I played it alright amount of it So enter the gungeon has a fun little mechanic where there are mechanics that don't appear until certain hours of progress have been made Oh, wow, okay, and one of them is wall mimics Jesus so you know so you know how the best thing to dodge enemy bullets is to just take the biggest circle strafe possible Yeah, well every now and then when you do that the wall will just come alive and bite you and then come off the wall as its own

Enemy that's like a boss so Neo Way worse than Neo because Neo had fucking wall demons Yeah, but those were like like secret passages that you would have a fight with or you would do the Special taunt these are you're fighting the boss and you go to circle strafe and then the wall just Bites you out of nowhere, and then now you have two little bosses to fight. It's outrageous Yeah, there's a really great. There's a really good couple of them in this game and I love me. I fucking love mimics And like there's even like I'll I'll give you one type because there's there's many to keep out for so don't worry about it But there's one type where it's on death you drop your fucking feather, right?

Like it's your you drop your souls and when you return to them. There's more than one feather Shut up nice, and you got to grab the right one That's like because you should know where you died soul mimics, and if you grab the wrong one Well, you didn't die then something's coming for you, right? So there's fun stuff like that. Just great. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Fun stuff mean any other cool characters. There's been like yes. Yes. They never stop actually really That's one thing I will say is even into the late game There are still new characters walking in from stage left, and you're like you're a badass, too You have a cool voice and you're in any duds. Yes presents it cool, but it's not that great. There's been there's been like one

That's maybe that's that's still an incredibly low average. Yeah. Yeah, it's not even that bad Yeah, and then and again, I will say that like there are these these occasional sort of sentinel bosses that are like They're they're just like nights that are standing around that look like gold are from from MMPR so your nights got it and they have giant fucking cleaving swords and like You have to you. Yeah, they have they have No, which we call it a broads a great swords and you have to just fight these things and they're like they're fucking like crazy Hard to fight at first that eventually you can figure them out

But again the way they swing their sword around is like it's that flash limbs swinging in circles You know and it unfortunately has moments of that looking like I've had some boss fights where I've fallen out of the world Okay But it didn't end the fight it would it actually just like It it brought it back It was like a weird there's like a sequence in the middle of a boss fight We're in a dream place and like I dashed the way away from attack fell out of world And then it just brought me out of the dream sequence and continued the fight

So I was like, okay, I guess like it didn't end my run, but you know, I yeah I don't understand why you're giving so much time because they're still fun I guess but this is what you're describing a game that is really fucked up Um, I feel like you can get a single bug in our video. It's just crazy. Yeah. Yeah, I think we did I mean like a game like Dark Souls a game like that's game at a game like Neo a game like The surge again all of them, right? Yeah, they're fucked up and hard and they're unfair, but they're not supposed to be like Game Unfair they're supposed to be unfair because they threw a lot of enemies at you or cuz it has it tough that hasn't happened in a way that like

I did not you know, I didn't play these games I also did not have a streets of rage based childhood. I rented them a couple times, but I definitely know like yeah I just ended up playing final fight instead all the time But um these games like I would be super excited for this and I am I think it looks really cool I like the style we're seeing here and I mean the most too, but I'd almost kind of prefer it be another game The the most exciting thing I like the I like the art style that they're going for here

There's moments where you're jumping while still locked onto something And then usually in every devil may cry game when you jump away from something you just face that direction like that's where you're You look straightforward You do a little side roll on your back and here you stay looking at the target you're on In fact, it has more of a semi circle around whoever you're locked on than before Um, there was a really great thread that popped up that bork walks through some of the the mccanton movement differences as well and it's really uh in depth about how

dodging and And uh content basically your moves and uh your buster arm your breaker arm and your dodges are context sensitive So if you are running versus attacking versus You know like in midair versus standing still you're gonna get different versions of all those things It does a power bomb. This is the fucking so we just so that was a table hopper into a power bomb We just saw in the trailer action games with fucking power bombs. I'm loving it exactly and then all right So you get him using his devil breaker. He's got one that he can surf on What he's doing when he does a fucking like indy nose bone, whatever is a taunt

And that taunt can be used in midair and you can use it to rev up the fucking uh, the red queen He's got three taunts that that we're seeing in this demo that have gameplay effects one that revs up the Red queen and gives you a charge one that charges his gun to get a charge And more than where he puts the hood on from his jacket. Yeah keeps it for the entire fight Yeah, and there's even a moment where it looks like the enemy flinches when he does the gun taunt And here's don't take taking that motorcycle Splitting it into dual bladed chainsaw great swords And that's a thing now. Yeah

So I have it's never been cooler slash dumber than it has been that it is now I'm like really minor like barely anything complaint But I think you guys can agree with this is that like if you at least start let's say devil may cry three put in four and this one it's like Your demon bosses have the same fucking voice every goddamn time You can do I get it yeah, no the first demon But it's the same modulation or the same guys always the same voice the first demon that you fight is basically just burial again Yes, and that is more or less to do to show you the most traditional looking

What you think a demon is demon and that's how they should sound and step one is beating that and then you just go nuts from there so what i'm seeing here is One of the things with nero that they made in dmc forest They made him easier to control than daunte was with the style Yeah, it was more fun like he's got he's got a higher skill cap in certain respects with the timing on the rev But he is easier to control. He has let you're not switching weapons You just have a rock solid move set that you keep you don't have to stinger over to every enemy You can snatch them to you, but they clearly wanted to give him like a hundred new fucking moves

So the solution here was actually really interesting to me where they took the circle button or the b button Which would have been style for daunte and would have been uh devil bringer for nero And they said what if this is the style button for nero, but the style changes every 30 seconds and you don't control what you're getting next you can control when you move to the next one But not what the next one's gonna be. Yeah, so it forces you to do active style switching So the different break the different devil breakers that nero has of the five we saw in the demo Um, you're not you're picking them up as you fight But when one breaks you're automatically cycling to the next one in your rotation and you don't get to pick that

So you're not style switching. You're just dealing with what gets handed to you And there's uh three ways they can break if you get hit while you're using it If you if you charge one up and do the breaker move with it if you use the uh, what is essentially a super dodge By hitting the left bumper l1 So what it what it works as is basically dt cancelling So it's a devil trigger button and it just blows up his arm But it happens no matter what you're doing whether you're getting hit or someone's hitting you invincible and blows you away So you can use that to cancel out of your own things or avoid damage. Yeah, but it costs an arm

And uh, the ones that were shown there was one that is a big, uh, huge hitbox electricity hand There's one that should throws a million projectiles There's one that is just straight up dante's trickster style where you just get a dodge in any direction you want One is straight up the buster. It was one straight up the double breaker from dmc4 and it has all the throw moves Which is the one i'm gonna use now So it's also safe to assume that dante is not gonna have the skills that he has absolutely been confirmed to have his style switching Okay I mean, yeah, I feel like it'd be weird to take it away from him. They also said however

They said he's had style switching, but they also said he'd play more like dmc3 dante So I don't know. Yeah, that's terrible news I mean four four dante is taking all the three styles and giving to him to him at the same time Plus another one. It's now whatever you're locked onto the whole game is really making a lot of your moves Context sensitive to that the b button will change functions depending on whether they're above below or I level with you And like it's all based on who you're locked onto right. um and uh, I think they also said the uh, uh X act is easier too, right? So it's not just easier. It's that it You don't waste it on one swing You don't waste all three levels on some bullshit single swing You have to actually like when you would do like high time and you'd want the three version You would you would hit the button multiple times to go bam bam bam So so yeah, so to kind of break this down in dmc4, right?

There was a mechanic where uh, every time you attack with nero You can hit the rev button and you're left trigger by default and your sword if you timed it just right with your attack Would ignite on fire, right now you could ignite it up to three levels of strength And uh, if you're not swinging you can run around and then bring it up to level three But it would mean the first swing uses all that energy and then your next swings are Either manually timed or you don't have it the point of the energy addition to having faster moves and more damaging moves Is that anything like a high time or like a dash? What gain like extra swings and huge new huge explosion properties big damage big extra juggles and so on and so forth

Right, it really does. It's like it's like supers in street fighter games or so. So um Before you would if you were like out of combat your first swing would use your big level three attack and then You would do the rest manually or hope you would hope to get a bunch of hope to get three acts in there Yes, and that would require Frame perfect timing right now You can charge up to level three But do normal attacks that don't use all three levels at once

And it's a little bit more forgiving with you getting full act combos basically start with the level three and you're going swing swing swing swing swing You don't need to hit the level three super super difficult timing to get your final swing have the three levels Just get one on each and you'll keep that three charge now. Fuck all that complicated bullshit That's yeah, just just think about it this way when you're attacking There's a rhythm game happening so that after every attack you hit the r button And you hear a noise that makes your attack stronger Yeah, it's rhythm game and when you hit that rhythm game and you hear the noise going It feels really good and they make the rhythm game easier to do good and the and the and the thing burns

Faster and harder and you do cooler moves by playing the rhythm game the end they've said Dante will be playable at tgs cool Yeah, no word on v though. It does not appear that v is virgin. Okay, so what's the deal with putting this hood on? Is this a taunt? Yes. So like he said, so there's so yeah, so there's there's three taunts on the ground You can put the sword down and do the the the rev rev which is what Dante does to nero in the intro to tmc4 And he's like, oh my sword doesn't rev. What's the deal? Uh, you can put the hood on and it stays on for the whole fight And that and then that becomes your that's your thing or you can pull the gun out and then it reloads all your bullets

right away And I don't know if it's just timing or not But it looks like in the gift we see that the enemy backs up when he pulls the gun out and points it at him It could be a animation But let's assume it feels well because the enemies would sometimes react differently to taunts Right, some would get angry and some would get cowardly I should mention that the way that they have handled uh nero's gun is completely different. It's probably the biggest change It's now a big hefty

So the way that i've got to dmc4 is that you it would work like Dante's hand guys Bang bang bang bang bang bang juggle juggle juggle the problem with it in dmc4 Is that in order to properly use any of its charge shots you pretty much had to hold the charge button down 100% of the time Yeah, let it go whenever way better now which led to everyone remapping their controls So that like the x button Instead to shoot was instead trigger you have to be casually able to hold this button down the whole time you're fighting They have changed it now So that you charge it up and it just stalks up charged bullets that you can then use at your leisure later

It is now um donky kong and samus As opposed to yeah, exactly release or don't get it. Yeah. And that's the one that you're seeing the big electric palm strike with yeah The reason why that's good is that electric palm strike is just this enormous hit box that just stops everything And the way that works is more or less So you press b right if the if something's above you you're gonna sure you can it you're gonna uppercut it Yeah, if it's in front of you you're gonna do it a giant electric palm strike That looks like the palm from god hand and if it's below you you do a you palm the ground and an electric Sort of discharge hits the ground and aoe's a bit. Uh, if they're on the ground actually you get that version I saw I saw someone talking about how you can you yeah, there it is if you time it at the last possible second

You fucking parry you parry bosses and you throw them across so tap b to defense And again as long it's both an active and a reactive defense.
