Every step I take, I move my truth.
Every time they tell me stop I use.
Every comment hate that makes my feel, gather up my energy and boom.
I hear them talking, saying the way that I'm moving so reckless.
That is a part of my mind I've been blessed with.
Giving my blood so I am relentless.
This is a Keep Hammering Collective with, this is new and exciting because we got Gideon here,
but we also have Connor, a new addition.
Also known as Larry.
To the staff.
and we're excited.
He's going to go through all my archival footage
and we're going to make some cool stuff.
So let's all welcome Connor to the foot.
Turn the clap sign on.
Applaus.
You didn't introduce yourself.
I am Kramer and Haynes, aka sausage nose.
That's right.
That's right.
That was, I was so pumped when I found that letter today
Because I remember reading that, like years ago.
And then today I was looking for all that old footage for Larry, Connor.
And I was like, old computer I hadn't even opened the computer in forever.
And I don't even know why I was opening this computer bag.
But then in a secret pocket of the computer bag, I go, what's this letter?
And it's like, oh, my God, is the sausage nose letter?
Thank God.
It's awesome.
I hope you found it and were like, oh, it's probably a nice letter.
No. I would never keep a nice letter.
Of course not.
That's not how I operate.
Well, I figured we should explain why it's been so long.
Okay. Let's do it.
Basically, I'm a huge fuck up.
Right.
Yeah.
But I mean, we knew that.
Yeah.
So everyone can put the blame on me.
Yeah.
But we're back.
We're back with a vengeance.
We are so back.
unfortunately Oregon is not back
Oregon
Yeah
Oh God
God that was fucking brutal
They treated us like a high school team
Oh man
That was
There was a moment in the second half
Where if
If San Anns were Pots and pans
The whole world would rattle
But if we could stop them
And when Dennis scored
It would have been like
Let's see what would have been
24?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Maybe 2432, something like earth.
Yeah.
Yeah, if we got the extra, the two-point conversion.
Yeah.
And then, whatever.
But instead, we didn't score, then they wouldn't score.
So then it was like 1741 or whatever the hell of it was.
It was rough.
God.
Yeah.
It's all right.
The Boise State loss, too.
That's where Conner's from.
So Texas is our last.
hope.
Texas barely got out of that Arizona State game.
That was a crazy game.
Fourth and 12, all Arizona State had to do is get a stop.
And they blitz like 12 people and forget to put anybody back.
Through the touchdown.
And it's just like, just don't give up a touchdown.
Don't get behind you.
Oh, my God.
I loved that.
But one stop is all they needed.
anyway. Yeah. Whatever.
And Notre Dame just beat Georgia. I know.
Crazy. Yeah. I don't know about these playoffs. It's nuts that like so you got
through the whole regular season and then you got to win four more, some of these teams,
four more games. That's like a half season right there. Yeah. No, and I don't understand
how they set up the ranking system because I don't know. Some teams like the first round,
there were no good games. Ohio State should
have been higher than eighth that's what screwed us they might be the best team of the country they
are i think they should be number one but uh yeah they they looked pretty dominant yesterday
and that fucking receiver they got yeah and then that that uh soyer got on defense i know it's brutal
unbelievable but dylan gabriel looked like here's my height out there which sucks because it's
13th season playing cards football.
He was 45.
I know.
He's like that guy on the bench warmers.
He's like, are you sure you're 12?
Yeah.
I think we might get to Texas quarterback, though.
Really?
Next year.
Oh, no, yours are going to the NFL.
Manning?
No, no.
Ewers.
Youers is going to come to Oregon?
They're saying he's had offers for six million a year from NIL.
I'd take it.
They got Manning anyways.
Yeah.
Well, yeah, that was.
It was a bummer.
Yeah, that sucked.
We got a little bit to catch up on the most important of being that I'm a hybrid athlete now.
You are?
You are?
I thought we talked about that.
Did we?
No.
Oh, shit.
Yeah.
So yeah, you dominated that ultra.
I won my division.
The non-binary.
Non-binary division.
Yeah.
I blew the competition out of the water.
How was your first ultra?
There was a couple times on that last lap.
wanted to cry.
And it did, it was because it hurt so bad, but I was so angry because of how bad it hurt.
Yeah.
And stopping didn't help it.
You know, that's the thing.
You stop and you're not getting any closer to being done.
No.
No, it's like, but you need to keep going and it hurts so bad.
That's what sucked is like, I have to keep.
There was no choice.
It was like, this is bullshit.
Especially we're far on the backside.
And you're like, I mean.
I mean, I guess a helicopter could get here.
Yeah.
But it's only like three miles to the finish.
Where's one of those guys in the gators to drive me down?
Oh, God, I know.
Yeah, I felt great for the first 18 miles.
100 yards?
Really?
You felt good for 18?
Yeah.
That was almost, let's see, three laps would have been 20-some miles, right?
Yeah, it was just shy of, yeah, I think the third lap ended with 24.
So like halfway through the second one or halfway through the third lap.
I felt good.
I think, you know, I was still running 830s and nines on the flats during that time.
When I passed you, I felt really good.
And then it was a couple hundred yards after that.
It was when I hit the wall.
Yeah.
But it was good.
Somehow I got it done.
We don't know how.
That's impressive.
I don't think anyone believed I was going to do it.
I mean, I knew.
Well, the thing is, it's like,
People can do it.
I mean, physically you can do it.
For sure.
It's just how much pain do you want to go through?
And most people, they have to start dealing with every step hurts,
and they're just figure out some way to get out and just quit.
I mean, I saw a guy just saw him with what he was running with Wayne the other day,
and he said he finished.
I think he was way back too, but point is he finished.
And last year, he quit on lap three.
Yeah, I talked to that guy.
Oh, did you?
Yeah, nice guy.
Yeah, super nice. So he got to finish. That's great. And that's, I mean, just that is such a win.
Yeah. Because it's so far, it was a shitty day, muddy. Yeah. It hurts. It's like, man, 50K is
is legit. Yeah. That last lap, you know, coming down off the top, the sun came out, beautiful sunset. That gave me a
little bit of energy, but this kid passed me and he was like, come on, bro, let's finish strong.
Yeah.
And I was in so much pain.
I looked at him.
I just said, fuck you.
Yeah.
That's the beautiful spirit of Ultra.
Yeah.
Just that common man and us help each other out.
I apologize.
You haven't developed that skill yet or that attribute.
When I am in pain, I don't want anyone to talk to me.
Yeah.
Ever.
I think a lot of people are like.
that. Yeah. But that was good. I think I want to do another one. Yeah, kudos. That was, that's impressive.
But yeah, after, right after, I was like, I never want to run again. Yeah. And now I'm like,
seven hours, pretty slow. I want to do it faster. Yeah. I always say the first one,
time doesn't matter. Yeah. Just get the finish. Yeah. Just getting that fucking metal or whatever
the hell it is. I didn't get anything. Well, you got, well, good job. You got a good job. You got a good
job. I got a high five. No medal? Why? Too slow? Maybe it's because I came in so
they'd packed up all the medals. After seven hours, they're like, yeah, no, we got to get going.
No, I don't know. I thought you should have got a finisher medal. No, it's okay. I don't want the
participation award. But yeah. It's a big accomplishment though. Yeah. I've seen you've been running a lot.
Yeah. What's that about?
I'm getting ready for this
freaking gauntlet that's going to be shoved up my ass
on January 25th.
That's on a different website.
Oh, yeah.
That's paid for content.
Yeah, that's only fans.
Yeah, so we got Taylor's race.
It's called, what is it, Spike Camp?
Is that what it's called?
Yeah.
So on Piscca, 12 hours of fun on Piscan.
How many times? How many summits can you do up to main trail?
That's going to be brutal.
Yeah. Are you doing it?
No.
Tell me a little bit about this hyperbaric treatment you've got going on.
Shit, I don't know, but I told the owner of it, he was like the other day, he's like,
so, tell me about you do podcasts?
And I'm like, yeah.
And he's just like, how does that work?
And then I'm like, oh, okay.
Do you want to be on it?
Yeah.
You know, and I actually want him on because I don't know what the fuck it does.
Yeah.
Connor,
Connor was saying that.
He'd probably be a good guest.
Yeah.
So he's going to, I told him, I said, let's see how I do in this, in the shove the man up your ass.
Conlet.
And then afterwards, let's do the, let's do a podcast.
Let's find out about hyperbaric.
Because I'll be honest, I haven't felt this.
Well, not now because I'm sore as fuck from this, this new year.
something else getting shoved up your ass.
Yeah, this New Year's and New Year's Day back to back 10Ks.
But so I can't judge it right now.
But I haven't felt this good and I've been hurt.
Really?
I don't talk about, I mean, other than the foot, people like, okay, shut up.
Shut the fuck up about your foot.
But also my calf has been hurt, as you know, because you made it hurt.
I pulled it running with, with Truitt after stopping and starting on a freezing day to take photos.
and I could not oh no and then I did Cole Hawker ran with him and then ran with Michael Brent
and then really fucked it up on the treadmill walked up and uh anyway so I went to the hyperbaric
and just been pounding it like um no we're getting to get distracted by the other stuff I was
with the pounding reference but you say don't get me started yeah and so I did like back-to-back
hyperbaric days and I was just like I
I don't know what's going on, but I feel pretty good.
So I went out for that New Year's Day,
and I never run fast other than what's true at that one time a few weeks ago.
Never run fast, and I'm like, I don't even know how fast I can.
I never wear a water.
So I just take off if Felike I was running, I think three minute miles.
And these little fast freaks were going out, and somehow,
I ended up feeling good and had a pretty good 10K time.
And then the next day, I was sore because I never run fast.
And I get up to go run the Newers Day one.
And I'm like, there's no way I'll be able to do this shit.
There's no way.
And I felt terrible.
And it was only 30 seconds slower.
So I have no idea how.
Well, we'll have to get them on because I don't even know what it is.
You lay in this chamber.
I think it gets up to like 400 PSI.
feels like your ears are going to explode.
And I almost had to pull the rip cord to get out of there and eject.
But you blow like this and then pop your, do stuff like that.
And then once your ears get used to it, it's fine.
And then you're just breathing, I think, like solid, I don't even know, pure oxygen.
I don't know.
I don't even know anything about it.
But all I know is my body has responded.
So we'll find out from the owner.
He's a cool guy.
Matt.
What were those 10K times?
I mean, they're not even fast, but for my old ass, they're fast.
Or they're not fast, but they're okay.
I think 3851 and 3920.
Pretty quick.
I know I couldn't do that.
I don't know.
Now you're an ultramarathoner.
Hybrid athlete.
Yeah.
I mean, you guys are lucky I didn't show up for the Christmas bench off.
That's all I got to say.
Oh, you would have crushed.
Tanner. He only got 21. That's easy work. What's your best now? Two 30 for one. Well, so 225,
probably 20 times. I think so. Yeah, you wrap out 225. Yeah, exactly. You had to go for a high
max. Well, okay, so Tanner 21, Truitt, what was he, 15? Yeah, I think so. Yeah, 15.
And, yeah. And I was way back this year. Way, way, way back.
Um, but also truitt in the ultra, he definitely fucked up.
He had for three laps, he was doing great.
But then he called me, dad, I'm cramping up.
I need salt and I'm here because I was hurt so I didn't run.
And I got him, got over there for the third lap, took off with him for the last lap.
And maybe 300 yards out of the like staging area or the,
the laps came through and the finish was, he like locked, could not take a step, was bent over,
legs cramped, couldn't take a step.
And I'm like, does this help your time?
He was like so miserable.
So that whole lap was so slow.
But he was flying for to start.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, thinking you don't need water is probably a mistake.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And now I told one of the race guys the other day.
And I said, they'd asked, they couldn't believe how fast true it was going out of there.
And they weren't even ready at some of the, um, the water stations and stuff.
They're the check stations.
Yeah.
Because he got there too fast.
And they were like scrambling.
And I said, yeah, he's, he's a beast.
He's just not very smart.
So he'll get that smartness and who knows what will happen.
But yeah, just it's, you know, those ultras got to hydrate, got a fuel, got to take salt.
Yeah, the good news.
I was moving so slow.
I wasn't sweating.
So.
Good.
I was hydrated the whole time.
That was smart.
Yeah.
See, so you were more calculated.
But I'll tell you what did help me on the 50K or my speed lands.
Not those.
Speaking of, so this is, you know, I got a little announcement for these.
These are the Roy Roth edition.
Well, it's legends, Roy Roth, legends never die inside.
And I don't know if you can.
see that. Let me see if I can pull it out. So this right here, kind of cool. And I just talked to Jill
the other day, Roy's wife. And so I said we have a portion of the proceeds going to a nonprofit.
So where she works at a nonprofit, that's where I had the first check sent to or the first
donation sent to. And then she mentioned that actually she wanted to help.
Roy wasn't involved in the initial,
I don't think they were going quite, you know,
when he was here with us,
but it's called Band of Brothers,
and it's a men's ministry group.
And so that's where the portion of the proceeds will go.
So I told her I'd write a check for the same amount
that we sent to where she was for that nonprofit to this one.
But Band of Brothers, a great group.
And that's, you know, she said Roy would be,
you know, it wasn't quite going when he was here,
but he'd be very interested in helping them out now.
Alan is what he was all about. So any, uh, when you purchase these, part of it will go to them.
Yeah. I got to say out of, out of all the speedland shoes you've done, I think those are my
favorite. And they got a little thing here that for the gators, you can hook your gators up.
Um, but yeah, great shoe. Anyway, check them out. They're available now. I think unless they're sold out.
Hmm. Um, other thing to catch up on is you went to Georgia for a couple things.
What did I do? Well, you went to nine line. Nine line. Yeah. Um,
I'm not wearing any of my merch.
Are you?
Okay.
No.
Oh.
Get your worst Waldo T-shirt.
I mean, it's smaller stripes, but...
Well, I'm a smaller guy.
Yeah, yeah.
No, Nilein, yeah.
They're doing all my merch fulfillment, and they're totally set up.
Great people, veteran-owned company.
I feel like I can really count on them.
And yeah, I love that visit.
That was fun.
Yeah.
We're going to be coming up with some sick stuff.
Yeah.
And then you did something else that I thought was pretty unique and definitely interesting.
Yeah, they just sent me a clip of that.
It was virtual reality.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So we did an interview and I went through like a boshuting tutorial, like a few different
segments of it.
Yeah.
And you go in this thing, there's cameras all around.
So it's just like if you have on the headset, they had me put on the headset.
And do you know who walk a flock is?
Yeah.
Whatever.
So he was their rapping.
And so they like you put this on.
And they said, okay, push on the screen.
You push like the play thing.
And then he's right there wrapping.
And you can just walk around him.
That's crazy.
And then you push one other button.
And then so that's where he's just in the room you're in.
Like he'd be standing right there.
And then if you push another button, then like he's in the club.
And you're in a club.
What?
Yeah, it's nuts.
Huh.
It's pretty wild.
Yeah, they just sent me the clip yesterday of how it's kind of going together.
How did everything come out?
You know, because obviously a bow has so many small little pieces.
Cameras don't have a problem capturing all that?
Yeah, and I think, like, when we were just watching that day, like you couldn't see the arrow.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
So I don't know.
I think they got a, I don't know what they do.
Stitch in the arrow or something.
Yeah, something like that.
Sure.
That makes sense.
Mm-hmm.
We also just wrapped up a couple of giveaways.
Yes.
I saw you made a post just tonight, actually.
Yeah, I did.
I tried to do it running, but with the light to the camera or my phone going right in my face and it's pitch black, I was going to run off a cliff.
But yeah, so the giveaway just ended.
We've got to wait a little bit for, you can enter by mail, just like the hate letter I read today.
Mail and ballots.
Yeah, mail or mail-in ballots.
So we have to technically wait.
If you entered by mail on the last day of the contest,
we have to wait seven days for that letter to get here.
So anyway, and then also it's an official sweepstake.
So I saw one guy said the other day, he's like,
it's like, oh, it felt like on the first giveaway you handpicked the winner
and just like it seems corporate.
I just want to go, shut the fuck up.
I'm giving away a $200 and whatever thousand.
truck and people are bitching about what to yeah there's has to be there's rules to it because it's
so much money so it's like a lottery basically you can't just I don't know whatever I just I don't
I don't get that it's like if okay if you don't if you think it's a scam don't enter you don't
you don't have to no one's forcing you to you did you're yeah you're not required to buy anything
but if you did want to buy a cool hat or hoodie guess what you could win a truck or side by side
It's just like, what is the downside?
How could you possibly turn this into something that impacts you so much?
You have to like complain.
They always find something.
God, I just don't.
I freaking don't get it.
It's not like somebody's like gun to their head.
You order something right now, by God.
You order three things.
I swear to God, I'm pulling this trigger.
Does that happen?
Hopefully that's me.
And the trigger does get pulled.
Yeah. Then you can, in this misery.
Well, anyways.
Yeah, so we're giving away that truck coming up and the side by side and 10,000 in cash.
Crazy.
I know.
Yeah.
I actually can't wait for that.
That should be pretty sweet.
Yeah, I just, I don't know.
We're pretty lucky to be able to do this and call this, quote, work.
Yeah.
And so on top of that to be able to give away, like, it could be technically life-changing type.
Because if somebody didn't want that truck, say they sold it for even $150,000, that's cash.
$150,000 cash.
I mean, they could probably sell it.
Probably more.
For more.
Yeah.
You know, then it's going to originally get sold for it because they're limited.
But, yeah, pretty incredible.
I know, you know, when we did the RAM giveaway, that was just super cool just to see the reaction
of the winner. Oh yeah, Gage. Yeah.
Yeah. So I'm excited for that.
And the first one was that Navy guy. He was awesome,
super just as genuine as can be. And
yeah, I don't know. I don't know.
I hate focusing on
the negativity or the
whatever, but
it's just fun.
It's like the letter you kept.
God, I know.
Well, yeah, like that ram track, I would say that was in my top five best moments of the year.
Oh, really?
Yeah, but I got my top three.
Oh, you do.
So should I put these in order?
I'll put them in order.
Okay.
At number three, I have Alaska.
That, to me, was just such a fun trip.
I had never been to Alaska before.
And to have a successful trip at that was, you know,
I just think that was great.
Yeah, I hope to get to go back.
Yeah, I mean, grizzly on the ground with the bow, tough to beat.
Yeah, tough to beat the adrenaline all of that.
That's for sure.
Yeah.
Number two would be jelly roll.
Which one?
The moda and jail.
I counted both because it was kind of lost.
That was also incredible, but, you know, something about the doing that at, you know,
the state penitentiary was, did I say it right this time?
I think the first time I said that.
I think so.
That was pretty close.
I think the first time I said penitentiary?
Yeah.
No, that was very impactful.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's one I think people ask me about the most.
Really?
Yeah.
Because pretty iconic.
Yeah.
It's like a Folsom prison, you know, Johnny Cash moment.
I know.
Pretty incredible.
And then number one.
Can you guess?
Drum roll.
uh no the san carlos bull oh yeah yeah that was pretty amazing um yeah that was just uh a lot of uh i don't know
it was just emotional uh but i think out of all the bulls this year that was my favorite and
favorite moment of all the whole year yeah so it was i don't want to say you know
People are epic, powerful, all this.
I say it all the time too.
But being there, especially with the tribe that came out,
the people from them, Apache tribe who came out that helped and just to hang out.
And, yeah, just a whole journey of that, like finding, trying to find a bowl of that caliber.
And, I mean, it's hard.
Yeah.
It's freaking, it was hard.
You know, anybody else.
also looking at that would be like they would shot any of those other bulls.
Yeah.
And I would have too.
So it's, but you want to do something that, you know, shows, I don't even, I don't want to say respect.
I don't even know what it shows, but just honors the area and the animals and what's, what the potential is there.
And so you want a special animal and that's how bull was for sure.
Yeah.
I know a couple of the guys there had followed me on Instagram and after the film came out, they reached out and like, oh, good job. It was great.
Really?
Yeah. That obviously means a lot to me.
Definitely.
Yeah.
What would you say your top moment is?
Oh, God.
On the spot.
Yeah, I know.
Let me think.
Let me think.
Well, the letter today, finding that, that's obviously number one.
My honorable mention would be the live streamer on.
rodeo drive.
Which one?
Oh, yeah.
The entertainer?
No, that was good.
I'm going to smoke some bud.
Oh, God.
I don't remember the...
What was it?
What else was it?
I'm swole.
Is that...
Yeah.
Oh, I know.
He is flexing.
God.
Did we record that?
No, he should.
Why?
I don't know.
He was recording it or live streaming it.
I know I looked for his live stream after.
And you couldn't find it.
No.
Yeah. I would say it's probably, well, the shit I took at the Gucci store.
Because, man, I had a stomachache. And yeah, especially after they wouldn't let me in.
So that was number one. No, that was number two.
Number two. So, yeah, the hater letter is number one. The Gucci is number two.
and number two
the Gucci Duki too
No pun intended
Yeah
I mean no bathroom
If you're not buying anything
If you're buying something
Yeah here's our bathroom
Yeah
I was like you guys have a bathroom now
How about for me?
Yes
Yeah
So that was to
Let's see
Number three
Number three B
I'm trying to think
What your top three might be
I feel like
The Two Bearers 5K with Jelly Roll Conan, that was pretty awesome to see him finish that.
I would say that has to be, yeah, I mean, that has to be number one, doesn't it?
Yeah, that whole day.
I think that's number one.
Number one.
Okay, we'll swap it out.
For the letter.
Okay.
I was going to say your Kill Tony Minute can be for 2025.
Yeah, yeah.
Okay.
So it's Jelly Roll finishing the Two Bears 5K.
It's finding the sausage nose letter.
Gucci dooky.
And the Gucci dokey.
That's my top three.
Good.
Perfect list.
Okay.
Well, now we know.
Yeah.
We talked about Spike Camp.
Yeah.
We got Max coming on.
Yeah.
Max Joliffe.
Moab 240 winner.
Beast.
Beast.
Yeah.
Stud.
So he's coming right before,
Truit's world record in pull-ups, day before.
Yeah, that should be pretty good.
We also have Josh Smith from M&KC coming on.
Yeah.
That'll be a good one.
And then what's the hyperbaric man sans name?
Matt.
Matt.
So he'll come on at some point.
Well, no, I said we've got to see how I do at the...
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
So at the fight camp.
and king of the mountain king of the mountain queen of the mountain but yeah there's going to be some good runners
there yeah so i don't know 12 hours of that shit is going to be i thought i was going to do it
like i thought well i'm going to do 10 the other day and i'm like oh man this sucks going straight up
and down so i went and did a few laps to that far gate just to get some miles in and i'd end up doing
six on Saturday.
And I think like 33 miles.
But yeah, just going straight up and down the main trail.
Definitely blows your quads out.
Yeah, I don't know.
I guess I'll have to do it at some point.
I don't know how many I could do.
My quads felt, well, I shouldn't say that.
They weren't the worst.
Oh, it was the worst.
Had to be just my feet and ankles.
Yeah.
My feet were fine after like, I mean, my toenails are all dead, but the pain of what?
My feet, my lower legs.
Yeah.
I tell people it felt like someone dropped a 2,000 pound cinder block on it.
It felt like they were going to implode.
How about Eric?
How'd he do?
Well, funny you ask.
It is funny because there were a lot of people out there that voted for him to beat me.
Are you keeping track of his hate?
Oh, yeah.
Okay.
Everyone that voted for Eric to beat me.
is on a naughty list.
Did you screenshot all their names or video it?
We're going to, I'll have to call them out.
Expose them.
Yeah.
What was it?
So you put up a poll.
What was the count, final count?
Who's going to win?
Him or you or him?
On my poll, I got most of the love.
I think it was like 70% me, 30% Eric.
Okay.
On his, it was like 55% him, 45% me.
Pretty tight though for his page.
But I do, I do got to say,
one of the haters
is in our camp
actually two of them
in our camp
Truitt and Alicia
oh
they thought Eric was going to get you
yeah and I told Truett
I said I had to thank him
because you know
at one point you called him
and he said I said why did you vote for Eric
and he said it's a mindset thing
yeah
I know
so in the back of my head the whole time
I just heard Truitt
that's a mindset thing
I think he has the mindset you don't
you know
Well, you know it would have really showed him, you should have beat Truit.
Yeah, I tried.
You know, it wasn't that far behind.
No, what?
I mean, two some hours?
And what's two hours out of seven, you know?
Like, is that like 1%?
Exactly.
One percent better.
It's nominal?
Yeah.
I mean, it's like, it's basically he out leaned you at the tape.
I mean, that comes down to me slipping on one of the up hills.
Right.
Yeah.
I mean, that's the thing is you.
I'd call it a tie.
Yeah.
And you were saying he was out so fast that they weren't even ready at some of it.
I was out so fast, they didn't even know that they weren't ready.
Right.
Because I was gone by the time they got there.
Pass them.
Yeah.
Exactly.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, most people were talking about this guy, this freak out there.
A blur is what I heard.
With the mullet and the glasses.
And I was like, wait, is he like tall and gangly?
like I know who that is
pretty gay looking
yeah he's the only non-binary
runner
that's my guy
yeah that's my guy
yeah so they were talking about you
I think when I came in
into that third lap I told you I was built different
and I meant it you know
I thought I said you were built different
well I'm surgically built
no but you were acting pretty good on that one
you took off out of there pretty good
That's funny you say that.
I told Eric afterwards, I was like, yeah, of course.
Like, you know, Cam came over.
He's like, how are you doing?
I'm like, oh, I'm fine.
Yeah.
Inside you were broken.
I took out of there.
And as soon as I got out of eyesight, oh, right?
Yeah.
I know.
It's so miserable, dude.
God.
Yeah.
Tanner came over and he's like, oh, how are you doing it?
I'm like, I think killing myself would be a better option right now.
Well, so imagine a hundred mileer.
So you did 30, what was it, two, one?
32, yeah.
Yeah.
So three times plus a little bit.
I mean, doesn't that seem crazy?
It seems impossible.
Yeah.
That's, I've always felt that too.
I mean, when I've done 100, you're done at whatever the race is.
Right.
Mentally, you're like, so after 100, I've been like, if this was 200, there's no fucking way.
But when you're like, so you're like, so you.
kind of gear your mind and body up for whatever you're doing. But when you know you're doing a 50k,
I think it would be like the ultimate, that's kind of why those backyard things are so,
you never really know what to, how far you're going. Yeah. So it's like, you know how when you're
doing, say even the 32-miler, you get three laps done. You're like, I'm 75% done. Yeah.
I mean, I only have this X amount left. A little boost of energy. When you don't know, that's rough.
That's a mind fuck for sure.
That's rough.
And that's how I don't get like Courtney, she won that one and went 283 miles, four miles every hour.
It was like three days.
That's insane.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The other thing I kind of had in my head, well, I had two things.
My screensaver was, uh, me.
Yeah.
You, you taking a shit.
Yeah.
No, it was.
That's inspiring.
Aren't we lucky?
I like that one.
Yeah.
We're blessed to be able to put ourselves through this pain.
Yeah.
There's tons of people out there that can't.
Oh, yeah.
No, definitely.
It's a privilege.
And then the other one was Michael Brandt, which he said,
he had one that was just like, you know,
super glue the on switch, basically.
But also, you know, once you get to a certain amount of pain,
you know, you're there, you're at the threshold.
It's not going to get worse.
I don't know about that.
Sounds good?
I was waiting for the pain to get so bad.
It kind of numbed.
Didn't happen.
It did not happen.
So we'll see.
I mean, longer than 32 sounds,
I don't think I could.
I think that was my max.
Well, you said you want to do another one.
Yeah.
What, 50K?
Yeah.
Or, okay.
I mean, I would like to do further.
Just a faster 50K to start?
Yeah, I guess to start.
I mean, I definitely, it's,
this is going to sound so stupid,
but obviously I'd like to do 100 eventually,
because it sounds impossible.
But I know there's a lot of failing
that's going to have to happen before that happens.
Yeah.
I mean, it's, I don't know.
There's certain groups.
I don't necessarily feel this way,
but certain groups feel like,
I mean, yes, it's an ultra at 50K,
ultra at 50K, ultra at 100K,
which is 62 miles.
But the real deal is 100 miles.
So that,
that's like the real ultra yeah i kind of feels like a a sham to say it was an ultra just because it's
longer than a marathon it's not but it's just yeah i mean it's you know that's you start off running
you do a 5k 10k half marathon marathon so it's all just different parts of your chapters yeah so a 50k is
a huge part huge chapter you know it's it is five miles past a marathon it is usually in the mouth
and in mud, it's, you know, I don't know how many times harder, but.
Yeah, I mean, obviously I haven't ever run a marathon.
Speaking of which, I did think about maybe doing the Eugene marathon,
but that to me sounds worse than trail running for.
In some ways it is.
Yeah.
Especially if you're trying to push that pace.
Which we all know I wouldn't.
Yeah, I mean, with those, see, with an ultra,
nobody really knows what a good time is, oddly.
because they're just like, wait, what?
It's on a hill and mud and blah, blah, blah.
It's this far.
So they're like, you just finish, you're kind of a stuck.
In a marathon, everyone knows what fast, what slow, what, you know.
So, yeah, you say, you know, you wouldn't push,
but you'd still want to break four.
Yeah, right.
You know, and get in the threes.
That's still good.
And to do that, it doesn't seem like it would be hard.
Fricking hard.
Yeah.
I mean, with the, with the ultra at least, like on the uphills, I was power hiking.
So you kind of, it's almost a little bit of a break.
I found that part at least.
Yeah.
I was like looking forward to the uphills.
Yeah.
You don't have that.
So you feel like a bigger loser when you walk.
So.
Yeah.
It's, I mean, you just, it just, you just want to stop.
But especially the time, the clock going when you're not moving very fast on a marathon.
really adds out.
I've even been like on a marathon
where I look at my time,
I got two miles left.
I'm like,
if I walk these two miles,
would I still break three
or how much room for
fudging around do I have?
Because it hurts so bad.
You're like,
if the wheels fall off
and I can only do a 10-minute mile,
then what would I be?
Yeah, what does it have to be for sub?
Four.
Eight.
Shit, I don't even know.
Yeah, just Shia eights maybe?
I know Trude did that one in 330 when he's 13.
Do some quick math.
And I think it was like, I think it was under eights.
I think you're right.
Yeah.
No, 330 is eight flat.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
Okay, so yeah, right there.
So can you do eights?
For that long?
Yeah. I don't think so. Yeah. I don't think so. Yeah. I did. I ran when I was back in Montana and I did a 5k and I did it like 720s. And I felt really good. That's the other thing. It is now harder for me to get my heart rate to what it used to be all the time, which was like 190s. Yeah. What was it at at that 720s? I think it was like 172. That's not bad.
Yeah. Which still isn't great. But for me, I was like, in an altitude. You know, I was high.
high altitude training oh that's a hybrid athlete shit there dude built different yeah yeah yeah
definitely are yeah i know after the the 50k i stupid but i went to this like christmas party
and this christmas dinner and everyone was like why are you walking like that and i didn't want to
tell people i ran a 50k yeah i just said i have irritable bowel syndrome that's good that's better yeah that's
much better than a cool accomplishment.
Yeah.
Good decision.
Fits me better anyways.
Yeah, just to make it awkward.
Yeah.
I shit my pants.
Speaking of Katie, who says you're more awkward than normal sometimes, her deer meets down.
So I had to go pick it up and send it to her.
Nice.
Yeah.
So I just texted her today for address.
But that reminds me.
Anytime the word awkward comes up, I think of her.
her labeling you that.
Well, she's not wrong.
Yeah.
No, it's good that, I mean, to do 720s, that's actually running.
Yeah, I mean, but I only have heard 5K.
Yeah, it's all right.
Yeah.
It's a start.
Times that by 10.
Yeah, I know.
It's, I don't know.
When you push the pace, I mean, even the fuck, those 10Ks I just did hurt.
I was like, it felt like I was sprinting.
I don't, I need to try and do it for longer than a 5K, but I don't, it hurts.
Yeah, how this one went where it started over Valley River and then it went, you know that red bridge it goes over.
Yeah.
You're kind of a where you live.
Yeah.
Went over that, then back.
Then went past where, I think, yeah, past where you live.
have passed Marist and then to there's that other footbridge we took pictures kind of right there
and you go to the middle of that then you go back then back on the bike path all the way back to
Valley River and then there's a footbridge at Valley River and you go over and around a little
park over there then back and so basically you're a Valley River and you're like oh I just got
to run to Maristin back it's like that is it seems like you can almost see that far yeah that sounds
longer than a 10k well it to me it sounds close
But running, I'm just like, I mean, normally I never even hear myself breathing.
And I'm like blowing spit everywhere and snot.
And I'm like thinking I want to try to win, obviously.
And so I was thinking people were on my ass a whole time.
And it's like, man, that hurt.
Yeah, I try to run and breathe through my nose.
and when you run that hard, no chance.
Yeah, I mean, I can barely sit on the couch
and breathe through my sausage nose.
Yeah, a mouth feeder.
Yeah.
But, no, it's cool.
Yeah, we got some good running stuff coming up.
Yeah.
Good running guests.
Yeah, I asked that the girl, well, her agent,
She broke the record on the Appalachian Trail.
I think she's going to come.
Tara Downer's name.
And yeah, she broke the all-time record.
And I think it's like 2,000-some miles.
She did it in 40 days.
But, yeah, stud.
So I think she might come too.
That'd be sweet.
I know.
Lots of good ones.
Yeah.
Well, that's it on my list.
That's all you had?
All I had.
Oh, and I had a special, I had this whole metal
case in there from Montana Knife Company with my new knife coming out. But I think I wanted to save
that for when Josh is here. It's good idea. Since it's just in a few days. Yeah. Yeah, next week.
Yeah. So all right. So that's next up on the next podcast. We're going to talk about
douchebag bow hunters. Stay tuned. Keep hammering.
