So earlier this
Starting point is 00:00:41 week, we found out that Miss USA, 2023, resigned. Now we have Miss Teen USA, 2023. Uma Sophia Sirlastava announced that she's giving up her title. Wait, what? Yeah. So I can't do it anymore. I've, I've spent months grappling with this decision and I've made the choice to resign from the title of Miss Teen USA 2023. I'm grateful for all the support from my family, my state directors, my sister queens, and fans who have cheered me on since I won my state title. She is from New Jersey. I guess the runner-up, Stephanie Skinner, Miss Teen USA from New York, is now going to be the top. dog and be crowned Miss Teen USA. 2023.
Starting point is 00:01:37 So when is the next pageant going to be held? Oh, in August. In Los Angeles. So in August. So she's stepping down because she can't make it until August. Yeah. Well, that's sad news. I mean, she had, she considered it carefully.
Starting point is 00:01:54 She said she decided to resign as I find my personal values no longer fully align with the direction of the organization. That's interesting. However, I will continue my relentless advocacy for education and acceptance with my multilingual children's book, The White Jaguar, which I'm sure is great, and with organizations that I've had the privilege to work with long before I started competing, namely the Lotus Petal Foundation and the Bridge of Books Foundation. and what are those you ask?
Starting point is 00:02:29 Well, the Lotus Petal Foundation is a grassroots level organization that helps underprivileged children in India with education, nutrition, and I guess life skills. And then the Bridge of Books Foundation,
Starting point is 00:02:45 which you want to know what the Bridge of Books Foundation is. Well, funny, you should ask. They are a 501 C.O. 501 C. and they are changing lives by putting books into the hands of children who need them.
Starting point is 00:03:02 I got to love that. That's awesome. So she is going to still work with that, but she could not do any more Miss Teen USA. She looks forward to the rest of the year as she finishes 11th grade as part of the National Honor Society and start the college application process. knowing my academic career has been defined by hard work and my hard work alone, adding that she is also pursuing a new writing project. So she's out.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Have a nice day. What is happening at these Miss Teen Miss USA pageants? They, you know, after you spend all this time to win and then once you win, you can't do it anymore. I really, really strange. Welcome. Welcome. Good luck. Good luck, though, to all involved, and I hope everything works out the way you want it to work out.
Starting point is 00:04:02 Welcome. Welcome to Chewing the Fat. Weird story out of California. I'm not sure what to make of it, because on the surface, I want to be on this guy's side, but I really don't want to be on this guy's side. So, a California man, Jason Warren, 54, paid homeless. woman $20 to watch his seven-year-old granddaughter while he went to the bar and got drunk. Now, on the surface, like I said, there's nothing wrong with that, except that when he got back
Starting point is 00:04:40 to this parking lot, he started claiming that his grandchild had been kidnapped for human trafficking, prompting one passerby to contact the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department. Deputies found that, you know, he was really drunk, and he told him that he'd given, he told the cops exactly what happened. I'd given an unknown homeless woman $20 to go to a thrift store with the girl while he went into the bar four hours earlier to drink. The homeless woman, who the sheriff's office is calling a guardian angel, said she was confused, but knew the girl was in good hands. Why was she confused? The guy gave you 20 bucks to take his granddaughter to a thrift store for a couple hours.
Starting point is 00:05:22 So she said, I was like, okay, well, You don't know who I am, but I knew she would be safe with me, and that's what he said. I just, it felt right, okay? So then once the police got involved, they deployed canines, helicopters, and drone units. I guess it was a slow night in Sacramento to track down the girl. About a half hour later, Jope, the homeless woman, returned to the parking lot after hearing announcements over the PA system. She said, yeah, this guy paid me 20 bucks to go to the thrift store with the girl.
Starting point is 00:05:57 she said she didn't think he was capable of taking care of his granddaughter due to his drunken state. So I took the girl to my camp to get her some food. Okay, so that's not your call, their homeless lady. Your call is to watch the kid while he goes and gets drunk, okay? And he gave you some money for it. The girl who was not at any distress had no injuries. Yeah, because she was just being watched by this homeless person. So he said, when asked to get, would you do it again?
Starting point is 00:06:23 He said, yeah, I'd do it again. everything I did I told God about it and I said it's your will God not my will let your will be done now the child's aunt
Starting point is 00:06:36 who has full custody of the girl had asked Warren to watch her that day because she had to work and Warren said yeah I'll watch her but you know you never know when I got to go to the bar and he said I saw this homeless woman
Starting point is 00:06:52 and I could tell tell by her character that she seemed like a decent person. I trusted her like I would trust my sister or my cousin. Yeah, you say that, but then it's your fault that the police got involved because when you got back to the parking lot, you got freaked out and thought the homeless woman took the kid. So you started staying that your grandkid was kidnapped, which meant other people contacted the police.
Starting point is 00:07:18 So he's been charged with child endangerment after ditching his grandda. to go drink in a bar. See, I'm torn because I didn't know that paying someone to watch your kid or watch, you know, someone that you're responsible for was illegal. And that kind of bugs me. But I will say that, you know, it's a strange situation since he didn't know the person. And the thing that kind of irks me is that when he got back, instead of waiting, you know, for his grandkid to show up with the homeless lady, he started for.
Starting point is 00:07:54 freaking out. So that meant that he was actually really worried that he had screwed up and given his granddaughter to the wrong person. So maybe he deserves to be, well, he definitely deserves to be arrested. We'll see what happens if he's actually charged and sentenced to child endangerment. Just a weird story. That's all. You know, there are those who lead.
Starting point is 00:08:23 and then there are those who follow. And when it's time for you to buy or sell a house, especially in this housing market, the type of person you need is the former, not the latter. A number of years ago, Glenn, you know, Glenn Beck, got so fed up with the follower types, not to mention the leader types who didn't know what they were doing, then he decided to do something about it.
Starting point is 00:08:49 And he started real estate agents I trust because he didn't want you to go through all the same, hassles he had every time he moved. Real estate agents, I trust, pairs you with the best real estate agent in your area, someone who knows the best practices, someone who understands the crazy housing market, someone who's a team leader and a closer, someone you can trust. If you're thinking about buying or selling a home, or both, get in touch with them. You'll see what I mean. Real estate agents, I trust. Hey, that's a pretty interesting name. because you can to trust them.
Starting point is 00:09:25 Go to real estate agents.organt.com. Real estate agents I trust.com. Boarding for flight 246 to Toronto is delayed 50 minutes. What? Sounds like Ojo time. Play Ojo? Great idea. Feel the fun with all the latest slots in live casino games and with no wagering requirements.

Starting point is 00:11:04 social media, I saw where the chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Senator Mark Warner, from Virginia, told reporters the federal agencies, such as the FBI and the cybersecurity and
Starting point is 00:11:19 infrastructure security agency, and I love them, restarted discussions with big tech platforms. Oh, that's great because they want to coordinate with big tech, and they're going to focus on removing disinformation on their sites as the November presidential election years.
Starting point is 00:11:40 That's great. So it doesn't say misinformation. It says disinformation, but I'm sure they mean dis and miss. And so that's great. And he just said, look, we've resumed communications with the social media companies. You know, we resumed it, I don't know, a couple of months ago. And we're in talks now to, you know, in four. our, you know, our censorship issues. He didn't call them censorship. He said that the FBI
Starting point is 00:12:10 remains committed to combating foreign malign influence operations. Uh-huh. And that effort includes sharing specific foreign threat information with state and local election officials and private sector companies when appropriate and rigorously consistent with the law. Uh-huh. So just be ready for that. Good times. The government taking care of making sure that we're safe because we want to make sure that social media companies are able to combat disinformation. We don't want the people in America or around the world for that matter, but specifically here in the United States, to be able to look at something on a social media site and decide whether it's true or not for ourselves. You're too stupid. So we're going to help you out with that.
Starting point is 00:13:02 and we're just going to go ahead and censor things that we feel is disinformation. I mean, we already have a case before the Supreme Court, the Murthy v. Missouri, against government-compelled censorship. So we'll see what happens with that case in front of a SCOTUS as we speak. But the deal was that government was pressuring social media companies to censor free speech. Yeah, that constitutes a violation. of the First Amendment. So, we'll see.
Starting point is 00:13:36 We'll see. I know this is chewing the fat. It just drives me insane that we can't be held to our own discretion and let us make up our own minds. I don't need the government telling me what's dis and what's misinformation
Starting point is 00:13:51 and I don't need the government deciding what I should and shouldn't see. But hey, you know, that's just me. All right, let's go to the break room. I need something cold to drink desperately. So Disney in the news big, I know they had their big earnings call or whatever that everyone was listening to, so we got some information about Disney Plus. They added 6.3 million subscribers.
Starting point is 00:14:26 They have a total of 117.6 million subscribers, which is pretty good. That's pretty good. They had significant growth outside of the U.S. and Canada, though. They reported a net loss of 20 million. It didn't go over too well. They also, Iger discussed expanding content licensing selectivity, including to Netflix. That's a shift from previous exclusivity strategies. Yeah, no kidding. They're going to reduce Marbles output to enhance quality.
Starting point is 00:15:04 you think? We're looking at maybe two, three movies and two TV series a year. That may even be too much, but okay, if you think so. I'm not in on the meeting, so we'll see. The company is balancing between sequels and original content
Starting point is 00:15:20 and upcoming sequels and major franchises like Toy Story and Inside Out and Frozen. I mean, I loved Inside Out and I loved the Toy Story franchise. So, you know, if we could get the voices, I'm here for you. I'd like to be a voice in one of those.
Starting point is 00:15:37 I'm happy to watch that particular content. They also, it's being reported now that Disney, Warner Brothers, and Disney and Warner Brothers and Discovery. I guess it's Warner Brothers Discovery, right? That's one company. Plan to offer a bundle of their streaming services, Hulu, Disney Plus, and Max. Oh, isn't that wonderful?
Starting point is 00:16:02 That's great. We're just going to bundle everything. thing sounds a lot like I don't know cable and we talked about it before when these companies start bundling it's going to be harder to get your month in and month out for subscriberships but okay we'll see how that works out oh and they also said that they're going to do uh they're going to start cracking down on password sharing uh because that's worked out so well for all the other companies uh they're going to and it really has actually for them uh and so they're going to they're going to start password sharing
Starting point is 00:16:34 crack down in June in select markets. Oh, that's great. That's great. So those of you that say you have a subscription to one streaming service and you wanted to share it with a family member and then they get a subscription to one streaming service and they share it with you. Yeah, you're not going to be able to do that anymore. Heaven forbid you find a way to try to save a little money in today's economy. Nope. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:16:59 We're just going to charge you more money. All right. All right. You know, Disney, I'm sure saw the poll from Rasmussen, the latest poll, that said Disney should return to wholesome programming and allow parents to decide when their children are taught about sexuality. Wait, what? Yeah, that's right. That's right. 71% want Disney to return to family-friendly entertainment.
Starting point is 00:17:29 Good luck with that. LGBTQ activists are happy with Disney's gay inclusion agenda. Most Americans wish the entertainment giant would go back to the family-friendly roots. So, 54% of those who participated in the survey believe such programming is not appropriate for children under 12. 33% thought it was appropriate at another 13%. I don't know. Oh, wait. In this poll, it was not sure.
Starting point is 00:17:57 way back in 2022, there was a Rasmussen report about where they asked a thousand American adults if the emphasis on inclusion and diversity by companies like Disney was making children's entertainment better or worse. 45% said that push for inclusion is making kids entertainment worse. Well, 28% of American adults believe the emphasis on DEI issues by Disney is making making children's entertainment better. Now, that was in 2022. That'd be an interesting question to ask in today's world.
Starting point is 00:18:36 But Disney's been facing that box office backlash, and they believe that it's because of the LGBTQ representations in those movies. So we shall see. I mean, I've become so used to it in most of the network shows that I watch. They're just there specifically CBS. although they just gave the new, the CEO that was big on all the DEI stuff, the boot.
Starting point is 00:19:03 So that may change. But it's in there. And you just have to, you know, I find these shows that I kind of like the shows. And as long as it's not as overwhelming as it used to be, it's just always there. And you just kind of let it go.
Starting point is 00:19:17 Like, of course this character is going to be gay. Of course this character is going to be trans. Of course we're going to have these issues. with these people on the show. It's just, I don't know. I've come to overlook it, and maybe that's kind of a bad way to go about it.
Starting point is 00:19:38 There were some big announcements for shows and movies, though. I see where ABC is going to revive Extreme Makeover with new host, Clea Shearer and Joan Teplen, set for the 2024-2020 season. CBS has announced the Real CSI Miami, which is a new true crime docu series from Jerry Bruckheimer and Anthony Zuckerdow. They got rid of NCIS Hawaii, right? So they got rid of CSI Vegas,
Starting point is 00:20:11 but they're coming back with the real CSI Miami. Travis Kelsey is going to be acting in an upcoming FX series, grotesquery. This guy's on fire, man. Boy, boy, Taylor has really put him on fire. I know he's an NFL superstar, but Taylor has lifted him to another stratosphere. And speaking of Taylor, I see she's going to start touring Europe,
Starting point is 00:20:40 where she did, I don't know, today or yesterday, she started touring Europe, her first shows in Paris. So they're saying, oh, Americans are flocking to Europe to see Taylor Swift. So she's responsible for more tourism around the world. So be ready for more Taylor Swift stories in the news as her European leg of the Ares Tour kicks off. And Travis is busy getting ready for the NFL season, doing his TV show on Prime, and getting ready for his TV show on FX. Michelle Yo, set to star in Blade Runner 2099. It's a prime video sequel to Blade Runner 2049.
Starting point is 00:21:25 is underway as we speak. Vin Diesel is going to begin production on the fourth Riddick film. Wow. Peter Farley is directing I Play Rocky, a film about Sylvester Stallone's journey creating and starring in the iconic boxing movie Rocky. I laugh, but I'll probably watch it. I saw the promo for Wednesday season two on Netflix. looks pretty good and some big names co-starring in season two as well.
Starting point is 00:21:59 TikTok, my dance has sued the federal government. I think we mentioned that yesterday. So they're suing the government for the ban of the social media platform. So it's not going anywhere for a while for sure. Ricky Stroh, Apple TV Plus marketing head is stepping down after a 16-month stint. After his distinguished career at Disney. Yeah, he went from Disney over to Apple. Apple TV Plus, and now he's out.
Starting point is 00:22:25 Have a nice day. I'm sure it doesn't have anything to do with Apple Studios' class action lawsuit that they're facing over alleged labor law violations on, well, one of their shows. I think it's Palm Royale. But I'm sure it doesn't have anything to do with that lawsuit at all. I'm sure he just had enough. He's like the beauty pageant queens. He just, you know, he got involved.
Starting point is 00:22:48 He took the job, and then he realized, you know, I just have to do more with. my life. It's not what I always wanted to do. Oh, okay. With Amex platinum, $400 in annual credits for travel and dining means you not only satisfy your travel bug, but your taste buds too. That's the powerful backing of Amex. Conditions apply. Who died today? Who died today? First, we'll go with Jeannie Epper, Jeannie Epper, the epic stunt woman, dead at the age of 83. Her family said she died of natural causes at her home in Semivalley, California. Jenny Epper. Is it Jenny?
Starting point is 00:23:52 Is it Jenny? J-E-A-N-I-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E? She had a fan-tout. in an amazing career. She was considered the greatest of her craft, the greatest stunt woman that ever lived. is what Entertainment Weekly called her. She, her family also worked in films. Spielberg called them the Flying Wellendas of Film.
Starting point is 00:24:16 And her kids followed her into the stunt business. Yeah, well, she made a fortune. She was the stunt woman for Wonder Woman. She played Wonder Woman for, what's her face? Linda Carter. but I was also reading that she did Bionic Woman, Lindsay Wagner. She did Kate Jackson
Starting point is 00:24:37 for the original Charlie's Angels. She was the Tumbled Down the Mudslide for Kathleen Turner in Romancing the Stone. I love that movie. I love that stupid movie, Romancing the Stone. Joan Wilde?
Starting point is 00:24:54 I mean, Kathleen Turner, Michael Douglas, a fantastic movie. She did she fought for Linda Evans in her fights with Joan Collins on Dynasty. She was stunt driving for Shirley MacLean when she threw Jack Nicholson from the Corvette in terms of endearment. I mean, she worked in all these movies, and she was on all these films that Spielberg did.
Starting point is 00:25:17 I mean, Close Encounters and Poltergeist and Minority Report. She's been stunt coordinating for these movies. She was awesome. I mean, she made a fortune being a stunt woman in Hollywood and her family. went, you know, that's probably a pretty good idea. And they followed her into the business. Ginny Epper, rest in peace, dead at the age of 83. Man, that's got me.
Starting point is 00:25:42 It's been a long time since I've seen romancing the stone. I may have to sit through that again at some point here in the near future. Moving along to our next, Who Died Today? Legendary Nirvana producer, Steve Albini, dead at the age of 61 from our a heart attack. He was considered a legend of the recording studio, passed away. It was confirmed by a staff member. He died of a heart attack. So Steve Elbin, a legendary rock producer, dead at the age of 61. I'm sure it had nothing to do with that. He was 61, had a heart attack, died. If it was anything to do with that, they would have said it. Right? Right. So rest in peace, Steve.
Starting point is 00:26:30 dead at the age of 61. Then we have a guy who we thought was dead, but isn't. This might be a new segment. People, you thought, wow, he's still alive. David Gilmore, famous from Pink Floyd, he's 78 now. Apparently, he announced that he's going to be playing his first UK shows in almost a decade later this year.
Starting point is 00:26:57 So David Gilmore back on the scene at 78 because he's not dead. And another guy that's not dead, and I'm happy about that. Not that I'm not unhappy, that I'm not happy about David Gilmore. I just thought David Gilmore was dead. Billy Joel turned 75 today. Happy birthday. I hesitate to tell you to Billy Joel's birthday because it's going to get me thinking about
Starting point is 00:27:25 Billy Joel. Now I'm going to have stupid Billy Joel songs stuck in my head. I wanted to make sure, because I thought I had seen a headline that it was Billy's birthday today. And it is. So, happy birthday. Billy Joel turned 75. But I go to this, you know, to see if it's Billy's birthday. There's a long list of people that have birthdays today.
Starting point is 00:27:44 People have birthdays every day, Jeff. I know. I know. But a lot of stars, a lot of actors. So I go down this list, I'm starting to look at, you know, all these actors that have birthdays today. A huge list of them, all these musicians. Today is a big day.
Starting point is 00:27:57 May 9th, 2024. but May 9th, if you're listening live, it's a big day on people being born. And one of them was Candace Bergen. And I got to tell you, I almost put Candace in the, wait, she's still alive. And she is. But she's had an amazing, I mean, she's 78 now. And I thought, no, is she still alive? Well, she is.
Starting point is 00:28:20 And then I started reading about her career and all the stuff that she's done in her life. And she's had an amazing career, just amazing. And I was looking at her IMDB, which got me about Kansas Bergen. And I thought, well, what is she, you know, she's been in a lot of films. She's been, you know, she had her own TV show. That stupid Murphy Brown was on forever. She did 260 episodes of Murphy Brown. She made a fortune with Murphy Brown.
Starting point is 00:28:49 But she's been in all these other shows as guest shots and everything. And she did a bunch of Saturday Night Lives, which I had forgotten about. They talked about her history. with Saturday Night Live and how she came back and did these bits. And so she's been around for a long time. She's 78, Jeff. Of course she has. So anyway, happy birthday to Candice Bergen.
Starting point is 00:29:13 And really, happy birthday to everyone who was born on this day, May 9th, whatever year you were born in. Happy, happy birthday. The other name on the list that caught me by surprise was Albert Finney. I loved Albert Finney. He was in a lot of really cool stuff. And it says here, actor, Albert Finney, born at 1936. And I'm like, oh, there's no way Albert Finney is still alive, right? I mean, that's another segment.
Starting point is 00:29:39 There's no way this person is still alive, right? No, he died in 2019. But he died at 82. So it's very possible. He could have, he could be still alive. But I thought I remembered Albert Finney dying. So rest of peace to Albert Finney, who died in 2019. at the age of 82, and while it doesn't really matter, happy birthday.
Starting point is 00:30:18 It's hockey season, and you can get anything you need delivered with Uber Eats. Well, almost, almost anything. So no, you can't get a nice rink on Uber Eats. But iced tea, ice cream, or just plain old ice? Yes, we deliver those. Goaltenders, no, but chicken tenders, yes. Because those are groceries, and we deliver those too. Along with your favorite restaurant food, alcohol, and other everyday.
Starting point is 00:30:40 Essentials. Order Uber Eats now. For alcohol, you must be legal drinking age. Please enjoy responsibly. Product availability varies by region. See app for details. Some headlines that caught my interest. I see where Microsoft is going to construct a $3 billion
Starting point is 00:30:56 AI data center in Racine, Wisconsin. Racine, Wisconsin. And anytime I think I'm sure Racine is a beautiful city. But I can't think of Racine, Wisconsin without thinking of a league of their own.
Starting point is 00:31:12 I just can't. I love that movie. And one of those, you know, was seen. That's who the sister played for. It ended up playing for it. So it was, and they played against.
Starting point is 00:31:21 So, and who eventually won the World Series. We're in the first championship. Anyway, they were the members of the All-American Girls Baseball League. I could start singing
Starting point is 00:31:31 the song right now. There's another movie I haven't watched in a while. I may have to. Anyway, Microsoft, back to Microsoft. $3 billion dollar AI data center
Starting point is 00:31:40 in Rassine, Wisconsin. It's the latest billion-dollar investment in AI infrastructure as tech companies look to keep up with surging demand. So the project is expected to create 2,000 permanent jobs at the center in addition to 2,300 construction gigs. The data center will add to the roughly 2,500 such structures across the U.S. responsible for computing, storing, and processing the nation's data. Microsoft is a major stakeholder in ChatGPT,
Starting point is 00:32:10 and Open AI, whose technology requires, I don't know, enormous amounts of energy. Yeah, no kidding. Where's this, all this power is going to come from a windmill? I think not. I think not. And it's also located near the site of where they were going to build Foxconn back in 2017, right? So in the mid-2010s or whatever, they were going to build Foxcon up there.
Starting point is 00:32:38 And they were supposed to construct. this $10 billion liquid crystal plant, which never transpired. So hopefully this will transpire. I don't know how much government money they're going to get. And I don't know how long it can stay open with on a windmill's power, but they're going to do it anyway. And FTX said that they have recovered enough funds to repay all the defrauded investors. So if they can repay the defrauded investors, were the investors? were the investors ever defrauded?
Starting point is 00:33:12 I don't know. I don't know. I'm just telling you, the failed cryptocurrency exchange platform filed a proposal this week to the federal bankruptcy court for approval. So since the collapse, they've worked to track down
Starting point is 00:33:28 more than, actually, $8 billion in missing assets to repay an estimated $11.2 billion owed to creditors. This week, the company said it's recovered between 14,000, between 14.5 and 16.3 billion dollars, with much of the funds tied to the government-seased FDX properties or recovered from investments STX and its sister company made in hedge funds, digital assets, and AI startup, Anthropic.
Starting point is 00:33:57 FDX is also working to recoup payouts made to former company executives and the parents of its convicted founder. If the proposal is approved, 98% of the customers, those who invest in $50,000 or less will receive 118% of their investment. I mean, if they're repaying all of these people and everybody's getting their money back, were they actually defrauded?
Starting point is 00:34:26 I, you know, okay, whatever. I, you know what, I give up. I told you about Elizabeth Holmes going to prison, the Theranos, a fraudster, another fraudster. And I said, there's no way she spends that full sentence in jail. And I'll be surprised if she even spends this
Starting point is 00:34:45 amount of time in jail. So she has now had her sentence reduced again. She's now, if she serves this time, she'll be out in 2032, which is two years and four months before the original day. I would venture to say
Starting point is 00:35:03 that she'll be out before then. So they say hear that according to the Texas Bureau of Prisons website, she's in a women's prison in a prison in Bryan, Texas. She had her sentence reduced. This time, I think, was for, you know, four months, but before that, they had reduced it for a couple of years. So they just keep chopping it away. And I love the, well, we can't really speak on it. It's for privacy, safety, and security reasons. And for the inmates. We, we, we, we, we, can't really talk on it. Oh, okay. But, you know, due to good conduct and rehabilitation
Starting point is 00:35:43 programs and anything that we have going on, we can keep, you know, shortening the people's sentence. There's no way, the way she serves all that time. No way. And as I'm reading on, they claim that according to this, she still meets federal sentencing guidelines. Okay, so the mandate is people convicted of federal offenses must serve at least 85% of their sentence, regardless of reductions for good behavior. Well, she was sentenced to 11 years and three months in prison after being convicted on those four counts of defrauding investors. And she was also ordered to pay $452 million in restoration.
Starting point is 00:36:28 Good luck. So 11 years and three months, she's already cut the sentence by two years. and four months, I think that's more than 15%. I'm not a mathematician, but I would say that two years and four months is more than 15% of 11, right? Or it's pretty close when you get down to 11 years and three months and she's already cut off two years and four months. So, man, we're pretty close to that 85%. And I guarantee you again. I don't care what those mandates are.
Starting point is 00:37:09 There's no way that she serves 85% of that sentence. I just, I don't believe it. Oh, and speaking of crimes and criminals, I see where Shohay Otani's former interpreter will plead guilty to bank and tax fraud in a case stemming from his sports betting scandal and will be required to repay the Dodgers star, show hey, $17 million. Huh. So how much time does he spend in jail? According to this, if he pleads guilty to
Starting point is 00:37:47 one count of bank fraud and one count of subscribing to a false tax return, the bank fraud charges carries a maximum of 30 years in federal prison and the false tax return charge carries the sentences of up to three years in federal prison. Holy cow. And with the plea agreement, he's required to pay a show hay restitution, nearly 17 million, as well
Starting point is 00:38:13 as more than a million to the IRS. And those amounts could change prior to sentencing. Though he's going to be set to be arraigned May 14th. I don't think that's not the sentencing date, though. That's just the arraignment date
Starting point is 00:38:28 where he says he pleads guilt. and yeah, I agree to all this deal, and then he'll be sentenced to that. So we'll see. We'll see what happens. But a bank fraud is 30 years? Wow. Okay.
Starting point is 00:38:45 And I see where Brittany Greiner, you remember her, the one who went to jail in Russia, is back, obviously, in the U.S. and back playing in the WNBA. And she's also hawking a new book. So what better way to hawk a new book than to start attacking Caitlin Clark, the newest member of the WNBA. So, Brittany said that, yeah, I got to tell her that professional basketball is a different world.
Starting point is 00:39:17 Oh, really? Yeah. Yeah, you're playing grown-up women now. They're trying to feed their families. This isn't just for the love of the game. Yeah, okay. I know, Brittany, you're still a little jealous that, Caitlin's coming in making all this money and you had to go to Russia to play and then end up in jail. Got it.
Starting point is 00:39:35 So just calm down a little bit, okay? Don't be attacking someone that's bringing eyes to your league and hopefully will enhance your income. On top of which, they're going to now, I don't know who's paying for it because as of right now, Caitlin's the only one. Oh, that's right. And what's her face? Angel Reese. I apologize.
Starting point is 00:39:56 I can't mention Caitlin Clark without mentioning Angel Reese. they're coming to the league bringing all eyes and new money and new eyes to the league that you should thank them brittany instead of worrying about hawking your book and whining that there's not going to be as easy as they're playing grown women now so and also you should thank her that the wmba is going to start using chartered flights because you got all butt hurt that people were asking you questions in dallas and i don't disagree actually uh it was weird that you're just walking with your teammates out in this middle of, you know,
Starting point is 00:40:32 to be able to get hassled. But welcome to life. But now the WMBA is going to, you know, be chartering flights. That's not because of you, Brittany. That's because of Caitlin, well, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. Sorry, that's the rule.
Starting point is 00:40:48 You could mention Angel Reese without Caitlin Clark, but you cannot mention Caitlin Clark without mentioning Angel Reese. That's just, those are the rules. All right, I'll leave you with, well, this is actually, An advice, thought, and kind of a joke of the day as well. So it's all wrapped up in one.
Starting point is 00:41:06 I read this and I thought, wow, that's good advice. And it's an apology that should be shared. I didn't write this, but, you know, I wish I would have it. I would have written it had the event happened in my life. FYI, you only pee on a jellyfish sting, not a jelly stain. Again, my apologies to the late. at the Waffle House. See, that's good advice,
Starting point is 00:41:35 and it's good to know. And it's always good to apologize when you realize that you've done something wrong.
