Starting point is 00:00:10 Hello, my love. Welcome back to the Busy Yet Pretty Podcast. I'm your host, Jane Haley. To set the tone of what I look like right now, I am laying in my bed with my Earl Grey Tea with some whole milk in it, sipping it while recording this episode, which I'm very excited for because, oh, I forgot to mention, in a pumpkin mug. So today, we are just truly channeling fall, and I am so excited for today's episode. So without further ado, let's get into today's weekly review. This week I got caught up on doctor appointments. I had four doctor appointments in a little over 24 hours and that has to be the most draining thing ever.
Starting point is 00:00:50 Let's agree, doctor appointments are not fun but it's so rewarding to just check them off and be done with them. Another thing this week is I've been getting out the fall of decor. I am just in love with fall and decorating and I feel like this year we're truly just embracing the season. And lastly this week is I've been really trying to focus on de-stressing and just like, I'm just living in the present. I feel like we can get really caught up in stress with school, work, whatever it is, and it's so important to just decompress throughout your days to be able to
Starting point is 00:01:21 live in a less stressful mindset and to truly just enjoy living life. Now onto my current obsession. My current obsession at the moment is Gilmore Girls. I am obsessed with Gilmore Girls, and thank you to every single person who recommended it to me. It truly is the epitome of fall. Another current obsession at the moment is home goods. I truly could just live in home goods. Sign me up. I will sign the lease. I'm ready to go live in home goods. They just have the best decor for the seasons.
Starting point is 00:01:53 In my last current obsession at the moment is coconut water. Coconut water is so good for electrolytes. And it just has been my go-to drink, post-workout, and just throughout the day. Now on to the goal of the week. My goal of the week is to schedule an acupuncture appointment. I am really nervous because I hate needles. but I know it's going to be really good to help de-stress and just relax. Another goal of the week right now is to start my Pumpkin Spice Cafe book that I just ordered.
Starting point is 00:02:19 I'm really excited. And everyone said it's the perfect fall book, so I'm looking so forward to reading it. And my last goal of the week is just to truly enjoy the fall season, which we are definitely going to and definitely going to talk about today. The seasons just come up and go so fast, and it's so important to be present and really just enjoy everything about them so that is what we're going to do this fall now on to the affirmation of the week i'm relaxed and embracing the season with nothing to worry about i love that affirmation so much because of course we're going to worry about things but it's good to just affirm that to ourselves
Starting point is 00:02:54 and to just help lessen the load of our worries now onto your self-love question how are you going to take yourself on a date this fall i love that question so much and that is something that i really encourage you to do. Now for your challenge, buy yourself some fall flowers to put inside your room, your apartment, or your home. Buying yourself flowers is something, of course, I always recommend you do, and I always do it every single week or every other week. And it just brings such liveliness into your home, but especially just get yourself some fall flowers to go perfectly with the season. Now onto the podcast review. And I'm like, I'm just so grateful for you guys because you guys are my best friends. Okay, enough of the rambling and going off on a tangent. Let's get into today's episode, which is the perfect fall morning routine and night routine to embrace the season. It is fall. It is autumn. And it's time that we actually feel that. and we can feel it the best when we do that with our routine. It's truly just the best time of the year,
Starting point is 00:04:36 and this is going to be your best fall yet. Regardless if you are working attend this fall or in school, or if maybe you're someone who doesn't have the fall weather, such as myself, the fall weather here is 104 degrees at the moment. But my point of saying that if you have school, work, or no fall weather, you can still enjoy fall in the season to your fullest. You can still make it cozy, seasonal, and tax. into that fall spirit. Like I said, it is 104 degrees out in LA, but I am still drinking my
Starting point is 00:05:06 pumpkin spice latte. Okay, it has to be iced, but still, I'm still tapping into the fall spirit. Something I also do because it's 104 degrees at the moment is I will turn on the air and just blast the air to be so cold while I drink a warm drink in my apartment. I just crave the cold weather, and I don't have that, so I will make it happen somehow. Morning and evening routines shape the tone of your day and it's the best way to tap into the season as well. So let's begin to build the perfect fall morning routine for you and I want to preface this before getting into this is this is just inspo and you should shape your routine based off of your schedule and what works best for you. And maybe you have to get up very early on the weekdays because of school or work,
Starting point is 00:05:52 then maybe this can be your weekend routine for the fall. Again, whatever works perfect for you, but without doubt the fall months we are just embracing slowness. It is time to get cozy and comfortable because it is the slower month seasons. So to start off, let's change your blaring alarm clock that you have to a peaceful song to wake up to gently in the morning on a good note to start your day. So if you have a very loud alarm clock, go change it to a nice fall song, a jazz song, or even just pretty birds chirping, something that's going to make you feel not having a heart attack the minute you wake up in the morning. And as soon as you wake up, put on your fall playlist.
Starting point is 00:06:33 If you don't already have a fall playlist, go make one right now. Having just a fall playlist on hand can be so convenient for whenever you need to listen to it. So when you do homework, when you study, when you're at school, when you're working, or just cleaning the house, but go put a cute cover on it of some pumpkins or something cute and add the songs to it that truly make you feel like you're living in a cute cabin drinking a pumpkin spice latte. I know this is sounding like basic girl fall, but let's be real. We love to embrace the season. Once you put on your fall playlist,
Starting point is 00:07:08 hopefully you woken up early enough in the morning to give yourself enough time for self-care, but I really encourage you to read in the morning before you begin scrolling on your phone. Trust me, I am someone who picks up my phone the minute I wake up and I am trying to break that habit, but something that I found to be really helpful and something great to do in the fall is just get yourself a nice fall book. There is so many seasonal books on the market that give that fall vibe.
Starting point is 00:07:35 And like I said, I just got the book, Pumpkin Spice Cafe. And honestly, what can get more fall than that? And let's say reading is not your thing. Maybe when you wake up, journal for a minute. You can journal about what excites you this fall or what your fall goals are or how you feel. Just really encouraging you to not jump to your phone right away because again, what do you even remember after scrolling on your phone? I try to ask myself this question often after I do an endless scroll on TikTok, but I'm like, okay, let me try to recall three videos I watch. And most often, I can't.
Starting point is 00:08:10 It's very easy and fun to just scroll and there's nothing bad about doing it once in a while. But when we're doing it all the time and it's become our second nature, it can just become like a waste of, time and a waste of time we could be creating actual memories and progress towards becoming the best version of yourself. But don't get me wrong, we all love a time to just sit in our bed and scroll. But maybe in the mornings, take time to just read for a bit and journal a bit before getting into your phone. Now, daily movement is so essential and depending on your schedule, take time in the morning or the evening to take yourself on a walk while listening to a podcast, a podcast that makes you feel good, maybe busy at pretty or listen to your fall playlist, something that just
Starting point is 00:08:53 makes you feel good. Or maybe instead of a walk, go have a little Pilates workout. But regardless, a little movement every day is so nice and essential for your mental and fiscal health. I'm always usually a morning movement girl, but with the colder months, I always lean into more evening movement. So after I have my day of work, I will just head down to the gym and walk for a little. or I'll just do a little Pilate session. So for that, depending on works best for you, I really encourage some daily movement. After your morning movement,
Starting point is 00:09:27 it is time to make yourself a nourishing autumn breakfast. Maybe make yourself some cinnamon pancakes and some eggs or pumpkin muffins, maybe a little harvest quinoa bowl, or maybe you can just do it simple and do pecan chia seed pudding. Personally, my favorite fall breakfast is oatmeal with figs and cinnamon. It truly just elevates your oatmeal
Starting point is 00:09:48 so much. And then I love to add flax seeds and hemp seeds and a few other nuts, but it just tastes so divine and truly just tastes like fall. You need to begin romanticizing the simple things, even like breakfast. I always preach romanticize your life, but when it comes to seasons, you really better be romanticizing it. And like I said, for your breakfast, it is so nice to eat seasonal produce. So maybe go take a trip to the farmer's market and stock up on some nice fall produce. With your breakfast, make yourself a warm tea, a macha, or a pumpkin spice latte, or maybe just play it simple and make yourself a coffee. In your fall morning, eat your breakfast, light an autumn candle, and be present. Back to the talk of scrolling on your phone, it is very easy to just reach for our phone to just go on it while we're eating breakfast,
Starting point is 00:10:37 but do your best to try to take this moment to yourself with no temporary distractions. And let's say you are going to go on your phone. If you do, maybe just go on Pinterest because it's the social media. without the noise and the pressure and while you're at it make yourself an autumn Pinterest board visually seeing other people tap into the fall spirit with home decor or their outfits over Pinterest it can really make you excited and motivated to do it yourself if you were someone who is home most of the day put on a fall jazz landscape in the background on YouTube I promise you it's going to elevate your
Starting point is 00:11:13 home so much I said this in the last fall episode but basically you can go on YouTube and just search up landscape background music, something along the lines of that, but if you want it fall themed, you would search up fall landscape music. And it just gives you a gorgeous background of like a cabin with a cute pumpkin spice latte or a pretty cafe while playing music on that theme. And it just makes it feel so relaxing in your home. It's truly just so comfortable and cozy. Or you can maybe have just Gilmore Girls playing in the background, which is another
Starting point is 00:11:47 essential thing to have on your TV. It is... I can't be the only one who has this like dream item of theirs that they always see. Whether it's a bag, a sweater, a top, and you're like, I just need that, but it's like sold out everywhere. That's me with this one vintage Duny and Burke bag. Take that time to be peaceful, light a candle, drink your tea, and do an eye mask. Again, we're tapping into just relaxing, comforting ourselves, and taking things slow. After, when it is time to get dressed, pick out the perfect cozy sweater and boots,
Starting point is 00:14:31 or if it's hot weather like it is here, wear your cute linen dress and braid your hair, something cute to feel like you're wearing a fall outfit. And I really encourage you to try to get some new fall wardrobe pieces. And if you were on a budget, do not worry, babe. There are so many ways you can get more affordable clothing pieces and accessories. I find all my pieces at the thrift store. Truly have found my favorite items at the thrift store. And I always do.
Starting point is 00:14:59 I'm going to go this week again. but take yourself to the thrift store or take yourself shopping somewhere and get yourself some new fall pieces. If you're someone who is in school or working on their computer a lot, this is underrated, but take yourself to the library. Bring your headphones and listen to some music, dial in, and you can just sit there and work for hours on end. It truly is just an underrated place to do your work. And if you're not the library type, go do a cafe and get yourself a pumpkin spice latte and a pastry. and work there. I feel like just going to a cafe and working with yourself or even having a little work date with your friend can feel so fun and relaxing. And even though it's fall and we're embracing
Starting point is 00:15:42 the slower months, we are still going to be productive with our work and work towards our goals. Wherever you end up heading out for the day, get yourself a large bag that's like a neutral color, leather or pleather, any cute type of large bag that can work for school or work. It just looks so effortlessly cute. I have this large and I mean large bag. It's actually supposed to be a carry-on at the airport that I use for an everyday bag sometimes when I go to a cafe to go work. I have it linked in my LTK if you want to see how big it is but it is truly my favorite bag and it just carries so much in it so I really recommend just getting yourself a cute bag this fall and maybe just switch out of that you know backpack that you have and use the cute large bag to change things up.
Starting point is 00:16:31 The best part about being an adult is you can go according to your own schedule, so if you want to eat ice cream for dinner, you can. But sadly, adulting comes with many other unfun things like taxes and something else that's not fun is making your own doctor appointments. Starting point is 00:18:25 both cooking and baking and you may want to get started on a little sweet tree in the oven right after you get home so you have a good pumpkin or fall pastry after dinner if you do decide to do some fall baking light a candle get out your ingredients and be present it is the perfect time to just be off your phone and relax when you're baking because you're having to be hands on so really just take that time to decompress and be with your own thoughts if you didn't get any daily movement in that morning, then take yourself that afternoon or evening on a nice fall walk while listening to a podcast or an autumn playlist. Or maybe you can even meet your friends at Pilates. So even if it's the slow months, we are still prioritizing movement. To be honest, I would actually say prioritizing
Starting point is 00:19:12 movement more in the slower months because we're at home more and, you know, we're going to be taking time to have more downtime. Where in summer and spring, we're more out and about. So I really, really do encourage you to prioritize movement in the fall. It is now time for your shower and self-care and while you shower, I know this sounds kind of funny, but truly think of fall plans you can initiate with your friends or self-dates that you want to take yourself on this fall. Autumn is all about making memories, so maybe you want to take yourself or your friends on an apple picking date, explore a small town, have a little day trip, go to a pumpkin patch together, or have a little fall sleepover, there's no better time than to create those fall seasonal memories. After your shower,
Starting point is 00:19:57 put on a face mask and get out your to-do list and start checking everything off. So get started on your homework, planning out your schedule for tomorrow, or maybe just start working on a personal goal you have. By the time you're done working on that, it is time to get started on dinner. Sometimes I feel this and I know many other people feel this, but when we're cooking dinner and doing many other things, we are in a rush and a hurry. I want you to remember that there is nothing. to hurry for and nothing to rush for. Sometimes we just have the urge to cook fast or rush for no reason, so I want you to remind yourself that there's nothing to hurry to and enjoy the process. Cook dinner with someone special. It could be your mom, your dad, or your husband, or your roommate,
Starting point is 00:20:39 and it's a great way to just nurture that relationship with them while being present and trying out maybe new recipes. Once you're done cooking and have your finished product, get yourself cozy on the couch and put on the perfect fall movie or show. Dim the lights, get comfortable, and enjoy your evening because it's the perfect way to start, begin winding down. Once you're done eating, do the dishes and do yourself a favor by giving yourself a 15-minute house and room cleaning. There is nothing more important than giving yourself a 15-minute organizing before you go to bed because you're going to wake up with a clean space without the feeling of just having a crowded area with things all over the place and just keep telling you.
Starting point is 00:21:19 yourself, I need to straighten up and it's in the back of your head. So just getting it done in the evening is so nice and a great way to keep organized without having to always do a deep clean. Then once you get into bed with your fall blanket, put your phone on Do Not Disturb and read your fall book as you eat your fall dessert. And let me tell you, there is nothing more fall and relaxing and comfortable than that evening routine. Stop using the excuse of I don't have time to do this in my routine. I don't have time to do that. Or I'll start enjoying the season soon or I'll start doing little fall things in the next week or so. You can start enjoying it now. You don't have to do the full thing of decorating your home like crazy or having fall weather or having fall outfits.
Starting point is 00:22:04 It takes little steps you can do that can make you feel good and enjoy the season. It could be simply just changing your wallpaper to a fall cozy autumn wallpaper and that's going to give you some feeling of fall. So this is your reminder that you should not feel bad if the weather is not like fall or if you're going to be in school during the fall season or if you're going to be working the whole time because that's the basic necessities of life. Sadly, we have to always be doing something and we can't just, you know, chill our days at home watching Gilmore girls all day long all the time. We're all working. We're all doing things. But you can still enjoy the season while doing that. I love you guys so much and I hope you enjoyed the
