I wonder how we did on the 10 things.
I kind of can't remember the 10 games that we picked against.
Cump, how do we do?
Put me on the spot there.
The 10 games that they picked against for the Fandul promo.
Promote them one of the greatest promos ever.
I know last week I was like three for 10.
I know.
I think Josh is like.
Yeah, but we can go through them live if you want.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, let's go through them live.
Let's go through them live.
All right, here we go.
Awesome slate of college football.
Yeah, I did have a solid week on the lot from our picks.
If someone could look up the results.
Will picked Oklahoma, so you lost that one.
Taylorhead, Michigan.
Oh, quick time, quick time.
For pick them, you have to pick the spread.
That's, Cody must have picked for me.
Somebody must have picked for me.
I'm going to take that lie at Facebook.
I'm just going to look at it and pretend like that never happened.
That's like walking in on your girl.
and just being like, I didn't see nothing.
Or guaranteeing the win for Michigan.
It's like a couple weeks ago when we were at LSU Clemson,
I walked up to you pregame and I said,
I just locked LSU minus 10 and a half
because I just took Clemson plus seven and a half.
Remember that moment?
I don't know, I don't.
I don't.
But also, hey, all good.
At the end of the day, the result is what I wanted.
And I did compliment Will at my kid's birthday party.
I was like, I think you did the best job you possibly could
of not believing in Michigan, but also like supporting me this entire week.
And I think that's a big time growth for Will.
So actually, first clap of the day for Will Compton supporting his boy.
That's growth.
That's growth.
And we'll take that.
Sorry, Oklahoma, go ahead.
Payte also had Oklahoma.
So you and Pete started Owen, Will.
Taylor's 1 and 0.
You all had Arizona State plus 14 and a half.
Tough.
Tough pick.
You all had Kentucky plus 10 and a half.
Tough pick.
You all had Illinois.
Minus five and a half.
Top big.
Don't think.
Okay.
Okay.
Taylor and Will both had Minnesota minus a half.
Hey,
biggest mystery of the weekend.
Biggest mystery of the weekend.
Taylor,
you had Arizona plus seven and a half.
Will,
you had BYU.
Nice.
Nice.
Yes, sir.
Yes, sir.
First win.
This one's for Jackie Boy here.
You both had Tennessee to cover 12 and a half.
Yes, sir.
Let's go,
sir.
That was an easy boy.
Josh did not.
You both had.
Texas.
Okay.
All right.
They didn't cover it.
They didn't cover it.
Trust me,
bro.
I see yes.
And then I'm thinking,
why did we just go money line on that?
It gets worse.
You both had Iowa to cover 13 and a half.
They did not.
It was 13 to 10, right?
Yeah.
Okay.
And you both had Utah to cover 12 and a half against Arkansas.
So,
so.
Oh yeah,
we got that one now.
We got that one.
I think I'm here three for 10 again.
Here's what we've learned with college football pick them.
Like,
if you're a fan of the fan of college football,
like sounds like a friend of,
split of $500,000.
There's no guarantees. We might get hot eventually, but
if we're bad 30%, that's only good in baseball.
Last week's winners split, like they all got $1,900 in bonus.
Are you serious?
Yeah, that's insane.
That's because we're getting beat by too many people.
No, so that one is, they take like just who's done the best.
So maybe you go 10 for 10 or 9 for 10.
Whoever's in that top pool, they get the split of the 500K.
If you just beat us, so if you're four for 10 against,
a spread, you're going to get a profit boost token because you beat one of us or all of us?
Yes.
No, you just beat one of us.
Every week you just got to beat Will or Taylor and you get a profit boost token.
So four, I'm three for ten, both weeks.
Like you want a free profit boost token.
You go to Fando and pick against a spread.
And that is for free.
You're not even wagering any money.
Consistency is absolutely key.
Obviously, our week two is in the books.
Yeah.
Amazing weekend of football.
We absolutely loved it.
I see on the top, it's Oklahoma, Michigan.
Do we want to start there?
Do we want to go to Oregon, Oklahoma State?
Texas Ohio State?
Texas Ohio State?
Like there's a lot of good ball.
How about Arch Manning having a moment?
And how about Wilcompton calling that moment on Friday?
I know.
I wish it would have been perfect.
Both quarterbacks have the ball in their hand
with the opportunity to win the game
and I see Arch Manning doing that.
It was a good blanket like,
at the end of the game it's going to be close
and then some guy's going to win.
The moment is ready for Archmanning.
But the way you said it, he dialed it in, dude.
Fourth and nine, fourth and six?
Like that is that is nuts
Like everybody is high
Like everybody's super high
Like AP poll
Everybody's got Texas
Number one team of the country
Number one team of the country
Number one team of the country
And then Sark too
The way he handled the post game
And he's like you don't win the game
By doing that
Like he was riding high after
Was it Holly Row?
He just body bagged to her poor lady
I feel bad
I feel bad about that
I felt bad for her because he also
It seemed like
I don't know if he big dog did have time
No I saw the one
Ruttledge was like
No he waited patiently
he did fine.
They had a technical difficulty
and he waited really got you.
It sounds like yeah,
it sounds like the similar situation
at the end of the game
where he was just too hyped up, huh?
I mean, I heard people saying like,
was he assuming that
the technical issue was not fixed yet?
I saw people saying that
I'm probably talking out of my ass.
I don't know.
I feel like that was just Sark being.
You got the images
of missed halftime
rolled out on Holly
and then also one where he's
berating that dude,
the clip I know, I know he hates it
and I know he probably hates it.
A massive shout out.
All those things in your hands.
I love that Holly did not like mask any of her emotion after that was probably my
favorite by saying right now I'll hear her own up we'll see you later and she just
like mother this yeah she was pissed off about it where it's like yeah Holly talk your
shit dude I get it you're trying to do a job he runs away from you the whole thing
yeah but still man that is that's awesome the archmanning people are gonna talk about
how great he did I know his stat line wasn't incredible but how about those two
running backs for Texas them
running the ball, 100 rush yards in the second half.
That biggest issue we talked about in the futures in the locker room, who answered
the questions in the offseason about themselves?
I think Texas can feel pretty good about the fact that they answered their run issues.
They can run the ball.
They're more balanced.
Arch is just going to keep doing this as the season goes on.
That's a huge win for them.
I do feel like them winning that game because, again, you sit there talking about how
ugly they played in the first half with the Cam Coleman, that interception was crazy.
Ryan Wingo not catching the bread basket.
Yeah.
Yeah, that is just nuts.
But getting that win, especially at the end of the third one, it's 23 to 3,
and you come back and win that game as emotional as it was,
people kind of storming the field, like, as high as they are
and arch winning in that fashion, I feel like it's something that has unlocked there at Texas.
To where they can just get rolling now.
I'm not like, I know everybody's got them, number one team in the country.
I'm not fully there yet because they have just a tough schedule,
but that win right there against Ohio State
is kind of the one that they needed
where it's like the monkeys off the back
now they can have all this confidence, all this juice
look at the fourth quarter and say,
guys, we bid off this dude,
we're going to beat everybody this year.
You can see like the pressure
just coming off of all of them.
Like the way Stark handled himself,
arch running around,
like he's always been more of a stoke,
calmer guy, at least it seems like on the field.
The way he handled this post-game press conference,
he's just beaming.
He's beaming with energy
because he knows that a lot of the haters
happen saying, oh, he does good against the inferior teams.
Oh, he only kicked it up with the last part of the year.
Now he goes and handles business the way he did in the second half of that game is absolutely big time.
Against a team that has Matt Patricia as their defense coordinator,
he's a guy that makes the best halftime adjustments and they made better halftime adjustments.
Because they handled that situation better than them, which is incredible.
Not, but like, you know, Ohio State, we can get to them in a second.
Go ahead.
I was going to say in the third quarter, too, you know, everybody's sinking.
And it's like, fuck, this does not look good.
Like, Sark, is this where everybody starts thinking,
could something happen?
Not could something happen in the middle of the year,
but when you're down 20 and it looks the way it was looking,
you're just like, yo, Sark is fully in the egg gap.
Like he might not survive throughout the end of the year.
Because everybody in Texas, you know, like, boosters, whoever is just like,
yo, we're not even fucking competing right now.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's been kind of our whole conversation the whole year is like all the money,
the egos of Texas, the brand of Texas, the expectation of Texas, everything that comes with
having the long horn on the side of your helmet, that first half, it's either, hey, Ohio State
is the clear-cut best team in the country and no one's even close to them or Sark has not gotten
his guys ready.
To the end of the third, again, 23-3 at the end of the third.
It's like everybody's sitting up there in the press box, Texas fans, everybody's like,
yo, there's going to be some hard conversations that have to take place after this game.
Yes.
and it's just you're happy for them
and I mean if you're not a Michigan fan
you're gutted for Ohio State
because now there's a bunch of
all the old narratives about Ryan Day are starting to come up
where people are like guy he gets the yips
can't win it and it's like that
sitting here as a guy that went to Michigan
does not like Ohio State
makes no sense to me there's an argument out there like
oh Ohio State's down they've lost three of their last four
and it's like okay the three games you lost to
was argue with the best roster in college football this year
which is Texas they be
Beat ball state, K, you're gonna beat them.
You lost to Miami who was in the national championship
and you lost to Indiana who won the national championship.
Like there's, that's still a damn good football team.
If we learned anything about Ryan Day and his teams,
when they do lose, that's when the next,
your next five opponents at the very least
are going to get throttled.
Yeah, both teams might have unlocked infinity stones.
Yes.
That is tough.
I saw two, a friend of the show,
friend of Buss with the boys, Kurt Benkirt,
had a tweet two kind of,
saying this is Arthur Smith.
Can you pull up his tweet?
I know and I just put, hey, hey, hey, hey.
And he's like, I know that you're boy,
but getting a little too conservative
at the end of the game, run, run pass.
They've also had multiple drops
in the second half that would have iced the game,
finish it off.
And I'm thinking, too, like,
Ohio State was running the ball very well
throughout the entire game.
Yeah.
Texas just bowed up there at the end,
but it's a little bit of the fodder of Arthur Smith
and his play calling at the end of the game.
Do you feel, hey, I'll just ask you to like.
I don't, I don't think it's,
here's, oh, go ahead.
I was just going to say,
say you've been on the offensive line you've been you played for arthur smith as an oc like is he
somebody who gets conservative when you guys have the game kind of wrapped up or you're up in the
game i don't i don't know if i've ever i remember being really upset that we got away from the run
in the aFC championship in 2019 but that was more like emotions flaring up at the fact that i thought
we were going to go the super bowl and we didn't but if you're going to argue about arthur smith like
ryan day is a great offensive play caller all right ryan day is a great offensive play caller all right
been in these situations, he understands the clock, all those things.
And so I think if Arthur was showing a level of being conservative in his play calling,
Ryan Day being the head coach would have said something to him.
Because there was a couple drops that they had that if they, you know, didn't have those
drops, they're pulling away from that game and they're taking over and there is no chance for
them to come back.
So I think as much as we overreacted in week one, week two, it's a little less.
However, there's still overreactions taking place.
if you're going to point a finger anywhere
and I'm not even saying we should
but just for the sake of the show
it's pointing out what you said
is Texas ran the ball
not just on the perimeter like running outside
but they ran through the teeth
of Ohio State's defense to where you go
okay yeah they're great
and they've had what 15 defensive draft picks
in the last two years so set a record
I think Alabama was like 12 and 13
maybe the defense
isn't the number one defense they were last year
and they didn't have like all
they don't have a bunch of first round picks
sitting there
That's kind of where my brain goes.
We can point fingers that the offense had a great lead,
and maybe we ran it too much.
But being able to run the ball as effectively as Texas did in the second half,
when you're up and the momentum's on your side,
all the things to not be able to stand up.
It's one thing if you're wearing them down,
but they started taking chunks on that defense,
in the middle of that defense.
In Ohio State defensively, again,
awesome, unbelievable conversions by Archmanning and the Texas offense,
but you had them fourth and sixth, fourth and nine, too.
Yeah, which is.
just the ballziest moved by Sark.
Yeah.
That was a full like do or die.
Like I know I'm in the A gap
and I have to do something now
and he pulled it out of his ass.
Yeah.
Because that was unbelievable, dude.
It was a great game.
It was a great game.
I think, um.
Hey, first half too.
You know, you hear your boy say it in the,
whether it's first quarter say, in the first half.
You're down there.
They could have kicked, they could have got three more points
where they went forward on fourth down and didn't get it.
Ohio State.
It's like, buddy, take the three.
What is with the kicker?
Yeah.
What is going on with that, man?
And like, dude,
do you guys remember in 2015
when Michigan and Michigan State were playing
the punter botched that snap
and they got the ball?
Yeah.
I was with the Titans then,
but like death threats.
That is, you know, a blue blood school.
Ohio State is a blue blood school.
That kid, like you said, had death threats.
The long snapper, the punter,
death threats, everyone hated them.
To the point they had a transatlux.
They need to leave and get out of there.
Like this kid's probably dealing with something similar to that right now with Ohio State fans.
How much when that type of stuff happens?
It's not you want it even got the three when they should have kicked it.
It's just crazy, man.
It is absolutely nuts, the passion that comes into college football.
But that's what that poor boy is waking up today and he's not a good play.
We're not in a good mental headspace if you're in Ohio State kicker right now.
Yeah, yeah.
Who's Ohio State's next big matchup?
do they play Indiana
they got a I mean Ohio State's got one of the hardest schedules this year
Hey is this a moment too where it's like could they
Will brought this up on the way to the Hall of Fame
is like I see a world where Ohio State has three losses
or two losses going into some of the days preseason
where I'm like man I know Ohio State's good
but they could also be a team that drops three this year
Zoom a little more I mean yeah
at Indiana at USC
Oregon will get to them
in a second.
At Iowa.
You're not just going to walk into Kinnick, bro.
You're not going to walk in a Kinnock.
You're not going to walk in the Kinnock.
There'll be a lot of punty in that game
or gossip how good your offense is.
Arthur Smith, though, he does not have
recent history going on his side.
So I think you have a hard schedule.
Things could get loud for him if he does not
figure it out because at the Falcons he didn't have success
and at the Steelers he didn't have success.
And then that is what Ohio State
fans are feeling as they watch an offense.
JP,
I'm an Atlanta Falcons fan.
Yeah, you're just saying the obvious.
Right.
And he knows that.
He knows that better than anybody.
Yeah.
But that's a hard October coming down the pipe.
The hard part is Arthur Smith listens to this show and he is going to reach out about
that comment you just made.
The reality is, it's true.
Anytime,
he said,
if bad things happen, people are going to pull back the curtain on what you've done
in your career.
Falcons didn't get done.
Steelers, unfortunately, didn't get it done.
And now it's like, okay, is this what's going to happen to us?
Yeah, everybody needs the one thing that kind of like, this is the reason why.
But Ohio State's sitting there today.
Like we're recording right now on Monday.
Like they're watching all of the opportunities they left on the field.
Yeah, absolutely.
Being up 20 points like that was, when I'm checking the ESPN tracker 2 on percentage of when,
I want to say it was as high as Ohio State 99% at the end of the third.
No way.
Yeah.
God.
Ohio State, man.
I feel bad for Kent State.
Holy shit.
Do I feel bad for Kent State?
This too, because a lot of polls are dropping.
But Ohio State being number one in the AP poll last week and falling to six.
I don't get it.
Texas is going up to one.
It's like it was a one point win, a fourth quarter battle.
How does Ohio State drop out of the top five on the AP poll?
I know why they're out of the top five on Willie C's top 25 pole.
Yeah, I love for you.
I never had a number one.
I love for you to break that down as well.
I, dude, I think we were talking about it earlier,
I just feel like the AP because of what happened in the college football playoffs.
and how the bracket went down
and how the Notre Dame and Texas
and Vanderbilt and all these schools
that could have been in but weren't.
They're doing these big corrections
that are taking place and I think
I mean Ohio State falling to six is one thing
but Texas jumping up as well
I don't understand why it has to be so dramatic.
Just a clear cut number one.
A clear cut number one out of nowhere.
Like George has been taking care of business.
Notre Dame what the first quarter
first you know 20 minutes of the Wisconsin game
me like, oh, who are they?
And then they've just took off and done their thing.
Indiana has not slowed down at all to the point where like,
we could kind of feel foolish about being like,
no, they can't do it again.
And now like Hoover's rolling, they're putting points on everybody.
Miami, 900 yards of offense last week against, you know,
doesn't matter who it's against.
900s.
It's a lot.
That's a conditioning test.
That's brutal.
And then Ohio State,
I mean,
you lost that game by one point.
You dominated that game for three quarters.
And all of a sudden,
you dropped five points.
that's kind of that is that is very wild to me how dramatic it is
talk to him Keisha
I heard myself going
mm-hmm
keep cooking Keesha
well
you had Nebraska in top 25
oh yeah the my top 25 poll
yeah I got the Huskers
Nebraska's 25 you had Michigan at 24
yeah like Michigan
Michigan was out like they were like a bottom half
and going into my
going to my and I have my criteria as well
But Michigan was kind of like bottom half in the week one.
And then obviously the week one against Western Michigan, they were outside.
They were a little outside my top 25 ball.
Then they have an awesome win against Oklahoma.
Oklahoma tough football team.
Oklahoma, I still have at 15 because I think that's a tough football.
It's a good ball club.
It's a good ball club.
So I have them getting back in.
They're number 24.
They went on my list of 24.
I thought in the regular AP, Oklahoma dropped a little too much as well.
I mean, there was a lot of overreact.
Oregon going down to 21.
it's just there's a lot of
dramatic movement taking place
one thing that actually my favorite placement
for you right now is Mississippi State at 21
I love that
Camaro Taylor man
because I'm also sitting now
I'm like the South Carolina Mick and Willie C's top 25
they got a great opportunity this weekend
because that's going to be a fun game
Mississippi State South Carolina
that's a fun game
maybe the most fun game of the weekend
who would have thought like going into week three
South Carolina Mississippi State's going to be
arguably the funnest game of the sleep
yes
I don't think a lot of people would have said that.
People didn't know about Camaro Taylor and Lenora Sellers.
I'm telling you got to go to run game two going on, JP.
So Cody and I were talking about,
like, Camario Taylor is what everybody started to feel about Lenore Sellers in 2024.
Yeah.
And so Camaro Taylor has that buzz.
And he's super talented.
The way he handled his post game too in Minneapolis was perfect.
They beat the shit out of Minnesota.
I completely misread that.
I thought Minnesota was a better discipline team.
They were going to make things happen.
run game they're going to slow it down versus a very fast Mississippi state team and Camaro
Taylor handled business but even when they talked to him in the post game they're like he's like
I could handle this play better this turnover here wasn't good enough he's like instead of being like
look how great I'm he's highlighting the things that were bad and it's like this dude is he's got
it up top he's seen enough he's seen a bunch of people follow where he's like I yeah I'm going to
handle this the correct way and then tells everybody have a blessed day as he walks off it's like
oh my god just get handled me handling it perfect right now
He's handling it perfect
Dude
And can I ask you something though?
Go ahead
What's your reaction to the
To my top 25
Because there's a lot of negative reaction
Which I understand
You put a list in front of people
Irrational college football fan
We're all irrational
Nobody knows
Zoom in for me
Because you know how it is
People got to get used to your criteria too
They gotta get used to my criteria
My favorite part of Will's criteria
Was I told you all this already
It felt like Will was writing the tweet
Without thinking about the tweet
And just putting like different things
over and over again
I just kept going.
I love this.
I'm going to do one next week.
Georgia at one, don't mind it.
You flip one or two for me, no problem.
I like Texas.
Yeah, I like Texas.
I would switch Indiana and Ohio State.
Because I think if you look at Texas and Ohio State or Texas and,
excuse me, Ohio State and Indiana,
you would still put Ohio State above Indiana as far as how the Big Ten rankings go.
I do more of a nod of respect to the former national champions.
Fair enough.
Because I feel really good about.
the top six.
To me those are the outfits.
We're going to get to find out this weekend,
LSU Ole Miss,
but those are great teams.
Texas Tech I would have a little bit lower.
Tennessee I would have a little bit lower.
Tennessee?
Yeah.
Dark Horse in the SEC.
I probably have like Oregon
probably in that 17-18 range.
I like,
Michigan, I understand why Michigan's at 24
because they were out.
They were out last week.
Nebraska, I think, is just funny.
Yeah, I like the huskish.
We saw it.
One game in time.
I don't want to buy it so hard.
I know.
I like BYU.
And I think the way Texas Tech's been playing, like Big 12 is a little more open than we think of this.
Big 12 is a little more open.
It is like Texas Tech.
Utah, BYU, Houston.
It's all kind of like maybe there's really a tier instead of just one.
Yeah.
I have tech there.
They haven't performed the best in the first two weeks.
To me, I'm of the belief that they're going to get it roll and they're going to figure it out.
They're a little protected with their schedule throughout the entire year.
So that's kind of why I had them going in because from 10 to, I mean, really, I'll just say 25.
I'm not saying that because Nebraska's in there.
But from 10 on, it's kind of just such a crapshoot right now.
Like people are pissed that I have Alabama and A&M so low.
I think like I'm not buying it.
I think they're a little overrated right now.
Cody or any guys in the back, any immediate reactions with the top 25 list?
Like you share the reaction of the internet?
Are you looking at it?
It's like, oh, that's a massive overreaction to the top 25.
I like that there's some volatility in it this year.
It seems like the voters are penalizing teams more for losing.
But I think the SEC is showing, again, we talked about the Big Ten being dead last week.
You proclaim that it was dead.
But this stat, non-conference records versus power four teams, SEC is 8 and 2.
ACC is 5 and 6
Big 12 is 4 and 6
Big 10 is 3 and 7
And even when I'm going through the top 25
Because there's a lot of teams
I was like trying to want to sneak in there as well
Like I like all of these football teams
And then when I'm looking at the list
I'm like yo the SEC is fucking deep this year
It's big
Yeah I think the argument for the who the best conference is
When people talk about depth
They're winning that argument big time right now
Oh yeah
They're running it up right now
They're running up right now
Georgia at one I just don't
George is fucking tough
and nobody's talking about some Gunner Stockton right now
George is tough and they
They yeah
That's what you want to see when you play like bad teams
I just want to see them dominate
And they just do
They're up by 60 at one point I believe
Penn State OU is an interesting one for me
Oklahoma still being up there
Yeah because Oklahoma
Because Oklahoma lost to an unranked team
Yeah
Yeah
That's like that's the thing where it's like
I would put them a little bit lower
Yeah
I know
But I am of the stance that I don't think Michigan should have been unranked after week one.
Like you got like you won the game.
Wasn't great.
Didn't look good.
But we were like what?
17, 18, 19?
In that category,
high teens.
Like I see is getting like 21,
21 through 25 range after that Western Michigan game.
But if you're going to drop a set out of top 25 and then we beat Oklahoma who's 11,
it's like,
all right,
you should put dead in the 20s.
Yeah.
You know?
Like if I had the stats back you up too because it was the first time in like 30 years.
that a ranked team won and was dropped out of the AP.
Right.
I'm trying to like, I feel like that wasn't bias.
I am clearly biased towards Michigan,
but having Michigan in like that 23 to 25 range
felt more appropriate.
And then Oklahoma shouldn't have been
probably more in the 15 range if that was the case.
But the reality is they lost to an unranked team,
which is very interesting.
Very interesting.
Like OU last week would have been in my top 10.
I drop them because they lost a one-score game on the road
against Michigan who is in their most got-a-havit spot of basically all-time.
All-time. Of all time.
Let's get back to Game Zone.

Middle school is a different world than the one we grew up in.
I'm Dr. Joy, and this is therapy for black girls.
We spend real time on it in our surviving middle school run,
bringing in a child psychologist and a psychiatrist
who's raising two black girls of his own
to talk about what's really going on with our kids right now.
So it's literally physiological and neurological and psychological and psychological chaos happening all of this same job.
We got into group chats and gaming, friendships and bullies,
and how to tell the difference between healthy monitoring and the kind of surveillance that a roads trust.
There's belonging. You could think of belonging as I can be myself and I can still be accepted.
And then there's fitting in. Spitting in says I have to change who I am in order to avoid rejection.
Then we turn the conversation toward the fathers, sitting down with therapists Keer Gaines on Black fatherhood and what it means to raise a daughter through this stage.
You don't have on shorts so you can't do flips. You have on the dress. You have to cross your legs.
That's the range of this run, from screen time to identity to the father's doing the work at home.
You have to get off her device.
But the reality is there's a lot of life out there that we don't want you as your adults in their life to miss out on.
This has been our surviving middle school run.

Self-Care September is here, which may be.
it's time to rethink what self-care actually means. Yes, self-care can be a long walk. It can be
in everything's shower. It can be putting your phone on, do not disturb, but sometimes it's actually
about sitting with the uncomfortable stuff and understanding your patterns, your boundaries,
finally figuring out while you keep doing things that you swore you would never do again.
I'm Gemma Spag, the host of the Psychology of Your 20s podcast, and each week we unpack the psychology
behind the experiences that shape your 20s, from relationships and friendships to money and
anxiety, confidence, attachment, just becoming more comfortable with who you are.
Unlike the quarter life crisis, which is depicted as the collapse, the quarter life
reinvention is the expansion and growth of something.
When we develop the ability to be happy by ourselves, nobody else can take that from you.
So this self-care September, don't just take care of yourself.
Get to know yourself as well.

Let's break down Oklahoma, Michigan.
Do you want to break down Oklahoma, Michigan?
Okay.
Listen,
Brent Venable's defense is unreal.
I think John Mateer is getting a lot of,
I think he's getting some criticism that is okay,
but he's not as bad as people are saying he is at this moment.
I agree with that.
I don't think he was put in very advantageous situations.
He held the ball longer,
gave a lot of credit to Michigan's secondary.
Like, they ran man coverage pretty much the entire game.
Yeah.
Other than like one or two series,
and those two series is when you saw Oklahoma have their best offensive series.
I think that defensive line from Michigan,
we can sit here and go,
that's a damn good defensive line.
And then Jason Beck,
the way he called that game on the offensive side of the ball
was the perfect game plan to have a struggling quarterback be successful.
So I am over the moon about that.
I was going to say if you're Oklahoma too,
like they kind of stopped running the football a little bit in the second half,
John Mateer, like he, they started marching down field those couple series where they got back in the game.
But Michigan did.
Like, I think a lot of the credit is to Michigan secondary.
Like when I'm watching the film and kind of seeing how John Mater, he did struggle as far as accuracy goes,
putting it in the frame, putting it in the right spots.
And Michigan basically challenged him to win that game against main coverage.
Because when you look at Mateer, when he is trying to scan the field, Michigan's defense just did a hell of a job covering every day.
They're always in the right spot.
And you kind of have to force a good throw with Mateer.
and that's what kind of stuck out
is just Mateer's accuracy
because you're right
it's like I think some of the criticism
is legit
it's merited
but also the dude's not near
as bad as what everybody's
kind of talking about I'm being right now
yeah I like making those difficult
throws are one thing
the biggest thing that I would criticize
I mean this clip by the way
that you're playing right now
like John Matt's a football player
John Matier
that's a football player
gets up and he's like
feeling himself only to be called
for a holding penalty
sloppy game by the way
we can get that in a second
I think John Matier
needs to do a better job of having something a clock in his head of I need to get out of the
pocket at this point because there was a lot of times he's holding the ball and he's just
sitting in the pocket and those defensive ends were just absolutely destroying the
tackles yeah there were times or you guys were bringing four just four consistently and they
were handling business in the trenches so as a Michigan fan like you walk away from that game
and you think we made the right the made the right call from a head coach standpoint we love
our defense, like you, like, we're always going to overreact in the early parts of the season,
but you think to yourself, oh, we're going to be in every single football game. It's just a matter
of can our offense start to do this as the season goes. One against UTT, this week, we need to
see development from Bryce from a passing standpoint. Our running backs got to get going. We have to
win a little bit more in the office's, office line in the trenches. But like, you're feeling
very optimistic with a gauntlet of the schedule, going against a team like Oklahoma,
and essentially beating them at their own game. And that was,
that it was massive dude it was huge Michigan was in a an extremely fragile position going
this year we felt it when we landed in Ann Arbor during the show you could feel fan base is very
uncomfortable a lot of Oklahoma fans came in they were all they took over in Arbor and it kind of
felt like if that game win as bad as you can go from a standpoint of John Materer's the guy everyone
thought he was their defense is killing us their offices is operating they got better in the run game
if it goes to a double-digit win to Oklahoma that's where
we're in a horrible headspace if you're a Michigan fan.
But too many penalties, go ahead.
I was going to say thinking that that was a bad matchup for Michigan
because they're both very similar teams.
Turned out to be that's the matchup you guys kind of needed.
Yeah.
To get over the,
because you still come out of it.
Like I get that optimism is kind of there.
Like you still need to see some things trend that way.
But coming out of it, it's like,
did you see what you wanted to see out of Bryce Underwood?
I think that's still very much.
known. Like he ran the ball better, but as far as through the air, like, that's still a massive
question mark. How did you guys play? Because when we were talking about on a Friday in the show,
I was saying that, hey, third down, third down, did you guys perform well on third down? I think
you were still three for 13 or four for 13. And then obviously, did you play a clean football game?
Still what? You guys had. Ten penalties for over 100 yards.
Ten penalties. Still a highly penalized football team. Balls on the ground twice.
Defense needed to show up and make a play. Like, they didn't score for you, but that one at
the end where a old buddy picks it off and takes it to the goal line you guys get a touch on out of
that one defense showed up massively but again I think all of those same question marks are
still there because when you look at Oklahoma offensively they kind of got away from the
run a little bit they challenged material that played in their favor yep and then also like
Oklahoma was very penalized as well and like to me Michigan was great at getting to midfield
and then playing the special teams game as far as punting it because Oklahoma started it
inside their own 20 like six times inside their own five a couple times like you
It was just a well team fought win for Michigan.
But again, it's like I come out of it still thinking the same things about Michigan
and it kind of just went their way a little bit more against Oklahoma.
Yeah, I can understand why you got to that.
I think the biggest thing, you're playing against Oklahoma,
which is probably one of, if not the best defense in college football.
Like they are top to bottom.
They're extremely talented, well coached and have a lot of productivity.
So if we were going to that game thinking Bryce needs to throw for $2.50,
a couple of touchdowns and run for 100 yards.
That's not the end of the game to do it.
The things you take away from it from an optimistic standpoint is make great decisions with the football.
When he dropped back to pass, it wasn't staring down in receivers.
He looked and actually tried to read the coverage that was going on, made some really good
throws, extended plays, and made the correct reads in the run game for when he needed to pull
the ball and take it.
Clearly, there's a couple things with the young running back Savion Hyder that was interesting
enough, Whittingham talked about going into halftime.
And then in the third quarter, it's like, oh, it was a fourth quarter.
It's like, I got to have a type of situation.
Third and four, and Hider comes across.
The guy, the reading, goes with Hider and he goes to pull it, but Hider takes the ball.
I saw that because Bryce reacted like, dog.
Yeah, yeah, because if you look at the back view, like, Bryce might have been 88 and out the
gate.
From a throwing standpoint, I get it.
Like, he threw the ball, what, 17 times?
But it was never going to be that game.
and if you see there was one play
or it ended up being a 15-yard penalty
to Andrew Marsh down the field.
He rolls out, extends the play just a little bit.
I think it was designed for him to roll out to the right.
He throws a perfect football.
The Andrew Marsh gets tackled by the DB,
but that would have been a walk-in 50-yard touchdown.
So you were seeing him take steps.
The stat line is not going to say that to you,
but you're also got to realize Oklahoma's defense.
A lot of penalties took place.
There was multiple throws that he made
that were called back by,
penalties. And Bryce is not, by any means, a complete product for us to look at and be like,
we can go win a national championship with this kid right now. But what you saw was a kid made
good decisions, take care of the football when he threw it in the air, and overcome what might
have been the biggest adversity of his entire life. So those are all things you can hang your hat on.
Offense needs to get better. Offensive line needs to play better. Bryce needs to be a guy that we
can rely on in a close game to throw the ball down the field. But that is a big culture win.
For a new head coach who everyone in his circle was kind of doubting at one point.
Yeah.
I was going to say too, like in just playing more discipline.
Like, bro, the penalties.
The penalties.
The penalties will kill you.
I'm surprised I didn't kill them in this game.
Because it was, I mean, 11 penalties for 90 yards is absolutely brutal.
Off its line did a great job protecting.
But the no turnovers, to your point.
That's what wins you.
he put two on the ground.
Yeah.
Or they had two on the ground.
One was an option play that was just ridiculous backyard football.
And the other one got punched out that he ended up just bouncing right back into his lap.
So I love this defense, dude.
I think this defense is going to keep you in games.
You stay healthy.
Our back end, it might be them.
Yeah, your back end's good.
Yeah.
Shout out the boy, Trey Pierce.
Trey Pierce?
Yeah, I got the C on his chest too.
Had himself a game.
Zach Marshall had a nice block.
Had a nice block early.
walk early. Yeah. A couple of them
boys. Nico leading them boys out of the tunnel
in the camera frame.
A couple guys called me after the game. Like,
but if we didn't have all those penalties, we would have them by 20.
What about that?
All right. Hey, just relax. I'd just be happy
you won the game. Just be happy you won the game. Let's stack another one for
next week, dude. I do think if Bryce hits
that bomb, there's definitely a different narrative around
like how he did in that game. Because like that, obviously it's not
in the stats, but that was a perfect throw.
But the biggest thing of that that I took from Bryce was his body language after that.
He was bringing juice.
He was talking a little shit.
It was awesome to see him kind of be in the game.
And I know some people in the media wanted to see that from him.
And I think he kind of answered the bell bringing some juice.
A couple of things we have to keep in perspective too is like last year, there was no real game plan.
There was no quarterback coach.
Like in a lot of ways like it's kind of his first two real starts with a real coaching staff.
With like zero development all last year.
last year's coach yourself?
Oh, they got fired.
You didn't hear?
No.
The head coach was banging his secretary.
Oh, that was the guy in the photo?
That one.
That is.
Not good.
Hey, hey.
It was not good out there.
What's going on with the boy landing?
Dumb.
The clump curse is in it?
It could just be clump, honestly.
You know what I feel terrible about?
I'll take it for. I'll take the shots, man.
I'll take him for landing.
It's all because of me.
You know what I feel bad about?
is week one
when we're doing Bustin and Paid on campus.
We talked about the A gap.
And I said Dan Lennon could be a guy that is in the A gap.
In my brain, I'm bringing up Dan
because I'm thinking like,
they're my national championship pick.
Like I think they have the best roster
in college football.
I'm thinking to myself,
I'm going to put Dan out here
because I don't think this is even a possibility.
Like I think this team's going to roll through.
They're going to do,
they might have one or two losses,
but they're going to be in the playoffs, no problem.
and then Boise State takes place
they barely get out of that one
and you think week one
not an issue but Boisey too
they rolled Memphis over the weekend
yeah Boisey stay nice
yeah Boise could be a tough football yeah they could be a tough football
but I'm with you questionable win in week one
Oklahoma State happens and they lose
God and they got their ass beat
and dude it's like first off
I thought Dan handled his press conference
as best as you possibly can
like hey he's like that even the score
is not as good as the game actually was.
We got our ass beat in all three phases.
The thing that throws me off the most about this team right now is the defense.
Like Dan Lending is a defensive-minded head coach.
That's why at Georgia, he had so much success, he did a lot of great things.
And essentially that got him the job at Oregon.
So you can always kind of rely on like, D.C.'s leave.
They come and go at Oregon, but you're not going to have a problem because Dan Lanting is your D.C.
But to give up that many points to Oklahoma State.
And the line of scrimmage kind of getting pushed, bro.
Yes.
Like all of the returning like vets and the returning production and starters
and this team top to bottom.
It is.
It's like this is the best roster in college football.
And Dan Laning is your head coach.
Dude, losing to Oklahoma State in that fashion too.
Like giving up over 500, 20 yards of offense.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Mestemaker, man.
And Mestimaker.
He was doing his own John Elvian person as well.
I don't know what to.
I'm not sure.
I'll die a slow death
thinking that, okay, they'll get it figured out.
They'll get it figured out.
They'll get rolling.
I'll die a slow death with the squad.
But you cannot be feeling good
if you're an Oregon duck fan right now.
Because not only that, you showed the entire country,
like anybody who now plays Oregon,
this is an extremely mortal football team.
Like nobody's going to be intimidated now
going against the Oregon Ducks.
Listen, you got one week to get right.
You have Portland State.
And then after that, you got at USC.
Yeah, that's where you get to, hey, all the problems we have, you have about 13 days to figure it all out.
Yeah, because you'll wax, like Portland State's 0 and 3, like you're hoping they're just going to wax and nobody's going to give a shit.
Nobody's going to care about the box.
No, yeah, that's going to be.
No one will talk about them past right now.
When we're done talking about Oklahoma State and Oregon, we probably won't talk about it again.
Yeah.
Or any of the media will talk about Oregon again until USC.
Because it is, when you have that much expectation,
as a team. I've never been in this position to have
like a team where you're like, we can win it all, we can go
undefeated the whole thing. If your
expectation is as high as it is for
not only for yourselves but nationally
and that happens, you're
officially in a fragile state because you're
living off the idea in your brain,
we are going to go win it all. We are going to do this.
And then you lose to an unranked
opponent who just lost to Tulsa.
All it takes is a couple more
pulls at the fabric for everything to come
apart. Yeah, because it's not just
one thing or one phase or something that
you're looking it's like the entire operation yeah what is the conversation that you think
dan's having with this team right it's the i think it's a classic uh funeral it's the funeral
conversation and stop dressing black smelling your own shit yeah because because after that it's like
the entire year it's like what team would you look on there that can't beat organ after what
what oklahoma state just did like all like all the confidence that every team can kind of have
when playing organ right now because you just throw on the oklahoma state tape there's
handful on that schedule that you feel pretty good about but for the most but it's not like a
oh we're going to find out when they play oh oh oh that was kind of where you sat there before
like oh USC they're going to be better but Oregon they have a better roster we'll see nice of
USC and their freshmen that are ripping around out there is crazy you see la's 2 and oh right now
yeah and then you know obviously the big red no shit that was being talked in the office
I just say we can't go in there if you're a team that has
Oregon on your schedule
you feel a lot more comfortable
about being competitive in that game than you did
a couple of weeks ago.
Yeah.
But hey, hey, hey.
The switch flipped in.
Hey, we like the team.
No, yeah, when we get a time?
No, Dakota.
We're going to pull the reins on that.
All eyes are going to pull the reins on everything you're saying.
Yes, sir, yes, sir, yes, sir.
Yeah, you don't need to do none of that right now, boss.
How many times in Nebraska have been two and noses we've had this show?
You're right.
You're right, you're right.
Exactly.
Let's just calm the fuck down.
We beat Bowling Green in Ohio.
We don't need to talk about it.
We don't even talk about it anymore.
We don't need to talk about Nebraska until week six.
Save it for the bonds.
Yeah, save it.
Save it for week six.
Keep my words at a minimum.
Keep my words in one week at a time.
I like this football team.
One week at a time.

Middle school is a different world than the one we grew up in.
I'm Dr. Joy, and this is therapy for black girls.
We spend real time on it in our surviving middle school run,
bringing in a child psychologist and a psychiatrist who's raising two black girls of his own
to talk about what's really going on with our kids right now.
So it's literally physiological and neurological and psychological and psychological chaos happening all this end up.
We got into group chats and gaming, friendships and bullying,
and how to tell the difference between healthy monitoring and the kind of surveillance that erodes trust.
There's belonging. You could think of belonging as I can be myself and I can still be accepted.
And then there's fitting it.
Spitting in says I have to change who I am in order to avoid rejection.
Then we turn the conversation toward the fathers, sitting down with therapist Keir Gaines on Black fatherhood and what it means to raise a daughter through this stage.
You don't have on shorts, so you can't do flips.
You have on the dressy.
You have to cross your legs.
That's the range of this run, from screen time to identity to the father's doing the work at home.
We have to get off her device.
But the reality is there's a lot of life out there that we don't want you as your adults in their lives to miss out on.
This has been our surviving middle school run.
Brought to you by the people who spend their careers thinking about exactly this.
I'm Dr. Joy.

Self Care September is here, which means it's time to rethink what self-care actually means.
Yes, self-care can be a long walk.
It can be in everything shower.
It can be putting your phone on Do Not Disturb.
But sometimes it's actually about sitting with the uncomfortable stuff.
and understanding your patterns, your boundaries,
finally figuring out why you keep doing things that you swore you would never do again.
I'm Gemma Spag, the host of the Psychology of Your 20s podcast,
and each week we unpack the psychology behind the experiences that shape your 20s,
from relationships and friendships to money, anxiety, confidence, attachment,
just becoming more comfortable with who you are.
Unlike the quarter life crisis, which is depicted as the collapse,
the quarter life reinvention is the expansion and growth of something.
When we develop the ability to be happy by ourselves, nobody else can take that from you.
So this self-care September, don't just take care of yourself.
Get to know yourself as well.

We hope to see you guys there.
Let's get back to the episode.
Well, real quick, resident Oklahoma State fan Cooper Comstock, member of the bus.
He sent me a text before we got on here and said, Oregon still has not posted the final
score since Saturday.
That's a bad look.
We can't have that.
He said it might be worth mentioning that we completely broke them.
That's a bad look.
That's embarrassed.
worse than losing.
That's a bad look.
That's a bad look on Oregon.
And we all going to talk about how Coop's a little too confident for being a fan of Oklahoma
State and the Cardinals.
I think if you're cool.
Is it a little strong?
Yeah,
but Oklahoma State showed like some of the promise that you assumed before week one happened.
Like when week one happened when I saw Coop, I was just like, hey, I'm sorry, man.
And that's not even on a level of like personal.
Like I was like, I thought Oklahoma State was going to be nice too.
and they shit the bet against Tulsa.
Against Tulsa.
Then you go out there and have that performance
and see Messamaker do what you think Messamer can do.
Coups should be riding high right now.
Like they could be Oklahoma State's back to being
matches of chaos in college football
because that's the team you want.
That's the team you want on the field
when you're going against basically everybody on the schedule.
I thought they were like after week one happened against Tulsa.
I was like, dude, I think everybody was kind of wrong
thinking North Texas was coming up
and Messer Maker and everything else.
I just think, listen,
Big win against Oregon, that's awesome, but let's just temper.
Because now I don't want my boy to get it is heartbroken.
But I mean, he's like, who, bro?
He's a fan of the Arizona Cardinals in the Oklahoma State.
That's what I'm saying.
So you know pain so much why are you putting yourself back on a pedestal only to fall off a cliff again?
Maybe he's trying to ride the high while he's got the high right now.
You don't know.
Let him have it.
Yeah, let him have it.
He probably hasn't had a weekend like this in a decade.
And he still took a loss with Kyler Murray getting injured this weekend.
Yeah, the boy's always taking trap in one way or another.
That was crazy.
see by the way.
What a crazy hit that was.
I mean,
let Coupe have a second.
There is,
there is a thought.
Is it Danny Franklin?
No,
look,
you know I don't want to say that.
I know.
I just said I'd die a slow death with Oregon.
But just to give,
to be on the,
kind of like what the public's saying
on like this Oregon team
could be overrated and everything else.
Like, is that the first domino
where you start to destroy yourself
from the inside out?
Who's Danny Franklin?
James,
James Franklin.
You know this.
Your brain will say that.
You'll get it.
Oh, shit.
He's comparing them.
Okay, because when I saw JP Reilly, I was like, oh, I must be missing something.
Damn.
You want that, that route already?
I have them at 13 in my top 20.
Like, I'm still, like, everybody's coming at me for not dropping them out.
You're on the outside looking at the color from a playoff.
Yeah, I'm not trying to overreact.
I'm still trying to be, you know, a voice that opposes mine.
Could this be the first domino that falls?
If there was ever a domino.
Domino to fall to be Danny Franklin or whatever the hell I didn't pick up.
This could be definitely it.
However, Portland State, get it done.
We'll know what we need to know.
When they play, they were supposed to be their first true test is USC.
Yeah.
Because USC looks nice right now.
They do.
Clump has a strategy to avoid this, though, that he wanted to share.
Oh, Clump.
Clem, Kevin Zatcher Food, clean take?
Is K&F?
K&F by Klump?
So you brought up the Danny Franklin thing.
That could be your take.
That's on my take
That's bringing it up
I'm just bringing it up
For people that are like all these dudes
Glazed Dan landing
They glaze your
They do all this stuff
I'm bringing it up
But if you were to make a quote graphic
Of what you said
It would be your face on it
That's true
And knowing our social team
That'll probably happen
I'll bring this up
I think it was very evident
That the best quarterback
On the field on Saturday
was Oklahoma State's quarterback
In my opinion
Oh my God
Don't do what you think
They scored 31 points dude
who Oregon made a pick six 99 yards
gone
I'm a little concerned about the
quarterback position of Oregon
I think he has a lot of weapons
a lot of superstars around him
if he struggles against Portland State
which he won't but if USC
it's half time and the offense is stalling
that's all I'm gonna say I'm bringing it up
wait who
Dylan Rayola can sling the rock man
I'm bringing it up
Danny Franklin Will brought
up, I'm bringing up
Dylan Rao potentially. Not right now.
Not a full break the glass panic.
Just want to bring it up. Because if you watch
Messmaker and the plays he made, he won
that game for Oklahoma State. He was a true
first round pick quarterback in my opinion.
Doug, can I just tell both of you something?
Like week one,
we all is, we're all going to overreact
and things are going to be the worst thing
of all time or the best thing of all time.
What you two just said in the span of this
last five minutes is fucking ridiculous.
It's bringing it up.
Both of you guys, both you guys to bring that kind of energy.
I don't know, both you guys time out the same time.
I think we need a time out from both of you for just a minute.
We're bringing it up.
We didn't see that time out from both of y'all for a second.
Time out.
Damn it.
Relax.
All right.
You're seeing something crazy.
You said something crazy.
It's week two.
I brought it up.
Mess & Baker's probably a first round pick.
That's a damn good football player.
He's good.
Dante Moore would have been a top three pick last year.
You're basically saying he's Matt Barkley.
Maybe.
JP, you now got a timeout, dude.
That's crazy.
No, no, no.
I've been on the, like Dante Moore, I've never been fully bought in on.
Again, want him to be good, but I just haven't seen Dante Moore in big moments do the things he's supposed to do.
Cody and I were talking about it before.
Cody brought.
Oh, shit.
This is everyone's going on the most on that.
I'm going to say the leadership thing.
Yeah, you bring it out.
Like you're saying last year, Oregon didn't really have to look to Dante Moore to like be the leader of the team in all these big moments.
Because they had a lot of guys, a lot of guys left.
I also has a stat up here about Oregon's D line in the portal.
Seven of them are gone.
Yeah, I think it just goes overlooked right now with Oregon.
their starting defensive line is very good.
They're ranked as one of the top position groups in the country,
but losing seven depth pieces on the defensive line,
like they didn't even get to Mestemaker one time
and they're supposed to be one of the best D-lines in the country.
Like not having depth,
and when you have an offense like Oklahoma States,
it's a little bit faster.
Like, I think that that got maybe overlooked
coming into this season as well.
But yeah, the Dante Moore thing.
Like I think last year it was just his first year
starting at Oregon.
And like now you're looking to him to be,
be a leader and I don't know like just the body language he doesn't he doesn't put off as a guy that's
like hey no hey look to me I'm going to get this done and like that's my take on Dantay Moore I will say
there are anti duck bar dude not an anti duck pod this is this is guys getting out of the trenches
right now this is textbook dude no my hot take is Oklahoma State is going to make the college football
playoff from the big 12th oh yeah okay be I think they're
I'll take a clap on that.
And I can't wait.
I wish we could fast forward 12 weeks
because I'd have a lot of money.
Dude,
focus on the process, man.
There are opinions out there
that are not fully bought in on Dante Moore.
And you're shaming on us right now.
You put Dan Lending in the A gap.
Week one of college football.
That's before all this happened.
Yeah.
I was pointing out.
I know Jared doesn't feel good about Dante Moore.
Not at all.
Hey, it's hard.
It's hard to say hard things
when things have bad things haven't happened yet it's easy to be negative when you go to
still water and loose all right i did a hard thing two weeks ago you guys are taking low-hanging
fruit right now so shame on you guys taylor you saw my top 25 they're still at 13 i got to do
one next to me like i'm still in there with the word i said i'll die the slow death because i still
want to bring up opposing thoughts that are out there that are a little overreactive they could
come to life if organ shits the bed that's it that's all i'm
I'm not saying that that's my take.
Danny Franklin.
I brought up Danny Franklin on the locker room last year.
Last year.
When they beat,
when they were winning and doing well.
I just want to add one thing.
Oh, here we go.
Well,
you're saying we're talking crazy.
I just brought up the idea that maybe you go
quarterback switch.
If you...
You mentioned someone could be benched
if they struggled in week two,
so I'm just throwing that out there.
You did put your quarterback on the chopin' block.
On national television.
Vince.
Yeah, on the chapter.
They're enlightened.
So, Bryce, if he plays, if he doesn't play well against Oklahoma, you'll see Carr out there
because he'll get benched.
Just throwing it out there.
That's not what I said at all.
You talked about him getting benched.
Yeah, I talked about if he does not play well at all and he does not take a step at all.
We could see Carr eventually during the season.
I have been of the stance that you don't do that.
And if it was, if we went to halftime and Oklahoma was beating our ass, you still put
Bryce Underwood out there.
You don't put Tommy Carr in against the wolves.
You put him against U-TEP.
if you want to salvage any part of the season.
That was a judgment day.
And if you guys want to point fingers at me,
I was also in the camp.
I was in the camp of,
the world is saying this.
If that happens,
I understand why they bench them.
However,
I'm with Bryce.
I'm with them.
I stood in the trenches with him.
I pointed out the reality
because that's what your camp should do for you
is like,
hey,
this is a possibility,
but I was always on Bryce.
Always.
So I'm pointing out the possibility
that Dante Moore could be benched for Dylan Raola.
I'm still in the trend.
with Dante Moore.
And Dan, not d'Aidney
Frankling crazy.
No players should ever
forego the NFL ever again in their lives.
He would have been a top five pick.
Yeah.
You bench him for a Raola?
That's happened a few times with quarterbacks.
I feel like it was Drew Aller, one of them
that could have been a top pick.
He stayed and then obviously.
I bought Barclay as well.
Barclay was going to be top 10 pick
after his junior season.
He came back and then USC had a tough year.
And I think he was a fourth or fifth round pick
after that.
It's interesting to think, too,
They stay because of NIL.
I wonder like when you really break it down,
is it worth chasing the one year of money
if you could get the first round draft pick status?
But that's another study and another conversation.
I can't believe you guys try to pin me with y'all.
That is insane.
That was an insane move.
No, no, I just wanted you to say the whole.
You were trying to get us in the corner of overreacting
like we believe our overreactions.
I just want to say on record,
I'm of the opinion that Boise State's a tough football team.
I'm of the opinion that Oregon had a bad day at the office on Saturday.
They'll turn around and get it figured out.
That was their first loss outside of losing to what national champions?
Like of all of Dan Lanning's losses.
He's never lost on the road until this weekend Saturday.
Oklahoma State is a solid football team.
Messamaker is a dog.
And they had a bad day at the office.
That is what my opinion actually is.
That's why I got him still top 15 on the Willie C top 25.
I just hope Dealing comes and listens to this pod to hear that explanation.
He doesn't see the quote graphic that Jack put up.
I want to say that was all up, but my name is.
That our social team put up.
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
The quote graphic, our social team put up.
Somebody's got to pull the church.
Danny Franklin.
Prentices and Will Compton.
James Franklin is 2 and O though.
I do want to...
Yeah, yeah.
Virginia Tech's playing well.
It's a compliment.
I just want to put it in...
BTA for real.
VMI? Who is VMI?
Who is VMI?
It sounds like venereal disease, dude.
That is crazy.
Why?
wild
sneaky good game
Virginia Tech
at Maryland
this weekend
sneaky good game
listen I'm with you on that
I can't stand
the way you say Maryland
I don't know why
Maryland
Maryland
oh
it's a theme part
yeah
boy pronounces it
can knife
do we want a little
P5 scoop
from Cody Gray
yeah go ahead
oh G5
sorry G5
G5 we now have
some respect for the G5
on this bus
yeah
the graveyard
is gonna give you
you a G5 breakdown every week. Yeah, we mentioned Boise State, but good G6. It's a G6 now with the
Pact 12s. G6. So it is G6. Boise State, 21 unanswered in the second half, puts it to Memphis,
who were kind of the two favorites to get the playoff spot. Keep your eyes on UTSA,
Owen McCown, Luke McCown's son, runs a fun offense down there. North Texas put a beat down on
UNLV. Jackson Arnold went
to kind of being Jackson
Arnold. UNLV. He's out of it.
JMU put up 87 points against Wagner.
Oh, shit.
A little sad note, all military academies
lost on 9-11 weekend.
Well, I'll just pause there.
Let's take our hats off.
And have a quick moment of silence for that.
That's...
But yeah, Air Force...
It was great.
We got to keep it moving.
Boston College one.
Yeah.
But yeah, North Dakota State beat Air Force and North Dakota State look for them to win the
Mountain West as their first year in the FBS.
They look really good.
They're tough.
Tough ball club.
North Dakota State's always been a little salty.
Would love to go to a game up there.
Hey, you really would.
North Dakota State.
Dude.
Have you been?
Yeah.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
I'd be so much fun to go out there and like immerse yourself in the culture.
Bro, they are about it out there.
I'm talking glorified.
Friday night lights watered down Lincoln Nebraska vibe just all over North Dakota State football
what what's real that's real that's real they fucking love their football team I love that
big win for one of their alumni this weekend too uh Carson Wentz pulling out a big win just
had a yeah yeah north Dakota's got Carson Went all would it all would all seem dead
RIP Collar Murray uh anything else in the gg6 realm that's pretty much it
Yeah, but Boise State goes to Western Michigan in two weeks.
Look for that one to be a good game.
I got Western Michigan covering.
Where's that?
Is that Kalamazoo?
Kalamazoo, yes.
Never been.
But that is where they are.
Behind every night spent making the kids' lunches, there's a lot of suspense.
Will they finally eat the veggies?
Will the pastos survive the first bite?
Will the lunchbox come home empty, half full, or come home at all?

Is Alabama for real?
Yeah.
You guys buying the stock on Bama?
I'll buy it.
I buy the stock on Bama.
Yeah, I'm keeping, like, I still feel like they're, I feel like they're a little overrated right now.
I think Keelon Russell, I think he's a stud.
defensively they have an awesome defense
but I feel like you know you look at the Kentucky game
like they are attempting to run the football more
they're opening it up a little bit more in the backfield
but some of the question marks it's like
if Keelon Russell turns the ball over
that is where to me it's all turnovers
because they put the ball on the ground what turned it over
four times
turned it over four times like you can't just expect
Keelan Russell to win every game
as a freshman for Alabama so I'm like
I think it's a little overrating right now.
I think we're a little too high on Alabama.
The jury is obviously still out.
I just don't know if I want to buy that they are for real yet.
When you ask the question, are we buying stock in Alabama?
Is that from like playoff team contender?
Because if that's the case, no, no, I'm not.
Yes.
I want to say AP's got them, what, top 10?
Yeah, they're number 10.
Yeah, AP's got them top 10.
Well, they had, what, five rushing yards in the first year?
They still can't run the ball.
Their offensive line gave up four sacks during the game.
Like Keel and Russell is,
an elite talent, but
he had two interceptions.
I get to Kentucky team that their strength of their team
was not the defense. It was supposed
to be on the office side of the ball with Will Stein.
So I think I'm more
not as high on Kentucky
and Alabama stays in the same
position for me as of right now. That's how
I'm kind of looking at it. I think Keelan Russell's
awesome. You've got to have a
complimentary offense with a young quarterback.
Doesn't matter how athletic he is, but if you're
going to put the game on his shoulders week in and week out,
that's a recipe for disaster.
towards when you play these bigger bigger SEC teams.
So I don't think this is going to be like an Alabama.
I don't see a world.
I see a world,
but like I'm not high on Alabama
making the playoffs this year as of right now.
As of right now.
As of right now.
And my opinion can always change.
Some people felt good about the running game coming out of the weekend.
They were down to running back
and a starting offensive linemen as well.
Yeah,
I still think they got some question marks on the offensive line.
And again,
it's like Keel and Russell,
the whole turnover factor.
Like you were playing against,
not to shit on Kentucky, but playing against Kentucky.
And it's like when you play these teams
that will make you pay for these turnovers
and you face a salty defense,
like I think that's where, in my opinion,
Alabama can still run on the problems
because I'm just not sold on them offensively yet.
Love Keelan Russell,
but just not sold on them offensively yet.
I think a lot of credit needs to be given to DeBore
and the coaching staff for making second half adjustments.
I think that's where they shined.
They were down, right?
17, 14, at half?
13, 13, 13, and they end up, you know,
Kentucky doesn't score another point
and then up running it up towards the end.
So that's awesome for Alabama
from a coaching staff standpoint.
But I don't know where you walk away from that
in the run game and go, oh yeah,
we're getting better.
It's like maybe because you're at the bottom of the list,
that's why you're getting better.
But this is not a team that is going to be balanced anyway.
Like the Offensive Lime,
or they have like freshman or freshman left tackle.
Yeah.
Two sophomores that are like very little starting experience.
A Cal Poly Center.
Like a lot of moving parts.
in a position group that needs to be the most cohesive
of any group on the field.
So I'm not, it's early.
A lot of things can change
and they have a couple of weeks,
a couple easy weeks,
and then, you know,
real ball starts.
So we'll see.
Any thoughts on Missouri?
I feel like that's always the one team
every year in the SEC.
Dude, I like Austin Simmons.
I think Austin Simmons was spinning it.
Yeah.
And who I don't want to butcher
the receiver's last name.
Starts with a note.
I mess it up every time.
Yeah.
I call that.
Jesse was talking about.
Jesse was talking about, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, he's supposed to be the truth.
Mizzu look good against Kansas, though.
What did you do in the club face for it?
What's up?
I thought you're trolling me, right?
You're trolling me.
No, no, no, I'm not.
In the car, I was, I was raving about him scoring it.
That was me.
Is it a luge bode?
Yeah, I thought you're messing with me.
Is that it?
Yeah, it's a luge bode.
It's hard to say, yeah, I mess it up every time, but he was a five-star.
He's, he's unbelievable.
But about the battle.
That was you in the car saying this kid's going to play out?
Yeah.
Yeah, all right. All right. All right. Yeah, you're right.
I can't believe he went to Missouri. He's super talented and he's a great receiver. He's a true number one in college football.
But, you know, we're talking about Missouri from a playoff standpoint. Like, what is what is the barrier for us to be like we're high on this team? To me, to me, it's more of like preseason expectation. Nobody really had Missouri in the conversation.
I'm just saying I think Missou's like a sneaky team in the SEC. Okay, I like that.
Not like sneaky like Tennessee yet in my mind or as we're talking about A&M and Alabama. Like, I don't think they're in the realm yet.
But I do feel like this is a team who's been putting together some good ball, especially whoop in Kansas after the video came out.
That was a spicy rivalry game that happened.
That was just a wild move by Kansas.
They're racist.
We're good people.
They're bad.
It's a crazy take for rivalries, dude.
And then defensively, KU gets a turnover.
And they're doing the belt-to-ass.
Selly, like they won the game or they had a mat.
Like, they're just beating down Mizzou.
They're doing belt-to-ass on the trash can.
I'm like, what are we talking about right now?
I just can't believe, like, Kansas's thing was like,
we're on the right side of things back in the 1800s.
And therefore, fuck Missouri.
That's what this game is about.
Or this football game that has nothing to do with idiot.
Like, legit, I kind of feel like every team that plays South Carolina
for now and should just take the same approach.
You guys started it, dude.
Yeah, dude, do you know who are freaking, you know who Tim Scott?
is we're about representation
leading to charge
did anyone see
uh talk ball
coach drink did you see him like
he was pissed he was just like
racking people on the internet then too
he was just rationing people into oblivion that were
saying he did not he did not like how
they were kind of like marketing this game
yeah it's a crazy thing
and he shoved it up their ass
that is wild
uh one game
One game we drink sleepy build sleeper bill sleeper bill sleeper build sleeper build sleeper build on drink
He's got like Jared puffer vibes a little bit
We love you drink love you drink
Hey, Camaro Taylor
Mississippi State super comario Taylor because I I tell you on the locker room I was so on Minnesota
Discipline the way they were just gonna slow the game down and this kid is unbelievable
dude. Yeah. Big one against South Carolina this week. Big one. A lot of points going to be
scored in this one. How do we feel, JP? Going into this weekend. Feel great. It's a, it's a perfect
perfect first SEC matchup for both schools. Like neither of us are top level SEC right now. That's
not what we're being viewed as. Both teams have buzz around them. Like we're saying earlier,
Lenore Sellers had the Camario Taylor kind of buzz in 2024. But I'm
excited because this will be
Camario, this is what, his fifth start.
It'll be his first time coming on,
coming in the road to
Williams-Bryst Stadium, our first real
game, and I think that will cause a lot
more problems for Mississippi State than
maybe people are anticipating.
And we haven't played anybody
the first two weeks, so nobody has talked
about us much at all. And our
defense is our bright spot.
And this will also be his first time
going against a defense, I
think as good as ours on the road.
So I think we'll cause some problems for him.
He's going to have amazing plays.
He's going to do things that are special.
But it's not easy coming into Williams-Brice.
And we got Lenore Sellers who's going to have a little bit of edge to him.
Because, you know, he sees all the stuff about Camaro Taylor.
Right.
It's like the new shiny toy in the SEC.
Exactly.
So I think we might get a little reminder about just how good Lenore Sellers is and can be and will be.
And how many times, just to put in the South Carolina said,
how many times we've seen like everyone get really hot on a player after a big week like
versus Minnesota Bay 10 SEC matchup and then that player shits the bed the next week where
everyone's like I'm buying stopping this guy this guy's going to be a Heisman guy and all of a
sudden it just has a little hiccup and it was like okay maybe he wasn't what we thought he was
I South Carolina is an awesome place it's going to be loud it's going to be a way different
environment I hope Lenoris takes it personal I hope so too the whole team has to take it
Personally, this is one of the biggest weeks in Coach Beamer's coaching career at South Carolina.
Like these next five days are an important five days.
Let's go.
And he'll rise to him.
What a great feeling.
I was surprised the Mississippi State beat the shit on Minnesota the way they did.
Dude, same.
Because it's like after the first week and seen Camaro Taylor, it's like, I feel good about them winning.
But maybe I kind of don't.
I just felt like fundamental football up in Minnesota would kind of level out the playing field.
And he beat the shit out of them.
Yeah, the flight bank was.
got robbed.
Yeah, floodbank got fucking robbed.
Yeah, they put the ski mask on and they came in and took care of business and dipped
out of there.
Tennessee, Georgia Tech.
I think you and I are both on the right side of that.
Yeah, I like Tennessee as a little dark horse in the SEC.
Maybe Tennessee fans aren't all the way there yet.
They want to see a lot more.
But I just feel like, Faison Brandon, like, what do you go, 17 for 30?
Like, still some things that he won't back.
I just think what they do schematically on offense with a veteran group on the line
of scrimmage.
The 30 personnel, look, dude, you would.
see it. They even's got play actions now going in the red zone where they're able to take
shots. I just love what they do schematically. I feel like they'll continue to get better.
I got some just blind faith in Jim Knowles defensively once they start playing competition.
This Tennessee hosting Texas here in a couple weeks is going to be fireworks. I like Tennessee.
All the things I was kind of like worried about with Alabama, it's not that way with Tennessee
with Hypo and his play calling ability. You guys have a strong. These are very balanced.
If you guys get into a rock fight with a team that is equal from a talent standpoint,
you'll be able to run the ball and not put it on a young quarterback's shoulders.
That's what makes me feel really good about Tennessee kind of being that dark horse of the SEC.
Where is the pulse of Tennessee at?
I think after week four, so we have Kennesaw State this week last non-conference game
before we go to our, I think, nine game gauntlet for all SEC.
After Texas is when you'll start seeing a lot of those optimistic balls fans.
Whether the outcome of the game is in our favor or not, we'll see.
but I think you kind of saw Faison Brandon, like the human element in him.
Like, you know, first road game was a true freshman, didn't play great, but also limited mistakes.
Favored the run game, which is great.
DeShon Bishop is a dog.
And then our defense, our special teams had some, Quay Moss dropped a punt return,
which led to a bad situation.
But I think the defense held us well.
Run game was strong.
Phazon Brandon still poised.
Obviously, you don't want to look ahead to Texas already.
game playing Kennesaw State,
handled business,
cover the spread,
and then, yeah,
that hopefully will be a fireworks game
with Archimaining
and their win coming in.
I think there'll be a lot of eyes
on that game coming in.
I think everyone's excited
just to see the Texas,
Tennessee just matchup happen again.
And the real UT,
who will it be?
Who will it be?
I'm excited.
I know Ryan Sobel,
I was texting him
because we're fantasy partners
and I was asking how his night was yesterday
and he's like,
oh, dude, unbelievable.
Like a very minimal text
because you could tell us a long night.
And he sends me a video.
He's like fifth row in the end zone.
And I was like, dude, that's what it's all about in college.
Just being present at your team in a stadium that's rocking after an insane comeback.
So happy for him.
But come week four, it's, you know, horns down, dog.
Come on.
And the graveyard brought up UTSA.
UTSA plays Texas this week, don't they?
I think so.
Great spot for just an underdog covering the spread.
Walla.
Because we saw it with Ole Miss LSU last week.
And by the way, I was kind of box score peeking on the LSU game.
Like, Levin having three interceptions, one pick six, yeah.
Did he also fumble two, like four turnovers?
That was one of the things I was going to bring up in the conversation is,
how do we feel about that?
Because your comments going into this past week was both those teams don't give a shit about who they're playing.
They're not even game planning, Louisiana Tech and whoever Ole Miss played.
And I was wondering how you felt about that, like going.
into old men like he they have now to go to oxford yeah all the things are going to take place
the fan base is going to be one of the highest crime rates oxford's ever had in a single
day like it is going to be absolutely nuts like i'm legitimately worried for lincoln but we were
talking to uh was a baker before the ls u clemson game like just kind of brush over that game where
it's like you should bring in your own food you should bring in all your stuff so you don't
have to worry about you know someone in oxford taking you
into their own hands.
Like,
there's a true,
such a high level of hate
taking place.
Dude,
I saw,
as I'm laying a better
I was,
nothing's off the table.
Yeah,
I was doom scrolling
last night and I just saw
this southern chick
when Lane Kiffin
said he was going to LSU.
She's screaming.
She's just screaming in her
in her living room.
I fucking high LSU.
Fuck,
Lang.
They are.
So,
like,
this has been the storyline
for the past 10 months.
Yeah,
yeah, yeah.
And so now it's finally happening
in week three.
I would,
I would take every precaution.
Yeah, you got to take your most trusted LSU restaurant.
I would essentially like Air Force One, like if there's a threat, they bring in a different plane.
Like I would do that.
I would have multiple planes, multiple different cars, caravans, SWAT team around.
Yeah, like have him get in, go to an alley, put him in a different car and then start driving to the hotel.
That's the kind of shit we're talking about in Oxford this weekend.
It is going to be nuts.
All that to be said, LSU, the High of Clemson, Death Valley, then where they did against Louisiana.
They handled business.
Sam Levitt showed he was human.
A off-schedual plays bit him in the ass a little bit.
No one was focused on their week two game.
Not one person on either side was focusing their week two game.
That's going to be fireworks.
And these players are going to be drinking the Kool-Aid.
We hate them too.
Even some guy who transferred in from North Dakota State.
It's like, yeah, fuck them.
Like they are going to be all about it.
There's going to be fights in the tunnel, everything.
Over under, how many stoppage of play for,
ref to make announcements to the stadium.
I say three and a half.
And I'm taking the over.
I'm taking the over.
It's going to have some good vibes like when Lane came to Tennessee a few years ago.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, the mustard.
10 exit.
Oh, for sure.
I did want to shout out one thing because we're doing the tailgate in Knoxville.
My prediction for that Texas Tennessee game is it's going to be one of the most beautiful
fall days that we're going to get.
Oh, that's a clean take.
September 26.
Big, high of 79.
It is going to be gorgeous.
God. Doxville, man.
God.
B.F.O.
I love that.
Jack, one more thing on Tennessee, Bishop.
Yeah.
When I was listening to the game,
and they're talking about how he walked on Tennessee
when he had like D1 offers from other schools,
but he just loves Tennessee that much.
One of the cooler stories.
And this level of NIL.
I think that's awesome.
Need that.
Need that.
in the game guys that truly just love their school truly love the school got a good uh Friday night
game coming up with Texas Tech in Houston so there's question marks on Texas Tech right now question
marks did not look great did not look great big 12 is wide open can hey Kansas State looks good too
no yeah dude I I'm look serious I feel like they look solid bro as far as the big 12 goes I mean
they have every chance that anybody else has it's
it feels very wide open.
Yeah.
But you don't think Big Toll's wide open?
No, no, no, no.
I just remember the Kansas State talk of last year.
Dude, I know.
That's where my, that's my facial expression came from.
And clearly, it's New Year every single year.
But you're like, Kansas State, I just had like a PTSD flashback about you being like all on Kansas State throughout the year.
But yeah, dude, BYU looks good.
Utah looks good.
Houston looks good.
And then Texas Tech doesn't look as good.
Therefore, we have four.
horses in the race it feels like. Yeah, they let
Oregon State throw for over 400 yards
against them. They didn't have anyone
put that much yardage on him last year.
So like the defense looks
penetrable this year where last
year, I mean, even the Oregon game
where you felt, you know, Oregon dominated them.
They had like 300 yards of offense.
But like Oregon State comes in, new
coaching staff and just kind of lights
up that Texas Tech secondary.
It'll be fun watching
them go against Houston. Then also
SMU Louisville this week.
Dude, I like Louisville, man.
I like Louisville.
Was it, like Heinholds?
Yeah.
He's nice, bro.
Yeah, he's starting to get it figured out.
And when I was watching their game against Ole Miss, too,
like their front seven, they play salty.
Obviously, that was a high-scoring game.
But I just, I like Louisville.
I think you were worried about Louisville as far as, like,
low-scoring games goes.
Like, you thought they'd be able to run the ball,
play great defense because their defense was top 25
in both passing and running last year.
It was like when they get in these spots against a team,
old miss can they play to their level on the offensive side of the ball then week one doing what they
did even though they came with a loss yeah it's like you walk away in the acc be like i feel really confident
about us right now yeah obviously miami's it's its own gauntlet but and then you got smu where you got
jennings coming in they had a much better i got to look more i got to look more into smu because
their game against florida state just you know florida state was in that ball game and now unfortunately
florida state the red wedding kind of just started at florida state they just fired their athletic director
who knows what's to come there
they got what Bama this weekend don't they
Florida State yeah they got
Bama this weekend
but it's not good
it's not good in the ACC too
maybe people missed it but
Cal going out there to get a win against
Syracuse I missed it
dude also
Clemson versus Georgia Southern
Joe see Clemson versus Georgia Southern
bro yeah was it like 20 to 10 or something like that?
They scored one touchdown and kicked five
field goals
bro, Clemson
and I hit that Georgia Southern
Hey which kind of makes you think about
Ole Miss like oh oh Miss might be nice
LSU might not be as we thought they were
Yeah
I do I do want to go click on the film
Because I didn't think I'd be like going in to watch
LSU Louisiana Tech film
But seeing the picks that Levin had
Seeing the line of scrimmage could
Because people were saying that there's some question marks
Along the line of scrimmage
Defense apparently is phenomenal
like what we saw them against Clemson.
But you do got to sit there and wonder like how bad.
It's like the whole how bad is Clemson actually.
Yeah.
Because again,
going toes.
Like I saw how close it was at halftime with Clemson, Georgia's southern.
And she's like,
my God,
maybe they are just dog shit.
It's crazy.
Because they got,
they got to go on the road.
Does Clemson on the road at Cal?
Yeah,
they got to go out to.
You and Cal.
You know,
like me some Tosh La Poignant.
I'll tell you what.
Just keep my eye.
Don't they?
Just keep my eye on the Cal.
Bears, man.
Shout out Berkeley, man.
Oh, North Carolina.
They go out to Cal next week.
But North Carolina, yeah.
That's going to be a game.
That's going to be a game right there.
All right, boys, we feel good.
College football recap in the books.
Felsa, anybody got any final thoughts?
Graveyard.
Reno.
Showing that college football is a week to week, man.
Like Stanford Steve told us before that LSU game,
it's going to be all about who can string wins together this year.
And showing from Michigan,
State is a week-to-week ball game.
Oh, wow.
Oh, yeah, Gregiard.
