Hey guys, it's us
The Jonas Brothers.
I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called,
Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Just listen.
We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy,
not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smygle and friends on the I-Heart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
podcast.
What's up, fam?
It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano.
It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast, Point Game, the playoffs.
We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season.
And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments.
If we didn't talk ever again, I was crying.
You just understood.
That's how personal it got.
Wow.
Then after that game seven, Marquis come until he's like, you know I love you, dog.
You know, it's all love.
This was just playoffs.
This was just basketball.
So listen to Point Game on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your
Podcasts.
The Boys.
Welcome to another episode of Bus with the Boys.
I am your host, Will Compton, co-host, Taylor-Lawain.
You already know the deal.
My man's in training camp, the off days, the games, the scheduling.
Sometimes things just don't line up.
My man, he obviously eats, sleeps, breath, football right now, so when he has an off day.
Unfortunately, his family's a priority over the bus.
But welcome to another episode.
Subscribe.
If you can take a minute right now, whether you're driving, you're at home.

the comment section we're gonna have a great time but help us hack this algorithm and run these
numbers up. But before we get into the episode, this episode is brought to you by our most
prestigious partner of all time, and that is the Chevy Silverado. We know that every team starts
the season undefeated for the first month. Everyone has a shot. We're like the freaking,
I don't even know. I don't even know where I was trying to go with that. But one team has already
won at all. That team is the Chevy, and it's star player is the Silverado. According to J.D. Power,
Chevy is the most awarded brand for new vehicle quality,
and Chevy Trucks has won more new vehicle quality awards than any other brand.
That's some serious hardware.
Did you know that, JP, Jack, Blas?
Do you guys know that?
You might have known that from the ad last week,
but that's news every week,
that Chevy is the number one car dealership in the world.
I think that's the world.
But champions don't stop.
They keep moving forward.
And that's what the Silverado is all about.
moving forward from the LT model to the most extreme Silverado ever, the ZR2 Chevy gave the
Silverada a new interior with larger infotainment screen and digital instrument cluster.
They gave it towing technology and up to 14 available camera views.
That's some high quality shit.
It's always truck season here over at Boston, but now it's also tailgate season.
And what better way to roll up to a tailgate than in a Chevy Silverado,
boasting a larger, more functional bed than any other competitor.
and in that bed should be the new cornhole tables that we are selling,
and also the table where you place cups,
10 cups on each side and you throw ping pong balls in them.
Head over to Chevy.com to learn more about the Chevy Silverado.
For J.D. Power 22 U.S. award information,

So you can check out all the hardware that's been going on over at Chevrolet.
The boys we prefer Freeland Chevy.
You guys hear it every week if you live in the Greater National
very head up the boys over at Freeland Chevy.
Now, weekend update.
It was a fun weekend.
Did you guys enjoy your weekend?
Can we get a little bit more energy?
I know.
I feel like the energy's a little like low right now.
Like I just told everybody to comment pro vibes or I'm here for the vibes.
Like we need to have some vibes.
Yeah, Monday caught us real quick.
Are you tired?
I don't know if it's tired or it's a tough feeling to describe.
Yo boys did go out on Saturday night.
Oh, yeah.
Because the group chat was lit up.
The group chat was lit up.
Jack, you already knew what vibe he was on.
Yeah.
You could feel the energy in the group chat.
You too, you're traveling.
You're like, oh, I'm over in this area of Nashville.
I'm ready to go travel to you guys.
I don't know if that happened.
It happened.
And then Taylor Irish exited after we said what's up to each other.
He was like, I may go get a drink.
Yeah.
I could kind of sense what was about to happen.
So the game got over with, for everybody listening,
the game got over with, the Titans won.
And, you know, the vibes were obviously elite at all times with the boys.
So Taylor was seeing, like, where everybody was at afterwards, just to go say what's up, apparently.
And then Jack was over at Acme, JP was over, was it, were you on Demumbrian?
Yeah.
JP was over in the Dummbrian area.
And Taylor pulls up.
I didn't know.
I'm sitting at home.
I forget what I'm watching.
And just thinking, like, oh, these boys are about to, like, have a long night.
Oh, no.
It didn't go that way.
No, it wasn't a long night.
Oh, it was?
Yeah.
Did it end up at, uh...
Because Taylor had some friends over at Acme.
We were getting some food after the game.
And, uh, Taylor's like, yeah, I'm going to pull up.
And I was like, yeah, he's not coming.
He just played.
But he showed up.
I didn't think he was going either.
I'm like, do you really want to go out?
Like, you really want to go downtown after a Titans game?
Like, Big, you know, Taylor.
I know.
That's why I was a little shocked he was there.
But, I mean, he came.
He was a good sport.
We got like a drink.
And then basically that was the end of the night.
And then, yeah, just kind of went out.
He did it out.
did it out.
You showed up, you made your way across, and then he dipped.
Yeah, but to his credit, he came down and he got me, I was able to skip the line.
I got the Taylor-Luan treatment, which huge shout-out to him for that.
Is that a shit?
That's a lot.
Is that your shout-out, no-free shout-out?
Like, getting to skip the line?
That's a decent.
We're going to have to cut this.
Just added to the list, you know, a little down the line.
But yeah, no.
So shout-out to Taylor for.
fucking it up.
Yeah, the boys, they got,
did they win the first preseason game?
No, we lost against the Ravens.
Oh, that's right,
because we were trying to hand them
the first preseason loss ever
because that matters.
Yeah, they won like 22 straight.
I love seeing everybody just argue
on the internet about it too.
Like, obviously they got a long streak going.
You're going to shut out the streak
and then everybody's, oh, oh, if preseason
fucking mattered, it's like, hey, I think the
I think Adam Schaefter's just trying to deliver, like, just some news for the boys, some positive vibes.
And everyone just gets all up in arms about it.
I thought we would dethrone them.
We didn't.
But the boys got a dub.
They look good.
Taylor, he got to splash a little bit.
He was out there for like six plays.
I had a nice little chuckle because, you know, starters like, when the majority of starters aren't playing in a preseason game, you obviously don't want to play in the preseason game either.
And when the coach tells you that you're going, like there's just a part of you that's like, fuck.
man like god do i really got to go out there for however many plays i got to do it you're like
hoping it's not a full quarter you know you don't know how long it is you don't want to ask because
you don't want to seem like a bitch and you kind of just let it ride and then right like right before
basically like when you're in the locker room you just essentially got to brainwash yourself
and just thinking fuck it dude let's go out here and try to let's go out here and try to claim a soul
claim a body before i go out and uh the boy played solid he had you know of course six
plays he's playing against i don't know he all i don't even think he was playing against like the
or whatever.
But the boys moving the line of scrimmage in the run game,
clean pocket in the past game.
He went out for a play because it looked like his little finger that he's messed with
was like out of place or dislocated or whatever.
But, you know, Taylor, dog.
Goes back in, preseason game.
Preseason game at that.
Like, dude, some guys, you get a little, you want something like that to happen.
You're like, all right, here's my fucking out.
Two plays in, finger out.
Let's get the fuck out of here.
But the boy's a dog.
He goes back in.
He tries to, like, as he's trying to go out that one play,
goes back in, then he's see, oh boy, block.
He's trying to, like, block with one arm.
Um, I feel supremely confident talking about this, too, because I haven't even really
seen Taylor.
Like, I've just, we've been in our group chat and stuff.
So it's like one of those things to where I'm sitting here as I'm talking about him playing
and his performance and everything like that.
I'm thinking like, oh, shit.
Or somebody going to listen to this and be like, hey, Will shouldn't talk about X, Y,
and Z.
But it's kind of like, fuck it, man.
Like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
We do.
We went on this bus, man.
The boy's not here.
it's all clean it's all good fun
but the boys got a W
everybody's excited about the
the Malik Willis stuff
yeah
you know
I haven't watched enough tape
like after the first quarter happened
I was like all right
what am I doing now
Jack Jack was there
like that was you were in game day for him
yeah I guess
right into our boy Buck Rising
it was fun
it's just good to be back in Nissan
weather was great
me and Garrett both were there
so just getting
couple beers watching some ball.
Obviously, I feel like you're saying, the first quarter kind of tails off a bit.
It was insane.
I lost my voice in like one yell out of nowhere in the first quarter.
And Garrett's like, what the fuck happened?
Like, I was talking like this.
You can tell you're still kind of coming back from me.
I know, but then I went and got a water, took a swig, and 10 minutes later, my voice
was completely back.
And I don't know, my voice just seems a little raspy.
I'm with JP.
I'm kind of in this weird, like, I don't know.
if I'm tired or if it's like
there's something in the air, I feel like today.
But we got to pick the vibes up.
Yeah, we're pushing through.
Yeah, we're pushing through.
People come to the pod because they like to experience
some high vibes and positivity.
Obviously, with that, they love to see the lows that we go through
to get back to the positive vibes.
Because people could be listening to right now,
like, I'm kind of dragging ass.
It's Tuesday.
It's fucking.
And then they hear you going through it
and they're going to hear this climb back up from you and JP.
And they're going to feel like, all right,
if they can do it, I can fucking do it.
The boys are inspiring.
They're motivating me.
right now. The reason I said I felt like you were in game day form is because your game day
form you can identify very early in the day. And I felt the same kind of vibes. I took Rue.
We had a little daddy-daughter day at L&L Market where we went and got a latte and I was like,
man, the boys play tonight. Like you can kind of feel it. You kind of feel it in the air. Like we're a
couple weeks out now. I go on social media. I see I woke up like it was time to tighten the fuck up.
That's obviously on the busing page. But then I see you post your like your like playoff video from a
couple years ago where you're like fucking doing your high kick you're a mil you're a mere abdula high kicks
and i feel like if you're pulling that out like you're operating at a level to where it's like okay
i could be doing a little much right now but i'm just so excited about ball being here
is that the tom brady kissed me yeah yeah yeah and then a lot of people think that i made that video
that day and then i had two people reach out and go did you get a haircut today and i was like dude
that video is from 2019 but that's fine that's fine that's good though yeah that's when you know it's like
resurfacing
and people are like taking notice.
Yeah, I had to put it back out there.
We've even seen the video.
Go check it out.
I won't plug my Instagram, but.
Do now question on that?
Do you make a weekly
video where you're fired up about
the game?
Yeah, I mean, we can.
We can look into it.
That one, that was like the perfect storm.
I remember I was in Boston.
It was right before the Titans
Patriots playoff came in 2019
where we beat Brady
and them
and I don't know
it was just like I got in my hotel room
I had like two hours for the game
and things just started happening
the phone came out
some high kicks started happening
yeah so maybe
maybe
stay vigilant
you might see some videos come out here
a couple weeks when the season gets going
but I'm going to hold off on any kind of content
until the actual regular season's here
first home game of the preseason was here
now I'm kind of over
it waiting for the regular season.
Now I'm kind of over it.
I feel you, though, it's like you want it to get here.
Like enough, there's enough teasing that's been going on.
We're all fired.
Everybody's fired up about it.
And for all the Packers fans tuning in to listen to the Matt LaFleur,
Rich Passaccia podcast, like, just bear with us.
I know you're probably sitting there like, what the fuck are these guys talking about?
Like, they're talking about, you know, doing these videos for Titan games.
Who's Jack?
Who's Jack in the back?
Oh, whoa, whoa.
Hey, no disrespect.
You know, we got new people come into here now.
But bear with us.
You can usually fast forward like 20 to 30 minutes and you'll be at the interview if you need to go see you by that bad.
But if you're trying to catch some vibes right now and hang with the boys, like this is our intro.
This is what we do.
We hit some house cleaning.
We hit our favorite segment.
Shout out.
No free shoutouts.
With the whole house cleaning deal, did you guys watch House of Dragon?
Oh, yeah.
What'd you think?
I mean, as any like Game of Thrones fan, it was hard not to love it.
I mean, it's back.
You hear that.
Yeah, I know.
I know you're a massive Game of Thrones fan,
but I think it was a consensus with the whole general public
that the way Game of Thrones ended was not the way most people had hoped
it would have.
I'm with you.
I was trying to give you some background music.
I know.
You were like voicing over that segment.
But I think they did a phenomenal job being bad.
back. It's going to be a fun
season to watch. I think it's
like really fun when they're
scheduled programming on because
we're so used to like streaming and
having every episode at the like
right there at the click of a button.
So when we have to watch, I mean, wait
one week at a time for an episode,
I think that makes it really special.
And it's like the anticipation, the building.
There's going to be an episode probably in the next
two or three weeks where they drop us
with like a cliffhanger and we're like, oh, fuck.
But I got away next week.
or a whole week to get there and watch what happens.
It pisses you off a little bit.
For sure.
But it also, it makes it that much better.
So, yeah, I thought they did a really good job.
I'm excited to follow those storylines.
It seems like there's some deception already in the midst, some brother-rower.
It's the House of Targaryen.
It's the House of Targaryen.
Like, you know it fucking goes down.
I hope eventually, like, you know, you hope that there's going to be enough seasons
to where you get eventually to the story of the Mad King and everything like that
to where De Narius is born or something,
then obviously floats into the Game of Thrones.
But I'm fired up, man.
I thought it was a great first episode.
Struggled a little bit with the way that you know,
the whole fucking, you know,
they killed the,
they killed the mom about to give birth.
Spoiler alert.
Well, you know, at the end of the day,
like, if you're fucking in this game for real,
then you need to be up to date
and watching it when it happens.
For a future notice, just,
future reference,
we might talk about
House of Dragon
House of the Dragon every week
so if you don't want spoilers maybe skip these parts
however if you're truly
about that fucking life which you should be
JP's not he's never seen Game of Thrones
and we can get to that in a second
because he's in peace of the boy
I truly do feel bad for people that haven't watched it
because it is an incredible show
I thought that part was tough man
making that a little tough decision right there
I thought it was pretty fucking hardcore
for a first episode
especially for you know a recently new father
yeah yeah
a little bit differently.
But yeah, I mean, that's all I feel like we forget, Game of Thrones,
that it was, it's brutal, it's bloody, they don't hold back, like it's savage.
So I think they didn't skip a beat just getting right back into it where you're going to
see some guys' heads fly off, you're going to see some blood, some death.
It's, yeah, it's not for the fan of heart, that's for sure.
Yeah.
And also, like, going off the whole weekly thing, I, there's a part of me that enjoys it because
it's like a love-hate relationship. You wish you could binge it. However, I agree with you.
Because to me, especially now in this day and age of social media and everything else,
it brings the community together, which is why I feel like you can argue Game of Thrones being
like this community being the best community to be in, like of all time,
because everybody throws in the Breaking Bads, the, um, what else? Breaking Bad.
What else did I say? What else have I claimed to be?
I like, oh, uh, breaking, um, Sopranos.
Yeah, Spanos.
Spongob. Yeah.
All the big ones.
Stranger things, but like just knowing, like, everybody's taking a moment.
The entire world essentially comes together to watch Game of Thrones once a week and lives on the internet about it.
I think that's, that's like an element that is arguable when talking about the best series of all time.
But I'm fired up about it.
Again, the Targary and Bloodline is deep.
It runs deep.
They're fucking each other type of deal to keep the bloodline going.
But, no, I think it's awesome.
to pivot away from the House of the Dragon.
Go check it out.
No free shout-outs, HBO, Paz.
We have new merch dropping Thursday, right?
Gerrits, that's correct, isn't it?
Thursday?
Yes, Thursday.
Probably what, 9 a.m.?
Right.
Thursday, 9 a.m.
You guys will probably be listening on audio
to the Thursday intro as well.
But new merch coming out, you guys can see it on this
in Taylor's seat right now.
If you're just listening, they're the five.
We're bringing back the electricity shirts.
We had enough people, popularity with them a couple years ago when we made them for the boys of Tennessee.
Now we got them.
Right now I'm holding the boys of Michigan.
We got this one, which is fucking badass.
Probably the most badass one, the Raiders one.
White Lightning.
We got Titans gear.
We got Titans and White Tees, Black Tees.
We got the Oilers colors.
We got Nebraska ones coming.
We got Green Bay ones we're making.
We're doing a lot of different stuff.
But that new merch and the new hats, the one that you see,
I'm wearing right now, the one that I'm holding in my hand that's red, and then Taylor has the
oily color, oiler colors ones. We are also in the production of making other colors for other
teams. So if you want your team, make sure to be loud, be proud on social media, so it catches
our attention. But that new merch drops on Thursday at 9 a.m. in the morning central time.
They're going to probably sell out. I'm going to be honest. The whole boys merch last year did
incredible numbies, so shop early, shop fast, shop often. Garrett, did I miss anything?
You didn't hold up the Tennessee Titans one very well, so a little disrespect for the local fans.
I think you took that a little personal.
Absolutely, I did.
Here's the Tennessee one.
Here's the tightens one.
It's fire, boys.
I think the electricity, I love that we're bringing it back, and we're making them for everybody else.
Shall we get to it?
Our favorite segment of the week, shout out, no free shoutouts.
Do we all have them?
Are we ready to go?
We interrupt this episode to bring you Duke Cannon.
No free shoutouts to Duke Cannon.
Duke Cannon Deodert is made for.
guys who run hot, but I will.
I do want to, I do want to intercept this ad because last week, the boy ran out of
deodorant.
Duke Cannon has just stocked us with product and everything else.
So I'm like sitting over there looking at all the different products.
I'm like, oh, I'm going to grab this.
I'm going to grab that.
There's one thing that I've grabbed that might be my favorite now.
It's definitely, it might be my favorite scent.
My wife loves it.
Anytime we, you know, we have a nice little smooth.
she just raves about this smell from the face wash, bro.
The face wash, the coal mining face wash where it's like, I don't know what,
I don't know what the sin is or the ingredients in it, but the coal mining face wash.
Dude, it smells incredible.
I came and got the deodor and I came and got like the travel bag.
Like, we're over here shopping in our warehouse with the Duke Canaan product.
But I grab the face wash because I'm like, all right, I need a face wash.
I always do the thing where I take the face wash into the shower and then I leave it in there.
And then at nighttime, I need to go into the shower and grab it.
So I need one in both spots.
But the coal mining, the coal miners facewash, dude, that is, that's my hitter right now.
That's the vibe I'm on.
You can go to, you can check out Duke Cannon at any target or go to Duke Cannon.com and use code Busson.
And we got you for a hookup of 15% off.
That is Duke Cannon.com using code Bussing.
Back to the episode.
Boss, baby, we haven't seen you in a while.
Kick this thing off, brother.
Yeah, it's been a while.
I know, bro.
No, bro.
He knows he can rattle me.
He knows he can rattle me.
Like, he's like, this is game day, and I love it.
Yeah.
My shout-out this week, I went to my first Nashville S.C. game.
I was completely surprising.
I'll get to my shout-out.
But I want to shout out Larry and Jay Pollard for hooking me up with their season tickets.
I was really nice to them, so I appreciate that.
But I didn't, my expectations for the game were pretty low.
I'm not the biggest soccer fan.
Like, it's probably one of the games I watched the least.
But going to that Nashville SC game, like, it was probably better than any, any football
stadium I've ever been in.
And I know that's a hot take.
And I know people are probably going to be upset about that.
But like, that stadium did not stop rocking the entire time.
On top of that, they went up four zero and just completely dominated.
So you're saying the Nashville SC game.
Bro, the atmosphere.
It's unreal.
It's insane.
Was more lit than any football game you've been to.
Any football game I've ever been to.
Right here in Nashville.
Right here in Nashville.
I was locked in the entire game because of that crowd.
It was unreal.
Damn.
And my shout-out is to those events that far exceed your expectations.
That's my shout-out.
That was good.
That was a good one, brother.
I'll have to check that out.
Because you said that's, I was like, okay, let's pump the brakes.
But everybody's back there, not in their head.
Rocking, it's, it's tough, bro.
It's crazy.
I was shot.
Oh, good ones.
I thought you were in the shot.
I was honey.
He went off.
Garrett, Jack, who's holding the mic?
Who we got next?
I'll go real quick.
My shout-out, no free shout-out, is going to go to Amani Hooker for Rocking the Boys merch on Game Day.
A little throwback piece, but when I saw that, I was like, okay, let's go.
I know.
Like when the boys are bought in,
there's just like a different energy.
For real.
Like when you see the athletes rock
in the merchandise.
Taylor wore his,
it wore his Michigan gear.
Appreciate him wearing the new unreleased stuff.
But when I saw Amani,
I was like,
yeah,
it's like Taylor,
like this is your business as well,
so you should be rocking the merch.
But when you see the athletes bought in
for the photo ops,
like that gets you going,
bro.
Yep.
That's my shout out.
Jack, light it up.
I know you've been waiting on this thing.
Uh,
mine's,
pretty simple this week, but it's something
that I never take for granted
and it is shout out, no free shout
out to, like, long hot showers.
Yesterday,
I was sitting a little tough after the game.
But dude,
I will sit in a shower.
If I don't have to worry about it,
like the water getting cold or
just paying for water in general,
like if I'm at a hotel, I'll sit in that bitch
for like an hour. And it's just
so nice. It kind of like falls in on with
like my steam room take the other
week.
But, like, sitting in a long hot shower is just, like, it's like the full reset.
You kind of just, like, disappear from the world for a minute.
And I have to think, you're just like letting the water hit you.
And I just, anytime I have the opportunity to take a nice long hot shower, you know, yeah, shout out water.
And shout out easy, accessible water.
So we're very fortunate that we have these these incredible facilities that is, you know, my bathroom.
So shout out to hot showers.
All right, man.
Hell yeah.
JP, let's go, brother.
All right.
My shout out, no free shout out.
I can't decide if this is going to go to the driver or the animal.
But it's when you're driving.
I like how this is starting.
Yeah, it's when you're driving and a squirrel or something runs out at the last minute in front of your car.
And you make a move.
And then you're like, oh.
Did I hit it?
Look back and you can, like, see it still alive.
You're like, oh, thank God.
Like, I still got it.
I'm sharp on the wheel.
But at the same time, it could also go to,
the shoutout could go to the squirrel, like being elusive.
No, brother.
Them animals go, word that I'm not going to say,
but them boys are pure idiots when they run in the road.
Those animals fucking run in the middle of the road and will stop.
and they, you know, they might be in a panic,
but it's like, yo, just fucking,
there's vehicles coming everywhere.
You got to time that road.
You got to time up that cross.
Right.
You know what I mean?
Like, it could be a shout-out to the animal.
Like, not at all, bro.
They couldn't be dumber when they get in the road.
They get in the road and just freeze.
And we'll turn in, like, look.
Like, oh, this shit's coming about to end my life.
And you basically just maneuver, like, you might hit another car.
An animal runs out and I go, this fucking idiot.
Just like.
Touched.
Shout out to the driver then.
Shout out to the driver for sure.
Shout out to evading animals running across the street.
But that's, ultimately, like, you want to shout out to animal because you're like, you love animals.
Yeah.
It comes from the heart.
Yeah, 100%.
So.
Shout out them animals out.
That's animals.
Um, my shout out, no free shout out of the week, goes to just filled up my gas tank.
And there's like that level of.
pride of I wish people could understand my untapped potential when you consistently drop that gas
right on the right on the dollar sign you're trying to hit. So you fill it up and it's like 50
bucks. When you hit that 50 and you see that 50, you see that 50.00. You know, you kind of look around
with pride. It's same with like the microwave. Like you always try and tie in the microwave.
However, the microwave, it's almost like it's almost like this impossible feat that you'll
always go after, but something with the technology won't really ever allow it to stop in the middle
the beep, but on a gas tank, you get to see if you go over, you go beyond.
So, like, hitting that thing right at the number you were wanting, and you might look
and see if your wife or somebody in the car, like, saw the same thing, because there's
like a, man, I have so much potential that I still have to tap into that I wish the world
could see.
But my shoutout, no free shoutout goes to, you know.
Yeah, yeah.
Click on that thing on that gasoline on them zeros.
So fucking stupid.
All right.
So Packers fans, everything you've been waiting for is this.
moment right now.
Coach Lafleur, Coach Basaccia,
I'm so fucking fired up.
Not even Packers fans, but Raiders fans,
probably Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans
that got to experience Coach Pissaccia.
Hear all the stories about this man.
And I know he went on,
I know part of my take kind of snuck him
on Grit Week, like out from Underis.
But, like, this interview
with Coach Pissachia, when he comes on in the middle
of the interview, and we can sit down with him.
Like everything, when Alec Engel comes on,
Max Crosby, Foster,
Maro? Fuck, I corrected that. Foster Marro, right? Foster Maro? When all the Raiders guys would come on and we try and describe
what Basachi is, like, how, like, he can be a motherfucker, but there's just something about it that makes
you want to run through a wall. You get that vibe from this dude. Some of his Italian comes out.
Like, look, I'm getting caught trying to explain it again. Like, right when he walked onto the bus,
he, like, moves the mic out of the way. Like, he's not going to talk on.
it. Will's like, hey, man, you need to, like, here's the mic.
He's basically, like, waves Will off.
I'm not talking into your mic, bro.
Yeah.
And then 10 seconds later, he's dropping, like, everybody in the bus is like, dude.
If I'm playing football, I want to play for this guy.
Yeah, you just get a really good look into the cookie jar with this, dude.
And you really get to feel what he's about because shout out to him.
I really appreciate him for being open and, like, you know, because they don't have to do that stuff.
And coaches, they're really buttoned up when they're doing these interviews.
But I feel like he really gave us, like,
look like when you're sitting there and talking with him like that's the bassaccia he got off the bus
we hugged um and he left and i came back on with the boys i'm like that's exactly even coach of
flor i'm not like obviously down playing the coach of floor like we get to know him a lot in this
episode too especially on the front end but like uh obviously like i've been on record talking about
bassacchi and everything else and i got to come on the bus blast i don't even know if you've
gotten to listen to the interview yet but i got to come on the bus and be like boys like that was it
like that was you got you got a taste of what it was to like play for coach
pesaccia um but this interview is awesome you guys are going to love it again
please take a moment subscribe to the boys maybe if you maybe you drop the comment maybe it's
time to drop a second comment or maybe you're tuning in here and just drop a comment whatever
you want to say shout out the boys like pro vibes like you know whatever you guys know
you guys know how it is but without without further ado this is the coach lefleur coach
Basacci episode, big hugs, tiny kisses.
Yeah, if you guys are listening, there's a slight little faint buzz right now, listen,
we got the bus towed, however many miles from Nashville to Green Bay.
We are inside of Lambo right now.
We've inserted ourselves in the Lambo.
And, uh, kind of.
And all the wiring, like this has been, uh, we've jimmy rigged this entire thing.
So if you hear a little faint thing, like bear with the boys, because we're going through a lot
of adversity to get you guys fucking awesome interviews.
with head coach HCL,
hammer cockleflure,
and we're going to have Aaron Rogers on.
Like, we're going to have a lot of guys.
So bear with us.
But without further ado,
I'm fucking fired up that you are finally on the bus.
I'm glad I'd get to.
Yeah, let's go.
Yes.
Because we've talked about it for a few years now.
A number, okay, let's start here.
Why haven't we seen
why haven't we seen Willie in the green and yellow?
That's a great question.
Because we've talked now for a few years.
I would love to see that beautiful smile in the green and gold.
Maybe, maybe a December phone call, play off Willie.
If you want to raise the level of like, we need to bring some juice late in the year.
Yeah.
I'm sure.
You bring a lot of juice.
I know that.
If anything, if you ever get in the pinch, just know.
If you call and you're like, hey, would you be able to?
And I say yes.
Just know that you can trust me.
you stay ready so you don't have to get ready.
Let's go. Let's go.
But the last couple of years, so, more so the first year where I ended up playing for the Raiders.
Remember when I signed with the Saints?
That kind of all season, we were, I was so fired up because you got K.O. in here.
K.O. was my, Kirk Alvadadadi was my linebacker coach for five years of Washington.
He was kind of the coach that, like, took a shot on me.
like trust in me kind of bet a little bit like hey i remember when he first said make me right he's like
because we're going with this decision and so knowing that you had ko here i was like man if there could be a
shot to where i could play for both of you guys like i was so fired up obviously it didn't work out but
i thought it was getting close at one point it was it was definitely talked about i will say this
you're a big reason that ko is here really yeah because i remember asking you when we were together
in Tennessee, who the best linebacker coach you ever had.
Yeah, and I believe that.
Like, like, K.O., he's very good, no matter how he does it.
He's very good at getting to the conversational piece that you want to hear from,
whether or not it sometimes he might shy away.
Because K.O. and I, there have been some roller coaster rides with us, like us two together.
Life is a roller coaster.
Right. And in this business, like, especially when you're young,
you don't fully understand the big, like the bigger pictures decisions that kind of
have to be made that kind of really piss you off in the moment.
You're just like, why aren't you fucking telling me this?
And he's just like, put it on me.
It's my fault.
I know it's not your fucking fault, but I don't know why you won't tell me.
And it's, we've had conversations like that, but he's somebody who's always like,
he teaches well.
And the first thing he says to you, which I've told these guys.
I'm like, hey, guys, I love you, but don't ever trust me.
And he kind of says that from the jump to like, you know, it is a business at the end of day.
But yeah, I couldn't like speak higher of Coach K.O.
just because he was the guy that kind of helped.
He was the one where I got my shot.
Oh, no doubt.
And you took advantage of that shot.
Dude.
Yeah.
It's hard.
Undrafted.
I mean, that's a tough road.
You're on the practice squad.
I mean, he did a hell of a job.
Playing the defense against you guys fucking having to cover Jordan Reed every goddamn day in my life.
You and, uh, you and McVeigh.
For the offense.
Yeah.
But, uh, no, man, remember.
And then I was sitting in the, I was about to.
sign with the Saints and I'm sitting in my hotel room and I hit up close coach for because we had
talked on the phone a couple times and like I was very I was I was hopeful and like I was wanting to
play for Green Bay I was like man I would love to get up and play for you and play for K.O. again and obviously like
you know the business is involved and everything like that but I remember like given my last swing
in it and I was sitting in the hotel in New Orleans and I was like hey I did my workout and
they have a contract in front me right now I'm sitting in my hotel room and I haven't signed it
If you can get me to Green Bay right now, I will fucking get on the next point tomorrow and I'll come to Green Bay.
And he's like, bro, you're just like, man, I truly, I don't know.
Like, I can try one more time tomorrow, but that's nothing to hang your head on.
Like, you've got to, like, you've got to take this opportunity because this one is probably not going to be here.
Not because I'm not a beast.
You are a beast.
We probably would have won the Super Bowl that year in Green Bay.
There's no doubt.
Yeah.
You were the missing piece.
Dog, I'm telling you.
But off of that, 39 and 10.
you have the best start of any head coach in the history.
That's correct, isn't it?
I think I heard that on ESPN.
You know what, though?
I hear it a lot.
First of all, it is a reflection of everybody that is here.
It's our players, our coaches, our personnel department, do a great job.
But ultimately, it really doesn't matter.
That's true.
It really doesn't matter.
You're right.
You are right.
I think, because I was thinking about this, because I was like, I want to ask him this
question. I know I'm going to like, ultimately, you get people say cliche or they're giving the
head coach answer. Like, you're giving the right response saying that because truthfully, like,
when you're trying to get to that next thing, like, it doesn't fucking matter what's happened in the past.
What matters is the next step in front of us. But what I want to know, which I think is good.
And I think what makes this thing work with us at times is diving into the perspective of like,
do you ever sit back and like have perspective for yourself? And like, not in an arrogant way, be like,
I've done this, but have an appreciation for how far you've kind of come and started off like this,
whether or not you can say I've had arguably the greatest quarterback.
We've had the best players or I got to come in this situation.
Do you ever have a perspective where you can sit back and take from that perspective?
And then you make it relatable to everybody because people are like, okay, he is a human
and he does appreciate his wins because I get it that you're fucking like, it doesn't matter.
And we got to win a Super Bowl.
And I'm two and three in the playoffs.
and all of those fucking answers.
Thanks for pouring salt in the wound there, Will.
Well, but I say that because I feel like that's something you'd be like, you know, at the end of the day, I'm this.
I'm that because while you're going, you're also preparing for your whatever.
If there ever is another gig or your next boss, like you always got to be this certain fucking person that's got it together.
But do you take moments to appreciate and see the body of work that you've put together since you've been here?
Well, for myself, it's never I.
It's we.
And because like I told you earlier, it takes a lot of people to make this show go.
And first and foremost, it starts with our players.
And we've had, obviously, we have a lot of Pro Bowl type players.
But not only are they great on the field, they're great in that locker room.
And I think that's what I guess if there is a moment to say I, that all you can do is lay out a vision.
And then it's on everybody else, whether they want to.
to choose to follow that vision. And we've had just great people that have come together for the
betterment of the team. And I think that is probably what I'm most proud of. And it's not the
wins and losses. And certainly we all know why we're here. Everybody in the league is here to hoist that
Lombardi trophy. Yeah. And to win that. And, you know, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter how many
games you win in the regular season, only one team's happy at the end of the year. So until we reach
at, we're going to be a little disgruntled, I guess.
No doubt.
But like with that, and I see what you mean because you could come in,
you come in an organization like this, like the history behind it.
Not only that, but like Aaron Rogers, the squad, the talent, the, I mean, the Lombardi,
Green Bay, all of it.
Like you come into this situation.
And you sit back and you're like, all you can do is lay out a vision.
And I'm proud that we all found a way to like come together.
Like, what were some things that you felt like you had to kind of add to your
toolbox or your bag or whatever the word you want to use coming into this situation being an
offensive coordinator being the head coach of this and trying to get people to buy into that or you
even being like what are things that i need to buy into like what pivots have you had to make
becoming a head coach i think you're constantly learning but i think it all starts by hiring the
right people around you and it's okay if you don't have all the answers you can lean on each other
you know, we have a lot of open dialogue, not only with our staff, but with a lot of our players as well.
And I think that's, I mean, I just, I'm of the mindset that collectively we can figure it out, figure it out.
Not one person has all the answers.
So that's kind of how we operate.
Is that hard to do in a business like this?
Like usually there's, you know, people have titles and you come in and if you have like an open dialogue style of like, hey,
guys like we you be don't be afraid to fucking speak up like because we all want to learn from each
other are there do you feel like there's a like a growing pain in that especially coming into such
like an alpha mentality like masculine environment in business no 100% I think people aren't necessarily
used to that in our in our business as much although I think it's starting to trend a little
bit more that way. But yeah, I think it all goes back to getting, it's the relationships, right?
People getting to know you, you getting to know them. And then that's where you can have real
honest conversation. Yeah. Getting into the last, like getting into the end of last year where,
you know, you get into the playoffs, you don't make it as a Super Bowl. Obviously at a place like this,
the standard is like, it's a Super Bowl.
Like you guys have been to a couple of NFC championships.
At the end of this past year, what were a couple things that you went in,
whether you close the door with coaches in there, just yourself,
your most trusted people, to where you're like,
these are the things we need to fucking tighten up
or these are the things we need to fix.
Because obviously you get a sense of being very sick and tired of making it so far,
being like the best team in like the regular season.
And being like, what is it going to fucking?
take to just get past this goddamn hurdle.
Well, yeah.
What are a couple things you look at and some changes you might have made
or things that you look to?
Yeah, I think, well, you do that every year.
You always look at, you know, what went right.
What are the things that you got to fix?
And then certainly when you get to the playoffs,
I was talking to Sean McVeigh about this.
You know, it's like it's the closest thing to March Madness.
I mean, the competitive balance is so close.
And it's a play here or a play.
and you know from playing in this league's for so long.
But certainly we've had some bad mistakes at some really bad times.
So you look at, you know, obviously last year in the playoffs, just we were pretty much in control of that game.
Although we weren't playing very well offensively.
I mean, our defense was, they showed up.
Yeah.
And they were playing as good as I've ever seen our defense play.
and then you have a miscue at the end of the game with the block punt that gets returned.
You know, it stings.
It still stings.
It's always going to sting.
But it's just because you can't, those opportunities are so precious.
You've got to take advantage of them when you're in the moment.
So you always try to reflect and take as much emotion out of it at the end of the season, which is hard to do.
Right.
And I wish the league would just like shut down for a couple weeks to let everybody kind of decompress.
But that's not the world we live in.
So you've got to make quick decisions and you've got to try to make them with without being emotional.
And like I said, it's so hard to do.
But, you know, the opportunity to get a guy like Rich Basacci in here.
Oh, yes.
It presented itself.
And, you know, it's one of the toughest part I think about being a head.
coach is saying goodbye to other other people.
Yeah.
And guys go.
And that's something that I'll never get used to.
Um, but it is part of the job.
And you always have to have the interest of there's so many people associated with
our organization, not only just our coaches and players, but personnel and just everybody
that works here.
And so you always got to, you have responsibility of looking out for everybody within the
organization.
Yeah.
We're going to step aside from the episode.
And we bring you guys Revital Light.

Does it get harder like this past year? Does it sting more than the years past? Like obviously they all sting, but it was there a sense of like God damn it, dude.
I can tell about your grant.
Sure. Absolutely. But like there's no, like I said, all you can do is reflect, try to learn from it and move on.
and it's a new year.
And so it's not something, unless I'm asked about it,
that I ever put much thought into it at this stage of the game.
Yeah.
Where are you at, mentally?
Like, how's the offseason been for you?
Like, being in that box, like, you explain, like,
you wish that you could have, like, a two-week,
like, just fucking try to remove as much emotion as possible.
But obviously, the farther way you get from it,
the more outside of the box that you get,
like, where are you at now?
How do you feel like going into this year and everything?
I feel great.
It was a really good off-season.
a lot of transition, which, you know, creates a lot of unknowns when you lose so many important
people on your coaching staff, like Nathaniel Hackett, Luke Getzzi, Justin Outton, Mike Smith,
you know, we lost a lot of really good coaches, Murray Streaten.
So that creates, you know, hiring people's hard.
Yeah.
Especially because hiring the right people and guys that are going to fit in with,
with the culture that we have in place.
And so that is, that is, there's a little bit of a learning curve there.
But we've been able to hire some, some great people.
We were able to promote Adam Stenevich to offensive coordinator and bring in guys that Tom Clements,
who, you know, was here previously as Aaron's quarterback coach from his second year all the way to like year 14 or whatever it was.
And then, so we got some, bringing in rich has been awesome.
So we were able to, you know, handle that transition and learn and kind of grow together.
And yet we haven't faced any, you know, real tests yet in terms of the adversity that comes along with the NFL season.
But and then also, you know, replacing some key players.
It's tough when you lose a guy like Devante Adams.
But that is the nature of the beast, right?
You've got to continue to evolve and move on.
and there's no sense in just sitting here thinking about the what-ifs or what should have been
or what could have been.
It's just, here's what we got.
How do we make this work and we move forward?
Do you feel like a lot of the external outside noise when decisions like that have to get made,
like a Devante Admastrating him?
Like obviously you bring in Aaron's old quarterback coach and everybody just naturally reasoned to like
the way Aaron's mystique is.
about what is he doing?
Like what's in his head all the time?
Is he going to retire this year?
Oh, shit, they're bringing in his old quarterback coach.
Do you ever, not do you ever.
Obviously, we all do as human, but like, does that, do you ever feel that weight from the outside world on decisions that get made like that?
Or even not drafting a wide receiver in the first round when everybody's like screaming shit like that.
Yeah, no, I think you have to block that out.
You got to, we put a lot of time into this thing.
And, like, sure, would we have drafted?
a guy if the right guy was there in the first round? Absolutely, we would have. But you can't,
you can't force it. It's got to be, you got to trust. We have a great process. Brian Gutakun,
our GM does a really good job in his personnel department. They do a great job of evaluating.
And, you know, ultimately, you got to take the best players. And you don't want to, you don't want to
force it. And when you force it, that's typically when you make mistakes. I texted K.O.
immediately when you guys drafted that linebacker in the first ran, I said, what the fuck is this?
I bet you did.
I said, what the fuck is this?
He responds.
Rich liked him at a right guard on punt.
He's a little longer than you will.
I know, right?
Fuck.
But I want to get more into like your coaching career because you've had quite the fucking come up.
We were talking about a little bit on the bus and you're, you know, you're very, you have a very, like, stoic approach about, you know, it's all.
you know, playing, meeting the right people,
taking advantage of the right opportunity,
like relating it all the life.
But, like, looking at your background,
like, I didn't know you played for the Omaha Beef, number one.
You didn't know what?
No, bro.
I was right there, man.
No, you play for the Omaha Beef.
Like, you played in the indoor fucking football league.
And then you go into coaching.
The NIFL.
The NIFL, bro.
And then you go in, like,
I think about a guy that's playing in the indoor football league.
And it's not like,
I'm not being, I'm trying my best
not to be sounding disrespectful.
No, you can be disrespectful.
It's okay.
But like, you know, like you sit there and you think of a guy in the
NIFL, the indoor football league,
who goes into Division II coaching.
And then, you know, through probably a connection there.
And then from there, you start climbing the ranks of your coaching
journey.
You get a little higher.
Then you go to Houston.
That's where it seemed like you meet coach Shanhan.
you go to Washington, then you go to Notre Dame for a year, then you get back into it with Atlanta,
then you go to L.A., then the Titans.
Yeah.
Now you're here.
There's a lot of moves.
Bro, a lot of moves.
Although my wife, my wife always tells me, she's like, you don't move.
You relocate, I move.
Dog.
So.
That's got to be tough on the family, number one.
It is tough.
It is tough.
But our kids were young enough where it didn't really affect them.
Yeah.
And they got to live in a lot of cool different cities and meet a lot of new people.
But no, that's life, right, is just being presented with an opportunity.
So going back, my dad was a college coach at Central Michigan.
Yeah, reflect a little bit on your coaching journey because I want to talk about some of the pivotal moments that probably took place as you continue to help.
It's more everybody.
But my dad was at Central Michigan for a lot of years.
He gets fired in my senior year of high school.
So I was going to walk on there.
ended up.
Yeah, you got that?
There's two kinds of coaches.
Coaches who've been fired and coaches who are going to get fired typically.
That's a bar, yes.
But he was at Central Michigan.
Anyways, make a long story short, I went to Western Michigan, transferred to Saginaw Valley, played against Brian.
Oh.
Oh, shit.
The man is here.
We got Coach Versace.
He's going to join us, and he will listen to this story with us.
You thought you never fucking see me again, this year.
I was hoping.
I was ever.
Have you doing?
One, two, three, four.
I'm rich.
Hey.
How are you doing?
Yeah, what's up?
What's up?
It's me.
No?
Okay.
We do, but we cut the background noise.
We're good.
We've been waiting for you.
Welcome to my meeting.
No, no, don't worry about it.
I didn't know what I was supposed to wear.
Here, I'll take it off.
It's hotter and fuck anyways.
Right there.
What's up?
Coach.
Coach, thanks for coming.
They've heard a lot about you.
Garrett, Jack, JP.
We're just in the middle.
He's reflecting on his come-up in the coaching ranks,
and he's talking about his dad a little bit right now.
But I was talking about how he was an indoor football player.
With the Omaha beef.
You what?
That probably makes coach.
He doesn't.
He's...
Got plenty of film on Will missing blocks on pump.
So, if we don't put that out.
Sure.
Yeah, you got to get this thing right.
Like, I know you love your coffee, but.
Come on now, the details.
It looks like you quit lifting.
Come on.
You know this I looked in December.
We're just talking about how I'm coming back in December, maybe at some point.
He says he stays ready, so he don't have to get ready.
You're using my shit.
Oh, I love that.
You faced me last year.
Hey, can you cover a punt?
We were covering punts the next week.
Let's go.
But, yeah, so your dad gets fired.
Yeah.
You're going to walk on there.
Yeah, go to Western Michigan, transfer to Sagina Valley.
In the meantime, Brian Kelly was the head coach of Grand Valley.
He gets that central job after I graduate and I go to Central Michigan as a grad assistant.
That's where I met Robert Sala.
No shit.
So you're connected to fucking Sala.
So we were roommates.
There's a lot of good stories that are probably not appropriate.
What's your best story?
Give us a good story.
Oh, no, no, no, no.
No, so yeah, Sal and I room.
together for a year and he went on and went to Georgia,
then got an opportunity to the Texans.
And they had a QC position open a couple years later.
And he was kind of pounding the table for me with Kyle Shanahan,
with Gary Kubiak.
And it's rare that a QC gets another QC a job is usually its coordinator.
They're not in the position to.
Yeah.
And I had met those guys a couple times, went down in the combine one year,
went to when they were playing the browns i was coaching at ashland university went up and hung out
with them for a night and got got to meet those guys so they could at least put a face with a name
and sure enough i'll never forget gary kubiak calls and he said uh you know we have an opportunity here
do you want to come i said shoot coach i'll get in my car tomorrow i'll be there and so i drove
down to houston from ohio and you know i was there for two years and got to meet some great people and
And obviously Gary Kubiak's a guy that I got a ton of respect for.
And Kyle Shanahan was the offensive coordinator.
And here it is.
Kyle's 28 years old.
I'm 28 years old.
And I'm thinking to myself, man, this guy can't know that much more than I do.
And I was blown away.
I was like, holy shit.
It was next level.
Oh, it was.
I was like, man, I don't know anything about football.
So it was a two-year crash course on just learning football.
at this level.
It's like, I tell people it's like getting your PhD in football.
And especially when you're learning from really great coaches and good people and, you know,
Coobes, Kyle.
Mike McDaniel was there as a quality control.
Sala was a quality control on the defensive side.
So, I mean, we had a pretty special crew.
Yeah, I mean, that coaching trees, you guys are head coaches pretty much everywhere right now.
But I know you're going to fucking hate talking about yourself,
but I'm going to do my best to try to make you do it.
when a QC is banging the table for you to get a job
and you end up getting the job after you do the meeting
and name to a face,
like,
what do you think that you,
I want to say what do you think that you had?
What do you feel like you believed in that,
like,
that, like, put you in a spot that you were like,
you executed at all times.
Like, what do you think made you different enough
to get a job like that?
Like, what's the shit that you got that put you in a position like that?
I just think it goes back to,
you know, there's no substitute for hard work.
And you've got to be willing to put in the work and try to be as detailed as possible.
And I just remember there were a lot of sleepless nights.
I had, we had Alex Gibbs was our offensive line coach.
And I'm doing the run drawings.
And my whole goal on Tuesday nights was to get done with the run drawings so I could go get maybe an hour or two hours of sleep.
And Alex was an early riser.
He'd get in there maybe.
maybe before 4 a.m.
Yeah.
And I'll never forget a couple times.
I'm like just finishing up the last drawing and sure shit I hear the door slam and
in comes coach Gibbs.
And I knew there was no sleeping that night.
You just stay up.
You work all nighters.
And then he sees you there and clearly like that's a feather in the cap.
Well, that's not a feather in the cap.
It's like what the hell's taking you so damn long?
So you just, you know.
But you do what?
it takes to get the job done.
Right, right, right.
Now, going through when you're in Houston, Washington,
like you've gotten the opportunity to coach with a lot of great minds,
like what are things that you felt like you've adopted in your own,
to put in your own game through, like, learning with McVeigh, Shanahan, Vrable,
all those guys along the way.
Yeah, there's something that you learn from every situation.
What's something that really stands out?
So that way, maybe you're not trying to think of too many things.
Well, no, I think first and foremost, just being around all these guys
is you've got to be true to yourself.
and don't try to be somebody else because, you know, as a player, you see right through that.
That's not endearing to people.
Nobody wants to be around that.
So I think it starts with being that.
And then, you know, being with Dan Quinn was a great lesson for me.
And just in terms of how much fun we can have at work and still get everything done that we need to get done.
Yeah.
And just in terms of the environment, the culture.
it kind of changed my view of just coming to work every day.
I love that.
How do you feel about my interviewing skills so far, Coach Bessachi.
Look at it.
He's already got it down here.
Don't stop.
You got to get it close to your mouth now.
Get that, Micah, get that tip close to your mouth.
That does not sound good, Will.
I know it doesn't, but we got a show to operate.
How do you feel like your boy's doing, you know, not punt setting, but.
It looks like you're doing great.
I've met your wife.
It's the best thing ever happened to you.
Let's
He wouldn't have got his wife
He hadn't gotten those teeth picks
She was with me before the teeth
She would have said
No, I got in the teeth legs
Okay, I got you
Because I met her out in Washington
I'll tell you what
Your teeth look phenomenal
I know dude Lafleur would
Every day
Because he's on the offensive side
But we'd be sitting there
Getting our coffee in the morning before meetings
And he'd always come up and call me
Would you call me smile?
I don't know
You'd like man your teeth
Look fucking amazing
I appreciate I spent a lot of money on them
Like me I got buck teeth
Had them to sway my whole life
So we got Coach Missatia, which is a real, which is a real treat.
I think there's still, you still got other stuff you want to talk to the coach about.
Yeah, but there's only a certain amount of time.
I'm learning.
There's only a certain amount.
And I'm sure he's probably sitting here like, let's get some more dynamic in because.
Well, I think he sold himself short on the last stuff that you asked him.
And I think it's hard for people to talk about himself.
I've been with him a short time.
His zeal for football and his attention to detail and his ability to,
see things without someone telling them.
And, I mean, I've been around a lot of teams.
You watch us practice.
There's the whole team that's behind the offense,
15 yards behind the ball.
How many times guys get yelled at to back up, back up?
The entire year.
We don't say it one time in practice.
Not one time.
The whole team moved.
They don't move.
They're 15 yards beyond the ball.
They don't move.
I mean, it's a disciplined schedule.
It's a discipline practice,
yet they're having a good time.
They're flying around to the football.
And I think it's a credit.
to, you know, him and his zeal for football, his respect for players, his drive to win games.
I think it's hard to talk about yourself personally, but I think he sold himself short a little
bit. I can tell why he got hired, why he's moved like he's moved. It gets to be obvious if you're
around him for a little bit. Maybe that's the way we approach this. If I have a question for you,
maybe I ask Basascha, if I have a question for Basatja. What are the-
We'll fuck up the whole interview.
I'm trying to help you.
No, no, no, no.
What are the, what are the things you've learned about Coach Passach in the short time that you've had him?
Because, you know, I don't want to toot my own horn, but we both know.
We all know I love to do my own horn a little bit.
So.
Understatement.
After the years over, I get a nice face time from Coach Lafleur asking about you.
And just the way he probably describes that QC pounding on the table to get Lafleur down in Houston,
I'm probably pounding, not probably, I am pounding the table,
looking, yelling at my phone, telling LaFleur,
do whatever it fucking takes to get Basaccia in the building in Green Bay.
With that said, I just want to put that out there
in case you get in the pinch later in the year and you're thinking about somebody.
With that being said, what have you learned about Coach Basaschi?
Because you didn't really know him prior to hiring him on.
Oh, no, but I'll tell you what.
When he walks in the room, everybody sits up a little bit strong.
A little bit.
Shoot, the best was
our first specialty meeting.
Rich comes in. He's
talking all calm
about, you know, not wearing hats
and, and a...
You don't have to wear a hat,
but if you do,
then get the fuck out.
And I was like this. And immediately
I was like this, well, I took my hat off.
Just slowly kind of put it down.
Actually, no, I took my hat. My hat was off. I always, I got a lot of respect for him.
His career kind of speaks for itself. And I'll tell you what, you know, I didn't even think it was going to happen. I thought the Raiders, if they made the right decision.
No question.
I mean, there was no decision in my mind. So, but, you know, their loss is our game.
Yeah. This is a juicy little, does he not have some of the best speeches you've ever heard?
Oh, unbelievable.
In front of men who watch all the football movies who've been motivated their entire life.
But once you get to like a certain age and point in your football or your sport, athletic career,
it starts to get a little numb.
Like, all right, this coach, like you say you want to play to your strength.
Like, you don't want to beat somebody or not.
So you can see the coaches who give the bullshit stories or the bullshit cliches.
Like, but when he gives a speech, I'm back in Friday, watching Friday Night Lights or remember the Titans back in high school.
No, it is.
It's so impressive.
It's inspiring.
It really is.
But here's what I love about.
Rich. He is obviously, he's hard on our guys, and he's going to tell him the truth and be honest.
But he's just as good as anybody at building them back up as well.
Yeah, how do you do that?

That shit is awesome.
Like, what do you think you've learned?
Like, this is actually a serious question.
Like, because I try and explain it at times, but it's kind of hard to explain because
you do like, motherfucker.
Like, you'll tear us down.
But there's this, like, bond, I feel like, that every player has with you.
And I've only played with you.
Like, people talk about me and the Raiders or me.
Like, what was it like playing for Rich or what was it like when you were there?
And I was like, you guys got to remember.
I wasn't there at that time.
I've played 13 games total, I think, for the Raiders over the two years I was there.
Yeah, but you've been around Adam Hayward, you know, play with me for a long time.
But still, it's still like, you know, when you pat dudes on the chess and you talk about why you pat dudes on the chest, you want to feel their heart and shit.
Like, you say some shit to where it's like, it's like real.
Like, how do you think you're able to do that?
I'm giving all my stuff out.
We're trying to help people grow in their own life.
Yeah, there's probably questions that.
I'm a firm believer that players want.
the truth. They want to know how we see it so they can either disagree,
have a professional conversation about it, or they can go, okay, if that's what he's
looking for, that's what I have to try to do. So, and I think it's rare than I demean
the person. I think I demean the act of the player, and that they can fix. So,
now I'm not saying I haven't gotten after guys on a personal level at times, but I think if I do
that, I've probably built some form of a personal relationship with them as well before I do that.
Yeah, the Johnny Carson comment radio show when I would do something wrong.
Like, I would be nervous the entire time it's happening.
But I'm thinking, like, at least I know he's like kind of like joking with me.
I feel like.
Well, I just didn't know about what, I mean, I'm really thinking.
He was like, put, I'll fuck up on someone.
Yeah, put that on your fucking radio show, Johnny Carson.
I'm just sitting there.
Everybody's like laughing.
I'm like thinking, guys, please stop laughing.
Like, this isn't helping.
And you can make money at this stuff.
Um, no, I think as you're, you're talking to, like I was thinking about, I'm thinking about certain
situations where you obviously address stuff in front of everybody and you separate the act from
the person. Um, and then not only that are you dressed in front of everybody, which is like,
probably at first everybody's like, damn, he's, he's really ripping on me. Like, he's disrespecting
me in front of people. But then after the meeting, when you'll coach the guy kind of in the same way,
but on a more personal level, and in front of maybe two or three guys, like, you don't care
who's standing there. You'll continue to be your same self and maybe get on more of a personal
level. And then even there, like guys, sometimes it's just a witness effect. Like, okay, he's just
like that. He's really trying to fucking coach this guy the right way and also like love him the
right way as well because everybody's a little bit different. But as you say that, I feel like
those are moments that kind of shape that stage to be that open in front of everybody.
Well, special teams film, it's a little bit different than O and D. And I've been on both sides of the
but there's um everybody sees it you know you can miss a block as an offensive lineman and you
get two more downs to get it done you can miss a tackle you know and i got two more chances to
make a tackle you get one play right it's it's a defining play kind of takes on a life of its own
and everybody sees it so if you go by it they're all like you can go by that for me yesterday
why is he not why's he not saying anything to wilbur here you know what i mean why's he not
anything to him.
So I think that you have to be honest with them in that tape so that you can,
they're all learning from that mistake because of the one play, if that makes any sense.
And I only get them for a certain period of time, and they only have a certain period of
time in their career.
And we're usually coaching guys that are, you know, if they bring more than toothbrush to
training camp, they're kidding themselves, right?
You've been there.
So try to get them as good as you can, as quickly as you can, so they can play for as long
as they can. I just think the more truths you can give them or more, this is how I'm wanting to see it,
the better chance they got to do it the way you're wanting to see it. But you can't go by a mistake.
If you go by a mistake, that's the new standard you set. You're going to set a standard,
you've got to hold them to the standard every time. And when the standard is upheld,
you're like, that's it. That's it. But you might have made a mistake because now I know you can do it.
So now you have to do it every time. But if you go buy one of your standards that you set as a standard,
you go buy it, well, that's the new standard you set.
Right?
And so now they're all going to play to that one.
So I want them to play to the highest standard they possibly can for themselves.
You just give him a whistle, bro.
Just give him a whistle.
And when he got here, did you have one conversation?
Like, I'm going to give you a whistle and you just do your thing?
Yeah, Rich, he's been great.
He's got the keys of the car, man.
No, seriously.
But like, there's so much stuff that I've learned from him, you know,
sitting in those meetings, not only from, you know,
schematic standpoint or whatever it may be, but just,
this guy's got a lot of wisdom, man.
I mean, he's been doing it at a high level for a really long time,
and he's authentic.
And that is everybody can see that.
Yeah.
Having you both here, obviously this question seems bigger than what it is
because I know it's just going to be like, you know, some regular,
like it's going to be more it is what it is.
But what do you guys think it takes for Green Bay to get over the hump?
You come in, you've been here.
You hire him, you come in, you sit back with them from kind of a different lens or a different angle that you might be able to give some fresh blood or fresh perspective.
What do you guys sit back and think like, all right, here's somebody might handle some certain situations or times of the year this year or like what's it going to take for Green Bay to get over the home?
I think for us, it's just like we talked about earlier.
We can't make bad mistakes at those times.
I mean, you've got to be on your game because the margin of error is so minuscule.
You can't have, you know, a play before a half where we give up, you know, a touchdown pass to Tom Brady two years ago.
We can't have a block punt.
We can't have a block field goal.
We can't, you know, we can't have a fumble when we're driving.
You just can't make those mistakes in those.
big time games. And I also think that there's a mentality to this, too. You can't be afraid to go for it
and understanding that, hey, you know what? We may fail. We may fail. But damn it, we're going to
we're going to give it our best shot. I think that that is more of a mentality that we're trying
to get everybody. Don't be afraid of making a mistake. Really go for it because if you don't,
and you're probably not going to get there anyways. Yeah, I think he's really good at that.
what he just said. He's really good at keep the pedal to the metal, yet understand how we have to finish drives or how we have to finish before the end of the half.
I'm learning that for him. What a start process is that way. And I think the other thing he's done a great job of is whatever happens, happen. Don't look in the rear of your mirror anymore. Let's keep our eyes going forward. Let's see what today looks like.
We get a little bit better today. Let's see what tomorrow looks like. And I think he's done a great job with the team with that.
You know, and so I'm trying to get in where I fit in, you know what I mean?
I just, and, you know, we got Rebs and New Outside Linebacker coach,
and some guys got some new titles on offense, and it's a staff.
For me, this staff and Coach LaFourer, my conversation before I came here,
and every day with him, to be honest with you, I'm kind of, you know,
I'm re-energized.
I'm in the mecca of, you know, football, the greatest Italian of all time coached here.
Yeah, that's what we want.
I get to be with a staff that loves football.
They love being around.
each other. I've been to coach for his house like three times and all three times he's got an
indoor basketball court not to call him out but it's a does he come with this little uh newsboy and hat
on it's only when it's cold it's only one it's cold i've been there three times and every kid in the
neighborhood is over there playing and within the first 15 minutes of being over there next thing you know
the doorbell rings and his wife's ordered uh food breeze ordered food and all these kids come up they got
their shirts are off they're sweating they're
playing their rear ends off in there and they're all eating they got pizza they got chint they got everything
in there and i'm like breeze this she goes that's like all the time you want to use the pool go
used i mean i just feel like it's a there we are trying to build coaches trying to build a family
community atmosphere within the building and then i think the players are understanding the difference
between that and what it is to have a brotherhood of men and to be accountable to your job and the guy
next to you in front of you and all those things so i'm i'm enjoying them and the direction um that
he gives and the way in which the staff
competes and works with each other.
It's, it's, it's been fun.
I've been re-energized.
This is a dynamic.
I love, I love all of this right now.
You guys fucking going back and forth.
Um,
I want to talk about coaching 12 because you've had the,
you've been around good quarterback,
you've been around great quarterbacks.
You've been around Matt Ryan.
You've been around.
Who'd you have in Houston?
Shob.
Shob.
Shob.
He's,
I love Shob.
Yeah.
He's one of the most underrated guys that.
Right, right.
like people might hear that and be like, okay, well,
pump the brakes on great, but you've been around a lot of, like,
high-level thinking quarterbacks that live in the details of everything.
What separates Aaron Rogers or how does he compare to all of the quarterbacks you've been
around?
Like when you sit back and you're like, because you're not, you're labeled, if you talk to
coaches, like, you're labeled as like an offensive fucking minded detail.
Like, how does he come up with certain shit?
When you sit back and watch 12 work, like, what is, what has been different about him
since you've gotten here. Well, first of all, he loves ball. He loves ball. He's got an unbelievable memory.
He'll remember stuff 15 years ago. Aaron Rogers' memory or Sean McVeigh's memory? Gunned to your
head. Ooh, that is a tough one. Sean, I know. Sean's got a hell of a memory too.
Barry trap of a memory. They're both. They're both up there. Who would you pick?
You know, that's a great question. I'm going to have to go with.
Aaron. Okay. I'm going to have, that's interesting. That's awesome to hear too because you were talking
about some like, I got to support our players. Yeah, you got to support your boy. But no, they're both
extremely sharp. And, but no, Aaron just, he has a way of, I think I was telling you this the other day.
I feel like his, his left side of his brain and his right side of his brain work, operate independently
of one another. He is the ultimate multitasker. He can be out on the field. He can be observing what's
happening with the defense if there's seven guys in.
I can be calling a play and he can almost be having a conversation all at the same time.
It's the damnedest thing I've ever seen.
The best was a couple years ago.
We were playing in Detroit.
It was the COVID year.
So what was that?
2020.
Yeah, when he was very nice.
We're down.
Hey, that's part of the humor party.
It's all right.
You guys can be like this is going to be good stuff.
I can't wait for that conversation to happen.
But I'll never forget.
So they showed an all-out pressure look.
And I'm watching, you know, the play clock and it's five, four, three.
And mind you, he is talking to Tanya, you're going to have to ask him about this.
He's having a conversation with Tanya.
I'm thinking there's no way he's going to get this ball snapped.
He's telling him what to do.
And as the clock is hitting zero, he gets the ball snap.
and it was probably going to be a walk-in touchdown
where Bobby blocks out and then releases,
you know, the old, I don't know, great cover zero-beater,
but I don't think he's going to get the playoff.
So I pop a time out right before the snap.
And he's like, God damn it, Matt.
But I just, you know, it's just.
Just started ripping you thinking like.
No, it's a great, it was a great, I guess, lesson for me
in terms of just trust that this guy,
I mean, he's so aware of everything that's going to go, that that's going on that he'll get the job done.
That's legendary.
What time is it?
What time is it right now?
All right, cool.
Yeah, no, this has been fucking awesome.
That's an awesome story.
Like, how does it, like, when he comes over and he's like, God damn, Matt, is it like a, my, like, is it like a fucking, because you know, you know how the outside world to be, too.
So, like, some people would be, oh, look at Coach Rogers talking to LaFloire.
No, no, no.
We have that stuff all the time.
All right, boys, I hope you're enjoying this episode.
This last question comes to us from Roebuck.
Use code boys, B-O-Y-S, on rowback.com for 20% off your first purchase.
That's R-H-O-B-A-C-K.com and use code boys.
They work with the best college athletes from Will Anderson to the boy Michael Mayor
and Bijon Robinson and have the best performance polos, cue zips, and hoodies.
It's all that we wear.
And for our guests today, we like to gift them,
Rob-Back performance hoodies on us.
I'll have to ship to LaFlor and Pasachia, both individuals.
but this final question is brought to you by Roebuck.
Well, how did you feel?
Here's what I want to ask,
because I always tell this story when I was on the Raiders
and the Titans came to town.
We obviously lost the Titans.
And there was a ceremony after the game
where I collected like 10 to 15 jerseys.
And we always talk about it
because I always talk about how nervous I was
going up into the locker room afterwards
and the whole next week.
You kind of mentally and verbally had your way with me
to where I didn't feel like I was like I you feel like you fuck up in that moment because we're in the bubble of playing ball but I'm thinking like I've like this is these are relationships like this once we get outside of the season and a year gets removed like this would be something I look at and be like this was fucking cool but how much did you actually hate me during that time or like did you think anything different I hate's a strong word I was really I was disappointed in you and um that cuts deep it does it really but I knew that it was in the moment it was in the moment
when it's over.
Now, I may bring it back and pop at you
every now and then, but it was over.
But at that time,
that's how I felt.
So it's hard for me.
If I feel something at a particular time,
I'd rather not wait to let it out.
I'm just going to kind of...
Oh, your fucking jersey. You want you to go play for their fucking team.
I'm like, oh, my God, I'm sitting there shit.
I don't remember them calling him.
That's the point.
That's the whole point.
We called them.
Got it.
Yeah, because it was always interesting with you
because guys would be, I call it Rich Fucks with the Outback guys.
I'm like, rich fucks with me because there's a couple of people
that we both know very well, and they probably like, you know,
stamped my name for them.
But between the Jersey thing, there'd be a couple of reps that I would,
I fucked up on, like, in walk-thrus or, like, when stuff would be serious
and I would, like, mess something up because I'm either, you know,
I'm too locked in.
I'm seeing too much.
You know what I'm saying?
But when he called me for the second time
or when he was like,
why did you go back to the Titans
whenever I signed with the Titans
when the Raiders had an offer too?
Like, when we kind of had our relationship
beyond that first year,
I was like, I didn't know
Basacchi have fucked with me
because I thought,
truth be told,
I thought you didn't like me
for the longest time,
mostly because of that Jersey debacle.
Well, it'd be a long list
of those guys that don't think I like them.
But I called you again,
didn't I?
You did.
So again, for me,
I just,
I can't wait to come to work to be around the players.
My three priorities in life are my wife, my kids, and the players.
That's it.
I don't have enough room in me, my makeup.
I don't have enough room for all that other stuff.
So the players that love it and their actions show that they love it,
I love those players.
And that's why I can't wait to come to work in the morning.
It doesn't matter what I'm coaching, position head.
It's irrelevant.
It's football.
I get to do this for a living.
My dad worked for a living.
He had hands of sandpaper.
You know what I'm saying?
I get to do this.
And it's about players.
Players make plays, right?
So if I get to come to work and help a player make his dreams come to fruition,
it's like, wow, you know, that's what we're all looking to do.
Yeah.
You know, that's the wow factor for us to what we do for a living.
That's the payback.
You know what I mean?
That's the payback.
To see those guys individually have personal success and then collectively in this sport now,
you know, baseball, you play all those games.
You just go to bat and practice.
You're going to play a game.
They've got to eat this stuff for seven days.
Yeah.
Winner loss, right?
And the difference, Jason Whitten taught me,
the difference between a pat in the back and a kick in the ass is six inches.
Well, if you stay too long in that pat in the back,
you're getting ready to get a kick in the ass.
You stay too long in that kick in the ass, you know,
you may never get the pat in the back again.
So it's just a matter of players.
You just fucking love it.
It's a lot to say that you love me.
And I just want you to know I love you too.
I appreciate you guys for coming on.
Hey, and just know, I've said this before,
but this kind of vibe, this could be every day.
I just want you to just keep that in mind if you guys ever need a,
you never need a right guard on punt,
you ever need a backup linebacker, like, just know.
I want you to tell that story.
Hey, you got shit scared that I had to put you a tackle.
I'm up there to guard.
It's because your legs are only this long.
No, but when you're on tackle, but when you're on tackle,
you're on, you know, you got to be quick now.
Fortunately, like, you know, my ability took over.
But the most comfortable spot is the guard
because you're probably going to get to release and go make a tackle first.
When you're a tackle, when you're a tackle,
you have to spend a lot more time
like blocking and fucking...
Plus the tackles, you have to run better.
That's why you're another reason you're up better.
Well, and I'm trying to get out fast.
But I...
You kind of shot me on that one, too.
But I appreciate you guys.
More length at tackle?
Ever, the whole fucking vibe, like,
it wasn't until like Washington I got to be on punt return,
but it wasn't until Tennessee with Ackerman.
And then Besascha, they would just talk about my arms.
And I wouldn't even get a look on punt return.
Like, I wouldn't even...
It was like a water break.
I can't hold anybody up.
That's what you thought.
You never tried me out.
You're like the Shaquille O'Neal of little people.
I love you guys, man.
I appreciate you guys coming on.
We got to get the big part on here because I know we only got like probably eight minutes.
Hey guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers.
I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano. It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast point game, the playoffs.
We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments.
If we didn't talk ever again, I was hungry.
You just understood.
That's how personal it got.
Wow.
Then after that game seven, Mark keep coming to you. He's like, you know I love you, dog.
You know, it's all love.
This was just playoffs.
This was just basketball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
