Starting point is 00:00:30 That dog isn't a tizzy, because hot reuse got him all bothered. Hot reuse hot? It's pretty hot. Of all the things that I wanted to take over the internet this weekend, one of the biggest was reuse beard. I couldn't be any fucking happier. Use Swanson showing up. Look at that.
Starting point is 00:01:00 Look at that. It looks so hot. Here we go. Here we go. Here's the thing that we've been looking forward to for ages, but the problem is that it's always going to be relegated to the alt costume and not the default. The best thing about this costume is that it's an alternative costume that can very easily also be the default.
Starting point is 00:01:20 It could have been. Yeah. We're getting there. At least Ken. Ken has a big step forward. Yes. Ken has a drastic change. Ken has a drastic change.
Starting point is 00:01:28 You're right. Charlie and Birdie, they were never big players, but they have drastic changes. Shelly has two giant drastic changes. Boy does she. And Mika got a new outfit. And one of them being the amount of makeup on her face. Yeah, exactly. Doldrin was pointing out that Ryu has to look the same because he's basically the mascot.
Starting point is 00:01:46 Yeah, exactly. You don't take away Mario's mustache. He's a symbol. He's an icon. You know what though? I want the character select screen to preview this by default and then give you the default when you press the button. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:59 It's still not exactly what I kind of want, which is the Udon version of that picture. Yeah. He's basically that. He's basically Ryu's alternative costume that we saw over the weekend, but he's got straggles. Yeah. And he kind of looks, this is just cool warrior Ryu, where he's like, I want downtrodden. And I'm in the woods.
Starting point is 00:02:20 In the woods. Well, that's old Ryu. That's this Ryu in 15 years. Yeah. That's what I want. Old ass Ryu. I want Ryu to be cranky and like, I don't want, I hate this fighting crap. Always kind of doing that all the way around.
Starting point is 00:02:34 Wasting my time. Like he found the answer and now he's done. I didn't even know about the internet. And it was, oh, and he's damaged by it. And it wasn't that great. It was cool. It was cool.com. He keeps fighting and the answer was to grow a beard, you fuck.
Starting point is 00:02:49 He solved all my problems. He solved all my problems. And now women want to be with him. Goken had a beard. He was super strong. And he survived death. Yeah. We need to get one of those like spray on things that's just like the answer was overrated
Starting point is 00:03:01 with Ryu's face. Yeah. Yeah. Oh man. Big week this week. Little bit. Big week. Welcome to the super best late cast.
Starting point is 00:03:09 I think this is the first legitimately late one. That's the first time I've broken schedule. Yeah. For the most legit reason. Exactly. I mean, we're in packs and we only got back like Monday night. Kind of like congratulations for us, for you making it two years without deviating from the path.
Starting point is 00:03:28 It's kind of crazy. It's also to some degree affected by the fact that I was in Toronto this weekend as well. Yeah, that's true. Mine have been able to Skype it on Sunday, but you weren't even fucking here. So, you know, whatever, enjoy your podcast. I'll get it to you. All right.
Starting point is 00:03:42 Thanks everybody. So we'll see you next. Exactly. That was a good one. This counts as 108. So fuck off. Yeah. No, it could come out.
Starting point is 00:03:50 Check that box. Check that box. Five minutes with a bunch of ads. That's fine. It's still a podcast. Oh man. If we put one up that was nine minutes long and had eight minutes of ads. It'd probably be our most high quality podcast ever.
Starting point is 00:04:00 Yeah, exactly. Because the longer you go on, the more mistakes can be made. It would be our least offensive podcast. Now you made me think about it. My favorite thing is fans going, oh, it's going to be late. Well, guess what? All the news will happen on Wednesday now. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:15 The one time. Well luckily this week we're not chatting up to news because like we played a shit ton of unreleased video games. And I guess we are lucky because there was news today. There was news today. So we're good. We did. You know what?
Starting point is 00:04:28 It felt good to catch some of that this morning. Yeah, a little bit. But let's start with the big fucking, the big hoopla, shall we gentlemen? So Patrick and I went to PAX Prime in Seattle this week. That's where it's held. I don't like it. I don't like it. I don't like it.
Starting point is 00:04:46 It was a blast. It was super, super fun. We got to play a lot of upcoming video games. I know Pat and I spent probably like 30% of our time around or at Street Fighter. That's correct. Because goddamn. And we both got in well over 60, 70 matches. We got in a couple dozen at the booth.
Starting point is 00:05:09 And then they had a Street Fighter 5 preview event at a clothing store down the way. That we thought was a bar. That we thought was a bar, which made it very difficult to find. The combo theme was hosting with those cool little portable consoles. And got in a shit ton of matches. We must have both played 70 plus matches each. Now I have to ask you, did you do the thing where, did you focus on characters not available in the beta?
Starting point is 00:05:33 Yes. Because she's my favorite. Okay. I played near exclusively Mika, Vega, and Nikoli. Thank you. Thank you, thank you. No, I only played Mika every single match. And yeah, to be fair, like 70% of my time was with Mika as well.
Starting point is 00:05:49 She's fucking great. She's amazing. She's always been my favorite character, but I don't even want to play Alpha. And she's redone. I'm glad. And she's really cool. And I come from the opposite side where I always hated Mika and her moveset. And her new moveset has made me a fucking believer.
Starting point is 00:06:05 She's so much more fun. Just all around. Huge improvement. Lots of really fun combos with her. The best summary of that reveal was fucking Dipod's little gifts that he put up on Tumblr. Reacting to the moment by moment things of, you know, Nadeshko showing up and all that good shit. You're just like, oh my god.
Starting point is 00:06:25 He was drawing himself reacting to the trailer. Yes. That's perfect. At one point his face turns into Venom. Like, yeah. Great, great. Beautiful. One of the things I don't think people are talking about enough for her is her Irish whip
Starting point is 00:06:37 is the goddamn best. Throwing, throwing, dying. So by the way. It's a command. It's the best thing. It's forward medium. And then if it hits you can hit medium again to do it and you hold whichever direction. That makes, yeah, okay.
Starting point is 00:06:49 And if they bounce off the wall you get a free second combo. So we played a lot of wrestling games recently and you're just, it's rustling. But this is really weird because it's shattering. What the fuck is this now? He can't do this. The winner is bound by the rules of kayfee. The fortunate thing is. It's thrown into an Irish whip.
Starting point is 00:07:06 The fortunate thing is, I think, the trailer only shows them hitting the wall. But if they don't hit the wall, what happens is they take two steps and they fall. That's actually pretty good. If they don't hit the wall they go almost a full third of the screen. So even if you don't hit it, it's really useful. And when they do hit the wall they have that wall bound. Like, it's not elegant. So the kayfabe still kind of works.
Starting point is 00:07:28 Yeah, slightly. They don't go into whatever. But she's like, she's the most fun. She's super, super fun. Oh my god. Are there characters I have not played in Street Fighter V? I don't care. She's the best.
Starting point is 00:07:39 Those resets where you fucking, you call out Yamato on Twitter and everyone's like, oh my god, he's watching. Motogatarian. I'm like, what are you guys doing? Isn't that the one where they marry their sister? No. And the end users are like quoting Virgil. What are you talking about, Shelby?
Starting point is 00:08:02 No, now's not the time. Yeah, you call her out. You go into her EX, Peach, like Bustbomber. And then the timing creates a reset with Nadeshka. She has an awesome combo with Nadeshka too. That shit's great, but the basic version of calling in her tag partner Nadeshka is so effective. It's so fucking effective.
Starting point is 00:08:22 I had a 10 game streak. Keep in mind, this is day one tech that people will instantly learn. But you hit the button and people just stop moving immediately. They walk. And you throw them. Yeah. And you get it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:38 We saw it with, like, Kamofina was displaying some strats with that. And there was at least one match where he called it out. The guy stopped moving. He was like, thanks for the free throw. Yeah. It's fucking great. But people who figure it out, you can't just call her out. Just calling her out is useless.
Starting point is 00:08:51 You have to use her mid-combo. Because if you just call her out, they will EX something you. Yeah. And go right through Nadeshka and plow through. And if they do it early enough, she won't come out. So what you have to do is you have to do hard punch, Nadeshko, EX, like the Rekka. Yeah. And that'll all combo.
Starting point is 00:09:10 And then you can do the anti-air grab after Nadeshko bounces them into the air. Okay. So the first time we made one over and got against each other with Mika, we just sat there and just held skill the whole time. Yeah. It's long. I'm gonna make this look cool. Dude, it takes so long.
Starting point is 00:09:26 But it does 100% damage to throw. Wait, what? 100%. 10 seconds and it does 100% damage. It's so long. It's like a turnaround punch? Yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:37 But it is 100%. With a regular throw. We can hear it. We can hear it. There's no way. Yeah, she's yelling zero visual thing. There's a little bubble every couple seconds. There's a little, someone invisible burst where dust flies out.
Starting point is 00:09:52 No, I've seen that. But what I mean is, was there a visual indicator that buffs the throw animation? No. No. It's just the damage. And it's significant. If you get one of them out, which is maybe five seconds, it's significant. So there's moments where if you dizzy, it's like, do I want to get two or three buffs
Starting point is 00:10:08 on my throw or do I want to go for a combo? I was using it and I was seriously having a hard time finding practical applications for it because you can't use it as a focus attack. No, it's way too slow for that. It's mechanically or ideologically similar, but it's really bad. She has to throw it at the end. It's basically so you can take a fireball. So they can't just take a fireball to get you out.
Starting point is 00:10:30 I was watching some of the guys at the event. You can, if you're really good, get two fireballs with it. Yeah, but it's throwing the mic just so so that it hits the second round. But exactly, it's for fireballs. It's not for taking hits. They have to wonder if someone was peeking at Beowulf when he was going on. Oh, yeah. The mechanic is very much...
Starting point is 00:10:53 It has to be because Japanese Rusty is not really a lot of mic skills and things like that. It doesn't really happen, so... I asked Combo about this specifically and he said the lead producer or director is the biggest fan of wrestling American and Japanese. And he's a massive fan. He watches every WWE event. That makes it a stunner. Maybe he just knows.
Starting point is 00:11:16 That's the stunner, yeah. Because they just know the mic performing thing is just like that's a Beowulf height meter thing. It's crazy. But that's what I want from a professional wrestler. Yeah, so I was having a hard time finding applications for it because you're better off going for a setup light, honestly. You're better off just trying to get a good setup on them when they wake up. Yeah, and no one's going to let you sit there idle.
Starting point is 00:11:35 No, exactly. You only get two or three levels to it at max. I think if you get hit, you lose the buff. I'm sure it'll improve before release. Maybe. And what I kind of forgot to take a look at was how much trigger she gains each time. You get one Nadeshiko per match. Okay.
Starting point is 00:11:56 Like getting two is unbelievable. It's not like, okay, because you can get two Charlie teleports. Yeah, you might be able to get two Nadeshikos if you use it instantly with the right amount of health, but I've never got two in a match. Absorbing a hit with the mic out, though, gives you some trigger. Yeah. But it's so dangerous that you shouldn't do it. Is it like a third of a pip?
Starting point is 00:12:14 It's like getting two Ultras in a match. Okay, okay. It's not going to be easy or reliable at all to do. Nikali. So Nikali's fucking weird. Is he a shodo? No, he's Wolverine. He's what we thought.
Starting point is 00:12:26 Because he looks like a shodo in the way people are spacing him. Super heavy Wolverine. Okay. With a dive kick. And a command throw for fear. The command throw was so bad, dude. It has no range. It has one, like, the light version has one crouching jab's push block amount of range.
Starting point is 00:12:43 And every single other one, you have to be touching the character. Fuck, it's SF4 Makoto. It is for super deep dash pressure. But it takes every other tool except fireball. What about EX throw? The EX throw does not have that. It has the light range and does more damage and a bounce. That's fine.
Starting point is 00:12:59 Okay. As long as there's a fear, like, move, you know, the idea that it has bad enemies or something. His normal's aren't great. Alright. I knew it. I fucking knew it. His normal's aren't great, but his damage on his moves is really high. His special is like cover almost every application.
Starting point is 00:13:15 His dash is great and can be commode into off of, like, a low sweep. His stomp thing is crazy. It's the pressure tool. You have so much plus on block with that thing. His stomp thing's not as crazy as Vega's hard roll. So we had to test it. Because he did Vega's hard roll and then a normal. And I was like, how do I fight that?
Starting point is 00:13:36 How do I fight that? So we said, okay. Let's back up a second. So this is Vega. His roll is now motion. Yeah. This is Vega without the claw. And the difference with the claw is the claw has better damaging pokes.
Starting point is 00:13:48 You can't special cancel any of them. Yeah. So without the claw, you can special cancel everything. Yeah. And his low medium is fantastic. His low medium punch. So I did low medium punch, hard roll. Which, and then he tried to jab me out of it and my strong medium punch beat him.
Starting point is 00:14:08 So we said, okay, we have to test this. You cannot punish his hard roll. The hard roll on block. It's safe on every button. What the fuck? With Nikali or in general? With Vega. He was doing jabs and they were not in.
Starting point is 00:14:22 Yeah. You're plus. You're plus. On block. My hard roll. It's insane. That's something you have to learn. It's like a Bison Scissor Kick then.
Starting point is 00:14:31 It's the worst it's ever been. Wow. So Vega is unbelievable in this version. His ultra is so good. His V Trigger and Ultra are both amazing. Yeah, his V Trigger and Super are both amazing. It's a biotic arm in omnidirectional. The V Trigger is you hit any move and do it right away.
Starting point is 00:14:48 And just take the nab. Did they win from anywhere on the screen? Do it. Yeah. And the fucking critical art, it hits on the way up just like his old one. Yeah. And the flash is until he gets to the spot in the air. And the spot is actually in an ambiguous cross-up position.
Starting point is 00:15:12 The user is still going to be moving because the flash hasn't happened yet. So he can cross himself up. So by default it hits just in front of the player. But if the ultra flash hasn't happened yet, the player is still going to be moving. And the flash hits and it's so fast after the flash it's like are you in the ambiguous cross-up position? It's going to get hit. So you have to, and it has the same animation prior to that as his regular wall dive.
Starting point is 00:15:40 Okay. Which means every time he wall dives you have to be ready for an ambiguous cross-up and when it hits it does big damage. It's crazy. So there was a version of that in 4 where there's a Vega player from here that will show you how this fucking works. And it's like there's a one frame moment where he can do his ultra on someone's wake up and make it 4 or back.
Starting point is 00:16:00 Yeah. The timing is impractical and it sounds like here. This is big. This is every time. It is super with emotion and these properties is so, I get it every time. Like when he has full meter, every time he jumps you have to be conscious and block. Yeah. Do not anti just block.
Starting point is 00:16:18 Which means that if he goes for like every time. Exactly. They change the input on his dive so that you can actively choose more easily the swipe or the grab. Like grab input. Yeah. And now swipe is swipe and without the claw you can do his god damn, he's doing a drop on the floor as a command grab.
Starting point is 00:16:38 Yeah. And it's near Armica level. It's amazing. It's really, really, really strong. How's your range on that? It's good. It's really good. Vega's going to be popular and it's great finally.
Starting point is 00:16:48 Are we seeing low damage, low life? No. Wow. He's just really good. Every character is really good. I mean it's still pre-released. Like we were playing it and it's like Vega has like, Mika has grappler downsides. Vega has nothing.
Starting point is 00:17:05 There's no like his claw version. His normals are amazing. His skill is amazing. It's a focus attack but you're completely 100% invincible. You're not even there during the animation. This is a two bar right? Two bar trigger. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:18 So now Nicali, because when I looked at the trailer I'm like he has so many tools that I bet you his buttons side. His buttons are not good enough. That's what it is. His fierces are flat out terrible. His medium kick in almost every state is like his best tool. So what I was able to see is crouching medium is what you do to confirm it to his moves. That's what cancels.
Starting point is 00:17:39 Yeah, that's the only one. And that's the only cancelable button? No, that's the only viable one. Crouching medium punch and medium kick are the two only cancel buttons. But strong no way. Sorry, fierce no way. And the whole like his berserker barrage type thing goes right through any far and wide. You know this, but like when you hit V trigger with Nicali, nothing decreases it and it lasts forever.
Starting point is 00:18:01 Yeah, we knew that. It's a primitive dragon install. Which is why I assumed his buttons were bad. Because that's such a strong skill. I was speaking to one of the Capcom guys. I'm like that's crazy. He's like his meter generation falls apart when his V trigger is open. That's the other thing.
Starting point is 00:18:15 Okay. Because they kept saying the downside is that you can't do a V reversal. And I'm like they can't be the only downside. You build almost no meter. You have no meter. So if you pop his V trigger super badly. You have what meter you have left? You're going to be using that meter.
Starting point is 00:18:27 Yeah, it decreases or stops. The generation decreases like 50% if not more. You're still kind of increasing your meter. But like 50% decrease in meter gain or something. Like it's pretty big. That makes sense thematically because he's using it to power himself or whatever. So then it's a combo extender, really. Yeah, you have to make sure you use it at the right time.
Starting point is 00:18:47 And he is a substantially better baseline character in that situation. What was the attitude in general at the Capcom booth? Everyone was fucking so thrilled. No problem. The only problem was that you couldn't press X to start the build. It was press options. And everyone was like oh there's an options button on a stick. And then people would hit the lock button.
Starting point is 00:19:07 And then even people who knew to hit start couldn't figure it out because they hit the lock button. So start didn't work. But the sentiment was fantastic. Game is amazing. Any matches against any celebrities? For us? I don't think so. We played for a really good time.
Starting point is 00:19:24 We were too late. And then we ended up sticking on the free play loser side of the things. I watched Gootex play a bit. But I mean... Did you touch Ken? I did touch Ken. Yes. His tattoo is amazing in the air.
Starting point is 00:19:37 It's a burn kick. It's a fucking Viper burn kick. Dude, the changes to his target combo is crazy. I don't even know what you're supposed to do off of it. It's his target combo. It's the same as his old one, right? It now launches you into the air. And then it's like follow it out.
Starting point is 00:19:53 And I'm like every time it happened I would freeze. What am I supposed to fucking do? Run cancel. Run cancel. What am I supposed to do? His run is amazing. It's really good. It's super good.
Starting point is 00:20:02 You hold it and get that step kick and knock down. And it's like this easy, easy, great footsie tool. Shunners is probably the character we walked away from being the most blown away by. So Combo Fiend said he thinks Ryu is the best right now. Chun-Li was the hardest to fight if you were playing someone who knew. Because at least with Ryu you kind of know what you're fighting. But lots of people play Chun-Li. Chun-Li's normals are insane.
Starting point is 00:20:28 The version we played is more updated than the beta version. And I don't know if it's the same in that. Her normals have every strength they had in Third Strike and then some. Like they have every good property they ever had. Fucking Peter, man. Her kicks are quarter circle forward. Yes, quarter circle forward. I was talking to Liam about I wonder how easy the hit confirm into Super was.
Starting point is 00:20:54 And before I finish the sentence, I have done it. Crouch, medium kick, super. So someone discovered this weekend that you can do a Hadoken motion. Then you go up and then down in medium kick. And what happens is she jumps and immediately cancels it into air. Air kicks. And then that's a pressure tool right off the bat that'll beat throws. And then can combo if you land down on the ground.
Starting point is 00:21:16 Like Kami's Instant Dive Kick. Exactly. Instant Dive Kick. But it's free. This is easily my favorite by far version of Chun-Li ever. She's awesome. Well the motion is what brings it all together. Her V-Trigger with the jump changes is really hard to use.
Starting point is 00:21:29 And you kind of have to use it predictively. Like you kind of have to see someone doing something and be like, Okay, I need to be there now. And then do it. Oh, you mean skill? V-Scale, yeah. With the big jump, exactly. Her trigger is amazing.
Starting point is 00:21:40 But the low jump angle, right, in theory should be used in the same way it's used in like CBS 2 or any of the SDK games where it's like, It's so hard to deal with short jump pressure. It's tricky, but if you do it out of the blue and like it's not really a good time for it, then you can adapt because you're like, Okay, now her jump is like that. And you're always watching for it because that's what the player wants to do. And there's two cross-ups that you can use it as well.
Starting point is 00:22:02 You really have to use it as like, I need it now. I need it now. Like the player is doing something dumb, I need to do it now. The game is astounding. It's so amazing. Awesome, awesome. Yeah, I mean, I got my matches online, but they were all underwater. That's great.
Starting point is 00:22:16 Great, great, great. You know, and like, it's like, it's almost impossible to lose at this point because you're fighting A underwater and B. People are just, you know, a matchmaker. But I was really hanging on for more footage of specific... Birdie was almost totally unplayed at everything we saw. He was probably the least popular alongside Nash, I guess. Now that I got my hands on him, the firing died a little bit.
Starting point is 00:22:41 He's weird. Probably after Birdie, the least played was Bison, but the people didn't... I think it was Nash. Nash, yeah. Okay, then after that, it didn't be Bison. But the thing with Bison is that... No, then Kami. Oh, you're totally right.
Starting point is 00:22:54 You see a single Kami. It was Birdie, Nash, Kami, Bison. Because I saw two Bisons the whole time, but that's more than the others. But again, the incentive is skewed to pick the characters that are new that are not going to be public right now. Or Ryu or Ken. That's true. Okay, there were moments where I look at the booth and there was three matches starting
Starting point is 00:23:12 and it was Ken, Ken, Ken, Ken, Ken, Ryu. And I was like, what the fuck? So here's the thing... Everybody died. Here's the thing about Bison that was fucking me up for a while. I don't know if they changed this in the beta, but I'm pretty sure they're going to keep it like this. His psycho inferno is now in motion. The fire thing.
Starting point is 00:23:28 Wait. Yeah. It's quarter circle back punch now. It's really strong. Yes! His normals are untouchable. You know what's sad about the decreased range on his standing roundhouse? Guess what?
Starting point is 00:23:44 It still has that range now. It's just an invisible hitbox in front of him. It's already... Because it's a tool that doesn't combo it to anything unless you're a V-Trigger with Bison. So making it in motion gets rid of that charge. And his crouching strong punch has a hitbox that like goes all the way above his head and behind him. It beats every single thing.
Starting point is 00:24:07 That reminds me. Mika, one of her best tools, her crouching fierce punch is the best. It's like a Khan's crouching hard where he reaches forward and headbutts. It's an elbow dive and it's almost perfectly safe. And you can do a bunch of... It's not safe at all. It's not safe at all. It's safer if you edge it.
Starting point is 00:24:28 It's only safe if you hit it at the very end like with the Khan's slide. Then people were sleeping. It is all safe. All slides you have to hit the tip. If you don't hit the tip then you can super punish it. Yeah, exactly. But if you hit the very tip before her Khan flips over immediately then you X-Crab and it's safe. I'm glad that Mika's headbutt is back as well.
Starting point is 00:24:48 Yeah, and it's great. Her headbutt's back and her low-medium kick is still a good anti-air. You remember she goes down and she does the like scissor kick thing or whatever it is. It's still a great anti-air from a distance. Can you guys tell we're excited for Street Fighter V? A little bit. Her low-medium punch is airborne. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:06 And you just throw invincible. Yeah. And in high profiles as well. You've won all over your face. Oh, what the hell? Why is that? I don't know. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:25:15 You're thinking about Mika too hard. Yeah, I guess so. You're bleeding all over your... Hold on, let me get that for you. Seriously? Yeah. What the fuck? You're bleeding all over your head.
Starting point is 00:25:24 Oh, jeez. That's fucked up. Thank you. Okay. I have a band-aid, maybe. No, it's okay. I'm wearing my house. I can just get him a band-aid.
Starting point is 00:25:32 Okay. I'll get you a band-aid. But Mika's amazing. She's the best. Cool. Now you can look like a tough guy with a band-aid on your face. Yeah, I know. I should carry one around just in case.
Starting point is 00:25:41 Yeah. For all times. I'm really glad to hear that. All right. That's Street Fighter V. We need... We can go for parents. We can keep going.
Starting point is 00:25:49 And we... Because we've waited for so long. When we start talking about the costumes, but for now we're going to move on. Fighting games in general, at a con, they're very easy to play. Yeah. There's not a huge line. You just sit there and round and round. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:26:02 Right? Yeah. So, like, we're only at E3. It's like, what would we play the most? Killer Inc. and Dive Kick. Because they're the only fighting games there at the time. Yeah. And then, at the other pack, Pat and I went over to Guilty Gear with a group of like five,
Starting point is 00:26:15 six guys. Guilty Gear is a bit harder because there's only one set up there. So, they had... They also had two Street Fighter V setups at the Sony booth, but the TVs were super uncalibrated and super laggy, so I played one match on it. And I was like, even with no line, I don't want to play this version. For me, the second, like, most impressive thing was something that I didn't initially think would be the most impressive thing.
Starting point is 00:26:39 And oh, you're putting the Band-Aid on for me. Oh. Oh. Enjoy that. Pat's touching her face. Enjoy that goo shit. Thanks, Pat. You're a sweetheart.
Starting point is 00:26:48 Fuck off. For me, one of the games I really wanted to play at the convention was Riggs. Gorilla, Cambridge's new game. They made Killzone Mercenary, and they were kind of like nobody up until then, as far as I'm concerned. And Killzone Mercenary was like, wow, you fucking did this under harsh technical constraints. And Riggs is an arena mech shooter. Yes.
Starting point is 00:27:10 This is the Morpheus line. Yeah, exactly. The Morpheus line, by the way, was impossible. They let 18 people in the morning. Every event, dude. But I got there in the morning before anyone else. I just waited an hour for it, and it was great. Really great first game on Morpheus.
Starting point is 00:27:28 Morpheus works super good. I also, I tried 11 VR demos, so I'm just going to ball them all into one here. You did it all. The great VR review, if you will. How many were Morpheus? Sorry? How many were Morpheus? Two were Morpheus.
Starting point is 00:27:42 One was Oculus, and the remainder were, no, that's two were Oculus. One of them was in the Indie booth, and the remainder were on Samsung Gear VR. Yeah, by comparison to Lame, I only got to hold one of the Morpheus demos. One of the Morpheus demos. Yeah, exactly. Matt, sorry, do you have any ice breakers or a gum or anything? No, I don't, sorry. I actually just ate like four pieces of gum.
Starting point is 00:28:00 Got the taste of blood in your mouth? No, I ate them all. So like, Riggs was just a really good arena shooter that was like, oh yeah, you can do fast-paced shooters in VR. Totally. Left stick was to move and strafe and everything, and looking around was to look around. Right stick did not touch that at all. So you'd look in a direction, and then it would slowly, like it would recenter your vertical
Starting point is 00:28:23 tank in that direction, you know what I mean? And it was really fast. One of the mechs had double jumps, like really just fast-paced stuff, super good. Played really well. What's gameplay similar to anything? If anything, like a really fast version of Steel Battalion, I guess. Because you're in a mech that like recenters itself in that kind of way. But it's fast.
Starting point is 00:28:45 Like, I don't know, like a slow version of Unreal Tournament. But the only way to score points is to kill someone and enter like an on-fire state and then jump through this big hoop in the air to cash the point in. It worked really well. Does it? Yeah. Because that sounds like some potential PlayStation All-Stars. No, it's great.
Starting point is 00:29:06 There's other modes. There's other modes. That's just their main one. They said there's like regular deathmatch and shit, too. But one of the mechs, the defense mech, has an air blast just to knock people away from the goal. Like it's all set up around this sport of rigs, because it's a sport in-universe. The play is really, really good.
Starting point is 00:29:24 I'm really excited to get more hands-on time with that. The other demos I played... Sorry, was it a multiplayer demo? It was multiplayer with six people. Yeah, exactly. I got first place and trounced everyone, which was also a good feeling. It means that your video game palace is going to transfer into the new VR future. Well, it also means that my impressions that are glowing may be a little bit skewed.
Starting point is 00:29:48 Because I fucking crushed everyone. There were people on the other team who got zero kills, so it was bad. The Samsung Gear VR, I always forget its name. Samsung Gear VR is a head-mounted display device that you snap a Samsung Galaxy into, right? So I went there. That was the one with the shortest line, obviously. And I tried the demo.
Starting point is 00:30:15 The hardware works great. The gyroscope in the phone was more than enough, and it was tracking really well and stuff. Doesn't feel weird to be staring at a screen that's not like... It was fine. The same type of... It was fine. I could only advocate it, though, to someone who already has a Samsung Galaxy. Because $800 for that is not...
Starting point is 00:30:34 Because you need a phone and a device, right? So I couldn't really advocate that to anyone else. I think it's $150 to $200. Well, that's fine. You already have a phone. Yeah, so if you already have it, for sure. It used a little proprietary controller that had these little slide pads, like the 3DS. But it was actually pretty good.
Starting point is 00:30:52 But the problem I ran into was the same problem I ran into when I sampled the MOGA game controller. You remember that one? It's a game controller for mobile devices. And when I play on the UYA, it's the same problem where, for some reason, Android devices and wireless controllers seem to have connectivity issues after a little while. And so in my 10-minute demo, when I eventually got relaxed and I was holding the controller in a relaxed, as far away from my body position, which can't have been more than 3 feet from the Gear VR, I started seeing latency and dropped inputs.
Starting point is 00:31:26 And it wasn't until I pulled my arms back up that it went back. So that may have been a result of you being at Pax, which is one of the most signal-intense locations ever. Especially considering there are phones and stuff, and there's seven devices right next to me. So maybe that was just early hardware at a convention, but that was something I noticed. And that was something that was similarly exhibited with the UYA when I used it at home with no other devices, which is also an Android device with wireless controllers.
Starting point is 00:31:52 So what was the demo? It was five or six games on display. I played four of them. Two of them were just dolled-up mobile games to, like, hey, we can ship it on VR as well. So they were kind of nothing. It was like a top-down dungeon explorer that was just... Oh, it was in 3D. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:10 And the other one was a top-down, like, Zelda-like game by Gunfire Games, the X Darksiders guys. Right. It wasn't that good, unfortunately. But that's their Gear VR game. I'm actually excited for their Oculus game with the Night and stuff. That one looks a lot better. The other one was one where you control a turret from first person, and it was kind of nothing because the gimmick was you can use your head.
Starting point is 00:32:33 And the best demo they had on display for the Gear VR was Hitman Go, which had no need for the VR. Which fucking thing at all. The killer demo of Gear VR was the OS space where, when you have it snapped in and stuff, you enter this room where you're sitting on a stool and you can look around the room and stuff, and all your games are hovering. That was the best bit of the Gear VR. So I didn't do my research. Maybe there are killer apps out there that I don't know about, you know,
Starting point is 00:33:04 but the ones on display didn't impress me at all. Did you see the whale demo on it? No, not at all. So, like, exactly. Like, there might be other software that's actually really good, but the software I sampled was, like, not compelling whatsoever. So we'll see. But it worked.
Starting point is 00:33:19 It worked. So if there is good software on there, I would probably recommend it to someone who already has a Galaxy. And it was the most comfortable of the three. Against all odds, it was by far the most comfortable. It had a super padded front section. Not the lightest, the heaviest. But it was the most comfortable. Oculus was super comfortable.
Starting point is 00:33:40 They were all comfortable. So I want to jump in on here because I'm the person who gets fucking sick and migraines from headphones. Yeah, so he tried Morpheus only. And was, like, legitimately worried by the way that it looks. You know, I was like, this thing's going to kill me. And I put it on. And I put on the big, heavy headphones that they had there. And nothing.
Starting point is 00:33:58 Absolutely not. Totally comfortable. It correctly places all the weight on the bridge of your nose and around your eyes, not on your temples, not on your head even. And is super comfy. I could easily wear that for hours. Yeah. No problem.
Starting point is 00:34:12 So Riggs was my killer app experience where I was like, look, it fucking works. And you can play an action game and sick. I thought it was great. And then the next day, I got in line for the London Heist getaway demo. And that was actually the watershed moment where I was like, fuck. Like, this is VR. So the demo was, imagine, Morpheus, made by Sony London Studios. It's like lock stock and two smoking barrels.
Starting point is 00:34:44 You know that movie? Yeah, exactly. So the getaway. Yeah. And it was in a getaway chase scene. So you're in a van and you've got the big, tough white British guy driving the van and stuff. And at some point, some Nair duels come up and he runs down a motorcycler, smashes in the window. And then an Uzi.
Starting point is 00:35:02 Same dash for Barry or something. Maybe, I don't know. But an Uzi lands on the dash and people start coming by and he's like, deal with it. Solve the problem. And so you hold, it's two move controllers, right? And just like on the PS3, the move controllers, they work super good. Like, the detection is almost one-to-one. It's perfect.
Starting point is 00:35:21 Like, they're perfect for it. And so the trigger button was just to flex your hands. Right, because you had two hands exactly. So I reach one of them out and I flexed and I grabbed the Uzi and I was like, oh, it's working. And I start shooting it. And I was like, this is working really, really well. I was really impressed. And it was very good looking, very pretty, very linear.
Starting point is 00:35:42 It was a rail shooter, right? But it was working really good. And I ran out of ammo and I'm like, fuck, what am I doing? I look around and I open the glove compartment and there's a clip in there. And I grab it and I put it in and I was like, oh, it's working. Like, there's not a reload button. You actually have to do it. Load the clip into the bottom.
Starting point is 00:35:58 And like, it sounds like such a nothing thing. But it worked. And I haven't had such like a joie de vie experience where I was really like smiling. Open mouth smile. It was so fun. I had such a blast playing it. It was only like five minutes long, but it was just incredibly fun. Didn't feel gimmicky and you felt like it was...
Starting point is 00:36:15 No, it's actually so gimmicky that that's what it is. Like this game in particular, it's the Wii all over again, right? But it works, right? Like, across all sorts of demos, all the input devices, unlike the Wii Remote, work perfectly. So what they need to do. For example, I got one of them. I got to play Battlezone. Yeah, I didn't get to try that one.
Starting point is 00:36:38 It is very simple. It is Battlezone. You know Battlezone? It's a... It's like Spectre VR or... You're a fucking tank and you're an arena and you're moving around and shooting. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was by Rebellion, by the way.
Starting point is 00:36:49 Yeah, it uses a regular ass DualShock 4 with no motion component whatsoever. And it controls exactly as you would think. Left stick moves, right stick turns the mech, shoot, etc. And your head is within your own cockpit. And it played really well as just an arena tank game. But the inclusion of just being able to like check various parts of my dash for threats or information or tutorial messages or whatever. And like I talked about before, the proprioception, like the feeling of being in it when it's moving around
Starting point is 00:37:27 was really intense. I did not expect it to be that strong. But it worked perfectly and that is just a regular ass normal video game that was dramatically improved by just being in VR. Just being able to look up and see all the fucking doggies and checking my radar, which is normally relatively out of view. But you'll look down to find your radar shit and like wear threats. I think one of the most like cool things about it is experiencing one-to-one motion with the camera for the first time.
Starting point is 00:37:58 Because with a right stick, you know, the camera moves in like fairly straight directions wherever you press it. But feeling all the subtleties of movement and looking around. I'm hugely impressed. Well, that's a try super hot. That's what was really nice. It was dodging a bullet like by turning your head sideways at a weird angle. And getting to look at stuff. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, that was in that demo too. No, no, in the getaway, London Heist, you could use your hand and open the car door and like shoot out a peek at a weird angle.
Starting point is 00:38:31 It was really like that was the one. I'll say there's one downside to all of this. As I beat my devil before Liam Beaton at London Heist, and I walked by and saw him in the exact moment that he was doing the car door shit, and boy did he look like a fucking jackass. Absolutely. Literally just sitting around like that. And with your mouth gaping open.
Starting point is 00:38:56 Can VR get over the geek factor? No, it's gonna take a while. That fucking magazine cover did enough damage. But like incredibly fun. I was incredibly surprised. This particular one, the London Heist, whatever game they end up shipping it into, because they're gonna, it's gonna be a linear six hour hallway. But damn.
Starting point is 00:39:20 It'll be a blast. They are really showing you what you can do. And it feels really good. And I just want to play more about it. And the other London Heist demo involved using your hands to move mechanical parts around and wrench things off of stuff. I didn't get to play that one. But it was a different experience, but still using hands as the game.
Starting point is 00:39:43 It's great to see that in this super early stage shit still looks so cool. Yeah. But I was gonna say, do you get the impression that everything you saw and everything kind of described all seems like linear nothing kind of stuff? That is cool. But that also was in a huge open space. No, what I mean is that like, yeah, no, I know what you mean. But Riggs was the one that defied that.
Starting point is 00:40:06 The games will be simpler because the power required to shoot like, in some cases these games were displaying the image three times at 60 frames a second. Well, it's just more like when the time comes to make a 20 hour narrative. We're far away from that shit. Yeah. I'd say we're a full console generation away from that shit. But we'll get there because the early stuff, even the early stuff is a blast. This is like the first wave of software from big companies, right?
Starting point is 00:40:31 These are mini games, basically. Well, RK games. Well, RK games. Riggs was an arena game. RK games. RK games is way more active. It's all with liability, right? I mean, it just kind of like, like you said, it's kind of early,
Starting point is 00:40:43 but I just kind of get the feeling that this will kind of maybe be sort of like the move thing where there's like two or three things that are interesting and all the rest are kind of things. It's got to catch fire. Turn your head and that's about it. No, it does have to catch fire. That's the thing. It has to work. It can't.
Starting point is 00:40:59 There has to be. Catch fire. Well, we were talking about it and saying, yeah, it has to have its public watershed moment where it gets its call of duty for or whatever. Or we sports. Or we sports. Or it goes crazy. But like, again, the experience, I can't excise it enough.
Starting point is 00:41:13 It didn't just feel like when I got my hands on PlayStation Move and it was like, yeah. It's better than the leader votes. At least in terms of gimmick. It was the experience when you first used a Wii remote and you were just like, oh my God. I'd say it's stronger and it also has way more room to actually grow because the inputs work. And you can use different types of inputs. Yeah. It's like much like the Wii though.
Starting point is 00:41:34 Like it needs to actually. The example I said to him is like, this is not going to replace like Phantom Pain. There's no way. TV games are going to be so much farther ahead to attack than this stuff for years and years. But maybe next gen, you will get like a Phantom Pain level game with this shit. Concerning. That would be mind blowing. Concerning like actual products like, you know, Oculus has Insomniac making that one game
Starting point is 00:41:58 and Gunfire games are making their dungeon crawling, whatever it is. Sony's investing in rigs and whatever London heist turns into. And they just opened a new studio to make a Studio Ghibli-esque game at Sony Computer Entertainment in America. So, you know, companies are doing it and Summer Lesson looks like a blast too. So, I don't know. So like, I know that like, you can't really make the objective comparison until you're playing the same software on all of them. But from what you did touch, what was your takeaway in terms of like, who was doing it better? Okay.
Starting point is 00:42:33 So the takeaway in terms of who's good and who's bad, nobody's bad. None of them are bad. They are all great. Even the Gear VR, the hardware works great. None of them are bad choices. Like, this isn't the kind of thing where you see like a game like has like a five FPS deficit on one console and people go, ah, that's a bad version. No, they are all good universally.
Starting point is 00:42:59 Oculus and Gear VR were slightly more comfortable than Morpheus. But Morpheus was, as you said Pat, incredibly shockingly, more comfortable than your cap, you said. It's more comfortable than my cap. Like, they are all great. And my cap's pretty comfy. None of none of them had besides Gear VR's controller. We're talking about like the difference between a 90 and a 95. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:24 Okay. Besides the Gear VR's controller sync issue, none of them had perceivable issues. And like the difference in screen quality between the Oculus and the Morpheus was imperceptible. It was imperceptible. On paper, you could write an objective difference, completely imperceptible, two inches from your eyeballs. It's just gonna have to come down to like a big public, like, Zip-Watership moment, if you will. Yeah, you remember, you remember what it's like, you think about like, the worst case scenario is like 3D TVs, where it's like, here's new technology, no one gives a shit.
Starting point is 00:43:58 Like, for Oculus, it's... There's no reasons to give a shit. For Oculus, it's... Well, no. For Morpheus, like, they have a clear path, right? They build Morpheus, they market it to people who own a PS4. It's a peripheral for an established person, yes. And they're gonna ship sell a public variant on that version.
Starting point is 00:44:13 But for Oculus, I don't know what the direct path is, so they just need to really invest in software. Do you guys remember those Kinect stores that Microsoft opens? Yeah. They need to do that. Yeah. They need to do that so bad. Yeah. Because like, I kind of didn't give a shit, but I just wanted to know.
Starting point is 00:44:28 Yeah. And I put it on, I was like, this is gonna be for real. This is gonna be for real. You have to convert it to... Pat walked in super ambivalent and came out like... Just like... Not like glowing, because I played the simplest of them all, but just like, yep. Yep, this is gonna be a thing.
Starting point is 00:44:42 This is gonna be a big deal. It's... It makes me... I was excited to play Riggs, but it makes me universally excited for consumer releases, because I just... I want to play more of this. Do you know, by the way, do you guys know what this is? Yeah, that's Harada's summer lesson.
Starting point is 00:44:58 Yeah. Oh, love it. We were saying, we were saying, we hope Harada is the father of the girl in summer lesson. Yeah. And like, when you try to get in close to the electric windfist. Yeah. You admit she was used to that. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:45:12 Or he's the player character. Yeah. Yeah, one of the other. I want to hear his Brian Fury laugh, but through him. Like, when companies did the right things and got around the couple rules of VR, like, don't have a player's hands on the screen, unless they're one-to-one, something like that. Make it run good as well. You know, something like that.
Starting point is 00:45:31 Like, they were really good impressions. I take it no one's doubling me and my roommate's stomach. No, they shouldn't. And one other thing that... I mean, I went to a lot of other things. One other thing that I went to that I think was particularly noteworthy that I forced other people to go to was the Astral Lounge at the... All right, I can do it.
Starting point is 00:45:52 ...Cecilane, Novengent, Barclay Tube. I can tip that off my list now. All right. So, they had two playable demos set up in front of their booth. They were awesome guys to meet. And they had two demos. They had their gameplay demo, which was like shooting around. And they had a story demo, which was like an early section of the game walking around town.
Starting point is 00:46:12 And you got to be a DJ. And you got to jam your anime music. And it was really great. There was a point where it literally told you to roll your face across the keyboard to DJ. It was a blast. But the real secret blast of the convention, probably the most unique cool experience from the entire convention, was the Astral Lounge at their booth. So, they had cut their...
Starting point is 00:46:37 You know how like an indie booth space isn't huge? They get like 10 feet by 8 feet or something? They had cut their booth in half. And the back was a room that was surrounded by blankets. And you'd go outside, and you'd sit down at a table, and a wizard would reveal himself from behind these curtains that pulled aside. And the room was dimly lit, bright enough that you could see stuff. And you would gesture to a pair of headphones.
Starting point is 00:47:03 You'd put them on. And it had some mood music to kind of cover up the con noise. And then you heard his voice through a voice converter. It wasn't pre-recorded. He was talking to you, but through a voice converter. And then he prompted you. There's a chessboard on the table. And he prompted you to...
Starting point is 00:47:19 Can you solve my impossible checkmate? Can you solve this infernal checkmate? And it was this insane checkmate. It's inescapable. There was no way out. It's completely inescapable. And you do a move, and then there was different things he was looking for in that move he revealed to me later. Either you move a white piece.
Starting point is 00:47:38 Which I tried and failed. Yeah. Or you do nothing and you admit defeat. Or you take a piece off the board. You take the king off the board. Or you take a black piece and complete the checkmate. Those are the four things he was looking for. Without telling you what side you're playing, you just assume you're white.
Starting point is 00:47:57 Because you're completing the checkmate, right? And after that, he tells you about your move. You know, what a futile move or whatever. And he slams it all off the table. And pulls the chess board apart. And there's a screen under it with his digital counterpart on the screen. And he asks you to input some info. So like your name, your date of birth, stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:48:21 And then he takes the screen and he asks you questions. Your father asks you to drink a glass of milk for your bones. What do you do? None of the answers were drink the milk. What was the one you picked was like, Suscept to his influence? That was one of them. I picked pretend to drink the milk, but pour it into a plant. Spin it out into a plant.
Starting point is 00:48:48 And Pat got one. Your father tells you to shuck a bunch of corn on the table by the time he comes on. Do you shuck the corn knowing you will not enjoy a kernel of your labor? Do you make a corn person out of the husks in order to fool your father? Do you get the gang over and have a good old shucking party? Or do you run away from home? You're a b-baller and your basketball coach is really hot. And she praises a guy for his average moves when yours are way hotter.
Starting point is 00:49:22 What do you do to gain her attention? Just a long series of questions. Me and Liam did it. Austin did it. Almost none of us had any overlap. And then he prompts you to a gumball machine. But instead of the glass thing, it's basketball. And he prompts you to it and he explains what gum is. And then he says, but this is not the type of gum I'm looking for today.
Starting point is 00:49:52 I want the gum that is you. It is produced for me, the gumball that is your spirit. And he prompts you to pull a gumball and hold it in front of him. And if you don't hold it, he'll tell you, hold it up in front of me so I can see, ah, what color is the gumball that is your soul? You tell him the color. What is the flavor of the gumball that is your soul? You put it in your mouth and you give it a swing.
Starting point is 00:50:17 He didn't like it when I stuck it to the bottom on the table after. And you just go through this series. He pulls out tarot cards. There's an entire tarot card reading as part of this. There's a tarot card reading as a part of it. Can anyone light up for this thing? Well, not now because it packs us over. They might have only done 20 people the whole weekend.
Starting point is 00:50:37 Barely anyone got to do it. It was hard to set up because there was so much shit. There was the hand scan of tarot. Then the thing comes back and you have to scan your hand. And Austin tried to take his hand off the scanner and he slammed his hand back down onto the scanner and told him not to move because it's too dangerous. And then after a while you put your hands out and he sings a chant in albed. And then he puts your hands together because he's doing this too.
Starting point is 00:51:10 Is it the voice from the trailer? No, no, no. And then he grabs your hands and he puts them together into a praying motion and he moves them over to the skull on the side. And you pray and you pray. And unfortunately the strobe light and the smoke machine were broken. But they were supposed to start there. And then after a little bit of praying, the skull prints out a paper for you
Starting point is 00:51:33 that has a code for your character in Barclay 2. So what that event is? It was the character creator. So that is a live action recreation of the character creator. It was incredible. And he mentioned Barclay 2 and I was like, what does this fucking have to do with it? And he was like improv-ing too. Like if you do something a little bit off, he'd guide you back.
Starting point is 00:51:57 It wasn't a script, it wasn't pre-recorded. There was somewhat of a script. But like me and Taka and Boku no Upshun and Pat all got slightly different experiences. Straight up best thing at the show. Did you get to see your character? No. Because the character creator's not... We won't see it until the game comes out.
Starting point is 00:52:12 But then we can't use it for if we want to do Barclay because we have to show that shit to the people. When we inevitably do a video for it, we're going to both show off our created character. You got your receipt, right? Yeah, I got my receipts over there. We're going to both show off our... It's underneath my other tarot cards. Yeah, and then we'll be done. And there was a bit where it asks you like shit like choose your gender.
Starting point is 00:52:33 Male, female, dwarf. And then like two others and then a question mark. And I picked one and I noticed I could pick others. I picked like five genders for it. Oh, overlapping. Just like fucking all of them. All gender, exactly. Just like...
Starting point is 00:52:50 So it's so game of the show. Yes. Well, like I was talking with Taka and Austin while Pat was in. Right in front of us, we were literally talking about how it was like we will never experience something that unique and cool and unknown in our lives ever again. It was so unlike anything else. It was such an experience. It was made for you. And it's a handful of people.
Starting point is 00:53:13 Like just you and I. They did like... Apparently they did like four guys before I went in and then I invited those three. You told other people to go. Yeah, exactly. They can't have done more than like 20 because it took 40 minutes as well. Like it was heavy. And like the actual booth itself was like the game that you said you could just...
Starting point is 00:53:31 It was solid, yeah. It's fine, it's fine. It's terrible. How about the game? All their signs were Bristol board with black marker on them. And they were falling apart. And they were falling apart. And they made no effort to fix it.
Starting point is 00:53:43 They had a sign that said this is a respectable establishment. Absolutely no vagrants allowed. The Astral Lounge ad was like on the floor. Excellent. And again, Kukulain no Vengeance, Barclay 2 with the sign. It's not even the name of the game. Right, right, right. The game is just called Barclay 2.
Starting point is 00:54:02 And the title screen is Barclay 2 in Japanese. And then press start to continue the saga. Saga written like the Square Enix brand saga. Just like their sense of humor. We got confirmation that our favorite character will be returning in a starring role. He told me a little bit about like this one intensely TRC breaking section. That was amazing. I'm not going to spoil it.
Starting point is 00:54:28 He barely wanted to spoil it to me. The only reason he said it was because I said well I know the TRC is back to front. And it's doing cool things. Okay. They're going to have to figure that shit out. And I think you didn't get to meet George Kamakura or any of those fucking names. Oh man, when they played that trailer. Last night there was one that was stuck in my head that I kept saying because it was such a funny name.
Starting point is 00:54:52 Yeah, if you haven't seen their like FF7 spoof trailer, they had the costume there though. Great. And the cosplayer who made the costume was there and everything. Yeah, exactly. Let's take a quick word from our sponsors. How long do we have to wait before our internet stops being ugly? Mine's pretty ugly right now. I mean ever since like all those great website making tools of the 90s shut down, I guess forever.
Starting point is 00:55:19 What is something else that good you're going to come around? It's atrocious. What we have to put up with. My eyes burn every morning. Yeah. Just checking my email. I'm a little bit at a website right now and honestly I feel like I'm going to fucking die. I'm hanging out the weekly YouTube revision.
Starting point is 00:55:32 Right? Well what happened? What happened? What happened to good site design? It doesn't exist anymore right? What happened to even adequate site design? Where'd it go? You know?
Starting point is 00:55:44 Where'd it go? Everyone's just like copping out with like their neutrals and their minimalist ways when you can keep it classy and nice in other ways too. Keep it classy. I don't believe you. I think there's a way that you just don't know about Pat. I'm skeptical. What is that? What does it even be?
Starting point is 00:56:00 Squarespace. Dude what? Square... I... Sorry? I've heard about them. From us. That's correct.
Starting point is 00:56:08 What did us say? About Squarespace. We had some really good facts about it I believe. I was talking to us not too long ago. What did we have to say? And I believe that we told us that Squarespace is the place you go for professionally designed websites regardless of skill level, no coding required. Dude I remember me saying that. I was there.
Starting point is 00:56:26 So you're saying you can make a professionally built website and cut out the professional? I'm saying that you said that. Damn. Damn. How did I know this? You should punch past Liam in the face. So being so right? Squarespace.
Starting point is 00:56:41 You head on down. You get state of the art technology. It's trusted by millions. You got 24-7 tech support. So even when you think you're wrong, you can just call someone up to be like, Yo, how wrong am I? And they can teach you... Pretty wrong.
Starting point is 00:56:54 They can teach you how wrong you are. They can guide you back to the right path. They'll be like, yo, just click that other button. Unless you're making websites in the midnight hour, you're good. That's it. Or is that covered too? Of course they... And they show you where the button is.
Starting point is 00:57:07 Then it just says you click it and you make it not shit. Fuck. Right? Squarespace is that fucking good. That's basically how easy it is. Starting at eight bucks a month, you get a free domain if you sign up for a year. And if you head on down there and you use the promo code SUPER, you get a deal on that. You get 10% off your first purchase and you support the show.
Starting point is 00:57:26 There you go. Dang, that's helpful. Christ, that's super. You could own HorsePorn.Guru right now. You could. And you could make it the classiest looking HorsePorn.Guru site. I thought we were over this. It ever could be.
Starting point is 00:57:38 You thought we were over it. Our lifetime subscriptions aren't over yet. The real thing is that it wasn't over us. Yeah. You know, I mean, we could get into a whole other tangent about the quality. About the quality of those websites, of those HorsePorn websites. They just, they're not up to snuff. We need class year design.
Starting point is 00:57:58 We need to see what you can bring to us. They need a platinum package. Shatter the frontier of HorsePorn.com. HorsePorn builds beautiful. That's what I want to see. That's what I want. That's the future I want. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:11 For my children. That's the future I'm voting for. Squarespace. Build it beautiful. Thanks, Squarespace. Thanks, Squarespace. Thanks, Squarespace. Books.
Starting point is 00:58:22 Who has time? Am I right? Literature. Who can handle that? Fucking nerds. That's who. We're going back to dumping on books, huh? It must be that time of the year.
Starting point is 00:58:33 What a hopeless medium. I just, you know, I woke up this morning and I had a shitty taste in my mouth. And I was just like, ah, fucking books. You choked on a book. Fuck you. You're doing it again. So you fell asleep reading and ended up absorbing multiple pages in your mouth. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:47 That's awful. When the pages get soaked with your drool, they're unusable. I woke up this morning. I took all my books. I threw them out the window. I saw fonts I didn't want to see. Yeah, exactly. Shit's terrible.
Starting point is 00:58:58 You opened a book and it's in Helvetica? That's wrong. I think it is all rough. I remember reading that Space Jam book when I was a kid and I was like, what is this font? I can't get into this. It's too big. I can't read Wingdings.
Starting point is 00:59:10 Why? Why would you do this? Why would you print this? I'm more scared of books than any one entity in my life. How? How can we proceed into the future when we are being shackled down by these blood eyes? Yeah. No, exactly.
Starting point is 00:59:25 It's ridiculous. We're not still using cassette tapes. We don't have the neural jacks yet. When were books invented? Like, 50 years ago. Like, 50 years ago. Shit ages. We stopped books.
Starting point is 00:59:34 Books were invented by Hitler during the war. Don't you remember? That's why they all got burned. Yeah, exactly. Like... Books were a way. There isn't one, sadly. To break free.
Starting point is 00:59:45 To break the chains. And go beyond books. This is a nice thought, Willie, but just end it here, because there's no solution. Well, I have you know that the original storytellers of old... What are you going to say here? To get hated books, they told oral tradition. Wait, wait, they had another way? They told oral tradition, boys.
Starting point is 01:00:03 Like a toothbrush? If we turn to the way of the sages of the past... But we harness the technologies of the future. Maybe we can... So, you're saying we get a bard. And we have him tell the story into the microphone. But then we don't need a book in the middle. We just get an audio...
Starting point is 01:00:25 An audio book. You guys are geniuses. I don't know. Somebody beat you to the fucking punch. Wait, I think this is a rebellious type attitude that will just get us in trouble. That's what they said about the genius. I've been here that despite our genius, Audible.com has beaten us to the punch. Oh, really?
Starting point is 01:00:44 But they can't have that much of a lead. I mean like, we just need to get started tomorrow. They must have 50 of these audio wave books. Yeah, we can get like 100 done in a year, so we'll catch up. They must only have a suit. Or will we with 180,000 books already on the screen? 180,000 audio bard tales? So what you're saying is it's going to be a long weekend.
Starting point is 01:01:07 You can play them on every one of your devices. iPhones, Apple Androids, Windows phones. You can play it on your Kindle. Over 500 MP3 players. And unlike a rental service, you own your books forever. Wow. You can continue on any device to any other device. It's got that whisper sync technology.
Starting point is 01:01:24 I would know I've been using it. Shit's nuts. That's awesome. That sounds great. I'm glad to hear we can finally remove the chains of book. And if you think that this new bookless future is, it's making you nervous, if you're not sure about putting it on. And the tyranny of the page.
Starting point is 01:01:41 I'm a little nervous to be fair. How about you head on over, right? Check out your free 30 day trial. You get a free audio book with that membership. And you get to see from the grand selection of knowledge of the Bards of Old. The world. The old tradition.
Starting point is 01:01:57 The world stands in front of you and waits in field tea for you to choose. We skip past this middling dark era of literature and we get back to the good shit. You get a free audio book in like a free 30 days. That's correct. Dude, the audio tastes better when it's free. Yeah. It's the best spice.
Starting point is 01:02:16 It really feels like metal book wrecks dragged us into a century we didn't want and we need to go back to the simpler time, but also using technology to get us there. We fight back, man. We fight back by going to audiblepodcast.com slash super to date. Starting that free trial, helping out the podcast. Two for one.
Starting point is 01:02:35 It's all good. And you save a tree. And you save a tree. So over time that's like a billion for one. It's a net saving. Yeah, it's fucking good shit. A lot. You might as well be saving humanity.
Starting point is 01:02:50 In fact you are. And like you take that many books. You divide it by the cost of entry. You round it down. That's zero cents a book. It's amazing. Deal of the century. Deal of the century.
Starting point is 01:03:02 Deal of the money. Ten on ten. Do it. Do it. Thanks audible. Thanks audible. So like that, like for me, like those were the three standouts. Street Fighter V, VR in general, particularly Morpheus.
Starting point is 01:03:18 And a wizard. And a wizard at the Barclay Toothman. There were a bunch of other things I played. There were some things I didn't get to play like Star Fox Zero. Dude, that booth looked amazing. Yeah, guess what? There was a reason to see the booth through the throng of the masses. The reason I didn't get to play it is because it was right in front of one of the entrances
Starting point is 01:03:35 and the line was permanently like extra long. But even earlier, since you had those badges? They had the machines worn on. Well, no. Because Willie and I got to play Splatoon earlier. When we had the badges, we said, well no, we're going to play the VR games because those lines are even longer. Those lines are literally like capped.
Starting point is 01:03:56 You cannot stand in this line anymore. Someone tweeted a photo from the Star Fox machine at me. It was like, it's a big fucking thing. Like a fake R-Wing. Yeah, R-Wing. It's got smoke coming out. I saw it. I watched people playing for it, but it's nothing because we're using a gamepad, right?
Starting point is 01:04:09 It's not moving itself. No, it's not. Like it's not an R-Wing. You're not controlling the cockpit. It's a chair in a fake R-Wing. It's nice. It was very nice. No, we used our early entrants to get to Dark Souls 3 and the VR stuff.
Starting point is 01:04:22 There was some shit like the VR and Star Fox and Dark Souls and for Honor that were capped within five minutes of the show starting and would never uncap. Did you get eyes on Star Fox? Yeah, absolutely. It looks really good and the people who played it and I talked to said it was really good. I'm still on the exact same position I'm on, which is I'm really, really excited for it, but I'm really concerned that it might just be Star Fox 64 again and I'm really hoping this is not just Star Fox 64 by the end of the game.
Starting point is 01:04:58 I sort of wish hope that it is. I'm still. Because we have not had a Star Fox 64 since Star Fox 64. I know, but the last Star Fox game to come out was Star Fox 64. I'm looking for a zero-emission kind of thing where you get the full game and then there's something extra. That's what I want. I want it to be zero-emission. Yep, so hopefully.
Starting point is 01:05:17 It is called zero, so I'll cross those figures. But on Sunday I assumed I'd get a chance to go, but against all odds the Sunday was longer than the Saturday. I said, because everyone thinks Sunday will be the least busy so that's why they all go. So for Honor didn't happen then? Not for me, but I got the play out. I have a huge list of shit. I'm going to fly through this as fast as possible. Liam, if you've played them, feel free to say anything.
Starting point is 01:05:41 This is an order of play. This is not an importance. First thing we touched was Dragon Quest Heroes. It's Hyrule Warriors. It's a new Hyrule Warriors with Dragon Quest. It's exactly the same. It's Hyrule Warriors. It's great.
Starting point is 01:05:52 And thus I give it two thumbs up because it'll be a great Warriors game. Actually it already came out in Japan. It's a great Warriors game. Number two on the list is Street Fighter. I guess we talked about that. Yeah. Grandia II looks fine. It looks really old.
Starting point is 01:06:03 It's not an HD remake. I know, I know. But it looks... It was really cool seeing a Grandia II booth though with all the art. It was really nice. After that is Dark Souls 3, which boy, I'm glad I got to play because they were running 10 minute timers on that booth. It wasn't even until you die.
Starting point is 01:06:20 There was a straight out like a fucking arm. You need to get off this machine. And even with the 10 minute timer, it was a cap three hour line in the entire show. I got four goes at it. Yo, that game is great. So first of all, it feels like Dark Souls 1. It doesn't feel like DS2. It doesn't feel like Bloodborne.
Starting point is 01:06:38 I hate that this is my first question, but how is the framerate? Framerate was fine. Okay. It's totally fine. Probably better than the... Not the Bloodborne demo framerate we got? No, no, no. I have a feeling this will be much better overall.
Starting point is 01:06:51 Okay. So the biggest thing about it is the power move system that has been very, very poorly explained. Yeah, you played it on Xbox One by the time. Yeah, by the time. Every player I've looked, this system has been really badly explained. So what it is, is L2 is no longer a universal shield button for your shit. It used to be shields only had parry or like big slam attack that was worthless, right? So now what they have is the shields are now dedicated into more obvious categories.
Starting point is 01:07:24 So you have your big shield. You have your regular kite shield. You have your small buckler kind of shield and stuff like that. Each type has its own specialty move. So for the wall shields, they're not in it so I didn't know, but like the bucklers keep the parry, right? The large but round shields give you a buff. Like your character yells and you get an attack buff for 10 seconds. And the kite shields give you a movement modifier.
Starting point is 01:07:53 If I'm not mistaken, those are per shield and not universal. Like every shield has a different one. Well, the demo explained it that the round shields have this. So it might be types or it might be four shields. Yeah, I remember someone saying that. I hope it's four shields. So they're like weapons now. Yeah, but the thing is, the ones that have move modifiers is you hold L2 and it doesn't switch your weapon into a different stance.
Starting point is 01:08:14 Your character just starts to hold their weapon in a different pose. And what happens is, is the character that has a regular straight sword that has the exact same movement. It's two swipes and a stab, right? If you hold down L2 and hit R1, they do this huge sweeping up strike, which is like a great sword move. And if you do R2, they do the huge lunging R2 that the fume great sword has. Okay, but you have to be holding it. Yeah, you have to be holding it. It's not a tap, Tom.
Starting point is 01:08:42 And the damage is equivalent. It's like a whole new variable on that stuff. And all of this stuff is limited. You only get 20 of these per bonfire. It's like an estus. Yeah. And like the buff uses multiple charges, but the moves do not. It's really, really, really interesting.
Starting point is 01:09:02 Each one of the R1 and R2 special moves counts. Counts for one out of 20. Okay. So you want to use it against regular enemies. You will tear through them like butter, but then you won't have any for the boss. And a bonfire, estuses are back and almost identical to how they worked in Dark Souls 1. Like the timing on them. It was just really solid, really great.
Starting point is 01:09:24 It felt like they split the difference between Dark Souls 1 and Bloodborne in terms of movement and feel and stuff. And Old Backstab is so back. Yeah. That's great. So the Old Backstab where you just get behind them and it's an instantaneous animation. But any tougher enemy, there's one like relatively tough enemy that has a larger knight with a sword and shield. What you would always do is you would circle straight towards their shield just that they can't swipe at you, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:50 So the enemy takes his shield and just reaches his arm out and smacks your shit. And it breaks your guard immediately and he follows you up. So enemies have a much better route to deal with being circle straight. The rolling is not like Bloodborne. No. It's like everybody has a much faster DS1 style roll. Okay. Was it the dragon area that you were in?
Starting point is 01:10:12 Yeah. I saw a lot of people run up those stairs and get torched. They get hit, they use an Estus, but there's fire all over the ground and you just see them suffer and die. Game's gonna be great. It's gonna be great. The next one is Mirror's Edge Catalyst. Yeah. Which...
Starting point is 01:10:28 Did you get to play them then? Yes, I did. Oh, you did? Cool. So I don't know how much... I haven't been following it very closely, so I don't know how much of this stuff is new. Yeah. But it's a hub world game now.
Starting point is 01:10:38 Yeah, that's not new. So the hubs are pretty large. They're like twice or three times the size of an existing area, but it's not a line. It's a pretty big goddamn hub area. And the area they dumped me in had a rally race, sorry, a time trial, a fight thing, and like a climb on top of the shit. These are all different missions on the map. And no shooting range, I believe. No shooting range.
Starting point is 01:11:02 Oh, yeah. Four shooting ranges. That's disappointing. I asked, there's no way to even pick up a gun in the demo that I played. No, in the whole game. There's no way to even pick up a gun. And I asked the guy, what's the deal with guns? Because I don't think there's guns.
Starting point is 01:11:12 She goes and will live with him on everybody. That'd be great. Fucking guns. So the coolest thing about that is when you set a waypoint, that affects the redness of your environment. So instead of a waypoint system, it will just nudge you with the red markers towards your problem. And then they're still on the objects. Objects become red. D.V. animations for kicking dudes' asses is way better and works slightly more complex.
Starting point is 01:11:38 There's an attack button and it's X. And RT is Flow Move, which I asked the guy, what the hell is that? He says, I don't know. I don't think it's actually in the demo yet. It was a Microsoft wrap, right? Yeah. Not a dozen. And I think what that is, is like parkour attacks.
Starting point is 01:11:54 So the first game had, it's a minor issue, but it's what we were talking about in the Doom demo, where melees were basically cinematic shots. Cinematic moments. They're still cinematic, but they're way faster. Okay. As long as it feels seamless. Felt really good. Game looks fucking great.
Starting point is 01:12:10 Game is gorgeous. What can you say? You're playing that on Xbox One as well, aren't you? Yes, I was. After that was Meat Boy Forever. Yo, that game's going to be the best home game. So, I told Pat the story about it from last year, where me and Woolly walked by their booth, and he saw a Meat Boy, and he said, man, those guys can just make Super Meat Boy Forever.
Starting point is 01:12:30 And I said, that's literally what they have on show. And we look over, and there's a sign that says Super Meat Boy Forever. You just start laughing super hard. Not much to say. It's an endless runner with Meat Boy physics, and it's super good. Yeah. But it's not like Meat Boy levels. It is designed as a forward-moving experience.
Starting point is 01:12:49 Now, the game requires precision. So, why did you say foam? It's a fucking touch game. You auto-run. Oh. It's a foam game. It's not actually Meat Boy. Because, think about it, when you take away the speed of the movement from Meat Boy,
Starting point is 01:13:02 the precision becomes how long you hold the jump button. So, the first button is jump, and if you hold it, you jump higher. Sorry, the right side of the screen is that. And the left side of the screen is either slide or fastball. Yeah. And with just that, as long as you auto-run, you can fucking do Meat Boy. Because your speed's fixed. And it just goes and goes and goes.
Starting point is 01:13:21 It's fucking awesome. After that, I played a game that Liam recommended to me called the Westport Independent. Yeah. You know what? Journalism Ethics. It's what I heard about. Fuck, what's that game? The way you work at a border?
Starting point is 01:13:33 Pay per spree. Yeah. So, every person in front of me said, yo, are you guys the dudes that did papers please? Because the dude had a very strong accent. No, it's not that. And the dude who did papers please is Canadian. Yeah. And this guy, these guys are totally different.
Starting point is 01:13:47 No, it is inspired by papers please. Astotzka doesn't exist. It's all over work. And the deal is, it starts off very simple, but it's just like, yo, the government's going to have a bill that basically criminalizes independent news outlets. And they're giving you all these guidelines to fall for the truthfulness of the news. And all you do is you're saying, I'm going to... What do I want to print?
Starting point is 01:14:10 What do I want to print? I can't add anything, but I can censor shit. So it's like cop shoots man who interferes in arrest. It's like, what's the title of this going to be? Is it going to be like Hero Cop? Like Defends Against Attacker? Or is it going to be like a faithful man trying to defend teenager from unlawful arrest gets murdered?
Starting point is 01:14:30 And you can go line by line. And then on top of that, you have to give it to one of your editors to print. And they have their various political beliefs. And some of them are going to go like, I don't want to fucking print this shit. Or be like, get me pictures. I don't care about this. Get me pictures of Spider-Man. Or as the game goes on being like, dude, the paper is under too much scrutiny.
Starting point is 01:14:50 I have a family. Yeah. Like, I cannot print this. Right. And each of them have varying family states. And as you print things, your popularity will go up. It's so well. Your government's suspicion.
Starting point is 01:15:02 And you are also influencing the people towards either the rebel or government side. Yeah. My girlfriend as an aspiring journalist has been super excited for this. So I can't wait to get super depressed. So my favorite thing about it is that the guy was, and eventually you unlock more mechanics like marketing and how many marketing dollars you want to put. So my favorite thing is that I was talking to Dev and he says, so here's the deal, right? You have a time period of weeks, much like some other papers, please.
Starting point is 01:15:29 And there's no good ending. And there's no way to win. Because if you go more towards the government, they become to feel empowered and crack down harder and harder with more draconian, draconian and like fascist laws. But if you go towards the rebels and they gain support, they start blowing up more shit in terrorist attacks and assassinating like the wrong people and shit like that. You can't journalist that. There's no way to solve it.
Starting point is 01:15:56 Yeah. And it's fucking great. It even looks like papers, please. It's very similar in terms of like big fucking cool game. After that was the other game. That's the Westport Independent. The other game that Liam forced me to go to, and I can't believe you did not talk about it, was Necropolis.
Starting point is 01:16:15 Well, because I spent so much time, so I don't know if you have that one. So here's the art for Necropolis. It got announced at PAX Prime and was playable at PAX Prime. It's a 3D third-person action. That back part looks very similar to some other games. Run it through. It's a third-person action roguelike. That plays like the Souls games.
Starting point is 01:16:35 Which is great because we're finally getting past 2D roguelikes to be the only thing. It is a souls roguelike with procedurally generated environments. Effectively. Even at this super early stage that it's at, it played great. It played really good, invincibility frames on rolls, light, heart attack. They super know what they want and they're getting it. It was fucking awesome. One of the neat things about it is the progression is downwards.
Starting point is 01:17:03 You're progressing deeper. He said it's not really in this build because it's a six-month build. But you'll be in a situation where you want to go down, you can take the stairs, but you look down and there's a procedurally generated ledge. I can see other shit there that I wouldn't be able to access by taking the stairs past it. He said that's a whole other dynamic. The downwards progression allows you to progress in ways that you want to, rather than how roguelikes are where you go by this door or this door.
Starting point is 01:17:34 My favorite part of that whole thing is I'm playing it. It was really good. It was a really good level. It was nicely designed and spaced out. It was procedural. I asked the lady, it's like, oh, so this must be... The game's procedural, obviously, but this build must be designed. She goes, no.
Starting point is 01:17:50 This build is totally procedural. When I was walking away, I realized what boot that was. That's the Hairbrained Studios boot that just put out Shadowrun and is also going to be kick-starting Battlezone. I was going to ask. No, Battlezone? Battlezone's Rebellion. It's the MEC game.
Starting point is 01:18:08 It's a zone battle. It's a zone battle. So, Steam? Yeah. Oh, I asked them and they said they want... It's too early. Everyone we spoke to was really platforming, like, non-committal. Oh, I asked them and they were only working on it for six months.
Starting point is 01:18:23 They said, like, dub PC, but we want her to do consoles, so who knows. Okay, let's see. After that is Hobb by Brunik. But they didn't announce that. The Torchlight guys? That game's... It's amazing. It's like a Zelda light with, like, grappling hook elements.
Starting point is 01:18:43 And just... I can't even explain. The most impressive thing about it is the smooth movement, which you will never get on a video. The controls are unbelievable. You can describe them. Well, it's... Let the analog stick to move.
Starting point is 01:19:00 X to attack. Like, LB to do your grappling hook. Like, it feels like a top-down 2D Zelda. But with Brunik's art style and just perfect, perfect movement. And it has a really fantastic art style. I don't know what to say, other than that, that was great. It was really good. It was a fun experience.
Starting point is 01:19:19 Okay. I played Kona by Perabod Studios. We're out of Quebec City. And Kona is a horror... So, like, I had heard about this, but, like, I didn't go to play it because I was like, yeah, whatever, I'll play it when it's out. It's too scary. No, when Pat was dropping stuff on me,
Starting point is 01:19:37 I was like, yeah, that's Game of the Year right there. So, Kona is a mystery horror game that takes place in rural Quebec in an analog of Shabugamur. Jesus Christ. That is the fucking best Shabugamur. So, it's a fucking... What's the default language? The dialect?
Starting point is 01:19:55 The dialect? The default language is fucking rural French. So good. And at the current build, it was obviously English because nobody backs speaks French. But, because I asked them about it, because it's like, the very first thing you do is go into the La chance de faire un art
Starting point is 01:20:10 and look for, like, stuff on, like, Dr. Biron in one of his offices, and it's like, the super British-y voice actor. I'm like, this is really weird. Is this gonna... It's like, yes, but the patch... The patch build is English. This is never gonna take you.
Starting point is 01:20:23 Well, no, it'll have... It'll have English. It'll have multiple languages, at least English and French. And it is a three-square-mile wilderness, like, fucking shit town, out in the boonies, like, sort of like, like, let's circle, fucking Joliet,
Starting point is 01:20:39 or something like that. And you're just going there, and you're looking for, you know, clues, and you're opening up every single drawer, and the save points are you make fires, like, bonfire, and they... Was there subtitles or anything? Yeah, there were subtitles.
Starting point is 01:20:51 Yeah. But also, like, the whole thing was English. So, do you be funny if you turn on English subtitles and they all become 30% smaller? Yeah, that would actually be fantastic. That'd be pretty funny. But... Took yourself some authentic wilderness puts in.
Starting point is 01:21:04 No, there is a crafting system in there that I hit a button, and what... It's not really surviving. What was shown a crafting system that was baffling to me, but it's not survival. It's, like, just, like, already... A rubber band, a candle,
Starting point is 01:21:19 and a Celine Dion CD. Yeah, he implied that it was more adventure-game crafting than, like, survival-game crafting. I've seen it in West Russia. Yeah, exactly. So, probably my favorite part of the demo was that I learned, okay, I gotta go down to the first house
Starting point is 01:21:37 past the bridge, right? And so I'm driving down the road, and it's a fucking for real blizzard, just like we get out here, and the guy stops me and says, hey, man, you totally missed it. I go, oh, so I hit Reverse, and when you hit Reverse and that came in your car,
Starting point is 01:21:51 which you have all the time, it's a huge area, your character fucking turns around and puts, like, their arm over the back of the fucking thing, and turns and looks out the back, and I realized, like, I could barely see it because the road had been snowed over, but there was totally, like, this little dirt road
Starting point is 01:22:07 into this fucking cabin. I remember visiting people as a kid with my dad, and this exact scenario playing out a dozen times. I hope the voices are fucking dead off. They will be. Well, the dude was from Quebec City, and he seemed real legit, so I think they'll nail it.
Starting point is 01:22:25 But, just, and then you find, like, creepy people frozen in ice, and he mentioned that wolves are an enemy type, but nothing past that. And the person before me got confused about, like, trying to find a way around a house to find clues, and ended up walking, like, in the wrong direction for several minutes,
Starting point is 01:22:45 and was totally fucked, and, like, lost as all shit in the blizzard and had to quit the demo. Game looks great. Fucking awesome. No, that, no, how much longer, this is Kona. Kona. And Kona has an Axocic effects over the O,
Starting point is 01:23:03 because, of course, it does. After that, I played Plague Knight's demo. I want to use the call list button. Yeah, yeah. After that, I played Plague Knight. Yeah. Yeah. Plague Knight's hot.
Starting point is 01:23:14 Plague Knight's great. They put up a huge video this week, and showing exactly how they changed the game to allow for Plague Knight's moveset. Yeah. He's like, crazy deep. So, the thing about Plague Knight, is that he has a huge moveset.
Starting point is 01:23:28 Like, every single move, like, his bomb attack can have three variants, and his jump, his double jump can fire off, or make him invincible, or do a block of all and shit like that. But the main thing about it is, like, holy shit, Plague Knight's projectiles, I thought they would make the game easier.
Starting point is 01:23:43 They make the game way harder. Yeah. Because you can't hit shit that's right in front of you. You can't just attack. You have to know. You have to plan. You have to balance and use trajectories. Or float it up, or shit like that.
Starting point is 01:23:55 It's great. His double jump is awesome. His double jump is fucking great. I don't know. It's Show of the Night. New character. He's great. I almost beat Spectre Knight,
Starting point is 01:24:03 but, like, ran out of time. It was in his lane. I know. After that, I got into For Honor, and I need to give a huge shout out to Imperator Joe Starr in the free company, or Ali, who was a Pax and Forcer, that was in line,
Starting point is 01:24:19 and totally gave me her spot, because she's awesome. The line was dumb, by the way. The line was capped at 3pm, and I showed up at 5, thinking I could get in, and I was like, this is bullshit,
Starting point is 01:24:30 and she totally gave me her spot in line. So thank you very much. That's ridiculous. And all of you be thankful, because otherwise, I wouldn't be able to talk about For Honor. Yo, For Honor's the shit! Was Ed Ma there?
Starting point is 01:24:39 I don't know. Okay. I don't even know what Ed Ma looks like. Oh, you just reminded me of another game. He's like a Chinese guy, right? Yeah. Yeah. I didn't see him.
Starting point is 01:24:47 Maybe? Would you play him? There's too fat. There's red and blue. No, you don't get to choose a hero. No, it was the medieval knights, guys. Yeah. With the weird sword.
Starting point is 01:24:56 The mode that we were playing. Well, actually, that's a legit sword. No, I know, it's still weird. But it's still goofy. It's still weird. And I hold the sword backwards, and use it as a club. And the core,
Starting point is 01:25:05 it appears that the core game mode is domination, like territory or king of the hill stuff. And the gameplay is really, really simple. I can't believe how, actually, how few buttons is used on this game. It is heavy attack and light attack. It is walk onto the guy, and guard, break, and roll.
Starting point is 01:25:21 And that's the whole thing. Need to hog it 3D. Yeah, absolutely. And all you do is you hold up to block up, or hold bottom left, or hold bottom right. And if you're holding those directions, and a guy attacks that direction,
Starting point is 01:25:32 you block it. If you weren't holding that direction, you get hit. And you can guard and break if their guard is too strong. And if you're near an edge, you can kick them off. Perfect.
Starting point is 01:25:41 So it's four on four. And there is ABC. And A is where all the peons are fighting. They're capture points. A is in the middle. B and C are on the side. And to get the A spot, you have to kill them
Starting point is 01:25:54 because they're the ones that capture the point. Not you, but the peon. You capture B and C, but the little dudes are the ones that capture A. Got it. So it takes a while to kill all the other team, so that gives guys from the other team to go towards you.
Starting point is 01:26:07 It's the front lines. Yeah. It is faster than I expected. It's super, because people are attacking you and changing their guards like immediately beforehand. It's a blast.
Starting point is 01:26:16 It's super simple. It is 3D knit hog. But the point system for their multiplayer is really, really interesting. So when you cap, if you have more than the other guys, you'll earn a point a second. If you have all the things,
Starting point is 01:26:29 you earn like two points a second, and you're going towards a thousand, right? If you cap a point, like if it's in your control, you get 150 points added to your total. If you lose that, you lose the 150 points immediately. So it's constantly swinging back and forth.
Starting point is 01:26:42 So you can have 450 points plus the ones you go over time. And as soon as you get a thousand. You can have like 300 banked points and all three things and be like three quarters of the way to victory and then lose two of them, and then now they're almost at 90%.
Starting point is 01:26:56 So what happens when you hit a thousand is not that the other team wins. It's not a dry end. What happens is the losing team enters a breaking state in which respawning is disabled, but you can still fight and you can still get those points back,
Starting point is 01:27:10 and if you get them back and knock their point total under a thousand, you will immediately regain your ability to respawn. And the battle continues. And the battle continues. So once you hit three, once the other team hits a thousand, all of a sudden it's like you have to,
Starting point is 01:27:24 whatever fight you are fighting right now, if you do not win it, you're going to lose. But if you do win it, you will probably capture the point and re-enable your respawn and keep it going. So that enables really, really fast victories
Starting point is 01:27:41 if the other team gets all three and just holds them the whole time. But it also means that there's a momentum. If it's back and forth the whole time, you will be disabling each other's respawns. Her battle. Okay. Like you have them on the ropes
Starting point is 01:27:56 and then back and forth. I mean, theoretically, both teams could go over a thousand if it goes on long enough. And just nobody can respawn. And then it's over. And then it's over, actually. That's the final screen, right?
Starting point is 01:28:06 So, okay, here's what I need to know. When you do encounter another player, like how does that encounter go down? Is it if you see them, you stop, you get into position? You have a faster run speed and sprint and stuff like that for normal stuff.
Starting point is 01:28:22 And when you see another guy, just point at him and hold L2 and then you immediately hold. It enters like fight mode. It enters fight mode. And then you're super slow and you're both taking little steps and you're in combat mode.
Starting point is 01:28:34 Oh, so it switches. So the part that's fucked is that if somebody blindsides you, you're gonna die. If you're fighting someone and somebody comes from behind you and just slams you, you have no chance.
Starting point is 01:28:47 Because if you want... Can you delock? Yeah, you can totally delock, but they're gonna hit you so hard. Do you know that someone's is gonna show you on the minimap? Someone's about to... Is there any way you know?
Starting point is 01:28:56 Yes, there is. And also, fighting two people, it looks like it's conceivably possible. But two people, the smart thing would be to bury their attacks and do them as close together as possible. So there's no time to switch between the two guards.
Starting point is 01:29:10 Do you have a stamina meter? No. What governs your defense and offense? Are you blocking? Are you blocking correctly? Okay, so can you just block properly the whole time? Yes, forever.
Starting point is 01:29:20 And then if you keep doing that, they'll guard break you. There's a guard break button. There's a guard break button. He mentioned it earlier, yeah. Okay, okay, okay. But it's not governed by a meter. There were fights.
Starting point is 01:29:30 Yeah, there were fights that were going on for like half the demo and then somebody would run in and bam! And it's like totally over. Because if two guys come in and one goes high and one goes low. Like, if they're far enough apart,
Starting point is 01:29:41 it may be possible to block both. But if they're in the same time. But just like in real life, if they both come at the same time, you're fucked. How many hits kill you? Five. Five lights and like
Starting point is 01:29:51 two and a half strongs. Okay. Is there a knockdown? No. No. Okay. It's very simple. I was really shocked.
Starting point is 01:30:00 But it's a really simple, super intense, awesome, like, gameplay thing that I'm going to see them like, they're going to like double up on modes. Yeah. Like there'll be a dual mode. There'll be a capture the flag mode.
Starting point is 01:30:11 There'll be all sorts of shit. Yeah, ATV mode. Yeah, I would love an ATV mode. The other, I totally forgot. The other game I played that you totally reminded me of was Kill Strain. Yeah, I didn't get a chance to play it. I went in and the first thing we did
Starting point is 01:30:25 when we saw Kill Strain was laugh at it. And be like, ah, that game looks like nothing. It's a mobile-like game that Sony's putting out by their San Diego studio. And it looked like fucking nothing. And I spoke to the community manager and I asked him some questions because I was just wondering about the structure
Starting point is 01:30:42 because I knew it was kind of different. And he said, why don't you get in line? Why don't you try it? The line went instantly because it was 12, it's 12 people playing at a time. And the team structure is 5v5v2, right? So you have two teams of humans who pick their character
Starting point is 01:31:00 and those characters overlap for both sides, right? And then you have the mutants and the mutants have their own pool of mutant characters that are like way stronger. So a mutant is about as strong as two and a half humans. So if it's 1v1, human versus mutant, fighting the mutant is probably going to win. So how it works is basically the mutants
Starting point is 01:31:23 can put down effectively creep like in Starcraft, like get the ooze on the ground. They can put that down, it's called the Strain, and so they can spread that from where it already exists on the map. What does that do for them? What that does for them is while they're standing on it, they get a buff to their movement, I think a buff to their attack and defense,
Starting point is 01:31:42 and they're invisible until they start attacking. It's really strong. When a human dies, they enter it down but not dead state for about 5 seconds. And during that 5 seconds, nobody can revive them, all they can do is crawl. They crawl really slow, but a mutant can drag them towards the Strain.
Starting point is 01:31:59 And if a mutant gets them in the Strain in those 5 seconds before they die, then they will be turned into a mutant and it'll become 4v5v3. And eventually that slides even more until the mutants have all but two characters, right? And the human's objective is in the center of the map, the mutant spawn point is at the top, right above this thing,
Starting point is 01:32:20 and the center of the map, there's a factory, right? And at the lower areas of the map, there's two smaller factories that produce this like these canisters. So you have to capture the canisters, but you also want to capture the other canister-producing thing if you can from the other humans so you have double the production speed.
Starting point is 01:32:38 And you take the canisters to the factory in the middle, which you're constantly struggling to keep on your side because the other humans can capture it. And then you bring the canisters there and when the team manages to bring 10 canisters, everyone on the team gets one mech suit each. And you can hit square to summon a mech suit for yourself and you become as strong as like two and a half mutants.
Starting point is 01:32:59 You become incredibly strong. The mech suit lasts like 25 seconds before it runs out of juice and it falls apart. And that's the moment where your team can be like, let's go, let's fucking go, you know what I mean? And like they have a really good tool set when they're outside of the mech, so like they can get away from combat easily
Starting point is 01:33:17 and they can hold them. It's top-down, it's like a MOBA. Okay, and you're clicking... No, it's Control, it's DualShock 4. It's made by Sony. Okay, what are your combat options? I hold one button to attack and you'll do a continuous MOBA-style attack.
Starting point is 01:33:32 Then you have a movement skill, which is like for one character, it was like a big jump that does damage when they hit the ground. And then you have like a secondary skill for one character, it made this ring that mutants couldn't get out of if they were in it. So you could keep them in it with you if you were winning the fight against them, you know?
Starting point is 01:33:50 But they could use a movement thing to jump out of it if they could. So it looks like nothing, but then you play it? It looks like fucking nothing. But after playing... I played one round and I was sold, I played a second round and it went drastically differently and I was like, yes, still really good.
Starting point is 01:34:05 It's just really unique, it's doing such unique things with like how the 5v5v3 works. And also the victor is not the team, the victor is the individual. So even if your team fucks up, you can still win the whole match by being the highest scorer,
Starting point is 01:34:20 by getting the most points, by contributing the objectives the most, etc. If you die as a human and get converted into one of them, your objectives continue to be your objectives change to fight as a mutant, but your points remain, your points don't change. The players still... So you can die and get changed,
Starting point is 01:34:36 but you can still win first place. Are you weaker than people that are starting as mutants? No, you become... Because you pick a human and a mutant and then you get shuffled into whatever team. And when you die and get converted, you become the mutant you get exactly. But you can die and the timer can go out
Starting point is 01:34:51 and you'll die and you'll just respawn as a human. They really have to drag you to the creep, not the creep, the strain. So ideally you want to drag it and you want another guy to play strain while you're dragging it and you just drag them onto your buddy's strain. And it's really tough for the mutants at the beginning
Starting point is 01:35:06 because it's only 2 and there's 10 humans... I mean, they're kind of fighting with each other, but when the humans see a mutant, everyone kind of says, no, I'm going to attack the mutants, because fuck them. Can humans decrease the creep?
Starting point is 01:35:19 Yeah, because the creep has these little, these plant-like bulb things in the middle of it, and if you destroy it, then the creep around it dissipates pretty quickly. The ones that they can place are really weak, but the ones that are pre-placed
Starting point is 01:35:32 on the map at the top and the bottom are quite strong and take mech suits to really do any damage to it. And the mech suits have a whole different move set than the characters, but it's a shared move set. It's only one mech suit, but it's really strong.
Starting point is 01:35:44 And if you destroy a base just like in any MOBA, match instantly ends, points are tallied, but of course destroying bases is tough. Okay. So like humans could fight and defeat the other humans without even bothering with the monsters? Humans could ostensibly, could use their mech suits
Starting point is 01:35:58 to destroy the other teams base and win. But again, as a player could win, that team, that lost, one of their players could be number one for most objectives and most kills and stuff. So you don't have to kind of, like you do have to play and do your objectives to get points,
Starting point is 01:36:15 but you don't have to worry about having a bad team because you can still win first place. Just do your job as good as you can. Interesting. Very interesting. Yeah, I was really taken aback because like we were talking about it, both of us had literally written it off
Starting point is 01:36:28 and were actively laughing at it. Like I was making fun of it. Yeah. When do I ever make fun of like games like that? Did you go back to the guy that told you to try it? I did. And I talked to him. I still hate it.
Starting point is 01:36:40 And the game director came up as well and we spoke about stuff and like I was totally turned around after playing and I signed up for the beta, which is next weekend, so hopefully I'll be in that. Really, really fun experience. I'm genuinely surprised
Starting point is 01:36:54 because I totally thought it was going to be nothing. So... Kill Strain. Kill Strain. Still not a great name. Still definitely not a great name, but... Strain's not on the list of fucking... It's not.
Starting point is 01:37:06 Not yet. It's not yet. Not exactly. The Crank. No. Kill is on the Crank. Well, because they got... They got killed on.
Starting point is 01:37:16 Killed on. And then they got killed gate and they said, okay, let's stop with the Crank for a second. Yeah. And they're like, oh wait, our creep is called the Strain. So let's just go with that.
Starting point is 01:37:24 But I'm actually really excited for that game. So that's like free to play when it comes out. I'm keen to play. Cool. So really cool. That's pretty much all I played at Perks. That was pretty much the Paks experience. We went to Cheesecake Factory.
Starting point is 01:37:37 I got a plate that had a pound of... You made better choices. I had a plate... We made better choices. I had a plate that I ordered that had a pound of pasta and four chicken breasts. And I ate it all. See, the secret...
Starting point is 01:37:49 And it was great. But the plot... The secret of the Cheesecake Factory is that the entrees are the plates. Kinda. Kinda. Those are full meals. We had a plate of nachos
Starting point is 01:37:58 that we shared with the whole table. We were a bunch of people. And then we all got our meals and we all threw up. Did you even like glance at any of the peripheral events happening? We went to the Pike clothing store
Starting point is 01:38:12 for the Street Fighter. Did you go to the Pax Rumble? No, we didn't. What? Too busy playing games. It was hard to get into that too. Dude, the lineup for the Pax Rumble starts like way too late.
Starting point is 01:38:24 Last time we was like, you couldn't get in for that. No, but it was either go to the Pax Rumble or like get to play... Get to use our... What are they called? The badges we had. Exhibitor passes.
Starting point is 01:38:37 Exhibitor passes to get first in line. We had a real rumble this weekend. And can I just say, it was really depressing. And apparently ours wasn't as disappointing. It was really... Oh, was the Pax Rumble disappointing? Apparently there's lots of technical problems.
Starting point is 01:38:50 Oh, no. Nothing was more depressing than walking in every morning and seeing a line of people with press passes that was huge, standing in front of the division booth in their early...
Starting point is 01:39:04 You get one hour to play whatever sector. All the press went straight to the division. Nobody in the Astral Lounge. Nobody in the Astral Lounge. Like... Fuck. Fuck. How was the division?
Starting point is 01:39:18 I don't care. Did you look? I didn't know. Actually, I didn't... That's what I mean. Did you look? No. I wanted to play Dreadnaught, but that had one of the Super Cat lines as well.
Starting point is 01:39:29 Fuck. You would have had no chance. Because it took so many players to make a team that it was filled up. I watched two matches of Battle Born in that regard, and that was like... See, that's where the Splatoon line... The fact that we got into it,
Starting point is 01:39:45 that's where that worked, because they'd be letting in people... I think it was like... 16 at a time, right? No, it was... Patches scrolled on to off-topic on NeoGaff. And yesterday, we were watching CNN
Starting point is 01:40:01 all day at our 13-hour layover at the airport. Of the whole day of American news! Oh my God, I forgot about the layover. We were at 13 hours in the airport. So we watched a full day of CNN, and we watched news evolve, and one of the big controversies
Starting point is 01:40:15 is Obama changing Mount McKinsley, which is in... Alaska. Alaska. After politics, a president from Ohio. Yeah. He was changing it back
Starting point is 01:40:26 from that president's name to Denali, which was what it was called before the white men came and changed it. And there is a huge uproar and upset, because he is changing this mountain back to its original pre-white man name.
Starting point is 01:40:39 Okay. And... We just scrolled ahead. It's Patches switched to off-topic on NeoGaff on his computer monitor, and there's a quote from Donald Trump that says, all changed Mount Denali back to Mount McKinley.
Starting point is 01:40:53 Man, American news was a farce. It was a trip. It was like watching a cartoon. Okay, wait, hold on. So first of all, just if there's nothing, there's nothing, but how is that layover?
Starting point is 01:41:02 So, okay, hold on. First things first. On the plane from Seattle to Chicago, we met a guy called Joe Never Fails. Yeah, I guess he has a... He has a Twitch channel. He is a apparently very intense
Starting point is 01:41:17 FF14 streamer. Incredible. Super nice guy. He gave me the shirt I am wearing right now. He gave me one, too. He is a cool guy. I like him. Okay?
Starting point is 01:41:26 He made that plane trip way more bearable. Definitely. Great guy. But that layover, it's so... The main thing about it was it was boring, right?
Starting point is 01:41:35 There's no movie theaters in the plane, in the plane building. And he had a plane building. He had toys with like, let's go into Chicago. I'm like, really? We're gonna go into Chicago
Starting point is 01:41:46 at fucking five in the morning, like jet lag and all fucked up and dazed and confused. Plus, you never know it's like you might get a flight plus we lose two hours coming back because we have to go through customs again
Starting point is 01:41:57 if we go to the city. So it was a recreation of the famous airport movie. Terminal. Airport. Stop it. Stop it. 13 hours of this.
Starting point is 01:42:08 13 hours of man I really want to watch Tom Hanks Airport. And that's just like what's called a terminal. Oh, okay. I can see how that would get annoying. I really wanted to watch terminal, though,
Starting point is 01:42:18 but the internet was... Find out some tips on how to survive. And it was quite expensive. So you just sat and watched it. So probably the most... I told me a summary of the movie airport. I mean terminal. The most infuriating part
Starting point is 01:42:31 of that was the layover was we walked by and were like, we're talking to people at five in the morning. We got there at 5.30. We have a 13 hour layover because the American Airlines
Starting point is 01:42:40 sucked shit and gave us a fucking 13 hour layover. Even though the plane that let that 7 had empty seats! So what happened was I reserved the tickets on Americans' websites. It's always cheaper to reserve direct.
Starting point is 01:42:50 That's always the case. And we chose this flight because we'd save 180 US dollars on not staying at the hotel for another night, which is like over 200 Canadian dollars. So we chose to take this 13 hour layover because it was the only option
Starting point is 01:43:06 and we were like, yeah, we'll save a bunch of money. But when we got to the airport, we saw that there were two other flights to Montreal before ours that were not even options at all. They were not even on the website
Starting point is 01:43:18 when I had reserved them. And the one that was there an hour after we landed had lots of empty seats. So we said, can you change us on to this? And they said, well, it'll cost 75 US a person
Starting point is 01:43:29 and we won't be able to move your luggage. And so Pat couldn't because he had luggage. And I said, well, I'm not going to leave Pat alone. So I'll stay. Thank you, buddy. That was really nice.
Starting point is 01:43:40 It was very welcome. I told him to leave me and he stayed. It was just like a movie. The one a few hours later was actually booked full. So what the fuck? I knew I saw something
Starting point is 01:43:50 when you put that bad day on his face. Yeah, exactly. But like we went to talk to Cus for service really like really like confused and a bit frustrated. And they were like, no, you should have been able to get that flight.
Starting point is 01:44:00 That was a mistake. We don't know. Please like they gave me they printed off a bunch of names and email address and said contact these people. They'll they'll fix you up effectively.
Starting point is 01:44:11 So I need to do that. That's not even the part I was. I know it's not. But basically we spent a 13 hour layover where there were options to get out but they had not been offered to us
Starting point is 01:44:22 completely erroneously. And and I that didn't frustrate me through the whole day. But that was a bit upsetting. So it was mostly boring more than anything else. So we walk into the O'Hare Rotunda
Starting point is 01:44:35 near fucking gate H and there is a sign on the wall after we have failed to find anywhere to take a nap. It says minute sweets in the Rotunda. And I look it up and that is a straight up
Starting point is 01:44:48 napping service. It's a place to take sleeps. And we're like we were tired. That was a really good place to go. And on the sign it says summer 2014. So I go
Starting point is 01:44:59 I'm pretty old. Yeah. Then we look and we look and we look and I check the websites it's coming soon to Chicago O'Hare Airport.
Starting point is 01:45:08 It had still not been built. Thanks a lot Chicago. I briefly contemplated taking one of the yoga mats from the yoga room and putting it behind a bookshelf to sleep. Didn't happen.
Starting point is 01:45:20 I kept telling you not to do that. I know but Did you get any sleep? We got We had that passing you know like total one hour of sleep.
Starting point is 01:45:28 Airport sleep. So airport sleep of like your head dips and you wake up and then you realize you have drooled all over yourself. I had like eight moments where I dropped my kindle on the ground
Starting point is 01:45:39 in the plane and out of the plane because I was reading and falling asleep and it would just drop and I was like I did it again. It was a fun experience
Starting point is 01:45:47 would totally do it again. So then we got to Montreal and they're like sir we lost your bag because your layover was too long. So Pat found out and neither of us ever knew this if your layover's over 12 hours
Starting point is 01:45:59 they will not move the bag. You have to pick up your bag and recheck it. I never knew that. I wish they had told me that no so I'm talking to a lady and I was like
Starting point is 01:46:08 well someone should have told you that. Well guess what? It was not on any of our tickets on any of our info. I checked I checked earlier before I came over and told me.
Starting point is 01:46:16 So because it was a 13 hour and not an 11 hour layover Pat's luggage just sat there and we left. So as I spoke to the lady who seemed nice at the time since it was along with my bag looks like
Starting point is 01:46:28 here's where it was blah blah blah she's like oh great we found your bag we'll call you at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning to let you know this morning
Starting point is 01:46:36 this morning when we'll come and pick it up. So I get my form that I have I check the information my phone number is Liam's listed even though I called
Starting point is 01:46:47 I told her multiple times my correct phone number the description of the color of the bag is wrong and the description of what the bag is made out of is wrong perfect
Starting point is 01:46:57 and they have it and by the way they have not called because that's not your bag and my bag is unfound now despite being told that it had been found
Starting point is 01:47:07 it's now checked it's now unfound yeah they just they grabbed it they forgot about it they forgot so you call up the automated service
Starting point is 01:47:16 so I call up the automated fucking service and we found your son my kid is not Chinese and it says we have not found your son see how soon
Starting point is 01:47:25 you get where this story goes so I call it up and I say hey and it's a fucking robot like okay where did you lose your bag
Starting point is 01:47:34 Montreal did you say Montreal yes I did okay what is your name Wovec Montreal did you say Machado
Starting point is 01:47:45 hahahahha no Wovec I'm sorry I didn't get that can you say that again Boivin did you say Machane
Starting point is 01:47:56 like a different no what is your name Boivin did you say Boivin Boivin Boivin yes
Starting point is 01:48:08 and that's the number they told me they gave me to change the phone number I get to the end goodbye there was nothing there there was nothing it was a dead end so then I call again
Starting point is 01:48:20 and hit zero the magic button to get a human and then I have to tell her my phone number twice have to explain the color of the bag three times all that shit checked it a few minutes ago
Starting point is 01:48:33 the bag is still marked as the wrong material wow and I have to wait five days to get like to even claim so which means I can't shave for the next five days because I'm not gonna buy a new fucking electric razor
Starting point is 01:48:47 and then get it back and then I have to mail in my receipts and all that shit I am so fucking pissed at American Airlines right now of note though everyone, yeah I got their clothes
Starting point is 01:49:00 my razor toothpaste toothbrush so all your expensive stuff like and these wonderful little crocheted paintings with heartfelt notes
Starting point is 01:49:10 written on the back that a fan gave to us for all of us they were really cute and it sucks that they're all I've just been like like Matt you and your fiancee
Starting point is 01:49:20 have recently like just started to bring me back into the whole like check in thing is like oh you can just do it it's fine if someone does it
Starting point is 01:49:28 we all have to do it anyway so the time doesn't save and I'm now going way back to where I started they're not gonna find it carry on kid they're not gonna find my bag carry on everything
Starting point is 01:49:37 that shit is gone so yeah PSA it happened to my brother and it showed up months later what it sometimes takes that long he got his thing
Starting point is 01:49:46 fucking but 98% of bags are returned to customers within 24 hours but it can take that long because it depends on where it ended up right somebody pulled it off the fucking conveyor belt in Chicago
Starting point is 01:49:58 and took it home that's what happened maybe don't suppose you had your your tag on it of course I did so you should be fine okay
Starting point is 01:50:06 unless somebody stole it eventually it'll go well yeah unless someone stole it not the airport tag you're a hybrid tag that's correct yeah
Starting point is 01:50:14 then you should be fine but like yeah PSA if you have a if you have a fuck what's it called a layover time that's greater than
Starting point is 01:50:22 10 hours check fucking 10 and also like I know you don't have every single step of the leg back
Starting point is 01:50:30 well yeah every single part of the process there was a problem I was saying like I'd still fly with American if I reserved the ticket and it was like a 10 minute layover
Starting point is 01:50:38 you know like the regular flight this was clearly an exceptional situation but also but I would never having customer service tell us I don't know why the mistake happened
Starting point is 01:50:46 having customer service lie to me no my bag was I'm never gonna pick having that shit happen I'm never gonna take an exceptional
Starting point is 01:50:54 flight with them oh my god never risking a huge layover with them fucking bullshit at the very minimum you should get a points reward out of that
Starting point is 01:51:02 or some shit so I asked him he was like are you guys gonna reimburse me for my time because I shouldn't have to call you to fix information
Starting point is 01:51:10 I already gave for you he's like um you'll have to talk to our claims department goodbye fuck it damn
Starting point is 01:51:19 wasted 15 hours of my time I'm gonna make up that I make $100 an hour and then then charge you for $3,000 I hate you
Starting point is 01:51:28 goodbye so good packs good packs great great convention I finally got to meet Austin but no we'd go again
Starting point is 01:51:36 we'll go again we'll go again we'll go again we'll go again well not your race what do you guys do ah shit 140 into this
Starting point is 01:51:44 I could make this but that's different no of course not that's packs we got a lot of game news in there it's a packscast
Starting point is 01:51:52 that's super legit just make it sure your packscast I am I'm at the moment I'm not wooly I'm a voice playing through a digital file
Starting point is 01:52:00 it's people's ears exactly that's crazy you're a bard of the times skipping skipping print yes yes
Starting point is 01:52:08 I celebrated my birthday last week last week happy birthday happy happy birthday none of you were here but that's fine hey we made you a little video
Starting point is 01:52:21 there you go that was really sweet because I saw that little video you guys made of cormarty high which is really adorable and I saw it while looking at
Starting point is 01:52:30 tiger balls because my fiance brought me to back track on it my fiance brought me to park safari which is the one where you just
Starting point is 01:52:40 drive through animals and they poke their heads in my dad at one point punched a zebra in the face at park safari and the lion enclosure is
Starting point is 01:52:51 you're actually going in translucent tubes in the lion and tiger and doing like Jurassic Park so they're all laying on top of the the warm
Starting point is 01:53:00 like tube and they're just chilling out and we had lots and lots of fun doing this I have literal footage of lions balls being exposed
Starting point is 01:53:09 on stream now there you go so that was that was really really fun it's like driving through the red light district in GTA except with
Starting point is 01:53:17 drafts a little bit we brought lots of rock rap CDs to play during the ride over and during the drive through animals
Starting point is 01:53:25 so please look forward to Matt's fun animal venture quest video we're going to hear a lot of Kid Rock and a lot of DMX
Starting point is 01:53:34 did you turn on any of those animals to Kid Rock? I had some conversions for sure and there's some great footage of like
Starting point is 01:53:43 one of the most evil creatures known to man the ostrich just bobbing its head to like just trying to slam beastie boys in the car
Starting point is 01:53:51 did you catch a llama telling anyone what time it was? there were llamas there are lots of pretty much every pack of Durham boring careful about llamas
Starting point is 01:53:59 they have teeth specifically to tear out your testicles it's not great those fuckers can spit and not give a shit that morning we also enjoyed
Starting point is 01:54:07 together breakfast yes which was which was made breakfast the best meal of the day together breakfast I'm just looking
Starting point is 01:54:15 at the popcorn I'm like oh she made together breakfast together breakfast oh god yeah and I'm looking at the popcorn
Starting point is 01:54:23 I'm like I don't want to eat the popcorn it's like just for the garnish it's fine but together breakfast was fun
Starting point is 01:54:31 and it got a really special gift which is the full red panda kirigumi which kirigumi which literally
Starting point is 01:54:39 feels like I'm not wearing much at all yep I would imagine so but it's the comfiest thing I'm sure cranky will be proud
Starting point is 01:54:47 so you better just start wearing your dick did you bring it into a tanuki suit it's pretty much that because I just waggle my butt
Starting point is 01:54:55 and I knock things over because the tail is that potent oh cool I also went with some of friends on her side and we went to
Starting point is 01:55:03 a play cv we also went to our local arcade that we all know but Liam remembers that I got really excited because I was going
Starting point is 01:55:11 well there's three new light gun games there's Jurassic Park which just came out this year there's by Raw Thrills
Starting point is 01:55:19 there's the Transformers light gun game made by Sega it's not by Namco it's by Sega had Sega all over it and then
Starting point is 01:55:27 a new aliens game aliens something that's cel-shaded what it's crazy they're all light gun games now it's made by
Starting point is 01:55:35 Raw Thrills as well and I would think it was made by Sega but it's not Raw Thrills is like the guys that actually make
Starting point is 01:55:43 all American arcades now every single cabinet and the big standout winner was the Jurassic Park one is just
Starting point is 01:55:51 fucking crazy you actually have three scenarios for a bunch of different dinos and you have to trap them and you can fail at trapping them and it just
Starting point is 01:55:59 boots you out you're like try again idiot and you go against the Spinosaurus and you get all these crazy weapons you get
Starting point is 01:56:07 freeze-raising shotguns and thunder shit it was actually the standout winner I was like oh this is so much fun
Starting point is 01:56:15 you go inside and you have a little turret and that was the most fun by far that's cool I really want to go try them I really enjoyed that
Starting point is 01:56:23 I finished completely finished Korra you and Pat finished Korra finished it I haven't I have finished it so I'm going to dance around it
Starting point is 01:56:32 real second but I like the ending of Korra but it does smack of we should have probably peppered this throughout the series
Starting point is 01:56:40 supposedly they wanted to but they didn't have the chance because episodes got cut or something and I understand that Nickelodeon is probably a very stringent
Starting point is 01:56:49 please don't do this oh they were apparently quite against it they were against it but they let them do the thing the pairing that they have towards the end
Starting point is 01:56:58 where they're just like okay you can do that and I was like well when's Korra season 5 going to start okay now now it's forever though and I noticed
Starting point is 01:57:06 that there was news that I must have missed just this past July that Korra season 5 is going to start wait really in comic book form only
Starting point is 01:57:14 which I'm like which I'm like wow Nickelodeon was like no you just can't do this I would get Korra paradigms lost
Starting point is 01:57:24 yeah I'm kind of like I really want to see that goes but comic book form is just you're so used to like the best fighting
Starting point is 01:57:33 animations in American cartoons ever it bothers you you don't get that anymore and the previous Korra comics
Starting point is 01:57:41 are not very good these are written by the main head guys though I don't know if the other ones were but it bothers me but if anyone told me
Starting point is 01:57:49 Korra was the least profitable thing Nickelodeon ever made I would believe it sure I doubt it was actually I really doubt it was but I don't think it was
Starting point is 01:57:57 much of a seller because that demographic isn't the type to buy stuff I guess so I also saw straight out of Compton yo which would be fun
Starting point is 01:58:05 if we could mix that and Korra together straight out of Republic City well memed by friends we we we
Starting point is 01:58:14 saw on the news that it is the highest grossing music biopic ever ever thank you CNN for that
Starting point is 01:58:22 breaking head and finally after three weeks of peace there's finally been a shooting at a straight out of Compton viewing
Starting point is 01:58:30 so because I was getting worried for a minute there good job America nothing makes like Dre and Cube
Starting point is 01:58:38 look like pussies I'm getting shot at their movie right but a train wreck there's some shit going on really you know
Starting point is 01:58:46 a real standout do you know who's really going to play an ice cube ice cube son because really yes
Starting point is 01:58:54 that's a thing in that movie his son plays him and he looks exactly like would you prefer the old ice cube
Starting point is 01:59:02 be playing as young ice cube his ice cube hasn't aged a day really you're right he's been a guy of the movie
Starting point is 01:59:10 like the guy that plays Dre has probably the hardest time because Dre never strikes me as a his voice raises
Starting point is 01:59:18 with anger it's always the same like not very emotional same guy Dre has spent billions of dollars making sure no one
Starting point is 01:59:26 has seen him in most of the movie it's great so you know it's like I was always like walk the line it's like that gif
Starting point is 01:59:34 of Kanye unsmiling at NBA yeah I always kind of like walk the line I just love it so much and it's all it's the best musical
Starting point is 01:59:42 biopic but I'm like it's also a time that I was not cognitive I like that movie but it's also super fake
Starting point is 01:59:50 it's great it's super fake well there's some super fake shit I like this one too well does this I mean this B-Rabbit M&M
Starting point is 01:59:58 show up in the alternate timeline no no imagine little like 18 year old Dre looks at little 5 year old
Starting point is 02:00:06 like one day you'll be big yeah and he's got his hair blonde already wearing a mini M&M and he's already
Starting point is 02:00:14 locking his 5 year old girlfriend in the back of his 3 wheeler like all kids won't know if that's M one day
Starting point is 02:00:22 one day and he's like it's the Bruce Lee Ip Man thing isn't it so that was really good I played
Starting point is 02:00:30 two games I played a Pax Prime game actually really well the first one the Pax Prime game is it just came out on steam
Starting point is 02:00:38 an isometric space horror game called Stasis Stasis which it's two defining takeaways are
Starting point is 02:00:46 we are Event Horizon meets Sanitarium the old PC point click that I used to play back in the day
Starting point is 02:00:54 and I only played a couple of like I only played about an hour and I got stuck on the first what do I do I don't have
Starting point is 02:01:02 the item because you click and I go just pressing just pressing buttons trying to get I eventually got through it and it's
Starting point is 02:01:10 it's quite good and it's really good sound design it's fucking cinematic trailers not showing me anything bad I'll probably
Starting point is 02:01:18 if you watched it it would I'll probably get back to it but yeah it's quite good but the Pax Prime game I played that I saw some previews for the weekend
Starting point is 02:01:26 and I was like what's this and it was a kick starter game is called Through the Woods and it's a psychological fair person game made out of
Starting point is 02:01:34 Oslo and it takes a Norse mythology a little bit where you play you play as a woman and she's the adventure is over
Starting point is 02:01:42 she's retelling the story to a psychiatrist so as you go through the game and see things it's that Prince of Persia Sands of Time thing
Starting point is 02:01:51 she goes well this is what happened next and then you'll see a thing and she'll go oh that's my son's bubble jacket
Starting point is 02:01:59 he used to wear it all the time and the psychiatrist went to the next and it's a lot of sort of it didn't happen that way and as
Starting point is 02:02:07 not not not quite to Bastian's level because there's long stretches of silence and she'll go then I saw something and then you'll see
Starting point is 02:02:15 something and it got quite creepy towards the end but it was only about a ten minute demo and they displayed it at
Starting point is 02:02:23 Pax Prime and that's where I read the preview of it so I went to the kick starter page and I was like
Starting point is 02:02:31 are we just missed it it was just a tiny kick starter with a tiny goal okay but I actually quite enjoyed it and it got
Starting point is 02:02:39 pretty creepy towards the end and just as it got creepy like that was it it just kind of ended there it was like 15 minutes long so
Starting point is 02:02:47 okay I enjoyed that and the last two kind of things is that I was walking with the missus down the street
Starting point is 02:02:55 and I go I'm going to go over here and get those coffees where are you going to go and eventually this is a very normal story so far
Starting point is 02:03:03 I start going alright where is she and eventually I get a call and she's crying and she goes oh my god
Starting point is 02:03:11 oh my god you won't believe what happened to me and I'm like what's wrong she goes meet me over here and I meet her over there and I go
Starting point is 02:03:19 what is it she goes so I'm walking to where I'm going this old lady says can you help me please I'm holding these flowers
Starting point is 02:03:27 and I go I'm holding these flowers and she and the ones I can't climb these steps very easily I'll just wait for you here just bring them up there
Starting point is 02:03:35 and I go okay and then I go then what happened she goes so I go up there and there's it's in a church
Starting point is 02:03:43 and there's a priest there and he goes oh thank you very much please put those over there and just as she's walking by the priest goes can you please
Starting point is 02:03:51 sign this guest book for everyone and she looks over and there's an open coffin and she goes okay and then the priest goes
Starting point is 02:03:59 like are you who are you and she goes I she didn't know what to say yeah of course and she goes I'm just
Starting point is 02:04:07 a friend or something and he goes okay and then she goes over to the guest book and signs and then he taps
Starting point is 02:04:15 from the shoulder and goes man did you do that and she looks over and the body's arms are all over the place they're hanging in a completely different
Starting point is 02:04:23 position because man did you kiss his forehead and he goes no no I didn't and then a guy
Starting point is 02:04:31 points over there just for last gags so if people don't know these are silent basically we all know someone who's got this
Starting point is 02:04:42 candid camera kind of things where it's not really talking that much it's more of like an actual they never know what language
Starting point is 02:04:50 it's gonna be it's more physical like you can clearly see what's going on what the gags it's gonna slap some gags
Starting point is 02:04:58 like people looking up on the street and everyone looks up and they trap random people my favorite is a blind guy stops dudes on the street
Starting point is 02:05:07 and asks them to help them and they have a hot blonde come over and distract the person helping and they slide out a piece of wood and the blind guy goes
Starting point is 02:05:15 oh and he's like oh my face how could you not help me we've wrapped a few of them before they're kind of mean
Starting point is 02:05:23 sometimes that would be sort of in people getting super like anxious everyone usually laughs when the camera moment happens
Starting point is 02:05:31 not when there's death involved I guess but she was like so relieved but she was still like a nervous wreck for like an hour later
Starting point is 02:05:39 I can't wait to see the episode so they said that it's gonna be like they tell you the whole thing that's gonna be showing up in winter
Starting point is 02:05:47 this episode and like we can tell you if you're gonna be on it or not and we get like 100 people like the best one
Starting point is 02:05:55 she was just like really like I can't believe that happened to me and she said the same thing crying Tina desecrated her body and the last thing
Starting point is 02:06:03 is that you guys have been over my place the last couple of times the crab apple war in front of my fucking is getting to
Starting point is 02:06:11 what did I call them the fucking like the whatever the gross apples we have this tree in front of my place and it drops
Starting point is 02:06:19 all these fucking nasty useless fruits that do nothing and satiate no appetites and all it does is gross me out
Starting point is 02:06:27 and every fucking night I sweep this shit off I'm screaming and every morning I go out and I fall to my knees and I go
Starting point is 02:06:35 crab apples because they're back and I look up and there's still more to come you know what you do you take your broom
Starting point is 02:06:43 and you beat the shit out of the branches I can't because it's a solid fucking tree so I no nothing no the branch
Starting point is 02:06:51 it's too high it's a linear it's a linear tree it's a linear tree there's no way there's no way a lineage of tree with no purpose other than
Starting point is 02:06:59 to talk all it does is it just goes on our part of the sidewalk on our spare
Starting point is 02:07:07 every other house it doesn't touch so I'm fucking contacting my landlord I'm like here here are pictures it attracts
Starting point is 02:07:15 flies it looks gross it only affects me can we talk about cutting this down only if the city says it helps nothing
Starting point is 02:07:23 and they have a tree the actual homeowners like the the landlords they're building that they're part of the families and they have a nice tree with no fruits in it
Starting point is 02:07:33 and theirs is not affected like it doesn't affect their view or skyline so you're letting them cut it down and plant any other kind of tree that
Starting point is 02:07:41 anything you know what it's time for right it's time for midnight tree cutting by strangers right oh god they stole the tree
Starting point is 02:07:49 yeah exactly the Shelbyville lemon tree I didn't do it it wasn't me when you here's video footage of me for 10 hours I was sleeping
Starting point is 02:07:59 at the time what do you mean these all plants are protected by the city yeah so I fucking hate that thing I hope it dies
Starting point is 02:08:08 the end fuck it you could sabotage it you could just pour salt water on the earth around it all yeah it'll die but then you'll also
Starting point is 02:08:16 ruin the earth and not be able to plant another tree here's a problem here's a problem I can't ask for it to be cut down and if I get denied
Starting point is 02:08:24 if anything happens to the tree it'll be on a watch if it dies you can cut down they'll suspect me we can protect it like
Starting point is 02:08:32 it's not the movement like what you like we can do I have to jump in front of this tree and take a bullet for it is that the only way I can prove
Starting point is 02:08:40 we had a giant fucking like almost oak like thing in my backyard that would like break our house's roof and like shatter the foundations
Starting point is 02:08:48 and fall off and basically like if they can't remove it what they can do is de-branch the shit that comes over here in Florida
Starting point is 02:08:56 do you remember this after last year I don't remember this happening last summer do you remember I don't remember I don't remember do these things
Starting point is 02:09:04 bloom like every two years it means the branches have grown to a point where they are now over your porch so you need to cut them branches
Starting point is 02:09:12 it waits for your life to reach peak satisfaction maybe we can just ask for the prank some of the branches over in fucking Toronto what do you
Starting point is 02:09:21 do in Toronto what do you do shit on the fucking floor just like everyone else poor hater a fistinator asking
Starting point is 02:09:29 why all you guys hate Toronto so much go haps well yeah the funny part is riding a fucking megabus back to Montreal
Starting point is 02:09:37 it's probably super cold and the only thing I had because I didn't bring any sweaters with me was a blanket
Starting point is 02:09:45 provided by I was like you can't be for real this is the only thing I had why did I end up in this timeline I would rather freeze
Starting point is 02:09:57 so you didn't use the blanket I eventually used the blanket this job not pissing off the family your girlfriend I was in the back
Starting point is 02:10:06 of the bus and I wrapped it backwards and folded it upside down and nobody saw nothing it was fine why do you
Starting point is 02:10:14 got that police playing to shit on we need a carpet to walk on when we get off the bus you guys you're on a bus
Starting point is 02:10:23 with people that also were just in Toronto with you but Toronto hates them they need to know they were getting away from that shit there's an exodus man
Starting point is 02:10:32 the real answer that question is that it's fun to hate Toronto it's so much fun oh god no but whatever
Starting point is 02:10:41 I went out there for a friend having the beer Olympics in which we all had to represent different countries play these different games and whatnot
Starting point is 02:10:50 did you represent Granada? no actually I represented Japan with Hachimaki and everything okay with the headband very accurate Olympics
Starting point is 02:10:58 you represented Granada there was no Granada there's no nobody else could have taken Japan you say nobody drinks in Granada not beer hasn't
Starting point is 02:11:06 made it down there yet they're still they're still working on sorrow and mobby no so whatever it was fun and I got to play games like beer pong
Starting point is 02:11:15 and flip cup for the first time I've never touched those types of games not no quarters plug in the cups easy when you get it once you figure it out
Starting point is 02:11:24 you know but beer pong and then giant beer pong with trash cans way harder than it looks and slap cup which is like it's like a group
Starting point is 02:11:33 like 30 people around the table doing their own localized beer pong where if you get it you can slap the person's cup next to yours and shit you know what
Starting point is 02:11:41 it was fun I was going in like ah this is fucking alright let's do the the frat house games and it was like you know I know this is a good time you know
Starting point is 02:11:49 so there is a just like your last newly discovered interest of roller derby there is also a We Wear game for you that will cover
Starting point is 02:12:01 really so you're good Yeah We Wear has every niche interest covered I got Japan got a bronze medal we got bronze medals
Starting point is 02:12:10 Japan alright um on the way there I read sex criminals volume 2 um that's the
Starting point is 02:12:18 the mat fraction series I was talking about where people slow time down by having sex I almost bought the first volume while I was in the airport but I noticed that
Starting point is 02:12:26 the American cover the American prices were higher than the Canadian prices with the exchange with the MSRP a significant margin
Starting point is 02:12:35 come to Canada if you want cheap comics America just wait um to interesting departure
Starting point is 02:12:43 from some of the things set up in the first one but still really solid um it's all it was interesting because like the first one
Starting point is 02:12:51 was kind of like the meeting of these two characters that are falling in an intense like lustful romance that's kind of like shallow
Starting point is 02:12:59 but it was also like like oh shit discovering another person who has my power like a unique kind of thing and then the second one kind of
Starting point is 02:13:07 goes into like the more yeah now now where we at yeah and it kind of and it gets like gets pretty uncomfortable at moments
Starting point is 02:13:15 but still pretty fun and worth keeping up with solid book and you know most of the rest of the week was spent with Street Fighter 5 right Street Fighter 5
Starting point is 02:13:23 and Yomi lots of Yomi on that bus because that kills time good uh yeah I'm legendary status now and like the best part
Starting point is 02:13:31 about legendary status is you see your overall ranking well really yes cool so where are you at I'm of legendary
Starting point is 02:13:39 numerically like uh well I think it uses the global system so the moment you get in it starts showing you the
Starting point is 02:13:47 not the actual ranking number but your universal number and I yeah but how many people in legendary like
Starting point is 02:13:55 well there is 104 people above me oh wow so it is like the 1% kind of thing the fighting games
Starting point is 02:14:03 need to do that I spoke to Kamofin actually about about rankings other than yes they are looking at that shit holy shit and they want to do something
Starting point is 02:14:11 similar the BP system for 4 is just I hate it it's not good enough like cause it's not even that the numbers are the problem
Starting point is 02:14:19 or even having two different grades they're also very abstract but it's just so hard to understand in a glance what they mean like it's really not great
Starting point is 02:14:27 as one of the first like stabs at an online fighting game ranking system it was it was like a unique take on it yeah
Starting point is 02:14:35 it's just dated and there's so much better now it feels like a math league came up with the system and was like this is accurately perfect yeah it's like true skill
Starting point is 02:14:43 but better and this is totally and I need to know how many ranks above me the guy is but people at a glance can't read that information no
Starting point is 02:14:51 exactly you know a little inaccuracy is fine so if general readability is better so yeah resident vendor
Starting point is 02:14:59 you hit legendary and it's like alright you're in there's no more legendary like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 yeah it's all you're now
Starting point is 02:15:07 it now just says and you can still get bumped out right you can get bumped out and then do you lose the number thing yes but once you're back in
Starting point is 02:15:15 you know where you stand longer yeah of course and that's fucking cool does it show you how many people are playing that number's gone that was just
Starting point is 02:15:23 the early ass bill I would appreciate that that was cool at the time but it also kind of shows like when the game is dying out I think if you see that number
Starting point is 02:15:31 going down and that's not a good number well on Steve exactly so you can see any game die out alive that's true shit
Starting point is 02:15:40 I really you can see when a game bombs like you can look at the numbers in real time yeah
Starting point is 02:15:48 this game came out today like that's how people were able to tell that a holy shit called duty on PC is fucking dead what I mean they're going to keep the waiting numbers
Starting point is 02:15:56 so you can see how many people die out with you yeah that makes sense for sure yeah nothing much for me okay yeah let's do it
Starting point is 02:16:04 let's get into that let's get into the news let's get CNN's really bad yeah CNN's super when I told my girlfriend that I had to watch CNN all day
Starting point is 02:16:12 she like snorted and laughed her because she knows yeah this is well this has been like the
Starting point is 02:16:20 CNN's been ridiculed by like every side for a while now just because of their like comedic fucking like they showed that
Starting point is 02:16:28 goddamn clip of Putin working out fucking every hour all day or just like the moments of back when like John Stuart
Starting point is 02:16:36 went on a fucking crossfire yeah just disassembled them but it's like why are you that was not
Starting point is 02:16:44 CNN though was it that was CNN after which one he was on the crossfire show I just disassembled them systematically it was beautiful
Starting point is 02:16:52 because it was like they're going why are you asking such soft-hitting questions Johnny he's like I'm really glad that the news network is taking
Starting point is 02:17:00 their cues you know like it was just but anyway yeah if you have to watch so we're doing like the five Metal Gear stories first
Starting point is 02:17:08 or what I mean let's just you know let's take it as it is but obviously we've got to keep time in mind the bit where the white police
Starting point is 02:17:16 guy was like a police officer died today and then the the black lives matter guy was like yeah but a black guy
Starting point is 02:17:24 dies every 28 hours from police one died yesterday one died today and the the police guy didn't say but yeah but a white guy
Starting point is 02:17:32 died and that's what we're talking about now that's pretty fucked it was like even more fucked is like and even let like the hours
Starting point is 02:17:40 cut down like even shorter when it's like a black guy killing another one well there was the fucking ones so that's
Starting point is 02:17:48 yeah hey politics cats did we talk about the gun violence thing it's fucking crazy it's nuts
Starting point is 02:17:56 I'm making a cut face we have to talk no hey hey and somehow that bullet will find its way to me
Starting point is 02:18:04 so please as a as a respected officer of the law it will deviate from its no we just
Starting point is 02:18:12 touched on it briefly every police officer stars and wanted the the the
Starting point is 02:18:20 the the the black child in his home cop school that's how they do it exactly
Starting point is 02:18:28 oh that was a really bad one with anyway moving on moving on what the guy who surrendered earlier today and just shot
Starting point is 02:18:36 no the fucking nine year old girl that got shot oh we can't even contract let's move on there's too many too many fuck man
Starting point is 02:18:44 it's not even including ah fuck can we talk about Ryu's hot chiseled fucking we already did I know
Starting point is 02:18:52 but more the accompanied story being that there's there's costumes there are retailer exclusive right now and that's a bummer but you know what
Starting point is 02:19:00 who cares cause it's gonna be like I'm gonna bomb now before they get released it still sucks it's for the initial release
Starting point is 02:19:08 it's a not great thing to do like of all the lessons Capcom could take from other fighting games why take one of the worst from it's because they want it
Starting point is 02:19:16 because they want to sell it at these retailers and the retailers literally tell them to sell it at our store you need to give us something but you know and they
Starting point is 02:19:24 and that clout works they need that retail space they can't give you the wink wink nudge nudge give it a minute you'll get them all soon now Goro was ridiculous
Starting point is 02:19:32 Goro was crazy at least these are just costumes but I feel you yeah totally and I don't have I kind of think that's Warner Brothers
Starting point is 02:19:41 and that's fine I expect that even though I like I think Capcom like should be at least it's not like
Starting point is 02:19:49 mankind divided well we'll get there we'll get there but I was gonna say that like I'm really like I expect that it won't be as bad as like Tekken was
Starting point is 02:19:57 with some of those knockouts and whatnot within within weeks you know what I imagine these are gonna be you're gonna be able to buy them day one
Starting point is 02:20:05 but these give you vouchers for a free one or something like that even then which is that's very likely what it's gonna be well because they have to
Starting point is 02:20:13 have a lot of content day one for you to buy with your coins and stuff there's gonna be the first I bet the first wave of costumes will be there right away
Starting point is 02:20:21 but I can't care more than like halfway because fucking it's cosmetics at the end of the day for sure
Starting point is 02:20:30 so I still have a thing where it's just like it's still cosmetics but whatever the costumes themselves though they're some of the best ever fucking amazing I don't care
Starting point is 02:20:39 for Bison's too much I like his beard I like his beard that's the one thing his other costume is just like so we just say it doesn't blow my mind
Starting point is 02:20:48 it doesn't put beards on every street fighter character well no it's all I can it's the other thing that we always say we need to see time passing
Starting point is 02:20:57 yeah that's kind of what it is a sense of time passing as you move forward as the best and for a lot of the characters we got that but for Ryu we didn't
Starting point is 02:21:06 but this costume kind of pulls it back and like it makes sense Ryu's got to be front and center on the box like we're not telling you if the chain just closed
Starting point is 02:21:14 that would make sense just take some of them off just take some of them off exactly Alex was a bit far but something in the middle might be appreciated yeah
Starting point is 02:21:23 and I think we're getting there big ol' beer face yeah I'm hyper excited to see where they go with my I can't wait till he has Nikali and like
Starting point is 02:21:31 the other characters yeah take clothes off Nikali first where they go with Nikali I don't know where you go with that do you mean for the DLC costume yeah oh I thought you meant
Starting point is 02:21:39 for the future games he's in the suit yeah that's gotta be it right he's in the suit he's got the dress oh yeah the obvious is Swap Armica and Nadeshiko
Starting point is 02:21:47 yeah I've been saying that all week I don't think Nadeshiko's gonna be a costume for Armica I think Nadeshiko's gonna be a character in that second wave and Armica will be a different tag
Starting point is 02:21:55 in I think it's gonna be good in games because why would you make that model like without intent to use it then how do your tag fights happen
Starting point is 02:22:03 I mean how do you how do you do that in reverse yeah yeah or do you have a different feature I don't think do you do like an agonist
Starting point is 02:22:11 agonist battle where it's just like you don't have tag moves when you fight your partner no give Mika or give her a different feature entirely I don't think it'll be a swap
Starting point is 02:22:19 I think she'll be like a Yun and Yang style character that would be interesting though their bodies look so identical when they do stand side by side but still
Starting point is 02:22:27 it's like saying well Yun will be a swap for Yang no you just have Yun and Yang you know you know I prefer it with a nice completely different move
Starting point is 02:22:35 same same it'd be fun I like her more I like her more the costume could be Armica and Nadeshiko swapping costumes
Starting point is 02:22:43 but not actually being swapping characters so the hair stays yeah like exactly like a costume swap would be great I don't want the character swap because then
Starting point is 02:22:51 the face is different but it's still Mika's voice and like I don't like it when the voice stays the same and stuff like and the end like the slight differences
Starting point is 02:22:59 like how Mika runs around in a circle when she wins like I don't want Nadeshiko doing that that's not her you know she's all stoic
Starting point is 02:23:07 and shit it's like a full on like like La Parka or fucking Golda style like wrestling outfit
Starting point is 02:23:15 for her I want to see what she's got as alts yeah for sure so you know you got that stuff we got some
Starting point is 02:23:23 the other big confusing but awesome but still confusing news is the Shovel Knight Amiibo that's confirmed but not official but still
Starting point is 02:23:32 sort of official no it's official it's official but it's being paid for by Yacht Club no it's
Starting point is 02:23:40 it's Nintendo so the story is an Amiibo so the story came out the story came out holy shit that's fucking cool I thought that was fake
Starting point is 02:23:48 and I'm wondering is that the clue that's gonna say hey this is who we're getting as the chosen contest winner I hope so I hope so that'd be cool
Starting point is 02:23:57 I can't speak on the subject but I know a lot about it okay and um it sucks because I want to say stuff
Starting point is 02:24:05 but I can't okay well don't don't don't don't don't don't
Starting point is 02:24:13 don't don't don't don't don't just don't just
Starting point is 02:24:23 don't just just just just just just won't
Starting point is 02:24:30 Embri buttons please because longtemps this this this plus
Starting point is 02:24:38 arcos arcos suppose I mean an extension of Nintendo took over the whole production of
Starting point is 02:24:47 every amiibo whereas here there's like like another company's coming in to do this and it's kind of okay I'm just gonna say it makes me think that like
Starting point is 02:24:56 amiibos are like possibly I'm just going to say it because I asked another person at another team Nintendo's just coming around and asking do you want to make
Starting point is 02:25:06 an amiibo and yacht club was just the first to say yes and get it all done okay and I know this on very good not from yacht club
Starting point is 02:25:16 I don't want to say who the other people were but they're looking into it Nintendo just like when new hardware comes out they went around and they said hey you want one
Starting point is 02:25:25 and yacht club just did it first and got all the paperwork out of the way I'm glad it was them that's first because like they're the perfect one
Starting point is 02:25:33 it'll skyrocket like shovel nights kind of visibility because people would just want to get it and then they'll be like well who the fuck is this they're the perfect one for sure
Starting point is 02:25:41 and from what I know from those other guys as well is Nintendo is bank rolling and everything well so what I was getting at there was that basically the introduction of this
Starting point is 02:25:53 with yacht club having input on its production is kind of like introducing amiibos as a platform that other people will be able to bring their characters into and choose how they want to go about this instead of kind of handing
Starting point is 02:26:08 the whole thing off it seems there's been non-Nintendo designs for amiibos so so there's been there's been designs for amiibos that aren't made by Nintendo really? yeah
Starting point is 02:26:20 like the Skylander Supercharged ones oh yeah that's true right yeah that's true I think those are the only ones though yeah that's kind of why I was confused it was like the older has it but
Starting point is 02:26:33 all signs point to cool things with this yeah definitely we've got the cancellation of the last gen versions of MKX which is the least surprising thing ever it's shocking it took this long to do it
Starting point is 02:26:45 I've always been told under also very good authority that these are the worst shit versions you've ever seen of anything when me and william were talking about it we he kept saying over and over and he was right it's like dude I gotta get a fucking ps3 copy
Starting point is 02:26:59 of Shadow of Mordor I need to get one of them before they're all gone that fucking pile of shit I need to have it the thing is I guess the litmus test is I heard this news
Starting point is 02:27:08 did you go those games didn't come out and if so then that means they're rightfully cancelled my mind was I can't they didn't already cancel them
Starting point is 02:27:17 I thought they were cancelled because originally they were supposed to come out day in day with the xbox one then they got delayed by like two months then it got delayed to like six months out like now or November
Starting point is 02:27:30 and now it's just basically just like we're canceling this shit like I think if sales were still strong for ps3 and xbox 360 it would be worth it but if they're not well we've moved in
Starting point is 02:27:41 you know what I mean it's been like two years we've moved in exactly there's a threshold point where I would go back and forth with that and say no go ahead it's a new house
Starting point is 02:27:49 we're in yeah like otherwise like if the sales were still good I'd be like well should it just fucking done like you did with mk9 on the VDAD
Starting point is 02:27:57 bombed the graphics but made it play good but the sales aren't worth it at this point there's just no money there anymore and so we've got I guess
Starting point is 02:28:06 the first news coming out about with an image for Michael Fassbender in Assassin's Creed he looks too small for the clothes they look so big
Starting point is 02:28:16 the costume looks pretty loose what I like is that this is like actually supposed to be like not in Assassin's not in Assassin's Creed 1 movie they're just making
Starting point is 02:28:28 Assassin's Creed for a movie yes and they're doing they're doing the animus surely this will answer all our questions yeah no
Starting point is 02:28:36 this time everything the truth will come out I'm still sad if that was their tagline and nothing came from it like yeah
Starting point is 02:28:44 if I could complain about anything is I really wish it was just Nikolai hi maybe we'll never because I don't want to play him in Chronicles form anymore yeah we'll never get it
Starting point is 02:28:53 but god damn would that be great I'm glad the other Chronicles games have like disappeared because I'm really hoping that they come back improved you know what I mean
Starting point is 02:29:02 yeah I really hope they're taking it to heart because those games could make a lot of bank because of the branding on them just they need to make good games to go with it
Starting point is 02:29:10 and the fact that the groundwork for the fall is already impeccable it's like don't fuck that out yeah exactly really hoping that we've got
Starting point is 02:29:18 the other news we're getting a Borderlands movie from Landscape yeah that came out this weekend at the Borderlands panel right I think that's crazy because
Starting point is 02:29:26 Randy Pitchford pulled the movie out of his head well the Borderlands 2 did over 6 million units in very quick form Michael Packer said
Starting point is 02:29:34 it was going to be a huge wasted franchise that wouldn't go anywhere that was for the first one right yeah because I'm like probably playing that since then
Starting point is 02:29:42 it's fun it's kind of my most fun no just to see the because it's the problems at Lionsgate Lionsgate is a very yeah
Starting point is 02:29:50 yeah because they they were generally just a shitty like underground not underground a shitty like horror crap
Starting point is 02:29:58 license shit thing because of what was it um um uh Hunger Games they just got the license
Starting point is 02:30:06 for just kind of chat that out just going oh hopefully this is a big holy shit yeah and now they're kind of
Starting point is 02:30:14 they can they're still doing the it's not the name you want to see attached to they're still doing the Power Rangers movie aren't they maybe
Starting point is 02:30:22 they get a lot of licenses and nothing comes comes of it so you know nothing might Saber Rider
Starting point is 02:30:31 this okay Star Sheriff so Saber Riders and the Star Sheriff for 3DS has been like was announced
Starting point is 02:30:39 like three or four years ago yeah and it has always been a title I remember the box that was announced
Starting point is 02:30:47 yeah there was some weird news about a game the 3DS game was announced ages ago and it was always one of those games that was like
Starting point is 02:30:55 maybe next year maybe next year for that and a PC and a steamer as well yeah but the 3DS version is intact
Starting point is 02:31:03 which is awesome and we still don't have direct footage we've got off screen play oh is there off screen play it's off screen play
Starting point is 02:31:11 but it's not really you know what I mean I thought it was just mock up shots it was like you saw full 3DS with top and bottom screens like some video
Starting point is 02:31:19 okay excuse me but that is a license I care about yeah cool things happen it's fucking awesome
Starting point is 02:31:27 it's a fucking Kickstarter right yeah like that like if you don't know what that is that's fine cause this was an anime that got dubbed
Starting point is 02:31:35 in 1989 it was so a little while ago way very old you know um take a look at that it was
Starting point is 02:31:43 fucking a ramrod man ramrod looks cool uh we've got the announcement of wester mode in resident evil
Starting point is 02:31:51 dude it looks so cool it looks awesome it looks like this is in canon by the way it's super not canon right yeah it can't be it's not it can't be
Starting point is 02:31:59 it says powered by urroboros which is wrong which is so he has all his power and also
Starting point is 02:32:07 wester's powers activate when he's in the coma after being stabbed by the tyrant at the r1 sure but also
Starting point is 02:32:15 the fact that he's playing with Rebecca Rebecca who also has the power hold on I'm already telling you you know cause she's
Starting point is 02:32:23 controlled like Jill was at the end of the end of Rebecca like climbs out of like a mineshaft and like looks
Starting point is 02:32:32 and the r1 mansion is like 300 feet and she's like wow that place looks safe and it's the middle of the day so she just walks
Starting point is 02:32:40 over there doesn't she and then she in the story line she meets up with the other heroes she just walks
Starting point is 02:32:48 over there and gets in the mansion and then the heroes show up right afterwards there's a shooting guys normally like wesker should
Starting point is 02:32:56 be in that time frame that's okay that's kind of interest I guess the fact that a fantasy mode and that he's
Starting point is 02:33:04 doing his like marvel moves is like where people and they explode actually a lot
Starting point is 02:33:13 of those moves he has them in marvel but they actually come from reasonable 5 where you play him
Starting point is 02:33:21 in the multiplayer it's a kuma okay yeah I don't know if you remember but that was the EGN rumors that you could totally play through the entire game
Starting point is 02:33:30 as a kuma it's a fucking joke of a game Capcom does that shit they're one of the they've released Dead Rising 3 Super Turbo
Starting point is 02:33:39 Ultra HD Remix ok Gokin is a real character a kuma mode is not absurd well I someone pointed out
Starting point is 02:33:48 when you're talking about the possibility of a kuma making it into 5 they were like a kuma hasn't missed the title since he first arrived really shit since Super Turbo
Starting point is 02:33:56 yeah I guess so he has not missed the title changed his entire moveset to be completely different he wasn't a new generation make him a charged character he wasn't a new generation
Starting point is 02:34:05 he's in fucking T controls mode what no no in Street Fighter 5 oh you switched games back and forth then like yeah
Starting point is 02:34:14 give us a kuma mode that'd be cool and keep hunk and tofu in there tofu and hunk has to stay tofu gotta be in there just shun goku sassy yeah
Starting point is 02:34:24 or whatever or whatever we'll just have him play like he should play where his fists are super damaging melee weapons but he can still get thought fucking bitten
Starting point is 02:34:32 like do it he's a zombie give him a meter he's just super dumb strong and he conquers everything do it do it that'd be really cool actually
Starting point is 02:34:42 good on you for remembering that dude do you think I'm gonna forget like RE2 like rumors I want them to include fucking content with that RE1.5 shit man
Starting point is 02:34:52 I want that blue police station as an alternative so so RE Origins collection yeah that was announced today it was announced
Starting point is 02:35:01 physical good product good product we've got that's 0 and 1 together one of those is a good game and one
Starting point is 02:35:09 and one of them as one of them has a great fantasy mode yeah there you go that unfortunately you'll probably have to play the game no law
Starting point is 02:35:17 but you should I don't know you should have to play the game I hope not I'll buy that just for that shit oh yeah when I saw RE0 at PAX
Starting point is 02:35:25 I played it for a little bit there is some really embarrassing bugs going on with the visuals in that game right now you know PAX build and not final but like
Starting point is 02:35:33 all the FMV codecs that we're using are like busted like ancient 95 codecs where darkness would just be macro blocking
Starting point is 02:35:41 into green but to be fair I bet those are the types of bugs that RE1 would have like up until release like that game is all visual
Starting point is 02:35:49 it's just like the first area in that game is front-loaded with a lot of cutscenes so it's super obvious and like really ugly we've got the announcement
Starting point is 02:35:57 that TGS is here yo what Liam here's a PSA for you Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor on sale on PSN this week for $20 on PS3 okay
Starting point is 02:36:09 fuck yeah time to get in time to get in all the going is good we've got the announcement of a playable demo for Phoenix Wright 6
Starting point is 02:36:21 out of nowhere and you know they're actually making a game too yes and they'll localize it they promise which is like they have the 3D system now
Starting point is 02:36:29 why wouldn't you keep using it yeah the framework with an MC it's actually like less work that way yeah but
Starting point is 02:36:37 no that's really cool and they confirm they're gonna localize it which is great yeah good shit great the great ace attorney
Starting point is 02:36:45 still no oh I can not confirm we'll talk to you about that later oh yeah okay the podcast so
Starting point is 02:36:53 uh new levels of egregiousness fucking Takahata fucking came at me over that shit why
Starting point is 02:37:02 he loves doing that oh because he listens to the podcast yeah and he notices that I love to say egregious and he kept saying that
Starting point is 02:37:10 to me that's what I said it that way it's like a something like you would have brought it the problem is is that I was listening to him it's like
Starting point is 02:37:18 oh you're super right oh god no but um here we go uh welcome to the new world of kickstarter ask preordering
Starting point is 02:37:27 this isn't the first of it this is not the first one the well what we had before this was to raider where it was by preordering at a certain date that's not the one
Starting point is 02:37:35 you would get in different years no no I know I used to do that a lot too but this is actually not the first
Starting point is 02:37:43 date yeah okay so here's what we got we got I want to say daisex did it on pc we got daisex mankind divided not daisex 1
Starting point is 02:37:51 but mckayshin trillian did it earlier this year the same exact thing so daisex mankind divided but I think this is the first major like
Starting point is 02:37:59 yes kind of big ip sort of trying this out preorder now get your preorder stuff it lets you then this is actually something that I
Starting point is 02:38:07 well it's like there's a lot of options for what you want so you can customize if you want an art book and so is it is it pick and choose I didn't know
Starting point is 02:38:15 there's a pick and choose I didn't even bother and as you go further into the tiers it gives you more yeah and so basically by more people preordering
Starting point is 02:38:23 they globally unlock higher tier levels so that your preorder bonus gets bigger and bigger the last one is the most ridiculous of all because at the
Starting point is 02:38:31 final final level the game comes out four days early yeah which doesn't mean anything at all you know what I mean it's like
Starting point is 02:38:39 release the game four days early what it means is they fucking they got the they got it printed for the four days early and the game is gold already
Starting point is 02:38:47 and they're holding it for four days exactly the retailer will have it a week early when the game goes gold it can basically like there's like a shipping
Starting point is 02:38:55 you gotta wait for shipping but you can release the game any fucking time you want especially digitally I mean that said that you know it will probably hit that
Starting point is 02:39:03 just by virtue of it being so big and that'll be cool I guess for it to come out a bit early but now the only thing I can say is that
Starting point is 02:39:11 it's really really disgusting and I really hope that they learned their lesson the last game that did this as far as I know was
Starting point is 02:39:19 Makai Shin Trillion for its Japanese release and it had the same like level thing where it was like oh if we get to this level
Starting point is 02:39:27 we'll put a Neptunia cameo in the game if we get to this level we'll do this and it's the same gross thing but the only thing
Starting point is 02:39:35 I liked about that one that made it okay was each tier was very profitable slightly profitable very profitable like you kind of
Starting point is 02:39:43 got a financial metric on the game and for some reason that extra nugget of info just kind of made me intrigued
Starting point is 02:39:51 where like when it shipped it was at the slightly profitable so the game shipped slightly profitable and as like I'm a nut for sales
Starting point is 02:39:59 numbers so it was nice to see like a direct correlation of like this number made it slightly profitable so you can
Starting point is 02:40:07 extrapolate that it's not profitable and tell it publicly it's still nowhere near as bad as whatever Assassin's Creed game had that fucking gambling roulette shit
Starting point is 02:40:15 how did you know that was weird that was unity I think you got a spin at the wheel and you got a free thing spin at the wheel so when I first when I first
Starting point is 02:40:23 launched over the news I mistakenly assumed that what it was was there's different levels of special edition yeah which would have been fun and you just pick
Starting point is 02:40:32 which extras you want and that's cool exactly and I'm like in my head I'm like oh that's nice anything so I'd love to just be able to get that
Starting point is 02:40:40 and then tell your friends but it's sadly the opposite what's the saddest part to me is that like I spent like almost two years of my life
Starting point is 02:40:48 fucking playing Deus Ex Human Revolution we all did and well not not me not really worked on it longer I know
Starting point is 02:40:56 anyway but I love that game and I love the world and I'm sure Mankind Device is going to be great
Starting point is 02:41:04 and I think we all might have we all too and I don't I don't I don't feel like it needs this
Starting point is 02:41:12 bullshit yeah I feel like this is reserved for dumb like games that are of lower quality like Dead Island 1
Starting point is 02:41:20 or Home Front that need an extra gimmick to make you go oh yeah stand out from the crowd but like
Starting point is 02:41:28 Deus Ex is so it's one of the few like hypercore directed AAA franchises and so that's why you see this bullshit getting attached to it
Starting point is 02:41:36 because they know that the game itself is coming from solid hands no for sure it's a trusted name but can't you just
Starting point is 02:41:44 spend more money you know it's going to be good can't you just spend more marketing getting it out there and just you know getting the money
Starting point is 02:41:52 no because if this works it's fucking to the moon from here I know I know that's the gamble but I don't want this to succeed I think
Starting point is 02:42:00 in the months of planning it took to get to this at some point more time conceiving better special editions for the game
Starting point is 02:42:08 in order like because you get a special edition for let's say Street Fighter 4 right and you remember
Starting point is 02:42:16 the contents of that and it was the same as RE5 they were effectively RE5 and Street Fighter 4
Starting point is 02:42:24 were effectively the same just different branding and you look at the stuff and the cost of the materials was maybe like
Starting point is 02:42:32 $2 and making a good special edition I think they should have put way more effort in making a compelling special edition than this horseshit
Starting point is 02:42:40 because this horseshit is just like yeah okay like we're gonna we're gonna work a bit harder to make to make a few more
Starting point is 02:42:48 art assets for the game you know if you do this much well the fact that like the concern because the real concern here is it's not like it's not like
Starting point is 02:42:56 DLC where like oh shit these costumes are locked the real concern here is if we don't make these tiers will these costumes
Starting point is 02:43:04 exist and if they do it's like quadruple gross because it's like then we saw the art for them
Starting point is 02:43:12 that looks like fairly made and then they just don't ever release them because we don't make the tier oh that's impossible no they spent money on the assets
Starting point is 02:43:20 but that's what I'm saying if they don't make the tier it's quadruple gross if they release the costumes yeah I think which is why it's just it's just a
Starting point is 02:43:28 it's likely just like no here's your free stuff if you want to get in that's why it's just a rigged PR thing yeah because they know there's no way
Starting point is 02:43:36 they're not going to hit those minimum numbers and those are already made and that's a complete every single game that I've ever seen do this exact thing has always blown past
Starting point is 02:43:44 it's shit no problem it's like it's so rigged and the only one they might not get is the four days early one which watch they'll get
Starting point is 02:43:52 miraculously within the last month because obviously because you know it's not you know it's published yes it's always published
Starting point is 02:44:00 and like yeah it's literally Paul Market they have the like oh I didn't want to say it
Starting point is 02:44:08 but it's not actually improved it's not I know it's not but they have the LEGO blocks that make up the content of this game
Starting point is 02:44:16 physical and digital and then the marketing can decide to remix that however they want to we need you to make some some more little
Starting point is 02:44:24 one pieces so again until you see this happening with another big release then you get worried right now they're clearly trying this
Starting point is 02:44:32 out on something they know is going to sell and oh can you just remind me that character skins were one of them I'm not talking about my eyes I think I saw that
Starting point is 02:44:40 I saw three little Jensen's and they're either toys or skins okay but I think it was character skins right they didn't ask for this I'm not looking it up
Starting point is 02:44:48 right now because whatever but I just want to point out the futility of making character skins for a game played 99% in first person there's more attacks
Starting point is 02:44:58 that you can appreciate I guess so that's a destiny also cut scenes yes no exactly tears fucking stop it
Starting point is 02:45:06 go away god damn it please go god damn it at least in destiny you look at your character every 10 seconds as you open the menu
Starting point is 02:45:14 to see if you got a gal horn at least I'm just looking at porn on his computer I'm not looking he was I saw I mean once
Starting point is 02:45:22 he's looking at urian once upon a time you walk down and then you hand it over five bucks yeah and that was that and like
Starting point is 02:45:30 like pre-orders are a good thing on paper where like you guarantee you get a copy the greatest pre-order of all time pre-order this win-waker
Starting point is 02:45:39 game and you get this get master quest yeah master quest exactly like do that on paper pre-orders give a director's
Starting point is 02:45:47 director's cut of human revolution yeah if I pre-order humankind divided some companies occasionally do that it's like
Starting point is 02:45:55 hey some companies down here would be pre-order humankind divided get to sx human revolution right now
Starting point is 02:46:03 yeah well what it's often turning into those that here's an opportunity at free dlc that we're going to sell later we've got
Starting point is 02:46:11 the 42nd trailer for the warcraft movie looks like a good cg trailer they're good at cg well cause that's
Starting point is 02:46:19 fuck damn they're good at cg that's what the movie is though I have no steak in this world it looks it looks cool
Starting point is 02:46:27 but the reason I'm worried is that I did have steak in that world and that world is dumb yeah but you're gonna get back into it but remember this is by the director
Starting point is 02:46:35 like cartoon shit isn't even like a low enough signifier to the world of warcraft storyline but the angels are cool
Starting point is 02:46:43 also I watched that warcraft 3 opening cut scene the angels of diablo you mean but like like it's such fucking
Starting point is 02:46:51 dorky fantasy shit oh yeah you're right like it's gonna be it's gonna be no I was thinking of the diablo no but the problem is they do look cool I'm not
Starting point is 02:47:00 super serious about how goofy and stupid have you created have you created metal gear yeah well you see moon Sam Rockwell
Starting point is 02:47:08 yeah yeah yeah this is by the director moon so I trust that oh that's a good thing this will be a all it's a fantastic adventure
Starting point is 02:47:16 nothing to do with this couldn't get further yeah this is avatar oh man like James Cameron's avatar this is what this is oh
Starting point is 02:47:24 but no it's a cool 40 seconds for one time also this weekend you can play evolve for free on PC or X-Bone
Starting point is 02:47:34 if you want to try that that's the price to have to pay on X-Box One as well really cool and it's one of those deals where you play for free and I assume you need gold though
Starting point is 02:47:42 for X-Box I don't know probably I don't know probably if you don't for PC then why would it be different from that
Starting point is 02:47:50 I don't know I know it's a promotional deal so you don't I don't think you would maybe you'd be surprised but
Starting point is 02:47:58 it's one of those deals where it's like if you do buy it at the end of the weekend you keep your saves of course and whatnot usually for these kinds of things
Starting point is 02:48:06 you keep your save anyway right like yeah for sunset I saw my save right that's true there was a sunset free weekend
Starting point is 02:48:14 that was a good promo yeah and it just kind of reminded me because they're like oh yeah so you can try to evolve and they came up with was
Starting point is 02:48:22 kind of what we were hoping for painted but not exactly the same like it wasn't human size yeah whatever but it is a stealthy stalking
Starting point is 02:48:31 yeah kind of hydro-less looking creature that like flies and teleports and disappears like predator style and has things where
Starting point is 02:48:39 it can pick off one person and bring them far away and shit like that so that was interesting but anyway if you want to see what you've been missing because of all the
Starting point is 02:48:47 layers of bullshit that came up in between you and the game exactly one of those things that's like I'd never probably ever gonna play it ever
Starting point is 02:48:55 no exactly it's like we we had a really good experience with it and it sucks that we had that really I'd rather us had a bad experience
Starting point is 02:49:03 then we could just write off the whole thing but no I mean I guess if you like shooters give it a swing because it is fun like it's undeniably fun free is free
Starting point is 02:49:11 free is free exactly and of course but it still goes by the other layer of like like you get through the first layer of crap
Starting point is 02:49:19 and you get friends to commit with you yeah sure that usually comes hand in hand with like a discount unless the worst layer we'll see
Starting point is 02:49:27 that's pretty cool though giving your friends to do things thumbs up on that yeah cool move here all the Mad Max movies are on Steam now in anticipation of the game
Starting point is 02:49:35 on Steam yeah oh god I forgot to see so Steam you don't know how confusing is when I boot up Steam
Starting point is 02:49:43 and I'm like oh this seems like the coolest horror game oh it's just a very minute literally you would have that have a lot
Starting point is 02:49:51 and Fury Road itself is going to be available on Steam as well I had a moment with where we were at the convention and the Mad Max booth you're at the back
Starting point is 02:50:01 of the Mad Max booth walking towards it and I just looked up and I saw printed on the screen on the Mad Max booth through the back
Starting point is 02:50:09 it was right at Zam Dam and I was like damn dang man I'm so excited for the Zam Dam game what was that I got I was like
Starting point is 02:50:19 he really liked that one by the way what was the litter fucking giveaway junk this year it was a Final Fantasy 14 plastic Dragoon helmet
Starting point is 02:50:28 no cardboard Dragoon helmet it wasn't as bad as the evil within Box last year oh nothing's worse than that and that was literally filling garbage cans
Starting point is 02:50:36 well past capacity and this thing was like a flat thing and those in these weird little yellow and black conical hats oh the assassins creed
Starting point is 02:50:44 pilgrim hats that made you look like a fucking asshole like a pilgrim yeah to be fair those those were shit
Starting point is 02:50:52 hats were basically people were using them as boxes which is obviously helpful you used to have a function to hold your shit yeah exactly those pilgrim hats
Starting point is 02:51:00 were shit oh they were so ugly whenever I see someone wearing them I'm like man what a tool like you came here for the wrong reason
Starting point is 02:51:08 and then lastly we've got fighting is magic rebranded yeah at last the pilgrims fighting her
Starting point is 02:51:16 see pats on his computer is about to download it so it looks good hold on oh there it is there it is uh yeah
Starting point is 02:51:24 oh it's porn oh jeez so if I'm not mistaken this has new designs by Lauren Faust exactly in the place of ponies since Hasbro
Starting point is 02:51:32 didn't like that and the main sickle what a great fuck you to Hasbro yeah and the main sickle it's big for power of somewhat
Starting point is 02:51:40 yeah so it's one of those situations where exactly they were getting seasoned assistant and went that sucks because this looks cool so she offered to
Starting point is 02:51:48 design characters for their reversal game that was even more legit than Sprite yeah yeah yeah it's own original thing it's own thing now yeah exactly
Starting point is 02:51:56 and so they're going to be hitting kickstarter soon I believe and that's still on the engine that Skullgirls was made on and looks like
Starting point is 02:52:04 and looks like a good game which was yeah because that was one of the stretch goals was provide an engine for fighting is magic
Starting point is 02:52:12 kickstart the horse porn dot com character yeah oh boy if that's a if that's a thing there's no
Starting point is 02:52:20 I don't think there's any horses in the game or ponies they're all like cows and reindeer there's going to do there's going to be a horse like it looks like it looks like most of the ponies
Starting point is 02:52:28 and horses are it's going to be a Hasbro does not own horses well time is and they sure don't own horse porn yeah
Starting point is 02:52:36 not yet you sure about that that's on us yeah you're right they own horse porn does does Aaron insurance not
Starting point is 02:52:45 is that not owned by fucking insurance and everything associated unless they aggressively defend their copyright right she's so hot
Starting point is 02:52:53 if you don't aggressively shut something down then you can sure you don't own it why is your car that copyright law is like an angry dog
Starting point is 02:53:01 pissing on its stuff damn or if I'm not pissing on it right now it's another dog you gotta run over there and do it immediately quick
Starting point is 02:53:09 orf orf if you've got a letter and you want to send us a letter you can send it to the super best friendcast at gmail.com
Starting point is 02:53:18 minus the I shouldn't have said that forgot the most important super best friendcast at gmail.com the Sony list from TGS no
Starting point is 02:53:26 what there's a new Vita coming out of North America there's a new Vita coming out Vita means fucking life guess what it's not dead yet
Starting point is 02:53:34 there's a new 3DS coming out of North America yeah that's the true way yeah I just take 10 seconds and just go over the fucking metal gear shit
Starting point is 02:53:42 that macro transaction shit is outrageous what are you going to say are you going to say it's outrageous and sucks yeah go say it okay but the real
Starting point is 02:53:50 the real at least you don't have to do it fair enough hopefully you get the first one free yeah we have to give context to this yeah
Starting point is 02:53:58 the forward operating base mechanic in metal gear that lets you get more resources faster most that you get one for free and you can engage
Starting point is 02:54:06 in the multiplayer all the extra bases essentially cost $20 so you get mother base and one forward operating base yeah and the rest cost real money but it's not just
Starting point is 02:54:15 but the first forward operating base once you enable it enables the entire online infrastructure yeah but it's not just that it's like the pc version
Starting point is 02:54:23 has problems the pc retail what the fuck is this it's like all you buy is a steam installer I don't get what you're saying so
Starting point is 02:54:31 so oh my god like see this is what I want to talk about it but it's garbage when you buy the retail disk of metal gear solid 5
Starting point is 02:54:40 yeah fan of pain the disk is a real dvd and it has a 9 megabyte steam installer on it that's all it has
Starting point is 02:54:49 that's all it has and then you have to put in your code and download the thing let's say you don't have steam and then you're like well I gotta sell it for this
Starting point is 02:54:57 then you have to it does it does say on the box that it's only an installer but you don't buy the game it has a code in it okay it has a code an activation though
Starting point is 02:55:05 I thought it was your buying steam engine you kind of are well you are but then you have to buy the game the game boots up with it
Starting point is 02:55:13 if you bought this if you paid for this you got ripped off I don't know how many years ago I bought the first sin episodes on the disk oh god
Starting point is 02:55:21 fucking how old are you I did and it was only a steam installer okay so there's that people are digging into it right now
Starting point is 02:55:30 and the steam version looks like it uses denuvo drm which is the drm that destroys your solid state drive solid state drive because that constantly
Starting point is 02:55:39 writes yeah okay it has crashes on the entire like amd like processor side though there is
Starting point is 02:55:47 an official fix now yeah almost all of the collectors editions don't have their dlc codes inside them and best buy
Starting point is 02:55:55 and all those guys are having to send out blanket codes to everyone that don't every every tertiary
Starting point is 02:56:03 this happened when we worked at idos with hitman every tertiary element of this game from its weird online thing
Starting point is 02:56:11 and micro transactions to every part of its physical release has been kind of fucked up and botched in some way well I feel like your platform choice
Starting point is 02:56:19 is predetermined by where you bought ground zeroes it's not that big of a deal the save transfer stuff because for me I care
Starting point is 02:56:27 so I'm going to be getting the explore version well I'll be getting the ps4 version whatever the fuck's going on on the pc version which I assume there was remember what I said
Starting point is 02:56:35 that glitch made me nervous about the pc version well I was fucking right to be nervous about it because it apparently has ssd destroying fucking drn
Starting point is 02:56:43 but no I want to maintain any save things that go I want to go on ps4 anyway well you have to start playing ground zeroes then
Starting point is 02:56:51 because you didn't do everything I didn't do everything but I got the tapes that mattered did you get all the prisoners there's stuff you have
Starting point is 02:56:59 to do to get everything but you don't need to get everything you no no no you don't need a hundred percent no no I'm saying
Starting point is 02:57:07 you don't need to have everything oh sure like in general I'm just saying if you want it you don't need a hundred percent but there's a lot more
Starting point is 02:57:15 than just the tapes you need to do you have to get two special guards and dump them in the helicopter you got to get all the prisoners
Starting point is 02:57:23 more than that there's another guy in that mission there's a list but it's just little bonuses the stuff pertaining it'll only take you
Starting point is 02:57:31 the stuff pertaining you're actually right the stuff pertaining you're actually right the past Chico and Skullface was what I got which is what I wanted to hear and I got that
Starting point is 02:57:40 you wanted to hear it I wanted to know don't forget don't forget the code that came in the box for ground zeroes you have to go to Konami's
Starting point is 02:57:48 website and type it in to get your download for the item it came in the box what box then you have it for
Starting point is 02:57:56 I think you should already have it you have a digital version yeah but I actually don't know because I also that's fine
Starting point is 02:58:04 I got it from PS Plus so maybe I'd have it for you too but don't forget to type in I just want to point out the release is like marred by a problem on every level
Starting point is 02:58:12 and it's a fucking bummer god damn Konami, thanks for the best game of the day I was talking to Liam earlier and I think that
Starting point is 02:58:20 Metal Gear Solid 5 is probably going to be the most naked split down the middle between you can see what the devs did what the publisher said
Starting point is 02:58:28 yes yes like I bet you were able to earn those four operating bases as like a natural go through the game and then Konami said
Starting point is 02:58:36 hey we're all going to fire you anyway so who wants to keep working make it deal make it fucking pes money dispensers
Starting point is 02:58:44 yep and somebody said no I don't want to and they go okay you're fired you're gone who's next okay you're in the
Starting point is 02:58:52 Pachinko Mines for the rest of your life does anyone want to keep doing this fuck you're going to see my little orbs whatever that means
Starting point is 02:59:00 you know well that PC version gets cleaned up I'm very excited to see the people cheap-engineering the fuck out of that shit yeah for sure
Starting point is 02:59:08 well yeah yeah no I I can't wait till mbcoins go on deep sail in ten years so I can get all my FOPs
Starting point is 02:59:16 all the kids of Springfield a bunch of FOPs gamble don't say that right so if you have more far away from it now
Starting point is 02:59:26 so if you want to send me emails super best friendcast at gmail.com super best friendcast at gmail.com that's not super breast friendcast
Starting point is 02:59:35 at gmail.com that's my email super breast friendcast at gmail.com you might get a little super friend breastcast at gmail.com all right now you just
Starting point is 02:59:43 now everyone's confused um I'm not did we get any this week yeah we did we got one from Aaron who is more or less
Starting point is 02:59:55 pointing out Laura wants to know if Matt got around to finishing Kill a Kill and if not can we shame him like will he say
Starting point is 03:00:03 real shaming uh no never actually finish Kill a Kill god shaming someone for not how far how far did you get oh I was like
Starting point is 03:00:11 three episodes oh that's not far at all no no three episodes left oh what they're the best ones I haven't booted up cruncher for a long
Starting point is 03:00:19 long time but like when I do it's like well yeah there it is I can't deal okay you didn't hear that I was shaking my head
Starting point is 03:00:27 violently uh great job Caesarean oh oh man man oh man I know it's accurate
Starting point is 03:00:36 I know it's accurate to me and it's like I know it's accurate this is what you wanted but it's fucking no it's what you wanted shut up everyone's got access
Starting point is 03:00:44 and what an accuracy weird cause they need to sound Japanese that's how they're supposed to sound another from Italy no I need my I need my
Starting point is 03:00:52 I know it's going to take place in fake Japanese I want Joseph has to like have be a Japanese guy struggling to speak English but it could have been worse because he could have
Starting point is 03:01:02 not only sounded like a British guy but he could have sounded like a more accurate 15 year old British guy because they are teenagers but like
Starting point is 03:01:14 I'll bust you god swear on me mom and all that shit that was a great times yeah Shane taught us that buff your noggin I'm a friend Shane from do you know
Starting point is 03:01:23 video games eat your burgers Jotaro now it's fine but he'll tell you all the hot info on the Sims 2 Diablo
Starting point is 03:01:31 for PlayStation 1 but and Dance Dance Revolution how forth wall breaking if they tell Jotaro to play as Naruto but the well here's the
Starting point is 03:01:40 fucked up part is if you correct Joseph it's like correcting Terry Bogart yes you can't do that oh no what they should have done
Starting point is 03:01:48 or should do is everyone else is dubbed and just Joseph is not Joseph stays the same old Joseph sounds pretty good actually
Starting point is 03:01:57 sounds pretty great yeah but that's an easy he's a stand out for sure yeah cause he says English all the time alright Charlie wants to know what you think
Starting point is 03:02:05 what's a really great piling episode of some great piling awesome town I fucked off and did both oh I said awesome
Starting point is 03:02:13 awesome town and adventure time it's like scream out at me heat vision heat vision and Jack he's fucking awesome he's vision and Jack
Starting point is 03:02:21 is pretty good I'm a fan I'm a fan heat vision and Jack too that's that's that's Owen Wilson and Jack Black
Starting point is 03:02:29 doing a super smart motor super smart astronaut that gets power from the sun and a talking motorcycle I'll reverse this question
Starting point is 03:02:37 you know what pilot was really bad what was that hi oh honey I'm home I was gonna say yeah that was really good I thought
Starting point is 03:02:45 but the actual answer was the ghost slash aliens pilot that was terrible yes you're right you couldn't fucking upset sad sad sad
Starting point is 03:02:53 little little witch academia was that a was that a pilot there was a pilot oh there was a I thought it was a start kicker after
Starting point is 03:03:01 the invaders had a great pilot start that kick oh that's a good question kick that start no he was actually asking about gun to pilot
Starting point is 03:03:09 char as them both yeah char is a cool guy cast pilot here we got one from dick dickadel yeah
Starting point is 03:03:19 dick dickadel dick and he actually just wants to say hey exceedingly decent acquaintances oh that's a good one that's a nice one
Starting point is 03:03:27 we've never heard that it's one to let you know that in part three of until dawn you translated grizzly bear scientific name ursis arctos
Starting point is 03:03:35 horribilis as horrible arctic bear but that's actually not it grizzly bear is one of those instances where an idiot was in charge of naming it
Starting point is 03:03:43 and mash greek and latin together like the inventor of the automobile arctos is greek for bear so the grizzly bear is bear bear horrible they're gonna know that
Starting point is 03:03:54 that's pretty cool that's so fucking stupid oh yeah you know if you go to taxonomy I bet there's a bunch of things that if you know what you're talking about who named this
Starting point is 03:04:02 this is stupid by the way I wanted to say is that I restarted until dawn up until where pat and I last with my girlfriend like oh god
Starting point is 03:04:10 it's so much more different oh yeah yeah the craziness things fucking happen I didn't mention it because I forgot I don't have a packed stuff
Starting point is 03:04:18 but I finished it with my girlfriend fucking blast of a game how many people survived stop it all but one dude everyone can die everyone can die
Starting point is 03:04:26 everyone can live yeah exactly that's your success metro okay one person died but I went back and I fixed it
Starting point is 03:04:34 wait no you can tell us who died like who did you get killed because that yeah it was Sam yeah
Starting point is 03:04:42 oh okay that's terrible no wait no shut up we haven't done anything yet but fucking
Starting point is 03:04:50 no we just left off everyone shut up fucking blast of a game there's no other game like it isn't the best David Cage game it's not by David Cage
Starting point is 03:04:58 it's better than that that's why I wanted it's really really good and it's not just an homage to horror stuff it is it totally goes its own way
Starting point is 03:05:06 and is another entry in being a horror thing yeah really good I was thinking put it in the stack and with Bloodborne
Starting point is 03:05:14 for reasons to get a PS4 awesome I saw a lot of people in our comments are just going this is so interesting I might buy a PS4 for it yeah
Starting point is 03:05:22 the other thing I was talking to someone they were like do you think they could make a sequel and I'm like well of course it depends on how well it's doing
Starting point is 03:05:30 but make a sequel but make it just another environment with another space it's sexy it's teens in space the only common denominator
Starting point is 03:05:38 is your control system and have the same name having finished it they could make a sequel cool so space they could just
Starting point is 03:05:47 make a sequel because you can't make a sequel and then they can't have Peter Stormair be the space doctor space doctor yeah but you could also just
Starting point is 03:05:55 establish a new genre which is a new genre what do you mean a new genre that exists already it's the same genre I call it no no
Starting point is 03:06:03 it's a different genre there's a what claims the palette and it will be known as its own the range came out like no but
Starting point is 03:06:11 it's not the start it's not the progenitor we mean the control method and the like realism of it if that makes sense I think you're splitting hairs
Starting point is 03:06:19 yeah I might be yeah tell that to the people playing mobile I'm sure there were other games that have done similar things too
Starting point is 03:06:27 but like anyway sorry that fucking blast of a game good ass game okay we got one from Adrian and he writes
Starting point is 03:06:35 oh wow I'm going to butcher this uh mabuhay super pinkanna talik ni kapegan which is
Starting point is 03:06:43 greetings from the Philippines um sorry bro he tried hey I would not do any better that's for damn sure uh okay
Starting point is 03:06:51 so uh I'm an aspiring blah I'm an aspiring developer and I'm currently working on my multimedia art thesis and it just so happens to be a
Starting point is 03:06:59 jrpg but instead of using traditional job classes I'm using yet lesser known pre-Hispanic cool like Filipino swordsmen
Starting point is 03:07:07 and dudes that and yes and cool stuff here that's cool because like nobody knows that shit it is so unique
Starting point is 03:07:15 and tribal healers uh like the babayalan um I feel game design is too grounded in vikings nice and samurai
Starting point is 03:07:23 yeah it is and the fantasy stick is getting old yeah I think there's room for warriors inspired by cultures lesser known in other parts of the world
Starting point is 03:07:31 absolutely the only the only reason it's like too well well well it's the samurai and knights it's like you're fucking get japan
Starting point is 03:07:39 and america america no shut up I'm not taking it back well the main thing the main thing created by american culture
Starting point is 03:07:47 the main thing is you have to sell us on it because the standout one here of course is um is norse mythology which there aren't a lot
Starting point is 03:07:56 of norse game developers but everyone's been sold on their mythology fight you because they're so cool and you know there's a lot of greek mythology stuff
Starting point is 03:08:04 that gets the exact same thing where there's not a lot of greek and roman game developers but they're mythol like you have to sell it to people yeah
Starting point is 03:08:12 when our god of war was like oh that's a fool when I was little baby at elementary school and I went to the library there were a bunch of greek and viking mythology books and I read them
Starting point is 03:08:20 they were not about filipino stuff yeah so just like but that's kind of an advantage because if you're the first gotten seen with that culture shit
Starting point is 03:08:28 you can be like yo look at this new shit I'm like oh what cool characters he's like no actually I just took them from my culture you're like okay that works too yeah you need to get your shit
Starting point is 03:08:36 to like 60% and then you need to show it to someone and tell them to be super critical and ask them if you sold them on it yeah because if you did it
Starting point is 03:08:44 you gotta go back to the drawing board but you can totally do it but you gotta sell them you have an advantage in being like yeah this is less common known it can be way more interesting
Starting point is 03:08:53 yeah if you're learning cool shit and if it's not good yeah like hell not as an extreme example but like guacamelay yeah
Starting point is 03:09:01 this is like fucking next to shit that like I don't know well yeah and if it's not good you have a huge disadvantage because then nobody cares on top of that
Starting point is 03:09:10 part of the reasons why I like like you know like total con and the other one H&O girl and stuff like that is because you don't really see
Starting point is 03:09:18 the Aztec designs South America doesn't get a lot of rent they don't get a lot of play yeah so it's cool when you see that you know I think hopefully in the Cali plays
Starting point is 03:09:26 that up and like southeast Asia gets like boring like fucking nothing yeah so do it do it
Starting point is 03:09:34 and do it good do it and try getting critical input and you can sell people if you kill it cause but you gotta kill it every culture has some kind
Starting point is 03:09:42 of warrior yeah and most of them are cool ass dudes except for the French what are you talking about yeah they were really good
Starting point is 03:09:50 at throwing they were really good at waving flags aw come on there's times of trans wars I'm just joking obviously John Wark was cool and there's Napoleon
Starting point is 03:09:58 say another one uh everyone who killed the rich people in the French Revolution the Beheading Crews he could have just said Napoleon warriors
Starting point is 03:10:07 oh Napoleon's lame though yeah but he's significant he had a little foofy hat I didn't like his stung hat he actually wasn't that short I don't care I didn't say short
Starting point is 03:10:15 I said I didn't like his hat what are you saying Wally I know you guys didn't get that far but Napoleon's a really fun character oh I bet Assassin's Creed Unity
Starting point is 03:10:23 like actually he's one of the better characters what a great military genius that I looked up his military tactic was he's like I think the guys should shoot in a cube
Starting point is 03:10:31 or square sorry and it's like oh wow you fucking genius and this week we've got the return of Plague Asks oh no
Starting point is 03:10:39 he's gonna ask creepy stuff nah actually hey Dursle's threes looks great you fucking ass no he hates it it does look good
Starting point is 03:10:47 and Bloodborne was good is Plague pissed that he did so poorly in the rumble check that box well not exactly but it is relevant to that
Starting point is 03:10:55 oh he it was a long stream but it boils down to what it boils down to how do you unfuck
Starting point is 03:11:04 the reversal system in wrestling games oh we talked about this right after the end of the video we talked about this that we learned that in WM2K16
Starting point is 03:11:12 which is coming out soon they have the same reversal method the same way you reverse but now you have three reversal slots
Starting point is 03:11:20 yeah and as you take one you take them all they're like pips right they're like pips and you reverse three moves really quickly they all have cool down
Starting point is 03:11:28 and you won't be able to reverse anything so you either choose should I reverse one thing here weight yeah just take it
Starting point is 03:11:36 and reverse one big move because you can see a big move coming so the nature of what he was talking about was how if you make reversing too hard
Starting point is 03:11:44 then you're getting away from the sports entertainment accuracy yeah of like watching a wrestling match where you have those
Starting point is 03:11:52 turnovers but if you make it too easy it's an ending match it's almost boring in a different way I think you should I think that that system Matt described
Starting point is 03:12:00 they're putting in that's pretty close you should build up to reversals and then use this as alpha counters when needed ensuring the match
Starting point is 03:12:08 exactly you build it up common breakers because all the hype and different reversals for different strengths of moves should cause different things
Starting point is 03:12:16 so like to reverse a weak grapple maybe that should be automatic but reversing a hard one requires a stocked meter yeah so by making
Starting point is 03:12:25 reversals a limited resource you make it so that it doesn't have to be hard to execute anyone can do it and get a match but you can't looks like a TV match
Starting point is 03:12:34 but it's a limited resource and you gotta save it and if you want to do a comeback or something maybe it costs you all three the only thing I would suggest I'm interested to see how that goes down
Starting point is 03:12:43 I think it's a good idea like who knows it'll fix it but like doing something like Marvel 3 with the team aerial combos
Starting point is 03:12:51 where you hold up down to get different benefits while you do stuff and being able to read what benefit they're going for like maybe something like that
Starting point is 03:12:59 so basically like a guaranteed reversal on one of three options yeah like you can do the stylish option and get the crowd pumping that'd be interesting too
Starting point is 03:13:07 you know like it's hard to say cause like a direct rock paper scissors chance wrestling is unique in that way and you can actually
Starting point is 03:13:15 yeah you could get the audience behind you like lots of games are trying momentum meter so if you do cool things in the ring the momentum will be
Starting point is 03:13:23 on your side so then you can reverse but then whoever's getting fucking killed in the ring has no chance
Starting point is 03:13:31 at that point it's hard to say cause like we've all played fighting games tons and we've all played a ton of wrestling games
Starting point is 03:13:39 but we haven't played wrestling games tons I don't think any of us have locked clock like hours and hours and hours
Starting point is 03:13:47 other than like other than a few yeah sure I played them like how many games is that that is from
Starting point is 03:13:55 that's WNWL WWL World Tour Revenge Wrestling in 2000 No Mercy Def Jam 1
Starting point is 03:14:04 Def Jam 2 Def Jam 2 Six games out of a thousand Six games like six games out of hundreds I'm doing what I'm saying I started locking the hours in
Starting point is 03:14:13 going just that just that no but there's a difference cause in fighting games you played hundreds of hours of street fighter and you played tons of hours
Starting point is 03:14:21 of guilty gear tons of hours of blaze like you have a universal understanding of fighting games in general we don't have that for us for wrestling games we have a very narrow
Starting point is 03:14:30 they just play expertise we actually know so like I don't know I couldn't say what you people do and I would say
Starting point is 03:14:39 few people do cause like yeah exactly it's hard to say what the real answer is but wrestling games play so differently from fighting games
Starting point is 03:14:47 it's a totally different approach and my suggestion of a fighting game mechanic might not even be well your real answer should be look at a couple real matches see how many reversals exist in those
Starting point is 03:14:55 I think the closest you get and that's what your system should anyway I think the closest you get is all stars cause we don't do reversals in our all stars all the time
Starting point is 03:15:03 but we do them a frequent amount and we get super excited when we see them out there cause they're really hard cause they're so fucking cool in
Starting point is 03:15:11 that's like that's a touch thing too though the thing is that towards the end of us playing all stars we were doing too many yeah and the thing is
Starting point is 03:15:19 it was still awesome but also in all stars you can reverse reversals yeah that's true too and the and the at the engine games it was pure timing
Starting point is 03:15:27 and it was very much just a fighting game style mechanic and it was fun but it was not at all representative and the tough thing too is like a real match
Starting point is 03:15:35 there's no blocking people don't block you know they do reversals this is a video game and it's scripted like it's fake this is a video game
Starting point is 03:15:43 trying to emulate a fake sport when someone actually wins or loses it's bullshit yeah they get paid it's so strange it's so hard to emulate
Starting point is 03:15:51 cause like getting hit isn't fun in a wrestling game cause there's so much like oh I'm gassed well just put my controller down you know like but they gotta I know exactly
Starting point is 03:16:00 my character can't stand up for 90 seconds in some cases you know a replenishable resource that as you take damage and the match goes on you gain them
Starting point is 03:16:09 cause like breakers in Mortal Kombat for example you see them throughout the match but it's not overdoing it you know yeah
Starting point is 03:16:17 well the way you described it after we played it was one of the recent wrestling games or you were laughing or you described it but if two people are good
Starting point is 03:16:25 two people who are good enough are good enough at the game no one can win yes it's a complete stalemate like fuck that
Starting point is 03:16:33 infinite parries is not good enough it's like those fucking Soul Calibur matches where they just know it and they just guard impact themselves into oblivion
Starting point is 03:16:41 over and it's not like in third strike you can only take so many hits and you're dead quick in certain Soul Calibur games you just don't parry cause it's stupid
Starting point is 03:16:49 yeah but like in wrestling games that's your fucking system in wrestling games it takes so long to get a character to be pinnable
Starting point is 03:16:57 that like the amount of parries the amount of like breakers and stuff is really tricky to balance maybe that maybe that would help
Starting point is 03:17:06 wrestling games along a lot if match times were shortened dramatically but then that's not it's about the accuracy no there's a core
Starting point is 03:17:14 of what play was talking about was like emulating watching a TV show here's the problem wrestling matches in games lasts like what 15 minutes
Starting point is 03:17:23 a while even that is longer than your average non-main event yeah non-main event is like 10 minutes or less
Starting point is 03:17:31 but your main event matches are half hours a blowout in an ackee game is two and a half three yeah
Starting point is 03:17:39 you can beat someone very quickly yeah like even in the early early smackdowns you can beat people pretty quickly but yeah
Starting point is 03:17:47 it sounds like this new game is the closest it's ever been to being the right number yo they did it
Starting point is 03:17:55 they did it the ps4 firmware 3.0 features put out online storage capacity for ps plus increased from
Starting point is 03:18:03 1 gig to 10 gigs well I was missing about this on the plane back over here fixing the problem completely fucking amazing
Starting point is 03:18:11 what was the problem the problem it's one gig the problem was you remember when we were working on video games the default
Starting point is 03:18:19 template size for save data is 10 megabytes on ps4 auto developers don't bother to change that Skullgirls
Starting point is 03:18:27 they changed it down to 3 megs for the vast majority problem is having to get at 10 megabytes minimum means you only get
Starting point is 03:18:35 100 saves online and when mkx tries to upload every single on it with a 700 megabyte save your 1 gigabyte is
Starting point is 03:18:43 finished within year 1 and now 10 is fine 10 is roughly like 900 games cool
Starting point is 03:18:51 amazing that's good shit what's coming up what are we looking forward to ZAMDAM is coming out very excited for ZAMDAM game
Starting point is 03:18:59 you guys going to look at ZAMDAM I bought ZAMDAM that's my list too exactly Metal Gear Solid 5 what I heard that's
Starting point is 03:19:07 coming out for the spare girls those girls are sad Space Hulk came out today Warhammer 40K Space Hulk I'm really excited to get home and play that one
Starting point is 03:19:15 I should look at that it came out today it came out on Vita and I think PS3 there's supposed to be a Wii U release and I think
Starting point is 03:19:23 a PC release as well is it Steam Hulk Ascension no it's not there's supposed to be a Wii U release too it's a remake Space Hulk isn't it
Starting point is 03:19:31 it's a new Space Hulk Space Hulk is a type of game I keep thinking of Hulk in space there's supposed to be a Wii U version too
Starting point is 03:19:39 I remember me I have that one I don't know there is a big ass MK patch that is dropping Predator nerfs Jackie buffs
Starting point is 03:19:47 right around oh and Kotal's getting some good shit buffing Predator buffing Predator yeah finally
Starting point is 03:19:55 a long deserve come up with only God could do the same exactly you know black girls
Starting point is 03:20:03 really need to be plus 14 on that movie don't do it ahh yeah No says Z Mansion mad max
Starting point is 03:20:13 honestly like what am I looking forward to this week I'm really looking forward to recording more until dawn yeah until dawn 3 3 maybe also
Starting point is 03:20:22 that's my number one and I downloaded cause everyone says you need to watch this NXT Brooklyn Takeover it was the they took over
Starting point is 03:20:30 Brooklyn because they had before Summersland than Brooklyn it was you know because it says it has the greatest Divas match of all time
Starting point is 03:20:39 which and has been Baylor against fucking Kevin Owens in a ladder match I downloaded and Jushin Thunder Liger
Starting point is 03:20:47 first time ever in a WWE ring fighting like some asshole I forget his name some model guy I really want to see it so
Starting point is 03:20:55 who got fired like whatever what's his name it's girlfriend's a nazi oh she made these oh god Daniel Bryan's
Starting point is 03:21:03 no no I don't think it was Daniel Bryan or someone's girlfriend or whatever it's Adiba yeah Adiba made some Instagram posts hey if you want to talk about
Starting point is 03:21:11 embarrassing wrestling show I don't know if you saw it earlier but Snook is being charged with that murder now remember this is what I talked to you about how it was really mysterious
Starting point is 03:21:19 that he like got off yeah the charges of what was like I told you like I read that synopsis that's a very obvious murder
Starting point is 03:21:27 it was like no you did that murder and then Vince was like no guys it's cool yeah that murder went away it just went away and the story that Matt saw
Starting point is 03:21:36 about that prompted the locals to be like no let's let's get him to the murder damn and Vince might be going to jail if it's found out that Vince like Vince paid dudes off
Starting point is 03:21:48 then Vince will have to erase himself from history yeah he's gonna have to just take a big eraser and erase his head off so the flashlight is in jail okay he's like 90 million years old
Starting point is 03:21:59 yeah oh dear well I'm not gonna say we've done it but I'm not gonna say we didn't do it so we may or may not have done it do you wanna talk about
Starting point is 03:22:09 what's coming up on the channel yeah problem yeah I think it's a problem I'll take one you can take one yeah yeah I'll tell you do it well I'll start by saying
Starting point is 03:22:17 until dawn obviously until dawn continuing to get on that starfox continuing so Rare Replay just came to its end I'm excited to go back and look at the comments
Starting point is 03:22:26 because that was a really unusual format for us it did well it did I liked it though so me and Woollie are gonna be starting a full let's play of Ultra Despair Girls
Starting point is 03:22:38 Danganronpa another episode exactly what and Woollie did a lot of homework to get to this point so I've been I hassle Woollie for
Starting point is 03:22:48 about six or seven months to play them so we could do this and he played them and he loved them I played both games I went through got the novels
Starting point is 03:22:56 I'm fully fucking caught up and ready to go the only thing I wanna say that's true it's going up probably yeah tonight at 9 p.m last night at 9 p.m
Starting point is 03:23:04 no Tuesday night at 9 p.m broadcast is coming on Tuesday or Wednesday it's coming out as soon as I get my hands on it it officially comes out whatever the video is going up
Starting point is 03:23:12 it's a late episode Tuesday at 9 p.m we had an early copy of the game and we did not have or know about the Japanese voice pack so we do complain about it a few times
Starting point is 03:23:20 having to use English but we're gonna switch to the Japanese one as soon as we get caught up actually what's gonna happen on our next recording session you can't use the Japanese voice pack
Starting point is 03:23:28 on an English save file you're gonna have to start over the whole game yeah but yeah we're gonna switch to Japanese as soon as we do our next recording session
Starting point is 03:23:36 you say that but the first two games did like happen yeah I know I said that because games do that but yeah
Starting point is 03:23:44 the other new thing that was what I was killing so much time on in the previous weeks yeah exactly I can't talk about it well it's like when I was playing Star Fox
Starting point is 03:23:52 so many hours playing the other thing is that soon we're gonna have a big video we're all gonna look at Metal Gear and play through the early game and then when that's done me and Leverage is gonna play
Starting point is 03:24:00 the whole rest of the game that's the what's the smooth metal gear Metal Gear Solid 5 the Phantom Pain Phantom Dollars can't fucking wait yeah
Starting point is 03:24:10 and I know you have to wait dipshit I'm glad that we're doing these two LPs because that means I can go home and play Mad Max yeah
Starting point is 03:24:18 because otherwise I would like these two other games I would have to play we'll be big studios don't let us down no exactly first game
Starting point is 03:24:26 oh yeah it's our first game dude if their logo appears at the beginning that'd be good that'd be amazing but it's not gonna alright now we're actually done
Starting point is 03:24:35 with the podcast exactly someone say something funny quick horsebutts.org oh that's a that's a slash penis
Starting point is 03:24:43 that's disgusting sputtering out that's sputtering out like the horse tail spinning into the ground muck spreading oh you know if they just spin
Starting point is 03:24:53 their tail around the shit goes everywhere that's what it is thanks for watching
