. This works out so well. I was going to say, so well. That's time we get these, me just leaning over with the fistbound, it always ends in a loss. Let me hit the rewind button about three and a half minutes. You said Georgia keeps sleepwalking, right? The implication there is that George is this great team that keeps, messing around until it's time to kick it into gear. Like vintage Georgia. And I would agree with you,
Starting point is 00:20:03 if the 2021 Georgia team were on the field and they kept playing like this, I'd say, yeah, they just keep sleepwalk. And they keep playing with their food until it's really trying time to eat. And then they put it away. I just kind of think this is Georgia. I kind of think this is the team they are. They're above average, by Georgia standards. They're above average. They're not elite. They don't have game breakers up front defensively. Their wide receiver room's better. But I don't really think it's become the quote unquote strength of the team that they thought it may. Gunner Stockton has bailed them out several times. Now they're better running the ball than they were last year. Frazier's is dead. Yes. So they've improved the areas they need to improve. So they've won
Starting point is 00:20:39 some close games. But like we were talking about with Mississippi State, George is the inverse. And there's a lot of skill to be on the inverted side where they win the close game against Tennessee. They win the close game against Florida last week. They come from the dead, come from behind and being dead against Auburn. So they could have three more losses. But they don't. But the line's not two and a half. The line's eight and a half. So they just came off the Florida game. They know they got Texas coming in next week and sandwiched in between is this 11 a.m. kickoff in Starkville, Mississippi. I was at SMU last week. I saw Miami's sleepwalk. I see what it's like for a big favorite to have to play an 11 a.m. game. And it's not easy. Now, George is a lot more disciplined and mentally tough than Miami is. But I just think there's not that big a gap between the teams either. So there's not a ton of. that has to go wrong for Georgia. It's not like a true David and Goliath's type of scenario that Mississippi State has put together. I just think they can hang with them in eight and a half is too many points.
Starting point is 00:21:36 So I'm going to ride with you. And just pair it with like Mississippi State. I feel like that locker room, that team feels like they're just playing with house money. They've been in every game, bro. They've had a lot of life down there after just, I mean, they've been terrible historically. But yeah, I just, yeah, Georgia's going to let you. There's 134th at getting after the past year. I didn't even know there's 134 teams in college football.
Starting point is 00:22:00 I thought it was 132. There's not a few more than that. There's not a few more than that. All right. I did feel like we got to a spot where, hey, are you switching? No, no, no. I'm just sitting there because as you're talking, Josh, I just keep looking at that record.
Starting point is 00:22:16 Are you excited for this, well? Because Superior is worth playing for. Mikkel of Ultra. Yes, sir. Are we five and five right now? When it comes for playing for an Ultra? Five and six. I'm down one.
Starting point is 00:22:29 Okay, I'm down one. For a Mikalob Ultra, Will Compton. Superior bragging rights, superior light beer for the Ultra. Go, and we're at 500. This game's stupid. Let's get back to the episode. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news.
Starting point is 00:22:54 What's the news? Huge news. We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas. We invented a podcast. Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts.
Starting point is 00:23:06 We're starting a trend. But this one's extra special. So how did we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Oh, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes.
Starting point is 00:23:29 I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:23:48 Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. The story I've told myself about love or relationships can then shape my behavior. And that can lead me to sabotage the. possibility of connection. This Mental Health Awareness Month, tune into the podcast deeply well with Debbie Brown and explore the journey of healing, self-discovery, and returning to yourself. We explore higher consciousness, emotional well-being, and the practices that help you find clarity, peace, and self-mastery in a world that can feel overwhelming.
Starting point is 00:24:22 The world is becoming lonelier. We're not becoming more social and connected. We're becoming more individualized. but we actually meet people in connection. If you've been searching for a soft place to land while doing the work to become whole, this podcast is for you to hear more. Listen to deeply well with Debbie Brown
Starting point is 00:24:42 from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, I'm Jared Adano. You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, help on the internet. Help! Somebody, please! But there's so much more to me than that.
Starting point is 00:25:00 I'm an actor, I'm a comedian, and recently I've become quite the helper myself. And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions. Sike, I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff, rant, recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to man. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice, one ring is too scary.
Starting point is 00:25:32 Cream a chicken suit. Hey, cream a chicken suit. This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know. Listen to Help from Hypocrat as part of the Mike Coulthura Podcast Network available on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And I'm thinking to myself,
Starting point is 00:25:52 okay, we're about to talk about Texas A&M, Missouri. That's also a big line. Texas A&M is going to Missouri. Their big favorite, two-score favorite, I know where I'm leaning and based on this conversation maybe you guys are leaning the other way and so maybe this is finally
Starting point is 00:26:05 as you guys are speaking I'm like maybe this is finally separation Saturday where are you leaning with A&M I'm leading I'm going A&M Oh perfect It's Mizzu all day wrong I'm going A&M
Starting point is 00:26:15 Prublow is it Priblo? Pribula Pribula whatever Penn State transfers he gets an anky injury so he was in a quarterback battler in the year that starting quarterback he gets hurt
Starting point is 00:26:24 there's a five star I don't know anything about this five star kid Clump those but Matt Zollers. Knows about this five-star kid. Live-arm. He couldn't say one damn good thing about him.
Starting point is 00:26:35 I know Clump is the troll of the office when it comes to teams. But everyone talks about battered Aggie syndrome. And I go to Jiu-Jitsu every Tuesday night. And there's always a dad there. He and I sit and talk while our kids are doing it. And he's a big Aggie fan. And LSU game, he's like, this is the one when we get let down. This is the one.
Starting point is 00:26:53 And there's like a turning. You can see a shift starting with him like, maybe not this year. Maybe we're finally the team that's going to finish our season undefeated. And this is the week we finally get to go do it. Mike Elko, friend of the show. I think that defensive line is incredible. I think Missouri is more one-dimensional than ever. And I like Texas A&M.
Starting point is 00:27:18 I think it's finally time somebody starts going, hey, this team's undefeated for a reason. It's not just because of their schedule. They're actually that good. So I'll be taking Texas A&M. It could win this game. I'm just the line right now. seven and a half points. The total on this game, 48 and a half. We went through, all we sat here
Starting point is 00:27:35 and talked about with the college football playoff, playing all these hypotheticals, two lost this, two lost that, like what teams are in. We're talking about big 10 teams, SEC teams. A team that right now with two losses is the Missouri Tigers. Coming off of a biweek. Classic needed versus won it. Yes. Back against the wall at Columbia. Yeah. Off a biweek, an emotional, tough loss against Vandy. You look at the box score of that game. The team stats statistically, Missou, Mazu just didn't take advantage of their opportunity. Prabula goes down.
Starting point is 00:28:05 What do you not like about Zolars? I saw Matt Zollers play Easton High School in Pennsylvania and he threw five interceptions in that game. Exactly. Live arm, that's all that tells me. He just needed some coaching from the Missouri Tigers from coached drink. Easton had zero wins that year. That's, see.
Starting point is 00:28:21 He had zero wins that year. I wrote, Easton had zero wins that year. He did. Paper Popper. Paper. right now. They were horrible that year. Amad Hardy, that defensive line for Missou,
Starting point is 00:28:34 Damian Wilson, talk your shit, son. This is going to be, this, this is a game. Their back is against the wall. They are, they're not in any conversation of the college football playoff, but they're six and two, and they have them at Missouri. It's A&M, seven and a half point spread. It's going to be a close game.
Starting point is 00:28:50 It's going to be a dog fight. Amad Hardy? Hold on. Just hold on a second. Oh, Dan, Pate's going with you. Hold on a second. Pate's going. Can I just ask something? Not from me, like from Coach Drink through me to you. He's given me
Starting point is 00:29:05 permission to speak for him. Not in the playoff conversation. Not in the playoff conversation. A&M was ranked what last night? Third. If you beat Texas A&M at home, are you not right there in the top 12? They're talking about the bubble teams as Oklahoma and Texas. What about the Mizzou Tigers? No, no, no. I'm asking you that. You just eliminated. them. I'm asking you about Missouri. You just said, they're not really in the playoff conversation. Are you projecting a future loss? No, no, no, no, no, no. I'm saying if this game's a close off, I think this is going to be a fist fight of a game. I'm saying nobody's talking about them. They are a tough football team with a three-point loss
Starting point is 00:29:45 to Alabama. Yep. And a very tough loss, not taking advantage of their opportunity here at Vanderbilt when the stats tell you that they were the better football team that game. So I'm saying this is upset alert for Texas A&M. Nobody's talking about the Missouri tires. Drink, he gets in some of these head coaching conversations. But I feel like people see it. It's just they're kind of throwing out. Where's Lang Kiffin at on the board?
Starting point is 00:30:08 Where's Marcus Freeman? Where's Nick Saban? Not drink. He's just on the paper. I've seen drink on a lot of coaches. No, you've seen them, but I'm saying just universally, I feel like the way you sit there and look at it and think about the Missouri Tigers, you think of Eli Drink.
Starting point is 00:30:25 And it's just a name on the paper. You're not staring at that name on the paper. This is a team that just doesn't, people just don't even put them in these categories with head coaching job. They're on the paper for the college football playoff, but nobody's actually considering them for the college football playoff. You got to love if you're a Missouri fan watching the show. And one of the biggest talking points is drink needs to win this so he can get a better job. Drink needs to win this so his name rises up the hotboards. Hey, I think you're going to have a good week, though.
Starting point is 00:30:51 I think you're going to have a good week because I'm buying everything that you're selling about Missouri. and let me add something if I could. Like you, you made some great points already. He got us to the doorstep. Allow me to kick it down. Kick it in, brother. Back up quarterback. Off a bye.
Starting point is 00:31:09 Back up quarterback's. Off a bye, Taylor. It's a magic elixir. You don't want your starter. You don't want your starting quarterback playing. You want the backup playing. There's a reason he was on the bench. Hidden weapon.
Starting point is 00:31:22 Hidden weapon. Mike Elko's got no clue. Right. Not in general. Calls game day a couple weeks ago in Vanderbilt. You're like, we're not going to release him now. No. We want to do it at this 11 a.m. kickoff.
Starting point is 00:31:32 One of our seasons on the line versus Texas A&M. Quarterback goes down. When Will Compton says, we're out of the playoffs. This is when we want to do it right now. No one cares. No one cares about you. No one cares about you. No one's going to put you in the playoff.
Starting point is 00:31:42 And drinks just sitting there like this. Yeah. And he knows what he's got on the bench there. What's he got on the bench? He's got five interceptions. Love, you got to be on it. He got to be on it. He had five interceptions against us.
Starting point is 00:31:54 that you asked me? Yeah. Matt Zoller's Eastside High, five interceptions, whatever. Well, he's not playing Easton. Easton. Easton. He's not playing Easton Saturday.
Starting point is 00:32:03 Texas A&M's pretty good, too. Right. Pretty good team, too. Pretty good front seven. You know, in all seriousness, I love backup quarterbacks in their first start. Now, I don't ride them the whole year, but in their first start off the bench,
Starting point is 00:32:13 I love them because of the galvanization effect. We talked about it. Yeah, we talked about it many times on this show. But also, you mentioned, when we thought Arge wasn't playing. You mentioned, okay, so the box score says Missouri should have beaten Vanderbilt. Well, they didn't. That's why there's a loss on their resume. But in terms of predictive nature, looking forward, that plus they played Bama really close,
Starting point is 00:32:34 they've either won their games or they've lost close. Well, the spread here is, what are we doing, seven and a half? So that means they need to win or they need to lose by eight or more. So we've got a possible Missouri upset in the cards. We have also got a possible close Missouri loss in the cards, which is all they've suffered so far this year. I just think taking Missouri plus the points is the smart play here. And I think that you're right about people writing off Missouri. You're right about people overlook and drink. You're right about battered Aggie syndrome. Battered Aggie syndrome does not bite you when you're most concerned about it. It bites you the week after you sort of put it in the closet. We're not worried about battered Aggie syndrome.
Starting point is 00:33:18 You're saying this BJJ dad I was talking to last night. He's put it in the closet. Yeah. And it's ready to bite. He didn't lock the door. Similar to tickle turkey. Yeah. So I'll take Missouri.
Starting point is 00:33:27 Okay. Close game. Separation Saturday. Separation Saturday. All right, we have Oregon going out to Iowa. Iowa City. The weather on that game, Josh Pate? We're going to go 46 moderate rain and 15-mile-an-hour wins at kickoff.
Starting point is 00:33:43 Dan Lannings still wearing cotton. Oregon favored was six and a half points. Favorite at six and a half points. points the over under on this game, 40 and a half. I kind of like the over on this. What? I just saw that. It's dropped five points.
Starting point is 00:33:55 Don't do that to yourself. In Iowa like recently. Has it dropped five? 31 points a game? They've scored 38, 37, 25, and 41 in their four Big Ten wins. But don't let that fool you into thinking their offenses turned a corner. Because they have 1,061 total receiving yards. There is a kid who plays for San Jose State that has more receiving yards than that by himself.
Starting point is 00:34:17 They have not thrown for 200 yards in the single game. No wide receiver has gone over 75 yards in the game for them this year. Grinowski, quarterback. Do not be fooled at all. You want to all being balanced? 130 second passing offense in America, lowest in power four. It's abysmal. But they can play defense.
Starting point is 00:34:33 But that's Iowa. Yeah. That's Iowa. They can play defense. Grinowski balanced four touchdowns, four interceptions. That's, he is balanced. That is as balanced as it gets. Is it not?
Starting point is 00:34:43 He is balanced in that way. And the ducks, they like their high power flying off. offense. I know this is not the Chip Kelly offense we used to look at, but they like to rip the ball around a little bit. They have a good run game. I think it's like six points. Number one in explosive runs. Number one explosive runs in the country. Iowa has given up. Iowa's given up one explosive run all season. Something's got to give. It's an unstoppable force and movable object. Is that what we're walking into with bad weather? Going right into Iowa. This is what Iowa wants. They want bad weather, 15 mile an hour winds, which sounds like a lot. but really not that much. What's going to happen here, Will? I want to listen to you guys.
Starting point is 00:35:23 I'm going to listen to his breakdown. No, no. What? There ain't no fodder on Farrant's talking about Coach Lannie. I am. There's no fodder out there. Coach Farrant is his high character of a head coach as you get. If anything else, I might shoot him at Tech,
Starting point is 00:35:36 say, with awesome Danny Lennie. He's like, I wish him well. He's a great football coach. Yeah. He's been in the game long enough to know. You don't mess around. You don't mess around the egos when it comes to pre-game price conferences. I don't know where you're going.
Starting point is 00:35:47 I really don't know where I'm going in this game. Because my heart wants to sit there and say Oregon. Because Dan Lannin, because you watch the Indiana game. Ever since the Indiana game, everyone's kind of like, you know, similar with college football playoff committee's done. They've kind of like forgot about Oregon. Like they're no longer, they take away the Penn State win, even though, you know, they're the one that killed Penn State.
Starting point is 00:36:06 Everyone just is reaping the benefits of what Oregon did to Penn State. So I look at this Iowa team, and every year it's the same thing. Like they have no offense, but they kind of do in their four big 10 wins. And they play great defense. they run the ball really well. You can take Tom Brady, Aaron Rogers, Joe Burrow, you can put them in an Iowa uniform. They're going to have four touchdowns and four interceptions.
Starting point is 00:36:25 That's just what happens in Iowa City. Balance. So what happens when both teams are stuck in the run game? Who does better? Is it Iowa who's usually kind of just like puttsing through, taking time of possession, keeping the other offense off of the field, and slowly just losing by five like they did against Indiana?
Starting point is 00:36:44 Or is Oregon coming off a buy week, bad taste in their mouth, do they just come and blow the doors off of Iowa? I think that's like one of the two options. Which option you're going with? I don't know. That's why I literally started the whole conversation with. That's what we have to do a good job of listening is I don't know where I'm going to start. I don't know where I'm at.
Starting point is 00:37:01 I'm lost. The college football world is doubting you, Dan Laning. People are starting to say your Penn State win doesn't mean shit. They're saying you're just a West Coast team that loves to hug trees, sing kumbaya, everything else. you take your Oregon Ducks and you fly to Iowa City and you introduce the Hawkeyes to the Ducks reproductive system. Let me educate you on the duck reproductive system. The male duck holds the Hawkeye down, the rest of the boys surround him, and what do you do? You gang bang them.
Starting point is 00:37:32 This is Oregon minus six and a half. That's real. Oregon minus six and a half. That's a real. Because we're getting close. We're also getting close, boys, to play off football and that feeling that we're, Dan Lanning, he wakes up in a cold sweat at night. Remembering what the Buckeyes did because the boys weren't prepared when it mattered the most.
Starting point is 00:37:51 You're getting close to this and you can't afford to lose anymore. This has got to be peddled to the metal, fly out to Iowa City and beat some ass. This feeling is there. They're coming off a by week. They're getting to sit back and watch all of it. And you know Laining's going to have those boys motivated. Lannings going to have those boys ready to go. So I'm going.
Starting point is 00:38:08 You know I'm right. I almost wore my organ ducks hoodie into this thing. But people are like, hey, you guys got to kind of be unbiased. There's not a whisper in the back of your head there that goes, Iowa. There's a whisper. The Transit property theory, whatever the thing that you talk is about, Indiana, beats the breaks off of Oregon. They only beat Iowa by five when they were like, what, 15 and a half point favorites? Hey, this is a 14 point game against Wisconsin.
Starting point is 00:38:32 Iowa beat him 37 to nothing. Transit property. Hello? Transit property. That's a dual transit property. We're bringing the volume down. It's a two way. I had the bang coming out.
Starting point is 00:38:42 Now we want to whisper. whisper where you going josh well i'm going to love it but i'll be watching the game so where i grew up about 45 minutes away there's a dirt track called east alabama motor speedway oh this story time it's really fun it's out in the middle of nowhere dad used to go coon hunting there before i was born great place don't think you can say that but keep going great people after what he just said about the duck reproductive system you can see whatever you they're on hey uh i'll encourage you to do this when this show's done go look up go on youtube Duck reproductive system.
Starting point is 00:39:16 Oh, look, I don't doubt it happens in the wild. The woman duck has a bunch of canals. It's like a maze. And so these ducks got to put her down and figure it out. Wait a second. Sometimes I'm really good at faking like I knew something to keep the conversation moving. I don't know anything about this. So there's a, they have corkscrew penises. Peni.
Starting point is 00:39:30 Peni. Ducks have corkscrewed peni. And the way that they mate is they basically, they gang bang a female and they're trying to figure out, you know, they're all competing to try and get it inside. Right. So that's how they made. It's still going to one area. That might not be the way of.
Starting point is 00:39:44 So the next guy comes in, finds a different one. And there's like multiple different tunnels in order to get to the ducks. So it's no different than a corn maze. No different than a corn maze. Absolutely no different. And you're saying that's the way you win a football game Saturday. Yep. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:00 Yeah. One word takes everybody. Yeah. I'm just giving some pads. I got to get this stuff out. Now you know we're not going to be able to talk about when we're with Greenie on Thursday. Right, right, right. Maybe I'll find a way.
Starting point is 00:40:16 I don't know, man. You dropped Cocktober on him. He seemed to like it. Yeah, I don't understand why that was such a big deal to him. Yeah, he seemed to like it. And I saw you, you were kind of pussyfooting around Cocktober. Well, yeah, I didn't say. I just don't know the rules.
Starting point is 00:40:28 The rules are. You're saying you find out what the rules are. Paid did it right. He just did one of these. Yeah, I thought that went. I thought it was the best way it could possibly go. You went great. Hang on.
Starting point is 00:40:39 I want to jump on. I'm going to say what I want. I'm going to go. He was in the middle of the story. He was what. Oh, yeah. True. How are your story.
Starting point is 00:40:44 So anyway, speaking of the dirt track, East Alabama Motor Speedway in East Alabama, it's out in the middle of nowhere. You can hear the cars from miles away on Friday night when they're running out there. But the thing is, you got to show up with a dirt track car. And dirt track cars look way different than the cars they use in NASCAR. They look way different in street racing cars. And if you ever took a street racing car out to East Alabama Motor Speedway, that embarrass you. So the question is.
Starting point is 00:41:12 And the question for Daniel Lannning And the question for everyone there in Oregon is Are you a street racing car Or are you a dirt track car? Because we already see the conditions We know I'm not calling on you yet We see the conditions This is not a street race Saturday
Starting point is 00:41:30 This is a dirt track game Okay that was going to be my question What kind of track where you're on? This is 44 degrees This is Iowa City This is rain This is wind This isn't summer seven on seven
Starting point is 00:41:41 We're not wearing shorts. We're not wearing shells. So we're going to have to get dirty. And I wrote on this piece of paper here. Are you going to... Oregon has to make Iowa's game their game. You can run the ball too. You're number one in the country in explosive runs.
Starting point is 00:41:58 There's this misconception. Folks do it with Tennessee. They do it with Oregon. They think it's just pinball on grass. They think it's just high octane, throw the ball all over the place. That's not the team they've tried to build. They can throw the ball very effectively. but if it just comes time to do that,
Starting point is 00:42:13 what you've got to do to beat Iowa. Oregon should be able to do that. Now, I'm going to take Oregon to win, and I'm going to take them to cover, because I believe there is a different gear to this team that they have not hit yet. I think Dan Lannning probably the biggest lesson he learned from that Ohio State game last year
Starting point is 00:42:28 is that team that just smoked us in the playoff built everything about their process to peak at the right time, to peak late. Oregon went wire to wire last year. Like, they were good from the jump, but then they faded when it mattered most. So there's been a little vulnerability about them so far this year. I think part of that's because it's time to do this in November.
Starting point is 00:42:49 And they've built towards doing this in November. If I'm right about that, the first sign of that will be Saturday. It'll be ugly, it'll be hideous, and they'll go in there and they'll win 26 to 10, and they'll come out of it, and they will have won, they will have covered, and they will have set themselves up for a stretch run. Not worried about whether they're going to get in. If they lose two games, just don't lose another game. So I'll take Oregon to win and cover.
Starting point is 00:43:11 You had me thinking you're going the other direction. He does that. And that's why I wanted to kind of stop the story so I could say where I was going to go. I'll take Oregon. This is a dirt track game. I'll take Oregon. To dirt track game. I'll take Oregon, but I'm a little nervous about it.
Starting point is 00:43:26 Separation of Saturday. I know. And I was thinking that too, but then I don't want ego getting away big. I'm already opposite both times. I am 50-50 on this game. This seems like you're going with the emotional side. Yeah. That's really observant of you.
Starting point is 00:43:41 Yeah. Thanks. Yeah, I'm going Oregon. But your logical side's telling you Iowa. Yeah, because it seems like this is a game that this is a perfect game for Iowa to kind of like stick around and run the ball and do what Iowa does, which is just I've already said all the things. Make you like make you one dimensional weather's already done that. Their defense is really good and make it a rock fight or this fight. Model thinks that Oregon's being given too much respect here, by the way.
Starting point is 00:44:08 If you just look at the comparative, I mean, I know I joke about transitive property. They've got three common opponents already. They both played Penn State. Iowa lost by one, I think. Oregon went to overtime, so there's that. I know the backup quarterback thing, but there's that. They both played Wisconsin. It was a pouring rain game for Oregon, but they had him at home.
Starting point is 00:44:28 It was a two-possession game. Iowa went on the road and beat him 37s-Z-Up. And then you've got Indiana. Indiana owned Oregon in Autson, and Iowa played him to where they, than five in Kennett. So you've got three examples there where these teams against three common opponents have played pretty similarly. Yet Oregon's laying almost a touchdown in Iowa's building. That's a reputation line. That's a play to the public line. Because the truth of that, if you just took two generic like potato sack uniforms and you took those resumes and you put them in this building
Starting point is 00:45:02 probably like organ minus two, organ minus three. So a lot of respect being given. We're also brought to you by Form Energy. Form Energy delivers a best in class taste with natural flavors and zero sugar. Form Energy has natural caffeine derived from green tea. Form comes in a variety of flavors. Available flavors are
Starting point is 00:45:22 screaming freedom. Grapes smash, blue blitz, orange fury, perfect for those who put in the work. Form Energy. We do the work. Hey, it's us to Jonas Brothers and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news? Huge news. We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
Starting point is 00:45:38 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how did we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember.
Starting point is 00:45:53 I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers was... This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
Starting point is 00:46:13 And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Hey, I'm Jared Adano. You might know me as that loud guy who yells out,

Listen to Help from Hypocrite as part of the Mike Coutura Podcast Network available on the I-Hart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Starting point is 00:47:45 and explore the journey of healing, self-discovery, and returning to yourself. We explore higher consciousness, emotional well-being, and the practices that help you find clarity, peace, and self-mastery in a world that can feel overwhelming. The world is becoming lonelier. We're not becoming more social and connected. We're becoming more individualized, but we actually meet people in connection. If you've been searching for a soft place to land while doing the work to become whole, this podcast is for you to hear more.
Starting point is 00:48:19 Listen to deeply well with Debbie Brown from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Let's go down to Alabama. LSU at Alabama, the spread on this game is nine and a half points. Alabama being favored. under on this game, 48 and a half points. Gentlemen? Could I go first here?
Starting point is 00:48:44 Or sometimes we pop the paper, right? I think LSU's got to wad the paper up. Because here's what the paper says. The paper says your strengths match up with their strengths. You can't expose their weaknesses. Bama's got the run defense not so great, 73rd, but LSU can't run the ball. They've been in the 120s all year.
Starting point is 00:49:05 So how are you going to take advantage of it? Bama's past defense is 12. So LSU can throw the ball okay, but that's Alabama's strength. They kind of mirror each other, except that when Bama can't run the ball, they still throw it okay. So they still get their points. They still get their yards. They get their production. When LSU hasn't been able to run it, they have failed to do much of anything. But then we have the backup quarterback theory, but we also have the fired head coach theory. Added bonus for LSU, you're coming out of a buy, and you fired a head coach that apparently no one down there liked anyway. So there's that galvanization effect of you want to play for Frank Wilson because Frank Wilson, you know, actually has the audacity to love LSU and to bleed purple
Starting point is 00:49:46 and gold. And Brian Kelly just bled normal blood. How dare he? Gross, pathetic. No place in this country for that. So there's that. I also think much like Oregon, the theory of Alabama being a national championship contender has to rest on the premise that they haven't played their best ball yet. Because Alabama's been a really good team, I don't think the games they've played so far if you get Ohio State's best are going to beat Ohio State or maybe even Indiana's best. I don't think that that may not beat Indiana. But if we see Alabama start to scale, if we see them start to work towards peaking, okay, well then that's game on. They have to be better running the ball and they have to be better at completing explosive passes. Because for as good as Ty Simpson's been, and as good
Starting point is 00:50:30 is the skill they have at Whiteout is they've still been kind of poor on completing deep balls like balls over 20 yards in the air haven't been that great there so i'm looking for those two things saturday kalen debor is 15 and 2 off a buy he's as lethal as any coach in the country it's like andy reed circuit eagles off a buy it was like an auto pay auto bet auto play so i'm going to take alabama with an improving pass rush to expose or continue to expose ls u's vulnerability on the offensive line. Bama under DeBore, they've struggled in this two possession favorite spot, but those have been mainly road games. At home, they've taken care of business. So I will take them to win tough game, but I think they'll pull away in the end. I'll take them to win by double
Starting point is 00:51:14 digit, so I think they cover. I'm kind of going nutmire on this one. Yeah, I'm LSU on this. This is the interim head coach, the bleeding purple and gold, the whole thing. Like everybody in Louisiana, they already started being like having question marks about. Brian Kelly and then as it just went on and on they're like we hate this guy there is a weight lifted off the entire state yeah they all feel incredible and there's always the energy of the interim head coach his first game coming in I just see that playing a bit I think Alabama wins this game but I think it's closer than Alabama wants it to be I agree I agree I'm going uh I'm going LSU to cover just all all basically all the things that you said it's just galvanizing like
Starting point is 00:51:55 what Brian Kelly's out of it's kind of the weight that's lifted off of everybody the excitement and probably the fun that's being had now to play for Frank Wilson and you're going down to Alabama. Nobody's picking you in this game. You're doubted everywhere. You've already lost. And I just feel like that'll be a spark enough
Starting point is 00:52:11 to cover in this game. I do think Alabama wins, in my opinion. Alabama's a very good football team. Your national champion is very much alive and well. Ty Simpson, love them. Do you know on that stat 15 and 2 if it's against a spread or not? Or is this just after a by week?
Starting point is 00:52:25 Straight up. All right, that makes me feel a little bit better. But I'm going to ride LSU here just solely off the fact Brian Kelly gets fired. Frank Wilson is saying in the presser saying, I like us in this spot. So LSU, LSU plus nine and a half. Should we get to our True Classic Game of the Week?
Starting point is 00:52:41 We should. True Classic game of the week is brought to us by True Classic. The new Curve Pima shirts. They fit well. They fit your chest well. We're now getting into holiday season, so you want to cover your tummy a little bit more. They do just that.
Starting point is 00:52:54 You can find True Classic at Amazon and Costco, Sam's Club and Target Nationwide or online at trueclassic.com slash bussing. Look good, feel good, play good. This true classic game, every Saturday has got games, but only one fits just right. And the true classic game of the week is BYU at Texas Tech. Texas Tech favored 10 and a half of this game. The over under on this game is 52.5. The Fall Don't Lie tour will be there.
Starting point is 00:53:21 College game day will be there for the first time since Michael Crabtree against the Texas Long Warrens. Everybody has that memory. This is a massive game. Massive implications on the line. Biggest game of the week spreads a little wide. Spres a little wide. If I were to tell you, BYU is going into Lubbock, Texas,
Starting point is 00:53:37 and upsetting the Texas Tech Raiders, what would your reaction be? I would say they were able to scale their run game against the number one statistical run defense in the country in Texas Tech. Best run D, BYU's face so far is 55th. Sometimes if you just got a legit rushing attack, you can run it on anyone. But if you've got one that's just faced inferior competition, you get crowbarred when you face a top 10 run D, which Texas Tech has. So the first thing I would say is they were able to run the ball against them.
Starting point is 00:54:06 The second thing I would say is turnovers were an issue again. BYU is number three in the country in turnover margin. So you keep picking them to lose games, but then they win and they're plus two, plus three turnovers. There were plus two, I think, against Utah. They were plus four against Iowa State. So you keep waiting on that to invert itself. You keep waiting for that to come crashing back to Earth, but sometimes it just doesn't. And Texas Tech all hyped up.
Starting point is 00:54:30 Most attention that will have been on that program in well over a decade, like you said. So sometimes you embrace that and you play your best game. Sometimes you play a little tight. Sometimes you play a little careless. And you know good and well what the talk is in Provo. They know just like drink a couple of weeks ago, all the attentions on Vanderbilt, game days in town. Everybody's talking about them. We're just kind of there to play.
Starting point is 00:54:53 You know, we'll just kind of come into play. Well, at Brigham Young, no one is at BYU causing the money. No one just accidentally ends up playing at Brigham Young. You got to go there with purpose. A bunch of people are playing at Texas Tech, causing Texas Tech paid more. This is what you're saying all week in Provo. It's no different than any of a number of big underdog spots in the sport
Starting point is 00:55:16 where, I mean, I guarantee you, like with Michigan for the last several years. Everyone's touting Ohio State's wide receivers, touting skill and touting this. And you're like, we got the same engine here. We got the same formula, same blueprint. We're a bowling ball. They're the pins. That's the way it'll work.
Starting point is 00:55:32 And so that's got to be the message in Provo. Now, here's the follow-up to that, because I'm not picking Brigham Young. I'm picking Texas Tech to win, cover, and play their best game of the year doing so. I think it's a misnomer that those are just a bunch of mercenaries that just went to the highest bidder. Like, Texas Tech does not apologize for having purchased this roster. They're really out front about it. They embraced it. That was the only way they were going to compete.
Starting point is 00:55:56 But they got guys in the building. I was there in spring. They were talking about this in spring. Joey McGuire said, you'd really be shocked at how we acquired these guys, but how good our building is. Because you would think it was just a bunch of me over team type guys. And it really hasn't been that. And we got really blessed and fortunate in that way.
Starting point is 00:56:12 Well, this is the culture test. Because you're facing the best culture team in the Big 12th in Brigham Young. So they're going to come in there. And what I think is no one has made Brigham Young play from behind all year. No one's made that 88th ranked passing offense in the country have to keep them in a game. And I think Texas Tech can do that. And so there are a couple of paths for Bringing Young to win this game. But there are about five or six paths where Texas Tech wins it and they win it like they did against Utah where they get some margin in the end.
Starting point is 00:56:42 And you're like, whoa, I think that's going to be one of these games. And this is a very, very hostile place to play when it's cranked up and it'll be cranked up Saturday, even with the 11 a.m. kick. Looking forward to being there. Texas Tech's going to put on a show Saturday. Yeah, just speaking to like the emotion, this to me, it's like we saw it over the weekend, the blackout game in Lincoln, Nebraska. This emotion and energy is going to be the same in Texas Tech, like having game day there, the excitement around that place.
Starting point is 00:57:10 And again, I don't think BYU hasn't faced a football team that can push it down the field the way Texas Tech can. And you're right, I think they're going to play out in front of them. And then even when you speak to the rushing statistics in their front seven, the D-line's really good. remind everybody about this D-line to where, what was it, the starters that they had last year and now depth guys, they're reaping the benefits for how much they've loaded their defensive line through the portal through the offseason. Yeah, they went and got a bunch of guys that made their starters from last year who didn't leave just become backups.
Starting point is 00:57:42 They kind of recruited over them. And so you've got guys that are providing depth for you now that were your legitimate front line starters last year. And you don't really, Georgia doesn't have that kind of depth. Alabama doesn't have that kind of depth. Texas Tech, because they went and acquired a bunch of guys that are starting caliber, and they hit on them, and they've been pretty lucky health-wise so far. They just got really good rotational depth there. But you talked about their offense, and I didn't even mention this,
Starting point is 00:58:06 Texas Tech's got the number one explosive play offense in the country. Their top 25 run, their top 25 pass. They just put so much pressure on so many facets of you that maybe haven't been tested so far this year that if you got even a little crack in the dam somewhere, they can turn it into a flood really quick. Yeah. You got BYU, keep it a close? No, we're upsetting Texas Tech.
Starting point is 00:58:27 No, no, I got Texas Tech. BYU, you talk about the secondary. They do a great job of getting interception with a very opportunistic secondary, but our favorite, or at least my favorite quarterback in the entire Big 12, Rocco-Bacthitos for 300 yards against them. With how dynamic the Texas Tech offense can be,
Starting point is 00:58:42 I see them putting pressure all day. BYU is going to want to run it. They're going to find out very quickly they can't run it, and then they have to lean on that passing offense, which is you said 88th in the entire country. And when you get them in a position of playing from behind, which they haven't before, I see Texas Tech running away with this very similar to Utah game.
Starting point is 00:58:59 Here we are, Dowden, BYU once again. Yeah. This is, listen, three times on this show, two times in a row, I've said no to BYU and they've shoved it in my face. Wait, wait, their opponents screwed up by turning them all over. You're absolutely right. You're absolutely right. And I just, I could either, you know, if you can't beat them, join them,
Starting point is 00:59:18 or I could just keep on double and doubt. Just continue to doubt this. Basically, they've been just a Disney movie. Right, and it's been fun to watch. It's awesome. We got Super Stokers. We're making all the fun jokes. We make a Prime Evil.
Starting point is 00:59:30 Like, we've got them all out. Let's move on. Onward. Dogs all year long. Speaking of dogs, let's get to our dogs of the week. Wait, do we see this game again in the Bay Tour championship? Yes, we do.
Starting point is 00:59:39 We do. Anything changes you think? Just the venue. Yeah. I agree. Dogs of the Week. Same team, same ass whooping. Yep.
Starting point is 00:59:46 Utah gets in there. That's how I see. It's going to be bad. It's going to be bad. Yeah, BYU, oh and two, lost their second one of the Big 12 championship. They get knocked out. Utah's in. Dogs is a week.
Starting point is 01:00:02 It's no secret. We're one and a half point dogs at UCLA. T.J. Latif, I'm taking Nebraska. That's Nebraska Money Line all day long. You got to, I think the thing that throws off the world, the butterfly effect, is when you go, this is the Nebraska Money Line all day long. Because I don't know what the actual stats on it are, but I feel like even going back to bet the bus,
Starting point is 01:00:22 anytime you're like, this is Nebraska money line, it happens to just go the way. So let's just cover. Okay, Nebraska plus one and a half. Yep. And now it's like, now I think everything is right in the world. I know where I'm going. 2827, no problem.
Starting point is 01:00:35 I will be bent that. I'm going to go Auburn. Did you say? 2827? No problem. No problem. Auburn plus six and a half versus Vanderbilt. Auburn, I think Auburn's defense,
Starting point is 01:00:45 Texas showed how to get off to that offense. I don't think they have the same horses and everything like that, but watching the film, being able to see the film, not just on a YouTube, but being able to watch the entire film, seeing some of the misses they had, I can see Auburn keeping this game close. I think Vanderbilt still wins this game, but I got Auburn.
Starting point is 01:01:02 Oh, just going to. That's the laugh of a guy that watched Auburn, Kentucky last week. That's what that is. Not only that, but Taylor's like a position coach for Vanderbilt. Yeah. He's helping the bulls. he's helping the boys get better and he's watching the film thinking,
Starting point is 01:01:25 yeah, I'm going Auburn this week. Like he's coaching a couple of these boys up on Vandndt's own line. And they're breaking down two get better. Hey, those two play well. Yeah, he's sitting there, sit back like, it's Auburn. You guys ain't figuring this out.
Starting point is 01:01:42 What's up, if this is a close game, this ends up being a close game. Interim head coach vibes. I think Bandy still wins this game. And they still win this game. I think Taylor's intentions were pure, but I'm saying now, he just took the knife. He said, hey, I know a bunch of you have watched these games on TV. I didn't mean, I was watching that film.
Starting point is 01:02:05 I was like, oh, I can see where Texas definitely found out about you guys here. You guys haven't seen what I've seen. Yeah. Like Taylor's got access. People are going to trust what I'm kind of saying here, but not knowing he's just fucking putting a knife in both the boys. He's sitting there breaking the film. No, I love that. I thought they played very well both of those boys.
Starting point is 01:02:20 I thought they played very well, actually. So she's that tackle. I'm going to take Kansas plus four and a half against Arizona. Now, I'd love to say Kansas money line too, and I will be betting them on the money line. But if you're going to give me four and a half and Fanduel has agreed to give me four and a half with Kansas, I'm going to take Kansas. Just like I took Mississippi State plus four and a half last week. What did they do? They pulled an upset in northwest Arkansas.
Starting point is 01:02:44 Yeah, they did. You're always in the gutter with these games. We'll be watching the Thursday night streams, and he's sending me screenshots. Coastal Carolina, son. Coastal Carolina. I said, how about this game? He's like, you watching the Ravens? No, bro, Coastal.
Starting point is 01:02:57 Coastal about to get the win. That's so funny. Homanood Express was off to a hot start going into Saturday. Yeah. What was it, 2 and 0 going into Saturday? Started out 7 and 0. Finished 7 and 4, but started out 7 and 0. I have you a hell of a feeling when you're a 7-0, though.
Starting point is 01:03:11 Yeah, just cut it off. And then you get to the locker room games. Every week, every week I come in here. I've won money. Every week I look at Taylor, who can see the board behind me. I go, hey, what was my record? And he looks up and he goes, two and three. Two and three.
Starting point is 01:03:24 Every week. And you're just like, deal with the most consistent. Yes. You're like the Iowa quarterback. Two and three. 40% every week. Four weeks in a row. But the ramen noodle Express.
Starting point is 01:03:33 Chugging. Hottest thing out there. Hotest t-shirt on the market. What's the website you can go get the Romanoodle Express? PateStatematerial.com. Christmas sweaters dropped yesterday. Oh my God. They're good.
Starting point is 01:03:44 I can't wait. I got to say they're good. I might have to get one. I'm not even a Christmas sweater guy, but this year I will be. They're good. Christmas sweaters, I feel like. a place for it. There's a place in your closet for a Christmas. There is now. You gotta have it.
Starting point is 01:03:55 All right, we interrupt this episode to bring you the boosting with the boys profit boost token available every college football Saturday. That's a profit boost on any college football Saturday. Just open up the Fandle Sportsbook app this Saturday and look out for the boosting with the boys profit boost token. Back to this episode. Hey, it's us to Jonas Brothers and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news? Huge news. We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast. Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it.
Starting point is 01:04:24 We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers was...
Starting point is 01:04:47 This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about. talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, for people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
Starting point is 01:05:02 But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. The story I've told myself about love or relationships can then shape my behavior. And that can lead me to sabotage the possibility. of connection. Starting point is 01:06:03 from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, I'm Jared Adano. You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, help on the internet. Help! Somebody, please! But there's so much more to me than me.
Starting point is 01:06:21 I'm an actor. I'm a comedian, and recently I've become quite the helper myself. And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions. Sike, I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff rant and recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to man. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice.
Starting point is 01:06:50 one ring is too scary. Cream a chicken suit. Hey, cream a chicken suit. This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know. Listen to Help from Hypocrat as part of the Mike Coutura Podcast Network available on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 01:07:11 Got to have it. Weekly Parlay. Washington. Minus 11.5. Wisconsin. Washington. I'm going USC minus 14 and a half. at home versus Northwestern.
Starting point is 01:07:22 Can't beat him, join them. Clemson has no business laying points against anyone. Clemson has lost six consecutive home games at home, at home, against Power 4 competition. Florida State's going to make that seven in a row. I'll take Florida State plus two and a half. Six? Yeah, they've lost their last six home games against P4 teams. Damn.
Starting point is 01:07:42 That's tough. Yeah. I know there's been just a fire down in Clemson right now, but even hearing that, like, yeah, that's crazy. Where do we get- Debo? Sweeney hot seat? No. No, not hot seat, but just...
Starting point is 01:07:53 I don't know. It's a weird feeling. Do you have any weird feeling? You didn't see that thing in front of the AD? It's nuts. Well, that's what you say when you feel like you're untouchable. And he feels like he's untouchable.
Starting point is 01:08:03 I don't think he's... I don't think he thinks that. What was sad? What was sad? He's in the press conference after the game. He said, you want to fire me, fire me. And the AD's standing right there.
Starting point is 01:08:11 He said, there he is. If you want to fire me, maybe you'll fire me. Damn, that's what, that's what Polini did too. And what happened? He got fired. Yeah, dude. It might have been a year later, but yeah. But was Bo laughing when he said it?
Starting point is 01:08:25 No, it was just pure intensity. It was more like, fuck all you. Davo is laughing when he said it. I think Davo is in a world he hasn't been in before. He doesn't know the path he wants to go down. So like every week he's like kind of changing tune and trying to figure out like, okay, where do I want to kind of stand in this like adversity? Oh, he figured it out.
Starting point is 01:08:44 He figured it out. He figured it out. So they lost to Duke. he did the post-game press conference he marinates on it Sunday and Monday of this week he took the podium and he pulled out the most fail, safe get out of jail for you can out of your back pocket
Starting point is 01:08:59 and he said guys the officiating in college football sucks right now. It's terrible it's horrible. It's awful. You think I'm bad. Look at how bad the officiating is and everyone is like yeah!
Starting point is 01:09:15 I love what Devo said. Fuck the world. Who did we play last week? Don't care. He's a genius. He's a genius. He's going to be there forever. You think so?
Starting point is 01:09:23 Yeah, at least until the end of the season. Yeah. Do you have any feeling on any of these job openings right now? Yeah. Carried off the record? Do you want to go off the record? Do give us some fun. I love John Summerall.
Starting point is 01:09:43 Think you would fit at Auburn. The AD down there keeps talking about going the offensive route. If he did, Kenny Dillingham works there. Eli Drenkowitz works there. I think Lane maybe, you know, day by day switches his feeling. One day it's Ole Miss, one day it's LSU. I don't think Florida's out of that at all. I think Florida's going to wait to be told no by Lane before they move on.
Starting point is 01:10:04 At Penn State, you know, I'm a Matt Campbell guy for some inexplicable reason. His name hasn't gotten traction up there. Clark Lee's name may get traction up there. But I think they're casting a really wide net, really wide net. So that's going to be one of those searches where it could be one of the names that's out there, or it could be a name that comes like from the parking lot. And you never even mentioned them. And you're like, how did we not hear this name?
Starting point is 01:10:30 How do we not think about this? Tim Skipper. Exactly. Yeah. Coast to coast. Trone more. Like just randomly goes Penn State. Dr.
Starting point is 01:10:37 Second Diamond, this time this week. Do you think James Franklin is a head coach? Yes. Yes. I'm surprised he's not already a head coach, honestly. Really? I think the Virginia Tech job is just sitting there for him. I think there's been a lot of traction between him and Arkansas.
Starting point is 01:10:52 I'd love to see him at Arkansas. I think Alex Golish, if it's not James, could wind up at Arkansas. You're a winner either way if you're Arkansas, if you get either of those guys. Like, those are upgrades over what you had. I'd love to see either one of them there. Any vibe with LSU? Look, I'm going after Freeman. And I'm going to make him tell me no.
Starting point is 01:11:09 And I think Verge Asperi, who's now the permanent AD down there, he knows Marcus pretty well. I think he'll make Marcus tell him no. I don't know that. Like, they haven't told me that. That's just instinct. Like Freeman's a stud. I'd make him tell me no. He told him no, but that was for the defensive coordinator position.
Starting point is 01:11:25 This would be head coach. So make him tell you no. And then it's probably Lane, but honestly, the LSU job, if you've got alignment, and the governor hadn't said anything in a good five days now. So that's great. You've got a president in place. You've got your AD in place now down there. You're starting to get the tumblers.
Starting point is 01:11:41 You're starting to get the alignment. If you got the alignment and you've got the investment, that's one of, if not the very best jobs in the country. And an aligned LSU is a job that many, many names who you don't think are available would make themselves available for. So that's going to be the most exciting search. I'm curious to come from the NFL. I saw a couple names.
Starting point is 01:11:59 We've obviously talked about Joe Brady, but I saw another one, Kelvin Shepard. Yes. Decoordinated from the Lions. Played there. We got a lot of success there. Hey, let me also just put this on your radar. Put it on. I'm just going to, can we end on this?
Starting point is 01:12:12 Can we agree? Well, we do have a final bite from McDonald's. but yeah and also should we wait hey this could be this could be the take going into the weekend can you put the pin back in whatever you just pulled that's terrifying there you go real quick kenny dillingham bill that's the second time his name is britain brought it by you i've heard it multiple times over the internet like my understanding is that kenny would never leave asu oh you got the wrong understanding okay it's weird went to high school of them told me that's my face all right well i know you surf the boards so you're probably more well versed on this than i no but i think when it
Starting point is 01:12:42 comes to college football, there's no one that's more will-versed. Do you believe every man has his prize? Yes. Is Kenny Dillingham a man? Yes. All right. Okay. Hey, we do.
Starting point is 01:12:55 You can pull this pen here in a second. We have a final segment sponsored by the one and only McDonald's. Sponsor segment that delivers their sharpest takeaway heading into the weekend, whether it's a bold prediction, hot take, or storyline flying under the radar. Starting point is 01:13:59 My bad. Are we going to crawl back in the foxhole? What bowl game are we aiming for? New Year 6 bowl? I don't know. You heard it. Playoffs are still real. Playoffs are still real right now.
