This is the Blaze Radio on demand.
Season 7, episode 1.
Okay, this is just a preview.
It's not really.
We didn't get an early shot at it or anything.
Jason Buncheril, Brad Staggs here.
We've got to talk a little bit about the trailers,
and the show's coming up in a couple of weeks, the 23rd of October.
Come on.
I'm pumped, guys.
It was so messy.
All that blood.
Ew.
But still, I tell you what, I haven't been this excited.
in a while.
And a while.
Shut up, Jeffie.
Impossible.
So many lines.
Impossible.
So much FCC guidelineage.
I saw this sneak peek, what was it, like four minutes?
Four minute clip.
Yeah, it's three and a half minutes.
Something like that.
Whatever, it's fine.
Hit Twitter.
I was not expecting it to come out like that.
I mean, that was kind of cool.
But especially right, I mean, this is basically the moment
right after whoever he kills.
Correct.
Now, was it my imagination or in that brain matter that we saw just kind of
sprinkled out all over the floor?
So it was a brain?
Yes.
Okay.
I thought.
And I could have swore, and maybe I didn't, but I could have swore I saw some,
like, blonde hair in there.
Was I imagining that?
I don't know.
I also saw read an article where they say they see the ring of the engagement ring of Maggie
in that, in that, in that,
debris on the ground.
Really?
The shirt that's on the ground is what Daryl was wearing is what some of the reports are saying.
They're not killing Daryl.
They would kill the golden goose.
I don't disagree with that.
I'm just saying what they're saying, you know, what's being reported.
So, you know, I think that these are just, you know, throw us off the, throw us off the map curveballs from walking dead.
Yeah.
I cannot believe, speaking of that, I cannot believe how.
much disinformation has been going out
since the end of
the season finale or mid-season finale
to now. Literally, just like
what you just rattle off, I think literally
every single person, there's been a theory on how
they're the ones that actually got killed.
Every single person in the group.
Most of those theories put out
by somebody on the crew
just to generate some bones.
Well, I said the main report
was that I felt was real.
I don't remember who said it, but was that
they had filmed each one getting killed, right?
Seriously?
So it threw everybody off, so nobody knew.
Or they could just say, if we find out, you leaked it, you're fired.
Which they do.
I mean, which that's the case, too.
I hope it wasn't Maggie.
Oh, my gosh, wow.
I really hope it wasn't Maggie.
Well, I know, but I'm just, I don't think it will be here.
I think our call is right.
It's Abraham and Glenn, right?
Yes.
And the reason I think we made this was because,
we're saying that there's trying to catch the comic books what happened.
Like as far as who's supposed to be dead and who's going to die,
they're trying to merge them together so it makes sense
and doesn't piss off the people that read the comic books.
Right.
And according to the comic book experts, which I am not one.
But we used to know one.
We're going to have to, we're going to talk to them too.
We'll make sure that we talked on the next podcast.
We will talk to the comic book expert that it was word for word.
or at least almost word-for-word comic books to what happened in this trailer.
Right.
And then we said so we said that it's going to be Abraham and it's going to be Glenn.
And the reason we said Abraham is because he's not supposed to be alive right now.
He's supposed to be dead.
He should have died in the last.
He should have taken the arrow, right?
Exactly.
The doctor took.
Exactly.
So I think that personally this is the way I see it go down.
I think that he's the guy that gets hit.
Remember, Negan goes, ooh, you took that like a champ.
Oh, took it like a champ.
Yeah.
And remember how Abraham was just staring him down?
I thought it's Steve and Cole Glaze.
It was great.
But then I think he gets hit and then I think someone freaks out.
Maybe it's Rick.
Who knows what?
And I'm like, oh, okay.
Because remember he said if anybody moves, somebody else is going to get it?
So someone freaks out, whoever that is.
And then he pulls out Glenn kills Glenn.
I believe that.
It's going to suck.
Now, what would make Abraham jump out of line and freak out is if,
No, Abraham didn't jump out of a line, freak out.
He was just...
Sasha.
No, no, no.
Okay?
Stop.
Just a second.
Brick.
Bear with me for a second.
Coral.
Let's say that we don't kill Glenn.
We kill Eugene.
Ooh, took it like a champ.
Abraham gets pissed and jumps up.
That's where he dies, too, so they both die.
Except that Eugene is at the very end of the line.
Yeah, so?
And...
No.
But Glenn has to die.
Earl had to die.
Glenn has to die.
He has to die.
If you believe that he's going to,
if they're going to stick completely to the comic books,
they have not always done that.
They have followed the comic book and then thrown in there.
Yeah.
So what if they take out Abe just to get them caught up to the comic book,
I mean, at least halfway?
And then leave Glenn until, but you're right.
Glenn is like a cat at this point.
after the dumpster thing.
I'm okay with them dying.
Yeah.
He's got to go.
In my opinion, they do serious damage to the series if they don't kill Glenn.
Because at this point, if they don't, then we'll think that everybody, we'll think that as fans, we can cause a big uproar and save anybody on the cast that we want.
And you don't want that happening.
Because at that point, it just becomes like this big, you know, cartoon.
You know what I mean?
Where we know, it's like a choose your own adventure and what we say goes.
No, we have to be surprised.
There has to be that element of, you know, ten.
or suspense to where we think anybody can die at any moment,
even though we know Rick and Carl.
Except Darrell.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, I think Rick and Carl and Darrell.
Yeah.
And Darrell.
Then you've got, we know that Carol and Morgan are gone.
They're not there, right?
So they're still involved.
Carol's supposed to be dead by now.
I figured that what would happen here in the premiere,
and I think we talked a little bit about it last week,
was that we start to show off with the end of last season,
going down the line, any, meeny, ma'y-mo.
And then just to piss everybody off a little bit,
they break to Carol and Morgan over there with King Ezekiel.
Yeah.
And don't show us.
But we will find out in the first.
According to what the reports were from this past weekend,
we will see who died.
We were promised that we would see who died in those.
in the open, right? See, I think they are listening to our podcast, because these are all
questions that we brought up in the last one. I don't disagree with that.
I mean, we know they're listening to you because they're sending you all this crap and stuff.
I know. That's late, by the way. It was supposed to be here by now.
They emailed me saying there's some packaging issues.
It wouldn't fit in the refrigerator box.
So they have to find a bigger box.
Well, go ahead and take your time then.
Exactly.
They lost the keys to it.
it. They have to find the keys before they tape up the box.
That's fine. They can take their time.
Yeah. As long as it's here before the premiere.
Exactly.
So, I mean, look, A, the 23rd can't get here soon enough.
Right? Don't wish time away.
I'm, dude, I'm, don't wish time away.
I am so pumped up. I tell you what, I don't think, I personally,
I think that they're going to pick up right where they left off and they're going to play that scene
all in its entirety.
I don't think that...
Absolutely.
I personally don't think they'll cut away.
That's why...
That's the 90 minutes.
And yeah, is it 90 minutes?
It's a 90 minute premiere,
but that's the production side of me saying,
yeah, they're going to take that 15, 20 minutes...
And do a long ABLEOach or whatever.
Yes, exactly.
And that way, they're, you know,
it's...
They don't have to spend as much money
and they still get the 90-minute premiere.
And plus, it's all going on at night.
And all the footage I've seen
that shows Carol and Morgan,
it's all been daylight stuff.
So I'm wondering if that's just the next morning.
I'm just completely guessing here.
Right.
It would be very cool if they played out that entire scene in its entirety
and then didn't even go to commercial until that was done.
Which, oh.
Which they may do.
I mean, I hope that they do it.
And it's very possible that they do it.
How much do you think a spot is going to cost?
Oh, my gosh.
In the premiere.
Ooh, that's a good question.
Oh.
Like Super Bowl style, I'm sure.
No, no.
Not that.
Obviously not Super Bowl style.
I mean, because 18 to 20.
Actually, this will be the premiere.
Everybody wants to see you died.
So we'll say 30 million.
It's still in Super Bowl.
Yeah.
Wow.
But for a regular cable TV show, huge.
Yeah.
Huge.
And speaking of catching the plot and everything up to speed as far as what they've done in the comics,
you notice that in that promotional video,
or in that video that they released,
was, remember Rick instantly gives him that glare.
Like, he goes from, like, looks like crying to despair.
I know, he goes into, goes into Rick, badass mode.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And you can see in Nick, in Negan's eyes,
you could tell that he's like, oh, crap, yeah,
I might be dealing with somebody, you know.
Yeah, I mean, because, look, Negan's a badass, right?
I mean, he's the guy, he's the evil guy,
but he's also not a fool.
Yeah.
I mean, he knows how to rule people
and what you have to do to keep them in,
line, right? And so obviously when you see Rick go into Rick mode, you got to do something about it.
But again, like we were talking about in reality, you're Negan, you put a bullet between
his eyes right there. You know, I tell you, and we were talking about that in real life, he just
kills him. And that's what I was thinking off the top of my head. But when you think about that,
maybe you don't right because you want to you got to keep people in line and you want to have the power you want to have some power people so bowing down right so that you're able they will keep the others in line yeah and nigan is it's kind of hard to describe him now to people that haven't read any of the comic books i've read some of them i'm trying to get caught up but he is not your typical i want to destroy the world type guy his evil is on a much different level he's like i don't i don't just want to kill you i want to rule over you and
inflict my power onto you.
Right.
So he doesn't want to kill everyone just for the save of killing me.
He wants them to know that they're being subjugated.
Right. And so by taking
someone who is a, you know,
a leader of another group.
Exactly. And bowing down to him,
he'll keep those subjects in line.
It makes him even more powerful.
But did he have to drag our boy off like that?
I mean, he was like literally throwing him around like a rag doll
and threw him into that trailer.
I felt that was kind of strange.
Which makes you mad.
I was pissed at that.
Exactly.
Which that's the whole idea.
so that you get all pissed off
at Negan and you want to see his
head splattered. I know, but
on the flip side of that, to
be on Jason's side a little bit.
Finally, geez. He's Rick, man.
I know.
Yeah, that's the point. That adds
to the feeling that it is hopeless
for our group. When you can manhandle
Rick that way, you're like, oh, man,
we're screwed. We're doomed.
We're going to have Trump as president.
I got it in there.
That's a great point.
because we are due when that happens, I'll tell you that.
But what I was talking about for catching us up to the comics was he was talking about,
he goes, you got to have a good right-hand man, you know, right-hand, right-hand, right-hand, right-hand.
Then he takes the axe, and they make a very big scene of him getting that axe.
Right.
He's going, so in the comics, Rick has a chopped-off hand.
Yeah, he lost his hand early on.
Yep, and the governor actually did it.
And they claimed that the reason that they didn't originally do it was money,
and they didn't, I don't think that they were happy with,
their CGI at the time.
Yeah.
It would cost obviously too much to do the CGI with Rick with one hand.
But Herschel. Remember Herschel in the leg?
Yeah.
I mean, that looked good.
There were some scenes.
It was like, man, how are they?
Wait, Herschel didn't really lose a leg.
Well, actually, they did.
They found out it was too much to do the CG, so they got the act for it.
It was part of the contract.
Yeah, exactly.
And they said they would try to sew it back on at the end of the season.
It is the walking net after.
And they did try to sew it back on.
It just didn't take.
Maybe that's the refrigerated case that you're about to receive.
Herschel's leg.
Here's Herschel's leg.
No wonder they're so worried about you saying that this is not for sale.
Look, I will be happy to take that bad way.
By the way, the fourth season debut of The Walking Dead, and as a preface to this,
Sunday night NFL games for a 30-second spot are $570,000.
So how much, and this is again, fourth season premiere of The Walking Dead,
how much for a 30-second spot?
Fourth season.
I'll half it, $250.
What do you think?
Oh, stick right around that.
$600,000.
So that's right around that.
$5.70,000.
Yeah, so four, seven.
This is the fourth season.
So imagine they're going to.
This premiere will be at least that.
At least.
Wow.
And the fourth season was $16.1 million.
viewers.
Really?
Yeah, that's what they said.
Drew a best in class.
Because the finale's were up over 20, I think.
That's the thing about the Walking Dead.
Man, it either just hits it out of the park with viewership or it's like.
In today's world, first of all, in today's world, 16 to 18 million people watching a television show is huge.
Right, yes.
This isn't the 70s anymore.
Speaking of the commercials, like, did you notice how some people actually tailor their commercials to the show?
Like all of a sudden, it'll be like people walking around, you know, dodging walkers.
And you find out it's like a Nissan commercial or something like that.
That's smart.
It's really cool.
That is really smart.
It is.
It's almost like an extension of the show.
You know, it's just, that's dope.
It is.
It's really good.
So we'll be back next week.
Anything else you want to add in the preview, season seven, episode one preview before we go awake.
So next week we'll try to, we'll get our comic book expert boy on or sorry, male species.
Former New England Patriot.
Correct.
Got it.
And we may have another surprise guest as part of our podcast.
That's right.
Which would be kind of cool.
And then we'll also, we should know by that time on Facebook Live,
if you thumb up the Blaze Facebook page,
what the gift from Walking Dead is to me.
And before we go, MASH in the 70s, its finale.
105 million viewers.
That's number one still, right?
I think so.
And do you know how much a 30-second spot in that ran for?
$2.76.
You're close.
$3.13.
No, it was $450,000 then, which amounts to over a million in $2,16.
I just love facts and figures.
But I hate numbers.
Is that weird?
Before you do the sign-off, I'm just going to reiterate,
because I want to say I called it.
I'm still saying, I'm sticking with it.
Abraham goes down.
Abraham goes down first, then Glenn gets it because someone moves,
and then Rick threatens Negan, and then he gets his hand chopped off.
So we're going to lose two characters and a hand.
You know, it's more expensive.
That's going to cost you an arm and a leg.
Let's see.
We've already got Rick's arm and Herschel's leg, I think, that we're paid in full.
Somebody's going to get a foot up the ass.
Ha ha ha.
