Hello, my dolls. Welcome to the Busy Yet Pretty Podcast. I'm your host, Jaden Haley. If you were new here, I am
Jaden Haley. I talk about all things wellness, self-care. I live in Los Angeles, California,
and manifested every single thing in my life. So I'm here to tell you guys how you can become
the best version of you. Thank you for tuning into Busy Yet Pretty, and let's get into today's
episode. So starting off with my weekly review. So this week, I have just been
so productive on both work and my workout routine and my schedule. And honestly, it feels so good.
I really feel like I have officially beat brain fog. And I feel like I've had such bad brain fog,
especially the first few months of moving to LA. Productivity levels were just so all over the place.
And I feel like I'm now having a good steady path. And I really know what works best for me.
so I'm really excited about just everything how it's going now.
I feel like I just needed a good six months to get settled and now I'm like ready to go.
I have just been going to lots of workout classes.
I went to heated room, which is one of my favorites where it's heated Pilates.
I spring cleaned my place, got rid of lots of beauty products and skincare that I've not used.
And I'm going to do another little giveaway.
Another thing is I have been transitioning out of the winter blues.
I know it's spring, but like I feel like I still was keeping on to those winter blues since it's still pretty cold outside.
And I'm just so excited for the summer and any time it's sunny out, I literally will just sit in the sun and really absorb all the sun and it feels so good.
Moving on to my current obsession.
My current obsession is watermelons and fruit.
I have been dipping strawberries into my favorite chocolate avocado moose, which is divine.
I've also just been eating lots of yogurt bowls with fruit in it, frozen blueberries, watermelon.
So divine.
Another current obsession is work dates.
I absolutely love work dates because I feel like I'm able to really tune in and be productive.
To the past few days, I've just been going on little work dates.
And it's so nice because I'm really able to dial in and it's fun to just co-work with someone by you.
Okay, this is another really odd current obsession, but it's beef.
I have been eating meat again.
Red meat I never see.
I was pescatarian for a few years.
And just this year since moving to L.A., I decided to start eating meat again.
And let me tell you, when I eat beef, my nails overnight grow so much.
It's literally insane because of the collagen.
So if you are struggling with nail growth, stop taking those biotin supplements.
Although those can be good, I really recommend incorporating.
incorporating collagen that is from animal products into your diet because I'm telling you my
nails and hair have just been growing so, so much.
Lastly, my current obsession is just staying focused and being organized.
I just have been so focused and it feels so good because I just feel so productive and I go
to bed so happy yet I'm going to bed with a lot of free time on my hands too.
So this is what I'm going to get into about today's episode, but just really being productive.
It can literally improve your mood so drastically.
Moving on to my goal of the week.
My goal of the week is to start reading every single night.
I bought a book.
It's The Mountain As You and I'm very excited to start reading it.
I began reading it, but I need to actually read like a few pages every night and stay consistent because consistency is key.
And that's something I have a hard time on is reading.
So I really want to try getting better of that and improving.
Another goal of the week is to continue my daily movement.
The past few months I really found that my mood was so low and I felt really down and I realized I began starting to incorporate daily movement.
Not for the physique to look a certain way, but to actually do it for my mental health.
And it has been so amazing, such a game changer.
And I know that's a no-brainer, but it has made me feel so good.
So just incorporating daily movement has been my goal of the week that I want to continue.
Another goal of the week is to keep track of my emotions so I can reflect on them, whether that's journaling or making little video diaries, but just trying to check in with myself and seeing how I feel.
So I can always reflect on that if I'm having a bad day and be like, what did I do that day that made me feel good?
So I really think that's been important for me to do lately.
And that is one of my goals of the week.
And lastly, my last goal of the week is to prioritize sunlight.
I love getting some sun in, as I said.
So just really trying to make the effort to go outside all the time and really get some sunlight.
The affirmation of this week is, when I look in the mirror, I feel pure love for my reflection.
I love that so much because we honestly just deserve to love ourselves.
No matter how we look, no matter what our life is, we should love ourselves regardless.
So I just love that affirmation so much.
Next, it's a self-love question to ask yourself.
When's the last time I've taken a mental health day?
I did this question in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, which is so important.
I really want to start touching more on mental health even more because I've struggled with it in the past and I know many of you listeners have as well.
So I really encourage you, ask yourself that question and reflect.
Moving on to a challenge of the week.
My challenge for you this week is to try a new workout out or go somewhere and try a new workout place.
I literally love trying out new workout studios and Pilates Studios, yoga, so I really encourage you to do that this week.
Moving on to a podcast review.
This review is from Jillian, and Julian said,
A few months ago, I had a two-year relationship abruptly end.
It absolutely crushed my self-esteem.
I fully put all my trust and energy into this person and saw forever with them.
I've been following Jaden for a while on her socials, and one day during my struggle, I decided to check out Busy Yet Pretty.
I am so internally grateful that I did it.
It motivated me to truly invest all my energy that I was giving to someone else into myself.
I have made so much progress into becoming my own dream girl with new hobbies, lifestyle choices, and a huge mindset shift.
I love myself more than I ever did in that relationship.
Thank you, Jaden, and Busy Yet Pretty for inspiring me to become the best version of myself.
Jillian, I have to say that is one of my favorite reviews I've ever read.
It truly just had me smiling so much to hear that you love yourself more than you ever did in that relationship.
And I just think that is so powerful.
I am so beyond proud of you and you have such a beautiful life ahead of you.
I know what heartbreak feels like and it's one of the worst pains in the world.
I'm just so proud of your progress and journey to recovering.
In today's episode, I'm going to talk to you guys about fighting procrastination and advancing your productivity.
I am someone who has dealt many times and still does to this day with procrastination.
And I know you guys do as well.
So this is something not to be ashamed of.
And I really want to talk about the root reason of why we procrastinate and how you're able to be more productive and stop procrastinating, but also accomplishing more by doing less.
I just felt so called to talk about this topic because I feel like I've actually been able to get on a role of really understanding
what works for me. And these are some things that really has helped me with productivity in the
past. And I feel these tips are universal that can really help anyone. But let me just say,
I still struggle with procrastination sometimes. I am not perfect. Nobody's perfect. And these are
just some great ways to cope with it and know how to move forward and push past it. I learned a lot of
these skills from trial and error. I feel like I've done a lot of things that I felt were great
that were going to make me productive and it didn't.
And a lot of things that I thought would help stop my procrastination and it didn't help at all.
And ever since I moved to LA, the first few months were just so extremely hard for me.
I feel like I was procrastinating and I just was trying to get settled in.
So I'd just always be organizing and doing little things to actually procrastinate work.
I moved here for work and I did go balls to the walls right when I got here working.
But I also felt like when it came to actually being with a schedule, I wasn't.
and doing good at following the schedule and just completing each task that need to be done.
I felt me having intense brain fog, fatigue, and just lack of motivation.
I feel like you'd just be super motivated one day and super unmotivated the next.
Have a really high of being very productive.
And then the next day would feel so low because I don't have as much energy and I'm just not
able to be as productive.
But something for you to realize is not every day of your life is going to be productive.
And you can't label for yourself that every single day you're going to be productive.
be productive. Productivity looks different for everyone and productivity looks different in all different
forms because self-care counts as productivity. Refueling counts as productivity. Yes, we have our
work and task we need to get done and those are our priorities, but we also have to remember
in order for you to finish that task, you have to schedule time to refuel yourself. I feel like
without me even giving you ideas, you already can pinpoint in your head what things that you procrastinate
in what things you are planning on procrastinating.
That may be homework.
That may be school work.
That may be emails.
That may be tasks that you have to do for work.
That may be cleaning your room.
Your to-do list.
Daily simple task.
And the majority of people aren't jumping for joy for a to-do list.
If I'm going to be quite honest,
I'm sure that you right now would rather do anything
rather than your to-do list.
But we have to ask ourselves,
why are we procrastinating?
Why are we trying to avoid this task?
There's a lot of science backed up evidence on this,
but we're avoiding a task because we know it leads to negative emotion.
We do not want to feel negativity.
We want to feel positive emotions.
So anytime you procrastinate, I want you to know it's because you're avoiding negative emotions.
So that task slash experience that you're thinking in your head is linked to a negative emotion,
which is why you're avoiding it and procrastinating.
In order for you to want to do something, it needs to have a positive emotion.
And sadly, homework usually doesn't give us a positive emotion or answering.
all our emails or cleaning our room.
Sometimes we feel that as a dread.
But what we have to do is shift the negative emotion that we have with that task into a positive
in order for us to want to do that task.
If you're seeing homework as a negative thing, why would you want to do it?
But if you see it as a positive, you're going to want to do it.
And I know a lot of us all do this, but we like to say, oh, I don't procrastinate.
Let me just say it's hard to admit, but we will literally acknowledge a task that needs to be done
but we don't want to do, and we'll purposely avoid it.
But we're not able to put it at a plain sight because subconsciously, it's still in our head.
And we end up completely wasting time doing something like looking on TikTok and scrolling,
sleeping, or doing something that isn't actually benefiting our time just to fill this avoidance
with a temporary positive.
For instance, you going on TikTok and procrastinating feels better than actually doing the work.
As we're scrolling on TikTok, we're not even able to be able to do it.
to register what we're viewing on TikTok because we're subconsciously thinking of what we have to do.
So in easier words, we're literally just wasting time.
I remember when I was younger, I would always ask my mom so many health questions asking,
is this normal?
And since I moved out, I tend to searching up my symptoms over TikTok, which leads me to
a rabbit hole full of questionable advice from so-called experts.
Let's be honest, we've all been there where we're worried about our health problems that we have.
and we almost resort to texting our group chat to get advice from.
But thank gosh, there are better ways to get answers that you want

The number one thing you have to do is change your mindset.
No matter what task you have, I swear to you, it is 100% beneficial in some way, shape, or form.
And if you're like, how is doing homework beneficial?
How is answering my emails beneficial?
How is cleaning up this mess beneficial?
Every single thing that you're avoiding is beneficial.
And I swear to you, because think of this, you may be avoiding homework.
And what is homework?
It will equal to good grades.
You're avoiding getting gas.
And gas allows you to drive your car.
You're procrastinating cleaning.
If you clean, you have a clean house.
If you're procrastinating working out, working out improves your mental and physical health.
Everything is derived from a positive thing, even though we look at that task is hard.
That task may be hard, but no matter what, it is.
beneficial even if you don't think it is it is beneficial in one way shape or form whatever
you're procrastinating fully accept to yourself that you have this task and it needs to be done
by procrastinating you're causing this task to be ten times harder than it actually is
because as you're procrastinating and not doing that task you're still using your headspace to
subconsciously think about that task having to be done versus if you actually just completed that
task. I much rather get something done and have a free day and not have to think about it again
than make it last all day long of me procrastinating, still having it in my head, and then finally
do it and have no more free time in the day. But in your head, if you're like, this is just not
working still, I can't switch my mindset. Here are some ways I'm able to fight procrastination
and advance my productivity without just mindset changes. Whether you're procrastinating right now
or reflect and you see you've been procrastinating
and just looking to pull out of that.
It's so important to have an entire refresh and just pause.
Realize that routine is so necessary,
especially days that have just gone by procrastinating.
You have to commit to yourself that you will move forward
and have a better set routine.
For me, it means going to bed early,
waking up early,
because waking up early means I have extra time
to do my own routine and self-care.
Self-care is so important for you to fuel your project.
productivity. Don't expect yourself to just be 100% productive on work or school or anything
without self-care because I promise you you will become burnt out. It's so important for you to
realign with your goals, whether that's journaling your goals or just scrolling over Pinterest.
You have to just become excited about your goals and stop looking at a task as just a task
and looking at it as a step closer to achieving your goals. I can't stress this enough, but
physical activity is so important for productivity, a quick 10 to 15 minute workout in the morning
or in the evening, a one mile walk, yoga, Pilates, maybe a more intense workout.
Whatever works for you is perfect, but prioritize some bit of movement in your day.
That has been something that has totally pulled me out of procrastinating and allowed me to be
more productive and has helped just fight brain fog. It will allow your mind to be just more
clear and sharp. Another thing is, is fresh air. Touch base with nature. Go outside, breathe,
take a little walk, do things to just go outside and not be inside all the time. So if you're
working from home or working from an office, it's really important to get some time that's outside.
Let's say you have homework, school work, emails. Anything that you're able to do on a computer or
somewhere else, go have a work date at a cafe. Right now, text one of your friends or text someone that
you've never hung out with before, text anyone and plan a work date with them.
It is so fun to have a little work date, get a little matcha, and just work together because
it holds you accountable and actually working.
It allows you to not slack off and go on your phone.
When you see someone else working, it motivates you to continue working.
So hold yourself accountable and have a work date with a friend.
Another good thing is schedule, but don't over schedule.
The minute you begin scheduling too much into your daily routine,
is when you're going to do nothing.
You're going to have the all or nothing mindset where,
well, I wasn't able to do one thing,
so now all of it's down the drain.
No, one step is one step closer.
Break the all or nothing mindset and begin doing one thing at a time.
Schedule three things in your day.
Then you can add on below that list a few things that are great if they got done,
but they're not major.
But schedule three main tasks every single day.
Less is more.
Schedule self-care, schedule personal things, schedule family time, schedule things that do not align with your work into your schedule.
Therefore, you're able to use that time to refuel to do your work.
As I'm recording, I'm currently drinking my little drink of the day, which is my chocolate element electrolyte drink mix.
I found myself getting such bad headaches the past few months, and I eat very clean.
I would like to say, and I realized I am lacking sodium.
And since incorporating element into my routine, it has helped so much with my brain fog, fatigue, energy, and so much more.
Electrolike deficiency is very common, and I found myself definitely having that.
So I decided to incorporate element into my routine with 1,000 milligrams of sodium, 200 milligrams of potassium, and 60 milligrams of magnesium.
I'm very specific about the ingredients I put in my body, and I love how it has no sugar, no color,
no artificial ingredients, no gluten, no fillers, nothing bad for you.
Element is perfect for everyone.
I just pour an Element electrolyte drink mix into my water bottle.
Or sometimes I like to have the chocolate one as like a hot chocolate sea salt.
And I'm telling you, it is my favorite thing right now.
I want you guys to try Element for yourself.
And let's say you don't like it, Element will send your money back.
But since I love Element so much, I want to give you guys a free sample pack with any purchase using the specific link in my show notes.
You have to find a desire in your task.
Romanticize it.
Look at that to-do list as, wow, my pages of homework means I'm almost degrading.
Vacuuming my house means I'm going to have a clean, spotless house.
You can even look at Pinterest and romanticize schoolwork, your work outfits.
Do things that makes you excited.
As I said, change the emotion behind the task.
Make it a positive experience where you will not want to avoid that feeling, which is procrastinating.
Remember that procrastination is all stemming from avoiding negative emotions.
Touch base with the emotions that you're receiving from each task,
and you have to regulate your emotions in order to complete that task.
Whether regulating means romanticizing it,
adding more self-care into your schedule,
getting a new planner to make a to-do list.
I was not a straight-A student who loves school.
It just wasn't for me.
But something that made school much more enjoyable was I always had cute little folders.
I had a Lisa Frank folder, a pink journal, pink pens.
I would do everything that made me somewhat excited to do that task.
If cleaning your house is hard, buy a really cute vacuum.
If going to work is hard, buy a really cute outfit to wear to work.
Go on Pinterest.
There is so much inspiration for the jobs and tasks you're avoiding
and find ways to romanticize it.
If you work somewhere and maybe have a uniform,
find cute hairstyles that will make it exciting to go to work.
If you're a corporate girly, maybe go shopping and find a really cute, classy outfit.
Provide positive emotions to that task.
Procrastination occurs with everyone.
You are not alone, and I promise you, once you actually get over the hump of procrastination,
you will feel so much happier.
Every single time you've avoided a task, and once it's over, it's a sigh of relief,
so you just have to remember that.
Once it's done, it's done.
But begin to make that experience of the task,
so much more enjoyable by romanticizing it, by providing more things to make it good.
I hope you guys enjoyed this episode.
I had such a fun time talking about this because I truly struggled with procrastination in the past,
and I found these ways to help me be so much more productive.
I really hope you guys are able to be more productive and fight procrastination,
and I want to know how you guys are productive.
