Starting point is 00:00:10 Hello, my dolls. Welcome back to the Busy Yet Pretty Podcast. I'm your host, Jaden Haley. If you guys are new here, I am Jaden Haley and I'm here to help you guys achieve your dream life and ultimately become the best version of yourself. I know people can go through things and a lot of times things can weigh on us and obstacles. And I think the best thing to do is to get those hardships and to turn it into your own success story. So I hope you guys enjoy the show. And let's get into today's episode. So last week, I did not record an episode because I just really wanted to be present enjoying my birthday.
Starting point is 00:00:50 It was my birthday March 17th. So it was just such a nice time. All I wanted to do this year was to just have a nice relaxing time with my mom. I literally just love my mom. She's just a sweetheart. And I just wanted to have a nice time with her. I'm like very close with her. So all I want to do was to have a little girls day.
Starting point is 00:01:15 So we had a very fun time. And, you know, we'll get into that in the weekly review. But I'm so excited for all the upcoming episodes. And I already have a guest that are booked and scheduled. Very excited. You guys are going to love the guest. And if you guys have any other recommendations on topics, guests, or anyone you'd like to hear on the podcast, please do.
Starting point is 00:01:39 to DM me because I would love to hear. Okay, guys, let's get into today's weekly review. So last week, as you know, was my birthday. And I celebrated my birthday by going to a really cute cafe, which is called Cafe Gratitude. And I got breakfast there with my mom, and it's so cute. And every single menu item was named after an affirmation, which I thought was so cute. So it would have like, I am wholesome. I am loved.
Starting point is 00:02:09 as like the name of the meals. And I just thought that was so adorable. And after we went to a really pretty garden, all I really wanted to do was to go get some nature. I realized how much I miss nature and I just miss like the sounds of birds. Like I miss the sounds of birds so much. That definitely has to do with me living in high rise. But since living in the city, I'm just not around nature as much.
Starting point is 00:02:37 And I realize how much I miss it. So all I wanted to do was just to go walk around a garden. So we went to a really pretty garden in Beverly Hills. And it was a museum. And it was just so beautiful and peaceful. And then we got an assay bowl from Sun Life Organics, which is my absolute favorite. If you guys don't know what Sun Life Organics is, I absolutely love the founder's story. And he's so inspirational.
Starting point is 00:03:04 And they have the best smoothie bowls ever. So I really recommend you go try it if you're in the L.A. area. And lastly, for dinner, we went to Great White and had the best sourdough pizza. I love, love sourdough pizza. I can't have anything with gluten in it. And I know sourdough is gluten, but it's a lot easier to digest. So sourdough pizza is my favorite right now. And we got mushrooms on it.
Starting point is 00:03:33 It was so divine. Another thing this week is I went to an Airwan event, which was so lovely. You guys know that I've been wanting to work with Airwain for a long time now. I am someone who shops at Airwan multiple times a week. I just really admire the brand and the brand's message and just I really love all the products that they carry at the store. So it was really exciting getting to go to an Airwant event. And I also this week have been just trying new places and new cafes with my mom. She was in town and she finally has left.
Starting point is 00:04:07 So that was sad. But you know what? It's time to get back onto work. I have a bad tendency of not working when I had people come to town. So it's definitely time for me to get back into work. Moving on to my current obsession. My current obsession is avocados. I literally love avocados and always have.
Starting point is 00:04:27 But lately they have just been so amazing. Salt and pepper on it or just putting it in my salads. or honestly any meal. It's such a nice, healthy fat that I just love so much. And it's so good for your skin. So I just love avocados right now. Another current obsession is Paula's Choice BHA exfoliator. I literally was needing this really bad because I heard it was really good.
Starting point is 00:04:53 And I kind of was breaking out and having little bumps on my face the past few months. So my mom was so sweet and she ordered it for me. And I fell in love with it. It's definitely a part of my morning and night routine. It's almost like a toner, but it's like a leave-on exfoliant. So I just love it so much. Another crap obsession is Layla Bagels. I literally love Layla Bagels.
Starting point is 00:05:18 It's in Santa Monica. They have the best sourdough bagels ever. I just love how they're sourdough because they're easier to digest. And they are the best bagels ever. Like when I say they're the best, I get the one called the Laika and the pre-jam. and the Leica has like a locks bagel and it's literally uncomparable. It's so good. And then I get the pre-jum, which is honey, cream cheese, and seasonal fruit on it, which
Starting point is 00:05:46 sounds kind of gross, but I promise you once you try it, it's the best thing you will ever eat. Another current obsession right now is the sun, not just a window, but going outside. So I've been loving the sun and it just is making me get into the summer spirit. and actually the spring spirit, as I should say, since this episode is on spring. Lastly, my current obsession is natural nails. I've had acrylic nails for a few years now, and I wasn't able to get them filled a few months ago because I haven't found a new nail place in L.A.
Starting point is 00:06:19 And I left them natural, and I'm not going to lie, I let them grow out, and I love them so much natural because it feels just so much lighter. And I don't know, I just really love it natural right now. So who knows, I'll probably go back to getting acrylics or gelax very soon. But for now, I'm just living with my natural nails, which feels so nice. Okay, moving on to the goal of the week. I have a goal to wake up at 5 a.m. again. As I said, my mom was in town and my family was in town, so I was waking up later than usual.
Starting point is 00:06:52 But I definitely want to get back onto my normal waking schedule, as well as schedule better. I found myself to have a really hard time scheduling out things to do and I will schedule the night before and sometimes I just will not follow it. I definitely am trying to work on that this week because when I actually go according to schedule, it really helps me and I know it's so stupid because that is just common sense. It can be hard to stick to schedule so I really just want to start scheduling better this week. Lastly, my goal of the week is to get more guest scheduled on the podcast. I have a few already booked, like I said, and I just am trying to find as many people you guys want to hear booked for the show.
Starting point is 00:07:36 So I'm very excited and stay tuned for the guest. And it just is going to be so exciting. Next up is a self-love question to ask yourself. How do you feel about your choices at the end of each day? I love that question so much because it really allows you to reflect. And I just think it's so good because it really just keeps us in check of realizing an important. am I living my life out and doing my everyday things according to how I want to live my life? It will be able to allow you to reflect to see, are you doing this because you want to please other people or for you?
Starting point is 00:08:10 So I just love that question. Now an affirmation of the week. I am my own leader. Journal that affirmation and really affirm it. Next step is a challenge and this week I challenge you to remind yourself to take time off from your phone and off from scrolling. It can be so easy just to be tied down to our phone and I think the most beautiful thing is just being present in the moment because I guarantee you you will not be able to remember what you were scrolling and looking at last week, but you can remember things that you did
Starting point is 00:08:43 that were physical activities. So I really do recommend you just go do other things than scroll all day on your phone. Okay guys, it's time to get into today's episode which I am beyond excited for. Today's episode is on create a new you this spring. And when I say create a new you, I'm not meeting be a different person. I'm meaning create a new version of yourself that makes you the happiest. So I found myself craving a restart this spring. I'm just ready to transition out of those winter blues. I feel like I have just been really motivated and really going good.
Starting point is 00:09:21 And then all of a sudden, when you start working too hard, you get burnt out. and then you're like, wait, I don't want to do any work. So that's where I am right now. And I feel like I'm just really craving a reset and to realign with my goals that I made the beginning of the year. So that's what spring is about. And we need to just focus on self-care because when we do self-care, that's the most perfect time to recharge ourselves. Self-care is recharging. And even though you think taking time out for self-care is going to put me.
Starting point is 00:09:54 me back behind because I'm not working. No, you should be looking at it as an investment to recharge yourself because in the end, it will help you achieve more. That's kind of where less is more comes in. I started allowing myself to have a little 15 minute nap throughout the day when I get to just overwhelmed and burnt out from work. So once I have that little 15 minute nap, it totally resets my energy and just allows me to get going strong for the rest of the day on work. So instead of just dragging along, feeling tired, and just feeling burnt out. It allows me just to restart. So that's where less as more comes in. And I really think you guys should prioritize self-care this spring. I have just been feeling so gross. I feel like this winter. I am just craving a nice glow.
Starting point is 00:10:41 I'm ready to feel tan. I'm ready to have my skin glowing. I want to feel warm. And I wanted to feel chilly and cold throughout the winter and feel all like cozyed up from that. But I'm I realize I'm over it. L.A. has been too chilly lately and rainy still. And I love the rain, but not that much. So my loves, let's get into how we are going to feel the best version of ourself and just create a new you this spring. It's so important to embrace the now.
Starting point is 00:11:13 And I realize that because I would always be looking forward to what is coming next. And as I do, I always do. But I think it's really good to just focus on what you have. there and then because once that thing comes that you're looking forward to, it's just going to pass you by. You're not even going to realize that it passed you by because you're going to be already thinking about the next thing. So just really be present in the moment and think about what you have at that moment and how
Starting point is 00:11:39 you're grateful for it rather than always searching for what's the next thing you can do. I'm going to share with you guys some of the things that I'll be doing this spring to better my mindset, health, happiness, routine, and overall just self the spring. I feel like it's so necessary to really dive deep into self-care this spring. So I'm very excited to share with you guys what I'll be doing and what I have done that I've seen has impacted me. Starting off is spring cleaning. And no, I don't just mean your closet.
Starting point is 00:12:09 I don't mean just cleaning up around the house. I mean spring clean out the negative thoughts, out the people in your life were negative, out bad habits and everything that is negative. spring clean that out of your life of course i do encourage you to do a little spring clean around your house but really focus on spring cleaning your mindset and everything that's negative or people in your life are negative so it can allow you to have positive thoughts okay spring is just so positive i think out of all the seasons i just see spring as one of the most positive just happy little seasons align with that season and just push that extra positivity you need to start prioritizing
Starting point is 00:12:51 how you feel while and after you hang out with people. If you're coming home at the end of the day, feeling negative and just bothered and you just don't know why you feel bothered, it's because the person you hung out with is not the right person for you. Start hanging out with people and start surrounding yourself by people who are uplifting you and not dimming your light. Because I promise you, the minute you start hanging out with people who uplift you, you are going to feel so motivated and happy coming home after hanging out with them.
Starting point is 00:13:19 And if you have to think about someone and think, do they make me happy or do they not? The answer probably is, if you have to even think about it, that they're not making you that happy. So really just start to clean out your life and clean out the people who are not aligning with you. You shouldn't have to put any effort into trying to determine who's making you happy and who's not. When you were coming home, feeling uplifted and happy, that's the person you should be hanging out with. And same with me. I think of it to myself where I realize the people, who are serving me right. And I know the people who aren't. And the minute I start to feel that
Starting point is 00:13:54 someone isn't serving me, you don't have to be rude to them. I just will slowly start to back away from them and distance myself from them because they are not serving me. And you know what, I'm not the person that maybe works for them. So the minute they are leaving me with negative feelings, that is when I begin to distance myself. You are not obligated to keep any person item, habit, or experience in your life. Because you are, are the creator of your life. You do not have to hang on to anything. You don't have to keep anything. So I really encourage you thinking about that. And as for something that I really want to work on, which is scheduling time out wisely. I think it's so important to schedule your time out wisely
Starting point is 00:14:35 because I've done it with my own experiences and I really know how it affects me. But self-care and recharging is so important because it'll allow you to properly schedule time for work in school while leaving time every day for you to focus on your well-being. So I really do recommend you schedule out your time wisely and purchase a planner that works good for you. Sometimes I'll just forget to prioritize self-care and I'll just go balls to the walls with work and I will just be left feeling extremely burnt out
Starting point is 00:15:05 and it catches up to you. It always does so I have realized how much self-care and self-love and recharging just really resets you and allows you to get more energy to keep going. And when I say self-care, again, this doesn't mean it needs to be a sauna or facials. It can literally just be breathing exercises, skin care, a shower, affirmations. Those are simple, free-of-charge activities that I do myself that you're able to do as well. A form of self-care that I love is just sitting outside, soaking in the sun or sitting by the
Starting point is 00:15:40 window, just soaking in the sun that way. But anyway, just to get some sunlight in. So that's a form of self-care you can do as well. Again, scheduling out time for some bit of movement, I have such a hard time making excuses for myself to not do some movement. And I realize literally I am just making excuses when I don't want to do it. And I promise you, the minute you do some movement, you will not regret it. Have you ever regretted a time that you done a workout or done some movement? No, you've never regretted it. So I always make it a priority to get some bit of movement, whether that's a walk or a little ab workout, just some bit of movement just to allow your body to feel good and to do such a service to your body. Like I always say, do it because you love yourself.
Starting point is 00:16:27 It's not efficient to my schedule to get 10,000 steps in a day. But you know what does work to my schedule is if I do about 4,000 to 5,000 steps a day. So that works better to my schedule rather than compiling a ton of things that are not able to be accomplished. You'll start feeling bad about yourself because you can't accomplish it. But overall, the problem is because it doesn't align with your schedule. So do things that align with your own schedule. And always remember, something is better than nothing. Another thing that I love is just drinking matcha. My favorite brand right now is machafol, which is so exciting that I found a new brand that I am obsessed with. I have it linked over my Amazon storefront because I know you guys are asking me what type of matcha I drink and which
Starting point is 00:17:14 brand so I only drink ceremonial grade. It just gives me so much energy and just taste so, so good. Another form of self-care that I love is just giving myself a hug. And I know that sounds so cringy, but I will literally just go throughout my day and then just randomly give myself a hug because it can just be so comforting and just being gentle with yourself, which I've prioritized, just being calm with myself, not being so overly pumped up. It can really just raise my cortisol levels and I just really want to take this time and being calm and relaxed. I have just been loving, just giving myself a hug and being gentle with myself. Another thing I love is putting audio on of birds chirping.
Starting point is 00:17:57 I really recommend you do that and it's really crazy but there's scientific studies. If you hear birds chirping, it can literally increase your happiness. So I just really recommend putting on some birds chirping and it just is so nice and relaxing. I want to get into this in another episode that I will go much more deep into for spring style. But I am just in love with everything spring and colorful right now. I was really in a neutral phase, but I can see myself shifting out of it for spring. And I'm talking Love Shack Fancy. I'm talking bring back those colors.
Starting point is 00:18:31 So I'm just so excited. But I'll cover that in another episode for Spring Style soon. But I'm just so excited to get back on the colorful. and just really floral outfits. Something that I really encourage you doing is prioritize your sleep. I have just been really noticing how much sleep makes a difference in my life. I never used to prioritize my sleep. And I would sleep for about five hours and be completely okay.
Starting point is 00:18:56 But even if you're functioning completely okay doesn't mean it's good for you. So I started to sleep now eight to nine hours. And I just feel so much more awake and happier. So I really recommend focusing on your sleep schedule. and I have episodes about sleep and all of that for self-care, so I really recommend you tune into those. But sleep is just so important. Start viewing spring as the season of self-care.
Starting point is 00:19:23 And of course, every season should have self-care in it, but I mean extra self-care. So start taking the extra, just make yourself feel good. Summer's right around the corner, and most of you guys will have school off or have a lighter work schedule. So it's really good to just focus on self-care to prep for the exciting summer ahead and just to get back on track. Another thing that I really recommend you doing is stretching.
Starting point is 00:19:48 It's so good for your physical and mental health to take a little time to just stretch throughout the day and it can just help your muscles also not feel sore. I also think you should prioritize making your bed the minute you get up. I found such a difference when I do that. I've kind of trained myself to do this since I was younger, but I make my bed the minute I wake up and it just leaves your room, looking so much more put together. It allows you to also feel like you're more awake and start to get going and motivated. So I really recommend you make your bed the first 10 minutes of waking
Starting point is 00:20:21 up. As Miley says, I can buy myself flowers. So why are you guys not doing it? You literally have to buy yourself flowers. I'm not kidding. Stop waiting on a guy to do it. Stop waiting on your friend to do it. Buy yourself flowers. Okay. I had four bouquets of flowers surrounding. myself throughout my birthday and I'm not going to lie, it brought me so much joy just to see a little pretty nature around my place. So I promise you, you will find so much joy when you have pretty little flowers and pretty little plants in your room. So I really recommend you go right now and purchase some flowers for yourself or a plant, something just to give it some just lively bit of nature in your space. Another thing that I think you really should do
Starting point is 00:21:10 for the spring is schedule out brunches with your family and friends. It just is such a good way to connect. And I find it so beautiful how people can connect and just conversate rather than just be on their phones. I work on my phone all day long because of work or on my computer. And the minute I get a chance to actually just connect with someone away from my phone is so beautiful. You schedule time out to go, have a brunch with someone and don't think it's weird to reach out to people. I reach out to people all the time asking and a lot of the time people don't have confidence to go reach out to someone and that's maybe what you're feeling right now. Like you may go want to have brunch with your friend but you don't want to ask or you're scared to be rejected.
Starting point is 00:21:54 At the end of the day, it doesn't matter. If they cannot attend a brunch, then so be it. Then go have a self-date brunch with yourself. But there's no harm in asking if someone wants to have brunch because something so beautiful can come out of that. just asking if someone wants to meet up and just talk and I just think it's so nice. Another thing you need to be doing the spring is dry scrubbing. I have found such a difference in how smooth my skin has felt after dry scrubbing. I love it.
Starting point is 00:22:23 I do it before my shower and it just is so nice and it's very inexpensive little purchase. It's around $5 to $10 to get a dry scrub. I have one linked over my Amazon as well as a lymphatic drainage tool. which I have found to be so helpful and useful. It can really help you just get your skin feeling more tightened. And I don't know, I just love a lymphatic drainage tool because I can do it in my home and just feel like it really just scopes out my legs and my waist and my arms and everything.
Starting point is 00:22:55 I just love it. I dry scrub before my shower and then I use my lymphatic drainage tool after my shower with lotion. Oh, and then something that I like doing inside the shower is exfoliating. gloves. They are literally under $10 and there's these little gloves that you can put on and you can use it as like an exfoliator. It's almost like a dry scrub, but you'd be doing this in the shower. And I love it because it just gets off dry skin and just leaves your skin feeling so smooth. And something to really do for your mindset this spring is reflect and knowledge how far you've come. Just the other day, I was looking back at my birthday that I had last year and I'm just like, oh my
Starting point is 00:23:36 gosh, I remember just all I wanted to do for my 19th birthday was to celebrate in L.A. So with my parents and my boyfriend at the time, we went to L.A. And I celebrated my birthday, did my fun little things. In L.A., I just really enjoyed being in L.A. and that's where I want to be. And now, skip to a year later, I turned 20, living in L.A., living my dream life. And that's all because I stayed focused, manifesting, and stayed positive. So if I can do it, you can do it. So I, I just thought it was so beautiful that I was able to reflect to see how far I've come just from a year from now. So I really recommend you start reflecting and acknowledging your hard work that you've done this year. And lastly, something I really recommend you do this spring to create a new version of you is to be asking yourself and others.
Starting point is 00:24:27 What are you grateful for and what are you looking forward to? When my mom was in town for my birthday, I would ask her these questions and I found it to just be so, nice and just so beautiful and loving to talk about things you're grateful for and just to be so present. So it would ask your things like, what are you grateful for today? What are you looking forward to? What's your goal right now? How are you feeling at the moment? And just little questions like that.
Starting point is 00:24:52 And it can just allow you to connect with others so much better. And even if you're not hanging out with someone and you still want to do these questions, ask yourself it. It's a perfect way to connect with yourself and how you feel. and can also make you realize things that you're wanting and aren't wanting. So I just found that to be something that I love this spring. I hope you guys enjoyed this episode and I hope this inspired you guys to create a new version of yourself this spring to become a better you and a happier version of you.
Starting point is 00:25:22 So I love you guys so much. And I want to know who you guys want to see on the podcast coming up.
