Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, my loves. Welcome back to the Busy Yet Pretty Podcast. I'm your host, Jane and Haley. I'm here with a very special guest, which I've had requests of this for a while now, and I feel like we have a very similar audience of like the girly girls, the feminine, like the self-care girls. So I would love to introduce Ms. Fernanda Ramirez. Thank you so much for having me.
Starting point is 00:00:30 I'm so excited. Like you said, I feel like we have very similar audience and even us, ourselves are very similar. Oh, I'm excited to it. Okay. So you have a podcast. better you and we have very like similar again similar audiences it's all the self-care of the girly girls please tell me all about it because like I we got to talk about it
Starting point is 00:00:47 okay so a better you is all about self-understanding self-reflection I feel like I really try to have a lot of my content be like based about like understanding yourself and like not only kind of showing the outside world like you know making yourself all dressed up and making yourself all beautiful I'm all for that but also like having that inner work be done and honestly just like healing has been a big thing on my podcast this past year and just kind of like I feel like I've even grown so much from making the podcast so it's kind of self-understanding love self-love I love that and I kind of what you said you feel like you've grown more since the podcast okay I feel like that's why it's so good to talk about things like even like okay some people go therapy
Starting point is 00:01:24 or go to like their mom or whoever it is but like a loved one but literally talking things out and makes you realize things where I'm like wait why was it why was I just my own therapist right now no literally No, I feel like when I started my podcast, there was a lot of, like, ideas and themes that I would, like, always think about, like, self-love and, like, confidence. But after, like, hearing, like, the back end or, like, the real, like, psychology on, like, how things work, suddenly they're, like, embodied now. Like, now I'm like, okay, I understand, like, what I need to be doing to, like, make it feel real and not just, like, you're just talking about something and it's, like, an idea, but you're, like, practicing what you preach. Yes. So that's a big thing. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:01:56 And it also is kind of, like, digging down deeper. And I feel like you talk a lot about, like, reflecting. And I do too and stuff. and we're almost like, of course it's hard to be like open and transparent about things, but again, if you're going to do it, it's going to, it could help thousands of other people. And like honestly, like, I'm sure you've received so many messages about your podcast and stuff. But like honestly, one story, one experience can just be so important. That's why I feel like transparency is very important.
Starting point is 00:02:19 I feel like we both do something that do really good at doing that. I also feel like the goal, I guess, obviously, is to be like the best version of yourself. Obviously, the podcast is called A Better You. We're all trying to do that. but I feel like also like understanding that the best version of yourself is going to look different at different times and like it's going to take time and like it's like a lifelong journey. I feel like even when I started the podcast, I was like I want it to be kind of like overarching theme so I can talk about like wellness or like fitness or whatever like anything that follows under like becoming the best version of yourself. But it's like always kind of like leaving space for improvement. Like we're not trying to just like be at the end line or like the finish line.
Starting point is 00:02:54 Yes, exactly. And I feel like that's so perfectly said about like that ties into balance. I feel like I am like someone who always thinks like balance is key and balance is like prioritized over anything because if you have an all or nothing mindset, you're going to do it really good for a second and then be done the next day. I feel like that's with everything in life, especially for just having which today's episode is going to be on a summer glow up, like spring into summer glow up for your mind, body, and soul.
Starting point is 00:03:17 It's all about what's going to be consistent and stick with you rather than fall off the next day. I know. I feel like sometimes I can even get in the habit of that. And I feel like I talk about that on my podcast too. like, again, like I said, like embracing imperfection or like embracing the process, but like I'm never one to be like, okay, this is how I do it. And like this works for me every time. I'm like very honest with like I can be scatterbrain. I can be messy. And I feel like almost when you have that kind of like maybe personality you can like relate to other people also that are like struggling.
Starting point is 00:03:41 When it comes to kind of like we're very similar when it comes to you the self care, the glowups, the just honestly becoming the best version of you, a better you. As some may say. And again, living out busy at pretty life, but also at the same time, it's like we want to figure out what works for us best and stuff. So getting into today's episode, we're going to talk about just a summer glow up, spring into summer, because it's still kind of spring, but also like springs, like when it comes to summer, it creeps up so fast during spring. Especially here. Oh, yeah. Because I was going to say in Vancouver, it's very much spring right now. Like, it is raining. It does not feel like summer. You can hardly feel like it's spring. What's the weather
Starting point is 00:04:17 right now? It's raining. Okay. It's just overcast. So must feel nice to be in LA then. Yeah. I feel like if I'm here, I feel like this is summer. This is not spring to me. this is summer. Even I guess you guys kind of feel like it's like an early summer. For sure. Yeah, but over there in Vancouver it's definitely spring, which I feel like it's kind of nice that we have like very like differentiated seasons because it's like, okay, spring like bring out the umbrellas. Like it's not fully summer yet. The flowers are blooming. Like it feels like its own kind of era. It gives its own like June gloom too, I feel like probably. It does. Yeah. Like my friend, like I'm just envisioning her and it's like when it's raining and gloomy she's always wearing like
Starting point is 00:04:49 bright colors and like kind of romanticizing the rain. And like even that in itself is like, you know, you're turning kind of maybe a situation that like other people would be kind of annoyed about into like romanticizing it and like feeling happy in it and like finding the good in it. 100% no I 100% agree. And I think it's like with living here I love it. But at the same time I'm like I want seasons. I've never seen snow. You need to go to Vancouver.
Starting point is 00:05:10 I know. I'm coming there. Please. We'll have like a girl sleepover. Yeah. Okay. Us three. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:15 Yeah. We will have our day. She's included in this. Oh, no, she is. 100%. The podcast girl is. Exactly. In the summer, I love to have a consistent.
Starting point is 00:05:27 consistency in my routine, especially with my health, since sometimes in the summer, I swear, I'm just, like, wrapped up in the plans and going to adventure and go places. And while all of that is great, it's still important to be consistent on your routines and your health, which is why I love AG1. AG1 is a daily health drink with a multivitamin, pre-in probiotics, superfoods, and antioxidants with just one scoop in eight ounces of water. It truly is so easy. I will just have a water bottle on the go, and then I'll just add my scoop of AG1.
Starting point is 00:05:57 and I love knowing that I am doing what I need for my health, but also not having to invest so much time into it if I'm busy. It truly just makes it so easy to have consistency in my health. Literally, I love AG1. My dad is such an AG1 guy. We all love AG1 here. Visit drinkag1.com slash pray to get a free morning person hat and free AG1 flavor sampler in your welcome kit with your first AG1 subscription and $82 value. That's drinkag1.com slash pretty. One of my favorite things for the spring has just been having a fresh manicure.
Starting point is 00:06:39 It just makes me feel confident and just put together and clean. But I think I love it most of all because of what I've been doing with my nails lately and that thing being using Olive and June. Sometimes I don't have time to go into the nail salon. And I'll be so honest with you, sometimes I just don't enjoy going to the nail salon. And sometimes I just want to do it at home. So lately, I have been absolutely obsessed with the Olive and June Manny system. You can literally do salon quality nails at home. It's clean, safe, and easy, which is perfect.
Starting point is 00:07:08 And it's designed for busy schedules. So if you don't want to go to the nail salon or don't have time, doing it at home can be so easy. I just love mine so much and just my nails feel so strong. Visit olive and June.com slash pretty 20 for 20% off your first system. That's O-L-I-V-E-A-N-J-U-N-E dot com slash PR-T-T-Y-T-Y-2 for 20% off your first system. So today's episode, we're going to talk all about how to become the best version of you this summer for a summer glow up. I love nothing more than a summer glow up.
Starting point is 00:07:43 And this is not just externally. This is mind, body, soul. So let's get straight into today's episode. So when it comes to what style we're embodying? I have my style I'm embodying. And like something that I think is so important is people have a aesthetic or a style that they kind of pick almost that they can lean on to as motivation. And for me, I'm like really going for this one style. but I think we're going for almost the same one, so I want to hear yours.
Starting point is 00:08:07 I'm very curious. Honestly, I have so many different inspirations. I feel like one thing that I really like to do when it comes to like style or like figuring out my own aesthetic is like having all my different inspoes and then like bringing pieces from like all of them. So then it ends up being more unique. And it's like it feels more you than rather than like just having that. But all those inspos are like what kind of helps you curate that.
Starting point is 00:08:28 So I have so many. I feel like for one, I'm doing my yoga teacher training this summer. Oh my gosh. I was waiting for the Y word. Yeah, yeah. Is it the yoga? Okay. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:36 So I'm going to be doing that. I'm going to be in Bali. And so having that in mind, that's going to be like my summer. I'm the summer of yoga this summer. Oh, same. So, yeah. We're on the Zen Girl TikTok. We are on the Zend Girl TikTok.
Starting point is 00:08:46 So like the 2000s yoga aesthetic, like it's just so in right now. And I love that it's in because I'm like, this could not be better timing for me. Exactly. So I. It's also really like really like actually calming too. Yeah. Of course we love the aesthetic in the style. But like it actually feels like, okay, we can like detach or our nervousism can heal.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Exactly. I feel like something that I've really been liking recently is like, the anti-polyester like workout wear. We love it. The, what are they called? Like, uh, like, uh, like, like, 100% are we talking about like the like 100% cotton? Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:13 Okay. I have my brandy ones on. Okay. The 100% of cotton like priscilla pants and stuff. I love. I just spent like 300 out brandy the other day because I'm like, I kind of stock up on all the styles and colors. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:22 But, um, no, I'm the same way. I'm like, I like love just watching like the 100% cotton halls. Mm-hmm. There's a brand called Indigo Luna. I don't know who you've heard of it. Yeah. So I have a few things from there. And one of my favorite YouTubers actually,
Starting point is 00:09:33 Your name is Hitomi Mochisuki. I don't know if you know her. But if you like that vibe, I'm putting you guys on because she is like my favorite YouTuber, but she is like yogi, earth, natural girl. And she did a collaboration with Indigo Luna. And so she's like always like my lifelong inspo. I feel like she's very spiritual, but she's like the creator. I feel like that like most inspires me.
Starting point is 00:09:53 Because it's like maybe we have dim or like we might have different content, but the idea is the same and like the underlying kind of principles or like morals are very similar. So I really like her vibe very natural very flowy. I love the look of like flowy pants that are like cotton with like flip flops and just kind of like you even like working out in like really short shorts but they're like cotton and like the sports brought and just like feeling free and like being okay that like if you're sweating or like whatever like just in body kind of like raw like raw like kind of that makes sense but kind of just like I'm envisioning like I'm in Bali like I'm not too worried about like if
Starting point is 00:10:26 things are wrinkling if they're getting wet like just kind of like enjoy my arm here honestly I like don't I used to shave my arms and I'm like you know we're really just buying like a free girl summer. Hell yeah, free girl summer. That's, that's the one. Wait, okay, I need to search her up though because I'm like, this is literally my, my wallpaper right now. Like my wallpaper is just a girl doing yoga. I'm like, that's like what I, that's my like, what I'm buying. Yeah, yeah. But, um, mine is that, but like in the, oh, it's a collage form. It's the collage form of that. Okay, I'm gonna, you're gonna be on my Pinterest board now after you go. I'm like, I'm really excited. Yeah. So when it comes to like, I'm the
Starting point is 00:11:01 same way. I'm like really trying to embody like the yoga style and everything. And to me, like, I love yoga and I love Pilates, both those things that bring me so much joy and happiness. And that comes from someone who used to hate working out. And to me, yoga, of course, it's like a lot of course strength, but it's also not like workouts. It's like to me it's like really just mind healing. So finding that thing that kind of makes you like, like, so when it comes to a glow up, finding that thing that makes you like happiness and almost like you can connect with your mind, body, and soul too is so important. And also I want to touch on what, and inspires us the most right now. Personally, for me, I'm just like, that inspires me. That style
Starting point is 00:11:36 really inspires me. But also, I've been loving just going on Pinterest and like it's almost like a scroll that's without the noise. So I really love that. And I feel like also being locked in, like you see, you see the payoff and you see the results of everything. So when it comes to like finding that thing that you love and stuff, like putting your energy towards that, you're going to get that in return. So if you're loving a certain style and stuff, start putting your energy towards it. It doesn't mean you have to spend $500 to get your wardrobe, but you can thrift things But not only that, it's all has to do with a mindset. It's like, I think the only difference between you and the girl in your Pinterest boards
Starting point is 00:12:08 is that she's showing up and doing it and you're not. It's like that's really the difference. It's like you don't have to have a burken bag in order to appear like you have that mindset or be that confident girl. You just have to show up as the confident girl. You don't need the burking back with it. Also, like the way you carry yourself, like tells like a thousand words, I feel like. Like if you're walking yourself, like if you're walking with your head held up high, like you like taking yourself seriously, I feel like that just shows up in, you know, wherever, whatever room you step in.
Starting point is 00:12:34 Definitely. Okay, really quickly on, when it comes to confidence, I feel like this is a really good topic, especially when it comes to a glow-up. I know, obviously, a lot of people throughout the summer, it can be hard when it comes to body image and stuff. So I would love to know, like, I kind of want to dive into body image when it comes to just confidence in the summer, because that's something where we're all, like, either, maybe we had a winter some.
Starting point is 00:12:55 Yeah, and we haven't been on our workout game or we haven't been on our, like, health game right now and that's literally fun. Like trust me, like I have like, we all have our slums and that's so normal. But it's also the importance of realizing we can't just hide all summer. Oh no. And we cannot think about anyone else. We do it for herself. So I really want to, like, I would love to know like what's your things that have
Starting point is 00:13:14 really changed you and the way of the confidence and like showing up for yourself, even for the days you don't feel good. For one, I think like obviously like with time, like an age, I feel like you kind of grow out of certain like mentalities. I definitely think like, and that's why I'm. so like empathetic with anyone like kind of struggling with this because I remember like when I was younger I was definitely like comparing myself online and like you know thinking that I have to like look a certain way to like do certain things and I feel like as I've like grown up I feel like sometimes
Starting point is 00:13:41 ideas just get old plain like plain and simple it's like I think that I'm going to prioritize having fun over like the way something looks oh yeah and I feel like recently over the past year that's been like a really big thing for me and it's just like thinking about how something feels rather than how it looks if it feels good then go for it and like imagine you're going to the pool you want to jump in the water, it's going to feel refreshing, you're going to have like watermelon after. Are we really going to like sit inside and like be like, oh, I don't know, I don't know how I feel about it. You can't get time back. And of course, like that's first step to like go out there and do that is going to be hard instead. But remember, one, you're not going to change. Like even if you're like,
Starting point is 00:14:14 okay, I have my body goal or something or have my health goal. That's fine. That's good to have. But at the same time, one, it's not going to happen overnight. You can't think, okay, once I hit this look or this health goal, then I'll start doing, putting myself out there. It's like, babe, what if you never reached it? Yeah. Like, where are you going to do, live your life inside? It's like, no, you have to go out and do that. I also think it, like, the people that you spend time with and the people that are around
Starting point is 00:14:37 you are, like, a huge influence on, like, how you feel about yourself and, like, how you act. Even if you're, like, not thinking that they affect you a certain way, I remember when I felt the most, like, self-conscious or, like, insecure, I was around people who maybe weren't outright saying things to me, but it was, like, maybe the expectations they had on themselves, maybe the things they consumed. And then I felt a certain way, like, just being around them. So I would say like really focus on who you're who's in your circle who's around you and like spending time with other girls that feel free and are trying to do that.
Starting point is 00:15:07 Exactly. Like we said like a free summer. Oh my gosh. Exactly. And like what you said about the circle, like your friend group and like who you spend your time with is so important because it's kind of like the infamous quote. But like if you hang around for people who are negative, you're going to become the fifth. Yeah. It's like honestly it's true.
Starting point is 00:15:22 If you hang around for negative people who hate themselves and who also put you down, you're going to do the same. to others and you're going to do the same to yourself. It's like you're going to become the fifth person. So it's like really important to think, okay, even if I'm not secure myself right now, who like shows up as a confident person? I'm going to put myself by those people and that will shoot that will, if you put yourself with four confident people, you'll become the fifth. I like really think of one of my friends when I think about like summer body confidence,
Starting point is 00:15:47 whatever. And she's always so like, like her mentality is like let it loose. I love that. Just have fun and like just like enjoy. And whenever I'm around her, like that energy just like comes on to me. Like I feel like, you know what, you're right. I will go jump in the water. And it's okay if my hair is messy.
Starting point is 00:16:01 And like things like that, like I just feel like being around someone that has that kind of energy is like, I don't know, really impactful on me. So I would definitely say final consensus is make sure you're around the right people. You know, there's, I'll say this as well kind of like a side note. But I remember one time, like I was so many years ago, I was like sending videos to my friends being like, oh, I'm like, I don't like the way I look. I don't like my hair. I don't like, whatever.
Starting point is 00:16:23 I don't know what I was saying. But I was whatever. And one of my friend was like, maybe. Maybe you should just like stop looking in the mirror. Maybe you should just like go outside. And you know what? For a second, I was humbled. I was like, oh, okay, geez.
Starting point is 00:16:33 Wait, maybe I'm too obsessed with my daughter. Yeah, I'm like, oh, wow. But like, it was the reality check that I needed. I'm like, there are things more important than the way that you look. And like, maybe just stop looking in the mirror. And that is hard when we are like on our phone so much or like on our screens. But like as somebody who does this for a living, you are still able to kind of detach yourself or at least detach the importance from like your looks or whatever to your worth. Like that has nothing to do with your worth, with your ability to have fun with like your summer plans.
Starting point is 00:16:56 Like that has nothing to do with that. So, 100%. Spring and summer, 2026, we are feeling sexy hot in the way that we look and our energy.
Starting point is 00:17:03 Yes, 100%. And I could not have said it better myself and exactly what you said. It's like what we look like on the outside. It's like sometimes we're like so, we're the only one
Starting point is 00:17:11 picking ourselves apart. No one is thinking, okay, your hair looks weird or you have this one like thing. It's like no one's thinking. We're thinking about it but it's ourself. It's normal.
Starting point is 00:17:20 We're seeing ourselves the most in the day. But think about this. It's like you're the person you're going to spend your entire life with the most out of anyone. Like, why would you want to be mean to the person where you were born and you spend the, you were born and you're going to die with yourself?
Starting point is 00:17:32 So why would you want to be mean to someone you're going to spend the most time within your life? Yeah. I also think that the way that you speak to yourself, like, really shows up. And I saw this, I don't if it was a quote or like a saying, but like what you practice in private shows up in public. So like if someone is glowing in public and you see them walking around with confidence, it might have taken them like a long time or like a lot of internal work to get there. But I feel like I'm very mindful of that. Like I don't want to speak badly about myself because I don't want to like kind of bring myself down or like, you know, know, look heavier. Like, I really believe in, like, your energy and your aura. So it's like,
Starting point is 00:18:00 I don't want to have that energy out there. So it's like, if I don't want that energy, you have to be really careful with, like, what I say, what I consume, how I treat myself and how I let others treat me. Yes, 100%. It's like, truly, it's like, okay, I don't have you seen, like, the example before, but if you talk to rice and it's like, it gets like bad and stuff, but it's like, it's true. It's like, if you talk to yourself bad in the mirror, it's like, you're only going to see yourself as not beautiful. You're not going to see yourself as you love yourself. And that's normal. It's like human nature. If you talk to something negatively, they're not going to feel good in results.
Starting point is 00:18:27 So why would you expect to yourself to feel good? My mom is huge on that. She's always talking to my plants. Oh, I love that. She's like, you're going to grow. And you know what? They're always growing. They're flourishing.
Starting point is 00:18:37 Yeah, they're flourishing. Yeah, they're in the whimsy era. Yeah, how can the flower be upset when someone's just like, oh, you're so pretty? You're nurturing. Exactly. Okay, when it comes to our summer goals, so right now for summer, I'm really just trying to lock in on consistency over perfection. I think it's super important because, again, the all or nothing mindset will take you out
Starting point is 00:18:54 faster than a wave. it's really important to find goals that truly align to you and they're not goals because they're the typical goals where it's like you see other girls are walking 10,000 steps a day so you're going to put that down but more of okay what do I want for myself personalized to me so I want to know when it comes to spring and summer personally like my goals right now are just to be consistent even if I have an off day it doesn't mean I have to have a full reset day and that's really important and stuff and I of course have been practicing that for a long time now but even I'll catch myself doing that where I'm like oh today like I just had a slump day and so
Starting point is 00:19:25 which means tomorrow I need a little more extra energy into working harder or being more productive. But it's like, you know what? That's only going to lead me feeling ragged the following day. So it's important for me to just have the day as it was, be thankful for the day I had, and then move on the next day and just start fresh. So I'd love to know kind of like what are you some of your spring, summer goals? For one, that's a huge one for me too. I definitely think I need to work on like consistency.
Starting point is 00:19:49 And especially for me, I think that comes with my like job because I feel like sometimes it's easy for me to be like, okay, I'm focusing on my health. I'm going to go all in and like working. It's like, I forgot that I forgot that I forgot that I forgot that I want to go see my friends. So like definitely just feeling balanced in like all the different aspects of my life. But I think a big one for me right now is like I'm in a locked in era for the spring. Oh yes.
Starting point is 00:20:11 So I kind of just want to like execute the things that I have in my head or the things that I'm going to say. Like I don't want to just say things and then nothing ends up getting done. And I feel like acting with a little bit like more certainty and like direction and just like clarity and confidence. Intentional. Yeah, like just like being like if I if I want something I'm going to do it. I'm not going to like leave it up to the universe's hands to make that happen for me. I feel like being very proactive and like something that I really am inspired by by like some of these like business girls or just business people in general are like a lot of the top people.
Starting point is 00:20:42 They're really fast at making decisions and they're very like efficient. They respond quickly. And so like I just want to be like more on top of it, not let things like fall down the cracks. And then when things don't happen for me, it's like, oh, I've got to prevent it that. That's me with my text messages, which are really random. But I used to always, like, whore them. And like, okay, I'm going to answer all once in the month and stuff. Or I'm like, now I'm like, I heard like some of the most successful people answer their texts right away. And I'm like, okay, I'm going to start answering my texts right away because I want to embody that mindset.
Starting point is 00:21:08 So I fully agree with that. Yeah. So that's the vibe this spring. And I feel like when you kind of like put yourself in that mindset, like, okay, this next spring, I'm going to be locked in. It's so much easier to act as that version of myself rather than like when I'm forcing myself to do something. and it's like I'm not even in that mentality. Like when I'm just trying to have fun and it's like, oh, why am I not locked in? Girl, you're not locked in.
Starting point is 00:21:25 You're not locked in. Exactly. Sometimes like the biggest thing to do is like, okay, you have to stop and reflect and be like, okay, what is happening wrong in my life? You know, my life is not bad. Okay, I'm like, you can think your life is horrible and it doesn't matter. You can start from actually zero. You can have no house, no nothing.
Starting point is 00:21:41 You can be living without anything and stuff and still find the positivity and stuff. It's like majority of people who are successful or, and what I mean by successful, not by just money. I mean like happiness in their life and everything, but in career, everything. But they didn't come from Seth, majority of people and seven. A lot of people had to work for their way from the ground up. The only difference again is taking action and not. So it's like you don't have to start from being a nepo baby. You don't have to be wealthy. You don't have to have any of that. You can just start from where you are now and work your way up. I also think that depending on like where you start, like you might have a perspective that like
Starting point is 00:22:13 somebody else doesn't have. And that gives you like maybe that grit to like try a little bit harder or like work a little bit like in in a different way or more efficient than somebody else. Like we all have our strengths and weaknesses, but it's like if we don't even try, we don't even, we can't even unlock that version of ourselves. When it comes to a glow up motivation, I want to know what's motivating you to glow up the spring. Of course we're, we're always in our glow up air. We're always just feeling good about ourselves and everything. But it's important to see sometimes if we need that little push and stuff, what are some things that motivate you? Like I said, like Pinterest really motivates me picking a style that like inspires me or like,
Starting point is 00:22:43 for instance, even if you see a girl or like an influencer or your friend and somebody and you're like, okay, I love what they're doing. I love that they're happy with themselves. I want to achieve that. It's like almost turning to embody, okay, what do they do throughout their day? What makes them feel good? Maybe positive self-talk and stuff. So what really makes you motivated? And this is for like a glow-up. This is for like a summer glow-up. Honestly, I don't know if this is maybe the answer that you're looking for. But I'm going to say like, I think at the beginning of the year, New Year's, you know, we're all doing our vision boards. We do a little self-audit. We're like, hey, where do we want to be next year? Whatever.
Starting point is 00:23:14 I feel like I have a very clear image of like where I want to be by the time I'm like 26, like two years from now. And so really like I feel like I'm just trying to be that version of myself. Like obviously you're acting in like your highest self. And I'm like, what does that person want? Like I want to be fit. I want to be like I want to have something to say. I want to feel like intelligent. I want to feel like confident.
Starting point is 00:23:34 Like what are the skills that I need to practice in order to be that version of myself? And I said at the beginning of the year like I want to work out like five days a week. That is like a goal for myself. And after the first month, it became something that's like a habit. like I really enjoy doing. And in fact, I feel kind of like, if I don't do it, I feel like, where's that thing that I love doing? Like, it generally becomes something that you enjoy.
Starting point is 00:23:52 And like, you know, if you're having your matcha every day, when you don't have your matcher, you're going to be like, where's my match? It becomes a part of your routine. It just feels like a staple. And I guess I see myself through different influences. Like I said, there might be one that is very, like, holistic and yoga and self-care and, like, internal world. I see another one who's, like, super ambitious.
Starting point is 00:24:08 She is always thinking about what's next. She is maybe, like, chasing her version of success. And those two versions are, like, completely different. people, but if I just take a little bit from like all of my inspos, then I kind of have, I feel like, my most balanced version. I love that so much. And that really comes into when it comes to talking about not trying to replicate and take a blueprint from someone else's routine because being someone, of course, being someone else, but taking else someone's routine and stuff is not going to work necessarily for you. It won't. It's like picture perfect things.
Starting point is 00:24:34 It's like what works for me. It won't work for you back and forth. And like we can't expect for that to work for us because we're not that person. But kind of what you said, like picking what works for you from different things. Like, for instance, like, you like things from business and then from like yoga, it's like if I see things on like Pinterest, like I love like whimsy style, but I also love like business, of course. And then I'm also going to pull like from, you know, some maybe like, I'm like really like interested in kind of like future houses and everything. So I'm like, I'm also going to pull it from like things up building my house and like financial stuff. It's like, okay, thinking and pulling from all those things and motivation and stuff, it really just builds
Starting point is 00:25:08 and curates to you personally. And I love that. But that's kind of I feel like what we're going to be talk about too on your episode as well. But really finding that like thing that's personal to you for your goals. And when it comes to a summer glow up morning routine, I feel like of course depends on the person depending on their schedule and everything. For me, again, it really just comes down to what works best for me that day. But again, you're going to wake up some days and be like, I don't want to work out. But it's about setting yourself up to have that success to work out or to perform your best because you can't follow out what you need to do based off your mood. You have to do it with your habits. So like for instance, if I want to start, like, one of the things I want to start
Starting point is 00:25:45 doing is working out more and stuff. So I got into a little slump and stuff with the winter. I'm like, okay, I want to get back onto how I was doing in the very beginning of the year. So for instance, what I'm doing, I'm like, okay, I'm laying all my stuff out. And that just to me, it's like, okay, when I wake up and I'm like, I don't want to work out today. It's already laid out. It's right there. The shoes are there. The workout outfit's there. So all I have to do is put it on. It's like, even if I show up five minutes, I'm like, I'm already dressed. I might as well show up more. You know. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:10 Even when I just put workout clothes on, I like even do my work faster. I'm like, yeah. I suddenly feel like I can like move faster. Oh, yeah. Just get out of the pajamas. We're feeling like, we're feeling like, suddenly I want to take on the world. Exactly. Okay.
Starting point is 00:26:21 So I want to kind of know what's your summer motivation routine that you've been loving. Okay. I usually in the summers I wake up a little bit earlier just because it is naturally sunnier. And because Vancouver doesn't get much sun, it's like you got to make the most out of every sunny day. Like the minute it's sunny, everybody's outside. So honestly, I was going to say like there's two things. one, I feel like just based like routine things. I love like an ice rolling.
Starting point is 00:26:42 I love guasha. I love like doing those things that feel like a little bit of like five minutes before you even go to your workout. I just like feel good. I feel snatched. I feel like, okay, I'm ready. It's kind of like another thing that feels like the workout clothes. It just makes me feel like put together.
Starting point is 00:26:54 And it's something that's like really easy to do that can kind of feel like a ritual. And even that actually, like thinking about like certain like beauty or self-care like, what's it called like things that you got to be doing. But thinking about them as like rituals. Like this is something that I'm doing. doing for me because I love me and like I take this time for myself maybe I play music at the same time like making it a whole like not just like someone online told me to guasha exactly it's like making your own thing printing it 100% make it personal to you 100% and the other thing I was going to
Starting point is 00:27:23 say was just like getting outside just get outside put a nice outfit on and like see where the day takes you I don't want to be inside actually I'm going to be outside whether it's on my yard whether it's my patio whether it's the beach or like a lake I'm just trying to get outside because those opportunities are not going to come to you from inside a lot of the times Even getting out and just getting sun for like a few minutes. It's like that's so important. We need the vitamin D. We do.
Starting point is 00:27:43 And like honestly it's like sometimes I used to be really careful. I'm like, okay, well, I'm not going with sunscreen on. I shouldn't be the sun. But I'm like, okay, this more like I'll wake up in the morning. So I'm like, okay, I'm going to go outside. Soak in the sun, no sunscreen, no nothing. Just like enjoy it. It's like it's okay if I don't have SPF on me.
Starting point is 00:27:57 Like the world's not going to end. I'm not going to have a skin problem just for doing that for a few minutes every day. And stuff, it's like it's okay. But the overthinking sometimes also is like one of the number one killers. and stress, like, stress inducers and stuff. So it's really important to kind of feel, okay, what do I love throughout my day? What's, like, the little things and trying to incorporate those into the day. Yeah, I also feel like, like you said, we're kind of on the whimsy vibe these days.
Starting point is 00:28:18 We are. So, like, you know, what's actually my friend, she, maybe this is like a little plug for her, but, like, she does, like, a snail mail subscription. So, like, every month she's, like, sending off, I don't know if you guys haven't heard of this idea before, it's basically like a monthly newsletter and it comes with stickers and it comes with, like, a postcard, whatever. But one of the things that she, or, like, her. her last letter was on creating a whimsy life for yourself.
Starting point is 00:28:40 And one of the stickers that she had was like, I choose the path most whimsical. Oh my gosh, it's so adorable. That might be the energy that we're trying to embody in the spring too. Just kind of like, if you're going to go outside, maybe take a different walk to your favorite coffee shop. Maybe try a different drink. Maybe, I don't know, go meet up with a friend and go to a new workout class.
Starting point is 00:28:57 Like just trying something new. I also feel like when you do the same things all the time, the days can just pass. Like everything just feels like, wait, why is it suddenly September? Like I thought summer just started. So like doing different things and like trying new things getting outside of your comfort zone I feel like can be really fun and kind of the vibe for spring and summer whenever I at least in Vancouver like because it's always raining when it's sunny I'm like the world's my oyster oh the world is our oyster a hundred percent okay now when it comes to summer evening routines to me like again like I it's all about what works best for you and stuff but I try to be out in the summer and not like I'm personally like I'm a home body in the way of I don't like to go out to like bars it's just not my thing as much like I like to go to okay I have been loving like I'm like I've been loving like I'm like I'm a solo date dinner. So like I'll take myself to like a lunch or like a date or something. I'm like, I just love it and I'll come home and like have my like dessert at home and everything and stuff.
Starting point is 00:29:44 But I want to know like kind of like your summer evening routine. And personally if like I don't go out and stuff because I usually will just stay home. Like that's kind of my thing. Like I like just like have my nice routines at home and stuff. But like sometimes I'll just like order takeout or I'll cook a healthy meal at home. And then I'll put like on a show. And that's like something I've been treating myself because I used to for like years. I didn't live with the TV. I'm like, okay, I don't want to live with the TV. I don't want to be distracted by it, but I'm like, okay, a few hours a night. Like, if I put it, like, it on for, like, an hour and a half a night, like, that can be
Starting point is 00:30:13 something where it's, like, even it's not, you know, great to have so much blue light or things on your phone always. But honestly, if it's feeding your soul sometimes, like, take that time. It's like, it doesn't matter. Things don't always need to be productive in your life. Like, hobbies don't need to be productive and stuff. So, like, I'll have to just sit down and do a hobby and stuff, too. I also like that, or something, I don't watch many TV shows.
Starting point is 00:30:34 For sure. Just be, I don't know why. I have my attention. and span kind of. I have a phone scroller while the TV's on. But something that I feel like I always think about when I see other people talking about like their favorite movies or their favorite shows. I'm like, I wish I had something to say and I just don't have anything to say on that. So like honestly, I feel like if you're watching the show that like everyone's watching, you're watching the show of the summer, you're watching something that like all your friends are watching. That in itself is like a
Starting point is 00:30:54 fun conversation starter that like gets the groove going with all your friends. Like you can watch it kind of like if it was like a book club or something. But like a show kind of like you're watching every week. You guys can debrief. You can host something for your friends at home. That's just kind of like a side note, but I feel like, you know, watching, watching something online. Like I don't even see as like an unproductive thing because it might like feed your, the social aspect of your life. I love that. Definitely. See, it's like such a great way to look at it. And there really is something always beneficial in something. Yeah. But wait, okay, on books, are you reading anything right now?
Starting point is 00:31:21 Let me think. I. Or what's the last thing you read? Oh, I've only just started it. The book I picked up recently is called Women Who Run with the Wolves. Have you heard of it before? No. So it is like all about the different like feminine archetypes. I feel like you'd be all over it.
Starting point is 00:31:36 Oh, wait, I'm going to. Yeah. So that's, like, supposed to be, like, a, like, I don't know if it's, like, a classic, but, like, I always see, like, people talk about it. Like, you need to read this. Be, like, this, like, full dimensional, like, person. And not just being, like, pleasing to someone else or, like, like, accommodating. I feel like, as women, that's, like, something that's, like, often expected of you
Starting point is 00:31:53 or, like, they expect you to be a certain way. But, rather more, like, letting yourself feel all the emotions. Like, if you want to rage, you can rage. If you want to, like, cry, you can cry. Like, just letting yourself feel. and like I think it tells kind of the, or it gives you inspiration to kind of embrace this like feminine version of yourself
Starting point is 00:32:08 through different like short stories. Oh cute, okay, we have to look it out. I'm really interested in reading it. I feel like that'll be a good vibe for my son. Definitely. That's another good thing. Like books can really help you also find things that you love and that can be like a Pinterest
Starting point is 00:32:19 and a style itself where you can be like, okay, I love like, for instance, if you read even a fictional book, you can be like, oh, I love this character and how confident she is. Like I want to embody that and I want to like take those traits and stuff and take that as like inspo into my own life or like what someone else is doing but also like for instance
Starting point is 00:32:35 like self-help books they can do such wonders one of my favorites is the mountain is you i'm sure you i did an audiobook okay it's so good that's like such a good one and stuff for it's like there's so many like good self-help books that can honestly be its own like motivation to you when it comes to summer are we channeling a more whimsical or locked in summer i'm half and half i don't too balance yeah we're balanced because i'm thinking like okay it's logged in spring but my summer's gonna be yoga. So I'm like I'm locked in now so that I can kind of like enjoy the fruits of my labor when that's done. So like I'm gonna be whimsy halfway through the summer and just have fun and not think so much about like work. But like right now I'm gonna be a little bit locked in.
Starting point is 00:33:12 And I almost think like the the whimsy is almost more fulfilling after you lock in a little bit. And like it doesn't have to be like I'm thinking in like seasons or like in months. But like you could say like okay I'm gonna do like maybe I'm gonna do like maybe I'm gonna do like maybe I'm gonna do like something. know, like work on, I don't know, something, something you're working on, your creative project, like something in the morning that's, like, productive, and then at the end of the day, you're treating yourself, or, like, you said, you have kind of, like, your dessert at the end of the day. Like, I feel like, obviously we're channeling balance, but, um, I was going to say the whimsy or, like, the fun almost feels more fulfilling after you've done something that, like, it doesn't necessarily need to be productive, but, like, feels fulfilling. For sure. No, I love what you said,
Starting point is 00:33:48 though, about, like, kind of, like, treating yourself and almost, like, enjoying the fruits of your labor, because when it comes to, like, for instance, if you're given a car, it's going to feel so much, it's, it's, okay, If you're given a car versus you working hard for years and then buying that car of yours, it's like, of course, it's going to feel great if it was given to you, but nothing feels as good as when you actually worked for it. And so, of course, like, we don't want to have to take the time to work for it. But I'm telling you, once you do that and work for something and almost set that goal and get that reward at the end, it's going to make it so much easier and be one of the biggest
Starting point is 00:34:17 motivation for you for, like, goals in the future. Yeah, I also think that that's how like real confidence is built. So like, as we were talking about, like, confidence in the summer or just like going into like, you know, summer when people can be at less. confident. I feel like your dream body will be accomplished after you like put in the work in whatever that means to you. Like it can be like, oh, I want to walk more or I want to stretch more. I'm sure 30 days from now, if you kind of like lock into even that, you are going to feel so much more flexible. You're going to feel so much more fit. Like your cardio health is going to be out. Whatever the goal may be,
Starting point is 00:34:44 you're going to feel so much better after you put in the like actual work. Definitely. No, it's all about kind of the afternoon that itself, like that success gives you the best motivation for the future. Okay, when it comes to daily summer non-negotiables, something I've been loving right now is dry brushing. My skin is so soft and like it can just also just make you look more toned and everything. I love that and also just having something that I look forward to every day. Macha, but then also when it comes to a solo hobby, I've been loving like water coloring or even just like taking time to go like, I'm going to start my garden soon. I'm excited about that. But I love to know kind of what's your daily non-negotiables for summer.
Starting point is 00:35:18 On the same wavelength of kind of like what you're talking about, I am a big lymphatic drainage girl. I love lymphatic drainage. I have my oil. I've got like the wooden tools. same and I love stretching so I'm like stretching every single day is like huge for me and then doing the lymphatic drainage I feel like it has made the biggest difference in my overall like appearance or like energy I feel like I used to feel when I didn't have this kind of like habit or routine like a lot puffier or like inflammation and I just feel like after I kind of took the time to do that for myself I like it's all the biggest difference definitely no it's like on taking that time for yourself and also it's like again remembering things don't happen overnight yeah
Starting point is 00:35:51 when it comes to hobbies and solo dates I've been loving taking myself out on just like to little like and restaurants. I also love going to like book stores, just browsing books. And another thing I've been loving is like going to like ceramic pottery painting places. But I want to know what's come to your favorite like solo dates and also hobbies for the summer. I love biking. I live. Okay, I love that. Hear me out here. I have I live. Actually, I just moved. So I don't live there anymore. But my apartment is like right beside like a waterfront like it's right on the beach. And there's like a big like path that you can take. And I have a little yellow bike with a basket. And it's like a cruiser bike. Like it's super.
Starting point is 00:36:26 It's super cute. I will, I will. So, like, that's something that I do, like, all the time, like, in the spring and the summer, like, I'll just take my bike out. And because I have the basket, I'll put, like, a book in there, my journal. Maybe you can put, like, I don't know if you've heard of, like, the creative act. Oh, actually, not the creative act. What's the one that's like, um, I don't know the name of it, but just having books, like, I just put them in my basket and then I put my earphones on. I have a cute outfit on. And I just, like, feel so good doing it. It feels fit, but it's like, you're not sweating. Like, you can wear something cute and, like, go biking. It doesn't need to be, like, on a, mountain or anything like it is on pavement um but yeah I love biking um that's a hot girl hobby it is a hot girl hobby I also love um just kind of like going on picnics like I love the grass I'm a I'm a big grounder oh I love being grounded I'm like the toes in the grass oh yeah getting the like dirt under the toenails even like that's fine just go crazy you're crazy with pedicure who yeah so I feel like having like it's kind of similar with with the bike like you can bring like something to lay on or like something to sit on but the whole experience of that I'm like there's nothing better. And also like I'm I'm big into music like I love music so I'm like just like
Starting point is 00:37:31 thinking of like new artists going to concerts going to festivals like that's not really a hobby but it could be a hobby right like anything anything you'll be a hobby or a solity as long as you're enjoying it. It's like you know you can always fall back into so it's like when you're in those ruts okay what are those things that I can fall back onto that I know we'll give you that energy and motivation. Also I will say like if you like music like you can even go to like jazz like little jazz bars or like kind of like speakisies that are like having live music like you can go by yourself to that. And I feel like that would be like really fun.
Starting point is 00:37:58 Like everyone's enjoying it. Everyone's like looking at something else. Like that is something that I would like to do more of. I love that. And just honestly like that's where you get the most memories too, I feel like. Okay. Last thing, then we'll go into our rapid fire faves.
Starting point is 00:38:08 So when it comes to summer ins and outs. What are a few ins and outs for the summer? Personally for me, ins for me are things that are honestly just going to make me feel joy that doesn't necessarily have to be productive. I feel like that I always have the mindset of, okay, if I have it in my life,
Starting point is 00:38:24 it should be productive because I have such limit. time in my life. But again, we need to be prioritizing our personal life as much as we prioritize our business. We need prioritize our personal life as much as we do business. I kind of think of our business life and our personal life as like when you go into a plane, they say, okay, to the parents, put the mask on first so then you can better help your kid. It's like put your personal mask and your personal, put your personal life first and then put your business second so then you can better perform in your business. I love that. That's like a perfect like metaphor for that. Um, okay, out. I'm gonna start with out.
Starting point is 00:38:58 Okay, start with out. Out, as we were talking about getting our, like, feet in the grass. I feel like I am someone who can be like, oh, I don't want to get my hair wet. I don't want to jump in the water or like, oh, I don't want to get dirty. I feel like this summer. It's like, let's like let go of that and like have fun and like enjoy the experience. And like I just want to like jump in and like do the full thing. I don't want to like sit out and just kind of like, you know, I feel like that's lame.
Starting point is 00:39:17 And you always look back and it's like, did I really not enjoy that? Like, you're thinking too much about like around. Yeah. Yeah. what anyone else is thinking, but even like thinking, oh, do I look good for myself? Yeah, yeah. So that's like an out for me. I want to like just enjoy the experience, get a little dirty, get a little messy with it, just like have fun. And an inn is going to be like activity, hobby girl summer. We're doing activities. I want to, I really want to go like bungee jumping.
Starting point is 00:39:38 I want to go. Like I just want to like, I'm ready to skydive, which is really grand now. I've gone skydiving twice. Okay, how was it? It's so much fun. I honestly, the first time, I was like, kind of scared and it's scary for like 10 seconds and then you're so fine. Okay. And then the second time I wasn't, me and my like partner were like, not scared at all. Oh, I need to. It was kind of like, um, not a letdown, but we were like, oh. Okay. Okay. I'm, sorry, I know we're going, getting off topic, but I'm maybe the only one, like I feel, I don't know anyone else really who likes to hike, but I'm trying to get hiking. Have you tried or no? You know what? From someone that lives in Vancouver, it's like a huge hiking thing.
Starting point is 00:40:11 Like, I don't hike like that. Okay. But I should. I should. I should. Yeah, yeah. We are. Honestly, and we're talking about aesthetics. Like, you get the cute, like, solomons. Get the cute outfit. Girl, I got my, like, a pink and, it's like, no, pink and like, pink and brown, like, it's like almost like macha like. It's like pink and brown, like strawberry match or something, merils. They're so cute. I'll send a, I will say also an in is like pink and green. Like that color combination I love. Okay, what's another in?
Starting point is 00:40:37 Sorry, we only went to the out. Another in. Now that I'm talking about color, I feel like teal is in. I want to be like aquamarine kind of summer. Okay, cute. Like I like that. I kind of got these little tinsels in my hair. Maybe that could be an end.
Starting point is 00:40:49 Just like having a little bit more fun. Again, this was something that like when I was, uh, backstory, I went to a gifting suite yesterday and I got a tooth drum. And I got like tinsel in my hair. Tooth gem is so cute. Yeah. And I was doing exactly what I'm saying right now. I was like, I'm not going to do that.
Starting point is 00:41:02 That's like not my vibe. I don't know if I really want to. Even though it looks fun, I like don't really know if that'll like go with my vibe. And then everyone was doing it and having so much fun. And I was like, okay, fine. Okay, fine. And like now I'm like, wait, that was fun. You should just like, you know, do the thing.
Starting point is 00:41:13 Exactly. rapid fire of our very favorites for the summer. Drink of the season. Mine's obviously watered down right now, but a macho latte with pistachio milk. Ooh, I love pistachio. So good. Oh my God, let me think.
Starting point is 00:41:25 Drink of the summer. I kind of like an iced tea. I feel like that's like kind of fun and refreshing. What tea? Like any tea. I was thinking about like the sweet tea. Like just like iced tea. But like any tea.
