Starting point is 00:00:00 Marshall's buyers travel far and wide, hustling for great deals on amazing gifts. So you don't have to. They've bagged this season's Italian leather handbags. Designer. Hand-picked the finest sweaters from the rest. Ooh, cashmere. Landed makeup pallets from the brands you love. Brushes too.
Starting point is 00:00:19 And hustled all those wishless topping toys. So plush. Our buyers have got you covered. Marshalls. We get the deals. You gift the good stuff. Blaze Radio Network And now, Chewing the Fat with Jeff Fisher.
Starting point is 00:00:36 Two more activists were sentenced and found guilty of criminal damage for pouring the contents of two tins of tomato soup over the famous painting in October, causing damage to the artwork's gold-colored frame. They also glued themselves to the wall. You remember these activists from just... stop oil. Judge Christopher Eyre in the UK admonished the two in court, saying the cultural treasure could have been seriously damaged or even destroyed by their actions. Now, do they care? Of course not. They even said when they were being sentenced. My choice today is to accept whatever sentence I receive with a smile. It is not just myself being sentenced today or my co-defendants, but the foundations of democracy itself. Now, the UK government has been criticized for us laws
Starting point is 00:01:40 designed to crack down on disruptive protest by rights groups in the UN special environmental defenders said that laws were being enforced in punitive and repressive ways. Yeah, good. And these aren't the first ones to go to prison because of it. And I hope there's more to come. Sooner or later, we'll get down to where there's no more of this. They were also a sentence. The one was sentenced to more time because they disrupted traffic and caused traffic delays in West London. And the judge said, you clearly think your beliefs give you the right to commit crimes when you feel like it. You do not. Amen. Amen. Amen. This needs to start happening here in the United States as well. Stop it. Stop it now.
Starting point is 00:02:34 That is awesome. I'm glad to see that this is happening because you're not changing anyone's minds and you're just driving us all a little bit more crazy. Welcome. Welcome to chewing the fat. I know that we have a lot to worry about here in the United States, especially in the United States, especially in, in the Carolinas and in Florida, Georgia, and Kentucky, and Tennessee, and Virginia, and West Virginia, all these states that were just hammered by Haleen. And flooded towns in the mountains, you know, they're struggling to regain communication
Starting point is 00:03:18 with the outside world. And Mercury One is there helping them. Mercury1.org, if you wish to help and want to see what's happening in the help. process for all these people. Just, we talked about it. I mentioned it on Saturday, on our Saturday show. These people were not prepared.
Starting point is 00:03:39 I don't know that you could be prepared for such a thing. And it's just horrible. And we need to help these people as best we can. And like I said, there's, you know, plenty to worry about here in the United States. However, something that's happening in another country that is, you know, on its way and could happen here in the United States. United States. Otters have started attacking humans and this cannot stand in my world. Humans first. So this 40-year-old lady was chased and mulled by eight mammals on this Borneo Island. And there's a picture of her.
Starting point is 00:04:22 I mean, she has deep gashes on her arms, blood streaked her temple, the t-shirt and leggings. I mean, holy cow. This cannot stand. Look, is that an otter coming out of the drain? Yes, and it's more than one. You may need to fire more than once. So she said that she was running and the jumped out of the drain. And the next thing she knew, she was surrounded.
Starting point is 00:04:54 She thought it was a cat, but if the creature jumped out, bit me and I was running. And the next thing I know, they were all. all over me. It's not funny. It's not funny at all. Otters have teeth and jaws that are strong enough to crack open the shellfish, and otter attacks are increasing across the whole of Southeast Asia. This cannot stand in any country.
Starting point is 00:05:17 I will not have it. They can grow to like four feet long, including the tail. This lady said she fought off the animals as long as she could, felt like it was five minutes until other joggers came down. to her aid and she is apparently the director of the wildlife department there said otters might have seen this lady as a threat to their cubs and reacted defensively yeah and guess what humans may react defensively as well oh my gosh is that an otter nope not anymore so apparently the adoption of Otters as household pets has become a growing trend across Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Starting point is 00:06:05 So the recent report found that 60% of the animals seized by authorities in Southeast Asia were headed to Japan. Are we eating the otters in Japan? I mean, okay. I'm okay with eating them in Southeast Asia. If their food, fine. Kill them. They cannot start attacking humans. No.
Starting point is 00:06:24 I don't care how threatened they think they are. No. they're carnivores and you know people are often freely traded online okay that's fine do whatever you got to do but they cannot be they cannot be attacking humans so i guess there some owners you know parade them around with leashes uh no and again i say no fine you want to you want to have a pet otter and you want to walk it around with the leash fine but it's just like we do here in the States and what needs to happen everywhere. As soon as
Starting point is 00:07:00 they think they're better than humans, no, you're going down. I mean, they can be dangerous. We're talking about they grow, as I said, four feet long, including their tail. Some of them weigh up to 30 pounds. And you have a half a dozen of them started attacking you.
Starting point is 00:07:17 There's a fight going on. And they said they'd seen them looking for food in this fenced off area around a lake? Yeah, no, they need to be, they need to be put down immediately. They, we cannot, this cannot stand. I'm sorry, Pita, I'm sure that they're lovely, cute little animals out there in the world, but when they started attacking humans, they, they cannot stand. Now back to the United States. I mean, the death toll continues to rise from, that have been attributed to Helene across the southeast through North Carolina.
Starting point is 00:07:57 It's going to rise. This tragedy is unprecedented. I mean, high winds, torrential rains, millions of customers without power. They're talking about people being without power and water for days, if not weeks. The damages, I mean, we're totaling hundreds of billions of dollars. Probably will make Helene the costliest storm ever to hit the U.S., yeah, which, you know, will be blamed on climate change. Before we start blaming things, let's rescue some people and let's get some people back on their feet.
Starting point is 00:08:29 How about we don't send any more money to other countries and we start spending money here in the U.S.? I say we stop all funding for other countries and we specifically focus on helping those here in the United States from our government, which is, again, our tax money. But also, if you're willing to help, you can go to mercury one.org. They are boots on the ground, and they are helping people as we speak. So you can go to mercury one.org. And when we start to hear the blaming of climate change, just remember that all this stuff has happened before. You know, it's a hundred year flood or, you know, well, it happened a hundred years ago, yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:10 And it happened again. It does happen. It doesn't make it any better. But it does happen. I mean, where my grandparents lived, it used to flood every year up to their house until, you know, it decided to flood like it did a hundred years before and wipe out an entire downtown area and all housing along the river. So now we can't build there because, oh, it may flood again in another hundred years. So it does happen. It doesn't necessarily mean that it's climate change.
Starting point is 00:09:38 But again, before we start blaming everything, and that will be blamed for this, it's going to be climate change. Let's get these people taken care of and help in any way we can. Then we can argue about what caused it. This episode is brought to you by Peloton. A new era of fitness is here. Introducing the new Peloton Cross Training Tread Plus, powered by Peloton IQ. Built for breakthroughs with personalized workout plans, real-time insights, and endless ways to move.
Starting point is 00:10:23 Lift with confidence. While Peloton IQ counts reps, corrects form, and tracks your progress. Let yourself run, lift, flow, and go. Explore the new Peloton cross-training tread plus at one peloton.ca. So the government-facilitated talks between Boeing and the union workers. Yeah, that collapsed. There's no date scheduled for further discussions. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:10:48 So those 33,000 production workers are still on strike. Then we have a dock workers strike coming up, which we have talked about before here on chewing the fat. So beginning midnight tomorrow, which is either today, right, tonight, if you're listening live today is the 30th of September, 24. Yes, so October 1st, the marine operators at the docks at 36 ports on the East and Gulf Coast could go on strike. And don't worry about it, though, because the damage of those ports being closed, we've talked about that before. only 60% of U.S. shipping traffic would be devastated. Yeah, no problem.
Starting point is 00:11:39 The analysts say that could cause like, I don't know, $5 billion of economic damage a day. Freight costs for businesses have already risen up by 20% and anticipation of the strike. Trains have stopped accepting merchandise because they're afraid that there's going to be shut down and there's no way to get it there. They're just going to be stuck with all this merchandise.
Starting point is 00:11:59 So the port workers who loaded on those of these box containers are saying, no, we need more pay. And they want 77% pay increase over six years. And they claim that, hey, you know, our wages for veteran dock workers have only increased 11% since the start of the last six year contract. And inflation has jumped 24% of the same period. Yeah. So right now the top wage of you. dock workers is, I think, $39 an hour, which is pretty good, but they do, you know, that's a great job, and they do hard work. So we have the East Coast dock workers who now have the same thing in
Starting point is 00:12:42 common with Hollywood, actually. They view the recent technological advances as an existential threat to their livelihoods. Protecting human jobs from robots that move cargo is the signature issue. So if the strike is resolved within a week, you're still looking at minimal economic damage, but it won't be good. If it lasts longer than that, it just can't happen, right? I mean, we've got to find a way to make sure that this strike does not happen. But it doesn't look like anyone is doing anything to make it so. So good luck. God bless. If you thought times were going to get better. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
Starting point is 00:13:28 Oh, I know. I know. And what do we do about it? That's the question. I don't know. I don't have an answer. I honestly, I don't. I wish I did.
Starting point is 00:13:37 I mean, I guess we just have to be prepared as best we can't. And, you know, hope and pray for the best. But other than that, I honestly, I don't know. You know, I can't give you advice on what to do because I don't know what to do. And it certainly isn't going to be pretty. And you can quote me on that. It certainly is not going to be pretty. But hey, people are still going to the movies.
Starting point is 00:14:01 Wild Robot was number one this weekend, $35 million domestic opening, $53.1 million global. Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice hung in there at number two, $16 million. Transformers 1, number 3, with $9.3 million domestically, which is not that good because everybody went to see Wild Robot. Kind of weird. And so people are still going to see the movies. Deadpool and Wolverine were 7th. They're still pulling in $2.65 million for the domestic weekend.
Starting point is 00:14:31 And then I haven't seen number eight on the list, My Old Ass, which is, they got in $2.22 million domestic this weekend. So it's Amazon MGM's comedy. My Old Ass, which was number eighth this weekend. And we've talked about plenty of new shows that are up. and running and still running in mid-season. Plus, the Walking Dead universe is back up and running with the Daryl Dixon show, Season 2, The Book of Carol. And Talking Walking Dead is back.
Starting point is 00:15:07 If you subscribe to Chew and the Fat, then you know that Talking Walking Dead was posted earlier today with myself, Jason Betrell, my son Maximus and myself, discussing the happenings in the Daryl Dexon, Dixon, season two, the book of Carol. so we go into detail on that it was good to have a talking walking dead back paramount apparently is ready to ditch nielsen now nilsson is a company that creates numbers for how many people are watching the age group of people watching how many how many people are watching and so paramount is like yeah you know we don't necessarily like the money that they're charging us and so i guess there's another company called video amp that says they have a more accurate audience measurement. Okay. I mean, it's a fragmented media world. So, I mean, you've got streaming and mobile and on-demand platforms.
Starting point is 00:16:03 And some of the new Nielsen numbers reflect that. And you see the streaming numbers separate from, you know, conventional television. So we'll see, you know, look, the ratings is what constitutes how much these companies charge for commercials. So the contract between Paramount and Nielsen, that expires like, I don't know, today, tomorrow, sometime in this, you know, soon. So they might be done. And, you know, what does that mean? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:16:36 It just means that Paramount is going to be able to say, well, our ratings show this, and they won't have anything to compare it with if they don't have the Nielsen numbers. So it'll be interesting to see what happens. and I had not heard of a video amp. So it'll be interesting to see if they can pull off a way to defeat Nielsen with their number rating process. Nielsen's been around a long time. And they're the big dog and the pen. So we'll see.
Starting point is 00:17:05 We shall see. And as far as platforms go, I see where Hulu is reporting that they are seeing record high demand for their exclusive shows while their subscriber churn has hit an all-time low. Wow. so good for them. I guess probably what they're claiming is that, you know, they have great content. And so they want quality over quantity because plenty of
Starting point is 00:17:28 platforms have a lot of content, but it's so-so and you want, you know, that exclusive, really good content. You can quote me on that as well. All the companies want exclusive, really good content. Yeah, that's what sells. I know. I know. I
Starting point is 00:17:47 know it's an amazing thing. It's kind of like the Blaze, giving you exclusive and really good content. And you can get, as far as long as I know, as far as I know, it's still good. My $40 off for a year's subscription. So you can go to blazedtv.com slash Jeffie, J-E-F-F-F-Y. Use the promo code Jeffie, J-E-F-F-Y-F-F-Y-4-0, and that gets you $40 off a year's subscription to Blaze TV. And you'll get all the Blaze TV and Blaze TV plus content. at a record low price.
Starting point is 00:18:20 And while this show remains free, chewing the fat, you can subscribe for free on any platform. And if you're listening right now on one of your friends' platforms and you're not a subscriber, quit being a freeloader. Nobody likes a freeloader. Everybody likes free stuff, which is what this show provides,
Starting point is 00:18:35 but nobody likes a freeloader. So subscribe on your own. However, your membership to Blaze TV helps keep this show free. Exclusive content, a really good shows. All right, let's go to the break room. I need something cold to drink desperately. I just realized I didn't mention Megalopolis.
Starting point is 00:19:02 Was that even in the top 10 of the movies this weekend? I mean, that's Francis Ford Coppola's big $120 million self-financed epic. Where was it? Oh, yeah, there it is. This was number six. Wow. This was opening weekend for that. Megalopolis, a $4 million domestic opening.
Starting point is 00:19:18 That is not good. You can quote me on that. That is not good. Have we seen the headline Megaflopolis yet? Because that is what that's going to be. He said that he didn't care. He self-financed and he put it $120 million in.
Starting point is 00:19:35 It's his money. Remember, I don't know if we played the audio or not, but he was in an interview at Cannes and talked about how he sold his wine or he sold his money and he lived his life and he's doing what he wants to do. But that movie, holy God. That's not good for old Megalopolis. So it's probably Megaflopolis is definitely the headline. Be sure to follow me on my social media at Jeffrey JFR on X, Jeff Fisher Radio on Facebook and Instagram.
Starting point is 00:20:07 You can email the show anytime chewing the fat at the blaze.com. Chewing the fat at the blaze.com. I see them all. I may not respond to them all, but I do see them. Thank you very much for all your comments and jokes to be used or possibly. be used for a joke of the day. And you can always order a cameo from me. That, of course, is not free at Jeffrey JFR on the Cameo app.
Starting point is 00:20:29 But it is worth every darn penny. So, SpaceX launched their mission that will eventually return the stranded Boeing astronauts at the ISS. And it has docked at the ISS. It launched this weekend, and then it has now docked with the ISS. So they're up there with two new astronauts helping out Sunny and Butch finishing up their cleaning of the ISS before. They're up there until February.
Starting point is 00:21:00 Holy cow. So they will be, hopefully everything is fine on the ISS and they'll be coming back to Earth ASAP. I don't know if I played this or not. I've played this to myself a couple times because it's so fascinating. But there was an interview with Bill Nelson, who is the administrator of NASA. And he used to be as a former senator in Florida.
Starting point is 00:21:23 It was when I lived there. He is a former astronaut and he is now in charge of NASA. And I'm not a huge fan of Bill Nelson, but he's, you know, he's okay. And he was doing an interview with this Axios reporter, Nialia B-I-A-L-A-L-A- is her first name. B-O-O-D-H-O-O-O is her last name from Axios. And she's, you know, wonderful. And she's trying to throw Elon Musk under the bus with NASA. And Bill Nelson is like, how about no?
Starting point is 00:22:01 Do you worry about Elon Musk and the misinformation that he spreads that's out to detracts or distracts from NASA in its mission? First of all, what misinformation and disinformation does he spread? Now you, boo to. But Bill, I digress. Bill is ready to answer. You know, the good news about that is that Elon has a president that he lets run the company. Amazing.
Starting point is 00:22:31 And her name is Gwen Shotwell. And she's done that. She was the eighth employee of SpaceX. And she's done a phenomenal job. And as we say in the South, the Bruce and the pudding, look. Look at the crew to orbit, cargo to orbit. Now, we'll see they, along with Jeff Bezos Company, Blue Origin, are going to be our two landers. We're going to get our astronauts to the moon in lunar orbit, and then they will transfer into first a Space X lander and then a Blue Origin lander.
Starting point is 00:23:15 Right, and I think it's not necessarily how Space Ex-Ex lander. as far as you're saying, I'm just talking about the distraction of the constant headlines about him. And if you all feel like that's a distraction. Well, they distract you, but they don't distract NASA. That's what a great answer by Bill Nelson. Come on. I love that. Now, is that absolutely true?
Starting point is 00:23:38 I don't know. It's a lot of pressure on NASA because of dangleberries, like from Axios, that keep throwing shade. on Elon but what a great answer from Bill Nelson and while I'm not a huge fan of Bill Nelson he makes me a bigger fan of him with answers like that speaking to Elon I see where we know now where the new X headquarters are going to be they are in Bastrop Texas which is about 35 34 miles east of Austin in Texas pretty incredible they've this city is about it's a big get for them and they have a incorporation documents to show that the new Bastrop address is the home of X now. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Formerly known as Twitter,
Starting point is 00:24:33 you know them. According to reports, that's the home of all these companies. SpaceX, the boring company, the boring bodega, and now the home of X. Wow, Bastrop, Texas is the place to be. If you want a gig or want to open up a business, that's a new city to be in right there because times are booming in Bastrop, Texas. I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if they changed their name to Elon. Or just Musk. Musk, Texas. Because that's the place to be right there. Elon, Texas, Musk, Texas. Kind of like Musk, Texas, better.
Starting point is 00:25:26 Boating for flight 246 to Toronto is delayed 50 minutes. Ugh, what? Sounds like Ojo time. Play Ojo? Great idea. Feel the fun with all the latest slots in live casino games and with no wagering requirements. What you win is yours to keep groovy. Hey, I won! Feel the fun!
Starting point is 00:25:44 We'll begin when passenger Fisher is done celebrating. 19 plus Ontario only. Please play responsibly. Concerned by your gambling or that if someone close to you, call 1866-3-3-1-2-60 or visitcomex-X Ontario.ca. Who died today? Who died today? man, it is a full segment in Who Died Today, today. Let's begin with Maggie Smith, the Downton Abbey Star, and Professor in Harry Potter. Yes, Dame Maggie Smith, considered one of Britain's most beloved and prolific actresses dead at the age of 89.
Starting point is 00:26:23 She was born, obviously, in England, in 1934, and she's been acting almost ever since. Her debut was made in 1952. The cause of death was not announced. However, she was diagnosed with Graves disease, an autoimmune disorder affecting the thyroid in 1988, and had defeated breast cancer in her 70s. So she was a tough old broad. You could quote me on that,
Starting point is 00:26:52 but we don't know what brought her down this time. But rest in peace to Maggie Smith, Professor Bagangakakal, from Harry Potter dead at the age of 89. Then we got news that Chris Christopherson died. Chris Christopherson. Oh, man, that guy was a legend. Dead at 88.
Starting point is 00:27:15 Just amazing. I loved him in my favorite scene with Chris Christopherson is he's in the Mel Gibson movie Payback. And he's the bad guy in Payback. And he is awesome. in that movie. I just, uh, just a stupid movie that, uh, I love Chris Christopherson in. So anyway, uh, very sad. I mean, the guy was a legend, a film star, a musician, uh, songwriter. Just, uh, really sad that, uh, Chris Christofferson has passed away. Uh, no cause of death was
Starting point is 00:27:48 given at Chris. Uh, as death, uh, he was 88. So, uh, rest in peace to Chris Christopherson, dead at the age of 88. Then John Ashton has died. John Ashton, just sad, dead at the age of 76. Now, you may remember John. He's been in all kinds of movies over the years. I mean, he's been acting for 50 years. But where he became a superstar was when he played the detective in Beverly Hills Cop,
Starting point is 00:28:24 John Taggart, the Beverly Hills Cop film. Eddie Murphy made this guy a superstar. So he died in Fort College, Colorado with his family. No cause of death was given immediately for John either. Nobody wants to say what they died of. But John was 76. Now, I will say this, in the last Beverly Hills cop movie, John looked, I mean, he really lost a whole bunch of weight,
Starting point is 00:28:52 really thin, and looked, you know, like there was something other than just weight loss eating at him. But I don't know that. I just, you know, he could have, you know, could have been an overdosing on Ozmpic. I don't know that. But John Ashton, you know him, you love him as Detective John Taggart in the Beverly Hills Cop movies dead at the age of 76. Then we have Drake Hogston, Drake Hoggiston, H-O-G-E-S-T-I-N. Don't pretend like you don't know who Drake Hogston is.
Starting point is 00:29:28 He's a longtime Days of Our Lives star, dead at the age of 70. Now, you would know Drake if you saw him. He's one of those guys. I mean, he played this character on Days of Our Lives. His name was John Black, and he did it for years and years and years. Apparently, he had pancreatic cancer. I seriously do not wish that on anyone. Very sad.
Starting point is 00:29:52 The actor Drake Hawxton, dead at the age of 70, rest in peace. and I'm sure I'm butchering his last name. So it's H-O-G-E-S-T-Y-N. Is it Drake Hoggiston or Drake Hodgiston? Honestly, I don't know, so I apologize. But rest and peace to Drake dead at the age of 70. Then we have Scott Simon. It's never ending today.
Starting point is 00:30:20 Scott Simon, a long-time Shahn-N-N-A keyboardist, dead at the age of 74. Wow. Now, they did say what killed Scott, well, and Drake as well. He died of sinus cancer. I must have will say that I did not know. I don't know that I've known anyone who has died of sinus cancer before. So Screamin' Scott Simon, a dynamic keyboard player for Shanana, dead at the age of 75, rest in peace.
Starting point is 00:31:00 I don't wish sinus cancer on anyone. I don't know if that comes from doing too much cocaine or if it's something else, I don't know. I don't know. I'm just saying that's what they said the man died from. So rest in peace to Scott Simon dead at the age of 75. Then we have Hassan Nazrallah. Hassan Nazrallah dead at the age of 64.
Starting point is 00:31:31 We do know what killed Hassan Nazrallah. It was striking involving 80 tons of bunker buster bombs, killing Nazrallah at a meeting of senior leaders from Hezbollah south of the Lebanese capital in Beirut. What a shame that the 64-year-old Nasrallah, who helmed the group for years as now dead. Darn the luck. Now, I will say this. Iran is not happy that the Hezbollah leader has been killed and said that his death will not go un avenged.
Starting point is 00:32:10 So we do have, you know, that to look forward to. And we also lost 37 al-Qaeda and ISIS-affiliated militants. including two senior operatives in air strikes in Syria recently as well. So darn the luck. I guess rest in peace to all those people because, you know, they're now dead. But it's tough for me. It's tough for me to tell terrorists to rest in peace. So I'll just say that Nassan Nazrallah.
Starting point is 00:32:48 No, it's not Nassan. It's Hassan. I apologize. Guys, Hassan Nasrallah, dead at the age of 64. The other 37 al-Qaeda and ISIS-affiliated militants, I don't know their ages or names. So, you know, they were just part of air strikes and they were where they shouldn't have been when they were there. Then, you know what else is dying is Schwann's? Schwann's delivery service, 72 years old.
Starting point is 00:33:16 They are shutting down. founded by Marvin Schwann in Marshall, Minnesota. And, I mean, it was a nation group to be a nationwide company. I, in fact, had Swans delivering to my home in Florida for some time. I love their products. I will say this. I don't remember them changing their name. Sometime in 2022, and this is a story that's part of chewing the fat, too.
Starting point is 00:33:38 So I may have talked about it. I just don't remember talking about it. They changed their name to Yella. I do kind of remember that. Y-E-L-O-H. And I feel like that was stupid. Which is why it's odd to me that I don't remember it because that is stupid. And I would have talked about how, you know, stupid that it was.
Starting point is 00:34:03 So they changed their name to yellow, or yellow, Y-E-L-O-H, because they felt it was, they needed the name change. Swans was iconic. people knew what Schwanz was. People didn't know what Yela was. So I guess it's over. They changed their name hoping to attract a larger customer base. Yeah, right. When you have an iconic name, go ahead and change it.
Starting point is 00:34:31 That will for sure increase your market share. So in December, 90 delivery centers across the U.S., we were told we're being shuttered. And we're being shuttered this summer. and now in western Wisconsin, the locations have ceased operations. And so, you know, they, oh, it's because of DoorDash and ship, uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:34:55 And now for sure they are ending operations. Yela is ending operations. The 176 workers in Minnesota are being laid off. And of course, they announced that it's with the heavy heart that we made the difficult decision to cease operations of Yela, said CEO, Bernardo. Santana. We are thankful to our many loyal customers and hardworking
Starting point is 00:35:18 employees for everything they have done to support us. Deeply grateful for our employees, tireless and bold efforts and our customer's dedication. It's been our utmost pleasure and honor to serve our customers their favorite meals and frozen treats. I've got a stuffed Schwant's truck around here somewhere.
Starting point is 00:35:35 I love it. I got it in a parade. I was a huge fan of Swans. I feel like I could have lent my services to Schwanz and turn this company around. I mean, it's heartbreaking to be that a great company like this that's been around for years is now closing its operations. I won't be able to get my Schwann's ice cream delivered direct to my home.
Starting point is 00:35:57 It's been a long time since I've used swans. And I used to see them on the road. I swear I don't remember them changing their names. I don't to yellow because that was just dumb. Just dumb. I'm pretty sure that since this time, they said they changed their name in 2022 to yellow. I don't remember seeing yellow trucks around.
Starting point is 00:36:16 Maybe that's because they just, even the people who own Schwanz here in Texas said, yeah, we're not calling ourselves yellow. We're just going to stop delivering. I don't know. I don't know, but rest in peace to Schwans, who has since named themselves yellow. I don't know that I want to say rest in peace to yellow,
Starting point is 00:36:36 because that's just dumb. They shouldn't have done that. Anyway, Schwans, no more Schwans. Very, very sad. Very, very sad. And just as a side note, not dead yet in our not dead yet segment, and I don't want him to die, but, you know, former president Jimmy Carter will turn 100 years old tomorrow, October 1st, 2024. So happy birthday to former president Jimmy Carter still hanging on at 100. With Amex Platinum, $400 in annual credits for travel and dining,

So I posted on X this weekend during the Alabama-Georgia college football game. College football is awesome. I mean, what a great weekend of college football this weekend.
Starting point is 00:37:48 There's been some great games. That Alabama-Georgia game was tremendous. The Miami-Defi-Mahs, Virginia Tech game was awesome. And Miami got, I mean, Virginia Tech got robbed. They should have won that game. But it was still a fun game to watch. I mean, there were great games to watch all around, all weekend long.
Starting point is 00:38:06 I love college football. I really do. Like, I like watching the NFL, and I love watching the games because I love football. But college football, man, is just fantastic. I really do. I just love college football. So we're back to Missouri. my team that my son played for that's why they're my team.
Starting point is 00:38:27 They're ranked ninth in the country, the new top 25. Poll came out yesterday with Missouri ranked number nine. They're back in the top 10. And then they play this weekend, Texas A&M, which they were ranked. Now, according to reports, they're tied for 25th in the rankings with UNLV, who is 4 and O. So we'll see if they still count as ranking, because they had not mentioned in the others receiving votes.
Starting point is 00:38:57 And so it's kind of weird. I'm not sure how we're going to, how we work that out, if they're going to count as being ranked or not. But there was some great football. And surprisingly, Indiana, Indiana, Indiana from the Big Ten is 5-0. Undefeated. And don't forget, you know, we talked about their coach coming from James Madison last year. and he had them, he put them on the map.
Starting point is 00:39:25 And everybody said, wow, why would he go to Indiana? I mean, that's kind of a low end. Still, it's a step up from James Madison, and it's in the Big Ten. And he's turned that program around. You talk about a great coach, man, Kurt Signetti, the head coach of Indiana. And the only person I know that played for Indiana was Ian Beckles,
Starting point is 00:39:46 who played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and then ended up on sports stations in the, the same building that I worked at for years. So, of course, I've got to text Ian saying, dude, you're an A Hoosiers, man, are 5'0. And he's like, yeah, I know they're on fire. He's all fired up. So the only person I know that went to Indiana.
Starting point is 00:40:05 And now that only person gets to cheer because his Hoosiers are doing great. So good for him. I mean, I love college football. No question about it. Just love college football. Congratulations also to the Chicago White Sox. I mean, Major League Baseball is now getting into the playoffs, which now we can start paying attention to Major League Baseball, I guess.
Starting point is 00:40:25 You know, we still have a little bit of time before they actually get into the big finals, but, you know, the playoffs are happening. I believe it starts, you know, soon, if not today. But the Chicago White Sox actually made history this weekend as they lost their 121st game of the season. So they are now a Major League Baseball team with the most losses. And no other team has lost more games. Although they claim here in 1899,
Starting point is 00:40:58 the Cleveland Spiders lost 134 games. I guess that's something to hang your hat on, but I don't know that that was a major league team. I think when you get to Major League Baseball since 1900, that's 121st is the worst team ever in Major League Baseball history. but, you know, if you're going to hang your hat on something, just know that in 1899, the Cleveland Spiders
Starting point is 00:41:26 lost 134 games. And, you know, we're talking about sports. I mean, hockey starts up this week. Hockey! Hockey starts up this week. We still have college football and NFL right in, I mean, in the heat of the battle. And we're going to have hockey start up.
Starting point is 00:41:44 We need to rethink that. That needs to be rethink. The hockey season is way too long. And then I talked about, the ratings for WNBA and I saw a report that talked about the game that Caitlin
Starting point is 00:41:58 Clark lost in game two of the playoff game against Connecticut Sun. They had the largest most watched at WNBA game ever. Right! And so it's going to be so fascinating
Starting point is 00:42:13 to see the numbers now that Caitlin is not in the playoffs. Yep, we hate her. Man, there's she suck. We can't stand to her. We don't like little white Caitlin Clark. But when we find out that nobody is watching the WNBA any longer because Caitlin's not in the playoffs, then maybe we'll sit down and have a little talk on, you know, maybe we do like Caitlin. Maybe we should be, I don't know, a little bit nicer to Caitlin. What do you think? All right, let's get out of here. I'll leave you with the joke of the day. This has made me laugh for days. And I should use
Starting point is 00:42:50 this on the Saturday show with Brad. Brad and I do Saturday morning live. You know, Brad Staggs over there on now is the name of his thing that he does. It's a Mojo in the morning, Mojo 5-0, Mojo.com, something like that. Brad Stags and Ron Phillips do their morning thing over there. Anyway, he, I save stuff like this for my Saturday morning live show and you can watch it on my ex account at Jeffrey J.F.R. I think he puts it up over there on Mojo too, but most importantly, just watch it on my ex. So this joke made me laugh because it's so true.
Starting point is 00:43:26 The wife and I have both made a list of five people who we can sleep with if we ever get the chance. And that's an odd recurring joke where couples say, oh, if I ever get the chance to, you know, have sex with this person. There's no way I can say no. And he said, my wife picked Johnny Depp, Hugh Jackman, Jason Momoa, Tom, Tom Hardy, Brad Pitt, which is, you know, that's a pretty strong list. And she goes, she is not happy with my choices. I picked her sister, her cousin, her best friend, our next door neighbor's wife, and the busty checkout chicken Woolworth.
Starting point is 00:44:09 Now, that's funny, because what he's trying to say is that, I mean, there's a better, how you understand. Stream and subscribe to more Blaze Media content at theblaze.com. slash podcasts.
