Hello, my dolls. Welcome back to the Busy Yet Pretty podcast. I'm your host, Jaden Haley. I hope you all have been doing lovely as always and been having a busy yet pretty week.
I feel like this episode is just perfect because it just fits the time it is right now, which is going back to school and going back to work or maybe starting a new job or even just getting back on routine.
So this can really apply to anyone.
I'm just so excited to talk to you guys today.
But first I want to say,
guys, we are number 12 on Spotify's education charts.
That feels absolutely unreal.
I want to thank you guys more than anything for leaving a review over Spotify.
Every single time you guys leave a five star, it boosts up the podcast and will allow other
girls to find this podcast and live the life that they desire.
So go right now and leave five stars and then let's continue with today's episode.
So guys, getting into our weekly review.
So this week, I have just been going to brunch quite a bit with the dolls.
I am just obsessed with a little brunch lately.
I love trying to brunch spots.
Of course, I'm a dinner girl.
But just lately, I have just been loving going to brunch.
Love seeing friends, love catching up, and I just happened to having a fun time.
This week, I got to see my Billboard Go Live on Sunset Boulevard, which is absolutely unreal.
I literally got to stand in front of it and see the podcast billboard.
So it was so cool getting to see all the cars driving past and looking up at the billboard saying,
Busy yet pretty, so that is absolutely unreal.
and I posted a photo over my Instagram if you guys want to go check that out.
But it was seriously so surreal and I'm just so thankful for you guys.
So as I should say, cheers to a busy yet pretty week.
Okay, I also went to the Summer Fridays event with my friend Stephanie.
Her and I went to collaborate at the Santa Monica Proper Hotel, which was so beautiful.
We got to go to their sheer skin tint launch.
I have been using the sheer skin tint every single day. It's so nice. It's like a light foundation feeling and it gives a nice little blur to any little blemishes and it really just makes my skin glow. So I have just been loving that product so much. Later that night I went to the Hanson and Gretel event at the peppermint Club also, which was so nice, got to see lots of the dolls and had such a fun time dancing around and seeing lovely
people. So that was so lovely as well. That has been my busy yet pretty week. Very exciting things
for the podcast this week. Being number 12 in Spotify's education charts as well as the billboard.
Are you kidding me? Oh my gosh. I am just so happy. I can't get over it. So thank you dolls so so much.
Okay, so moving on to my current obsessions. My current obsession is buffalo cauliflower. I am
such a buffalo sauce gal. Literally love it as well as cauliflower. But the mix, oh my gosh,
perfect duo, absolutely divine. By far my favorite buffalo cauliflower is from San Vicente
Bungalows, but I'm not going to lie, the one from Erwan is very, very good as well. I just had the
buffalo cauliflower from Erwan the other day, and it's so good when you ask for extra buffalo
sauce on the side because it really just gives that nice tangy spice. So definitely do that if you get it
from Airwan. Just I feel like the one from San Vicente has the most perfect crisp crunch to them,
but I am just obsessed with it. And I have just been scouting out every single place that carries
buffalo cauliflower. Okay guys, another crint obsession is the summer Friday's lip balm. I am just obsessed
with the Summer Fridays lip balm. I feel like it just really moisturized and hydrates my lips so nicely
and it just has such a pretty shade to it. So I've been loving that. Another current obsession is
ginger. I feel like I've had so much things that carry ginger in it, especially drinks, and I have just
been loving the taste of ginger. It gives such a nice little spice to food but also tastes really fresh.
I love a little Optimus Fresh ginger drink. Oh my gosh, so, so good. Okay, next step is Super Goop. I have been loving Supergoop's glow sunscreen on my hands. I use the Supergoop regular sunscreen on my face, but I feel like applying it to my hands is so, so nice because the glow sunscreen gives a nice little shimmer and has some glitter in it. So I think it just is so pretty to wear out in the day. And I think it just is so pretty. And I think it's just is so pretty. And I think it's,
carry it in my purse, so that has been a favorite. Okay, my goal of the week. I have not worked out
for almost two months now, and I feel like it made me miss working out because I really do love a little
fun Pilates session so, so much. But honestly, it really was stressing me out with all the work I've
been having lately. It just was not aligning with my schedule. And working out should not feel like a chore,
but it should feel something exciting to do.
And if your schedule is too packed at the moment, it's good to take a break from working out.
These past two months, I have been working so much in having so many amazing opportunities
that working out just was not fitting into my schedule.
So I definitely want to free up some time and work out again soon because I truly miss it.
It's been nice to have a little break because I have just been working so much.
and if it's not aligning with your schedule, then don't try to fit it in as a chore.
Another goal of the week is to enjoy my weekends.
I feel like I've been really good at doing this lately, but to not schedule work and just put away work on the weekends.
As someone who is self-employed and I would say does freelance, I tend to want to work on the weekends
because I don't have someone telling me a set schedule of hours of when I need to work.
So it's easy to fall into, oh, let me do a few emails right now.
Let me do a few work-related things right now.
So it's easy to get into that mindset, but it's really good to use the weekend to recharge for the week ahead.
So definitely enjoying my weekends and just having time for myself, self-care, meeting up with friends, is really nice and to recharge.
Okay, another goal of the week is to take a morning swim.
It's starting to get a little cooler right now.
And I don't want the hot summer weather to slip away too fast,
so I want to try to take a little swim in the pool in the morning soon.
I feel like that just would be nice.
Lastly, as a goal of the week, I definitely want to cook some buffalo cauliflower.
I need to find a really nice, crispy buffalo cauliflower recipe.
and once I do, of course, I'll be sharing it with you dolls so, so soon.
But it just seriously is my favorite right now, and I need to start making it myself.
Okay, a self-of-question to ask yourself.
When was the last time I felt most in my element?
What was I doing?
I love that question so much because it really helps you think,
what is the most time that you feel in your element and how can you implement that more into your life?
It's so good to be aware of those things, and I think,
it's really good to pause this episode and journal that question. Okay guys, an Apple podcast
review. Someone said, I truly adore this podcast. I just finished listening to the episode,
improve your relationship and mindset towards money, and it made me rethink everything,
and it truly inspired me to have a more positive approach towards money, spending on myself,
and more. I deeply appreciate your dedication to these episodes. Thank you so much on helping
my journey to being the best version of myself. That Apple podcast review meant so, so much to me
that was so sweet. It truly makes me so happy to hear you guys feel that busy at pretty has
impacted your life in a positive way. My intentions on this podcast is to help others find their
journey to happiness and self-love and finding the best version of themselves. So that truly
just made me so happy and I'm so glad to hear that my doll. If you would like to be featured on
next week's episode, go feel free to leave a review over Apple Podcasts.
Now, a quote from my five-minute journal, if you weren't ready, you wouldn't have the
opportunity. I think that is so important to think about because sometimes we are approached
with opportunities that feel so good to be true, where we may be nervous or feel like we're not
ready, but honestly, you would not be given this opportunity if you weren't ready. So try to build up
that confidence to take on that opportunity that is given to you.
Okay, lastly, is a daily affirmation. I attract amazing opportunities wherever I go. I think that is such a good affirmation. I actually affirm that almost every single day in my five-minute journal. So that one is just one of my favorites. Okay, guys, it's time to now get into today's episode. So today I really want to talk about just shifting and wrapping up this summer, which was amazing, and now shifting back into routine.
for school, work, or any routine in general. It's very normal to have a very non-structured routine
during summer and it's going with the flow, having a very sporadic plans, which is great,
but sometimes it can be hard transitioning back into routine, school, and work. So I thought there was no
better time than now to talk about getting back on routine, going back to school, work, and all of that.
So like I said, most people do not have a structured routine during summer and sometimes it's hard to get back in the swing of things.
So whether you're going back to school, working again, or even not going back to school or work, but just getting back on routine and shifting back into good habits, this is really good to get back on that structured schedule.
So I am not in school, but I am working all the time.
I work all days of the week except for Saturday and Sunday.
I do like to try to have those as my off days.
So I would say five to six days a week I'll work and I'm working from morning till night.
So I have a really easy flexible schedule, but I still am working all the time.
And I also think it's really good to be getting really back onto my structured scheduled
routine being summertime is kind of over.
I know you dolls are sick of hearing, but the best advice I have to give is really shifting your mindset.
It all starts with your mindset and that will turn into your.
into action. And of course, when starting school or work, you are probably not going to be thrilled
and wish it was summer again, which is very normal. But think in the long run. Imagine yourself a
year from now, where you would be at after you completed this one year of school or one year of work.
Completing one year of school is one year closer to graduating. And one year of work is one year
more of experience and pay. So go into this new school year, work, or just forming a structured schedule,
not planning to take the easy way out or shortcuts. It's really easy to want to take the easy way out,
but if you put your all into this, I promise it will be so worth it in the end and you will see those
results. You can either have one year of accomplishing many tasks in your goals or one year of
procrastination and it's all in your hands. So I thought I'd go into some school-related topics that are
really good for getting back into school and I will also touch on work and just getting back to routine.
So going into back to school related topic, I really think it's good to buy new supplies that
excite you. So invest in some new supplies, some new folders, some new folders, pencils that
are cute colors or cute designs that make you excited to want to use them when you're at school.
I think it's always so nice to look forward to something exciting that you have like supplies
at school because it makes you want to use them and it also gives some positive outlook on school.
Be organized. Get a planner. I promise you having a planner will save so much time and just allow you to be
so much less stressed and being organized overall, just putting things away. Having an organized
structured schedule of time management and not procrastinating will help so much. And getting into time
management is so important because that is going to help you have a more structured schedule,
which will actually allow you to save more time and have more free time for yourself.
So really don't procrastinate when you schedule that time into being your time to work on work,
work on work and don't do anything else.
And if you do that, you have that entire full time to enjoy your own things.
So really practice time management and also incorporate time management to your planner.
and so you can time block when you're going to study for this test, when you're going to do your
homework, and when you're going to have your own hobbies and free time.
Another thing I think is super important is to not be over-obsessed.
I think it's really important to not be over-obsessed with school and getting straight A's
because it's really good to have the want and to put in that time and effort, but don't let it
affect your free time.
It's so good to have a balance, which is really good why the 80-20 rule is so important, especially in school, where you have your 80% of the time working hard in school and 20% of your time, you are enjoying your free time in life.
It's not good to have 100% of just school or 100% of just free time.
So really schedule that free time, and I think it's super good to listen to one of my past episodes on the 80-20 rule if you need help, type management,
and having a better balance.
When I was in high school and just school throughout life,
I feel like I had the same feelings that many people do
of every day is repeating and it's just an endless cycle.
It's really important to switch up your routine
and to incorporate new things into your life
because that will prevent it from feeling like burnout
and also having more excitement to your day.
Bring a new food to your lunch, make new friends.
All those things will help,
everything feel not like a repeating hard day, but rather than switching things up and you may
actually find something you really enjoy by doing that. Okay, another thing I really recommend is
wardrobe. It's super good to have wardrobe that makes you feel really confident when you go to
school. It's not good to be insecure in what you're wearing. You should be loving what you look like,
what you wear. Of course, you don't have to be like, oh my gosh, I'm the most stunning person
on the world. I love if you think that way. But it's a lot. But it's a lot of you think that way.
It's really good to also just feel confident overall in what you're wearing.
So if you are not feeling confident in the clothes you're wearing to school, it's time to get a new wardrobe.
Find things that make you excited to wear to school and make you look forward to the day.
And not wearing things that make you feel insecure or not secure in.
Go thrifting.
Find some new exciting pieces or go shopping at your favorite stores.
All those things will help you feel more confident at school.
and I feel like that just is one of the really important things when going back to school that not many people talk about, but having a new wardrobe that makes you feel confident can really impact your day at school.
Another thing that I really recommend is come prepared, study for a test, complete your homework, come prepared and practice your presentation the night before.
All of those ways will really help you feel more confident in school and I promise you all that time will pay off.
I received many questions on going back to school, but I want to answer a few that were my favorite, so let's get into those.
Someone asked, how do I deal with judgmental people? First of all, who are they to judge? Why are they not worried that you should be judging them?
And that was not me saying to judge people at all. Be open-minded, be loving to everyone, be a very positive person and uplift others.
So don't judge. But I'm saying is, why are they making you feel like you should be worried of them
judging you. At the end of the day, it's you, and you should be doing what makes you happy,
not them. This is not their life. It's your life. Let me just say you don't have to see anyone
after you graduate. This is literally how I approached high school, so I did not have a great
high school experience and didn't have many friends. And under like 100 people were in my entire
high school, so it was a very small school. But let me just say, the moment I stepped foot in the car
and leaving the school, I unfollowed everyone because those people did not serve me.
Those people did not uplift me.
They did not make me happy.
And they were honestly rude.
So I did not care to keep them my life after high school.
And I literally unfollowed them in the parking lot of my school.
So if people are not serving you positively and judging you for what you like, then don't associate
yourself with them.
And another thing to think about is if they can like something, why can't you?
It's your life.
and everyone should be uplifting others for what they love and not bringing others down.
And just know after school and you graduate, you never have to see them again.
Another question is, how do you manage schoolwork while having a positive mental state?
Back when I had my eating disorder, I had a really awful mental state and I was also in high school
at the time and I could barely do my work. And that was from being so malnourished.
So I really think it's so important to not miss breakfast. I know a lot of
people miss breakfast on the way to school. And if you're in a rush, just grab a protein bar,
something to fuel your mind and start your day right because I promise you, nutrition is linked to
your brain. And if you are not fueling yourself with the proper nutrition, it will affect the way
that you focus in school. It's so important to be nourished because the brain is so impacted by that.
Another thing I would say, it's complete one thing at a time. It's really easy to be overwhelmed by a lot of
work, especially if you're doing 100 different things at once. So plan each time in your planner
of when you're going to work on that subject and work out one thing at a time rather than
multiple different subjects at once or that's really going to overwhelm you. Another thing I would
say is don't forget about your hobbies and interest. Even if you don't do your hobbies and
interest on the weekdays, schedule time to do those on the weekends because it's so important
for your mental state. Another really important thing is your five-minute journal. Get a five-minute
journal, I promise you that will impact your day so, so much. I have a five-minute journal. It's
linked in my Amazon storefront in the show notes below, what the five-minute journal is so important
to have. What I love about it is you can start your day off on a positive note with writing down
what you're grateful for, what would make today good, and a daily affirmation. And then when you get
home, you write down the highlights of your day and what you also learn today. So just that little
thing can start your day on a positive note and on a positive mindset. So really try to get the
five-minute journal if you can. If you can't then get the same journal prompts and journal them
in your own journal. Okay, someone else asked how to be organized in school. So I would say buy
pouches, folders, and things for supplies that have a space for everything because that's
going to help you avoid losing things and just know where everything is. That really has helped
me where I bought literally a pencil pouch, a pen pouch, an area for homework in folders. There was
an area for everything which really helped me stay organized. Another thing I really recommend
is 10 minutes every day, clean your room or your desk, wherever you do your homework at home.
I really recommend that you clean that space before bed because the next day it will be available
for you to work in the morning. Lastly, like I always say, buy a planner. This will solve so many
problems of yours, I promise you. I have my favorite planner linked over my modem and it's seriously
the best. So invest in a really good planner and I promise you that is so important to have.
Someone else asked, how do I relieve stress and enjoy free time during exams? I know it's so normal
to be stressed out during exam time. But one of my best pieces of advice, but is to schedule when
you plan to study. So when you schedule that time, don't go on your phone, don't be distracted,
study in that time frame. And then once you complete that time of studying, okay, you're done.
And now move on to things that you enjoy. Because you dedicated that time, you accomplished it,
and now it's time for your free time. So reward yourself with that free time. Once you complete that
dedicated time to studying. If you're the type of person who really stresses about your grades,
I want you to realize it's not the end of the world if you don't get all straight days.
I was not the smartest person in all the classes. I mean, I would say I'm pretty smart,
but I still wasn't the smartest. I didn't leave with the highest GPA. But you know what?
I'm number 12 in Spotify's education charts, so I'm clearly doing something right.
but I'm saying it's really okay if you don't get all straight A's or if you're not the smartest
student in the class and I promise you you don't need all straight A's to get your dream job.
Someone else asked, how can I romanticize this school year?
I think it's so good that you have the mindset of wanting to romanticize the school year
because it will really help you have a better and easier time.
It all starts with your mindset and I know I'm always going to say this but it really does.
the positives throughout the school year. Even if things feel negative, find something positive
every day in school. Or you know what? Bring your favorite coffee to school. Sit with people
that you enjoy being around. Make new friends. Take classes that you enjoy. Start a fashion club at
school. I started a fashion club when I was in school and it brought people who love fashion
together. So do things that will make you excited for school and that's a really good way to
romanticize your school year. But remember,
It all starts with your mindset.
Someone else asked, how do I keep up with my fitness goals when I'm back at school and have
tons of work to do?
Like I said, kind of the same situation, which I am in right now, where I've been so busy
that I have had to take off working out for almost two months.
But like I said, time management is what's going to help you do this.
You need to really schedule when you're going to do school, practice homework, study for test,
and when you're going to have that free time.
And if you don't procrastinate any of the work you're supposed to get done,
you will have that free time to achieve your fitness goals.
So really try to plan and practice the 80-20 rule.
Someone else asked, how do I manage content creating while being in school?
Okay, this is something that I feel like not a lot of people talk about
because a lot of people love to do day in their lives
but don't actually show them in school,
but a lot of people enjoy day in their lives at school.
So try to even film a day in your life at school. I promise you it's relatable. People love relatable
content and that will really help you. And again, like I said, time management. So if you want to make some other
content, not just day in your life at school, then schedule when you're going to work on your schoolwork
and then when you're going to have that free time. And in that free time, you can make that content.
Someone else asked, how do I avoid burnout? Burnout is so linked to working on a million things at once.
I think one of the most important things, like I said, is just to switch up your routine and find difference that will help you be more excited.
So, like I said, bringing coffee to school, finding new friends, all of that will help avoid burnout and not feel like a repeating hard day.
Someone said, how do I get over social anxiety and talking to new people?
Something that really shifted my mindset because I used to have really bad social anxiety from my experiences in middle school, going into high school.
school. So something that I really felt was important is thinking how when I meet someone and am
trying to be social and meet new friends, what I would do is I would think of how this person I'm
talking to doesn't know how I truly feel inside unless I just show it. If I portray myself being
insecure and nervous, then they'll know I'm insecure and nervous. So I would act as if I'm confident
and it made people think that I was confident. I have no social anxiety now, but I did in the early
parts of high school because of the hard middle school experiences I had. And I definitely think that I want to
talk about my school-related experiences in the future and how I got over it for others who may be in the
same positions. But I definitely feel, think about how if you act confident, others will think you're
confident. Someone said, how do I maximize my time in the day? Definitely time management. Get a planner,
time block when you're going to do every single thing and every task, and that will save so much time
rather than feeling overwhelmed, working on a ton of things, and not getting things done.
So I really think time management, time block, and your planner will help maximize your day so much.
Someone asked, what are some tips on making new friends since them changing schools?
Join clubs that perk your interest because you will find people who have the same interest in you,
and be honest and be proud of what you like because I promise you there's most likely someone out there
who likes the same interests as you as well and you will meet people who like the same things as you
if you're honest about what you like. So talk about your favorite sport. Talk about what style that you
love. Talk about those things and you will attract the right friend group or friends who enjoy the
same things as you also. Going on to the topic of work, number one is find a job that you actually enjoy
and this doesn't need to be your dream job yet, but I'm saying find a job that you actually enjoy.
Let's say you're in school but need to still pick up a few hours at some job, try different jobs out.
If you end up working at Starbucks and absolutely hate it, then try working at Trader Joe's.
If you try working at Trader Joe's and absolutely hate it, maybe work at a clothing store.
Try around and honestly, that can help you even figure out what career you're wanting to go into.
Let's say you're working a more serious, quote, big girl job.
Make sure to prioritize self-care outside of your work life.
It's so important to incorporate hobbies, self-care, things that serve you, right?
So it really helps you energize yourself for that job.
Don't be fully wrapped up to it.
Like I said, the 80-20 rule, 80% of your time, you're putting your hard work into working hard and advancing yourself.
And the other 20% doing things that recharge you and make you feel good.
because that 20% will help the 80% feel so much better.
Another thing is, don't look at your weekend as an escape from work.
That causes you to create and view your job negatively,
rather than looking at the weekend as a way to recharge for the next week.
Recharge yourself.
That will help you view work so much more positively.
If you have an option to alter your hours of when you work and set your own schedule,
make sure to align the best work hour times for you, where you can still prioritize time for yourself
when you're not working. So if you like to prioritize your morning routine, then schedule your
hours to be in the afternoon working. If you like to have a really nice time out on the town
at night, then schedule work hours in the morning. Another thing that I think is so important is to
have boundaries. It's very easy to be a quote, yes gal and to do favors for others.
or to even fulfill a manager or co-worker's request.
But if that person's request is interfering with your preferences,
then you need to be honest and have boundaries and say,
I'm sorry, I can't work these hours,
because it's only going to backfire on you in the future
if you are doing things that you don't like and that don't serve you.
Of course, if someone asks you to do something that relates to your job,
then definitely do it.
But if someone is asking you, can you pick up these hours for,
me, I have somewhere I have to go, but you know that you also have somewhere to be, then you can't
just say yes and cancel your plans. You have to have boundaries. So really have boundaries, be honest.
Also, having boundaries is not going to make you lose your job. It's really going to actually
show yourself as confident. Someone asked me, how can I set aside time for myself instead of
falling into the trap of working 24-7, even if I love my job? I feel very similar feelings right now
because I love my job so much and it's so easy to want to work all the time.
But I realize when I actually force myself to take that time to just stop working on my work
and just have this time for self-care and for myself, it actually allows myself to do better in work.
Like I said, recharging is so important, even if it feels like you don't need it necessarily.
I promise it will help further yourself so much better for the week.
I thought this episode is so necessary to talk about because the school year and job starting
can be hard, but it's really good to realize this is all in your hands and in your mindset on
how you view your work or your job or just getting back on routine. I hope this all helped
a bit. And please let me know your thoughts on this episode as well. I always love seeing your
