Hello, my love. Welcome back to the Busy at Pretty Podcast. I'm your host, Jaden Haley. I hope you are having a great start or end to your day whenever you're listening to this and are just feeling proud of yourself because you're doing things every day that your past self wouldn't have done. So be proud of yourself and every step of the way. If you're new here, welcome. I talk all about how to become the best version of you and ultimately just feel happier in life, create routines and habits that are going to move you closer to where you
want to be in life. So I'm so happy you're here and I'm very excited about today's episode.
If you've been saying my millions of posts that I've been posting over Instagram and
TikTok, you know I had a fancy Nancy style party. So in honor of me turning 23, I want to do
an episode on 23 lessons that will change your perspective in life. Because let me just tell you,
there are things that I've been keeping in my entire life and just living by that truly just
change my perspective. It's almost kind of like those things like the first time you hear it,
it really can change your life. And sometimes you have to just keep repeating certain quotes
and those lessons and almost make it sick with you and be consistent with it for a while to see
that change and motivation and understand why that is so life changing. Anyways, these are 23 things
that truly changed my perspective of everything in life and that I live by today that I'm so excited
to share with you. But before we get into that, let's get into our weekly review. Starting
off this week. I had my birthday, which was so lovely. I had the perfect girls day with my mom.
We just had a fun girls day by going to breakfast, lunch, getting coffee, maja, going to a cute
farm, walking around hotels, going to the beach, just the whole type of like perfect girls day.
And then with that, we stayed at a hotel, which was so beautiful. It was truly just the perfect
staycation. It's like sometimes you just need a one night stay somewhere to reset your brain
and your thoughts. And that can be the motivation for you to actually get back to work because
now I'm excited to get back to doing things and back onto routine, but you sometimes just need
that little refresh. Another thing this week is I got so many flowers from my birthday, which I'm
so grateful for, but my entire room looks like a florist shop. And I honestly have just been
bathing and relaxing in the flowers. Like, it is so beautiful to have flowers surrounded by you.
And this is your sign. Just get even one flower picked from the side of the road.
or a bouquet from a local store near you and get yourself flowers because it will make you feel
so good and so loved and it just brings so much liveliness and nature to your room.
And lastly this week is I've been really just into the pastel and feminine spring energy lately.
Like I'm really just leading into everything pastel pink blue greens.
It just brings me so much life and color.
And I just got my like new sheets and new quilt.
And once I put it on my bed, I'm like, okay.
Okay, this is what I'm trying to feel, light, airy, feminine for spring. And I love like a dark,
cozy Gilmore Girl style feeling when it comes to winter. But also in the spring, I love leaning
into the pastels. And I feel like if there's a certain color or style calling you, make sure to
embrace it because suppressing it will only make you unhappy. There was a time where I just felt
everyone loved the modern style. And I was like, I cannot fall victim to the modern style. And I was like, I cannot
fall victim to the modern style. But when I moved to my apartment, I found myself not decorating
towards the style I usually love. So I kept it very modern for a while. And then the minute I actually
just decorated exactly how I liked it, my entire place felt beautiful and I felt happy there.
So remember, embrace the style and the colors that you really love because this is your space,
your environment, and you need that in order to be happy. Now into my current obsessions.
My current obsession right now is sweet green bowls, and specifically the kids ones.
I always get a kids bowl, and it's literally only $9 and gets you such a nice portion of a bowl.
It's been my favorite lazy girl dinner lately.
Another current session right now is Susie Cakes.
I got a 9-inch cake for my birthday, and let's just say I ate half the entire cake in three days.
Yes, half the cake.
I was eating for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
It just was so good.
I'm like, you know, it's my birthday.
treating myself to the max.
So if I'm wanting cake for breakfast,
we're having cake for breakfast.
My last current obsession right now is hair glosses.
I absolutely love glossing my hair at home.
I do it all the time.
I use the deep hue gloss plus.
It's literally the best.
I love it.
It just makes my hair so shiny.
Now moving on to my goal of the week.
My goal of the week right now is to start letting go
of things that I have been like saving for later
or thinking, oh, I'm going to use in the future
because many of the times I do that,
I end up not using it.
it so I either need to use it now or let go to let something else new come into my life.
Another goal of the week right now is to make more flower bouquets.
I really, like I said, love leaning into solo hobbies.
So one of the things I would love to do is start buying different flowers or just handpicking
flowers places and just making cute little bouquets for myself and people.
And my last goal of the week right now is to use my brick device.
There's this thing called brick and you just put it to your back of your phone and it helps
you get off your phone.
it like blocks it like bricks it out basically but it blocks you from going on any of the apps that
you like ban it from it just helps you really be mindful of doom scrolling and if you do need more
ideas on how to stop doom scrolling and the motivation to stop doing that my recent episode
I really recommend checking that out because it can be really helpful on how to just get that
motivation to stop and start being more productive and stop procrastinating now on to the
affirmation of the week I am open to becoming a new version of my
myself that I have been yearning for. I love that so much because it's letting yourself evolve.
And also it's allowing yourself to grow and change instead of staying comfortable.
Now on to the self-love question of the week.
What have I done today that I am proud of?
I love that question so much because it notices the small wins throughout the day and also
practices self-acknowledgment, which is super important.
So I really recommend asking yourself that.
And now when it comes to the podcast review, if you want to be featured on next week's episode,
make sure to leave a podcast review over Apple Podcasts and leave a rating over Spotify.
This review is from Alva and she said,
Hi, Jaden, this is exactly what I needed today.
I have been struggling with doom scrolling for the last few weeks.
Thank you for always motivating me.
Thank you so much, Alva, for your sweet review.
I'm so glad it's been motivation to help you stop doom scrolling.
And I'm always rooting for you.
Now without further ado, let's get into today's episode.
Here are 23 lessons that that will change your perspective.
on life. Some of these are going to hit you spot on and you'll just remember them forever. And then some
of these you just may not feel right now, but remember them in the future. And then all of a sudden,
you're going to be like, yeah, okay, that makes sense. And I fully relate to that now. We're all in
different stages of our life and you are on one of the many stages that you are going to experience
in your life. So these may perfectly resonate to you or may not resonate to you right now in your
life. But regardless, I think these are 23 things that are really going to change your perspective.
So let's not waste any time and get into the first one. Number one, your life is shaped more by daily
habits than big goals. What this is referring to is small things that you do every day and consistency
are the biggest driving forces to being where you want to be in your future. Another way to look at it
is your routine quietly determines where you end up. So thinking about that and realizing that things are not
going to be big shifts overnight and overnight success rarely ever happens. And it's also not
being like, okay, I achieve this big goal. And that's what's leading me to my future because big goals
take a while to achieve and it takes lots of effort to achieve. And it also can feel almost
intimidating to achieve one big goal at a time because think about this. Sometimes they'll take
lots of large goals to lead you to even a step closer to where you actually want to be.
So it's having that mindset and remembering that the little things,
things that you do in your daily life is what's going to drive you closer to where your future of
where you want to be. Number two, most people are too focused on themselves to judge you as much as
you think. This is so true because people are usually thinking about their own lives, their own
insecurities, all the things that they have going on their life, work, school, relationships.
They're not thinking about you. And if they are, then they really have nothing else to do with
their life. But in reality, I promise you, people are way too focused on themselves.
to even think about judging you.
So stop thinking so much that people are judging you.
People are thinking about every move you're making.
And honestly, this way of thinking and this perspective is so freeing because it means you can
try things without overthinking it and thinking about other people's opinions.
Number three, where your attention goes, your life follows.
I love that so much.
It kind of reminds me of where your attention goes, energy flows.
But it is so true because if your attention is always on the negativity or comparison or
on something that is unhealthy and not the thing that you should be having in your life,
life is going to feel heavier.
When you intentionally focus on growth, hobbies, and positive things and positive relationships
in your life, your life is literally going to shift.
So where your attention goes and how you set your environment up is going to be how your life
follows.
Number four, you don't need everything figured out at any age.
Many times ages have like standards of what you should be having done or what you should
have already achieved. Sometimes people think, by 20, I want to achieve this, or by 25, I want to be
married. By 30, I want to have a few kids. And having these timelines, and these are, again,
standard timelines. They are not at all real timelines for anyone. You make your own timeline.
So you have to let the thought go of that you're off schedule or that you have to have everything
figured out by a certain age. Let me remind you some of the most successful people started
at later stages of their life.
So many people didn't even put out their first line of work until later in their life.
Julia Child, the chef, she literally did not launch her TV career until 50.
And that's when she took off.
Martha Stewart, she published her first cookbook at 41 and launched her magazine at 50.
People do not even start their careers until later in life sometimes because they're not ready yet
or they need to figure out what they truly love.
It is never too late to start.
and remember, timelines are not a true thing. You set your own timeline and you do not have to ever
have anything figured out by any age. The thing about figuring things out, we learn as we go. It's trial and
air and in order to learn, you have to try. Life isn't about something people solve once and it's done.
Everyone is constantly learning and adjusting as they go. So I think that's something that's really
important to remember because we put so much pressure from societal standards on what we need to be
having done by a certain age, and this is to remind you that you need to go by your own timeline
because there is no true timeline to life. Number five, discipline often matters more than motivation.
I feel like that really ties into when I say consistency over perfection, because let's be
honest, literally motivation, there's times in weeks I will feel so motivated and times I wake up.
I'm like, you know what, I don't think I ever care to work out again. I don't think I ever care
to work again. But guess what? There's going to be a day in a few days.
where I'm going to feel super motivated and super excited.
We all, even the most successful people, we all have our slums and that's normal.
It's human nature to feel unmotivated.
It's human nature to feel sad and tired and just not wanting to do anything.
But what matters is the discipline that we have and having the trust and relying on ourselves
that we can pick ourselves up even though we don't want to when in times of need.
Because motivation comes and goes, but habits keep things moving.
The people who get real results in their life and get closer to their goals and feel successful
are the ones who constantly show up even when they don't want to.
Now, number six, the life you want is usually on the other side of doing uncomfortable things.
This, this is so true, and I always say you have to get out of your comfort zone.
I always always say this, but you must be uncomfortable in order to grow.
You will never grow if you stay in your comfort zone.
We have to get uncomfortable in order to grow.
Growth rarely happens inside comfort zones.
You have to try new things.
Try speaking up, starting something that's scary or new.
And all that doing those things that are outside your comfort zone
creates change and creates growth and progress.
I can't be the only one who has this dream item of theirs that they always see,
whether it's a bag, a sweater, a top, and you're like, I just need that,
but it's like sold out everywhere.
That's me with this one vintage Duny and Burke bag.
I literally was looking everywhere for it and I somehow found one on a poshmark.
But not just one.
I found multiple of them at such a good price and I was like, wait, this is just too good to be true.
So if you know me, you know I am a poshmark girl.
Poshmark is a marketplace where you can list and sell as well as buy new items, vintage pieces,

When becoming the girl on your vision board, it is so important to have a set wellness routine.
it doesn't have to be a lot of time, whether you're traveling or just having a spring refresh,
have something for your health that you can rely on. That's why I love AG1. Ag1 is a daily health
drink clinically shown to support your gut health and fill in common nutrient gaps.
AG1 is so loved between me and my family. I drink it all the time, my mom, my dad, my brothers,
my grandpa, like we all love AG1 here. Most importantly, because it's so easy, you can literally
just pour it into water, shake it up, and you're done.
And it just feels so good to know that your energy, your immune health, and your gut health is all being supported.
I seriously could not have a spring refresh without it. It's literally my favorite right now.
Go to drinkag1.com slash pretty to get an AG1 flavor sampler in a bottle of vitamin D3 plus K2 for free in your AG1 welcome kit with your first AG1 subscription order.

Number seven, your environment affects you more than you realize.
Okay, this one is actually very true.
And this is why I talk about environments and where your room, your work, your house, everything, the way you set yourself up is how you're going to feel.
If your space is unorganized, your head is going to be unorganized.
If you're in a toxic environment, you're going to feel more toxic.
And of course, I always say this as well.
Sometimes we can't change those things.
Sometimes we can't change how people act towards us at work or we can't change.
change certain environments, but change the ones you can control. If your room is messy, try
cleaning it up, making a space for yourself that you really enjoy because doing that is something
you can control and will affect how you feel. Your friend group, if you hang around people who are
super negative, stop hanging around them. They're not the right people for you and it's going to
bring you down. If you hang around five negative people, you'll be the six. The spaces you're in
will influence your mood and mindset. And let me be real with you, the people around you can
literally raise or lower your standards in life. If you're hanging around a group of people who know
their worth and they are motivated, I guarantee you you're going to feel like you know your worth and
feel more motivated. Now number eight, I love this one and I feel like this one I'm trying to
embrace more, but protecting your peace is sometimes more important than proving a point.
I have a hard time with this because sometimes I'm just like, I have the urge to prove my point or just
explain what I'm meaning and sometimes I'm like, no, this person has to understand what's going on
in my head and I keep trying to re-explain. And this I'm trying to work on and trying to be more
aware and intentional about doing this because sometimes not every point needs to be proven.
They don't. And it's going to just cause you to feel more agitated and more frustrated.
And let's be honest, not every argument or situation deserves the energy.
choosing calm over comfort can protect your mental health and let's be real not even just your mental health but your physical health sometimes if i am just getting into it and i'm like oh my gosh i need this person to understand when i'm thinking i will literally start feeling my heart race and my legs will get like internal tremors i get that with my dysanonanoma with my nervous system and i'm like oh my gosh if i'm literally feeling physical emotions in my body and i need to calm down and not think okay you know this person they don't need
to understand what I'm thinking. Let it go, move on. And that's where you kind of have to have that
self-reflection thing. Is this worth it? Is this conversation worth my time? And also in the
grand scheme of things, is it really worth proving a point? Like, it's not that big of a deal.
I bet whatever thing you're going or talking to someone about. It's truly probably not that big
of a deal. So let it go. It's not worth it. Even, okay, I am best friends with my mom.
And my mom and I literally hang out 24-7. We are best.
and sometimes we will try to prove a point to each other and she will do this or I will do this.
And I'm like, mom, no, you have to understand what I'm saying.
You have to get what I'm saying and we'll go over and over.
And I'm like, how are you not thinking the way I'm thinking?
And sometimes I'm like, you know what?
My mom is worth my time.
I love her.
It's not someone where I'm like, okay, I don't care about this person.
I'm going to let the conversation go.
But I'm going to let it go because I don't care to have an argument right now.
like I it's not worth in the grand scheme of things like this is a useless topic that we're probably
arguing over and I love my mom and I just want to move on and like we can just be happy so sometimes
I'm like this argument or this thought that I'm trying to prove I'm like you know let's just drop
this and like I don't need to prove it like it's whatever we're both thinking two different
things and we'll laugh about it and move on like some things aren't worth it sometimes you have
to care about the other person and think you know what they don't deserve to have this
going on. They don't deserve to need to understand how I'm thinking right now. And then you move on,
it's really not a big deal. So that's something I've been really trying to work on lately as well.
Okay, number nine, this one is important. So get seated or standing up. But if you keep ignoring
what you want, eventually you will stop believing you deserve it. Let me tell you why this matters.
Many times we have something that we want, whether it's a future, a goal, a career, whatever it is.
a hobby, it doesn't matter what it is.
We have a vision in our head and we want it and we think about it.
And then there comes a point where it may just feel unrealistic or that we don't have time
in our life for it.
But let me remind you that if you suppress it, you will believe that you don't deserve it
anymore.
And then where is that going to leave you?
Never having it.
Never ignore it.
Even if you can't, let's say, entertain that thought or that goal right now, make it be still
in your life, in your mindset, and your goals.
in your mood board, your vision board, because that will keep that alive and you can begin
working on it one day soon maybe. You can start putting a little effort into it. But remember,
don't shut it out. Don't let it go because if you do, then it's a for sure 100% guarantee.
It will never be in your life. But at least think about it, nurture it, daydream about it,
and keep that thought alive so it can stay in your life for the possibility that that will happen.
If you have been around for a while, you know the story with my podcast,

Number 10, you can restart your day at any moment. This is something that really changed my life.
This has to be one of my top favorite ones because a bad morning doesn't ruin the whole day.
I remember last year I was having quite a bit of bad mornings and bad starts to my day.
And I would think, okay, my day is going bad in the morning or I had a bad breakfast or I had a bad news come in the morning, a bad, I don't know.
It could be anything that ruined my day in the morning.
Then the rest of the day was done.
I was giving up for the rest of the day.
And I was like, you know what?
That's it.
I've had a bad morning or I had bad whatever.
and I'm like the rest of the day is bad.
And you're the only one deciding that.
It doesn't matter what happens in the start of your day
or how bad your day has begun
or even if your whole day was bad.
There can be even at the last hour of your day,
you can change your day around.
There is no chance that you're going to let a full day go to waste.
You are so lucky to be alive.
Why would you just think one bad thing happens
or a ton of bad things happen and think,
you know what, the rest of the day is horrible,
we'll start again tomorrow. Start again right now. Change the mindset, change how you're thinking,
and find something positive to go forward from. Changing the trajectory of your day can literally just
make you go from having the worst day ever to even having the best day ever. You never know what the
rest of the day has in store for you, so keep your mind open, stay positive, and allow those good
things to come into your life. Number 11. Comparison is one of the fastest ways to ruin your happiness.
This is so true. Social media and everybody, everyone does this in life, influencers, friends, family, everybody, social media shows a curated highlight of people's lives.
They're not showing their bad days. They're not showing when they get fired from their job. They're not showing the behind the scenes of what happens that bring them down because why would you want to post that?
Majority of people don't want to feel vulnerable and do that, which is very understandable. But that's why you can't compare yourself.
I have known many people who are on the best vacations I've ever seen, but then I'll talk to them and it'll be the most unhappiest they've ever been.
Stop comparing your life and someone else's success to your own because we're all on different journeys and you truly never know what someone's going through.
Your life is on a different timeline than everyone else is.
Number 12, the more you trust yourself, the less you need validation from other people.
This is such a true one when it comes to being social and just how.
how you view relationships with yourself and people, but self-trust makes decisions so much easier.
Confidence grows within yourself when you listen to your own instincts.
Number 13. People you surround yourself with influence your mindset more than you think.
We kind of talked about one similar to this, but their energy and attitudes are contagious.
Being around motivated or kind people are going to change how you think.
So set yourself up, be kind to yourself, and set yourself with the people.
that you want to be around for your own good.
Even if you think, oh, I want to hurt this person's feelings and stop hanging out with them,
but they bring me down every time we hang out or they drain me, that's not your person.
They will find someone else they can do that too, but it's not for you.
Stop being a punching bag to yourself and put yourself in the position of people that you truly
want to surround yourself by.
Number 14, most problems become smaller when you take action instead of overthinking.
This is another big one that I really try to.
try to practice because it really leads into procrastination. Sometimes we have something that we are just
procrastinating that feels so big right now or such a big dread, but it literally just feels like a dread
because we keep holding onto it. And I promise you it becomes smaller when you take action.
Thinking about a problem all day rarely solves it. Even small actions taking towards it create momentum.
So start doing that rather than thinking about it and procrastinating it where it feels so big and such a dread in
your mind. Number 15, rest is productive when it helps you show up better later. I love this one and
live by it. You have to have your rest days in order to be successful. It is so true, or you're going to
burn out. Rest is not laziness, it's recovery. Balance helps prevent burnout and prevents you from
feeling stuck and not being able to think properly or feeling sad and just tired and hating your
job, your work, everything. You have to have rest days in order to refuel.
It's kind of like what I was saying when I went on a little staycation.
We had a one-night stay and that was all I needed in order to reset my mind.
And now I feel motivated and excited to get back to work.
Number 16, this has to be like a top favorite one so far.
You don't have to turn every hobby into something productive.
This is so true.
I always feel like I had to turn any little thing I did into something productive.
But it doesn't.
Some things can be exists purely out of joy.
That's why I remember.
I would never want to do stretching or yoga because I felt like if I'm going to take time out of my day to do something for movement, it's not going to be something that doesn't work towards actually working out.
And that was such a stupid thing because guess what?
I found actual enjoyment by doing stretching and yoga.
You don't have to find a hobby that's always benefiting you.
Creativity and play are important part of life.
Number 17, sometimes all you need is a breath.
What I mean by that is sometimes we don't need a vacation or we don't need a huge new shopping spree or a nice dinner to make us feel better.
Sometimes literally all we need to do is take a few seconds of a breath in between our work, in between things that are hard for us.
Don't underestimate how much a breath and just a second to look up at the sky, look outside can really just save you from how you're feeling.
It's truly just the perfect little reset.
Number 18, the way you start your morning often shapes your entire day.
This also kind of ties back to what I was saying about don't let your morning ruin your day.
But of course, prevention before the problem set ourselves up for success for what we can control.
Your first habits set the tone for your mindset.
So having small morning routines can make you just feel more intentional and more organized and aligned for the day.
Number 19, life is not school and work.
Majority of our lives are taken up by school and work.
Trust me, I am someone who lets work eat me alive too.
But again, we have to remember that's not why we're here.
That's not the reason why we are here.
We have a purpose.
And yes, it's hard to navigate life without having a job.
We all have to have a job.
But don't let it be your identity.
When people ask, what do you love?
Don't name all your work things unless you really do.
love it, but also know what you love outside of your job. Because you are a person outside of school,
outside of work, you were your own person. So who, as your soul, who inside, what do you love?
Who is that person? Because let me remind you, you were not your job and you are not work.
Number 20, doing things alone can build more confidence than you expect. Being comfortable with yourself
is so powerful. And you guys know I talk all about solo dates and solo hobbies. I actually just had an
episode on how to become your own best friend. But it is truly so important to know how to spend time
with yourself, how to be alone, how to have those solo hobbies, because having that trust
with yourself and that confidence with yourself is something that is so priceless that no one can
take away from you. Solo experiences teach independence. Number 21, growth feels uncomfortable
while it's happening. That is something that you need to remember because, again, we feel like,
oh gosh, we have to go out of our comfort zone in order to grow.
But growth is going to feel uncomfortable.
There may be a time where you're feeling uncertain or feeling challenged or feeling like you
are in a bump in the road in anything in life.
So you have to remember that discomfort often means that you're expanding.
Number 22, gratitude can change how you experience even an ordinary day.
I absolutely love this one.
And I just think it's so important to remember because focusing on what is going well and
the positive will shift your perspective.
Even appreciation and just the small little moments in life can make things feel so much more meaningful.
Stop trying to wait for the perfect day to feel good.
Start finding the little things that go good in your day as a positive,
and that's going to start bringing you fulfillment and joy.
Sometimes the best luckiest things that you have in life are right in front of you and you just didn't even realize it.
And the last one, number 23, the version of you that you want to become is created by what you choose to do today.
this has to be my all-time favorite one because your future self is shaped by your present choices.
I love to think of every day as a step.
It's like your foot is going in one step.
And I like to think of the future as a path.
So every day is like every step we take closer to the path of our future.
So remember, every day is an opportunity to move closer to the version of yourself that you aspire to be.
I hope you enjoyed this episode as much as I did at record.
writing this. I just love these. They mean so much to me. And if you think some are repetitive,
re-listen to them and break it down because each one of these are different in their own ways
and target all different areas of our life. And they truly can just apply to us right now in the
present moment or a different step in our journey in life. So let me know in the Spotify comments
