Or that, or go to bed. And I went halfway where I was like, I'll lay on the couch and put on some type of YouTube video and watch that. Oh, yeah. No, that's... So, I did that and just I wake up at like 12, 20 and I'm like, oh... Well, the reason I ask is because as unbelievable as it sounds, now that my sleep schedule normalized after the jet lag from Japan, I'm now doing 12 to 8 every day.

And I have done so every day for the past like week and a half. How does that feel? It's fucking weird, man. Yeah, I can imagine. It's fucking weird. Like, no one's awake but me. Everyone is awake. Well, I mean like...

Outside. Well, yeah, no, not outside. I mean, all the people I usually talk to or Twitter at or fucking whatever, everyone's dead. Well, when you wake up at like 7.30 a.m., Max is still streaming from last night. Yeah, he's always awake. But like, you know, if you're like me and you get power from the nighttime, then like that weird like dusk or excuse me, dawn of like, you know, there's no sunlight but also

it's blue. I like that light. I really don't like that. No, I like that. I hate it. I like that for a little bit. That drains whatever's left out of me because it's like, it's not even the niceness of a day or the awesomeness of a night.

It's neither. It's just this meh. I think I can like, you're at Dawson, you're staying after to finish work. And then you look out and you see that light? That's bad light. And that's when I really didn't like it. I've been doing a pointillism piece for the last, God knows how many hours, dot, dot, dot, dot, dot.

And then you crack a peek outside and you go, fuck my life. Yeah. Yeah, because it's like everyone's gone home. See, like that's a college, by the way. I actually appreciate that. Like waking up when it's dark is weird. That's the weirdest feeling by far. Yeah, I agree.

Because like, did I even go to bed? So then you look, seeing the sunrise is cool. I like that. Yeah. But much, much more depressing by far to me is I wake up and it's kind of daytime and then I go to anything and then by the time I'm done that, anything, it is already dark. That is the most fucked. You're your first slot of the day means everything else is now done.

I have for many years now been in the time slot of winters here. That means of my 16 hours awake, 14 of them will be in darkness, therefore even worsening the bags under my eyes and whatnot. I think like the whole sunrise thing only works if you are in a remote setting, like you're like, I'm going to get up and go to the waterfront by my cabin and enjoy this. Then sure, that's fine. That's where your sunrise can give you power, but otherwise. At Liam's cabin, that's like over a lake.

That's literally what I was describing. That will replenish your life more. Yeah, yeah. I understood. Absolutely there. And Japanese sunrise in what you're going to call it. Anything. Hakone.

In any media really. But beyond that to me, it's just like, dude, I've been getting so much stuff done. Like stuff that I've been putting off for weeks because, oh, I wake up and got to go to work by the time works over. Everything closes in one hour. Thus, it all has to be done on a weekend. But on the weekend, you're like, no, it's my weekend. I want my weekend.

I feel like, am I old now? Did I flip the switch to old man? Feeling like you're getting robbed of your day. I flipped the switch to old man like 20 years ago, dude. I sure did. Yeah, you know, you Benjamin Buttoned it. The idea of feeling like you're being robbed of your time every day is basically the process of being old.

No movies. Nothing really going on. Sonic fucking forces came out. It did. Hey, who saw Thor? I saw Thor. I didn't see Thor. Oh, great.

You should go see Thor. I should. Because it's a good movie. You saw Thor? I did. I'll throw out a one negative. Let me know if you agree. The first half hour before Thor gets to gladiatorial planet,

Socar, is like a messy half hour of like editing like problems or just felt a little clunky. And I'm just like, okay. Oh, so it's a Thor movie. Well, no, because once, you know, it establishes like, I'm stuck at this planet. Like that's the plot. And it jumps around so much at the start that it was actually just like, it just had like an awkward story flow. It was still entertaining, but I was just like, it's kind of weird.

But once he gets to the planet, like then it starts firing on all cylinders. I think it was the best Thor movie. Oh, yeah. I think it was. I think I could say that from the trailers. And definitely like the formula is in full effect at this point to the most predictable manner. Like we're just cranking, we're turning everything into the Guardians of the Galaxy style.

It was the most popular one. Let's just get that level of comedy going. Also Iron Man, you know. Yeah. But Iron Man, I don't know. It's also kind of like that at the beginning. Funny. Yeah.

Because Tony Stark's funny. Captain America movies remain pretty grand, like Civil War and Winter Soldier. Yeah, but like Winter Soldier is closer to like the Borne Ultimatum or something than it is like a superhero movie. And Civil War turned into just an Avengers movie. Essentially. But I think they'll take the Guardians of the Galaxy template and use it on anything that's not working.

Yeah. Like the Thor movies. Yeah. Like I think Black Panther will not be Guardians of the Galaxy. Like not even close. No. But also like Captain America. But also like the director is like not really that kind of guy.

No, no. You directed Creed. Yeah. So I don't think he's going to be doing gags a minute, you know. Yeah. But he's a director. He's not a writer, you know what I mean? So the script can still be whatever it is.

That's true too. But I don't see a ton of like T'Challa jokes flying fast and loose. Yeah. I don't think he's got a hot minute. A hot five. I don't think there's T'Challa. Tight five. I don't think there's time for Claw to just go, oh, Africa.

Right. In that movie. Yeah. So there's definitely the, you know, the goofiness that you see with Bilbo. What's his name? Martin Freeman. Martin Freeman. Thank you.

Yeah. No, he was right. Yeah. But he could be funny. He could be a Bilbo. He's good at funny. Yeah. Right.

That's the first role I saw him in. The first role I saw him in was Hitchhiker's Guide, where he was funny. And then in Fargo, he's pretty funny as well. I watched one episode of Fargo. We just couldn't get around to watching more, but we planned to. It's solid. And he does a really good job basically being the William H. Macy type character. Okay.

Oh, dear. Yeah. I know. Yeah. I thought I think I like that we're moving slowly towards a professor like Hulk. A little bit. Yeah. I enjoyed that part of it.

He's getting there. I have a strong feeling that you're never, ever, ever going to see that on the big screen. No, probably not. No, I think there could be a thing. In fact, unless they decide to make it the whole point of the movie. A sequence. Yeah. Like it's the gimmick of the movie.

Because you notice how what they've been doing has been like, let's take a major event and turn it into just a single moment in a movie. Yeah. And you know, Planet Hulk turned into like this one moment of him being in the gladiator arena. But the idea of him becoming a smart Hulk that then is at risk because when he loses his temper, he becomes weak puny and useless is really fun to me. Whereas then him being large, gigantic and like incredibly smart is awesome. And I'd like to see that in a way that like, you know, maybe with the next phase of movies.

They're not phase, but generation. Oh, yeah. Phase four. No, no. The phases are moving on and like Homecoming 2 marks the beginning of like the second arc. Well, the second arc. Oh, man. There's going to.

Homecoming 2. Yeah. Oh, you didn't catch this. No. So there's 22 movies. Like in totality. And then Homecoming 2 begins the new age. But why Homecoming when it's not even 100% Marvel?

Because Spider-Man will still be alive at the end of Infinity War. It just happens to be the movie that hits that timeline because Infinity War is going to end. Yeah. That'll be the end of the timeline that we know. Yeah. And then Homecoming 2, they said, and starts the big new beginning. No, I didn't catch that. Does that does that account for buying Fox?

I mean, it probably accounts for everyone's contracts being not buying Fox. Yeah. Because they, you know, don't be surprised if like some actors get recast or changed. Oh, yeah. Or they start focusing on another group of heroes entirely. Tough question. Is there anyone you'd be like, I can lose them. I know no stakes in that guy.

Actor or character? Both. Like who is someone that you feel is really indisposable. I actually really like Jerry. You mean disposable. You mean disposable. Sorry, disposable. Yes.

I'm going to say Captain America. The problem is that at this point, like anyone you replace is going to be awkward, right? If someone was to die, Captain America would be the most awesome to die. Yeah. Because he would die. Super kind of die. I guess I should put it like this. Like I hate actors getting replaced in things ever.

So you'd rather the character die off and the actor doesn't get replaced? Because I just feel so weird by the same. You know what I mean? Like the roadie thing still bothers me. You know what I would actually really like? I would like for fucking Mr. Tony to get fucking killed and you get goddamn war machine movie with Don Cheadle. I mean, I guess. The thing with Downey getting killed is that he can totally get killed because Doctor Strange can comfortably fill the role of sarcastic asshole.

Oh yeah. Downey Jr. though, I like his attitude and charisma. So like I don't want to see less of that. But he's so fucking tired of your man. I know, I know, I know. So it's a hard question. He's put in the times. All I'm saying is it's a hard question for me.

So I guess that all I can really pick it is who I care about the least and I think I care about what our soldier the least. I like Hawkeye. Yeah, you mean Bucky. I'd rather a movie Hawkeye, movie Hawkeye can go. I like Hawkeye. I like Hawkeye with him. I don't even mind him, but he can go. No, I like that he's like a normal weirdo.

I think if I had to pick, if you're forcing my hand, I'd say Bucky. Yes, but I like Bucky. So that, you know what I mean? At this point, it's like everything's pretty fun. The ladies love Bucky. I think Thor can go. No, Loki can. No.

No, Thor can go, but Loki can't. Every one of these. You see this Thor movie? Now I don't want Thor to go. At the end of Dark World, I would want Thor to go. The question sucks because they're all fine now. Vision, I guess, if you want to pick something. I wouldn't mind.

Yeah, vision. You know what I want really bad? I don't want Black Widow to go because I want that Black Widow movie. You know what I like? Maybe this is selfish and I want to see it all burn, but I want Infinity War Part One to come out, and I want to see one full third of that cast list just get fucking iced. Just like Chris Pratt and Robert Downey Jr. and all those guys just decapitated. I mean, no, but there's rumors that the...

There's going to be wipeouts. There's rumors? There's going to be wipeouts? Yeah. But there is. Okay, but what I was going to say is that there's rumors that it's going to be a heist movie that is basically... No, no, not even rumors.

I saw an interview that the director was like, yeah, it's going to be a heist movie where it's Thanos stealing everything. Appiring the stones. Yeah, that's it. And I'm like, that sounds great. And then the second one is the actual war. And I'm like, that makes a lot of sense because let's face it, two movies is a long time for a big space battle.

Yeah, man. So it's really... But you guys even have all the stones. So imagine if they tried to put in getting all the stones and a big war movie and one movie. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. So you definitely need time on that. But whatever.

All that to say that Thor, it was fun because they had goofy jokes that then became... The soundtrack starts as a joke in most scenes and then the scene cuts away, but it keeps playing. So that background song that was like a punchline is now actually just the song of this moment. Yeah. It's like, you know, they really just... It's like doing the Zack Snyder thing, but effectively. Oh man, an effective Zack Snyder.

I wish I could see that one day. They really just said, we got Goldbloom and we want him to just be Goldbloom. Dude, he was in it way more than I thought. Oh, that's great. Pretty incredible how much they just kind of just do your thing. How did you like Gorn or Goron? Fantastic. Like a fucking rock guy voiced by the director.

Is he? Yeah. I saw the credits. I thought it was the guy that was the head werewolf. That's what it sounded like. I thought it was. And then I looked at the credits. I'm like, oh no, it's Taiki Watiti.

Yeah, because the way he's talking, you're hearing that New Zealand accent and you're like, am I hearing like, yeah, werewolves, are we hearing? I love how the MCU is like, we got a thing. We have the thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a funny rock guy. It was very good. They did it good with that.

Yeah, no, go see it. It's worth it. And I guess the only thing with it is just that, you know, it's the closest thing to like a major downside, but the formula is really felt and it's really predictable and you know it and you're experiencing it and you're aware that you're like, yep, you know, 10% like drama, maybe 20% action and the rest is all comedy. And you're like, you're in an action scene and you see the edit and you're like, there's a joke going to happen, right?

You don't go four minutes without a smirk, you know, or like a beat type of thing. But it's weird because you're hiring a director that literally only makes comedies or something that does have jokes per minute. It's like a search for the wilder people, which had Sam Neal and Alan Grant who also has a little cameo on this. So I was like, yeah, it's going to be a fucking full on comedy. Even if I haven't seen the trailer, I'm like, you don't hire a comedy director unless you expect a little bit of comedy.

I mean, there's exceptions to the rule, but like, I think for Thor, having the third one be way more funny that that template that you are correct in saying it's a little little overused now. If you attach it to something that gave you very few laughs, what was the only thing you laughed at a Thor? There's two jokes. It's another. Yeah.

And meow meow. Yeah. What's the cat dennings quotient on this movie? Zero. Oh man, this movie sucks. No, no, it's a good. Valkyrie makes up for this is basically a reboot of Thor in a way, which is why the director is saying what, which is why the director is saying that if they he did another one,

he wants to be Thor Ragnarok to not Thor for. Ah, interesting. But the the I don't know what to say. Besides, I didn't hate Thor as much as everyone else did. But like. Oh, you mean beforehand? No, no, no. I mean, no, no, I mean, Thor one and two.

I don't. Oh, I don't. I don't love those movies. I don't love them either. The second one is like one of the most forgettable Marvel movies ever, but it's not awful. Yeah, that's yeah. I guess I guess you can put it, you know, forgettable. Sure.

Like, but like, you know, it was fine when I watched it. But it was just like, you know, this this boosts that that line or that franchise up on its own rights into like, you know, the good, the good stuff. The problems of the Thor movies didn't really seem important in the grander scheme of things, whereas Captain America movies are like, oh, shit. Well, it's because Thor movies don't take place on earth. Exactly. Well, the first one does.

Well, yeah. And then the second one has an earth moment. They don't even meant like, they don't even mention the earth characters that he met. They don't mention Cad Dennings or or. The professor and a bear. They and Natalie Portman. They mentioned Natalie Portman for one line. They're like, she's not here again.

Yeah, effectively. Yeah, but remember there was like five movies where they're like, where's pepper pots and then everyone's like two cares and then she shows up again. So, you know, you never know. I care. I don't know. I like her. Yeah.

No, I mean, no, sorry. The characters in the movie don't care. Tony, she dumped you again, huh? Cause you're a fucking drunk loser, huh? Huh, Tony? And he's like, the conclusion of that. You got to watch. Man, Iron Man 3's ending is stupid as shit now.

Look, I look pepper. I blew up all my suits. Look, I did it. I just got a bunch of suits. Okay, now I tell the Infinity War. Yeah. Like, what's that bitch? You're telling me not to fight the Infinity War?

No, no. Like what? I got to fight it a lot, man. What I would like to see is that when they do begin this new age that, you know, I really hope that they decide to kind of like put the spotlight on a bunch of new characters. Yeah. I want losers. I want ass or formerly losers because they realized, I'm sure, that if we can do what

we did with Guardians to a ton of heroes, then we can grab like anybody and pull them up there. And you know, the director of Thor Ragnarok takes on the new warriors. Sure. Has to make Night Thrasher funny. Sure. You know, I think there's no reason why the world can't fall in love with She-Hulk. I think She-Hulk can.

I absolutely want a She-Hulk movie. Huge hit. I want an Ali McBeal style thing with a few action scenes. No, it would be a huge hit. I want She-Hulk to be directed by Kevin Smith, and I want She-Hulk, the movie, to be like his fucking idea for the Green Hornet movie where it's fucking 99 percent lawyering. Wait, so Civil Wars or Infinity Gauntlet's happen outside the courthouse. Yeah.

And she walks outside to do a scuffle, but the camera stays in the location, and then she comes back in. I would like She-Hulk as a Netflix show where it's actually just Ali McBeal, and I just want to snap it because the She-Hulk run that I think the Marvel Now She-Hulk run was like amazingly funny. It was all like court stuff by day, go to the clubs at night, get drunk, get sad, no guy wants to fuck you because they're all scared. But now with Netflix and television stuff firmly behind us, I think the best treatment

would be a film in the next generation. You want them to get their movie. Because the thing is, if there are characters that are currently Z-Listers that you want to see bumped up, you have to basically write off the ones that get pushed onto Hulu like the runaways. I read a review of the first episode of runaways, it's like it's not good. Of course not, right? And then they got, and what's the other one, Cloak and Dagger, right?

That's not out yet, but yeah. No, but I'm saying like so there's all these Z-Listers that we want to see cool versions of. Can I get a doppelganger spinoff movie? No, there's people in line before doppelganger. But I don't know, Sony wants to make a, there's a Venom movie, doppelganger, fucking shut up, and Riot and Scream are going to be in that movie. All I'm trying to say is characters that have a book with their name in a special font on

it, we can start paying attention to them a little bit more. Who's the biggest loser that you can think of that fits that profile? Wait, like in what sense? Well, I think everyone's going to get to love Cable in Deadpool 2. No, I want the biggest loser that you think could get a movie. That could get a movie. Adam X The Extreme. No, he could not get a movie.

But I don't believe that. That's stupid. Who is that? Unless they decided to go like nuts with it and like push it and make it a whole thing. The reinvention. The Guardian's... Moon Knight. Guardian Moon Knight.

No one cares about speedball. And like people correct... I don't even know who the fuck speedball is. As you know, you get things wrong. Everyone's like, speedball is one of the most important characters ever. And I was like, why? I'm like, because he started Civil War. Yeah.

I'm looking at a decade-long franchise of Longshot fighting... I love Longshot. Longshot fighting MoDoc and Mojo. Oh, and MoDoc. Oh, really? Well, that entire fucking core of these villains, right? They're very similar. I can see Longshot being a thing.

Oh, come on. Squirrel Girl teams up with Lara and X-23 at all new Wolverine. That's a team up in a movie. That's pretty solid. That they play off each other. That becomes a Fox joint but yeah. Because it's the Wolverine and the Squirrel. Sure.

That's a team. Oh, wow. Nightcrawler could get his own movie. Oh, he of course he could. X-men in general are good for spin-offs but like, but they're also not because it took Wolverine for to get it right. Gambit still has a movie in the works. Channing Tatum.

Anyway. Yeah. And I don't know if like what else. So you saw you saw Thor. Stranger things. I haven't I haven't started it yet. Oh I watched it until its entirety. All I say is that it's not as tightly scripted.

It's not as intriguing as the first season. That's unfortunate. Regardless it's almost if not a bit more entertaining from episode to episode where there's constantly shit happening. There's constantly like a fun action scene. There's always a character doing something that you're that you're into. There's one story thread that I was like man I could do without this. It's not really going anywhere particularly interesting.

But if you've seen all the fan art Steve Steve art is his arc is just so entertaining and so amazing. Like that fucking anime drawing someone did of him on Twitter all these various expressions. I'm like there's something. Why do I why are all my synaptic responses firing off at how awesome this looks. Steve was yeah the go to character. Now my only thing is is like do you for all those moments of downtime that you're feeling. Does it that I'm not not all those moments.

There's one little story thread that I was never into everything else. I was like yeah. Does it does it feel like it still would have been better if they went with a whole new cast whole new story. I think enough stuff happened in this that I could justify this season. I was still happy with I always wanted it to be an anthology because I hate. I hate the what I effectively look at as the Jersey Shore returning for season two. Type of thing where it's like the only reason why this works is because of the concept.

The characters played out an extremely important part of that. But the concept is bigger than the actors and the characters involved here. And that's what should travel forward with different people in different stories. And then them and then like in the Jersey Shore bit of them going no we're famous. We have to be there. And it's like no not that I give a shit. But I mean in this case with Stranger Things I really I have to watch it to obviously solidify that.

But like a lot of the time I'm like we like this because of what is happening and the themes and how it plays it. Not because of who's because it's not a mystery really. It's more of like a sci-fi adventure thing. It's just it's called Stranger Things too. Yeah. So the problem is is that they set up for a third season of the same stuff. And I'm like I don't know if there's enough gas in that tank left for me to.

And they said like by the time we get this done the kids are going to be fucking old because voices are cracking the fuck up now. And they said that when the third season does happen it'll most likely be a time skip like somebody wants to have a Harry Potter. That's Netflix. The problem is that after a third season you can't then just jump to like another group I feel they'll either stop or they'll do a fourth episode. That aging thing where you have a kid.

Fuck kids stop aging. I had I had like the weirdest thing where like a bunch of this week I was just like whatever it was like watching hotel room TV. You know and the there's a show on Nickelodeon called the Goldbergs I think it's this like sitcom that's not sitcom but it's like it's almost like a wonder years type modern thing of just goofy family. But like I'm watching this thing of this this little kid with glasses like like nerdy kid whatever has it has his like Kevin style adventures and misadventures.

And these are all like reruns of whatever. And I didn't know because I'd never heard the show up until this point but I'm watching it. And then it cuts to like a commercial for like the latest episode. And like the kid is basically like 22. Wow. And it's like it's just the weirdest things like apparently it's just been around for this long or whatever the fuck. But like like I'm seeing imagine if you're seeing like like Arthur.

You know or Urkel Urkel season one Urkel to like to step on. It was that moment from a shirt from like the show being on to the commercial. I was like what the fuck. I think I described this before Dragon Ball Z like season one was airing on YTV. And I go and like I go to school that day. And someone brings me a VHS from Japan which is Super Saiyan Vegeta and Goku fighting Metal Cooler. Like I can fucking chat my parents. No you're not ready.

Because arms are getting ripped off in that movie. There's some fucking you know it's rough. No you're super. Yeah I know that sounds like a thing. But um. Stranger things too. I like overall like I really enjoyed it. But it did lose a little bit of the mystery and the intrigue from the first season.

They go into a lot. Eleven doesn't really do anything for a long time. She goes on her own like side quest. But it's still really interesting and well done. And she kind of gets reinserted into the main story thread. But it was a little awkward. But like overall still massively entertaining like. But it does lose a little newness.

It does lose the newness and the mystique of the first season where you're like what's going on. But also like the first season felt like they were doing a thing which is the 80s movies thing. Still doing it. And is it. Okay so it's not fully going into its own direction. No actually they're going on it even harder. They show lots of movie marquis in the background to let you know what year it is. Commercials for the.

I actually did mark out a bunch. Nineteen nine and nine. I did mark out because when people are flipping to the TV there's always commercials for terminator one. Yeah. And while that's really hamfisted I was like oh fuck imagine how exciting it was to like be cognitive at that age. After after Bojack's did all those time joke bits it's all ruined. Every reference to a thing in the background is ruined forever.

I guess. But like when it's the terminator I'm like and terminator one too it's like special. It's like very it's very. Terminator one's just a fucking slasher flick. Terminator one is a film noir slasher. Yeah so it's just like little kids getting excited for like the murder movie. Plus plus people I won't say which game but the kids do mark out to playing a certain game in the

arcades. Oh man. And I was like and an entire episode I believe is called that or something like the name of the arcade machine. When you go see it the movie someone the kid from Stranger Things fucking Mike isn't it as like you know one of the not the main guy but whatever he's like yeah I didn't want to fight this fucking clown I want to go in the arcade and play Street Fighter. And I'm like man that's fucked up like the timelines all messed up and it's like no

I feel like even though they didn't show what he was playing on because there was like the camera was inside the screen of the cabinet looking at him.

So you couldn't see what he was doing but it felt like a six the six button variation so that's special. But like there's certain things like if it's lost on me I don't care and I'm like that's a dumb reference nobody cares. But if it's the Terminator Street Fighter I'm like yeah that's the thing. You're the problem you're like just no you don't get it. You're like oh if it was the thing that you love most you'd still do it. That was already in the in the fucking first episode.

There's a fucking uh a movie marquee of John Carpenter's The Thing on the fact and fucking background like the first there you go but I'll do that too. And it's just a bunch of interviews and each one gets more and more disturbing they do solve cases along the way but uh the last episode was like very open it's it's gonna have a second season for sure but they inter-splice this show with the beginnings of another famous serial killer that's doing stuff completely independently no one knows what he's doing and who he is or whatever yet but if you look at him and if you know anything about the history of serial killers and the time frame you're like huh I wonder if that's that guy or that guy

you're like oh are they gonna bring like this dude into it and they leave it very open and where no one even knows what this dude is they just always show like him preparing to become the serial killer he will be and I was like that's really interesting and I was like I hope they really like fight that guy in the second season or whatever but um I I really really recommend it because I really like that type of stuff like the Hannibal will like way less artsy fartsy than Hannibal but um sounds like sounds like Hannibal and um um what should I call it the uh the other one uh zodiac no cop cop true detective yeah yeah it's it's more akin to true it sounds like those things open the door for like it's true detective these shows to get green light but in an FBI like

you actually get a good sonic generations was considered good 3d right yes it was yeah I mean I had my own problems with it but those are specific I can't stand it but I I would put it at the top of the ones I can't stand yeah but it seems like the main thing is that when a level just starts to get going the levels are actually like they're crazy short they've ever been like there are sub two minutes some of them they're they're they're so short the the music doesn't even have time to catch up to certain things so there's that stuff and there's other stuff like a lot of people I saw were saying that 2d sonic is actually useless oh yeah there's no real point to 2d sonic being in there so probably probably the most baffling thing and the most disappointing thing to me

was the story which is kind of a stupid thing but they they built it up like oh man it's old sonic you're oc it's like your oc is like a a stupid footnote nameless nobody cares he's called the rookie um well the way the that sounds good no but like the way the story is told is both hyper serious and like incredibly exciting and then the next sentence coming out of someone's mouth will just invalidate everything that they said so like um fucking sonic one of the first things that happened you gotta go rescue sonic new guys gotta go rescue sonic he's been on the death egg being tortured daily by egg man for six months okay okay so then you go okay no wait let me back up the first thing is I can't believe sonic's

fucking dead we all saw sonic get fucking murdered by infinite he's dead then you you can start and a cut scene starts where knuckles goes sonic's alive you gotta rescue him he's been been tortured for six months by egg man then you go get sonic in in one of the shortest levels in the whole game which is like 90 seconds and sonic's just chilling in his thing he's like boy I sure am sick of being tortured come on and let me out and he's completely normal and fine there's tonal like contrasting story elements it's the weirdest fucking thing I didn't get to that type of stuff really that much but like I read that in a lot of it happens over and over and over and it's it's so fucking weird the fact that mania was only a few months ago also makes this look way worse oh

yeah mania's a triumph or this is a well you have to just yeah and in that in that bionic gar commando way I suppose yeah the idea is to just separate the two and and say this is this and that is that here's the problem you can't separate the two because sonic forces is a sequel to sonic mania really the final the like super emerald ending of sonic mania is that you follow the phantom ruby into a different dimension and the phantom ruby is what gives infinite all this powers wow I didn't know there was a connection that yeah that's why that's why that's why sonic from 2d is there at all but also he doesn't speak or do anything and he just hangs out with tails and tails like boy we gotta stop it it's like it's fucking good as a shit see so no you can't

separate them it's a direct sequel huh well uh I mean I've been playing sonic mania and that thing's perfect yeah yeah it sure is isn't it it's astonishing that game actually even gets better the more you play it although one thing that is uh the one the one thing that is different about it is is uh they've like some of it is more challenging than 2d sonic is oh absolutely ever without doubt it has to be yeah it totally has to be they gave you the new power that is the the the the spin drop yeah which I it took me the whole game to actually figure out yeah um because I was doing it wrong the whole time yeah I think you think it's jump and hold and press down and and spin yeah no it's not just double tap and hold um but like because of that sonic's way

more mobile and powerful so that it ramps it up to accommodate but the levels are also like three four five times bigger than the levels are the levels are all bigger which is like I which I always wanted which is like don't end this so soon I want to keep running they're enormous but you don't like and but there's been like the moments where you you're doing like these massive stretches of speed like are interrupted very quickly where it's like okay no now now back to gameplay like you're not just going to enjoy this cutscene of rolling yeah now do this like relatively difficult platforming at high speeds and then there's yeah and then there's like three or four different pathways here there's like that one boss in in um um uh uh what the second area uh

in casino polis or the second the first uh unique area it's the anyway you're the synopsis when you're on the road and the missiles are coming yeah that's tough and it's so all and I'm like what is weird about this that is giving me a problem and it's because the jump physics completely change for that scene because you're running and you can't just jump over a missile that's coming at you you just don't have the momentum yeah it has it has it has like what I would call it but all the physicists in that game are right like they're correct but in a lot of sonic areas you don't actually spend a lot of time in the run state jump physics it's not you you only you only feel that when you're doing stuff like uh uh blowing through like green hill zone

and you're using like the ring boxes to catapult yourself right right right yeah um but they made a boss fight around that movement and it's it's tough like like that thing was such a weird moment because I was like okay so a basic obstacle is coming at me very slowly and I'm can't I'm unable to just jump over it I'm like okay so then you have to wait till there's grooves in the road to give you yeah you know a little bit of a jump but then those grooves are randomly kind of coming and there's just little things like that you're like uh this is not just a free ride no you know um so it's a video game you know it's a free ride sonic forces sure that's a free ride yeah except in the platforming areas where you did you have where you just have death dude and you have nothing to do

with your skill you have the slowest acceleration in that game right up until you're you have the acceleration like your character goes it's the worst you know how um mario games now basically they have two audiences to cater to the people that have been playing them forever for their entire lives and then you play them so you always have the easy levels and then eventually there's the really challenging ones at the end yeah it feels like you know sonic mania was made just for the fans that were always there well what what it actually does is that there is uh mania or forces he's talking mania okay mania does have this awesome thing that was kind of in the old games but it's like there is that there is an in-game difficulty selector yeah and it's did you fall

down the stage okay the bottom of the stage is easier than the top of the stage oh really yeah interesting i didn't know that okay yeah and there's also lives but there's a save so your lives don't matter you know technically yeah anyway um uh speaking more platformers i just want to quickly uh mario odyssey probably maybe my game of the year i'm not sure yet uh played a shitload of it just a lot of feels a lot of like oh my god that was so fun oh my god okay yeah like there's two specific sections you've been in the game maybe um you know but there's two specific sections where i'm like oh my god i am so happy okay type things and and usually mario games have kind of like like galaxy not so much galaxy was this general like slope of like yeah but like

just level your character the ability that that quest is very western rpg where like you can do this quest whenever you want it's witchery is shit man but you have to be level 20 to do it i'm like level 14 i attempted to do the anubis like timed quest which willy i think you've been gone when they announced it but it's like for a certain period of time like a week they'll be like fight anubis it's a giant dumb boss fight i saw the cuts you did the trailer okay but this is a giant dumb boss fight that will occur on your map go to it you should be level 40 which is the cap which is the cap i just started playing the game i'm on level 13 and i you know like you know what i think i know oh god dude can't do it the is there is there an explanation for why he's an

animus it's an animus glitch okay and it has manifested in the form of the god anubis if you beat anubis you get the anubis armor set yeah which is not available in the store yeah okay speaking of the store yeah i'm like fuck this store and then i'm in an encampment where i'm like i really really really could use like a poison dart right about now i'm too i need the ability points i don't got them so i go in i buy the i buy the the base amount of helix points to to buy those two ability points to get it and i completed the mission really really easily there are so many ability points in that game they got you around there is but i wasn't because i was in the middle of a stealth encampment i wanted to shake my head someone was in your way sorry loot box master

see those are cosmetics yeah someone was in your way you also bought cosmetics you bought the the money not nearly as much as you yeah well yeah but i'm oh sorry and and and i'm a sick well well you can get a hot you can get a mummy's alive costume which is like you literally got a red burning eye and you can fuck up cut scenes by making out you're with your wife it's a it's a like a cosmetic bonus type of thing it's it's it's cosmetic i don't think it has any stat changes or whatever but yeah the costumes are all purely yeah uh regardless i'm really really enjoying the game uh i have i have seen zero bugs not to say that they're not bugs in there but i have had the least like bug free assassin's creed experience in my life i'm playing it on

the pc and it's a fantastic pc port aside from some cpu optimization but also i have seen one bug ever and it was my favorite bug of all time really it's the red dead bug where the fucking feet of the oxen gets stuck underneath the world oh wait i saw that but it was a actually never mind it was a hippopotamus that was dead but floating above the ground that was it no but the you know the famous red dead bug where the it would cause the horse drawn carriages to fly in a fucking space yeah because the the horse's feet would spawn underneath the geometry yeah i saw that happen once with a with an ox drawn cart and i was like that's my favorite bug in video it's my favorite one it's good uh and it didn't fly off it just kind of reset itself normally and that was like oh but um yeah

that's that's the only thing i saw a hippopotamus kind of floating above the ground a little bit but uh yeah i'm really really enjoying the game like i'm like i going forward it's like i don't want to play a new assassin's creed next year no i want them to take the time and make another one of these because this is it this is also made in case not your if you weren't aware willy this is made by the core black flag team yep that is it yeah but i've been working on this since black flag well i thought they were working on skull and bones i think that's someone else okay i i've just read an interview is that it's like yeah it's the core team that made black flag i there's a lot there's a lot of people so there's thousands it could it could literally be both of

these probably my my like most this core team and then the rest i remember i'm pretty sure because i remember thinking when i was crossing the desert going like their last game was nothing but water and this game is nothing but land land and there's a good amount of water yeah and there's there's a big part of water up at the top of the map that's just so you can do boat missions nice okay i didn't go there yet because i played about like seven hours of it i'm like yeah yeah i want to want to play more and the last kind of thing for games at least um is that uh i was unreasonably excited for doom on the switch yeah what up i don't know i bought a physical copy and i was just like yeah let's just let me boot it up and after the mandatory uh seven gig

patch totally destroying the the reason why you bought a physical copy in the first not totally yeah but it saved me space but whatever i got a i got a micro sd card that like i got a 200 gig thing so that that's a lot of stuff but like i pop that in and man that doesn't look as good as every other version and man it doesn't perform as well but it's still doom 2016 and it's still fast it's still responsive and i tore through the first two levels and i was like yeah i will boot this up whenever i am i want a quick session on the plane but like if you only own a switch or you really really like how can i like get it but like otherwise it's nice that arcade mode is just there but i mean it's there and i didn't know how in depth arcade mode really was where it takes

out all cutscenes no no it's it's it's just levels oh yeah and i was like whoa i didn't know that because i never booted up i was like eventually when i heard that the switch is going to get a pour is going to get arcade mode and i was like oh i'll go through arcade mode there feels like it would be really not fun on joy cons uh when handheld mode i was totally after like 10 minutes i was like yeah no i'm doing it but a lot of reviews i read it's just like if you're going to play a dock like yeah just get out the pro controller it's it's better that way yeah any game that's asking that much of you input wise i feel like you just grab the control the main deal with that is that uh the base game on the base difficulties actually is kind of marvelous in terms of its

performance amazing but uh the higher difficulties add more enemies yeah and uh digital foundry showed some videos off of like what does the what do levels look like when you have the max amount of enemies on and it's it's poor yeah it's like sub 20 in a lot of places it's still though you're looking at it and it's still like wow what a technical fucking achievement i think it was a another developer that ported it to the switch i think it's called uh panic button i'm like they must have been slamming the panic button the entire time like how are we doing this how are we doing this fucking answer is an incredibly aggressive uh adaptive resolution yeah yeah which kicks the game down to like 480p something like that at its lowest level yeah but i mean like the the main

thing to it is that it's still fast and like it was for me up until i didn't play on the highest difficulty but for me it was like a rock solid 30 and i really honestly didn't it didn't feel bad at all like it felt fine because 30 locked is always fine yeah it's fine at at at the most as long as long as you have good frame pacing it's fine yeah i appreciate the brands becoming self aware and nintendo bandai and doom all talking to each other having a sleepover they're all a thing that's a weird man um this this age of this age of twitter brands being like affable is is happening well we're a twitter brand and we're very affable but but our twitter itself is just a robot yeah that's the brand yeah robot it's a robot if we if we started answering from it and and be that would

happen you can mix four cereals together which is which i did and woolly we we all know the meat sweats yeah yeah i got the cereal sweats yeah that's bad we're after the four cereals in a standard size bowl i was like whoo yeah whoo well you're eating like a fist full of sugar man yeah so i i i walked home and i bought some things and i was just working out up like a hell because i'm reading them like what do you do when you're like oh shit cereal about to go to a diabetic sugar it's like work out dude work fucking out but uh before i ate any there i uh i was talking to like a guy i just thought was a server and he was like yeah no i'm the owner i'm like oh okay cool cool cool and there's this giant um

board room that's in this restaurant that's a big glass thing and a giant like you know when you get talked to for verbal warnings of course bug testing yeah he has this big glass room and he's like oh yeah i'm also like a pr company and and shit i have this and then i look out on the restaurant as i do my other business here i'm like cool cool cool hey have you seen these cereals and i took out the picture of the vanilla cinnamon lucky charms he's like whoa and i'm like yeah yeah i have a couple more and he's like yeah yeah yeah and i'm like yeah i want to i want to do a show where i review cereals he's like you can film it here you can film it here so the connection has been made a fucking predator handshake and he's like you're into cereals dude and i'm like i

know it's funny when i have couch and controller energy to burn also at this place they have saturday morning cartoons playing every day oh that's just the fucking cherry on top they had duck tails and inspector gadget playing on the screen so that was a very nice touch barley it's called very fun anyway okay cool um i uh played a couple things uh while i was doing some scream learning uh yes i heard you scream before last and yeah that was uh that was fun that was a really interesting i saw you looking prim and proper it was uh over at montreal esports which is the new building that's opened up on like pretty much central samara like yeah i know i walk by every day and um and it's uh yeah basically like they're it used to be a party shop yeah so it's a really

fancy office now all glass walls everywhere type thing and uh george st pier recent ufc victor over michael disping and who played bar talk the leaper in captain america winter soldier that too perhaps his number one achievement maybe ufc being somewhere in the distant third yeah maybe uh he was uh yeah he basically has his esports team that he's making um so a bit like how echo fox you know is is set up like athlete gets into the esports game uh gsp is getting into the it as well and so the first grizzly inductee winner of that tournament was uh chy rithy henry shocker well uh if you haven't been following it actually is because really yeah yeah because Street Fighter 5 is a very different game now and lots of new names lots of new threats and it's

um i played i finished off metroid 2 yeah and uh that is a really fun remake boy oh boy because you kind of bounce around between saying i like it and you're like i'm not sure about that changer so you know what it is it's that it's what you end up having is just like when you're you know you're so you see something and you're like this is different yeah this is not what i'm used to it's different yeah it's different and it's like yeah it is and then at the end it was like all right you know what no that was fine so so it finished strong finishes very strong cool finishes with uh a really really awesome sequence that you know isn't very metroid like and also is not what you know because there's no there's no shine spark in the game it's metroid 2 you know what i

mean like you're you're fighting you're going off to fight the queen and whatever and stuff but but like the powers you do get are um like like i said they're impeccable and yeah i think my single like besides the actual shine spark my single like favorite like power up of any metroid game ever is the one introduced into this game um it's a new i've heard about right to it is and is it is yeah i don't know what it is but i've heard multiple so you get what you get in the game is you get a couple of different um like passive power ups right sure right and like you can you set them on dependent the user energy meter and like one of them is like just like an armor shield yeah yeah it's the green shield one of them is a uh time stop time slow so that it lets you get past areas

that you otherwise wouldn't be able to the door coming down have tons of enemies use slow down and move and it uses that bar one of them is map uncover which is a chunk to just do a radar you know that's great and unchunk a square a chunk of map and it's like that's super useful and then the final one is it turns samus's gun into an automatic okay and you just hold button and problem solved problem solved problem solved it's amazing and it feels good and it's just is that that's the last ability yet that's the that's because yeah it is yeah and it is that's amazing because that's what you need to want to clean up anything you haven't gotten dude leading up to the last fight you can when you're when you're when you're when you're doing yeah when

you're doing like uh when you're shooting through like all walls and whatnot you have your your best version of the gun and everything yeah well not like you just absolutely melt any room you run into and it's fucking great uh super super cool so um bruh bruh tata tata tata is the sound of samus now yeah but but anyway no metro two really good remake uh mercury steam good job guys you did it it finally did a completely unarguable good job uh most frustrating and annoying thing about it is again the fact that it's on the fucking 3ds well and here's happy to resell it to you in eight years on the switch i hope we can get a proper game that is 2d on the switch please i know prime was four is coming but we also could use one of these that'd be nice anyway uh so yeah just you

know a lot of time just you know killing time with darkest dungeon and and um finding a vizek back and forth and whatnot but i mentioned sonic mania before as well yeah um so and i guess uh yeah i guess i'll the only one thing i'll mention is i picked up drop mix are you familiar with drop drop mix now drop mix is the new game from harmonics and it is half card game half uh like music a mobile game which is super not in the wheelhouse of our discussion but here's what it is is uh you have you basically you download an app right and then you have a board and the board lets you play cards on these slots each slot is um either vocals bass drums lead okay you know rhythm and so on and and you play a card game or you can just freestyle it where you play the cards

down of different points and different values and it creates mixes on the fly and it sounds incredible that sounds like it would be a nightmare to actually get that working properly and you it's it is almost impossible to make something that sounds bad i bet you i can i promise you it's really hard i don't think you understand there's mixes that don't go as well as others but they all come together really well and the whole thing is based on the fact that whatever you put down first pretty much sets the bpm yeah sure and everything else is going to match that yeah that makes sense right and then when you and then certain cards are like certain songs are like and they're all like real current songs and whatnot you know and and certain tracks

will remix everything and like up and then speed it up to that song's uh uh uh bpm and and key it's hard to describe you really just have to get it by sort of seeing it in action but i promise you it's a ton of fun and it's not a rhythm game it's a music game okay um okay i guess uh uh uh yeah i really highly recommend it um the like at first it felt like the there's a bit too many rules on the versus mode and that i just kind of want to have fun being a dj right and whatnot but then after getting into it and and really paying attention to the rules and harmonics has done a couple streams to explain how this card game version of it works it's quite in depth and and well thought out and uh yeah if you haven't heard

of or seen what they've been working on it's fucking harmonics drop drop mix right it's harmonics they know what the fuck they're doing they're not going to get into a card game thing unless they've done some research and like this game is uh liam and uh and tom have been uh posting a bit about it actually and yeah um look into it honestly it's a super fun music game that they just put out on and it's great for like you can do a 1v1 2v2 or like party mode you know a whole room gets in that type of thing uh so this actually reminds this is this might feel off topic but you talking about this game reminds me because you were looking at divinity 2 right i was i bought it uh did you play any of it you make character not yet so there's part of the

character creation process that i forgot to mention that you would really really appreciate the final thing that you choose during your character creation and it's per character like per person um you choose what instruments are used for all of that character's character moments oh nice so uh like the quest acceptance or quest completion or you know big moment for your character you can choose from like a piccolo or like a spanish guitar or like a i think a shamisen and all these these fucking things oh my god yeah i'm really sick excuse me um that's awesome that's a really unnecessary oh it's so unnecessary and you even get to like you as you choose in the menu the main menu music changes to fit it nice yeah um yeah so uh uh yeah this thing

is like like i feel like uh uh the best way i was like when i when i showed it to my girlfriend like you just kind of like turn it on and hand them a deck of cards and then they go uh what and then you put a card into a glowing box and then the thing starts playing you go okay and then you put another one and it's like oh hey yeah and then you can and then you do things like and then i grab another card and i put it on top of the first card and then the mix goes down and you're like oh that works shit and then so you're like whoa and then it plays the new top layer in and whatnot and like and then you can pull things off and it always does it to the beat as well because it knows when the transition should occur and such so it really does make it like uh you can be

incompetent and still make something you know pretty sounds perfect for me and uh yeah you can save your mixes and such there was there was a a petty arcade comic about it that i went back and i read that it's the whole thing about remember we're talking about the crabs on with like playing games for fun versus playing for the experience that's right for playing for the uh the experience of beating it rather yeah so some of that is fighting the game versus experiencing the game right so what was you know like taiko's like if we stop here we will have created the perfect song this is like a religion of music and we can just quit and enjoy this and he's like nah fuck you i'm here to win you know type of thing because that's that's what's happening but what is fun as well as that

like cards of like lower value have like are more mellow and cards of higher value are like bombastic and higher tempo yeah so and and the cards of higher value beat out the lower tempo so every time you play like a oh shit moment the music in the room reflects that moment because you're like ah fuck you i just took over this is like a fucking crazy future game that i would not have expected so soon well if you you're you've been to japan i have you've been to those arcades i have did you go up to the top floor yes i did you saw the card games i did then you've seen there was not a single person there using them so i did oh well i guess you were not there when they were you were there when they were at school yeah something but if you were there and after school

hours you'd be seeing tons of kids playing their card games on what we should have here which is like you know your your fucking any card game has the um uh nfc chips in them or whatever or i or our or yeah and then you just drop it on the thing and then you get to experience your fucking monster rancher battles and whatnot um so that's been going on there for a while and like this is the first i guess like big push thing here i've seen like it uh though oh i think just like harmonics to use an idea that was big in japan but then make it for us yeah no really think about it yeah basically but they did a good job they do a good job didn't okay joe anyway um news shall we shall we there's some fucking weird there's some weird news actually there's one weird news i saw

our kappa and he said that he was the one who leaked uh ninja turtle senator chantress being in the fighter pack three and posted some game facts things to whatever so so there is some there so the credibility comes from yeah this person posting it's not nothing yeah uh there's a lot of detail here though and some of it is i know for a fact too much to tell like just relating alarms well there there's a lot of this like it doesn't read like a wish list as much as it does read like some practical things because uh in particular what he talks about when he talks about the unity changes that i'm like i go yeah that's true because that is something that has been talked about that's happening so we'll start off with uh the list of street fighter for street fighter five

arcade edition and the the second point of this list is what made me stop stop believing it okay the marvel ship no the second part of street fighter five arcade edition is like no i don't believe that okay okay well okay so season three characters include sagat sakura kodi saddam two newcomers uh two final fight newcomers from one source but roxy and a shadow doll for that's cool so perhaps there's some internal discussion but they're saying this looks like it's going to be the season three group so much final fight i love that i i early on and up until a while ago kept saying that sagat's not coming back and black is not coming back because annoying characters are being done away with because they don't want people to have to deal with annoying play styles

right gal came out and then shows that no we can still do projectiles even though we've made and it can be fun right yeah yay yeah uh so but but here's the thing is every time that's happened the discussion of are we getting sagat back though it's a got coming it's never gone away oh the question so fuck the question has been around aggressively for so long that it's like even with them pretty much saying like yeah no we're trying to make annoying characters not hang you know be a thing it doesn't matter right and so i feel like maybe they'll reinvent it but maybe they won't but either way the idea that like yeah season three has him right up front dude he's the only one still missing right i believe laka who cares but well you mean from the four you know

so it's i know what you mean but like the distinction is kind of made to make it clear like this stage is here to support the pro tour yeah and we don't want that money to necessarily be confused with the rest of what's going on over here just want the all pack i know i know and that's the simple the other thing it's like buying cut character colors or buying costumes was like also somewhat because there's there there's no like i want all the characters for karen or i i want all you know yeah but the prime it's just when you get down to the nitty gritty of it right it's like imagine if you are like uh i don't know it's kind of like if someone bought one thing and then potential future releases can fuck that person over sure then to avoid those people getting

upset at that then you you need to like make it more complicated than the main problem is like also the interface on steam for that stuff is pretty bad okay because like you kicks you have to see it's pretty i mean it's not much better on ps4 to be honest you know like you're scrolling through a bunch of boxes and you're like which one's the okay what you know it's a bit weird but anyway the point is is that i could see that being practical because they're currently in the shitter with the public and people are not happy with capcom and i could see them wanting to apologize through that type of gesture and the same goes for the mvci details but anyway um they talk they go on to talk about uh color edit mode and critical and extra critical arts being in the game possibly

not right away and we know that looking at the move list that was leaked from a promotional picture with abigale's moves on it that there's a second v skill or a second v trigger but not a second v skill so some of those things that like there was a there was an early early leak that said second v skill second v trigger second super is coming and then we saw that move list and it's like okay they're gonna probably come around a little bit later because it's too much work right now um then they talk about the input lag fix and this is what makes me think this because this is super real this has been going around for all the fighters right everything running on ue4 has had input lag based on the the engine that you know they're running on and it ranges in some cases

they managed to get it down from eight frames of like to six point five with street fighter five other games techend has had it as well and techend has has also recently reduced input lag by two frames it helps with online believe it or not right like it's it's it's shitty in some way but like it makes online easier so that like a lot easier right so that they have more but more frames to play with that when you're dropping frames when you're doing rollback and whatnot um it makes charge characters stronger with less input lag really because there's you have less time to react to what's happening like it's just straight straight up a thing in the game where yeah charge characters become better because it's harder to react to what they do um but uh

yeah this stuff harada just talked about techend getting updated for an input lag fix yeah they're going to port it to the new version of unreal so street fighter getting that as well because unreal had these changes but it's going to take a while for every fighting game with this to implement it is uh is uh one of the big rumors here that i'm like yeah nope that sounds extremely cromulate you know quite cromulent yeah uh second is mvci talking about season two um including star lord miss marvel is in kamala khan asura gill and lady uh but uh not everyone has been able to agree on lady and uh which is weird some people are saying was she other people are saying regina from dino crisis which is the who that is the deepest darkest pick well you say
