Hello, my dolls. Welcome back to the Busy Yet Pretty Podcast. I'm your host, Jane Haley. I'm really looking forward to
to today's episode because I feel like this is needed for all of us. As it is Mental Health Awareness Month,
I think it's really important to talk about happiness. If you are someone who does or does not struggle with a mental illness,
regardless of what it is, I think that happiness is a very important topic to talk about. So without further ado,
let's get into our weekly review. This week, I have been starting a new routine that includes
plenty of free time. I feel like I've been just balls to the walls, crazy, productive mindset,
and that really burnt me out. I feel like, you know, hustle culture can definitely get into your
head. So where I've been starting a new routine, and it's really been working for me. And I'm
actually getting a lot more done by incorporating all this free time into my day because I'm not feeling as
burnt out as I do when I just work, work, work, work. As Rihanna says, another thing this week is,
I have been doing a lot of more cooking and not eating out as much. And let me just say, I cook one
new meal and I'm like, okay, I'm a chef. No, but I have been loving cooking at home. I feel
like it's a really nice hands-on activity. So if you've been eating out a lot recently, try cooking at
home. And it's a really nice, like, hobby to pick up too. And another thing this week is I have just
been enjoying the warmer weather. It's starting to actually feel like summer now, so I'm very
excited. And looking forward to summer and the exciting summer episodes that are coming on its way
too. Now on to the current obsessions. My current obsession right now is my bonnet for my hair.
I will go to bed every single night and I just put on my bonnet and let me just say I used to
wake up with extremely, extremely tangled hair every single day. My hair would be on my face
and that also would cause like acne and breakouts on my face from having the oils of your hair
just touch your skin. And I swear my skin has been better, my hair has been better just because
I started using this under $10 bonnet. So if you were a long haired girl or maybe any type of
haired girl and need something to just help your hair in the morning, I really recommend a bonnet.
Another current obsession right now is coconut milk. I am such a coconut milk girl. I love. I love
I love it. I think it's so divine in lattes. And I don't mean like coconut flavored syrup. I mean like coconut milk. I love like a coconut milk. I just think the base is so creamy and so divine.
And my last current obsession right now is being off my phone and just breathing. I'm finding it just so helpful for my work and getting more done by not spending so much time on my phone. Now on to the goal of the week. My goal of the week right now is to do more for my
of activities lately I have been a loving pickleball I've only done it probably like six or seven times
but let me just say each one of those times I've gone full out I love it I think it's so fun and a fun
outdoor activity another goal the week for me is to plan for the summer and maybe a little trip
I think I'm going to Japan in the summer so that will be really exciting and lastly just make the
conscious effort to look at life through a more grateful lens I'm a very grateful person
but sometimes you can just feel like offbeat and need to get realigned and I feel like the most important thing to do is start with being grateful.
Now on to your affirmation. I am meant for the life I desire. I love that affirmation so much and I really recommend journaling it.
Now onto your self-love question. What is a personal goal that you'd like to begin working towards?
I feel like this question is just super important to ask yourself and can be really helpful to realign what personal goal you're wanting to work on.
Now for your challenge, it sounds simple and fun, so start a new hobby.
I love this because I'm currently trying to search for a new hobby that I can pick up and just be away from work, and I found it to be really helpful and exciting.
Now on to the podcast review, and this is a longer review, and this is from Anjali, and she said,
this podcast has really changed my life in such an amazing way.
It has made me feel so inspired, motivated me to live my dream life, and help me be more confident.
I started listening to this podcast since the very first episode, and I look forward to listening to it every Monday.
I love listening to it when I start my morning and get ready for the day.
Jaden is so inspiring, and I look up to her for being so confident in herself and making her best dreams come true.
She is always so positive and has the best advice that is so real and helpful.
This podcast has really motivated me to follow my dreams to go after what I want in life,
and to stay productive while also prioritizing self-care.
It has motivated me to have a better routine,
to work out, to eat healthier, and to balance work and rest.
I really recommend listening to this podcast if you're looking to live your best life,
to be more confident, to be more positive, and to be more healthy,
and to be the best version of yourself.
Angelie, I don't even know where to begin.
That review literally brought tears to my eyes.
I'm just so beyond grateful.
And the fact that you started listening since the first episode and are still listening
brings my heart just filled with so much joy.
and I just am so beyond proud of you for putting the work into becoming the best version of you and seeing those results.
I truly love you so much and if you want to be featured on next week's episode, please feel free to leave a podcast review over Apple Podcasts.
Without further ado, let's get into this episode.
As I said, in honor a mental health awareness month, I think it's extremely important to talk about happiness.
So let's talk about I love happy me and the happiest version of you is so pretty.
This episode is also not an episode to cure your depression or is the answer to everyone, but it's more of an episode to provide true helpful tools that you can incorporate into your life, or even your everyday when you begin to feel down, or even, like I said, incorporate this into your daily life to prevent down times from occurring. And most importantly, this episode to put things into perspective for you. As many of you know, I have struggled with an illness myself.
I struggled with anorexia and that led to me to having depression.
And when I was really young, around like sixth grade and stuff,
I struggled with lots of anxiety,
specifically social anxiety when I was getting bullied.
So I definitely know the ins and outs of what it feels like to feel your lowest.
And I really quick want to touch on something that I was thinking.
And I get so many messages from you guys,
which I, it lights up my day.
Every single time I read your guys' message.
over DM or in my comment sections it literally makes me the happiest ever but I get a lot of
messages of you guys saying I hope to become as successful as you are one day or you hope to have the
same life as me and the same mindset as me and I literally appreciate that so much because it took a
lot of hard work to get where I am today but I also get some messages that say I wish to be as
happy as you are one day those are the messages I kind of take a pause at because I feel
I feel like I share a lot of, of course, the positive highlights.
And so does everybody on social media.
They share the positive.
They don't want to share the negative.
Like, I don't want to bring you guys down when I'm having a bad day.
I try to be as transparent as possible where if I feel down one day, maybe I'll post it
and be like, look what happened to my drink today.
I spilled it or something funny or whatever.
But when I'm feeling really, really down, I don't share it very often because I want
to be a positive safe space for you guys.
And that's most everyone on social media.
Everyone wants to share the positive of their life.
So again, it maybe looks like every single day I'm having the day of my life.
I'm the happiest ever.
But just like my days of when I'm feeling down and sad that I don't post, you're going to have those same days too.
Like my days, your days are not going to be the happiest day every day.
So just have to put that out there because I think it's really important to remember and humanize any influencers that you follow.
and any celebrities you think of that we are all like one another.
Every single day is not a happy day.
So don't feel like you're alone if you're having a bad day because I kid you not, we all have
them.
Although being happy is a choice.
And that sentence is very aggravating to many people.
I mean, I could even feel that's aggravating.
Because you think of things beyond your control such as mental illness, physical illness,
your home life situation, your working.
situation, past trauma, things that you can't control that are going on or affecting you.
So when you hear happiness is a choice, it doesn't feel like it's a choice.
As I mentioned in an episode before, you cannot rewind the past.
You can only write your future.
So being you can't rewind your past, it's really important to remember, though, that you can
heal from your past.
And let me just say, there is nothing you will be fully healed from.
There's times where you are fully healed from something in times where you are fully healed from
something in times where you maybe are still in that situation or still holding on to those feelings
that you are unable to heal and that is okay. But that's a different subject. But what I mean by
happiness is a choice is what you can control in your life and how you choose to view what you
cannot control plays a dominant role on your happiness. There are choices and actions that we take
in life such as taking the easy way out or choosing the route of whatever brings us temporary joy.
on the back end brings us negative repercussions.
And what I mean by that is the things that you are able to control will dictate the results
of your happiness.
So the choice is yours and let's dive into the best ways to truly feel and embody happiness.
My personal favorite is tapping into your younger self.
This past year, I've been doing this a lot more and let me just say it has changed my life.
When you were younger, you didn't take so much seriously.
You knew less.
you didn't have as much knowledge in society, in work, in school.
You only knew what was right in front of you, and that was your toys, your books,
playing outside, listening to music, and living life to just play.
As adults, we don't play.
We have work, we have school, we have jobs, we have kids, we have husbands,
and of course priorities that we feel obligated to attend to,
which is the majority cause to your result of burnout.
Begin to channel your younger self and play.
I literally mean play.
I don't mean just the word play.
I mean literally play.
You can get out your old Barbie dolls, dress them up,
watch a childhood movie that you loved,
roll in the grass.
Do things that feed your soul shamelessly.
Do not think about what anyone else thinks.
You have to do this shamelessly and really just play.
As weird as it sounds, I promise you it can make such a difference
in your life and really just remember the point of life is to be happy.
Sometimes the hustle culture of LA catches up to me and I decide to go home for a little bit
with my parents and just stay there for a week and I practically revert to a child again for like
a week where I'll let my mom cook for me.
I'll play board games and I'll go outside and pick flowers.
I will play mini golf outside.
Like I will do anything to just feel like a kid and it's even a running joke in my family.
how I say that I revert when I go back to my parents' house because I just am letting the mindset of like, quote, adulting, just take a break for a second.
Like I'm pausing it and just playing.
Okay.
Another thing that is a really random funny thing, but can be very helpful is Hopecore on TikTok.
It sounds very stupid.
But if you look up Hopecore, there are just like a lot of videos that come up that are basically supposed to be motivating videos and remembering the point.
of life and I just feel like they're so motivating and just brings you back to the point of life
which is to be happy serve others and fulfill your dreams so sometimes when I wake up I'm just
not feeling very motivated or happy I'll turn on some hope core while I'm eating breakfast and I'm
telling you it is the motivation that just pushes you and they're literally 30 second videos I love
them next up is therapy therapy can be for everyone not just those who
have trauma. I actually just signed up this week for it again. When signing up for therapy or even
telling people you go to therapy, there should be no shame in it at all because you are just talking
things out and talking aloud can be the biggest weight off your chest. Another personal
favorite thing for me is begin taking care of yourself as the person who loves you would.
It is very easy for you to be hard on yourself, tear yourself apart, and even hate things about you
or even, I hate to say this, but hate yourself.
But if you begin to talk to yourself and care for yourself the way your mom, your sister, or your
grandma or your dad would, you truly will begin to feel warmer and happier.
The minute I begin tearing or picking myself apart in the mirror,
I'll instead talk to myself as my mom would.
She would not be picking me apart and said she would be saying how beautiful I am,
how kind and generous I am, how hardworking I am, and how lovely I am,
and just saying those words to yourself can just take you out of that toxic mindset.
You need to remember that your happiest self is your prettiest self.
So the actions that you take every day will be the result of how you feel.
Again, I said there are things that happen to you, maybe that you can't control,
maybe your work situation, your home life, or past trauma.
But that's in your action to begin taking steps to heal or even just close that chapter.
I am not saying whatsoever that you will be fully happy by closing any traumatic experiences that happen to you,
but even just taking steps can improve what you do and how you view that, which can result in you feeling ultimately better about yourself.
Now onto the topic of things determine your worth.
Nothing determines your worth.
Not the grade on the test that you got.
If you got the job or if you look a certain way or if you were invited to that party, nothing determines your worth.
nothing determines your worth.
Actually, one thing determines your worth, and that's you.
It's how you view yourself, the boundaries that you set for yourself, and knowing what you deserve.
Now, think of the things that you begin being hung up on that you feel determines your worth,
such as a test, not being invited to something.
As I just mentioned, you know your fixations, so take time to think about them.
What keeps you up at night?
What eats you up during the day?
What makes you feel defeated?
whatever or whoever that is is not your worth.
This is where you have to take yourself out of the situation and look at the big picture.
You are here once.
You are alive right now, but you're letting precious time slip away that you cannot get back.
Would you rather live a life full of worry and self-hate or live a life your happiest self?
I have an episode on this but living life for your 80-year-old self and living life for your 8-year-old self,
which is where you need to just go back to your younger self and think,
would she or he or whatever you identify as,
would she be happy with me at this moment?
And then you think of your 80 year old self and say,
would she be happy with me at this moment?
Because when you are on your deathbed one day,
you are going to regret not living life to your fullest
and actually embracing happiness.
Stop blaming every single thing in front of you
and start looking in and thinking,
you know what, maybe the actions I'm taking right now is causing me to feel this way.
The things that you are able to control, make them the best choices for yourself to result
in you feeling that happiness and getting the most out of your life.
Another thing that I love is spend time with an animal or a pet.
If you don't have one, go to an adoption center, go to a cat cafe, and just play with the animals.
Animals can be so healing for the soul and they also get happy when you play with them.
so it's a win-win situation.
Okay, back to the childhood,
but begin eating foods and meals
that you had in your childhood that feed your soul.
And no, they do not necessarily have to be healthy.
Just eat something that feeds your soul
because you know what is healthy is actually feeding your soul.
It doesn't matter if it is not necessarily healthy for your body,
but healthy for your soul,
and that results in a healthy body.
I know it sounds like I kind of just talked in circles there,
but it's true.
healthy for your body is healthy for your soul and vice versa.
Another thing that is very important is embrace your alone time and shy away from your phone
and entertainment such as TV when you're alone.
I'm not saying lock yourself in a box and don't touch any device, but I'm saying try to
enjoy just living without any sort of a need to go reach for your phone or reach for a distraction
to avoid you being alone with yourself.
When you begin to put the effort and time learning how interesting it is to just live with yourself,
you can find out that you are your own best friend.
And that can allow you to stop searching outward to try to find something to fill that void.
Another thing to really help improve happiness is in the mornings, read a book, go outside,
and when you're outside, point out and seek the beauty and positivity right in front of you.
I feel it is so important to get morning sunshine in the morning.
and if you don't have sunshine in the morning where you live,
maybe get one of the sunlights.
There's little like sunset and sunrise lights on Amazon
that are really inexpensive but can really improve your mood.
I feel doing these little simple things
can really just start your day off on a really positive note
and start your day also remembering the purpose and life
and not getting caught up with the stressors
that begin to overrule your brain throughout the day.
Another thing, which I think is the most important
of them all is romanticize the little things in your life. In your day-to-day life, we do such
little simple things that we look past, but as I always say, you have to romanticize them. When you go
eat a snack, go take time into putting it on a pretty plate, making a little snack board.
Make the little things in your day that are so, so minimal, into little joys because all those
small joys add up in your day, which will result in positivity and more happiness throughout your day.
I'm not just saying this because I do this too.
This morning I wanted to have some water, but I'm like, let's jazz it up.
Okay, even if there's no health benefits, it doesn't matter.
Let's just do something to feed my soul.
And for my water, I did a full pitcher with cucumber and strawberry and added some Celtic sea salt to make it like a beautiful concoction of fruit electrolyte water.
And it just tasted so good.
Fed my soul.
and it made something so small as drinking water into something fun and exciting.
Another really important thing to do when trying to get more happiness into your life is do good and service for others.
It can be as simple as a compliment to somebody.
Take time to listen to them.
If you have the mental capacity and the space to be able to listen to somebody, if they're going through something,
be the shouldered for them to lean on.
Another thing you could do is go volunteer somewhere.
buy a homeless person a meal.
Giving other people joy will boost your own joy too.
If you have birds near you, please take time to listen to the birds outside,
or if you can hear them from your home,
open the windows and just listen to the birds.
There's actually something that said,
those who listen to birds for at least five seconds in a day
can result in improved mood.
And I don't doubt that because I love the sound of birds
and it just is so calming and peaceful.
And if you're someone who does not have birds near you,
go look up birds on Spotify, like chirping noises, and there's the most relaxing chirping noises
that you can put in the background throughout your day if you're home. Another thing you can do if your
home is put on your TV a scenery. It's on like YouTube. You can search up relaxing home
sceneries and it'll have like nice relaxing music playing while showing a beautiful home or
landscape. And I find that also really helps. Something that is so important in your happiness.
is do not take things so seriously and live life.
I have a very in-depth episode on this,
but stop taking things so seriously.
I'm trying to do this myself.
We are all on the same boat,
but sometimes when we just are taking things too seriously,
again, we forget the point of life.
I have a hard time doing this myself
because I'm a huge overthinker
and I will accidentally overthink myself
into problems that don't even exist in my life.
And that's really bad because I could manifest something
that is not good into my life.
life. So you want to just think positively, even though it's hard, but again, always look at the
positive in life where it is so important to not take things so seriously. When you begin to just
live and appreciate your days, both the good and the bad, you'll begin to let go of the tension
of perfection that is weighing on you. Perfectionism and the all or nothing mindset is a
absolute most damaging mindset to have because that will ruin any consistency.
and effort that you try to put into becoming the best version of you and to have a better life.
So taking time to just live and appreciate every single day, good or bad, can really change your life.
And I always say this to everybody when they're having a bad day is you have to have the bad days to appreciate the good ones.
You are so beautiful and you deserve to be happy.
You are meant to live life.
You are meant to be here and you are meant to live a happy life.
Out of everything in life, prioritize happiness first and you'll finally begin living.
I love you guys so much and I hope you guys enjoyed this episode as much as I did recording it.
I honestly really love this episode because I feel like happiness is a topic that we all need to talk about
because sometimes we need to look inward and see what are the actions that we are putting outward into our life
that could be shaping the emotions and feelings and results we have in our life.
please please share over your Instagram story with this episode you guys have no clue how much
I appreciate you sharing it and getting the word out and when you guys share it over TikTok
you have no clue how grateful I am like I reposted it every single time and I'm just so be
ungrateful read over Spotify and I just love you guys so much you are here and meant to be here
and you are meant to live a happy life and do not forget to stay busy yet pretty
