How many drinks is that, Pat? That's only three, but I didn't eat anything today. Like anything. Like I woke up and got upset. Guys? That's been the path of today, is I woke up and the first thing I looked at made me so upset that I wanted to cry. Guys, you're in for a really special episode.

And then you wanted to drink. A really special episode. I wanted to drink, yeah. A sobering episode. Of the Super Best Friendcast. Oh, man. Alright. So.

How would you like to start this? Well, there's a lot of questions. Well, the question is what's the haps, right? So here's what's the haps. About six hours ago, I published a video that Woolly and I had made called Pat and Woolly's Bizarre Adventure. Indeed. In which we played JoJo's Bizarre Adventures All-Star Battle.

In which we completely fucked up and made a huge amount of factual errors. We done goofed. In terms of how you, particularly the main thing is how you unlock characters. Yes, how you unlock. And that's how you unlock characters in relation to the game's weird free-to-play elements. Doing such stupid things as calling everyone at Namco Bandai a bunch of thieves and whatnot. I believe the exact quote was. They're robbing you.

They're robbing you. They're robbing you. So. They're money vampires. So let's be super clear. We fucked up mad hard. We are apologizing because that is not true and it has come to light very loudly in the comments.

And immediately. And immediately. That you actually unlock the characters through the story mode. And which is apparently relatively trivial to do. Yes. Now I think I'm going to take it back to us both being misinformed by. So the basic. Articles.

Gap. Internet journalism. Like the basic deal. It all came down to a single word. We would go to NeoGaff or an article and it would say that you need to play this battery game and order a lot of content. Yes. And we assume that content meant everything in the game.

But all these articles actually meant is taunts and poses and costumes and stuff. Superficial stuff. Yeah. You did buy it and pop it in. I did try it at another place. We played a bit earlier but that was something that we were missing there. Yeah. So we made a really bad assumption.

And there's a good 12 minutes of that video that are now total garbage and full out lies. Yeah. And dudes. Okay. Everyone at Namco Bandai that I accused of being a thief. I'm really sorry. That's shitty of me. Shit.

That was a bad move on both our parts especially considering like it's a new game and we're talking to a lot of people. You got to get your shit right. I still think that the hiding costumes behind that mode is kind of gross but it's not characters so I'm an asshole. Exactly. And that's the same thing. It's the kind of thing where when I talk about where fighting games should go and stuff

I say you can take cosmetics and charge for them because they're cosmetics and they'll help. So hey. I really hope that everyone offended or upset by our complete utter fuck up. Yeah. That's my apology. I've been tearing myself up all day over it. I'm drinking a little bit.

Okay. Drinking a lot. Okay. Like tearing ourselves up has been much but I mean I've totally been upset all day. Okay. Well for what it's worth though like that being said I still feel there's a lot that needs to be addressed in the game before it comes over states. The actual fighting.

The actual fighting. That's the but. Yes. To the end of that sentence. All that they take the time to address all those other things we talked about as we go on into next year because you can salvage what's there into a very playable good game that I think we could get hype over. Absolutely.

Yeah. But I was going to say though it's like JoJo is not like a huge thing in North America because none of that and like. It's a little fabulous. It's a little fabulous. So what are you banking on if you're bringing your game over here banking that maybe the fighting game community might take notice of your game. But the American fighting game is not going to take very much into this game unless things

are made. I'm really sorry for being a dick. That being said it doesn't excuse the fact that huge portions of that game are just fucked up and broken and that the game is no fun to play. Now here's the problem is where we get into something where you have a really long video now where we're both basically hammering that home in a lot of different ways. But like if you like something and enjoy it and you have had fun with it having someone just tell you no this is not good.

It's not a good feeling. No it doesn't feel good. You're not going to suddenly just change your mind. Yeah. So we totally understand that going into this. But it's just we're just pointing out that these are flaws here and you can still go and have fun with it. You deserve better as a fan of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

You could potentially just buy that HD version of the Capcom game that didn't sell at all. Yeah but not. If you want a but I want the character to be named Vanilla Ice. You do. I know. I mean for what it's worth like when I did play at that first time at the the the Barcade it was a big group and there was a whole bunch of fan girls and fan guys that never touched like games period right that are all just squirming over my god they do my god look

at the stuff. So for what it's worth that's what CyberConnect is good at and hey let the game like get its credit for that. Right. Absolutely. So there I saw in some comments that some people were like no you guys it's every panel every attack is a panel every you know every move is there because it's like that in the manga like dude I totally get that and that's awesome but like my it's a game that I bought

yes I bought it I'm the one who fucking bought it like I need to have more enjoyment than fan service and when we play other games that are super fucking sick like that are fighting games with each other and have so much fun with like it's like god damn you look at like a very two very comparable examples one is Persona 4 Arena and the other is Hokuto no Ken the PS2 game. Those games are both based on existing like anime-esque properties or animes or manga in general and they get all the weird like little digs in all the little you know the little touches that you would want but they're like the first thing that I thought of when

I picked them up wasn't like oh man Kinshiro does that thing that's so awesome the first thing that I thought of is like wow this is fun this is awesome where's the first thing I thought of when I played All Star Battle is I can't believe how fucking slow it is. of Phoenix right you've been like I love Phoenix right yeah I love Ace Attorney or Gakuten Siban or turnabout attorney yeah whatever the fuck you want to call it so when you get to the case three just realize that this is as bad as it's ever going to get and once you get past it you get to what is the best case in this series good but I'm really enjoying it but your goal was to build it all up I'm just gonna beat the three not investigations because it's such a side story thing right before October 24th yeah I liked it yeah I fucking hope I can do it you saw that the creator of Phoenix right was like I really wish that I had some sort of input on dual destinies I wish they hadn't just taken what I had done

at the end of Paulo and just switched it on everyone he also did say like it's good and I like it yeah it wasn't what he had thought I just wish I had gotten my finger in that pie also finished the best anime of this season I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen the anime what's the name of the anime but like there's a sequence at the end where the main character is what's the name of the anime rolling about with a friend of his and like it's a really intense scene and then like they just freeze up at the end on the ground and like it's so good are you talking about free I'm talking about free not attack on Titan I know you were talking about that would be a weird ending for attack on time

that's that's pretty much the end of attack on Titan also I was going to ask you what console you were playing Phoenix right on but now there's such a bad taste in my mouth that I almost don't care I'm you'll get used to it I'm playing justice for all right now on my iPhone because it was good awesome but I don't think so but I own all the other ones on DS so I'll jump back to it after this one and yeah it's how content was really good to anyway 40 you man madhouse what's going on I finally got into wonderful 101 yeah you did like like three hours into it and you know when we played it at that Wii U event last year like well before the launch of the thing that's right I think we're all like that's good it's

platinum I'm sure I'll buy it and even when we played it again at E3 yeah even when I played the demo totally I was like it's good I'll buy it but you didn't have the the spark I guess like just you actually need to play the fucking game yeah I played the fucking game and like well I think it's the second mission where I was like okay wait this is way way better than I thought it was gonna be like I can clear I can cleanly with with no shred of doubt in my mind that's on my top 10 games absolutely knew it was hot but like you finally had the the cat the platinum like sploosh in your face it's super hot it's the kind of thing I'm gonna sploosh me in the face more more it's the kind of thing where you look at it and you see that like the demo scene like

this is a game totally failed by its own demo because like growing more powerful and learning the systems and getting more used to it and gaining mastery over the game is the big deal and when you just dump you in a level with the demo stuff and the devil boss you're just like it doesn't get that same feeling that's just like description of any skill based game so thanks for that description see boy the demo for DMC did not help DMC at all right exactly no demo probably helped us so I don't I want to stand 101 a little longer because over the weekend I beat the wonderful 101 okay and did I overstate the ending so last week if you listen last week Liam said that the ending the quote-unquote ending sequence of 101 is about two hours long give or take and that it is

grander in scale than Bayonetta's if you're a failure and better also he was under stating that that's fucking he was under so fucking white under what he was under stating that to the extreme and I'm in a weird place because woolly's crazy about spoilers yes so I'm gonna keep it on the low side there is a television show that we have all watched and we all adore to death oh yeah and it just you know that Hideki Kimia the main person behind as much as we do he loves it as much as we do and that when he made 101 he said I want to do an homage to this show and he did and he fucking did 101 spiral nights I'm not gonna say that oh my god also say that there are games that camea has said that he wants to make in the past if someone would let him he doesn't have to make

those games anymore because he did the end I could like we talked about believe me so this is the thing we talked about last week is that so many games have really bad endings and platinum games always end strong like hella crazy strong and powerful they end you're at the credits and it says thank you for playing and you say yeah I fucking love that and they all say what game wonderful 101 okay is a game that you get to that credit sequence and you are just filled with this childlike I just beat sonic 2 level joy so I feel like we've been talking about this for like four weeks in a row but I'm happy to hear that it's warranted it's by the way as soon as this episode is done you you and you all three you are going to need to give me your Nintendo friend IDs because

I gotta we you know yeah yeah picked it up I got me my Zelda edition I got me my wonderful 101 I got me all my shits I set it up fucking hurry cuz you worry fast you will die if you get spoiled on 101 yeah no I know I know I whipped my Pikmin into grabbing my Wii data and transferring it over isn't that cool they're all running with it and I'm there with the fucking four means like yelling thing like hurry the fuck up work harder slaves you know it took a while but they got it in there the rocket ship landed yeah all my shits in I'm pretty happy I think with that we can say that if anyone's thinking of getting a Wii U or has one right now and you're looking for one game if you like Japanese action games do it like action games get get everything about it and I'll also

say if you like survival horror games zombie you was probably number 12 on my last year I was gonna say I thought zombie you is an amazing entry into survival horror canon and it's like it's a launch game it's probably my favorite launch game of all time also those little Zelda decals on the fucking Wii pad of the game pad game pattern oh yeah you got there and I'm looking at the box and it's like it's there for 300 bucks and then there's the normal one for 350 next to yeah why why would you and it also comes with a digital copy of Hyrule Historia yeah which I'm like sure that's why they're phasing out the 300 one because no one's buying up yeah next to his other one I just want to say though the other thing I did really quickly over the weekend I think we've

talked about this movie I saw a movie called I Saw the Devil oh yeah and this this is Storm Shadow from the G.I. Joe movies fighting Daisu from Old Boy Odesu Odesu sorry and he plays the villainous most evil fucking psycho murderer ever in the movie and it's Odesu yes he's the bad guy worse than Lady Vengeance because he's a really fucking bad guy you don't know um this movie could also have his alternative title which is called Revenge the Movie Revenge of Back to the Revenge okay because all it is is it should have been in the trilogy of revenge movies gotta kill it so if anyone likes really violent Korean movies are fucked up I love it what are they not violent I love violent Korean movies are fucked up it's it's it's on Netflix it was pretty brutal what's it called again

I Saw the Devil pretty good name nice nice all right but yeah no and the interesting thing with the timing of my review thing was it was right I set up my tv like a sink there thing yeah and my battery's on my normal remote died like right I'm like hey I don't need batteries good job guys I don't know how that shit works anymore I set that up on my tv and now it doesn't work anymore no that's a shame now thanks Wii U just set it up again yeah and the other thing I did this weekend which I hope we all did was it was the end of many seasons of things yes but two things most importantly yeah so uh it just in terms of free just not spoil it for anybody uh the end of attack on titan happens came it was a thing yes and to and to just explain it in noises it was like

oh so I want to be I want to I want to get out here and say and I don't care if people don't believe me but the stinger at the end of attack on titan for people watching it I have not read the manga and I totally called it I totally called it wow I called it so hard I get the biggest give me the cowboy hat that Matt's got over there so for background Pat has been telling us every week for maybe eight weeks how far he's been calling it so cold we are not only used to this but over it and in a phase of acceptance exactly I was looking at my feet while he was talking if you probably you're watching a show that I'm watching and you want to be surprised don't talk to me um and the other thing that ended which I know none of you fuckers watch which is but I want

to watch it breaking bad ended last night we'll see now breaking bad ending means that I can watch breaking bad yeah god all right one thing I took away is that everyone's saying dexter finished and they were saying it was off yes everyone everyone hated the end of dexter and breaking bad it's like everyone loved it um so my sound effects for breaking bad are just you're you're in a breaking bed oh yeah oh yeah super hard really sells drugs and hey man we got sponsors on this episode so you mother fucker you've already said enough stuff to make them drive away they tried to kill my wife no um it's a great movie my breaking bad sound effects are pretty much just I want to point out he's got a happy he's got a happy look on his

face yeah he does yeah there we go that's that now breaking bad and dexter the two examples you guys just use point out like why I don't watch television anymore until it's done because I was interested in lost I thought lost was a cool idea but I never got around to it and then people finished lost and said that was the worst ending to anything ever right I feel stupid for having watched the show and ever since I have been terrified but you're telling me that I should watch breaking bad is that what you're saying super fucking hard is it the interim is it a filler episode of Malcolm in the middle um I popped on the meta critic for a second today and like I think TV critics are pretty harsh from not mistaken I believe they are because most of TV's garbage

breaking bad season fives meta score is 99 that's pretty good it's all 100s and one review by like the Boston Herald yeah 67 no dude like what is wrong with it's super like nice again we're not we're never gonna spoil anything here so don't worry guys but it's just it's what we love you guys we won't want to spoil it's it's like it's every week it blows your mind with how much attention to detail yeah to everything that has happened before yeah and it's one of the few shows in history I find where like it's getting really really fucking overhyped on everyone's like facebook's and everything but then you watch it you're like no that was under okay so the only thing I've ever heard you talk about in relation with these kinds of terms and and and stuff is

the wire yeah you told me that like I ran into situations like the wire was crazy overhyped like how can anything be more overhyped than the wire and then I watched the wire and I immediately became a wire hype man I was like you gotta watch the wire are you telling me are you are you gonna fucking sit there and tell me that breaking bad is the equivalent or peer to the wire the wire redefines its genre right it's cowboy bebop of tv of tv show um breaking bad doesn't have a genre it creates one ah so it's cowboy bebop it's peer in a completely different way and the best description I've heard of it was the feel bad show of the century great awesome so into that I remember that was a tagline for the uh american version of grow the dragon head to is the feel bad movie of

christmas yeah yeah because it released three years when my when my anime waifus are crying due to horrible interpersonal drama that's what I want so if you're telling me that breaking bad is gonna make me feel like shit oh yeah I am so on board a really interesting thing that you're talking about the wire and breaking bad is like how long did the wire last five seasons five seasons how long did breaking bad last five seasons five seasons you know how long dexter last eight seasons eight seasons yep yep you get out when you run out of ideas that's it man don't be afraid to call it quits yeah don't be afraid the money's too good though that's what happens everyone gets caught up you gotta get out of the game when the game is good yeah man leave on a high note leave on a high

note like like you're looking at you every every classic thing ever that people look back and say that was the greatest thing of its time is stuff that knew when it to end that it knew not to get in that awful yeah down no and you look and I'm gonna go way back in time to something like all in the family I don't know good things know when to end when you look at man you're like 12 man no you go back to something like all in the family and they tried to keep going like Archie's place or something after eating fucking died and you're just like fuck it's weird um um that 70s show fucking formin leaves the show and they keep they try to go in oh just stop don't bother guys just just just know that even if it's money even if it's money that you want realize that if you

end it and people go that was the best show ever or that was a perfect show or something in 10 years yeah when you fucking reach out and say hey you remember that show when you were growing up or when you were in your 20s or whatever you remember that show didn't that show make you feel good isn't that show the best isn't that a show you want to own on blu-ray and show to people and not like oh did you watch it last week no why would you then it'll come back you we talk about Breaking Bad we talk about the wire we talk about that 70s show and these are all relatively minor examples but nothing's gonna fucking compare to the zombie shit show that's the fucking simpsons yeah that's but the longest learning of all time right yeah just like if you

said if the longest running nothing of all time if the simpsons ended after season nine and they had a fucking complete simpsons blu-ray pack that cost 300 fucking dollars we'd all own it your literal comparison is fucking Futurama yeah which gets cut off right in the middle of its hypus moments yeah and everyone goes batshit for it yeah the biggest Futurama fans inside of all of us we love it with such a passion because it was taken away at its peak so we'd like to say that now the best friends are at their hype and at big moments we're fucking done we're done we're going to go live on a tropical island filled with russians and to honestly just put the little cap on it today would be the day we did uh to put the cap on it interestingly enough to tie it

up at back in a little bit they announced that the attack on Titan manga is fucking ended at volume 20 and the creator says yo i totally know the whole story i planned it out yes then everyone says now we're going way off topic i'm gonna bring us to a different world now sure we're gonna we're gonna bring okay stop me if you want me to stop because i was just gonna say like manga is another thing where there's two examples berserk and vagabond that are just going on forever now and they're still really good quality yeah but other shit out there like usually if you have an ending and you just fucking execute it yeah you're not gonna regret now i'm gonna i'm gonna bring up the two closest examples that represent the supreme danger of the approach of just push it just make

as many as you want and that's the fantasy series called game of thrones or a song of ice and fire and the fantasy series known as the wheel of time written by a guy named robert jordan robert jordan now robert jordan made a fucking book and i think it was 1990 called the eye of the world it was a big fantasy series it was huge and then he was gonna make the final book in like 2004 or some shit and then he fucking died and his editor and his son had to finish the fucking book yeah and it may not have ever come out right you look at game of thrones and people are really scared now there's a tv series everyone's reading the books georgia r r martin looks like shit he looks like shit and everyone is terrified that he takes sometimes 10 years to write a fucking book right

what if he just fucking died this it sounds like from the interviews that i've watched with him he has so many fucking notes yeah that his people can take you to it right and then you look at my personal most hated love person in this world is kentaro murah the guy who writes and draws berserk he doesn't know what the end of berserk is and he's in his late 60s and he's tired of berserk and for fuck's sake just finish berserk just one more raid man just one more raid one more raid i have been reading berserk for like 20 fucking years you have not none of us have i totally have and his shamans just leveled up i saw it in a thing like 20 years ago it wasn't translated yeah i remember at least 10 years ago you showing me some things like check out this

of i think it's called phoenix oh yeah where he wrote 12 volumes and he died during the 13th and so the editors and such they pulled together all the the materials that were there and i think they just released it as is they didn't finish it they put the materials and the writing and stuff i haven't actually read it so i don't know if that's actually like a hundred percent accurate but they didn't finish it that's put it stuff together that's like when when you're a guy like that that's just the most respectful thing that's the viking ship yeah yeah yeah like how dare anyone else try to pick up this pen yeah i hope that someone does a viking ship with me and just because publishes everything i had on public just just burns a bunch of youtube videos like you know like i don't

like two seconds one there's gonna be a steam os two there's gonna be steam boxes three this controller looks like shit so onwards yes uh it has two tactile feedback sensory their track pads track pads exactly um and the the weird thing is that like what it doesn't just it's not just a touchscreen it actually has clicks right right so that's not the worst thing ever but if you're not playing a shooter what the fuck you're gonna play with this so i did a ton of research on this i i read through all the developer interviews you read through all of the neo gaff all of the neo gaff so the basic deal is is that these have magnets underneath them that can form into shapes so that it on the track pad it will feel like you're there's a button button come on when you

character you're using but the important thing is the precision of the input sure right and he said it's not great it's not perfect i'd still take a dual analog controller over it but it was fine of course and i'm interested in seeing where it's gonna go forward well of course like just i'm super meat boy i'm just thinking like if i can do an alien hominid run perfectly with the boost jumping right because you gotta hold down some shit to do that properly then then maybe but you know i'm sure i can't see but the thing is i'm thinking of like schmuck precision precision absolutely pixel pixel pixel and you know what it might actually be better for that that specific thing than a dual analog setup would be because of the fidelity of a track pad emulating a mouse

it's like lone survivor but the visual style is the gashley crumb tiny's i think it's worth mentioning it's by the guy who made retrograde which is really good i'm not from you guys didn't play retrograde it's like a reverse okay it's cool uh yeah matt gilgenbach is his name yeah but yeah no so um it's inspired by like the the gashley crumb tiny's look which is like those old macabre like grim books and it's like for everything is everything is cross-hatched everything is really it's black and white yeah and you walk around and there's all kinds of what's it called never ending nightmare you play as a little kid he's waking up right seeing more and more nightmares every time you wake up there's something change and you go and you find out because the creator

actually has uh mental illnesses that he's dealing with like what uh he has depression and he has OCD uh yeah that'll fuck you up yeah so he's using that and he's using this game as a sort of a way of implementing that into the gameplay yeah it's a platform to him to get it out and test and stuff you just mentioned you wake up and something's changed and that's the source of horror combined with what you just told me about the creator yeah that totally makes sense but that sounds super none of that shit is even the most interesting part of this the fucked up thing is what happened on Kickstarter the other day yeah this giant fucking debacle is nuts okay so this thing gets funded to about 90% right and it's got like i think well hours like no no not even hours it's like
