Starting point is 00:00:10 Hello, my love. Welcome back to the Busy Yet Pretty Podcast. I'm your host, Jaden Haley. This is a well-leaded episode for honestly everyone, because in today's day and age, there is too much talk about body negativity and societal beauty standards and of course dieting. So I'm really excited to talk about this episode. And I hope this just feels like a safe space where you can just, you know, it feels like you're on FaceTime with a friend. We're just chatting. But without further ado, let's get into today's weekly review. This week I went back home to visit my mom and went fall decor shopping. Let me just say I spent a few hundred that should not have been spent on fall decor and just
Starting point is 00:00:52 cute kitchen essentials. So I will now be eating home for the next few weeks to make up all that spending I did. But I got some nice full decor. And another thing this week is I have been taking things slow, which has made me be actually more productive. as much as it doesn't seem that if you slow down, you're going to be more productive. But when you slow down, take time for yourself, and truly just value the quality of life you have, good things will come to you and you will be more productive. And I promise you that.
Starting point is 00:01:22 And the last thing this week is I have been watching more YouTube instead of TV, watching things that inspire me, and it's been really nice, feeling motivated and feeling good for the week. Now on to the current obsessions. My current obsession at the moment is Whole Mill Club. lottes. Yes, whole milk. I am back in my whole milk era. And it hasn't been breaking me out lately, which is a really good sign. So I've been loving it lately back in my cow's milk era. Another current obsession at the moment is my fall Pinterest board. I have a fall Pinterest board called Falling for
Starting point is 00:01:57 fall. And truly, when I scroll on it and I look at it, it makes me just embody that fall seasonal spirit and I love it. My last career obsession right now is just decorating for fall. We're getting in this fall spirit. I just put out an episode about autumn inspo last episode and next episode will also be another fall one so stay tuned. But I know this is going to be our best autumn yet. Now on to the goal of the week. My goal of the week at the moment is to incorporate more calming exercises into my day. I've been struggling with, I'm not even aware necessarily of it, but subconscious. anxiety, a lot stemming from work and just getting things done, how productive I was, or how I want my future to be. And those obsessive thoughts can kind of lead you towards a obsessive path of thinking, where it's good to relax,
Starting point is 00:02:49 detach, and really just practice calming exercises into your day because everything is going to be okay and you just have to live in the present. Another goal of the week right now is to make a new dish with a new veggie and I feel like when it comes to dinners, I will cook the same things sometimes just because I love it but I really do want to try to switch up the variation of vegetables I get in my daily diet and lastly this week is I'm going to look into doing a little fall trip I really really want to go to Vermont or New York somewhere that just embodies that fall weather so hopefully I can take one soon now into the affirmation of the week I'm at peace and calmness with my life and am effortlessly achieving my goals I love that affirmation so much and I really recommend affirming that to yourself because this is the season where we embrace
Starting point is 00:03:38 that peace and calmness into our life and while still achieving our goals. Now on to the self-love question. What do you love most about providing for you? I love that question so much and I really recommend asking yourself that question. Now on to your challenge of the week. Plan a fall workday with a friend and go to a cute cafe that has little fall drinks, have a little workday or a catch-up day and just embrace fall together. I remember when I used to be in school and would have little work dates with even myself and just go to a little cafe
Starting point is 00:04:11 and get a pumpkin spice latte while I go on my computer and work. And it's honestly probably the only thing that came out of school that I loved. And without further ado, let's get into today's episode. This episode is on how you can improve your body image and gain confidence. Body image is something that is honestly not talked about enough. We hear about dieting. We hear about how we should be skinnier or look a certain way or we should have a bigger booty, bigger boobs, anything that we sometimes just don't have. And it can feel really defeating to just know that you're not looking like the Instagram model you follow or you don't have your dream body. And I'm here to tell you
Starting point is 00:05:47 that this is something that every single person struggles with. Everyone at least once in their life comes across body image issues or lack of confidence. And sometimes people live all their life, always having body image struggles and no confidence, which is really sad because the point of life is not to have the best body or have our dream body. So as I guide you through gaining confidence and loving your body, it's super important for you to remember that loving yourself and confidence does not happen overnight, and in fact, it could take years for some to finally love their body and gain confidence. It's so important to remember that there is not a due date to getting confidence. And everyone's relationship with their body is so unbelievably different than your relationship with your body.
Starting point is 00:06:38 It can definitely be hard to love the way you look when all you see on social media is post-pushing diet culture or obsempic or societal body standards, which are very much not. true. I like to think of bodies like a purse. I may love a Birken bag and you may love a Chanel bag. Both bags are beautiful and perfect and great, but we just have different preferences. The same goes for bodies. I may have a dream body and you have a dream body and they're both completely different looking. That goes to show that societal beauty standards don't matter. They are just preferences made up by people, there is not a perfect way for someone to look. With that being said, we all have an ideal body image.
Starting point is 00:07:26 Some of us may want to be more leaner and toned, and some of us may want an hourglass-daped body or an extra booty. Therefore, there is no perfect body because our view on what perfect is is all different. And there's no shame in having a preference to how you wish your body looked as well. There's nothing wrong with having an ideal version of your body, but what's wrong is pulling up pictures or videos from Instagram or TikTok and those girls bathing suit photos be your dream ideal body
Starting point is 00:07:55 because you do not live that girl's life. You do not have her jeans. You don't know what she's going through. You don't know her diet. You don't know anything because you don't live her life. So it's so easy to see a body of a girl in swimsuit on Pinterest and think this. This is my dream body and this is going to be my dream body goal. And that's fine to use somebody else's body as a form of inspiration
Starting point is 00:08:21 and the type of workouts maybe you want to do to achieve that style of body, but you can never expect your body to look exactly like that because there's so many different factors that contribute to that person having their body. As I was saying, it's okay to think of your own personal ideal body that in your mind is the version of you, not the version of the girl on Pinterest you're saying. But your own personal body, you can allow that to work as motivation towards your workouts and your health and to do what your body is healthily able to achieve. But with that being said, no matter what body you have or achieve, you'll always wish to have a different one.
Starting point is 00:08:59 We always want what we can't have. So when you achieve your dream body, you'll wish you at a different one. It's an endless loophole, which is why it's so crucial you have to love every stage of your body. You have to love it. And aside from what stage your body is actually in, vanity-wise, have you ever just stopped and think, why am I hurting myself? Why am I being so mean to myself?
Starting point is 00:09:24 Because my love, you do not deserve this. Obsessive thoughts, hating yourself, or just being fixated on your body or food or exercise, is sucking up the quality of your life. If you've ever experienced a true health scare or I've gone through a major health incident, then you understand this. but every single one of those people who experience a health scare or an actual health incident
Starting point is 00:09:48 begin to instantly see how small their outside problems really are once their health was at risk. You could be so obsessed with your body and what you eat, but one day when you have a health scare that has to do with your heart, you're in the hospital not caring one bit of what your body looks like or if you have the most perfect body or your dream body. All your problems that felt so big feel so small when you're healthy. is at risk. One of my favorite quotes, I think this is how it goes, but you have a million problems until you have a health problem and then you have one. And it's so true because when we
Starting point is 00:10:22 have a health scare, that means our life is on the line. And all we care to do is enjoy life. And you look back and you realize you being worried about your body of what it looks like is not enjoying life. So if your health is actually at risk, the last thing you're thinking about is how many calories did I eat? Do I have my dream body? Did I lose any weight? What you're thinking of is am I going to live? And God forbid, you were told you weren't going to make it? You're going to think to yourself, I wish I just enjoyed my beautiful self. I wish I wore that swimsuit. I wish I went to the beach with my friends. I wish I ate that piece of cake. I wish I loved who I really was. And most of all, you're going to wish you experienced life and not let your body image consume your life. I can't be the only one

Starting point is 00:13:41 But when that scare happened, all of my millions of problems I had and stresses I had about work and everything else felt. so small. All I cared about was, am I going to live? Am I okay? And once you realize you're okay, it's so easy to go back to let me go stress about those stressors again. But God forbid, if things didn't work out and you most likely weren't going to make it, you're going to wish you really just enjoyed those days of your life. You're going to want to have that quality of life and your your biggest regret is going to be not enjoying life. It's not worth it. It's not worth being so hung up on your body, thinking about everything you eat, thinking about exercise all the time, thinking about how you hate yourself. When I had that health scare, my stressors I had in my mind
Starting point is 00:14:30 were gone. Hopefully that gives you a little way to snap out of your head when you get too obsessive with your thoughts. But you need to start being kind to your body. How amazing is it that your legs get to walk? How amazing is it that your legs get to take you places? Your eyes can see the beautiful trees swing, your mouth savors the divine food, your body keeps it working for you to experience the beauty of life. How sad and disappointing it is that you decide to pick yourself apart and wish you look different when look at all your body does for you. Nobody is looking at you the way you look at yourself. Others perceive you the way you view yourself. If you take care of yourself and display how you have respect for you and love yourself, you will radiate that to other
Starting point is 00:15:19 people and those people will treat you the same. And let's say someone is judging you or says a rude comment to you. It's their own insecurity and they're unhappy with themselves. I swear on that. And let's say in your head you're thinking, okay, that's not the case and they're commenting rude stuff just because they hate you and they love themselves and aren't unhappy with themselves whatsoever. My answer to that is, so what? So what? It's their problem that they have a problem about you being happy, living your life, and you loving yourself and enjoying your life is all that matters. Begin walking into rooms, knowing yourself, and having respect for you. You wouldn't call your best friend or your mom ugly or fat or a rude name. So why would you call yourself that? We say
Starting point is 00:16:10 fall in love with ourselves or treat yourself as the person you love. but we do that in different ways by doing a little face mask or something. But the most crucial way to do that is talking positively to yourself and loving yourself. You wouldn't call your mom or your best friend a mean name. So why are you calling yourself this? I know I have so many business listeners in here. And I've seen some of your guys' work. You guys are insane with your own little shop.

Starting point is 00:18:05 even if they're not the healthiest. You deserve to live life. So stop. taking that away from yourself. Also, something that people don't realize is that their clothes sometimes cause body image issues. Stop trying to buy clothes in a smaller size and stuffing into them if it doesn't fit. You're not supposed to fit clothes. Clothes are supposed to fit you. So get some clothes that flatter your body and I promise you that will improve your confidence
Starting point is 00:18:30 drastically. Another thing is unfollow girls and people on Instagram and TikTok that you just follow to see their body or what they eat in a day because I've been. promise you comparison is not going to help you on your self-love journey. Begin following and consuming media that truly leaves you feeling uplifted and feeling good about yourself. And the same goes with food creators. Like I said, follow people who don't post dieting constantly because you need to let that mindset go. I promise you when you let that go, let the thought of food go. And I know it's hard. Okay, I'm someone who has experienced anorexia
Starting point is 00:19:06 before and recovered with an eating disorder. But let me just say, when food consumes your life, that's all you think about. And it's the worst feeling ever. But when you're finally able to let that go, you will feel so free and allow that positivity to come into your life. When you finally let go of toxicity and negative self-talk is when you're finally going to see your life change right in front of you. Remember, self-love and body confidence does not have to be. and overnight and we're all on this journey together. You only live once and you deserve to have the best life and love your body that provides life for you. Start enjoying the quality of your life and not letting your form of enjoyment be how skinny you are. I love you guys so much and I really
