All right, guys, we're going to get right into it. Top six quarterbacks of the week.
Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams.
I know they lost a heartbreaker in Denver, 30 to 26 on the road in Sunday night football.
However, Los Angeles falls to one and two.
Who would have thought the Rams would get to one and two?
They led 16-0 at halftime.
Look, Matthew Stafford, 30 and 55, almost 400 yards passing, two touchdowns, two interceptions.
A couple things here on Matthew Stafford's front.
He looks like he can still do it.
He's without Pukonuku.
He definitely can still do it.
He's without Puka Nakuwa.
Stafford threw 32 passes in the first half, though.
They wanted to throw the football against this Broncos team the most in the first half
in his entire career.
He got Devante Adams going.
He got Mumpfiel going.
The biggest thing that stood out to me, he kept producing without Puka Nakuwa.
Like Nakuwa was inactive, Stafford still threw for 390, everyone in between.
It was just one of those days.
Here's the thing, though.
This is why he's not hired.
on the list through that bad pick six look uh the broncos brought zone pressure he ended up throwing it
it's a 33rd pick six in his career it's the most in NFL history or most inactive players one of
those um it completely flipped the fourth quarter the rams were leading 19 to 16 when they were doing
it at at some point you know who funga just sort of baited them you got to throw that away here's what
i love about it though here's why he is in my top six even though they lost he ended up
going ham right after, literally immediately answered with the go-ahead fourth touchdown on the very
next position, drove the rim, 77 yards in four place, hit Mumfield on an out and up on a 48-yard
touchdown. He's going against Riley Moss to the right side. I hate the call by Vance Joseph,
who's a defensive coordinator. They bring all-out pressure. Stafford pumps, has enough time. Riley Moss falls
down, hits them, and then all of a sudden they have the lead. And then even he's throwing into the
end zone with no time left. So those two interceptions did come in the fourth quarter. However,
Matthew Stafford is an absolute G. All right, let's keep it rolling. Number five, we got Patrick Mahomes.
They beat Miami on the road 24 to 10. KC. 3 and 0. Bet you a lot of people out there for Kansas City,
all these cheese fans, all these non-cheese fans, bet you didn't think they'd be 3 and 0. Guess what?
They have a run game. Guess what? They have a play action game. Kenneth Walker's legit.
That's made Patrick Mahomes legit. 20 to 24.
246, 84% completion percentage, two touchdowns.
He threw that one interception, but if you watch the game, the interception,
bad throw, but it got tipped up about five times.
It was tip drill.
They ended up diving for it and got it.
Here's what I love about Mahomes.
10.3 yards per attempt.
Longest completion 48 yards.
First play of the game, Travis Kelsey.
They did this little sloppy corner route, Seattle route.
He's reading it.
Moves to the right.
The biggest thing that I took away from this game,
was that their play action game for the Chiefs is legit.
They have an under-center threat of running the football with Kenneth Walker.
Get this, play-action passing.
Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes were 14 of 14.
His highest completion percentage ever,
every single one of their passes on play action, he completed.
They have that threat because the dolphins were in this two-high safety look.
Now they're getting the one high.
They continually threw overroutes the entire game,
second level overrouts. Mahomes, offensive line, a little shaky, a little shaky.
What makes this performance even better is that efficiency mattered because Casey had limited
possessions. Miami held the ball for almost 35 minutes. The Chiefs, I literally just got done
breaking it down. They had 49 offensive plays, still completed 83% of the passes. Casey didn't
need high volumes. Mahomes generated explosives to Rishi Rice, Xavier Worthy, Noah Gray. I mean,
all these guys need to continue to step up.
up. And then obviously, like Kelsey, to me, he just looks the part, man. Like the late cut touchdown to
Kelsey finish it. He pumped right and he got the corner to jump up in this too high safety look.
And he threw it before the safety could get there right in between. Man, that is awesome. That's
why Mahomes is number five. All right. Let's keep it rolling. This might surprise some people.
Number four, Marcus Mariotta. What? They beat Seattle, 33, three.
31 at home, September 27th on a Sunday. And honestly, coming into this game, I believe the Seahawks
had won 15 out of their last 16 road games. So they're road warriors. By the way, Jane Daniels
disliked his elbow, didn't go on IR, so he's not out for the year. But dare I say, this David Blow
offense looked really, really good being ran by Marcus Marietta. I thought that Marcus really uses
leg selectively converted a critical third and seven with a nine-yard run in the final two minutes
to keep the clock moving. They had the RPO going, David Blow, I thought called a really,
really nice game. Three touchdown passes, too. He spread it around to three separate targets.
No interceptions. More importantly, as a quarterback, if you get takeaways from your defense,
you cannot settle for field goals. You have to turn those points. You have to turn those
takeaways into points. He scored 21 points off of takeaways. Three separate touchdowns. They had to do that.
He had to capitalize on every single Washington takeaway. I love the Scary Terry
Terry Interceptor, sorry, the Scary Terry touchdown. So Sunny Stiles intercepted Sam Dental early in
the second quarter and Marriota hit Scary Terry for a 30-yard touchdown, which I thought was awesome.
Made it 24 to 10 and just sort of had that. They had some, you know, Sam Darnold ended up coming back,
more importantly, along with Jaden, the offense just looked more efficient. I think Washington's
defense in special situations were central to the upset, including these special situations like
third and nine. They ran this like outside zone run by the running back. He was able to get
the first down. And then the next third and seven, it's a zone read. Excellent play calling by David
Blow. All right, let's keep it flowing. Jared Goff, number three, Detroit Lions, third best
back of the week. Beat the Jets, 3124 at home. Detroit improved to 2 and 1. Detroit's been in some
ballbuster games, man. It's been back and forth with him. But I love the way he played 25 of 32,
270 yards, 78% completion percentage dude was unbelievable. Two touchdowns, zero interceptions.
More importantly, stretch the football down the field, 8.4 yards per attempt. Detroit scoring,
they know how to score points. 31 points for the second consecutive game. Gough had two awesome touchdown
passes to Mallrass St. Brown, Jamir Gibbs. By the way, Jamir Gibbs is an absolute cheat code.
Drew Petzing, getting used to the offensive quarter, getting used to play calls with the lines.
They don't look as great or as dominant as they have in year pass, but I like the fact that they were able to get to two and one.
I thought golf was efficient throwing the football, but the team also had 131 yards rushing.
More importantly, golf answered after a slow start. Detroit managed only a field goal on its first three possessions.
And all of a sudden, hey, you're sort of settling in.
Offensive coordinator is giving you better play calls.
You're going, rolling.
And the lines went from a slow opening to scoring on five of their next six meaningful drives.
And I thought, look, the Jets are a team that are not giving up by any stretch from imagination.
Detroit let them 2410.
Sort of got a little close there at the end.
But then golf found Gibbs on a little swing pass, 11-year touchdown.
I thought he was great.
I thought he played really efficient.
I thought he threw the football down the field when he needed it to.
But Gibbs for sure was the Detroit, like, difference maker.
As long as he stays healthy, man, they can make some noise.
I think the offensive coordinator, Drew Petzing,
and Jared Gough need to get on the same page a little bit more.
But I like that he was that number three.
Ooh, this next one.
These are hard.
This is hard.
This guy could have easily been number one.
But Trevor Lawrence to me, Trevor Lawrence is number two.
They beat New England.
They absolutely obliterated.
They didn't beat them.
They obliterated them.
35 to 6 at home.
Jacksonville 2 and 1, their loan loss coming to a pretty good Denver team.
Most importantly, like Trevor Lawrence didn't look like his stats.
If you're just stat watching, it was just like, okay, it's 19 to 29, not even 200 yards.
But he has three touchdowns.
No interceptions.
It was awesome.
Like he's playing to me, like you count the touchdowns.
Like the way he's playing, he's playing an MVP caliber level.
Like strong run game, three touchdowns, Josh Cameron, Jacoby Myers, Parker, Washington.
How about this for a stat too?
Lawrence's second touchdown moved him past Blake Bordles into second place on Jacksonville's career touchdown pass list with 104.
Way to go.
Way to go, Trevor Lawrence.
I love the fact that they were able to produce points off turnovers.
We just said that.
Drake made a loss of fumble.
Lawrence 10 play 62-yard drive
Josh Cameron 12-yard touchdown pass
and I just think
15 play drive
two in the third quarter. Parker
Washington's legit
third and goal from the 17
Lawrence delivered like a strike
I don't know if you saw it but like
it was defensive pass interference
delivered a strike like the mechanics
the coverage it was all there
you're able to fit that in tight windows and I think
what you're seeing with Trevor
is with Liam Cohn he just can
to deliver the football into windows that are really tight.
You're really starting to see, I think Trevor Lawrence getting into a really good system of a quarterback.
Like I really think it.
He's doing a really, really good job.
And then, look, number one.
I'm sorry, it's Brock Purdy again.
Brock Purdy is playing better than any quarterback in the entire NFL right now.
It's not even close.
15 to 27, 297, four touchdowns.
Had a touchdown run, by the way.
called back. George Kittle, blocking the back, can't do that.
Purdy wasn't sacked. The big thing for the 49ers moving forward is that they have to
understand that there's going to be some injuries. Trent Williams, carted off. Mike Evans
carted off. I mean, the thing I love about this offense and this scheme with Kyle Shanahan,
he's knowing how to get certain personnel on defense out onto the field, and it's showing
because it just looks like mismatch.
Stuff is wide open.
I think I mentioned that Purdy wasn't sacked.
I don't know if you watched the game,
but the first play,
I think actually fourth play,
was the hook and ladder on a third long,
Mike Evans, as he's getting hit,
does a little stop route to him, goes down,
pitches up to Debo Samuel, 80 yards,
zero catches, 80 yards, one touchdown.
Pretty crazy.
The other play I really liked was the touchdown throw.
Mike Evans. It's a slug-o versus cover six. So this backside safety pumps him,
pumps the route and he's able to throw the football. You got to get this ball up and down.
He's like on the 30-yard line. Got to get this football up and down before the DB can see it,
which he does. And then obviously two more to George Kittle. They were just, it was just
masterpieces. Like it was one of those things where you're looking around and there,
there wasn't a bunch of great quarterback play, but Brock Purdy at the end of the day, he
looks like an early MVP candidate. Can they stay healthy? Can they continue rolling on it?
Hope you enjoyed my top six quarterbacks. All right, let's get into the full breakdowns.
We got some really good quarterback play. We are going to start with Brock Purdy. Love the way he's played.
Then we're going to get to Kyla Murray and then on to Patrick Mahomes. When you look at Brock Purdy and what he's played, you just heard me on the top six quarterbacks.
The film shows such a good point of view of his mastery of the offense.
of how it slowed down for him.
Let's get into the film.
Okay, Brock Purdy, the dude is playing unbelievable.
It's crazy to me.
Let's just play for the game.
Just get this thing going.
I mean, come on, the hook and ladder?
This is crazy to me.
Devo Samuel, zero catches, 80 yards, one touchdown to the house.
Let's break it down on how it happened,
because this dude, it's just the timing, the accuracy, all that stuff.
It's pretty simple.
what they're doing right here is they're playing so far off.
I mean, this is the down and distance.
So look how far you have to get to be able to have a first down,
but it's third in forever.
And instead of just trying to, you know, throw, you know, this type of route
or do anything like that, the 49ers are like, you know what?
We are going to run a hook and ladder.
It's like, hey, come sit down right there.
this guy right here you go block here
and Debo I believe one of these
is going over here and just it's the hook and ladder
I mean genius the fact that they go for the actual
you know
tackle right there instead of understanding what's happening
and he's getting tackled as he's going
and he's able to stay up Mike Evans able to stay up
and pitch him but the guy who
makes the whole thing work is that guy right there
just unbelievable I mean just crazy
and then you're able to go, it's the old Debo Samuel.
It truly is.
I truly believe that.
So Debo's right there.
Back in the 19, you're going to move someone over here.
You're hoping to get a five-man rush.
There's not an extra defender.
And they do.
They do a five-man rush.
I mean, they are freaking out right now.
The fact that they were able to get a five-man rush and to understand, hey, this is how it's going to work.
Let me get this.
And then what strength by Mike Evans, too, not really going down?
Dude, that is excellent.
Nice job by Brock.
Just going one, two, three.
Take the ball. The rest is history, dude. That is a sweet start to the game. Debo ain't getting caught. All right. Next play. Now let's get into the real football. Got eight total plays right here. Look at all these dudes, right? Like Trent Williams, obviously Mike Evans. Those guys got carted off. Man, that's going to be a little bit of an issue for the guys. But I think they'll be okay. Hopefully they'll be okay. Devo Samuel in the backfield. So it just puts a lot of stress on people. And then this is the sickest play I've seen. The jump.
Jump pass jumpman on the sideline and he's able to get it.
I mean, this whole play looked absolutely broken from the start.
They're trying to run, what I think they're trying to do is Debo here, motion out.
They love this seven-step under center drop.
They're trying to run a corner stop route, a flat, and then an over-rout right here by 17.
70 played a heck of a game too, truly.
But you have two blockers here.
I mean, you really have seven to block it.
So this is pretty much play action.
But when he's at the top of his drop,
he ain't looking, he's not looking, he's not looking, he's not looking, he's not looking.
The only one's looking's Debo Samuel.
He's the checkdown.
They don't make sense.
So what Brock Party, I think, has gotten a lot better at
and his game in general is extending plays.
And when he can extend plays,
this Mike is not wanting to set up.
Need a new one.
I mean, stuff like that.
Like, this isn't a throwaway, dude.
This is an absolute.
dime and a rocket and good job by 89.
Just take, we're coming back here, right?
We're just doing that.
We're doing that right there.
Oh my gosh, dude.
The back view of this is going to be so sick.
So sick.
But I love the way Jordan Watkins is playing too, 17.
Like the dude, Ole Miss, like legit.
Let's watch this play.
This is a whole play.
All right.
So as soon as you motion out, you're like, all right,
it's definitely pass.
Got two tight ends to help.
Nothing there.
No one's looking.
That this, so I don't know if he was supposed to take
a seven-step drop right there. He ain't looking, he ain't looking. The tell of a good quarterback is
when stuff is not there or stuff is broken. Can you make a play? He's not even not running. I don't know
what this dude's trying to do right here. Watch 55. Hey, don't throw it. Don't throw it. Don't throw it.
May go sack him. What are you doing? That's where he's throwing it too. And then this,
dude. Are you kidding me? That's unbelievable. I love
Mac Jones. Get you a backup quarterback like Mac Jones. That'll fight for it. That's sick. It was
absolutely complete. So sick. This is even better. I think it was a complete, even if it's not
incomplete. Who cares? But the fact of the matter is you're doing this right here and you're just
making this sort of play, right? Like that. And then you're jumping, throwing a dime. I mean,
that's a dime. Just playing around with them right there. Come on now. Okay.
All right, third and 11 money down
Got behind the sticks right here
The 49ers in general just playing
Unbelievable offense
Like there's just there's something about them
That I just love that they're just
First of all, no one's covering this dude either
Like this dude just because run Scott free
Like nothing covering him
But Jordan Watkins right here
Like this is this is nice dude
We're like not a lot of people heard about him
Okay he was a fourth round
In the 2025 draft
Let's break down the actual play.
I'm looking up him too because old miss.
Two by two formation.
All right, easy enough.
Then we go to three by one.
All right.
Now you've got to figure out are they blitzing one, two, three extra threats along with the lines, which are four D linemen.
All right.
So what are they doing?
Are they bringing it?
All right.
They're just bringing five.
When they're bringing five, the middle of the field's wide open.
There's no deep safety.
Complete miss, but he throws this thing between three defenders.
It's this wrap route.
and he hits him right in. I thought he's going to be gone right there.
Wooee.
It looks like he's supposed to have a seam.
He's supposed to have here and some type of right there,
or some type of comeback up top.
But this is what he reads.
Pretty's like, hey, single high safety, so single high zone.
This is where I'm going.
Look at the outside leverage.
He's looking at that too.
Look at, hey, we have five-man pressure.
Nobody can get underneath it.
And this guy's walking over here.
Just an excellent play and an excellent throw.
as he's getting hit right there one two three four five six seven threats up there so first
all as a quarter we get a feel feel okay where's everyone at what are we doing how's how's this
happening once you figure that out then you can just say you know what eyes go here not so
fast it's in these tight windows he's so good at those rap intermediate throws but I
love the watch the wrap watch the footwork right here all right jab step one two three
hitch no no hitch so jab step one two three no hitch ball everything is on the same level in a
plane and it's going straight toward the target as you're getting hit they got to do a better job
passing this off right here left guard's got to go go go you can't throw it any better this will be a
sweet view so 28 coming down baker 51 they're all dropping except for one one's rushing so now you get a
one you got a five man rush they're trying to go five on five you have skisks
Gap protection.
So he understands, quarterback understands, hey, I'm not hot.
Then you got to get out there and get that ball out.
These intermediate throws, man.
I thought for sure.
The fourth thing he was going to go, not so fast.
Could have been sweet, though.
Heck of a game by 17, though.
All right.
Next play, two by two formation.
It's a slot formation.
Now that's 12 personnel, two tight ends down here.
Receiver, receiver, right there.
Here we go.
I like this formation from them.
Pump and go.
And Mike Evans, come on now.
This is what he brings down here.
I'm telling you, this Mike Evans throw.
They're going to too high safety.
You look, but you know what?
You're going to the field, and it's quarters right there.
There's no way in the right mind that a quarterback thinks that a receiver is going to beat this corner who has the deep quarter.
Just say, hey, we're going to pump it.
Just that little move right there.
Look at this.
It's like a little slug-o-slag-slop-and-go.
just one move and go, and he just beats them,
and the throw it takes, you're not really even pumped this guy,
you're pumping the corner.
Just like right there.
Like got them.
Pretty good job getting back in phase,
but this ball has to be such a good throw.
It has to be up and down.
It has to get up and down.
It can't be this rainbow throw that people are saying
that you hear a lot about.
But I love this.
I mean, the route concept is sweet.
You just have a corner route to hold this guy.
And then you have a slant and return.
So it's like a whip route of sort, like a backwards whip route, and then a slug-o.
So that's all you're reading.
Pump it, throw it.
Dime City.
He's on a heater right now.
I mean, he hasn't missed a lot of throws, like just in general this year.
Watch this footwork right there.
Trying to disguise, hey, is he going back half?
Not so fast.
See his base, though?
His base is so good.
He never gets outside of his base.
Watch his front foot on that pump.
That's all it takes, young quarterbacks, right?
just that little and then the stutter
and then look you still have everything going toward it
back foot on the ground
this ball doesn't get more than 15 feet off the ground
and then the late hands too by Mike Evans
I think that's the thing
like we're not showing hey going up there
because when you do that DBs come in SWAT
late hands
all you need baby
what a throw
hope Mike's going to be okay
because this dude I'm telling you he's unlocked
Brock Purdy even more
they got to stay healthy
I know that, but like, look at that.
How in the world did that ball fit in that window?
What a dime.
There's a dime.
Nothing more to it.
Once again, third and long.
It's like they want to be in third and long.
They're run, run, not so much to get these conversions.
Ah, now this one, we're not putting all good things in.
So it's a wrap route.
It's pretty much the same thing.
So Mike Evans was a slot.
You're going to come out here and you're going to wrap or like,
it's like a 14 to 16 yard wrap.
route he goes slant and out and you're just high low in these guys he doesn't see this guy though
i think this is the guy up top yeah so he he gets he gets a little bit right it's like half field
quarters this is where you want to go if that's the case because they're clouding up to the field
he's got a half and it's called he's got a quarter but it's called cheat so six cover six
cheat to three by one side.
When you do that, it's one-on-one backside. That's where you have to go.
This would have been sweet, and he was throwing it in there, but he just, he gets, he gets
messy, you know, luckily, luckily it's on interception. Everyone gets tricked.
His eyes have to go here first. Not so fast. It's okay. It happens. That was the reasoning,
though. Luckily, didn't get picked off. But yeah. So this guy, he's already looking over there.
there's one to three guys over there two by two here so he runs over there cheats it uh don't think
purdy thought this was a case because most of the time you get this cheat in three by one formations
not two by two formations but maybe they had a call on to i don't know number five mike evans
that you're going to cheat over so got to see out in front of the throw he's just worried about
one getting it over also look at look at our guy right there pretty open
can throw that in there as well.
There you go.
All right.
Let's see you from this view.
So you just got to watch this guy.
Coming over,
his eyes are here,
Cuey Vision Cone,
instead of there.
Got to go the opposite way.
Look at his arm angle.
Try to get that up and over.
I mean, I think three would have had it too.
Probably Baker would have had that.
All right, next play.
Let's get this down here.
Play 47 of the game.
First of all, first thing I notice is one, two, three.
That's two backs, two tight ends, 22 personnel.
What that does is it gets base defense, three, four on it.
That's a safety, safety, corner, corner, three, four defense on the field.
And so here's the deal.
This may look so easy, but you don't understand the genius of Kyle Shanahan.
Let's get in 22 personnel.
In 22 personnel defenses in the red zone inside the 10-yard line
and only do so many certain things defensively.
What did Shanahan think,
hey, they're probably going to end up in two-eye safety.
They're probably going to do that.
He's playing the numbers game.
Then let's just add, hey, CMC out of the backfield.
Okay, well, where's this Mike going too high safety?
Split safety?
Well, he goes to the three-receiver side.
Right here, it's static.
It's two-by-two with the back in the eye.
But where does he end up going?
CMC ends up going all the way out here.
So this guy is going to go here.
Then it just becomes an easy,
option route, which you always say take the slant first off of a dropper, which is here.
Okay, that's the safety. The droppers on the line of scrimmage. This is an absolute cheat code.
How are you supposed to like it's a go ball? It's an option. He can break inner out.
Stick, nod here, here. This is such a good scheme. I can't even begin to tell you, man.
like it's so easy and Kittle scores an easy one.
Like go, go thank Kyle Shanan for this scheme,
the schematics, because this is unbelievable.
So like I was saying, two,
that's a full back and a tight end to the right,
George Kittler to the left.
The Mike backer right here,
middle linebacker in the middle of the formation,
he's always going to turn in too high safety
because you have two safeties getting out of there
towards speed, which is the three receiver side.
Well, what's the three receiver side right now?
Well, there's one,
two, three to the right. One's going to turn to the right. And George Kittle is running an option route
off a drop-in backer. This is cheating. This is cheating. More teams need to be like this. Look at it from
this angle. All right, five, you're just running on five. Leans on them. They're already on the same page.
Pretty simple like taking candy from a baby. All right, second and 13, couple more right here.
like how this is wide trips bunch right here all right hey you got to lose you use your legs every
once a while right look at this young man right come on there's a flag so it doesn't count but come on
purdy who thought he was this fast are you kidding me this is unbelievable i'll throw this mic away
producer grant give me a new mic uh this is unbelievable truly love this play a couple things here out and up
option route this is where he wants and then some type of wrap route so you want to read over here
to this post to here to run he gets through his fifth regression not there would have loved to throw
that probably not too good so that's covered everything's covered they're running on this
no one's got the quarterback everyone thinks he can't throw or excuse me a lot of people think he can't
scramble not so fast this is a dime of a run and don't oh okay
Kittal. You all mistake dinner. Right here. I don't know. That's a little wishy-washy.
We'll break down this kiddle one because this is dime. Like no one through, up and out.
Look how everyone's right there. There's Kittle all the way. Kittles working already right there.
Get a block. Let's watch this. Kittle, what are you doing?
Yeah, you can't do that. That takes back a really long run. Look at this. He thinks he thinks
he scored little of the kiddle know kiddell's like no he even looks back he know that's a classic sign
he's floating like peter pan that's hilarious love this guy too let's go all right last play even though
even though kiddle held you're going to get another kiddle touchdown on the over route it's just it's hard
to beat the 49ers when they're all like he's wide open it's just hard to beat when you're like full look at all
this run action. He even sells it and comes over. There's nothing crazy to it, right? Just a little
over route. 49ers and Kyle Shanahan are rolling. Can they stay healthy though? That's the biggest thing
with Mike Evans. Watch this run action. Everything's screaming this way. He even sells like, hey,
down and over. No one's over there. Should get that fourth tutty of the day for Brock Purdy. So
easy. Good job staying in bounds. 49ers are going to be hard to beat this year. I really hope you
liked Brock Purdy. Like I said, the film is unbelievable. Now we are going to get to
Kyler Murray. Kyler Murray to me just played okay. We can't put every game on here that he plays
amazing. There were three to five plays on this film that you're going to be like, they can get a
lot better. The stats would have looked a lot better, but we're going to show you all of it on the
film right now. All right, Kyler Murray, some ups and downs. Most importantly, the Vikings are
three and oh. We're going to get into this. I thought he did a good job at the line of scrimmage. A lot
of these, hey, check with me, a Ler Alert, Lerlert, Carson wins did a nice job.
I think just overall, once Kyler gets used to this offense, I think he's going to be a
better fit.
Justin Jefferson, not great being hurt, but this is first play of the game, and it is
awesome.
Jordan Edison, Justin Jefferson, to me, T.J. Hawkins, Aaron Jones, they got some good
weapons.
So you bring over here, you go all the way here, you try to see, hey, is it corners over,
man if it is and we're going to stay with the play if not at zone zone zone right so alert alert alert
you're going to run through it i mean this is about as easy as it gets but you have the best
receiver in football doing it a dagger a through route the music you love your favorite radio stations

Hi, it's Alec Baldwin.
This season on my podcast,
here's the thing I'm speaking with more artists,
policymakers, and performers like actor Stephen Root.
I think for me to be any good
or for any character act to be any good,
you've got to put enough of yourself
and your empathy for people in it.
I'm a people watcher.
You see that guy going down the dream and go,
yeah, I can use that.
Open Igloo co-founder, Alia Muhammad.
I love staying on top of what is going on in our city, what is going on in city politics, what is on renter's minds, and taking all of that knowledge to build a platform that hopefully is going to make New York City better in the long run.
And actress and singer Melissa Eriko.
Partnership took on a whole other meaning when I started making my own work.
It's like you with a great actress or actor.
It was best to come out of your trailer, full of life, and just face another person who's not.
full of life and don't talk.

an epidemic against literature?
More specifically, black literature.
Our books are being banned, scanned
by AI, and destroyed.
I'm Jack Weiss Peace Thomas
and on this season of the Blacklit
podcast, we're outside
asking some of the custodians
of our stories, teachers, and
our modern day writers, why?
They don't want a whole bunch of little elevators,
Michael Maxes and Martin Luther King's running around.
They want to build children who have no empathy.
That's really the ultimate goal.
We want books that don't make white kids feel bad.
So is the war on literacy and information
or our ability to connect?
We want people to know how sexy reading is and how fun they could be
and not always associated with education.
It could be an escape.
It could be entertainment.
And that is the beauty of reading.
It can be all of those things.
And considering this is Black Reading Month,
the only real question is,
what are you reading next?

Do I have what it takes?
I'm Emily Abadi, and on Hurtle with Emily Abadi,
we dive into the grit, vulnerability, and mindset that fuels our greatest comebacks.
I talk to elite athletes, Olympic champions, industry change makers, and everyday runners about how they face self-doubt, redefined success, and keep moving forward when life gets heavy.
I'd just love to say I never know who's watching.
So you want to make sure you, you through and through, and you just stay true to who you are.
Yeah, your path might change because different things come on your path to disrupt it, but it's just putting you on a new path and the skills you have to have faith at the skills that you've,
learn and developed over time are going to continue to bring you success.
When the world is burning and crashing around you, will you still say fight for your dream?
Will you still say it's possible?
Will you still believe you're a good person?
Can you still see the brighter side of tomorrow?
It's motivation, real talk, and practical wisdom for life on and off the run.

You only want to throw this verse, ma'am, which it's not, and then you're going to read one.
low to high on this dagger.
It is a half-field read.
You're going to see this quite a bit today
from Kevin O'Connell and the Vikings.
I love the fact that he's able to get back there,
play under-sitter, right?
Footwork pretty good.
I mean, it is a perfectly thrown football.
Gets a little shaken up right there.
I didn't play much in this game.
Not great news for Vikings fans.
But Kyler, you know, didn't have a lot of completions early,
but I love the fact that this first play of the game.
You're throwing this thing deep.
There you go, alert, alert, alert.
Aaron Jones, same thing.
Getting to the flat.
Just reading number six right here, right?
Great play action.
Over top, sorry, that's number eight.
Watch what this play action does to number eight.
Get them out of the way.
Let's go.
Throws a dime.
Really good pocket awareness on this play.
Not necessarily the rest of the game,
but the defense might be the best unit in all of football.
I mean, we'll get to that later.
this is about Kyler though
want to affect number eight
get 23 out of there
when it's a good pocket
he's good he got quite a few
balls batted down but this is
this is like routes on air right
good feet he likes to play on his toes
this tippy toes I don't know if it's because he wants to get
taller or whatever
see better but that's a dime right there
he cannot throw that football any
better right here we go three by one formation
play 11 in the game
all right
Watch this play.
Kay's good scrambler.
I like that about him,
but he missed this.
This is wide open.
You got to be able to do this.
I'm pretty sure what they're doing.
They have T.J. Hawkinson right there.
You're going to just motion out right there.
And you're just going to the stick routes, right?
I think he's turning out.
He's turning in through,
through.
You really want to work these two guys based off defenders.
So this is play 11 in the game.
It's third down.
This is what Kylin Murray brings to you.
Like if they're going to play man-to-man or a version of man
and they're going to end up bringing pressure,
they're bringing five here.
It's a simulated pressure.
They're dropping this guy out.
You got to be able to throw up.
He's looking this way for this rap.
14's wide open.
Bang it on him.
Probably won't get the first down.
I don't know if the distance isn't good enough,
but this is a slant route right here.
So it's just, it's a weird combination of routes.
Maybe a rap route.
sorry not a slant route there's a difference between um that slants three wraps five got to get
off that though when you get double coverage throw into the pressure 14's open he tries to throw it
doesn't know what he doesn't see it or doesn't trust it you can also throw a comeback route all the
way up there but i'm working this way all day long good pocket movement you know it's not there but
this is what a guy like Kyler Murray can bring you okay just got to get your eyes in the right
spot it's his first game regular season game I get that they do this pick stunt here this is
very difficult where you're picking here and you're rapping here 31 has to do a good job going to
get it but I don't know if he started there but I would love for him to just start here
throw into pressure boom right there right there throw it on them gets off them but how about
that like you know gets through had them dead in the rights this is he can still do this and he
should still should still carries a ball like a little bit of a loaf of bread there's j jc mccarthy
right there giving him a high five so good start so far love the fact that they're doing this it's this
pick stunt to where you have to slide three for three he picks here trying to get there
once he picks he then ends up on the quarterback eyes are right
Okay, then he goes back here. He's like rush watching.
I don't know if that's supposed to be a little bit.
I don't know.
But you do this, it's all good.
Make him right. First down.
All right, third and four right here, tight formations.
There he is at the line of scrimmage.
I do like that.
He's making calls left and right.
He seems like he knows exactly what he's doing.
The Bucs brought all this like double A mug stuff.
That's an A gap. That's a safety.
So there's seven threats along with the four down.
but there's one safety here.
You got to get the line going this way.
They all drop out to cover three.
Thought he could have thrown this.
This one's a little bit harder to see and understand.
He's going to the right spot, though.
So what you're doing, you have a flat route,
you have a grab route,
and then you have this wrap route,
and this is between the hook curl who's going to be here
and the flat defender here.
You got to have that.
I'm not sure what he's seeing.
from his point of view.
I think he's feeling this guy come off.
That's all right.
Okay.
Make a move.
And, oh, here's what it is.
They're trying to wrap.
He's trying to fake it and pump it to the flat.
It doesn't take.
So they have this double move on.
So I'm okay with him getting off of it.
I just saw this.
You're hoping that this corner attaches to three.
This is just a heck of a play by the corner.
So this isn't as bad as you think.
Just, ah, he,
to hate to take a sack they are going for it it's third and four like it's third and four if he
would have just had there they would just banged it there i like the aggressive play call though
so that's why he didn't throw that on time at first look when i watched it this morning i didn't
realize it but it is it's called a um warly bird watch 14 you want to pump there but you've got to
see if this corner attaches the corner doesn't attach corner plays it really well lets it go so that's
That's why this looks wide open.
That wasn't the play call.
I thought he was going to get out of this.
See, I watch him here.
Pumps not so fast.
He's trying to get that whirly bird to stop and go.
Corner falls off.
He's already in mode maybe right there.
Got to stay on better offensive line.
All right.
Next play.
Starting this tight in all the way out there
to get a man zone.
read if safety was out there or a linebacker is out there would tell you his man it's called
go-to-school formation not so fast now you have a slot formation very similar to the first play of the game
right alert alert alert they don't get man so then now they alert to the man beater or sorry
through the zone beater so what's the zone beater I think it's a really good play love the way he's
operating under center this is play 21 of the game right good fake get your head across
boom and a really nice catch
by Jordan Addison.
Once you watch, I think that's Jay, nope, that's not.
So Jordan Addison is going to go up, 40 yards pile on.
You can get thrown down the field at an angle by the quarterback if needed.
The guy who makes it right here, he has a corner stop,
just trying to get this corner to sit on this corner stop,
to then throw the corner or deep pylon route over top of it.
I love it.
They end up bringing pressure right here.
all right from the nub side tied in
that's perfect
it's exactly what you want to do
and then you gain leverage on the safety
would love for him to throw this a little bit higher
hard throw though from the hash
actually you know what
I don't wish I would have thrown higher
I love that throw right there
seems to me
he needs to take this a little bit higher
he throws it on Angleseon
heck of a catch though
unbelievable catch
but I like this Kyle
under center. This Kyla under center makes sense to me. You go there, hey, all right, there's a lot of guys at the
line of scrimmage. Let's alert to a pass play. Let's throw this thing. Alert, alert, alert, alert, right? What do I say about this?
Half field read. Just make it easy. Bring somebody on the other side. Good pocket too. Can step up a little
bit more right there on his feet. Look at this arm angle release. This is sweet. This is sweet. I like this.
boom toe tap is next level man all right this view brings it in brings it over alert alert we saw that let's just watch
his mechanics this is sweet boom boom boom boom boom like how he snaps his head around right he's just
making sure no white jerseys coming scot-free still got a strong arm puts that thing on a money
and then boom boom
O wee
Okay, a couple plays later
Best play of the day right here for
Kyler Murray
Watch him, all right
What did I say?
You put the Titan out there
You bring them over
Right, as soon as you see this
You're checking the play
Because it's not man to man
Everyone has to switch
Everyone has to do everything they need to do
Kyler Murray saw something in the coverage
That said, hey, you know what?
I'm going to check this play
And I'm going to throw a dagger
Of a freaking touchdown.
Watch this.
So good
Touchdown heck of a catch just give you a guy a chance. So there's a lot to like about this number one. Let's just watch this safety
So they're cloud here over here. So this is means this is half field safety and it looks like it's cloud here not so fast. It's cheat. So it's cover six
Cheat and they're cheating to the three receiver side. So Kyler saw that and said hey, you know what? One on one down
here. Watch Kyler. Right? This safety sort of goes that way not so fast, right? Get back to Jordan
Addison. It's almost like an out and up, but he throws it and he just gives this guy a chance.
See what happens when you just give your guy a chance? Inside release, don't love it. Sort of spray go
right there. Only thing Kyler's looking at is this backside safety. It's double sit routes right
there. It's third and forever. Dude, this is so good. This is such a money play. Like, give me three to five
of these a day or game with Kyler go rob just one-on-one and that and main that that would normally be
Justin Jefferson but he gives this guy a chance as he's getting smoked touchdown Vikings I love it
so watch the operation come here hey check check don't know what that is okay but it's on it's on tape
so we're going to break it down check check you got that and then he gives one person there and he says
hey let's just get this double move this is sweet this is why you go out and get Kyler
worry. This is why you go out and try to get them because of just the operation at the line
of scrimmage. Good protection. Really good throw. Throws it inside because he sees the receiver go
inside, a great concentration there by Addison. Let's look it from this view. Lur-Lur-Lert. Choice route,
maybe out and up. I don't know. It's not really a choice, but it's what it is. And now he then gives
protection to the line of scrimmage. This guy's like, what the hell?
hell's the protection, Kyler.
All right.
Center's like, hey, relax.
Let's go out there.
We're going this way.
You got in help.
Right?
One, two, three.
And then look, he does this.
He even goes a little bit to the right because he feels something over there.
But he pulls this safety.
Okay, to 14.
Dime.
Spiral, too.
Sweet.
Difference in the game right there.
All right.
Next play in the cut up, two by two formation.
Back over here.
All right.
Let's see what he does.
A lot of guys up.
So what did I say?
That's a safety.
That's a linebacker. That's a linebacker. It looks like it's man-to-man everywhere else
Okay, this safety's probably here one probably has here. Let's see if they end up a man-to-man or what Kyler does because of it
Ah, they get to coverage so three deep four under. Oh, this was a throw that he wants back
This was the perfect read. He has to make this. We're not just showing good stuff here
So kudos for him for understanding they're bailing out right. They're going to a deep third with four guys and
Underneath so cover three here's the route concept gonna have tight split corner stop
Right work the middle of the field and then a post route over top
So you want to sort of work the middle of the field first if this safety bites down on it take this post route over top and it's open
He just does not get enough into it
All right sort of stinks. This is the one miss throw he threw it too high
If you throw this football over here where there's no one there because you have the backside corner it's it's an easy
catch. Addison knows it too. Once that one back. Right. So moving back, they get the zone.
No. Gotcha. This safety, that's a free safety right there. He comes up, launch it. Look how much room
you have. Got to bring it over there. This is one he wants back. His numbers will look way better
if you would have had this. Watch even. He's like, oh, hey, I'm going. I'm going. Not so fat.
Like there's so much stuff that NFL guys do that just don't try to disguise.
Ball hangs in the air too long.
You know what I mean?
Just hangs in the air.
You got to put this ball in over there.
The plays are there.
That's what I'm saying.
Like the plays are there.
They shouldn't hit them.
First game back, he'll get more comfortable.
Play three by one formation.
Single receiver.
There's no safety there.
No one goes across, probably zone.
No one chases across, probably zone, which it is.
They're going to this.
crazy cover too.
So a couple things on this one.
Miscommunication.
They're running for vertical.
So they're just running all go.
And I think these guys on the outside are reading it.
If it's cloud coverage, they can convert.
But if it's off, they can sit down.
A couple things here, though.
They're getting to it weirdly.
He's going to go over there.
He's there.
It's called this 22 invert.
You're going back here.
that's a half, that's a half, you're going here.
So what Kyler sees it as that, however, the tight end sort of stops.
I want to see the tight end take the middle of the field where Kyler's throwing it,
maybe pump outside.
All right, so that's that portion of it.
See that?
Like Kyler's ready to throw, you need to be up this scene like this before this corner,
who's really the safety takes over.
Look at all that stuff in the middle field.
So they're trying to take it deep like that.
And then the third factor of this whole thing is watch the back, right?
If they get so deep, like just check it down, right?
I know what he sees and he's like, oh, I got this.
But it's a little bit muddy.
This hook curl defender or this guy right here, he's at 10 yards.
Take the back.
You can't go broke, taking a profit, getting in a third manageable,
trying to force the ball down the field.
I get it. I would have done the same thing.
What he's being coached is, hey, two-fold.
Okay, run the right route.
But two, like, look at this guy.
Watch this guy.
Right?
You got to see everything.
It's hard to see as a quarterback.
I ain't even on the screen, dude.
Plug him here.
Go get the first.
Live to fight another down.
They just weren't on the same page.
That's what he wanted to do, though.
He wanted to split it.
But I just look at it and I'm like,
uh, check down.
okay it's the back right it's just these small things it's not as bad as you think like just these small
things from kailer said and played in a minute all right next play kailer murray

Hi, it's Alec Baldwin.
This season on my podcast,
here's the thing I'm speaking
with more artists,
policymakers, and performers
like actor Stephen Root.
I think for me to be any good
or for any character actor to be any good,
you've got to put enough of yourself
and your empathy for people in it.
I'm a people watcher.
You see that.
That guy going down the train, though.
Yeah, I can use that.
Open Igloo co-founder, Alia Mohamed.
I love staying on top of what is going on in our city, what is going on in city politics, what is on renter's minds, and taking all of that knowledge to build a platform that hopefully is going to make New York City better in the long run.
And actress and singer Melissa Eriko.

Crazy, here we go.
Going there.
Ah, bad throw.
Can't happen.
Can't happen.
They have this little out and up, right?
And they have like a lot of dudes in the background.
They're getting heavy.
Play action fake.
They've been setting this up all game.
Seam route to pull this corner.
And then you want an out and up to be on this backer who's going to be dropping there in a flat route.
So you're just loading this zone.
You got to put this ball more on an angle, dude.
Right?
You got to be right there.
You got to put this.
Boom.
Got to drive it.
Not great.
By the way, I'm just now finding out that the Vikings have traded J.J. McCarthy
To the New York Giants for a fifth round pick.
Just literally just saw that.
But here we go, all right?
Play fake, you got to hit this.
This is one you want back.
There's like three or four plays on this that you're like,
like just you're throwing it out of bounds.
Like Hawk does a good job trying to get his feet down.
That's not a hard throw.
You just put this thing in between there.
Just inaccurate as the game went on, right?
but stuff is there.
Like he could have easily had over 220,
25 yards, 240 yards passing.
Like if he hits these things,
you can't lob that right there.
It's bad throw.
All right, next play right here.
All right.
Two by two formation going up to the line of scrimmage
understanding what's going on.
All right, here we go.
Got to make a move.
What are we doing here?
Right, one, two.
Another one.
Like missed, another miss throw.
This isn't hard.
It's just an option route.
You're going to sit down and you want to throw this corner route to the field.
This is just like a little bit of lack of reps with the first group.
He does a really nice job.
It's really hard to throw this corner.
Look at his, like look at him falling back though, right?
Like, look.
I don't love that.
I don't love that at all.
This is a throw that you got to get up and over this guy.
He has a chance to make that.
You got to put that ball 25 yards on the on the, on the side.
He just throws him at a higher angle, but you can't throw him at a higher angle because he's there. He's already had a higher angle. You want this angle like a 45 degree angle. And he tries to do a little too much with the look at him. He tries to pump the corner just enough. Don't do that. Don't do that. Just just throw this thing another miss. So see as the game went on a little bit, he's trying to do too much. His mechanics here aren't great. It gets a little and then look how long a stride is right there. And he's falling back. That right leg.
is coming across not great all right last play in the cut up second and nine right here i like the
under center running the ship there's been it's been up and down for him running the ship though let's get under
center let's do this let's get this play action game going right here we go stuff's open nice throw
see there you go i love it i like it just take this square out to the field and you have this
over route right here i thought i thought there's a lot of stuff to like with kailer murray
truly. I think the more he gets into the rhythm of practice and understanding, hey, out there
getting reps, all that stuff, the biggest thing is the Vikings are three and Oaks. The Vikings
defense, just don't turn the ball over and you'll be okay. But I like it. You end on a really good
one. Vikings are legit. All right, guys, hope you enjoyed the Caller Murray film. Remember, there's some
plays out there that you wish that he could have had back. Now let's get to the last film of the day.
It's probably my favorite film that I've had out there. That is Patrick,
Mahomes, super efficient, throwing the football down the field. The play action game is working.
Everything you could possibly want. Let's get into it. Patrick Mahomes, let's get right into it.
Thought he played a lot better than people probably thought. The numbers weren't insane.
But here's one thing that I want you to realize, they are an under center play action team.
like he completed 14 passes for 14 um on 14 attempts in play action game so he was perfect in play action
game and what better play than to get started in 12 personnel which is sorry 13 personnel three
tight ends okay tied in right here and you go play action to Kenneth Walker and oh by the way they're
in two eye safety so they're going to be coming down and get Travis Kelsey going watch this player here
I love it no gray comes in motion comes back a
Nice job by my homes finding in a little bit extra time, but I mean just put these guys in a blender
Watch this safety up top just flies down right
This is a play that they love to run they've been running this play
For a very long time so Travis Kelsey's right here
You're gonna go up the Xavier worthy Rishi rice whoever that is does not matter. It's a pylon
So you go 40 yards
To the back pylon and this is called a Seattle right
It's a Seattle route is a sloppy Seattle route
you want to sell the over to get this safety up top to bite down on it and then you're going to
come back here and then you're going to have the back over here nice job by no gray setting up going
back over there invite him inside but like the fact that he's able to throw this and throw this back
across his body to a wide open Travis Kelsey while also seeing the corner down here who's playing the
flat and um Travis Kelsey just super impressive man like he doesn't even set his seat this is the first play
the game. I just 49-yard play
for Travis Kelsey. I mean, Travis
Kelsey, the last two, three games
has been really, really good.
So I do like this, right? Noah Gray
to the right of the formation.
13 personnel, one back, three
tight ends. Look at Kenneth Walker.
I mean, everyone's eyes right now
are on Kenneth Walker in the
backfield. Mahomes does a really nice
job. I like the fact that they are,
let's see if they're reversing out. Yeah, they're reversing out.
Watch the fake right here.
Watch all these dudes. All these
dudes for Miami, even the corner, the safety, are on Kenneth Walker. Like, we have to absolutely
destroy him. And what does Mahomes do? Well, he gets a little leakage from the right, just
continues on. He's supposed to set up right there. He just has such a good feel for the pocketman.
He sets up. Doesn't even need to set his feet. I mean, look at this. Everyone's looking like
everything's going that way. And then you throw back across the body. That's one of the hardest things
you can do. And it's just wide open spaces. Yes.
I know you like my singing.
Nice play.
All right, play two of the breakdown.
We got, we got 10 of them under center again.
Taekwan Thornton, Rishie Rice, Travis Kelsey, Xavier Worthy.
Tycoon Thornton, low-key, legitimate player for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Love the way he's playing.
And then also here, like, what, Tyquine Thornton with the corner route?
I mean, this is crazy to me.
This is the amount of times they threw this ball in practice when they're reping this is about zero.
You're going to have Kelsey.
go to the flat he's the number one the point guy thornton has the corner route rsci rice um it's this
this is literally on a shallow and then xavier worthy on a shell this is literally k4 y banana or spider
two y banana whatever john gruden wants to call it uh so this is what it is what it is you read it low to
high the flat route is number one the crosser or shallow cross is number two by xavier worthy
and then you're trying to throw the corner versus cover three uh versus uh is number three but what are
do sure he could have probably dotted them missed the block right there don't love the fact that
mohomes got someone in his in his face but look everything's on him and a nice angle there between
the corner and the safety that's where you want to attack these x is on the field middle of the
field or the sidelines about 20 to 24 yards that's where you want to attack and just a dime
of a throw I mean this is he's not even said in his feet he looked a little gimpy on this one let's
see what the issue was. But so look, look, there's a six one. So there's four defensive linemen
in the middle of the field, all inside the tackles. You have number 20 to the left side of the
formation. You have number 29 to the right side of formation. So you're getting blitzed.
Kenneth Walker should be here. They're sliding, they should be sliding five for five.
one, two, three, four, five. Kenneth Walker should have anyone coming off that edge.
Let's see, ends up doing. Oh, yeah, that's a bad. That's not good. 65. 65 did not play really
well this game to be honestly the right guard leakage but then to be able to throw that over top and then
the catch the extension what let's go we're going to see it from this view because i want to this is the
detackle the looks like a two i almost head up you can't do that you can't overslide you can't have somebody
in mahomes face if mahom's didn't have anyone's face probably take the underneath but the fact that he's able to
feel that and then be able to get this ball and then i mean this dude
jumps. Thornton jumps from the 20. He lands on the 17. Chairleaders aren't happy about it,
but nice play. All right. Next play right here. Under center again, tight formation. Again,
the chiefs have completely changed who they are and their offensive identity because of
Kenneth Walker. Yeah, $15 million a year for him. Excellent. A little play fake. Oh my God. This is such a
silly play. Like the underneath, let's just, let's break down what happens. So they're running the exact same.
same play as last time.
This is, this is crazy.
So they reverse out, they fake.
Mahomes is going to his right.
But I want you to watch Travis Kelsey.
He is sort of the filet mignon.
He's the main dish that people want to see him.
That's what, that's what Andy Reid would call him.
Then once again, you have a corner route, and then you have a spot route.
So it's literally one, two, three.
They've run this at least two or three times in this game already.
this is play 15 of the game.
They set this up so well.
You're going to fake it backside,
and you're just hoping they saw that the end on the last time played really high up.
You're pulling the left guard around for this Mike Backer.
These four offensive linemen are going here,
and they're playing all these guys into the end zone.
Dude just walks in.
How about this play, though?
Like, dude doesn't get touched.
That's the easiest passing touchdown of all time.
Let's see it from this view.
So flat, 11's got a corner, Xavier Worthy right here.
You're reversing.
out and then Kenneth Walker's going to go to where the hole is once this left guard comes
around for number 10 who's the Mike linebacker. So here, around here, boom, boom, boom.
You're not blocking the D-N. You're hoping the D-N flies up field, which they do and which he does.
How good is this play? You can't draw it up any better. They had no clue what was happening.
Poor Miami Dolphins. I don't know if they're going to win. I don't know if they're going to win a game.
They might be defeated all season long. Let's see it from this year.
because I love a good red zone touchdown pass.
They're at the five yard line right now.
You just decided, hey, look at this.
How sick?
It counts as a touchdown pass.
All right, next play.

What do you know?
Under Center, tight split trips bunch formation.
This was the formation of the day.
They said, hey, this is what we're going to do.
Mahomes out there,
Mike and people saying,
hey, the safety's coming down,
which he does.
I love this play for a couple reasons.
One,
it's like sprint out smash.
I'm trying to understand
what they're doing here.
All right, so they're going to go
a jet suite motion.
Xavier, Worthy,
is going to run a stop route
on this jet suite motion.
Then you have an inside fade.
Then you have Travis Kelsey,
who's the number one on an overrout.
This is 18 to 22 yards.
This is six to eight yards.
I believe this should be one.
If they get man, he hit that.
If not, it's two.
And then you're going to have a back or another tight-in go across for a checkdown.
All right.
So it is, it's Noah Gray.
I love this so much.
Like, look at everything going.
You got jet sweep.
You got him crossing.
You got him going there.
Just a nice job of understanding when to take the checkdown and when not.
Because he's reading this hook, curl defender.
You're trying to get this hook, curl defender to bump.
up and you're trying to get this gronk route this deep cross because they call it gronk because
gronk made it popular you're trying to get this deep cross okay right there you're reading the left
hook curl defender so you're high lowing off Travis kelsey and no gray where does this guy go
depends on where I go my homes looks at Kelsey who's not even waiting for the ball then dumps it
down that's how you stay ahead of the chains when you continually hit them down the field
they're eventually going to have to back up and you just take the check down I love this
You're inserting through the A gap.
You're here.
Cross by number 10.
And then a deep cross by Travis Kelsey,
all with Xavier Worthy going there.
So let's watch Mahomes.
He's saying, hey, you watch him.
He knew he was coming down.
All right?
So 10 would have this guy.
If he blitz, he doesn't.
So they stay front side.
Right?
Watch Mahomes.
Look at him.
He knows exactly what he's doing.
He's trying to throw this.
Look at those.
That's sweet, bro.
He's looking at Travis Kelsey,
understanding that he has to fool this hook girl
defender to then get to Noah Gray. Talk about knowing the offense. That is so sick.
All right. Next play, motion Rishi Rice down. Thought he had a really good game. If he can turn into a
legitimate number one receiver on this insert like this, he's going to be really, really good.
So easy. Another play action. A lot of teams are doing this. I don't know if he felt pressure,
and that's why Mahomes. It's front side fake rollout right. I'm going to guess that he probably felt
pressure, but he should set up in this. I really, and
enjoy this, right? And then you're going to have an insert, which they run a lot of this,
insert block, insert block. Let's run, motion him down like it's a run, insert corner route,
and then Xavier Worthy using speed. This is where they need to get better at using Worthy.
This is where I think he can get really, really good, and you're going to have here, and you're going to
have the flat. So it's alert to the corner, one to Xavier Worthy, who has at 18 to 22-yard
crosser, and then two here. But I like the fact that they're bringing free safety pressure to
the back side. I know for a fact they shouldn't let this D-In come scot-free. So there's
once again another mess-up on that side of the formation. He just like eyes in the back of his
head, dude. And then you go over here. This is where Worthy's really good. Okay. For she
Rice, you got to keep running. Sweet though. It's sweet, though. It's a sweet play. There's no way
this defensive end who's going to the C gap right or sorry the B gap a B C should be coming
scot free look at this like you got to play the game hey you're going to come in Rishi
rice you're going to block this safety not so fast we're going to clear him out and then bring
something across let's try to figure out that this was a built-in rollout depending on how
Noah Gray is blocking this guy it looks like it is it looks like he's jumping outside so
then you can keep him on the move. So this is a front out, right? Should be play action there.
Look at the cell. I mean, you get both of these guys. That's what happens when you get Kenneth Walker.
So it is an actual sprint out. Yeah, I just, I think you don't understand how much harder that is
than you think to throw this type of ball on the move when you are a little gimpy and you're running full speed.
I just, I love the play call. I love.
everything about it. It's really nice. Right? The Indian shirt you got to this 10 thinks it's a
run bluff block get the heck out of the way. Xavier worthy Rishi Rice right here is for the love of
the game route. I shot by number 10 coming back and blocking a defensive end who's got free.
That should not be the case. Over top 90 over top the defender. All right play 24 of the game.
We've already had all those highlights in the first five plays. That's 24. Play 24. Play 24.
the game. See what it is. Oh man, this is the interception. How unlucky do you have to be?
Just not a great, not a great throw. But a couple things here. You're going to have Xavier
Worthy all the way out to the field. You're going to motion him in. He's going to be the corner
route, so it's scissors, and then he's going to be the post route. I mean, this is the old school
Doug Flutty play. It's called Flutie. Drew Brees used to run it. Doug Flutty made it popular
with the chargers.
You're going to read one.
Something to the flat is two.
And then you're going to get back here as number three on the deep in route.
16 to 18 yards called the dagger, whatever you want it to do.
But I like that as a two by two formation.
But they're putting the three receiver side down here, meaning the back.
As soon as Mahomes knows it's going to this like invert cover two.
So what they're trying to do, they're trying to trick them.
You can't trick Mahomes.
right this backside safety goes back to the half this inside safety drops down this nickel goes to where
the corner is and this corner goes back to the half field safety so can't trick him understands it oh by
the way you're bringing pressure as well you can't trick him if he has one more hitch you know here
here's that and then here's that he knows exactly where to go this just isn't a great thrill can't
have this happen but also oh just like
like the worst luck ever let's watch how quickly my homes gets to it they're going to end up bringing here
they're rolling everyone they're trying to trick trick them they can't do it right he gets back to the
exact side you want to be uncovered too and this is open i feel like he gets pressure
um a little bit sees you know i think that's creed humphrey getting pushed back 70s doing absolutely
nothing uh but that's that's exactly where to go when they blitz the middle of the field is where you
want to go he gets back there i'm not i don't know i don't
think he was trying to throw with the Kelsey. And I don't think that Rishi Rice was supposed to sit,
but the ball pops right up in the air. I mean, could it be any worse? Seriously, so he's got a little
sit route, end up pressuring. That's where you want to go. Yo, I don't love the mechanics right here
by my homes. One, two, three, four, five, hitch, hit. Ball just comes out really weird.
Misses that throw for sure. Pops up in the air. No, that's a word.
nightmare for a quarterback go tackle him someone get them Kelsey got juked oh man good return to
what are we doing oh where where they got them all right next play third nine back in their end zone
oh this is the one where they called well first of all this is where they called the uh roughing the passer
a couple things here um let's just watch in here watch this ref and watch when he starts getting his
He's already got the hand on the flag.
Like, man, he called that early.
We'll get to that on the back view.
Here's another play too.
They end up bringing pressure from the nickel.
They get to the cover two.
Don't love what happened here because I think that's, is that Rishi Rice?
Let's just double.
Let's just replay it.
Yeah, that's Rishi Rice.
So Rish Rice should be running a middle read,
which means you have a post route versus two high safety look,
and you have a basic cross versus everything else.
Cover 2 is the only time you're running this, any other coverage you're running this.
It looks like it's double out routes that should convert versus cloud coverage.
Rishiris sees the nickel pressure.
They don't, they don't, they don't hot route these.
And this is what Mahomes is seeing, and he throws an absolute dime as he's getting smoked.
If Rishol Rice just runs, that's where Mahomes is throwing the football.
Mahomes are getting smoked and still throws a football like this.
First of all, catch the ball.
Second ball, run the right route.
all right so that that's the fact that he's able to throw that and he decides to throw that down the middle fill as he's getting hit
that's another thing all right so here's what you're going to have to you can't have 65 simple t you can't have
him miss this like there's where the back is you have to set inside knowing you're going to get someone in the
b gap i mean he's starting to pull the flag right there i think the way he's like body slams him i know he tries to
take off his weight but i think that's absolutely
in my opinion
I'm a quarterback though
I think that's roughing the passer for sure
How about this throw though?
Maybe we'll see it better from this view
Yeah we'll see it better
Watch this ref
Let's see how quickly
He pulls the flag out
So that's a little bit
That's a little bit weird
Already going to it
Already going to it
Right
He's pulling for it already
That's crazy
Like the flag is out
Before he even finishes the act
he ends up calling it.
I think he may have called a different penalty.
I don't know, but it's a little crazy to me
because there's a guy who protects the quarterback.
So interesting call.
I think he was probably calling something else.
But how about this throw?
Time.
All right, three more plays.
Kelsey's all the way out there.
Does this nice little patented walk-in motion.
Now you've got a two-by-two formation.
All right.
Now they're starting to pressure because they need the ball back.
Let's move to our left.
I mean, what?
You can trust Noah Gray to run this and going to your left.
This is an absolute dime.
Back shoulder route.
This isn't even part of the, this isn't even part of the reed.
You have a wheel route.
You have a post route and you're trying to get Xavier Worthy on this overrout.
This is what they ran time and time again.
That's an alert.
I guess he loves it because it's a backer.
And then you're going to throw to Worthy on the deep cross.
But man, going out that way, you're having Kelsey come over here and slide.
I don't know what he's seeing, but I think he's trusting Noah Graymore.
And I love this throw.
Like, you can't throw this football.
Dude, any better.
Crazy.
Watch it from this to you.
Heck of it.
I mean, for him to get all the way out there, too, look at what he's doing.
What's he saying?
He's alert, alert, alert, and he's giving something to the running back.
Fist, fist, fist, right?
So Kelsey's going to be on the slide.
Worthy's going to be there.
This dude just is for an alert.
I guess he loves the matchup.
he's already looking over here that the safety's blitz in
that's crazy
this dime
look at him peak too before
look QB Vision on this guy
is he playing wide or is he not? That's just next level
quarterback play dude
and then the throw
it's a good sign if no gray can continue to step up
man get up man that's awesome
how about that
guarantee they didn't work than that practice
lure alert
got the slide route
the peak is even better from this view.
You're just seeing, hey, what's he doing?
Is he coming right at me?
Or is he playing upfield?
You got Kelsey almost as like a blocker to run interference.
And then 83, the back shoulder fade.
When no one's looking, man, throw that thing.
All right, here you go.
They're alert, alert, alluring it.
See how much under center?
These are the big plays for them.
Under center, play action pass,
Rishi stepping up.
They killed them with this second level stuff.
You just want it's it's cover three right deep thirds you want to affect these four underneath defenders
You don't want them to get to their drops because you're trying to run this for she rice over top
Rishie Rice and Xavier Worthy are the two receivers and 12 personnel
And they're crushing it nice job stepping up just finding another hole I mean these things
You can't write these things man these are these are sweet
Right fist fist means we're faking it
Boom boom he's like which side are we going he taps his butt for the right
these guys are the work like they're they should not be dropping right there like you get you just
try to affect this hook curl that's why they're bringing kelsey right there and just trying to
overtop them stepping up looking it's like wide open it's like high school ball all right next play
right here one two three boom boom Kelsey man first of all homes get absolutely smoked
Kelsey gets his touchdown unbelievable truly
Like this is so good on so many different levels.
You're really running an out route, a stop, and a corner,
and you just want to flood this side of the field
as much as you possibly can.
One, two, three, left tackle.
What are we doing?
Why are we getting smoked?
Look at him.
He's doing this because he wants to, right, right at this guy
to make him go down knowing he's going to throw to Kelsey
because he's got leverage on the safety.
This is the way you manipulate defenses.
you know he's going to get hurt
you know he's going to get hit
but 12 personnel
corner
you get Kenneth Walker right there sitting down
this is so good
I love this way one two three
this is the one that should have been called
I don't know if it was or not because I wasn't watching
but my gosh
you get smoked
and Mahomes look
he's watching the back video board down there for a touchdown
I love that look the chiefs are the chiefs man
three and oh big game
versus the Raiders, but if Kelsey and Mahomes can get on the same level dude like this,
along a Rishi Rice, they're going to be a problem.
Hey guys, thank you so much for watching the breakdown.
