my dolls welcome back to the busy yet pretty podcast i'm your host jane haley i hope you dolls have been doing
lovely as always as per usual and staying busy yet pretty during these fall days and almost winter days
today's episode i'm really excited for because this has been really requested so i feel like it's super
necessary to touch on especially being that my podcast is based around wellness i'm
I think it's really important to talk about today's topic.
But first, let's get into today's weekly review.
So this week, I actually ordered some furniture.
Thank gosh.
It's been so hard.
I never realized how short my attention span is when it comes to looking for furniture.
Somehow my mom was gifted with a long attention span to look at furniture because she can look
for hours and I will be like, just show me options and I'll say yes or no because I need
to have it narrowed down. There's just so many different pieces of furniture. Like, how can I choose?
I also did Pilates. One of my favorite places to do Pilates that is natural Pilates in West Hollywood.
And it's so cute, they have it on their rooftop. And I just love it so much, especially during the
winter days because I know it's not winter yet, but I mean during like the colder days because the
wind and the breeze while you're doing Pilates. So, so nice. Another thing I did this week was
spend a lot of time with my mom. I know I moved here, but I feel like I even moved with my mom
because she has been here so much. I love when she's here, really just helping me finally get
settled. Still lots more to get done before I'm finally settled, but you know, it's a process.
It just makes me so happy. Okay, another thing that I did this week is Halloween. So
Halloween was last week and I was Audrey Hepburn for Halloween. Yes, it honestly came out pretty good,
not to say so myself. You can go check it out on my Instagram, which is Jaden Haley with an extra Y at the end.
Another thing I did was I went to my friend Hannah's house. I'm sure you guys have seen it before,
but it's literally a pink doll house. I'm not even kidding. Everything is pink inside. It's so gorgeous.
And we had a fun little Halloween party and everyone dressed.
up in pink. So that just made my day. It was just so much fun. But I also posted some stories
from there if you want to go check that out on my Instagram. Another thing that I did this week was
went to pause studios. I have just been obsessed with pause studios. Of course, I had to do
cryotherapy, sauna, ice bath, and contrast therapy, which is sauna and ice bath. And lastly, I ended
it with light therapy. It's been honestly one of my favorite things to do. And,
and saunas have just been my current obsession. I'm not going to lie.
Especially during the colder times because it's like nice, so it's chilly outside, and then
you go into a sauna, and then you can like sweat it out.
Feels so nice.
Okay, moving on to current obsessions.
So my current obsession is Pilates, specifically rooftop Pilates.
I have been loving rooftop Pilates, but I just have been loving Pilates lately.
It's really nice because it's not feeling like a very intense workout.
I still feel it the next day, but also just isn't too hard in my body.
And it just is so nice.
So that's one of my favorite ways to work out.
Another current obsession is my candy cane lane candle.
I went to home goods the other day and, of course, had to look at the Christmas stuff.
And I got a candy cane candle.
And it's pink, literally so cute.
And it's the best-smelling candy.
candle ever. Actually, no, the pumpkin one I had was. But this one's so good too. And it just makes
everything smell so minty and nice. I have just been loving mint. It just smells so, so good and
tastes good. Not the candle. I mean like mint flavor. Okay, next step is Christmas decor.
Christmas decor has been one of my favorite things lately because it just is so nice to really
embrace the Christmas spirit. So I have just been loving, just decorating for Christmas and
doing little Christmas activities. Even though it's still fall, it's never too early for Christmas.
Another current obsession is Jenny's. Jenny's ice cream has been literally my favorite ever lately.
I have been so obsessed. I have been getting three scoops of ice cream every single night for the
past week and a half. And let me just tell you, I am obsessed. No shame. It is. It is a
is so, so good. Okay, another current obsession is Bluestone Lane Best Meets Bowl. I have been loving
the Bluestone Lane's Best Meets Bowl because it's literally mushrooms, it has eggs, it has just so many
great ingredients that are really nourishing and fueling for the body. So I have been loving that
bowl because it just tastes so good. Lastly, another current obsession is the flavor, the smell,
everything that has to do with mint. I know I already said this, but mint has been my current obsession
lately because I don't know, I just love it. It feels so refreshing and so nice. Okay, my goal of the
week. So my goal of the week is to do more Pilates. I've been doing Pilates about twice a week
and I'm just so obsessed with it. It makes my body feel so nice and gets a good workout in without
being stressful on the body, if that makes sense. Another goal of the week is to look into
magnesium and B6 vitamins.
because I know it's really good for hormonal health.
And being that this past month, I actually didn't have my period.
So that worried me that I was low on some vitamins.
So I think that would be really important to look into and get started on.
Another goal of the week is to buy Christmas tree.
I really, really want to buy a Christmas tree.
Not a real one, but probably just a fake one for now.
But I am really excited to decorate for Christmas
and want to have as much decor as possible as early as I can.
so we can really embrace the Christmas spirit.
So I really want to buy a Christmas tree.
Another current ad session is to start juicing.
I haven't juiced in so long.
Let me just say I have been loving Airwans juices.
I currently am drinking right now the Airwan collab drink with Lacoste.
And let me just say it's the best ever.
I think the drink is called Heavenly.
And the ingredients are Granny Smith apples, organic cucumber, pineapple, kiwi,
spinach and broccoli. They were all organic. I just didn't read it all off. But anyways,
it's amazing. I'm obsessed with it. It's like the perfect amount of sweetness, but I know
adding apples to stuff just makes everything taste better. Another goal for the week is to plan ahead.
I feel like I've been a little off schedule. As I said, it's so nice to plan ahead because you can
really feel relaxed and just not have to worry about things as much to get done. So I really want to
start planning ahead. Okay guys, a self-love question to ask yourself. Have you acknowledged your
hard work this week? If not, reward yourself? I actually made up that question because I thought
it was just really important to acknowledge yourself and your hard work. So I think you guys should
write that down and answer that question. Next up is an Apple podcast review. So this Apple podcast
review is from Key and Key said, I adore this podcast so much.
I literally listen to it when I cook, do homework, and of course, working out.
Keep this podcast going.
That is the sweetest Apple podcast review.
Thank you so much, Key, and I appreciate that so, so dearly.
One of my favorite things to do is know how you guys listen to Busy at Pretty.
Are you on the subway?
Are you working out?
Are you shopping?
Are you cleaning?
Are you organizing?
I just love knowing what you guys are doing when you listen to the podcast.
Today's daily affirmation is amazing opportunities attract to me daily.
I love that affirmation so much and I really recommend journaling that affirmation and
really affirm it to yourself and believe it.
Without further ado, let's get into today's episode.
So today's episode is on Wellness Looks Different on Everyone and discovering your own personal
wellness.
Something that I think about a lot is just the wellness community and how it's really looked at sometimes as unhealthy or negative when it's really supposed to be uplifting and positive.
And I'll explain when I'm meaning, but social media shows a highlight reel.
And as you guys know, you post what you want others to see.
You're not going to post when you have a bad day, most likely.
You're going to post things that are the best parts of your day.
Things I'll be showing over social media is my green juice, Pilates, being productive.
But most of the time I'll be like working or I'll be snacking.
It's not all green juices and Pilates.
It's a ton of other things when I'm showing the highlights on my social media.
I try my best to be transparent, but of course we all tend to show the highlights of our day, our week,
and it's totally understandable.
That's where inspo comes from.
people see something and they want to be like that or people see something and they want to aspire
to be like that. But they're also not seeing the behind the scenes. Taking inspiration from others
in the wellness category is so, so great. And I think it's so needed because it can help
inspire us, motivate us, and just bring ideas to our minds how we can improve ourselves. But it's so
important to remember you cannot compare yourself. Because if you begin to compare yourself
and your wellness journey to someone else you're seeing online,
that's where comparison is the thief of joy,
and you're not seeing the behind-the-scenes of their life.
You're only seeing the highlights.
You're seeing the behind-the-scenes of your life because it's your own life.
And so you're saying the part where you're lazy one day,
or you're really tired, or where you don't get a lot of work done,
or where maybe you're not eating the best nutritious foods for you.
Other people are doing that.
You're just not saying that part of them
because you're seeing the highlights of their life.
wellness is supposed to cater to your own well-being and happiness. Wellness should be looked at is
trying to cater to your mind, body, and soul. It shouldn't be a specific type of look or type of
activities to do to achieve a healthy lifestyle. There are no specific activities or guidelines or
requirements to live a healthy lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle and wellness is catering to your own
personal mind-body soul needs. And that's regardless of what someone's
else's needs look like. Typically, it's easy to think of wellness to be working out every day,
only eating salads, being productive 24-7. It's so easy to just look at wellness from afar and
to look at it as Pilates, Green Juice, working out, productive, when actually that is some
things that come with wellness, but it's not the definition of wellness. Wellness for me,
personally, is different than wellness for you. And working out seven days a week,
doesn't work for me. It may work for you, but it doesn't work for me. I am very busy during the day
because I have to do a lot of work in emails and a ton of other things where I can't fit in seven days
a week to work out, nor would I want to. But you know what? I'll work out about three to four days
a week. In fact, you know what? I took off the past few months to work out and I'm finally starting to
work out again. And I've incorporated about one to two days a week to work out. And I had a huge, huge
break of working out honestly like probably like five to six months i haven't worked out like a proper
on routine workout and that's fine because that works for me i needed that break to catch up
on doing things and not exercising because it was taking out from my day but you know what little
activity like walking was working for me i've eaten ice cream literally three scoops of ice cream
every single night for the past week and that's not being quote off routine or i'm not needing to
quote, bounce back. That's literally me having a healthy lifestyle because that works for me.
That's my personal wellness. Eating three scoops of ice cream is my personal wellness because that
makes me happy and I enjoy it and that's balance. 80-20. You can't go full force in or you're not
going to be happy if you have to have a healthy balance and you have to look at it. How is this
food making you feel? Yeah, of course, a salad may make me feel better than three scoops of
ice cream will. But you know what? The salad is feeding my mind and body and the ice cream is feeding
my soul. You're supposed to have a healthy balance of things that feed your mind, body, and soul.
A healthy balance is honoring your cravings and listening to your body. And some nights I'm
asleep by 9 o'clock and some nights I'm asleep by 4 a.m. It really depends. Some days I'm
awake at 5.30 in the morning. Some days I'm awake at 9 if I needed the extra rest. Wellness
This looks different on everyone.
You have to stop looking at someone on social media or someone you know that you hear is waking up at 5 a.m.
If you're waking up at 5 a.m. and you are absolutely exhausted and not even able to function throughout the day because you have work in school.
Well, then you have to realize they may not have that same schedule as you and that's not working for you.
So you need to reevaluate and find what works for you.
For instance, I am an early waker because I enjoy seeing the sunrise and just being up early.
So I would wake up around 5 to 5.30.
But lately these past few months, I've been waking up around 7 to 9 o'clock.
My usual routine is waking up at 5.30, but I've been waking up at 7 to 9, which is totally okay.
I've been needing that extra rest because I've been staying up late, working hard on getting my apartment done.
That extra rest is needed, even if someone else is willing.
waking up earlier than me or going to bed earlier than me. It doesn't matter. This is working
for me. So this is my personal wellness. Regarding food, for instance, I'm really sensitive to dairy and
gluten. I'll cater to my needs and I'll choose some of the vegan options or the gluten-free options.
And that's because I'm viewing food is how is this going to make me feel and do I enjoy this food?
I'm not personally the hugest fan of pasta. My stomach isn't and I don't like it that much either.
I just don't choose that, but you know what?
I will choose is a vegan cheese burger.
I love me a quinoa patty with vegan cheese from the burger lounge.
So good.
And you know what?
All of that makes me feel so good.
Makes my stomach feel good.
It makes my body feel good.
It makes me overall happy because I love that food.
So I'll pick things that I enjoy and that my body also reacts well to.
And that's another thing with listening to my body.
If you're seeing people say,
that they don't eat fish and meat, and you're just going to stop eating fish and meat because
they are. You have to step back and say, why are you not going to eat fish and meat?
If it's because they are not eating fish and meat, then that's not a good reason.
You have to really pinpoint why are you doing things.
You can get inspiration from others.
If you're doing it just because other people are not eating it, that's not going to benefit you.
I've been pescatarian for years now, and just this past month, I've started eating meat again to see how I like it and if it's going to make my body feel better because I felt like I was possibly low on iron.
And that was my personal decision. It was not based off of someone else or doing it because someone is eating meat or not eating meat.
It's because I feel maybe, you know what, I may need the extra iron.
So base your decisions off of your own personal wellness.
inspiration from others, but base it off of your needs. And when I say take inspo, what I'm trying
to say is don't copy and paste their wellness routine to your own wellness needs. Copying, pasting,
their wellness lifestyle will only cause comparison and won't benefit you and improve you if you
are doing someone else's routine rather than your own. Ask yourself, what time do I wake up at
where I feel I have enough rest? Another question is, what food nurse?
my mind, body, and soul.
Are the goals I set for myself truly my own personal goals?
Am I surrounding myself with people who uplift me?
Those questions are really important, in my opinion,
because it really helps you realize,
am I setting these goals and having this wellness journey
based off of someone else's needs or my own?
Wellness and a healthy lifestyle is when you begin to nourish your body with food
that feel your mind, body, and soul.
A healthy balance, which is 80-20,
is supposed to be in every single aspect of life.
80-20 role with working out, food, school, work, friends, everything.
It should apply to all of your life.
You need to feel relaxed and feel happy and present in life.
There should be nothing wasting our day.
We should enjoy every single day that we're here and alive
and living this beautiful life.
Surround yourself with people who uplift you.
If you surround yourself with people who are negative
or don't believe in achieving huge goals and aren't supporting you,
then you need to rethink your surroundings.
You will only be brought down and not motivated and not having a improvement in yourself.
Think about it.
Are you going to feel excited and motivated and happy and positive if you're around someone who's
constantly negative?
Throughout time, they will bring you down and you need to make sure that you surround
yourself with people who are uplifting, happy, and positive and motivating.
Another thing is don't be the smartest person in the room.
You need to put yourself in a room that allows you to learn and grow.
You will literally stay in the same spot and place you're in life if you stay in the same room.
If you want to grow and learn and evolve, then put yourself in the room that will allow you to do so.
Another thing I think is really important is have an unfollowing spree, and that's including personal
friends, influencers, everyone.
You should feel motivated and feel positive after seeing content from people that you follow.
You will see a massive life improvement when you begin actually surrounding yourself and following
people who bring you happiness, positivity, and bring a light out of you.
Something that I always live by is it's better to be in a room with no one than a crowded room
with people who dim your light.
I really want you to think about that because you can feel so alone in a crowd of people.
You really have to step back and think, who is serving me right?
If no one is serving you right that the current position you're in in life, then you know what?
Hold back and be alone because I promise you you're going to see so much improvement by being away from those people.
When I think of eating healthy, it's for foods that nourish your mind, body, and soul.
And I'll always say that, but it truly is.
My healthy diet that's nutritious to me looks different than your healthy diet.
I know what I eat in a days are very controversial on social media.
I think those videos are awful to compare too, because you are comparing to someone who has a totally
different lifestyle.
They're not you.
They could be a different weight, a different height.
They could be completely different genes.
You are not that person.
So what they eat is not going to work the same for what you eat, just as what you eat will
not work for them.
But I don't think they should be banned.
because they can give really good inspiration for meals.
Re-evaluate the videos you watch to make sure those ones are really healthy,
meaning the correct portion size, the correct amount of food.
Because if you're watching what I eat in a day videos that are clearly not beneficial
and are somewhat disordered eating,
that's only going to send the wrong information to yourself.
into someone who's lifting weight or likes high impact, and that's the best for them, that is
great. Personally, my favorite things to do is work out my abs, Pilates, Yoga, walk or run.
I just feel like my cortisol levels are better in balance when I don't stress my body up too much
doing high impact, but you know what? High impact me work great for you. So even though I enjoy
Pilates and yoga, maybe high impact is so much better for you, your mind, body, and soul.
So overall, I just want you guys to know it's so important to view others' wellness journeys solely as inspiration.
In order to live a healthy lifestyle, you have to cater to your own personal needs.
You don't need to copy and paste the same needs as your friend, as the influencer that you follow, or as your parents, or as your sister or as your brother.
It's literally your own personal needs.
If waking up at 5.30 because the influencer you follow does, but you feel very exhausted.
and you literally cannot get through the day, then stop waking up at 5.30, start waking up at 7 or 8.
Don't force yourself to do the typical, quote, wellness activities if they're making you feel like
you're reverting or not even improving in life. The point of wellness and having a healthy,
balanced lifestyle is to improve in life and feel your happiest, your best. That's the point of life.
You're supposed to enjoy your life, feel happy and present. If you're constantly seeing content that is not
helping you or surrounding yourself by people who are not benefiting you, then you need to really
step back and reevaluate the content that you watch, the people you surround yourself with
in your own wellness routine because you may just be copy and pasting someone else's,
which those person's needs are not your needs. So I hope you guys enjoy this episode and really
thought about are your wellness needs being catered to properly? I hope you all have a lovely day.
I really recommend after this episode write down everything that you need personally just for you without any other person's thoughts or needs just your needs in mind.
And really think about it to see how can I cater to my own personal wellness needs.
I hope you guys enjoyed this episode.
I love you all so much.
