Starting point is 00:00:30 10 shocking stats about your stuff that will blow your mind. That's the headline. Let's see if it actually blows our mind or not. Or yours. We use only 20% of our clothes. The rest just sits in our closets. I would say that that probably is too high. We probably only use about 10% of our clothes.
Starting point is 00:00:53 Number two, my mind isn't blown yet. Number two, the average home has 300. thousand items. Most of them are rarely used. That, I believe. Just take a look at my garage. Number three, Americans spend $1.2 trillion annually on non-essential goods. Yeah, stuff we don't really need. Yeah, I buy that. No problem. Number four. Toys have increased by 500% in 50 years. Yet your kids play with just a few. Okay, yeah, I believe that. Number five.
Starting point is 00:01:36 I don't know that my mind is blown yet, though. Number five, only 9% of plastic waste is recycled. The rest ends up in landfills or oceans. Yeah, I believe that. Number, although, I don't know, that may be high, because this may be the same people that say there's the island, the continent of plastic out there in the ocean, which doesn't exist. Number six, storage units in the U.S. could fit every person in the country.
Starting point is 00:02:08 And it's still growing. Yeah, I believe that. Storage units is a good business to be in, man. I don't know about it anymore, but, boy, a few years ago, that was a good business to be in. Number seven, we throw away 81 pounds of clothing per person each year. Fast fashion is the hidden cost. Yeah, I don't know that we throw away 81 pounds of clothing per person each year, maybe. I got a lot of clothes that I haven't thrown away that gets you back to 20%
Starting point is 00:02:38 of clothes that you use, which I don't think is true, and I think it's less than that, but, you know, do we have a lot of clothing that we throw away? Yeah, I guess. Ask Goodwill. Number eight, electronic waste is growing three times faster than
Starting point is 00:02:54 any other type of waste. Ooh, old gadgets, pile up fast? Yeah, they sure do. I believe that. You know, I drove by something this morning that I thought, does that, that's got to be like a mob store or something. The sign on the, there's a store that I drive by every morning that says cell phone repair. Who repairs their cell phones? No one repairs their cell phone. That's got to be a front store for some kind of shady business. Has to be. Somebody should do an investigation on that. Number nine, a 24. 5% of people with two-car garages can't park in them.
Starting point is 00:03:32 I believe that. I remember the first house that I bought 100 years ago. I remember being so happy to have a garage, and I remember hanging the half of tennis ball down from the garage door opener so that I could pull my car in. And when the tennis ball hit the window, that's where I could stop, so I could park my car in the garage. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:57 That lasted for maybe a month. And then the garage was storage unit. And number 10, decluttering reduces stress. Okay, that doesn't shock me, but I believe that. It's just a matter of actually doing it. So 10 shocking stats about stuff that will blow your mind. Yeah, I think that was a false headline. Welcome!
Starting point is 00:04:22 Welcome to Chewing the Fat. Fat 5 Plus. So the State Department says that they take full responsibility for the confusion that this particular map had people all wound up. Apparently there was a big AIDS conference in Brazil and they presented a map of Africa at this global conference. and the map of Africa had every country in the wrong place. That is awesome. And it had an open AI insignia on it. So it was just AI not knowing where countries are.
Starting point is 00:05:28 That's great. Glad they were using that. So they had this map and they took full responsibility. The person who put it together, put this slide deck together, and it was hastily changed, and he didn't double-check the work. Yeah, no kidding. The map showed Nigeria, where the U.S. has several hundred troops deployed as landlock in the Sahara. Mozambique, which is in southeastern Africa, was relocated to the Horn of Africa,
Starting point is 00:06:00 while Ivory Coast in West Africa was placed on the other side of the continent. just incredible that our own State Department can't get things right. I mean, they've got what, one, two, three, four, five, six countries, Cameroon, Malawi, Coedivar, Uganda, and Mozambique and Nigeria, which I mentioned, all in the wrong place on the continent of Africa. Now, apparently the numbers are right. They talked about the money that they're giving to these countries for this AIDS, funding, which is kind of strange because I thought we were backing away from giving all this
Starting point is 00:06:40 money away, but not all of it. Apparently, not all of it. The AIDS relief or PEPFAR is still going on, which is good, I guess, since we're still committed to fighting AIDS in Africa. However, I thought that we were pausing funding for things like PEPFAR. Don't be silly. We're still going to be giving a lot of money to these places. But it would just be nice to have our own government, I don't know, be able to put the countries where they belong on the continent. Don't you think? Yeah, probably.
Starting point is 00:07:25 You know, speaking of countries around the world, the world's third smallest country just changed its name. So if you're planning on sending a postcard or something, make sure you get the name right. So the country, Nauru, N-A-U-R-U, has now changed its name to Nau-I-R-R-S-A-R-S-A-R-S-A-R-N-A-O-E-R is the pronunciation, but it's spelled N-A-O-E-O-E-R is the pronunciation, but it's spelled N-A-O-E-E-R-R-R is the pronunciation, but it's spelled N-A-O-E-R-O. But apparently they wanted to change their name and get back to their roots. It is a South Pacific Island nation, and it wants to get back to the traditional name. Apparently, it's known internationally as Nauru,
Starting point is 00:08:18 but the only reason it's named that way is because people couldn't pronounce Nauru, which is weird because it sounds like they probably could. but if you're looking to send a letter, the international code has now changed from N.R.U. Just letting you know, they decided that they wanted to change their name. They're the third smallest country population size after Tuvalu and Vatican City. So it was colonized by Germany and later administered by Australia before becoming a in the Independent Republic in 1968. So just know, if you're sending a letter to friends, family,
Starting point is 00:09:05 whatever, whoever you know in Nauru, it is not Nauru any longer. It is Nauero. Duh. I mean, it may be a cool place to visit, you know, if you had the money. Where are you going? I'm going to Nauero. You remember the country that used to be Nauru?
Starting point is 00:09:23 Yeah, they're not Nauru any longer. So if you hit the lotto, maybe you could travel there. So there was no winner. If you're listening live, today is the 5th of August, 2026. And there was no winner for the mega millions last night. So it goes up to 70 million for Friday's drawing, the next drawing for the mega millions. Only went up 10 million.
Starting point is 00:09:49 I thought with the new price tag, they raised the price for the tickets, and they were supposed to, you know, the jackpot was supposed to grow a lot. And it feels like it hasn't grown a lot. I feel like we talked about this the other day, too. It's really irking me that they're charging more money and we're not seeing the jackpots grow as much as they claimed it would. Huh. I mean, they lied to us to get more money? Weird.
Starting point is 00:10:15 Same with the power ball. Okay? So the power ball, we didn't have a winner. We do have a drawing tonight. Again, for those of you listening live, it's Wednesday, the 5th of August. The powerball drawing is the biggest this year. $786 million is the jackpot. $341.6 million is the cash payout.
Starting point is 00:10:37 But we were supposed to make dramatic changes because the powerball is now part of the United Kingdom. So only the jackpot is for everyone, the UK and the U.S. And the smaller amounts are separate. UK has a separate fund for that and you don't get the cash payout in the UK. But, you know, it's gone up 30 million, right? It was 748, something like that. So, okay, 30, a little 35 million.
Starting point is 00:11:09 And I thought it was supposed to go up a lot more than that. But it hasn't. So good luck at your chance for $786 million tonight. That would be sweet. I would visit, I will say this. And this is just, you know, between you and me. I would take a visit to now Eero. And if I hit that.
Starting point is 00:11:32 Because, you know, why not? Go to the third smallest country in the world? Yeah, we can stop in there. Well, I'll be darned. Apparently a non-disclosure agreement actually works. An NDA. We talked about, I don't know, a while ago, Howard Stern's former executive assistant.
Starting point is 00:12:05 suing Stern and the wife over her experiences working for for Stern and his wife at the house and she sued them she claimed that Stern fostered a hostile work environment which was allegedly created by an irresponsible and untenable animal rescue
Starting point is 00:12:29 organization run by Stern's wife So she was, I mean, I wanted to read. I did because I do believe that, but that's just me. So she was hired by Sirius XM in 2022 as an office manager for the Howard Stern show. The host production company 112 later added her to its payroll as Stern's executive assistant. Earlier this year, this is when we talked about her, she was terminated for calls. and presented with separation documents stating that she was subject to a 2022 confidentiality agreement and a 2025 non-disclosure agreement.
Starting point is 00:13:13 She declined to sign it, disputing their authenticity and enforceability and sued. Right. And the judge dismissed the lawsuit and said that in the court order was not voiding her non-disclosure. agreement at all. In the ruling, they found that the non-disclosure agreement was valid since she knowingly consented to its terms as part of her employment. Yeah, she didn't have to sign it. She began working there. When asked to review the document by a 112 employee, she wrote in an email, signed NDA attached. Oh, wow. So the document identifies Kuhn as a personal assistant, recites that the company relied upon her promises to safeguard confidential information in its decision to employ her.
Starting point is 00:14:10 Crane wrote in the order issued the noting that she was paid over $190,000 over the nine-month period. Wow. So her assertations that 112 accessed her computer to fabricate the email and forge her signature, the court denies. it and rejected it. Wow. So it worked. If you believe 112, accessed her computer and fabricated the email and forged her signature. Now, of course, I mean, that would mean that Howard Stern was a dirtbag and so is his wife. And who believes that? I mean, not me. Oh, man, that's no, no, no, no, no, no. I don't believe that. At all. She claimed again that she was wrongfully accused of misconduct. She said her firing was actually a result of immense pressure caused by an animal foster group operated by Stern's wife. So they were at the house and she is bringing in all these animals. Holy cow. I bet that sounds like fun. Of course, everyone is innocent until proven guilty. And the sterns have not been.
Starting point is 00:15:30 found guilty of anything. These were all just allegations from a jilted worker. So, you know, don't believe any of it. I'm sure they were fine to work for. Have you seen Spider-Man yet? I don't know. I'm ready to go see it. I think it's now earned over a billion
Starting point is 00:15:48 dollars globally in six days, which is a near record pace, only surpassed by Avengers End Games. Say that with me, yeah. They got a billion dollars already, Even though one theater claimed that it had to be cleared out during about halfway through the movie because someone had a, well, a gas leak. Apparently, they evacuated this theater because one or more of the audience members suffered from an extreme fart attack.
Starting point is 00:16:26 Now, I don't know that I believe it. But they certainly, there's pictures of people out in the lobby getting their money back. Even cosplay Spider-Man is out there. So the theater goers, you know, was some kind of big fart bomb. Filled the auditorium, and it was just the odor was so bad they had to flee their seats. Now, was it someone as actual body farts or was it, man-made, you know, was it a canned spray? Because the canned spray,
Starting point is 00:17:04 like the stink bomb spray, holy cow. That can really smell bad. But so could a human. So could a human. So hundreds of the people were evacuated into the hallway.
Starting point is 00:17:20 And they got their money back because they didn't catch the movie. The movie was like halfway through. And I guess they had to, you know, go back and, watch it again. So just know that if you go to the theater and someone has, someone has a farting attack, it won't be good. It seems like that's, I mean, I was trying to think if someone actually had a, you know, a huge gas attack in the,
Starting point is 00:17:51 you know, the big theater that you're in, would that make everyone in the theater go crazy? You'd have to be really bad. really bad because it's so open and why to be tough to do you know what try it and let me know even with the fart spray I mean an area yes the entire auditorium theater no I don't think I don't think it's true I don't think it's true but that's what they say so all right believe it or not Okay, so I watched the season one, I don't know, season three, episode one of the lioness. Um, the other day, I think this weekend, Sunday or Monday. And wow, is it good?
Starting point is 00:18:40 Uh, it's probably the best episode of Linus that I can remember. I have to go back. And, uh, there might have been, uh, there might have been, uh, a couple of episodes in season two. you know, a few episodes in season one that were really, really good. But this first episode of season three of Linus was really good. Just awesome. And it's talking, they go into Ukraine and Russia. And it's pretty crazy the warfare that's going on.
Starting point is 00:19:12 Well, I just read an interview from Zoe Saldana, who is, you know, one of the main stars in the Lioness. She is, in fact, the Lioness. and she talked about what it was like to work for Taylor Sheridan. And she said that the standards, you know, that Taylor gives you two sets of standards on his set. You have one of two choices. You either accept the challenge and make sure that you don't F up or you quit. I thought that was. I thought that was with every job, but I guess not.
Starting point is 00:19:55 It is in Taylor's world, though. And she said, I like being challenged. I really do. And she said that Sheridan continues to build one of television's biggest entertainment empires. Yeah, he definitely does that. So just incredible. She said that Taylor called her and said, hey, we're getting ready for season three. I just want to prepare you for the fifth.
Starting point is 00:20:21 physically demanding role that it's going to be here in season three. So he said, I definitely want you to build more muscle, and I want Joe to be just a machine. And so she said that she hired a private trainer and helped transform into a battle-hardened CIA operative before filming began. She did do that. And in fact, they show her working out at home during the episode. And Taylor's in it. Taylor plays a big role in it. I just, Taylor Sheridan, I got, you know, I hand it to hats off because not only are you acting in your shows, you're writing them, you're directing them, you're producing them, they're getting filmed either at your studios here in Fort Worth or your, or your ranches in Texas.
Starting point is 00:21:11 So you're making money that way too. I mean, holy cow. So whatever you're doing, you're doing right. but I really love the idea of what it's like to work for Taylor and you either accept the challenge and make sure that you don't F up or you quit. I mean, that sounds like that's a fun job because don't F up. Know your lines. We were told by actors for years and years ago,
Starting point is 00:21:40 the best way to keep a job and keep Hollywood asking you back is to show up and know your lines. Do your part and get out of there. So you either don't F up or you quit. And also, I do a show on Saturdays with Brad Staggs Saturday morning live. We do it live. Oh, that's why it's called Saturday morning live at 9 a.m. Central on my ex account at Jeffrey JFR. I know Brad, I think, puts it up on his ex account at real Bradstags is his ex account. And he's got his thing that he does on the Dailymojo.com.
Starting point is 00:24:59 That's what it's called. The Dailymojo.com. But no matter what. You need to listen to Saturday morning live on MyX account at Jeffrey JFR. Okay. Who died today? Who died today? Well, let's begin with Vernon Walton Alderton.
Starting point is 00:25:20 Vernon Walton Alderton dead at the age of 88. You knew him as Vernon Taylor. Now, he was a member of the Nighthawks, Virginia-based group in the 50s, And then he started scoring deals with dot records and sun records, where you knew him. The early recordings, Home of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and many other icons. He's in a lot of the Sun record retrospective films that you see. He was one, he did a lot of covers of Roy Orberton stuff. And he was Mr. Rock and Roll.
Starting point is 00:25:57 And he was appeared specifically when you watch the where rock and roll was. born the 100 years of Sam Phillips, he's definitely part of that. So he had some success over the years, and he shifted into the printing industry. So some success was just a little bit of success, but no money. So rest in peace to Vernon Taylor, a real name, Vernon Walton Alderton. dead at the age of 88. Then we have comedian Jimmy Cricket. Comedian Jimmy Cricket, dead at the age of 80.
Starting point is 00:26:45 Now, if you say to yourself, Jimmy Cricket, who is that? Believe me, he is a comedian, and he's one of those comedians that you would know if you sell him. When you see him, you go, oh, yeah, Jimmy Cricket. He's one of those, oh, yeah, that guy. He is one of those that guys. He was known for his clean and family-friendly brand of comedy, and you saw him. He hosted comedy series, Jimmy Cricket's team.
Starting point is 00:27:13 He was on radio. He was on TV. And he had a short illness, and he was surrounded by family. So he brought so much laughter and happiness to countless audiences in his career over the years, whether on stage, screen, or radio. If you met him in person as well. and you would know exactly who this person is if you saw him. Comedian Jimmy Cricket dead at the age of 80.
Starting point is 00:27:40 Then we have an unknown death. And I don't know how old this person is. This male is a content provider, so he's fairly young. And he was filming himself diving off a second floor balcony into a pool. and he filmed it all right, but as he dove off the second floor balcony, I'm sure probably, I don't know if he was under the influence of any substance.
Starting point is 00:28:09 It doesn't say that he was under the influence of anything. It just says that when you see him hit the side of the pool after he dove off, I mean, you see people dive into the pool all the time from second and third floors into pools, right? And he dove, he flipped over, he did a flip, And he flipped, he pushed himself too far out. And he hit the side of the pool.
Starting point is 00:28:34 Holy cow. And the slow motion is just ugly. And he had a fractured spine. Skull trauma. Yeah. Broken ribs pierced his lung. And he could not be, he could not be saved despite all the efforts at the hospital. Very, very sad.
Starting point is 00:28:54 So here's the thing, content creators. if you're going to jump. I just saw another video of another guy jumping off a cliff where he hit a rock, and it didn't give any of the outcome of that person, but I bet it's the same outcome as this guy. Because you don't do those flips and jumps off of things you don't know about.
Starting point is 00:29:15 And if you're a content creator and you're creating content that you think is so cool and you're jumping off the second floor, I'm going to do a flip into the pool, don't. I don't especially It looks really It looks the small
Starting point is 00:29:29 The pool looks small Comparatively speaking To the building It's not one of those big Hotel pools It's more of a I don't know Really small It looks like some backyard pool
Starting point is 00:29:41 And if this looks Doesn't look like a house though It does look like some sort of hotel So it's really Anyway just be careful That's my That's my You can take this with you
Starting point is 00:29:55 today. When you go out there and you're creating content, be careful. Okay? All right, good. All right, let's get out of here. I'll leave you with the joke of the day. Thanks for coming along for the ride today. I really appreciate it. It's good to see everyone again. Thank you. This is from the joke of the day today, from the King of the Dad joke calendar that I received as a gift, 2026. Why did the watch go on vacation? I don't know, Jeff. Why did the watch go on vacation? To unwind. See, because, yeah, no, you got it.
