Feel the fun with all the latest slots in live casino games and with no wagering requirements. What you win is yours to keep groovy. Hey, I won! Boarding will begin when passenger fisher is done celebrating.
Starting point is 00:00:22 19 plus Ontario only. Please play responsibly. Concerned by your gambling or that if someone close, you call 1866-3-3-1-2-60 or visit comex-octo.ca. Blaze Radio Network And now, chewing the fat with Jeff Fisher. Those of you that shop at Coles, and if you notice anything different, it's because their CEO just got fired. Five months after he was hired, Cole's chief executive, Ashley Buchanan,
Starting point is 00:00:48 was shown the door for this highly unusual deal in which he funneled business to his bidness partner. The investigation by the Retail Giants Board found that Buchanan directed the company to make a multi-million dollar consulting agreement with a vendor where the woman, former Bedbath and Beyonce, Shandra Holt, worked. So just a little bit, is helping you out a little bit, giving you a few million dollars. Buchanan reportedly did not disclose his relationship. Yeah, no kidding. And sales at Coles fell the last quarter.
Starting point is 00:01:26 so he was shown the door and given the boot. So if you notice the difference at Coles, that could be the reason. Have a nice day. Welcome. Welcome to chewing the fat. So Sean Diddy Combs. You know him, you love them, I guess. Formerly rejected the government's offer to plead guilty and spare himself the possibility of a prolonged prison sentence.
Starting point is 00:02:11 when the judge asked him whether he rejected the offer federal prosecutors made. Combs said, yes, I do, Your Honor. It was kind of talkative there in court. He's scheduled to stand trial with the trial beginning this coming Monday. If you're listening live, today is the 2nd of May 2025. So the trial would begin on the 5th and is going to begin on the 5th. The jury selection will happen then, and then he will be tried on charges of racketeering, conspiracy, sex trafficking, and prostitution that allege he coerced women into prolonged sexual encounters.
Starting point is 00:02:54 He called freakoffs. Now, I don't know how long he could get in jail, but I mean, he's 55 now. So if he's found guilty of all these charges, that's pretty much a life sentence for him. And so the specific details on the plea deal were not. released. But Sean says, no, we are, we're going to take this thing to trial. So maybe he's innocent. Yeah. Speaking of court cases, I'm not sure what all is going to come of this. But Apple, according to a judge, has violated an order to reform the app store. So Fortnite gets another victory dance. The federal judge ruled that Apple
Starting point is 00:03:40 willfully chose not to comply with an antitrust ruling when it won by Epic Games that required changes to fees connected with the App Store, said the company executive had lied under oath. The judge also referred the matter to prosecutors for a criminal contempt investigation. And it wasn't today's only big tech antitrust news. I mean, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai testified yesterday that the U.S. proposal requiring data sharing with competitors to punish Google for an illegal monopoly on online search would be extraordinary and would amount to a de facto divestiture of search. Okay.
Starting point is 00:04:25 So good luck, God bless to all of those. You know, we have, they're all, I mean, meta and Instagram is in trouble. Zuckerberg testified. And then there were other, there was more testimony that talked about, how they had known about the apps algorithms and how he had cheated all these people out of millions of dollars. So we'll see. Things are not going well for these big tech companies.
Starting point is 00:04:53 Microsoft raised prices on Xbox consoles, games, and controllers worldwide. So they got that going for you. And this is kind of sad news, actually. Grand Theft Auto 6. I know. Dry your eyes here. they have announced the Rockstar games has announced that GTA 6 is not sex although that's what it is a GTA 6 is now set to release on May 26 so it's delayed it's come on several months later than
Starting point is 00:05:26 expected when I say May 26 oh you thought I meant this year yeah no next year so you're looking forward to Grand Theft Auto sex or six you're not going to be able to get it until May of 2026. I know, like I said, dry your eyes. And I guess we're supposed to be scared. But the measles outbreak in America continues. Apparently there's 935 confirmed cases of measles across nearly 30 states so far this year. That's according to the latest update from the CDC.
Starting point is 00:06:03 That's an increase of 51. over the last week and far surpassing the 285 measles cases reported in the entirety of last year. So I guess we're supposed to be scared. They certainly make it seem that way. The Texas Department of State Health Services reported that its measles cases, which date back to late January, had grown to 663 cases as of earlier this week, making a jump of 17 cases since the state's last update as 87 of the patients have been hospitalized and two school-age children have been confirmed dead from the illness.
Starting point is 00:06:47 That's very sad. I don't know that those school-aged children were actually killed by measles. But, okay, if you tell me they were, then they were. I know here in North Texas, where this show originates, Denton County has confirmed one case of the measles, and they say the infected person could, could have exposed others at a number of places on the 19th and 20th of April,
Starting point is 00:07:21 so 10 days ago, if you're listening live. And this is an adult, and we don't know who the adult is, because they want to protect the patient's confidentiality. Uh-huh. but they did do some great contact tracing because of it. So they list all the places that this person went to on the 19th and the 20th of April. So if you were in North Texas in Denton County,
Starting point is 00:07:48 or actually the DFW area because all these places they went are not specific to Denton County, the pretty burrito, the donut plaza, the Rangers Republic of Texas Live Global Life Field, Wow, they went to a baseball game. How many people could have been infected there? Guitars and Growlers, Walmart in Louisville, Texas. Then the next day they went to a United Methodist Church in Flower Mound, Texas.
Starting point is 00:08:17 Winco Foods in Louisville. Then they went to another restaurant in Richardson. They were just busy infecting people everywhere. So be careful out there. And it's not really clear if the person had been infected has been vaccinated. has been vaccinated. So we just don't know. And we know that measles are highly contagious
Starting point is 00:08:38 and they say here that nine out of ten people nearby will become infected if they are not protected. Ah, see, that's cute. See what they did there? Infected, if not protected. Man, the days of just, yeah, I got the measles and I can't do anything for a couple of days
Starting point is 00:09:04 until it goes away are over. They want us scared out of our minds over measles. I'm not. So I'm sorry about that, but I'm just not scared of measles. If your child catches measles, you know, for sure take it to your medical professionals. You don't want anything bad happening to your kid.
Starting point is 00:09:30 But, you know, I think you'll be okay. I think you'll be okay. But, you know, we don't know if, you know, you are going to be infected if you're not protected. We do know. We do know that. You will be infected. Well, maybe.
Starting point is 00:09:48 Maybe you will be infected if you're not protected. Sheesh. With AMX Platinum, $400 in annual credits for travel and dining means you not only satisfy your travel bug. And you know, we've got a new show coming to Blaze TV by Nicole Shanahan, back to the people. We're going to launch her new show very soon.
Starting point is 00:12:21 Nicole's a Silicon Valley attorney, entrepreneur, advocate who spent years fighting for transparency, freedom, and real change. She's been a major voice in the Maha movement and worked alongside Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to push for a government that actually works for the people, not the elites. Nicole's journey doesn't stop there. After years in the tech world, she experienced a powerful personal transformation that led her to rediscover a deep connection to her faith
Starting point is 00:12:48 that brings new perspective and shapes everything she's going to do now. So a brand new show, back to the people. She's going to dig into conversations, mainstream media ignores, brings together experts, activists, and everyday people to tackle the tough issues, untold stories,
Starting point is 00:13:05 and find real solutions rooted in in truth and humanity. So you can get a sneak peek of Nicole before she hits Blaze TV on her YouTube at Nicole Shanahan. YouTube.com slash Nicole Shanahan. You just type it in the search engine. You'll be fine. You'll find her. Nicole Shanahan.
Starting point is 00:13:24 Welcome Nicole Shanahan to Blaze TV. Congratulations are in order to Barbara Streisand. Babs. You know her. You love her. Eight-time Grammy winner. five-time billboard hot 100 topper she has announced a brand new studio album and man are i don't know about you but i am excited the secret life partners volume two now volume one i came out in 2014 and i've just been
Starting point is 00:13:57 i barely stand it that has taken this long to get a sequel to this but it is it's coming out on june 27 It's going to feature collaborations with Sir Paul McCartney. I hate calling him, sir. Stop it. It's Paul McCartney. Mariah Carey, Bob Dylan, Ariana Grande, Sting, James Taylor, and so much more. In fact, she does a duet with Hozier that you can already listen to. It's from Roberta Flack.
Starting point is 00:14:28 First time ever I saw your face. That's a little bit different than what Barbara sounds like, but, you know, the song. And so I'm really looking forward to that. I can't wait. And, man, do I want more of Babs? Do you know that in 2014, when Partners, you know, one was released, that made her the only artist to have a number one album in six different decades. So this new project also features the cross-generational list of duet partners. But that is incredible that Barbara Streisand has had a number one album in six different decades.
Starting point is 00:15:18 So if this one goes to number one, that'll make it seven. Wow. So many things going on this weekend. And one of them is you're going to be able to see the movie Rust. It's finally coming to theaters. Three years after the, you know, accidental, accidental onset tragedy took the life of cinematographer Helena Hutchins. How did that happen, by the way?
Starting point is 00:15:45 Alec Baldwin. You know, he's the one that fired the weapon accidentally. He's the producer and the co-writer. And he stars as Harland Russ. It's going to be, I'm fascinated to see the movie, I'm not going to pay for it at theaters. Now, it's also going to be available streaming so you'll be able to get it on Prime Video
Starting point is 00:16:08 and Apple TV for $14.99. I'm not paying for that either. I already, you know, I pay for Prime Video. I do pay for Apple TV, although I'm told that we get it for free because it's part of our cell phone deal. That's great. I only have to pay $8 million a month for my cell phone, but we're giving Apple TV for free.
Starting point is 00:16:29 Okay, thank you. So anyway, you have that to go to if you didn't want to do anything else this weekend. You know, like the Kentucky Derby, like Naked Gardening Day is tomorrow. So the Kentucky Derby is tomorrow as well. I am looking forward to that. I do like watching the Kentucky Derby. Always kind of wanted to go. Never have been.
Starting point is 00:16:52 It would be fun to have experienced the event. So it starts at 7.02 p.m. Eastern Saturday, the 3rd of May, 2025 and I'm sure they're going to have coverage beginning, you know, early in the afternoon because 702 Eastern is start time. So that means they're going to have at least four hours of coverage before then because they love showing off all the horses. And I kind of like seeing them. The Derby, the Kentucky Derby, it was first run in 1875. So it's the oldest continuously held sporting event and the first leg obviously of the, you know, triple crown. And the winner, winning horse gets 3 million.
Starting point is 00:17:31 The racing purse is 5 million. Yeah, I mean, the rest of you get to split up to 5 million, but I'm the winner. I'm taking home 3 million. The two front runners are journalism and sandban. And there's a couple of big long shots, 57 to 1, this neocross. And Beza is the 50 to 1 longest shot. So, you know, good luck. You can make a little money.
Starting point is 00:17:54 If you can gamble on the horse race in your state, I can't in the state of Texas. Um, good luck. And plus this also has, uh, the horse, uh, rendered judgment, which is owned, uh, by this dream walk and farms, which was run by Toby Keith, the late, great Toby Keith. So we've got that kind of, you know, sentimental version for rendered judgment, although render judgment is 13 to 1. Good luck. It's possible though. Definitely possible. And so we got that to look forward to. And, uh, And what's his face is back this year, too? You know, Baffet, Bob Baffett. He's back.
Starting point is 00:18:37 He's with Rodriguez, which is 12 to 1, and he's looking for a seventh derby win. Okay, I mean, I spent a three-year suspension for Bob. Hope he didn't rub any cream on the old horse by accident. All right, let's go to the break room. I need something cold to drink desperately. So Los Angeles. is joining the state of California trying to get the movies
Starting point is 00:19:08 and TV shows back to filming in California and L.A. The Los Angeles City Council unanimously approved a measure to make its film-permitting process less of a headache. Oh yeah, we're going to cut some of the red tape. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:19:23 The plan aims to slash the fees, offer location discounts, and, yes, of course, cut red tape. Addressing some of the reasons productions are packing up their bags. The motion passed to actual applause in City Hall, which is a rarity unless someone's giving away free parking. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:19:41 L.A.'s seen a steep decline in what they call tent pole film production, and now even commercials and TV projects are slipping away. And Governor Newsom, of course, has a proposal out there for the state to up the film tax credit to $750. $50 million. So we'll see if that actually takes place. But he definitely wants to bring it back to California. And, of course, L.A. wants to have it back in L.A. as well.
Starting point is 00:20:11 So good luck to California. I feel like that's not going to help. But I could be wrong. I could be wrong. And then I saw that, speaking of movies and making movies, apparently there's going to be a horror overload to hit theaters next year. Oh, the horror. I know.
Starting point is 00:20:31 Studios are cramming an unprecedented 29 horror films into theaters this year. This year, which means, you know, that's 2025. Next, so into this, oh, wait. Yeah, so this whole year. Yeah. Not 2026. Sorry, it's this year. Holy cow.
Starting point is 00:20:53 So we're going to have 29 horror films in theaters this year. That's wonderful. I was thinking that it was next year. Duh. Universal alone is planning seven titles. Apparently, their return on investment is great. They love them. You know, the quiet place, day one, generated 83 million a net profit. Long legs turned to budget under $10 million into $48 million profit.
Starting point is 00:21:18 Wow, until dawn opened to an $8 million domestically. But they were, you know, so what? The sinners stands as the loan breakout hit this year. So it's a crowded slate, but you've got the conjuring final destination, 28 years later. Okay. All right, fine. Those are all launching their trilogies. All right.
Starting point is 00:21:44 So are they going to, does that mean they're going to start cannibalizing their own genre? I don't know. We'll see. People love horror movies. And so I know, you know, to the people that make them, it's a safe investment, it doesn't cost a lot of money. And the return on investment is. awesome. So, okay,
Starting point is 00:22:03 depend the rest of this year. Today, like I said, if you're listing live is the 2nd of May 2025. So you, if you thought there were a lot of horror movies already, there is more coming. So be ready for that. I did see about Jeremy Renner, who, you know, I haven't seen Jeremy around lately. And he apparently turned down Hawkeye Season 2. They offered him half the money that he was paid for season one salary.
Starting point is 00:22:35 And Jeremy was like, did you think I was only half the Jeremy because I got ran over? I'm not doing it unless you're going to pay me the money. So Hawkeye, season two, not happening. And at the same time, Robert Downey Jr. apparently signed a huge deal to return as Dr. Doom. I don't know, they paid him a nine-figure sum to return as Dr. Doom. And, you know, I'm not saying Hawkeye is Dr. Doom, but still, they're going to play them the nine-figure sum.
Starting point is 00:23:11 And then he's going to, they're going to buy him a plane, and he's going to have 24-7 security. So, yeah, I'll come and do your movie. Sure, you got it. You got it. It's going to have to be nine figures. and I need a plane. And I need security.
Starting point is 00:23:27 Oh, okay, Robert, no problem. We'll do that for you. So congratulations to Robert Downey Jr. For getting that deal. And yesterday we talked a little bit about the Tony Awards, the nominations. And I failed to mention that Audra McDonald now,
Starting point is 00:23:40 and I, you know, Audrey McDonald, you know where you love her, has become the most Tony nominated performer in history now, securing her 11th career nomination on Thursday. She previously shared,
Starting point is 00:23:52 the top spot with the late Julie Harris and West Side Story star Cheetah Rivera. So she earned a nomination for a leading actress in a musical for her performance as Rose, an obsessive 1920's stage mother in the revival of Gypsy, and she is the first black woman to play the
Starting point is 00:24:10 role in a Broadway production. So congratulations to Audre McDonald for becoming the most Tony nominated a performer in history. It's a lot of It's hockey season, and you can get anything you need delivered with Uber Eats. Well, almost, almost anything.
Starting point is 00:24:41 So no, you can't get a nice rink on Uber Eats. But iced tea, ice cream, or just plain old ice? Yes, we deliver those. Goaltenders, no. But chicken tenders, yes. Because those are groceries, and we deliver those too. Along with your favorite restaurant food, alcohol, and other everyday essentials. Order Uber Eats now.

Starting point is 00:26:18 And you can obviously go back and watch it at your leisure after that. But, I mean, really be there live if you want. Okay? All right. Who died today? Who died today? I'm telling you a long list today. At least it felt like a long list.
Starting point is 00:26:36 We'll see. Ruth Buzzy. Ruth Buzzy. Wow. I mean, she, we remember her. She was one of the stars of Rowan and Martin's laughing. And it was just Ruth Buzzy and hers being the old lady on the park bench with slamming people with newspapers. She has passed away at the age of 88.
Starting point is 00:26:57 Ruth Buzzy. She had died from complications from Alzheimer's disease at her home in. Texas. Very sad. I guess she's been in hospice for several years. She had a bad stroke a couple years ago. Just really sad. Ruth Buzzy, rest in peace, dead at the age of 88. Then we have Sister Inna Canberra Lucas. I'm sorry, what? Yes, Sister Inna Canabara Lucas. She was recognized as the oldest person in the world.
Starting point is 00:27:30 She passed away at the age of 116 years old in Brazil. Now, rest in peace, to Sister Inacanabara Lucas. The new, apparently oldest person in the world, is this British citizen lady, Ethel Catterham, who is 115 years old. So congratulations to the newest, oldest person in... the world. And apparently there's, uh, she is the oldest currently in the world at 115. So rest in peace to sister in a Canabara Lucas, uh, formerly the oldest person in the world,
Starting point is 00:28:15 uh, dead at the age of 116. Then we have two-time Stanley Cup champion, former Philadelphia Flyers captain, part of the, uh, what the heck did they call themselves? The, uh, um shoot uh he was anyway he's dead i know yeah the broad street bullies that's what he's part of i mean he was not uh he was a rough player and uh he played nine of his 11 seasons with the flyers and then he was a broadcaster uh ed van imp dead at the age of 84 uh he was a tv broadcaster for a long time it doesn't give a cause of death for ed but it does say that he was surrounded by his family at his side. So, I mean, probably he's been sick. So rest in peace to Ed Van Hemp, dead at the age of 84. Then Jill Sobel, a singer, songwriter. Remember her hits?
Starting point is 00:29:18 I kissed a girl and a supermodel from the clueless soundtrack. She has passed away at the age of 66. She, very sad, died in a house fire. Man, I do not wish that on anyone. Now, I don't want to wish any of these diseases on people, but I don't want anyone to die in a house fire. That is a heck of a way to go. I just don't I just don't want that. I have a family member a long time ago that died
Starting point is 00:29:42 in a house fire, and I didn't wish that for him either. So rest in peace to Jill Sobel, dead at the age of 66. Then we have William Bill Dealey. William Bill Dealey, dead at the age of 75.
Starting point is 00:30:05 Bill was the former president and handler of Paxentani Phil. And part of he was the president of Paxatani Groundhog Club. So it's very sad that Bill has left us. He didn't give a cause of death for Bill. It did say that aside from being a former president and handler of Paxon, Santani Phil and being part of the, you know, the Punxatani group. He also owned and directed the Dealey funeral home. So I guess that's where you can go and pay your condolences.
Starting point is 00:30:46 Rest and peace to William Bill Dealey dead at the age of 75. I was reading a story about Michael Bolton. Now, Michael Bolton, I mean, this guy, I mean, 75 million records, two Grammys, 50-year career. And remember he had emergency brain surgery back in 2023. And he apparently was singing within minutes. His daughter said that I remember one of the nurses at the hospital had no idea who he was. And she's like, do you know he sings like this?
Starting point is 00:31:22 Yeah, he does. Hello, that's Michael Bolton. So he's still struggling with that. amazing. He's still doing well. So he went underwent this emergency surgery in in New York City. And he had now then in 2024, he underwent a second brain surgery, which I think we talked about due to an infection. And he's now finished radiation and chemotherapy treatment. And he undergoes two MRIs every month to ensure his tumor has now returned. He has a glial blastoma, and that recurrence rate is 90%.
Starting point is 00:32:02 So if you're a fan of Michael Bolton, you will take your prayers because it's going to be a fight for him. And it has been a fight for quite some time. And so he said, you know, he's remaining hopeful. And he just reminds himself that he's not alone. And he's just trying to get better every day. So there you have it. all you Michael Bolton fans. And is he going to be touring again?
Starting point is 00:32:32 I guess that probably isn't going to happen. This episode is brought to you by Peloton. A new era of fitness is here. Introducing the new Peloton Cross Training Tread Plus, powered by Peloton IQ, built for breakthroughs with personalized workout plans, real-time insights, and endless ways to move. Lift with confidence, while Peloton IQ counts ready.
Starting point is 00:33:09 steps, corrects form, and tracks your progress. Let yourself run, lift, flow, and go. Explore the new Peloton Cross-Training Treadplus at OnePeloton.ca. I don't know that it makes a difference, but it's a headline, Chef Boy R.D. The company that owns them now, this Chicago-based Conagra, they bought Chef Boy R.D. back in 2000, and they are now selling Chef Boy R.D.
Starting point is 00:33:38 I mean, it's a historic brand to a private equity firm Brinwood Partners or Brinwood Partners, B-R-Y-N-W-O-D partners. It's not finalized yet, but apparently it's going to be for about $600 million.
Starting point is 00:33:54 Hector-Ithore Hector Baudi launched the pasta sauce with his brothers in 1928. And after running a popular restaurant in Cleveland, the brand played a key role in introducing Italian food to the U.S. challenging the prevalence of French cuisine.
Starting point is 00:34:12 So Chef Boyardee was once the U.S. number one importer of Parmesan cheese at the company's height. Its Pennsylvania factory produced 250,000 sauce cans a day. Wow. So Conagher is getting rid of Chef Boyardee because they want to focus on frozen food and snack portfolios, including protein-heavy slim gym meat sticks. Yeah, you can't have enough of those. So apparently sales are slowing down. And they launched the GLP1 friendly labels to market products to customers losing weight using the weight loss drugs.
Starting point is 00:34:51 Yeah. Why not? Let's do that for sure. I saw a headline that made me think, yeah, those drugs are really working. Apparently, diabetes is way down. so good, right? And it's got to be because of that, or at least it's got to be because more and more people are, you know,
Starting point is 00:35:13 taking care of their weight, right? They claim that diabetes deaths fell to their lowest level in years. New CDC data finds in 2021 the condition was the eighth leading cause of death in the U.S. But now it's the lowest it's been in years. Good. And it's got to be. because of that, right? I mean, it just has to be.
Starting point is 00:35:39 I don't know that the CDC would admit that. You know, the CDC says the link between COVID-19 and diabetes may be to blame for it peaking a few years ago. Okay, so what's to blame for the numbers going way down? Oh, it doesn't say that? Okay. I would say that OZEPIC and Mongero are helping with that. That's going to help with diabetes death.
Starting point is 00:36:08 So good. I mean, in 2023, nearly one in 10 adults had diagnosed diabetes. Okay. So it's got to be everyone on Ozempic and Mongero. That doesn't mean it's good for everyone. It doesn't mean that everyone, even if you don't have diabetes, should be on Ozempic or Mongero or the GLP drugs. But it does mean that it's actually affecting what it's supposed to affect.
Starting point is 00:36:34 and that is taking care of diabetes, right? Right. Okay, this story, one more story before we get out of here with the joke of the day. I got to do this story because I can't believe this is actually true, all right? I can't believe this is actually true. So according to this, this Kelsey Whitmore is now the first woman ever to join a MLB roster. Well, like women to play Major League Baseball? That can't be true, can't it?
Starting point is 00:37:08 Now, she's playing in the minor leagues. Okay, fine. We'll let you play in the minor leagues. But we're not letting men play in major league baseball, are we? Apparently we are. Apparently, according to this, the Oakland A's have officially called up pitcher outfielder Kelsey Whitmore from the Oakland ballers,
Starting point is 00:37:26 which is, you know, one of their minor league teams, making her the first woman ever to join a major league baseball roster. So if that's true, congratulations. If it's not true, I can't believe we're spreading lies like this, making me doubt that only men play baseball. But, you know, whatever, that's fine. I got you.
Starting point is 00:37:48 You know, I already congratulated you. So congratulations again. All right, let's get out of here. Man, it's been a long week.
