There was a card show that took place. Father's Day happened. Mitch's birthday, along with my beautiful wife's birthday, took place. But I would love to personally start if it's okay with you. Kansas City and the boys going to the World Cup. It's what everybody's talking about. Talks about America. Hey, we don't know what we're going to do.

They'll probably be in the group series. And then once they can get bounce, they're probably going to get bounce. Seems like they're setting the world on fire. You go to two different teams. And I just want to know about the entire experience. Can I get a neutral? Yeah, let's crack a neutral. Shout out to neutral.

for making it happen. Sending the boy JP to KC. Here we go. I think the coolest part about it all is like a lot of Americans don't fully understand the weight of the World Cup, the weight that it carries across the globe. The smallest country that's in the World Cup, Cape Verdei, their goalkeeper, who nobody has ever heard of, now has the same amount of followers as Tom Brady on Instagram. The greatest NFL player of all time.

No shit. Has the same amount of followers. as Cape Verde's goalie, a 37-year-old goalkeeper. That is nuts. What's his name? That is crazy. His nickname is like Vizino, which means little granny, because he's the oldest guy on the team.

Little Gras. Is he a short boy? No, no, he's not a short boy. Okay, so it's like a big guy called Tiny type of situation. He has something with their culture. Nice. But yeah, man, the World Cup, growing up a soccer fan, you love playing World Cup.

There's a game in the summer. You partner of, say it'd be me and Jack. We want to choose Argentina. they would choose Brazil. They're choosing France. Somebody always chooses Djibouti, one of the fun countries. You grow up playing it. You want to be Argentina because they have Messi.

You want to be Brazil because they had Ronald Dino. So World Cup is all over my childhood. So then to go to the game where Messi, the greatest goat of all goats, is playing in what it will be his last World Cup. Even though based off his performance, I'm not sure if I could be convinced that he's not going to show up for another one because I think he could probably still give him 30 or 40 minutes. But to see this atmosphere and probably the stadium holds 70, 75K,

probably 55 to 60K of them are Argentinian fans. And Messi puts that first goal in. And to see 65,000 people hands up, all start bowing, Messi, Messi, never seen it for any athlete. And with Messi's back, story too like the guy comes from rosario like middle of nowhere argentina found on accident a scout is coming to see somebody else they see this undersized kid and now he has changed an entire country like that's you can't understate it like he has changed an entire country and he's just a little

boy from rosario coming from the dirt and the way the the amount of like humbleness that he has and gratitude towards his fans and everything he gets subbed off after scoring his hat trick and he's uh he's like you know hugging everybody he's going to sit down all the seats are full one of the young guy stands up messy like hey have my seat obviously messy's like no you're all good sits down by the cooler on the grass and this is the greatest soccer player of all time greatest player of the most popular sport in the world ever and so to be in the stadium on behalf of neutral was truly like a it unlocked so many fun childhood memories of me and my love for soccer, my love for Messi,

because I was always a messy defender when it comes to Messi versus Ronaldo. So to watch him get his first ever hat trick in the World Cup, become the oldest player to score a hat trick in the World Cup, oldest player to score in the World Cup was just like, that's something that I tweeted out, I don't have kids. And in the stadium, like, I can't wait to tell my kids about this. And I don't even have kids yet.

That's so awesome. So it was, and neutral made it happen. Shout on neutral for that, dude. That's incredible. And then Ryan got first trip. Yeah, it was sick. I mean, to see, like, also even just the soccer fans, like the way they are compared to even NFL fans, like the chance the whole time. Because soccer's not a sport.

There's always something going on. But they all, the fans are constantly going with their chance. And just, like, the energy there was, it was unbelievable. It really was. Hour after the game, stadium still, like, you know, the spirally things that are on each, like corner of the stadium where you walk up to the second level? Yeah, yeah, like the ramps. The ramps after the game for an hour, they're all just still in there chanting, whatever they're saying.

Yeah. And just flags, wave in. And I'm like, man, it really is. It's unbelievable. I need to know how they learn. Is it you learn these chances as a young lad and you grew up and you just know them? Because you were saying also that they were changing the chance to include messy into it. It's just, it's amazing for 90 minutes, everybody's standing up and being loud the entire time.

is just a foreign thought process to me being in the football world where it's like you either crush it and you get a loud pop or it's kind of like died down for a minute you're waiting for the next piece of action to take place. It's just nuts, man.

How was the stadium volume compared to maybe the Nebraska game that we went to? What was it? Week zero, week one? JP told me it was comparable to Nebraska fans. I FaceTime Will there. I'm not sure if you can hear me. But I mean, I don't know.

I think when the hat trick happened, when the third goal hit, it was like a deafening type of cheer. And again, that's probably only 60,000 people screaming. And it was like, it gave you that ringing in your ears similar to like a kneeling stadium when they're just going berserk. It does feel different. I was watching the clip, but when they were doing the national anthem in L.A. And you just hear the crowd roaring after that gets done.

And that holds, what, about the same 70,000? Yeah, well, and they sing out the whole fans, all the fans were singing the national anthem like at the top of their lungs, which I'm like, you know, in the U.S., you just sit and you have the person performing it. Yeah. But there it's just both countries,

just extremely proud, patriotic. Yeah, I do feel like those World Cup soccer games are like different to where you want to go and witness the fans versus like, you know how the saying is like, just go to experience like, experience a game at kneeling, experience a game in Nebraska,

experience the game of Michigan. It's like you almost want to go at the World Cup just to witness what the fans do. at those games. It's been fun to follow along with on social because I'm not a big soccer guy. But seeing all the international people come over and experience buckies

and just the little things in America and they're just like, you know, this is the greatest thing of all time. Dude, people being like we were lied to about America this place absolutely rips. You did a bunch of man on the street stuff.

Was that the same feeling that these people were having about America? Oh, yeah. The guy from Algeria, he was like, man, this is like, what's your favorite thing about the U.S.? He said everything. The people are incredible.

The food is awesome. Like I could not believe how nice everybody was when I got here. And like this has been the greatest thing. Like no bad things to say. All great. Like have to come back. God, that juices me up,

man. It's so funny. I do love the, Terry Blacks. They made this extremely hard at it with a Japanese person. They were like, what are you most excited for about Texas? She said,

Big beef. And they just like beat drop, big X to plug. So it goes on. All of me. Let's fucking go The Argentinians actually Like I know we're doing a thing for neutral

But they were smacking neutrals behind us Those three guys They were like all about it They got shirtless after the first messy goal They all just took their shirtless The rest of the game guys were just shirtless behind those Would they are they the most rowdy fan base You've ever seen?

No I mean Yeah they weren't too rowdy I would love to see them maybe like If it was Argentina versus Brazil England is probably like The rowdiest Really They'll be saying some offside stuff

stuff. So it's so funny when Wyndham Clark wins the U.S. Open, there's like a guy last year from Britain, some reporter that's just like dunking on them for like for Wyndham Clark cussing and all these things. You see the England soccer fans? They're like the most, like abrasive type of fans that you can ask. It shows you how important sunlight is, man. Those guys don't see any vitamin D their own entire life. They just out there angry all the time. They don't know why. It's called seasonal depression 24-7, man. You got to get some. Got to get some. We got to play England in the World Cup. The USA versus England game would be.

What kind of shot does America have? Because they're two and O. It seems, well, do you mind? Yeah, you've kind of broken down a little bit from me, and you can step in any point and start fumbling over myself. But it seems like we have a young, extremely talented team. And America put in a bunch of money to go get this elite coach to come over. Argentinian coach who is like big on, obviously game playing strategy,

but he's a huge like locker room culture guy. dudes with a lot of talent to come together and emphasize the best best version of themselves and going into the world cup it was kind of like a little messy the way the way i kind of view it is when you watch like the dream team documentaries and basketball how you've always like superstars come in and they don't know how to like share the ball or share anything like that's kind of where my brain's going in the movie of america is going to win it all now and it seems like the last two games or three games we've played two yeah okay the last two games they've been just like these boys are in flow state like they're looking like they're the team that are maximizing their full

potential did i miss anything there miss nothing it's cool to see the coach to really embrace like the american spirit he's like sending a message to the team of like you guys have got to remember like you are american and americans don't take shit from anybody and that's how you guys need to step out onto the field where that message probably was not being delivered from our previous coaches and it's cool and he's like i'm argentinian at heart of course he's like but i will I bleed and I will die for America now that I'm coaching this team. Oh my God, that juices me the fuck. What's this coach's name?

Pochette, like, I always botched the pronunciation of it, but like Pochitino. Pochitino. Yeah. He's awesome. And he's like a hard-nosed coach. Like, he'll call you out on your BS. It could be, it's not fun to play with him, but he's going to bring the best out of you and it's fun to win.

I love that. Do you need an Argentine coach? We currently have the 10th best odds at plus 33-300. Newell plus 3,300 for USA to win. It might be worth just pop in a future on that one, boys. Plus 3300. Nice little snipe. See what happens.

In your mind, you're a soccer guy. Is it out of the realm of possibility? It's not out of the realm of possibility. There's still like four teams that have way more talent than us and experience. Gotcha. But it's soccer. Like Cape Verde, the smallest country in the World Cup has now tied two teams. And one of them was Spain.

Spain is one of the top Spain was I believe the number one odds to win it How much longer do we go in group play Before the tournament happens We have one more game left in group play Then we'll go to knockout stage And now as group play is this is like a seating process

That's taking place Yeah it's like the top two from each group Make it out And so You know it just depends like where you are in the in the bracket And we're like kind of locked in Yeah we've made it We've clinched

So we're solid So right now are possible teams that we could play is whoever finishes in third between Group B, E, F, I, or J. So right now in group B, it's Bosnia or Erzavna. Yep, yep, sound that out.

Ecuador, Netherlands, Senegal, or Jordan. Those are the five teams we could possibly play. Great matchups. We like that. I just been seeing people, I feel like Netherlands is the most scary. Insanely pessimistic in the comments. Like, everybody sell it like is all excited

because America's winning. Everybody's, oh, they're going to get, you know, they're going to get, we're going to get, we're going to get dummied when we get, to the, what is it, 32. Yeah, the knockout of 32. And is it a single elimination? Yeah, yeah.

Okay. Might be worse sprinkling. Just get super patriotic and just be like, hey, crazier things have happened. Why not just jump in there? Jump in there a little bit. Speaking of bets. Speaking of bets.

Come on now. Wyndham Clark. U.S. Open? I mean, I feel like I don't want to start a round of plus myself, but that was, I mean, plus two thousand. My God. That was a big hit. Big hit.

I take zero credit for it. That is 100% Tanner Technini. Thursday, I'm leaving the shop, driving home. I get a call. Answer, Chief. He goes, hey, whatever money he got on Fandle, put it on Wyndham Clark. And I'm like, oh, what's going on? Is he winning right now?

He's, like, haven't even played yet. But you need to know, like, he's been playing really well. And that's how, like, Wyndham Clark goes. Because Tanner Technini, Rob Moogie and I all went to Chaparral High School. The three of us were really good friends in high school, but Rob and Tanner especially. So Rob and Tanner talk all the time. So Tanner's been super invested. it into Wyndham Clark, his ascension

since Rob is now representing him from the Asian standpoint. And he's like, I've been on this guy, his last two or three wins, and I've like timed it up. And I just, I'm telling you, this is the time. This is the time right now. So while, like, I'm at a red light responsibly, I have about $1,700 in my Fandual account. I just put a thousand on it thinking like, I'll be a part of the vibes.

I'm a trust my boy. I'll be a part of the vibes. Like, we're going to, we're doing this responsibly. It's all good. And then I think it was after Friday when they play Friday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, correct? Thursday. Thursday. Okay, so they do play Thursday. Yeah, yeah. Okay. After Thursday or Friday, it's like at like

4,000 or 5,000. The next day it gets up to like $9,000 because he's leading by six strokes. And that's what I put, that's when I go to Twitter and I'm like, should I be cashing out here, golf fans, let me know. Yeah. Wildly, it's like 80, 20 people are like, you need to cash out. Guys are mental

midget. He can't handle it. Like, it'll get too much pressure and he'll fold. I personally just didn't like that. Because Wyndham Clark a friend of the locker room. You took that personally. I took that personally for him. Because one of the worst things you could be called as an athlete is someone who doesn't handle adversity or mental adversity well.

You do never want to be that guy. So up by six, people are reaching out to me being like chat, GBT has told, has looked at all the stats. Anybody who's leading by five or more, five strokes has an 80% chance of winning. Obviously, it only goes up from there. He's at the third largest lead in this specific courses history. It was Roy McElroy and Tiger Woods. Roy was minus six going in the final day and Tiger was like minus eight going in the final day.

Both guys ended up winning. So you're at this point. You got the odds. Yeah. And we're in the group chat. And I feel like our group chat, the bust with the boys group chat was very split back and forth too. Like you were you were like, hey, you should probably take it.

Yeah. I'm thinking if you're not thinking about golf, like the way, the fact that you turned a thousand into 12,000. Yeah. It's like if you're not even invested in it, you just make $12,000. Just $12,000. Just $12 extra money and move on. Then you won't even, you won't live.

lose any sleep you just back fuck I just got a huge hit and the the reason why I stayed in it was like I didn't want the feeling of going into yesterday afternoon I didn't watch any piece of golf other than his last two putts on the 18th hole 52 it was 52 feet he needed a two putt to get in and he gets it within like less than a foot from the other from the hole on his first pot it's like oh this is over yeah and then who was the second was it scotty sheffler and sam burns because sam burns kind of came out of nowhere it seemed like sheffler was going to be the guy that was going to come and kind of take over. They were paired up together during the day.

And Clark started going downhill a little bit. He was like plus three on the day. Bernsey went up two or three. So they're neck and neck for a little bit where I'm like, I'm not watching golf, but I'm watching my Fandual Cash Out app quite a bit. And that little boy was fluctuating. It was going, I think he got as high as $15,000 and is low, like back down to six.

Where I'm like, I see it at six and I'm like, what the hell is going on? he just responds to me, not good. And there was a specific hole where he's like on the 11th, that's a par three. And it's like you have to essentially make it on the green. And if you miss the green left or right, like you're like you're done. You're essentially in a drop situation because it rolls off the green. One side's like water and the other side is like really high bushes.

You're not getting the ball out of there. You'd rather take a drop than just hacking at it a few times. And apparently he just put that boy up there and landed like five feet. from the pen and it was like we're in a good spot now so overall fun day fun day great father's day for me great fathers day that took place it was awesome so I might just take a couple shekels and put it on USA huh might as well there also I saw a video uh say if we did if we were to win the world cup or maybe if we get to play England and beat them somebody was saying why is it that we speak English we need to say that we speak American I'm clean

That's another clean take. That is a clean take right there. That is a clean thing. Makes more sense. And they do use different words than us. Yeah, they spell words different too. Like center. C-E-N-T-R-E.

What are we doing out here, dude? Canada's the same thing. Canada doesn't say Z, they say Z. It's like, that's a word. That's possibly a name. Z. So for a letter they say Z. Yes.

The name of a DJ. Yeah. X-Y-Z. Really? Yeah. Fascinating. I know. Fascinating.

But I like that take, clean take. That is a clean take. I have a question for you, William. I know I saw on the bird that Nebraska like changed their uniforms up. Yes. A big change is taking place in the uniform category. And I watched like the video of them doing the hype. They're walking through.

They're hitting the horseshoe and all that. And they're like kind of showing off the Adidas and the stripes on the shoulders. And maybe like the textures taking place on the number. Yeah. But then I look at it, I'm like, I don't think anything changed. I don't think. Mitch had a photo up. Keep it on that photo, Mitch.

Where was the quadrant? The little quad. He had a quadrant. There it is. Yeah. Pull that up from me. Let me see that thing. So that's what's changed.

The stripes went from the side of the shoulder pads. They put stripes on top of the shoulder pads. And then on the pants, it's not a double stripe all the way up the pants. They just got a little thinner double stripe going halfway up. That's the big change. And they remove the patch. The number font, I guess, is different as well. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's true.

The number font has a texture to it, like a leather texture, right? Because I remember when I watched a video, it was like showing it. It was like, oh, it seems like. Yeah, they have some detail of the cornfields going into where it's kind of like striped down, like in the detail of the number, but the font of the number change as well. And they removed the winning tradition patch, which has been a big, that's been a big topic of Nebraska fans as they saw the release of this jersey. the release of the jersey.

I do agree with that. I kind of hate how they remove the patch and it's like a patch where it says like winning tradition. They now have winning tradition stitched in the back of the collar. That's always fun. I like when people do that.

Overall, look, it doesn't matter. You got to win football games if it's going to be cool. Like everyone, you know, clean take people love hating on Nebraska football because we haven't won shit over the last decade.

And we win off seasons. Our production team is awesome. Another move that I was talking with the club about I was, that I agree with too. It's like we have this incredible production team. Like Nebraska does a really good job highlighting their sports, making content for their sports, especially the football team.

They had this badass video. They waited until Friday night to do this release. You do the top of the week. You're going to get hate. You're going to get people talking about it no matter what. It does seem like the consensus. People are on board with it. Some people hate it.

Like to me, it doesn't matter. If the kids, if the players like it, then it's going to be sick to me. Like I because me you look at those jerseys where you see on the left side I like those jerseys I like the more the blocky letters I love the detail of the cornfields inside of the letters yeah that's fun but I like the stripes on the side I like the stripes going down the pants but I could just be being like a boomer I could be just being more of an old generation guy who wants to say the same I want to embrace this change I'm going to the only thing that I wish that they did is they kept the patch on the jersey and what did the patch say

because we don't, Nebraska doesn't do that. And we were going to wear different jerseys or an alternate. The whole locker was fired up. But then when you see the jersey, we're fired up about the all-black helmets, but the jersey itself,

that we bought. We got a bunch of cards my kids were there, wife was there, their friends were there like we just had a great time. How was old Chris? I already had to flip. He had to flip his way up to dude. He did it. $1,200. Go from $100 or $1,200 or $1,200. Yeah, so I gave Chris and a couple of the interns $100.

And I was like, your goal today, you have one goal. And that is to turn this into a $1,000 card, turn into a thousand dollar card. So they went, sorry, Hickley. They just kept coming back to me with a bunch of Taylor-Lawand cards. And I'm like, guys, these are like $15 cards. Like, you're actually losing money by acquiring my cards. And then they got a hold of some Camo Pants guy who was like a fan. He's been on the show.

I've met him a couple times. He was giving them game on how to elevate their trading, like how they go about the training process with some of these people, ends up going. going down to a coin flip with a C&J's cards and collectibles, a friend of our show, when we picked the cards. They ended up winning that coin flip. And after the boys were so stoked, I gave the, I gave C&J their card back. I was like, hey, I appreciate you guys.

My goal for them was just to be able to elevate enough. They did what they were supposed to do. But we don't want to take $500 away from you guys. Because it ended up being a $500 flip, which was awesome. Good to win a coin flip too. Yeah, because we got fucking rolled this review. I probably lost $4,000 in coin flips. I was just getting murdered.

And just flipping the coin heads or tails? Yeah, like Tailing found this card that was like, I think he did was selling it for like 4,500 or something like that or 4,000. It was a sick card. And there was like the pop on it. Like the population of that card in a 10 was only like, it was less than 100. So the card has a high chance of being much more valuable as it goes on the road because there's so few of them.

And I try to get it to like a, I think it was like $5,000 or $3,000 coin flip, loose. So that's a thousand bucks right there. went to do packs lost those two one dude had a heavy pack where you could pull a Lugia first edition in it and he's like yeah this is a this is a guaranteed heavy blah blah it was like 750 I go would you do 1500 or zero and he's like yeah I'll do that right now $1,500 lost they were going nuts when the coin flip lost too and then that pack was an absolute dud there was not even a hollow in the pack and the guy the guy goes to give me my money back and he's like dude I feel so bad I go that's exactly what I want I want you to be sad

I want you to feel really bad about what just happened because I feel like to you and then we laughed and walked away. He came back with a stack of packs for us. A couple that you could get some banged or hits in it. Got banked, but still an awesome time, dude. That's awesome.

The coolest card we got was that Kaiju Cam Ward, bro. That card, if the Titans ever win the Super Bowl, which obviously, you know, we think they will. That card could be, is going to be worth $100,000 to $300,000. Bro, this, so, yeah, pull this card up right here. Is this it?

Because again, with the intro, everything else, like looking at your career and seeing you reignite in Minnesota, like you were on bus with the boys back in 2022 and having the quote of being like, you know who you are, you're confident in your ability, you know you're a good quarterback in this league. And that was when you were going into your final year with Carolina. Then after Carolina, you go and take a backup job with the 49ers.

So again, you even had a couple more years of kind of living in that I still know who I am. I know if I just get with the right team, it's going to be all good. What does it feel like for you now looking back, knowing you kind of went through all that adversity? That's right. Yeah, I think like my dad used to tell me all the time and it's kind of a cliche, but like everything happens for a reason. And I always believe that. I always believe like at some point my hard work would pay off. Didn't know how it was going to pay off.

I didn't know if, you know, if, you know, I wouldn't have the career that I thought I would have in the NFL and then you know somehow that would pay off being a dad being a husband you know it's it's it's just when you have that mindset and really from from my point of view it's like being raised the right way like having great parents having a great older sister to be able to lead the way for me like that's really that that was the reason why I had that mindset it wasn't because like oh I I know this is going to help me get to where I want to get to on the field it was just like that's just all I knew. That's all I know. So I think that's a huge reason why I've kind of had that mindset. But yeah, I was just going to continue to take every opportunity as it came and understanding that like not with the mindset of like, oh, I got to take advantage of this opportunity.

You know what I mean? Because everyone says that. But it's like understanding, okay, the opportunity's here. I just got to do my job and do everything I can to just be great and be. be the person that I know I can be, be the player I know I can be. And that was really it. It wasn't like, you know, overthinking it or being like, oh, this is my opportunity.

I got to take advantage of it, you know. Yeah. When you're sitting there and you're in Carolina and then you're going through the free agency process and you figure out, okay, I'm going to go to San Francisco and I'm going to be a backup in the lead for the first time. And I'm assuming since before even high school

that you're going to be a backup. Right. What is that conversation like with your agent? What's it like with your family, with your wife? And then with yourself in the mirror, as well because we all have like we always play the game at our head when we're going to sleep at night and we're dreaming about how it ends or how our careers go and we feel like we're writing our own story yeah and clearly none of us have written our story like be a backup for a few years and figure it out right so like you're essentially having to have an ego death going back to the state you grew up in a lot more people have access to you again and you went from this guy being the third overall pick to well now he's a backup so how how was that for you in that that off season yeah I think I think for me it was like just like you mentioned, it was kind of like looking myself in the mirror and just being like, all right, this is what I need to do this year.

You know, I'm not going to get an opportunity to be a starter. And I think going to San Francisco, I mean, shoot, you guys saw what Mack Jones did this year. Like I just, I understood that like quarterbacks in that system, quarterbacks with Kyle. You look at Brock, all the success that he's had there. Like quarterbacks just thrive in that system. And it's also because they have really good players, but just getting to know that system and getting to know those coaches. Like that's really why I decided to be a backup in San Francisco. I thought that would be the best place to just go.

And people say it all the time and I've heard it. But like I feel like I got my Ph.D. in football when I went to San Francisco. And that was such a blessing for me to just be able to learn from Kyle, Brian Greasy, the Kubiaks, Clay and Clint. Just such a great coaching staff. and then to be able to not only learn from Brock. I've talked about learning from Brock quite a bit, but like all the great players that are over there in front of the program, George Kittal, Fred Warner, Chris McCaffery.

Like you got all those Trent Williams, of course. Yeah, you just have all these studs that are over there and to like learn some of their habits and like stuff that they do in the offseason, how they get better. Like it was just such a great opportunity for me to just go there and be a sponge and just learn.

so much football, learn about how to take care of my body off the field. And again, can't mention Brock enough, but just the way that he prepared really showed me, like, how to really prepare because, you know, you don't know what you don't know. And I think for me, like, being able to go there and see, like, how efficient he was. Because, like, you can put a ton of time in, but you could be doing it the wrong way. And he was so efficient with his time. And he would cut out three or four hours of like studying throughout the night because that our game plans were were crazy our game plans are crazy with all the run cans run to pass pass to run run to run like all these different cans and uh the system is is so intricate and but that was so fun it was so fun to let go learn football there

and i'm so thankful uh for that opportunity that i got in san francisco from from a leadership standpoint are you sitting there and having to consciously take a step back knowing that are this is brock's team right now. I am the backup in this situation. Is there a, I guess, a learning curve for you to get to figure out you're sitting in a different seat essentially of this team? Yeah, for sure. I think, I think for me, like going into it, right? Like, that was right after the NFC championship, Brock heard his elbow against the Eagles. And so I was kind of going in like, okay, maybe Brock might miss the first two or three weeks of the season. I might have a chance to go in and play, potentially

play good football and continue to build that resume for the next chapter in my football career. And so that was kind of the mindset going in. And then Brock obviously has a really good rehab process and he's ready for the season. I end up not playing meaningful downs, which was great. I ended up learning a ton. But the mindset going in was like, oh, I could potentially play. That was another reason why I went there. You're kind of hoping he's lazy with his rehab.

Yeah, exactly. Yeah. I told him all right. Lazy to miss like the first couple of weeks. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I would like, you know, kind of put in his ear a little bit like, dude, I don't think you need to do this today. Yeah, he don't rush it.

Just take a day off, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. No, but Brock's the man. I learned a ton from him and Brandon Allen as well. Brandon Allen helped me a ton throughout that season, so. Dude, I'm fired up to ask this question right here because we had Coach McVeyon. Like, I was around Shanahan when he was young. But having Coach McVeyon, he speaks so highly of Coach Shanahan.

And since you've been from the Jets, an organization like Carolina, you got to taste it with the 49ers, even as a backup role too. Like as a vet in a backup, you almost have a different observation of seeing how a franchise runs and operates compared to where you've been in the past, where you were the man. Then you also, you've been with the Vikings and now Seattle. But what about San Francisco do you feel like you learn so much to where you're sitting back in the backup role, like in the rooms and be like, this organization, this staff, like, has it figured out? That's right. Yeah, I think to your point, yeah, I didn't even think about that, but you do have a little bit of a wider lens when you're backup because you're not necessarily as stressed, right? You're going through every week. You're like, I got to know what I got to do. You know, got into the playbook.

Got to know, you know, if I go in there, what plays they're going to call and all those things. But you do kind of get to, you know, see things and notice things throughout the season. And just that staff, man, I think I think the main thing that I learned was just there was an answer for everything. Like if one play didn't have an answer for a certain scheme that the defense ran, it was. like that play can't be in or if that play is in we got to have a can for it if they do bring this pressure or they have this coverage so i think that was one thing that i learned was like it was it was going through every single play um with a fine tooth comb and it was so so great to see that for me because i was like oh man they're they're literally looking at everything that this defense does if

they ran one pressure and it could have been a bus by the defense like if they ran one pressure on week one and they haven't shown it all year and it's week 10 but we don't have an answer for it like we're probably not going to run that play and so just the level of detail that they had every single week was absolutely incredible jesus me out it's crazy because that whole tree of all those guys it just seems like they just operated like a much higher frequency than the rest of the NFL from an office standpoint yeah it's that it's that it's that I feel like it's that system too like that West Coast like there's just with the protections like the the play action protections the run game like there's rules for everything and the players know it too like if if something

is going to break a rule or you say something in a meeting that isn't quite aligned with how we installed it in training camp then the players are going to be like whoa whoa we can't do that because it's breaking one of the rules whether it's in the run game or protection now you know routes you can get crazy with the routes and they do from from week to week but yeah i think like starting with the run game and the protection you know we could spend this whole podcast talking about football by the way um this is great and i know you're just talking about it but it's it's so fun man to talk about this especially like learning from a guy like kyle um and like i mentioned greasy and the kubiaks um and then being able to learn from kio as well in minnesota like i've i feel like i've learned a ton of

good football and i'm so grateful for that yeah because i know with my experience whenever i came to Tennessee and I had like my practice squad year Mike Shanahan was the head coach so I didn't really have much experience with him but having Jay Gruden as the head coach and then going to Tennessee when I was sitting back and seeing the way Vrable would run team meetings every morning and talk about here's how we're going to win the game and the why of how we're going to win the game and then you're kind of like you know you're not resistant to it at first but you're kind of questioning like oh is this you know how is this going to play out and then when you see it play out the whys and here's how we're going to adapt and the

the detail behind everything. And then when you lose, he's showing you, we talked all last week about these three keys. And then he's showing you plays of the keys that we did not execute. And you end up losing. And then when you win, he's showing you, here's how we won this game

and here's how we're gonna win this next week. And how it all comes together, you're like, oh damn, like this dude from a head coaching perspective from running team meetings has this element kind of figured out different than other head coaches that I've played for. That's right. And I feel like, yeah, head coaches that are

really good at that. I feel like just, you know, locker rooms gravitate towards them. Because as athletes, you know, we like to think that we're pretty smart. And there's some smart athletes out there. But like, we're groomed a young age to like, you know, figure out the why. Like, why am I doing this? Okay, coach said we're doing it because of this. Okay, I'm good. I can go. But if as a coach, you can't explain like why we're doing something, then that's, I feel like that's where you kind of start to lose the locker room a little bit or you lose the offense or the defense. It's like I think a coach that is really good at explaining like why we're doing things and like why we're doing a game plan a certain way.

Like that's, I think that's a secret sauce for a coach that can really figure that out. And the good ones kind of always do week to week. You know. Or here why in this situation, why we're going to bend our rule a little bit. And then they show you what the team's doing to where everybody's like, okay, I get, I get exactly why we're going to be doing this versus being like, oh, we don't, I don't drop in this hook area on this coverage. Why, why am I doing that?

Exactly. But when they break down the tendencies and everything else, here's how this rule is going to look a little bit different this week. Yeah. I love that. Yeah. Let's just talk ball. Do a little bit of ball.

Yeah, we can talk defense too. Like hook, hook coverage, you know, get dropping in the hook, hook to flat. Yeah. Like what keeps you going to the flat or keeps you in the hook?

You got to see one of the best doing it with Fred Warner. No doubt. You guys in Seattle have a hell of a linebacker room. Yeah. Yeah, we do. It's every single week watching those guys work. And I will say too, like we always say it in our building, but like loose and focused, like our group is just, they are so like during practice, like you see them laughing joking around when they're not in.

And then once they get in, it's like a switch is flipped. And they're just like, we're rolling. And I think that's so powerful to have a group that's, you know, because sometimes you get guys that like mess around during the breaks of practice. And then you get one guy that can lock in. And then the other guy who's like still kind of in that mode. So kind of in the jokey mode. And he's like in there practicing and like kind of, you know, fucking up a little bit.

But like for everybody on our defense and our offense to like be able to joke around during practice or not joke around. I think that's like kind of a bad way to say it. But like to be messing around during practice like and then all of a sudden everybody's locked in to doing their job. And if they don't do their job, they're pissed about it. Like to have a group that is all on the same page doing that.

man it's a special group it's fun to be a part of yeah it's it's a it's a cliche of like inside the lines like you when you're sitting on the sideline you're out for a little bit guys be able to like kind of switch off for a moment and have a little bit of fun but then getting right back into it like that's like that's like a learned trait that a lot of guys have how is how is a McDonald how does he handle the culture of that like does he get on guys when they're like hey they're not locking in younger guy comes in he sees the vets they're joking around the sideline so they think it's okay to joke all the time he's getting nip nipped in the bud Yeah, he's, he is like, I would say he like wants us to be that way.

He wants us to be joking around and laughing. But like he knows once we're in football. And I think this is another thing to like having, we call it like our leadership committee. But it's everyone, you know, whether it's quarterback, tight end, running back, like every position room has a guy that is in our leadership committee. And we meet almost every week. and those meetings are so fun, like to be a part of with Mike and just like what he expects us to be like. And he loves when we're like messing around, joking around, but he expects us like once we're locked into football or once we're talking about football, installing, you know, when we're on the practice field, like he expects us to be locked in. And if we're not, then he might, he might reel us in a little bit, but he expects us the players to be able to reel guys in.

and that's when like if we don't do that as leaders then he'll come to us and be like hey guys like we're a little too loose at practice like we got to lock into these situations and I don't know I think he just does such a great job he's got such a great feel for the locker room and for the guys and I think that's that's his biggest trait one of his one of his biggest traits you know obviously he's a really really good defensive coordinator but you know his ability to just kind of feel out the locker room and feel kind of the vibe, you know, because I'm sure you guys have been around coaches that aren't necessarily great at, you know, feeling the vibe.

Oh, yeah. Yeah. It's, again, a team meeting and they're all happy, jovial. And, you know, it's like, coach, we just lost by like 20 point. Like, what are you? What are you laughing at joking? I had the opposite. We win by 21 points.

And the guy being there, but you guys fucking sucked this weekend. And it's like, oh, Jesus. Well, that's a typical. That's a college approach, though. I hate that. There's so much. Say, hey, let the boys, it's a long season. Let's have a little bit of fun.

Yeah, but that's what Mike would do, right? It's like we get up there. We do this like shadow box thing. We like hang out with the guys. We have, you know, he gets there, you know, one of the other assistant coaches, Nico Thorpe gets up there and like run some of the team meeting and run some like competition stuff that we do at the beginning of the meeting.

And then everyone's hooting and holler in. And then once we're done, we're done. And it's like football. We got to lock in. And that's like Mondays and Wednesdays for us. What's a trait, behavior or mannerism that you, that people busts Coach McDonald's balls for?

Oh man, I would just say his awkwardness. Okay. It's like sometimes. And he would be the first one to admit it. Just, you know, just the, sometimes like in a team meeting,

like you can see that he's like thinking about something. And as players, like we love it when he does it because we're like, oh, like he's thinking, he's about to like give us something that we really need.

But like it's taking him a little bit to kind of, Because he knows exactly what it is. He just is trying to figure out like how to verbalize it in front of the group. And man, he is, he's just the best because he's like, he is so authentic to who he is. And he's never going to like try to change for anybody. And I think, you know, as players, like as adults too in the NFL, like you appreciate a coach like that. Like you appreciate a guy that's just like real.

And he's just going to keep it real in front of everybody and truly be himself. And he expects us to like if he's not being him like. He expects us to calm out on it, you know. So he's a great guy. But yeah, I think his best trait is, or his funniest trait, I should say, is just kind of how he is in front of the group. I think it's amazing. He's trying to figure it out.

Like, oh, sure, here he goes. He does, yeah. He's thinking something here. He's going to drop a bomb on us in a several. Yeah. And then when he thinks, and then it's like not as good as you would hope, it's like, oh, come on, coach. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

You have that one in the bag. Exactly. You had us right here. You just said, you had to bring it home a little bit. Yeah. No, he's great, though. Was it, uh, did you go to your thought process at all when you're going from Minnesota and you've been to two offensive minded head coaches?

And then you're looking at Seattle. I'm sure there's a lot of other options as well, but this is a head coach with a defensive background. Did that like make you a little nervous at any point in the free agency? Um, not really, to be honest. Um, I was really just looking at, you know, the best. How you get paid. Yeah, the most bad.

Yeah. That's right. Yeah. Not really, man. To be honest, it was like whoever signed the biggest checks. It was, in my eyes, it was, okay, like, obviously you want short-term success. You want to be able to go there and win. But also kind of looking at long-term, you know, which was kind of the secondary thought, but,

you know, obviously short-term and then long-term. It was like, dude, we got a great defense. Like I played against them when I was in Minnesota. And I was like, dang, dude, this defense is so good, like, like, so much. raw talent and just the scheme that we were going against. I felt like the scheme was really tough. And then, you know, to be able to have Clint Kubiak knowing that he was going to be the offensive coordinator, knowing that we were together in San Francisco, knowing it was going to be that West Coast system, man, that was really the draw too. And then a lot of the skill players

that we had, right? I mean, like Kenneth Walker, you know, Jackson, Smith and Jigba. You know, this was actually before we signed Coop, but Adam Cooper Cup was huge too. But then even the tight end room, like, you know, AJ Barner, like, that dude is, he's one of my favorite, favorite people on the planet. And he's a, he's an incredible person. I'm sure he would love, he would love to have a chat with the boys. But he is, uh, got to get him on. He's incredible. We've been around the boy a few times.

Yeah. Yeah, he's, he's the best, man. But anyways, yeah, just, I think AJ's, AJ's actually a great example of, like, what we are as a team. Like, he is, he is, like, just a football guy, man. He really like doesn't care about anything else. He just wants to like continue to get better at football. Like it is almost to a fault. It's,

it's pretty awesome to be around. But man, it's a fun team to be around. And, you know, I think I kind of had that feeling too. You know, when I decided to sign with Seattle,

I was like, right when I got in the building, I was like, oh, dude, like this place is great. Like, you know, everyone is,

no one's like really tight. I know that, you know, that, that was kind of, the thing, I feel like, right? Like 10, 15 years ago maybe, you know, before I got in the NFL, it was like,

you know, not necessarily tight, but, you know, you talk about like the Belichick way. I know you're with Vrabel early on in Tennessee. He was a monster. You know, Flores in Miami. You'd be tight walking in that. But you walked, 2018, when Rable walked in the bill, like, when he was took over, it was like,

assholes were puckered. Yeah, I kind of hate it playing. Yeah. We kind of hate it playing at that point anyway, but Rable made it that much worse, man. Which, like, there's there's an aspect of that that can be good you know there there's an aspect of it like where you know you you're a little tight and you know it's like oh shoot like I need to be on my game

every single day I walk into this building but we know that and it doesn't necessarily need to be tight all the time like when you're walking around the building you shouldn't be like nervous that you're going to see a coach you know what I mean so just to be able to have that combination of you know that what we say like loose and focus but like just to be able to be loose around, you know, a guy like John Schneider. You know, you see the GM in the hallway. A lot of guys would get tight. It's like, no, that's a great dude

that you just want to hang out with. You know what I mean? And so I think just having that vibe, like right when I got there, when I decided to sign there, it was a great feeling. So just to be clear, that image that Mitch just had up a second ago,

that one, that had nothing to do with it. You're looking for the best opportunity. I mean, dude, like, it had something to do. That's kind of nuts. Yeah, it's got something to do with it. What was the, bro, is what was the, What was the feeling and the juice like coming into your body? Like the years of adversity, the years of like learns being labeled as a bust, like all these things.

Even with Minnesota, JJ got hurt and you got to play that year. And then you got to win 14 games. And then you hit the lick of you signed a $300 million deal. Like at what moment did you ever take a moment to where you're like, fuck? Yeah, there was a moment. There was a moment. You know, right when I, to be honest, like right when my agent called me and he told me that was the offer. And then there was, you know, a couple, couple others where I was kind of thinking about, okay, do I want to go there or or Seattle?

It was, it was surreal, man, to be able to, you know, have those champagne problems of like, oh, you know, I got some multi-year deals to be able to go where I want. Like, it's incredible. But again, there is that. Thanks, man. Yeah. It is sick. And you're doing, you're doing a great job. There is that thing though.

I also don't feel bad because you were a first round pick, but then, but thinking of the whole picture. That's old CBA, that's new CBA. No doubt. No doubt. Speaking to that, it's only like 20 mil. We had our like first little rookie show, you know, right before we ended mini camp. We all went to dinner and had like a rookie show. And, you know, you get guys saying there's obviously like name school signing bonus.

We got guys saying name school signing bonus and what they made in NIL. Did the NIL stuff. What have you heard? What have you heard? We got to know that. One of the kids will be like... Because these kids won't tell us. One of the kids will be like, oh, my name's da-da-da.

Went here and they're like, oh, I've, you know, got a $20,000 signing bonus. And we're like, NIL, NIL. And he's like, 800,000 NIL. And you're like... And that fucking nuts. Dude, what? They're taking a bank cut to play in the league. That is insane.

That's what I said. You want to chase your dream is going to cost you. Literally cost you money. I was like, dude, I would do the same thing. Some of these kids are, I would try to play seven or eight years in college. Go find the local judge. Don't give me another one. Exactly.

Hey. Will and I have to looking for our COVID year. Yeah, we're trying to come back. Yeah. Go back to college for a minute. It is fucking wild. Yeah. Brennan Whedon.

Yeah, he's a 26 year old rookie. Yeah, that's right. Just nuts. But hey, when you're getting that calling, your agent's like, hey, Seattle, we got them. Oh, when you hang on the phone. A hundred million dollar contract three years. And you're like, yeah, okay, all right.

All right. And you're trying to play it cool. Who's the first person you're talking to? Who you call him being like, guess what? Nine figures? In the bag, dude. You have a phone number? My bank account is a phone number.

Not to be corny, but probably my parents, man. Yeah. To be able to tell my parents that, like, it was a pretty special moment. You know, and again, like, there is a point where it's like, yeah, I signed this great contract and it's awesome. But then it's like, now you got this next chapter of like, oh, now you signed a deal. Like, you got to go perform now. And it's like, so like now that's the next step. And then, you know, after this year, you win a Super Bowl.

and it's like, okay, well, you know, you got to defend it. You know, how are you going to match that year that you just had? And it's like, God, can we not just like, yeah. Can we have to the Super Bowl party? Should we just stop doing football and we just have to. But it's great. We'll be the last ones to win. It's great, dude.

Like, that's what keeps you going. I feel like that's what, you know, a guy like Tom Brady, right? You think about like, dude, like you've won all these Super Bowl. Like, why not just call it quits? Like, why do you go to Tampa Bay? And it's like, shoot, you look at him winning a Super Bowl in Tampa Bay. but it's like that there's that chase of like that never ends you know what I mean you're never satisfied of like oh like we won the Super Bowl now like I don't need to really

train that hard like you know what I mean it's like no like I you know took a two week two week break after I was done with the Super Bowl and then I got back on the bike and started some cardio stuff like weight training but it was like dude it was great to like get back into training you know what I mean because like everyone talks about like oh what was the best part about winning the Super Bowl. Like, when did it like really sink in? It's like, it never really like hits you. Like there's never like this moment where you're like, oh, that was awesome. Not even when the clock strikes zero and the confetti's coming down.

Dude, like, you're hugging, you're hugging Barner and be like, we fucking get it. You guys are crying. That was great. It probably did, but it probably didn't hit you the way that you might have assumed. No, you're just like, dude. Too many good movies out. That's the fucking problem. The other thing, too, man.

That's right. You're like, oh, I guess we fucking won. Yeah. But dude, the other thing. That's it. That's why I ever chasing my. entire life is this moment. Like, I want to go out there and ball out and it's just like, dang, Like, I didn't play my best football in the Super Bowl. Like, that sucks. And you kind of still want to punish yourself by just going through meetings next week. But nobody cares anyone because you're all right, yeah, I guess.

Have you watched the film back? Have you watched Super Bowl film? Yeah. And what, what throw in that game are you like? Everybody's out getting, getting blacked out. And he's just back in his room, just watching the day. The parade's going on. He's got the iPad.

How'd I fucking missed that throw? Like, I just recently, like, it was, it was probably like, you know, right before OTAs, I watched it. But, but it was really like knowing that. the coaches are probably going to bring up the tape. So I was like, I should probably watch this. Yeah, be prepared. Be prepared. Be prepared.

But, dude, yeah, it was, there were a couple throws. There were a few, actually. But just there was one early to Jacks when I, it was a third down. We were beaten protection. So I had to kind of scramble, make a play. And Jacks was wide open. It was a tough little throw. I had to put some touch on it.

But just overthrew him a little bit. It would have been a touchdown. There was, they played zero in the fourth quarter. I had Sheed. We actually had it blocked up. It was like blockable zero and had a big post to Sheed and I just overthrew them to to juiced up, you know? And then there was an out route on the right side to Coupe.

I think it was in the third quarter maybe. But again, it was against zero coverage and it was an easy out route and just missed it. And it was like, dude, like, how am I going to miss these throws right now? Yeah. Are you kidding me? In the moment are you thinking, what a fucking. how do I miss that? Are you like, hey, we'll get,

you're in the next play mentality kind of mode? No, right away, it's like, how the fuck did I miss that? Yeah. Is this? Are we reliving this? No, no. Dude, she's massive move midseason to get, uh, she, oh my gosh.

And well, you know, it was a bummer of what happened to Tori Horton, right? Because Tori was bawling out. He had a great game against the commanders. And then literally that next week, he's, you know, um, he's got some like shin stuff he's dealing with and he's out for the season. So we were like, dang.

And Tori's are kind of our speed guy. and he was taking back some punts early on in the season. And so we didn't really, you're like, dang, like, you know, we still got guys that can kind of take the top off, but, like, we need a real speed guy. Like, to be able to see, like, the returns that he had, punt, kick returns, the big plays that he made on offense. Like, there were a couple plays against the Colts that he made in a two-minute drive, that won us that game. Like he was, and then just like him as a person, like coming into our culture.

But, like, I think the dream as a player is, like, you want to stay with the same franchise for your whole career. maybe maybe not but at least that's what I was kind of thinking no I can like even if we were trash in New York like I wanted to go and make it right like I wanted to go you know win Super Super Bowls in New York with the Jets and like obviously that that didn't happen it wasn't in the stars for me but like that's what I wanted you know that was the dream and so I think there's a little bit of that maybe that's just me though I don't know I think everybody wants to like I mean it's just like high school you pretty much play for the same team yeah unless you transfer like I and then you go to before NIL.

I would actually could call it. I would have guessed that. Did I transfer? Yeah, I would have guessed that. I'm a loyal cat, man. I'm a loyal dog. My dad made me move. Best move I ever made my entire life.

But NIL, before that, it's like you pick a school. You're sticking it through no matter what. So in 22 when I signed an extension like, you never got to a free agency. I never went through the free agency route. I knew when I would have never said this in negotiations because I wanted to like get the highest contract possible. But I would have probably taken less money to stay with the Titans because I am so loyal, Sam.

And I just took those braces off. And never looked back. There he is. There's nothing like it in college walking up around the old line group

Like, you know, there's a little bit of doubt, but it's about like how to quiet that or like how to be able to, I think the belief and the trust that I have in myself outweighs any doubts that I ever have. I think that's the better better way to say it. Because like to sit here and say that I never had a doubt, you know, I'd just be lying to you guys which I would never do that never do that never do that we're too close yeah too much character yeah if there's a how do you how do you how do you when those doubts creeping because you have to believe have belief in yourself but at all at some point there's always like discover like am I who I really think I am how do you

process that and get over those emotions because there's probably some younger athletes listening to this right now watching your journey watching your story being like hell hey that's amazing what he's been able to do that probably have those doubts creeping just like every athlete does yeah and don't know the right path for them to get through it. Yeah, I think first of all, like, knowing that you're having those thoughts and I think something too to be able to say out loud is like everybody has those thoughts, right? Like, you're not the only one that's doubted yourself. And I think to be able to have that doubt, but also like let that kind of fuel your like work and your process. That's what's, that's kind of

what happened with me. Like it's, I don't necessarily need more fuel to work harder, but like to have, you know, people doubt you, or for even yourself, like for a little bit of doubt to creep in to just allow that to kind of fuel you to be like, all right, like, I'm doubting myself a little bit probably because like I'm not prepared enough. Like I should have worked a little harder and prepared a little bit more for that Lions game or that Rams game to, to put myself in a better position to to go out there and play well. And so I think understanding like why, like understanding why the doubts creeping into your brain is like the number one thing you got to figure out, which I think is really tough to your point. Like it's tough to figure out like why I'm having these thoughts about it.

So I think sitting down like having those like I mentioned earlier like having those tough conversations with yourself to be like, all right, like, why am I thinking this way? And to like better understand that, I think you kind of get to the root of it and you can figure it out pretty quick from there. Start one, bench one, cut one. Kubiak, O'Connell, Shanahan. that guy to just be able to bounce things off of like again like we just talked about like when you start having those doubts like to be able to voice that to a guy like Kirk and a guy who has lived it and has had people doubt him in the past he's probably doubted himself at some point like to be able to have that as a young player is you know so valuable so valuable but yeah I think Clint's going to be great he's got such a I think the biggest thing is like as a head coach you got to have a level head on your shoulders. You got to, you got to be able to like, okay, something goes wrong. Like he's never going to like overreact to anything, you know, he's going to keep it steady. And I think for for the players, like that's such, that's such a blessing to be able to have a guy

who's leading you, be able to have that mindset and be able to have like that level head is incredible, man. I think he's going to do a really good job. And his system's incredible, his offensive system. And I think they're continuing to find the right players to be out there. So it's been a hell of a duo in the QB room. Yeah. Though Kirkland's and Mendoza. Yeah.

That stepbrother thing they did was pretty incredible. What could we expect from Sam Donald in 2026? Yeah, Brian Fleury. Running forward? Flurry's been great. Yeah, I think the biggest thing is just like continuing to build off of my weaknesses, understanding like what I wasn't great at this past year, which I think for me is just like, you know, continuing to hone in on the deep ball, like understand like how I can get better

that way, quieting my feet in the pocket. I feel like, you know, I'm a little twitchier. And so sometimes that kind of wants to creep in a little bit when I'm in the pocket. So like being able to calm those feet down, just go through my progressions. But I think another area to grow is just like the turnovers. I thought I had too many turnovers last year. So just can, continuing to like, kind of like I did in the playoffs, but just like continuing to have the right mindset on like first and second down. Keep the big boys happy and get the ball to my hands. Like that's a huge, huge part of being a quarterback is like understanding what issues you have up front. You know, like understanding like the past rush and are they rushing five or like got to get the ball out of my hands.

Being able to get to the checkdowns earlier, like just little things like that, I think are key to be able to focus on as a quarterback. back and but again like I'm still growing continuing to learn like how to great OTAs had a great mini camp so just got to keep stacking man keep stacking good days and and you know I think that one of the bigger things too that I've learned like just not getting too ahead of yourself you know because you can think about the season and what's ahead and what you need to do to get to that next step but it's like just take it one day at a time you know one thing that you can kind of look a little bit forward to. A lot of news took place last week about the LA Rams and the new acquisition of Miles Garrett. Kind of fucking terrifying, right? He's a really good player. He's a really good ball player.

So I think being able to just like continuously like communicate with each other on on how we can get, you know, the offense to where we want it to to be. You know, that's a is this your sixth coordinator?

you know, what people assume it to be? Yeah, well, this is easier because it's the same system. Right. So like, it's easier to kind of transition

But there was a little bit more learning to do. Like I kind of had to relearn that San Francisco terminology because at the end of the day, right, it's like just learning a different language. So it's a it's fun to be honest like I love that part of football like being able to learn a system and learn the ins and outs of different concepts and why coaches like certain concepts. Like if you're going to throw a new concept at me, like I got to understand like why you like it and you got to show me clips of like why it works and then I can get on board. You know what I mean? But I'm not, you know, I don't I'm not going to be like, oh, you know, I'm good running this play.

if I haven't seen it work on film or seen another quarterback consistently, you know, have success with it. So it's been great, though. It's been a great learning experience with Flurry. Like he's taught me so much about just his system and what they did, like I said, like the last couple years in San Francisco. Yeah. You love nerd not over some ball.

Which is usually why I back away. But once I bought in, dude, It's an all time show. It is. I'm one of the few people that sit on season eight and go. That's a good season. Yeah. Also, this is your first time kind of saying season eight's a good season.

I thought we've broken it down a few times. I know we broke down like certain episodes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They definitely, you can tell they rushed. Yeah, things are rushed. Yeah, things are, things are an abomination of a season. There are things that could have been done better. Compared to the others for sure.

You can't see shit. And you have, for seven seasons, it's been this world of the main characters. I mean, obviously, main characters have shifted.

But you've just learned about the white walkers and the night king. And John Snow and the white, like all of it coming to a head, right? Yes. And those moments of Aria

making the kill the way that she comes out of nowhere and staves. and when John Snow's on the ground with a dragon, it just didn't feel right. And the fact that the Night King and John Snow never had like a true moment. Yeah.

And they kind of just skim through it. It was just a bummer to me. Do you know, so you sound like, you know what you're talking about. Have you, like, read the books or do you know how the book? I have not read the books. Do you know, like, the books ending? Because I don't.

I do not. Okay. They didn't finish the books. Yeah, they didn't finish them. And like that's why it was Hollywood. So it's kind of up to interpretation. Yeah, season five is when the books end or season six. Did you watch?

Thrones kind of in succession? Yeah, I did. Like you did, did you have the two and a half year wait between season seven and season eight? I was, I binged it. See, that's what I think it's where I was the same way.

So it feels like because the people had to wait two and a half years, I can understand why they got to the massive letdown disappointment because you get to play the game at the lunch table for years of being like, this could happen. What about this?

This storyline. Oh, we forgot about this person. What if they come in? For us, we just sit there and we're like, Season 8 start, man. Let's see how it goes. Exactly.

Yeah. He was going to get after it. Yeah. And the way Jamie Lanister went out with Searcy and Tyrion's a little punk-ass. I'd be like, brand the broken out of all stories. And it's like, we're just going to send John Snow off. Like there's just no, I had the last couple of episodes were terrible. Yeah.

I didn't understand the John Snow hype until John Snow was killed and came back. That John Snow, post-death John Snow. That's my guy. What do you think about him in DeNiris? Like killing, killing her off. What did you think about that? Oh. No, no, no.

They were pointing out a question that's on the thing. But I want to hear the answer. Did you think that was like a cool part of it? Or did you think someone else could have killed her? I wouldn't have cared if they didn't do away with John Snow, the way that they did away with them, how they kind of exiled them from everything. Can't have, do all this, can't do, can't have kids.

everybody that is in that fucking circle, it was because of John Snow. Tyrion, he goes down when Tyrion's in prison. And John Snow gets him out of fucking prison. Then for Tyrion to go up there and talk about Brandon Broken, and they all kind of agree that John Snow's got to go away, that's what pissed me off. Isn't that kind of like the arc of a lot of great superheroes though, right?

Like they kind of get forgotten about a little bit or they get written off as like a bad guy. You know what I mean? They can, but they did it terribly. Yeah. I'm not going to argue with you on that one. He's a very passionate man about his Game of Thrones. Yeah.

He is. Here's what I'll argue is the unsolidist is basically saying we're going to kill John Snow. There's no way he's going to be the king. No one we will not support. We'll fight for that. We'll fight against that. The brand of the broken thing, it's like where else is brand's storyline going to go? He is the best possible leader for how much of a tyrant the last few kings were.

He's a good calm demeanored, keep the peace, has a relationship with the North. while also being able to see and do whatever he liked. So I don't mind that. I didn't love that. Brand ended up being the king just because I didn't care for brand. But I understand from a, if we truly want peace, this is the guy we should go with.

Yeah, sure. If I dive down to just trying to find understanding, yeah. Like, I can understand it. I just think it was poorly done. It was poorly written. Okay. All right. Two and a half fucking year.

Why not finish the books too? You know what I mean? Why are we just going to like? that's a great story, but like, I'm not going to finish that. I think he is finishing the books. He's working on it. Yeah. Okay.

Well, he better get, you better get on it. Yeah, he better get going. And hey, the long night with that big fight between the zombies, I thought it was incredible. Everyone was like, it's too dark, but I know they were recolored it. Someone said that when we were breaking down last time. But I thought it was awesome. It was dark. It was dark.

I remember that. But it also, to me, was like, a great depiction of like, you have zombies. It's, there's true chaos. taking it took time to show like john snow who's like protected his boy his boy sam and all these other people he's looking left and right and seeing all these people essentially being finished and there's no hope for them his only hope is to go and find this knight king to go and try to take it out and end everything i would have like to the white walkers to have one to where they're in uh like a next episode or two because again they were just done it was over all that fucking you were like in north

to fall not like the characters that like stayed alive it's almost like they had to like retreat or get back to Kingsland or whatever it is obviously I retreating against that I know but again the way that the white walkers were just done it's just how I felt about it I don't know if I don't know if I stand with the majority your truth is good enough for me I watched it a long time ago so I don't even know if I can it's so fresh in my mind really it was it was one of those things so I started watching probably in season four so then I was in I was in order with it I was watching like everybody else was yeah so then when season send it season seven ended it was two and a half years of nothing

but the greatest life of theories and wondering what's going to happen of all time. I'm talking like the world bought in. And so when it was finally there, how many episodes, six? Six episodes. Six episodes.

It's all like an hour and a half. Yeah, then you learn that it's an hour and a half. Oh, it's going to be awesome. Then when some of these moments are happening and it's a little slow, you're just like, when are all these things that we've talked about for years? Do you think it could have lived up to the hype

or do you think it was inevitable? Probably not and I hated admitting that because James Dobson and a strength coach of ours when we were at Bandy, he would just, he would like laugh at us and be like, it's not going to end the way you wanted to and you back, shut the fuck up Dobson. Like yes, this is the greatest show of all time.

And so then the, yeah, he was right. The way it was rushed, like all of it, man, all of it. It's, it was hard. Yeah, it bothers you. Yeah, yeah. Scars. Yeah. Deep scars.

What's your favorite show of all time? I would say, I would say, so favorite show ever is Game of Thrones and then despite the ending. And then favorite season of all time is season one of two detective. Good season. Okay. Favorite season. I don't think I've seen it all. Of any TV show.
