Hello, my love.
Welcome back to the Busy Yet Pretty Podcast.
I'm your host, Jane and Haley.
If you're new here, welcome.
I talk all about how to become the best version of you
and ultimately just live your dream life.
And when we, I'm very seasonal.
Okay, so I love seasons and just tapping into what's seasonal right now
and what will make you feel good.
So I feel like we should all tune, fine tune our routines,
our just our hobbies and a lot of things to the season
because that's going to make us feel our best.
So I have lots of fun summer inspo coming to you soon.
And I'm very excited about today's episode because this has to also kind of do with the season, which is summer.
But with that is something that a lot of us struggle with in summer is body confidence.
So today we're going to talk about how to feel confident in your body,
healing your relationship with food and loving every stage of your body.
But before we get into today's episode, let's go through our weekly review.
If you may have noticed, I did not have an episode last week, which is very rare.
I always have an episode every Monday, but I was going through kind of like a GI, like my stomach just has been having a flare.
So I just have been like taking it easy and I'm like, you know, it's okay.
We'll come back next week.
So I took a little time off, but I'm feeling better slightly and I'm still trying to figure out my stomach issues.
But I'm feeling back and excited to talk to you today.
But while I had that, I went on a little staycation with my mom, which was so nice.
We love doing a little one-night staycation and honestly just having a one-night.
staycation with someone that you love and your best friend can make you just feel so refueled and
more motivated for the week. And another thing right now is I've been staying consistent with my
wellness routines and just staying consistent on being calm and content. I feel like we easily get
distracted and feeling overwhelmed and feeling like we have so much to do. And it's important when we
start to feel that overwhelming feeling that just like washes over us to remember that it is as
important to feel content and find the positives and find the little consistency and your routines
and the little things that can make you feel refueled, such as doing a hobby or just watching
your TV in bed in the evenings. Doing those little things are going to make you feel more refueled
and more at ease. And remember, just to take time for yourself. So that's what I have been doing this
week. Now on to the current obsessions of the week. My corrupt session right now is the book I'm reading
and I'm hooked, guys, I'm hooked.
I'm back in my reading era, which I love because I feel like when I have some sort of like
escapism thing that's a very healthy escapism, which I feel reading is a very healthy one,
it makes me happy and it makes me feel like, okay, I'm in a good place.
So I have just been loving my book I'm reading and I'm very much in tune to it where my thoughts
aren't just sometimes, okay, I can't be the only one, sometimes I read.
And I'm like, I cannot remember the last five pages.
I just read because my my thoughts are somewhere else and I'm like I have to go back and read it again.
But I've been really engaged in it and I'm reading the book Our Perfect Storm by Carly Fortune.
I absolutely love all her books. So I'm loving this new one of hers. Another crowd obsession right now is the Bernie Melville
seafone blue teal set and also the coral set. I feel like it's so cute. They always sell out but I got my
hands on them and they have been my favorite things I've been wearing this week. And lastly my current
obsession right now is taking a bath. Very classic, very easy, but I have not taken a bath in ages.
And I did it last week and I'm like, you know what? I'm entering my bath obsession right now.
It's so fun. I have my little magnesium salts. I have a candle lit. I had like my little
electrolyte drink with me and it's so nice and calming. But I just have been loving taking baths and
I really recommend you do one this week. It's such a classic, but it does so much for you,
form of self-care that is often overlooked, but it can do so much for you. Now on to the goal of the
week. My goal of the week right now is to do more humming for my nervous system, something that is so
important if you're someone who's stressed or has a nervous system dysregulation or just want to,
in general, help heal your nervous system is hum. Like I in the shower will always be humming,
or if I'm in my room alone, I will be humming. And I promise you it can do so much for yourself in your
nervous system. Another goal the week right now is to find a very mineral rich water brand. I feel like
people are obsessed with water and I haven't picked up on that obsession yet, but I am and I feel like
something to be obsessed with can be water and I do want to look into like some good mineral
rich water brands that I can start purchasing. I can't lie. Sometimes I love nothing more just than
an ice crisp water with like cucumbers and strawberries in it. It just tastes so good. Now into my last
goal is to store my winter clothes away and bring out some new summer pieces. I honestly have so many
pieces that I cycle out throughout the season and I save it for myself for next year. So I want to
take those pack out and get out all my summer pieces because the weather is starting to warm up and
it's actually now starting to feel like summer. Now on to the affirmation of the week. I am
healing my mind, body, and soul while learning and growing. I love that affirmation so much. I really
recommend you affirming that to yourself. Now on to your self-love question of the week.
How can I show up for myself when I am at my lowest?
I love that question so much, and it is so important to ask yourself that because sometimes
our back is against the wall, we're struggling, and having the little tools and just knowing
how we can pick ourselves up is so important.
And honestly, you are your biggest advocate, so you need to advocate for yourself and
be your life saver, your life best when you need it.
Now on to the podcast review.
If you want to be featured on next week's episode, make sure to leave a podcast review over
Apple podcast and leave a rating over Spotify. Also, I've been seeing so many of your guys' TikToks that
you guys tagged me in, of you like cleaning your room, having a day in your life, and listening to the
podcast. I absolutely love them and on your Instagram stories. So if you post one, make sure to tag me
because I would love to repost. This review is from Kiki, and Kiki said, your podcast is literally
such a motivational boost and a lift into the week, letting go a perfectionist habits and truly
becoming the best version of herself from the inside out. Thank you for dedicated.
getting your time to this. It really helps us all. This made my day. Thank you so much for your review,
and I hope you know how proud I am of you. And honestly, I'm just here to give you the info and
motivation you need for the week, but you are the one doing the work. So you should be so proud of
yourself. In the summer, I love to have consistency in my routine, especially with my health,
since sometimes in the summer, I swear, I'm just like wrapped up in the plans and going to adventure and go
places and while all of that is great, it's still important to be consistent on your routines and your
health, which is why I love AG1. AG1 is a daily health drink with a multivitamin, pre and probiotics,
superfoods and antioxidants with just one scoop in eight ounces of water. It truly is so easy. I will
just have a water bottle on the go and then I'll just add my scoop of AG1 and I love knowing that I am
doing what I need for my health, but also not having to invest so much time into it if I'm busy.
It truly just makes it so easy to have consistency in my health.
Literally, I love AG1.
My dad is such an AG1 guy.
We all love AG1 here.

That's drinkag1.com slash pretty.
First spring, one of my favorite things, has been my nails and when my nails are done
because sometimes I just don't have time to go to the nail salon to do my nails, so I'll do them at home.
The funny thing is, I actually bring the same nail polish to the nail salon because it's just that good, and I swear by it.
I do the Olive and June gel polish and LHG, and then a gel top coat.
I use the Olive and June mini system.
Everything you need in one box for a salon quality manicure.
I love how it doesn't chip and it lasts for seven or more days.
Not only that, it comes down to being only $2 per manicure, which is a lot more affordable than
going to the nail salon, but it has just been my current spring obsession because it just makes
doing your nails at home so easy. So if you're looking for a new manicure routine, I really
recommend it. You can visit olive and June.com slash pretty 20 for 20% off your first system.

I am so excited for today's episode. So let's get into the episode that we've been
waiting for, which is how to feel confident in your body, healing your relationship with food,
and loving every stage. Of your body, because we all experience different stages, let's be real,
from the time you were a teenager, or from the time you were actually little and a little girl
or little boy, whoever's listening, to where you are now and the in-between in the future,
our body will change. So it's so good to love the in-between. So I'm very excited about today's
episode. So let's get into it. Summer is approaching.
and body image is obviously a conversation that needs to be talked about because we're seeing
things like summer body prep and don't get me wrong. I love nothing more than a summer prep and
there's nothing wrong with wanting to get toned, wanting to get fit, why not even a summer body
prep. But let me just remind you that every stage of your life is a summer body. You can have goals
of wanting to get toned or wanting to feel strong or wanting to even, you know, get thin. Whatever
your goal is, it doesn't matter. The point is what I'm trying to say is there is no such thing
as a summer body. It's literally what we make in our mind. It is literally what we make up in our
mind. My version of a summer body is different than your version, different from your friends,
different from who you see on social media. But the point is summer obviously has to do with
swimsuits and wearing less clothing. And there is so much shame and so much down. If you are someone
who's not confident in your body.
They're just so much down feeling about summer because your body image is involved.
And most of all, just feeling the pressure to change your body before you can actually enjoy your
life.
Like, okay, I can enjoy my summer once I'm this toned.
I can enjoy my summer once I fit into this swimsuit.
No, literally, that is not how it should be.
Confidence isn't something you earn after reaching a goal weight or after reaching a certain size
because I guarantee you if you make that size or if you make that weight or whatever goal that you have in mind for a summer body, it does not mean you're going to be 100% confident. I can guarantee you.
What makes you confident is investing in yourself, showing up for yourself and loving yourself. I kid you not. I remember when I was in my eating disorder. I was like, I'm going to be happy and I'll love myself once I am this, once I weighed this much, babe, I weighed less than that.
and I absolutely hated myself more than I did before. I kid you not. It's a endless cycle and an
endless loop, which is why I will always preach that confidence comes from within and it has to be
where you find confidence at where you are right now, not once you hit a certain physical goal.
We need to learn how to feel at home in your body right now, not once you hit a certain goal.
So let's talk about why so many women actually struggle with body confidence.
Number one, the most common, but growing up in diet culture.
Another one, which is very relevant in this day and age, but constant comparison over social media,
obviously very relevant and hard to escape because we're on social media.
But again, what people are doing on the outside, whether it's posting in a bikini or posting
what I eat in a day, or posting even a body check, that should not have to do with you.
You don't have to follow people that you don't like or that it doesn't motivate you.
And let me just say it doesn't affect all people.
Like someone posting a body check, not that I condone that whatsoever, but if someone is posting an obvious body check video, that should have nothing to do with you.
And it may not affect a lot of people watching it.
And it doesn't affect someone watching it.
So they're still going to follow that person.
But if it's affecting you or affecting somebody else, a lot of times it has to do with their own self what's inside.
But it doesn't matter.
even if you're not physically, let's say feeling those emotions of feeling like, oh gosh, I hated
that body check video. Now I'm comparing myself. It doesn't mean you have to follow that person.
I actively don't follow people who are like weight loss people because I don't care to see it.
Even though it doesn't affect me, I know that if I constantly am saying that constantly day after
day seeing weight loss videos, no doubt you're going to start thinking more weight loss things.
What you surround yourself and your environment is what you become. If you hang around,
negative people, you'll become the six. If you watch constant videos of people talking about weight loss,
you'll begin thinking more about weight loss. And another reason why people struggle with body image
is feeling like your worth is tied to your appearance. Obviously, it's society, how people make us think.
But let's be real. So many people do treat people negatively based off of how they view someone
physically, which is absolutely disgusting and wrong. But that's how society works. And that's how
it has made us so feel so like our back is against the wall. And we have to look a certain
way in order to feel confident because we're scared of the perception of others it's not always
the perception of others it's just even how we think of ourselves so many times that we're chasing confidence
through changing our body image instead of changing our mindset you will never be fulfilled with yourself
if your confidence solely relies on how you look or the number on the scale or a certain size
because once you hit that number on the scale or a certain size you're already going to be setting a new
goal physically for yourself. And while that is fine, you could have those goals, you have to know
that confidence has to come within within even your lowest stage of your body. Even if you absolutely
hate your body, you have to find the confidence at your lowest stage in order to love yourself at your
best. I promise it really is flopped and vice versa than what you're thinking it is. Body confidence
isn't loving every single thing every day. Confidence isn't waking up obsessed with your body.
Like, let's be girl, that's literally not going to happen where you wake up obsessed with your body
after you just cried hating yourself.
It's not going to come overnight.
Confidence is trusting your body, respecting it,
and putting the action into thinking,
okay, I could right now look at myself in the mirror
and absolutely hate myself and think,
I'm not going to eat tonight
or I'm going to go to the gym
and work myself into my last limit.
That right there is taking action on a negative thought.
So it's about not taking action on that negative thought,
not continuously talking bad on yourself.
And also accepting that bodies naturally change
through life. Not every day. It needs to be a body positive day. Because if you try to think,
okay, I'm going to love myself every single day. Like, let's be real. There's times we all feel
negative with our body. We can't always love ourselves. Like, I'm trying to be realistic rather
than being body positivity. Yay. Like, obviously we're not going to feel that 24-7. So don't act
and try to triggercoat it like you're going to feel that way. Let's be honest. We're going to have some
bad days. But it's not taking action on those negative thoughts, but continue.
looking in the mirror, tearing ourselves apart, not eating, or binge eating, and actively punishing
ourselves because we don't like what we look like. So no, you don't have to love yourself in the
mirror every day, but you don't need to take action on those negative thoughts. Let's talk about
healing your relationship with food. Food isn't something that you need to earn. Literally, it's
not something you need to earn. It's food is fuel. Food is fuel. It needs to be used in an appropriate
way. It needs to fuel your mind, body, and your soul. It doesn't need to even. It doesn't even.
to be moving away from good and bad foods are literally so important in healing your relationship
with your body. Restriction often leads to obsession. That's where eating disorders happen with
anorexia or binge eating. Learning to eat in a way that supports your body is also so important
where food isn't just food anymore. It's not just something that you're putting in your mouth,
but there's something behind it, like the nutrients. And you know that, wow, when I have
eggs, it makes me feel energized. When I have my matcha, it makes me feel great. It makes me feel great.
great and awake. When I have a salad, it makes me have fiber. I digest my food better because it helps
my stomach. So it's finding that meaning behind food. So learn to eat in a way that supports and
nourishes your body. Eat because you deserve nourishment, not because you've earned it. And also
giving yourself permission to enjoy food, you don't need to 100% eat healthy all the time.
I love the 80-20 rule being 80% having that good balance of eating healthy, eating things that
you body needs. And that 20%
just feeding your soul whatever it is it doesn't need to be beneficial all it needs to do is benefit your
soul enjoy the pizza enjoy the pop tarts enjoy whatever makes you happy it makes you excited to eat it like
you don't always need to be so hard on yourself when you're on your deathbed you're going to
not regret eating that piece of cake but you will regret being mean to yourself and not letting
yourself wear that swimsuit to the beach and enjoying your summer and when it comes to eating to feel good
instead of looking different, it's choosing foods that support your energy and your health,
listening to what your body needs. And also understanding that wellness isn't a one-size-fits-all.
Same with clothes. Like, don't get me wrong. I love a brandy-mal-mobile moment. I find a lot of my
favorite, like, cotton pieces there. But again, the one-size-fits-all, like, let's be so for real.
Nothing is one-size-fits-all. It's not a thing. It's literally not a thing. Because here's the
thing, when it comes to wellness, when it comes to routines, when it comes to clothes, anything. But
especially your wellness routine. It's not going to be the same wellness habit that your friend has or
that I have or your mom has. We all have different needs because we're all different people. We all have
different needs. We all have different wants and things that we like to do. And let me be honest with you,
waking up at 5 a.m. and doing a cold plunge doesn't work for my body. It would put my body under too much
stress. But it may work for you. And also what works for me, which is waking up early, I still love to wake up
early, but having a slow morning may be too slow for you so you look a more fast-paced morning.
So that really is important when it comes to food as well. And also realizing how food can become
self-care instead of a punishment. And lastly, focusing on how you feel rather than what you weigh,
it is so easy to determine our happiness based off of what size we are or what we weigh, literally
throw away the scale. I've never weighed myself for years and I kid you not, that's something
what the best things you can do for your mental health. Throw away the scale. Focus on how you feel.
How do you feel? Don't compare yourself and compare your happiness based off of your size, literally,
based off of your size. And one of the biggest things you can do is protect yourself from comparison.
That is curating your social media feed, unfollowing accounts that make you feel worse.
And remembering that social media is a highlight reel. We're posting what makes us feel the most confident.
majority of us are not posting our low days or days that we don't feel as confident.
Like, I kid you not, majority of the times I'm posting the ones I feel confident and cute in
and the photos I think that I love myself in.
There are some photos where I'm like, yeah, that's ugly.
That's not going anywhere.
I do not like that photo.
And that's okay.
We're all going to do it just like you.
You're not going to want to post your low days photos or days that you'd feel ugly.
You're not going to want to post those.
So you can't compare people's highlight of how they feel their best.
when you're not seeing their lows.
Comparison literally steals confidence
and you need to create a healthier digital environment for yourself.
If you have been around for a while,
you know the story with my podcast where I almost didn't start it,
which is crazy to me because to think that I wouldn't have been
where I am today if I didn't start,
all the what ifs and doubts can just add up
and be the one thing stopping you between you
and getting the dream that you want.
And for you that may be running a business
because let's be honest, one of the most intimidating things is running a business, but most importantly,
launching a business because it has a lot of different aspects and tools that are needed.
And this is new to you, so it can feel scary.
So if you have a business in mind and you have been wanting to launch a business, let this be your sign to start.
One of my favorite things I recommend to anyone starting their business or who have a business
that are trying to take it to the next level is Shopify.
Shopify is the commerce platform behind millions of businesses around the world and 10% of all
of e-commerce in the U.S. from household names like Mattel to Jimshark to brands just getting started.
What I love about Shopify is you can rely on them to have all the tools you need to just run your
business smoothly, from marketing to product photography to communications, seriously everything
you need to run a business. So if you have been scared to start a business, I'm telling you Shopify
is the best way to start and launch and also just run your business. So with that said,
it's time you launch fast, perfect later. And it's time for you.

dot com slash busy yet pretty. Let's talk about loving every stage of your body. You love your
body during the stressful seasons. You have to love your body during the healing seasons. Love your
body during the growth and transitions. Love your body during periods of change. And recognizing that every
version of you deserves love and care. It doesn't matter what version it is. It deserves the same
amount of treatment and care that you give to your best. If you are at your lowest, give yourself
the same love and the same treatment. Stop using punishment as a way of motivation. You can still
have your goals, like I said, you can want to get toned. You can want to feel stronger, feel healthier,
feel more fit. But don't try to hate yourself into getting it done and into getting to the gym.
Like, enjoy it. Make the routine enjoyable. Make yourself excited and be like, oh my gosh, this is day one of this new journey.
I'm going to be consistent in doing 5,000 steps a day. I'm going to lay out my cute shoes for the day, pick out my podcast, have a fun little treat to have after my drink of the day.
You don't have to bully yourself into doing stuff.
Now let's talk about practical ways to feel more confident right now.
Number one, stop saving clothes for a future version of yourself. Why do we do that? It's a natural habit we all have.
we save things until the right time. But let's be honest, it may never be the right time.
Right now is the right time. There is no better time than now. So stop saving clothes until you feel
confident to wear them. Wear them now. Another thing is buy clothes that fit your current body.
It's so easy to buy clothes that fit a size below us or two sizes below us and we think,
okay, I'm going to fit into this by the end of this month because I'm going to work out. I'm going to
eat healthier. Let's be honest, 90% of the time it doesn't have.
Why? Because we have life things that happen. Maybe we weren't able to make it to the gym because
our work absolutely plastered us with so many hours that we weren't able to make it there. Things happen,
but stop buying sizes that are so below and buy things that are fitting your current body or you're
always going to be wearing the same things and just saving things, waiting for the right moment.
But what if you never made it to that size? What if your size was your current size right now for the
rest of your life? What if? What if? And you wasted all that time buying cute clothes.
Sizes too low and hopes to fit it. You never did. So you had to suffer with the clothes that
you didn't really love because you felt that's what you deserved. Wear clothes and outfits that make
you feel comfortable and confident. Take care of your appearance because it feels good.
Not take care of your appearance because what other people think or trying to fit in with
the standards of society, but take care of yourself to feel good inside and out.
Focus on feeling confident and not perfect.
Another thing when it comes to self-love beyond appearance is your personality, your kindness,
your resilience, your goals, your passions, your hobbies, your interests,
building confidence from who you are, not just how you look.
Now let's talk about summer without body shame because that is something that is so important.
Not waiting to enjoy vacations, the beach, or photos.
So many of the times we want to hide where someone's taking a photo
because we don't feel confident in the swimsuit we're at,
or we're not even wearing the swimsuit because we don't feel confident to put it on.
Or maybe you didn't even make it to the beach.
Even fully clothed.
You didn't make it to the beach because you don't feel confident.
Stop waiting to enjoy the vacations, enjoy the beach, enjoy the photos.
Go there, enjoy it.
If you're going to show up for yourself, show up for yourself in positivity, knowing that you're going to enjoy this, not with shame.
If you're going to eat the cake, why eat it in shame?
Shaming yourself, gosh, I shouldn't be eating this.
Gosh, I'm going to feel so guilty.
No, if you're going to eat it, you're going to enjoy it.
Wear the swimsuit.
Be present instead of criticizing yourself.
Create the memories instead of chasing perfection.
Another one is refusing to put life on hold until your body changes.
Stop putting your life on hold.
Like I said, why are you waiting to enjoy your life until your body changes?
Your body may never change.
So learn to enjoy the now.
Because every day isn't promised.
But right now, right now is what you have.
So enjoy it.
you're on your deathbed and you're a hundred years old, you're not going to be thinking,
why did I eat that cake?
Or why did I wear that swimsuit when I wasn't the right size?
No, you're going to be thinking, wow, I enjoyed that vacation.
I enjoyed all the treats that I ate.
I enjoyed the company I had going on all these adventures.
You're not going to be thinking of the negative parts.
And when it comes to habits that strengthen body confidence, it's so important to have
these ingrained in your toolbox.
So that's speaking kindly to yourself.
practicing gratitude for what your body does for you
and moving your body from a place of care
like I said, not punishment,
nourishing yourself consistently
and celebrating small wins in progress.
Those are also important in things to just start practicing
in your day-to-day life.
So as I close out this episode,
I want you to remember that your body is not a project
that is constantly needing fixing.
Confidence literally grows from self-respect and compassion.
You deserve to enjoy your life in the body that you have today.
And of course, summer is not something
that you need to earn. I love you so much and I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did talking about
it. I feel like this is so important, especially with the summertime rolling around. So if you enjoyed
this episode, make sure to leave a rating over Spotify and Apple, leave a review. And please share over
your Instagram story and TikTok and make sure to tag me so I can repost. And if you're listening
from Spotify, make sure leave in the comment section something that you love about your body because
I would love to hear. I'll start first. I actually love, and I kid you not, I'm not just saying this
for like the body positivity way.
I genuinely love the stretch marks I have on the side of like my hips.
I think they're so cute and I don't know.
I love them and I've had them for years and they make me happy honestly.
And I like how they look when I'm tan also.
I genuinely love them.
Anyways, I hope you have a great week and I'm so excited for you and the summer you're
going to have.
Remember the goal is imperfection.
It's freedom, peace and feeling at home within yourself.
And do not forget to stay at busy yet pretty.
