Starting point is 00:00:35 music Alright, so where do we start? Well, I don't know if you've heard, Woolie. There used to be a little game back in the day, came out in the aughts, I believe, had an association with David Bowie called Omicron the Nomad Soul. And what a lot of people don't know is that this was a warning from the past to us today. You see, the plot of that game was about demons trying to enter your body and steal your soul. And they do that by some nefarious magic.
Starting point is 00:01:13 But you know what that was code for? The vaccine. Stay awake. Wake up, people. Sheeple. I was really hoping we would continue the combo of just not acknowledging every Omicron related tweet and message that we got since 100% of people saw the word Omicron and then thought of us and then told us that they were thinking of that and sent pictures and everything. So that was funny, but not why I'm bringing this up. The tipping point for me was going to the video and seeing it be a legitimate conspiracy war zone. In our stupid LP of this shitty David Cage game, people are screaming at each other
Starting point is 00:02:09 because we can't find a mark on a wall because the guide isn't clear and our draw distance is low and wanting to kill ourselves and people in the comment are like, man, they knew about the vaccine. It's crazy. It was part two. The simple acknowledgement of an Omicron reference in real life is not enough to have to bring this shit up, but you guys know it's a Greek letter, right? The funny and ridiculous aspect too here beyond the obvious is that they're in the comments of the Omicron videos screaming about all the conspiracies because we have to see everybody's fucking unhinged moments. That's what it is to be on the internet.
Starting point is 00:02:59 But none of these people would dare sit down and play this themselves ever. On any planet, on any timeline, would they ever even think to try playing it themselves? Because if you're so certain that this game has a secret message for you and this game predicted the future and this is where we should be looking to figure out what's happening. You should be playing it yourself and diving deep. Don't you think? Wouldn't the source material be, oh no, you just want to sit here and watch a YouTube video and then post your fucking disturbed ramblings because that's what's easy to do nowadays? Okay, you know?
Starting point is 00:03:38 It's like the hilarity of taking this shit so seriously and you're so dumb and you've got all kinds of other issues going on, and you're going to keep it in its distilled, easy format, which is on an LP where literally the sounds of us dying in a room are overlaid on top of it. Because, God forbid, you go to the source material yourself and actually investigate the dumb shit you're thinking of, which is a perfect, perfect analogy for the way those people actually process information and the world, like the idea of hearing something, seeing someone make a link. Ideology based off of what my friend told me.
Starting point is 00:04:24 My friend told me and then there's a video someone made about it and that's enough. And now, you know what, now that I've watched Best Friends Play Omicron, I can say that I have done my own research. Have you done yours? You know, I'm sitting here and I'm thinking, and I don't know if the point has been made, so I'll toss out a freebie to you guys because I'm thinking of like me, I think it was me and then you from some of it, but like trying to get around that factory bug where just walking in a certain location in the factory would just auto-crash the game and kill you.
Starting point is 00:05:02 Do you remember that? In the factory with the conveyor belts? There's a part where we thought the game might be legitimately uncompletable because every single time we got to a certain spot in a factory, we'd just instantly die. I remember now, yes. And we ended up having to like just leapfrog over it because it was a spot in the floor or something that was just a death flag. And that is analogous to people who work at the vaccine production plants trying to get out to spread the truth about the vaccine, but they can't.
Starting point is 00:05:34 They can't escape because the floor is lava. So what we need to do, Sheeple, is find a way to jump into other bodies so that we may cuck the vaccinated by sleeping with their wives. And that one, yes, that the truth. Took a weird turn there. Fauci wants to switch bodies with me so that he can cuck me. And I won't stand for it. I'm not going to let him, God damn it.
Starting point is 00:06:14 Oh, man. Oh, everything's great. Don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. The koopie sandwich is the sandwich of the purebloods. Well, you know, have you seen the actual part of the koopie sandwich that's like the cult thing? No. Do you know, do you know, do you know how we know that Omicron is about the vaccine and not something else?
Starting point is 00:06:40 How? Because the koopie sandwich is found as the only food item in your house in the Omicron, right? And it's a sandwich that's shaped like a little house and it's koopy because you're going to be cooped up in your house. Okay, okay, okay. Because that's how they control you. Gotcha. So they can take your body with the vaccine. Damn.
Starting point is 00:07:09 Who knew? I could do this. I could do this all day. Yeah. Dude, I used to be so, so, so into crazy conspiracy shit. And once you get out, you just realize, yo, I could just do this for hours about nothing. Like if you're on purpose, like it'd be super easy. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:32 No, that's it. So, you know, yeah, I guess that's where do we start then? The Nomad Soul is the scrolls we need to turn to to warn everybody about the freedom flu. Obviously. The freedom flu. That's good. That's just how it goes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:53 So no, what you were obviously referring to is like, oh, where do we start? So where do we start with Final Fantasy 14 and Walker is there are two components to me wanting to talk about and Walker today. Component number two is me talking about playing it. Component number one is talking about me trying to play it, which is to many people listening to this of much greater import. So before launch came out for end Walker, which came out at 4am Friday morning in Eastern Standard Time on the third, I want to say, they put out a statement like I think it was
Starting point is 00:08:39 the Wednesday, they just straight up, they put out a goddamn press release going, listen, it's going to be bad. We've tried as we've tried everything. We've optimized the servers. We've replaced them with the highest end servers. We can get it like within the facility, you know, kind of thing like just, you know, optimizing. We improve the everything we could, the tested it. We have all this shit working.
Starting point is 00:09:06 We have all this practice, blah, blah, blah. But here's the number one thing to make up for it. The number one thing that we wanted to do, which was buy more servers, just more so people could either transfer or log in on different servers or starting characters on new server, you know, whatever, can't because there's a global semiconductor shortage. And they even described that they attempted to do so for months and we're offering like above cost like incentives. If they could fill the order, there just isn't enough semiconductor related technology going
Starting point is 00:09:43 around. It's just not happening. I see you furring your brow will eat. So I'm just going to step back one bit for, are you familiar with just in time manufacturing? No. Just in time manufacturing is a manufacturing component that's extremely not component technique. It's very common in the electronics industry. It's called just in time because you don't want to be sitting in with warehouses full
Starting point is 00:10:08 of stock, waiting to sell it to people. So you gear up your operation and your factories to make exactly the right amount that you think you will need for the future. And then when Corona shuts down one link in that chain for two months, that number explodes, higher fucking thing just completely falls to pieces. And there's no way to catch up because you don't have storage. You don't have the production capability. So that's what's happened.
Starting point is 00:10:36 Corona has completely screwed up the global semiconductor market. And therefore file fancy 14 cannot get new service shortages are across the board in different like industries and much more important things than FF 14 servers. Certainly. In the, in one of the Reddit threads, I was reading the guy who's like working in a hospital and he's like, we have internet connectivity just going down in parts of the hospital because we can't replace the servers and not the servers, the routers just can't get a new router just straight up for the hospital.
Starting point is 00:11:06 It's like the computers that tell each other if people are alive in different rooms that seems like a detail that you would want, but regardless. So just in time, manufacturing screwed that up on top of that. Okay. Well, that's no big shadow bringers had a big launch. That wasn't a problem. Well, they released some like not super detailed population metrics, but some independent population metrics got came out before the launch on Friday.
Starting point is 00:11:37 Traffic was up 35% from six months ago across the board. Just 35% more people. That's in response to Asman gold starting the wow exodus. Basically we're going to call it then the Activision Blizzard nonstop fiasco. Is it running as well as the fact that I think was Mr. Fields. We're talking about riot versus Blizzard and how the news has been received. Riot gotten big trouble for their sexual harassment problem and got sued by their state four years ago.
Starting point is 00:12:19 Right. And there's been little to no headway on then and there haven't been any explosive news stories about riot in that time. It's just, no, they're bad. They're still being sued. They're still working on it in air quotes, right? And they're also releasing good stuff. On the other hand, Blizzard just every fucking two, three weeks, there's like another, another
Starting point is 00:12:38 little slap in the face, another little, oh, here's, here's more, here's, here's another one. Here's a bonus literally this week. I don't know if you even have it in your goddamn notes because it's too minor. They started a ladder season in World of Warcraft classic where you're like, you start a new season, everybody starts a new character and you try and get through it as fast as possible. And they have bonuses and gimmicks, except they let people import their old characters. And now people who have old maxed out characters from the old servers are just completely running
Starting point is 00:13:06 around worlds in PVP, just killing all the new, the genuinely new players, like a complete nonsensical design oversight. So you get that was about the docket. Yeah. Yeah. But you get a server problems, then you get, wow, Exodus, then you get hollow live started to get into it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:13:24 I don't know if you're aware of that. All live started. So just all these converging fan bases as well as the fact that the end walker coverage has been very positive. And so you end up in the situation that has happened over the past couple of days, which is a unique situation. We have seen every type of live service MMO game go down, break, freak out, everything. FF 14 is not having that problem.
Starting point is 00:13:50 It is having a different and much more frustrating problem. If you log in at nine a.m. to 11 a.m. in the morning, you will log in like that. No problem. It will take you 30 seconds to five minutes. Okay. Every five minutes after 11 in the morning that you go to log in will add one half hour to your queue. Every 30 seconds.
Starting point is 00:14:19 Something like that. So if you try and log in at two p.m. on a Saturday, you're looking at a five hour queue. If you're logging in at five p.m. on a Saturday, you're looking at a queue that is functionally infinite. And you're dealing with queues that are so long that the number isn't going down because you're advancing in queue. The number is going down because people are giving up and leaving you okay. And then once it hits about 130 in the morning, everybody has to go to bed to go to work.
Starting point is 00:14:52 Queue evaporates and you can log in like normal. Jesus. The issue is, is they are having catastrophic login problems, right? 17,000 people per server simultaneous login. That's the total maximum. If you even try, it crashes you out of the game. It crashes the game, right? On top of that, the login process is sensitive to packet loss.
Starting point is 00:15:21 And so say, I got in at 3,900 and I've been waiting two hours to get in and I hit 680. I'm like, I'll be in in 10 minutes, right? Well if there's just enough little packet wiggle, it'll disconnect me and crash me out of the game. I have about two minutes to reach that login screen before it loses my spot, which to some people with some systems is not possible, which means if that, if you start, if you try and log in at two in the afternoon, it could take up to five o'clock till you get in.
Starting point is 00:15:59 But then if you crash out at 430, you will not play today. Oh man. Like period. Jesus Christ. And on top of that, and this is the part that makes my heart hurt for these people, once you're in the game, the servers are completely fine. I have not had one lag spike. I have not had one technical issue that wasn't related to the games of windowed mode.
Starting point is 00:16:28 It has been a totally immaculate experience, except for the fact. And for those of you watching the video are noticing that I'm sitting next to a PlayStation five controller, which I'm now wiggling. You have a 20 minute AFK timer, which you will have to babysit the entire day. If you want to play at all, I'm streaming FF 14. After we're done the podcast, I'm actually going to ask the podcast to raid me and get that done. I have to wiggle this controller every five minutes for the entirety of the podcast.
Starting point is 00:17:05 I can't do that stream. Oh my God. Oh my God. Okay. So I guess playing the new shit with your group and your friends is basically impossible because you can't sync up except your friends are crazy. And this is where the problem lies. So there's three parts to this getting in your options are wake up early.
Starting point is 00:17:32 That's the only option aside from wait three hours or four hours or five hours, right? Number two is staying in. They recently upgraded all their AFK timers. There's only one way to currently beat the AFK timer and it's against TOS, which is to use a macro to like jump or run around randomly every five minutes. Don't do that. You could, if they catch you, you will totally ban your account. Don't, don't risk that.
Starting point is 00:18:01 But that's the only way. All the old tricks that people used to use to beat the AFK timer are gone. You can't get stuck in a shopkeeper used to be able to talk to NPCs and get stuck in a dialogue box. That stopped the timer. And that would count. That would count your, your character is active. Okay.
Starting point is 00:18:19 Doesn't work anymore. You used to be able to do that by opening your HUD layout menu to change where your HUD is. That would count as an active prompt doesn't work anymore. Never banding your controller so that you run in circles, gold does not, does not work anymore. Old faithful. Really?
Starting point is 00:18:38 Wow. It's count. It seems to be counting different inputs, right? So once you're in, which includes all of my gang, once as soon as you get in, you binge it like you've never binged it before. Because the only option you have other than binging it is wait until it's next week. Okay. So the time off from work that people have been taken is not just dedicating to going
Starting point is 00:19:12 through this whole thing and spending all the time with it. It's the buffer time for actually getting a crack at it together as well. So today, today is significantly better because it's Monday and people are back to their lives. Yes. Except tonight at around 6 30 Eastern will be the first weekday after the start of after the start of early access and the day before the real access is going to be the worst the game has probably ever seen in its life because it's going to be like unironically
Starting point is 00:19:51 maybe 15 million people coming home from work and just hitting it within 10 minutes of each other. I would not be surprised the whole game went down. I mean, if you like knowing that you were starting at a busy time started a login process process at like lunchtime and then kept it in the way kept it in the queue and then finished at 5 p.m. like would that not be a reason is that like totally if it didn't have a bad habit of crashing you out due to packet loss and then you have to so you have to babysit the login queue.
Starting point is 00:20:31 Okay. Okay. Right. You have to pay. So that's getting in that's staying in and then there's not wanting to leave because there are certain times of day in which you go, Oh, I really I have to take a shower. I need to eat and you go well. I guess that's it for me like whatever time of day you say that is the last time you will
Starting point is 00:20:55 play your game that day. So then so we had a really we had a fun situation here or Paige had to stream guardians down here in this room on the computer setup that fucking 14 was running on. So I took care of and distracted the dog. I'm like, Paige, can you please while you're streaming your your sponsored stream? Can you please reach over to the Xbox controller and wiggle it every 10 minutes? So then and sure enough, the game crashed. And this is where the real nightmare comes in.
Starting point is 00:21:32 People depending on their driver, depending on their video card driver can have DirectX 11 errors just like any other game except if this time it's it might as well delete the game off your computer for a day. So then there's probably a lot of people who are like you sitting at their desk working from home and have it going on the side so that the moment they punch out like you're you're in. Oh, absolutely. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:02 Okay. And that's a different problem, right? It's one of those things that MMO players are great for the problems with game theory because MMO game theory is like, well, reasonable actors would do this to maximize their enjoyment yada, yada, yada, right? Except MMO players are a really great example that they are not reasonable actors, right? If you were playing if you wanted to do something and the thing said it will take you four hours in line and we may kick you out at random, the average person would go fuck that.
Starting point is 00:22:32 I'm going to go watch TV, right? And deal with this one. It's not a problem. And some people do that, but enough people go, no, let me in right now that it chokes it at every step of the process. Half the people I know who have to do anything of note are at work right now, forcing their login to stay so they can play later, which is taking up spot. I'm taking up a spot on my server for the next four hours before I actually do my stream.
Starting point is 00:23:04 Because if I want to do the stream, I have to keep my spot. I'm willing to go stand in a line once every five years or so and wait a long time to get something I really want, usually some form of gadget or console or some such. So there is a reasonableness that I feel like I have towards that patience providing the payoff is worth it. And here's the final piece of the puzzle that makes it extra, because if it was just a fun thing to do, that would be one thing, right? It's also, hey, Willie, do you remember the MCU?
Starting point is 00:23:42 Yep. Do you remember how exciting it was to watch those movies and have it build these little threads that would go somewhere and then, oh man, Endgame's coming out, cool. Now imagine the line you're describing waiting in is a line you would have to wait in every day for 10 days. And you're sitting here on day four, having gotten there so early to jump the line, I'm talking about my own experience, and you're looking at your friends list and seeing the freaks that you know and hang out with in Discord are cruising level 90 already because
Starting point is 00:24:22 they're just not going to bed and knowing that they're cool, right? But there's a percentage of people out there that have seen the credits as of like yesterday. That was my question. That I am now racing against their own idiocy before they spoil me. Usually when I do the podcast, I have the chat up there. I don't today. I have my stream set to one month follower mode, and still two people got banned over the weekend.
Starting point is 00:25:01 Wow. Wow. Okay. Jesus. Um, though I will say my favorite legitimately my favorite comment I have ever seen in my Twitch chat happened over the weekend, which was one, I'm doing the level 83 trial, which is a storyline boss, huge, big, important thing. And I look down and see a name I haven't seen in a while and goes, wow, you can play this
Starting point is 00:25:31 game on controller, cool. And the general response of like, what are you doing here? You need to go, you need to go. That's pretty, that's pretty far. That's pretty far in what, um, so, uh, does it like, what is the fastest you can consume all of this new content from one login session, you know, like just don't log out. But you said like four days, how, how, how much, uh, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's approximately a regular length, final fantasy game.
Starting point is 00:26:14 So 40 to 70, depending and people have crushed it already. Now granted, there are people out there that skip all the cutscenes, which is obviously going to make it a lot faster, but, uh, like, uh, you know mom, right? Uh, mom's, uh, girlfriend just posted on Twitter like an hour ago, like, can't believe how great it is. Wow. It was incredible. I'm looking at the end credits and, uh, uh, one of the artists that I follow messaged
Starting point is 00:26:43 me, no spoilers, but I just hit credits, dude. It's incredible. Thanks for getting me into the game. And I'm like, you just hit, that was a message from last night. Okay. What are you doing? Okay. How did you, what are you doing?
Starting point is 00:26:56 Holy shit. So it's all these factors and I'm lucky. Every time I've gotten in, it's been a totally smooth experience. I happen to wake up at hours because of the dog that I can log in, no problem. And I just play all day on stream and then a little bit afterwards. And it breaks my heart because I, in my chat, I'm looking at people going, I've been sitting here. I'm like at hour seven of my stream and people are going, I have been in queue this entire
Starting point is 00:27:26 stream and like, I'm having a great time and the experience is totally smooth, but there's, so this is what I mean. Like it's a unique situation because whenever a live service game or an MMO drops and there's like a disaster, it's always like everything is on fire, right? This is specifically literally the bouncer at the door to the cool club is just too strict. I mean, I'm, I'm, I'm recalling the sound of pressing a button to then try to log in to the closed beta and then getting an error message going, and then well, at least for the closed beta for SF five, nobody got in.
Starting point is 00:28:08 That thing was completely broke. Dash load, you know, and like DBZ same thing, you know, here you go, getting kicked back to that title screen guilty gear for a minute, just a bunch of these games where you're just the sound of hammering to get in at some point. Um, yeah, that's, that's, that's not fun. It's why I wanted to bring it up first because I'm going to be talking about how I think how great it is and how, and how I've had no problems at all, right? But this is very much a, it works on my machine kind of situation, dude, the situation with
Starting point is 00:28:50 the server thing is so dire that Yoshi P put out a fucking statement. This is please connect to your PC with an ethernet cable because maybe that'll help with packet loss and not get you dropped out of the server. So hold on, you could play this game on console too, right? Yes, you can. You can play it on the PlayStation four and PS five. Same story. Same story.
Starting point is 00:29:11 It's all the same. Yeah. All the same servers. In fact, the reason why, um, the reason why it hasn't hit Xbox in ever is because, uh, I believe the old thing is that Xbox wanted their own servers and they didn't want to do cross play like back on the 360. Oh, okay. And they were like, no, it's one game.
Starting point is 00:29:34 We're not splitting shit. You know, huh? So they, so it's probably going to come to the Xbox, uh, in like a year or so. They could, they just couldn't negotiate cross play with them. Yeah. Interesting. Usually they're the ones that are encouraging of it and Sony are the ones that aren't usually in the current time.
Starting point is 00:29:53 The game's like nine years old, right? We're talking back when it first launched on the PlayStation three. Um, and then just never worked out. And then they cut the PS three support. So why would you have the Xbox, et cetera? Uh, I assume by the end, by the next expansion or with the next expansion, it'll also come to the series X because it's MMO like splitting it between different platforms is stupid. It makes no fucking sense.
Starting point is 00:30:18 And then, but this, uh, but now, but because the basis of this problem is a world situation that is completely outside of their hands, like, it is not the only thing they could control is getting more servers. And it turns out that was actually not under their control either. Yeah. It's a bummer because you play through the first two zones and the first, the, the, the first two zones, you get a pick of which zone you want to go to first. And then it just kind of keeps you in them for a while before they queue you into anything.
Starting point is 00:30:51 And that is to split the player base to different areas so that you don't run into the situation that I described to you four years ago called Rob on's wall, where every player in the game hit a single instance server and locked up for an entire weekend. Jesus. Okay. That was way worse than this. Getting in was, was not the problem. You literally could not get more than half an hour into the game because every single
Starting point is 00:31:15 player in the, in the universe was hitting a single instance server to do a five minute battle with like named NPCs. It was, it was a design issue. This is not a design issue. Yeah. They've designed it really well. You look at it and you're like, Oh, I can see how this splits here and how this and how that first dungeon is like 10 hours in.
Starting point is 00:31:38 So to just really stretch it out and the story is designed in a way that it keeps you interested, but it doesn't move your rent. Like, wow, good job. Doesn't matter. Cause I can't log in. Yeah. And I'm, and I'm sure it's, you know, like, like the one time, like not the one time, but like one of, this is one of the few times where again, like there's nothing they can
Starting point is 00:31:56 do about the situation. It won't stop the, I'm sure they're getting tons of fucking hate messages about it and angry people are, people are understandably upset, but like this is not a fix that gets implemented like, Oh, in a couple of weeks or whatever. It's like, there's, there's no fix. Yeah. It's well, it's a fix is when the stop trial, like it stopped trying to log in is the fix or when the world lets gets better for getting the, for them to be able to get the service.
Starting point is 00:32:25 Well, in, in, in course of this, the, the, the surge will be completely over by this weekend because enough people will be through and go back to their, what I would call daily sessions of an hour here, an hour, right? Instead of the, cause it's a self-fulfilling problem, right? If you could log in, no problem. People wouldn't be binging it in 12 hour stretches and, and, and keeping their characters in a perpetually logged in state, right? It's, it's, it's like a, it's like a, a, a crowd trying to escape a fire.
Starting point is 00:33:01 If you all just calmly walk out, no problem, everybody gets through in two seconds, but the instant you all scream and run for the door, you jam up and then nobody gets through. Stop trying to log in unless you really, really, really want to play. That's what it is. Me, it was, there was a point where me and all of my friends were logged in simultaneously and we're sitting here and we're like, we're theory crafting solutions and being like toxic and we're like, you know what they should have done. If you had a 1.0 subscription.
Starting point is 00:33:38 Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Literally that is the, on the Titanic as it's going down group of people trying to figure out how can we build a hierarchy to fucking get to one up everybody around us? How can I step on these women and children? And I don't even have a 1.0 subscription, but I suggested it because people that played that piece of shit should probably get to the top of the queue and they were like, well,
Starting point is 00:34:08 people that don't own and Walker shouldn't be allowed to play. And that's true. Free trial players will not be able to play FF 14 for weeks because they actually do get a lower login priority than paid customers. No. Yeah. So they're, they're not getting, if you were playing the free trial, enjoy your vacation from the game because you're not getting in.
Starting point is 00:34:33 Everybody becomes Billy Zane in Titanic. Like after their first login queue gets kicked out. Yeah. Okay. So that's, that's that experience. How is the content? The content's absolutely immaculate. It is, it's stellar in like, like Shadowbringers was like, you heard people gush about it.
Starting point is 00:34:59 Like I'm not going to talk about specifics, but you heard people go, oh my God, it's incredible. Like the full step up from that, that like I would have, I rated, I went through a patch tier list and I rated like Shadowbringers and S and I was like, I guess I just have to put this one at the top of the S chart so far because it's fantastic. The new zones are gorgeous. They're interesting to go around. The story content is incredible.
Starting point is 00:35:25 And to that, I will not talk about the story at all. Rather than to say they used a great technique in hiding the story content of what is, what is actually going on in N walker. It's a fucking great technique that I love. It's called putting out a trailer that is a lie. Just straight up fabricated events that don't have good, good. There are parts of the CG trailer that loads with the game that not only don't happen, but can't happen.
Starting point is 00:36:00 Okay. Like that's the level of lie we're talking about. We've rendered impossible scenarios. It's very similar to, you remember the, the Avengers trailer where it shows Hulk at all. Sure. Sure. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:17 And it's like that was a straight up just digital manipulation. Yeah. It's like that. Okay. Good. It's like this didn't happen in this location. This isn't going to happen here, et cetera. Events are jumbled.
Starting point is 00:36:25 It's a trailer I've seen from a game company in a long time because the goal of the trailer should just get you hype at it. You know, like that's it. Like, yeah, but like it's wild because the, the, when you leave the, the game on the main menu, it loops the, the CG trailer that's the intro to the game and like you're watching it. I'm like, that didn't happen. Like I'm playing it right now.
Starting point is 00:36:47 That's that didn't happen. This is why, um, dungeons are so far the dungeons are all great. They're all very interesting. The class changes barring my personal favorite dark night, which I switched out of seem to be really happy. Summoners have finally like, how do I put this? Yeah. You have the background knowledge for this.
Starting point is 00:37:10 Well, you're familiar with, uh, uh, an MMO pet class being the class that just has a pet out that fights for you, a hunter, a warlock, et cetera. Usually they have a lot of dots, right? Well, summoner is a very classic fall fancy job. And so it's in there. And for most of the game's life, it has been a pet slash dot class. You had a little carbuncle or maybe a little fake ifrit that was like, looked like it was made out of rocks, right?
Starting point is 00:37:37 And people didn't really like that because like in fall fancy, the summoner goes to, I'm summoning Titan. I'm summoning behind it. I'm summoning meteor, like just bam, bam, bam, bam, bam. It's like a big screen clear. And it just, it wasn't the class that people associated with itself. Uh, and then they added Bahamut and they added Phoenix. And those were kind of like the, what I would call like class identity, but it wasn't
Starting point is 00:38:03 what people wanted. They have thrown that class out. It's gone. It's completely gone. They have remade the whole thing from complete scratch, top to bottom. And now the new summoner is within a 72nd rotation. You're summoning out real ifrit, real Titan, real Garuda, real Bahamut, real Phoenix. And every time you summon them out, they come out and do their screen clear.
Starting point is 00:38:28 Oh, that's cool. And it affects your attacks. And it's like exactly what I wanted. And it's exactly what a lot of people wanted. And it makes me feel a little smug because my friend, uh, Vell that I play with constantly, he's the crazy one who does everything, the cool lightning kid. He's nuts. Uh, but like 18 months ago, we were sitting there complaining about summoner
Starting point is 00:38:48 going, they should do this, this should do this, this should do this, this should do this. And then they did this, this, this and this exactly like how we had imagined. I'm like, yeah, I'm, everyone is super smart. Well, we're definitely not the only ones to come up with that idea. Well, whenever you have to make changes to something to like weaken it for playability and or like, I guess, balance purposes, it's reality. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:10 In some cases that sucks. So even if you can like fake it, but still make it look and deliver the feeling of like what's cool, that's more important. The other thing is that it's a, it's an MMO consideration that doesn't apply to a lot of other games, but you know, uh, your, your skills are going to be just buttons on a bar, right? And you run into the issue if you have four or five, six expansions, everybody wants one or two new buttons every time.
Starting point is 00:39:38 Problem is you end up in a situation where you end up with so many buttons for your character, you can't even fit them all on a goddamn hot bar. Well, you said 12, no? 12? Oh no. So originally you could have 16 and you could hold the triggers to get another 16 on the back and for some classes, that's not enough. Jesus Christ.
Starting point is 00:40:02 So then they introduced both hold the triggers to get to the back row and double tap them to get to a third row of 16, but that's kind of awkward. That's a lot. At that point, that keyboard sounds necessary, except the only way to get to your 40 key binds is one, two, three to zero and then shift one, two, three to zero and then same. So it's just, it's the same level of frustration. Okay.
Starting point is 00:40:33 Um, and so one of the things they've done when they rework a class is they cut it down. They go, you don't need this one. This ability has now been rolled into this one. Okay. This, and in some cases, though, something that's very common with this expansion is they go, okay, this button, let's take Paladin. They have a big sword move called confidior and it leads into blade of valor
Starting point is 00:40:55 and it leads into blade of justice. And it's literally one, two, three every single time. You will never, ever, ever do anything other than one, two, three. So now that exists as one button. You hit it once, it turns into the second button. You hit it second time, it turns into the third button. All that does is just cut down on button bloat. So you tap and one, two or three to get layer one, two or three of that button.
Starting point is 00:41:22 Yeah. Okay. So you do, so, you know, like I would have, I have confidior on, uh, right trigger circle. So to do confidior blade of justice, et cetera, I would litter in the, to do right trigger, hold right trigger circle, circle, circle, circle. I would have instead of the old layer, switch layer to put it on square triangle, circle, boop, boop, boop. I would assume that, that, um, everyone likes it when you merge abilities together
Starting point is 00:41:51 and simplify this entire thing. As long as long as the things that they were able to do remain. Yeah. Like sometimes they get combined and they like, um, God, you know, that old joke about, uh, Star Wars should have gotten rid of Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan. They should have been combined to make one new character called Obi-Wan. Okay. Right.
Starting point is 00:42:17 You don't want that for your button where you're like, well, raw intuition and nascent flash have been combined into one skill called nascent flash and raw intuition no longer exists as an example. Right. Right. Right. No, you want to keep whatever unique buttons you actually had. Uh, but yeah, no, that's all been great.
Starting point is 00:42:37 The only people that I've seen are sad are people like me who used to play dark night, who didn't get any cool new toys and I don't play dark night anymore. I'm sad. Um, cause like, I feel just like, uh, on the level of like playing darkest dungeon where they give a whole bunch of new options for each class to pick from for each of those abilities, I like seeing those boxes increase for each class. Oh yeah. It's great.
Starting point is 00:43:01 Um, but right up until you hit 32. But the thing is, is that in darkest dungeon, you can't do them all at the same time, you have to pick the ones that you're carrying into battle. And yeah, um, I can't imagine you're going to need every single one of those specific functions, the only, you know, so they, they, they've, they've cut so many fucking skills over the years that don't exist. Right now there's only one. I like, I have a summoner loaded up on my screen right now.
Starting point is 00:43:31 There's a heel spell that I don't put on my bar. It's called physics. It's functionally worthless. It's the only useless skill I still have, but it's great, but it's great for one specific raid or some shit. It's great for when you're level like two to 10. Sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:47 Shit like that. And then it, then it loses its usefulness. Right. Um, monks used to have a situation back in, I want to say Stormblood where they had two skills that were similar and one was just better than the other. And they were like, just take that other one off your bar. Just don't even use it. Just, it sucks.
Starting point is 00:44:04 Why would you ever hit that? I think it was called six sided stray. I don't, somebody is correcting me. I'm sure, but cutting down on button boat, button bloat is great. And that's been good. The summoner stuff is great. I, so I, it will take a time, it will take time for everybody to get the classes they like to cap and then come start to complain.
Starting point is 00:44:24 But the classes that people were complaining about before the game came out or dark knight and scholar, scholars seem happy. Good for them. Dark nights are all miserable. More right. Mostly miserable. I'm sure there, I can think of at least two people. I know the plague dark night that will never not play it, but fuck.
Starting point is 00:44:42 They didn't get anything. They got moves taken away. Actually, it's kind of a bummer. I mean, are some, that's all that. What's that? No, I was just going to ask if, is some of the overlap like, um, say the difference between, uh, keeping zio dine or going with Mazianga where it's like medium, medium damage to a lot of things or big damage to one thing.
Starting point is 00:45:06 The analogy you're using is actually kind of dead on, okay. Because, uh, so I, I played dark night for six years. I love that class. And so they show off and pardon me if this, if part of this is going to sound condescending, but it is actually legitimately the best way to explain it. They show off, Hey, tanks, defensive abilities. Guess what? We're going to institute a fighting game like Perry system to your primary
Starting point is 00:45:35 defensive tool, which is going to be heart of Corundrum, uh, uh, blood wedding or holy shelter on, which is you put up a defensive barrier that's going to last eight to 10 seconds and it'll give you a 10% damage reduction. But if for the first four of those seconds, which in a game that has a two and a half second global cool down is like pretty strict timing, you will not only get double the damage reduction, but you'll also get like a heel or a shield or what have you. So it dramatically incentivizes if you're tanking, pay attention, don't
Starting point is 00:46:11 just pop your cool down 15 seconds before it hits you, pop it right before it hits you and you'll get a bigger benefit. It's a cool little mechanic that makes tanking more fun. Okay. It's, it's closest to analogy is a just offense, which is block as late as possible, right? Dark Knight's the only one didn't get one. Just didn't get one has not just off out of four tanks, three, get this new
Starting point is 00:46:40 mechanic. Dirt Man has got it. Okay. And on top of that, the one you went with Zeodine or Masio Dine where one's in it, they took two abilities that you used to use separately and turned one into the single target and one into the multi target version. So you'd never use them together. Okay.
Starting point is 00:46:59 So they, so if you're fighting a boss, you used to hit carbon spit and then a bissel drain. Now you'd be stupid to hit a bissel drain because they share the cool down. They're essentially one move. So you have to replace the button that you took it off. They gave you a similar ability with a new visual and I'm like, I didn't get anything. You just took it away and then gave me a slightly different one.
Starting point is 00:47:24 That's the same. Okay. That sucks. Anyway, that's my dark night. That's all you're going to get on dark night. I don't want to go too nuts. Um, the, the, the bunny book, the bunny boys are here. I saw people are turning into male Vera.
Starting point is 00:47:41 I saw some friends. I am now a male Vera. I have to say these, these, these bunny men look like sluts. Like there's no way around it seems to be the goal. They all just look like horse. They're very pretty. They have two like dedicated eye options for like how long and defined you want their eyelashes to be.
Starting point is 00:48:09 Okay. Like the, the male Vera have more eye eyeliner and eyelash options than the girls of every other playable race. Very nice. Excellent. That's good. And what's of great import to me because I hate clipping. They announced like, they had a certain like crouch, not a crotch, like a, like a,
Starting point is 00:48:37 not a hunch, like a slouch in the pre-release stuff. You might have noticed if you saw the video where they run, they're just like tilted a little bit. I didn't. They got rid of that. They now stand up a lot straighter because turns out when they did that, that original body position, tons of their own gear would clip into their own bodies. Like armor on their chest would clip into itself on the chest, which would
Starting point is 00:49:07 look like there's clipping obviously, like people, people don't care about flipping tails in this game. Yeah. I was going to say at a certain point, I was like, I don't know what to do with certain points with a certain amount of armor and like body size changes. You kind of have to just give up on caring about clipping. Yeah. I still care, but it's funny to hear that the devs looking at like generic clothing
Starting point is 00:49:30 or like, oh, this is way too bad. Like they can't do this. This clipping is outrageous. And I, you can imagine, like if it's, if it's a character's like front torso clipping into its own front torso, that like, that means every cut scene that has your character and it's going to look like complete garbage. So that's all great. The system changes they made are great.
Starting point is 00:49:54 I just found out right before the start of the podcast, I was able to confirm it again, that the game is going to hold a gun to my head and force me to participate in what's known as the hunt train, which is groups of people running around killing, you know, unique mobs for at least two months, because the special amount you get from it is a fucking bulldog. Oh, like straight up a bulldog. Okay. That you ride around on that has light brown coloring.
Starting point is 00:50:27 Yeah. And I'm like, are you serious? Are you, are you for real? The last time I didn't even, it was a triceratops. The time before that was a tiger. I don't give a shit. I'm not wasting my fucking time for that crap, but now it's a bulldog. It's got a big, ugly mouth.
Starting point is 00:50:44 I gotta have that. Um, so there's all that. And then there is all I want to say about the story, which is almost nothing other than the fact that it has become so like, and by story, I mean like scenario and also like encounter. It is become, it's hit the point where it is people are going, I can't believe I'm doing this in a MMO. I have engaged in like hour long gameplay sections.
Starting point is 00:51:17 No, not our, maybe half hour long gameplay sections that were from different genres. Completely. Uh, as in the gameplay becomes something else. Well, I will send it to you in your discord because you don't care about this. Like a Bayonetta genre switch. It uses the games, existing mechanics, but it puts them into a different context. Okay. Huh.
Starting point is 00:51:59 Interesting. You see what I mean? That's not the kind of thing you would normally expect to deal with in a massively multiplayer online RPG. Okay. Inside of your, your story segments, your existing framework. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:52:13 That's pretty cool. And it, and as for actual plot content, it has the best possible emotional state that I can think of for somebody who's always trying to guess what's going to happen or think they know what's going to happen. There's a difference between a big twist, which of course any good story is going to have some kind of, you know, unexpected turnabout or whatever. And of course this storyline has had a lot of great twists, but it has something more than that, which is the feeling of I, I don't know what we're doing anymore.
Starting point is 00:52:55 I like, I, what are, what, what is, what are we, what are we going to do next? Like actually, what are we going to do next with an M with shadow bringers? Let's take, for example, you land in a, the, you land there and you immediately go, the light demons everywhere. I got to kill all of them. Big bads there. Here's the proposed solution. Here's the journey.
Starting point is 00:53:18 And then each of those steps along that journey will have their own twists and such. Right. Here is you get to a point in which you're like, I don't know where this shit is going at all. Okay. I have no idea. Where this is going. And part of that is that they put out patch notes for these kinds of things and
Starting point is 00:53:45 you all, you always read through them and they always block out stuff due to spoilers, right? They always have six zones, right? One, two, three, four, five, six. And in a room reborn, everybody knew what they were in heavens, where did everybody know what they were except one that they hid like in the patch notes, they said hidden, right? A little blurred out, but you saw it in the trailers.
Starting point is 00:54:09 So you're like, okay. Right. And they showed it off in, in the, the, the live letters. So you're like, okay, yeah, I wonder where we're going to go next kind of thing. Stormblood, same thing. One, two, three, four, okay. We're going to hear, hear, hear, hear, hear. Shadowbringers, you get there and zone number six is hidden.
Starting point is 00:54:30 It's completely, it's never come up once in anything. And the, it's a zone number six. Wow. Didn't expect that. Right? You're looking at the patch notes for this and you see, okay, there's Garlem Ald, right? There's Thavenair, great.
Starting point is 00:54:48 There's, uh, Leverenthos, great. There's moon at number four and then hidden, hidden. Now, I don't know how much of the coverage of this you've watched, but it's been, it's been very moon centric. It's been very much moons haunted, get to the moon. And then you read your patch notes and go, except there's at least two zones worth of shit after that. Okay.
Starting point is 00:55:22 What the, where could it even be? Like, I have the fucking encyclopedia in front of me on this desk and I don't know what location it could be. You know, that, that kind of thing. It's kind of just, it's just kind of great. Well, I'm, I mean, that actually like, cause that, that reminds me of like a larger question I've been having about this and, uh, I asked it before and of course it was always too early to tell and then there, it wasn't certain, but
Starting point is 00:55:50 it's like, okay, so this represents the end of a long journey of content. And this is your, um, this is your end game, right? This is your closer to the buildup of all these previous, uh, expansion packs. This in no way signifies like the game itself coming to any kind of stop or close. No, so then a, a, a new arc must in theory begin upon completion of this event. So the way that it has always worked has been pretty straightforward. Uh, in 1.0, you establish, uh, enemy faction called the Aseans as your primary threat and that becomes the Asean storyline, right?
Starting point is 00:56:41 And that has been the storyline through the whole thing is dealing with the Aseans and the Aseans fucking stupid problems, right? Aseans. Yeah. However, that's your over, that's your overarching big one, right? But you have your miniature ones, right? So in heaven's word, it's you're going to Ishgard to deal with dragons and Stormblood, you're going to Asia to deal with rebellion, et cetera, right?
Starting point is 00:57:03 But that big one is over the top of it at all times. And the way that it works is you get expansion content, 0.0, full games worth content, blah, blah, blah. Then you get 0.1, 0.2, 0.3. And 0.3 is the end of that expansion's story. So the final boss of heaven's word is in the patch 3.3, not at the end of heaven's word, right? And then at 0.4 and 0.5, what they do is they set up the next expansion.
Starting point is 00:57:33 So in heaven's word, 3.4 and heaven's word, 3.5, they start rumbling. Maybe we're going to go to Asia and then Stormblood comes out and you go to Asia. Right. In Stormblood, 4.3, you deal with that. And then in 4.4 and 4.5, they go, maybe we're going to go to Shatterbringers. And then in 5.0, you go to Shatterbringers and so on and so forth, right? For this, which is six, this is all of it. By the end of this one, it will be definitively, completely done.
Starting point is 00:58:04 And for the next patch, which will be in about four and a half, five, six months, it will be the start of a completely new storyline to literally everything that has happened prior. That could go for a couple of years. Probably 10 more. They've said they've got an idea for at least a bunch of expansions from now. Right. So I just don't know.
Starting point is 00:58:29 I'm sorry. No, because I don't know how an MMO handles like a transition into like something new because this is where a sequel for any single player normal game would exist, right? Yes. A new disc or a new whatever, a new title screen of some sort, you know? Yeah. What do you, how does it?
Starting point is 00:58:53 I have my suspicions that the next expansion will have some kind of engine overhaul and move our characters so far away from our current locations that it will be start over. Okay. That, that is my assumption. Could it be like a second button to click on when you log in that says go here? That's, that's how fantasy star does it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:59:22 Like, like fantasy star online to new Genesis literally is a new game that you can import your old character into, but they're going to start the new game at level one in the new games level. But that's, that is pure speculation. I don't have anything to base that on because essentially like while it's simple enough to assume that like literally just log in and click, I want to play part two and then you start over in part two. But while playing while paying for the same sub is like, are people going to be
Starting point is 00:59:49 upset at the idea of having to a universally start over in a brand new location in a brand new way? I don't, I think people would be fine with that. Okay. Okay. So yeah, you just, you just have like the load up part two. All right. The game really, really badly needs a new client.
Starting point is 01:00:08 They're still working off the tech that 1.0 was built with. Like it is, it has problems. Like I, I could, I could see a 7.0 like version of this game being like, take on the new story in unreal engine. And now, uh, now we don't have to worry about the, the size of your glamour chest crashing the interface. Well, that's going to need more than the same couple of months for the next expansion that that requires an overhaul.
Starting point is 01:00:38 No, well, expansions are years out. Right. And it depends. And what it actually depends on is not time. What it depends on is how much money Square Enix is willing to give the 14 team to hire new technical staff to port over everything into a new fucking client. Right.
Starting point is 01:00:57 Okay. Who knows? Uh, yeah. Um, yo, how cool would it be if you could like, if you're playing a game like that and then like the sequel story set up is literally like a time jump and then it's like, make a new character. That's like the kid of your old one. I want to point out that you're like halfway there with the game.
Starting point is 01:01:15 We're already talking about because, because 1.0 to 2.0 is a time jump. Okay. All right. Of like a year or so. That'd be a fun way to, you know, uh, your kid. Yeah, that that that would, okay, let me tell you, if the storyline for this game in the next year starts to actually solidify some kind of romance system, you may be on to something.
Starting point is 01:01:45 Okay. That would be cool. That'd be cool. That would be cool. That'd be cool. I don't think it'd be the case. So yeah, um, and Walker's great. If you can play it, it's absolutely stellar, fantastic slam dunk.
Starting point is 01:02:03 You know, when you're excited for something in that pit, in your stomach starts to go, but what if they fuck it up though? What if they horribly botch it? What if it's, I haven't felt that in a while, but maybe. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, and then you start playing this for a couple of hours and you're like, Oh, no, they're not botching this one.
Starting point is 01:02:25 Uh, the last thing that I want to, uh, point out is that one of the things I said, uh, I took a little break last week before playing in Walker. And I said, Hey guys, do your job quests. Uh, I have, I had a suspicion that the people you hang out with on your job quests, we're going to show up more in the story. And sure enough, people from your job quests are just everywhere in cut scenes, whether talking to you or in the background, just like it has that end game kind of thing, but it's, it's a little calmer where normally, Hey, we're
Starting point is 01:02:59 going to have a big battle, right? Whatever in anything, nine tenths of the people that you see are going to be generic soldier man a through C, right? However, in this, if you were to have a large scale confrontation of some kind, not only would almost every single person in a 50 man brawl be a unique character that you've known for years, not only are they fighting in the background or with you and switching out, they are also like, there's two types of background fights, right?
Starting point is 01:03:32 There's the one where you see two characters in some kind of idle stance, like just smacking each other, which is a little more advanced than the, the guys fighting in the background on the Mortal Kombat bridge. And then there's like, there is an entire encounter going on that I am not part of that I can see the mechanics of happening like a hundred feet away. Interesting. I'm seeing, I'm seeing this person that I hung out with four years ago. And by person, I mean character having to deal with stack markers and
Starting point is 01:04:04 spread markers and Ockmore and bullshit of total no use to me. This whole thing is being elaborated in the distance just to make the thing feel more real, pay attention to it. You can see what they're doing. Yeah. Okay. And there are at least a couple of moments where they give you a room full of people that are all going to be helping out that you can talk to every
Starting point is 01:04:28 single goddamn one and they have finally done it. I'm standing in a room as a warrior. That's the class that I'm playing. Sorry, the job that I'm playing. I am head to toe in tanking gear. And the white mage trainer comes up to me and goes, fucking sick. It'll be awesome. Having a good white mage along with us too, because I also have white major cat.
Starting point is 01:04:49 Okay. Right. And just constantly, constantly, constantly. Hey, did you do the evil least quest line? Here's a detail that is being accommodated for because you did the evilest quest line. Are you a Dragoon? You will now get to hang out with the Dragoon member of your party and talk
Starting point is 01:05:10 about being Dragoons. Even if you're not playing as a Dragoon right now. Right. Right. Okay. So people like me who did everything to see everything. Yeah. It's just constant.
Starting point is 01:05:25 Yeah. Okay. It's, it's like every couple cut scenes down to the fact that when I was filing in papers on an immigration form, I was able to put artisan because I have my crafters maxed out. Cool. Something that has nothing to do with the battle side of the game. That's good payoff.
Starting point is 01:05:50 Yeah, I'm not going to have anything else to say after this other than next week. I'm going to go like, yep, still good. Great story. Best of all, fancy or some shit like that. Right. Or the servers burned down and we lost all our characters. So now this is the worst game of all time. Well, if you hit the credits, you're fine.
Starting point is 01:06:06 Just wait for the new. No, wait for the new. No, that could be a never that's, that's my speculation. Well, that's not a real thing. Just get that, that, that, uh, the image of the end of, of 1.0 where like that old guy is just roasting away into the, into the white. And now it just, but it's your, it's all your characters in your data roasting into the white and it's a start over the fuck it.
Starting point is 01:06:36 But you get to smile at the end. He kind of smiles right before it, it fades away. Yeah. Um, so here's a good example. I, I've had the ability to quote that dude at people. This week in game as part of the storyline, that's how far back this stupid shit goes a lot of play 1.0, a lot of build up. Oh, so yeah, uh, good game.
Starting point is 01:07:10 If you can play it, it's the video game equivalent of good work. If you can get it, honestly, uh, I also played a little bit. Halo, all I have to say about Halo is the difference between the Halo and Fallen Fancy communities are fascinating because, uh, both games, everyone is very mad right now because they can't play or they can't play the modes they want, whichever, uh, the Halo, uh, subreddit was so bad it had to be closed over the weekend. It was getting real toxic.
Starting point is 01:07:42 Uh, there's two different, there's two definitions of can't play now, aren't there? Right. So yeah. And, uh, it made me laugh because I'm like, you closed it. What do you think's going to happen on Monday when you open it back up and all the things these people are incensed about are still there and now they're just pissed off.
Starting point is 01:08:00 They couldn't post all weekend. Do you think they're going to calm down? No. So meanwhile at 14, it's like, listen guys, like the overwhelming like opinion is I'm so fucking frustrated, but I kind of realized there's literally nothing they could have done. That is insanely reasonable considering the way the internet behaves when things go badly.
Starting point is 01:08:28 The, the team that built 14 has gained a lot of, uh, a lot of like good will. Like, like when they, they, they spent, one of the things that happened in N walker is they did a stat crush, which MMOs always have to do because eventually the stats are percentile based and they go hot too high and then shit starts to break. So there's a stack crush, right? I loaded into the game and a move that used to hit for 90 K now hits for 12. And my initial reaction is, oh no, they made me weaker.
Starting point is 01:09:01 Right. They spent hours going over the, the internal meetings and design processes live on camera as to why this needed to happen. And as a result, after the very first day of people complaining, oh no, my, I don't do any damage. It's just all went away. Nobody cares anymore. Stats, whatever, stat squish.
Starting point is 01:09:22 Who cares? It's just that crush, just like a, um, a buff like a berth, like a buff nerf. It's, it's, it's literally just reorienting it, uh, uh, instead of doing a thousand damage, you do a hundred, but the enemy also has less, uh, less health, like 90% less health. It's literally just moving down the numbers because they were running content that had percentile based shit that the numbers were hitting, like
Starting point is 01:09:50 damage caps and like breaking things. And they're like, okay, no, you, this, we cannot do an expansion where the numbers go even higher. Okay. Yeah. Like everything's going to fucking fall apart. Darkest dungeon rules, man. Keep those numbers low as fuck.
Starting point is 01:10:07 Oh dude, I can really appreciate it. God damn it. I bled for two. Fuck. Oh shit. Oh no. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 01:10:19 Oh, good game. I like it. God stay logged in. Did you, did you wiggle? I was going to say, did you? Yeah. I'm, yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 01:10:26 Oh, see this? I'm wiggle them in my mouth. Okay. And I, I gotta move my guy. The light is changing in, in the room. So the week, yeah, no, you can tell, right? Like it's very obvious. Okay.
Starting point is 01:10:37 Um, did you have any time for JoJo? Did you make a room in your heart for Christ? So I had a little bit of room for Christ. Me and Paige have been watching, uh, some JoJo and I had not read Stone Ocean. And, uh, aside from, wow, Stone Ocean is really fun. My big takeaway from Stone Ocean is that, um, it doesn't care to start. It just wants to be in it right now. Okay.
Starting point is 01:11:11 So there's, there's a couple of things to note about this. Cause, uh, I've, I've watched the, you know, all the parts on Netflix so far. So the, the first, uh, the first part, the first act or whatever. Um, and well, so one thing right away about the, about the, the, the, the anime, which is interesting is I have never seen a show annihilate the bit rate of Netflix as hard as the intro to Stone Ocean does. Doesn't like it dies for the first 15 seconds. Every single time you click play, the colors flashing, the, the, the smooth,
Starting point is 01:11:51 like everything moving particle effects, it cannot textures, cannot handle it. Doesn't like it. Cannot handle it. Um, and like, no matter how many times I try to like preload it or, you know, get it jumped back to get it better. It's like, it won't, it won't do it. It just won't. So, um, that's, that's a, uh, you know, David production pushing Netflix to its limits.
Starting point is 01:12:15 Um, when it comes to what you noticed, uh, about the pace and this is, I had to double check this because watching it, I was like, holy fuck, we're moving. And I knew that this was a long part that would take some time, but I couldn't believe how insanely fast they decided to go with everything. And, hey, you're in jail. Okay. Who cares? Get in the jail.
Starting point is 01:12:42 Stand battle. Go, go, and I remember certain parts being like, hold on a minute. A new character got introduced. They had at least a half second to establish some rapport before the next fucking action sequence took place and here it was like 10 seconds apart. Um, so we hit a part where, um, there's a, there's what, there's one of the, one of the, uh, encounters, uh, that involves a game of catch. And I went back and I was just going through the manga because I was like, I
Starting point is 01:13:15 was remembering things that I'm like, hold, like they're not cutting. They're, it didn't feel like they were cutting content. It just felt like it was moving quickly. And when I went back to read it, well, one, the pace of reading something slows down, obviously, right? Well, it's whatever you want it to be. But two, they totally did cut out some lines, you know, there was some stuff that like they didn't, like, so there's, there's little parts where, you know, like
Starting point is 01:13:42 some, some prison guard is talking shit and he talks shit for a couple extra panels and you know, um, it adds a little bit of like, uh, I guess, I don't know, like starch, a little bit of rice to the plate, you know what I mean? A little, and, and, uh, it's, and what we're left with when you kind of take some of that away is just like, well, we're getting to the meat and it's nonstop meat, but God damn, it doesn't take a break for a second. You don't get a chance to breathe. It's so condensed.
Starting point is 01:14:14 And when we look back and go like, okay, how many chapters do they have to move through? What is the number of episodes that they are allowed, they're allowed to make? You're like, Oh God, I get it. They don't have time to waste, right? They're doing their best, but they're crushing through, like I did some quick math and, um, they're crushing through about six chapters per episode, which isn't that high?
Starting point is 01:14:44 That's insane. Usually two to three. Yes. In some cases you can do one chapter for half an episode, right? Um, some stand battles are, you know, like three chapters or so. Like it's not that big a deal. Um, in this particular instance, I looked back and I saw that like by the time we were on, I think it was episode six, episode six represented chapter like 33.
Starting point is 01:15:16 And I'm like, holy fuck, that explains it. That's why it feels so absolutely, uh, fucking breakneck is because yeah, by the time you're halfway through that, the, you know, you're on the sixth episode, which is fast watching, you know, you're like, oh, you can just sit there, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop. And that's like, that's the equivalent of reading 33 chapters into fucking Stone Ocean. Um, so it's still, it's great.
Starting point is 01:15:40 Um, this is great. Who needs to read? It's really good, but, uh, you definitely don't get some of the like breather time. Um, and, and, and, and in some cases it means that like, uh, someone who suddenly is like an ally is now like your fucking blood brother, ride or die. You know, S link one, I will take a mortal blow for you. And it's like, well, we had a little bit more time to like get to know each
Starting point is 01:16:18 other before it went that extreme. But here, bim, bam, boom. What's up? Okay, rolling and ah, you know, I will jump in front of the bullet. So I think we got to five, uh, and the thing that stood out very strongly, uh, to me was that in phantom blood encounters are measured in years and then days, right? In battle tendency, it's days.
Starting point is 01:16:49 In part three, uh, starters, it's days in part four, it's days in part five. It's 16 hour chunks in part six from the first to the second fight. I can't tell if it was more than like three hours. Yeah. And yeah, Jolene is getting like slightly injured in every encounter, but by the time we get to the next encounter, which might be the same day, her injuries are now to be ignored. Like it says, I mean, so, um, there's a, a chapter.
Starting point is 01:17:34 Or not a chapter, but like there's, there's a, there's a point during this, this, uh, during these episodes where the, the, the, the action takes place in 20 minutes, right? 20 minutes to do a, to do something. There's a time limit. Yeah. And you end up watching that over the course of, of course, anime time, it slows it the fuck down.
Starting point is 01:17:57 But, um, when you're reading those 20 minutes, it was like an entire volume and maybe two, you know, uh, so it's, you're going to, you're going to just look at like, well, anyway, I don't, I don't want to say much about like how much to expect and, and, and stuff in terms of like, you know, uh, where this is going to go and whatnot and whatnot, but, um, I guess I'm just like, I'm looking at it and think, I'm thinking even though they have the ability cause JoJo was fucking, it's the number one, it was the big number one Netflix recommendation. It's like, it is here.
Starting point is 01:18:36 It's popular. It's huge. It's, it was the number one entertainment tab on, on Twitter when it launched. Um, it has properly arrived in the mainstream and, and, and people are paying attention to it. Um, I guess they just kind of looked at it and went like, guys, we don't ever want to do what we did for Stardust Crusaders again and go two full seasons. It looks, yeah, that was weird.
Starting point is 01:19:01 It looks like they just want to keep every part to one contained season. And if they can keep it like, uh, uh, you know, on the short side, even if the, the size and the pacing would breathe easier with that length, they just, they're not doing it again. They did it for seats for, for, for part three. And then they went, yeah, fuck this from now on, we're crushing it in. Mm-hmm. I don't mind because, uh, the manga is still there.
Starting point is 01:19:29 It is. Like, this gives me a good reason to just go ahead and after I watch the anime, just go watch the manga and have the, the music and animation in my head. Yeah. You just don't want to, you don't want to miss out on things. And so far nothing, I feel nothing has been missed out on that's like essential or like really, you know, uh, that, that's like, that makes it inferior in any way. Um, you just have to be okay with breakneck pace.
Starting point is 01:19:53 Uh, but what I'm worried about is that like, there are some slower moments that if they do cut them down, then you're going to miss out on some good characterization. So I hope they don't, uh, cut out like some of the good idle conversations and things like that in favor of like getting to the next action sequence, you know. Um, and then of course, you know, as the conversation always goes, I, uh, I really hope they don't attempt to do the same condense condensation for part seven because it'll get infinitely worse. It'll become unwatchable.
Starting point is 01:20:33 If you try to pit, if you try to fit, you know, part seven into 40 episodes or less, it'll, it'll, it will be unwatchable. I promise, you know. Um, that being said, what's there is great. What's there is awesome. Um, and you know, it's really fun to have such a short sequence where, uh, the intro, you get to slowly follow each encounter in that first intro all the way up to the end.
Starting point is 01:21:00 And then by the, by the end, you're, you're of the first part, you're understanding every visual, um, you know, the, the, the, uh, the way the, the battles played out is really cool. Um, it's, and it, and it, it's, I'm getting a reaction from, um, punch mom that I'm really happy with, which is like the three, four and five are like one and two, you know, Araki is like, I like Fist of the North Star and vampires and, yep, and fashion and yeah, and music. I like these things.
Starting point is 01:21:41 Cool. And then three, four and five is like, okay, yo, stand battles. We figured it out. We're doing it, right? Yu-Gi-Oh, we figured out we're doing the card thing. Fuck all the other types of puzzles. We're sticking with the cards now. Um, right.
Starting point is 01:21:55 And then six to me is like, where are they? Where he goes, you know, this isn't anywhere near as bizarre as I promised it would be. And while it's cool to watch a bunch of floating punch ghosts come at each other, why not stretch out what the definition of a stand to the thinnest, most in weird, nonsensical definitions to the point where, um, a stand battle might literally be convincing someone to not commit suicide. That's the battle.
Starting point is 01:22:29 You know, yeah, why not? Um, I love that. And I love how like they just, they, they push that to its limit and they never stop from this part forward. The definition of what a stand is gets so thin and so weird. So when you see a meme of like riding or a or aing on Armstrong and the caption is stand battle, Jojo, protragas trying to beat a stand user who can solidify their piss when someone in the room tilts a pinball machine over five angles.
Starting point is 01:23:04 Oh, that's a scary ability. No, it's like, yeah, that's where we're going, man. We're getting to a place where like you will not predict anything about the rules of this stand anymore. You will not predict like what the range or like the range idea and all that is, is, is still being followed. But like the, it really just means any phenomenon of any kind whatsoever. Bar none.
Starting point is 01:23:37 I think, I think, uh, we got to have a great moment as a couple, genuinely watching, I'm going to say episodes three, four and five, everything that takes place inside the visitor room, right? Because, uh, that's a good example because it's like layers upon layers of fucking nonsense going on in that encounter. Um, and I was confidently watching it and going, Oh, I wonder how they're going to get out of this jam and Paige is sitting next to me, just like audibly confused, like not just like confused or you can see it, but like
Starting point is 01:24:14 the confused that noises of confusion are emanating from the woman. And I'm like, yeah, what's wrong? It's, I mean, this, this, this, I don't know. And then one single front line of dialogue makes her confusion very legitimate. And now I'm more confused than she was because at least she had the decency to be confused. And now ironically enough, because of her earlier confusion, she's following it more carefully than I am.
Starting point is 01:24:46 And now I'm confused. Yeah. No, it like, it has moments that are coming of like you, your brain early on and we'll look and just go, you know what, don't fight it. It's Jojo. Just embrace and then wait until the narrator explains to you. And then you go, no, wait, shut the fuck up. What?
Starting point is 01:25:09 You know, no, no, stop. What, what? And it's like, Hey, hey, no, you, you, you thought you let go, but you didn't let go. You know, you, there's a further letting go that is required. Uh, yeah, yeah. And then there's stuff where just like the rules of the world are, are what you're questioning.
Starting point is 01:25:30 You're not questioning the stand even and like what's happening in the battle or the enemy. You're questioning the rules of this world, you know, um, the, the, the virgin storm can manipulate weather in big, fancy, lightning, attackish ways by flying up into the sky and going, ah, the same thing that happens to everything else, plop, plop. The Chad weather report has it ever occurred in any point in history? Has it been recorded?
Starting point is 01:26:04 It's a natural phenomenon that happens outside that counts as weather. We're using it. But that's not, no, it happened. It counts as weather. We're using it though. You know, and if, and if all else fails and you completely and utterly fail to grasp like where you are and why anything is happening at the end of all of that, you just go, yeah, but Florida.
Starting point is 01:26:33 So Jojo has felt like the kind of situation where Ericie writes the character and then the, this is the character's list of definable characteristics. And from, even from the limited amount of point that I've seen of part six, it feels like part six, the character gets to look back at its author and go, what if I could do this though and can sometimes convince the author that this extra thing is technically under their purview? I mean, Jojo's abilities kind of fucking show you the way. You're not going to do him not knowing exactly what the stand does.
Starting point is 01:27:12 What does this mean? I think I saw an interview a million years ago that's like explain the stand. What is life? Req raised him. And he's like, even Giorno doesn't understand it. And like, that's the answer to the question. And it's like, so you just, so you just run up a bunch of bullshit. Didn't you?
Starting point is 01:27:35 You never made your mind up. You never fucking yeah. Which can I do? Well, which is it? It's the power of life. What is that? Yeah. What is that?
Starting point is 01:27:43 Why does it stop people's sensation of time? What does that have to do with life? But, but that's, but this is it. Like we are, we are beginning the, like we're, we're ascending off of the earth of just floating punch ghosts and we're getting into the buggy strange shit. I, it's, it's funny to me because I'm just thinking about Giorno again and how fucking what a mess that is. And it's like, okay, Giorno, what if Dio was a good person?
Starting point is 01:28:13 So instead of time stop, he has the ability to have the sensation of time go fast for others. That's the starting power. It's cut to throwing bullet Beatles at people. Yeah. No. So that their heads explode. Also punch a punch a punch a fraud, turn a fraud, bag it, luggage into frog.
Starting point is 01:28:33 You hit the frog, it, it, the damage comes back to you. Um, double. Yeah. You know, now we slow down, delete the cause. No effect. Uh, yeah, whatever, man. He's got a hole in his chest. Look at it.
Starting point is 01:28:55 He's, he's got a heart. He has a dream. No, it, it just, I hate, I hate drugs. Yeah. It, it, it, like Araki has absolutely like has had his, his moments of he's in the middle of drawing the panels and he still hasn't made up his mind on what is about to happen. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:18 You know, there's a, there's a real fun, uh, image macro I see going around that was like, it appears that, uh, her key may have a subconscious bias in which they show, here's what prison, here's what prison guards look like in Italy. Here's what prison guards look like in Florida. And it's the difference between a bunch of handsome, normal looking men and a bunch of fucking space alien. With like that doughnut shit.
Starting point is 01:29:48 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. It's like, oh, I see. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:52 I see how it be. And then the other thing it feels like he's trying to do. And, um, I promise you future parts of, of, of six, uh, are going to, are going to escalate, um, the idea of the, the protagonist has to figure out the rules of the stand, right? Right. That's the nut. That's every stand battle that's ever been.
Starting point is 01:30:16 Totoro looks at the cast and goes, stop it. They could do anything to us. Yes. Let's stop and figure the rules out. And then we can figure out how to break them. That I once fought a rat that could melt me with a syringe. That becomes bullshit. That people like the rules become lies very quickly.
Starting point is 01:30:45 And then it just becomes like, wait, hold on. What? Like you're internally no longer consistent with what you said the rules are in the same fight. So what, like, what does the protagonist do? And it's just like, and like the answer is they have to break the rules in an equally bullshit way. But you just said the rules are bullshit.
Starting point is 01:31:09 Yeah. Like, you know, you know, like, like basically, you know, you, you start off with the first parts of Jojo where we're playing and, um, you know, things get pretty heated. So eventually we have to introduce a referee. And then the advancement of the game is, okay, now there's a ref who can call the shots. We have to learn how to fake our injury so that the ref can call the flag
Starting point is 01:31:32 for my side. And then the final step is murder the referee so that there is no rules again. They can't stop me if they're dead, man, and then play the game of soccer around the ref's body. You know, uh, it's, it's just fucking stupid. And, and I love it. I love it. Great part.
Starting point is 01:31:54 Um, binge that shit so that I like, I like it. I like it more than five already. Yeah. Binge it so you can go back to be hot being like when the fuck is the next Jojo and just like having that, that hole in your life again. You know, it'll be a bit. It's a, it'll be a long bit. I really like, I was thinking about this and it's like, okay, waiting for one
Starting point is 01:32:17 episode a week is kind of torturous at times. Um, 12 in one shot is self-destructive. A happy medium of give, it's a little much. Yeah. Give me three episodes and then bounce for a little bit and then come back. The only thing I don't like about how they've, uh, the only thing I don't like about how they've done the episodes out and like a big group of 12 is like, I kind of like seeing the weekly batch of memes.
Starting point is 01:32:47 True. True. You get to keep getting a weekly batch of me. No, no, it's all in one. It's all in one. And people have to watch it all. One big meme. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:32:56 People have to watch it all or not. That's true. Uh, yeah. So that, there you go. And I mean, and obviously just a shout out to everyone for doing the right thing and getting Kira to fucking, yeah, for real, to do apparently the, uh, what her bloodline is, has the exact same thing going. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:33:17 Um, where I got into the business to be Joly, I for us. She, um, literally, yes, started, we talked about this one that she got announced started this entire business with the goal of, of, of JoJo because like that was her inspiration, incredible story, really fun stuff. You know, so, um, the casting across the board, just wonderful, super happy about all of that. Um, and, uh, and I talked about the, the, uh, the Japanese, Nolan North and Troy Baker equivalent as, as well.
Starting point is 01:33:55 Um, and like that, that worked out. You know, I got to say, uh, in the games, Pucci, uh, it was voiced by Joji Nakata, who's got like a nice deep voice that like works. And I didn't at all mind that, but, uh, this version of it works totally good too. And it, and it's, and it's just a testament to like the fucking skill level and the, and the prolificness of, of, of, you know, um, Sekito Mikazu, like crushing it. So yeah, uh, fucking just all around it.
Starting point is 01:34:32 JoJo is just doing its thing. Uh, and take notice this time. Hey, I have something to say about how JoJo works. Part skippers are scum. I'm just going to say, it's my opinion. I'm not gatekeeping. It's free. It's right there on the same service.
Starting point is 01:34:51 Yeah. Um, also, uh, perfect opportunity to write an article to get everybody to quote tweet it, to, to build up attention currency, you know, like what we'll get, what is everyone talking about and what we'll get everyone, the most heated, what take about what anime will get everyone to quote, tweet me today. All right. This looks like a good one. Let's go write that article.
Starting point is 01:35:16 Let's make the inflammatory, not inflammatory enough. Let's change it. Let's really, really tweak the, I don't think anybody is going to get anything as like absolutely unhingedly maddening as the Jeff through JoJo read order. I think, I think, uh, I think, uh, I think, uh, I think, uh, I think I think the Jeff does really good videos, particularly I love his, his JoJo part now, the interest stuff, but his, his, his like read slash watch order was like that of an insane, unhinged maniac.
Starting point is 01:35:53 Yeah. That's that was some, that was a little bit of damage. It was a little bit of damage. Um, I was going to say something else. Oh yeah. Yeah. Um, take notice, uh, and each part you get more and more of this, but take notice of like the little moments where like the artwork gets incredible, you
Starting point is 01:36:18 know, um, the, the, the quality of the water looks really good. The amount of lines on Jolene's face, like triples, and then it doesn't only, not only that to get more detailed, but like it's not a static image, like she moves, you know, in some, in some cases, like it looks, she looks really dramatic looking down and then lifts our head up and you're like, Oh shit, they animated that heavily inked like moment. Like they, they, they are putting more into it and, um, they fucking like are going out of their way to play with all the colors and make them just as wild
Starting point is 01:36:56 and as fun as they were in part four. And I love that. Um, it's interesting because this is gonna be a bit of a stretch, but, um, the manga and comic industries have always had like a shared history. And one of the more interesting things is that you look at JoJo currently, which is hyper colorful, like almost absurd in like, like the colors have no basis in reality a lot of the time. Like you'll get to a different scene and it'll be dramatic.
Starting point is 01:37:28 So all of a sudden cat coin is, has like black hair in a purple fucking suit or you know, some shit, like it doesn't, it doesn't matter. Right. Giorno spent the last time of the, the last entire fucking his own show in a bright pink version of his outfit, which isn't even the most commonly depicted version of that outfit. And then you look at like what the popular version of like what has happened to comic books that have history and like Jack Kirby stuff, right?
Starting point is 01:37:56 That is all big fucking colors and it's always muted. It's always like toned down and sleek and earth tones and just calm down, calm down. It's one of the things that I think about because I played the Guardians of the Galaxy game relatively recently and it makes me think of like how much better Gamora's design is in that than in the films. Oh yeah. Because she's allowed to have loud contrasting colors.
Starting point is 01:38:26 Yeah. Yeah. No, like what Jolene hair color do you want? Which, you know, you'll get them all by the end of the show. I'm sure it's just fucking rotated on an episode by episode basis. Is she dyeing her hair? No, shut up. The world is just interesting.
Starting point is 01:38:43 Leave it alone. Yeah. Uh, fucking, fucking awesome shit on that. I don't think anybody saw or knew what to expect of the ending theme and it's a song from 2008 from an artist that I completely have never heard of and it's nice. It's nice. You know, it's unfortunate, I guess it's, you know, it's not anything fun or
Starting point is 01:39:14 particularly like a pop of the era that, that the series came from. But it's fine. It's nice. The waves crashing against the shore, the ocean and the stone. It's nice for now. Yes. Please look forward. I'm sure it may become more interesting in the future.
Starting point is 01:39:35 Well, that's the thing is like I think we're, yeah, each part you're going to get your new intro and then I assume we're going to get like probably three. And then the third one is going to have two variations, you know, if they're doing things, if they're doing things, man, I don't even know anything about part six and I'm watching the intro to part six and I'm like, there's a lot going on in this thing. Yeah, like when she walks towards the bars, the spectral background is the fucking place that Jotaro beat Dio in in his intro and she does her and she does
Starting point is 01:40:18 her own stand up from the space. Exactly. From the space behind them, you know, and then the legacy all goes inside the star shape, which becomes the tattoo and she goes to leave, but the bars are there. It's not prison. It's the legacy. She's and she, she's trapped in there with their bullshit and then he's
Starting point is 01:40:40 standing behind them, ignoring her because he's too busy looking at a dolphin. I feel, I feel like if I was, if I was in charge of like any part of anything to do with part six, I was like, have a moment where Jotaro is just reading like a girly magazine and then he puts it down and you see that it was not a girly magazine. It was a girly magazine cover over like marine biology, dolphin facts, yes, yes, yes, and just like totally and just, and just just, you know, I'm sure somebody is way, way smarter and better at editing than me because I'm thinking of the
Starting point is 01:41:27 episode in three where there's a flashback where Jotaro and the wife are fighting, right? And I just, I'm just imagining the wife going, how could you leave? And just Jotaro's response is just covered by that fucking public domain flipper dolphin noise. Yeah, my, my, my version of that would be Jotaro's dead serious, but there's just different pins of starfishes and octopus and, you know, and various sea life that appear on his hat that change every time.
Starting point is 01:42:03 Every, yeah, every time the, the, it cuts, it's there either in different positions or just new ones. Yes, that's it. And you're like, wait, are using star platinum to time stop and add more fishpins to your hat? Shut up. Yeah. Don't fucking leave me, leave me alone.
Starting point is 01:42:23 Shut up. That's, that's how you do it. Where inside this man was this love for the sea, for sea life? Well, you clearly ignored the anchor that was, that he wore on his, his fashionable student clothing, which now is right there and he's an adult man who still has to wear student clothing because he's just uncomfortable in anything else. Hey, Jotaro, why don't you take off that fucking hat and he's like, I can't.
Starting point is 01:42:48 It's fused to my head. Now the best, I don't know where my hair starts and the hat begins and weather the report is like me too. Is it my hair? Is it a hat? Who the fuck knows? It's great. It's great.
Starting point is 01:43:06 I love, I love tripling down on not only does Ariki refuse to elaborate on the hat, but here's more confusion. Yeah. And we've seen him take the hat off. So we know that Jotaro can take the hat off and have a normal ass hair when he's fighting Darby the gamer underneath the hat, but then he puts it back on and it still makes no sense. It just doesn't.
Starting point is 01:43:28 Anyway, don't worry about leaning into it. It's not important. Yeah. It's okay. Hair will continue to make no sense in this franchise. Um, and I love it. One of the, I mentioned this sometime ago, but one of the coolest people is like, like there's a character, uh, way down the line parts from now that has
Starting point is 01:43:49 literally newspaper papier maché as hair. And like, I'm, and it's like, well, I'm just wondering like if we animate this, will it be a transparent layer where the newspaper can be read as he moves around the screen? You know, how do you animate that? Like, what are they going to do? They literally just went, yeah, fuck it. For this guy's hairstyle, grab a newspaper and put that over the, uh,
Starting point is 01:44:22 the dot tone and just etch that in. It's, it's madness. Oh, I have my hand raised. I'm going to raise my hand. I want to cut in for a FF 14 Q watch. A new problem has been discovered. Uh, the Q is not based on a timer. It's based off of maximum occupancy.
Starting point is 01:44:44 So I have a friend of mine who's been at the same number for like 35 minutes. So here's another, here's another bonus. Hey, congrats. You've got all the way down to number 500 and there you will stay until 500 people leave. That's, that's fun. That's good. Oh man.
Starting point is 01:45:12 Uh, so yeah, anyway, Jojo, fantastic. Um, I also, uh, I'm about two episodes away from the end of arcane, I think. Oh, you, you let me, I, uh, I, uh, I've been busy. Okay. Oh, where'd you, you went to like, you left, you said you watch three or four? Got four and a half, four and a half. Okay. I got to see Jinx.
Starting point is 01:45:36 Okay. And that's a great opening. So the show is really immaculate. It's fucking good. It's just good. Um, things where you, there's even in moments where you go like, all right, time for movie logic to apply, uh, where, where you, you like, um, want to give it the benefit of the doubt or whatever.
Starting point is 01:46:03 Like, okay. So for example, um, we know Vi is strong. We know she boxes. We know she's a bad ass. Um, how many grown adult thugs can she handle coming at her at the same time? And will those thugs wait around in a circle? Ella Batman to swing? No, they won't.
Starting point is 01:46:23 They're all coming at the same time. She can handle about four and a half, but fortunately she's on a bridge, which makes it so that they're kind of stopped in a 300 S kind of way. And if you make some room, you can squeeze around some of them. And then the four and a half one will come with the hammer and damn it. You're still a child. You're not going to make it. Okay, that's fine.
Starting point is 01:46:44 I believe that, you know, you're good. You're just, you're good enough to get through that much before like the hero juice, the, the plot armor breaks apart because you're still just a child punching. You know, and you've also got the legendary cool, uh, uh, you know, gauntlets with you. Um, I mean, similarly to how I am an adult man with the powers of a child, there are others that are younger, that are much stronger than the average person. Sure.
Starting point is 01:47:18 Sure. So, um, and, and yeah, the, the, you know, the rest of the show, uh, um, is this doing its thing? And I'm looking at every character and I'm squinting because I'm just like, are you going to be a thing in like, in like a couple of years? Are you going to become something? Cause I feel like you're going to become something. You know, and, uh, uh, and then turns out they already were, they already were.
Starting point is 01:47:44 You just never saw them. Exactly. Exactly. Um, uh, in particular, like, so I didn't, again, I, as someone who knows nothing about this coming at it backwards and same thing with punch mom, it's really funny watching it, not as I know, not as this is the backstory and we're watching the journey to become the characters we know, but this is a tabula rassa and we have no idea where these characters are going and whether they're
Starting point is 01:48:10 going to make it or not, or who's important or not. So it was really fun when it was like, there's a point where I'm like, oh yeah. So we, we said last time, oh yeah, that's echo the little kid with the, with the white hair and, uh, he's the guy that's doing all the cool time stoppy stuff in the project, I'll, uh, footage like, oh shit. Okay. Cool. Don't, um, right.
Starting point is 01:48:29 And then when I was at, when I, when I was looking at, uh, at like the, the, the way they're going to handle him in, in the show, I was like, okay, well, like, I have to assume that he's a character that's a major dude that we haven't, they're, they're taking, we haven't seen him yet. We don't know what's going on. So I'm like, I, I'm going to put two and two together and assume that like, you know, maybe this mask man from the intro might be like that or something, you know, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:48:57 Um, and like, it's one of these things where it should be, I assume very obvious to anyone who's played the games and who's known and who's seen the characters and stuff, but like, like mask characters show up and then the blaring hip hop immediately follows and the mask character has like a music video practically of like them bobbing their head and being extremely black energy and you're like, yeah, I guess that's echo. Like, I, I who I tell you what, like, like, did you see when the whole story turned into black mode?
Starting point is 01:49:45 I did. I see it was great. I liked it. It was really good. What I'm like, yeah, I, I guess that's him then. All right. No mystery. Um, yeah, no, it's just, it's really fun.
Starting point is 01:50:00 And like, um, there's some stuff that I really like again, like some details that I thought are, were excellently handled. Um, but then some stuff that I, there is one little thing here that is sticking with me and, um, when you see little young powder, um, have her temper tantrum? Yeah, let's call it that fantastic because like, it's like, yeah, movies will show you character curling up in a ball and then a single tier and then the music will play. That's not how a 10 year old throws a tantrum.
Starting point is 01:50:40 No, there is snot and spit and it's gross horrible and it's just a fuck and it's guttural and ugly and it's just like, uh, and there's because abandonment issues are coming out was that there was no directed energy. Like there's no, there's nowhere that there's nothing in the room and there's no person in the vicinity to direct the tantrum. Sure. So it's just, it's just all over the place. I thought that was incredible.
Starting point is 01:51:06 I thought that was so good. You know, I was like, yeah, that's what it looks like when a child with abandonment issues fucking loses it, right? It's just this ugly, shitty thing. So awesome on that. And, and, and, um, and I'm like looking for more of that kind of issue of like, it's not this pretty cinematic thing, right? Um, and I, I guess I kind of knew, but didn't really fully know because again,
Starting point is 01:51:34 like I just, I'd seen artwork of these characters, but I knew that like the character we're getting towards of Jinx is one that is going to have, uh, what we call modern Harley Quinn energy, right? She's going to have to have, she's, she's a discard deck. Willie. Right. Right. She plays discard.
Starting point is 01:51:57 Oh, look at that. She throws away all the pieces at that. Look at that. There you go. Yeah. So it, it, there's a little bit of like, I, when I saw it happening, I was like, Oh yeah, right. The, the, the, the exploding teddy bears and all that stuff.
Starting point is 01:52:15 Like it's, there's a little bit of that LOL, so random kind of vibe. And it was just, but it's actually a rest of development. Sure. Um, but like, it does come out and you have to go further to see the way that it's depicted because what I just described about like that tantrum, for example, was excellent. Um, and then where it kind of goes towards is something that's not as realistically depicted and becomes way more, um, modern Harley Quinn is one
Starting point is 01:52:50 example, Yandere energy ish. Like I'm so crazy. Haha. Mr. Squiggles, potatoes, uh, and, you know, talking to the, talking to the voices and being like cutesy insane in just the right ways that are particularly appealing to, uh, you know, like a certain demographic. Um, and it was funny because like punch bomb fucking just hated that aspect of
Starting point is 01:53:20 it. She's just like, Oh God, I'll give me the kid powder back, please. Cause it was just like, it was one of those bits where you're like, yeah, they lean into it in a, um, I, yeah, I like, like, like, like, uh, LOL. So random is one way to say it. Like how are the Quinn is another way taught topic crazy, you know, where you're like, you're, you're, you're not. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:53:43 Hey, guess what? I just checked out while you were talking the original jinks release video that came out eight years ago. And the things that you're talking about are 10 times stronger in that version of the character than what we're dealing with now. Like there was that they can't get rid of all of it, but it's bordering on cringe, like, you know, and you, and you have that energy and it's really intense and it's like, you know, that I'm crazy, not because, um, uh, not
Starting point is 01:54:15 because my fucking teeth are falling out and, uh, my hair has patches in it and shits falling apart, but because, um, I'm, I look great, but my mascara is a little leaky kind of energy and you're like, okay, like some of this is going from that, that initial like freak out that I really liked into like this sort of thing. Um, and, and it's funny because it, it, it, it moves from tragic figure to I can fix her, uh, I, I see it in less love like that. And I see it more like, like, like target audience is like the, uh, like a
Starting point is 01:54:54 hot topic girl that's like, lol. So crazy, you know, let's be crazy and love together. Like, isn't it so and then kill our spawn heroin? Yeah, let's fucking, you guys love heroin. I love heroin and, and like, but this is the thing. And it's the, it's an, it's a specific energy, right? And here's what it is. Like not the, not necessarily the old Harley Quinn.
Starting point is 01:55:14 That's like a forties, like right out of a, a speakeasy, like, oh, Mr. J kind of character, but like the modern crazy and love damaged version of things. And this is also the, the, the target demographic has a Himiko Toga avatar from my hero academia as their profile picture. Like the Toga avatar. Tell me, you know what that energy means. That's, that's a deep, come on. You know what I mean when I say that the Toga avatar girl, it's a very specific type,
Starting point is 01:55:49 you know, and I'm like, yeah, that's what Jinx is, I guess, you know, um, it's, it's funny. It's funny because it's, it's still really, it's still really, really good. But that part of it where like the end result is aimed and marketed in that sort of way is like, I guess I just, I, I didn't know enough to know. And if you're saying that the reveal from years ago was even more. Oh, I mean, Jinx, Jinx in, in, in league is literally like just fucking steampunk Harley Quinn with pastel colors.
Starting point is 01:56:29 Okay. Okay. Yeah. So love, I love, just, I love murder. Yeah. Um, and I just feel like, you know, I guess it wouldn't have been accurate to change any of that, to reflect a modern sensibility too, too much, especially since you know, she's got the big rocket or not rocket, but she's got the weapons with
Starting point is 01:56:49 the smiley faces on them and stuff. It's, it's, you know, it's part of what they're doing. It's the cute, but dangerous kaboom, Mr. Mr. whatever, cutesy explosion, you know, Five Nights at Freddy's stuff. Um, and, and, and, and I guess by contrast, Vi is just kind of like just being a fucking street kid and, um, I'm waiting to see what version of that becomes the, the one that looks like the, the stuff that the artwork in the games is, but they're clearly building to it, but for the most part,
Starting point is 01:57:23 the question is really is, is, uh, I'm not familiar enough with Jinx. Is she 80? I'm asking this to the live audience. Is she ADC or is she mid? I bet she's ADC because if she's ADC, then that explains everything. Well, um, Vi, uh, in the meantime, I just, I buy everything going on with her character and, um, and the setting in the world and all of it. It's just like, yeah, it's just airtight.
Starting point is 01:57:57 It's just really airtight. Um, feels as if they've like gone through ADC. Is that the answer? Yeah. She's an attack damage carry. I see. That explains everything. And vice, obviously a jungler.
Starting point is 01:58:14 You should be able to tell from her personality. Willie. Yes. Of course. Uh, those two will never work together. It's so like we, we had like a little bit of a joke talking about how it's like, yeah, we're starting to care about this world and get into all of this. And I, I just, I can just be a consumer of the backstory lore and no active
Starting point is 01:58:44 interest in the ongoing titles, you know, like this, this, this is probably where we're going. Um, but yeah, no, uh, I feel like the, um, the rest of, uh, how it's everything comes together is really well done. And I feel like there must have been like revisions of the script to like go over any things that would be like, wait, why would someone do this? Or why would this person say this? Or why would you act this way?
Starting point is 01:59:09 And then just like cleaned it up and cleaned it up. And it's, it's, it's tight. It's tight. There's a, there's, you know, very few moments where you're kind of like, you know, like questioning motivations, I guess I should say. Um, there's an awesome shot as well in, um, there's a fight Vi has like hand to hand with one of, um, one of the bad guys, henchmen. And like the, even the choreography I'm like looking at and going like, oh,
Starting point is 01:59:38 they're doing a fucking sick job with that too. Like Vi gets grabbed and like, um, swung around for like almost like a, like a, like a judo throw and then slammed into the ground. And like when she gets swung, the camera like rotates to keep her as the center of gravity, almost. And, and it's disorienting to give the viewer the disorient. It gives the viewer the dis, and it's a really cool shot. It's just a nicely done choreographed sequence.
Starting point is 02:00:05 And I was like, damn, that's fucking solid, you know, like, um, and then there's a, there's parts where they look at photos of characters or artwork of characters or paintings and the painting like blends into the world so well because the 3d looks like moving paintings already, you know, it's really just like fucking shit's great, man. Uh, I'm going to see if I can finish it off probably tonight, I guess. Um, but yeah, uh, not much, not much else to say, just that, just that little point about vice energy, um, the next time I fuck up and get logged out,
Starting point is 02:00:47 I'll probably finish the rest of arcane. That's, that's, that's where tasks are sitting in my life right now. Hey, let me ask you a question, woolly. In the four episodes that I watched of arcane, this league of legends is no, wait, no, that's, that's just completely wrong. That's, that's not even close. Runeterra is the planet runeterra is the world. Are we finally going to see some tops in that fucking roster or not?
Starting point is 02:01:22 I mean, everybody I saw was fucking mid or bought or jungle. I didn't see one top. I saw a top. Yo, you see Mel. Mel is top as fuck. She's great. That, uh, the black lady, the counselor, the super duper hot counselor woman. Oh, she didn't have a name back when she came out as a card.
Starting point is 02:01:44 Is she a card? She's a card first. Is she a, is she a character? Can you play us her? I don't know if she's, I don't know. No, no, she's not. Okay. Well, whoever the fuck that character is, she is Jace's top.
Starting point is 02:01:58 I don't care. I don't like Jace that counselor. Lady Mel is gorgeous. Wow. Holy fuck. God damn what a character design. Um, it's good shit. Well, come to think of it, she wasn't a card first because the arcane took six years to
Starting point is 02:02:19 make. That means any characters that they made would have been kicked down into like, you know, the list of existing shit to put into other projects. Does that mean Sithra is going to be in a TV show? I'd watch a TV show about Sithra. Yeah, I don't, I don't, I don't know what to expect, you know, I'm just going off of, whatever we see in that intro, which is now stuck in my fucking head. Oh, the misery, everybody wants to be my enemy.
Starting point is 02:03:02 But I watch it. That was a great rendition. Yeah, that was a good, that was good. Thank you. I'm glad you felt confident enough to sing that for us. Totally. That's what we do here. And you know, I'm, I'm in particular, uh, I'm looking out to see like, okay, so I
Starting point is 02:03:21 see that in the intro, Jace has a big hammer, but so far he's just been doing the thing with the politicking. Maybe he will become an hammer man. And, um, I have no idea what he looks like in his game state at the end. Uh, I have no idea. He looks really similar to what you're looking at now. Okay. He just kind of has a hammer and a little bit of a robot arm.
Starting point is 02:03:51 And I don't think it's even a full robot arm. I think it's like a thing he put on. And I don't know what the, um, you were talking about with the cop girl as well, uh, turns into, yeah. Hey, let me, will you singed in the show? Singed. Uh, I names like a borderland names are not a borderlands character that leaves fire behind him and he runs away.
Starting point is 02:04:17 Names are not going to work. I'm going to have to see things. Uh, let's see. Uh, uh, Oh, um, Silvo. No, singed. Ah, whatever. Okay.
Starting point is 02:04:35 People are saying singed is in there. Singed is cool. I like, uh, let me see silk, silk, silco. No, singed singed. Okay. I'm looking up singed and I'm seeing pictures of silco. Um, so maybe that's not right. Singed.
Starting point is 02:05:02 These pictures aren't helping me. Let's see what's happening here. Oh, I think I know who that was. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, this guy. Yeah. No, he's in it. He's in it.
Starting point is 02:05:16 He's, uh, okay. Yeah. He, he's in it and he matters. Was he the guy with the vial? Yes. Yes. Oh, that's crazy. I love singed.
Starting point is 02:05:26 The scientist that works for silco. Yeah. He, I love that guy. He, he plays a significant role. He does stuff. He has an infuriating play style that is, is just toxic by default. Really? He's playable, huh?
Starting point is 02:05:42 He pokes you, right? Like he literally pokes you and like, or moves your character around does a little bit damage. And then as he runs away, he leaves like flame behind him. Okay. So if you try and chase him, you get horribly burned. That's the whole, that's his whole game style. It's, it's, it's hilarious.
Starting point is 02:05:59 I mean, it's kind of a fun game to play. Like, is this going to be a playable character or not? Like, I'm like, I'm seeing limping, uh, sick scientist men. And I'm like, oh, you're going to, you definitely have to be somebody. You become someone for sure. There's no way we're going through all this and you're not going to tell me you're coming out the other side as some playable something, you know? And, and, uh, yeah, but it's, it's not everybody though.
Starting point is 02:06:29 I guess it would seem because some people just get fucking offed. And I'm like, oh shit, I thought you were playable. Damn, there you go. It happened, I think twice where people that I, yeah, see. People that I thought was if we're playable characters, just get fucking wrecked. This is, this is the fun part where, uh. It was going to be fun to sail out. The fun part is that you can't, you got to watch all the characters
Starting point is 02:07:02 and the characters that are going to be champions, they can't die because if they died, then they wouldn't be able to, uh, get teleported away to the League of Legends summoner's rift to do their, their battle for the thing that's no longer canon. So, so I guess I don't know. I have no idea where any of this is going, but I'm wondering and I have to have to finish it first because I like, I'm like I said, I'm close to the end, but I'm not done at some point, right?
Starting point is 02:07:31 Because they make reference to like the lanes as a place, right? Yeah, it's a location, but at some point is there. That's just a goon. Is there going to be like a super detailed elaborate explanation for why there are three rows and monsters walking along them? As far as I can tell, and this is all second hand, the, the story of League is like the most complicated thing ever because it was, you were summoning people from time and space to fight your little battles for you, right?
Starting point is 02:08:12 Okay. But then once extra content started to come out, the comics and music videos that was like of these characters in their planet of Runeterra or whatever, League became uncannon. Okay. To its own spin off material. Okay. Cause the world is too detailed to have a nonsense.
Starting point is 02:08:36 Like, like the summoners rift started out as the thing and then became the Marvel versus Capcom of its own setting. That's so crazy. God, that's weird. Wow. Popularity. I mean, you have to go back and build a backstory and that can only work if you have a stable world, right?
Starting point is 02:08:59 Yeah, I guess. Okay. Interesting. Interesting. Yeah, cause I just, I'm part of the back of my mind is like listening out for just like, so like, does every war get fought in three lanes? And, you know, like, is there a, and then two bases? I remember, yeah, I remember doing a tutorial for League of Legends a while
Starting point is 02:09:25 ago that called me the summoner and brought me to the summoner's rift of which is no longer canon. Like that's not a thing anymore. It's like League of, League of Legends right now is the equivalent of the Smash Brothers kid picking up his action figures from the hit show. Oh, so you are and playing a board game. You are a disembodied player that's summoning people and not anymore. Okay, okay.
Starting point is 02:09:56 But they're, but that is that originally existed. It was kind of like that. Gotcha. To my knowledge. Gotcha. It's it like, it's so weird because they were like doing a thing with it. And then as soon as any of the extra stuff started to get popular, it was like, who cares about that out of that first thing?
Starting point is 02:10:15 You just shut up. It's a, it's a team game with all your favorite heroes from the comics. And you're like, but the comics came after. Yeah. Secret Wars, Secret Wars is the, the comparison. You really, boy, were you not kidding about Echo's design, by the way. The difference between a big, oh yeah, it's night and day. The difference between a big white mohawk and big white dreads in that forward,
Starting point is 02:10:45 like a Dreadhawk style is huge. It's so much cooler now. Yes, he looks more like a human being and less like a gangly child, which is we all know are not human. The pants are no longer those like ninja parachute pants that you can't really run in or throw a kick in for that matter. Yeah, no, it is, it is massive. I feel like, like looking at the old artwork, he kind of has like an
Starting point is 02:11:14 Ang vibe to like how the proportions are of his clothing, and especially of like the pants and stuff. And then the new one is just like, oh yeah, no, that looks good. That looks solid. That that's, that's rad. Way on board with that. Um, this replaces all other versions of this character going forward then, or is this just like a skin?
Starting point is 02:11:37 Well, because it's the arcane one and it's the Project L one. And I believe there are skins for in league for every character that appears in the show for their arcane variants. Okay. Well, clearly there's a difference between the version from Project L and what he's doing and the version in the show that's doing other stuff. Cause if the version from Project L existed in the story right now, I feel like that would just be a ridiculous ins you still have an episode and a
Starting point is 02:12:10 have to go true. Fine, fine. But like, how do you, that's a, that's just a boss stand. You know, yeah, time stop stuff is over. It's, it's actually just over. In fact, it is literally a exact stand from seven. If I remember correctly, there's a thing. There's a thing like it's, it's just, it's just that.
Starting point is 02:12:36 So down to the activation device. Yeah, like it's okay. Well, um, arcane's great. Hey, this is going to be like my last update to, to, to exemplify the, the, the frustration feeling my friend that was stuck for half an hour at 30 at 500 got to 24, got a error, got kicked out of the game. And upon logging back in, it got to the spot of 3400 to start. Sorry, buddy.
Starting point is 02:13:18 I'll see you later tonight. Around 11 or 12 or one out. Um, well, that, that makes a perfect, uh, uh, chance to break in and move on. Um, I guess a couple other little things, uh, had a fun little cozy birthday stream in which. Happy birthday by the way. Cheers. Thank you.
Starting point is 02:13:41 Got to, uh, just sit and play some games with punch mom. And, uh, one of which I got to, since I looked outside and, uh, I don't know if you've taken a peek, but we are now in the full on winter wonderland mode. Yeah. I had to clean snow off the top of the car. The map has changed the, the world state has updated. Uh, we got the overnight, uh, and the, today's was the worst possible one. It was, it snowed and had about, uh, maybe six inches of, of nice good snow on top.
Starting point is 02:14:16 Everything, everything looked pretty and then it rained all night. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Just ankle deep ice, cold water, dripping off of everything. So you know that the season has arrived when you can hear the trucks in the
Starting point is 02:14:30 morning starting to clear everything out and starting to do their city, their, their street sweeping, you know? Um, so what perfect time to sit and play a virtual kite flying game. And, uh, yeah, got to play, remerise, get into kiting games, which was, uh, just a little, a little adventure where, uh, it's, it's me running around on a platform flying a kite and there's wind and there's little targets you can aim for. And it's just fucking great. And it's super like, you know, uh, it's just a really fun, simple thing.
Starting point is 02:15:09 And, uh, I'm extremely flattered, uh, by, uh, what was built there. And if you go take a look, you can see, um, just, yeah, it was, it was, uh, a way to test out some stuff that, uh, rum was thinking about for their next game. And, uh, there's these little benches you can just sit on and then get like little logs thinking about what they learned and what they're thinking of and what's coming next. So, um, it's a legitimately just, uh, I, I, the things that I like about flying kites, I got to do it virtually.
Starting point is 02:15:42 And that was really nice. And, um, uh, big thank you, uh, for that experience, not to mention it was updated to, uh, to say happy birthday at the end. So that was very, very sweet. That's really sweet. So thank you so much. I have a, I have a follow-up question. Uh, I saw Remerai talking about how like he was really happy that you had
Starting point is 02:16:05 played his game, but he also mentioned that it was weird to him because your easily, his quickly made game by a comparative amateur had gave you no issues, but a big budget game with tons of people working on it. Apparently like fucked your whole day up or some shit. So, uh, I don't remember the exact phrasing, but it's something along those lines immediately after playing and having a great time with the kite game. Uh, I was like, cool, let's go boot up and have some fun with fall guys since I had not touched it in a long time since the last, uh, stream, I guess.
Starting point is 02:16:43 And I hear that, and it turns out a day or two before they did a big update for the new season. Um, so the timing was big timing was perfect. A whole bunch of new stuff to go check out. So then I boot up fall guys and low and be fucking holds, uh, after it goes through this, you know, long process, first boot says files are missing, game, no good, close it, try again. And I was like, okay, excellent.
Starting point is 02:17:12 And then you boot it up again and then it has a prolonged loading screen, which then leads to a, a sign into your Epic account. This is an Epic thing now. You got to sign in. You will not, you will not, not one guy will fall until you sign into your fucking Epic account like, Oh God. All right. All right.
Starting point is 02:17:34 And then I did that and then you get an error message and then you close the game and then you log back in and then you log in successfully and then you get brought to a title screen. And then I'm just like, I'm like, what the fuck happened between the last time I played this game and now, and the answer is Epic bought it. And that's it. That process in and of itself was enough to make it unplayable completely. And I, I got two crashes after that and then a third and final attempt to boot
Starting point is 02:18:12 in, which it takes a while because it has to load up the anti-cheat. Uh, just led to a, uh, like there was like a server error message, like an Epic server, uh, issue. And it's just like everything wrong is because a big company bought this and is now forcing its integration. And the idea of booting up a simple game about beans running around, jumping and falling off a thing, like you have, you have found the perfect way to do what big companies do and you ruined a small thing and made it fucking literally
Starting point is 02:18:48 unplayable now. Let me, let me tell you, you know what? The word you said in that whole thing made me just like, uh, the most the word integration software integration is nearly universally disastrous. Anytime you take, Hey, we have this thing that works. What have we put this other thing into it? It will break. It will break every time.
Starting point is 02:19:15 Back when I was working on, um, like Tomb Raider and like the big screen exciting message would pop up for the screen X account and it'd be like, Oh God, I hate this thing. You know, telltale club, whatever, but just give me a little fucking no thank you button. Let me just X the fuck out. We get it. You have a big thing.
Starting point is 02:19:36 It pays heavily to get our email addresses and to have a sign up for the Eula and then you love it. Yeah, you know, it's very good for you get it. We get it, but I don't care, but the version of it where it's like, no, no, no, no, this is not a sign up for more stuff incentive. This is a, you will not play your game if you don't. Um, and I don't remember. I don't know if you remember the struggles I had with Bethesda and doom eternal,
Starting point is 02:20:06 but like the absolute, I don't remember them specifically. Only remember that they, it was fucking gross, man. And that's not an online game. That's an offline game where they're like, no, no, they're all signed the fuck in no reward, no, nothing cosmetic. Nope, you cannot play. You can't do shit. You can't get shit.
Starting point is 02:20:27 We will constantly annoy you if you don't sign in and be online. What if you're offline too fucking bad liar? The internet is out there. We know you're just pretending you're not in a cabin in the woods. You have internet shut up. Um, it was really annoying with doom eternal. And in this case, I mean, it's just, you took a thing that worked and it was a simple thing and you just broke it.
Starting point is 02:20:53 And it was such an unbelievable polar opposite experience from booting up a small indie project, having a great time with it and then closing it to fighting with fall guys, you know. And like that was enough for me to just be like, yeah, fuck this game. I'm actively uninterested. Maybe I'll try it again. While months from now, you know, it's wild because I bought that game before the epic thing happened and now the game is worse due to acquisition.
Starting point is 02:21:21 A bunch of circumstances out of my control acquisition, you know, we saw the announcement of the purchase and it's like, oh, boy, all right. Well, you know, they they made a big thing. It was successful. They deserve a payout. That's cool. Um, but what Epic really bought was we're going to force you to sign in, which means we're going to force you who want to play the popular game
Starting point is 02:21:45 to have to make an account on our services. That's what the purchase was all about. There's literally no other thing that to my understanding, like, I mean, they've been doing crossover costumes and whatever with a ton of different games and different IPs or whatever. So it's not like, oh, hey, let's get Bethesda specific stuff in here. It's literally just let's take a popular thing and gate it so that people have to use our account services to play.
Starting point is 02:22:10 You're spending money to annoy people. As far as I can tell, that's all they got out of it. So, yeah, that's enough for me. I'm I'm fucking I'm pretty annoyed at that entire process. And just so we just move the fuck on, you know, so that's what Remba's talking about. And then I played a bunch of games, played some Tetris, played some a little we touched Baba is you for like a minute. That was fun to see the pieces come together and fall apart
Starting point is 02:22:47 and then rebuild them again and to hurt Punch Bombs brain. But I guess, you know, the only thing I would want to touch on here is zero ranger, a shmup that I've been meaning to talk about for a long time, or at least I think you have or play for a long time. Sounds very familiar. I did talk about it when it came out and when I played it for a bit. But I've been meaning to stream it for some time. I meant to say.
Starting point is 02:23:14 So I did and my save was lost because it was from some time ago. And I guess it didn't save to the cloud. So I got a chance to try it out and start from scratch, which is perfect, because there's a bunch of stuff that you get to see when you start from scratch only in this game. Oh, interesting. It is a shmup made by people who love the entire genre and want to build a love letter to it.
Starting point is 02:23:38 Because it is full of references and cool little nods to. So much shit. And like the first stage you get to the boss and before you fight the boss, you have to fight like basically the captured soul of the vik viper. All right, you're fighting an evil vik viper that is, you know, yeah, like. And then it's all right. It's hitting you sold me very strongly and it's and it's using options on you. And you're just fighting basically what would feel like, you know,
Starting point is 02:24:22 the plane from another player on the other side of the screen. You have successfully brought to my attention the second game I'm aware of, which was sold to me with the phrase, dude, you can fight the vik viper in it. Yeah, yeah, you absolutely can. With the first being fucking zone of the enters, of course. Now, the game is hard because that's also what shmup people want out of their games. Smup people are masochists.
Starting point is 02:24:55 The thing with it, though, is that every time you die, you reincarnate and increase the the Lotus mantra a little bit and unlock more continues. So, oh, that's a nice way to dying levels you up. And the more you level up through death, the better continues. You get the further you can progress. So it is, it is a nice way to make up for the meanness of the shmup at times. You also get to unlock after fighting the boss of each stage.
Starting point is 02:25:27 You get a choice of two weapons and they have completely different unique functionalities and you can then like choose. It's not just like getting a straight forward secondary weapon. It's a straightforward third weapon. You have builds that you can make so that like if you want a plane that can. Oh, that sounds great. Yeah, if you want to have a rear shot to shoot straight backwards. OK, but you'll have to sacrifice like a side shot or you want like a close melee thing.
Starting point is 02:25:57 You'll have to sacrifice like a lock on ability and things like that, you know? So you can customize to a degree. Plus, there's a player one and a player two ship that have completely different functions from each other with each weapon you pick up. So some customization exists as well. And then on top of all that and on top of you paying homage to various bosses and characters and shmups and all these little things that you see, it pays homage, of course, to Icaruga.
Starting point is 02:26:23 You know, it pays homage to like all the all the greats. And then like you get these these stages where, you know, there's always a little warning and you hit one where you fly to space and then it's like warning, you may you may attain enlightenment. Do the impossible or break the unbreakable. So you fight a fucking boss, come and then the boss fucking mechs up on you. So then you're you hit a button and then your pilot goes into a henshin
Starting point is 02:27:01 transformation sequence and your ship fucking mech is up. And then you can either grab the sword or the drill and then go in and melee it. Yeah. And it's the fucking coolest shit. And the damage is great. And you have a whole different mechanic now of like, I'm not shooting bullets. I'm just slashing them with the sword or drilling through them and getting up in the face of everything and meleeing it, you know.
Starting point is 02:27:34 The game is fucking cool, man. It's just, you know, it's it's a hard ass shmup. It's going to make you it's going to ask you to die many times. But if you if you have any interest in, you know, a love letter to the entire genre, Zero Ranger is for you. And I'm glad I fucking cracked it back open and finally got around to streaming it. Got to go back in. I got I got to unlock more because I know that everyone has been that's been
Starting point is 02:28:01 telling me about it just says, dude, it just keeps going. It goes and it goes and it goes and it goes and it never calms down and it never stops. And each time I went back to the intro sequence, each time I restarted the game after dying at a new level, I got a new intro. Like the game has a new complete intro for you. OK, um, in some cases, you get to interact with it and like answer questions that it's asking you, you know, it's just it's so it's so unique.
Starting point is 02:28:34 Just so it's got an interesting color palette, green and green and orange, which is literally part of the game. Green Orange is an aspect of the game. Yeah. Oh, cool. So, yeah, add to current purchase for myself. That's it's it's big, interesting, fun and just prepare to die, prepare to die a lot. Yeah, I assume I'm shit at schmups, so I might take a couple of continues to get through it.
Starting point is 02:29:03 Yeah, so and that's that's pretty much it, you know, beyond that continuing with SMC five and not much to say until I guess I get all the way through it. And Dark Souls, as well as Dokapon, continue on the channel. We are going to also probably come around next week since, you know, we happen to pick a hell of a week for my birthday because my just whatever life happens to be that way. Oh, good, good pick. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:29:33 For your birthday. Good, good pick. You did. So we got to catch up. And so we got to do a fighting game stream and we got to get some time in with happy chaos. We got to get some time in with Luke and all that's going to come back around next time. So yeah, should be fun. And I also I'm going to look for excuses to just do some fun things on the channel. You know, if I can get back to some zero ranger at some point, that'd be really cool. Shout outs to everyone who played some Tetris 99 as well.
Starting point is 02:29:58 We had a really fun time doing that. That game is just Tetris is just fucking perfect. It's just perfect. There's nothing else to it. And, you know, I like Tetris, but I think I like how much you like Tetris. I like Tetris fair enough. It's great. It's so much fun. I don't know. Like listening to you talk about Tetris,
Starting point is 02:30:23 I always think of why don't I like Tetris? Dude, like they got it right like 30 years ago and we've just been enjoying how right they got it for my entire life. That's it. It's just they nailed it. And now here it is. And it'll always be good done, you know. And yeah, I also I guess I left a little
Starting point is 02:30:54 a little teaser for everyone at the end of the birthday stream as well, because I just decided on a on a whim what the next LP I think I wanted to crack open was. And it wasn't anything on my list for a long time, but it was something that just occurred to me out of nowhere. So if you caught it, that's cool. 50 years ago, 40 years ago, God damn, Jesus Christ, we I try to underplay the time frame
Starting point is 02:31:20 so that I can feel better about the fact that I am now 36. But I feel like I feel like every couple of weeks, there's like a part where somebody calls something retro. And I'm like, that's not retro. That was only about five and by five, I mean, 25 years ago. Yeah, yeah. If it came out before you could legally drink, that qualifies as retro, right?
Starting point is 02:31:50 Well, the fucking Dreamcast came out in 99. Yeah, I just when it when it when it when it came out before I was born, you know, I kind of just I don't want to say I want to say 30 because it still makes me feel like there's hope, even though there isn't. So like it's it's it's wild because like we are in a very specific time period for that because our primary hobby of electronic choice is a video game because when we were born, the Atari had just come out like a year or two prior, right?
Starting point is 02:32:28 So when we became able to think with brains, the Atari was the old one and the Nintendo was the new one. And we got to be there for nearly all of it. So, of course, everyone's all of it. And then I see people be like my first console as a kid was the Xbox three sixty and I want to put a gun in my mouth. What I want to what I want to ask some of them zoomers about, actually, is like what it's like coming out.
Starting point is 02:33:03 Like we've also been there for the birth of and the entire genesis of the internet to the to the states and now I want to ask I want to know what it's like from a zoomer perspective, like joining the internet midway through. You know, like how much like everything, all kinds of memes, all kinds of jokes all make sense in my brain because I was there from the beginning. So I saw the comedy go from. You saw the meme progress. Exactly. So it there's no lapse of or gaps to like how it feels to me.
Starting point is 02:33:42 There's no lapse in the meme fossil record for you. But for those of you who joined in where the first memes they saw were lulcats, which to me, lulcats are deep in the meme timeline. It's decade. Right. But your first memes were lulcats. Like what what's it like to have infinite amounts of internet behind you that you'll never like know about or really go back to? Geocities was like before you even got online.
Starting point is 02:34:12 You know, I think I think my favorite. I think my story about this is is like perfectly summing it up. Just oh, shit. Excuse me. My cat almost talked to emerging pyelma of like the difference in the era where the first time that I encountered what we now know as to be a meme was when a kid in my class used the. Computer in the grade six classroom to watch a video. And it was the all your base music cut in which it just all the all your
Starting point is 02:34:48 base photo shops with the all your base. And I'm sitting there in grade six going. How did they get the all words all your base on all this stuff? That's crazy. Because I didn't know what Photoshop was because I was literally a child. Right. Right. I I guess I mean for for I would have to assume it's like when I was growing up, I would always hear about
Starting point is 02:35:18 bands I didn't know that were legendary and films I had never seen that were, you know, staples of the genre or staples of the time of modern film making. And I was always like, yeah, I get the references to these things because they they're constant, you know, and like most things like the Simpsons are going to reference these bands and the Simpsons are going to make jokes about these movies that I've never seen. But I guess I'm going to understand the idea of what they were about at some point or whatever.
Starting point is 02:35:51 And then I it was right when I was in college where I basically went, all right, I've decided I'm now going to start looking back and finding out for myself. And I went to that video store that used to be down by the Faux Berg that's not there anymore. It was one of the got killed for being English. No, I think it just like the whole thing moved down a lot. But a movie land was this.
Starting point is 02:36:17 There's this movie store that was like kind of indie that was around. And anyway, they just had a lot of classics. And I just got on this kick of like, I'm going to go rent old ass movies and watch them to find out what the big deal was. And there's some good old ass movies. I sure fucking got some. Did you know that people were able to make good things before it was wild, right?
Starting point is 02:36:42 I couldn't believe it. But that was, you know, my first Kurosawa stuff, my first checking out like fucking like things I'd never, ever get to for any reason. You're Casablanca's and you're fucking raging bull or a bunch of Jim Jarmusch movies. You know, all the weird stuff Bill Murray was up to. You know, like I just I just went down this kick of like, yeah, let me just go watch old movies that I'd never watched.
Starting point is 02:37:12 You know, it's it's what's with Rosebud. And this. Well, what's with Oh, yeah, it's funny that you mentioned this because like I'm on the other end of the the the old shit. And like I had a bizarre moment like a like a a a Bernstein bear moment in my own mind in which I was talking to I had just become a Vera in 14 and I was saying in a silly voice like, I'm going to kiss every boy.
Starting point is 02:37:47 I'm like, haha, where do I remember that from? Oh, that somebody must have used to say that to me back when because that's a funny thing. And then a friend of mine was like, dude, that's that's strong bad. You're thinking a teen girl squad. Oh, and I'm like and I'm like, I am fucking thinking a teen girl squad. Yeah, I am. But that was like.
Starting point is 02:38:13 That was like 26 years ago. Flat. It's been so long ago that I remember the joke and the tone. But not the source itself. It was so nebulous that it's become like, oh, someone must have said that to me, I guess. Mm hmm. So I guess I just like I spent some time renting like about three movies a week of just old shit to just find out what I was what I was missing out on.
Starting point is 02:38:42 And I have to wonder if like, do you do that with the Internet? Do you go back to like archive?org and start just like looking through the past worthless because like, no, the Internet is like wrestling. It's made for whoever jumps on at the time they jump on. Yeah, you're going to go back and find out what the start of the storyline is. There was no start of the storyline. Right. But if it were me and I saw the Space Jam website for the first time and I didn't get the joke, I would be really confused
Starting point is 02:39:15 and want to know what the joke is. Right. Why is this website like this? Joke is the joke is people don't know how to make one. Yeah, like they literally just put up the Chrono Cross like a cross promotion with the mobile game website. And it's made to look like a two thousands website with a guest book and little gifts and everything. And it's fun. It's cute. It's a fun little old website.
Starting point is 02:39:37 But if I was born in a time frame where that joke made no sense to me, I would feel like I'd have to go back and start figuring it out at some point. I'd just be like, OK, enough of this. What am I missing here, you know, to which you can spend just as much time as you have been going forward in the present going backwards to the past to figure out where memes came from. The old blood. It's thick. It involves installing flash.
Starting point is 02:40:05 People used to laugh at this stuff. Stick figures, they're fighting. They're fighting. It's crazy. Before devil may cry, there was Xiao Xiao three. Yeah, specifically three. Three was the best one goes through the whole fucking warehouse and he switches weapons and he does quick style switches, too. It's great.
Starting point is 02:40:33 I had I had a I thought I was having a brain aneurysm the other day when a friend of mine was streaming a game he was playing in Discord. I'm like, what's this? And he's like, oh, it just came out. It's an early access or whatever. And I load it up and it's a madness combat game. Madness combat. I'll show you a photo and you'll go, oh, that thing madness combat.
Starting point is 02:41:04 Here, here's fucking madness combat for you. Madness combat one. Watch three seconds. You'll remember. Madness combat. OK. Combat one. No, I didn't.
Starting point is 02:41:23 I didn't watch this. Oh, you dodged this one. That was super popular. I didn't see this. I didn't see this at all. That was highly new ground. So just the new grounds beat them up. Yeah, this is from like 2000.
Starting point is 02:41:34 OK. Yeah. That was that. That's anyway, all that to say that joining the game midstream. You know, joining it, joining it, joining the movie in the middle of its run. I'd want at some point, just stop and go back to figure it out. But anyway, that was a huge tangent off of what we're what was I talking about? Oh, yeah, memes, memes. Yes. So anyway, as soon as we get a gap in the schedule, I I've decided that I'm
Starting point is 02:42:12 going to go fucking left field on this shit. And the next LP I'm going to play is Final Fantasy six, because I've never played it. Yeah, that's happening. Never. Hey, Paige. Well, he's going to play FF six, because he never done played it. Yeah. Yeah, you're going to have a good time.
Starting point is 02:42:40 I hear it's it's as good as Chrono Trigger in a lot of ways. They get compared a lot. So let's find out. It's the that's that's that's the argument. Yeah. And it's the argument that I have a side on and I don't care. I don't care. I like, yeah, maybe they're so good.
Starting point is 02:43:02 We'll find out. It's the best one. We will find out. I was just like, yeah, fuck it. Let's let's let's learn. Let's learn. Are we all in agreement that out of Final Fantasy six is the best one? I feel like that's like a genuine general opinion.
Starting point is 02:43:19 Like it's. It's pretty good, at least. And I'm also looking forward to seeing where the osmosis stuff will catch up in context. Because I have a couple of images in my head. Obviously, yeah, that that you're like, oh, it's from seven or 12 or no, it's from this. Yeah, I have I have I have the the Kafka clown shit through osmosis. I have a girl riding on top of a black walker mech in the in the snow.
Starting point is 02:43:54 No, no, no. And then I think. I had some character names, but I forget what they were. Anyway, whatever, it doesn't matter. Well, it's well, that's great, dude. Once once you get through six, then the only way for you to go is to hop on 14. That's that's the number. It's the it's the it's the seven remake.
Starting point is 02:44:14 That's twenty six. Yeah, fourteen. Yeah, there you go. That's the trilogy. It's like one, two, three right there. Yeah, so. You're playing just just for my own personal clarity sake. What what is your actual played not played on that?
Starting point is 02:44:33 Final Fantasy for yeah, for the main I played one for about an hour. Yeah, I think that's a pretty common experience. You didn't play two because it's trash. OK, so one for an hour. Seven. Eight. Yeah, well, eight. Part of like not the whole thing.
Starting point is 02:45:01 Right, not the whole thing. Yeah, um, but not nine. Ten. Not eleven. I know you played ten. I see. Yeah, um. Not twelve. OK, that this, this, this, this, this is the answer.
Starting point is 02:45:23 OK, so yeah, six is six is real good. Can't go wrong. And then 15 up to pre. Pre big city. Yeah, OK. Yeah. That that six is a good. I hear six.
Starting point is 02:45:46 Six is where like. Oh, I put this six is where like the the series's identity became like locked in stone. Mm, like all the things that people think of when they think of Final Fantasy are present in that one in large quantities. The American misnaming thing like American three. Oh, it's it's shit. And the mystic quest is not any of those, right? No, Mr. Quest is actually.
Starting point is 02:46:21 Mana games. OK. OK, completely different thing. OK, completely different. They just named Final Fantasy. So American four, five, six or rather American one, two, three were actually four, five and six. No. Because that would be not confusing, right?
Starting point is 02:46:42 All right. One is one. No problem. OK, they skipped two. They skipped three. Four is American two. OK. They skipped five and then they got six, which they named American three.
Starting point is 02:47:03 OK, all right. That's what it was. And then seven came out and friends of mine in elementary school thought the reason why it was called FF seven was Square saying that it was so much better than Final Fantasy three that we just skipped. That's hilarious. That's really good, which is a really cool idea. That's a really cool idea.
Starting point is 02:47:29 Yeah. Yeah. The three sixty. It's that much bigger and that much better like the Bayonetta trailer comes out and it's just been at a five. Yep. Yep. Man.
Starting point is 02:47:43 Also, the bummer to me is that five is my favorite. I love five and I played it like 15 years after it came out because it never came out in English until relatively, right? Oh, like that logic makes so much sense when you're on an elementary school yard. Yeah. No, they skipped the number because it's that much better because that's what it is. You go up if you see and that was combined with FF seven in the magazine. It was nearly exclusively photos of the CG cut scene.
Starting point is 02:48:20 Of course. So you were looking at your friends, Super Nintendo with FF six on it and then going. Yeah. Yeah. Like it was just absolutely mind. No, the commercial for FF seven, which blew everyone away was a lie because it was all just 100 percent FMV. Big lie, but huge lie.
Starting point is 02:48:44 It did its job, you know. And then fortunately, the game was good enough that people didn't mind the lie afterwards. They just knew that we had to show you the lie to get you here. And when you get here, it's not going to look anywhere near as good 90 percent of the time, but it's good enough that you'll you'll care. But we're not going to show you a bunch of text boxes and goofy squats on she be characters to get you to buy the game. So.
Starting point is 02:49:12 Which is weird, because nowadays that is exactly what that's that is that it's that it. Yeah. You go, we're bringing back the Popeye freaks and everybody else. Well, now you're playing off of nostalgia as opposed to creating new expectation, right? So yeah, there you go. So that's over on Wally versus come hang out. We're going to have a good time, Twitch and has YouTube. Oh, sorry.
Starting point is 02:49:39 Sorry about that. That's twitch.tv slash Wally versus and YouTube.com slash Wally versus indeed. Indeed. Yes, this week, my streams are going to be all over the place. I don't have a set schedule for most of them because they're going to be dependent upon me waking up, walking over to the computer and managing the log in, right? So any of the Final Fantasy 14 streams, which will continue until Ed Walker is done story content wise, I'm aiming for one or two in the afternoon.
Starting point is 02:50:08 Right. But who knows, uh, with the exception of Wednesday, which will not have a Final Fantasy 14 stream, instead, there will be a Halo infinite stream and that will probably be in the evening as normal, but I have not figured out the time yet. Okay. Oh, and that's over. Twitch.tv slash Pat stairs. By the way, is any version of it on the anthology good to go?
Starting point is 02:50:32 Uh, should I just, should I just literally grab a SNES cartridge? The question of which one to get has become, has always been a kind of nightmare up until like, literally last week. Okay. So you said it was, you know, you said it was last week that you decided this or so. Yeah. Um, FF, oh, the Final Fantasy six pixel remaster is not out yet. Oh, I was about to say, Oh yeah, you can do that in a second.
Starting point is 02:51:13 There's a remaster that's about to drop. Yeah. Five came out a couple of weeks ago. Okay. And it's not the shitty Chrono trigger PC version, mobilization version. Yeah. No, um, if you're going to play FF six in the near future, you would want the GBA with the music patch GBA, of course, of course, the answer was not going to be
Starting point is 02:51:35 straightforward. So you can either advance with the music patch was nowhere near what I was expecting. Holy shit. Oh my God. Okay. Uh, or you could wait for the remaster to drop. A month ish tops for the FF six pixel remaster, which has all the, all the, all the pixel ones they've done have, uh, completely re-recorded music.
Starting point is 02:52:07 That's all like super incredible. Okay. Yeah. We got, we got time. That's fine. I think I'll just do that. Yeah. Just wait for that.
Starting point is 02:52:14 That's going to be way easier. I just, every time I throw the question like this out, you know, oh, it's always bulls that comes back. Okay. I feel like I'm going to pay half life. So what should I, oh God, it's why the pixel remasters, like when originally people were like, very, like, oh, this looks like shit. Right.
Starting point is 02:52:35 And then like they came out and was like, actually the sprites do look nice. They've redone a lot of the backgrounds look nicer. And the music is a plus, like redone. The only thing is that it's a font that's people don't like the font. Uh, so there's, it's like a two second, like just change the fucking font down. But these will be the, these will be the, the, the versions of the classics to play. That's, that's, that's great. That's great.
Starting point is 02:52:59 I mean, yeah. I'm, I'm, uh, I'm sure there's a comprehensive video on YouTube side by siding it, there is, you know, yes, but, uh, yeah, there are many, there are many good, good, good. That's good. All right. We're going to take a quick break, I assume, before we hit sponsors and news. Okay.
Starting point is 02:53:18 Uh, I'm going to, uh, pee and then take the dog out and he's going to pee and we're all going to pee. Take five everybody. Hey, we're back. Uh, right. Sponsors this week. Castle super beast. Gosh, I love the sponsors.
Starting point is 02:53:36 Oh man. This week, uh, podcast is brought to you by door dash because some of you are out there trying to figure out what to eat. And I don't know about you, but looking outside right now, fuck that. I just took the dog outside, dude, and it is a slush and like frozen ankle deep frozen water, wet nightmare. There has never been a better time to absolutely refuse the outside world and let door dash help you out by getting you what you want to eat from the place
Starting point is 02:54:20 you want to eat it in a fairly quick manner, safely dropped off at your door because braving the elements depending on where you live is not even a question. Um, even if it's fine outside and you're just like, eh, but it's far. They can help you out with that. You got yourself a, uh, a massive list of partners to choose from over 300,000 different partners, restaurants, local go-tos, your favorites on the list. Most likely the mom and pops you want to support all of the choices, uh, because a lot of places are not able to deal, um, with as much foot traffic these days.
Starting point is 02:55:08 So yeah, along comes the something like door dash to help you get what you want. I just saw my favorite, uh, some of my favorite, uh, places that were like kind of, you know, there's a couple of restaurants that have really good food, but, you know, they're like, they're not going to necessarily do takeout because they're a little bougie-ish, like what they're, what they're, you know, like they want you to come in and have the ambiance and the experience. I saw that they're available. They're now doing, they're now on the door dash.
Starting point is 02:55:37 They're now, uh, uh, available because they're like, yeah, guys, you know what, it's better that we can get someone to eat our food than asking you to come outside, exactly. Someone's better than no one and it really sucks outside right now. So, um, I'm, I am happy to see new choices available. Uh, when I refresh that list and I take a look at it. So, uh, whatever you're looking for, whatever time of day or night you can get in and enjoy for a limited time, our listeners can get 25% off and zero
Starting point is 02:56:12 delivery fees on their first order of $15 or more. When you download the door dash app and you enter the code castle 2021, that's 25% off up to a $10 value and zero delivery fees on your first order. When you download the door dash app and the app store and enter the code castle, two, zero, two, one, don't forget code castle, two, zero, two, one for 25% off your first order with door dash subject to change terms apply. Thank you, DoorDash. Thanks, DoorDash.
Starting point is 02:56:46 This week, the podcast is also sponsored by a way who as we have discussed in the past are out there thinking about luggage and I know some of you have dragged a suitcase through an airport or maybe to a train station with the wheels all up and you're holding everybody back and every time you go over a sidewalk, click it, it's like a, it wrestles out of your control. Maybe you even like cramped up your shoulder at one point and it might have like been there, you know, and then you're trying to, I've been there and then you get to like God forbid you get to a sidewalk and you're like, Oh no, I hope
Starting point is 02:57:36 I don't like rail this off into traffic and spill and then it hits a fucking truck and now my underwear is all over Fifth Avenue. It's terrible. Kind of escalation there at the end there, but I get what you're saying. The point is that bad luggage sucks and bad luggage can give you a bad trip and it can mean a bad time for everybody. And, you know, maybe you thought you did your best to pack stuff in to travel and carry it on and be, you know, ready to put it over in the overhead, but then on
Starting point is 02:58:11 your way back, you bought some stuff and you're like, Oh no, what do I do? Or I have too much clothes or laundry or whatever. Well, it happens the away suitcases are considering all of these things and they're solving those problems. I mean, yes, I can go on and on and on about how amazing the battery is that you can plug a USB wire into you. You love that battery. So I can just wax poetic about the battery and how lovely it is to have a
Starting point is 02:58:38 full charge for all of your devices if you need it on your bag, whatever you read, you're ready to go. But more than that, you got the laundry bag to separate and compress and keep things tidy. You've got a dividing a space saver. You've got high quality wheels. You got a TSA approved lock. You've got the, just the right build, the sturdiness, durability, and I've been
Starting point is 02:59:05 rocking my away suitcase and been very happy with it across many, many trips. And I'll tell you, like once you, once you get one, you don't have to think about the pain, you know, the suitcase I had right before that one was one of those kinds that the wheel busted on me and fell apart mid trip. And I was dragging a three-wheeled suitcase through the airport, rushing to my gate, horrible, horrible experiences that you don't need to deal with. Get in on the full range of all things travel, explore away and start your hundred day trial today by going to away travel.com slash beast.
Starting point is 02:59:45 That's away travel.com slash beast. And yeah, you can even give the gift of good ass travel. Whatever's on everybody's mind. You got, we're in the season. So think about it. I want, I would like to get away from this bullshit outside. It's not good. It's not good.
Starting point is 03:00:05 It's pretty, pretty, pretty bad weather out there. And I'll tell you what, at bare minimum, you, even when they're not traveling, even when you're inside, you're still giving somebody the gift of a cool battery they can use to walk around the house and keep your phone or gadgets charged. And that is super useful. Thanks away. Thank you away. Last but not least, the podcast is also sponsored this week by green chef who are
Starting point is 03:00:38 in the business of helping you eat healthier. If you're thinking about getting yourself, you know, into, into some stuff that'll, that'll get your body feeling better. I mean, I always used to be, you know, concerned about like, okay, I'm trying to lose weight, I'm trying to, you know, control portions and figure out what the best way to eat healthy is, but the stuff that I never really considered is energy levels and how much what you eat is going to affect how you feel the next morning or how you feel a couple hours after you finished the meal.
Starting point is 03:01:15 That's huge. That matters now. A couple of years ago, it didn't, my body just said, changed my batteries and I'm good to go, but getting, I'm getting to a point in life where it makes a huge difference in how much energy I have. So getting a, getting some, some good healthy eats is important. So if you want to, why not consider it green chef who can help you make cooking easy, spending less time on stressing about what to buy, what decisions, uh, by
Starting point is 03:01:48 giving you some delicious home cooked meals, pre-made, pre-packaged, pre-measured, all the dressings and spices and, uh, various curated flavors you'll need. And you can save time on figuring out how to eat right by, uh, tapping into the tons of recipes they have available for you each week. Uh, they give you 35 nutritious, flavorful options to choose each week. And they're always updating with the season. They're always updating with, uh, whatever's happening, uh, for, you know, unique, uh, options.
Starting point is 03:02:26 If you want to go, uh, vegetarian, if you want to go fast and fit, Mediterranean, gluten free, if you're, uh, being calorie conscious, plant-based, carb conscious, whatever, uh, balanced kinds of dishes you are looking for. They've got options for every kind of picky and fussy eater. And the meal kit, as we mentioned, it helps you get it done and feel accomplished while you're at it. And when you make your meal like a big boy, you can say, yay, I did it. So if you want to say, yay, I did it, I'm a big boy and get your big boy
Starting point is 03:03:05 pats on your head. I'm Pat and I'm a pats on the head. This was what I mean to say. I did it. Then go to greenchef.com slash superbeast10 and use code superbeast10 to get 10 free meals, including free shipping. That's greenchef.com slash superbeast10 and use code superbeast10 to get 10 free meals, including free shipping.
Starting point is 03:03:35 That's greenchef number one meal kit for eating. Well, check them out. Thanks, greenchef. Thank you, greenchef. You're a big boy. I'm a big boy. I'm a big man. Yeah, so a couple of things.
Starting point is 03:03:55 Oh, and I guess I have to figure out the logistics of, like, I don't know whether or not my channel will get nuked if I do this. But we, like I mentioned it last week, we're considering looking at the game awards. Reggie brought it up and wanted to fuck that is this week now that now it is this week and it, oh, you want to look at it. And I was like, ah, I guess we can we can see. So, um, yeah, that might be going down Thursday.
Starting point is 03:04:33 And I hope that they don't annihilate us for, uh, uploading it after the fact, even though I feel like it's going to be completely unavoidable. But who knows, that's going down. And, uh, yeah, everybody tune in for the Chrono Cross reveal. That's absolutely positively 100% going to happen. I mean, that's quite the call out, but if it were to happen somewhere, it would be there running at the stands. Babe Ruth.
Starting point is 03:05:10 All right. Uh, what's going on this week? Couple things. How about this? Virtua Fighter cross Yakuza. Shut up. Shut up. I hate this and I hate you.
Starting point is 03:05:28 I'm shoot the fucking messenger. Why don't you? I will. I'll do it. All right. Well, uh, Virtua Fighter, the healthy Sega game franchise. He's stupid. Known for its inclusion in the Yakuza games as an arcade machine has now
Starting point is 03:05:51 gotten a crossover promotion with Yakuza, which has costumes for everybody to dress up as their favorite Virtua Fighters, uh, rather for your Virtua Fighters to dress up as their favorite Yakuza characters. And it's coming to the whole game that has bad netcode. So please look forward to it and isn't, and isn't popular because it has bad netcode, but 20 costumes and, and, and, and music, uh, selection choices, as well as customization stickers and stamps all coming from the Yakuza series. And we get to see Akira, um, doing his best, uh, uh, you know, uh,
Starting point is 03:06:36 Kiryu impression as well as, I can't tell who Ichiban is. Um, I will, I think it's Brad Ichiban is Brad. Okay. Jeffrey is a dachi. Uh, Wolf is Saizuma. That's perfect. That makes perfect sense. Uh, looks like Leon is going to be, uh,
Starting point is 03:06:58 Majima, what? Oh, cause snake, snake style. Kiryu, Kiryu is Akira. Go is the shittiest looking Ryuji I've ever seen. Just terrible, just awful. Who else we got? Who the fuck is Kage? Wait, is Kage the fucking hermit that sells you items?
Starting point is 03:07:25 Oh, they're already scraping the bottle on this one. Laws d'arte, fucking Jean is Nishiki. Al Blaze has a tie. That's cool. I like that. He has a suit. He has a brown suit and tie. I like one.
Starting point is 03:07:41 Oh, lay, lay being, uh, I like luchadors and suits. That's an aesthetic that I always got to say. Blaze wearing a suit and tie narrows it down like really poorly. It's brown and the tie is yellow. No. No. Okay. That could be, that could be anyone.
Starting point is 03:08:07 Well, cause it's that it's not just, oh, it's, it's mean a, he's mean a. I mean, this is the entire franchise, right? It has like all the games as to reference, so there, there's a lot, um, I'm, is Sarah also Majima because she has an eye patch tattoos and his blonde. Okay. Well, in any case, um, yeah, this is happening. And you know what this actually tells me more than anything that God is dead and no one cares if there is a hell.
Starting point is 03:08:55 I'll see you there. Yeah. Um, this collaboration is why you're not getting cure you in Tekken. That's so stupid because Sega is pretty sure they have their own thing and why would we go be in Tekken when we've got our own thing? You know, that's so stupid. Yeah. Straight up, like you, you're, Kiryu is a perfect fit for Tekken.
Starting point is 03:09:33 We all know it, but Sega has their own 3D fighting franchise that could be considered a rival of Tekken if it were alive. So why would we go and push for that instead of pushing for our own thing? Because your own thing is like, yep. Like my genuine worry is that someone at Sega is sitting there going. Oh man, we're going to, we're going to do a bunch of numbers on virtual fighter. Now that these costumes are, this is an awesome announcement. This is a really cool thing to do that nobody saw coming.
Starting point is 03:10:26 You know, it, it should buy the DLC for a game that was dead. The game, the day came out. Yeah, like by any stretch of the imagination, this should be something that people would be excited for if not for the fact that the deep, deep, like inner soul botch, that is the inability to play this game with other people properly makes everything worthless. Like, do you want to know what would be a legitimately better announcement is if, if they announced these costumes for the version of virtual inside of the next
Starting point is 03:11:09 Yakuza game? Yes. Would have been a better announcement. Shit. Because I'll be playing more of that for the mini games than I will the real one. Just make a little like Yakuza fighter machine and you go play it. And like it's, it's all the costumes inside instead of this. Yeah, totally, totally.
Starting point is 03:11:36 It's painful because like they're, they're still interested and they're still trying to do that. And, and, you know, it just, oh, oh, hold on. I just saw the reference to Sarah Bryant. It's Gouromy. Okay. I see who Gouromy is. Really? Apparently so.
Starting point is 03:12:05 Sarah's costume is just Gouromy. It's just Majima in drag. So it seems. And I'm looking at a picture of Majima as Gouromy right now. And I'm, I'm, I gotta say, like where I left off, Majima is a dead serious, really interesting character. Oh yeah. I have dissonance on a level you can't possibly imagine.
Starting point is 03:12:32 The, the, the, the people who played all the games and like why is Majima so serious was like kind of a shock. And that's the reason why he acts like that in that game for, you know, thematic purposes. But like the people played zero first and then looking over at like construction Joker, you can't understand the level of dissonance I'm going through with every one of these pictures and screenshots and moments and like memes of him popping up out of fucking nowhere and just clowning around. And it's like this dead serious, really cool, interesting dude that that's
Starting point is 03:13:09 already where I'm at, you know? Yeah. Well, anyway, um, you can go check out the costumes and you can see them guys. They'll be coming out tomorrow. Cool. That was a lie. It's not cool. You know, it is cool.
Starting point is 03:13:38 Rollback netcode coming to blaze blue and cross tag battle because Arxis kind of maybe gets it. It turns out that Arxis kind of gets it. CEO 2021 was this weekend and they just announced updates to central fiction and cross tag battle for full rollback play. The netcode public test begins tomorrow and fuck. Yeah, it's going to be fully ready to go in 2022 PS4 and steam. For those of you who are listening to the audio version at home, upon Willie's recent read of the news story, I tossed my keyboard across. Keyboard was tossed and and put my face in my hands and got real pouty. I am like massively critically hit by the combination of, Hey, remember virtual fighter?
Starting point is 03:14:50 Arxis is going back to old games and giving them rollback netcode. This is the most important part of this announcement. Okay, by far, no question because we saw it with faxel, but it was smaller scale. So it didn't really take people didn't really pay that much attention. This is the most recent game to get a fucking update that switches it over to rollback netplay. It used to be something heavily focused on the older KOFs, the older guilty gears, and it was and the idea being generally that it's easier to implement rollback into older games because you're implementing it on an emulator level, right? What code mystics is doing with KOF is implementing rollback on the emulation level. Whereas these modern games are you're not working on on that level you're working on like with within the game code directly itself.
Starting point is 03:15:57 This is, of course, you see the changes with Street Fighter, they try to update it, we see changes with tech and they try to update it. But this is part of why the struggle is happening with a lot of modern games. BlazBlue is pretty fucking recent, Cross Tag Battle is pretty fucking recent, they just went back and did it, it's absolutely possible. And, and this to me is also a decent indicator if Arxis is fucking doing what they do, that Dragon Ball might be next or Sam's show might be on the fucking plate. It has to be Dragon Ball. Because those games need it more than anything else. It is awesome that BlazBlue and Cross Tag Battle are coming back with rollback, but Dragon Ball and fucking Samurai Showdown are dying. Those games need it hard.
Starting point is 03:16:50 I really hope SNK can take note with a modern implementation in KOF 15 and code mystics with their help on the older games and start looking at that down the line. For what they currently have, because fucking Sam's show is abandoned otherwise. But Dragon Ball, dear god, that has to be on the fucking plate for this. This is great news. A modern game getting an implementation of rollback is great news. Because now we don't have to play the game of, it's too hard, we can't, we're not gonna. Here it is. It's, it's so important.
Starting point is 03:17:33 The Dragon Ball gets the goddamn- It is. Fucking- Like of any game ever, ever. Dragon, god damn it, Dragon Ball. Then, once that's all done, we can wish upon a twinkling star and then maybe just maybe a port of persona will happen and they'll fucking spiff it up and dust it off. Oh, now you're just, now you're just on- I am.
Starting point is 03:18:02 Dude, that's, come on, that's- I'm on methadone because this is happening. Two games announced, recent, with rollback coming in a matter of months, literally in January. That's two modern games that they're updating. I'm on methadone. You know, we are coming, we are coming back to reality. It might be a little bit copium to be, to hope that, that persona might get something, but like, if they're working back through the log, you know, at the very least Dragon Ball, which is recent content stuff, big money for them, and everyone knows the game is fucking struggling without it, and then we can look at whatever else ArcSys touches. DNFDual, probably, hope so, Grandblue, maybe, hope so, they went back and did Blazblue.
Starting point is 03:19:01 This is great news. It's great news. If anything, here's what I'll say, right, if the copium is too much, if it's too intense, then that's fine. A little intense right now. That's fine, that's okay. If they touch anything beyond this, Dragon Ball, Grandblue, you know, or we go all the way to fucking Dreamland of Persona or whatever, anything else that gets it at this point is just like amazing news. The fact that they're willing to, and actively pursuing this, is super exciting. I would really like it if they did Dragon Ball, if they did Dragon Ball, that game gets to be like an infinity game, because anytime anyone complains about Marvel or whatever, it's like Dragon Ball, look at that one, it's right there, I don't know about you, but I like Goku a whole lot more than Iron Man, or Ryu.
Starting point is 03:20:05 And I wonder, for that matter, I am curious about the development cycle of like Grandblue and like who made more of the decision, whether that was PsyGames over ArcSys on how things turned out, but I mean shit man, like they went back and grabbed two of their games and did this, like let's fucking go, you know? Come on guys, it's time to do it. But hey, it's available now, alongside those Yakuza costumes, all available now. It is apparently, I think you son of a bitch. Other stuff got announced. Yeah. Yeah. Don't mind if I say, I could use-
Starting point is 03:21:07 I've taken like hard damage off this discussion. That's okay, here, let's heal up a little bit. Bykin is coming to Strive. Oh, let's heal up, bless up. Didn't we already know that? Isn't the leak, the first leak that came out just dead on? Bykin's coming to Strive. And with that, I would like to seed the floor here to Yohosi, who had the Tweet of the Night,
Starting point is 03:21:46 in my opinion. She says, Video game trivia. Bykin's outfit did not change or adapt much from Exord's aesthetics to Strive. This is an excellent visual metaphor introduced by the devs, as Bykin players have never adapted in their life. Yeah. Killed it.
Starting point is 03:22:30 That's pretty great. Done. Over. That's pretty great. Over. Got him. Oh, yeah. Sheet.
Starting point is 03:22:44 That's pretty great. Done and done. Done and done. That's- What the fuck? Oh, no, we got a- We got a- We got a fucking news article out here, science article,
Starting point is 03:22:59 that is going to change society. Okay. Well, hold on. I'm in the middle of talking about Bykin. So that's going to have to wait. Society couldn't change. Blame the beasts for a minute. We're talking about Bykin.
Starting point is 03:23:19 All right. Ironically enough, this story is about blaming the beasts. Lovely. We will continue later. That's fine. Um, I am expecting- I mean, her design is identical. It literally looks like it hasn't changed much at all.
Starting point is 03:23:36 It's not a rip, but it is like the same design. It really is the same design brought forward. And that's fine. That's okay. We'll see what little things, little small things will happen. It is, I will say this, it's the least amount of glow-up in the strive sense of the entire cast. Everyone has gotten a huge overhaul.
Starting point is 03:23:57 And she's just fucking sticking to the old way. So that's fine. I still- I don't like her new design. I still don't like it at all. I'm fine with it. I'm totally fine with it. But, um, the-
Starting point is 03:24:12 I preferred it back when she looked like a homeless person instead of a big, titty, disabled- I agree, but my only thing is when you overdo the bunny ears on the hair. Just don't overdo the bunny ear stuff. Which, it seems like they've calmed it down both with her and with that man who had big old ears that in- God, why did he even have those carriers?
Starting point is 03:24:37 I don't know. I think Daisuke just likes that aesthetic because he brought it back in a couple places. You know, there's a couple characters that just have ears. But anyway, whereas in Izuna's case, it's all over the place, it's fine. But with Baiken, like you look at Izuna, who is also wearing a Baiken-like robe,
Starting point is 03:24:59 and you kind of see some of the design cues that he just likes the look of someone wearing a Japanese style kimono and with the- or yeah, kimono and has the rabbit ear look. Like, it's just a thing with the sword and a lot of the same feelings going on with that stuff. Anyway, that's all fine and dandy. Move list, we'll see what happens,
Starting point is 03:25:24 whether or not we're going to get back Alpha counters or the Izami style play, we'll see. I guarantee, though I'm putting my money heavily, that she's just going to do the Izami stuff, which is the Paris dancing version, the new version of her. But we have no gameplay to look at so far. It's just a teaser of her existence.
Starting point is 03:25:47 And she has an interesting line. It seems like she is referencing Delilah, who was someone that shows up, kind of like Happy Chaos showed up for two seconds of the story in Exord. Delilah shows up as a pair of feet at the end of the Exord story. For anyone that hasn't watched the
Starting point is 03:26:14 Heaven or Hell Guilty Gear lore videos and caught up on what's going on. Delilah is Bedman's sister. And right as he dies, she shows up. And we don't get a good look at her, we just see that her feet have the same tattoo that he has. So Bedgirl should be arriving, hopefully. Bedgirl the foot, the foot woman.
Starting point is 03:26:40 At some point. And for some reason, she's either friends with or being protected by Bikin. And that would make sense, seeing as Bikin no longer has a purpose. Her entire revenge quest and everything she was out for, no longer has a place to direct that energy. Since, you know, you go watch that spoiler,
Starting point is 03:27:15 a spoiler, go watch that story mode. And yeah, that big revenge quest doesn't really have anywhere to go now. I know exactly why they're friends. I can tell you that right now. It's a spoiler though. Okay. It's because Bikin saw this girl who had two feet
Starting point is 03:27:36 and she felt a kinship because she has two feet. The only thing she has two of, of her limbs. And she was like, you have two feet also. Let's be friends. She got two titties. That's not a limb, Wally. She got two. What the fuck is up with Bikin and people?
Starting point is 03:28:04 What the, wait, you're all fucking freaks. You all sound like fucking psychos. Fucking psychos. Shit. No, it's funny because no matter what version of this character, no matter how she transforms over the years, or whatever she turns into or morphs into, I'm down with aggro samurai girl.
Starting point is 03:28:32 I just like that energy and that's what I'm about. So when she was just a Kenshin, like off color, dirty and practically not even in the main roster, I'm down for that. And as she became more and more of the incarnation of protecting the Japanese colonies and such, I'm like, that's fine too. She continues to be fucking badass.
Starting point is 03:29:01 And her intro and outro and all of her fucking super cool traditional style fucking. Yeah, the whole aesthetic is rad. I'm down for whichever direction we go with this character. I really do want to see what the gameplay changes are going to be, though, to adapt to Strive. Because that full kit, if left intact, it might be like one of the best in the game
Starting point is 03:29:37 if she can do everything that she used to be able to do. If she has all of those options in neutral that she used to have off of the run and off of the block, it's going to be fucking crazy. And I imagine as well like whatever version of Yozan Sen we get with the new system and the ability to instantly drift forward and get conversions off of it and stuff, she can be really good with an instant overhead into RC,
Starting point is 03:30:12 into crazy wall combos and wall carry shit. So I look forward to what we're going to get, which apparently January next year we're going to see more. So yay. Yay for Bikin. And yes, if you are amongst those who just like the idea of Bikin, but don't actually play her slash like don't care about the, like what's the meme where you're a Bikin player
Starting point is 03:30:41 and then you pull the mask off, and it's literally just a picture of titties and some fucking Juergens, like Juergens motion and total hours played to. If you're one of those people, I encourage you to break out of the pattern and actually spend time and learn to play the fucking character. It's, it's, it's yeah, it's cool.
Starting point is 03:31:10 Will I give up the Naggo ghost? I don't think I will, but I don't know. I'll just have to main both and then make a decision on, on which I enjoy more. But at the moment, goddamn, I love Naggariyuki. And I don't know if I'd be down to, I don't know if I'd want to hard switch back, you know, when Blanka came out, I was deep down to Nakali train.
Starting point is 03:31:37 So I didn't quite ever go all the way back over to Street Fighter 5 Blanka. I just got some basics down with him, but I still felt more comfortable with Nakali because of the time played. You know, so we will just have to see. Is Baiken just going to, just for every game that comes out forever now, just going to be the people will buy her. So she'll never hit the base roster ever again.
Starting point is 03:32:02 No buy, no, no, my, no buy. She's the new, no, my, no buy. Yeah, I kind of feel like that's the case. But not like she's the opposite. She'll never be in the base roster. Right. Because this is like two games in a row that she's been DLC. It has been.
Starting point is 03:32:16 Yeah. And then she's DLC and samurai showdown. So clearly the popularity means something. Yeah. Yeah. It's like, because they know that Baiken fans have turned into degenerates. They have. They used to be cool back in XX.
Starting point is 03:32:31 See, but I also feel like Dizzy is somewhat in that category too. Like, oh boy is she anyone who ranks high on the character popularity poll is going to be sold to you in a DLC pack. That's, that's absolutely the move that we're going to be seeing. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Um, so, oh yeah. And like we get to also see whatever her new Angie interactions are going to be.
Starting point is 03:32:58 Since they're in the fur, they're in the same game for the first time since Pucket Accent Core. Right. Cool. That got announced as well. Good for buy. Good for ArcSys. Yeah, they're having a good week.
Starting point is 03:33:17 They came out at the end of CEO and they fucking, they dropped some bombs. Good shit. The fun, the live reaction video is always fun because you can watch the Baiken trailer or you can watch the stream version where you can hear someone losing their fucking mind in the audience. Yeah, you want that one. You want that one. Thank you for the cookie, darling.
Starting point is 03:33:42 Just completely losing. And then at the end it cuts to some dude on the floor, you know. So, yeah, please, please, please watch that one. What else is going on? We've got them killing it. Hey, hold on. Oh, yes, the breaking news. This is going to screw up society, I'm sure.
Starting point is 03:34:04 New studies put taking Viagra will reduce your risk of dementia and Alzheimer's by up to 70%. What? Wait, wait, what? Oh, sorry, sorry. It will cut it to 69%. Reduce. Here's a New York Post article that details the study. Taking Viagra cuts the risk of Alzheimer's by up to 69%.
Starting point is 03:34:44 Yeah, people in the US that were, they analyzed data and the people were taking Viagra had a much lower chance of being diagnosed with Alzheimer's over the next six years. Hey, yo, hey, everybody, it's time to pork up. This is great for a lot of old couples. It's also great for old dudes who are embarrassed that they are taking Viagra. Who can now say, dude, my doctor prescribed it to me as an anti-dimension medication. I have a family history. My dick works.
Starting point is 03:35:25 I'll show you my dick. I'll show you. Now, hurry the fuck up with that prescription. I'm trying to pork up. For my mind. Dementia sucks, man. It's very rough. 69% is a massive number.
Starting point is 03:35:45 If they said 15%, it would have been, holy shit. It would still be like a legit history. Wow, that would be incredible. Like, is this like what, like, is this real? Like, is it super? Like, so what, what may in fact be the case is that what it turns out is that older couple, older gentlemen that are still regularly engaging in sex in their elder years have like more vibrant personal relationships, which is the real thing that helps dimension.
Starting point is 03:36:20 So as somebody who's read these papers and can see the kind of bullshit that they go for, um, uh, you need to do a bunch of tests to find out if it's just the pill. So the part of this that sucks is you're going to have to give a bunch of old losers Viagra and see if it turns it around and like you're alone. You have no wife. You're pathetic. Okay. Your kids hate you.
Starting point is 03:36:48 Good. Here's a boner pill that you will now take for 10 years and we will tell you if you don't go crazy or if it's the fact that you're a fucking loser. Okay. Because I just, I like, I see this headline, but I know that this is not the first time horny science has reared its ugly head. And if this is in fact what it seems to be, that's incredible. If so, but horny science is out there.
Starting point is 03:37:17 And I remember hearing about, uh, some wild shit where there's like, oh yeah, no, there's a study that was like, uh, it proves that, you know, semen is great for the skin and has all kinds of wonderful, yeah. It also, it also has a mood elevating effect. So in women, particularly and vaginal secretions have pacifying effects on men if absorbed through a mucus membrane. That's the craziest. So horny science is real.
Starting point is 03:37:52 The craziest thing I ever learned in one of my psychology classes was that vaginal secretions if like you get enough of it and just put it in a dude makes them extremely suggestible. Okay. Like bordering on hypnotism. Wow. Okay. Now you have to, you have to put like a hundred to a thousand times more than you would get during sex, but it is absolutely a pacifying suggestibility like chemical.
Starting point is 03:38:30 So both ways then. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. If you're not in your wife, she'll be in a good mood and you'll do what she says. So yeah, horny science has been real for a minute and that's why I'm like, hold on a minute. Is this, is this more horny science? What are we doing here?
Starting point is 03:38:51 That's crazy. That's crazy. Wow. All right. All right. Pork up. For your mental health, for your mental health. It's for your mental health.
Starting point is 03:39:08 Just walking around the old folks home. Pork the fuck up and you know, you've heard about those old folks homes. I am aware that old folks homes are absolutely like a total sex nightmare. Like they're the worst place in the world. They don't stop. It's out of control. Well, yeah. You have a, you, you, because, you know, say you're in your sixties to eighties, right?
Starting point is 03:39:33 You, you, you're, you're using drugs for everything. So sex becomes an on or off button for you. And people in old folks homes are well aware of their impending doom. So they don't give a shit. Nope. Chlamydia is out of control in old folks homes because the symptoms will take so long to kick in that they'll die first. They don't give a shit.
Starting point is 03:39:57 The STD number spike when you look at it. Yeah. It, it, all of that, all of that. So it's like, uh, old people also very stressed of becoming like hardcore drugs. Addicts like heroin users because do tell them to stop and they're like, what's going to happen? Will I get addicted? I'm 85.
Starting point is 03:40:19 Oh, oh, D. Oh no. Like that. Like, damn. Yeah. That's big as if viaducts, as if viaducts, as if viaducts. Viagra as a pill was not already making enough money. You know, it's a heart medication. On the market.
Starting point is 03:40:46 It's a blood pressure medication. Yes. That's what it was invented for. The, the side effect that's good is a side effect. It was unintended. That's not the original use they intended. And then they went, oh shit. Yeah.
Starting point is 03:41:01 The original story for Viagra is a blood pressure medication and in critical trials, every single man that came to them or like 99% of men in the clinical trial said, as soon as I fucking take this pill, I have a rock up dick for like three hours. It's crazy. And immediately the science is like, oh, we're going to be rich. Yeah. And then they were. If we've managed to stop your dementia for over 48 hours, call us up and tell us how sick it was.
Starting point is 03:41:45 Yeah. Well, I don't have the dementia, but my dick hurts. Zanky, come here. He's throwing a tantrum on the stairs and I can't, he's staring at the wall, angry. I will check what's wrong. Find a new news thing. Well, I asked my stupid dog what his problem is.
Starting point is 03:42:10 That's cool. I'll take the time to just tell, it's a really small story. This one will take maybe a minute to cover tops, but we might as well just cover it and let's give this story the amount of attention that Respawn gave it a note about Titanfall. We're shutting it down. All right, Titanfall one shutting down. It's over March 1st.
Starting point is 03:42:35 That's it. Bye. All right. You know what the saddest part of all of this is? This is near simultaneous to the recent battlefield launch being so disastrous that they're putting Vince Zempella in charge of dice. I mean, what I don't understand is like, what's the point of even coming out with this announcement when hackers have
Starting point is 03:43:01 fucked this shit up for years on end and you didn't acknowledge any of that? We want to excuse to kill all the servers. And we can easily do that because, I mean, we're not selling it anymore. Like granted, the game has no single player option and needs servers to work, but like they just there's this thing about like, oh, you know, when we first released it seven years ago and da da da da da. So we're saying goodbye to it. And it's like, you've already said goodbye to it when you abandoned it to the hackers.
Starting point is 03:43:42 Like why this is just like it's an official acknowledgement of something that's already been dead. The moment you said you weren't going to like fix the fucking the problem. You know. Anyway, so there we go. But my my the the only like my hope is that they just turn battlefield into Titanfall. Because that's as good as it's going to get. No, I want Titanfall specifically because as cool and as great as you it feels to like
Starting point is 03:44:16 add those features and that movement and stuff like Titanfall to specifically got it as well on like a lower level and BT is awesome. And the concept of dropping Titans and fighting in midair in those ways is like it's it's it's killing out that that battlefield has actually done some of that in the past, but 2142 back in the aughts. There is totally precedent. You could totally make battlefield six and then have the subtitle be Titanfall and just have it just be Titanfall, but 64 v 64.
Starting point is 03:44:54 And how many battlefield players will hate that? Less than the amount that hate what they're going through right now. Ain't nobody happy with what's going through right now. I mean, at least Apex is a spinoff of the of the Titanfall world. But it's obviously stuck in. It's like they can't do anything too drastic gameplay wise to to to integrate that stuff. I I just did. Did I did I talk to you at any point over the past week about battlefield 2042's disastrous
Starting point is 03:45:28 everything? Uh, I don't think I did. That was on podcast. Nope. So let me let me explain to you just how bad battlefield 2042 is right now. They put out a hot fix this week that broke the use of the mouse. What? They put out a hot fix this week that broke the ability for your mouse to move left or right.
Starting point is 03:45:58 It could only move up or down. Wait, was what was happening with it before? It was a regular mouse. I mean, like, was there other stuff that about the game that was like, oh, yeah, all sorts of shit. But they put out the hot fix and people loaded it up on their PC and went, my fucking mouse doesn't work. What the fuck? I mean, if you said the keyboard didn't work, I would be able to say, haha, now you must all join woolly configurations to play the game.
Starting point is 03:46:36 But it's the opposite. You can't do anything then. I love I love bugs like that because that type of hot fix the end discovery of bug is like, oh, you didn't boot it once. Did you? Yeah, no, at all. You didn't you didn't look in a single time. You didn't look.
Starting point is 03:46:56 Yeah, nothing. Forget QA. Forget QA. I mean, like the person who put the fix in compiled it and then just sent it out straight up ship it. What can you do if you can't like, is that just like no playing the like plug in a pad? Yes. Yeah, that's it. Plug in a pad.
Starting point is 03:47:20 Oh, oh yeah. Okay. Well, okay. Good job, battlefields. Good job Titanfall. Good job. Everything's going great on the EA side of things. Well, in the meantime, apparently Spartacus is the name of PlayStation's upcoming
Starting point is 03:47:53 subscription service that will be three tier. One of them allowing access to the library of classic PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP games. Now remember suddenly this announcement is not there to distract you from the Sony Vice President getting caught inappropriately with a 15 year old boy has nothing to do with it. Not a single thing. Not that one. No, sir. I mean, for what it's worth, the first that story was me hearing about the light speed
Starting point is 03:48:35 with which he was fired. Yeah, to be to be fair. So like there was no dancing or board of Bob Coddick directors or any, you know what I mean? There was no like the the announcement of the story was this guy's gone and here's the reason why is he gone? Oh, oh, that's a good reason. Bye bye. He was caught while wearing a PS5 shirt.
Starting point is 03:49:03 He was sure was. He sure was. And it sounded like it was one of those. Sounded like it was one of those like like Chris Hansen YouTube style channels that was like doing it on their own because there's a whole range of like dudes who are doing like catch a predator style indie versions where they're just like meeting up with with weirdos and fucking creeps and, you know, doing it like indie street style. So yeah, yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 03:49:34 And the quote everybody says is play has no limits. And it's like, oh, I just I just I just see whoever this dude's boss is is having a meeting and he's like, OK, yeah, more, more, more, more Kratos. That's we've all OK, good. And there's a big Kratos stamp on the piece of paper and they all filed out. And this guy just comes in with the phones like, hey, you got to look at this. And just like looking at the guy who's two offices over in the video and just where's my phone and just like, uh-huh, shaking.
Starting point is 03:50:09 I mean, honestly, it's either that or just you just hold up the peace sign and you just literally fade out of existence. Just deuces like that's it. It's done. It's over by. That's it. Moving on. Don't you want to skip a beat?
Starting point is 03:50:30 Immediately run to your Facebook and start deleting all those pictures of you guys hanging out with the shirts on, let's say best pals forever. Just drag opacity to zero, man. Oh, well, anyway, what we found what we're finding out here is that there's a subscription service coming for all the classic PS one, PS two, PS three games. And suddenly it makes perfect sense why they were in such a fucking hurry to murder your ability to buy these things on their services. Absolutely.
Starting point is 03:51:08 Now are these going to be PS now? Are they going to actually be real fucking downloads or whatever? Uh, what do we have? It didn't mention streaming. It mentioned playing playing. Yeah, depending on the depending on the price, I got to say this is really smart because Nintendo so Xbox is doing really well with their backwards compatibility. And I doubt Sony will be that good at it.
Starting point is 03:51:34 But Nintendo has really lowered the bar for entry. There's pretty much anything Sony could do that we'd be better than what fucking Nintendo's up to. Okay, there's the speculating article mentions that I mean, you're totally right. But yeah, they know they're mentioning that the following the model PlayStation now goes with, which is you can download or stream them. It might just really be both. Cool. So if you want to play something on a console that it's not native Leon in theory,
Starting point is 03:52:13 then you would just stream it or otherwise download it as this includes PS three games, you said it does. If they make it so that I can play all them Metal Gear solids on the PlayStation five, I'll be pretty stoked. We're going to need to see the price point. What's Nintendo once Nintendo set their shit up and horrible for everyone and got thoroughly rejected. I'm curious to see what Sony is going to do.
Starting point is 03:52:56 But at the same time as now that we understand the like the long game here, it is annoying that like they went through this song and dance of like guys were shutting the store down tomorrow and everyone goes fuck off and they're like, okay, okay, okay, okay. We're putting it off by a couple weeks. But they're like bush, totally shutting it down though. And fuck you too bad. And like everyone's like, why? And they're just like, we're just shutting it down.
Starting point is 03:53:25 Don't worry about it. Nothing. And it's like, it's because you're one of you want to fucking sell it back. You just don't worry about it. Just say that and now it's that you're going to fucking because you want to sell it back. Instead of this thing where it's like, you know, because we don't care anymore, whatever, we're not saying anything too bad, deal with it. And then everybody fights with you and then you have a big stupid thing.
Starting point is 03:53:46 And then you go, oh, now we're announcing a new service. And now it's the service before you shut the shit down or you start getting into that, that place, you know, that's never gonna happen. Yeah, well, I guess at that point, it'll never be good because then you can't create a sense of artificial scarcity and or a sense of FOMO where people would just go immediately by all the things they want to buy so that they wouldn't have to subscribe over months indefinitely. FOMO is the way, dude.
Starting point is 03:54:19 It's the only way. So more more more news about that as it comes. But now we now we see what what was happening behind that that little fucking race to shut down your ability to buy anything or even use your fucking. What was it? The PS go PSP go like I really like the PSP go you can't do anything with it. If you're not downloading straight to it because it has no physical media.
Starting point is 03:54:55 Okay. That is happening. And then a couple of just other little things. One solar ash is now out. That is the game made by Heart Machine, aka the creators of Hyper Light Drifter. It's the only game that I'm like being stabbed by not playing right now. It looks like it has the same color scheme and similar energy to Hyper Light Drifter, but you're just it's a big 3D action adventure video ass game.
Starting point is 03:55:33 Like you watch the trailer and it's like you are swinging and jumping and slashing and fighting bosses and flying and just it is a video fucking game. I like those things. Boy, does it really just it looks like an honest, honest ass video ass game. That's all I can say. Love video ass games. Yeah, looks beautiful. Looks great.
Starting point is 03:56:00 Not on Steam. It's on EGS and then PS4, PS5 might you. I want to play that very quickly. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I have to play my Final Fantasy game or I'll die. It's the law. Then this week we also got news that fucking awesome little co-op game it takes to by Joseph, Joseph Addis got hit by take two interactive with a bunch of fucks.
Starting point is 03:56:36 Yeah, it's going around being fucks to the name. So take two has been particularly aggressive with the US Patent Office filings and they've come at a ton of people over the years over usage of things like Rockstar, Social Club, Mafia, Civilization, just, you know, the English language. Don't use it. As it as it were. So they're litigious as fuck and not afraid to just be complete assholes when it comes to this sort of thing.
Starting point is 03:57:10 Stop. The initial reading. Well, I have to to. No, not you. I'm just like take two is like stop it. Yeah, I mean, they've always been shits about this. Like they also are the ones that are like hunting down the fucking GTA mods and reverse engineered projects and shit like that, you know, so.
Starting point is 03:57:33 But what's what it initially was reported as is a situation where Hayes light would have to abandon the trademark and people were basically speculating that it meant that it takes two would have to rename itself. But I saw further details that I can't 100% confirm or accurate, but it was basically saying that like they don't necessarily but like the process of abandoning the trademark does not mean that they have to rename the game. It just means they can't legally defend it or protect it should anything arise from take two pushing into that territory or doing anything right.
Starting point is 03:58:24 That's a bunch of fucking pile of bullshit. Yeah, it's just so stupid. So, you know, obviously lawyers are going to tell them in the long term you want to own your IP. You want to own your trademarks. You want to own your copyrights. Those are all different things, but it's important to be on top of each one. So a rename would be pretty shit at this stage in the game. But at least it's most of its sales have already come.
Starting point is 03:58:48 You know, it wasn't upon launch, which could have severely fucked them up if it was much earlier. So they might rename, but if they choose not to, I get it because yeah, they've already the game is already out. It's been it's it's already it should change the name to fuck take two interactive. They are bitches. That should be the new name. I was thinking more along the lines of divorce and adventure. So, divorce, subtitle, fun for the whole family, you know,
Starting point is 03:59:35 and can we get a clip of Joseph Farris and Farris Farris just both collectively yelling fuck take two. That'd be great. This Thursday. I bet if you could be anywhere within one mile of them right now, that would not be tough. That's what you would hear. Those dudes seem like the kind of guys who when they would deal with this type of bullshit would just be fuming and screaming at nothing in particular for like a week. Papers in the air floating down around them just.
Starting point is 04:00:11 Joseph, are you all right? No, I'm not all right. He's throwing fucking and I'm not mad at you. You know, I was like, but this fucking, you know, lots of papers in the air. That's that's what I see. Uh, right. And then, um, yeah, just a couple little things as well. One, there's a new trailer for a Spider-Man across the Spider-Verse
Starting point is 04:00:34 in which we got to just see a little bit more miles and a little bit more Spoterman and more and more Spoterman's exactly. I hope everybody is ready for Spider-Man alternate reality stories because that's all we're getting for a while now. Eat the fuck up. I'm good with that. Eat up. Spider-Man alternate realities is everywhere.
Starting point is 04:00:57 And we got 2099 fucking showing up. Miguel is rolling in. Yeah. I honestly, I just, I'm just happy to see more miles. And my reaction the whole time is like, just, I'm still kind of residually upset that it took this long for miles to show up because it's just one of those like, everyone will love him. Just, just do it already.
Starting point is 04:01:23 Stop wasting time. Get to him. Everyone will like miles. Make the miles. Do the miles. And it took a fucking long time, but we finally got to a place. You could say we had to walk many miles down this road to go up and up.
Starting point is 04:01:44 Well, I am so embarrassed. We're both welling, wearing yellow today. Yeah, but I'm wearing yellow because of Jet Set Radio. I'm just happy to be wearing yellow. Okay, well, I'm going to change my shirt after this. Maybe if Sony had Morales, they would have made him appear sooner. That's way worse.
Starting point is 04:02:23 Holy shit. Instead of having their fucking kitty diddlers. Yeah, well. See, it was, yeah, there's a thing. And it was about a topic that's always funny. We got a card confirms that if and when the time comes for Daredevil to show up in the MCU, it's going to be Charlie Cox. So yay, I had a dream in which I saw a photo of him in the new Spider-Man in my dream on like Reddit.
Starting point is 04:03:14 Is that why you brought that up the other day? Because it was a dream? I think it's a dream. Wait, was it real? Well, because if I could just announce that like, hey, in the MCU, Charlie Cox will continue to be Daredevil if he ever shows up again. Wait, that wasn't a dream that happened? Oh, my memory is getting shit.
Starting point is 04:03:38 I need to take some Viagra to stop the dementia. It's gotta, gotta, gotta pork up that memory. All right. Well, listen, that's good because he was a good cast. In fact, I would say most of the Netflix Marvel universe was well cast. I would say that they would do well with better writing. Almost all of them, you know, that you can even play a little game. Except for that last one.
Starting point is 04:04:07 Well, you can play a little game of thank you for everything. Not you. Not you, yeah. Not you. Not you. Kung Fu, man. You stay over there. The rest of you are good.
Starting point is 04:04:22 You can come along. You can walk into the light. One gets left behind. Yeah, that's good. Yay for that. Because everybody, I think, agreed. Like, yeah, Punisher was great. Daredevil was great.
Starting point is 04:04:42 Luke Cage, good casting. You know, Jessica Jones, that's fine. Everything works. Hell, I would even say it might be a bit much, but like, Dinofrio as Kingpin was great. And if they needed to integrate that as well, Kingpin into the MCU, I wouldn't mind if they went with that. It's great because Vincent Dinofrio.
Starting point is 04:05:16 Yeah. I mean, that's just the whole, that's the whole. It would be weird because his whole story is tied to that Daredevil world. Nice. I love crime. But at the bare minimum, as a cast, just as the character of the Kingpin, Dinofrio was awesome. I would love to see that.
Starting point is 04:05:41 But, you know. He's like, hey, everyone, I love crime. What's your superpower, Kingpin? Crime. You could always go the route of casting the same character, but just going like, we have our own story for him. And, you know, it's just the same actor, but it's not the same first character, like one to one, right?
Starting point is 04:06:03 We'll see. Anyway. Yeah, that's, that's, that's it. Let's take some letters. Hey, if you want to send in a letter, go ahead and send it. To castle super beast mail at gmail.com. That's castle super beast mail at gmail.com. All right.
Starting point is 04:06:31 So, uh, we got one coming in from, uh, Jacob, who says Daredevil and Pat on the subject of producers. Uh, just wanted to mention something on the topic of last week's podcast. You were talking about how producers can inhibit a project. Uh, they're tied to that's true. Pat said he couldn't think of a time where the producer or studio intervention worked out. I was struggling to think of an example and it turns out that my favorite sitcom,
Starting point is 04:06:54 It's Always Sunny, had this happen when they were creating the show. They originally envisioned it taking place in LA and the gang were going to be actors with a lot of free time on their hands. The show was going to be called jerks. I don't know who said it, but someone from the studio said, pick a different city and it can't be about actors. So then they landed on Philly and they owning a shit and owning a shitty bar. This is way better than what the show started off as, uh, originally,
Starting point is 04:07:21 and the only example I can think of where it turned out for the better. That's a great example. That's way better. That's a great example. That would have been shit ass. Absolutely. Shitty, shitty actors in LA called jerks. Just sounds like a show I don't want to watch, even if it was as funny.
Starting point is 04:07:41 Sure does sound like a show that I don't want to watch. So It's Always Sunny saved. That's pretty good. We saved it. Us. Similar note to this right now. Michael says with last week's discussion of producers and editors, um, I thought of the Toshima, uh, I thought of Toshima,
Starting point is 04:08:09 who was the editor of Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball, his great success and near failure tied to him. Uh, Toriyama and Toshima were working on Dr. Slump. Toriyama flat out said that the original idea was for the titular Dr. Slump to be the main character and he had to be convinced by Toshima that it was a way better idea to make Arale the main character. Toriyama thought that the lead in a gag manga, uh, to focus on between a super, the super robot that can do anything
Starting point is 04:08:42 but likes plague with poop on a stick, uh, and a fail inventor. He initially picked inventor. Toriyama stated that in interviews, it was the correct call and then he went on to help Toriyama with early Dragon Ball. Um, at the same time, uh, Oda and Toshima had a different thing going on, so Toshima hated One Piece and Luffy and pretty much said that it was never going to be successful. In fact, he shut down Oda no less than three times.
Starting point is 04:09:14 One Piece was on the shortlist of not even running in the magazine. It was so bad that Oda's actual editor at the time recounted that he had recurring dreams trying to kill Toshima by trying to choke him. Uh, he manages, what? Oda's editor manages to convince the board to let One Piece get its run. Toshima threw his hands up and went fine, most likely pissed by all the back and forth. Oda then told Toshima, when One Piece is successful, you better say I was right. And at a New Year's Eve party that year, he demanded his payment.
Starting point is 04:09:51 So perfect duality helped make Toriyama, but almost ended Oda. Interesting. I like that he, he cashed in on that. Interesting. I feel like that creative genius that you see in people is also the stubbornness that can destroy projects that- I'm a genius, my ideas are better. And sometimes you're right, and sometimes you're crazy.
Starting point is 04:10:19 Yep. But we'll never know until we get there. For sure, for sure. I mean, Hayao Miyazaki looks like an insufferable old man. Dear God, would I not want to have lunch at a conversation with him? Like, you know, but I'd love to watch him in his element, just fucking hating life and everything around it. Like, I'd love to observe it from a distance, but it seems like awful.
Starting point is 04:11:02 And yeah, everyone's got stories about, you know, you look at exactly, you got your George Lucas, he creates four, five, six, he creates one, two, three. So- Well, the George Lucas thing was George Lucas and a talented team of professionals working together created four, five, six. And then George Lucas made one, two, three. And then a talented team of working professionals with no plan made seven, eight, nine. Fair enough.
Starting point is 04:11:40 We got one coming in from Vaughn who says, Dear Ebony and Ivory, cast recently, I got to thinking about my favorite soundtracks and I realized how many of my favorite songs from a game come from the Aughts era Sonic games, despite their dubious quality in pretty much every other aspect. Even games like Sonic and the Black Knight, which look and play like Zero Budget Shovel, where they're packed to the brim with absolute beggars. So what are some- I think this is true, yes.
Starting point is 04:12:11 Mediocre to outright trash games that get carried hard by a soundtrack that they don't deserve. Blaze Blue! The music in Blaze Blue is pretty good, but Blaze Blue is fine. It's just, I said what I said. No, no, Blaze Blue is fine. It plays fine. And the thing with Blaze Blue is for me, it's art style. It's all art style, you know.
Starting point is 04:12:40 And the plot cues that come from that art style. That art style informs a certain type of character archetype and such. I got some, but I wouldn't say it's necessarily dog shit games saved by the soundtrack, but I'd say games where the soundtrack is way better than the game and where things are better than the sum of its parts. We already said it last time, but literally Jet Set Radio. Jet Set Radio has a better soundtrack than it has a game. Easily.
Starting point is 04:13:16 No question. I would say The World Ends With You has a better soundtrack than it has a game. And this one, I have one where I'm not sure, but I feel like what I've heard of Ragnarok Online 2 has been unbelievable Yoko Kano goodness. And I've never heard anyone else talk about Ragnarok Online 2 for any real like gameplay reasons. So I don't know where that game went or what happened to it. I didn't even know it existed until right now. It had unbelievable music is all I can tell you about it.
Starting point is 04:14:05 Um, yeah, I think that's, I think that's, that's that. All right, Willie, what are you doing again this week again? Fighting off Tuewi people. Oh, that should be easy. Yeah, hey, hey, think of it as a this. It's not that the gameplay is as bad as your brain is telling you. It's that the music is that amazing. That's all.
Starting point is 04:14:38 It's all good. We're doing um Dark Souls. We're doing Dokapon. We're probably going to check out the game awards. And then we're going to play some happy chaos and Luke. That sounds great, man. Come hang out over at twitch.tv slash Pat stairs out. We're going to be playing shit ton of Final Fantasy 14 and some Halo this week.
Starting point is 04:15:00 Uh, do the bell icon or whatever the fuck twitch does or check my Twitter for when I'm going to go live because it's dependent on logins. And if you're listening to this live on Monday, December 6th, I'm going to be playing Final Fantasy 14 in like five minutes to the point where I'm starting my stream now. Oh, Jesus Christ. All right, there you go. I'm going to idle on the BR back. And if Willie forgets to raid me with this podcast group,
Starting point is 04:15:28 I'm going to be super sad. Find out next week if I'm sad. Okay, everybody.
