Hello, my love. Welcome back to the Busy Yet Pretty Podcast. I'm your host, Jaden Haley.
Excited is an understatement for this episode because I feel like we all just need some motivation to go back to school.
If you were someone who's going back to school or back to work or even just back on routine, then this episode is for you.
Of course, it's undeniable that we all just want to lay by the pool all day and enjoy our summer.
But sadly, summer is coming to a close. But guess what? Our motivation is just,
just beginning because we are going to have the best school year, work year yet. So I'm really
excited and without further ado, let's get into today's weekly review. This week I have been
reorganizing and redecorating my place. Let me just say my apartment's feeling so much more put together
and I feel so much more a weight lifted off me. So this is your sign to get your messy place
in order because it's going to feel like such a weight lifted off your chest. Another thing this
week is I have been planning for fall. This fall, I really just want to embrace the fall weather,
and I also want to plan a trip to Vermont or somewhere where it actually gets some fall weather,
but I am just so excited, and there's going to be much fall inspo and episodes to come.
And lastly, this week is I began fostering a senior cat. Since Kitty has passed away,
all I've wanted to do is help older cats, because I feel like senior cats are just so look past,
Especially when trying to be adopted, most people just go for kittens, which is so understandable.
But personally, I just want to give senior cats and older cats a good happily ever after.
So I'm so excited to begin doing this.
So I will be, it's a long-term phospis because most likely it will not be adopted.
But I'm really happy to give him a great rest of his life.
He had lived on the street for over 10 years in around East Hollywood, and he was slowly dying
from being so bitten up by fleas and he's all cleaned up and good now and i'm so excited for this
journey ahead with him now to the current obsessions my current obsession at the moment is thrifting
a new wardrobe for fall i love nothing more than fall style i just saw a tic-tok that was so
relatable and i feel like many style girls understand this but summer is of course amazing and
stuff but style really comes out in the fall and winter
in the colder months because I cannot wear a scarf or I cannot wear a trench coat in the summer,
but I can sometimes with the California weather.
I sometimes can wear it in the fall and winter.
So all the fashion girlies know fall in winter is the time to shine.
So I'm really excited that I've been getting more pieces for this fall.
Another cramp session at the moment is whole milk.
I am always a non-dairy milk girl just because my stomach is very sensitive to dairy.
but I've slowly worked up the tolerance and am feeling so great having whole milk.
I never thought I'd be saying I'm drinking whole milk as my option of milk lately,
but let me just tell you, it has been so great.
I love it, and I just feel much better, honestly, drinking that over non-dairy milk.
My last current obsession right now is hydrangeas.
I truly believe hydrangeas are one of the most beautiful flowers,
especially the ones that are slightly tinted with a two-toned color.
right now I have some blue and green ones and they just look so beautiful they're giving summerhouse
in nantucket just perfection they really remind me of susanna fisher from the summer i turned pretty
just that entire beach house feel now moving on to the goal of the week my goal of the week right now is
to rewrite and revisit all my goals that i started and wrote down in the beginning of the year
i feel like we kind of get lost and forget about our goals and i really want to just revise them
see what's going to work for me and really just set those goals for the end of the year.
Basically kind of just have a mid-year reset.
Another goal of the week right now is to organize my closet.
As I said, I got a new little closet cabinet.
I've gotten quite a bit of questions on it, so I linked it over my LTK.
But I really want to reorganize it and get really cute fall wardrobe in that closet.
My last goal of the week right now is to finalize the busy yet pretty meetup.
I think the time this comes out, the meetup will already have been done.
But I'm really excited to have it.
This has been in the works for a while now.
And finally, I am COVID-free, feeling great, and back to planning.
So I'm really excited to meet you guys and have this little meetup.
Now on to your self-love question.
How are you going to invest in yourself this fall?
I love this question so much.
And I really recommend journaling this.
Now on to your affirmation.
I am okay.
I'm safe.
I'm healthy and everything is working out in my favor.
I love that affirmation so much because sometimes we just need to affirm the basics to really
just calm our mind and our nervous system.
So I really love that.
Now on to your challenge of the week.
Have yourself a day at home to give yourself the perfect spa day.
I love this so much because you don't have to go spend hundreds of dollars to have a spa day
out when you can just do it at home.
It's not always about using the top quality product.
or eye mask, sometimes just throw on a cucumber and Greek yogurt on your face and that can be
the perfect self-care day.
Now on to the podcast review, which you can always leave a podcast review over Apple Podcasts
and rate over Spotify to be featured on next week's episode.
This episode is from You're Ready.
I think that's how you say your name.
Hopefully I'm not printouthing this wrong, but she said, I came across your podcast not
too long ago and I instantly fell in love.
your advice sounds so genuine and inspiring.
I listen to your episodes daily on my commute to work and feel inspired to be productive.
I always replay my favorites and pick up something new each time, XOXO.
I absolutely love this review and I love how you said you listened to it on your commute to work.
This makes me just feel so happy and thank you so much for your kind review.
Now without further ado, let's get into today's episode, which we're talking about,
that is time to go back to school and this is just going to be your perfect.
back-to-school guide for confidence, organization, and honestly just every necessity you need to
romanticize and make your school year the best, whether you're going to college, high school,
middle school, or maybe you've already gone through school and you're just going back to work
or just wanting a better routine, this episode is for you. Because this is going to be the
perfect guide to just start fresh for success. When going back to school, it is important to have
the rule of them that it is so important.
to actually dedicate time to your task by actually taking action and completing them.
The reason I'm saying this is it's so easy for us to over plan and just write things down
but actually not take action on those things.
Sometimes we just have enjoyment in planning and writing things down.
I am someone that I am very guilty of doing this because I enjoy writing all my to-does down.
But sometimes we forget to actually take action on those things and not just write them down for fun,
but seriously do that task.
So it's really important to make sure that you take action in those things, but not only that, but when starting this new routine for you going back to school, it's important for you to schedule out both time for your work and to get your homework done and to have personal time.
And in order to gain and earn that personal time, you do need to take time into your homework and the task that you need to get done.
So get those things done and don't procrastinate it so you actually have time for your personal life.
Like I said, it's very easy to schedule out things and procrastinate it, but setting this goal for yourself to truly just put time into your work and on your task will help you earn your time to relax and just have your self-care time in the evenings and in the mornings before school or work.
If you're someone who's going back to school in a new school, which is a new environment, or going to school with no friends, or going to a new school, a new campus, it can feel so unbelievably isolating and just feel so.
lonely, so you need to realize that you're not the only one feeling this way because every single
person feels this way. Even if it doesn't look like someone is feeling this way, I promise you,
everyone feels nervous and a little scared going back to school. Don't be afraid to be 100% your true
self because not everyone is going to like you. And that is the beauty of people because you're
going to find who actually truly likes you for you when you're your true self. Don't try to be someone
else to impress somebody else or to fit in because you don't want to always keep that up at the end of the day.
Okay, you want to feel comfortable, you want to feel happy, you want to feel like you're being your true
self. So by being that, you're going to attract the right people to you. When it comes to going
back to school, we want to feel our best and most confident going back. So it is essential that you
use this time right now to invest in yourself. If you have any time of summer left, use this time
wisely and even maybe if you're listening this and have already gone back to school it is okay and you can do
this on your time where on the weekends or the time you're off from school but this is the time to splurge
guilt-free on yourself get yourself some new clothes that you feel confident in get yourself some new
makeup that suits you or even if you don't have a lot of money to purchase new makeup try out a different
makeup routine and try doing it differently and of course it is essential that you get yourself some
new supplies and not only some new basic supplies get yourself some ones that you feel excited to
use at school i personally always like to pick an aesthetic going back to school of how i wanted my
binders and everything to look i remember one year i did lisa frank i had the cute two thousand's
unicorn and dog and cat prints another year i did pink one year i did beige and again this you do not
need a lot of money for it this can be on a budget wal-mart
has great options to get cute supplies at so this is your reminder that you don't have to have a lot of money to get these cute things
if you have a hard time knowing what style that you want to go for when it comes to supplies or even your clothes
take a second to scroll on pincers and pin some things that align most to you or a style that you like
because i promise you doing that can give you so much info and can help you pick an aesthetic or style that you may be leaning towards when shopping for
binders, school supplies, or your clothes. Something that you will be absolutely thanking yourself for
in the future ahead is planning ahead. You have to plan ahead. Start using Google Calendar or motion
or you can even get a physical planner or notebook and again make it cute. You can get a pink
linen one or one that suits your style. But something that's going to allow you to write down
due dates and task for each day because by staying organized it will absolutely save your life.
and save you from having added stress by working ahead and being aware of those due dates
rather than procrastinating and doing it last minute.
Something you're going to do this year is make homework and studying fun.
Make it cute, make it pretty, make it fun.
Romanticize it, okay?
Put on your favorite music, film a time lapse of you studying.
If you need some study, inspo on, you know, something cute that you could do while studying,
put on a video of someone else studying.
There's videos on YouTube.
on YouTube, but literally people just doing their studying or their homework and it can make you
feel motivated like a friend. Or another thing you could do is set up a cafe date to do with your friend
and you guys can study and do your homework together there. It can be really motivating and helpful
to just zone in with your friends at a cafe, drinking your lattes, and working hard. You have to do
your homework and study. It needs to be done. It has to be done. So you might as well romanticize it and make it
fun. It's all in your hands to have a positive outlook on work and homework, or you could either
take the route of procrastinating it and hating it while you still have to do it. If you still have to do
it, you might as well just make it fun. You're not the only person that has to do this, okay? So dedicate time,
just get it done so you can enjoy your own free personal time after. Another thing is prioritize your
routines at home. Sleep is essential, especially in the school year because school, white,
it out of us, work wipes it out of us, so it's so important that you really have a good sleep
routine. I really recommend having your last bit of late nights this summer this week. Then a few
days before school starts, start going to bed earlier and waking up earlier. Because that will
allow you to help transition easier to your school schedule. Another thing is always have a
morning and night routine to cater to your personal needs. Of course, I have lots of episodes on
routines if you need some inspo, but some just just,
generic inspo is you could work out in the morning, eat a healthy breakfast, get dressed, do your
makeup, then go to school while listening to some nice music, have a snack once you get home from
school, start your homework, take a shower, watch TV, eat some dinner, and then spend time with
your family. Remember, work life balance, okay? You have to have balance in your life, but honestly,
look who's talking because I am someone who does not have the best work life balance, but
when I do master it, you know I'm going to be giving you all the tips. But what I can say is
the more you prioritize yourself, the more you're going to be able to get other things done and work,
it can't be 100% to work or 100% to school or 100% to your personal needs. It has to have that
healthy balance. Something that I really recommend for going back to school is have something to share
with others. It is a great way to make new friends and meet new people when you have something to share.
just a little tip I have on hand but have a candy in your backpack or stickers or cute cups or
cute little pens or pencils something you can gift to people or even like a cute little hair tie
or a hair clip or a headband some cute things that you buy a quantity of that you can just pass out to
other people it's such a great way to meet new people like I said make new friends and it also
resonates that little gift that you gave them so when they think of you they're
going to think, oh, that's the girl who gave me the cute pen or that cute clip. Another thing
when going back to school is stay hydrated. I know that is cliche, but staying hydrated is just
so important. So get yourself a hydroflask or a tumbler, whatever it is. Get yourself a nice
cup to be able to stay hydrated and you can decorate it with stickers or put a little bow on the straw.
Like I always say, make life pretty. Okay, when you have a busy life, you got to make it pretty. And
that's where we are busy yet pretty. If you are allowed to at school, try using a large tote bag
or a really large purse as a backpack. It is just so chic, so classy. Truly the definition of
an it girl at school. I think there's nothing cuter than having a purse as a bag. Chef's Kiss.
Okay, another thing is an iPad can also be really helpful. Again, if you have the money, if you don't,
then it's not a big deal. But if you do,
maybe you want to invest in an iPad, I have her that is so helpful when doing homework and using
it to help be organized. Don't be too hard on yourself and you have to enjoy the process. Like I say,
don't forget to stop and smell the roses because time is going to pass you by and there's going to be
good and bad times of your school year and of your work life and we just have to enjoy every single
moment of it because you have to have bad days to enjoy the good ones. Something that is really
important is stay organized at home to again prevent added stress especially make sure your desk
and your workspace is as clean and organized as possible that's going to allow you to be able to just
sit down and start your work without any hassle or a reason or excuse why you can't because it's
messy or it's not clean so just have your space organized when you sit down at your desk to do
your homework light a candle have a little fruit bowl next to you have your matcha
or your latte, play your relaxing, homework, jazz playlist.
And I promise you, this will take your study and working session to the next level.
The best part about being an adult is you can go according to your own schedule,
so if you want to eat ice cream for dinner, you can.
But sadly, adulting comes with many other unfun things, like taxes,
and something else that's not fun, is making your own doctor appointments.
But for that, thankfully, there's Zoc Doc, which is a healthcare app that makes adulting
much easier and quite literally stress-free. Sockdoc is a free app and website where you can search
and compare high-quality in-network doctors, choose the right one for your needs, and click to instantly
book an appointment. We're talking about in-network appointments with more than 100,000 healthcare
providers across every specialty, from mental health to dental health, eye care, to skin, and much more.
Plus, Zoc-Doc appointments happen fast, typically within just 24 to 70 hours of booking,
and you can even score same-day appointments. As you guys know, I've been,
been on my hormone health journey to heal my hormones and I feel like I've been on a journey to find
a doctor that really helps and will listen to my needs, which is why I love that I can review
doctors on Zoc-Doc to see what other people's experiences were, to see if that doctor would
align to me. I feel like I have a loss stress on my plate already, so when it comes to booking
doctors, I want to be stress-free, which is why I love Zoc-Doc, because it just is truly so helpful.
So stop putting off those doctor appointments and go to Zocdoc.com slash busy and download
the Zoc Doc app for free, then find and book a top rated doctor today. That's ZocD-O-C.com
slash busy. Zocdoc.com slash busy. And of course, when you're putting in this time for work,
you always have to reward yourself. You deserve to be proud of yourself. Don't make an excuse
why you didn't work hard enough or whatever it is. You are doing your best. So just do your best
and reward yourself for that. So take yourself to ice cream on Fridays or give yourself your
favorite sweet treat or allow yourself to go on Pinterest between breaks. You have to reward yourself
to keep going. It's like giving a car gas in order for a car to keep going and needs gas as fuel.
So just keep rewarding yourself in return. I want you to remember that school is temporary. You are
not going to have school your entire life. To give a little backstory on my experience with school,
so you don't feel like you're the only one if you're feeling very isolated or scared or if you don't
have many friends. I was bullied in sixth grade when I went to school verbally and physically bullied.
I would eat lunch in the bathroom stalls. I would be thrown into lockers. I had the whole
classic bullying experience that you like see in the movies. And it was so difficult for me.
I developed such social anxiety for the years after that. I was then homeschooled up until high school,
went to a private school with only 50 kids in the entire high school so there was not many friends to choose from
that was much better than sixth grade but still was not great i didn't have many friends i would eat
lunch inside the science class with the teacher because i didn't have any friends and overall i just had a
really tough time in school from me being the new kid to the private school and very easy to pick on
and I also developed, again, more social anxiety from that too.
Partway through high school, I was pulled out, and I just did the rest of school online.
And that is where my life really started to change, because something clicked in my head
after realizing I do not have to keep up this narrative I have of myself of being easy to be
walked on, shy and not outgoing.
And long story short, I changed my entire life round, and I now moved to Beverly Hills
This is my full-time job and I quite literally live a glorious life compared to what I felt I did in high school
I actually had started YouTube in high school and started posting on social media in high school with no followers at all
and let me just say the people, my classmates, they all saw the videos, they even played it in class, laughed about it.
But something I always stayed true to is myself and I continued posting regardless of what anyone was saying.
And those same people who were making fun of my content back in the days I had no followers in school
are the same people who follow me and ask for the links of things today.
So remember, stay true to yourself.
These people do not matter whatsoever.
But I don't want to get negative talking about school because it's going to be a positive start to school.
You don't have to worry about anyone.
This is going to be a great year for you.
So back to what I was saying, school is not your entire life.
Even if school gets hard and feels lonely and isolating,
you are still not alone because many people feel this way.
As I always say, I am preaching for you to have the best in life.
