All right.
So while Jeff is still out, he should be back on Monday, hopefully.
The surgery he had, everything went good, but we're not here for that.
We're here on this Saturday weekend because I found this TV show.
So fascinating.
I had to get someone on.
So we're going to talk a little bit about entertainment.
And since Saturdays, it's about living your American dream.
I think this is every millennial's dream to live at a house or an apartment complex or something for free.
And all you have to do is play some games and play and follow some rules.
Everything gets delivered to you.
I think that's literally every single millennial outdoor dream is.
It's perfect.
And I wish I could be good at this intro, like Jeffie does it all the time.
Welcome to it.
And this is Chew and the Fad with Jeff Fischer, but not really.
I'm the producer for this show.
And like I said, Jeffrey's still in the hospital.
He came home yesterday, Friday.
But today's Saturday, I figured since you guys have not heard from us the entire week,
I figured, hey, let's do an episode, this episode, I want to call it.
The Circle meets Chewing the Fat
because that's literally
I cannot come up with anything else.
But what is Chewing the Fat?
Well, Chewendo Fy is a podcast with a fat guy.
Actually, two fat guys.
We just love talking entertainment
and a little bit of politics,
but mostly entertainment about the royal family,
about what is happening on TV,
especially when new TV shows come down
and we need to tell you that you got to go watch it.
So right now, everybody had to stop listening.
Go to Netflix, watch The Circle on Netflix,
and then come back to it and then finish this podcast.
Or listen to the podcast.
We're going to go through spoilers.
You all know this,
that here in the program, we go spoilers.
So, what is the circle?
Well, the circle is an uninscripted UK sensation
that Netflix decided in 2018 to say,
we're going to do this here because we believe that that's how TV works.
Usually, you know, it's like the UK, the office meets, you know,
the American.
conversion of the office. But what is the whole premise of this show? I'm going to play a little bit of
the trailer because it's literally I love it. Circle, can I see Alana's profile? I'm a full-time model.
No. On social media, you can be anyone.
Let me think about it. Games begin. And say anything. Okay, okay, let me think. So who would you be?
If $100,000 was on the line.
Welcome to the Circle.
What's up, Circle?
A new social experiment where players don't meet face-to-face.
What?
They only communicate through the Circle.
Circle. Circle?
Circle?
Take me to my profile.
Oh, man.
This is better than Christmas.
But what happens next?
My game plan is just to be myself.
Must be seen to be believed.
A new player has joined the Circle.
The new queens came out with claws.
I hope you all you say you are, because I'm not.
No way.
In the circle, I'll be playing my girlfriend, Rebecca.
This is nuts!
Here we go, honey.
And nothing is off limits.
My crazy cramps get really bad.
What?
Get ready for surprising twists.
There's one thing that I have been keeping from you.
Whoa, here is a photo of the real me.
What?
Shocking reveals.
She's been blocked from the Circle.
Before I leave, she can meet one player.
Hello!
And all the drama.
The biggest risk that anyone can take is to be yourself.
Somebody's dream is about to end.
I could really be going home right now.
We've got a pixel on the block.
This game will turn you inside out.
The Circle has no chill.
This is trying to get ugly.
I love it.
The Circle.
A must-see three-week event.
It's gonna be real juicy.
I hope y'all got a cut.
Only on Netflix.
And it is juicy, as you can see it.
But I want to talk today to Sammy.
Now, Sammy, correct me if I'm wrong,
but it's to my knowledge that you were voted the fan most favorite.
Yes, they just did that today at 1 p.m. Eastern Times.
Wow.
They just released and Michelle released it on the Circle, Instagram Live.
I'm going to be true.
I did not vote for you, but not because you're not my favorite.
It's because I love Shubi.
Shuby became really close to my heart and I was like that little guy his innocence
probably helped him a lot and I was like I got to go for Shubi man he he but I'm happy that you
want it because when we'll get to this when you were in the top three I was like there's no one
else that you deserve being on the top three then you Joey and Shubby I was watching with
a wife and it became our thing and I was like we need to watch this all through but we'll get
to it. So, Sammy, after spending some time in the circle, did you, were you a big social media person?
No, I wouldn't say like a huge social media person, but I would use social media.
Okay.
But it wasn't like my main focus of my life.
So after this show, what do you think about social media now?
I mean, I feel the same, I guess. I mean, I'm looking at it at it first.
from a different standpoint now simply because my social media has exploded and reached limits
that I didn't even think it would reach.
So now it's different.
Like now I can actually do something with social media.
I can make income off of it.
And realistically, if I do it the right way, not really ever have to work a real job ever again,
which is crazy.
It is.
You know, like 25 years old to be in that kind of position and to get so much recognition
from so many people.
So it's definitely a different outlook.
but I'm still working my 9 to 5 jobs,
still getting my master's degree,
like still focusing on...
Yeah, so let's talk about that.
So you work with kids, correct?
Yeah, I work with children.
I wouldn't say...
So I've been...
Lately I've been telling people
it's with autism,
but I have worked with children
of all diagnosis.
And yeah, my kids are all different ages
depending on what cases I get
and what the problem behaviors may be
or whatever the...
So this is behavior issues?
Yeah, so I'm a behavior tech.
That's like my title.
Okay.
Is that your master's on as well?
My master's, I'm going to be, is in behavior analysis where I would become a supervisor.
That's awesome.
So you were in the circle.
You spent three weeks in apartment complex in Manchester, England, from August to September.
It was Shuby, Seaburn, aka Rebecca, Sammy, Chris, Joey, and Mercedes, and I forgot her name.
What was her real name?
Oh.
Karen?
Yes, Karen.
And then the other guy that I did not like, I was like,
you're playing this game way too much.
And you're trying too much.
But you guys were, the base core that I like was Shubi, Rebecca, Casey, Burn, Sammy,
Chris, and Jerry.
How was it going into this game?
What did you know about the game?
Other than because I believe they played you guys the UK version trailer.
So did you know anything else about this game?
No, I knew absolutely not.
nothing, like absolutely nothing.
The only thing I knew was from just Googling it.
Like, I googled the UK Circle and the season one.
And it brought up like a short clip, but that was it.
It's like we can't, since it was in the UK, we can't stream any shows here.
Yeah.
But at least, I didn't know how.
So, yeah, I only saw like a short, like maybe one minute clip on YouTube.
I'm going to help you.
It's called a VPN.
You get a VPN.
You can watch anything in the world.
Oh, really?
Yeah, girl.
You get a VPN and you can watch anything.
So how would you describe the circle?
Because this is how I describe the circle.
I describe the circle as Big Brother, the game show, meets Catfish, the MTV show.
Well, I've never seen Big Brothers, so I have no idea.
Everyone keeps, like...
Dude, you're missing out.
You know, putting them together.
But I've never seen it.
Okay.
And I wouldn't say it's like Catfish, really, because we're not, like...
I feel like Catfish is all about relationships.
We didn't go in there.
Like, it wasn't a dating show.
It's not a relationship show.
Except for Alex.
Alice went in there looking for a relationship, aka Adam.
Yeah, well, Adam went in there, not Alex.
Alex's in a very happy 11-year relationship.
Yes.
So maybe Adam, but I think he did a great job being in Catfish.
Oh, he did, he did, he did.
Yeah, but yeah, I wouldn't really know how to, like, how to compare it to a show.
But when I would explain this to people, I would just say it's basically a social experiment where you only communicate through an app that's made specifically for the show.
And we all live in separate apartments.
We never see each other.
We never talk to each other in real life like face to face.
You can't hear.
You can't see nothing.
And that's it.
And you have to choose who you like out of just knowing them through pictures and words.
Speaking of the circle, the social media network that, you know, the show uses, how known was it to say, send message?
or was it becoming just like second nature?
Honestly, it's like a second nature when you're doing it so much.
The first day was hard getting used to it.
But after that, like after the first day when you get used to it,
you don't even think about it.
The first...
It's like putting the period at the end of a sentence.
You don't even think about it anymore.
So the first rating,
how difficult was it to rate those people that were in the circle
without knowing them at all other than what you read on their bio
and what they put forward?
it was so hard so hard like I mean so are you talking about the first time I'd had to do it the first time yes the first time you had to do it yeah it was tough because I didn't know anybody like and I'm very big on you know I was never that kind of person I just didn't like somebody when I didn't even know them you know if I got to know somebody then that's when I would feel like I could make a decision but I can't just not like somebody just because or you know and I felt like that's what it kind of had to be like okay well who do you
not like here out of everybody that's here like who do you want to send home who do you not like
and it was tough and you know it's hard to send people home when you literally have no idea who they
are so there was a couple of catfishes during the show and my my question because you know
we're seeing it as the audience perspective of like come on dude seaburn he's a girl i mean seaburn
you know it's a dude he's not rebecca but from your entire experience of the three weeks that
you were there were your catfish uh people that you thought were catfish were there catfish and
then the people you thought were real, we're real?
Or you were like, I don't know, really.
I just want to finish this game.
Yeah, no, I didn't, to be honest, I didn't go in there with a strategy at all.
And I didn't, you know, I didn't, like the money part of it was never really in my mind.
Really?
Yeah, I don't know why.
I'm just such a, like, when it comes to talking to people and, like, wanting to get to know people
and learn about their lives and things like that, I like to actually pay attention.
So at some point, I would forget about the money.
And I don't know how that is for the rest of the cast.
I've actually never brought that up to them.
But I would love to think, like, how they thought about
because sometimes we would be doing certain things and, like,
having real conversations or doing the ratings.
And, like, I would never thought, like, let me be tactical.
I was never, like, a game player, I guess.
Yeah, as a person that, yeah, as a person that watched Big Brother,
and I was trying to, I was looking, I was like, okay,
so what could be a good strategy to win this game?
But there really can be, you know, Shubi, you know, he explained it well.
It's like, be yourself.
And I honestly believe that when you, Joey, and Shubi and Chris, of course, you guys were being yourself.
I think that's why you guys were, you know, on the top.
At the top.
Yeah, for sure.
I think that's played a big role.
Whenever you came into the circle, did you ever think, you know, I want to be at catfish?
Or did you already know, I want to be Sammy because that's who I am and I'm comfortable on who I am?
I honestly didn't even, like, when they asked me, they were like, oh, you know, about the show, whatever.
What's your game plan?
And I was like, I'm going to totally be myself, whatever.
I never even saw that, like, being a catfish was a thing.
And they were like, well, why do you want to be yourself, you know, during the interviews and the casting process?
And I was like, well, who else would I be?
They're like, you don't want a catfish and be somebody else.
And I was like, why would I do that?
I don't know how.
I wouldn't even know how to be somebody else or, like, pretend to be somebody else.
Like, I don't even know.
Who would I be a guy?
Would I be a girl?
Like, what am I old?
Would I be young?
I don't even know.
I don't even have to think about that.
I'd rather just go and be myself and, you know, be the way that I want to be and not have to worry about remembering certain things or making up things about life.
You know, I just wouldn't want to do that.
Yeah.
I was thinking the same thing.
I was like, if I ever decide to audition for this show, if I'd be a cafe, I would not be a girl.
Because perfect example is Seaburn trying to explain.
periods and Mother Nature and I was painful as a viewer it was painful to see this I'm
like what are you talking and as soon as start and one of the episodes people is this all
spoiler I gave you the the whole spoiler warning it's a group chat between all the ladies
and you guys are talking about you period and see Bernie's playing Rebecca aka his girlfriend
and he does not know what to say about period and that was the first thing I saw when
he, as soon as he said he was going to play Rebecca, I'm like, dude, how can you play a girl?
You don't know how to be a girl or do you?
So it was very interesting to see him choose to be a girl when it's, I don't want to be a girl.
That's very difficult.
So one question.
I mean, I think he did a very, very, very good job.
I mean, the amount of emotion that he was playing off was a little bit much.
I think he was like trying to really like zone in on that emotional part of a female and he kind of just took it too far.
and that's what kind of made him shady.
Yeah.
But if he would have, like, backed up a little bit with the emotions and, like,
being over the top with, like, the crying and the emotions and things, that kind of stuff,
nobody would have ever suspected him.
No, and I agree with Chris, you know, take on it.
It's like, boy, you never met this person until now, and you're crying, and you,
it was very annoying.
But how did you get food and laundry done?
Because you were not allowed to leave your apartment complex, correct?
I mean, apartment room, correct?
yeah so they had um runners that would come and grab our stuff and like whatever we requested
they would bring it to us and they would do our laundry and they would wash our sheets and all that
stuff okay okay i think they're in they're called interns okay okay um were you nervous
posting your second picture on your profile did i what were you nervous yeah were you nervous
when you posted that picture and people were like oh you know because you were it went your pictures
started good and then well i'm not saying they weren't good
But then you went a little bit risky with, you know, showing more skin.
Would you nervous to post that picture knowing that, you know, the whole world is going to see it now and the people in the circle?
Not at all because I post pictures like that on my Instagram anyway.
Like that's where the picture came from was originally from my Instagram.
So I wasn't worried about anybody seeing it.
Like all my pictures that have, have taken are all on the Internet.
So that was the last one of my worries.
But it was more so I was nervous about how they would look at me.
me, you know? Because yeah, I don't care about the world. At the end of the day, the world sees it
great. But right now I'm playing a game and there's, you know, this amount of people that are
looking at pictures and I don't want them to be like, oh, this girl's full of herself or whatever
they may feel or think, you know? So that was, that was a little iffy. I was, I was in between
two separate pictures. I was like, you know, I'm just going to go with it. I'm going to do it.
And what happens happens. Okay. Dan, you and Miranda do a contest to try to get Joey.
to send you a emoji
that was in a sexual innuendo way
like a peach or neck plant
and seeing you play the game to get a peach
would you disappoint and you never got a peach out of Joey
no I mean it was just a game
I was only doing it for fun like with Miranda
I didn't think they were actually gonna like
put so much of it in the episodes
because I to me like from my end I was just like
okay this is like childish
I wouldn't do it I wouldn't I wouldn't
this in normal life like this would never be a thing and I would definitely never flirt like
through text messages that's not me either so you know it was it was whatever for me that was another
question that's very interesting so from the show and what what what was you was it like 90%
80% 70% you and what was the gameplay what was like which parts for me yeah like were you did you
go in there because I know I know at the end you say you know you were being yourself
But you said right now you don't you didn't like you don't like flirting over tax
You don't you don't do that
Yeah I mean and I'm sure you could see that in the show that I didn't like flirting
Oh yeah
It makes me like I mean of course I think a lot of people were like
They didn't like how how like skewed out and grossed out I would get by by flirting and stuff like that
But I don't think that people realize how I am like me as a person I joke around a lot
You know big ball breaker I'm always joking I'm rarely I'm rarely I'm
ever serious. So like the noises and the faces and the things that I do that they highlighted on
the show with me being funny. You know, it wasn't me like dead serious, like overthinking like,
oh my God, I have to flirt with this person and this person's starting with me.
After those conversations that happened or after those little flirt things that happened,
I would forget about it, you know, I wouldn't even think about it. But that's just the kind of
person that I am. Um, but no, the whole entire show, everything that you guys seen, the way that they
edited it, everything was completely me. Like there was never a time where I wasn't being myself,
or that I was saying something that I didn't want to say or anything like that.
Like, it was me at all times.
Yeah, because, like, we all find out when Ed and his mother came to visit you,
that you were like, oh, man, I have a boyfriend.
And I want to be, you know, how was that meeting Ed and his mother
when they came to, after they were blocked from the circle?
How was that experience?
It was different.
I wasn't expecting it.
It was definitely, like, I was surprised for sure.
It was unexpected because usually you're just expecting one person to walk in, which he did.
You walked in, which was cool, which is fine.
And then to be honest, when she walked into my room, I thought she was one of the producers.
And I was like, I literally was looking at her and I was like, why would she come in here when we're filming like something right now?
And then she sat on his lap and I was like, oh, my God, is this his girlfriend?
Like my next reaction was like, oh, my God, is this is girlfriend?
He was like, yeah, I brought my mom.
And I was like, okay, it makes me feel a little bit better, but still like, what?
you brought your mom.
Yeah, that's kind of, I love my mom, but that's kind of weird.
I love my mom, but that's kind of weird.
So now, let's go to the end of the season, which is the last, you know, the last two episodes.
You're heading to go meet the top five, which is, you know, like I said earlier, the top five says Shuby, Seaburn, yourself, Chris, and Joey.
How was that?
Because by then, you should have been, if I make it right, you should have been like,
two and a half weeks just literally locked in the room not having any physical contact
other than if someone got blocked they come to your room and said dude what the heck so oh and then
also the first alana was it that she came to visit you in the first episode um so yeah so how was it
then at the end you know you made it you're the top five just hanging out in that room with all those
guys at the finale or yeah at the finale yes or the finale was great the when i when i when i
I first got to meet them, like when we sat down and had that dinner, that was like such
like a crazy moment because I kind of forgot that we had been there for so long, you know?
And I was just like, wow, this is really happening.
Like we're all in the same room.
These people that I've been talking to, you know, for hours and playing games with
and getting to know and feeling some type of way about certain people.
Now it's all like, okay, well, that kind of goes out the door because now I'm meeting them
in real life.
This isn't a game anymore.
They're actually right here.
So now for me, it was like, that was my first impression.
of them. I kind of forgot everything that happened throughout the game.
That's awesome.
And just sitting there with them and talking to them, that was my first impression of how they are.
That's awesome. So what's next for Sammy? So you're working on your master's. You're working
with kids. You are the fan favorite, which I thought it was going to be either you or
Shubi, which is amazing. So what's next for you now?
I'm definitely finishing school. I have a couple classes left until
I get my master's.
And then I'll probably, you know, get my master's, do all that, get that all the way.
And then, you know, kind of take my career in, I guess, like, I don't know how to explain it.
Basically, I just collaborate with businesses, maybe even work in, like, another show or maybe a movie, certain things like that.
Like, I want to get into acting really bad.
Yeah.
And I love music and things like that.
So I want to take like that industry part of my life into all that after I get my certification and everything.
Because I feel like that will always be something that I can fall back on that I'll always know that that will always be hiring, that I'll always have a job in, that I can always be financially stable with.
But I still want to, you know, I'll be 26 years old.
I feel like that's like the perfect time to really like indulge into the industry of movies and actually.
and music and all those kinds of things.
Yeah, and now you have, you know, you have a strong following.
I saw, I think you tweeted or Instagram something saying that, you know,
I see all your emails.
It's overwhelming.
I'm going to get back to you guys.
So, you know, it's good to use that, you know, power and then bring some spotlight
to whatever, you know, charity or whatever case you may be.
Now, big question here.
Season two, we don't know.
I email Netflix.
They will not budge and tell me if there's a season two coming.
But if there's a season two coming and people are very curious after watching the show,
after listening to you on this interview with me, and they're like, I want to try for this thing called The Circle.
What would be a good advice you give them?
Bring a lot of stuff to do.
Bring a lot of things to give you occupied.
Bring puzzles.
Bring books.
Bring whatever coloring books.
bring everything that you can and anything that you can and literally pack a suitcase of just
board games and things to do because it is so boring in there like extremely extremely boring
so what did you bring i'm curious now because i'm i'm getting the feeling that you did not bring
enough stuff to keep you entertained i didn't oh really no 100% i did not bring enough things
to keep me entertained i had no idea what they expect i had never seen the show before i didn't know like
I didn't know anything, you know?
So I definitely was not prepared.
I was not prepared.
I can honestly say that.
Okay, because, you know, we all saw Miranda.
She had paused.
Oh, that's one thing.
Did you watch all the episodes?
Yeah, I finished them.
Okay.
So how was it?
Now, you play the game, and now you're watching it as if you were.
How was that experience?
It's weird.
Honestly, it was weird.
I would say the first batch.
It was weird seeing my face on television.
and like walking it with my family.
It was just such a surreal moment.
But now it's just like, it's cool.
I love it.
Oh, that's awesome.
So we saw Miranda.
She brought, you know, the puzzles.
Shubi brought his ping pong paddle with a little ping pong.
And, you know, Ed brought his mother, which, again, I don't know.
Chris bought his makeup, which that guy can do makeup.
And guys, I'm trying to get, yes, we're here in Dallas, Texas, by the way, Sam, if you didn't know this.
But we're trying to get Chris to come to this.
because I need to see the whole Chris in person.
So when you make Chris at that table, round table at the end, how was it?
Because I felt that Chris was connecting with everybody.
And I feel like when he walks into a room, he just lights it up and then just he brings this light with him.
Am I correct about that for Chris?
Absolutely.
Yeah.
100%.
He just, he brings a lot of positivity and you can feel it.
All right, Sammy, where can people find you?
where can people support you?
Where can they go to find more information about you?
All my social media is at it's Sammy,
IT-S-S-S-A-M-I-E.
My YouTube, my Twitter, and my Instagram are all the same.
All right, guys, follow Sammy.
I've been following her since I started watching this amazing TV show two weeks ago.
And follow the other follow Joe, follow Shoubi.
It's not Shubis.
S-H-U-H-A-M.
That's his real name.
You can actually go on the circle.
Netflix, Instagram, and the only people that they follow are the cast.
Look at that.
Pretty much.
That's an insider right there.
You just follow everybody.
Yeah, follow everybody.
They all deserve a follow, especially, you know.
But this is one thing, guys, you have to watch this TV show because one needs to be picked up again because I need to learn more about this show.
But let's go support Sammy and all these top five people.
Sammy, thank you so much for taking time out of your day.
I know you're busy working with kids and you just got off work.
So I don't want to add more stress to you.
Thank you so much.
Good luck with the future.
If there's anything we can help you out, let us know.
We're rooting for you.
Okay, Sammy.
Thank you so much.
All right.
