Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an IHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
Starting point is 00:00:30 you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the ice. Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:04 Winning on Clay is an art. The rallies are relentless. And at the French Open, only the toughest survive. I'd know. I competed there for decades. Join me, Renee Stubbs, on the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast for no-nonsense breakdowns of the biggest matches, the toughest players, and the moments that define Roland Garris. She can win.
Starting point is 00:01:21 She's an outsider to win the French fame. And she likes Clay. Listen, Lina Rubakina is arguably the best player in the world right now. And I actually can win on any service. Listen to the Renee Stubbs tennis podcasts on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHart Women's Sports. Hey, what's good, y'all? You're listening to Learn the Hard Way with your favorite therapist and host, Kear Games.
Starting point is 00:01:45 This space is about black men's experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere, but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing. How many men carry a suit or armor? It signals to the world that you're not to be. played with. And just because you have the capability that does not mean that you need to. Listen to learn the hard way on the AHA radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Welcome back to another episode of Inside the Bus. This is episode 44, the Jim Brown episode, the Ernie Davis episode. The Hank Aaron, the Reggie Jackson, the Yorda on Alvarez. Also,
Starting point is 00:02:22 the Camp Scataboo episode. He was on me and Mitch's spring ball team. He was. Yeah, that sounds kind of unfair. If you go back and watch that vlog where we went to ASU and Taylor and Will were both the coaches calling plays. Me and a rest of peace G, we got fucked and we were with Taylor
Starting point is 00:02:41 and that team was doing nothing. But Teddy allegedly y'all had the starters. Yeah, but you all have Cam Scataboo. You guys had... Well, yeah, we had Scataboo, but you guys had Jalen Conyers and I think he went to the league. Yeah, but that day he didn't show up.
Starting point is 00:02:56 I wish we could coach another spring game. That's something I I mean, I think that might be like a one-time deal just because Kenny Dillingham and Taylor have that connection, but the coaches are listening out there. I bet Oklahoma State will let y'all do that. The new coach.
Starting point is 00:03:11 They're cool like that. You also do a spring game? Yeah. Dude, this is our first year. Gunny tried to get away from it a little bit. I think it's back. I feel like I was about to say make spring tour great again. Like, because I think of our first couple years doing it.
Starting point is 00:03:25 Like that. Yeah, I know. But I was going to say like last year, like, the one with Oregon last year, then the ones that y'all have done this year, like they seem like they are so sick. I don't know what it was, but last year,
Starting point is 00:03:37 sorry to cut your object, they blew up last year. Yeah. Spring tour last year, like blew up. Yeah, on YouTube. Yeah, on YouTube.
Starting point is 00:03:44 It was crazy. I don't know if we're, we might just be shadow band on YouTube or something because something's been. Have to be. We're slowing down or something. Have to be. Oh, inside the bus?
Starting point is 00:03:53 Or inside the bus. We're still, we're still floating around that 202. We're definitely shadow band on inside of us. Around that 2200 subscriber mark. So please, please, please tell some people to come check us out. We've agreed to stop giving financial and political advice. So hopefully that will help us in the algorithm too.
Starting point is 00:04:12 But spring tour, yeah, last year it is crazy how the videos popped off. Because Notre Dame this year was basically Oregon last year, but times two. Well, I feel like the teams are helping promote it this year more. Right. Yeah, I mean, Notre Dame, when we were there, their social team was accepting every collab. Same with tech. Same with tech. And Miami did it too.
Starting point is 00:04:31 So teams are taking notice. And it's definitely, it's good for them. It's good for us. It's good for everyone. And the more we can be like ground level with players and coaches, give the full experience, I feel like truly gives them an edge in recruiting.
Starting point is 00:04:45 Because like these young kids love YouTube. If you're watching out there, go ahead, subscribe to us. We need it. Please. But yeah, spring tour this year, massive success. Yeah, of the three tech, Notre Dame in Miami.
Starting point is 00:04:58 What is your ranking? I'll let you go first because I didn't go to tech. Yeah, man, it's so each of them have different parts that I love about them. If I'm, if I'm just going to school, I'm going to Miami, no doubt. Beautiful campus. That was my first time in Coral Gables on the U's campus, and it's everything you'd expect it to be. I also didn't realize how smart of a school it is. The guy that was giving us a tour, he was explaining, like, the SAT minimum that they accept,
Starting point is 00:05:26 and it's like one of the top universities in the country. I feel like something must have changed in the early 2000s, just around then. Dude, I don't know. I was actually having this conversation last night with someone asking about the spring tour, and they were saying they didn't realize that Miami is a private university. And there's only 12,000 undergrad. And when you think of Miami, yeah, you think it's like 20,000 minimum. You think it's a massive school.
Starting point is 00:05:47 But tuition, there's a hundred grand a year. And yeah, I mean, 12,000 undergrad. I think he said around 7,000 graduate students. So like under 20K students in total. and it is so nice the dude who was giving the tour what was his name in Miami? Yeah
Starting point is 00:06:02 he was such an OG he played on like a national championship Miami team first round draft pick but he he was I know he wasn't like like a guy like that was an old yeah he wasn't old he's probably like 40 not even
Starting point is 00:06:17 in an unreal storyteller too I'm just trying to look him up he truly if you haven't watched that vlog why it's not out yet but when you see it I don't know how much of that We don't have those stories in. He was such a good story to teller like J.P. San and just like the ideal representative you want from Miami to give you a tour.
Starting point is 00:06:35 At one point, he just pointed at this building goes, yeah, so right up there in that top floor of the building, that's where Drake film God's playing music video. And we're like, okay, yeah. I mean, definitely. They talk about the seventh floor crew at all? No, I'm pretty sure that was a pretty big don't ask about that. Not from them, just from. But Brett Mays, our CFO. He walked.
Starting point is 00:06:57 Oh, I forgot. He was with y'all. The smelling salts video. He's so funny. Okay, so a little bit on that. I, I, I film it. And then I asked Brett,
Starting point is 00:07:05 I'm like, hey, man, do you care if I'm like, I won't if you don't want me to do. He goes, no man, post it. And I go, I'm going to say,
Starting point is 00:07:10 we're teaching our accountant, how do you smelling salt? And he goes, oh, definitely. He goes, you mind saying CFO though? He goes, I'm not y'all's accountant.
Starting point is 00:07:17 And I was like, oh, I was like, I was like, I was like, you got it, bro. that is on me. But we were walking during one of the practices, just me and him. And he's like, you guys talk about the seven floor crew yet?
Starting point is 00:07:29 I'm like, I don't think so. I don't think we're allowed. Yeah. But if I had to choose between Miami, Notre Dame, the Notre Dame experience was incredible, but like you'll never be able to beat South Florida. Can't. The weather, we get off the plane. It's like kind of one of those late afternoon thunderstorms going on where it's like still beautiful.
Starting point is 00:07:50 And I, we can't. got to go to the pool and like jump off the 10 meter platform got to race the my yeah at the end of the tour there they start talking to like uh this isn't hazing they're like just so you know this is because i guess they in the past may have gotten in trouble for something but they'll end the tour at the pool they make these recruits and like i can imagine most like yeah dudes are not big pool guys yeah you know maybe jumping in with socks on but i mean the 10 meter it's 32 feet and 32 feet doesn't sound that high you've got to climb five different ladders to get up to it the one pat didn't on game day.
Starting point is 00:08:22 Yeah. Okay. So me, Taylor, Will and Brett Money Mays jumped off of it. And then me and Taylor and Will swam against each other.
Starting point is 00:08:29 And then the Miami, uh, women's swimming coach walks up and goes, you guys want to swim against real competition. And we all kind of like, clammed up and we're like, no. He's like,
Starting point is 00:08:39 come on over here. And he's like, we need five women to race these guys. Who's going to step up? And like immediately one girl's like, I'm doing it. And, uh,
Starting point is 00:08:47 obviously they smoked us. I almost kind of, I was on the tail of this girl. not like her coach came up to her and she was like he was asking her telling her it's like I was worried about you and I was like yeah it was like you she was hawking her I was you I was like jp you got to get in there but obviously you're doing the I would have loved I would have loved to be in there there was an internal decision that jp wasn't going to be getting in the water unfortunately I wasn't able to uh to compete that wasn't that wasn't a jp decision it wasn't a jp decision I
Starting point is 00:09:16 promised you guys I would have loved to have raced and I would have I would have jumped off the board but people are whispering that he could have jumped off the board though yeah people are whispering and that's what happened not me it's not me do you subscribe to our youtube though yeah subscribe to the youtube i think if i was to like rank them again i like there's three different things i like about each school i love coach mcguire yeah i think he's the most like wholesome football coach that we've come across he's like in that dan landing type world and i think if college football was taken away from him he would be completely okay because he could go back to coaching his first love. And I don't think the same can be said for a lot of coaches.
Starting point is 00:09:57 So I think he would be the most fun to play for. Notre Dame would be the coolest team to be a part of, to be running out of the tunnel because the walkthrough that they took us through was so incredible. And even though the stadium was empty, it felt like it was sold out. And we were actually running out for a game. And yeah, Miami, the weather.
Starting point is 00:10:20 and the the hardships that would come from being on the Miami football team would suck in that moment. But I feel like when you finish four years of Miami football, it's like you've entered into a different class of a person, of an athlete, and you have this newfound respect from other people. It feels like they have such a deep-rooted alumni base that's like constantly coming around. People love going. I mean, obviously there's no bad excuse to go down to Coral Gables. It's beautiful. I feel like they're like the alumni like if you went to the you it's not like how Taylor was with Michigan for a little bit like he was like yeah I went to Michigan but it is what it is now he's like I love Michigan but the you it's like oh I went there that is my school like the pride of being yeah going to you I think it's like it's almost like the army it's like if you've served your time at the you then like you're in the brotherhood forever yeah especially now with Christobal I know like I feel bad for these players from pre Christofal to that gap in between when they were. winning and then out of Chris Ball because you know all the other alumni are like who are these guys
Starting point is 00:11:23 like y'all don't y'all all are staying on this university i'm uh'm bummed that i didn't get to meet joey maguire because the way you speak about him and everyone's like said he was so cool because meeting marcus freeman and marri christabal like they were all-time humans marcus freeman was so personable and just like a happy guy but you can tell he's gonna motherfuck you at practice like if you don't like step up and there's christabal that like you know he's gonna motherfell fuck you. But his whole story like growing up in Miami, playing in Miami and now he's back at the helm.
Starting point is 00:11:55 You can just tell there's such a huge amount of respect that these players have for him. And he like him talking about how like not that the weather is an issue. They're like we get to practice in this humidity. Like we get to train at a higher level than any college in the country because of the weather here
Starting point is 00:12:10 like during June and July. And he's like I love it this time. He was like, because come fall he's like we're going to be more conditioned than the other guys and you just kind of juiced with him. Yeah, listen, him definitely at post interview, I had the biggest feeling of like,
Starting point is 00:12:24 man, I would die for this guy. For sure. Because it's no shortcuts. It's all discipline. You have to do every single small thing and every single step that you take in that building, like better be with intention or it's not good enough.
Starting point is 00:12:37 And I'm like, that's a cool standard to have. Yeah. He's a, if you're on time, you're late kind of guy. Yeah. But also,
Starting point is 00:12:44 you just, you just, like you said, you just want to die for him already. He just seems like a coach that can motivate and, like, lead the masses. I feel like you have even, like, more respect for him, too, because a lot of coaches will do that and then just, like, performance matters and it just won't happen.
Starting point is 00:13:00 Miami to be where they were, like, for him to be that and then to go to the national championship just within a couple years is like, oh, shit. And it was so cool to hear. And, I mean, he'll talk more about it in his interview kind of speaking to that is, like, he grew up driving over to Miami practices, like, as a kid on his bike. and watching him. I'm like, man, the fact that he gets to be the head coach
Starting point is 00:13:21 of the team that he rode his bike to go, just try to get a glimpse of practice. It's cool, and I always have a soft spot for those coaches that actually love the university that they're coaching because there's so few of them, especially like South Carolina's a perfect example. Like Steve Spurrier, he's the best coach we ever had, but we all know that he doesn't actually love South Carolina.
Starting point is 00:13:39 He lost Florida. Much champ, he didn't love South Carolina. Yeah. And that's why I'm partial to Beamer because I feel like he does love it. And Krista Ball, that's what's cool with him. I didn't get to go and, like, just seeing him on the field. Like, and, like, what you say, like, he's, like, Jack said, he's going to motherfucker you.
Starting point is 00:14:00 But, like, you know, like, behind the scenes, he's like, he's going to be, like, pat you on the back. Right. He's motherfucking you because he expects so much out of you. Yeah. One random story that, like, I don't want to give too much way from the interview. This won't. But he's talking about, I think it was. is one of their linebackers.
Starting point is 00:14:17 Their head guy and how he's like a senior and essentially he came up to Christopal and he's like I'm moving into a new spot right across facility and he goes and I want these two freshmen
Starting point is 00:14:28 he goes they're living with me and he goes I'm going to have them under my ropes and like making sure and he's like he's talking about how these freshmen are super high ceiling guys so just to like have like leaders on your team already just taking charge
Starting point is 00:14:40 trying to get the young guys activated you can tell they're building something special and it's very easy to be a fan of Miami. And that's the reason that brand is so important in college football. Like, it's going to be so much easier for Miami to have, to potentially have, like, a consistent top 10 team because they have seniors that they care about playing for the U. And it's so hard to find that with NIO and everything at other schools that, like, people that will die for the T or Oklahoma State that, like, they would care enough to bring the freshman in and be like, no, like, you got to take this junk serious
Starting point is 00:15:12 and keep it, keep the standards. That's sick. Yeah, but Freeman also, like, I bet if I was, and he spoke about, like, the moms and his interview, I'm sure if I was a mom, I would probably choose. Oh, man, that's gold right there. Yeah. I don't know, I know he believes it, but what a great tactic as well. I know.
Starting point is 00:15:32 I feel like McGuire is the kind of coach that, like, your dad would like, if, like, he's like, your dad's more chill. Moms would love Freeman, but if you were, like, a kind of like a troublemaker as a kid, you're sending your kid to Christopher. Also, McGuire, like, just from what I can tell, like outside looking in, and you might already know this about tech fans. Like, growing up in Texas Tech fans,
Starting point is 00:15:53 like, he is the perfect coach for that school. Right. Like, he is literally, I don't think he went there, but he is Texas Tech. Like, that is how they are, like, passionate, kind of, like, I love, I love tech fans. All my tech, like, friends are, like, some of the, like, coolest people I know.
Starting point is 00:16:09 Yeah. And I just know, like, you go to Notre Dame, Miami, like it's awesome and they're accommodating those are like huge brands historic brands so like it's just good to see tech like on the up right uh it's i was gonna say it's cool to see like in here everything from notre dame because when we went there like a couple years ago it's like a little bit more closed doors we kind of had to make make some things happen but now it's like we've been here a couple times now they know who we are and like being able to do whatever we want like i just think about when me you and g were just in the stands like getting banged up i mean
Starting point is 00:16:40 in the fall you might see will and taylor running out out with the team at this point. That's how the access was. But one more thing on Joey McWire, Colump was telling me when we were at Notre Dame, he was like, man, I wish you could have met Joey. He was like, he truly took, like, individual time with every person on the trip. And I don't know if you spoke with him individually.
Starting point is 00:16:58 And, like, I don't know if you want to talk about that. Definitely. I mean, immediately when we walk in, he introduces himself to Matt. Yeah. Joey McGuire was talking about he was on some bad, he was on some bachelor party. And he was like, I was actually in Nashville. Maybe it was for his son or something.
Starting point is 00:17:16 And he was like, I think we were at like Whiskey Row. And Matt was like posting something on his phone. And then Matt just goes, Whiskey Row, yeah, yeah. Pops his head up. And Coast McGarries like, see, he knows what I'm talking about. He perked right up when he heard Whiskey Row. And Matt's like, yeah, you know, that's a fire spot. And so Matt's committing on the spot.
Starting point is 00:17:34 On the spot. So they like, he bonded with Matt. He was asking, he asked every single person where they're from. And so his conversation with me asking where I'm from, what part of the state? Oh, we actually got one of our secondaries coach. He's from Greenville. You got to meet him. I'm like, of course, like this is, it was awesome.
Starting point is 00:17:54 And he's like, we also got this player. He's from Hilton Head and yada, yada, yada, like taking all the time. He's like, man, I love South Carolina. And then just throughout the whole tour, he's like always kind of checking in, which is always really cool for the coaches to do for the guys in the back. Yeah. And unfortunately with Freeman, we kind of got split up. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:13 But when we were in his office, I mean, obviously he and Will were chopping it up, but he was talking to me again. You started chopping it up with him. Yeah, like he was asking me where I'm from the same thing. And he's talking about his relationship with Coach Beamer, some of the guys they have on their team from South Carolina, just asking me all different questions. And I'm like, dude, you are everything that I thought you would be on TV.
Starting point is 00:18:35 And it was just, it was cool to see all of them kind of be so personable. and Freeman you can tell is a great guy because you walk into his office and it's a shrine to his family I mean it's literally it's all of his old like memorabilia from playing days and games and then it's like all of his dads because I think his dad was in the Navy or he has like all his Navy medals and then it's just every photo there's like paintings of the family you know individuals everywhere and he's 40 and he's got six kids so he's been pumping them out there and like the clip of him talking about like his wrestling stuff
Starting point is 00:19:09 He just seems like that dad that's like not like screaming at it, but he's like just kind of like, yeah, and like, he's talking about how he's like, he's like only went to one match in person and like that video came from it. But he was like, I can't operate the way I need to as a dad and as the coach of Notre Dame in person.
Starting point is 00:19:27 So he's like, I watched him in my office and he says he's like moving around. Yeah, that's like, which is sick. I know it's because it's for so many of those coaches, it's so hard to be present with their family. and you can tell, I mean, that's a perfect example. Like, he's not there, and it seems like it's for the reasons
Starting point is 00:19:45 because he does want the focus to be on his kid and not him, but he's fully tapped into everything going on in his kid's life, which is just a cool testament for young coaches, because I'm sure a lot of young coaches look up to him, and like what a standard is set for them, which is awesome. I have one question about Notre Dame. I've been itching to ask, did y'all run into Devin Fitzgerald?
Starting point is 00:20:07 We saw them, but, We saw him work. We, yeah. I mean, does he look like a future cardinal? Maybe he's his father's son for sure. Dude, that guy.
Starting point is 00:20:16 Is he big? Does he look good? He looked strong hands. Yeah. Like that A. Like his pops. Exactly. You say big ass?
Starting point is 00:20:23 Larry Fitz got a big ass. Yeah. Matt's not even kidding. That's like a thing. That's the thing that's talked about. Will's is pretty big. I'm looking. But like Larry's like in Matt's defense,
Starting point is 00:20:36 like Larry's was like, oh, that he was. He's squat. Like, Will's, Will's got like wider hips that makes it look a little bit bigger, but Larry's is like a shelf. Yeah, it's crazy because also Jerome Bennett's son
Starting point is 00:20:48 goes to Notre Dame. Blacksco Berris. Yeah, Plaxico Burris. Holy cakes. That's not edited. That's Cakezilla. That's create.
Starting point is 00:20:57 You just look up Larry Fitzgerald's butt. Yeah. If he was wearing all black, it's that night, you can't really see. And it's just from behind. Yeah. At the club,
Starting point is 00:21:05 Matt will go up, push up on Larry Fitzhins. He see the dreads too. I think it's like a long hair. At club vibes. That's why he's my favorite player. You fall for Larry Fitts. Yeah, he's going to be good, I think.
Starting point is 00:21:19 They got a squaw. Enough of looking at his butt. Enough of Larry Fitzgerald's ass. How's his son? Yeah, I think I didn't see this video, but we have a video from running around. And it truly, like, you can just, without even knowing who it is,
Starting point is 00:21:34 you kind of like, wait, that's got to be Larry Fitzts. Yeah, I saw somebody. It was something on Twitter. was like, I love how when you can tell it's like a legend's son just by like, their mannerisms. I was watching the guy. I'm like, I don't really, I forgot that his son was there.
Starting point is 00:21:47 I'm like, he looks pretty fluid. I mean, I don't know who it is. It's honestly pretty crazy that Larry Fitzgerald's son is in playing college football. It kind of makes me feel old, like, I don't know that old, but. I, dude, I wish freaking Marvin Harrison Jr. played like Marvin Harrison,
Starting point is 00:22:01 because Marvin Harrison Jr. is way more athletic. Yeah. Yeah. But Harrison was like the pristine route runner. And I feel like Harrison Jr. just... He's just a freak. He's a big body. There's some dark pass with Marvin Harrison.
Starting point is 00:22:17 We would have to get into that. That's true. But man, him and Reggie Wayne, what a combo. Peyton Manning, Dallas Clark. Brian Stokely. Larry Fitzgerald and Quarland, we had dogs too. Y'all did have a... Y'all had a squad.
Starting point is 00:22:32 Steve Breston? Steve Breston. Y'all know him? I will say still on the topic of the coaches, looking back on it because we visited Dan Lading's house last year in Oregon. He was kind enough to invite us. We went over to Marcus Freedon's house. Yeah, what's the comparison here?
Starting point is 00:22:48 Marcus Freeman takes it. For real? So they both have like the same kind of idea going on where they have the main house and then they have an entire separate house that is like their main cave. But Marcus's was four times the size of landings. It has a full basketball court in there, full. full weight room two-story I mean there's probably
Starting point is 00:23:09 six like hundred inch TVs in there it's pretty sweet someone creeping over there I'm hearing something what are you doing Derek come get in here no it's Derek Derek get in here man and clump what's up dude we're talking about Larry Fitzgerald's ass
Starting point is 00:23:24 Clum what are we getting part two and on he said right now the hell's going on never are you guys just moving up all of the I'm leaving for a wedding and so I take some of that bruise and like, wait. Taking a couple of Bud lights to the wedding. Where's the wedding?
Starting point is 00:23:42 Chattanooga. Oh, chat town. We're driving out. The Newga. It's, my, my fiancee's like best friend, and so it's all their friends, so I don't know anybody. So I'm just going to roll up with a fucking alcohol. Have you been to chat before? Love it.
Starting point is 00:23:52 Love it. Such a good town. Go to Yellow deli. You've never been. Yellow deli. It's run by a cult, but they make insane food. It's a great cold. I mean, I wouldn't join it, but they do make probably some of the best food in chatelologists.
Starting point is 00:24:06 New go. Yeah, Yellow Deli, look it up. Well, good. Have a good episode. Hey, hey, thanks. See you. See, brother. Safe travels. I'll see you guys like, whatever. Yeah. Part 2 and on. Coming soon. We've been covering spring tour.
Starting point is 00:24:21 And, hey, do you want to give any words on your favorite stop and why? Ooh, favorite stop. Yeah. Damn. Show him that Larry Fitz. Favorite stop for me, hands down. Notre Dame. I mean,
Starting point is 00:24:38 Kev. That's who you'd commit to of the three. I remember we had this conversation and the guy like checked me in the sprinter van? He's like, what ain't the same?
Starting point is 00:24:45 But yeah, probably Notre Dame. Miami was sick, but Kev from Notre Dame. Kevin was awesome. We were the best friend. Contacts we've ever had. He texted me and I was like,
Starting point is 00:24:54 he said some of the long lines of when are we going to see each other again as a joke. I'm like, dude, I want you to be my best friend. He replied, I thought we already were. I'm like huge. You guys kind of look alike too.
Starting point is 00:25:03 Y'all really do. Except he's just got like a job. ginger blonde beard. Why we got to do that? When we pull up, they're like, both good energy. Good energy. Dude, he's got music taste, though, not me. And it's never too late, man. You just got a nice shirt. You were crushing the car. Yeah, wait, what? You were literally on ox the whole weekend. Which we actually, that's what we should. Oh, the hankster letting everyone know, I was on ox all week.
Starting point is 00:25:25 And you were killing it. It was fun. That car ride was. You, Jared, and Taylor are a dangerous trio. Truly. We had like the, the, I don't even know what to call that. Like the zoomies at night. Luckily, air doesn't need... Dude, we were crazy. No, we were... It was to the point where, like, you're lucky the air doesn't need consent. Because y'all were...
Starting point is 00:25:45 Y'all are going nuts on that air. Taylor and Jared, I wasn't doing that. I couldn't breathe from laughing. I was dying in the front of the Sprintervan as they're dancing. Shut up, man. Even on the way back, after that incredible dinner at Prime 112, there was kind of a stagnant, like five, ten minutes, and then you guys just started
Starting point is 00:26:05 ripping again and I'm so full in the back I'm like how are they doing I can't lie bro I was in my seat I was like God I got to move to the back How funny was the sound of the Bluetooth connecting too so everyone's tired and it's like Do do do do Clums those are alive again
Starting point is 00:26:21 Oh man I did I did find a new song though from that whole thing I forget the name of it which is embarrassing at this moment Perky's call perky's call oh yeah bro I left the airport and went to Flag football just blasted He's called.
Starting point is 00:26:35 Go to Coach 5 to 7 flag football. All right. Love his boys. Peace. Thinking about the blicks I hit. I had to. Dude, what a song. Better Klomp.
Starting point is 00:26:46 See you, brother. Love you. See you in five. So Freeman's house is better than Lanings? Yeah, I mean, they're both incredible problems. Yeah. We didn't go. I will honestly give Dan Laining the edge a little bit because we got to go inside.
Starting point is 00:27:02 We got to go inside. Inside a train. Dan Laning's house. and we did not get to go inside Freeman's, which is fine. And also, Freeman had, what, 20 guys at least on the team? CJ Carr included. It had to be all the starters. Yeah, I mean, they were all just there playing gotcha, like all this stuff.
Starting point is 00:27:22 Also, I'm curious, what did you, what do y'all call? Because I've gotcha is a whole new one. I see, I've always called it gotcha. And I feel like it's regional. We're talking about the game where you have two balls and you're shooting a free throw and you have to make the shot before the, knockout. Yeah, see people call that knockout. I call it knockout.
Starting point is 00:27:39 Yeah, I feel like gotcha is like a Nashville thing. You call that gotcha? I started calling it knockout just because when I say it, no one's really picking up on it. Knockout. I've never heard gotcha and I never heard. Taylor calls it bump out. Yeah, bump out is lame. Like, we can go ahead and put that at third immediately.
Starting point is 00:27:59 Gotcha. I've never heard that in my life. Yeah, he had some guys in there. And I will also say, we've discussed this, but dude, C.J. Carr is. is such a raw athlete. I wish y'all could have seen him on the ping pong table. It was the most impressive thing I've ever seen. He literally looks like he could be like an amateur.
Starting point is 00:28:15 Like balls of fury type shit. Dude, I mean, his force, the force been on it that he's doing and he's cooking the guy that he's playing. And the guy he's playing was honestly very good too. Yeah, he was getting him back to him. And when they start to go on the CJ car, Heisman push, you've got to release some ping pong tapes of him. Because people are going to eat it up.
Starting point is 00:28:34 And yeah, he was a shooter too. He was spraying threes. You can just tell he was the all athlete in high school. The dude that was behind Taylor was like, I can't shoot. And then it just isn't one one. I know. He was playing. Because, I mean, he was already dripping sweat by the time we got there.
Starting point is 00:28:49 It was all right. Clearly he can play. Did they say like, I always wonder when my athletes go over to the coach's house. Is that like a common thing? Or is it just like, oh, it's just a special night because we're here. Yeah. Like, come over. Is it like, I think it depends on the coach.
Starting point is 00:29:03 Like, I don't see like Christabal being a guy where like, Like a ton of dudes are coming over, but he also seems like a guy who never is leaving the facility. There's a good chance Chris Ball lives in like a two bedroom. Yeah, literally. But I don't know. Like I remember people have told me about Alabama players when Saban was coaching. He had a lake house and they would always go out on the boat with Sabin, which I can't imagine. And as a Tennessee fan, a more hilarious day than just be on the lake with Nick Sabin.
Starting point is 00:29:29 Yeah, I think it's a lot of times the position coaches will have people over. Yeah. So yeah, I bet for the head coach, it's probably like, you know, bigger events. I'll watch like Oregon's videos and it seems like they'll have like leadership meetings at Landings like hosting area. Right. Or they'll go on like retreats and stuff. But yeah, I've always wondered like, I mean, I never went to.
Starting point is 00:29:49 Obviously it's D3, but like I never went to my coach's house. Yeah. And I would say too, like across all the coaches we've been around, they've all been awesome. But Dan Landing, like even through all of everybody's hospitality, Dan Landing is still. the number one guy. He pours into everybody on our team. He clump, FaceTime before his birthday.
Starting point is 00:30:11 He picks up after the first ring. Starts talking to him about who knows what. Like, Dan Lending is one of one in college football. I made like an organ edit. And he, and clump put me in a group child with Lanting. And he's like,
Starting point is 00:30:22 hey, this is fire. Like, I need this song. Send him a song. I said, I just added this to my pre-game playlist. I'm like,
Starting point is 00:30:27 oh, fuck yeah. God, man, that's the best. I think I've mentioned this before. But when we were in Vegas, me and Shannon,
Starting point is 00:30:33 and with Dan Laining, Dan Laining made such a personal effort to get to know Shannon too, talking about their hometown, her swimming career in college, all this stuff. And I'm like, this is not fake.
Starting point is 00:30:43 This is not some, like, gimmick that he's doing. Like, this is who he is on off the field. And dude, such a, yeah,
Starting point is 00:30:49 I honestly, yeah, it's still landing. It's still landing. And I, dude, if Dan Laning in Oregon were located more centrally
Starting point is 00:30:57 in the U.S., to me, to me, they would have already won five in a row. He has to be. be out there though it'd be unfair if he if he was at miami or notre dame it wouldn't be fair but it's all like it and also landing just be like landing and then with nike yeah it's like the perfect landing and organ feels right yeah he does man honestly all the coaches feel like they're very
Starting point is 00:31:19 true to nature of their teams right now that we've been to the only one that doesn't and he's not even there anymore would was brian kelly yeah oh 100% i thought you're about to say chiro more No, he fit right. I think the guys are hanging out at his house. He's probably like, hey, y'all can't come over tonight. I'm hiding something. I'm out of town.
Starting point is 00:31:41 Practice canceled tomorrow morning, boys. Enjoy the day off. I'm trying to think other schools that we've been to that. Yeah, I mean, Brian Kelly at LSU obviously wasn't a fit. Yeah. And seeing Freeman, I bet the minute that Freeman got his nameplate slid across at his office, Notre Dame just took the biggest sigh of relief. And they were like, man, we can get back to have him.
Starting point is 00:32:03 fun and enjoying working for a guy that's like actually you know cares about the school and everything for sure and brian kelly is a good football coach for sure but he's just that more old school yeah he doesn't seem he doesn't seem like a guy that's going to have the players over yeah exactly family uh lane is just that he's SEC i thought he fit into old miss perfectly yeah he did old miss was the perfect yeah but i mean if if he starts winning everyone's tune will change the go he was born to be at ls yeah yeah But I'm with y'all. I think Ole Miss was the perfect Lane Kippen.
Starting point is 00:32:38 Old Miss was perfect. Because it's small, kind of middle of nowhere. Like, he gets to be the biggest fish. Massive party school. Yeah. Matt Malone, everybody. Release the files. We got to put it as a clip.
Starting point is 00:32:54 Nothing wrong with liking girls, Matt Malone. Back to Larry Fitz. Yeah. Now, like him in, I love some Larry Fitz. What Coop and I were whispering about her earlier. I believe we hit a bet. Yes, a Josh Young home run. Yeah, and tell him how you spell young.
Starting point is 00:33:12 J-U-N-G. Yes, and we hit it. I think Sherm put us on. Texas Tech Legend. Oh, really? What are the odds on that? Probably 7-50, right? What?
Starting point is 00:33:23 He stinks. Sherm, but he's been sneaking this year. I'm harsh, but he had a home run today, like literally while we were talking. Sherm sends us a text earlier today. He's like, I just got. Intel and then sends the bet slip. He's like, Burger, talk to Young, like, whatever it wasn't. He's going to hit a bomb.
Starting point is 00:33:42 Yeah. I said, whatever, I'm in. His first of the season. I need that bet. I wonder what the Intel was, the real deal. I won almost $300 I signed on a home-in-parlowe. Coupes to cash out, Ken. I had a betting king.
Starting point is 00:33:56 Yeah, I had Yordon Alvarez, Teoscar Hernandez, and Manny Machado. As soon as Yordon hit, it was like a $100 bet to win. $100 you put on it? Yeah, but like, just hear me out. Hey, I'm hearing you out. There's $100 to win 17K. Yordon Alvarez. Yordon is facing like the worst pitcher on Earth for the Rockies.
Starting point is 00:34:22 He hits a home run on third inning, cash out for 3.30. Dang. And then I'm assuming the other two. Oh, well, then I put a, then I hedged it and put a both of them in their own parlay and then for $0. For $100 for $50. and then Tay Oscar hit a home run but late in the game
Starting point is 00:34:37 Mani Machado had like one more at bat so the cash out for $50 is like $57 so I just 7 extra bucks netted and Machado didn't go yard Machado walked in his next to bat thank God because 17K would have kept me up at night yeah oh I mean yeah but I slept easy knowing like
Starting point is 00:34:54 Coop's love of the game yeah bro 357 bucks I make one bed every five months I'm like man this thing that's kind of how I operate I make one bet kind of go big and for whatever reason it does good. If a player is ever looking for an honest evaluation of their performance,
Starting point is 00:35:10 just tune into this podcast and listen to Coop. 100%. Talk about. No free passes. No free passes. He'll give it to you straight. You might need to have Coop call on Spring Tour just so he can adequately judge
Starting point is 00:35:21 these players, coaches, and facilities because he's going to give it to you. I flunked out of spring tour. You and me both, brother. You and me both. I've only been won. Oklahoma State. Oklahoma State, if you're watching this,
Starting point is 00:35:34 win like 10 games this year so we can go next year they'll have to bring me please bring coop home I couldn't convince him this year but yeah I mean you did have a legendary performance how you're only I know but you know what that's my only one so like we talk about it all the time and it's like
Starting point is 00:35:48 that's my legacy we can only tell that story so many times I gotta go to one more we do need more stories of coup on spring tour let me go to one more where it's not my second month on the job with my life that's kind of what Mitch is talking about them
Starting point is 00:36:04 make spring tour great again like spring to her honestly used to be kind of a party bro and i'm glad it's no longer that because they're long days and early mornings like it was it was a lot of fun when we were doing that but also sucked at the same time no and then matt's sick hearing about it oh dude if matt was in my place on that trip he would be here that would have been alive that matt would be begging to go on every single trip yeah there is i have a like an all-time video in my phone we were when we were in a section in nebraska Jack was trying to pass out wristbands for people to come up and we just like, nobody wanted to come right.
Starting point is 00:36:42 They gave me 10, like, I could bring anyone up. And this is when I'm single. You know, I'm still kind of, I'm still trying to figure it out. And I probably went up to three or four different pockets of women. I'm like, y'all want free wristbands, free drinks. And they're like, nah, we are good. And then I look over and JP's just, the biggest smile you've ever seen on his face.
Starting point is 00:37:03 I'm like, all right, I got to go one more. Just went 0 for 4, but. I have some videos from Austin when we were in Texas. That was just when it was like a Thursday night, Thursday night or whatever it was. But like the amount of dudes that were just around this ping pong table and just causing a ruckus was electric. Awesome, man. That was a vibe. It was a good time.
Starting point is 00:37:27 Just hanging out with laser. Oh, yeah. I forgot that was that time. We also got a bunch of bikes that time. I could do it. And rode around. Yeah. Yeah, that was fun.
Starting point is 00:37:33 His e-bikes are on 6th Street. Will left his wallet. Yeah. And I stayed for a bachelor party that weekend. I forgot about that. And I picked up his wallet for him and I said, hey, you could be a real legend if you let me buy one round of drinks for the bachelor party on your card. He said, bro, go for you. I owe you.
Starting point is 00:37:50 That is awesome. And everybody was like, do, Will Compton's the man. That's sick. Man, we make good memories. You got to go to Texas Tech, man. You got to go to Texas Tech. Matt, we make good memories back here, man. We don't do shit back here when everyone travels.
Starting point is 00:38:12 Yeah, I was just trying to grind. I'm fine with saying, I don't do shit. Delaney does? You want to talk about that? Delaney does was awesome. So obviously, Supercross was in town this past weekend. And my family, the Carsley's family is a big motocross, Supercross family. My dad did it for 30 years.
Starting point is 00:38:33 My brother did it for like 10. before he fucked his shoulder up. You can go and listen to that and what all happened to him on last week's episode. But I kind of came up with, or I wanted to do it with Will and Taylor, but they were like not really about it. But I kind of just kind of was talking about it
Starting point is 00:38:55 with Delaney during football season saying, hey, Supercross is in town. He was always like, I'm down, I'm down. And then like whenever the last time he was in, he's like, hey, Supercross will come. I'm like, yeah, for sure, like, work down to do it. so then just kind of thought of like this is like not fuck will and Taylor but like they don't have to do it we can just make content with delaney because delaney's delaney and he's walking content um so got to pass and then shout out sean Brennan and Joe Weber they are the coolest dudes um that I've gotten to like talk to and work with like they work for Supercross and they hook everything up we're literally literally like whatever you want to do You guys want to ride a bike. We'll make it happen.
Starting point is 00:39:37 And it just so happened that there's a motocross team sponsored by First Form. So we were able to meet up with them. And it was funny because my brother raced against one of the guys on the team. And like, so we, we've been to the same tracks and like talked all about that stuff. It was, it was pretty cool. And like when we watch, when we're watching, we're like, oh, that's Cody Shock like, root for him kind of thing. But when we did that whole shot, like, I was shitting bricks. It almost got you
Starting point is 00:40:05 It bust that wheelie It almost got you I look so like I look terrible Just sitting there Because I'm just sitting there Like this And of course
Starting point is 00:40:13 You're the closest To the frame of the camera And like my dad's just taking it Because he's just stoked To see us doing it And then it gets 500,000 views on Instagram And people are just like
Starting point is 00:40:23 This dude on the TTR is a bum You had that helmet on though Yeah I can't tell But like the three of them Are like up in like Ready position And I'm just sitting there
Starting point is 00:40:33 Like an 80 and just fucking dump the clutch and thank god i'm i weigh 215 on a little 125 because if it was on a 250 i would have been yeah it was that would have been the greatest video that's ever been made and i would have felt terrible because those bikes are so expensive dude but the way that the riders talked about them they're like oh you know it is we break it they fix it yeah but it's like professional riders not just some new you're trying to ride it but it was i mean that weekend for me is one of the favorite things, one of my favorite things that we get to do here. I know I'm really the kind of only one that gets to experience it.
Starting point is 00:41:08 Like I would love for everybody else to, but you guys were just traveling and exhausted for everything. But like having my- I'm definitely down to check it out next year. Yeah. Having my family down for it and like seeing my dad, like, we got to meet Chad Reed and he's like a legend in motorcross and like seeing him, my dad like kind of geek out when Chad Reed's just standing right in front of him talking and stuff. and like they met Ricky Carmichael at Morgan Wallens and what's crazy is like my mom
Starting point is 00:41:38 Morgan Wallons my mom was like Ricky just like one finger like come here I'm like you can't do that to a grown man your mom did that yes your mom can do that though did it did it to Ricky Carlin your mom has Kahuna she is not scared of anything and she was like so in like years ago my parents used to hang out Ricky Carmichael's parents at tracks so she was like I know your parents we and then so Ricky just ended up hanging out for five minutes but like I'm sure Nate and my dad were like what the fuck is going on but I mean Nate and his buddy Pat got in here Tuesday night it landed at 930 we get home Nate and Brooke landed at the same time we get home brook's exhausted I'm exhausted because it's way past my bedtime and Nate's like all right pat you're ready I'm like you guys are
Starting point is 00:42:30 going out right now he's like fuck yeah what do you mean first night can't be the first night tuesday night until saturday night they are not home before 2 a.m every single night and it is i'm like what the fuck is wrong with you guys and like he's the same age as matt ryan chef like he on vacation i know but like do you think you could go on a five-day bender like that if it was spring break matt but i i this is the first sign of What I think what I'm chalking it up to is like blue collar people. Yeah. Like they are just different breeds and it's like your brother just drinking beer all day.
Starting point is 00:43:13 Oh yeah. Coal beer. Just bush, bush lights or bud lights, bud lights, bud lights, bud lights. Bush is still part of that family. Yeah. He's drinking beer the entire time and like he'll wake up. I'm like, how you guys feeling? And Pat's like, oh, you know, kind of tired.
Starting point is 00:43:31 I'm like, yeah, no shit. got in here at 4 a.m. But there was one night they came home and I just had like my crock pot leftover meal and I could just hear them just going ham. Munching it, going crazy. What did you make? It was like this meatball, pasta
Starting point is 00:43:45 stuff, it's actually kind of fire. Come on. Is that the photo you posted? You're like, I beat her tonight. Yeah. Low key, I wanted to replies. I'm like, which one is yours? Because I couldn't, I feel like you've eaten that other one before for dinner. That was rice cakes and cottage cheese. For a second, I thought it was...
Starting point is 00:44:03 I thought it was a pop tart. And I was like, this man really posted this. Like, with confidence. But also, is that what Brooke likes is rice cakes with cottage cheese? It was like rice cakes with cottage cheese. One had, I think, hot honey on it. And the other had like, balsamic on it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:44:18 That sounds disgusting. She's all for me up. I'm like, fuck, no, I don't want that. But, yeah, I mean, this weekend was awesome. And it was, like, Delaney is... Delaney. Like, we all know him, and he's just truly is the man. he's one of one
Starting point is 00:44:32 he's a Dan landing yeah I think Delaney landing I think Delaney does has some legs so what'd you say
Starting point is 00:44:42 Dan Walker let us know in the comments if you want to see more Delaney does and what do you want to see Delaney do yeah also there's nothing better than looking
Starting point is 00:44:53 watching the vlog and just seeing Dan in the background Dan Carsley Mitch's dad dad for everybody doesn't know seeing him in the background shirt tucked in belt loop in just dadding it up and he's got to be front runner
Starting point is 00:45:05 for the dad of the year this year. My my mom makes fun of him all the time. It's like bro untuck your shirt. I can't. He came to Thomas's show him and his mom came to Thomas show on Thursday night and I saw him and it was great and I immediately congratulate because Dan just retired and he goes well
Starting point is 00:45:21 I'm working again. I know. And I go no but it's on his term. Yeah it's like he's like a contractor per se um and he's able to charge 10 times more. Yeah. Does anybody here watch Love on the Spectrum?
Starting point is 00:45:34 No. I've seen clips and, you know. Have you seen this kid Dylan? He's the Hispanic kid from California. He's always like, interesting. I don't think so. Dude, he says per se all the time. And when you just said it, it just triggered this last episode I watched.
Starting point is 00:45:49 The kid is all time. Like, yeah. If I had a top five list of human beings, Dylan might be number one. Over Chris Hemsworth. Wow. That says a lot. But. But yeah, when they, when they saw.
Starting point is 00:46:01 when they saw you and G at Whiskey Row Yeah, Dirk's They were fired up And my mom just Pure, pure mom mode Was like She like caressed his face
Starting point is 00:46:15 Like how are you? I'm like mom he's 30 years old You can't be doing that And it was her birthday I was just such a mom thing I went up to Jack and G I'm like hey I'm sorry if she's doing too much It's like it's a birthday
Starting point is 00:46:27 And fuck off it's her birthday Hey sorry my mom's doing too much He let his mom have fun you want to have Nate have fun. I'm not saying you're not having fun. I'm not saying don't have fun. It's like, you know how it is.
Starting point is 00:46:37 I know. But like that's just like being a son and like having that like level of embarrassment that like your mom does. And then your friends are like, did your mom rips? That's exactly what it is. I'm trying to buy your mom a shot right now. Yeah. But no, it was. It was a great time having them in town.
Starting point is 00:46:52 It is one of like, I'm sure for those that like have family come in town. It's like it's a lot and it's great having them here. But it's like once they leave, it's like. not like a weight off your back but it's like okay i can breathe kind of because it was kind of like stressful like trying to figure out all of the shit what delaney does and like super cross and stuff and yeah like foul came to the race on saturday and we got we had to get there early because deline and i were going to do like a track walk and that took like 30 to 45 minutes and then i got these passes and some one of them told me that like hey you need physical tickets to be able to get in
Starting point is 00:47:28 but then like I was like all right can I get those and they're they were ripping around hanging out with other people just like that's your job so they're like we'll be up in a minute and then I texted again I was like so I need these physical tickets or whatever and then they were like oh no just tell them
Starting point is 00:47:44 to meet you here and then you're able to get them in I see my like the first thing my dad says so oh about fucking time and I'm like what do you I'm trying that's what foul said no that's what my dad's oh and then foul I just Fowles just in the back
Starting point is 00:47:58 like he's got his sunglasses on you know like you all know Fowl he's just kind of like we gotta have foul on I'm surprised we haven't really do I know Fow was bitching we had We had an 830 flag game last night And I'm like he didn't answer the group chat
Starting point is 00:48:13 I'm like you come in tonight He's like unfortunately yeah I'm like what do you mean unfortunately He's like 830 it's late I'm like You're not 70 years old I mean he might be the one flag game I play with y'all He truly was immobile
Starting point is 00:48:24 He pulled his back and could not get off the ground He went to the ER. And Mitch, 8.30 is late for you. Yeah, but it's not like, 10 minutes ago, you just said that it was 9.30 and he were piss at your brother. It was. I was pissed at him. 830, like, you're done by 930.
