Starting point is 00:00:00 Every step I take I move my truth. Every time they tell me stop I use. Every comment hate that makes my feel. Gather up my energy and boom. I hear them talking, saying the way that I'm moving so reckless. That is a part of my mind I've been blessed with. Giving my blood so I am relentless. Mike check one, two.
Starting point is 00:00:18 This is a key Krammering Collective with Kramer and Haines and Iri-Higdy. In later. What's up? This is. STW number nine. Nine. Nine.
Starting point is 00:00:39 Nine, nine. Nine and nine and one. Yeah, so what, do anything to talk about? Man, you haven't been up to much. No. I don't think there's really anything to cover. Yeah. We can talk about our sleep scores.
Starting point is 00:00:56 Oh, my God. I have not, I cannot sleep. My body's all from that radius. Really? I'm not asleep. Still getting terrible scores? Yeah. I mean, well, I don't know what it was last night, but last night, let's see, let's recap.
Starting point is 00:01:10 Started out in my bed, ended up in the spare bedroom on the couch, took a sauna at, I don't even know what time, maybe two, back to the couch. Oh, no, laid in the sauna naked for a while because I forgot to turn it on. So I like, you have to hit it twice. So it was 70. He was still not freezing, but when you don't have any clothes on laying on wood, it's like, okay, is this thing going to get warm? So I get back up, still naked, mind you. Thank you. Turned it on, back in, back onto the couch, back into my bed, back into the spare bed,
Starting point is 00:01:44 where I lasted until about seven, then I was supposed to get a massage this morning. So back into my, the real bed, didn't hear my alarm because I actually fell asleep finally and then it was almost late for the massage. Huh. Well, that's why you were texting. we had 1147. Yeah. So I got a cumulative total. I think my watch said of 16 seconds of sleep. Nice.
Starting point is 00:02:10 Yeah. Oh, that's great. You feel rested? Yeah, they recommended 20. So I was just, my sleep score is like 80. Well, you're elite. So you don't need 100 seconds or 80 seconds. You just need, you say 20.
Starting point is 00:02:24 I don't know. I don't know. Get numbers. Yeah. I don't know. Pire squared. Well, I think the people, all the people at home watching all our fans from around the world And our live audience and in studio. Yeah, want to know about Leadville. I call it Leadville.
Starting point is 00:02:44 Yeah, Leadville was good. I've been, yeah, I've been bleeding out of all orifices since the race. It seems like, I don't know, it's so dry up there. Dude. It's like in the, so I don't know, if we ever take a shower together, if I blow my nose. No, oh, see, I got you. Just chill out. Blow my nose. There's like blood coming out still. And I know you're going to think when I said Orphus, you bloody asses remind you of your college parties.
Starting point is 00:03:14 But no, that's not what I'm talking about. It was out my nose still from, I guess, that dry, air, high desert air or something. Yeah, my bloody nose has stopped. My scabs are almost stopped bleeding. The thing about also the dry air is it affects how dry the food is. I think three out of the four meals we had up there were tasted like they were made with sand. Isn't there a SpongeBob episode where everything's made out of sand? Yes.
Starting point is 00:03:48 Studio audience. Is there? Yes. We've got that verified. Yes. That's what it tasted like. So I don't know. I thought it was pretty good.
Starting point is 00:03:58 Leadville. I thought the Leadville Hotel was tits. That first chicken sandwich we got almost killed me. I never had a chicken sandwich. I don't do chicken. I do. It's got to be beef, elks, dears, bears. Bears beats Battlestar Galactica.
Starting point is 00:04:16 Bacon. All right. Well. The five bees. Let's get into it. Okay. So we had a great flight in. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:28 So it's supposed to be like a two-hour flight. Yeah, I think we took off at... We're supposed to take up... We were supposed to board like a 12-something. Yeah. Right? So I got there. I'm always early.
Starting point is 00:04:41 You're always late. But I got there early. I don't know why. Because we had to wait for two stickers. Remember the stickers? Yes. Talk about sustenance. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:52 Got to keep that shit going. So we hold up. We've got to wait for the stickers. The maintenance guy lives in, I don't, I don't know, in Texas. So, should be here in a couple days. But, yeah, so we got the stickers finally. Thank God.
Starting point is 00:05:07 Because what if we wouldn't have had them? I don't even want to imagine. And then we went, it's supposed to be two-hour flight to Denver. Let's go almost land in Denver. Get about, I don't know, from the table to the ground from landing. And the pilot just turns into the biggest pussy ever. I'll say, Bob, back up. Here we go back up.
Starting point is 00:05:28 I'm like, what the fuck is going on? I was, you know, I was taking my, I had my seatbelt off. I had my shit already. I'm like, ready to get off. He's back up in the air. Oh, we got to go to Colorado Springs because of this storm. Well, yeah. I'm like, bitch, you just, you made it through the storm.
Starting point is 00:05:44 Running out of fuel. So they didn't have, because we already did. We already waited. Yeah. Well, we did our little circle. So we didn't have fuel to do a couple more circles. Yeah. So we had to go get gas somewhere, Colorado Springs, with about 20 other planes.
Starting point is 00:05:58 and they're saying, yeah, you can't get off. When other people were getting off the other planes, so I go up there and I'm like, how can you not let me off? I mean, am I hostage? Why can't I get off here? Am I under arrest? What did it?
Starting point is 00:06:13 What have I done wrong? They said, no, you can't get off. I'm like, well, those people got off. And anyway, wasn't able to get off because we were the same distance from Leadville, from Colorado Springs, as you would be from Denver. So I'm like, I'm just going to get started because by the time you dick around there, wait for planes, circle around, probably can't land again.
Starting point is 00:06:34 Who knows when you're going to get in. But anyway, it took us instead of two hours, seven hours. How's that? That's longer. God. And then I didn't want to be up super late that night and get to Leadville and have everything closed down because it would be like two in the morning. So we got a hotel closer or like halfway in between. Yeah, west side of Denver.
Starting point is 00:06:56 Yeah. And did the trip in the morning for the mandatory meeting. Yeah, had to get there for the mandatory meeting, which they let us know if you have any kind of bodily movement, P.P. or Caca, you would get thrown in jail. Where? Where was this? At Leadville. Oh, during the race? Yeah. Yeah, I know. Well, no words. I haven't shit since Leadville. We saved the course.
Starting point is 00:07:21 Oh, good. That's just how much this race meant. And how bad did you want it? Yeah, right. How pristine I wanted to keep the country. I sewed my butthole shut. Yeah, just for you guys, just for the race across the sky. Yeah, so that was Friday.
Starting point is 00:07:41 We finally get to Ludville on Friday, mandatory meetings. Connor and I went to a mandatory safety briefing. We learned a lot. I learned how to do CPR. And then kind of just hung out the rest of the day. You went to bed early, tried to. Yeah, I did. I actually, yeah, what did we do that day?
Starting point is 00:08:03 Just went to that meeting. Got food. Got food, yeah. So my plan was, because the race starts at 4 a.m. Saturday morning, August 16th, Leadville, Main Street. I'm like, oh, okay, I'm going to get up probably, what time was I going to get up? Like 3 or 2.30? I can't remember why.
Starting point is 00:08:22 Because you got to get all your food in, take care of your business, do whatever, get ready to run 100 miles. So I'm like, I want to go to bed at like six. I wasn't in bed of six, but took like all the sleeping things. They sell NyQuil, horse tranquilizers, everything. I'm like, I'm going to sleep. I don't care what happens. So I did, got to sleep like at 6.30 and woke up at 1041 and never went back to sleep. Just a little early.
Starting point is 00:08:52 God. So I really screwed myself over on that. But I had plenty of time to get my pre-race prep done. Yeah. So I had six hours. Were you feeling prepped walking to the start line? God. Yeah, so that sucked.
Starting point is 00:09:08 But whatever. I just don't know. If anybody ever gets a good night's sleep before 100, let me know because I don't know how you do it. Oh, speaking of which, Eric Umanhofer and I are going to run 50 miles around Hamlin track on Sunday. What? Just for shits and gigs. No, you're not. Well, I'm going to try.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Well, I'll tell you right now how this is going to go. Okay. It's not happening. But it's good to dream. 50 miles? What's 50 times four? Like 10,000 laps? Yeah, I think so.
Starting point is 00:09:39 10,004 laps. Yeah. Yeah, it's not going to be fun. But I figured the last 50K I ran, I felt it hurt. But at the end, I was like, you know, I could have gone probably nine more miles before I was really in pain. So what's 10 more after that?
Starting point is 00:09:57 Yeah, that's true. And it wasn't that downhill, but well, yeah. This track is nice and squishy. Yeah. The Hamlin track, huh? It's supposed to be like 93 degrees. There's not an ounce of shade out there. No.
Starting point is 00:10:13 I mean the goalposts. Which I fit in. For you, it would block you completely. Yeah, that's a ton of shade. What are you talking about? Yeah, no, it's, well, I'll be interested to see. I'll probably just drive by and throw shit at you guys or something. eggs and shit.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Hey, I finally shit after Leadville. Yeah, well, look. Yeah. It's, uh, well, I'm, okay. We should take how far are they going to go? Taryn, tell me, what's your guess? Thank you. Whoa.
Starting point is 00:10:43 The only Haynes member to believe that means five miles. Because I think you're making it one. Believing in you is five miles. Larry, what the fuck do you think about this retarded idea? I think James, makes it you're not on or you're not in our ears ears yeah got no ears that's what it was yeah oh you can't okay you can't it's fine we don't really care about yeah that's giddyan i think james goes i think gideon i think giddian goes i think it goes 15 35 short damn i think
Starting point is 00:11:26 umenhofer goes i think umanhofer goes i think um and And I don't think it's because they're not capable. I think I just think they're going to get bored. I think they're going to lose interest. Here's the problem is because nobody believes in me, I'm staying out there until I get it done. You know, I've heard a lot of people say shit like this. Like, I'll never quit.
Starting point is 00:11:52 I'll never DNF. All, I'll mean this is all I care. I'd die before I'd. Okay. But remember, I said the same thing with the first 50K and you said the same thing with that too. I did? Yeah, I said, I'm either going to, I'm going to stay up on that hill until the time's over. And you're like, all right, we'll see.
Starting point is 00:12:12 Yeah, I think that I think 50 miles, 200 laps is fucking miserable. It's going to be terrible. Yeah. So I think, I know you could go 50 miles. I don't doubt you could go 50 miles. I think the setting is a tough one. Like if you're doing, say, around Hood or St. Helens, I think those are about 47. Those are doable.
Starting point is 00:12:35 Because when you get to the other side, what are you supposed to do? Yeah, right. I got to get back to the car. At this, the car is right there. Yeah. When you hit 25, you're like, that's a good effort. No, 25 and a half, you're like, I'm just walking across the football field now. There's the exit.
Starting point is 00:12:50 Yeah, you do have to run right by the exit every time. Yeah. So I just think it's too convenient to be like, this is retarded. Does anybody know about this? Oh, yeah, we said it on the podcast. Now we're... That's a good point. I take it all...
Starting point is 00:13:03 Let's edit this out. It's shit talkers weekly. Yeah. It's like, you're not responsible for what you say. No. No, this is like, that would be like me being responsible for what I say. Yeah. And that's not happening.
Starting point is 00:13:16 It can't be. Yeah, so we'll see. We'll see how that goes. But anyways. That'd be fun. Yeah. It'll be fun. What time?
Starting point is 00:13:24 I probably start at like 1 p.m. heat of the day. Well, let's see. I think it's going to take us 12 hours, is my guess. Maybe more. I have not been running at all. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:39 I mean, you saw me at Ludville. I barely make it up the stairs. Well, this is lower than Leadville, I think, is it? Eugene's 300 feet. Yeah, by I think like 50 or 60 feet. Yeah. Meeters. We do meters here.
Starting point is 00:13:54 Well, yeah, that should help. Because that's one reason why I think I didn't shit because I was out of breath. I don't have good enough cardio to take a shit. This is like zapping me. There's no oxygen here. Yeah. It was a all right. Well, that's, I'm looking forward to that now.
Starting point is 00:14:15 Yeah. Put it on your calendars. Yeah. Mark it, date it, show up. It's done. We're going to have a live audience. It's a done deal. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:23 Who's a live audience? Oh, Taryn's there? Yeah. She's a live audience at every event, apparently. Hey, Larry, are you filming this? This video probably gets done before any of my videos. Yeah, exactly. I think so.
Starting point is 00:14:35 Like, turn around. This will be done before Cocodona for sure. Oh, shit. And probably better, too. So, anyway, that's a side note. Side note. Okay, so back to Leadville. Race day.
Starting point is 00:14:58 You slept a bunch, just to recap. wake up at a little ahead of schedule. 10. And then there wasn't honestly, I think we walked out there at like 340, got to the start line and it went by quick. Yeah. It was fucking time to go. Well, it went by quick.
Starting point is 00:15:18 The 20 minutes? Yeah. Not the 100 miles. No. Yeah. The 20 minutes went by a little too quick. That was kind of just fun, just high-fiving everybody. And like, are you guys ready, blah, blah, blah.
Starting point is 00:15:30 That whole thing, lost Truitt right out of the gate. We were together for a minute. Didn't get a little phone video of the start. Didn't get anything at the end either, so that was good. That's fun. That worked out great. Let me think. So yeah, got to the start.
Starting point is 00:15:47 I figured he was up there. He was, you know, had some big goals. Everybody's amped up. It's a downhill start. Run like a five-minute mile. Yeah, then just get rolling. And it was like a good, perfect day to run. It wasn't crazy hot.
Starting point is 00:16:08 Yeah, it was just an awesome environment, good people. Yeah, so just a long day. Yeah. So May Queen, which was 12 miles, it's the first aid station, you came in and to my surprise, mentioned something about your calf, which to me, if you're saying something that early, is not a good sign. No, it's not great. No, I always like having a hard time running for that first section.
Starting point is 00:16:34 The first 10 miles, I'm like, well, I'm not going to be able to finish this thing because my calf, my hamstring, everything was jacked up. I could not run. But I was trying to. I mean, I think like my first, I don't know, there's some sevens, some eight-minute miles on there way too fast. Shouldn't have been doing that. But just trying to get like warmed up and the juice is flown a little bit,
Starting point is 00:16:57 trying to get something loosened up and it just wasn't happening. So I thought, yeah, there's no way this is going to happen today. My body's just like, I thought maybe since after Kokadona just a couple months ago and I'm, you know, an ancient, ancient. I don't know, two big races in one summer might be too much. That's what it felt like. Yeah, I know. When you came into that first age station, you said it to me when you're leaving and I was like, I go through my head all the, all the possibilities. And I'm like, usually when I ask him how he's doing it in the.
Starting point is 00:17:30 beginning of the race, it's like, good. Mm-hmm. So when you said something, I was like, it can't be, it's got to be bad. Yeah, because even if it's not good, I always say good. I know. Because you don't want to even put that out there in the zeitgeist. Is this another zeitgeist reference? I figure if you.
Starting point is 00:17:50 So if I put it out in the zeitgeist, it's going to become reality. But normally I just, you know, lie and say, no, it's all good. But yeah, this is a rough one. I didn't feel good. Yeah. You came in just behind Truitt by, I think, two minutes. It wasn't much at all. And then outward bound was another 11 point something miles. And you came in there also just behind Truitt. Actually, to the point where you guys kind of met up, he was on his way out. You were on your way in. shared a few words. How was that? Yeah, it was good. I mean, I wanted him to crush it. He hasn't really had a good 100 mile performance yet. He's only done one. And, oh, he went over 100 at BPN, and that was kind of a rough, rough one too. But he hasn't really had one that went well, but he's in, like, incredible shape.
Starting point is 00:18:43 So I wanted him, I wanted him to be successful. And so, yeah, I was just, you know, hoping he was feeling good. And we were 23 or so miles into that. I think it took, like, four hours to get there. We had some climbing to do. but yeah i got there and yeah right on is right with him kind of uh but yeah i was i felt like i was fading and to be honest i i didn't have a good day i mean i just i just never felt i never felt good it was it was just one of those days where you know i mean you you yeah you want to feel good
Starting point is 00:19:22 you want to have a good performance you want to be at your best and it's just sometimes though i don't own. It just, I struggled, I felt like I struggled all day just trying to keep the wheels on. Yeah. And then, so after that was Twin Lakes, which is pretty cool. There's a ton of people. You kind of run through this tunnel. But it was a shit show up there. Holy shit. Yeah. And I guess there's less people there this year than normal, but it seemed like a carnival in there. Yeah. It was a while. I mean, they had food trucks and, you know, a convenience store. It was fun. Yeah. The thing is, strip club. Yeah. That was where.
Starting point is 00:19:57 I hung out all day. Men strip club. Yeah, I know. Thunder done under. But so how the race worked is that was the last point that spectators or media could go. So from there, you'd go up to Hope Pass and Winfield. So basically everyone just hung out there and waited for their racers to come back. So what was that?
Starting point is 00:20:20 Was that 38 miles? Wasn't it? Yep. That'd have been. Yeah, right in there. 38? I think it was just shy at 38 because it was 14. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:31 So it was 38. 38. So we had from 38 you do 12 over the hill, over Hope pass. So you're at 50 at the turnaround. 12 back and then we're back at 62. Yep. Yeah. So we got 100K done.
Starting point is 00:20:45 By the time we go up and over Hope and back over Hope, you're at 62. You got 38 left for the night. But hope pass is legit. Yeah. How is that climb? It was legit. It was, I mean,
Starting point is 00:20:58 it was good. I'm definitely better in the mountains that I am on flat. But, yeah, again, it's just kind of a rough day. I had in my head, I always,
Starting point is 00:21:08 I wanted to catch Truit. I mean, I just don't let people win just to win. Yeah, right. I mean, if they beat me great. And I wanted him to, I did want him to be me,
Starting point is 00:21:15 but not without my best effort. Yeah. Right. Or I didn't want him to beat me. I wanted him to have his best effort and me to have my best effort and whoever wins, wins. So I was, was keeping track every eight station i'm like how how far up is he how far up is he and um so on that one
Starting point is 00:21:34 i saw him i was heading down we went up over hope everything's good heading down and then the leaders were coming back like roach was coming back and he was flying you know whatever whatever i mean i've talked a little shit about him but not about him just about like i guess uh building up western and and then kind of shit in the bed, which he has admitted himself. And he said it, he said himself, he went into it with the wrong attitude about, like, shocking the world and this and that and making it about this big thing. I said about the performance. But, um, so all that aside, I can't take anything away from his at lead bill.
Starting point is 00:22:15 He fucking dominates. And he is so. And I, I commented to him because he commented on my post. And I said, I go, dude, hey, whatever, I race the same course. you raced on the same day, and I have no idea how you put in that performance on those settings and those conditions. It is hard. People talk about, I've even said Leadville isn't necessarily like one of the hardest hundreds, and I don't think it is, but it's definitely not easy. Yeah. Shit is hard, dude. And for him to run in the 15s, God, he won by three hours.
Starting point is 00:22:51 Yeah. I mean, he came through Twin Lakes before. the last couple people made the cutoff into Twin Lakes on their way out. 38 miles. Yeah. He's at 62. Yeah. And he came in and just barely broke stride, filled up his water. And then there's that hill leaving Twin Lakes when you're coming back in.
Starting point is 00:23:10 It's kind of steep. Didn't break stride. Ran up it? Straight up it. Everyone was like, what the fuck is that guy on? God. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:18 And Ann Flower too, really. I mean. What a day. She was like all smiles through there too. I don't think she first. first hundred I don't think she had a pacer and she had a crew probably but no pacer no definitely not leaving there I don't think she ever had one yeah she just felt good the whole day and first hundred and ER doctor and it's like how do people how are people so good at multiple
Starting point is 00:23:43 days it's like amazing but um yeah I mean and I mean to David you're talking about David too David has been a lawyer yeah and his wife's a doctor it's like can Why are these just graded everything? It's like, could I be good at just one thing? Is that too much? God. But yeah, so anyway, I saw David. I saw the, I didn't notice Ann, but I noticed at another, there's another, like, well-known woman that was coming out.
Starting point is 00:24:16 She's kind of tall, but she did great. I can't remember her name right now. But, yeah, it was cool on the turnaround, being able to see everybody. I was running with this girl from New Zealand who's just a freaking stud. So damn tough and so cool. We were running and we saw Truitt coming back. She'd been running with him earlier. And everybody that we passed was like,
Starting point is 00:24:39 sun looks good. You're going to catch him? I'm going to catch him. And I'm like, I'm needing him to hit the wall and blow up or do something. But everybody knew that we were both out there and kind of close. And so I was getting updates from everybody passing. And then we finally got to him.
Starting point is 00:24:54 And he was about, I don't know, probably, hmm, I think like three miles up at that time. Because it was probably a mile and a half from the turnaround. So then we're going to go there and then back's about three. But yeah, I was hoping he was going to, not hoping, but I thought he could blow up towards the end. Yeah. Because he hasn't been in the mountains as long as I have. He's been specifically training for marathons on the road. and you know he has gotten in the mountains lately but i thought there's a chance he could blow up i could
Starting point is 00:25:29 reel him in and really push him on that last bit but i don't know if i ever pushed him maybe the maybe the thought of me back there pushed him but i didn't i didn't personally push him but anyway i was about three miles behind right then yeah how was uh because truitt said that going from like windfield back to hope pass or hope pass to windfield whatever but that side was steep as yeah it was a little shorter and steeper so yeah we had like seven miles from twin lakes to the summit and then i think so five miles from the turnaround to the summit so two miles shorter same climb and yeah i was in that that that backside that hill got hot
Starting point is 00:26:13 when we're coming up out of there yeah because the sun kind of broke through it was getting pretty warm but uh yeah i was with some cool people there going hard or going as hard as you could and uh made it up over the top now i felt good my legs you know i started what was crazy i felt better there than i did at the beginning of the race for the first 30 miles i'm like there's no way it's not going to happen and then i was like uh huh maybe maybe it will and then i got up over hope and heading down to twin lakes so heading down to 68 and I'm like okay I'll finish this there's there's no doubt about this I was feeling a little better when I'm glassing ridges for elk or mule deer I can't afford to miss any movement that's why for the past two seasons I've been using six hour binoes and I absolutely love them
Starting point is 00:27:03 these optics change the game the binoes I've been using are the zulu image stabilizing that means no more shaky glass after a long hike no more struggling to hold steady after you've humped it up a hill. With image stabilization, you lock in and pick apart the country in a way that just isn't possible with standard glass. I found more animals and saved more time because of these binoes plain and simple. And here's the kicker. Optics companies almost never offer discounts, but SIG is giving the listeners of this podcast 10% off. Just use code cam at checkout. So if you're serious about glassing and want the same edge I've had for the past two seasons, head to Sigsdhauer.com, grab a pair of Zulu Binos and use code Cam for 10% off.
Starting point is 00:27:48 Six-hour Zulu Binos. Seymour Hunt Harder. Mudwater is a Healthy Habits brand best known for its popular caffeine alternative. It's got four functional mushrooms and the purpose is to never leave you feeling jittery. Don't get me wrong. I love coffee and usually drink five to six cups a day. But mud water has helped me cut back a little bit, especially once afternoon hits. I still even throw a little mud water in with my coffee.
Starting point is 00:28:13 and they have a really good coffee creamer with MCT oil. Each ingredient was added for a purpose. Cacao and chai for a hint of caffeine and hot chocolate-like flavor. Lions main for Focus. And both Chaga and Rashi to support healthy immune system. Plus, it's Whole30 approved 100% USDA certified organic, non-GMO, gluten-free, vegan, and kosher. Mudwater donates monthly to support psychedelic research and has since day one. They believe the country is in a mental health epidemic,
Starting point is 00:28:46 and that psychedelic-assisted therapy is one of the most effective tools we have to treat mental health conditions. Mudwater is hooking up my show with a special offer. If you go to mudwater.com slash camhains, you get a free frother and $20 off. That's mudwater.com backslash camhains for a free frother and $20 off. When you're kind of in that mindset, when things aren't going that well and you're kind of thinking there's no way. Is it basically, is your mindset that you're going to run
Starting point is 00:29:17 or are you going to try until you can anymore? So really you don't have a choice. You just have to find out. But in your head you're thinking maybe it's not going to happen. I think my body's just going to not let me do it. I mean, it was kind of like when I did my hamstring at that 50K. Yeah, right. I probably could, I would have probably tore it loose.
Starting point is 00:29:37 Yeah. You know, could you have kept going, but I could feel and I had Coca-Dona coming, up. I could feel something serious. So it would take something like that. I don't really, I didn't really have another race coming up. So if I can move and I have the time, I'm going to finish. There's no doubt. It's going to be disappointing. I mean, it's going to really suck and be slow as hell. But unless my body says, or I die or something crazy, I'll finish. But yeah, yeah, you just go until you can't go. Yeah, for me.
Starting point is 00:30:13 It's not at all at the same level, but I know on a frozen trail, that's what pissed me off so bad is I was in a ton of pain, but I knew that I wouldn't let myself just quit, so I was pissed no matter what I had to be in pain. Yeah, I know. That's the thing. You can make it stop right now.
Starting point is 00:30:34 Yeah. Whenever you want to, you can make a stop. You just quit. but as they say the pain of that might be worse than the physical pain because the physical pain will be over whenever you're done right and it might be however many hours I was seven hours but the pain of quitting it's gonna be there a while yeah that's like that might never fade and so that's what I mean I just I just can't I can't deal with that shit yeah um another guy that I wanted to highlight was the guy who had done it is his 30th leadville
Starting point is 00:31:09 I know. That's amazing. It's insane. And he finished with seven minutes before the cut off. Yeah. Yeah. 30 buckles. That's that's that's crazy. Yeah, I know. There's some leadville such a historic race though. I think it's the second oldest hundred behind Western in the U.S. And I don't know why it doesn't get the love that some of the other big ultras get because I thought it was epic. I mean, it is so pretty up there. I thought, and it's hard. Yeah. I mean, it can be fast, I guess, for the right person, but it's freaking tough.
Starting point is 00:31:46 Yeah, I don't know. I just can't, I can't imagine even like, okay, you've done it four times and you're doing your fifth. You know what's coming? I'd be like, no, I'm not. I don't want to feel like that. I did this. Yeah. Yeah, it's a, here's, I did hear some stats.
Starting point is 00:32:00 So I think 700 and some runners and 300 and some finishers. So about it's a 50% finish rate. So 50% D&F. And supposedly this is an easy race. I mean, that's an easy hundred. I think the finish rate at Kocodona is like 70%. So over 250 miles. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:24 So for whatever reason, Leadville, I think they allow more runners in, obviously, 700. But it's hard. And what I heard was of the 300 and some finishers, 200 and some came in in the last two hours. So a lot of people finishing. Yeah. That just tells you that people dig deep to do whatever it takes to get it done. You know, if they're going to do it, it's going to hurt.
Starting point is 00:32:52 It's going to be hard. And it might take the full 30, but they're going to get that buckle. So they did whatever it took to get there. There's two big waves that come in. A wave before 25 hours for the big buckle and then a wave before 30 for a buckle. because if you finish after 30, it's a DNF. It's like you never even ran. And after you've, I saw somebody today, I sent it to Truitt,
Starting point is 00:33:15 they DNFed at 98 miles. Time ran out. 10 a.m. That hurts. Or was it 10? Yeah. 10 a.m. at 98 miles. So to suffer for 98 miles and 30 hours and to get a DNF,
Starting point is 00:33:33 and then I heard another, okay, here's another stat. The girl who. one Western this year. So the last hour of the race is called the golden hour, 29 to 30 hours. It's the last hour, golden hour, that's when you can get your buckle. You got one hour to do it in that last hour. She finished Leadville twice in the golden hour and won Western.
Starting point is 00:33:55 Damn. So it's either, that either tells you how tough Leadville is or how tough hundreds are, where you can have just a shitty day. Right. And it might, your performance might be terrible, like comparison wise. But then she's obviously good enough to win Western,
Starting point is 00:34:14 the most competitive ultra in the United States. So it's like crazy. Yeah. I think that's just pretty interesting how, I don't know, races are hard. Yeah. I mean, to do it twice, I think that definitely says how hard Leadville is.
Starting point is 00:34:30 I mean, being at that altitude definitely isn't easy. No. But, and then somebody else obviously had, to give a shout out to Andy Glaze. Oh, man. I like that guy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:41 We're going to get him on the pod. Yeah, just a stud. It looked like he suffered. Suffered, suffered. I liked his reel where he was like, you know, I'm shitting, I'm puking, and I'm trying to think of how I can finish this race and without getting any calories, no water. And the answer is, I can't. And then he holds up his buckle, and he's like, but I didn't quit.
Starting point is 00:35:03 He did another one, too. That was pretty funny. He's like, just finished Leadville, and I'm definitely never going back again. And then the same clip, it's 24 hours after Leadville, and I'm definitely going back and doing it. So, yeah, it's just that time heals all wounds or, yeah, I mean, once you get, you forget the pain. Yeah. I don't even remember. I don't remember how bad it hurt.
Starting point is 00:35:29 I remember now, like, how epic the scenery was, how incredible. environment was, the big aid stations, how fun that was, and just hanging out. I don't remember being miserable. Yeah, I mean, I would say for people that are, I think that struggle maybe with motivation, they should just go and watch one because watching people grind and dig deep is super motivating. You know, I mean, watching somebody come in and you have no idea how they're going to continue. They sit down, they eat some mashed potatoes, they have a little bit to drink and they get up and they keep going. Crustable.
Starting point is 00:36:05 Yeah. That's in my notes. Talk about uncrustables. Oh, uncrustables. Yeah. Maybe that's what you should have had as a crustable. I had the uncrustables. That's what did it.
Starting point is 00:36:16 Yeah. It was the wrong. Oh, God. Yeah. That's like diesel or unleaded. Exactly. You just can't mix them. And I took the crustable.
Starting point is 00:36:24 I needed the uncrustable. Yeah. No. So shout out to my crew. This is, now this is serious. Without these, these these well these girls including you guys um riana obviously the team captain jessica from montana knife
Starting point is 00:36:43 company jessica buyers the girl from salty britches who i don't even the the blonde who's like southern lady oh just a stud yeah um and andria and oh alicia uh like on my you know getting my legs working out my legs every basically every aid station just trying to keep me going and getting me whatever I needed food
Starting point is 00:37:07 doing whatever asking me about on crustables every fucking time even when all I could eat was mashed potatoes still asking if I wanted to whatchma call it
Starting point is 00:37:17 well yeah did you try and tell her that though that was mile dude that was mile like 88 what did I say when you were like you'd come and you're like all I can eat is mashed potatoes.
Starting point is 00:37:30 And she's like, what about an uncrustable? And you close your eyes and you go, you go, okay, let's just for a moment think about what I just said. Yeah. It's a, she's just trying to just get, make me happy, basically. So you just, you know, when somebody's like a little toddler thrown a fit, you just ask, you want Cheerios? You want applesauce. You want, you know, you just. Applesose.
Starting point is 00:37:59 Cheerios? You might say the same thing 10 times. So it's like, you're just, it's survival. I feel like I'm like this crinky toddler and they're just like trying to have me not like loot you know when the scream the cry scream where there's no sound coming out that's where I was close to that it's bad so I think we're just trying to avoid that that realm yeah it's the silent scream then they take a breath and you know the fuck yeah that's I was close to that so hey if a crustible uncrustable whatever to shove it in my pie hole and we don't hear
Starting point is 00:38:37 hear that scream we're good. Yeah. All I could eat, God, dang, it's hot. But I do have my new, I don't know if you notice this. Ooh. The new Keep Hammering. Nice. Keep crammering hoodie.
Starting point is 00:38:50 So, we're up in the brand right now, but I'm sweating my dick off. Cameranhanes.com. Or your dick off merch. What was I going to say? Yeah, so I don't know. I'm just trying to keep the wheels on. I guess is all they're trying to do. And you just, it's survival mode.
Starting point is 00:39:13 Yeah. You do whatever it takes. And basically what I, I'm not, I haven't, I'm not a big crew person. But I think it's like you do whatever it takes to get your runner out. Yep. And like get fueled up. Oh, it's going to be dark. You don't have a headlap.
Starting point is 00:39:28 That's fine. Just get going. Um, just stuff like that. Yeah. Um, speaking of which the, what was her name? The woman who beat you, who at Cocodona didn't. 14 women or I got F-14. Yeah, but she stopped you.
Starting point is 00:39:42 She stopped you for a picture at the end. Yeah, right at the end. She was blonde. She was like, I'm coming for you. Oh, God. Yeah, she did beat me. Yeah, she's like, I don't know. Is it Kyla?
Starting point is 00:39:56 Or it starts with a K. Kyla? Kyla? Yeah, Kyla. That's what it is. She works for, um, John G. John G. Yeah, she's a marketing girl.
Starting point is 00:40:06 But yeah, super cool. I didn't see her at Cocodona. She said I beat her like by two days. But I shared her reel where she's just walking and dragging her poles in the rain. And I had the garbage sack on or something like that. And then so I see her on the backside of Hope. And I'm like, I'm fine. I'm way ahead.
Starting point is 00:40:30 I'm like a couple miles ahead. I'm good. She's like, I'm coming for you. And I'm like, okay. All right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:36 And I think I said, I hope you do, but I didn't mean that. You just say shit like that. And sure is shit, here I am on this, the lake trail heading out. What was that lake called? Twin Lakes. No, no, no. Oh.
Starting point is 00:40:51 Not turquoise. Turquoise. Was it turquoise? Yeah. So we're on the trail along Turquoise Lake. And I hear, you know, you see headlamps come in. You're like, oh my God, this sucks. You don't want to get reeled in.
Starting point is 00:41:03 Yeah. But you know those headlamps. And there's like four headlamps. I'm like, who the, It's like this big group. Anyway, she's one of them. She's kind of zoned out. But her paces are keeping her like, you know, I heard this one grow,
Starting point is 00:41:15 oh, girl, you're killing it, 12 minute mile. And 12 minute miles at that time, might as well be like a 100-year dash, you know, or 100-meter dash. It's like, that's pretty fast. So they clip by. And I was like, was that her? I think that, no. That could have been her.
Starting point is 00:41:33 Anyway, it was her. So she beat me. And, yeah, saw her at the end. But I like that, uh, the story of her crew at Cocodona when she was like, I'm going to quit. Oh. Oh. Like we're not giving you a ride. No.
Starting point is 00:41:44 So the story was, yeah, they said, no, we're not giving you a ride. And so she said she was going to Uber. So she tried to get an Uber to quit the race. And it was like two in the morning, no Uber would come. And, uh, so she had to finish. But she got her finish. Yeah. And then, but she's good because she ran 24 something at, at, uh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:07 at Leadville. Yeah. Well, was she just shy at 24? Like 23. No, no, I ran 24-04. She was in the 23s. Yeah. No, yeah, I don't, I don't screw that up.
Starting point is 00:42:19 That's a big deal. Because I was, my whole thing was I wanted to be in the 23s. And so I was like pouting at the end. But I'm like, you're kind of psycho. I'm, well, well, well, well rested, everything perfect, belly full of food fully hydrated i am crazy so take all that away it doesn't help my psych on this so i i come to the finish and i'm pissed because i've been like looking at my watch this is my fault who am i who am i going to blame i'm blaming somebody because i didn't finish when i wanted to
Starting point is 00:42:55 but i'm like yeah i'll blame you so i'm like okay i'm good i'm going to get in the 23s it's all good so i get to a hundred miles at the corner of the corner of the corner of the corner of and I got to run up this hill to the finish. I'm like, my watch said 100, and it says 23 something, and this isn't the finish line. So the finish was like 100.8. By the time I got up there, it was four more minutes.
Starting point is 00:43:19 So I'm like 2404. And I'm like, I should have been done back there. It's a 100 mile race. I was at 100 in the 23s. So I was like coming up when I saw you, I should have been interacting with the camera. And you probably see on the, we'll never get this video done.
Starting point is 00:43:34 So don't, don't look. for it. Don't worry about it. But if you did see this footage somehow, you'd see me being a big bitch. And I'm pissed because I'm like, now I'm in the 24s. And it's like, does it matter? I got the same buckle. Yeah. Who does it matter to? Me? Anyway. Yeah, you came in and you're at first year, I don't think you even wanted a picture at the time. God. I was just, because I had in my head, I'm like, no, I'm 20 under 24 guaranteed. I'm going to make this happen. And it hurts. And it hurt. Yeah. Well, you came in at, so you had 11, just over 11 miles left, and you had three hours to do it. I needed three hours and five minutes. Yeah. It's, I don't know. There's,
Starting point is 00:44:22 you know, then I'm looking back. I'm like, because I, I had, I didn't have any Pacers. Tanner went with me for that one section, but I could have had Pacers from Twin Lakes for 38 miles and they can mule so they could have taken all my shit so if you look at me come across the finish line i got like jackets packs fanny packs a jacket tied around my waist poles i'm like all this shit i could have somebody else could have been carrying but i had it all i'm like that was guaranteed five minutes just by me not having a pacer or the fact that you took your entire wardrobe up hope pass i did including your onesie snowsuit oh my god yeah i was i was thinking oh if this if this if these thunderstorms come in, these people are, I'm going to be good to go.
Starting point is 00:45:09 So I took gloves and beanie and jackets and didn't need anything. So yeah. You're not rough. I'm not good. Being smart. Well, I mean, it was a gamble because Trude didn't take anything either. And we were all like, uh-oh. The thunderstorms had been coming in there.
Starting point is 00:45:29 Yeah. And they ended up coming in a little bit later, but. They did. That's right. They did get people up there, didn't they? Oh, 100%. Yeah, there was a big thunderstorm that came right over. And it definitely slowed people down, that's for sure.
Starting point is 00:45:42 But I guess for next year. But yeah, so finished 2404. Truit finished at 22. Was it 34? 32. 22, 32. Yeah. So a slightly, because I know Truitt wanted to go, man, was he like sub-19?
Starting point is 00:46:02 Well, his official thing on his video said, Big buckle. So sub 25. But I think he told us he wanted like 19, 18, something like that would be good. And I mean, I did say I did have a pace chart for sub 20. So I wasn't, I didn't hit my marks either. But I think it's just, I mean, I think is, I know it's harder than I expected. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:29 And, you know, like I said, I didn't feel like I had a great day. And I think it was probably harder than Trude expected. Yeah. Because people talk about how it's, like I said, I even said, it's an easier 100. I don't know. Maybe. Yeah. I mean, Truitt, he looked good the whole time.
Starting point is 00:46:45 He was having some stomach issues, too. We'll get to that in a second. But I think it's just a testament to how hard it is. It's like, yeah, you can feel good and give it your all. I mean, you could still come in above what you thought you were going to get, you know? Yeah. Especially at that elevation. And how much gain did it have?
Starting point is 00:47:01 15th. 15,000. So I don't know, but I didn't want to talk about the stomach issues because I saw something yesterday, somebody who ran Leadville. It was that Pierce kid. Stowe. Yeah. And he was saying like coming outward bound from Twin Lakes, he was going down into Winfield was like, I'm not going to be able to finish because of the pain he was having in his stomach. He was sitting on the trail. Yeah. On the backside of Hope. I saw him. Oh, really? Yeah. But he had mentioned that he should have trained his stomach. Yeah. Is that a thing people often do just because all the gels you're ingesting? Yeah. Like that's what like David Roach is a big proponent of. He's like hammers those gels just because that's what you're doing in the race. And you have to get your stomach trained for that because otherwise that's what happens. That happened to True it. Yeah. That that reminds me of like when you're in the bad country and you have one of those freeze dried meals and you're like, this is the best thing I've ever had. And then you try and eat one when you're back home and you're like,
Starting point is 00:48:01 This is the worst. Yeah, you know. It's, yeah, your stomach, you know, we eat pretty much the same shit every day normally. And then when you do like a hunt or a race, it's not the same shit. Yeah. It's completely different in your bodies. I mean, it's, yeah, it's sensitive. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:20 To different things. Huh. I mean, was that something you would consider doing or? Oh, man. I need to. I mean, because all I could eat was mashed potatoes. Yeah, right. And those were good.
Starting point is 00:48:33 I mean, so, yeah, I hauled around a lot of food and never ate it. I had my fanny pack filled with Pop-Tarts and the uncrustables and the Martin gels. I did get those down quite a bit. That's about all eight. That was it. Brutal. Yeah, I was definitely undercalorieed. So I think, yeah, I think training your stomach for that is key.
Starting point is 00:49:00 if you're going to perform at your best. Yeah. The other thing is, have you ever had Tanner pace with you or run with you in a race? Yeah, so how was that? I don't think so. That was good.
Starting point is 00:49:11 Yeah, it was fun. Yeah, he came in after pacing Truitt because he paced Truit the leg before and he seemed pretty excited. He was like, yeah, I'm going to stick around and pace my dad for the next 12. Yeah. Yeah, he did good.
Starting point is 00:49:23 I started to feel a little better there. I think he said, I think it was last night or something, but he was a little worried because it was like starting to get fast. Because he had, I think, I don't know if I made up any ground on Truit or maybe he had more climbing. But he said Trilett was going a little slower. And then he said he got with me and he was just like, uh-oh. And it wasn't like I was going fast.
Starting point is 00:49:51 Right. But it was. We had a fucking ass kicking climb there at the, I can't remember power line. I don't know which one it was, but it was like straight up for a while. And yeah, so I was feeling a little better there. And he did fine. But it was, there's times where I was running pretty good. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:11 He mentioned to that or mentioned that to us too. He was like, you know, obviously, I went both of them up the hills. It felt like my dad was stronger by quite a bit. So, and I think you did make up time untrue, at least that last leg. But that's because he was. Yeah. To stop and shit like four times. I mean, you get basically in 100 miles,
Starting point is 00:50:32 you get a lifetime worth of experience. I mean, so many ups and downs, just condensed into one day. You're like, how long has this race been? Like a month? Nope, just 24 hours. That's all, just one day. It's a long 24 hours.
Starting point is 00:50:47 God, that's for sure. It is. But super proud of Truitt, he kicked ass. I mean, yes, we didn't get our times, but he raced a hundred-mile or his first one that he actually, you know, didn't just survive. He raced. And I was so so proud of, I was proud of everybody. It's like that teamwork and that like coming together and, you know, having my sons work together as a father.
Starting point is 00:51:16 As a father. I'm not father. I'm like that sounds all prim and proper. As a dad. Daddy. That's my dad. but as a dad to see your sons like work together and do something like that is I mean I loved it yeah I love seeing the picture like you got that one well my favorite picture is one of Tanner standing
Starting point is 00:51:38 standing there like this is a good picture of him but then did you get another one of them running yeah or was that was that from you or from that other guy uh of him and I don't know which one you're talking about but I had one of him and true it okay a couple of them okay well that the one I shared or was on something I didn't know if was that um Shapiro the it might have been him I can't I can't remember seeing um but anyway there's a couple good ones and I love seeing Tanner out there he is a fucking badass yeah holy shit I don't think I know nobody realizes what a beast he is because he's not out there like true it is but yeah it's funny I mean I haven't seen him in a while he's uh he's slimmed up he's lean yeah
Starting point is 00:52:19 yeah he's getting in shape he's definitely been putting in the work in the dark nobody sees it Well, he's been swimming and running and, yeah, doing all his shit. Yeah. Classic Tanner. Yeah. But anyways, like I said, as a dad, it's, it was pretty special. And I just loved seeing everybody just kick ass. It was, it was amazing. Speaking of being a dad, you and Truitt now have the unofficial father-son duo record. Oh, yeah. Yeah, we do. Yeah, it's, I did type into my coach. I asked my coach today, chat gvety i'm like hey is this and would would this qualify for guinness and whatever we're kind of
Starting point is 00:53:01 i don't know if we're irritated with ginnis but they basically just want to take people's money and yeah you can get be awarded the official Guinness world record but the what does that mean yeah what does it mean and they like for the pull-up thing it was like thousands of dollars to get that thing crazy approved and uh i mean I guess for history, I think it's part of history anyway, whether they say it is or not. Yeah, there has been no other documented faster 100-mile races with father and son. Who the fuck appointed them is the history team? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:53:42 I don't know. But yeah, we did some research. I know Leadville's never had a father-son. There hasn't hardly been any father-sons that's done hundreds. I wonder why. God. Our heart is, oh, God. You got to have two psychos in the family.
Starting point is 00:53:58 Yeah. And then, you know, I mean, it's not like it was, you know, roach fast, but not terrible running, you know, both got the big buckle. So it's a, that pretty cool. I mean, it's pretty cool just to even talk about. Yeah. Maybe I go get my dad. We're going to do it next year.
Starting point is 00:54:15 Has you been running? Well, you got your 50 this weekend. Or is that tomorrow? Sunday. Oh, Sunday. Yeah. So I got tomorrow to train. Hmm.
Starting point is 00:54:23 So don't forget to carb load. You got a carb load tomorrow. I know. Remember? Should be drinking water instead of lowering my testosterone. It can't get, like, how low can it get below zero? Yeah, I think negatives is just when your estrogen starts to take over. Which is why I got these big tits.
Starting point is 00:54:41 They call those bitch tits. So you'll just have a baby then. I'm pregnant. Congratulations to both you and Larry. How did you know it was his? Could you tell? He's got kids everywhere. All over the Denver metropolitan area.
Starting point is 00:55:00 All over Greece. I did have a couple shoutouts. One, we were on the bus from Twin Lakes back to outward bound on inbound. These guys got on and they were like, one of them was so excited. He saw you and didn't want to bother you. You knew that you were in the race, so he didn't want to talk to you. But they were just talking. And then one of his buddies was like,
Starting point is 00:55:23 well, he probably wouldn't want to talk to you anyways because you haven't killed a bull yet. And he was like, no, no, no. I'm not going to, I can't tell him that. We're like sitting there kind of hoping they didn't notice us. And the guy's like, does like a triple take. Oh, no. Yeah. So he's like, wait, are you guys with Cameron Haynes?
Starting point is 00:55:40 We're like, yeah, we were going to let that conversation slide, but whatever. So shout out to those guys. They ended up being super nice. We talked to him for a while. They gave us a couple hats. Is that the hat right there? Yeah. Pagre or El Pagre, I think it's name.
Starting point is 00:55:53 named after a mountain in Colorado, but they were super nice. Pagreys, I think. The Pagres? Is it San Pagres? I think they said L. Pagre is one. Maybe it is. There's a group of them, but either way. And then this is funny.
Starting point is 00:56:05 The other day, two days ago at the grocery store, I'm walking out, and this guy is like, immediately clocks me and is like, are you Gideon from? Keep Amory collective podcast? And I was like, uh, and he's like, sorry, you probably get that all the time. I was like, no, no, it's just weird. Then he, super nice guy too, but Romeo, yeah, kind of told me his life story. He's got to keep hammering shoes from Speedland and just got off Spencer's Butte, he's running to the grocery store, but that was super weird.
Starting point is 00:56:36 That's cool. Yeah. People listen, it's a lot of, a lot of people at the race, you know, a lot of high fives, a lot of, you can catch your son, you know, a lot of positive stuff. but I ran with this one kid from Austin. I remember Truett commented on his calves. Before the race or maybe that morning. I think it was, no, I think it was the day before,
Starting point is 00:57:03 but freaking jacked legs. And we were running together for a long time, and he said, you know, he read my book. And, you know, he'd just been through a lot. And he was, I think that was his first hundred. And we were together for probably, God, I don't know, hours. But yeah, a nice kid.
Starting point is 00:57:24 And then he sent me a message and a picture of me and him. He said, this is his new favorite photo. But he said in his message, he said, sorry I had stomach issues. Sorry I couldn't finish with you. I had stomach issues at 75. And I thought that meant that he dropped to 75. And I was like, that sucks.
Starting point is 00:57:41 But then I went to his page and no, he finished. He just meant that he couldn't finish with me. And I think he finished at like 27 or something like. that buddy got to finish and there's i think they filmed it's going to be a good cool story but yeah so many so many good people i mean all the way from the the racers to the crew members to the photographers there to uh you know the organizers uh race director everybody's just like i mean the best yeah yeah i think what i really liked about it that was a little bit different than coca donna was uh that they let the spectators close to like you would walk through and give people high fives and
Starting point is 00:58:17 And that, to me, made it feel like more of an official sport. Because there's this big crowd and you're interacting with them. And, you know, it's like UTMB, smaller scale. But I think super cool. People get really into it. Oh, you can't beat it. And I think the runners draw from that too. Yeah, it does.
Starting point is 00:58:33 It gives you strength. Yeah. I mean, how are you supposed to feel sorry for yourself when people are amped to see you? Yeah. You can't. It's true. When you get out of there, you can. We were talking as like, you know, I hate.
Starting point is 00:58:47 like being in the back of the pack, especially at these dumb 50Ks, but like coming in and people are cheering for you. I'm like, just shut up. Like I'm running this in seven hours. Stop cheering for me. It would be the aura you would have if you came in and everyone was dead silent. You're like, kind of sick. Yeah. Well, I told you about that clip or I didn't show you though, but it was from that race over in Europe. Yeah. Where the crowd is like on the hill like the Tour of France basically. And the runner comes up there and he goes like this. He goes like this. Everybody's like, And he goes, arms up. Goes like this and there's roar the crowd.
Starting point is 00:59:21 I mean, how amazing is that? That is just, you know, playing to the crowd or having a crowd. It makes it special for sure. Yeah, definitely adds a different element to it. And with 700 runners, every runner has a few people there. I mean, there's thousands of people at that race. It's crazy. And in the town.
Starting point is 00:59:42 And it's like, that is epic. Yeah. I mean, I know I can. imagine the uh it'd be interesting to see like the the amount of money that leadville the town makes just in that weekend i'm glad to see it yeah i love ludville i want to buy one of those little houses there those little abodes abodes dojo yeah i do i love it there if i could go there and actually be able to breathe when i run if i could stay there beforehand that'd be pretty handy yeah yeah no shit. Well, that's pretty much it for Ludville, unless you had anything else to add.
Starting point is 01:00:20 No, just the highlight basically was the next day going a bike ride with Courtney just fucking around. Running a stop sign is almost getting hit by a truck, stuff like that. All right, playing poker. Playing poker? Where? Oh, we played poker. Oh, shit, that's right. Yeah, that Airbnb had a whole game center in there. Entertainment. Containment Center. Three-point contest. Yeah. We had it.
Starting point is 01:00:45 So indoor basketball hoop with the glass backboard. A Nerf hoop. Yeah. Connor could almost dunk on it. It was six foot tall. Come on. You can do it. They used a little kitty trampoline.
Starting point is 01:01:01 Yeah. Yeah. So that shuffle, or no, what was that? Shuffleboard. Dr. Andrea spanked us on that. That sucked. I thought, I thought, okay, I'm going to. and win this thing. Well, I actually didn't win poker all night to the last hand, didn't I? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:20 Then, let's see, I lost on the three point. Who won that you? No, Connor did. That round, Connor did. Connor, God dang. Yeah, we had to let him win something. We had a good dinner in Breck. You got to say Breck. You can't say Breck and Ridge if you're... Breck or the Ridge. Yeah. Yeah, we had a big ass steak there. I don't know what you guys had, but right next to Breckenridge Lake, Not to be confused with Threat Mountain. Connor was, or Larry was a tour guide, so I had to be asking him, was that, was I think I ran that mountain.
Starting point is 01:01:53 No, I've never been within a hundred miles. Oh yeah, that's, that's the tall one. But one of these back of my day. Yeah. It was,
Starting point is 01:02:01 I don't know, that country is just incredible. And the winter probably sucks unless you ski, but right now it's amazing. Yeah, tough to beat. Well, Got some things coming up.
Starting point is 01:02:14 It's August 22nd. When do you leave? I don't know. But season opens next Saturday. Damn. Yeah. That's fucking quick. Eight days.
Starting point is 01:02:25 That's crazy. Yeah. So I got to get healed up. I'm waiting on my new bow, the AX90. So it's, I got to get that all set up this week. But yeah, I got elk season coming. And we'll be getting to Arizona, Colorado. Utah, Utah, and then here for the big hunt in Oregon.
Starting point is 01:02:49 Yeah. Try to get some bowls on the ground. Try. If I can get one, it's a success. That's, you know, anytime I can fill one tag and get a bull on the ground because it is so freaking hard, I feel very fortunate and grateful when that happens. If I can make it happen a few times, like I've been lucky enough to do over the years since, I guess.
Starting point is 01:03:16 2010 had a lot of success. So hopefully I've put in enough work and I get the breaks and we get lucky. Yeah, I did see, just been kind of checking in on the comments of Bush Dragons 3. And we definitely hit the wrong audience at some point. Yeah. Did we? Some hate comments in there. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:36 I mean, the feedback I've got has been good. I didn't go through the comments. I shared one today that I just for some I don't know some I saw it I think I looked at oh I wanted to see what we're at I hadn't looked for views it's doing pretty good though yeah I think 109000 yeah so I saw a recent comment from somebody like in some other country I can't remember where now but I didn't go through all of them how many comments like 100 in man I think it might be close to 200 or that's good yeah it has yeah 196 for comments.
Starting point is 01:04:13 But there is one. I'm going to read it because it's funny. Okay, good. Yeah, we love the hate comments. Keeps in them, you fucking cucks. That's camera 14, right? This is crazy.
Starting point is 01:04:26 Okay, get a load of this. The matter how hard you try to get deep with this experience, you, Cam, and I know you are struggling to do it because it can't be done. This is the documentation of a human that never grew up, and this is not a compliment.
Starting point is 01:04:40 You try to get spiritual, with a useless killing, it will never work. But keep lying to yourself and the ones who praise you here and everywhere, who also don't have deep experiences like you. Maybe write another Bible quote. Maybe one more will do the job. Who the fuck is that guy? Mukti now.
Starting point is 01:04:58 Oh. Asian. No. I mean, dang. He must be pretty squared away if he can criticize and judge, like, how I feel in my heart. he knows how I feel. He's a psychic. And he's using his powers for good on YouTube.
Starting point is 01:05:18 That's good. Well, that's a very good YouTube comment. I think that really hits home, doesn't it? Yeah, it's like my entire existence as a hunter and a human, he can just describe in a YouTube comment. People are fucking nuts. I don't know how angry you have to be to leave a comment like that. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 01:05:37 Go get outside. Getting some fresh air. What I love is, I mean, it kind of sounds like he watched the whole thing. I'm sure he did. Probably a couple times. I hate this so much. I'm going to watch it again. It's like, thanks.
Starting point is 01:05:53 And thanks for the comment. Yeah. People are nuts. I mean, I, I mean, we had this same issue in Elk season last year because of that photo I took of you with the bull in San Carlos. And people were like, oh, pose. No, I don't like that one. pose again, try this one again.
Starting point is 01:06:12 And it was the photo of you placing your hand on the dead bowl. And it was like, that was totally just in the moment. Yeah, I mean, I think, I don't know, maybe people are used to just, so much bullshit out there. Maybe they don't want to think anybody's authentic. It's whatever. I mean, but yeah, I mean, I'm never, I'm not one to play it up. I'm just like, I just say how I feel is what I try to say on camera. And, you know, there's been times when people say,
Starting point is 01:06:40 like criticize me for being too deep or like, well, that guy sort of is, but even like hunter saying, don't be ashamed of killing an animal or don't be, don't apologize for killing. It's just like, that's not, it's not even what it's about. What are you guys talking about? Yeah. You're missing the mark so much. But I think people, Trigg has been getting a lot of hate last couple days. He's, uh, just people just make shit up. in their head. There's one guy who said something like, True was walking by this guy who was wearing a purple tutu. So just, just envision that in the race. And the kid said something like, can I get a picture? I don't know who or what, but Trude didn't know if he was talking to him.
Starting point is 01:07:30 So he didn't want to be, people did ask Truit for a lot of photos, didn't want to be a dick. So he's like, were you asking me for a photo? And so the guy went on, made a comment to criticize Truit thinking, Oh, yeah, like anybody want to vote. It's just like, True was just trying to not be rude. Yeah. And I wanted to make sure that he wasn't talking to him. This guy turned it into this big thing about like, I'm like, you dumb fucks. And what's crazy is if Truitt didn't turn and ask, like, hey, do you want to that same guy would be, yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:57 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, Stan. Yeah. Dib shit.
Starting point is 01:08:03 Yeah. Stan. You can have your old lady in the back of the car and drive off a bridge next. Yeah. Just watched that video last night, didn't we? Stan? Was it? Great song.
Starting point is 01:08:17 How does it go? M&M. Oh, I did. Morning. Morning fogs up my window. And I can't see it all. Are you D-D-D-Dil-D-Doh? What the hell her name is?
Starting point is 01:08:31 I don't think he's Dildo, is it? M&M and Dildo. Yeah, another one that I had to block a couple people just because I just like blocking people. Yeah. It's just I don't, I like blocking people more than I like followers. But so my, this is my fucking house, right? Is this my house? I think so, yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:51 Is this my yard out here? Yeah. That is, so this is my house and my yard? I think so. Yeah, they're attached. And there's a concrete wall around. Okay. People are saying, oh, really safe.
Starting point is 01:09:03 You don't know who's walking around the corner of your whatever the fuck. Yeah, I do. Because this is my house in my yard and nobody's in my backyard. So they make it seem like I'm shooting. I'm like, I'm shooting around the corner of this house and my grandma could walk around the corner and take a broadhead to the side of the head. Cam? Yeah, I got some cookies. Oh, you just smoked me double lung.
Starting point is 01:09:24 Perfect shot. Perfect shot, but I'm dead. Yeah, it's like, you don't think I know who's in my yard? And you're like leaving comments critical. So I'm like, okay, guess what? You're not invited to this party anymore. We're having this party. We're still going to have it.
Starting point is 01:09:40 We're going to have a lot of fun, and you're not coming. Yeah, and they're going to get pissed that they're blocked. No, then they'll go to Facebook or Facebook or to eat my email. I can't believe you blocked me, whatever. And it's like, oh, well, I'll block you here too. How about that? Idiots. That's like there's this post where this girl, like, blocked her X on email, text, all the
Starting point is 01:10:00 social medias. And then he used direct TV to message your TV. Well, you know what they do? They have their old lady send me a message. You block my husband. and he's a big fan of you. It's like, yeah, your husband's a cuck. I hate to break it.
Starting point is 01:10:15 So when do you want me to show up? Yeah, he can watch. People are so interesting. It's funny. Yeah. That's what I say. People are funny. The hate comments are, they piss me off, but it's also like,
Starting point is 01:10:33 they're giving me a little too much credit because they think I'm out there asking you to redo things over and over again. Now, I'm just basically pointing the camera to let you say. what you want to say. I think there's so used of people being full of shit. Yeah. And so when somebody's not full of shit,
Starting point is 01:10:48 they just don't know how to interpret it. Yeah. Yeah. When was the last time you killed something and I said, how did that make you feel? Yeah. Never?
Starting point is 01:10:58 People are nuts. Yeah. But also, there's a lot of good people. Yeah. And also there's a shit talkers. It's with all love. It's with love.
Starting point is 01:11:05 Even the cuck stuff, that's with love. Just don't take it personal. I mean, that's with extra love. Yeah. That's for everyone. Well, that's all I had.
Starting point is 01:11:19 I think Larry had a fun fact. Did you? Yeah, do we want another animal fun fact? Sure. All right. Fallist fact of the week. Did you know some barnacles have penises up to eight times their body length? Because they can't move and they have to reach their neighbors.
Starting point is 01:11:38 What now? What was the last part? It's because they can't move and they have to be able to reach. their neighbors to borrow salt yeah yeah so imagine didn't you say you were had your your dick tucked in under your lap on the right what yeah it was under my knee under your knee yeah to keep it that's a good idea yeah i never thought about that's a good spot for it yes to tape it to the back of his leg really gives a whole new meaning to the uh superhero barnacle boy though barnacle boy yeah yeah packing some hot he's packing some
Starting point is 01:12:14 You got to get to all the neighbors. Stop right there. I'll hit you with my shaft. Yeah. Hit you? That's assault, brother. That's a salt with a penis. You can't do that.
Starting point is 01:12:34 You can't assault somebody with a penis? Mm-mm. It's ground upon in many countries. Yeah. Well, anything else? Karen. Karen? Larry.
Starting point is 01:12:51 Hey, are you ready to sing yet? No. Wow. Talent show. Talent show, talent show. Or is it a fashion show? Fashion show. Fashion show and lunch.
Starting point is 01:13:07 All right. Well, I think that's a shit talkers weekly update. That's the, what do we say? Not Leadville. Leadville. Theville. And, yeah, incredible experience. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:13:23 Cool people got to see Courtney and Kevin, got to see tons of just badasses running in the mountains. And super thankful. Thanks for everybody made that possible. And thanks to who else. Oh, the hotel I stayed at. What was that called? The Delaware. The Delaware.
Starting point is 01:13:45 Yeah. Yeah. The only bad thing about it is because it was so old, you had to listen to ghost dragging chains all night. Ghost dragon chains. What's that? Dragging chains. Oh, ghost dragging chains. Yeah, oh, up and down the hall.
Starting point is 01:13:59 Yeah. No, and going up the stairs to the third floor and gave me a side ache. I almost died. Yeah, I was like, that's probably the, is that the hardest thing you've ever done? There's 50 mile you do on, or not 55 miles, I think, Larry said.
Starting point is 01:14:13 Five from Taryn, 15 from Larry. You never gave your prediction. I think he'll do it. I think we'll get it done. I was hoping you're going to be like 18 so I could do, 19 and be like, I beat you guys as expectations. That's why I said that. If I believe in you, you're going to be out there until Tuesday.
Starting point is 01:14:34 Sleeping? I took yesterday off the rest of day. Yeah, where's my aid station? Oh, shit. The sleep station. No, that'll be fun. Hey, if you guys do it, I'm going to be impressed. 50 miles on your own is not easy.
Starting point is 01:14:48 Yeah, we'll see. Yeah. I mean, Eric, yeah, I mean, if he is tough, He is tough for sure. And you've done 250Ks. Did you beat Nate Elyensworth twice? Yeah, barely. Well, I beat him once.
Starting point is 01:15:05 You've beat him many times, but twice in races. Well, I don't know. We'll see. Stay tuned. I believe in you guys. I'll take videos, but I won't post them unless it happens. Yeah, well. I'll post a live update.
Starting point is 01:15:22 Okay. I'm not afraid. Like True, it says. I'm not afraid of failure. I'm excited to follow along. So yeah, I believe in you guys. It's going to be fun. 50 miles on your own.
Starting point is 01:15:30 It's legit. Thanks, everybody. Shit Talk Quicks Weekly is out. Keep hammering.
