numbers and said that's the total amount to be split by top eight right because you'll see sometimes they'll be like here's like you know 500k or something crazy and then it'll are less than that usually much less but and then it'll be split across the entire top eight this is one million to the winner and one

point two million to be split first second through seventh place that is seventh place is walking home with a new car walking home with what would be the wins of a major in any other circumstances right it's like huh should I should I grind to get number one at Grandblue or should I hope to just get

seven through five yeah Street Fighter six so you know why all this noise about millions now well if you well for one thing again a life-changing amount of money probably you know post-tax you'll see what that those numbers turn into but still is that is fucking exciting for people to just be like you're buying the

interest of the highest skilled players when you put that kind of like money out right other genres do this and of course you know anything league or or Dota related or FPS is like you will buy the interest of teams that like will play for the payout regardless of how they feel about the game

the best part about this is the joke about the first suit right so page and I saw that last night I was scrolling through Twitter on on the on the TV right and I went a million dollars and she went a million dollars and I went wow that's that's enough that people who don't give a shit about Street Fighter

gonna jump in like Sonic Fox and then she pulled out her phone and went three minutes ago Sonic Fox a million dollars exactly exactly right like just that's that's the goal right but the other thing is if you're playing proper Capcom fucking chess right here it's real straightforward see who's about to enter

the market fucking project L is riot is about to drop their fighting game they're about to drop all the characters that people know and love and recognize and all that all that is going to be disruptive as fuck and like the the current mantle is held by strife strife is is carrying the FGC right now

and we just said goodbye to Street Fighter 5 last night right so it's gonna be up for grabs and six is looking like a contender but you never know how fucking sick project L might be they it might be like pretty fucking good but then riot will come in and just put riot money on top of that and go well

we're gonna buy your interests right with the prize pools because riot prize pools usually they're used to those kinds of numbers if they go that way Capcom doesn't want their thunder getting stolen so why not head it off at the pass and immediately say no no no no our new game is gonna be hyping

all but we're already gonna put out numbers that are gonna match whatever riot is probably gonna do you know on top of that of course six is big six is gonna be it's gonna be the big impact but they need to like step it to this level before riot gets a chance to so I did some quick digging league of

legends worlds 2002 the 12th annual World Champ ran from September to November prize pool started at 2.23 million however it was topped up from a percentage of in-game sales so like riot runs multi-million dollar tournaments for league yep and they have a really really good I think Dota

has a very similar like idea for cash in where they go hey motherfuckers you want to buy the the fancy championship bullshit you know like like Capcom would have had the the stages like they did yeah they sold the stages and all efforts percentage of this goes straight into the pool mm-hmm and that

makes the pool bigger and bigger and bigger yeah in this case though I mean I imagine project L is gonna come out and still have to prove itself so they might not give it like that starting amount certainly but it's it's it's again it's buying the interest you know um now has a guaranteed foot in the

door of like the games free and you can win things by playing right mom if I get really good at Darius anti-airs I could win a new us a new house you can you can um yeah man that's a fucking crazy exciting thing also um I have to I just saw a little tweet about it I didn't read the full details but this is an

excellent time for Tokido momochi and a number of notable Japanese players to form the players association in Japan which is hopefully a group that will fight back against the garbage Japanese e-sports Jezu sort of clauses and all that stuff for those who don't remember last time I didn't hear about it

basically e-sports was not a thing in Japan for a long time and it was kind of held back by like government rules about like gambling in competition yada yada you can't win prize money unless someone gets to wet their beaks so a private company out of nowhere not a government organization just funneled money together

and said we are going to be the ones who will pay out the players and we will be the ones who determine are what cut we get of every prize that's won and everyone that wants to win money has to register and be a part of us as we're the company that that pays out players it's always been a very interesting

situation where you're like that's weird all these Japanese players are like non-stop traveling to the US for major tournaments like over and over and over and over and over like I don't I hear less about like Japanese players in Japanese tournaments than I do American ones well wonder it's because they can't

win any money at home I mean so that that is certainly a part of it that has become emergent as the the numbers have grown over the years but also it's definitely too about the fact that like Japanese players for a long time just were on another level and it was like free pickings you know every time

someone flew over I mean classic that one of the classic moments is like Fudo who like basically comes along fucking starts dominating and can easily just say I don't even play this game I play virtual fighter you know like like it just kind of looked like North America was free easy money for it's

definitely no money in virtual yeah you know this but it's just like yeah get on a plane come get it come come get a pay out and and and you're good you know so anyways Japan has some bullshit laws that make it hard for players to win money over there competitively and there they they just kind of announced that

there's a player association because Momoshi held out for a long time I remember too because of like like it's a key if you win a tournament but you're not part of this fucking scam group then technically you can't get paid and uh oh what's going to happen with the money you know and he stood on principle for a

while there so I don't know what the outcome is but I hope that this is perfect in time for the the massive announcements like this because you bet that scam companies like jesu are gonna want to steal as much as they can of a big pot price like that you know yeah also shout outs to Momoshi as well on

another level for recently attempting to compete as 11 in Street Fighter 5 who I don't know if you remember but 11 was announced as one of the the newer characters that is essentially everybody it's a random select exactly so there were like a number of like streams or it's like oh get first to 11 with with

11 and whatnot and and yeah I think counterpick this I think he did a 41 win streak with just straight up random select level so crazy anyways um yeah one million dollars finger pinky up to get to get top top placement at six so I so maybe I'm crazy because I don't run tournaments and I don't have a lot of

experience with tournaments but like so the the million the two million or two point two minute whatever it happens to be right that's going to be divided nearly entirely among what the top eight top 10 top 16 it got top eight top eight you know okay I think they should they should keep a million dollars at number

one I think they should shave off a little bit just a little bit from guys two through eight and I think they should in they should expand the bottom small payouts massively okay yeah so you're talking like top 32 payouts for example I say every did you get top 128 here's 50 bucks some events do things like that

I've heard of this before um I don't know that they go as far as 128 but I do know there are events that are dead that do things like top 16 payout or top 32 play out it's a payout and so that's not unheard of rules here's cab fare mm-hmm mm-hmm a lot of the time fair yeah fair but here's your cab back to your

hotel I mean the drowning in pools shouldn't earn a payout I'm gonna put my foot down on that drowning in pools doesn't should not earn a payout but that drowning in pools should earn a pay in are you pay extra for losing you yeah okay okay okay I see yeah so um you know usually when you do top three

payouts you do there's people that break it down like 70 20 10 you know some that's a typical standard if you're going top eight payouts you're probably gonna go 50 20 13 7 3 2 that makes sense yeah yeah so you can expect half a mill to go to second place based on these numbers and then you just scale it

down from there I I I the idea of like top 32 payouts and shit like that is fucking it's that's a super cool idea I'm super down with that it's way more encouraging it's just positive overall top-heavy stacks are like hype for people that are competing in that way but it's also like more community

oriented and friendly if people are just like okay you got in the money you got something you worked fucking hard you know just I feel for the person there's always a cutoff right mm-hmm that let's say 10 or 20 oh yeah yeah we're like one more match you would have walked away with 10 grand but instead you walk away

with your balls right yeah what I think is you they should do the community pool as well right have that running alongside and that though none of that money goes to any of the competitors there the community pool money goes towards the meme fund for the winner of the Kronenberg freak pic story mode tournament

which which should run alongside the main event take your weirdo fucking create a character fighters and make them as busted as possible and jump into a bracket and you get to win the stupid meme bucks get your bison dollars that's what I want um yeah that's that's that's the that's a

big one a million dollars that's a big hope they have so this is gonna be Capcom Cup specifically right yes Capcom Cup 10 how so the seating for Capcom Cup is resultant of other tournaments right other tournament placement for the other tournaments become Capcom CPT qualifiers and then there's usually two or one

last chance qualifier that occurs the week of the final bracket where you can get in at the last second yes there's an open bracket last chance everybody running a capcom seating point qualification eligible tournament as well as capcom themselves running the last chance qualifier are ready for a big

motherfucking influx of people they have been because I so Capcom Cup stepping in to kind of like be its own major final street fighter event for the longest while it's always been evo so when I remember when that happened I was like okay I guess you know other games have done this before let's see

how it goes they've the seat the capcom finals have been week-long events this like it ended yesterday it's been running all week yeah you know they'll do two days of last chance qualifiers and then start the bracket and it'll be ours and it is so much street fighter more than I'm you know gonna follow or

keep up with was this five days this time it was five days of fucking street fire it was crazy ready for so for six to eight next year it's a it's a lot it's more than I than I'd like you know and I say this as you you know I went to a tournament this weekend like I went you know and and yeah these capcom

cup things are they're just there's more street fighter than you could ever want to watch but it's gonna be big it's gonna be big yes this weekend there might be one issue with this the the popular there must at some point there must be some change to the way these tournaments work because you can't have people given

the chance of listen you need to fly down to what is Vegas I mean I mean capcom cup uh it was not LA and I forget what ever right whatever it's fly down America major American city that'll take a day right fight in the tournament for a full calendar week fly back it's like I hope you have like the assumption

can't be unless you're willing to quit your job you cannot fight in this tournament yeah it like there needs to be some kind of time or stipend or or something it's like it's it's it is tricky but I there's not much else way to really do it I guess unless you just run it faster

Evo is kind of miraculous in that the level of organization that goes in makes it so that no matter how the numbers scale up in terms of participation you will still be at top eight on Sunday right no matter what we're gonna start on Friday we're gonna end on Sunday and every time there's

been a maybe we can start on Thursday nope they keep it to a weekend and they just run and expand horizontally as needed you know we need to go do we need to go till tomorrow yes now it definitely has resulted in like yo you might have 8 a.m. pools right this is the trade-off when we have like thousands of people

entering an open bracket but there is a day that the fact that you get it done in a weekend no matter what is fucking sick I love that impressive so I would want to see something like that maintained I don't I don't want to see more days added on to the the pools you know if needed or so but people who are

kind of committing to that life of traveling and or you know participating like you're in a way you're talking to a there's a there's an FGC that is like a local FGC for every city and area and then there's a backpacking FGC you know and they just like yo see you next weekend here or there right you know

this weekend like Lord night is like a top player that's you know been around and comes up to Montreal usually was in town for for the event this weekend as well like backpacking players are just going to make it out one way or the other and at that point they usually have situations set up where it's like

okay and I'm working a job where it might be understandable if time to time I have to go disappear because there's a fucking European stunfest event that I got to go check out that's going to pay out sick money so I'm going to that you know it's it's it's a part of the sacrifice of the life I'm just oh my

brain just I can just imagine somebody being handed a gigantic novelty check on stage and I mean it's still the FGC who knows what you behind the novelty check just it just rips open and the ghost of Marvel rises again yeah I mean God just that moment there was discussion about it as like what are like the most

iconic photos of the FGC and like that one was was highly was talked about because it's like like even no man like mental illness aside there's something really fucking just real like real street about it yeah you're nice at Marvel that ain't bad but see me first to fucking five if you really want to

Super Bowl winners are parading around with their rings and like ten guys just a bird from the stands go you guys are so good right boys could take you so you know what that is that's that's actually old wrestling right like professional wrestling back in the day the kind that like fucking Abe Lincoln

was doing you know where it's like yeah I'm I'm a do a big show match but before that anyone in the crowd that wants some come get it I'll beat you down for real and then we'll go back to our spots and do some k-fabe you know this reminds me somebody mentions pool and darts I have a story from this weekend so I text my

father hey dad just checking want to be sure because mom's birthday is tomorrow right and my dad text back why e s no period nothing just flat right okay that was easy is he like see like upset that like I had to ask but I want to make sure right mm-hmm so I'm streaming later in the day and he texts me again hey sorry

for the short message earlier was busy winning the pool tournament and then I call him afterwards and go I you told me they don't let you play and he goes no I just can't win any money anymore I still go down there they just give the money to the guy in second place they just they just banned him from winning cash

money that's amazing wow okay okay that's the level interesting interesting as he goes down there every week and does the tournament every week and he wins about 50 percent of them and then the other 50 percent it's you know 10 other guys that's fucking they said you can play here but you can't win any more

money that's it we're done we're done paying out yeah yeah that's hilarious because I was just talking about how the hometown heroes in the games that we that we play there's always a moment where they win one too many locals and everyone kind of turns on them right and the person who leave there's you need to

go right town there's a moment where you know it's like oh yo Henry is so sick shoutouts chai rithy right and then at a certain point it's like we just show up every Tuesday and put money in his pocket and that's all we're doing here right what the fuck and then it kind of have a job we're just subsidizing his

income literally and then it just becomes a like okay now we're cheering for second place right and then like it becomes and then like that's where like all the hype goes and when and when like the usual when the usual player wins you kind of everyone just kind of goes ah you know and it's just inverts the

instant the show goes on the road yes yes the moment you are representing your location versus America for example you scream MTL to your to your fucking throat is rat horse yeah hey I think Sonic Fox is fucking great I think they're fucking cool and hilarious if I'm gonna you know waste my life watching

a Mortal Kombat tournament I'm not gonna root for Sonic Fox it's like rooting for the sun to come up in the fucking morning I don't know who the second guy is but maybe maybe at the same time too though like the the landscape has changed because a lot of what I'm describing is the way things used to be nowadays

there's a lot more online warriors that are just coming out of nowhere on their own and like the best in the world like showing up that okay so for example one of the best one of the best Guilty Gear Strive players is test your luck who plays Naggo and yeah really and just happens to be some dude from Montreal

just hanging around coming from online and you know just like you you you're able to get that momentum going and then you can just be like without like you're not coming from the the the local scene necessarily you're just you do your online events you play enough and then you get your experience that way a lot

of the best players recently have been like coming from that and so it kind of creates a more like individualized kind of culture you know so the the the vibes of like Toronto versus Montreal for example from back in the day those are more or less gone it's now it's kind of like are you a fan of this player or

that player or that player individually you know a really great example that actually made its way to me was a unknown gentleman named Zen coming abroad from China to play his first tournament abroad in the last chance qualifier and sweeping everyone all the way through in winners bracket

hmm I mean heard of this guy and no one else has because he's a new guy there's dude so there's always the unknown the unknown god killers that show up the unknown like secret players that like are always a random threat and they become the most hype right gamer be started out as that one fucking random

a add-on player what where did that come from why is it so good yeah yeah you know like there's always that little that little that little story man of course we talked about Pakistan you know but it's super fucking cleaned when you get the complete unknown story yeah ending Walker ed fucking ed players coming out

like like shit just again this weekend I'm thinking about the one of the most popular anime fighters that's still going competitively with the community of courses blaze blue because it's got rollback now and and like a lot of people that have been playing blaze blue like if you've been playing since

calamity trigger 2008 it's still that game just with more shit stacked on top of it and it's still it hasn't been directly replaced by anything yeah nor will I mean so guilty gear team red is is one side and then team blue was the other the director left archsys so I don't know that we're gonna see a proper

like blaze blue sequel but what they've done is develop this game over the course of like fucking yeah 15 years and it's because they just built on it over all these versions people always have a fall back like like imagine if today the competitive game still being played with Street Fighter 4 the latest edition

right you can go back to a decade of memories of matchups and just be like yeah I've been playing this forever I can still enter and play the problem is of course is if you're trying to get into it for the first time so I read she's been playing it for a bit for example you're gonna have to learn 55

fucking matchups and the intricacies of those are so like encyclopedic that they're not impenetrable like unless you want to dedicate your entire like fucking work week to learning every character every matchup every interaction you're just not getting in at this point right good luck but some people do some people

do get get to that point some people are freaks but it can just do it yes but it's hilarious because when a new character gets announced in a game like that or like smash ultimate instead of watching the crowd pop off you watch some of the crowd pop off and and some of the crowd go fuck me not another

matchup I have to learn eighty nine hundred new interactions what do you mean this stupid jubey cat is now playable fuck this I don't want to learn another one is a yo he's bad enough and the character is an uncommon size so none of the bread and butters will work out whatever yeah yeah yeah it's it's crazy when the roster gets like to that route you know

it's interesting because project L has a defecto built-in advantage on this that has been seen in League of Legends and Dota which is infinite matchups like functionally infinite matchups is okay if you didn't have to pay for it hmm right right right right yeah like yeah I can I can spend all the time I

want on this I want because it's it's freed I'm literally the only thing I'm losing is my time and you're a young person boy you're drowning in time yeah I play video games for a living and I somehow don't have enough time to go to the fucking post office yeah and horizontal growth in a free-to-play game

is just like well more more stepping stones for anybody on the outside who's like ooh what's that so that makes sense it still does become nightmarish if you're like living that competitive life though you know if you're trying to stay like sharp you're and you're you're still gonna have to spend all that time

learning everything you can about every piece of information in the game and then you get then you get to where league is apparently at where there are so many interactions that you can't learn all of them before they get patched right right right okay just you just can't there there are too many

interactions to learn I mean I'm already talking about how Street Fighter 6 is gonna have every matchup and then there's gonna be three variations of frame data if you want to start thinking about that because when you're in burnout you got to add plus four and when you're in drive rush you're gonna

add another plus four so what I'm gonna do I'm gonna take all that frame data I'm gonna look at it and my brain is gonna turn it into more safe yes or less safe this is how games actually want you to think about it really like just know that this is a time where it's your turn or my turn that's it that's all they

really want you to think about your turn or my turn I blocked that now it's my turn I blocked that actually it's still your turn that's it the only frame data I need is I cannot reversal SPD no I am gray no you cannot but when I am blue I can reversal SPD this is this is the correct way to go for now yes there will

be it just there's just gonna be that one moment where it's like god damn it what the fuck just happened I don't understand and it was like oh that was a perfect frame trap that was set up to be you were you were plus eight on that and you pressed a button a button and you got hit by something that had a 10 frame

their blood that they don't need the audio cues of the game they don't need any of that shit they just need to stare at it and just feel their way through the whole thing that is absolutely you're just right you're just pressing buttons and you're winning and and and there's no real way around that you know

Montreal air dashers right runs a tournament often called you mad which is ultimate Montreal air dashers that was the last one that ran right I remember now now remember yeah and this is the second one they usually that that they're doing so this is the winter edition of Montreal air dashers so we

right like that it is that's it that's the rap just this is the last round that it will be the big deal I kind of feel sad for it it I don't I don't because if okay to ask five to have launched in the state it's in now would have been impossible but if isn't gonna launch in the state that five is in now

but six is launching in the best state Street Fighter's ever been in yeah this is the best launch version of a game they've ever had here's hoping five if five wasn't fucking sabotaged for that's the word really what do you mean do you mean that metaphorically do you mean that literally what could you be

talking about I mean quite literally if five wasn't fucking knee-capped what what do you what do you mean and and sent out to fucking be executed in a field it could have launched in a state that was at least like if five launched like championship edition holy fuck that game would have been hype right

holy fuck people would have been so excited about it but the the the season one blues into season two like what is going on like this the trajectory of confusion and unhypening that occurred and then by the point that you know at least for me like you know some of the other characters came around and I'm

like okay what's happening with the Cali fucking nothing cool he's just the most boring character in the entire game sick love that right on a personal level but if that game launched in the state that it kind of got to when hands switched and when the new team took over it would have been a real different

story but it wasn't and that that whole kerfuffle in the middle about like we fix the online no stop don't fix it was like just a whole like another blemish that thing didn't need it it unfortunately just it kills a lot it kills the hype it kills the excitement there's a bit of it to where at optimal play it is kind

of a solved game it feels like you know when you watch rounds of it play out there is a correct way to play the mate the top tier characters and the way that's going to play out is going to be using the meter in the exact same method each time so it's it's in a solved state which is also not super exciting for

for just a spectator six is adding enough that there's variability that's going to keep it really fucking die yeah I just like I just said three sets of frame data but this is a like for me the fact that the only reason why five is like if you're feeling like oh farewell it's kind of sad it's like no but the

only reason why you're feeling good about where five is that is because of the guys heading up six it's just excitement for what's to come because that fucking crew it did such a good job they lifted that game up out of its fucking shambles and ended it in a state where people are like ah yeah

street fighter five ain't so bad that's alright no that final version of the game was pretty cool that was a miracle and those guys are now heading up the new direction that is the way to look at it it's crazy like a lot of people aren't aware dude Street Fighter 6 has been in development for so long

it has been in development for so much longer than you would expect and it seems like it's paying dividends I'm just thinking Capcom so when Street Fighter 6 is is done and dusted and we've gone through championship edition and and you know super and you know all that and it's time to make a new Street

Fighter I suggest that they start making Street Fighter 8 because they should just not make odd numbered Street Fighter games anymore I see I see so we just skip the numbers entirely just just just don't but what about three what about three well there was three then there was three two and then

there was three three I don't know if your rule really works there skipped three and gone to three two and three three and called it four but three three is now double this completely falls apart I was trying to follow along but it completely and utterly falls apart I'm saying the new generation is really

bad yeah that's that's fine I'd rather play that than one I think everyone would rather play that than one um I can't believe like most of the people listening to this have not played Street Fighter one go go figure out how to track down and play Street Fighter 1 and marvel in fucking awe don't even

ever got to a sequel at all don't even try to like win a round just try to do a hood ok just touch it attempt to do one fireball yeah us astonishing um indeed but yeah fun tournament good stuff um always always a chill vibe with the with the anime crew there they're there like I said the

anime the anime boys are a little less thuggery you know a little more inviting and that's why I think they're thriving a little bit better as a community it's well I mean they're well rested because they bring their pillows everywhere well I mean at this point grumpy at this point a lot of

those a lot of those anime pillow kids you're describing have gone on to just work like fucking high paying tech jobs and they're now actually coming off of their like big salary fucking work taking a weekend to come play some anime games to go right back into that world because they're getting that fucking

nerdy little lives at the office so they can pull something like that something like that uh yeah no no no it was it was cool um other notable thing for me this week was I spent some time with Wild Hearts sponsored time of course hell yeah sponsored time I contacted that gentleman

you referred me to and he was like too late loser and I'm like ah better let next time but um I will say this I enjoyed it enough that after sponsored time I went back and kept playing so I had some fun with that now note of course that through sheer luck I decided to just grab the

PS5 edition not the PC port I think first of all I want to congratulate you and now the the streaming nonsense that you're dealing with with the times makes a lot more sense because sure enough there you were on the Wild Hearts steam page that was yeah now that thing though is the the all I all I can tell is that

the PC port is falling ass over balls and it seems to be because of an audio setting that is forcing the game to run on a single core I have done more research on this because what me not being sponsored I went through the process of like I really like to mess with Monster Hunter clones I think it's

I think it's a really cool fascinating thing but I saw people talking about the PC version right I wanted to know like well what's what's going on so it's not that the audio is making it run on a single core it's that the game itself runs on a single core and that by switching from regular audio to

surround sound audio you're offloading your audio processing onto a different part of your computer probably the graphics card which is freeing up CPU cycles to use for everything else okay it is also not the best on the consoles because I was hanging out on that Wild Hearts subreddit it's one of those games

that will not let you connect online if you have like a certain amount of friends or a certain amount of blocked people on your on your consoles list yeah so I saw that there's that bug as well where like if you have too many blocked people you might have connection issues getting on the servers I had some server disconnects

that were like just random while playing and backing out to main menu and going online didn't fix it I had to do a quit and restart right to get to get back on so then there was also while I was streaming there's a whole area on the mountain that the collision for this tree mountain is just not where the

graphics are for it and the model is just often like there's some weird running on invisible things so like this thing needs some time in the oven to fix up some of those problems there's another bug that happens on the consoles at least I think skill up talked about it also happens on PC but

consoles which otherwise look like mostly fine are encountering it once you get to high rank or the high rank equivalent where you know the areas change a little bit it loads up a slightly different version of the map you know like oh the river is flowing again okay spring instead of winter

um and the game slows down by like by like 40 percent and like the frame rate isn't necessarily dropping but the game is is running in like an ironic slow motion oh all the time what yeah I was watching uh some videos of it where like it is it is just like it at like half speed

does like the updated state not unload all the previous it appears that something to do with the new map is just yeah okay just doubling the resources so so this is this feels like you know I mean so unfortunately I again I dodged most of what we're hearing about uh but it sounds like yeah time in

the oven would be you know the right the right thing because I don't know how koay tecmo games launch usually um but I'm seeing people make reference to the fact that it's not to be unexpected that they're coming out in a state that needs heavy patching right there's a reason why when neo2 came out on pc

they made a really really huge deal that they worked really hard on it because because koay tecmo games on the personal computer don't buy them on the personal computer so don't but does that count as as them like because that's team ninja as opposed to omega force though I would say

do not buy any koay tecmo game on the computer except for maybe neo2 okay because I'm like I'm yeah I'm seeing team ninja and and and omega force as the main like they're that's the difference right you're looking it's muso games versus the the other stuff so um but but all things

to say like uh what worked and what was there was pretty fucking sick man um seems to be everyone that is playing it's like core like upsetness which is like I'm watching the skill up review and he's like this game seems tons of fun it's on fire yeah um so I think and I think with that like you when you play

it and you get like uh when yeah when you're in that when you're in that when you're flowing through it and kind of getting what it's doing there's you can see that what's sick about it and you're like okay this needs to get patched up right because once it does it's gonna be

fucking sick um as it is now you can still have a pretty fun experience with it I know I did on on on the console at the very least PC coming in like mostly negative based on how bad let port is yeah so be it like if you fucking drop money on a game that's not gonna work then that's that's that's shit um but

uh what they what they're going for with like just yeah the way the combat feels and stuff is really fun um yeah right get there okay um so the defaults kind of sword you swing around and stuff kate takes you through like you know the basics of you're gonna swing your skatana do this

do that jump and yadda yadda um but the the gimmick they kind of showed off in all the promotional material and and the stuff that you know I was talking about on stream was the the karakuri right the little construction wooden engineering tools you make on the the fortnight a little bit um and I was

like okay it's a gimmick you know we'll we'll we'll see how that plays out um you really just want to kind of fight and probably need to just be good at that but they implement the gimmick really well like every time you use one it makes the fight more hype in some way like none of them ever felt like oh i

got to go set up a turret over here and then like you know waste some time slowing down the pace of battle every time you use it it speeds up the pace of battle and um and the the whole like yeah fortnight process of building is like being done in a way where it's not this giant tower it's just a couple

things and most it'll be a second or two and it'll either result in you putting up a super fucking gate that blocks a charge or you can climb the gate and do a mounting attack or you can get a speed boost to the left or to the right and do a sick ass boost based thing because your weapons also react to

aerial state or bounce state and and mobility uh amplifying things off of the tools you're dropping um the fact that you're doing that with a group of people as well um yeah i mean again i can and i can't speak for where the like best versions of monster hunter got to but when you're working in with

with a team synergistically i should say uh you're filling roles and doing things and you know there's the guy who's running the great sword that's going to just wait for the right moment to bam and everyone else is doing the other stuff someone's putting the traps down um the cool fights i had in this were

ones where um one player dropped a bunch of bounce pads and um uh walls around and was kind of just you know dealing with the monster and putting traps that exploded around it and then me and a second person with the umbrellas were just in midair dancing and spinning and parrying off of the attacks and coming

back in and landing on the bounce and getting back into the air and just like it was it was wild shit yeah it sounds like it's doing tons of interesting shit that makes it like meaningfully different from monster hunter like it's not a derivative it's like its own thing and it seems really cool

and i'm very interested in it as long as a version of the game is pointed to as like this one isn't broken yep yeah i did hear something funny though that the game's text goes wildly out of its way to never ever say the word monster or hunt in any context kimono hunt is said often hunt hunt is

said often monsters are kimono kimono this is this is what we call them it's not a monster it's a kimono yes and uh you know i mean for what it's worth that didn't necessarily apply to me but in game at the very least like don't well in general don't put these words together don't do that don't do it

but you are going on hunts for kimono all the time and people ask you to go hunt things um all right but um yeah i know so i know the uh the insect glaive well whatever i saw it it was like yeah midair crazy airy like wild spinning and attacking and shit um so i guess that becomes

sort of the a comparison point the thing with um the umbrella that obviously you know no surprise there the parry system on it just fucking felt so good you know and i like the window i like the timing of it um and like on stream i was trying to parry so often that like i just took a bunch of hits

and was like you don't you could have just rolled out of the way of that you could have just rolled out of the way of that you didn't need to deal with that but the rewards you get for landing the parry is your your umbrella heats up and does more damage so every time you're doing one one one one one one one it

becomes ten ten ten ten ten you know um one of the things i'm looking at footage now uh for context and it's like much like almost every other not monster hunter game it's way faster than monster hunter mm like your average like to the point where when i was watching the video of

the guy complaining about it moving and slow motion i was waiting for him to cut to it in slow motion because it looked like the game in slow motion looks like monster hunter interesting yeah okay um even the heavy weapons like i so you go check out the hammer and um so i remember how like great sword and monster

hunter would be like like five second commitments to like some swings or so right um the pacing of like how you time things is actually hard because things are slower than you expect them to be um that's still the case here but there's little things where it's like uh if you use the hammer every time you

slam it down you can do basically um honestly it's it's uh it's a fucking uh um x-act right every time you slam the hammer down you press r2 and then you extend its stat its handle to get more damage and then you can do further combos using those extensions so you're kind of doing a little x-act on every

swing um the final swings you're sometimes doing at some points are like doing lunar phase in the air with a hammer but you're doing you're doing swing immediately into like you know uh r2 it's into swing into r2 into swing into r2 with like really tight timing and it gets pretty fast you know um

the overall i guess um i i can't again speak for the depth of building armor and weapons and stuff and in the you know let's say rise or so but when you look at the fucking skill tree in this thing you pull out and you see a sphere grid for every weapon um a sphere grid yeah i'm gonna i'm gonna weapon upgrade

tree it's a great well it's a weapon upgrade tree but you can go sideways to get one thing keep those properties and keep going down another path as long as you're touching are you like upgrade like you have a umbrella and you're like upgrading your skill with the umbrella and that gets you different

stuff or you up making a new umbrella or you're making a new umbrella like neo style and you're choosing what skills to keep as if you were fusing demons and smt right and then you hear about this game is interesting yeah and so you can stack up the like if you want extra crit and you know extra whatever

specific savage state you know then you keep those skills and you discard the other ones that you could have gotten um and then as you're going down the sphere grid you might see something off to another branch that's like oh but i want that though it's like that's cool just go touch it get that one thing and

then continue down this path and keep that one thing as you uh passed up the the skills on um armor was there's a whole system with that too that i don't fully understand but it seems as if at the very least you can put armor on you have all your pieces and then there's um human aspect and beast aspect so you

can upgrade your regular stuff or you can start leaning towards like more kimono oriented features and then it gives you beast skill points versus like human skill points so you can go more tech or more raw um and that affects the design too so like every piece seems to have like that like five point variation

on it and then you could also just go drop full on glamour over everything so if you wanted like a particular set like there's a ninja outfit that it'll carry the stats of what you're wearing but just drop you in that aesthetic no matter what so glamour is already there um so i'm looking i'm looking at this

apparently the uh they are aware of a quote cpu threading issue and we'll be releasing a patch to fix that this week okay so here's hoping yeah um no a couple of fucking again a little some more time in the oven and i think uh you're gonna i think you're gonna really enjoy uh what's going on here the only thing is of

course is i'm i'm not comparing it fully to anything besides monster hunter world which i know you know i mean that hey woolly monster hunter's fucking monster yeah like the the one the one thing that i will say that is like kind of not tiring or bad but just kind of not very exciting monster hunter is monster hunter

is monster hunter like those games are incremental improvements and a lot of that strength of that series is because it's incremental you can just take all that old shit and drag it forward right one of the complaints i saw for wild hearts is like that the total monster list is like 20

or oh yeah okay okay yeah that i well yeah well they're making brand new shit from they're starting a new system exactly you can't compare it to sunbreak which has like fucking 15 years to like and in some cases drag ps2 models out of retirement um something about it that's really actually uh notable and and cool

is the entire campfire system um which is there are wells of resources that you find and um there are like water trees that are basically like you know estus trees whatever uh and uh these will be located around key environments and such but anytime you go and you find one of these wells you can put a campfire down

wherever you want and that will be a sitting point where you can put your shit together upgrade some stuff or go travel to another you know um um to a city or whatever and then if you want you can spend some more resources and put up a tent and that will become a fast travel point right and then um you

also so all the um karakuri that you're building those are the the the uh the all your fortnights yeah all your fortnights that includes um that includes utility things like the camp and the the tent and so on which are when you look at the full list an extensive basically every room you every place

you would go visit in a monster hunter village can become a thing you drop at a camp so you can create a whole base camp with like there's a blacksmith over here uh here is a training dummy um here is a wind thing to lift me above to see what's going on here is a tower that detects nearby monsters here is a

grappling hook um zipline that i can shoot way across the map yeah i saw people very happy with the zipline stuff you can zipline the whole fucking map as if it were death stranding and okay and as long as you spend your rego collect enough resources you can create quick access to multiple places

and teleporters for the for the stuff that's further away uh you can zipline into a series of like across a valley land on the other side ignore the area in between and then drop onto a bunch of sonic speed boosts to just get to the monster you know and and and you can kind of put it together in such a way

where you're like oh shit when i learn this map and i know where the monsters like to run after each phase i can beat it there with all my tech and just be ready and waiting fully fed fully healed up and just fucking destroy it as it runs up to the location that's it's cool i i really i really

want them to to fix this thing up because if they do in the near future i'll start streaming and i i fucking love monster hunter clones i think they're all really interesting they all try at least something weird i really liked to keyton too as well the the last one that they made

um i just like the the tech yeah fucking yeah it can it can get there it can get there if they're working on it it can get there people in the chat are mentioning not dauntless dauntless is a pile of shit um but yeah i imagine to the uh you know as japan loves the fucking monster hunter uh franchise

the the freedom to kind of like you know do your own version of that with these clones is i mean obviously there's the can we cash in on some of this money because there's a whole lot of people that are down with it but um there's room for other games like that you know i they're all that that

genre is so fucking weird because like it's been though there's the gold standard game you're like all right who's number two and like number two has never crystallized that's so weird there usually is often a thing you know but like there's been no exodus of x capcom monster hunter devs

to make their own monster hunter with blackjack and hookers god eaters fun but yeah god eater is fun but it's not like a like a smash hit or anything like that also doesn't really help when it ends up being a plum

which we call it a vita only release you know um so yeah uh this is this is the one with the fucking it's got the big big ea bucks behind it and it's got the big yula that you have to agree to and the whole no man don't bug me bucks don't

big ea buck says man this should run better it should it should how do let me ask you let's say they got a performance patch out like fucking thursday right and it's like very very market improvement right as somebody who used to work tons in qa how do you feel about games

that like they're like because i'm gonna assume and you can correct me if i'm wrong but if they're able to get a performance patch out next week it had to have been known last week a million was a surprise long before submission

right long before submission yes really these were all these are all things that people testing the release candidate build of the game um saw and bugged and knew about some of them were deprioritized as um fixed ease in a later update some of them were considered not submission

risks there's no chance that this stuff is like oh we just found out about it now because like how do you feel about games that come out and then like a vital update drops within 10 days yeah so it's release well it's simple

it's ea looks at it and says um we can delay this and let the vital drop happen and then um you know take that that take that little bit but it'll come out cleaner and and do better in reviews or whatever or you can send out your early embargoes

you can tell everybody hey um when you're reviewing please note that there'll be a day one patch yadda yadda and you can go uh we don't want you can you can basically look at it and go we don't want our investors to hear to hear that a major release is getting

delayed so we're not budging this no matter what under any circumstances we need this to drop in quarter one 2023 um and there is no version of however long it takes to get it right it's like no no no whatever state it's in it must

come out at this point and if you make it better then you make it better but if it comes out in flops that's what what what the what the what the fuck do they care all right well that's just another flop

right cool looks like we'll we'll be less willing to trust you guys on future projects we'll continue to be the monolith that we are um it it's entirely you can you can bet your ass is a probably a huge amount of discussion

happening with um omega force like going like yo can we fucking get some extra yeah can we get some you know and and you can bet your ass that there's an a-wrap going no you can't

no you can't prepare whatever you can for for the end of february and that's all you're getting you know um day one patches are now they're they used to be like these kind of like

exceptional sort of things now they're absolutely factored into development as well so um there would be agreements between developer and publisher about like what

can be fixed by day one and now the hardware manufacturer is included in that too so you'll actively go and tell sony like okay conditional let us get through this pass as long as we promise this really

really bad one will be in a day one patch right and the only people that are ever going to see this bug are people who are loading up their game on disc ps5 in the woods with no internet okay fine we'll let you release it like

that yeah uh because like it's it's it's a balancing act where like these these hunting games that they come out right and it's like this this early release period isn't actually like super vital

because they all have long tails and they all last right but it's like these are always like God Eater and to Keaton were the same way like the first one is there to put the foot in the door and go

we know we're not gonna beat the monster hunter that you can buy right now but it's cool and it's different and the next one we can focus on just adding more stuff but if that foot doesn't get in the fucking door this is what i'm saying

it like it like if you're talking about like oh yeah okay that game came out it was interesting did some new stuff yeah let's keep an eye on that that's one thing the time it's not vital that it blows monster hunter rise

or sunbreak away with with its fucking you know a debut what it is vital is for the screenshot to not be hey look it's woolly versus on the stream tab on the steam tab

check it out we're playing the game and then immediately under it mostly negative on pc because people are like i can't fucking get past these issues oh yeah no that screenshot's hilarious

you know that like it's that's not helping i want to i want to like raise my hands to the sky and be like yo steam why do you even like good for you for getting on the steam front page

why does steam allow streaming the fucking console versions on the store page i think that's fucking weird i think they just pre i think they just kind of pre um uh approved like company can run

whatever list of streamers during this time block and then they control the feed you know um i think that's how that goes because that also probably explains why

i had to do two two-hour streams as opposed to yeah absolutely a longer one but the second stream i did i ran longer because i really wanted to fucking take out that that that the bore that thing had my number

and i was like i can i feel it so we ran for like an extra to third hour there at which point i assumed they would cut away because you know also running my 10-minute outro

with hentai in it is probably not great for like EA front page purposes but we ran it anyway we ran it anyway so i don't know ran your fucking

disgusting outro on the steam front page you fucking bet i did come buy wild hearts what is that bible black i don't know can't do that

so yeah that's how we roll but all this to say that um i uh no i'm it is what i see of this game is

is is actually fucking sick and i really do i think once you get to that patch or if that patch if it gets you know again within the week

or by next or whatever the case is you guys we're probably gonna like it for sure so i've got a a screenshot i've been trying to get from somebody

this whole time in the audio output method screen um at the bottom in in bright orange it just goes audio output

is not currently functioning correctly like the game seems like it's sub final like it's like it's not the like

you know what i mean like it's not the release candidate got got pushed out the door i mean publishing you know what it is i do

says so right there in the fucking corner of my video like you know what it is man yeah that being said though omega force so besides muso

what what else dynasty warriors muso muso the that's their jam right there yeah

because if neo 2 was better the lessons you would hope would carry over fuck it ran so badly on pc that people modded out all the hair in the game

what the fuck was the game that got ported i was just hearing about a pc port of a game that like is not the original pc port but like a different companies like there was like a place

oh we were talking about that last week that was um fuck and no more hairs right right yeah yeah that type of shit i just um pc ports big being bad is like i know you'd be like for a while

it was like oh nether realm's always going to make a bad pc port they're just not the wbs not paying attention to that shit they don't care and you can kind of see like which companies do and don't and stuff japan also for a long time

in general there was a lot of games that i if i remember just like it was just an afterthought as well and uh yeah like it i think it's a new version of that right now so i think version of that is

unreal engine four in directx 12 does not they just go okay here it is and then they don't do the pre pregame shading compilation and so then you stutter every time you run into something new elden ring did it

and then they fixed it after launch yakuza ishian sorry like a dragon ishian does that on pc there's stutters every time you see a new effect and in cutscenes they could freak out when blood shows up because blood's like an alpha effect

or something um to hold back to unreal engine four games they're just going in directx 12 yeah see i guess it just it comes down to like is this a lead platform

is this in test with all the others simultaneously or is this being handed off to someone else right and if it's being handed off to someone else because you guys don't know anything about it and don't want to

have anything to do with it nice roll man who the fuck are those people yeah you know is it budcat is budcat handling your port is it uh nix's i think it they are

nix's yeah yeah yeah you know you just never fucking know man the stuff that was um usually all right i mean at least based on my test you know time was when it would be like yeah we've got all the xbox

testing going on here playstations over here and pc's right behind and like same people are fixing the same bugs on same platforms at the same time the workflow is united

everything that we're cross checking is happening in tandem and parallel even if the playstation is the lead build like everything is getting mirrored you know

it's just a simultaneous correction process that allows for a lot of that and then obviously you know pc permutations have to be factored in and so on but you don't end up with these like ridiculous glaring

one audio issue turns into a massive like performance thing for the whole game you don't run into shit like that you know but um step one to that is of course creating

a dev environment where pc is present and taken seriously as a platform to begin with yeah it depends so like uh ishin the pc port is otherwise excellent

other than the stutter but they also put out a demo so that people could mess with their systems and it's where the stutter was discovered which is why i'm playing ishin on on the ps5 instead

hmm okay yeah um not much else you know about it but uh the i want to see what the other weapon types are the only ones that uh there's like eight right

uh i the list is i think the list was like 10 i think you get like six right off the bat and then like four question marks um let's take a look here wild hearts weapon and armor because there's uh there's uh

katana no dachi hammer um fan bow and arrow bow katana uh umbrella i'm gonna call it an umbrella it's not called an umbrella wagasa

dachi yeah mall which is a big hammer kurokuri staff so it looks like eight okay yeah so you get so you see five of them off the bat and then like yeah three it's a good start

if they're all have to if they're all gonna be in-depth things that like you know in a monster hunter kind of way you can really branch out on and do a bunch of shit uh yeah and um again the the the stuff where monster hunter

would do a like oh charge blade switch to axe form switch to shield form switch to uh amplified discharge you know um this in this case it's kind of like hit that spring mount that wall

twitch and going why isn't the game popping up oh cuz it's not fucking called that that's yeah yeah um so like a dragon or rgg ishain uh first of all i want to say it has the funniest title i can think of i was informed that the title of the

game is actually ishin uh kawami in japanese so it's a kawami game and as we all know okay so as we all know kawami means extreme what does ishin mean it means renewal so what with this game taking place in 1867 during the meiji restoration this game is called meiji restoration

extreme extreme renewal no it's it's like having like civil war extreme wow featuring all your favorites from like it's it's it's ridiculous okay um yeah so this is a playstation 5 remake of a game that never came out here the battle van titum extreme that came out in between uh yakuza 5

yakuza 0 um and they did not think they would ever release it in the west until they saw ghost of sushi and they were like hey westerners will buy a japanese game that takes place an old time in japan okay i guess we can bring that out here right they sure will and i'm playing it and i'm looking at

it and i'm starting to understand why they were like maybe this is too japanese for a western audience because the game has not translation issues or localization issues but it has the assumption of knowledge issues that i was not aware of oh no so it takes place in uh 1860 1867 and i believe 1868

during the lead up to the meiji restoration which is a very popular historical era in japan kenshin takes place during it gintama takes place during it there's lots and lots of anime and manga shinsen gumi hanging around yeah the shinsen gumi shit right well they have they have cast the actors and

voice actors and face models who played like a dragon characters as famous members of the shinsen gumi right so that's not a majima that's iso the guy with tuberculosis that i remember from samurai showdown oh right yes ukyo yes um for example this creates a very okita oh i can't so i can't so okay

that's okita sure perfect tashibana i can't keep their names straight and i can't keep their names straight for a very specific reason and that's because i have already played the games in which i'm familiar with these actors because majima comes out and i go oh that's majima and the game goes no it's not

that's okita and i go cool and then as soon as the camera pans away they go oh they're talking about okita and then they then they pan back and then i'm like oh majima's back good they have a character name um oh fuck i can't even remember but your sworn brother and it's the final villain

from yakuza zero and i'm like oh cool it's that guy but it's not that guy it's a historical figure that is being named a different guy and i feel like i have dementia so are they doing the thing that they wanted to do with final fantasy the spirits within where they want the same 3d models to be dressed

up in different ways and then that's a full actor and as a different character so when you see majima it's like the 3d model for majima but he's in old school clothing and you're supposed to right and then do they play their character like traits for bits that you should recognize no it's the weirdest

thing they're not playing the historical figures they're just being themselves but now they're named the historical figures and like it feels it feels like the cast of like a dragon all got together to put on a play okay and it's so fucking weird and i can't so here's the issue i know who the people in like

a dragon are i don't know who any of the people that took place in the shinsengumi meiji restoration is okay i exist in a strange weaboo venn diagram in which i love the yakuza games but i'm not enough of a weaboo to know who these characters are right the game is violently confusing you have it like

hmm i can't keep track of it at all um yeah no if you haven't brushed up on your nobu naga um wrong wrong era sure but i just but i mean to say if you haven't brushed up on your nobu naga and you go play a game that is dropping all the mitzuhide references and all these things that are played for not

shock but like you're supposed to kind of know this yeah so i i'm sitting there it's gonna be a fucking wild time and nishiki shows up right uh for your your buddy your brother yes yeah nishiki yeah yeah yeah yeah except he's not nishiki he's some asshole named iso and they he says my name is iso and

it does the buh buh buh like name card and he stands there for a second to be like hey i'm iso and people in my chat are going oh cool nishiki is iso and i'm like i don't know what the fuck this is and my brain just call it keeps calling him nishiki and then i moved to a different conversation and we're talking

about him and i'm like are they talking about the guy that i was just was that that guy or was that well name maybe me so fucking bad go me so fucking bad go go find like a quick like history video that it you can't do that spoils the whole you're gonna spoil you're

gonna spoil the events of history uh that's so weird but i know what you mean i was gonna bring i was gonna bring this there's something yeah i was gonna bring this up afterwards because i was i was going through something recently that's like real history and it's an interesting listen

and like there were i was trying to find a certain place and i was like oh fuck i i like saw some spoilers and was like these are real history spoilers these are just events that occurred there's a there's a great podcast i've been listening to that it was uh covering the history of the Haitian

revolution and it's pretty sick because it's just like hey yo do you want to know about like the the the one country that like had a successful slave uprising there's a whole fucking breakdown of the events um and yeah and there's a lot of steps along the way to how it got to that point

it's yeah it's called revolutions season four and uh it was and like it was really it's a really interesting story and just going through it i'm like like uh uh i i lost my place and i'll try to find an episode or whatever and i saw some names and some things pop up

and i was like oh no wait fuck hold on i don't want to know yet you know there's a yes you don't want to know you want to spoilers for ancient ancient history that is like literally how we got here and how the nation was established like okay dude sure yeah well i mean so

depends on how much of a problem it is i suppose which may only be just me i don't know i i feel like i'm not the only one who is violently confused by the double naming situation um the game's really cool it is fascinating to play like with the

like a dragon game that takes place in like 1860 in japan which is the era of i am a samurai but i'll also shoot you with this gun i found um sorry he just uh i was just sorry no just have you ever seen that nor mcdonald bit

where he's like have you uh you you heard about you're this hitler guy yeah i heard about this uh this is a now i tell you the more i read about this guy the more i don't like him yeah you know i'm just i'm just hey he had some

he has some not great things to say and i just you know and just like oh god it's just like it just goes on and the guy he's talking to was just like yeah well you know he's he's dead so it's like really i didn't even know he was sick it just and it just it's it's the whole

bit of just finding out history uh uh as if it were spoilers is hilarious all right anyways rip norm uh yeah it's fascinating to play through this particular historical era uh especially since like this era is the same as the wild west just on the other side of the planet

um and it has all the the resident goofiness which is like weirdo scientists shooting cannons at you to recreate the baseball minigame uh all that all that stuff uh one of the dlc things that you can get is just play the game is curio like just the model and the model swap

looks goddamn awful and it's hilarious because like he'll be sitting in a boat and he'll be fucking a posing because his fucking regular clothes are a lot puffier uh yeah but it also it's clear that it takes place between five and zero because there are some there are some things in

that system that did not get updated along for the ride like any side quests showing up on the map at all which is a fucking major bummer that sounds awful it it fucking is is there any continuity between the uh uh ishin games or is it just like time period fuckery and no it's just ishin

yeah okay just that one it exists as itself it doesn't matter yeah okay uh seems cool pc version has stutters i can't i don't know who i don't know who some famous historical figures in japan are i'm confused that that's what's going on with that game seems good oh wait i was what's kenzan

completely new characters and weren't based off of any of the existing actors that would make it completely trivial for me to understand it'd be easy what is kenzan then kenzan is an older much older i think it came out after yakuza 3 uh and you're playing as miyamoto misashi okay uh and that game

is never coming out ito period yeah okay okay one it's really old two the characters have been reimagined to be like very very screwed up versions of themselves like majima is like a serial killer i think uh harika is like a gen geisha in training that murders people like that's

that's not coming out okay that's not happening but it's also like just a completely different period and a completely different bit and like now they're just doing another period piece but they just picked a different period yet okay right right right uh i also played uh theater rhythm this week lots

of theater rhythm that'd be final fantasy theater rhythm the uh word i can't spell the most yep i have misspelled it every time i have ever attempted to type it i have get up on typing it correctly i will just wing it uh final bar line uh that is amplitude but final fantasy songs and boy there are a lot of fucking final

fantasy songs in that game it's great and sure your little your little funko pop final fantasy characters fight a boss in the background who gives a shit so you can play a rhythm game and listen to final fantasy three tracks that's it that's the game does it have tracks from uh seven r no dude it has tracks in if i

can remember this correctly in order from one two three four five six seven seven series which is crisis core last order etc advent children seven remake eight nine ten ten two eleven twelve thirteen thirteen two fourteen fifteen record keeper mobius tactics theater rhythm series in general which

includes medleys from the older games romancing saga mystic quest type zero uh exvious um uh fucking chocobo's dungeon with dlc coming for twi more romancing saga near xeno gears chrono cross chrono trigger ff 16 legend amana automata oh there's also desidia i forgot

the city is in there as well so yeah there's a lot strange of paradise yes your paradise crystal chronicles record keeper tactics yeah if if you can name it if you can name a game that is is even tangentially related to final fantasy got it there is a megalomania from live alive is coming to this game

in a couple months jesus like uh somebody in the chat says that fall fancy sixteen is not in the plans for dlc that is not true there are two games in the dlc list that are currently marked as unknown the bull will be releasing this winter sag which is assuredly going to be ff 16 saga in the

second saga pack four different saga frontier manna octopath jesus it's a dude it's fucking ridiculous well i see collapsed expressway i'm good yeah so the the only downside is you'll get to a game and you're like this game this has 10 to 32 tracks from this game in particular

and you'll be going through them you're like well that's that that's an obvious pick yeah that that's a good one yeah gotta have that and then you get to the end and you're like oh there's like three that they're missing like there's there's like none of the song lists are perfect

they're they're all like oh you missed out on that one or all this one or you didn't really need to include 40 versions of the chocobo theme right yeah i see i'm i'm seeing i mean they're god they're doing every genova because you know that's that's what you do you do it correctly but i would not expect anyone

to notice and or care about the theme that plays when you're in the locker room before the coliseum fights because that random one forgettable thing for in most cases is one of my favorite fucking tracks on the goddamn thing um but yeah no they got they yeah okay

this is this is all of it though otherwise it's it's a it's a crazy list um and it's a ton of fun and it's great and i don't really have much else to say it's exactly what it purports to be and it's exactly what you expect it to be and the only downside to it at all is

that it's it may be missing this track or that that you were excited to see what it has been funny though is going through people's impressions or reviews and i a consistent refrain is yo why does final fantasy 14 have double the size of the second largest like game why does it have 32 tracks compared to

no sorry 33 tracks compared to everything else is like 18 max it's like well because it's actually five games right they're including every expansion i would own thing i would assume that ff 13 one two and three would have more than even seven collection

but uh i don't know i mean how's the uh two i mean they're split if i remember right but i can't remember is the actual rhythm game itself pretty fun yeah it's amplitude okay right now and then you do an analog stick it taps holds multiples um it is it is uh there's four difficulties not every song has the

fourth difficulty which is called supreme um but the only issue there is that there's normal or easy whatever you call it the first one then there's expert then there's ultimate uh the jump between expert and ultimate is fucking gargantuan it is it is like the difference between guitar hero on easy and guitar hero on

expert it is it is a chasm hmm yeah and supreme is extra stupid and supreme is for ddr balani freaks well i was gonna say like in the the the world of balani exists we are now in a world where extra stupid is actually viable and you're allowed to program for like

just absolute robot freaks um and assume that a human can do it because yeah the the shit that that they got up to and beat mania the final level of where rhythm games are at in in japanese arcades is just it's like again i don't know that anyone in the office is actually completing these but it's like

theoretically a human can do this therefore ship it mm-hmm uh cool no it's it's a it's a great is a great little rhythm game um and it's probably a more affordable way to own all that music than to buy an ost collection officially well i'm sure

there's a i'm sure there's a more affordable way to get that music and all things considered yeah especially considering none of the soundtracks are complete like not a single soundtrack on that is is complete though it is a little it'll is a little troubling some of the dlc

tracks for older games are like 10 second loops because that's what those tracks are from the nests or the super nests oops and that's been pretty much it for me um unless i remember something at a later date uh this week if you go down a

pat stares at you'll be seeing more page may cry we're probably gonna try and finish don't make cry two this week don't make cry two uh hey woolly i don't know how much you remember about dmc2 i bet you forgot that game has the most amounts of lock on of any

game i've ever played it has three lock on states soft hard and off none yes because we discovered we discovered in the oil refinery you know you fight the you know fight the the menatar guy sure when you escape from that every enemy in the game you

get a soft lock on right like it automatically soft locks and you can maintain that soft lock on an enemy by holding r1 but sometimes you have to hit things in the environment and because soft lock is permanent you have to hold down right trigger to lock off so that you can actually aim your sword where

you want it to hit like levers so you have to hold lock on and then free no no you have to hold there's r1 is lock on yes r2 is lock off lock on okay yes okay so that you don't get soft locked so you need to soft lock to so like soft lock modifying buttons so like the bit where page is trying to

like get through a door where you have to hit three levers and she's like standing next to it and swinging her sword and her sword's going behind her because there's a bat in the sky she can't see can't even see the lock on symbol but daught they's trying to hit it with his sword and we're having a

yell at her no honey lock off lock off so you can hit the or you could stick around and find out the hard way it's really interesting because the first time she sat down to play it was oh that's not so bad and then the second time she sat down to play it she fought the fucking moth boss

that never fucking lands she we had to do this lock off shit we fight the minotaur and the oil refinery that fucking can't close the distance to you so you just shoot it and she got up from that going yo this game sucks and so it's like there was this moment of love like her playing through the first

couple of levels i'm like did i am i remembering it wrong is it not actually is it not as bad as i thought and it's like no it's not no one element is outrageous or broken it's all it's all the little things it's death by a thousand cuts it's her asking at mission 12 so what's happening

in the game and i don't know what to tell her because i don't think anything is happening well i mean look a demon infested tank is just a piece of shit garbage ass thing to do no matter what time of day it is well she had she had her moments with that she had her her her waking up to

justice the holding the lock on shoot button while eating cheerios there you go gave it the respect it deserved similarly face out of a skyscraper doing its shitty fucking orb 3d thing yeah there is that games yeah wild there is the dead silence there's the there's the parts where

the wife is rolling over and her arms are just slapping me right in the mouth okay just slapping me right in the face and i go what what is something wrong and then i look over and just i'm just asleep

but these are new you haven't gotten used to these by now these are new discoveries they're not consistent they're not consistent it's only on a toss and turner and then my favorite part my favorite part

was i got my oh my god i'm exhausted oh oh no why oh you kept slapping me in the face at night honey and she and she looks at me and goes well why didn't she just get out of bed and go sleep somewhere else

you're right you're right that what that isn't that's my mistake wasn't that your solution already i i'm okay because like yeah i thought that was i thought that was expressly like the deal was it it needs to be perfect in the middle

there's these little punch points that you're gonna like crack open you know but you see Zangief doing the larry it at you from first person view

and it's just taking street fighter five assets and you know rotating the camera really is all that's happening here they did this a bit before with like an

AR game too and it it was similarly just like it doesn't it's not made for this the animation's not made for this it's not it's not great

like you'd have to design this from the ground up and not just reuse assets if you wanted it to be good you have to design it from the ground up with characters that haven't been designed

to be viewed from a certain angle for their entire life cycle ever and what that means is converting all of these street fighter characters to punch out characters

which are made to be seen from the front head on so that you can dodge left dodge right back up block and counter you know but that would require

more than just here's the assets of five go make something quick so yeah you know whatever it's it's gonna be a

Japanese arcade game and then it might get ported to like a headset but you know if you want to fucking feel sick maybe consider

giving it a shot I think they're also like announcing psvr2 stuff so seems like it might go hand-in-hand with that eventually

alongside that as well there was some psvr2 stuff for tetris effect connected which don't gotta get too in-depth

with that it's they just basically added a bunch of really competitive cool modes for like people that do worlds grandmaster challenge stuff

oh cool and they added like tatte mode for switch so you can play it vertically but the the biggest

and coolest announcement tetris related was the fucking trailer for the goddamn movie which we

heard about last year as there was going to be a tetris movie but it was not going to be a movie about the game tetris as much as it was the crazy story of its creation

and it being smuggled over to nintendo out of russia during the soviet era and everything to do with that so

the trailer came out and there's like an apple tv i think it's an apple tv movie or exclusive or whatever but yeah

like car chases and explosions and spy infiltration and yadda yadda to which my understanding is there's been some videos that have

broken down the history of tetris before bless you excuse me there's some weird shit and some crazy shit i don't know that the dramatization

of the exploding car chases is going to be particularly accurate probably not but one detail that was not there

is one of the co-creators of tetris that helped the main guy make the game i believe like also then

went on to like murder his entire family and himself cool and that seems to be not part of that's omitted what we've seen

there might be a little bit dark for a a romp about tetris that's played for gags um

so yeah that seems to be omitted seems to be like the angle is like you won't like tetris is fucking real you won't even believe

I can think of Bethesda and I can think of capcom in situations of which people are working at these companies and they go so when are we going to get to do that project

that you've been telling us we're going to get to do later and there's only so many years you can do that to people who are really really just working there so they can get to the cool project

so yes the people that were working on that project that sounded like it would have been a cool that's never coming out are leaving

that sick ass mecha game called metal warriors for the super nintendo that we do we played some time ago right so that thing is awesome

versus mode single player mode that's really awesome like anime cutscenes for the snes fire so that game was actually part of a series

called cybernator cybernator was the longer the bigger single player game that came out before that the snes port was kind of simplified

and dumbed down but still pretty alright there was a much sicker version called assault suit valken so that version

is now being released on the switch as assault suits valken declassified and again if you know metal warriors and or cybernator like this game is

fucking sick just a really cool platforming mecha game that also has a pretty intense like a story and and shit that got censored

when released in america that has been since uncensored for this game because war stuff happens so yeah this is a notable re

release plus extra almost I don't you know whatever you'd call it not a remake certainly but uh whatever a

re re thing reloaded but yeah want to definitely want to point that out as anyone who might enjoy the robots

as we were just discussing um I like robot it's good it's good it has a real cool thing to it as well where like you can walk around

side scrolly and aim it up and down and shoot but then you can like hit like a dash button and then like you just kind of skate you know

and you just become like a little like roving like a little skate robot and then you can switch between the two and like jump while skating and then boost in the air hold your position

aim down it's fucking cool man there are I can't think of more than fucking two games that incorporate skating the way you just described one of them is tribes obviously

and one of them is the one you just mentioned and I'm like that is a fucking cool style of movement that nobody does yeah you get a little bit of it with virtual on

but they're really just boosting everywhere but it kind of feels like it but no I've always wanted a video game equivalent of Raide the Blade from Trigun which is the samurai

enemy that he fights that has skates and a sword and between those two keeps up with the guns you know yeah anyway

other stuff going on big old fun at blizzard oh boy oh yeah yeah blizzard's going good finally good good news for blizzard

they need it they've been having a rough time well it turns out because last time we talked about it the stack ranking that was being discussed was this the thing where basically you were forced to tell employees

that we're doing fine that they were actually not doing fine this was the system that that metrics needed you to have some people in development even though they were doing quite okay and people left the studio over that

because they didn't want a shit on their team well blizzard has spoken out about that they've come back particularly the president Mikey Barra did an open Q&A at the company

to address a lot of the stuff that's been going on and apparently the Q&A went so poorly that immediately after it everyone that was there privy to the meeting which was a private company meeting

just started yelling online about how fucking stupid it went and uh all the pre-screened questions that were answered on all the topics including stack ranking and remote work network remote work practices

getting rolled back and people getting profit sharing bonuses reduced all of the shit that was uh you know hot button was just given either the most hand-wavy non-answers

or doubling down and people are just kind of leaking that it was a complete shit show yeah it's been it's been my understanding

go like digging through all this crap over the past year Blizzard had a fucked up culture that was determined by all the guys who started the company most of them being like total assholes and that filtering down and a bunch of people

who still work there are like fucking normal and every time something bad happens that is directly the fault of all the people running the company they somehow just piss downwards all over the remaining employees

that are trying to do their job normally and people are quitting and quitting and when people quit more piss comes down to fix the problems caused by the earlier piss yeah

well it seems like anytime like this type of shit is in place it's probably been that way for a long time but if there's potential mergers on the horizon there's gonna be extra piss to to reach to get

there's extra piss chambers in reserves for the excited merger merger release you know the merger stuff is getting super funny because the FCC is like really putting a hold on it and examining them and the UK or

or European trade commission just literally said nah the companies are too big you have to you can merge but you have to divest yourself of call of duty or Activision

or Blizzard in order to go through with the merger and so as a result I don't know if you saw this but like fucking Microsoft came out and was like yeah Game Pass actually sucks

and we lose tons of money on it um and it's and it's a big mistake and it's actually very unsuccessful um and they're all kind of trying to like peacock themselves

and roll around in a pile of shit in order to like make the merger look like better like it's not a bunch of successful super companies we're all actually falling the fuck apart over here so it wouldn't be that big of a deal if we merged so let's just let's just rub some dirt on our faces and walk around barefoot for a bit

new shonen jump series and uh basically the news was that the translator uh fucking quit yeah i saw this and then i was like how bad could it how bad could it be i went and looked at some of the panels i'd fucking quit too holy shit like i was like what's the why is this a story what happened what

is the cipher academy and you go and you look at what the translation is and it's actual nonsense because we laugh at the dumb like kojima puns and the english word play that a lot of japanese games and visual novel style stories love to just lean into and how a bunch of that doesn't work when you go into english

but you're gonna try because i the somnium files needs to be about ai but also the i but also i the name but also i the love and and you're just like oh my like can we is it just really is this everything is this all of the depth is that everyone that has a name made out of hiragana or katakana or kanji can be

read in multiple ways and then those multiple things readings mean different personality trait like is that it and it's like yeah that's a thing and some people are so obsessed with that that it goes to the level of cipher academy where this appears to be the whole deal of the most

recent chapters in particular the last three have had disclaimers on them where the translator was like yeah this shit's fucking crazy and i tried but fuck and then you click it's wild you see a translator note that basically reads i gave up here's what's happening and you see the wordplay battle that's

taking place and basically you have to give answers that are only half syllables from the kana syllable syllabary and then draw from cards that are like half syllables of kana and then create a list of answers to trivia and then the positioning of said trivia needs to be stacked in a

most verbose to least like most letters to least letters like reverse pyramid at which and that's like the first step of whatever the word cipher battle is happening here and so like the there's on the left side you're looking at mad libs style fill in the blanks for your questions

and then you have to create answers and then match them over into the fucking madness absolute complete utter insanity that is never to contextualize just how confusing it is all i can come up with is it is attempting to translate into a non uh latin or german based language

what the phrase buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo means despite all of those words retaining different like meanings yes keeping the meanings the same keeping it but keeping the repetition the same in jab it like it's impossible it doesn't work yeah it just doesn't go

no connection with the questions to begin with um and it's just two characters staring at these cards freaking out over the choices and the results and like at certain pages you scroll down and you just see like um so half the page vertically is the art of the character

and the other half is just the text flying syllables that are transliterated like a newspaper almost i don't know what it means um so yeah no uh no fucking uh no shame in quitting on this fucking garbage um and i'm really impressive apparently apparently it's incredibly smart and cool but i don't know and i never will and like

the gibberish of like someone like the after the big insane breakout moments where characters are sweating freaking out and difficulty level is at six and you're seeing english text of like why don't wxrs go xwxy how long wxll pxoplx xxpxlxngxxchothxr you and me both man it's fooling crazy why not and it's your brain is supposed to

don't exist and people are objective this would be a really cool idea but this is an insanely stupid idea in the real world we live in because it directly implies that the best video games become immensely unaffordable also what no no no that's not what would happen in this system what incentive is there for any

human to rate any game other than straight zero garbage all video games become free providing that though this providing that there is not a baked in well if the game flops were not making another one right so perish i get free video game now then there's that but the idea that there is a game that it would

ever be treated and reviewed highly and respected it means oh like this the later you get to it the more fucking expensive it is and that's just a stupid system to have there's no benefit to that the idea of like oh your bad game should cost less and yadda yadda is like you that's layer one of the economic thought uh

cheaper there's that as far as it can be pushed there's the other version of that in reality is after a certain amount of time games go on discount unless they're nintendo games and if the game is particularly bad you might catch it in the bargain bin sooner than others because they're trying to get rid of their

stock for example this weekend i was considering buying uh midnight suns the marvel xcom game because it was 40 percent off despite coming out last month and i was like should i get it and then i was informed i'll just wait till the dlc is out and then it'll go 50 percent off and i was like you're right

i could do that however that is not a nintendo game yeah um never go on sale ever and then there's just the absolute batshit pay structure that would become like um working on a game like in any capacity as a team like you don't know whether you can keep the lights on or not

because you just it's it's at the whims and you know there could be a system of like you know well here's your salary versus the profits it makes or doesn't make but there's just every like once you think about it beyond that first step of good gay like bad games should cost less and like that that's the first and then

everything after that completely falls apart uh so no dumb idea terrible it's a fun thought experiment yeah i suppose but it just it just it's divorced from the reality of the world we live in and how people like make money and survive and fucking get paid

uh i'll take it away fuck it so your re-release is hey it is relatively unchanged it's a port it has been ported so a re-release would be for example every version of Resident Evil 4 to date right yeah the end goal was to recreate the experience played elsewhere if anything changed it was unintentional

because fidelity is the number one priority right your remaster is uh it's also a port however they have gone in and they have actually fussed with the guts they want it to run faster they're gonna clean up some textures they're gonna widescreen it they're gonna you know do

all the things to clean it up and and have it pretend to be a video game released in the year that you are actually going to purchase it a remake is more than that i would say remake is the point in which large scale assets are being completely replaced yeah the overall game is still doing

the same thing and the events are more and the there might be extras and things changed about you know the combat and so on but for the most part it's the same game redone um a reboot can just be a completely different game that has nothing beyond like the titular like

names of people and or things but there doesn't have to be any common threads whatsoever right so if you want if you want the series that you can look at that has all of these look at resident evil and we'll take resident evil one resident evil one director's cut is a

re-release that has slightly slightly different music or the Saturn port would be a re-release of resident evil one however then you have resident evil remake which is a ground up complete asset like brand new game a hundred percent new asset

new sound effect new mechanic everything but it's built on the old blueprint then you have the re-release of resident evil remake that is actually a remaster on the pc and modern platforms many years later in that it is the resident evil remake but it's actually just being cleaned up

and had widescreen added to it and modern graphics options yeah i think a lot of these ants i think a lot of these names also get a little bit more clarified if you think about them in context of film right if a film gets re-released they grabbed the old 16 millimeter or so

they hit the real and then they're putting that back out so that you can see it in the state that it was released in in the same aspect ratio if you're seeing a remaster you're probably seeing something that either is adjusting the the the quality of the of the actual

film you know they could be they could be using music that's like a better recording of the same music better clearer audio for at the time and they're taking the same pieces and using better quality versions of the same pieces and putting them back together

in some cases they'll upscale go to 4k or whatever hey man it's in technicolor now can you fucking believe that exactly and that's the the mastering process remastering refers to like yeah the mastering process of bringing all the assets together the assets are now sharper than they

could have been when we first combined them back in the 70s a remake will be we hired new actors and built new sets and filmed a new version of the same events unfolding the way they did in that last movie

and then the reboot is uh this is a brand new movie and the main character and the place the story takes place in are the same but everything else is different and then a soft reboot is mostly the same events but it somehow contains the

old continuity and then a soft sea boot is a sequel to the old continuity that still technically retains it while mimicking the old events but still technically remaining within canon shout out Star Trek

like the new halloween movies are actually soft sea boots as Star Trek as well yeah and i'm stupid and that but it didn't exist until as far as i know i might be wrong on this i don't think that existed until the

Star Trek moment happens and you go oh fuck they're connected right yeah that was that what that is a soft sea boot you're right yeah that's where that concept even even came along

um that as far as i know um yeah so anyways is like the worst term of the world oh when you when you but when you when you put these in in in that kind of context it kind of lines it up a little bit more

because the title of that game is wrong that is a Metroid Prime remake that is not a remaster it is a total asset redo like it's called it's called remastered it is called Metroid Prime remastered yes it is not it should it should be

like there's just there's a hard cap on the amount of progress i can make and in a thing um with somebody else so all of that

keeps bubbling in my mind and it will continue to do so and it will always be in an anxiety-inducing thought or as i continue to do this gig

but um i guess my willingness to jump in in the middle of it without doing

without knowing fully what's going on is like if i can go back and watch a video or watch a a long play of it i'll at least try to get that done

and you know i'll do some do-jail do due diligence if possible you know um and i think that's

hopefully that's reasonable i think you should just fucking load up witcher three and fucking go absolutely no foreign knowledge at all

right see now if i did that and then three sessions later i just stopped and then nobody knows why or what's going to happen to it

so that like red you could see what i did in the meantime and it was mainly not too much map expansion just trying to get you know

stuff done like maybe there's ways to go about it to minimize mitigate it but when i really

really want to you know that's that's that overrides the other stuff anyways i'm fine with that

as long as you give it an honest take honest honest chance like i remember hopping into league of legends despite not being
