Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to the Jeff Fisher Show. I got to tell you, this is one of my favorite parts of this entire podcast. And then there's Aaron and Jason. I know. Welcome to Talking Walking Dead on the Blaze Radio Network. Nice to have you along for the ride. Aaron, Jason, welcome to it. Good to be there.
Starting point is 00:00:32 We'll start with Aaron. thoughts on episode 611. Loved it. I knew it. Yeah. I knew it. This is, I've been telling our audience now for a long time, things are going to get real crazy. This is the episode.
Starting point is 00:00:51 This is the kickoff start of this massive plot that we're going to go into. That's absolutely insane. Get ready to bring out a box of tissues because you're going to start crying real soon. I know. That's what I was. afraid of. They start bringing in this whole love triangle thing, driving me and saying that all they're doing is sucking me
Starting point is 00:01:12 in for somebody to be sad when they die. Of course. Yeah, I echo Aaron's sentiment on this episode. I can't remember another episode where they gave away so much information. It literally was information overload if you were paying attention throughout the entire thing.
Starting point is 00:01:27 And forget about the little, I mean, well, there's all the backstories and all that stuff that make us more invested like you're saying into the characters. That's in every episode. But there was so much dang information And that the theme of this episode I thought was old Jesus's Little one liner there
Starting point is 00:01:43 Right before the opening credits started rolling Where he was like, your world is about to get a whole lot bigger And that's exactly what it is. We're in for a wild ride coming up in the next few episodes. Well, look, the world got a whole lot bigger Into a fenced-in big house. I mean, okay, it's time to move on. Jesus, first of all, I really wanted to learn more about Jesus.
Starting point is 00:02:05 I don't think we learned enough about him this episode, but he came along for the ride, going back to Alexandria and then on to Negan, which is good. And you have to think that the war is going to be quite a battle. I'm really fascinated on seeing the first meeting between Negan and Rick. I tell you what, yes, but back to your point on getting to know more about Jesus. I really don't care about Jesus. No, I like him.
Starting point is 00:02:35 I don't, okay, he's likable. He's likable. It's not that he's not likable. It's just, I don't care about a group of people that cannot defend themselves. Maybe it's a little bit. But he can. I guess he's like the one guy in that community. Yeah, well.
Starting point is 00:02:48 Right. He's like, he's kind of like, was he like that in the comics, Aaron? Is he? Yeah, he's like this super badass ninja guy, man. It kind of, it's really the main, I guess, soldier for the hilltop. But I guess it's, I guess the hilltop community in general just kind of pit. me off. A bunch of people that really can't. There's no reason for them to be there. Why did they survive? Right. It doesn't make any sense. But the only thing that I really like about
Starting point is 00:03:14 about putting Jesus in, I don't really want to get to know him because I fear that he's going to die and I'm going to hate it later. But I like that they're introducing us to the start of civilization, which I think is just a huge, huge theme that we're now moving into. It's a complete, it's a drastic change from bear survival, you know, from the apocalypse. to now dealing with the fallout and then the rebuilding of civilization. And we saw that when Maggie found out that, wait, you said you're trading with others? Right. There's other communities.
Starting point is 00:03:44 Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, she was happy about that. Yeah, and it's interesting that, yeah, every, I mean, it's just like, I remember playing that game when I was like in fifth grade social studies or whatever. Remember where they like, I don't know if they did this to you guys, but they would all separate you at different sides of the room. And everyone was like, you were a community, this was a community, this is community, this community. And the way the teacher would always set it up was there was some, something, some material that you didn't have that somebody else had. So I just like set off like bear civilization. So anyway, my whole point of that is it's starting now.
Starting point is 00:04:12 So they didn't have ammunition. They don't have fighters or a bunch of wimps, basically. Rick is like the wrecking crew. They've got guns. No question. They got ammo. They can kill. By the way, that again, that pissed me off.
Starting point is 00:04:23 So when they all pilots in the Winnebago and they get to that little area or that little house or whatever, they get there and so Jesus' people are all inside and like Rick's crew take them out in like two seconds and everyone's like hiding behind the desks I'm like come on guys seriously I don't know maybe that's just me what got you mean the hilltop gang yeah I was just like you gotta be kidding me you cannot you're in this world you've been it's been years and years near the zombie and you're out scavenging and you're out scavenging which means you have a little bit more you know tools of the trade than the other people but literally like four or five zombies have you hold up in this little building and you can't do a thing about it.
Starting point is 00:05:01 It was just, I thought it was ridiculous. Yeah, well, when Jesus was like, yeah, this is actually a more complicated than I told you, he really means it, which does suck that he kind of led Rick to believe in our group, you know, to believe that it's just a straight up deal. This is not a straight up deal for resources. This is going to get very complicated really soon, and it involves Megan. and this weird mafioso-like, you know, group that is the saviors, we're going to be seeing them and seeing how, you know,
Starting point is 00:05:34 they really affect the relationship not only with the hilltop, but, you know, the inner complex within our main character. So, I mean, it's going to get really, really tricky, and I think we're going to be seeing Negan real soon. I hope so. I mean, I would love that. And I love one of my favorite things you see what kind of, what kind of warrior
Starting point is 00:05:55 battle savage world we've come from as Rick kills Homeboy that comes back from Negan and he's got blood all over his face and he just looks what? The iconic real look. I know. That was great. And that kind of ticked me off at that scene too because of the hilltop people. Again,
Starting point is 00:06:15 to your point, Jason, is that this guy comes over here's one of theirs and he comes back and stabs their head guy who was a douche, by the way. He stabs their head guy, and Rick takes him out, Rick takes him out, and they're going to be mad at him? No? No, why?
Starting point is 00:06:35 It's mainly because of the power that Megan has. I mean, that whole play with Nathan, which is the guy that Stats Gregory, was the leader of the Hilltop, it was literally even said, I'm sorry, I have to do this. I'm sending a message. So you can see how this community,
Starting point is 00:06:52 the hilltop is almost like a broken community that they have left out all their dignity in just so they can survive and that survival means depending on the saviors as protection so i think that's why we're seeing the hilltop so weak and so timid and what's up with the bravado from rick uh on this i mean i i just have a they're just completely setting him up the fall hard you know what i mean i mean he's not it's just like he doesn't doubt it at all he's like oh yeah we're you know we're we're badass that's what we do that's what we're what we do, you know what I mean? Like guns for hire. Let's go and take care of it and everything
Starting point is 00:07:26 would be all right. It's kind of a good point. They are so setting them up to fall and fall ethically hard, I believe. Yeah, no, very true, but also too, if you're Rick and you're that group and you're seeing what's going around you, you're going, I don't know if these guys were that tough,
Starting point is 00:07:42 man. We took out any of their guys like nothing, and we haven't seen them in a month. You know, maybe they're not that up to be. Right, and one of the questions that we had last week or the week before was whether or not they had, it appeared that they had not told Rick about that. But we found out last night that they had.
Starting point is 00:08:04 And Rick was like, oh, you know, we ran into some of their guys and, you know, our guys finished them off in no time. Yeah. You know, big deal. So you're right. Rick has got that. We'll take care of you. And I'll bite your neck out if I have to.
Starting point is 00:08:17 And I have done it before. What's your problem? Right. I'm going back to the love triangle. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What are they doing with AIDS character? I mean, seriously.
Starting point is 00:08:27 I don't know. What's the point of the love triangle between Rosie and Sasha? I don't get that. Aaron, you're the love doctor here. Go ahead. Well, thank you. You're welcome, no problem.
Starting point is 00:08:40 I mean, I'm willing to play the love doctor, but I'm believing it to you today. All right, I think I will. That's going to be really, really in the comic book Abraham's left triangle with actually somebody has already died in the series and television series
Starting point is 00:08:56 and it's going to set us up for possible heartbreak in a big way because we're now starting develop Abraham as a character who's a really you know it's an awesome dude, he's a badass. He's already crazy though. I mean we know that he's already crazy we know that
Starting point is 00:09:12 yeah he's out of his butt but he's fun though he's not like a governor crazy He's, you know, I'm going to smoke a cigar and get an RPG crazy. And that's my type of crazy. Right. I like him, you know. So when he, I think we're going to see him getting some serious trouble because of the love triangle.
Starting point is 00:09:30 So when he was laying down at the very end, just kind of pondering life, was that crazy or did he hear Sasha's voice while he was laying there? Did that happen or not? Not in the comic book, but I don't think he's totally crazy. I think maybe that was more just like his memories, you know, they're trying to, you know, visualize his. memories but I don't think it's actually hand slipping into you know psychosis or anything I could have swore that when during that time he heard Sasha's voice I'm going to have to like go back to my DVR and check it out because
Starting point is 00:10:00 I was trying to like remember who are trying to think at the time who he was actually picking if he was picking Rosie which I'm totally team Rosie by the way I just want to make that clear right now she's hot I'm willing to wear a necklace plus the end was her necklace laying on the ground right so he did choose Sasha right he got Sasha. Yeah. By the way, we really have to write this quote down and maybe like put it up on the wall
Starting point is 00:10:24 because that was one of the, this is one of the weirdest, maybe most nasty quotes that probably I will never eat pancakes again. Remember what he was, I remember we was talking to Glenn? What was that? What was that about? When you poured the biscuit, did you think you were going to make pancakes? What? Come on. Seriously?
Starting point is 00:10:40 Tip of the hat to the writers though. I literally had to pause it because I was like first freaked out and just died laughing. What insane quote. Did you want to answer that, Aaron? Yeah, I'm never going to go IHOP again.
Starting point is 00:10:57 IHop does not use Bisquick. I don't know that, by the way. And I want to go on record as saying, I will. That's funny. Okay. IHop, make no mistake. You will see me again. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:11:14 That was crack of you up to. In the beginning of the episode, There's funny little things about The Walking Dead And you pick up on little things, you know And you just remember them little trends Right. And the thing that cracks me up is nobody apparently In the post-opocalypse zombie world can drive for crap
Starting point is 00:11:29 Because they always come across someone that's got this ridiculous car accident or wreck. So like when they pulled up and there's another car accident, I was like, oh God, here we go again. That's a good point. Nobody can drive in this land apparently. That's a good point. Well, they got used to just doing it right there on the road, they get to do what they want.
Starting point is 00:11:46 And so it bodes well for a problem. Perhaps, I don't know, some sort of driving laws? Yeah, right? Right, maybe they were there to protect us. Oh, no. Maybe that'll be another story arc for Negan. CHP, or I guess we're not, Aaron knows a lot of people. Okay, so we go, we're saying Negan, we've got, what, three or four more episodes in this season?
Starting point is 00:12:09 Yeah. Right? So, and they're not saying we're, I'm reading some inside information that Negan isn't going to show up till the last episode, right? Because they're going to hold us over for the, for next season, for the Negan battle, right? Makes sense. Yeah, it looks like it's going to be that way.
Starting point is 00:12:27 Yeah, very, which is, you know, good for them. Yeah, yeah, rah-rah. But, you know, now I'm wondering what the milking of the episodes are going to be until then. Well, if they're holding true to what their usual formula is, we'll get another episode next week of more character-driven stuff. Watch it be all love triangles. I highly doubt anything significant is going to happen. Plus, we went on this deal.
Starting point is 00:12:55 We went on this whole deal out on the road. And no Carol. Oh, that's right. Yeah. No Carol. Carol was left, you know, baking cookies and watching the baby back at the city. Good point.
Starting point is 00:13:10 And where's Morgan? The two people that hate each other the most we left alone. Leave them together in town. That's a good idea. Yeah, I'm a little, yeah, a big time. So I'm a little, you know, I'm hoping they're okay. What'd you guys make of Carl staying back? He didn't go along with them.
Starting point is 00:13:30 I didn't know if he was literally staying back because he saw himself as the protector or if he was staying back because he knew that he looked so butt ugly now that he'd probably potentially scare away any. No, my thought on that was that actually. he sees himself as the protector. Yeah. You know, he's starting to see himself as, I'll do right.
Starting point is 00:13:55 Right, right. He gave dad his permission to be with Michone. You know, it's cool. Shut up. Oh, and they had another tender little moment driving in the Winnevago. I know, holding hands, everything in the Winnipeg. Smiling and we're winking at each other. You're making sure that the entire place knows that we're together.
Starting point is 00:14:13 Well, the whole place came on to them. You know what I mean? Everybody showed up in their house and they're just like, yeah, let me get dressed first. Everybody's pointing guns at each other. Right. Yeah, that was kind of weird too. All of a sudden it was just, we showed up at the point right where he had come, where Jesus had come into the house and was saying, Rick, Rick, you know, we should talk.
Starting point is 00:14:37 And then he's waiting outside for them to get dressed and the whole, the rest of the town shows up. I mean, that was, okay, kind of strange. I'm not sure I buy that. Does nobody lock their doors? What's up with that? Right. Well, plus, I noticed, last week, they turned the porch light on that was made kind of strange to me. I wasn't quite sure how I thought maybe Alexandria power was down.
Starting point is 00:15:05 I'm not ripping apart the Walking Dead, though, so I'll stop right there. I'll stop right there because I've been enjoying it and I want them to go for at least one or two more seasons. because I was thinking this morning, actually, where they're going to end it. And it's got to be ending soon, right? I mean, you've got maybe one, maybe two. I realize we're milking it for money and we're making it and we're stretching it out. And it's such a huge project now that, you know, it's tough to want to say goodbye to it. But, you know, you've got maybe what?
Starting point is 00:15:32 A couple of years left of high on the mountaintop with the show, right? And then you're starting to go downhill. Then you are talking about love triangles. and she was with Rick two years ago before they moved into the hilltop and then once they moved to the hill. If that happens, shoot me. Oh, gosh. And then they're setting it up for the ultimate handoff to fear the walking dead.
Starting point is 00:15:53 And God help us. Right. That's exactly what they're doing. Yeah. But we do have 50 comic books of actual material left to go. That's where we're at right now with the actual comic series. And it is pretty good. It's still pretty good.
Starting point is 00:16:05 So let's just hope the show could still, you know, keep that integrity. Does the Negan storyline? take us all the way through the end? I'm sorry? Does the Negan storyline take you all the way through to the end of the comics? Somewhat.
Starting point is 00:16:21 Somewhat. It changes, but Negan's somewhat. Yeah, I can't get away too much, but the Sangers still play a part. Wow, so they literally could be heading into the final act by introducing Nagan then. So this theory could possibly be.
Starting point is 00:16:36 Yeah, possibly. Uh-huh. That's what I thought. Talking, walking dead, see you next week. Thank you.
