love welcome back to the busy yet pretty podcast i'm your host jaden haley i feel like we are all kind of in a slump right now
and i sure am and i asked you guys over the broadcast channel how you guys are feeling and almost 99% of you
said you feel like you're in a slump and very unmotivated so i was thinking there is no better time to press the
restart button than now a lot of you guys are probably hearing about the winter arc challenge trend so this
episode will definitely get into that but if you haven't heard of it i'm going to explain about that in the
episode but without further ado let's get into our weekly review this week i had my doctor appointment
and there was no cancer in my left breast that i thought could be this is your sign to go get an
annual checkup and always make sure you're going to all your exams because it's super important but
the little lump that i felt was totally okay and thank you guys so much for all your sweet messages
trying to calm my nerves about this so you guys are just so appreciated.
Another thing this week is I have just been having brunch with mom.
There is nothing better than just having brunch with your parents and it just feels so nice
and peaceful and it just gives you that quality of life.
I know it sounds dramatic but I really do love brunch with my parents.
Now lastly this week is I have been kind of planning ahead for Christmas trying to kind of think
of what I want to do regarding Christmas shopping.
and what gifts I'm giving because I don't like to stress last minute and I like to be planning ahead.
So I feel like right now is the perfect time to do so.
Now moving on to the current obsessions.
My current obsession at the moment is the Menendez case.
I am just awaiting November 29 to see if they get released.
There was a show about it and then that one had some misinformation though.
And then there was the documentary about it spoken by the actual brothers and that was super interesting.
and I live only a few minutes away from the house,
so it's kind of crazy to see all the places in the documentary
that is right outside of my place.
But another crowd session at the moment is Pinterest scrolling.
Truly just scrolling on Pinterest is the definition of free therapy.
My last cramp session at the moment is 90s films.
I love just getting cozy on the couch during the fall
and having my macha and my little desserts and watching a fall movie.
Now to the goal of the week.
My goal of the week right now is to bake some gluten-free cinnamon rolls.
I am a cinnamon roll girl, so I really want to try baking some gluten-free ones.
Another goal of the week right now is to let go of things that I don't need.
It is very easy to just hold on to everything, and trust me, I am a hoarder, so I am very guilty of it.
But during the end of the year, it is great to be mindful of what you have, and start letting go of things you don't need, so when the new year rolls around, you have a space for those new things.
Now my last goal of the week is to meditate more.
Whether it's a morning meditation, an afternoon, or an evening meditation,
I really want to start having that a part of my daily routine.
Now into the affirmation.
I trust the universe and this is all a part of the journey.
I love that affirmation so much because sometimes when we get a bump in the road,
it can feel very discouraging and whenever we're in a slump,
it feels like we're going to be in our slump forever.
So I just love that affirmation so much.
Now on to your self-love question.
What is your favorite thing about yourself when you look in the mirror?
I love that question so much and I really recommend asking yourself that.
Now for your challenge of the week.
Bake a fall item with a loved one or a friend and allow yourself to be fully present.
I love this challenge because baking is a great way to be hands-on with activity away from your phone
and allowing you to be fully present.
And there's no better way to do that than doing it with a loved one.
Now moving on to the podcast review.
If you want to be featured in next week's episode, make sure you leave a podcast review over Apple Podcasts and rate over Spotify.
This review is from Bridget, and Bridget said, honestly an amazing podcast.
I think you really capture the essence of pretty woman.
Listening to you has really inspired me as a girl to uplift myself, be better, and to feel more confident.
By the journey with you from your post to podcast, you really put efforts in and do an amazing job of sharing that good energy to others.
Thank you so much, Bridget, for your sweet, kind review.
and that really just makes my day.
I truly just love reading all the reviews,
and when you guys share over TikTok and Instagram,
I always reposts.
It just truly brings such a light in my life.
So as always, I give all my gratitude to you guys.
Now without further ado, let's start talking about today's episode.
So like I said, we have all been in a little slump,
and we have just been kind of, you know, maybe off of routine.
we set these big goals in the beginning of the year and then when it gets to the end of the year, we are just over it and we are ready to just have the new year start again.
So we have a fresh start and we just can hit the reset button.
But if you think about this, why wait until January 1st to start and make progress?
These colder months that you usually reserve for doing nothing, use your time wisely and do something that actually is going to move you in a positive direction.
rather than just awaiting January 1st to start fresh.
You can start fresh at any time, no matter the circumstances.
So it's officially time you hit the reset button, start fresh, enter your winter arc,
and how you can get out of a slump and finish the year off strong.
If you don't know what the winter arc is, I honestly did not know what it was until a few days ago,
but it's a 90 day challenge starting October 1st to the end of the year,
being all the colder, slower months, and instead of just hibernating, this would be your
time to dial in, work hard, and make progress in those slower months. Personally, for my winter
arc, I'm putting a little twist to it and not specifically doing the 90-day challenge, where
every day I have a set routine or workout that I have to hit, but rather setting myself more
structured schedules than having small requirements to hit throughout the days, but still allowing
that flexibility for the colder months just because I do think it's important to embrace slowness
in the season.
But you hitting the reset button right now and not waiting to January 1st is going to be so beneficial to you.
Because you're going to have three months of progress that you weren't going to have if you had just planned to hibernate in all the winter months.
So it's time you set some healthy habits and recognize that what you've been doing that is not serving you.
Entering your winter arc is you having your reset now during these typical months of hibernation.
But again, don't be hard on yourself.
this is all about becoming the best version of you, not running yourself to the ground and having no energy or happiness.
So don't get me wrong, embrace those slow months and embrace hibernation, but embrace it to a point and don't let it be your entire fall and winter, sitting inside under the blanket in bed all day.
It's time you become and feel a better version of you and not wait until the new year to start.
So enough going off on a tangent, I think you understand now.
but let's begin talking about the first way you can start your reset and moving in a positive direction.
Being mindful of consumption.
It is so easy to just sit and endlessly scroll and become obsessed with certain media or obsessed with a certain show.
Or honestly just become obsessed with scrolling.
Trust me, I am so guilty of it and we all are.
It's all temporary happiness and it's good to get those little spurts in and scroll on TikTok and scroll on.
things but there's a point where you have to put a halt to it and remind yourself that this is
only giving you temporary happiness and is not serving you for your longevity so as funny as this may
sound you have to connect and ground with yourself again you have to remember what real life is
and not just what this artificial blue light is you're looking at sometimes grounding with
yourself and remembering the point of life maybe you literally just going outside and touching
grass or going outside and just breathing the fresh crisp air or it could be you picking up a pen and
paper and start drawing when you are so tied and addicted to your phone anything is better than that and
you just need a detach from it you have to cut the the little umbilical cord and set yourself free from
this obsession of just scrolling and the best way to start doing that is have an unfollowing spree you need to
follow and consume only things that are going to benefit you and put you in a positive mindset.
So unfollow people who you don't actually care about looking at their stuff, and follow people
that who you just follow because you want their body, or unfollow people that leave you feeling
down. And not only that, have a detox on your phone and apps. So start deleting all the
apps you don't need, delete photos that you don't need, and just have a nice entire phone detox.
Now when having this reset, I want you to remember not to go all in,
or full force because when you go in with the all or nothing mindset, your progress is going to
only last so long because you're going to want to quit. It's going to become too draining, too
mentally exhausting, and you're going to be unhappy. So the best thing to when hitting the reset
button and starting fresh is go in with a positive mindset and realizing that consistency is better
than perfection. Remember, this is not a race. Our goal is progress and progress comes from consistency.
It's very important that you prioritize your personal growth with this winter arc seasons
because of course career growth is great.
But you have to remember that your career is not your life and it's not you.
Your career does not define you.
You were not born to just think about school and work 24-7.
So it's time you invest in yourself and use this season to prioritize personal growth.
I can't be the only one who has this like dream item of theirs that they always see.
whether it's a bag, a sweater, a top, and you're like, I just need that, but it's like sold out everywhere.
That's me with this one vintage Duny and brick bag. I literally was looking everywhere for it and I somehow
found one on a poshmark. But not just one, I found multiple of them at such a good price and I was like,
wait, this is just too good to be true. So if you know me, you know I am a poshmark girl.
Poshmark is a marketplace where you can list and sell, as well as buy new items, vintage pieces,
gently used, luxury pieces, they really just have it all. And I feel like there's no better time
to go on Poshmark now. Everyone's cleaning out their closet and listing good things. Get in bed,
get cozy, and go in Pashmark to add to your new spring wardrobe. New deals and sales are listed
every day, so don't wait. Download the Poshmark app and use code Bizzy when you sign up to get $10 off
your first purchase or shop now at Poshmark.com slash busy and get $10 off your first purchase. That's P-O-S-H-M-A-R-K-com

a sweater, a top and you're like, I just need that, but it's like sold out everywhere. That's me with

If you're someone who has a little harder time with getting motivated and staying consistent,
go reach out to one of your friends or reach out to someone who maybe would want to do this
challenge with you, or not even a challenge, but just get this motivated mindset with you
because that's going to help you guys motivate each other and support each other. And most
importantly, when you're doing it with someone, it's going to help you be held accountable.
Okay, this one is a classic, but I want to be clear on this. You need to prioritize your routines.
You need to drop your unhealthy habits that you have that could be staying up late on your phone
or waking up late by snoozing your alarm a million times or putting self-care last. Those are
all unhealthy habits that you need to let go of. When people say, I don't have time. Yes, I understand
you may have a really busy schedule, but I can guarantee you there is a fraction of that time
that is being used by doing something that whether you're procrastinating, actually doing the work
and going on your phone or doing something that doesn't really matter you don't really care about,
but you're just trying to fill your time. So do you, it feels like you're really busy.
So you need to remember that you need to use your time wisely. Keep your future self in mind.
So use your time wisely with actions that your future self is going to thank you for.
If you're maybe not really sure of what your unhealthy habits are or healthy habits that you have are or currently look like in your life, get a sheet of paper, draw a line down the middle and have one side be unhealthy habits and one side be healthy habits.
Sit down with your matcha and have this list in front of you and do not touch your phone and dial in and categorize on one side unhealthy habits that you currently have that you're going to drop and unhealthy habits that do not serve you whatsoever.
and on the other side, categorize habits that are healthy and positive to you that you currently
have that you're going to continue and habits that you want to incorporate into your life moving
forward. That's going to allow you to see what habits you should leave in the past and which ones
you should adapt moving forward. When it comes to personal growth, something that is so important
you do is maximize your skills and hobbies. We get so caught up on school and work and stress,
And we forget about random activities and skills that we have that we would thrive in doing or that we enjoy.
For you that may be gardening or playing dress up, playing chess or organizing, building things, or crafting, whatever it is that could be in the back of your mind that you used to enjoy when you were younger or skills that you have now that you just haven't been able to maximize.
I want you to schedule out time every day to touch base with those interests, even if it's a five to ten minutes.
That is better than nothing.
Another thing that you need to incorporate when having this reset is get fresh air every day.
Preferably in the morning, walk outside, get some crisp fresh air,
maybe sit outside with your coffee or do some yoga or journal outside,
or even go on a little color walk.
But prioritize getting fresh air throughout the day.
Okay, you may dread to hear this, but you have to get yourself some movement throughout the day.
I understand working out is hard, and getting up and starting it is hard.
Trust me, this week, or this past two weeks, I've had such a hard time getting back into my workout routine since I've been off schedule.
But I promise you, once you take that first step, the first step is just getting started.
That's the hardest step.
But once you start, you've overcome the hardest step.
It's hard to get started, but your future self is going to thank you.
Even 10 to 15 minutes a day is better than nothing at all.
And remember, there's many different forms of working out.
That could be walking, going on a run.
that can be doing jumping jacks, an ab workout, lifting. Whatever you enjoy doing the most is a perfect
workout and you can always try new things in the future. Make your workouts enjoyable. Lay out your clothes
the night before. Put a cute pink bow in your hair for your workout and get your cute cucumber water.
Do things to make you feel excited to work out. Now for your reset moving forward, it is time for you
to start experiencing in life. Experience and get out of your
comfort zone. And most importantly, be uncomfortable. When you're comfortable, you're not growing.
Every time you push yourself to do something uncomfortable, it's so much easier the next time.
This could be you having a solo date or raising your hand in class or complimenting a stranger,
or even wearing a more outgoing outfit. Nobody knows when you feel uncomfortable only when you
portray it to somebody else. So the next time you're uncomfortable, only you knows. It's time for you
to get a planner or Google Calendar and start managing your time better.
Time management will save you and allow you to achieve more by doing less.
Another thing with starting fresh is you need to learn how to be okay with bumps in the road.
And you need to learn how to cope with any setbacks.
Listen, you're not going to make it to the gym every day.
You're not going to achieve everything on your to do list every day.
And some days you're going to have extra homework or things to do.
You're going to have setbacks.
but gather tools and know how to move forward and push through when that happens.
And again, this is personally what would work best for you so for you that could be meditating
or light a candle, get your matcha and sit down and dial it and take one step at a time.
Like I said, in the very beginning of the year, we have our goals and we know what we want,
but it is so important that you don't wait until January 1st and start now and rewrite your goals.
The goals we had in the beginning of the year maybe are different.
than what our goals are now.
And remember, don't write too many goals down.
Don't make them too far off or out of the ballpark.
I am someone who says, shoot for your goals,
no matter how big they may be,
and I do believe that.
But you have to do them in increments.
You have to make them small and bite size
so you can get past each one and move to the next.
Because sometimes when we just have all these big goals written down,
it's way too overwhelming,
and we end up just not starting at all.
So write down your priority goals
and break each down and start fresh from there.
Another important thing you need to start doing is start managing your money.
I understand that this day and age can be very hard to increase your income while paying for rent
and supporting your livelihood, but it's very important that you reflect on your past
spendings and moving forward, ask yourself, is this item I'm purchasing really something I need?
Or do I really just like the action of buying things?
Don't get me wrong, I am someone who says money comes back.
but time doesn't, so use your money.
But sometimes we buy useless things that we don't need
and all that money could have added up
where you could have saved that money,
put it in your savings,
and put that money towards something more bigger and better
that you've been wanting.
For your reset, like I said, personal growth
is what we're focusing on.
So if you have any unhealed parts of you
or just need to talk to someone,
I really recommend seeking support with therapy.
Many therapists are covered by insurance,
so find one that works best for you.
Or if you're not wanting to take the therapy route,
just allow yourself to fully sit with yourself
when you're having, you know, negative thoughts or down thoughts.
And don't try to kill those thoughts with going on your phone
or doing something else and trying to put a band-aid on it.
Sit with yourself.
Allow yourself to soak in what you're feeling
because hitting it head first is going to be what makes you be able to get over it.
Or not even necessarily get over it, but start to heal.
And if you're thinking right now, Jaden,
And I want a more intense challenge and I am ready for a real reset.
You can do the winter arc challenge, the typical normal way, which is a much more disciplined.
And you can create that whatever works best for you.
So it's a 90 day challenge, like I said, where you're having a daily workout, journaling, eating healthy, every day, waking up early, taking cold showers.
Personally, I prefer more balance in my life and I want to allow flexibility.
So I don't necessarily love the 90-day winter arc challenge the typical way,
but I'm going to instead prioritize and have a structured schedule
and goals I want to meet every day,
but without being too disciplined these slower, cozy year months.
For your reset, sometimes it takes more than journaling or a workout to find yourself again.
Now that you're having a reset, maybe for you getting your nails done
or doing your nails or getting a facial and your hair done,
is the perfect jumpstart to starting fresh.
of course working out and cleaning out my phone everything like that does make me feel really
restarted and fresh but nothing makes me feel like the perfect jumpstart then cleaning up my nails
doing my hair and start doing some face masks also a good rule to remember when entering this
new version of you is if you are blessed which you are bless others giving is beautiful whatever
form that may be giving is beautiful that could be leaving your neighbor a gift
at their door or volunteering or buying the stranger behind you their food so start incorporating
giving more into your life now something else that is very important is start saying yes to more things
that are beneficial that are outside of your comfort zone doing that is going to push you in the
right direction and also start saying no to what drains your energy it's important to be aware of how
we feel after being with certain people and how we feel after doing certain activities and you will
start to determine what is an energy drainer and what's an energy giver. Something you should do is lean more
into motivational books with this reset. I am a self-help book girl and I have all of my favorites listed
over my Amazon storefront. But it's very important that you replace some of your time that's on
TikTok scrolling with reading a book or doing something else. And even if you do want to be on your phone,
but you're used to just scrolling on TikTok or Instagram, replace that time with Pinterest. Like I said,
Pinterest is a great way to motivate yourself because you're seeing that visual inspo and it allows you to leave your eye on the prize.
I hope you guys enjoyed this episode and really thought about how this is the perfect time for you to have your reset.
It is never too late to hit the reset button and don't wait until January 1st to get started.
So start new, make progress and live with balance.
