Hello, my love. Welcome to The Busy Yet Pretty Podcast. I'm your host, Jaden Haley. If you're new here,
welcome. I'm so happy to have you here. I talk all about how to become the best version of you,
summer, seasons, and just all things that you can make your life better through routines and healthy
habits and honestly just feeling motivated to love life again. There is so much we do throughout our days and
our routines that just make us who we are, which is why I thought today's episode is so important to talk
about, especially with the summer coming up where we may have more free time and trying to discover
what is meant for us. So today's episode, we're going to talk about everything around you is
shaping you and the power of your thoughts, unhealthy habits, and friendships, and honestly,
how to just set yourself up for success. But before we get into today's episode, let's go in with
our weekly review. So this week, my mom and I have been binge watching every summer after.
Literally so good. We went to the screenings, and it was just so fun.
but we are watching every summer after now, which is the perfect summer show.
Honestly, if you have watched it and have read the book, let me know which one you like better.
Don't get me wrong.
I love the show, but nothing hits like the book.
Every summer after is truly my favorite book of all time.
So if you need a good summer book to read, I really recommend that.
Another thing this week is I have just been giving myself more time to have a flexible schedule.
I've been swimming lately and I have just been relaxing, reading.
and a sling in the sun. And lastly this week is I have just been transitioning into my new
summer routine. If you listen to the last week's episode, I talked about how we can have a new
summer routine and a routine that may work for you for summer and also just summer hobbies.
So those are things I have just been locking into, which has been so nice and motivating for the
new season. Now on to the current obsessions of the week. My current obsession right now is
macho lattes and overnight oats. That breakfast combo is like no other. It seriously is like no other.
It's so good and I have just been loving it.
Another current obsession right now is walking outside in the sunshine.
There's seriously nothing like getting the hot summer sun on your body, just waking up and it just feels so nice.
And also, I feel a little more like energy drained by the end of the day, which I like when I grow out in the sun.
Because one, it just makes me feel like I had a longer day, feeling like I did something outside.
And two, it just makes me feel way more relaxed in the evening when I got outside, when I got outside, when I got an hour,
a little walk and sweat a bit. So another crap session right now is also my robe rack. If you know,
I am someone who loves robes. I'm posting a little robe rack collection tour soon, so stay tuned
for that. But I love nothing more than robes. I feel like they're so chic. And honestly,
the perfect way to just add character to your room. Now on to the goal of the week. My goal of the week
right now is to drop some clothes off at the homeless shelters. I have so many clothes that I'm getting rid of
now, which has been so hard for me because I'm someone who just has attachments to everything.
But something that does make me feel good when getting rid of things and makes it easier to
get rid of things is knowing it's going towards people who actually need it. So I need to go drop
some clothes off at the shelter this week. And another goal of the week right now is to find a new
cookbook that I can use all summer long. I love finding a cookbook that I can just reference.
And it just makes it exciting to have something to cook in the evening. And my last goal of the week right now is to plant and
organize all my herbs in my garden. I have just been on a little pause with my garden when I was
dealing with my cat stuff. But now that everything is a little more in order, I'm now going to
start doing my garden and I'm so excited. I'm just hoping it's not too hot now for the summertime
to have my herbs. Now unto your affirmation of the week. I'm going to find myself in the piece I've been
needing this summer. I love that affirmation so much and I really recommend affirming that to yourself.
Now and to the self-love question of the week. How can I show up for myself? I'm going to show up for
myself at the end of each day. I love that question so much and I really recommend asking yourself
and journaling it. Now for the podcast review. If you want to be featured on next week's episode,
make sure to leave a podcast review over Apple Podcasts, leave a rating over Spotify, and also feel
free to always share over your Instagram, your stories or TikTok. I always love when you guys post
the podcast. I will always repost it if you guys tag me. This review is from Lucy and Lucy said,
Hey Jaden, I love your podcast so much.
And I started myself, Karen's self-love journey because of you.
I recently started journaling and it really helps me appreciate what I have.
My I hate Monday's mug should change to I love Mondays because there's a new episode.
Love the podcast. Love Lucy.
Lucy, thank you so much.
I am so grateful to hear that you love the podcast and I love the reference to your mug.
Let's be honest, Mondays are something that we kind of all dread.
But if you have been watching my No Scroll Sundays on my Instagram and TikTok,
you know I've been trying to make my Sundays to just get rid of those Monday, the Sunday
scaries, but just to not dread Mondays. So I'm really happy that you are enjoying the podcast
and not having those Monday scurries anymore. Without further ado, it is time to get into today's
episode. Today's episode is everything around you is shaping you and just the power of your thoughts,
how unhealthy habits and friendships and relationships really just reflect inward to you as a person
and how to set yourself up for success around your environment so it reflects better into you.
We become what will you repeatedly think consume and just surround ourselves with?
I reference and say this a lot on the podcast, but if you know, I always say if you hang around
five negative people, you'll become the six.
I think the actual like original quote is, if you hang around five smokers, you'll become the six.
But I like to think of it, like if you hang around five negative people, you'll become the six.
and if you hang around five positive people, you'll become the six.
Most people want a different life, but keep the same environment.
And that sometimes is one of the biggest things keeping you back from having that change
and improvement in your life.
This is how your room, your friendships, your habits, social media, and just thoughts
shape your future.
So let's get into talking about the power of your thoughts.
So the stories that you tell yourself literally will become your reality.
So if you're thinking to yourself, I'm behind or I'm stuck, or nothing works for me,
or this is my life, this is just how it is, or if you constantly are being a victim of your own
story, and before you jump up me saying, well, I'm, I am a victim. Like, I go through so much
compared to the average person, you are valid exactly to how you feel. And you need to be honest and be
like, you know what? I do have it harder than someone else. Maybe you have a chronic illness. I do.
And I think, you know, oh, gosh, like my days feel like sometimes I'm carrying 15 backpacks on my
shoulder and someone has it easier than me. And while it's so easy for me to just jump into a victim
mindset being like, gosh, like so many people have it easier, I wish I could just go through
my day having it easy. I can wish that and I can dream of that all I want. But my reality right now is
that, you know, I'm uncomfortable and it is hard sometimes. My body does hurt. My joints do hurt.
But being in that victim mindset is going to do nothing but make me feel worse. Sometimes I literally
will think in my head, gosh, today's such a great day. I'm so thankful I have this.
because let's be honest, things can be worse. Things can be so much worse. Like, while I do have a chronic
illness, there's so many worse chronic illnesses out there. Are you joking me? Like, there are so many other
things where it makes me grateful that I have what I have versus something way worse. Maybe you're having a
really hard time financially. You are valid to feeling like a victim of that. You are valid to feeling like,
gosh, I work every single day, yet I can barely pay the bills. You are more than valid of you in that way.
and you should also be and like reflect into that and look at yourself and be like, wow,
I go through so much and look at how amazing it is that I always pull through and I always am
there for myself. So there is a part where you should reflect and you should acknowledge how hard
things may be for you. But at the same time, if you're constantly affirming to yourself that
I'm behind, I'm stuck, I'm broke and I'm unhappy, I'm just always behind and nothing works for
me. That's only going to make you feel pulled back further than if you were to say to
yourself, you know, this is hard, but guess what? I'm, I'm here. I'm showing up for myself.
I'm proud of myself. I'm having progress. I'm making it further in my life.
Even if your reality is the same, if you keep affirming that to yourself, it's going to put you in a
different perspective and make you work physically a different way. Negative thinking affects
confidence, motivation, opportunities, relationships. It really affects everything. And I promise
you how you reframe your thoughts and start speaking to yourself like someone you're
rooting for is going to be what changes your current reality to becoming something different for your
future. And no, of course, thinking, you can't think your ways out of things. You can't think your way
into being rich overnight or you can't think your way out of a chronic illness. But your mind is so
powerful that it can think yourself into feeling better and better things happening in your life.
It doesn't fix everything. But it can be that one thing that helps you because let's be honest,
if you're constantly thinking negative things, that's only going to pull you down.
more than having something positive in the back of your mind. How you speak to yourself is so important.
Think to yourself right now. How have you been speaking to yourself? Even let's say you eat something
that's like maybe you've been off on your diet or off on your routine or your workout routine.
If you're like, gosh, I hate my body. I hate myself or I'm so mad at myself that I eat this.
First off, you should never be mad at yourself. And that's a different story for another time and a
different lesson for another time. But think to yourself. Would you be saying that to your friend?
or to your mom or to your sister or to someone you love? No, you would not be doing that.
You'd be saying to them, it's okay. Don't worry about it. It's time will pass. It's not a big deal and you
deserved it. Also, you don't need to ever deserve food or deserve taking a break. But you would be
telling that person, it's okay and move on. Don't worry. So you don't need to be beating yourself
over up something over that. Let's say you were getting bad grades. You don't need to be beating
yourself up for getting those bad grades. You'd be telling your friend, it's okay, don't worry.
It literally doesn't matter. You can try again the next time. So be aware how you talk to yourself
and truly start talking to yourself as you would to somebody else, as cliche as it is. You would not
be talking to your friend the way you talk to yourself right now. I guarantee you. Now when it comes to
what you consume, you need to realize what you consume is programming you. Every account that you follow,
Every video you watch, every podcast, every piece of content influences your mind.
Even if you don't feel like it is, I promise you in your subconscious mind it is.
There's a difference between content that inspires you versus content that makes you compare yourself.
And creating a social media feed that reflects the person you want to become is so important
because if you're constantly watching things that bring you down or causes you to compare yourself,
you're going to be in that negative loop in that mindset.
Rather than putting and setting yourself up for success by following,
people and watching content that actually makes you feel motivated, inspired, and excited to live
your life. Now, when it comes to your environment, shaping your energy, it is so important to
realize that cluttered spaces is often what create a cluttered mind and increase just overwhelming
feelings. I kid you not, I have so much stuff. I hoard a lot because there's so many things I
just collected over the years. Something that I love is just collecting things that give me
memories and sometimes that backfires at me because I just have too much stuff that I don't need
and I used to thrift all the time so I have so many old thrift things that I did when I was younger
that I just can't get rid of but I've had to just like go and just look through everything recently
and letting go of things I no longer need or where I kid you not was such a big weight off my
chest that I didn't even know was weighing on me so I promise you cluttered spaces even in your
room or your desk, your bed or just your laundry, all those things are weighing on you way more
than you think it is. Have 15 minutes every day to straighten up. Maybe you need just a one deep
clean that you're going to spend all day deep cleaning your room or your home. And already that
is going to make you feel better. So now everything you just maintenance work from here on every 15
minute or every day for 15 minutes just put a little time to cleaning and straightening up
where it then becomes easy just to constantly pick up and use it as maintenance throughout the week.
You need to create a room and a home that feels peaceful, inspiring, and productive and calming
rather than one that's hectic or that makes you feel uncomfortable or just down to be in.
You want your home, your environment, your desk, your space to feel like a place that you can be yourself
and feel comfortable and excited to be in.
Even the smallest of upgrades such as adding fresh flowers, clean sheets, and organized closet,
cozy lighting and just less visual clutter can make you feel so much at peace. Also, if you follow me
and you see my room and how my apartment used to look, you may be thinking, okay, well, Jaden, you're one to
talk. You have a lot of things in clutter. Yes, I have a lot of things, but I feel like I curate
everything to make it actually less. Okay, it's not clutter in my eyes. To me, it's actually
things that make me happy. So you don't have to have a minimalist space. I'm someone who's a maximalist.
and if you're someone who's a maximalist too, you don't need to have a minimalist space.
All you need to know and all you need to do is just putting your items and putting things
curated specifically to your style.
So you don't need to necessarily downsize, but you need to actually make it curated to where
it makes you excited and comfortable to be in.
Now let's talk about the people around you matter so much more than you think.
The attitudes, the habits, the beliefs of all your friends eventually reverect.
off on you. I promise you, it's just like when I say five negative people, you'll become the six.
You need to ensure that the people you are around are helping you grow and not keeping you stuck
and also keeping you in a negative looped mindset non-stop. I know you can probably think of some
people or some friends where it's like every time that you see them, you just leave feeling down
or negative or just questioning things about you in your own life. And those are not the people for you.
The people that you should be around are the ones that make you feel uplifted, inspired, and
just motivated after you leave hanging out with them.
Now when it comes to habits, I guarantee you there are some unhealthy habits that we all have.
You have, your friend has, I have that are quietly holding us back.
That could be doom scrolling, gossiping, procrastination, going to sleep late, maybe because
you're like watching too much TV or on your phone and constantly complaining.
And while those things are all okay in moderation, I'm telling you if that's a routine habit,
it's going to wear you down.
These are habits that can feel harmless, but if done daily, they can just create a life that you don't even recognize later.
I always think of the quote that success is hidden in your daily routine.
I think it is so true and so important.
So while there are unhealthy habits, let's talk about habits of people who feel their best.
That's going to be, of course, we always talk about habits here, but prioritizing sleep, movement, hydration, sunshine, and routines, and also things for your soul.
There's so many things that are productive on paper, such as like working out, eating healthy,
and being productive with your work or organizing.
Yes, well, those are productive on paper.
There are things that are productive for your soul and you need for your mental health
in order to perform best in your other parts that you need to be productive in life,
such as keeping up your house.
So maybe for you that is having a movie night once a week or relaxing and having a little
dessert of the night.
And those are all things that are going to refuel your mind, body, soul.
It's so important to keep promises to yourself.
and even when you're not feeling motivated.
It truly is about building consistency through small habits rather than extreme overnight
changes.
And I said this last episode too, but that has to do with summer routines as well.
It is so hard to go from a shift overnight with a new routine.
It's so important to slowly implement things into building a new routine than trying
to change your routine all at once because if you do that, I guarantee your routine won't
stick and you'll also become really burnt out fast.
And with your environment, it is so important to pre-being.
protect your peace. And as cliche as that is, you have to protect your peace. It's learning to say no
to people, like plans that you don't have time for, environments. If you know an environment is just
not the place you want to be in. Let's say your friends are constantly asking you to go out and
drink, but you're like, you know what? It doesn't make me feel good and I don't want to.
Guess what? Don't go. If your friends always ask to go shopping, but you don't want to spend more
money, don't go because you know that environment is going to put you in a place that you don't
want to be. And it just learned to say no to situations that drain you. It's also spending less time
around negativity and unnecessary drama. So if you are around people or environments that are causing
you unnecessary stress and drama, that's only setting yourself up for stress and an unsuccessful
environment by agreeing to put yourself in that spot. It's also making sure to create boundaries
with social media, work, and other people's opinions. There's so many times where people will give
their unneeded opinion where you're like, you know what? I literally don't need your opinion right now.
Thanks, but I don't need that. There's times where some people just are not getting the clue that,
you know, one, you were struggling, you're trying to figure something out, but someone's giving their
unneeded opinion, you can either ask them that their opinion is not welcome, of course, nicely,
or you have to literally just tune it out. Tune it out. You don't have to listen to somebody.
You don't have to listen to the opinion of others. Listen to what you want. People don't have to
understand or trust the process, the only person you need to be trusting the process of is yourself.
That is seriously the only person opinion that you need. And when it comes to setting yourself up for
success, it's making good habits easier and bad habits harder. So for instance, that is, like I
kind of said, a second ago. If you're trying to spend less money and spending money is a bad
habit of yours, you're not going to put yourself in the environment of going to the mall.
when you already don't need to be going.
There's nothing you need to be going for.
If you go there, you know you're going to spend money.
So it's making those bad habits harder where you're not going to go drive to the mall.
You're going to stay at home.
So it makes it easier to not fall into that bad habit.
It's making good habits easier where, let's say you want to go to the gym.
It's laying out your clothes the night before you go to the gym.
And that makes it easier to go to the gym because you're making that good habit easy
by preparing for yourself and setting yourself up for success.
Another thing is using your environment as a tool so that's making your water bottle visible, laying out your gym clothes the night before, having a book that you want to start reading by your bedside table or meal prepping if that's something that you want to do.
It's all about building routines that support your goals instead of relying on them for motivation.
Becoming the person you want to be is acting like your future self before you even feel like her.
Sometimes you don't even know what you want your summer to look like or your life to look like.
It literally can be you sitting with yourself, asking yourself, and if you're not.
you really don't know or have that motivation or ideas, scroll on Pinterest, go on the app without
the loud noise. And you can see inspo and visual inspiration that makes you excited and motivated to
live your life. It's also choosing thoughts, habits, and environments that align with your goals,
not against your goals. So that's setting yourself up for success, rather than setting yourself up
for an unhealthy habit. And that's also remembering that transformation is usually the result
of small daily choices that you make and small healthy habits that you implement.
implement into your routine. So I want you to remember that your thoughts are shaping you,
your habits are shaping you, your environment and relationships are shaping you, and change what
surrounds you and you'll begin changing your life. I love you so much. I hope you enjoyed this
episode as much as I did recording it. I feel so motivated now to weed out anything that is just
pulling me down and not meant for me in my routine because again, all those negative things
that are in your life or your routine are shaping you. So you want to just surround yourself
with the things that you know are meant for you. If you enjoyed this episode, make sure to leave a
podcast review over Apple Podcasts and leave a rating over Spotify. Also, make sure to share over
your Instagram and TikTok and tag me so I can repost. Also, if you're listening to over Spotify,
make sure to leave a comment in the comment section. I always love talking to you guys in the
comment section. I hope you enjoyed today's episode. Remember, you don't need a completely different life.
You may just need a better environment to thrive in. And do not forget to stay busy yet pretty.
M-a-a-a-ha.
