Welcome back to another episode of Busy Yet Pretty. I'm your host, Jaden Haley, and I hope you all have been doing absolutely lovely as always. So for today, I first want you guys to start thinking about a goal that you can make for yourself for this week. So to start off this episode, let's just think of something that we are grateful for. What's something that you are grateful for today in your life?
Let's get into the weekly review.
So if you know me, I live, breathe, and sleep fashion.
I literally have been so out of my usual though.
I haven't gotten to wear any cute outfits or haven't put on any cute outfits really for the past, I'd say, three to four months.
Well, I have.
But it's been really hard for me because my closet, I don't have a walk-in closet.
And for the amount of clothes that I have requires a walk-in closet.
I have my entire two racks full of clothing that is completely full.
I mean, I can't get a single piece of clothing off it unless everything else is going to come down with it,
as well as two corset racks of mine completely filled and all my drawers won't close.
So I have clothes everywhere and it's honestly made it so hard to enjoy fashion and my clothes as I usually do.
because I'm not able to access the clothes I want to wear.
This has been my big dilemma, and I am going to start looking through clothes very soon having a clothing sale.
I live in San Diego, so I'll probably have a clothing sale in either San Diego, Orange County, or L.A.
So if any of those three sound good to you, DM me, and I will be sure to have a pop-up very soon.
Anyways, but I haven't had the desire to wear any of my clothing pieces lately because I can't get
out of my closet without a hassle. So that has been something I have been thinking of because I honestly
was like, wait, like I livery sleep fashion. Why am I not interested in fashion right now? It's not that I'm not
interested. Why am I not interested in getting ready in my cute usual outfits? And I kind of correct
the obvious, which is I have too much stuff for not enough space. And I know lots of people would
died to have this problem, but this problem is not cute at all. Like, once I try to get one shirt
off the hanger, five more hangers come down and fall on the floor. Like, it's awful. Aside from me not
being able to access my closet, this week I've been waking up every single day at six and I love it.
I'm usually a 630 waker and it definitely has to do with me going to bed a little later back then,
but now I'm going to bed bright and early still.
So I'll go to bed like 10 o'clock,
but that's the latest it gets because I love waking up early.
But I've been just loving waking up at 6 every day
and getting all my work done.
And it just makes me so happy to wake up early, look outside.
And on the weekends, I've started to sleep in a little bit
and start waking up at 7.
So now I have been sleeping until 7 on the weekends, which is pretty nice for a little break.
But no matter what, I'm an early waker.
So I always love waking me up early.
So 7 is a good sleep in time for me.
Okay, another thing this week is I filmed my morning routine video over YouTube and it came out pretty good.
I'm really excited.
So if you are looking forward to seeing any videos from me over YouTube,
go feel free to subscribe because I'll be posting very very soon. So next up is current obsessions.
So my current obsession right now is waking up early, as I said. And it's not even necessarily
waking up early, but it's the act of waking up early, taking time to buffer in the morning
before getting straight into my day full force. So I'll give you an example. I used to wake up at 6.30
and then be working out by 645.
And 15 minutes was just not enough for me to have time to buffer and really wake myself up.
So I even seen the improvement in my workouts because I was so tired back then when I'd only get straight into my workouts full force
rather than wait a little bit of time and then do my workout.
Or same with work.
I would work better once I had time to myself in the morning and then as I say buffer and then getting into work.
So I had just been loving, waking up early and taking time to buffer.
So I've been waking up at 6 and then starting to work out by around 9 o'clock,
which I feel like gives me enough time to wake up and get a little bit of work done.
Okay, another current obsession is putting makeup on.
I've been having fun with it.
I usually love to just have no makeup on because it makes my skin just feel really nice and fresh.
But you know what?
I've been having fun with it and it's been making me happy.
So that's a current obsession.
Okay, another one is picking out cute outfits.
As I said, my closet is literally flooding with clothes.
I have still been trying to wear some cute clothes again because I miss it.
I miss dressing up.
I miss dressing cute.
And fashion is everything to me.
So when I haven't been able to express my style through clothes, it's been hard because I can't access
my closet.
So it's been a very hard to learn.
up but definitely getting back in the swing of things with outfits have been making me so happy.
Okay, another current obsession is Greek salads. I am always a Greek salad girl, but lately I've
been making a Greek salad every single day at home, including the dressing, and it's immaculate.
It's literally my comfort food, not my safe food. I don't want anyone to get that confused.
It's my comfort food, meaning like if I want it like a happy feeling, I'll eat a Greek salad.
It's literally so good. It makes me just so happy. And I think I used to eat them when I was younger, maybe a lot too. So maybe that's why it's a comfort food. But I just love it so much. Okay. Lastly, another current obsession is walking. I love a good walk. Walking is just so good for your mind and your body. And I just think it's so good for your health. So I have been walking quite a bit lately as well as adding some steps into running.
And just walking makes me so happy.
Okay, for the goal of the week.
So one of my goals of the week is to learn more about balancing my hormones.
I know a lot of people talk about this nowadays, just as people talk about gut health,
and balancing hormones are so, so, so important.
And I truly would love to know more about it because when I suffered with anorexia a few years ago,
I lost my period for a while.
I've had it back now for probably a year and a half now, but I have developed extreme period pains and emotions when having my period or before my period.
So I feel like figuring out how to balance hormones are so important and I really do want to learn more about it.
So that is one of my goals of the week.
Another one of my goals of the week is, as I was talking about before, is sifting through some clothes in my closet to have a pop-up with because I cannot keep all these clothes.
So that is another goal.
As someone who does freelance work and works at home, I'm not in an office where I'm not able to take a nap if I want to.
But I can if I'm home, which I am.
So I really want to encourage myself to take a 10 minute nap.
I don't like sleeping over 10 minutes because I literally will have the best power nap in 10 minutes.
I will set my alarm for 15 minutes, like 5 minutes to fall asleep, then 10 minutes to rest.
and I swear I feel so much more energized.
So one of the things I want to do is really dedicate time 10 minutes per day to take a little power nap whenever I'm feeling tired because it really helps bring energy for the rest of my day.
Okay, a quote for my five-minute journal.
You do not find the happy life, you make it.
I love that so much because it's so true.
People need to stop searching for a happy life and make it yourself.
The point is, is you are.
the only one in control of your life and you need to make your own life happy yourself. So it doesn't
need to have someone else in your life to make it happy or a certain thing to make it happy. So
make your own happy life. Okay, a self-love question to ask yourself, who do I compare myself the
most to? Why them? How does the comparison fuel me and how does it drain me? I love that so much because
you really get to take time to really think why am I comparing myself to a
specific person or thing. We don't usually think deeply like this all the time. So it's really good
to channel those thoughts and really understand where your thinking is coming from. Okay, an Apple podcast
review. Jules said, it's my first time listening to this podcast and I immediately fell in love.
I learned super helpful tips already on motivation and wellness. I want to start getting into wellness
so this is perfect and so educational. Thank you so much, Jaden. Thank you.
so much jewels. That was so, so sweet, and I appreciate that more than ever. The reviews you guys leave
on Apple Podcasts make me so, so happy. And if you would like to be featured on the next episode of
an Apple Podcast Review, feel free to go leave one right now. Okay, so today, I really wanted to talk to you
guys about the topic of careers. Naturally, I'm very career-driven and have a pretty strong work
ethic. So I feel like a lot of this comes naturally, but there are a lot of things I learned
throughout the way that I learned just in life in general that I would love to talk with you guys
about. And a lot of you guys ask questions because they put a little question sticker on my
Instagram. So I picked a few to answer today that you guys asked. And this can apply to all
ages and all stages of life you're in because this is your own personal life and careers
don't need to start right after high school. They can start wherever. So whatever I say in this episode,
no matter the stage you're in or the age you are, this can apply to you. Let me give a brief rundown.
If you're new to the podcast, I'm 19. I have been homeschooled slash online school, all in middle
school and the last few years of high school. So I've done it all online, public, private, you name it,
I've done it. So for high school, I graduated a semester early, and then afterwards, I took some
college classes. I was going to use for when I applied to a school. I started posting a little
consistently over social media around senior year of high school. And then after high school,
I started posting a lot more even. And then that's where my career started to take off. Influencing
isn't going to be my career my entire life because I want to do business and I want to have a
clothing line, but I'll get into that. This is what I started off doing right now and I'm currently
doing and I love it so, so much. I started off posting as my niche being fashion and throughout
time I started to incorporate wellness into my content as well. I began working with so many brands
that I could have never even dreamed of working with and to not say because I'm on inside perspective,
but I feel like it's going pretty well right now for me. So I am very, very satisfied and happy with
my job. So I've been working as a quote influencer slash content creator. It's been my full-time job
since last year. I work my ass off every single day. Literally the moment I wake up, I am starting
work. Well, first buffering in the morning, of course, but after buffering, then I get up and I
start my work until the moment I go to bed. I work every day and I feel like a lot of people don't
really understand the behind the scenes of an quote influencer but that's a whole nother episode
lots of emails lots of meetings lots of editing lots of filming lots of negotiating and just so so much more
but i work all day long and i seriously love this job though my career though i am of course
wanting to stick with influencing for as long as i can i love it so so much but more
More of I'm currently creating the identity of my name and brand right now of just who I am as a person,
where I then will have my own clothing line in late 2022 to early 2023.
So that's my current plan.
So I'm going to further my influencing into my clothing line.
That's basically a brief little summary of me and my career and job-wise.
But oh, I also forgot to add, I had planned to go to New York to go to fashion school.
Things didn't turn out as a plan from the crime rate right now.
So decide to stay home, not going to school.
Job is going pretty well.
And there are some jobs that you don't need to go to school for.
So I'm not going to go to school as of now.
But of course, school will always be there in the future if I want to go.
But currently, I am doing my job and going to be starting my clothing line soon.
With that being said, I want to get straight into.
this episode. So like I said, I asked you guys over my Instagram story if you guys had any questions
regarding careers or just the topic of careers. So lots of you guys had so many amazing questions and
replies, but I picked out a few of my favorites to spark up some conversation that I could talk to you
guys about. So Sal Stay asked, how do I know if I'm choosing the right career? What I would say is don't
necessarily look for a job that pays well. So if you want to be an artist, but you know that
doctors get paid more, and then you're like, okay, I'll just be a doctor because it pays better.
Let me just say there are so many careers for art. And in the end of the day, if you're not
liking being a doctor, you're not going to be happy. No amount of money can buy happiness.
So let's say you took the route of being an artist instead. Well, you love doing art. And
it's your passion, so you're having fun doing it every day. Plus, it's a good paying job still.
There is jobs for every single thing in the world. Whatever you think of, there's a job for.
And that's why I don't recommend looking for jobs that necessarily pay good or certain jobs that
have good benefits because everything pays and everything has benefits. I really recommend
just targeting your hobbies and interests. And another thing is, is job.
versus career because I know she said how do I know if I'm choosing the right career?
So a job a lot can be under a career and a job can also be totally separate than a career.
So for instance, if you want to be an artist, that's your career.
If you want to be a doctor, that's your career. It's still a job, but that's also your career route.
Let's say you are trying to make some extra money before you get into starting your actual career.
So for instance, if you are going to take time before starting your career up, but you want to make some more extra money, then that would be getting just a job.
And it wouldn't be a job for your career, but it's going to be a job that basically benefits your career in the future, but doesn't have to do with your career.
So to give another example, if you want to be a doctor, let's say you want to make some money, maybe in high school to start helping out for, you know, college tuition is going to be a lot.
so let's say you want to make some extra money in high school.
So you're going to work at, let's say, Taco Bell.
Okay, that's your job.
You don't necessarily have to love your job.
The point is you need to love your career.
And that's something that you should be focusing on is loving your career.
You have to understand that most likely you won't be in love with your job and that's okay.
But you need to make sure that you're in love with your career because a career is what you're putting your time.
and ever into, and of course you're putting your time and effort into a job, but temporary jobs
to make some extra money or something isn't something that you necessarily have to love. Any job,
you can always switch and go to a different job. Any career path you're on, you can always take a
turn at any time and start fresh. There is so much time in this world and don't waste it by doing
something that you don't love. And if you're really, really debating on careers and you really don't know,
but you have some ideas, that's totally fine.
I honestly recommend just going to take some college classes
or get your associates at least because it will help you have extra courses
that you can put towards going to school for your career when you find out what you want to be
or just having that extra education where you maybe don't necessarily have to go to college again,
but you have those classes that you took and it can benefit you towards any career that you choose.
Sabrina asked, how do you manage to do so many things in one day?
So I definitely get stressed.
That is a big thing I totally do and I'm not going to cover it up and say,
I've never stressed and I do all this stuff.
I'm stress.
And I also overwork myself sometimes.
And I think that stems from my natural work ethic that I have.
So I definitely do.
I really take time to get on track and have a healthy balance of
having a non-stressful life and still getting lots of stuff done, which is very, very possible.
So something that I really recommend is balancing your wants and priorities.
Make sure you have a few very strict priorities that you're wanting to accomplish and then have your
wants.
So let's say your priority is to finish this book for school.
Okay, that's a priority.
and let's say your want is to go on your phone.
You need to first finish your priority
and then attend to your wants after your priorities.
Also, I would say physically write out your schedule every single day.
Every single day I have my schedule written out.
The night before, I like to plan a little bit for my schedule the next day.
I will write if I have a meeting.
I'll write if I have to edit something, a certain time.
Every single thing is scheduled out and it really helps you have just balance and structure.
Someone asked, how do you stay so consistent and keep having motivation?
So I would say it gets easier to be consistent once you've had noticeable results to your actions.
So once you start noticing results, of course, it's going to spark more motivation to continue what you're doing.
So I would say give it time and be consistent because when you are, you will finally start seeing results and those results will be a little reward to your actions of being consistent.
habits are also so important and I totally recommend reading atomic habits.
I've been reading it and it's absolutely amazing and it really gives a full idea of structure
and keeping habits up and rewarding yourself.
I just think it's so important.
As well as focus on the end goal.
What is your end goal?
And that is something that will really help keep you motivated.
Let's say that you want to get into this one college and you are having a hard time
keeping consistent with high school.
Well, just know if you finish all your work and work really hard, all that work is
going to pay off once you're accepted to the college that you want to go to.
So just focus on the end goal and that will help you take actions into being consistent and
keeping motivation.
Natasha said, I have so many ideas of what I want to do.
How do I pick one?
So honestly, I think it's so good that you have multiple choices and, you know, and
ideas for careers because it's so, so good to test out trial and error. And trial and error
is literally a form of art to me. Because when you constantly try something new and even if every
single time it is an error or a fail, that just shows something about yourself and what your
interests are. So I think it's actually really helpful to have a plan B, a plan C, a plan D, a plan
and e, et cetera, because it gives you a sense of lots of opportunities of what you're wanting to do
rather than actually sticking to one thing. And honestly, as I said, if you are planning to go to
college, I truly recommend just taking some general classes where it can just benefit all of your
career ideas. So whatever you end up choosing the classes that you took that were general ed in
college, it will benefit your career in general. Zogia asked, what did you want to become when you were
younger? This is really funny because I actually never really dreamed of a specific career. I really
just let it come naturally to me and I think organic dreams and organic career ideas that aren't
forced are really, really good because it shows your true interest of what you're wanting. My parents
never pressured me to have a starting career and it really just came to me and I think that's honestly
great when it really comes to you without being forced on you because it allows you to really have
your own ideas and opinion on what you're wanting to do. I did not realize I want to be a fashion
designer slash work in the fashion industry until senior year of high school, which is still
really early to know exactly what you want to be. Some people know from the day they are
born what they want to be. And when you see a lot of people talk about what they want to be,
it feels like scary that why don't I know what I want to be? And after high school, you're not late
of knowing what you want to be. You can be in your late 20s, your early 30s, whatever it is,
it doesn't matter if you still are trying to decide what career path that you want to take,
as long as you're having a job that's supporting you. And I think that there's endless time to
choose your career as well as change up career paths. I listen to a lot of speakers and some are
70 years old and started a new career path. It doesn't matter your age. You can start a career path at any
time and start fresh. Angelica said, are you ever scared that you are going to fail in life?
I love your podcast, by the way. Thank you, Angelica, so much for appreciating the podcast.
I truly have nothing but excitement for the future. And I've never.
actually thought about, quote, failing. I think it's because I've really trained my brain
since early high school just to know everything will work out as it should, and I can do
anything that I put my mind to. So no, I don't ever get scared of failing in life, but I am sure
it's common to have that feeling. And I think that's really good to start training your
brain into thinking that everything is going to work out because it will. You are the creator of
your own life. If you want your life to work out, you will make it work out. Oh, I'm recording this.
It's 11-11. Make a wish. Well, I know it's not 11-11. Probably when you're listening to this,
but make a wish anyways. Next, someone said, what is your best tip for sending goals in manifesting
achievements? So I would say start with small goals and rewards. When you start,
with smaller goals, it's easier to achieve faster than a bigger goal. So once you achieve that small
goal, reward yourself with something that you love. It'll be so easy, natural to achieve the
small goals that the big goals doesn't feel so hard. And you really need to realize that you can do
anything that you put your mind to. So whatever you want to achieve, you can do it if you want it bad
enough. Freya asked, how are you able to work on your own time? So as I said, I do freelance, so there's no
higher position above me in my current job. So I don't have a manager telling me to come into an office
at this time and this time. So I can literally stop working at any time. But of course, if I stop working,
that means I won't have my income and I really just enjoy posting in general. So it's kind of
that my hobby actually goes with my job. So if I stop doing my job, I won't have my income.
That's why freelance is for only specific people who can actually set schedules for themselves
and stick to it because I can't just let my days go by and not work. I could. Like no one's
going to tell me I'm in the wrong or something, unless it's a partnership that's going on. But
I need to do my work. And I set my own schedule, even though I plan my own schedule,
and I don't work with nine to five, I literally work a 24-7.
I am constantly doing work and answering emails, but I'm not complaining.
I love it so much, but that's how I'm able to work on my own time.
It is nice because I can be flexible with my schedule and the hours that I do want to put time into work.
So if I have to go up to L.A. for an event, I can just say, okay, today I'm not going to work that much,
and I'll do that work the day before instead.
Solar men said,
how do I balance mental health with my job?
It's so important to realize that, yes, work is important,
but you are more important.
Your job isn't forever and you are.
So you really need to make sure that you are in a good head space
and really take care of your mental health.
I'm going to give an example.
You know on the airplanes when they say to the adults and parents,
put your mask on before you put on your child's mask so you can attend to your kid properly.
So it's just like putting your mental health first so that you can attend to your job properly.
You can't attend at your best effort to your job if your mental health isn't performing at its best.
So just as mental health being the mask, put your mask on first and then attend to your job after.
I would say schedule time strictly on self-care.
whatever self-care looks like to you is perfect and just attend to yourself.
It's really important to do that and schedule some time either in the morning, end of the day,
whenever you don't have work to really just appreciate time with yourself.
Another person said, how do I do well in an interview as I am a shy person?
So something that I tell many people are whoever you're being interviewed by knows nothing about you.
They don't know anything about you prior to the interview.
Whatever you tell them in the interview is what they will believe.
So if you're shy, they don't know that unless you make the first impression at the interview of being shy.
Nobody knows you're shy.
Nobody knows your story.
You're the only one who knows it.
So you are brand new to them.
So they don't know anything about you.
So it all depends on how you make the first impression.
And I also would recommend just breathing exercises and practicing
notes of what you want to say. Sam said, do you have any tips of how to effectively schedule your
day in a productive and healthy way? So honestly, I'm going to take it back to the balancing between
priorities and wants because if there are certain things that you want and priorities, you need to
have a healthy balance between those two. I think it's really good to incorporate time for yourself
and self-care because it's really hard to keep going when you're constantly doing work,
reward yourself for whatever you do, and take time to strictly be towards self-care.
Alana said, do you think you should ever consider your passions and your career?
Also, I love the podcast.
Thank you, Alana, you're so sweet, and definitely,
that's kind of what I talked to about before, a few questions ago,
but the only way that you should scout your career is through passion.
Like I said, there's a job for everything.
You will not be happy in the end of the day if your career doesn't align with your passions.
Like I said, no amount of money will buy your happiness, so you really need to find what passion you love
and you can find so many jobs according to your passion.
Someone asked, how do I fix my sleep schedule so I can be more productive?
So I would say be in bed at least an hour before the desired time that you want to go to bed by.
Another one because a blue light is to avoid your phone and screen time in bed.
You also don't need over 8 hours of sleep.
So 7 to 8 hours is a perfect amount of time to sleep.
I recommend setting multiple alarms if you have a goal to wake up by 6 o'clock.
And you're waking up at 9 right now.
Start by waking up by 8.50.
And then start waking up at 8.40.
Then by 8.30.
Every single day, take off 10 minutes.
It will help you reach your desired wake time.
Also, reward yourself in the morning, whether that's a cup of coffee, a tea, something exciting
to do in the morning that you look forward to, so it will help get you out of bed.
Maya asked, how should I plan for the future if I don't even know what I want to be?
If you have no clue what you want to be, take some general college classes and it can be beneficial
to almost all career choices.
So for whatever you choose in the future, it's so good to have any extra education.
that you can present. So I think it's good to go take some college classes if you don't know what you
want to do. I also recommend pinpointing your passions and your hobbies, and that will help you
discover jobs that work in that industry. So I really recommend that. Another person said,
I need an internship slash job this summer, preferably in fashion. Do you have any tips?
So there's literally a girl on TikTok. She lists all available jobs in internships in the fashion
and beauty industry. I don't remember her user, but there is so many people who just lists
availability for jobs out there, as well as check LinkedIn. LinkedIn is always looking for
people to take up job offers and internships, so you can actually pinpoint what industry that you
want to work with. Also, let's say for the fashion industry. A good way to start out is to reach out
to stylists that you follow on Instagram or social media and find their email, email them,
asking them if you can be their intern because it's really good to get experience and I really
recommend that. I'm going to answer one last question. CEO said, how do you know if you were getting
enough wage? B2W, I love your podcast. Thank you CIO so much. That is so sweet of you and I honestly
can't give too much advice being I never worked a nine to five or anything other than my
independent job I'm doing now. But I do know if you are putting in above and beyond the expected,
don't be afraid to confidently ask for a raise because if you truly believe you do deserve a raise,
you need to present it to them confidently. And that really will show them that, oh, wow,
they are doing above and beyond and really lay out what you're doing that is above and beyond the
expect it. Honestly, to wrap this up, I really think it's good to develop a steady and good
work ethic, work hard, and show up for yourself. That is so important. Challenge yourself as well as
attending to your needs. So those are some of my favorite things to think about when talking about
careers and just jobs in general. I hope you're listening to this episode. You got some helpful
tips and advice for careers. Also, guys, busy at Pretty is 29 on the Spotify charts.
in education. It's literally climbing every day. I am just so unbelievably happy. So I truly,
truly, truly encourage you to leave a rating over Spotify. It takes literally two seconds. I appreciate
that so, so, so much. Please leave a review over Apple Podcasts to be featured in the next
