You're listening to the Jeff Fisher Show.
This is Jeff Fisher, along with Aaron Hernandez,
and you're listening to Talking Walking Dead.
Come on.
Season finale last night, pretty powerful.
Pretty, pretty stinking powerful.
I'm not sure what I thought would happen,
but I kind of expected a bigger war at the gates of the city.
But starting out, we'll recap the strong scenes, no problem.
We started out with Morgan and the wolves, and then we started out with a little intervention on Rick's part, and Sasha's in and out of Looneyland, and Glenn is out following Dingleberry around in the woods.
It gets shot.
The preacher man is Looney.
He believes the Bible in God is punishing him.
Daryl and Aaron are out trekking around.
And Daryl did something last night, too, that he knows better.
And I'm a little ticked off at him, actually.
and we see some more wolves, we see decoys, we see how they catch people,
and we pretty much took control of the city last night.
By the end, Rick was in charge and there is a new leader in town.
What do you think?
Yes, no?
Yeah, I thought it was a good episode, man.
Yeah, yeah, it was fantastic.
Now, starting out with Morgan was great.
It's good to see him.
Yeah, that was great.
Arguably, in my opinion, this was the best show.
since the pilot.
Oh, wow.
Yeah.
Wow, I mean, it was pretty darn good.
It was really good.
There was a lot going on that broke away to more action here,
and there was a lot back and forth action going on.
It was really good.
No question about that.
No question.
And then having Morgan come back in the beginning was great
when he was like, you can have everything.
Which was great.
I wasn't expecting that.
But I'm not going with you.
Okay?
That's not going to happen.
And he proved it to them.
It wasn't going to happen.
That's right. That's right.
I'll do anything.
I'm not going with you.
You cannot have me.
And we see...
I won't allow that.
And we see a totally different Morgan, right?
Last time we saw him in that episode clear, he was...
Yeah, he was crazy.
He was done.
He was nuts.
He was insane.
Yeah, he had the barbed wire around the city and everything.
He was freaked out.
Yeah, he's wearing that crazy get-up.
He lost his mind.
And now we see him, he turned into a teenage mutant ninja turtle with the bow staff.
No doubt.
You know, becoming a ninja and he's super zen-d-out.
So now I'm really curious what has happened to him since the last time we've seen him in the series.
Well, I mean, he said, right, lives matter or whatever the line was.
I mean, all life matters.
All life matters.
Yeah, all life matters.
And so, you know, I mean, that's pretty powerful.
Pretty powerful.
And, you know, the ratings were pretty good.
I think we had 15 or 16 million last night, which wasn't bad, up against Jesus, killing Jesus.
I'm sure killing Jesus from O'Reilly
We'll get some big numbers as well
Yeah
Which took a little bit away from Walking Dead
And then
Where are we go?
After we go back to the city
And they're still figuring out
What they're going to do with Rick
I'm trying to figure out what they're going to do with Rick
And what we're doing
And you know, Rick is just
Whatever
I'm over it
And the family is like
Look just tell them what they want to hear
Tell them anything they want to hear
tell them anything they want to hear let's get this over with
and I think he was ready to
to really go downtown on him and he said he was
yeah what a great line in the town meeting
was I was thinking about how many of you
I was going to have to kill to save your lives
that was hardcore
fantastic line I was so stoked there were so many good lines
in this episode but that was definitely the number one
there well and then
what's his face said that Rick
knows every grain of
Oh yeah, Abraham
See, and that's a character
That I really want to see them explore more
In the comic book
He plays a really big role in the comic book
And I feel like in this TV series
They haven't really explored his character yet
Well, we got a little bit
I mean, he's starting to come around
I mean, he remembers how he was ready to kill himself
Yeah, that was a good episode
You know, and so, you know
Science Boy who talked him into
Thinking that he was going to come and save the world
you know, saved, really saved him from killing himself.
So, you know, he kind of owes him that, but he doesn't want to tell anybody that.
No, I think he's definitely one of those guys that keeps things inside.
You know, he doesn't want to let too much out, which is a good way to do it.
Yeah, I'll be fascinated to see what actually this whole Morgan thing is about because he's been on their trail.
Yeah.
And it's not like this is all of a sudden, hey, I can catch up to him.
I'm kind of confused what we're up to.
I think maybe they're going to play it as a morality type, type storyline, because you see his face when he shoots Pete, how, like, whoa, dude.
Like, you are not the guy.
I remember when you were trying to, you know, get me off the ledge.
You're not the guy that I remember in the apartment when I was going crazy.
You're not the guy that I remember when I saved when you're walking around in a hospital robe.
You're not that guy anymore.
What happened between this time?
So I think they're going to explore that here in season six.
Okay.
But, I mean, Morgan is not the man he was either.
No, not at all.
You know, he's, everybody has changed.
And even Rick said that in the, you know, we're all not who we were.
Yeah, it's a different world.
Yeah, it's definitely a different world.
Now, all right.
Now, I'll talk a little bit about Daryl and Aaron's scene at the warehouse.
Okay.
everything was fine until they got up to the semi-trailers.
And I'm sorry, Daryl is smarter than that.
I think Aaron is dumbing him down.
You think that's what's happening.
Aaron is dumbing him down.
It's really ticking me off.
He's holding him back.
I'm telling you, Daryl is smarter than that.
He knew something was up with that.
You don't just walk up to a warehouse and have three trailers closed and everything is perfect.
Yeah, that is true.
They definitely did walk.
I mean, it smelled like a trap,
especially with all those cans hanging around.
Yes.
And they fell for it.
Yeah, they felt, and it was like,
Dale, you're smarter than that.
But I knew they weren't going to kill him off.
It was just a matter of how he was going to get out of it.
No, but that scene was tremendous.
And that I really got worried there for a second.
That was a great scene.
And then, of course, we had the,
within that scene,
we had one of the top Walker kills of the night
and maybe the season with the chain triple head kill.
Oh, yeah, that was pretty great.
Daryl's swing at the chain, slicing off three heads at once.
That was awful nice.
That and also the door jam kill was pretty great as well.
Yeah, that was good.
And then Rick had a good one, too, where he squeezed the eyeballs out.
That was intense.
When all the guts and all the goo fell on him, I was like, isn't that where you could get become a zombie?
So that got me a little worried there.
Then he just gets bathed in that gunk.
I know, but he's been, and they've all been bathed in it.
If you're going to get it, you're going to get it.
They would have already had it.
Yeah.
I think these people are the strongest of the strong at this point.
Yeah.
They already know that.
Now, I still go by the baby is the cure.
That's what that's, so she's the one.
I'm telling you, the baby is the cure.
The baby was born, you know, post-apocalypse.
The baby is the cure.
Maybe.
We'll see how it goes.
I mean, they're definitely taking it a different step from the comic books because it's, yeah,
I'm not going to give away anything.
But she's lasting around.
It hasn't happened anyway, Holmes.
That is true.
That is true.
I kept waiting for Monroe to show up.
I was going to get real dark.
You know what?
They changed the script a little bit.
Oh, did they?
Yeah, they did.
They did a good job about it.
But I think, but they did give a teaser of the, I don't know if you saw it, there is a
poster around on the internet.
Now I hope it's official of Rick staring down in the distance to a man holding a bat.
And if that's the case, then I know that season.
is going to get real, real quick.
And that person in the comic book is the next main villain whose name is Negan.
Okay.
Well, they claim, now the letter that was, what's his face read on Talking Dead last night.
The executive producer, right?
Yeah, the letter from the, got a note on the show, and it said,
for a good while now, humans have been the bigger threat at the state.
of our next season, that will change.
I said the show reinvents itself every eight episodes and we're doing it again.
Now that these characters know that they have what it takes to survive, what they're going to do
with that power, how will they choose to live beyond answering those questions?
We are currently putting into motions of our most ambitious stuff yet, and things are going
to get very big, loud, and scary.
So, I don't know, bro.
Maybe that means that they're leading up to this next villain
who makes the governor look like Ronald McDonald.
Like it makes them look like nothing.
Like a wimp.
Well, I mean, this guy, you're up a little bit farther north.
A little bit, yeah.
Right?
And so you've got, if you've survived now, you're tough.
Yeah, you've survived the winter.
And I love the way the wolves had it set up for the walkers.
when he was his time to reset.
That was amazing.
And he hits the garage door opener and the music and the lights hit
and they'd follow him into the back into the trailer.
See, my thought was, like, how did they get all those people in there in the first place?
I thought that they put them in there when they were alive,
that they rounded all these people up when they were alive and let them just die
and then turn into zombies.
That's how I thought they originally got them in there.
But I guess that's the way they do it.
It's possible.
I mean, it's possible they do that, right?
Because while they were there at the gate, the guy that we thought was a part of the wolves,
the red jacket guy, they just killed him.
He was the guy that they sent out.
He was the, I can't think of what you call it now.
They were scouting.
They were trying to find him, right?
They were trying to get him.
They were following the red jacket guy, but the red jacket guy was a decoy.
Yeah.
And, you know, how poetic was that?
It was almost like saying,
Look at this little red riding hood going to the big bad wolf.
I really thought that was interesting.
There you go.
That's good.
That's a good line.
Now, but the thing is, is that he wasn't part of him.
So he was the decoy.
He was the decoy.
And so that's pretty surprising.
Now, I'd like to be surprised at how many wolves there are.
There's probably a lot.
I think maybe those guys are just the scouts, just like Daryl and Aaron are the scouts for our group.
I think those guys are just scouts for this larger group
because, I mean, the amount of Ws that you're seeing everywhere,
you know, I'm guessing there's a lot of these guys
and they mean business and these dudes are real bad.
And you see it in the letter when they were looking at the car,
the letter they were like bad people are coming.
These guys mean business.
Right. Right.
Yeah, the car scene was pretty intense.
I thought, because Daryl had given up.
I mean, he was going to smoke.
a cigarette and then just go out there and, you know, kind of half fight his way out,
but he knew he couldn't make it.
No, they were going to be toast.
If Morgan didn't come in when he did, they would have been done.
I was, I kind of thought maybe, you know, A, we didn't try to hot wire it or something.
I mean, come on, bro.
Daryl knows how to hot wire.
I get it.
The battery's probably dead.
There's no gas.
I got all the nose, but try.
Try something, right?
Because you're going to die anyways.
Yeah.
And then I thought maybe I saw somebody, somebody on Twitter said airbags, wrap up on airbags.
Not a bad idea.
Not bad, yeah.
Not bad.
Pop those airbags.
Something.
Right.
Something.
Maybe, you know, try to punch their way through the floorboard so you can kind of flint stone out.
Oh.
Party rubble it.
I mean, something.
Yeah, you got to try something.
I know, just don't give up.
Now, what did you think of Sasha lying down with the zombies?
What did you make of that scene?
I don't know.
I think she's just trying to figure out why she's still alive.
All, you know, the people she was with her dead, and she's just freaking out.
So you think she just lost it and?
Yeah, why?
I don't know.
I was just like, I don't know where she's at with this.
Is she want to die?
Is that what it is?
She wants to commit suicide.
She doesn't know why she's still.
You know, these people, they're still struggling,
even though they're still struggling
why they are picked.
They feel that they're still alive.
So many of us have been taught that if we were to be alive at that point,
there must be a reason, right?
Yeah.
We were chosen for something.
And so, you know, we'd like to know why.
What is that reason?
And that's kind of what the preacher man is doing, right?
The preacher man goes out when everybody thinks,
And he's, you know, crazy.
I'll give you that.
He's out of his mind.
But he goes out saying, you know, God is on his side.
All he needs is God for protection.
Well, he goes out and he kills a walker and he feels terrible and he knows that it was his fault.
He could still hear the people screaming outside his church that he didn't let in.
Yeah.
You know, his flock and he can't forgive himself.
And he wants God to let him die or give him a reason why he's still alive.
But that hasn't happened.
All that's happened is that he knows he doesn't want to die,
so he kills the Walker and goes back home.
But he's still struggling with why he's still alive.
Yeah.
And then you see the really powerful scene towards the end
where they're all with Sasha and Maggie and they're praying.
That was pretty powerful.
That was good.
And Maggie was the one to do that.
I mean, Daddy was darn near a preacher, you know, out at the farm.
That's right.
At the prison.
So, I mean, God is a big role in their lives.
That's right
Which is it's pretty interesting to see that
You know, show this major starts hitting these topics
Which is really nice
I love it
Yeah, it's great
And then of course, through it all
Through it all
Carl is babysitting the little sis
So that's good
Good for him
That's right
Yeah, we love you Carl
Go back and watch your sister
Try not to make out of girls in trunks
But he's, I mean Carl was like they need us
They do. They do. They would be, you know, dog food without them. And you see it, I mean, with Nicholas, when he even tries to, you know, stalk and kill Glenn, he can't even do that right.
Right. He shoots him in the shoulder. Come on.
And stalk and kill. I'm not sure I quite understood that. Maybe was that we, do you think that was a setup for him?
I think it was a setup. I think he knew, hey, look, I'm jumping out. He was going to see. He was watching him. Yeah, he was watching Glenn at the time. That's right. When Maggie came up.
Yeah, that was a total setup.
Yeah, so he knew that Glenn would follow him over the fence.
And that's the scene that really bothered me.
You didn't try killing me not once, not twice, but three times.
You tried killing me three times and I'm not going to do something about it.
Come on, Glenn.
Come on.
I know.
Three times.
And you get your friend killed.
You know what I mean?
Right.
Yeah, that dude should be a walker food for sure.
Yes, absolutely.
So we have the new show starting up sometime in the summer.
Yes, Fear of the Walking Dead.
Fear of the Walking Dead.
And The Walking Dead, another 18, 19 years for the next season to start.
Yeah, it starts up in September.
Oh, my gosh.
We're going to wait until the fall.
Yeah, fall season.
Oh, my gosh.
I'll forget all about this show by then.
I'm excited to see what they do with Fear of the Walking Dead.
I really like that if you saw the Falling Dead.
the teaser, they're taking it back to the beginning of the outbreak, which is something that
we didn't see with this series, with The Walking Dead.
So I'm excited to see that chaos and what happens in that scenario.
Yeah, I hope it should be kind of cool.
At least I hope it is.
I mean, they've done such a good job with this one.
You'd be surprised if they don't keep the pace up with the new one.
But let's hope they do.
I think they will.
I think they know what's at stake.
Oh, yes. I think that's absolutely true. Okay, so Talking Walking Dead will return on the Blaze podcast network.
The Blaze Podcast Network, the Blaze Podcast Network, the Blaze Radio Network, you know, the Blaze.com slash radio, scroll down. It's under the Jeff Fisher Show. You know where to find it, right? You've already found it. You know where to find it.
So we'll talk more Walking Dead on Talking Walking Dead when there's Walking Dead to talk about.

See you when there's more dead.
Take care.
