Starting point is 00:00:10 Hello, my dolls. Welcome back to the Busy Yet Pretty Podcast. I'm your host, Jaden Haley. I hope you dolls have been doing lovely as usual this new year. I still cannot believe it's 23. I have just been so unbelievably motivated and honestly, I feel like this is the best I felt in so long because I am just so motivated and actually staying consistent with my routines and everything. So I'm very excited for this new year and to hear how you guys are doing as well. Let's get straight into our weekly review because we have lots to talk about today. So this week, I began just starting fresh. That was something I had planned for this new year and I kind of prepped a bit in December, but I have just been wanting to start fresh this new year, cleaning and everything to have a very
Starting point is 00:01:05 like simple plate to start on with new routines, healthy habits. and all. So I've been really starting fresh and I've been doing deep cleans. I did a huge deep clean and cleaned my entire apartment and now it's so nice. I just feel really at peace right now and I'm able to really focus on the important stuff when my things are cleaned. So I'm really happy that I did that. Another thing this week, I have been waking up early and going to sleep early. It's felt so amazing. I think that's something that makes a huge impact in my life is waking up early because I am such a morning person and I can tell my mood literally feels 10 times better when I wake up early or even 100 times better, honestly. I have been waking up at 5 a.m.
Starting point is 00:01:55 every single day without any alarm. Like, I don't know why my body will naturally wake up at 5 a.m. I'm ready to go. I will go to be. I will go to be able to be. bed really early so I have enough sleep because sleep is so necessary. And if you go to bed late one day, it's really good to sleep in a tad bit in the morning because sleep is so, so important, even more important than waking up early. And I've just been prioritizing my sleep and it's felt so nice. Another thing that I've done this week is built new routines and healthy habits, which we of course will talk about today. But it's been really good because I've been so consistent. And when you start to see results, even as early as a few days, it is so unbelievably rewarding.
Starting point is 00:02:39 And I'm just so excited to talk about this episode with you guys today. It's been raining outside and so cloudy right now. It's pouring rain. And I literally love it. I think it's so nice to get cozy. And I feel like I get a lot more things done while it's raining, which doesn't really make a lot of sense. But I feel so much more productive, actually, when it's raining.
Starting point is 00:03:02 so I just love it so much and I've just really been enjoying this rain. And lastly this week, I have just been really prioritizing time for myself and self-care and self-love because I feel like it's really easy after the holidays to get off routine. Like I said, we are starting new routines. And I have just been having self-care and self-love as really healthy habits. Something simple that I've been doing in my self-care and self-love routine is gwashing. I haven't gushed in so long and I've started doing it every single night and it has felt so good. I've missed it and I think it's just a nice time to be away from your phone and just enjoy time with yourself.
Starting point is 00:03:45 So that's something that I've been doing. Okay, now moving on to our current obsession. So right now, my current obsession is colored greens. If you don't know what this is, I'm sure you've seen it before, but it's almost like a lettuce wrap, but it's colored greens. but it's almost like a lettuce wrap, but it's colored greens where it can be used as like a wrap sandwich. And I have been making colored green wraps. It's so, so good. And if you want to know what I'm talking about, I have a highlight over my Instagram story for you guys to check out.
Starting point is 00:04:16 Another cramp session is early mornings. As I said, I've been loving the early mornings. I love to wake up early not only because it feels productive, but I wake up because it just has time to not be flooded with emails yet. Usually the emails will come in around 7 to 8. So it's really nice to just wake up really early and I will just look outside. I will journal and just take time for myself. Another current obsession is walking. I have been loving walking both outside and on the treadmill. It's been raining lately so I've been walking inside. But I just love walking so much. I think it's so nice and relaxing and it's such a good way how to get exercise in and movement in, but also
Starting point is 00:05:04 is just really nice. I don't know. I have just been loving to walk. Another current obsession is my array pills. I got these array pills for bloating a few months ago and it's helped me so much and I love them. I have them linked over my Amazon storefront if you are going to check them out, but I struggle with bloating a lot after being recovered from an eating disorder for. a few years now, but I still struggle with bloating and it's really nice because I've been taking it after meals and it's helped me digest food better if it's something that I'm eating that I'm kind of sensitive to. This is not sponsored at all. I literally just am a fan and I know some of you guys have been asking for recommendations for bloating supplements. So I wanted to let you guys know how much I've been loving this.
Starting point is 00:05:52 So I really recommend it. Another current obsession is cafe jazz music while I'm working. I every morning have been putting on cafe jazz music. I feel like it just makes me feel really focused in as if I'm working at a cafe. And it just is so relaxing. So I have been loving that so much. Another current obsession is breathwork and breathing. I think it's really good throughout the day to check in with yourself, do a little stretch every hour or so.
Starting point is 00:06:24 and do some breath work, whether that's taking a deep breath in and out. It just is super nice and it relaxes me. I just love it so much because it makes me feel more relaxed and less stressed. Okay, another cram obsession is the feeling of a fresh start. I have just been loving the feeling of being motivated this new year. There's so much to come and so much exciting things to experience and to do. I have just been really taking time for this and using every bit of time wisely, especially during right now where it's the beginning of the year. I like to go full force and really work my hardest and I want to feel my best.
Starting point is 00:07:07 So I do all that I can to feel my best mentally, physically, and all. Okay, guys, moving on to our goal of the week. So currently my goal of the week is to start planning ahead. I always plan the night before, but I think it's really good to start planning ahead because it's honestly so nice if you are able to work ahead and finish some things and you have some extra time to work on something new. I think it's really good to do that. I really want to start planning ahead and just feeling more prepared for the week. Another goal of the week is to start up YouTube videos again. This has been one of the most requested things and I am just so excited to get some.
Starting point is 00:07:49 started on it. I last year recorded so much footage. I have like hours of footage that I never posted. And it's not going to be posted because I think it's really good for me to let go of that and just get started on something new because I kept just putting it off editing. And now I'm just going to start fresh, record the footage and edit it faster. So I can just put out as much content as possible so you guys can see lots of busy yet pretty tips and a lifestyle that you can live to achieve your dream life but i'm very excited to get started on youtube videos again another goal of the week is to figure out new vitamin supplements that i like i have been taking magnesium and let me just say i am absolutely obsessed i have been having the best sleep and energy lately so i truly recommend
Starting point is 00:08:45 magnesium if you haven't started taking it. I will link my one that I'm taking over my Amazon storefront. It's so amazing and it also tastes so good because I do it in like a powder form and it's pink by the way. So it's literally gorgeous. It's very flavored and I have just been loving that. Another goal to week is the journal before bed. I think it's so important to journal manifest before bed and I say before bed because we're going to sleep and it's so necessary to think of the things that you're wanting to manifest and positive things before you're going to bed and waking up for the new day. So I just want to start doing that every single night, whether that's five minutes or an hour, just a little journaling session because I think it's so, so nice. My last goal of the
Starting point is 00:09:34 week is to decrease screen time even more than I have. I definitely have gone down at least an hour hour to three hours. Yes, my screen time was very bad, but also it's because I am on my phone all the time for work. So I just make sure that I'm not endlessly scrolling at all. And if I catch myself, I replace it with putting my phone down and doing something that is actually useful. And I have just been being mindful about that. Okay, a self-love question to ask yourself. How have you improved your life so far in this new year. Reflect and acknowledge it. I love this so much and I want you guys to really think about that.
Starting point is 00:10:17 And if you have a journal out, journal that question down and reflect and acknowledge it. Okay. Now up for an Apple podcast review. This podcast review is from Jordan K. Jordan said, I'm 16 and I was in a really bad mental place before I found this podcast and Jaden. This has helped me grow and experience. myself for who I am and I'm so grateful.
Starting point is 00:10:42 It's an amazing podcast and I never missed an episode. Jordan, that makes me so, so happy to hear. Hearing how the podcast has actually helped you guys, not only achieve a better life, but has actually, like, made a huge impact in your life is so meaningful to me. And I just thank you guys so much for the support. And I'm so glad to hear you're in a great place.
Starting point is 00:11:07 And I'm so, so proud of you. If you guys want to be featured in next week's episode, go leave a review over Apple Podcasts and also go leave a rating over Spotify. Okay, guys, now moving on to our affirmation of the week. So this week, our affirmation is, this is the year I become the best version of myself. I love this affirmation so much because in January, you know what, this is like a January affirmation. Let's affirm this every single day, wake up and affirm this. And because it's the new year, let's add something new to our intro. So we are going to add onto a weekly challenge.
Starting point is 00:11:50 So my challenge for you guys this week is set aside five minutes away from everyone and your phone. Take this time to write out what you're grateful for. I think this challenge is very good to be mindful and to be grateful. so I really challenge you guys to do that. And if you completed the weekly challenge, definitely tag me on your Instagram story. Okay, guys, before we get into today's episode, I just want to acknowledge that it's been one year since I started recording the podcast. Exactly one year ago today, I uploaded my first episode of Busy at Pretty and let me just
Starting point is 00:12:29 say, my life has changed since creating this podcast. hearing how much I've helped you guys. I wake up every day and just knowing I've helped at least one person has made my life just so much better because I want to help as many of you guys as possible to living the best life you can and to being the best version of yourself. Whether that means a five minute episode or an hour episode a week, I want to just help you guys so much. I wake up every day to hundreds of messages in my daily. DMs and so many tag stories and tag TikToks of you guys listening to the podcast.
Starting point is 00:13:09 So I've even received messages from some of you guys saying, I quote, saved your life. So that literally touches my heart so much to know that. Cheers to one year of Busy Yet Pretty. And let's get into today's episode, which I am so excited about because this is going to be a good one. Today's episode is on creating new routines and healthy habits. We all have goals in mind and we know what we want to set as our goals, especially in the beginning of the year when we have all our ideas of what we want to achieve and all. When setting a goal, the thought of achieving it sounds nice and the thought of setting it sounds nice because, oh yeah, I'll achieve that.
Starting point is 00:13:53 So thinking of being toned as your goal, buying a new car, self-care every night, but let me just say your goals will stay as a goal and not become your reality without a routine and healthy habits. I want you to take a second to think of some goals and intentions that you have for this year and what steps consist to achieving them. So for instance, if your goal is buying a new car, maybe a step is putting away $10 to your savings every day. Let's say your goal is to be more toned. So maybe a step is 30 minutes of an ab workout every day. Routines and healthy habits not only keep your day productive, but it helps you get closer to achieving your goals.
Starting point is 00:14:36 And productive, I don't mean actually being physically productive. Productive can actually look like taking a 15-minute rest. So I just wanted to let you guys know what I meant by the word productive. Back to what I was saying. Reflect on your routine and your past routines. And I want you to determine what you have benefited from and what you haven't benefited from. So let's start fresh on our routines and healthy habits. And today I'm going to share with you my favorite routines and healthy habits that I personally do to incorporate in my daily life.
Starting point is 00:15:09 With having a routine, it determines many outcomes. And some of the outcomes are success, happiness, wealth, relationships. I personally love to create new routines because based on my experience, when I have improved my routines, they have improved my health, my happiness. my career and so much more. So something that I think is really important that I do myself is with routines. I target my mind, body, soul, and career. That being said, I'm very disciplined with my routines, but I also allow myself to have flexibility in days
Starting point is 00:15:44 where I allow myself to have routines that vary and days look different. What I'm meaning is if my friends ask me to go to brunch one day, but I plan to do a workout today, it's okay. I'm going to go to brunch because. I want that experience and you know what, that workout will be there tomorrow. My plans changed. But you know what? I'm not going to shame myself for not being able to stick on routine today because I allowed
Starting point is 00:16:09 that flexibility. Let's say your usual routine is waking up and doing a workout. All of a sudden you were asked to go shopping this morning. Well, you know what? Today you're going to wake up and go shopping today. You don't need to do the workout today if you don't have the time. You don't need to shame yourself if you weren't able to get to something in your routine. Don't dwell on it that's only going to set you back even further.
Starting point is 00:16:34 So I think it's really important that you don't be strict with yourself and allow days to vary. If you do the same thing every single day, it will definitely become repetitive and will cause burnout. But I do think it's very important to be disciplined if you want to actually see results. You never should feel like you have to make something up if you miss something in your routine. My mindset is if I miss something in my routine today, I'll start again tomorrow. I'm not going to waste time trying to think how I can squeeze this in in my day. If I'm literally out all day to day and I'm going to be coming home late, you dwelling on missing that step in your routine will negatively affect you more than actually missing that step.
Starting point is 00:17:17 So as you know, I have been setting lots of self-care resolutions for 2023, especially small actions with big impact like meditating for 15 minutes in the morning. or maybe yours is cutting down on screen time, or finally not being the flaky friend by switching your shampoo. Let's be honest, most of us has dealt with dandrift at some point in our life. In fact, one in five of your friends is flaky. But for all the flaky friends in the group, keeping your resolution to stop flaking on your plans
Starting point is 00:17:46 just got a lot easier things to weigh. Flake-free is the way to be in 2023 with way's new anti-dandruff shampoo. I've always found it hard to find hair products that really keep my hair healthy, Especially me having long and thick hair. I really do want to take care of it. And I'm proud to say that Way is actually the secret to my hair routine. I personally don't struggle with dandruff, but dandruff is one of the population's main hair concerns,
Starting point is 00:18:11 and it's extremely common. Way's new anti-dandruff shampoo keeps flakiness at bay. The product is formulated with their Cape Town fragrance with notes of ginger and spearmint, so your hair smells as good as it feels. And salsolic acid to gently sootheque, itchy, irritated scalps while keeping hair clean and soft. After 28 days, 100% of participants agreed they saw fewer flakes and their scalp felt less
Starting point is 00:18:36 itchy and irritated based on a 28-day consumer study of 25 participants. Do more than drugs start with the new anti-dandruff shampoo from Way, founded by the celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin with a goal of giving consumers what they want instead of telling them what they need. Go to t-h-e-o-u-a-i-com and use code pretty for 15% off your entire purchase. That's t-h-e-o-u-a-i-com code pretty. Up your hair routine and stop being that flaky friend. So personally, I may tell you guys about my routine,
Starting point is 00:19:15 but my routine differs throughout the week and some things come up where I don't stick completely to schedule, but my general 20-23 routine that I've set for myself looks like. waking up at 5 a.m. Doing some form of movement every single morning, whether that's Pilates, yoga, walking, drinking bone broth or tea in the morning. I have been loving that. Skin care,
Starting point is 00:19:39 ice roll, eat breakfast, take my supplements and vitamins, five minute journal, write in my planner, turn on cafe jazz music, work until lunch, eat lunch, work, matcha, emails, shower, self-care,
Starting point is 00:19:54 I'll have some dinner and dessert, watch TV, go on Pinterest and then go to bed early. That's what my general 2023 routine I've made for myself looks like. Although it's not like that every single day, I try to stick with it as much as possible. So I want you to think of some healthy habits that you can incorporate yourself into your daily routine.
Starting point is 00:20:17 Let's together create your personal 2023 daily routine. So I want you to start with your mind. As I said, when I create a routine, I target my mind, body, soul, and career. My personal things that I incorporate for my mind and my daily routine is my five-minute journal, affirmations, and law of attraction. Some other examples that maybe you could do is journal, meditate, breathwork, reading, listening to a podcast as you are right now, go outside, clean your space, get enough sleep.
Starting point is 00:20:51 Those are things that cater to your mind, and I think it's really important to choose a few of those things or anything that you have in mind that are able to help benefit your mind in your daily routine. Next, we're going to target body. So things that I incorporate into my daily routine that benefits my body are Pilates, yoga, stretching, self-care. So self-care for me looks like skincare, walking, eating nutritious foods, taking my vitamins. So a good example of things that maybe you could do to your routine is run, drink coconut water, 15 minutes, of resting a day, replacing coffee with macha, sauna, cryotherapy, dry scrubbing, guasha, taking a bath, taking a nice shower. Those are things that you can do to incorporate into
Starting point is 00:21:40 your daily routine that help benefit your body. Next, let's move on to the category of soul. So things that I do to benefit my soul and my daily routine is talking with my mom. I love to talk with her so her and I will talk on the phone or she'll come and visit me. Another thing is be with my family, brunch with my friends, watch a movie or show on the evening, scroll on Pinterest, and eat desserts. Those are all things that make my soul happy and that benefit my soul. Some things that may be beneficial to your soul in your daily routine is maybe, let's say you're religious, so going to church, sing your friends, praying, going on a walk with
Starting point is 00:22:24 them, eating comfort food, prioritizing relaxing time, laying in the park. Those are some things that you can do to incorporate into your daily routine for your soul. Now let's move on to our career, which is one of my favorite things because I personally am very, very into my career and very into what my life is going to look like with my career. So I really want to take a lot time to prioritize this as well. And if you don't know what exactly your career is going to be or what it looks like, it doesn't matter. I'm talking about the general entire future and career of whatever job that you do. It doesn't need to have a title on it. It can just be things that help you benefit yourself in the future for work or your job. So things that I do to benefit
Starting point is 00:23:12 my career in my everyday life is answering my emails in the morning, working on my podcast, making videos and content for my socials, brainstorming for my next project, writing in my planner, writing down ideas to work on the future. Those are some of the things that I like to do, but some of the things that may be helpful for you to do in your daily routine
Starting point is 00:23:35 are research on a topic of something that you've been wanting to learn. Let's say you want to be a doctor and you want to go to school for being a doctor, then research on colleges that offer schooling on it. Another thing you could do is pick up internet. Surround yourself with people who have knowledge in your career path. I know I always say this, but it's so true. If you put yourself in a room with a ton of positive people, you're going to become so
Starting point is 00:24:00 positive and that's just how it works. If you put yourself in a room with people who have knowledge in the career that you want to be in, you will start learning about that career path. So take that to mind and really think about how you can incorporate that. So those were things that I personally do in ideas you can do for your mind, body, soul, and career in your daily routine. But I know when creating new routines and healthy habits, it can become sort of overwhelming
Starting point is 00:24:26 because you're going from zero to nothing sometimes. So I want you to really be mindful of going one by one and incorporating every single thing step by step. That will promote consistency and will allow you to go step by step rather than taking it all in at once, which can be totally overwhelming. And once you achieve a healthy habit and lock it in, I want you to reward yourself.
Starting point is 00:24:49 It takes 21 days to create a habit and 90 days to make it a part of your lifestyle. Let's say you want to start waking up at 6 a.m. And drinking no coffee and having a 30 minute workout. Okay, first step, start off with waking up at 6 a.m. So once you get that going and lock that down, start incorporating the no coffee habit. Once you start doing no coffee, then start to incorporate the 30 minute workout. That will help you pick up habits much easier and also. also will allow you to see progress a lot more clear.
Starting point is 00:25:21 And my dolls, let me say consistency is key. And something else really important to remember is a little progress is better than no progress at all. I promise to you when you have structure in your day, you'll feel 100% better, accomplish more and get closer to achieving your goals. You have to stop with excuses. The only person you're hurting is yourself. Get up, do your routine and your healthy habits, and you will be so, proud of yourself. I love this method so much that I heard. I think it's so smart, but this is a really
Starting point is 00:25:52 good way to help avoid procrastinating. But the next time you're going to say, oh, I'll do this later. Think, does this take under three minutes to do now? If the task that you're wanting to put off takes under three minutes, then do it now. Let's say that you have five shirts on your bed and you're saying you'll hang it up later. It takes under three minutes to do. So do it now because in reality, you will not come back to do it later and those five shirts that need to be hung will literally turn into 20 shirts if you continue to say that you'll do it later. Small tasks that are put off built up to being huge hard task if you keep putting it off. Stop putting things off. Do the easy task now and you will see how put together your life feels.
Starting point is 00:26:37 In regarding routines, some people find it easier to stick to new routines when they track it with a calendar or on their planner. So it's really important to buy a planner or a calendar if you have a hard time sticking to your routines. And this is a topic that I really want to talk about that I'm passionate about because I used to do this all the time. And I still catch myself sometimes doing it myself, but it's avoiding the all or nothing mindset. Let's say I'll wake up way past my alarm was set and I'll miss my workout and forget my five minute journal. And then I'll just accept that today is a bad day after that happens. and then I'll just think tomorrow will be a better day. No, the rest of the day can be better.
Starting point is 00:27:18 It's 10 a.m. Okay, yeah, maybe you woke up late, missed your workout, and forgot your five-minute journal. The day is not over. It's literally 10 a.m. Why are you already summing up the day as bad and saying, tomorrow will be better? Yeah, tomorrow will be better. But also, today will be better too.
Starting point is 00:27:35 Change your mindset from the all-or-nothing mindset to something is better than nothing. So I promise you, when you change your mind. your mindset from all or nothing to something is better than nothing, you will see progress and results. You have to stop wasting time dwelling or pitying yourself. You're here for a reason, okay? You're not here to fill every single day with excuses and pity. It doesn't matter how far set back you guys think you are. Starting tomorrow is better than starting never and starting now is better than starting tomorrow. Create a routine that you love that includes healthy habits for your mind, body, soul, and career.
Starting point is 00:28:12 You have to stick to your routine and I promise you, you will be amazed by the results. And surround yourself with others who have motivating routines themselves. Like I said, if you surround yourself with people who make excuses and are negative and sit around all day, you'll become them. You become who and what your environment is. Get a cute workout set on and do some yoga. Clean your room. Compliment someone.
Starting point is 00:28:36 Eat nutritious meals. Journal. and be busy yet pretty. I promise you, you guys can do this. If I can, you can. Create a life for yourself that you cannot wait to wake up to. Trust me, I've been there. I've been completely depressed with anorexia and never want to wake up.
Starting point is 00:28:56 And now I wake up so excited to live my life every single day waiting to see what the world has in store for me. So I promise you if you create those healthy habits and routines and be consistent, you will see results. and live the life that you've always wanted to live. I love you guys so much, and I hope you guys enjoyed this episode. Please, please, please leave a review over Apple Podcasts and rate over Spotify.
