Hello, my love. Welcome back to the Busy Yet Pretty Podcast. I'm your host, Jaden Haley.
If you're new here, welcome. I talk all about how to become the best version of you, romanticize
just your regular routine, your days, your work, your school, and honestly, just become a
happier, healthier version of you. I genuinely feel like we were just talking about summer a few
episodes ago because we were, but it unfortunately goes by so much faster than we expect.
and now we're going back to school or going back to work or just our daily routine that we have been just in summer mode from.
So today's episode is going to be on the perfect back to school guide to get that back to school glow up
by romanticizing your routine and getting organized and just feeling less nervous because I know a lot of us get nervous when going back to school or back to work.
And maybe you don't go to school this year or you're not going back to school,
but maybe you're someone who just is going back to work or just want to get back onto routine.
this episode is still the perfect episode for you.
Honestly, I've been a little off routine,
so I'm excited to just be back on routine with you.
But before we get into today's episode,
let's go through our weekly review.
As I said, this week, I have been a little off routine
since I have been so busy.
But honestly, I feel like it's so nice to have a really busy week,
and then sometimes you get thrown off routine.
But then when you get back onto routine,
it's even better than you left it.
Another thing this week is I was invited to the French dinner,
and if you don't know, that's Ashley Tisdale.
brand so we had dinner with her and she is just such the sweetest ever and lastly this week is i ordered a huge
100% cotton haul i can't lie i'm really trying to just weed out the polyester right now that's in my closet
and just trying to bring in more quality 100% cotton pieces so i can hopefully build that dream capsule wardrobe
now on to the current obsessions of the week my current obsession right now is veggie hashes i just love
cutting up zucchini carrots, burnette squash, edamame, and just cooking it with like some turkey.
It just is so fulfilling, so good.
And one of my favorite hyperfixation meals right now.
Another current obsession of mine is pink and green.
I love the color combo pink and green so much.
I think it literally reminds me of like those watermelon candies.
And I just think it's the cutest color duo.
And my last obsession of the week is 10 pound weights for my arms.
I just love when I'm like bored doing nothing.
I'll just grab my 10 pound weights, lift it a few times.
And I'm telling you, it just makes you feel so strong and also really just tones your arms.
And honestly, I'm just in my strong girl era.
I love feeling strong.
We are not falling into thin is chic because being thin and doing things unhealthily to be thin is not chic.
So we're just leaning on to our strong girl era, feeling strong, feeling toned and feeling good.
about ourselves now into the goal of the week my goal of the week right now is to get fully back
into my routine it's nice to kind of almost just have a full getting off routine and then just
getting back onto it just feels like the perfect fresh start and another thing this week is i'm trying
to prioritize more guilt-free rest a lot of times we're resting out of maybe we're so burnt out that
we don't feel good or we just are resting but we have guilt when resting we need to get at the point
we're not fully burnt out and we're not resting because we can no longer do anything because
our body is sore from working all week. We need to schedule out time to rest without guilt because
if you try to rest and you feel guilty for it, you're most likely just going to doomscroll and try
to be like, oh, I'm not resting. I'm going to be quick. I'm going to get up in a second.
But doing that is not allowing you to fully rest and immerse yourself in that time to refuel.
So trying to just refuel and be intentional about that is something that I want to lock into this week.
And in my last goal of the week is to swap any scrolling for Pinterest.
Whenever I find myself scrolling, I just hop onto the Pinterest app and it makes it so much easier to just have inspo without the noise of seeing constant social media.
I know it is a form of social media, but to me it's more info rather than just seeing constant new things of other people.
It's more kind of an info directly targeted towards what you're looking for.
Forgive me for woman explaining what Pinterest is.
I very much know that you know what Pinterest is, but just my perspective on how I view Pinterest.
Now on to the affirmation of the week.
I am entering the most motivated version of me yet.
I love that affirmation so much and I really recommend affirming that to yourself.
Now on to yourself of question of the week.
How can I better balance work in school with my personal life?
I love that question so much and I really recommend asking yourself and journaling it.
Now on to the podcast review.
If you won't be featured on next week's episode, make sure.
to leave a podcast review over Apple Podcasts and leave a rating over Spotify.
This review is from Ellie and Ellie said,
This is genuinely the perfect podcast to listen to when you're getting ready for the new school
year and also for work.
You're not just an online big sister.
You're basically the one therapist that's always wiser and balanced.
Thank you so much, Jaden, and happy Monday.
Ellie, that review was so sweet and I cannot tell you how grateful I am for all your support.
I love that you think it's the perfect thing to listen to before the new school year and for work.
I love that I can bring that motivation for you.
And I truly am honored to be not just an online big sister, but your therapist.
I will happily play the role of your therapist.
With all that to say, it is time to get into today's episode.
Today's episode, as I said, we are talking about the perfect back-to-school guide
to have that back-to-school glow up, romanticizing your routine, getting organized,
and just feeling less nervous.
It can feel nerve-wracking to go back to school.
Trust me, I understand.
So this is just to help make the transition.
feel exciting to go back to school instead of stressful from creating little rituals that you can look
forward to and just treating the new season like a fresh chapter. One of the most important things I want
to start off as with this episode is resetting your routine because your summer routine is going
to look a lot different than your school routine or your back to work routine or just
having a fresh start routine. But that routine is going to be very much different than summer
because we're all relaxed during summer. We had other things that we were doing. We had more of a
lazy schedule most likely. So getting back onto routine is not supposed to be something that we're
dreading because obviously we need to be a little more disciplined with ourselves. But it's something
to look forward to and knowing, okay, I'm making the switch and that's giving me a fresh new start
to be productive and feel motivated. The best way to do this is to slowly shift your sleep schedule
before school starts. It takes a while for our body to adjust so starting even one to two weeks
prior can be so helpful in just getting back onto a normal sleep schedule. Because remember, if you're
feeling tired and just dragging during the morning at school, remember your morning routine begins
with your night routine. You can't expect yourself to be up and ready at school, feeling motivated
and getting things done, getting good grades. If you stay up every night watching TV and doom scrolling
till 1 a.m., having discipline for yourself is where your future self will thank you. Your morning
routine is beginning with your night routine. So setting your alarm the night before, getting eight
hours of sleep, having your overnight oats in the fridge is all setting your future self up for
success for you to have a productive, motivated, and easy time at school. School does not need to be hard,
but us fighting against setting ourselves up for success is what is making school hard. It is essential
you build a realistic morning and night routine. You're not going to get everything done,
but try to get as much as you can't done. So it's about.
setting three priorities instead of setting 10 being aware of how you're spending your time and being
intentional with your time so not doom scrolling not procrastinating and really trying to lock in on what
those three priorities are deciding which habits are non-negotiables are also one of the most
important ways to stay consistent with your routine knowing that okay i'm 100% going to read five pages
of my book before bed i'm going to turn my lights off by 9 p.m and i'm also not going to have my phone in my room
an hour before I go to bed. Having those like three non-negotiables that you routinely stick with
will make such a difference. Obviously when we wake up in the morning to go to work or school,
we're not jumping for joy. Majority of the time, we're probably dragging, we're bummed,
and we want to stay home. So it's all about romanticizing and creating a dream morning. So waking
up early enough to avoid rushing, that's going to help you not be as stressed and also help your
nervous system because when we're constantly rushing, our body and our mind is in the constant
state of fight or flight. That's also about making breakfast and a drink that feels like a ritual,
not a chore. So instead of just grabbing something to eat on the way out to school or to work,
actually sitting down with your food. So even if that is waking up 15 minutes earlier than you
usually do, but you have that 15 minutes then to eat and enjoy your matcha and your oatmeal bowl
instead of rushing, that will make such a difference on your mental health as well.
And give yourself something to look forward to each morning.
So like I said, that could be your matcha.
That could be adding cute little sprinkles to your own meal bowl.
That could be listening to a podcast while you're getting ready.
The secret to enjoying your routine is actually creating something in your routine to look forward to.
As I said, a million times, I will always say it.
Your morning routine begins through your night routine.
So when it comes to your night routine, pick your outfit out the night before.
So lay it out.
I always do this.
I will lay the top and the bottoms I'm wearing my shoes.
I will lay my entire outfit out on my dresser down to my underwear if needed.
So I just feel prepared the next day.
So I don't have to rush and figure out what am I wearing?
What am I choosing?
And I know exactly what I'm putting on.
And that's not even a worry when I wake up.
Another essential thing is pack your bag the night before and prep anything that you need.
So don't go running around in the morning trying to find your folders, trying to find your pencils, trying to find your pencils that you need to bring.
Have everything.
Have your computer.
Have your folders all in your backpack and in your bag.
so you can literally just walk out the door.
You have everything and you don't need to scramble
looking for your keys, looking for everything you need
when you're late already to school.
And of course, check your schedule.
So when you wake up, you feel prepared.
I do this and it's been a habit for my entire life
and I don't go to school, but I do this for work
and I will write down everything I need to do the next day.
So I know my entire schedule, what it's going to look like tomorrow.
So when I wake up, I'm not surprised and trying to figure out,
okay, what's happening today?
oh my gosh there was something due today no i know what is due and i know what i need to do tomorrow
because i set myself up for success the night before by looking at it start getting your life organized
clean out your room clean out your workspace because your environment is a reflection of your mind
or vice versa your mind is a reflection of your environment so start making your space clean and
organize so your head space deals clean and organized start organizing your calendar your deadlines and
commitment, make one priority master to do list before the semester starts. So you know every single
time a semester starts, you know what you need to get, you know what supplies you need, and you just
know how to prepare perfectly. Another thing, which I think is very important, especially if you're
in school, but organize your digital life. So clean up your camera roll, organize your notes app and your
files, delete apps, notifications, and things that you just don't know, just you don't need.
because those things, our distractions that are on your phone, are not benefiting you.
They're distracting you and they're pulling you further away from your goals.
And also, it's sucking up your time.
You want to just get things done, but you can't get things done if you're distracted.
So cut out those distractions and majority of time our distractions lies within our phone.
Start making your space inspiring.
So refresh your desk, refresh your study area, wherever you like to work.
Get a candle in there.
Get some new pens.
maybe get a new cup to fill for your glass of water every day.
Have something to look forward to at your desk and make that area refreshed and also add things that make you excited to work.
So maybe that's putting on a podcast while you're working or putting on some jazz music, maybe having, again, like a matcha or a coffee, something to have and to look forward to while you're doing your work.
So it feels cozy, comfortable and you can also feel productive.
There's so many apps and websites that you can like work.
work up, like work with me. I'm not sure what they're called, but you can like search up like
study motivation or study work with me things and they're little animated, cute little characters
that are like also working so they can work with you. And I think that's so cute and it's also so
motivating. Now when it comes to a back to school glow up, start refreshing your wardrobe with
pieces that you actually love. You know the things you no longer wear or the things that you just
don't need anymore in your wardrobe. Cycle those out. Get in some new things that you actually
look forward to wearing that make you feel confident. Same with your beauty routine. Find a simple
everyday beauty routine that you actually look forward to doing. It doesn't feel like a chore and it
also makes you feel confident when you do that. So whether it's your skincare, your makeup, whatever
you're putting on your face or on your body, your body care, do something that makes you feel good.
So when you leave the house, you know you feel confident and you feel good about yourself.
And it doesn't need to be a 20-step beauty routine. This can be as simple as washing your face,
putting on moisturizer and leaving out the door.
As long as it makes you feel good, do it.
Or even if it's a simple everyday makeup routine, do that.
You don't need to have a full beat, a full glam to school unless you want to.
But I'm just saying don't have that pressure of trying to make yourself look perfect.
Just do something for you.
What makes you feel good?
Even if that's putting on the slightest bit of makeup or just doing your skincare routine, do that.
When it comes to a back-to-school glow-up, focus on feeling confident rather than completely changing
yourself so much at the time we just want to be a new person or a new version of ourself
overnight but it's not going to happen overnight and you don't need to become a new version of
yourself this year at school all it is is making yourself have habits in a routine that makes you
feel good feel confident feel gorgeous and feel like the best version of you for yourself
not when anyone else thinks but just you i can't lie sometimes i am an impatient person but let's be
honest waiting on things are honestly the worst, which is why I want to tell you about

With the summertime, of course, we have our goals, but we also have real life hanging out with friends, work, or maybe even school.
And of course, that takes up a lot of time.
But one of your goals would be starting a business.
So you may be asking yourself, how can I have a business when I literally have a summer of plans to keep up with?
But let me introduce you to something that I love Shopify.
It makes starting a business easy and has all the tools you need to launch and maintain your business from day one.
And whenever I use Shopify websites, it is so easy to navigate.
What I love most about it is their design and launch feature,
with Shopify's templates and tools help your stunning site get up launched and running smoothly.
I also love their checkout, turning more browsers into buyers.
I also love their sidekick feature.
It's there to help you build, troubleshoot, and keep moving.
All you need is idea and Shopify handles the rest.

dot com slash busy at pretty that's shopify.com slash busy yet pretty. Okay, this is something that's really
important, especially if you have to study. But start romanticizing studying. So that's finding a cute
cafe or a cozy study spot. Maybe you like to meet your friends at a cafe and you guys get a drink
and you like to study or making your room your favorite study spot or the library. Make playlist
also for different types of studying. So maybe let's say you have a huge amount of things you have to do.
So maybe you're going to have a motivated playlist to study.
But let's say that you just have to study some note cards.
Maybe you just want to put on a little jazz music or something to just feel relaxed and actually learn what you're doing and just feel like you're at a non-rushed pace.
It's even as simple as using pretty stationary, pretty planners, and doing little rituals to make studying feel fun.
Fall is rolling around the corner.
So even if you want to put on like Gilmore Girls, Rory is super into.
obviously education and studying, and that can be motivation for you to study and feel like you're
tapping into like that cozy fall school study aesthetic.
When it comes to overwhelming yourself, get ahead, be productive without overwhelming yourself.
So look over assignments before they pile up, stay prepared, and also break big projects into
tiny steps.
I remember when I would have a big project, it would feel so overwhelming.
but if you break it down in tiny steps and plan it accordingly of when you're going to work on it,
it will be a lifesaver saving you time, stress, and just emotional wear and terror.
So it's even as simple to get things done as giving yourself realistic deadlines.
So instead of thinking, okay, this big project is due a month from now,
I'm just going to start working on it like a week before it's due.
No, you can literally start today, break it up into four quarters.
So you're going to work a quarter of it this week, a quarter of it now,
next week, a quarter of it the following week, and then you're just going to be constantly adding
a progress where it becomes easy and a smooth sailing process rather than piling it all up at once
and you're stressed and you just can't get it done in time. Something I love when I was in school
and just in general is creating weekly resets. So choose one day of the week that you just plan
all your task and to do and just the following week. I always plan my weeks on a Friday.
So after I'm done doing everything, I will just start looking into what's happening next week, what's my to-does, and start writing down my schedule.
So then when it's Monday, I'm not like, what am I doing?
Oh my gosh, I have so much to do.
Where do I even start?
Because nothing's written down.
No, I was prepared and everything is laid out perfectly for me.
So I know I'm doing Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and every day of the week.
Another thing for a weekly reset is look at school and work in social plans and personal time.
It's so easy to just be so into work or school.
and forget about our social life or our personal time.
And it's very important to schedule out those times as much as you prioritize school and work.
Of course, you do have to prioritize your priorities.
So that's going to be school and work.
But also make sure you do schedule out maybe on the weekends to see some friends or on the weekends to do some hobbies for yourself.
And with that, leave empty space instead of scheduling every single second.
As important as it is to time block your schedule and to be productive.
it's just as important as to leave some space because there's times that a random assignment
is going to pop up or sometimes that a random inconvenience will pop up.
And then we're going to think, oh my gosh, I have no time for this inconvenience because
I have a full book schedule already.
So make sure you have some extra time in case an inconvenience happens or in case an assignment
pops up last minute.
So you're not stressed and you actually do have that time to schedule it into your schedule.
When it comes to feeling less nervous, remember everyone else is a
adjusting to. It is not just you. We are all trying to get back onto routine, back into being social
again. So stop imagining every worst possible thing that could ever go wrong because it's not.
It's not going to happen that way. So start thinking of the positive and focus on getting through
the first day, not the first semester. Many times we go into school and thinking, oh my gosh,
how am I going to do this for a full year? How am I going to get back to school and have to socialize
and do all this work? And oh my gosh, how am I going to get through this semester?
thinking of it as a whole is just way too daunting.
You have to think just getting it through day by day,
and then you're slowly going to actually start to adjust.
And also when it comes to social anxiety, you don't need to impress everyone.
You literally do not need to impress everyone.
Not everyone needs to like you.
Not everyone is going to like you.
And you have to realize that it starts with one conversation at a time.
You will make friends when you find the right people for you.
It takes trial and error.
Listen, I used to eat lunch in the bathroom.
stalls in middle school. Okay. I do not have the easiest time in high school either. I was shoved into
lockers in middle school. Like I know what it feels like to feel alone at school. You are not alone.
Your story is not original. And that's not to diminish how you feel. That's to let you know that
someone else is going through the same thing. So don't feel isolated if you have no friends.
Don't feel isolated if you have someone who's being mean to you. I went through stuff.
probably someone you know was going through stuff.
So remember, just hold out and your future self will thank you.
Like, I promise you, do it for your future self.
And honestly, just remember, people are usually thinking about themselves, not you.
So, of course, when we go back to school, we're nervous, what are people going to think of me
or think of my hair, think of my acne on my face or my outfit?
No, they're literally probably just thinking about themselves, just like you are thinking
about yourself.
Stop putting pressure on yourself.
you don't have to have everything figured out.
And a bad day in your school life isn't meaning a bad semester.
Because again, it's a bad day, not a bad semester.
Give yourself permission to be a beginner.
You're not going to know everything and it's okay to not know everything.
I did not pass school with the best grades, okay?
Like I didn't get the best grades and I went to tutoring.
I was that girl who went to tutoring because I couldn't comprehend everything.
I was the one who raised my hand and asked questions to get reassurance.
Okay, is this how it works?
Is this how it works?
And there is nothing to be ashamed about if you are that person who doesn't understand all the education.
So it's okay to be a beginner and to learn.
And making friends and meeting new people can be hard.
I totally understand.
So just try saying yes, the small opportunities to connect.
Maybe you see a club that someone you know is into, like a little like sewing club or a craft club.
join the club like you can join any clubs ask simple questions to people around you and show genuine
interests and that's a great way to meet true genuine friends you don't need to force friendships
just let them develop naturally and remember if you don't ever end up getting friends which you will
but if you don't i'm your friend literally i am your friend even though i'm talking to you through a podcast
i am your friend because i know what it feels like to be alone at school and have no friends
And also, then it would be the perfect opportunity for you to become your own best friend.
Start avoiding the all-or-nothing mindset.
Missing one workout does not ruin your routine.
Or one late night doesn't destroy your sleep schedule or missing an assignment isn't going to destroy
all your grades.
Get back on track without waiting for Monday.
So if it is Wednesday and then you went to bed super late and you're off track, everything,
you don't have to think, okay, well, Monday I'll get back on track.
No, Thursday you can get back on track.
Literally, right now you can get back on track.
Don't throw everything away and all your progress away to wait until Monday or to wait until
next month or a new semester to start fresh.
You can start fresh right now.
Start protecting your energy.
You don't have to say yes to everything.
Of course it is important to say yes to small opportunities that could help maybe initiate
connections and friends and finding, you know, maybe some new friends that align with you.
But you don't have to say yes to every.
If someone says, do you want to go to this party tomorrow and you're not someone who goes to parties and it's not your thing, you don't have to say yes. You can say no. If there's an extra credit assignment, everyone is doing it, but you just don't have the bandwidth for it. You do not have to say yes. It's all about protecting your peace and balancing productivity with actual rest. And also learn when you need to have a quiet night. You don't constantly need to have productive working ahead nights on school and working on your homework for next week.
at the evening. Like, no, have some time for your personal self because that time is time you're
going to refuel to be better and a best version of you the next day. Some little things that just
make school better that you can do in your daily routine is just having your favorite breakfast
before class or getting your favorite drink at a cafe on your way to school. If you've been
following me for a while and listening to the show, you know I'm trying to get rid of more polyester
clothing and trying to prioritize having a full cotton, linen and just high quality clothing
and home decor. And I have deep dived and found only very minimal brands who carry exactly what I'm
looking for. And one of the brands I always wear in love is quince. They carry organic cotton,
Mongolian cashmere, and high quality materials that feel so luxurious and chic. But at the same
time has great affordable options. They're literally priced 50 to 80% less than similar brands. They
carry apparel, bedding and bath, kitchen staples, and just so many essentials. So upgrade your

slash busy. I seriously am obsessed with one of their dresses right now. I promise you you are
going to love all their pieces. I want to introduce you to one of today's sponsors, Hinge, which is perfect
since I know I've had so many questions as of recently on relationships and where to find someone
with the same interest as you. Hinge is a dating app designed to be deleted. It's for people
dating with intention, so going on dates, putting themselves out there. Hinge is designed for finding
connections. So many of my friends actually met the loves of their life through Hinge. And what I love
about it, it's all about intention for people who are actually trying to find connection in relationships
to truly just find your person. I personally am very selective.
when it comes to a partner in relationships, as you know, I would not settle for any less.
So I love how with Hinge, it's designed to connect you to people who align to you and your lifestyle,
which is so important when it comes to finding the right person for you.
So if you're hearing this, this is your sign to download or re-download Hinge.
If you're picky when it comes to the dating, I'd honestly just give it a look because I've heard great things.
And who knows, you may find the person you have been looking for.
Keep an emergency back with your essentials.
I made a like PMS period school bag video a few weeks ago and you guys loved it.
But like remember, if you're on your period at school, pack a little fun PMS bag so it makes it easier.
Have some chocolate in there.
Have your pads, your tampons, whatever you need, a heat pack for you to get it through the day.
And plan little treats throughout the week for yourself.
If you know, okay, I have this test on Wednesday, plan a little ice cream night that you're going to have on Wednesday night.
Again, something look forward to.
process and just your daily life so much better. When it comes to talking up on back to school
essentials, get a planner and a calendar system that you actually like. If you're a physical planner
person, get yourself a cute aesthetic planner and some cute little markers and highlighters to use
and some stickers and some sticky notes. And if you're someone who uses Google calendar like myself,
customize it. Make it cute pink, green, blue, a cute photo in your Google calendar. You really can do
so much with it and customize it on your computer. But that, again, makes it exciting to plan for the
week. Also, a bag stocked with your daily everyday essentials. So stock your backpack and your bag with
snacks or maybe like some little beauty products or things that you need at school, some gum,
things that are going to make you feel good and that you can rely on. And of course,
this is not a physical back to school essential, but a back to school essential in your routine,
but have a realistic routine that you can actually maintain.
Again, it does not need to be a 10-step beauty routine or a 10-step night routine.
It can be as simple as washing your face, gwashing your face, watching a little movie before bed,
and then reading your book, then going to bed.
Just having a realistic routine that you can actually maintain will do wonders
because it's all about consistency over perfection.
When it comes to your first week going to school, remember you're going to be okay.
your first week mindset you just don't expect everything to feel natural immediately it's going to
feel unnatural because you've been on summer mode so when you go back to school it's going to feel daunting
it's not going to feel fun but i promise you you're going to adjust so give yourself time to adjust
and just focus on showing up rather than being perfect you are going to make this semester the best semester
yet so pick a few priorities instead of trying to do everything and doing that it can be like
creating a system that makes your life easier with your daily routines and habits, and also just
decide on what would make yourself genuinely proud by the end of the semester. So I want to leave you
with this for this back-to-school mindset. I want you to do one thing tonight to make tomorrow easier.
Choose one routine that you want to commit to. And lastly, plan one thing that you're genuinely
excited about. I'm telling you, having these in your mindset and having this perspective is going
to make a world of difference on how you view school and just your mood, your mindset, and your
mentality and going into this new semester. Remember, you're going to have the best year yet.
You're going to dial in. You're going to feel productive. You're going to feel motivated.
And most of all, you're going to have good mental health. Affirm this to yourself, believe it,
and take action on creating these healthy habits and steps for yourself to have this mindset.
