This is the Blaze Radio on demand.
Season 2, episode 13, Fear, the Walking Dead.
Welcome to Talking Fear with myself, Jeff Fisher,
Brad Staggs and Jason Butchrell.
And before I tell you exactly how I felt about this episode,
I will say that the season finale is a two-part season finale.
Yes.
If you didn't think you had time to sleep through this show, you will have time to sleep through that.
I'll tell you that.
Yeah, you hear the theme song.
That's right.
The theme song of the real Walking Dead, because that starts on the 23rd of October.
That cannot come soon enough.
Can I just say I loved this episode.
No, you did not.
I am going to throw something at you so hard.
There's not possible.
No, you're right.
It's not.
I was watching the Cowboys play last night, and I had to stay up late.
to watch this off the DVR after the Cowboy game.
Did you make it?
Barely.
No, I hated this episode.
No, but did you make it without falling asleep?
I did, but.
Because I could have seen myself at the end of this thinking,
if it was one of the times where I had to get up early
and watch it at 4 o'clock in the morning
or, you know, watch it late like you did,
I don't know that I would have made it.
I think rage, pure rage, was keeping me awake during this one
because I was just irritated.
I don't know why.
In general or at the show?
At the show.
To me, I'm just disappointed because they took large strides, I thought, to make it better.
Yes, they did.
But the past two episodes have just been very cringe-worthy.
I made it very.
Oh, no.
It started with the very first scene.
The show is having an identity crisis.
Even the theme song keeps changing.
Did they change it?
They don't, I mean, they don't play the little.
No consistency.
Yeah, not at all.
And whatever background music was playing was just really kind of lame.
And it just kind of floated.
So I was pretty much expecting, me and Jeffrey were tweeting back and forth yesterday.
I was expecting, because we pointed out in the last episode that Travis was just by himself as he was starting to walk towards the Rosarito Beach Hotel.
I was busy working while you guys were tweeting.
So, you know.
And so we knew that we were going towards a flashback.
And the episode starts off right after the death of when Chris killed that farm guy.
Right.
His name is Aladius.
Yes, Soras.
I got it.
I saw it on the piece of wood.
Or whatever.
Hey, Travis is a good carver, by the way.
Be able to carve that well with what, was that a knife that he did a good job carving.
He has a lot of skills.
He is literally like the MacGyver.
He is the MacGyver of the crew.
Totally.
I like him.
I liked his.
I liked his
I just generally liked him
throughout the entire show
except at the end
At the end I was like
Oh my God
Now I hate you again
He only bugged me when he spoke
He's
There were so many great lines though
In this show
Like when
It was when the dude
Who had been shot in the leg
And they're trying to fix him up
And the other one looks over
He says you okay bro
While they're stitching him up
Remember it's like
What? They're stitching him up.
You okay, bro?
This frat party bad guy gang is so ridiculous.
I mean, it's like the Apple Dumpling gang.
They're dark.
They're dangerous.
It's retarded.
They are dangerous.
This is stupid, man.
They're dangerous.
So we flash back to Nick and Travis, Chris and Travis.
And, you know, the bad thing about that whole thing was during the whole time,
There's no one that I really, really care about.
Between Travis and Chris?
Yeah, and I mean, I barely care about Travis, barely.
And the rest of them, I don't care.
Why do you care about Travis?
What is it about him?
Because he is the McGiver kind of guy.
Jason has convinced me that we need the McGiver guy.
I see him as filling an actual role.
You know what I mean?
I can see him filling a role in the group.
Yeah, like realizing that you don't.
plug in the hotel sign and floor lights to the generator.
Stuff like that.
She's sorry, okay?
I know.
She is sorry.
I loved that.
When you talk about so many great lines in front of the crowd, birds trying to bust through the gate, I'm sorry, okay?
I'm sorry.
Now, Jason and I talked about this.
All the, okay, so Travis comes up, all these people beating on the gate.
He slides through.
He slides through.
Shut the gate. Why do these people...
Just charge it.
I thought for sure they would charge it.
Or as Jason says, walk down to the beach where the fence ends and walk in.
No, you can't do that.
Or climb over.
Or you saw that he was going to be let in.
How about put your knife up to his head?
You're going to let him in? I'm coming with him.
Seriously, though.
So that was ridiculous.
Everything about that was ridiculous.
Yes.
That the masses didn't come in at that point.
But then, yeah, like what Brad said, and I've been to this hotel,
but you saw at the end of what last episode,
Homegirl was down with her friend getting surfing lessons.
It's an open beach.
Sooner or later, you can walk around.
All you like to do is walk up on the basketball.
Or you could climb it.
Yeah, sooner or later you can go around and come back up into the hotel from the other direction.
Everyone knows that.
That's stupid.
It was just ridiculous.
It's not a fortress.
It's not like the prison or anything.
Yeah.
Like on the Wonged Dead.
It's just, it's not a fortress.
No, we heard from the people trying to get in.
You have a castle.
Stupid.
You have a castle, we have nothing.
I was irritated by tons of little plot holes like that during this.
Like so, for instance, so Chris, if you still like the guy, you have serious issues.
He does a double cross on his dad and.
That was low.
Lures them in and I was like, oh, my gosh, he's lost it.
Like, he's just completely gone.
He's like, he's the worst person on the show.
But didn't you see that coming?
Yes.
I mean, Dad, look what you've taught me about these.
These guys, they don't love me.
They're going to get me.
I really did.
I didn't think you would betray him like that.
Double cross him in the barn.
He shot a dude.
I was with you on that.
I thought he's going to let him in.
And then I thought, no, he's not going to double.
He's not going to double cross his dad.
Come on in, guys.
Which brings me to plot hole, the biggest plot hole in this thing,
or just poorly written or whatever.
Their whole thing was they had to shoot this guy in the head.
And I'm like, okay, so why exactly?
Like, why did they, they shoot him in the head and they freaking leave?
What was the point of having to shoot him except to make Chris look like an ultra bad guy?
Like, that was the most pointless thing ever.
They literally could have just left him there.
They had made a pact that if one of them got injured, that they would not ever, that they would shoot him.
I hope no one gets a scratch.
I don't know.
That's just stupid.
It made no sense.
What was wrong with him, by the way?
He just shot in the leg and he had to rest.
Yeah, but he was like abnormally, it seemed like the pain level was way up high,
which is why Travis was saying, you know, what's your pain?
I can't help you if you're not honest.
I mean, yeah, I'm sure it hurts to get shot in the leg, but it just seemed like there
was something else going on.
Well, it was a through and through, Brett, I don't know if you saw that.
Through and through.
It's a good, fortunate, so you didn't have a shell to take out.
But my days in Guadal Canal, I recognized that.
We stormed the beaches of Grenada, out of this place.
But I thought there was something else going on that it was...
I don't think so.
Because he kept saying, you've got to be honest with me.
Well, first of all, I didn't catch anything else going on.
But you're right.
It did seem like it was overdone for a bullet hole through the leg.
But maybe that's where it was, you know, bang through the bone, whatever.
I mean, I don't know.
But you're absolutely right.
And do you really need to lay still for a week if you've been shot in the leg?
I mean, people get up and, like, walk on crutches and stuff, don't they?
Yeah.
I just think they were overdoing it.
You know what I mean?
Absolutely.
They were just, nothing was consistent with that at all.
That's why I was watching it, and I was like, none of this makes sense.
Everything they're doing now just not makes sense.
As opposed to the rest of it that did make sense.
Ah, man.
Time to go.
We're out of chickens.
Travis.
I told you you should have eaten eggs, but I just sat here and let you eat the chickens.
See that?
But see, that went again to the MacGyver in him.
Like, he was the guy with, you know, I guess that's one of those obvious things.
You don't kill your only source of food.
You know what I mean?
But still, I mean, they're setting him up as the guy with the ideas, you know, the smart guy.
Right.
Whatever that's saying.
It just seems like it can't be this stupid.
There has to be something we're missing that makes it brilliant.
No, it's not.
The whole thing was just to have this big split, you know, and to have Chris eventually be the ultimate bad guy.
That's obvious what they're doing.
They're setting that up that way.
Right, and we saw the preview of that, right?
Because wasn't that the end of the show?
Before we get to the end of the show, let's get back to when Travis is finally at the hotel.
And they're up in the room and they're talking.
That's where I was like...
I did it.
I can't believe I did it.
What dilemma are you having?
He left you.
He straight up left you.
He gave you no choice.
So why are you beating yourself up about it?
Because you didn't say I love you?
I don't...
What?
That's why I was all about Travis.
I was like, okay, fine.
I mean, he's somewhat likable to me right now.
He did what he could.
Now he's going to go back, be reunited with, reunited with Madison.
But now what's, I don't get this.
Your dilemma, I mean, you're, yeah.
Then we have the dilemma of this.
And then she, because of that, has the dilemma that she has to tell the daughter that the dad ran himself into a wall with the car.
It wasn't an accident.
Yeah.
So?
I mean, I understand.
I mean, it's so.
what the guy's been dead for how many years
now? Let's move on. So the point
was she was trying to explain
to Alicia why she always gave more
attention to Nick. I mean, I understood
that part. She was just saying because
I see how, or the reason why I gave so much attention
to him, because I see this darkness.
He was like your dad, and you were not.
Exactly. You were okay.
And I had to take care of Nick.
He could light up the whole room
with his smile.
I mean, I just kept thinking he was just like
Mary Tyler Moore. Thank you.
But this also gave Alicia the opportunity to utter this line, which I thought was fabulous.
Alicia said, how can you be certain if you don't know?
I paused it.
That's a gym.
Yep, that's what she said.
I mean, answer the question, Brett.
How can you be certain if you don't know?
Oh, grasshopper.
That's a winged binger right there.
Grasshopper, when you pull beans out of my hand.
What does that even mean?
And someone wrote that and went, yep, I'm keeping that one in there.
And there was a note.
Oh, shut up.
I can't take it.
I can't.
Seriously.
And I made another note that said, is that Chris's gang?
Oh, yeah.
That's where I was getting to, okay?
Oh, yeah.
That was at the end.
When we're promoting the two-part season finale, at the very end, they show a group just feet and a couple of faces at the end, walking up to the
gate of the hotel or the castle.
Oh, that's it. And it looked like that one or two of those was the, the, what'd you
call them, the apple dumpling gang gone dark.
Yep.
But there was no Chris.
Yeah.
Right.
So they either killed.
So that was them.
I think so.
Yeah.
It was them.
Yeah.
So, yeah, it makes you wonder, are they maneuvering?
Or is Chris there?
Is he there but hiding to do something?
Or, yeah, yeah, I guess we'll get like a flashback, I guess.
How does everyone end up at this hotel?
Everybody.
Because somebody turned down the freaking lights in the middle of the night
and let everybody in Mexico know that that's the only place
that has some sort of power.
Which just goes to show you that advertising works,
and if you'd like to advertise on the blaze,
just call us right now.
Dang.
Yeah, I mean, that's what happened, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, they pretty much this episode, I don't know.
I seriously, I don't know.
How can you be certain if you don't know?
Very good, too shamed.
Right.
Now, when we're all done talking about fear,
I do have a little thank you to the real walking dead I'd like to do, though.
Oh, okay.
Because fear, you know, look, the two-parter is coming up,
and, you know, we'll be here for you.
Twice.
Talking fear.
Talking fear, no problem.
Don't worry about it.
We'll be here for you.
But I got a direct message on my Twitter account last week from Walking Dead AMC.
No way.
And they wanted to inform me, hello, Jeffie.
Thanks for being a longtime supporter of TWD.
We'd love to send you a surprise in the coming weeks.
What?
It's a subpoena.
DM us back your email and shipping address.
Thanks.
Oh, hell no.
So I emailed them back saying, I don't want your stinking gift.
I want to be a walker on your freaking show.
So take your gift and put it right up your walker app.
No, I did not.
I replied, and they replied back.
Thank you.
So we'll see what the gift is.
Dang.
So I'm glad to have a little bit of communication with The Walking Dead.
At least who has the guy who runs our Twitter account.
He's like Bill down in the basement.
Send it to him.
He's got to verify to come.
That's dope.
I know what it's going to be, like a hand or something.
I know.
You're going to get like a severed eyeball.
I'm hoping maybe the whole, I'm hoping the crew shows up here or something for a surprise visit.
Donuts.
They'll bring donuts.
Like an office party thing.
And I sat on my show this past Saturday, and I mean it.
I've backed off a little bit.
I originally said that I didn't want to be a walker.
on the new show.
I didn't want to throw away on the new show.
I wanted to be on the original.
But we're close enough now to the beginning on fear
that they can still have the big guy Walker
and get away with someone who is still not emaciated.
So I still got a shot for fear.
And think of the people you could meet.
I still got a shot for fear.
Although I do have an idea for a walker
where they could use a fat guy walker like me.
Where?
I could be a fat guy walker in a freezer in the real Walking Dead AMC upon a hook or whatever
and just hang in the frozen.
That would be good.
Huh?
And then your lower half could just get severed and all the guts fallout.
Come on, baby.
That would be hot.
Come on.
And being in the freezer would steam.
So my review of this week's Talking Fear, Season 2, Episode 13, was, come on, guys.
come on so what's going to happen what are we looking for in this uh this two part season finale
i mean we're going to have the we're going to have the attack on the hotel right yeah you
would think we're trying to take over and then we had a scene you know they have a set with this this
episode we turn around and they've let people in they've just let people in we're going to
check them out okay that's because they're okay that's because they're okay and we've got them down
in the parking garage and we're going to see if they're okay because we figured you
know what?
Even though they're really pissed at the gate, we'll just let them in and they'll be nice.
Stop.
Yeah. I think they'll split.
I think maybe next episode they'll go back to Nick and his group and somehow.
Because they were going to get ready to get attacked.
They were about to get attacked too.
So I bet you they probably, my guess is a prediction is they get attacked and Nick and Little Miss hotness of his show up at the hotel.
Show up at the hotel.
Right.
And then all converge back at the hotel.
And so we're all together at the hotel.
for one big happy family.
They're all going to be banging on the gate, demanding to be let in.
Yeah, and they'll easily be able to, one by one.
That's just how easy it is.
The smart ones, if you can get through the fence, you can stay.
That means you're smart and you know how to walk around.
And before, as we leave you today, and we've talked about this silly show long enough,
thank you for listening, and we'll talk to you next week.
Keep your fingers crossed that it's a much better episode.
I'd like to leave you with a quote from our girl, which I believe is the quote,
of the show that Brad had for us.
What was it again, Brad?
Which is Alicia.
How can you be certain if you don't know?
It's deep.
It's deep.
This is talking fear on the Blaze Radio Network.
Bye.
