Hello, dolls. Welcome back to the Busy Yet Pretty Podcast. I'm your host, Jane Haley. I hope you guys are doing
lovely as always per usual. I'm very excited for today's episode because this episode actually includes
you guys because many of you guys wrote into the show and wanting advice on things. So I'm like,
you know what, let's make this an episode to do a little big sis advice. Or if you are older than me,
than little sis advice, I guess, but you get the point.
I am very excited for today's episode, but let's first get into our weekly review.
So this week, I have just really been practicing consistency.
I have found it to be really helpful when I am consistent with things.
Like, seriously, I mean, that's a no-brainer.
But when I'm so consistent on certain things, just even little steps helps so much.
because remember, consistency of perfection is always key.
Another thing is I went to Salty Girl with my parents.
I took them to a new restaurant on sunset.
It's a really good seafood place, so we went and did that,
which I just love spending time with my parents.
My mom comes to town all the time,
and I swear every single time she leaves,
I miss her so much because she truly is my best friend.
Another thing this week is I have just been daydreaming about summer.
The past few days I've been laying up by the pool and when I tell you, I just soaked in that sun.
I did like the sun literally kissed me and in a good and a bad way because I got tan but I also got sunburned.
So you know what?
We can't always have what we want.
But I just was so happy to lay out by the sun.
It just felt so good and needed.
And I'm very excited about summer and just getting to enjoy nature.
Lastly, this week, I have just been prioritizing.
Recharging looks different on everyone.
And for me, it just looks like sleeping in an extra hour or two on the weekend,
just taking time to not be on my phone, just really doing things that will make me feel good.
So just recharging has been a very important thing for me this week and to just start incorporating it into my daily life.
Moving on to a current obsession.
So a current obsession for me right now is my essential oil diffuser.
I put it on every single morning with either lavender or orange.
Those are my two favorite scents.
I just love my oil diffuser.
I have it linked over my storefront over Amazon.
that you guys can check out if you're wanting one for yourself.
But when I tell you, I just am obsessed with it.
I am.
It's so much better than just spraying fragrances all around that have toxic ingredients.
So I just have been loving my oil diffuser.
Another current obsession is chia seed pudding.
Literally my favorites.
I love chia seeds.
They are so good for you as well as tastes so good.
when I add it with like honey and coconut milk, literally my favorite.
Lastly, another current obsession is my new aloe pieces.
I swear I have been loving aloe lately.
I'm wearing an aloe skirt as we speak and I just got the cutest aloe haul that you guys will be seeing soon.
I just filmed the video for it and I'm telling you guys.
I also got a pair of aloe yoga pants, which I hate to say it because you guys know this past
year, I have just been obsessed with my Victoria's Secret yoga pans.
If you know, like a year ago, I was posting them every single day.
Like, I seriously was in love with them.
But they have come to an end and I'm now obsessed with my aloe yoga pants.
They are literally just so comfy.
Honestly, very similar to the Victoria's Secret ones.
Just the material on the aloe ones are so much better and comelier.
But I just love them.
Moving on to a goal of the week.
So my goal of the week is just to cut down on screen time and be mindful on how much time I'm looking at my screen.
Of course, I have to do a lot of work on my phone and my computer, but really just trying to schedule out time to not be on it for free time.
Like, I'd rather spend my free time doing things like stretching or journaling, other things than just looking at a screen.
So that has been something I want to be mindful of this coming week as well as trying to get more daily steps in.
I swear when I get more daily steps in, I feel so good.
I want to tell you guys how bad it is my daily steps sometimes.
No, guys, I do not work out every single day.
If I'm going to be quite honest with you, I haven't worked out for like a good two to three weeks.
Like I do not work out every single day.
I will work out very sporadically.
Sometimes I'll be on a roll, but then work really just will kick in and I can't work out sometimes.
I just want to be honest and transparent with you guys so you guys don't feel bad about yourself when you guys don't have time to work out.
I am just going to try to incorporate at least one or two workouts this coming week as well as to get my steps in because sometimes I do not get my steps in, nor do I get a workout.
and for my health, it is really good to get a workout or daily steps in.
So that's something I'm prioritizing this week.
Another goal of the week is to learn more techniques on lymphatic drainage tips at home.
Every single time I was doing my lymphatic drainage at home, it would feel so good.
Overall, I'd feel a lot less water retention.
So that's something I really want to do this week is learn more tips.
Lastly, this week, I really want to do.
schedule. I have been really good. I feel like at scheduling the past month, but this week I just
want to continue my hard work and consistency of scheduling out everything because when you schedule
and not schedule too much, but schedule the perfect amount of realistic things you're able to do
in a day, it feels so rewarding and it allows you to actually accomplish things rather than
setting too much for too little of time and just feeling stressed out and not accomplishing anything.
So I just really want to continue scheduling.
An affirmation for you this week is, I achieve all I put my mind to.
I love that affirmation so much and journal it and really affirm it to yourself.
A self-love question for you to ask yourself this week,
What is my favorite trait about me?
I love that so much because it's so good to reflect and see what is my favorite trait about myself
and what do I love about myself?
Moving on to a challenge.
I challenge you to spend one day to catch up on all your work that you've been procrastinating.
I really challenge you guys to do that because when you just dedicate that one day as hard as it is
to just catch up on that work you've been procrastinating, I swear it will make a difference
in your mood for the next few weeks or however long time you just stay consistent.
It just takes a huge weight off your shoulders.
So I really recommend you doing that.
Lastly is a podcast review.
Lou Blue Eyes wrote in over Apple Podcasts.
So if you want to be featured on next week's episode, feel free to leave a podcast review over Apple.
She titled her review, Busy Listening to Busy at Pretty.
I love that so much.
And her review said,
Busy at Pretty has really given me a different mindset on life and has helped me on the journey to becoming my best self.
I've been listening since last August and I've been loving every episode.
Love you, Jaden.
Thank you so much, my angel.
the sweetest review. I'm so happy you found the podcast to be such a help for you becoming the best
version of yourself. And thank you for listening for almost a full year now. For the time you all
have been waiting for, let's get into today's episode, which is Big Sister Advice, Q&A, all of that
that you guys wrote into the show. And most of you guys wrote in questions over the Geneva group
chat, which is linked in the show notes.
And you guys also wrote in questions from the question sticker that I put on my
Instagram.
I received so many questions and so many responses, which I'm so grateful for.
I picked a few of my favorites, though, that I feel resonate to anyone and can resonate
to a lot of listeners.
So people can actually relate to them and feel similar to the same situations.
And I'm giving answers to the questions that were asked.
and maybe it may answer some questions that you may be thinking of.
I want you guys to become the best version of yourself.
And I feel like with doing this episode, it can really help you guys see different opinions
because let's say you may not have a best friend or you may not be close to your parents
or someone you can ask these questions to.
So I want to feel like a helping hand and like a big sister to you guys.
like an open book where you guys can get answers and advice just from my personal experiences that may
help you guys with your own situations. So let's get straight into the questions.
The first question is from Emily and Emily said,
Hi, Jaden. Can you please talk about things to do in the summer when I'm not financially stable
to spend lots of money on day trips going out or going on holiday slash vacation?
I finished school completely in June and I'm so excited for the summer, but I need cute things to do with my boyfriend and my friends that doesn't break the bank.
P.S. Been listening to your podcast for a few months now and I'm in love.
Every time I get a Spotify notification saying there's a new episode, I'm so excited to have a self-care night while listening.
The podcast really helped me with everything you talk about. Thank you, Jaden.
First of all, Emily, that was such a sweet response and I love how you told me what you do when listening to the podcast, having a little,
self-care night and I love how it's actually been such an impact on you. So thank you so much
for the kind words and support. But regarding your question, there are so many things you can do
that are not going to break the bank that you can do literally free of charge this summer
with your boyfriend, with your friends, or just with yourself. The first thing I want you to know
is quality time is a priceless experience and this does not cost a penny to be with someone.
If they live close to you and you're able just to go see them, you don't have to go pay money to go do this activity.
Quality time is priceless and many things don't require actually spending money to have a fun and meaningful time.
So some things you can do this summer with someone or independently, whether this is with your boyfriend, your friends, or just with yourself.
You can do a picnic, which is so fun.
Go grab some things from your cupboard, your fridge, or go to the store if you want to.
get a few little things to have a picnic and just go to the beach, go get a blanket,
lay out at the beach or on a cute grass field, have a little picnic, pick some flowers,
as well as yoga.
Yoga is such a fun thing to do with your friends or your boyfriend or just yourself where
you can put on a yoga video tutorial.
That's something to give a try as well as a closet clean out.
Clean out things in your closet, sell some clothes, and when you have a little garage sale or
list some things over Deepop or Mercari and use that money to go thrifting.
As well as have a little date night at home with your boyfriend.
It's so fun to cook at home and then light a candle, do some affirmations together, do a fun little Q&A.
Also, another thing that's really fun is that we're really not strangers cards.
That does cost money, but it is a nice little investment that you guys can always do.
So that's another thing you guys are able to do this summer.
The next question is from Natalie.
Natalie said,
Hi, Jaden.
Can I get some tips on how to keep motivation when under stress?
Me and many others will currently be coming up on one of the most important times of our lives so far.
The other UK girlies know.
GCSE season is coming up.
First of all, I'm not sure if I said that right.
Hopefully I did.
I'm not insanely worried about my exams,
but how can I give myself the extra push of motivation to keep working hard to study the next few weeks?
Much love, Nat.
I think it's so important to remember that the test results do not define you.
It can be so easy to stress about what you're going to get on the test and doing well.
So I think it's so important to remember that whatever happens, it does not define your worth or define you.
And I think it's really good to practice mindfulness and breathwork.
That's something that I found really helpful when I'm under stress, as well as prioritizing
self-care and independence because as much as you prioritize working and studying, you have to
prioritize self-care in your independence.
When you prioritize that, you will be able to recharge and work better.
That will prevent you from being burnt out, regardless of the output on the exam,
what's meant to happen will happen.
Just have a positive mindset going into it, but just
Remember the outcome does not define you and the outcome will also lead you to the place you're supposed to be.
But with that being said, good luck, my love.
You're going to do so well and I am so excited for your future.
The next question is from Anna.
Anna said, I'm in high school and next year I will need to apply to universities.
I like a lot of things, but nothing really passionates me.
How could I be sure about my choice?
P.S. I love your podcast and you were such an inspiration.
Thank you so much, Anna. That is so kind of you, first of all. Let me just say this is not advice, but this is just based off of my own experience. But growing up or coming out of high school, nothing ever called my name or stood out to me. That was a typical career that I would go study at a university or at school. What called my name was having a clothing line. And it definitely has to do with entrepreneurship, of course. But you don't necessarily have to go to school for entrepreneurship.
entrepreneurship. As of now, I'm taking the plan of being a content creator leading up to having
my own clothing line one day. But as well as being a content creator, I don't need to go to school for that.
So there was no point of wasting time and money when I knew what I wanted to do. And let's say you
totally do know what you want to do. Or let's say you don't know what you want to do and nothing
stands out to you at school. I want you to realize that the right career will come to you at the right
time. If you don't know what you want to do, then I would say take general courses of classes at
college so you're at least able to have a general backup in case you need it for the future
career you're going to have, as well as taking business because you can apply business to almost
anything. But let's say you do know what you want to do and it doesn't have to do with school.
For instance, starting up a clothing line and you don't really care to go to school for it.
You're able to do things without school. So don't feel like you.
you're rebelling the system not going. It's very normal and very okay and it's good to experience
things and see what works for you. And regarding what you said nothing feels right. I want you to know
that nothing will ever feel 100% right. There will never be a right time or right career.
Everything is trial and error and as you go, you will see what works for you. The next question
is from Kristen. Kristen said, how do I make meaningful connections?
I moved to a new city a year ago for university and I'm struggling to make decent friends.
I only have one true friend and I'm starting to feel like they don't even appreciate me,
which makes me feel sad because I am so cool and I deserve some sort of mutual appreciation,
especially with the people I have so much love for.
How can I make meaningful connections in a place that I don't even know how to really navigate?
Love you.
Kristen, let me tell you, you deserve love to be reciprocated whether that's a friendship,
a family member, your boyfriend, whoever it is, you always deserve to have love reciprocated.
You need to prioritize being your own best friend and being fulfilled by your own presence because
you will then attract those who have that same energy.
So become your own best friend.
And I actually have an episode on that recently.
And another thing you need to do is put yourself out there to join events, hobbies,
and classes that you personally enjoy.
that could be maybe yoga, Pilates, pottery, business classes, fashion club,
anything that speaks to you because you will then attract others who like those same things.
When you surround yourself in that type of environment of things that you like,
you'll find those who enjoy the same things that you do.
I'm currently sipping on my favorite thing right now.
My Element Mint Chocolate Electrolite Drink Mix.
Literally my favorite.
I'm obsessed with it.
I drink it every day.
Element contains a science-backed electrolyte ratio of 1,000 milligrams of sodium,
200 milligrams of potassium, and 60 milligrams of magnesium.
I love how this product has no sugar, no coloring, no artificial ingredients, no gluten,
and no fillers.
People don't realize how electrolyte deficiencies are very common,
and it can cause symptoms such as headaches, cramps, fatigue, and weakness.
As you guys know, I am very adamant of buying very clean ingredient products.
Elements are a perfect way to get daily sodium into your routine.
It can literally be for anyone.
As you guys know, I love to get a good sweat on at Pilates and at the sauna.
And after getting a good sweat out, it's so important to replenish your electrolytes.
So easy to incorporate in my routine, which I love.
You can try Element totally risk-free.
If it's not your thing, they'll give your money back.
The chocolate mint is a limited time sold-to-out flavor,
although their chocolate salt is just as good.
Just mix this flavorful electrolyte drink mix into your water bottle and you're good to go.
Thankfully, you listeners get to get a free Element sample pack with any order as long as you order through the link in my show notes.
So try Element and let me know what you think.
The next question is from Jesse and Jesse asked,
How can I gain confidence around other people?
Hi, Jaden.
I have completed my eating disorder meal plan for four months now and I am pretty much recovered,
but I still struggle with what other people think of me.
I often have nervous breakdowns when I'm out and I feel ugly in my outfit.
I think that the people in public will judge me.
I love fashion though.
I was wondering if you had any tips to be more confident.
P.S. I love your podcast and I admire your confidence.
Thank you so much for the kind words, Jesse.
And I just want to say I am so unbelievably proud of you.
Because I know what it feels like to have to go through recovery.
It is very hard.
And knowing the feeling of lack of confidence after recovery is so,
challenging. I have an episode on confidence that you are welcome to take a look at that I really
do think will help. But let me just say, nobody is looking at you the way that you are.
Everyone is into themselves and self-absorbed. So everyone is looking at themselves and not
looking at everyone else. Another thing is affirmations. Start doing affirmations on how you love
yourself and how you're confident that can really help. And also shop for wardrobe that you feel
excited to wear. You're not supposed to fit clothes. Clothes are supposed to fit you. And lastly,
remember that your body does so much for you and it's so beautiful and you should feel confident
in your body because you are literally living on a floating rock with everyone else. Everyone has
their own insecurities. So you are not alone and I promise you, once you begin to try to love
those insecurities, you will see a difference in yourself and how you feel about yourself.
but I really recommend checking out the confidence episode that I have.
Next question is from Nikita.
Nikita said,
Hi, Jaden.
What would be your top skincare tip?
My skin has been really weird.
Sometimes it's oily and acne prone.
However, it can be really dry as the seasons change.
Any tips are appreciated.
Girl, let me just say sometimes less is more.
And I know that is over said, but I promise you,
less can sometimes be more.
sometimes I will go to bed with just moisturizer.
I have found that regular seravet lotion on my face has been so helpful
and I would just be using that.
And then I started incorporating trinonoin,
Paula's choice BHA, exfoliator, a hydrating serum,
and then doing the syruvay.
Also, another thing to have a really nice snatch look is guasha after your skincare routine.
The next question is from Anna and Anna said,
How do you work through burnout?
I do competitions for drama at my high school.
It takes a lot of work.
Then after I go to the tournament for about a week or so after,
I can't bring myself to work on my piece.
I know I should, but I just feel so burnt out from the week before.
And it causes a vicious cycle of waiting until the last minute to do my work.
Any advice?
Anna, I am the queen of burnout and I know how it feels to have burnout.
And it is so awful.
Like, it makes you feel so unmotivated.
and you just can't work on anything because everything feels like it's just piling up.
Something that has been so helpful for me is forcing myself to take a break and recharge.
Even if you don't feel like you want to or even if you feel like all you want to do is recharge
and not do work and dedicate that time for strictly self-care.
That will allow you to actually work better and be more productive on working when you have that
dedicated time to scheduling self-care for yourself rather than just procrastinate.
Someone asked how to become more high vibe.
So I really want to work on having a higher vibe and energy.
But I don't know anything that can improve my day-to-day life on this matter.
Do you have any tips?
I would say positive affirmations are necessary.
Even if you don't feel slash have a reason to feel or be positive, positive affirmations are necessary as well as a cast check.
And you're like, what do you mean?
is like, what is a cast check?
What I mean by that is you are the main character of your own movie, okay?
You are the main character.
Look at the cast in your movie.
Who's the characters?
Who is serving you good and who is serving you bad?
Look at everyone as the cast of your movie.
Those who are serving you wrongly, you need to remove.
And those who are actually serving you positively, you need to bring closer.
Who's making you feel good?
Who's making you feel bad?
And lastly, incorporate things.
that you love the most into your routine every day and every week.
Another question that is anonymous said,
How do I keep high school friends after graduation?
I would say schedule time to catch up with them,
whether that's a lunch or a call.
If they don't live by you,
then I would say have a little FaceTime call with them every other day or so
so it feels like you're still connected.
Or if you do actually live in the same distance as them,
then I would say,
plan a little time to catch up or a lunch and that can really help you guys stay together.
Although I want you to remember who and what is meant to stay in your life will stay in your life.
So if it's not meant to be there in a friendship phase away, do not be disappointed because I promise you a new one is on its way.
Another question that is anonymous said.
My boyfriend struggles with mental health and it's impacting on me.
What do I do?
That is such a tough situation.
I would say do all that you can to show your support, but you need to continue prioritizing your own mental health.
A good example to remember is think about when you go on a plane and, you know, like the stewardess are explaining how the parents need to put their mask on first before they put the mask on their child because they need to attend to themselves so that they're able to help their child.
So you need to attend to your own mental health so that you're able to help someone else.
The minute your mental health begins to slip, you're not going to be able to help that person at all.
As hard as it is, really try not to internalize it.
The next question is from Isabella, and Isabella said,
How do you stay strong with recovery, being social media glamorizes eating disorders?
Also, I love you.
I love you too, but honestly, I feel like I've been through hell and back with my eating disorder.
And I know how hard and depressing life was during that time and unhappy.
there was no soul in me during my eating disorder.
So I feel like I just know how what I look like on the outside
is not worth risking my health and slowly dying.
And regarding social media,
there's so many people on social media
who also have eating disorders
that you may be looking up to them and wanting their body,
but seriously, they're struggling on the inside.
That is so common.
And I know, and I've seen so many people
where it's behind closed doors,
so just always remember that,
media is not what it seems like, nor is it worth to risk your own health just to look like
something on the outside.
Erica asked, hi, Jaden, I want to know how do I live without regrets?
It's so good to remember that it's all our first time living life.
Trial and error is seriously beautiful and I promise you it will lead you to where you're
supposed to be.
Nobody is perfect and the past does not matter.
What matters is how you plan to move forward.
can also turn your past as a key to navigate the future moving on.
Katerina asked, how do I deal with heartbreak?
I received so many relationship questions for this episode.
And honestly, I feel like that is just for a whole other episode.
So I will have to do one on it very soon.
But I do have a long, nice episode on heartbreak and relationships in the past that I really
recommend you listen to.
As you guys know, I'm always searching for beauty products that are made out of high quality.
ingredients and I came across this brand called Thrive Cosmetics, which is free of
parabas, sulfates, cruelty free and vegan. I tried out their liquid lash extensions mascara and let me
tell you it did not smudge all day long. If I had to choose only one makeup product to wear, it would be
mascara because I'm always just loving a pretty lash look. So every morning, even if I don't do a
full face of makeup, I'll just put on their liquid lash extensions mascara. The ingredients in the products
are not going to damage your lashes. They're actually going to help it look healthier.

That's Thrive Cosmetics, C-A-U-S-E-M-T-I-C-S-E-M-E-T-I-C-S dot com slash pretty for 15% off your order.
The last question is, do you have any advice for starting over after failure?
I feel horrible because I failed my university entry exam.
As I said, what's meant to happen will all.
always happen. I promise you, you're going to look back on this day and just laugh because I know
how bad it feels now and how such a big deal and disappointment you're feeling, but you're going
to look back and realize how this has led you to the most perfect point in your life. My eating disorder,
my experience being bullied, me not being a straight-day student. All those times at the time felt
like such a big deal. But now that I look back and I see those times, I am so glad I had those
times because it all led me to where I am today. And just remember, rejection is redirection.
Your test results is not your worth, okay? Be excited for the future because there is so much in
store for you. Failing your entry exams is the smallest point in your life that you're ever
going to have to think about. You're going to look back and realize how small of a deal it was,
looking at it from the big picture. I promise you, you got this girl, and you have such a beautiful
life ahead of you. I know these times feel hard, but you're going to look back and be so happy.
It happened to you and it led you to where you are now. I hope you guys enjoyed this episode.
I want to pick a few questions that I feel like can relate to almost anyone listening to this.
