Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to the Jeff Fisher Show. Welcome to it, Talking Walking Dead on the Blaze Radio Network. Jeff Fisher, Jason Butro, Aaron Hernandez, Talking Walking Dead on theblaze.com slash radio. That's my sound. See how easy that goes. I'm about to whip somebody's ass, baby. Now, listen, that's the way I felt last night that I was ready for it.
Starting point is 00:00:28 And that's what happened. But I don't know that it happened soon enough. So we began the episode with going back to Negan's crew talking to, you know, getting Carol and Maggie, you know, getting them as hostages and then talking to Rick. And then for some reason, Negan's crew never had anyone come to rescue them, which I thought was really weird. I'm not quite sure I understood that at all. At least they haven't showed up yet, right?
Starting point is 00:01:01 Maybe they'll show up, you know, next week. because the end of this episode was them obviously taking over. I'm a little disappointed that we didn't gain any new characters from this episode. Yeah. Because we killed everybody off in this episode. So, I mean, from now on, we're not going to gain. I mean, I'm kind of disappointed. There were a couple of people.
Starting point is 00:01:33 in the Negan group that I would have been happy to have them join us. Yeah. They were nice to look at. I think they're doing that on purpose because I think that there's, how many episodes do we have left now? A couple? Three more episodes. I don't even, I don't even, do we, when do you think they'll introduce Negan? I still can't.
Starting point is 00:01:52 Last one, right? Is the very last one? So I think they're doing that on purpose, and I think the reason being is because we're going to have a major, major main cast member die towards the end. I think that instead of seeing new characters, I bet up until the end, I bet we get a major character introduced like Negan and a major character is going to die,
Starting point is 00:02:12 and it's going to suck. Who do you think that's going to be? Take a guess right now. Who you think is going to be? Maggie, she's done. She is done. There's not going to be two babies in this group. I know, Aaron.
Starting point is 00:02:22 Think about that. I was thinking that the entire time last night. I was like, ooh, they are just setting. her up to have the most tragic death, I think, of the entire show. It's going to be bad. That would be beyond sad. Not to mention she played such an important role in the future, at least in the comic book, right?
Starting point is 00:02:42 Her role becomes very, very important. So to have that happen would be such an amazing but tragic, you know, turn of event. And we saw her trying to take over, you know, take some of that role at the hilltop, right? Yeah. Yeah, big time. She was calling the shots there. Rick. Okay, and but let me explain why I think it's her, because I think that they've teased the
Starting point is 00:03:05 Glenn death so hard multiple times this season. Right. So they're either setting us up for Glenn eventually going to die, or they're pulling a big switcheroo, and it'll be Maggie. I just don't see how we can have two babies in the Alexander. I think there's only room for one. I think Rick's girl is going, is she's already good. She's already, she's already dominating that role. Yes, she is. So, hey, I don't know. I was wrong on this episode. It did not go down the way I thought I was going to go down. Way off.
Starting point is 00:03:35 Me too. So, Aaron, so we kind of had this discussion off the air. But I want to hold my response until you say why you apparently did not like this episode first. Well, I think, look, we ended the last episode tremendously. I mean, people were getting hacked, whacked. I mean, he got crazy. Darrell got his motorcycle back. And all of a sudden now we have this new character named Primo, and we didn't explore any of that.
Starting point is 00:04:05 No, we did not. We didn't explore anything of the bike. And then this great character that they could have used to kind of, you know, put more insight into the crew, the main Neakin crew. They totally wasted. Like literally, you talk two lines in there are like, all right, well, you're Negan, you're done. And they took them out. So I was really upset with that. And then I was also, I think they, you know, they kind of draft.
Starting point is 00:04:29 dragged on the, you know, carols, you know, you know, you know, suffering. Fighting with herself, you know, figuring out, is this going to be me, you know, Paula, which is the name of the character with the red hair, is that going to be me? I think they dragged it on a little too much. Yeah, I was really disappointed with not being, you know, as I said earlier, we didn't add any new characters from this group,
Starting point is 00:04:51 at least for a short period of time. Plus, I mean, we learned at least they should be talking of what the others are all saying everyone that they've talked to so far from this group have said that they're Negan. Yeah. Okay, so I think we're smarter than that, are we not? Yeah, I don't, I don't, it's interesting. I don't know, I guess the reason why they killed everybody off is because they're setting up that huge, holy crap scene that's going to happen in the last episode, I'm guessing,
Starting point is 00:05:20 because now they're all full of themselves. They think they killed off Negan, they think they're done. Yeah. You know what I mean? Unless they have a larger discussion with. Right, and well, hopefully, hopefully Rick has, you know, he saw what happened when he got cocky, and he knows that there's more now. Well, so I like this episode because it was completely, you get to see how badass, like,
Starting point is 00:05:45 like you knew Rick and the gang were doing their thing and they were closing in and they were going to get there soon. And so you knew stuff was going on. But I just, what I liked is just, I guess the method that they told this story, this episode, was completely from the eyes of the other characters. So that's why I liked it. From the get-go, they showed them looking through, the camera was looking through the binoculars,
Starting point is 00:06:08 and you're looking at it. So I just really dug the way that they told that story. So then you get to see like, wow, okay, yeah. She mentions one of the interrogators said at one point to Maggie, you realize you guys aren't the good guys, right? You're the bad guys. And looking from their eyes, that made complete sense. I was like, wow, yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:27 And so this sets that, this is the mindset that I was in. Like, okay, wow, we are teetoteling that line of, or teetowing that line of we are the bad guys now. You know, we're not the good guys. And when you see it from their eyes, it completely made sense. But then, but then, I lost my train of thought there. Bring it back.
Starting point is 00:06:52 Still good. But that, okay. Okay, so yeah, oh, that's what I was going to say. So that's what set up this inner, like, this, this personality disorder that Carol's going through. So she was exactly what Paula turned into. Now, Paula didn't ramp it back. She kept going. She got crazier and crazier.
Starting point is 00:07:11 She's like, I haven't lost count of the people that I killed. But Carol, as we know, has been keeping count. She just started keeping count. Right. So Carol went to that point, that breaking point, but then she ramped it down. And you saw that struggle with her the entire episode. She is now trying to keep. keep count. She is trying not to turn into Paula. So I thought that was a cool struggle. You know,
Starting point is 00:07:30 you see Paula, the red-headed cute chick, and you see Carol. They're both basically went on the same path. Their mothers, their family all died. They worked. They served coffee to their man. They, you know, they, they tout to everyone that they had to during their life. And now that's all gone. So that was the main story driver in this. That's what I thought was so cool about the episode. You know, you kind of had to like, you had to turn off a lot of the. the plot things that were making sense and all that stuff. But that's what I thought was so cool. So now you see Carol fighting desperately not to be that person. But the whole time, you knew that Carol was just about to go into badass mode. You knew she was acting. She was turning into
Starting point is 00:08:10 Susie Homemaker Carol. You know, the same Carol that they were able to use to steal Alexandria. They did almost push it to the point where you thought maybe she wasn't coming back, though, to badass Carol. Yeah, they did. And well, I don't think we'll ever actually see that style a Carol again. I just don't think because now she's conflicted. But that's a good thing. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, Morgan has brought that on. Yeah. And we kind of see that with, that's what I kind of got from this episode. You saw Carol almost getting to the point where
Starting point is 00:08:39 Morgan was, where, you know, just at this killing machine and then, you know, he meets the hippie goat guy. Right, right. And she puts up the Zen. Right. And remember she said, run. Yeah. She was giving her a chance. Run. Yeah. Turn and run. Yeah. Anyway, so that's what I thought was so interesting about this. And Carol, she just knocked this out of the park.
Starting point is 00:09:02 I mean, you could almost give her an Emmy, I think, for this episode. Almost. I mean, seriously, she's got to be in the running for it. This whole series needs to just be, ladies and gentlemen, the Emmys go to the Walking Dead. The rest of you sit down. And we just go through the episodes at the Emmys. Yes. Episode 612, the Emmy goes to you.
Starting point is 00:09:24 We'll just give it all to the Walking Dead. I sign off on that. I'm sure the Emmys don't, but they should listen to us. All right, so since we got thrown a tad bit of a curveball with this episode, although I kind of enjoyed it, I kind of enjoyed it. You know, I'm disappointed in no new characters coming out of it, but I enjoyed it and the struggle was nice. Jason's right.
Starting point is 00:09:51 That inner struggle is what makes us love them so much. Yeah, you almost have to watch this episode a second time, I think. I mean, seriously, I'm debating. I'm actually going to, I'm going to watch it a second time. I always do it with my father-in-law, so it's okay. Yeah, I always do. Well, look at it, and all the listeners, too, look at, watch it again if you weren't seeing it through that lens
Starting point is 00:10:09 and see it through this lens. And there's like so many other little things. I was trying to think of them last night, but I liked how organized. They made a very specific point to show how organized the Negan group was. Yes. So you heard her talking on the radio, and they were using it all, You know, all the military, like, you know, dragon.
Starting point is 00:10:26 I thought of you exactly that when she was talking like that. Exactly. They were like, rolled to this freak, you know, cancel that, move on to the next. So they were very, very, very organized. Which surprised me that those people haven't arrived yet. So, you know, maybe they're going to pull up first of the episode next week. There's no, well, there's definitely no hiding it now because she made a call out to their headquarters or whatever to send help out. They came, all of a sudden, all these people are not going to show up.
Starting point is 00:10:52 Right. So the word is out. They're going to go to this. Which I all thought was interesting. That was a slaughterhouse, wasn't it? Yeah. The jailhouse was a slaughterhouse? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:59 Yeah, the kill room. Kind of interesting. Yeah. And then they all got slaughtered in the room of the slaughterhouse. Thank you. Be here all week. I don't have a rim shop for you. All right.
Starting point is 00:11:07 So, all right. So actually, fascinating points, Jason. I think you won me over. Nice. I think you won me over. All right. I don't think Aaron is convinced.
Starting point is 00:11:17 I'm still on the fence, but I did like that they explored Michelle, which is the woman that was interrogating Maggie. her relationships a little bit because they said that her boyfriend was blown up. Right. Which I think was Darrell when he came out with that RPG and blew all those guys straight to heaven. Yeah, well, right. They knew.
Starting point is 00:11:37 And also cancer lady said now we know what happened to them. And he probably got it all big and uppity. Like, you know, they knew how he was. You know, the head of the motorcycle crew was Mr. Showoff and Mr. Bigwig. and now they know what happened to them. So the group already knew that that motorcycle group
Starting point is 00:12:01 was blown up and in the middle of the road. They just weren't sure who did it. That was really cool. And also another part of that scene that I really enjoyed and it was very nuanced and they did a really nuanced
Starting point is 00:12:11 and I love that was they showed that that Nick, I'm assuming Negan cut off Michelle's finger. Did you see that? Yeah, she said she stole gas. Yeah. So you could just see how this
Starting point is 00:12:22 this group deals with any little bit of, you know, strain away from their goals. And it's just, I mean, these guys are brutal. Yeah, and plus you see that Negan is, you know, she was a pretty good looking female, so Negan didn't want to kill her. Just cut her with her finger off and she's still around. I mean, you know, look at it, Negan's point of view, right?
Starting point is 00:12:42 I mean, all those women are his, right? He does what he, seriously. He's the Hugh Hefner of the apocalypse. Yeah, yeah, don't mess with you, Hefner. I'm starting to doubt now. I don't know. Actually, not doubt, but I can't get back to thinking where we were trying to decide who's going to die at the end over Maggie or Glenn. And I just remembered what was it two episodes ago.
Starting point is 00:13:05 Was it two episodes ago where they did the stealth mission in to kill everybody in? Yeah, yeah. So was it Glenn? Was he the one that saw all those photos of the heads bashed in on the wall? Yes, it was. Yeah, how many, and he. Oh, my gosh. Okay.
Starting point is 00:13:19 That's some foreshadowing. as well. Because if you've read the graphic novels, you know, I don't, actually, can I say stuff like that? Yes, that's what we do here. So Glenn gets his, that's how, that's how Glenn dies. Negan bashes his skull in with it. Oh, so there you go. That could be the final episode. I didn't even think about that until just now. So, so there will be baby fighting. There will be the baby fight club at Alexandria. Maybe. You know what? But then again, it's, it's been so built up. For Glenn, his near-death experiences. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:53 It's been twice this season. Yeah. Twice. Yeah, and one time was really huge, right? I mean, one time they stretched it out over a couple of episodes, and then the last one was him being backed into the corner there. Maybe they're setting it up for a third time to charm, and he's the one that does get it because if they're sticking to the graphic novels,
Starting point is 00:14:09 you have to do that, too, Glenn. You have to. All right, so where are we at comic book-wise, Aaron? I think we're, you know, rounding it up, and we're going to see a major character die. I think they're going to have to commit to that. And whether it's going to be Maggie or Glenn, I think I think Jason's totally right.
Starting point is 00:14:28 I think it's going to be within that, you know, group, you know, that relationship. I think one of them is going to go. So you don't think Michelle goes? Mishone is the next in line to Rick's heart. It would be a key for him to go cold. That's true. I don't think they're going to touch Mishon.
Starting point is 00:14:48 I think Mishon is just such a bad. I think the show needs that character to keep getting into, you know, crazier and crazier situations. So I think she's pretty safe. That's true. So, man, what about, then we've got a couple of the outsider gang twos that could go and we could still have Maggie and Glenn for a while. You know, we've got, we've got a few of the outer inner circle that could go, and we could take two or three of those and still be okay. It's going to be inner circle, I think. Yeah. I think. And just the way
Starting point is 00:15:19 that they've set up between Glenn and Maggie. It's one of those two. If they stick to the... If they're purest to the graphic novels, it's Glenn is going. It'll be the third time that he's had a near-death experience and this time he's going to buy it.
Starting point is 00:15:31 You guys are bringing me down on talking walking down the Blaze Radio Network. Oh my gosh. I can't do it anymore.
