Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, my love. Welcome to the Busy Yet Pretty Podcast. I'm your host, Jaden Haley. I talk all about how to become the best version of you, enjoy your days, romanticize your life, and honestly just become the best version of you. I'm very excited about today's episode because I feel like the whole maxing, if you've seen it on like Instagram, TikTok, the whole maxing trend is very much alive. And if we're going to max out one thing and maximize one thing, we are maxing out our weekends.
Starting point is 00:00:38 So I'm very excited for today's episode, which is on how to begin weekend maxing. So this is going to be romanticizing your two days off or whenever you have your weekend according to your work. But romanticizing your two days off and recharging for the week ahead. I feel like sometimes we have those weekends. If we're do loomscrolling or we do literally nothing that makes us feel good or sets ourselves up for success. And of course we don't have to have a nonstop busy weekend or a nonstop weekend planning for the week ahead. but I guarantee you if you do things throughout your weekend that isn't numbing but actually making you feel alive such as your hobbies, enjoyment and doing things that are going to plan for the week ahead for setting yourself up for success, it's going to feel so much more memorable and you're going to remember your weekend because I can't tell you 10 videos. I can't tell you one video. I've watched doom scrolling on a weekend, but I know there's many weekends I've wasted time doing nothing but doom scrolling. And I always. always can remember the weekends. I really just maximize my weekends. Romanticized it, did something
Starting point is 00:01:42 different, had some variety in my routine, and also did things I enjoy. Also, setting yourself up for success, like I said, your future self is thanking you. So doing anything other than numbing yourself in the weekend is so important. So I'm very excited for today's episode. But first, let's do our weekly review. This week, I have been staying consistent with my routines while honoring just resting when needed. I can't lie. I was. in like a super motivated feeling like about two weeks ago and don't get me wrong I still am but I all of a sudden kind of just started getting in like a tired mood and like tired and also just like a mood in general I'm not sure if my period's coming but I just can feel I'm like like a little
Starting point is 00:02:24 shift and that's why it's so important not to follow your emotions but to follow your habits so no I did not want to show up for myself and go on a walk no I did not want to show up for myself and eat healthy or no, I did not want to show up for myself and wake up early, but I did it anyways, and those things made me feel good at the end of the day. So just honoring rest when needed is also really important. So that's what I also did whenever I was super tired. Like today, I was very tired. And I took a two hour nap. Napping is productive. If you have the opportunity to take a nap and you're tired, nap. Like there is no rules and all that is going to help you feel better and be more productive in the long run. Another thing this week is I have been watching Big Brother with my mom every night,
Starting point is 00:03:08 which is my favorite show. Literally, I've been watching this for my entire life. It's my favorite show ever. It's like a strategic reality show, but I love it so much, and my mom and I get cozy every night and watch it. And lastly, I have just been soaking up the summer, and I'm really trying to hold off on doing any fall content until it feels like fall. But I just really want to just soak up the summer because so much of the time we're rushing to the next season and once that season's there, we're already on to the next one. And I don't want to keep rushing into the next thing and just enjoy where I'm at. So I am excited for fall and I will be tapping into fall very, very soon. But at the same time, I do want to enjoy the last bits of summer as well.
Starting point is 00:03:52 Another thing I did this week is re-organized my pajama drawer and it feels so nice and I'm so happy I did that because that was the goal of last week and I love nothing more than just being able to check it off. Now into the current obsessions of the week, my current obsession right now is ruffle skirts. I am back in my skirt era and I love wearing little ruffle skirts. Another current obsession right now is mango macha with passion fruit. I add like this little mango sauce in my matcha and then I'll add passion fruit on top and it just is so summery. The perfect refreshing summer matcha. And another current obsession right now is my 6 a.m. morning I love just waking up early.
Starting point is 00:04:33 I'm definitely an early riser, and I just love feeling awake before the world's awake, except I know most of the world is, I guess, a week at 6 a.m., but it just is so quiet and peaceful during early warnings. Now for the goal of the week, my goal of the week right now is to reorganize my skirt drawer. I checked off the pajama drawer,
Starting point is 00:04:52 and now I feel like I have so many skirts, and especially since I just bought some new ones at TJ Max, I just want to reorganize so it all feels put together. Another goal of the week right now is to start storing away some of my summer pieces in order to get more of my fall pieces out. I love just cycling things out throughout the season. I'll put it back in my storage unit and then it just feels so nice to have those new things when the season rolls around. And my last goal of the week right now is to ice my face every morning. I literally just grab an ice cube and I rub it on my face, my eyes, and it feels like it just deep puffs my face and wakes me up.
Starting point is 00:05:24 And I also know it's really good for anxiety as well. so I have been loving that. Now on to the affirmation of the week. This coming weekend will be the best days of the month I've had so far. I love that affirmation so much and I really recommend journaling that to yourself. Now on to yourself of question of the week, how can I show up for myself to truly recharge? I love that question and it really just brings awareness to understanding
Starting point is 00:05:46 what makes you feel most recharge and also you can implement that into the weekend. Now when it comes to the podcast review, if you want to be featured on next week's episode, make sure to leave a podcast review over Apple Podcasts and leave a rating over Spotify. This review is from Rosie and Rosie said, I discovered the podcast a few weeks ago and I love it. Jaden, you truly have a way with words. Please continue to make episodes because there's something about the way you speak
Starting point is 00:06:12 that really inspires me to romanticize my life and to become the best and happiest version of myself. Thank you so much. I wish you all the best. Without further ado, it is time to get into today's episode. As I said, today's episode, we are Weekend MacKee. So this is going to be how to romanticize your two days off and recharge for the week ahead. Let me remind you why your weekend matters. Your weekend literally sets the tone for your week. I always say this, but your morning routine begins with your night routine.
Starting point is 00:06:40 Same thing goes for the weekend. Your week begins with your weekend. Why are we sitting at home doom scrolling doing nothing with her time? When we can be recharging with hobbies, nature, friends, alone time. How you spend your weekend will show up. in your week. Why not use those two days to set yourself up for success? And the only person that can change that and begin making the most of your weekend is you. Like I said earlier, but rest is productive and not lazy. If you are someone who has a lot of work to do throughout
Starting point is 00:07:12 the week, you have a hard job or you go to school and you're exhausted by the end of the week, which is understandable and like the majority of us, you may need to rest. Maybe that is the best thing that you could do in the weekend is literally sleep for a full day. That is productive. It's not lazy. It's literally productive. It's recharging and refueling your mind, body, and soul. I want you to begin recharging instead of simply recovering. Start being intentional with your time. You know the difference between intentional and fillers. To me, things such as like fillers are doom scrolling or doing nothing but sitting on the couch and sad that you're not going out because you have no friends and sad that you don't have the life of someone you see on social media. To me, that's
Starting point is 00:07:57 a filler. But you could be on the couch, maybe doing a coloring book. That is intentional. That's intention. And that's actually resting a recovery. One of the biggest things also is creating memories, not just free time. So often we have this free time and we do the same routine. And while I think it's important to have routine and stay consistent with a routine, it's always important to add at least one thing different into that time period because you're not going to be able to tell one weekend from the other if you're constantly just doing the same thing so even if you think okay i have my sunday reset and every saturday go to the farmer's market you have your general routine of what you like to do and that's productive for you for the week ahead at the same time add
Starting point is 00:08:40 something different maybe hang out with a friend you haven't seen in a while or start a new hobby that weekend start something and do something different every single weekend so it makes a little mark in your brain that you can remember, oh wait, this weekend I did this. Last weekend I saw my friend. So it doesn't just feel like a broken record and you're repeating every single weekend the same. Now when it comes to weekend mornings, that is literally my favorite time is weekend mornings when you have no work or no school, no nothing to get to. And literally just feels like the world is your oyster. And again, it's all in perspective. because I could be saying, oh my gosh, I have no plans today.
Starting point is 00:09:19 What am I going to do? How am I going to spend my weekend? Or I'm so tired. Gosh, I can't believe Monday's going to roll around so quick. If you think that way, you're only going to feel negative and down. It's all about perspective. Start entering the weekend with a full new perspective of, oh, I'm so happy that I have this entire weekend to do things I want to do
Starting point is 00:09:39 or to rest or to recover or to start a new hobby. So when it comes to weekend mornings, start waking up without rushing. Whether it's like our job or school, we majority of the time are rushing and we have this feeling of it weighing on us because we have to get to work, we have to get to school. And remember, there's nothing you need to get to. So begin waking up without rushing, without that feeling of something pulling you down. Maybe when you wake up, put on a podcast or start your morning reading a book with a cup of coffee in bed instead of scrolling on your phone and rushing out the door.
Starting point is 00:10:13 So get your matcha, get your coffee. go outside, get some sunlight, and relax. I feel like there's nothing better for your mind body and soul than spending time in the morning sun with a coffee or a matcha and just getting that morning sun on you and looking outside instead of looking at blue light as soon as you wake up. And while it is so easy to want to stay in our pajamas all day, and don't get me wrong, I want you to have some of those days, but every weekend we cannot be in our pajamas. You need to get dressed. even if you have no plans of leaving your house no plans of seeing anyone nobody's going to be seeing you get dressed you don't need to be in a full dressed up hair done makeup full beat look you can literally put on a comfy sweat set or a cute little lounge wear outfit
Starting point is 00:11:01 but as long as you get dressed for the day you do your skincare you do your hair and you wear an outfit that makes you feel good that already is setting yourself up to not sit in bed all day and scroll and to also not feel so lazy and unmotivated. Nothing makes you feel more motivated than getting your clothes on and getting ready. This is also a great non-negotiable for your weekend is moving your body. I know this is very cliche. Everyone says move your body, but it really is going to make you feel better and not feel so tired and not feel so lost in what to do with your day. You don't need to be dripping sweat and having a full-on hit workout. All you need to do is go on a morning walk, a walk outdoor, go on a swim, a bike right, pickleball, tennis, whatever it is, any form of movement is perfect. I want you to move because it feels
Starting point is 00:11:50 good not to burn calories. So much of the time we're moving or trying to get a workout in or get our steps in for our physical health and we definitely should do that because it's going to benefit our fiscal health. But I want you to do some form of movement to feel good mentally, to make your body feel good, to feel a little more awake and nothing to do with working out to feel productive or working out to burn calories because that is definitely not our goal. Something you can do if you don't even know what to do during the weekend is have a little weekend bucket list that you make every beginning of the month that you just check off. So you could add visit a new cafe or try a new activity or do a seasonal adventure.
Starting point is 00:12:30 Maybe with fall coming up you want to go apple picking. So you're going to go and go apple picking with your friend. Maybe a new hobby that you want to try could be needlepoint or starting a new business. book. You go to the bookstore and pick a new book out and read all weekend. Just doing something different and having a little bucket list is going to make you feel like you actually maximized your weekend and can remember your weekend because many times we just cannot remember what we did. And I guarantee you having that difference in variety in your day and in your month throughout your weekends is going to be the biggest thing to creating memories and actually feeling like you did
Starting point is 00:13:06 something. As I said, one of the most easiest ways out of doing. nothing in your weekend is staying in your pajamas all weekend. The second most, quote, easy way out thing would to be staying home all day long. You don't need to go out every single weekend and you don't even need to spend more than an hour outside, but at least get outside. So if it's your morning walk or if you want to do like a little event outside, that could be going to the farmer's market, going to the beach, the park or having a pool day, and going on a sunset walk, having a picnic, Getting outside is going to make you feel better and not like you're hibernating and avoiding everything until Monday. Because when you're also home all day, you're destined to get more of those Monday blues and those Monday scaries.
Starting point is 00:13:55 And of course, we're going to spend the majority of our weekend at home most likely, which is why it is so important that your environment makes you feel good. You need to start romanticizing your home. So adding fresh flowers and changing your sheets every Sunday. light a candle and play some music. Keeping your space clean and cozy in an environment that you want to be in is going to actually make you feel happier throughout your weekend. If you constantly leave everything a mess or you constantly just don't keep up after yourself
Starting point is 00:14:26 or don't take time to switch out some decor or put in some new flowers in your room is what's holding you back from actually enjoying your space and finding happiness within your environment. Your environment is a reflection of your head. headspace, so make sure you keep it up, you provide for yourself and set yourself up for success and your environment, so mentally you feel better. I want to introduce you to one of today's sponsors, Hinge, which is perfect since I know I've had so many questions as of recently on relationships and where to find someone with the same interest as you. Hinge is a dating app designed to be deleted.
Starting point is 00:15:06 It's for people dating with intention, so going on dates, putting themselves out there. Hinge is designed for finding connections. So many of my friends actually met the loves of their life through Hinge. And what I love about it, it's all about intention for people who are actually trying to find connection in relationships to truly just find your person. I personally am very selective when it comes to a partner in relationships. As you know, I would not settle for any less. So I love how with Hinge, it's designed to connect you to people who align to you and your lifestyle, which is so important when it comes to finding the right person for you. So if you're hearing this, this is your sign to download or read.
Starting point is 00:15:42 re-download Hinge. If you're picky when it keeps the dating, I'd honestly just give it a look because I've heard great things. And who knows, you may find the person you have been looking for. If you've been following me for a while and listening to the show, you know I'm trying to get rid of more polyester clothing and trying to prioritize having a full cotton, linen and just high quality clothing and home decor. And I have deep dived and found only very minimal brands who carry exactly what I'm looking for. And one of the brands I always wear in love is Quince. They carry organic cotton, Mongolian cashmere, and high quality materials that feel so luxurious and chic. But at the same time, has great affordable options. They're literally priced 50 to 80% less than similar brands.
Starting point is 00:16:36 They carry apparel, bedding and bath, kitchen staples, and just so many essentials. So upgrade your every day. Download Quince app for exclusive offers. Go to quince.com slash busy. Get free shipping on your order and 365 day returns now available in Canada and the UK too. That's Q-U-I-N-C-E.com slash busy. I seriously am obsessed with one of their dresses right now. I promise you you are going to love all their pieces. Begin nourishing yourself. Honestly, in my opinion, with more free time on your weekend, there is nothing better than actually being able to cook a new fun recipe and bake a new yummy sweet treat than the weekend because you have room for trial and error. Maybe you have a cook that you've been wanting to cook out of.
Starting point is 00:17:23 I know you're just like me and have a million bookmark recipes on Instagram and TikTok. Start cooking one of those recipes. This is my personal favorite thing to do on the weekend, but I'll go to the farmer's market, get produce, and then cook with that produce that night. Just eat colorful, fresh meals and stay hydrated and just enjoy the seasonal fruit. I love just searching up the seasonal fruit and vegetables that are in season at that moment, and then I will just try to buy those. And it just makes it more exciting to cook.
Starting point is 00:17:52 cook with those knowing that you're cooking with what's in season. And then every weekend, I will always bake a sweet tree right now. I've been doing chocolate cake, which is so good. So I'll do like chocolate cake, brownies, muffins, banana bread. Just get creative. Have a sweet tree. Have it out. And then you can put it in a cute little platter with like a little glass serving tray top on top. So you can just like lift it up and anytime guests come over, they can always get a muffin or a brownie. I feel like that is so chic. I know this sounds kind of cringy and it's something that a lot of people say, but you have to start protecting your energy during the weekend. You're allowed to say no to plans that drain you. While it's easy to people
Starting point is 00:18:32 please and say yes, you'll go to the plans that they're asking you to, if you don't want to go and it drains you to be with those people or it drains you to have those plans, say no. You don't need to overbook yourself for the weekend. You can have zero on your to do list on the weekend. That can be your to-do list is having nothing on your to-do list. Also, lead plans for just spontaneous plans that come up. So maybe all of a sudden you just decide, oh, I'm going to go take myself to ice cream. So you can go do that because you have no existing plans. Start making time for yourself. So solo cafe dates, go get your book and read out of cafe. Something I love doing. I love going to nice hotels and I'll just bring a book or bring a journal and I'll just sit in the lobby and write or read.
Starting point is 00:19:17 And to me, that is just so chic. It gets you out of the house and it just makes you have, again, another memory of doing something throughout your weekend. Something that I personally always like to tap into on the weekend is spending quality time with my family. So whoever matters to you, your family, your friends, with the people you love the most, start spending time with them throughout the weekend if you usually aren't able to during the week or aren't able to see them often. So maybe that's doing the family dinners or going to go. on coffee dates with friends. Having phone-free conversations so much at the time. We have our phone in our hand while talking to people. Put your phone down. Put it in a different room and talk. Catch up. See how that person's doing. Talk to that person. Let them know how you're doing.
Starting point is 00:20:03 And just having a genuine raw catch-up can be so refreshing and exactly what you need to have that human connection to feel like you can get back to work again and feel motivated to get back to the week ahead. I also find it helps limit your your Sunday scurries. Like when you spend all day worrying about the week ahead, that's a Sunday scary. But be conscious and intentional of your thoughts of not trying to worry all about Monday when it Sunday rolls around. Start staying present instead of anticipating Monday. And also ending the weekend on a peaceful note is so nice because it makes you just feel more complete and not as nervous and dreading Monday. So maybe you have a
Starting point is 00:20:47 a Sunday movie night where every Sunday you know you're going to watch a new movie or you're going to go get ice cream with your family. Doing something every Sunday evening to look forward to. So it ends your weekend off on a positive note. I know I mentioned this earlier, but I love a Sunday reset routine. I do it every Sunday. I actually now do a Saturday reset, but I couldn't do a Saturday Sunday reset and I just clean my room. I clean my space and I get everything prepared for the week ahead. Again, just doing everything I can to set myself up for success for the new week. So you can start doing your laundry and tidying your space and go grocery shopping, meal prep, do all the things that you need to feel good for the next week, planning your itinerary for the
Starting point is 00:21:32 week, maybe designing your Google calendar. I have mine all like pink, green, and blue and it's like all cute colors. So it makes me excited to plan for the week. And of course our mind is still sometimes caught up on last week or even the week ahead. So start resetting your mind and that's going to be brain dumping everything on your mind. Get out your journal, get out your voice notes, start talking to your voice notes or writing down exactly how you feel what's on your mind, what's weighing you down, what you're nervous about because doing that is letting that thought and letting those worries come off of you and on dependent paper onto the universe and it's just getting it off of you. and I guarantee it won't feel as heavy on you, and you'll feel lighter and feel like you can
Starting point is 00:22:17 actually move on a bit more. Something I love every single day when I wake up in the morning is knowing I'm going to be all cozy in bed and enjoying my evening. Like I am such a morning and evening person. I love knowing that I'm going to be all cozy, comfy, and all put together by the end of the day. So start romanticizing your evenings. Have your shower. Use all your body soaps and body lotions that make you feel good, even putting on a little fragrance in the evening if that makes you feel chic in the evening. But putting on your fresh pajamas and reading instead of doom scrolling or watching a new movie that you've been wanting to watch. Then winding down your mind, body, and soul with calming music instead of blue light and with all your lights on around your
Starting point is 00:23:01 house. Just having a candle lit and actually start relaxing. And sometimes if you're anxious about the week ahead or anxious about, you know, the upcoming week, start doing affirmations in bed. Sometimes I will be anxious and I will literally just start replaying affirmations and what I want my week to look like. Even if I think, oh my gosh, I know realistically I have a full packed week next week and I'm nervous, how am I going to get it all done? I will literally just imagine the best week possible. And it amazes me that it always ends up being easier that next week when I do that. It will always feel better when I do affirmations and I think to myself, next week is going to be the best week.
Starting point is 00:23:41 Even though I have a lot of things I have to do, I'm going to be perfectly on time. I'm going to stay organized. I'm going to feel good and I'm going to be productive and I'm going to feel good at the end of the day. And I always end up feeling better than next week. And it feels good and it plays out perfectly way better than I could have ever imagined it. So I really recommend trying that if you are someone who is anxious in bed
Starting point is 00:24:01 or just more worried in the evening. I know I mentioned having a productive. weekend. So I want to explain about balance, productivity, and rest. You don't need to earn rest. You can also be productive in your weekend without overdoing it. You can think, okay, I'm going to change my sheets. I'm going to vacuum. I'm going to go grocery shopping. But those are my main three priorities. And if I'm able to achieve those, and I also have more free time and I have more energy mentally and physically, then I will do more of the task I need to do. But realize that you have to leave time to also do absolutely nothing. Like I said, having a nothing schedule is perfect. Having
Starting point is 00:24:40 zero on your to do list may be all you need to recharge and refuel. With the summertime, of course, we have our goals, but we also have real life hanging out with friends, work, or maybe even school. And of course, that takes up a lot of time. But one of your goals may be starting a business. So you may be asking yourself, how can I have a business when I literally have a summer of plans to keep up with. But let me introduce you to something that I love Shopify. It makes starting a business easy and has all the tools you need to launch and maintain your business from day one. And whenever I use Shopify websites, it is so easy to navigate. What I love most about it is their design and launch feature with Shopify's templates and tools help your stunning site get up
Starting point is 00:25:24 launched and running smoothly. I also love their checkout, turning more browsers into buyers. I also love their sidekick feature. It's there to help you build, troubleshoot, and keep moving. All you need is idea and Shopify handles the rest. If you're serious about hearing your first, start your free trial at Shopify.com slash busy yet pretty today. You heard that right. Start your free trial today at Shopify.com slash busy yet pretty. That's Shopify.com slash busy yet pretty.
Starting point is 00:25:54 Stop trying to time block over scheduling everything, every single hour of your weekend. You do not need that. You're already doing that during the week and stressing yourself out. Why bring that stress into your weekend? And also stop feeling guilty for red, resting and also don't feel guilty if you also did doomscroll all weekend. If you didn't do anything all weekend. Maybe that's all your body needed to do and it didn't know what to do. It didn't know how to rest and recover. So it just ended up laying on the couch and dobscrolling.
Starting point is 00:26:22 Do not feel guilty. Don't because you are human. We all do it. And at the end of the day, we're just trying to figure out how to make ourselves feel better. And at that moment, maybe that's all you needed. And who knows, you maybe even saw something while doom scrolling that made you feel better about the week ahead. I always follow people that make me feel good and make me feel motivated and happy and just see a better perspective. In seeing all that on my scroll, automatically if I end up accidentally doom scrolling, all it did was be beneficial to me because it was something that made me feel good, made me feel motivated and also gave me inspiration. Just incorporate the most simple habits into your weekend and I guarantee you you're going to feel so much better, happier, and feel more
Starting point is 00:27:06 motivated and productive. Those things being spending time in nature, moving your body daily, reading instead of excessive screen time, planning something fun for yourself like a movie night, and resting, sleeping, catching up on sleep. And of course, spending time with your family and your loved ones and doing things that you've been wanting to do on your bucket list that you haven't been able to touch because you're too busy with worker school. Weekends aren't for escaping your life. Start building a life for yourself where you don't need a vacation from. I feel. like out of any of the goals in life, that is my goal, is that I am going to build a life and I am building a life for myself where I don't feel like I need a vacation from.
Starting point is 00:27:46 Remember, the weekend is in your hands. So would you rather have a weekend of progress or a weekend of excuses? I love you so much. Starting point is 00:28:27 fall together. So that's going to be so exciting for the new season. Also, I know school is right around the corner if you are someone going back to school. So I'll also touch on that as well soon. But anyways, if no one's told you that they're proud of you, let me tell you, let me be the one to tell you that I am so proud of you and you have so much coming to you. This is going to be one of your best weeks yet and one of your best weekends yet. Remember, the weekend is in your hands and do not forget to stay busy yet pretty. M-h.
